A quick question for anyone to answer,why no overseas top club ever chase bristish players?like downing,carroll,henderson?why barca,juve,ac milan,inter,real madrid,bayern munich never chased carroll,didn't they think he would be one for future??and I'm so gutted to see phil jones playing for utd,at his age he's performing well,would he have performed as well for us of he was signed for us,or would he have became a flop like carroll,henderson?

Carroll has a lot to prove. Henderson's no flop - he's improving game on game.

How is Henderson a flop??
He's been with us 6 months and improving all the time. He's 21 and a full England international.
Have you even watched a game this season??

Henderson isn't a flop you tart

He isn't really playing any better than Henderson or Carroll. Just the media tend to be very bias to United and very anti-Liverpool. He might be great in the future, but right now he isn't.

Flop's! You sir are deluded and not a LFC fan,I did'nt see the clubs you mentioned ie Barca,Real,Juve,Milan etc ever chasing your British signings like Young,Smalling and Jones(the great English hope) so back to your own page mate,enjoy the game tomorrow,it's your last
in this season's fa cup

IMO i actuly think when jones played in midfield this season he looked more dangerous than Henderson...wich is depressing to me but hey some people just take a little more time to adapt to a new team, hopefully both carrol and hendo will come good!

Danny

Have you ever seen a programme called "bottom"? I digress. Most of the above.. Some of the above........The last sentence is brilliant.

Dirks Engine Room

12 Krispy Kreme's? That's mightily impressive.

You sure those shakes are nerves and not a sugar high?

Lol I had too look up what digress meant!
Never heard that word in my life

Square tomato

I'm sure i read somewhere that a krispy kreme has as many calories as a big mac. Its a long run to work 12 off mate lol

Dont worry I'll burning it of running around celebrating when we score!

The atmosphere against City was fantastic and played a big part in getting the team to Wembley. No doubt it will be the same again tomorrow and, hopefully, the crowd will inspire us to victory.

This brings me to my main point. Probably the biggest criticism of the team is that they are always up for the big games but never for games against the lesser teams. Supporters who attend the Anfield games need to look in the mirror, as we are exactly the same. It's hypocritical to criticise the team for having that attitude when we have the same attitude ourselves. Tomorrow, the noise prior to kick off, the singing of YNWA and the crescendo as the game kicks off will be fantastic. There will be singing and roaring from all sides of the ground for the full 90 minutes.

Yet, when we next play a mid or lower table team, the atmosphere will be like a chapel of repose, all sitting quietly, waiting for the team to produce something on the pitch. With no atmosphere, it is harder for the team to raise the tempo and the game settles into a stalemate, with the opposition gaining confidence, as they don't feel any intimidation from the crowd.

How many extra points would we have gained this season if the crowd was up for games against Sunderland, Swansea etc as much as they will be against Utd tomorrow? It really does make a difference. I'm sure Shankly, Paisley,Fagan and Dalglish, in his first spell, would all vouch for the crowd's contribution to the success.

My message is, let's be up for every game. Don't wait for things to happen - make them happen! Until we do, it will be almost impossible to win the Premiership, as we will continue to drop points in games we should win.

redmersey

Great post mate, very true!
gazthered

Your right in one way , but if the team put on an dazziling performance against norwich or swansea or any other lower team in the prem then do youthink the crowd wouldstill sit there and be low , dont think so , kenny said it himself , the team sometimes needs to lift the crowd , we dont go the match to moan or be quet do we , i go the match to see my team put in a performance and try and win , but if theres no performance on the oitch you cant blame the crowd can you , we both have to build each other up ,andthe fact that and fan that goes the game the least a player can do is play for them and put in a performance

i ve heard if we played like that we would of wn these games , so instead of trying to imply the fans like myself dont get behind the team then your wrong , the tea needs to lift the fans especialy after the bolton game wich come on the back of a bad performance against stoke at home ,

Totally agree. Went to Swansea game and we were out sung by their fans

KJS

I think your right...I had been going to games for years until recently moving abroad and had noticed the fans getting quieter and quieter especially when smaller teams visit us.
I do think though that its harder to inspire the fans at 12.45pm than it is at 8pm. You have all day to get worked up but at 12.45 you have only just got up...well sort of lol, but that shouldnt be an excuse

Speedy

Really good point. On the way home on Wednesday me and my mates were saying it was the best atmosphere for ages.
But you're right, that's our responsibility to reproduce it week in week out!

I wouls love all the kop to sing,theres only one patrice evra,when he walks out,yo show class,then boo him every time he touches the ball after that,

Totally agree. easier said than done, but should be the goal. and before anyone starts on 'yeah but they are professional..' yes , but they are also human.

hello ed(s). I know this sounds stupid but if we buy CAVANI for £35+ million and qualify for CL, or not buy CAVANI and dont qualify for CL and lose 35+ million on revenue ect. Which 1 sounds better?

The time as come for Downing to make his mark at Anfield, anyone know the odds of him scoring the opener tomorrow?

14/1 william hill downing to score 1st goal good shout.

27 Jan 2012 21:35:01
Watching everton play fulham right now... Landon Donovan is better than Downing. {Ed016's Note - go support him then}

How do you know if he doesnt already support everton? {Ed016's Note - Everton supporters don't know how to spell}

Haha Ed016 you owned that chump, superb answer !

To be fair though, downing is sh*t and Donovan is far better

Good shout Ed!

If donovan was good why is he at everton {Ed016's Note - Because he is not good, so he went to a rubbish team, problem solved, less talk about the blue nose, there really isn't much to talk about}

Downing is a winger, donovan a striker. No point making comaprisons, is there?

First post on here keep up the good work ed's I think one player will come in but wont be a expensive forward a right winger would be my bet. {Ed016's Note - Cheers, a few more days and we get a break}

You get a break??? NO chance there Ed youll be hounded for what signings we should have made and what we are going to sign in the summer cause some of these fickle fans cant think of anything else but moan instead of supporting their team ;-p

Speedy {Ed001's Note - I was getting asked who would sign in January in July!}

Jonjo Shelvey to become an Anfield legend tomorrow.

D {Ed016's Note - games like this can make heroes or villians}

True Ed. Just throwing it out there as a prediction for the craic.

Jonjo will more than likely be on the bench unfortunately

Ed you think jonjo will play? {Ed016's Note - Perhaps}

I believe that we have a new signing but LFC have decided to get this run of important fixtures out of the way before they make any announcements.

Makes sense as new signings can add distraction and KK has stated that focus on the next game and the next game only is the most important thing!

JJ LFC

Can't see anyone coming in Jan. Fees too high

27 Jan 2012 21:01:24
Only a few days until the window closes. Thanks be to that.

We've got plenty to cheer for this season and the annonymous rumours just distract from what we have to focus on: supporting the lads in the match against the mancs.

I've heard a rumour that Liverpool fans have forgotten what's important and have appropriately adapted YNWA to stand for You Never Win Anymore, prompting the twitter-tweener group to declare allegiance to Big Oil and demand a change in ownership, management and squad.

27 Jan 2012 21:12:19
I first want to start off by saying Im not expecting Cavani or Lavezzi to join. But I don't think that a player choosing or not choosing to come to LFC is based only on Champ League. A player could decide to leave for other circumstances. In the case of these two I could see them leaving Napoli because of the recent crimes that have been committed against them. Them being target by the mob and all. If I didn't feel safe in a city I live I would consider moving even if it is to someone without CL.
Also I think people are being a little delusional about LFC having to have CL to attract top talent. There are legitimately 6 top teams fighting for 4 CL spots who all have world class players. That means this year maybe Liverpool and Arsenal wont make top 4, maybe next season its Chelsea or Tott. I think people need to open their eyes and understand that there's no more top 4 and each year we could see a new top 4 each season. I think as long as we are competing and progressing each year. That our fans, stadium, owners and coaches are more than enough to bring someone in even if we were out of CL for that year. Ed's thoughts?

My mate is a butcher in Naples, and just told me that Cavani came in today for a pound of stewing steak and half a pound of diced lamb. His mate works in the greengrocers down the road. When my mate was talking to his mate after work over a nice glass of chianti, he told him about Cavani's purchases. His mate tells him that funny enough, Cavani's Mrs came into his shop with big pink curlers in her hair around the same time for onions, carrots, spuds and some Oxo cubes. He saw them both getting into a taxi with Comolli who was carrying a couple of large French sticks, and Daniel Agger, who had half a pound of Lurpak. My mate said "make of this what you will." Now I would have made Scouse with some buttered bread, but what about you? Cavani, his Mrs and her pink rollers, Comolli and Agger all sitting in Naples eating Scouse? They must be integrating themselves into the Liverpool culture. Straight from the horses mouth, he must be on his way, I tells ya!

Forget all the wishful thinking and give your imagination a rest. Just imagine this all time Scottish Liverpool 11 managed by Bill Shankly how good would this team be?

Steve Nicol....Ron Yeats..Alun Hansen..Gary Gillespie

Put Matt Busby in there in place of Johnny Wark, kidmillions

The Real KB

Or an Irish one.

Elisha Scott
Steve Finnan Steve Staunton Mark Lawrenson Jim Beglin
Ray Houghton Ronnie Whelan Jason Mc Ateer Steve Heighway

John Aldridge Robbie Keane {Ed016's Note - do a spanish one next.}

Pepe Reina Jose Enrique Daniel Ayala Alvaro Arbeloa Antonio Barragan Antonio Nunez Xabi Alonso Suso Luis Garcia Fernando Morientes Fernando Torres

What about this Scouse XI :

Tony Warner
T.Smith P.Thompson Carra G.Byrne
T.McDermott S.Gerrard S.McMahon J.Case
S. MacManaman
R. Fowler
super sub - D. Fairclough

The Real KB

Busby is a good call but I never saw him Play. The only player in my line up I didn't see play was Billy Liddell. John Wark gets in for his Goals.
kidmillions

What about the best team from players born in Liverpool?

Welsh one:-
Rush, Rush, Rush etc
Ultra red

Can any other Club side including Celtic and Rangers put a better Scottish 11 than that.

Rest Of Europe

Dudek Agger Henchoz Hyypia Babbel

Berger Hamann Molby Benayoun

Baros Kuyt

I never seen Busby either kidmillions. I only said it for badness. Although he was supposed to have been a top player for Liverpool.
The Real KB

South American Team

Diego Cavalieri Fabio Aurelio Sebastian Coates Mauricio Pellegrino Emiliano Insua Mark Gonzalez Lucas Leiva Javier Mascherano Sebastian Leto Maxi Rodriguez Luis Suarez

Baros gets in the Rest of Europe team over Jari Litmanen?

I think the irish one would beat the scouse one in the final 3-2. Aldo getting the winner.
kopfiend 1978 ynwa

Would have Chris Lawler in the scouse team.
Think the Scottish 11 would beat Barca in CL FINAL

Before the end of Jan Liverpool will sign Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy , Cavanni and Hazzard. Get a grip people we are not making any huge signings until at least this summer. Hopefully we can pick up someone like Hernandez at a push. But no world class biggies just yet sorry guys.
BradRed

Surely there's a remote chance of the Easter Bunny - I've heard he's always been a LFC fan

I heard we were interested in Santa Claus
but he's only gone and done a tevez. No1
has been able to contact him all through jan.
Apparantly he has a habit of this so we've
pulled the plug...

in response to tel 1949!

You are absolutely spot on!

and I would like to stress :

1. we are LFC! they are scum!
2. who needs a Sir A.F.? We've got a King!
3. whatever SAF will do and achieve, he and his little club will allways be second best, because we are LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB

And the award for most arrogant post of the day goes to.....this guy!

But on a serious note, people like you are the reason why i can't stand liverpool fans, the way you just dismiss other teams and their achievements is just appalling. Get over yourselves.

Manchester United are in talks to sign Crystal Palace defender Nathaniel Clyne. The Premier League champions have been negotiating with the Championship side over the last 72 hours in a bid to tie up a £3m deal.

But talks have stalled over when Clyne – who was so impressive in Palace's shock Carling Cup quarter-final win over United in November – would complete a move to Old Trafford. Palace manager, Dougie Freedman, does not want to lose his prize asset before the end of the season – particularly with his team on the verge of reaching a Wembley final. But with the 20-year-old out of contract in the summer, he has reluctantly accepted that he won't be able to keep hold of the highly-rated right back.

-------------------

Pisses me off when i read these rumours, we should be going for him especially at £3m, fits in with NESV and cheap wages..

BigD

We have the most collective of talented players available at right back to any Club in the Premier in Johnson,Kelly,Flannagan and even Carra if needed? So what are you on about?
kidmillions

Where was this? If he is available, I'm sure we would make a move... especially if we're looking to offload Glen Johnson (as might be the case this summer)

RedSG {Ed016's Note - "Offloading" a world class player, not the word I would use. He will move on if we do not have champions league football, but he needs first team football and he is getting it}

'World class', not the words I would use for Glen Johnson. Decent player on his day but....world class?

Great site Eds .This is my second post on this site and judging from our activity(no activity) and all these fantasy rumors from twitter,it very much looks like a quiet window for us as in my personal opinion clubs find it very hard to let their players go at this time of the year.i think that's why our targets are hard to get.

We do have the money but i think Andy's 35 million pound move was kind of a lesson to our club and we are trying to spend wisely on good tactical players who meets their tag price and our main objective 'The future of LFC'(young Talent).

i do think there will be at least 2 signings ,if not 1.But only if the price is right.Striker and probably a winger but not big names,i find it too hard to believe as much as we all want to.

cant wait for the match tomorrow.Enjoy it guys YNWA

27 Jan 2012 20:16:41
Has anyone thought that FSG don't want to spend money now as our revenue is too little? Think about it, if we pay too much now then this counts as a bigger loss and gives us less money in the future. Also this could be why the spent large amounts of money on players with low wages, as the rules didn't affect the summer and with low wages that keeps costs down. Maybe if we get Champions league football this will mean we can expect a lot more top quality players, not because they want Champions League, but we are more willing to spend?

Might be wrong but seems sensible enough.

question ed's - Robbie Fowler is saying Liverpool have already qualified for Europe with Cardiff City been governed by the Welsh FA.

Is this true or complete rubbish? {Ed001's Note - not true, UEFA confirmed a while back that Cardiff, and Swansea for that matter, can qualify for Europe through the English competitions.}

Robbie was actually asking the question but did say when he was there they couldnt qualify as they can now!

27 Jan 2012 19:52:17
Is Cavani expensive? Yes Is he out of Liverpool league? With no champs league, yes. Does a bunch of other top clubs want him? Yes. Why try? Well, his house got broken into, his teammates g/f gets car stolen from her, if I remember, team bus gets rocks thrown at them, read reports that local mafia is trying to strong arm team for stuff, players and their family need police protection. If you care about your family, that's something to be worried about. Since no one stepped up, why not make a bid, even cheeky below market one and see what comes out of it?

straight from liverpool echo website

KENNY Dalglish is reportedly planning a move to bring Napoli front-man Edinson Cavani to Liverpool FC, and unite him with international strike partner Luis Suarez.

The 24-year-old has scored 51 goals in 72 games since moving to Italy in 2010, making his name with some high-profile performances for Napoli in the Champions League..

People, people, people...a lot of you need to stop being as lazy and have a read of previous comments. I am quite sick of seeing cavani this, cavani that, when if were all being honest... we are a long way off making any signings along those lines. if any at all this window.

Although I love the enthusiasm of you all, and we all know we are a club that is trying to build and grow, it will not be a rapid fix. It will take time. but the owners, kenny, and the players are going the right way about it.

Stay positive, ask valid questions by all means, YES lets be optimistic, but also realistic. I am excited about where we are going! and I am proud to be a Red! YNWA

enquiries happen everyday, im sure every club in the world has enquired about messi and others. its no big deal its just saying you are looking at a player. when you bid for a player thats when you should start contemplating everything. last i checked we have had no bids.. maybe something is going on behind a closed door. but i highly doubt anything will come of it. then again weirder things have happened

Will messi sign for us because i want lio tidy instead Shanio1

A message to the players:
Tomorrows game is a spectacular event in terms of world football. It will be watched live by millions worldwide.

I hope we keep our composure, no daft fouls to give any possibility of penalties, play with spirit and determination and dont give them a second. Pass them off the park.

Let Fergie play his mind games, cos they wont work on The King.

Kenny takes the urine out of Fergie and you can see how worried he gets coming to Anfield. Fergie thinks hes got some tricks up his sleeve for tomorrow, really ?? who cares ? Those days are over now.

We dont need tricks and we dont want to win by foul means or cheating. Just go out there, play a professional game and hopefully end up worthy winners, in true Liverpool style.

Whatever team Kenny picks, good luck to all the lads...... be strong, be creative but most of all play with passion for all of us. We would all swap places with you if only we could !!

STAND UP AND BE COUNTED BOYS, BE BRAVE.....and remember :

Dont miss the opportunity of a lifetime....in the lifetime of the opportunity !!! YNWA

Of course mind games wont work on the king...cos king cantona isn't involved...

What is it with this month £100 million we keep hearing kenny has spent. The net spend is far less with more to come in the sale of aqualani, Cole and kuyt in the summer. With this in mind surely we should push the boat out for a marquee signing now like cavanni than wait till summer when we Will defo nite be in cl and other clubs Will have strengthened. If we get a top class striker now we Will defo finish top 4 with possibly 2 cups. Once your in the top 4 its harder for others to push you out. Once established back in cl and with plans to build bigger better stadium we Will then attract the worlds best again, with the revenue streams to pay for it with

Agree we need cl footy next year break the bank now don't wait till the summer.

PPL stop saying "break the bank" like its a positive thing. It really isnt and I would prefer sensible, steady progress to putting the club into debt again anytime. Some of you people have very short memories. Either that or you are kids and I'm wasting my time. {Ed016's Note - "Breaking the bank" ruined the world economy, I wonder if its some Bankers in disguise trying to get some more money, that or 12 year olds with no concept of money}

For some reason I got a feeling Liverpool will buy tevez late on maybe last few hours because hes a waste of talent at man city and no ones willing to meet man city's valuation don't be surprised if we do

HIS WAGE DEFIANTLY EXCEEDS OUR WAGE BUDGET ...

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I would not want him as a buy, he's a right stroppy tart!

And with what kenny said on wed about if city hav any more like bell they don't want. U never no?

Why the hell people are comparing Lucas with Carroll?

Lucas was brought in for a mare 6M as a squad player.. where as Andy Carroll was brought in for a British record 35M. Also he was brought in to replace the out going Fernando Torres who was among the worlds finest finishers at the time.

35M & brought as replacement for Torres there comes expectations & Carroll so far is not disappointing but EMBARRASSING. Our WORST SIGNING as far as I remember. It is stupid even to compare Lucas situation with Carroll.. may be Carrolll is young but come on it's boring to watch LFC play when he is on the pitch. Pretty sure Ngoo, Morgan even the Ngog guy who left for Bolton 'll do a fine job than him. No control, poor touch, poor technique, no vision, poor passing, poor positioning, poor body balance, poor accuracy & poor finishing.. u name it. SULK! SELL HIM ASAP! Take a loss of 15-10M. It is worth it.

I think you're on the wrong site mate..

This is the Liverpool site and we back our players.

Mr Slonk The Red

Numpty !! Brendan.

Think we would be better off taking a loss on one "fan". Namely you.

MIKEY

So your saying Kenny has no idea on players, and does not know whats best for the club please remember your not only slating carroll but your slating kenny`s player chioce. i think you should wind your neck in.

all this carroll bashing is getting cr=p now people are becoming a joke. lets leave it. j.canada

Thank god you are not in charge of our club. But I would love tou tomin chatge of the s um.. they'll go bankrupt in a year

Loss of 10 mil who the hell is gonna pay 25 mil haha

From a post above
"Lucas was bought for a mare six million"

What was the mare's value?

Why do we compare Lucas to Carroll? Because he was ridiculed for the first 3 years he was at our club. Tell me you were the only fan who didn't want Lucas at the club, because I certainly was 2 years ago. Now he is one of my favorite players and is an intergal part of the team. Carroll has been with us for one. If the manager shows confidence in him, then we back him. We back any player in this club, YOU NEVER WALK ALONE means something to this club and people like you don't deserve to support it if your not going to back our own player.

Good day.

RenegadeRed

Oh yeah' andy carroll is a great player.. he has been brilliant, excellent since joining the club...& some of our fans blind favoritism for kenny is immense.. come on kenny is human! he is a great man, great footballer, coach /manager but still.. {Ed016's Note - I deleted the last sarcastic sentence to make your post more productive to society. You are welcome}

What was it Shanks said?

I think our team is good enough.if we played most of our matches the way we played the other night with so much determination there is no reason why we cannot beat most teams in the league.I do agree we need a bit more depth but it just annoys me a bit when i see us beating big teams and then drawing at home to a lower league team i think what kenny said about his players in public was the correct thing to do.they earn far to much these days and have no respect for the club.no player should be at any club just for the sake of money.they should want to be proud of that club and always want to try there hardest.players like cavani who are valued at 40 and 50 mill by there clubs and agents i blame the likes of real madrid and man city etc.teams that will pay any price for glory but its been proved that it doesnt always work-Kaka and Torres are good examples.we dont need any more overvalued players we need to be wise and realistic and the way football transfers are going its the likes of city,chelsea,madrid that are hiking every player valuation up.its spoiling the game

Liverpool have a better chance signing Levezzi or Cavani rather than man city this because we have uraguyan players within the team like Suarez and Coates, and if cavani gets playin well with suarez they both could play together within the national team rather than Diego forlan so I think were in a better position to sign cavani however saying this man city Armenia better possition financially becauset they wouldnt mind giving him a 200-250k a week or 150k

Why lavezzi he's argentinian?

Lavezzi is from Argentina

Sadly Edison Cavani will not be signing from what i gather reading here it's just speculation from twitter.

But who's to say david texiera won't be the next star striker to come from Uruguay at the age of 20 he looks very promising id be happy with him this window to add some firepower.

This weekends match worries me, not because of the mancs but coming on the back of 2 games in 5 days and then 2 days rest and this massive cup tie.its mainly Bellamy who we know can't play 3 games in a week but also Stevie G who has only just come back and can ill afford another tweak?I would almost prefer having these two fit for the rest of season with a final already in the bag than win tomorrow,I know i can't believe i said it either,obviously ide like to win every game but you can't have everything

27 Jan 2012 17:38:42

Great post man
Red Kev

Agreed. People can be be very sure of themselves when saying that a top player cant be signed due to no CL, but look at Suarez.
Plus, believe it or not there are some players out there who want to join a great club (with history) that is well run and going places.

Dont get this site. Eds know nothing or wont tell us about players coming in, yet when someone posts a rumour, the eds will quickly rule it out and will say they're certain that this player wont sign. How can you be so sure that they wont sign? yet you havent a clue about players coming in. Ok could you please answer this, out of the many players we have been linked with, who is the most likely to sign?
I'm not having a go and sorry if it comes across that way. {Ed002's Note - We don't even know if anyone is coming in. Where there is interest we have said - to rank players in termes of likeliness is futile.}

Because they havent forgotten what phase of the reconstruction of LFC we are in.

27 Jan 2012 17:27:29
Ed002! When you buy a footballer I assume he becomes an asset to the club, the same as buying a piece of equipment for your own business. My question is how much do they depreciate a year? Andy Carroll for instance, does his value on the books depreciate over the lenght of his contract ( say 5 years) or is it a percentage of his value per year irrespective if he has left the club or not! Cheers Ed002, I know you will love answering this!

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - They become an intangible asset rather than a tangible asset to the club and typically depreciate at the rate of (100/number of years of contract)% per annum. Financially, this is based on the total cost of the player to the club over the length of contract in transfer fee, wages, bonuses, agent fees, tax, insurances etc..}

A player is worth what someone is willing to pay

Chris in Tamworth

Maybe you need to read the post again Chris!

The Irish Rover

It is quite conceivable that Carroll's value could increase as opposed to depreciate,when in the not to distant future LFC get their sh-t together,secure a top four position,win the champions league,again, possibly in a final against Man U or Barcelona with Carroll scoring a hat-trick in said final.He's a young man with more potential than,in my reckoning,any other striker in EP.''Go on Andy'',prove me right and all the nay-sayers wrong !! Brendan.

Cheers Brendan, just in case we don't know what decrease means. Thanks for that.

Hello to all,

I as a Liverpool Supporter strongly believe that we won't get any players this window. Let me explain why.

Liverpool 2 - Manchester City 2
We played against the current leading squad and if it was not for a super Joe Hart, Liverpool would have ended a lot different. We have to remember that we have Suarez out. So in two games time Suarez will be back for Liverpool and it would be as if Liverpool have bought a massive striker.

Now let's assume we get another striker eg. Cavani, Who is going to stay warming the bench when Suarez will be back?

Be optimistic with the current squad and always support the players. Remember that we supporters are their 12th player in the ground.

David (Gozo Malta)

But we aren't gonna get cavani are we? not even likely to get anyone in that class. a quick wide man/striker such as hoilett would be decent imo

LFC94

Surely cavani would play in front of saurez. not that i think we will get him but cavani and saurez up front would be a dream front line.

buddy's reds

Cavani signing on the dotted line for us would be an amazing transfer. At 6'2" he dominates the penalty area. Strong, has a natural finishing ability and a keen eye for goal. In 17 games, he's scored 11 goals, has 1 assist and had 58 shots. This is exactly the player we need, and to think Cavani up front with Suarez will produce a mouth watering partnership. I also wanted to fly the skies on the back of falcor when I was a kid. That, too, was just a dream.

Bellamy on the bench tomorrow and perhaps Gerrard. Carroll will start, Spearing may also return

Hans

Oh no not spearing

If gerrard is benched were in trouble don't you think?

He ran the midfield against citeh the other night.

Spearing wont return because we need a solid midfield and he does not defend as well as Gerrard and adam

MJ

Gerrard won't be benched he is 1 goal from levelling a record in the FA Cup I'm sure he's itching to play!

Spearing doesn't defend as well as Adam? tell me you're kidding?

Hi eds, not a rumour but more of a question, I play at a high level myself and have never ever had my club or any other clubs show interest in players to provide a 'smokescreen'. Do pro club actually do this to put press and other clubs off the cent?

Little cheeky one I heard today here in the north east, an enquiry from a prem club has been made for big Andy, no bid just an enquiry..heard anything?

Bus03 {Ed001's Note - I am sure there are clubs that have done in the past, but it is not a common thing, I can't see why anyone would bother to be honest. Not heard a thing about clubs enquiring about Carroll.}

I've been trawling for clips on Andy Carroll and the way he was playing at Newcastle that had everyone raving about him and him and Rooney being touted as the perfect England forward line-up for years to come.

Before today I had only seen him rip us apart and he was very good that day.

From what I have seen so far with us:-

- he doesn't have much of a first touch.............
that must be down to confidence as he used to have an excellent first touch and back-to-goal hold-up play and bringing others into play was top-drawer

- he doesn't look that mobile............................
that must be down to him being on extra training (similar to what they put Owen through to try and cure his hamstring problems). I've been seeing him outpace defenders or have quick movement in the box to get space to score

In his defence, he came to us injured and has since had a few injuries where he has come back and then been out for a while again.
All the time his confidence must be getting lower with the crowd getting on his back to try and live up to the price tag.

A very decent player is in there. I fully believe that.

There are a lot of supporters from other clubs just using him as a weapon to try and get one over their mates/enemies that support LFC. He's a waste of space, not worth the money etc etc.

It's not his fault that he cost us £35m. Don't forget Spurs had bid £30m, so if we wanted him then would have had to pay more (which we did).

I don't believe we are playing to his strengths - yet.

The goals at Newcastle - a lot of them were headers around 8-10 yards out with 2-3 team mates in the box at the same time. With us, sometimes the crosses go in and there is only one player in there (a lot easier to deal with) or a cross doesn't go in at all and the ball comes inside for a pass.

There were a few goals from his hammer of a left foot around the edge of the box and up to 25-30 yards out. Again, he was playing with confidence, using his strength and having a team/system that supported him being a target man that could do that.

We have a £35m asset that we are not yet making the most out of.

Lucas suffered many years of abuse and it's only recently that people have started to come round. Even the doubters that still questioned what he does are starting to see what he actually does in the team now that he is out injured long-term.

I'm not going to say give Carroll time as it's up to supporters what they do, but surely you get behind him, give him confidence and let him try to do what he has proven he can do.

I think people are getting sick and tired of hearing these same lame excuses. he hasn't been injured for a long time now, get over it. he scored how many goals last season? half a season and worth £35million? no chance, he was a 1 season wonder with his beloved newcastle, i hope they put in a reasonable bid and take him back where he belongs.RedTurk

Didnt Alan Hansen basically say all the same things...Me thinks you copied him

MJ

Talking outyerarse redturk.
The first post actually makes a lot of sense.

No Redturk, the only thing people are getting tired of is you beating the same drum every Fu#king day, with the same crap. Here's an idea! Try posting something about Liverpool that doesn't include the words Henderson, Adam, Carroll or Downing in it.

The Irish Rover

There are plenty of people that think the way of the first post.
Just ignore what redturk says.
He's entitled to his opinion, but it's not one that's going to help the team is it???

The first post is spot on and researched. I for one was gobsmacked when we got Andy and was over the mon. He could be immense for LFC. When we signed Dalglish, Barnes, Rush, Aldridge etc there were doubters too. Andy is in transition s is the team. RedTurk should take note and go and lie down in a dark room......

Iggypop

RedTurk, why don't you just forget the price tag, is it your f**king money? No. Would the club have spent it better? No. Accept we have Carroll, Henderson, Downing, Adam, Suarez, Enrique and Bellamy, forget the price because it's irrelevant. They're our players and your should support them through thick and thin. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

The Carroll excuses are growing stale. If it is true that Carroll is having shouting matches with Clarke, then the writing is on the wall.

As a Newcastle fan I can honestly say I was gutted when Carol left, and no offence, to Liverpool. Newcastles team was built around the big man and his threat in the air, Joey Barton swinging deep crosses and Nolans craft meant the ball was served on a plate to him. Tbh the only person who seems to be able to cross a decent ball to Carol is Stevie G, and they have not played that many times together. I would like Newcastle to reseign him, on the cheap of course! I dont think that we robbed you, at the time he was worth that much, English strikers who can score are worth the earth! Soon enough he will start scoring, but it maybe to late and he may be on his way out... who knows back to the Toon? How would the Liverpool faithful feel if you sell him and he then starts banging in the goals at the same ratio when he was at Newcastle? I know I was gutted when he left the Toon, maybe Liverpool fans will feel the same?

I have feeling that we will two players, on extremely expensive and the one around £15m. We don't have loans and overdraft, the owners want to reach the 4th spot , so that we can play CL football. I am guessing but I my predications normally becomes reality. I think we will sign Abel Hernández & Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Thats a fair point mate the yonks must get updates on players who are playing rubbish...And if they want 4th place they have to spend some more cash because even our bench is short of quality

£15m is quite a large amount.

Liverpool FC planning to offload Dirk Kuyt at end of the season
Dirk Kuyt will be offered a summer escape by Galatasaray after being deemed surplus to requirements by Liverpool.

The Turkish giants are planning move for the Dutch striker as he was earmarked as part of Kenny Dalglish's close season clear-out plans with a renewed assault on the Premier League's top four next term planned as their current quest for Champions League qualification appears likely to fall short.

Since arriving from Feyenoord in 2006, Kuyt has been transformed into a versatile component of Liverpool's side, where he has often been deployed as a winger and enjoys cult hero status among the Anfield faithful.

He has continued to feature regularly in Dalglish's plans this season but his place as a mainstay in the starting line-up he has been threatened by the arrivals of Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing, both considered better suited to the side's needs despite a good understanding between the former Ajax man and Luis Suarez during the second half of last season.

Last year he penned a contract extension which would see him remain on Merseyside until the summer of 2013 but it is understood that Liverpool would be willing to offload him at the end of the current campaign, a full 12 months before his current deal matures.

Kuyt, who turns 32 in July, was an integral part of the club's path to next month's Carling Cup final and had been linked with a move to Galatasaray this month but their initial approach was rebuffed.

However Fatih Terim remains undeterred in his pursuit of the attacker, who has become famed for a tireless work rate during his six-year spell, and an offer of £6million is hoped to be enough to force Liverpool's hand once they have required more youthful reinforcements.

@nbstw

Rubbish. If Dirk leaves it will be back to Holland. If not he will be finishing his career with LFC. Apaprt from anything else he loves the club, the city and the people in it.

No comments about about how I know......I know.

aussiepool tristan

I highly doubt he'll be able to start against United. His knee problem won't allow, it. Personally I'd rather he come on in the last 20-30 minutes then risk injuring him. He's far too important for us this season for us to lose him.

RenegadeRed

I agree with RR, having Bellamy for the long run would be more beneficial than just letting him get injured. He's one of those players who are motivated against all sides so as much as he'd love to play against United, he can pull the team through against the lower teams and at the end of the day 3 points is 3 points, no matter who you play

I think we should give him an injection and drop rest him for wolves game.

The top4 place is more important than the FA cup. I wud rest agger, skrtel, enrique, belllers n gerrard as well, n unleash them against wolves. Just bcoz its man utd doesnt make the FA cup more important.
Indian Buzzer {Ed016's Note - Yes it does, the FA cup is a major competition, tomorrow will draw more viewers than the SUPER BOWL! why does it matter anyway? why not compete on all fronts? Wolves will come at us, but if we beat United tomorrow it would set the run to the end of the season up perfectly!!}

Psychological warfare question:

Gerrard slotted two penalties past Man City keeper
Hart, picking a spot low to the left (Hart's right) side of goal.
Now tomorow if we get a penalty against the spam. What should captain fantastic do?

(A) Gerrard should put the ball the other side (right side of goal). Because the keeper expects him to hit the ball left as he did twice against hart.

(B) Gerrard should put the ball the same place (left side of goal) as he did against Hart. Because the keeper will expect him to switch sides for this penalty.

(C) Gerrard should put the ball the other side (right side of goal). Because the keeper will think that scenario (B) is the most obvious thought in Gerrard's mind.

(D) Gerrard should let Adam take the penalty.

It's a different keeper.
As long as he picks his spot, doesn't change his mind and hits it true he will score.

(E) Dink it ;)

Corkpoolred

(E) Smash it down the middle!

Why oh why do people make penalty taking more complex than it is. Choose the first place that you think of and don't change your mind.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

Why not leave it to Gerrad he's not too bad you know

(F) Straight at the keeper, taking the keeper with the ball through the back of the net.

There seems to be a smokescreen around the club, due to the large number of random 'transfer' targets, and as we all know there is no smoke without fire.

To get a fire, you need fuel and oxygen and a spark. To create such a spark usually you heat and friction.

So my question to you Eds, is the spark which has created a smokescreen caused by you lot constantly banging your heads against a brick wall because of the identical posts you get everyday?

Hi Ed's
If we are going to sign anyone this transfer window is it more likely to be a winger or a striker.

Kieran {Ed002's Note - I cann ot answer "more likely" questions without speculating.}

27 Jan 2012 15:58:43
I think it's quite clear Cavani is a no-go and most likely not even been targeted for this window, Udinese are in the champions league, so would be unwilling and he himself no different. A younger, cheaper striker is certainly possible, (David Teixeira and co.) and far more likely and far more realistic. But even then he could be a great player for the club and could be very useful to us this season as well. I personally feel a striker is needed, even if a star name is unlikely, and I just hope we get one signed prior to the close of the window, assuming he is good enough of course.

Hmmm ...thought Cavani played for Napoli

He's at napoli mate, i think its just paper talk... its obvious we need a striker so the papers will just pick one of 100 names out of a hat and run wild with it with "sources" and people "in the know" tho ill eat that hat if he does sign..

If you regurgitate, I'll eat the same hat after you mate. It's fair to say I'm safe though.

Hi Fellow Reds

I am so happy about the result and performace earlier in the week and to see Kenny's emotional reaction to the result almost set me going. Now you can understand why Kenny reacted angrily after the Bolton game, because he knows the potential of the squad as a whole and in particular certain individuals.

I feel Adam stepped it up and showed the sort of form he was producing earlier in the season. Adam would be more relaxed and I feel we as fans will be when Lucas returns. This is because it leaves Adam to play to his strengths, which is spraying the ball across the park and finding a man in a Red's shirt as oppose to tackling near our area. Whenever Adam has gone in for a tackle near our penalty area my heart has skipped a beat, but having said that he will improve on those silly errors also that will become less of an issue once "King Lucas" returns next season. In addition to this I have felt that his decision making in and around the oppositions penalty box has been off, whereby instead of passing it to a colleague he has gone for glory but again these are faults, which can be easily rectified so I am not to worried.

One player I admit I had been disappointed with this season was Downing, but what gave me hope was his displays for Aston Villa last season and also he wasn't being played in a position that plays to his strengths having been posted out on the right. Admittedly his form has been below the standards we have expected but he showed what he could do against Micah Richards and he is no slouch nor is he a shoddy defender so he definitely has the ability just he needs to start finding it and replicated it on a consistent basis.

Enrique & Bellers have both been a revelation since they both joined in the summer. I cannot remember a game where Enrique has played poorly, if I was pressed for a game where his form slightly dropped, keyword "slightly" I suppose I would pick out the recent defeat to Bolton and that would be nitpicking at its very best. Just to put things into perspective it would be like going from a 9/10 every game to a 7/10. Other than that he has been sensational and deserves a starting place for his national team, as even non LFC supporters can see on his form this season pits him currently as Spain's best left back. Bellers well he is just a legend straight up nuff said, his heart, passion and commitment all season was summed up in his display against Man City.

Hendo for me is doing just fine, I have no worries he will blossom into a fine player. You have got to admire his desire, which coupled with potential and ability is the recipe for the makings a good and dare I say it great player.

Andy Carroll. My views on where I stand with AC are on record for all to see and I havent changed my mind, I am not going to go into much detail again because its already been said and I know his name brings about much emotions and debate, so I will summaries them:

A) Would AC of been my choice of signing a year back? No.
B) Has he played to the standard we expect? No.
C) Is AC a Liverpool player? Yes
D) Should we get behind him and support him for as long as he wears our sacred jersey? Yes
E) With his age does he have time to improve and develop as a player? Yes
F) Has he shown glimpses in the past (Newcastle) against quality opposition of his potential? Yes
G) Do players of AC's playing style & stature develop at an earlier stage in their career e.g "early 20's" or later stage "26/27 years old"? Later stage
H) Has history shown players who have been written off by their own fans and mass public a like as a "flop" have gone on to prove them all wrong? Yes
I) In regard to question (H) have we as Liverpool fans personally experienced this in recent times with one of our own players? if so Who? Yes & Lucas
J) If you answered "Yes" to question (I) Then give the players a chance to settle and prove their quality to our club. No that doesn't mean be a mute or silent fan who bottles all his emotions when we perform badly against the lower league teams and has red tinted glasses and pretend everything is rosy, no I am not saying that at all. The point I am trying to make is don't write off players as complete failures because you never know you might be the ones in a couple of years time saying how great that player you once dubbed "useless" etc is and how you cant imagine our team without them. You might even be the one telling off other fans who are doing the same as you are now to a new player in the future who might of just join us and is likewise struggling adjust.

I feel our team can perform the standards we know they can and reproduce those types of displays we have seen and become accustom to against the "big teams" against the so called lesser teams then we still could finish in the top four, although it will be tough. I am not oblivious that we need some signings notably an out and out forward and a winger either in this transfer window if the right players are available or summer in order to make a credible challenge for the Premier League next season and to make a push for fourth place this season. I feel if we somehow manage to get into the top four this season our fortunes could change considerably in the summer because all we need is a few quality signings and finishing in the top four would make it easier, not easy but definitely easier in attracting the bigger names but importantly the quality signing we need. Lets get behind the team on Saturday and please can the fans reproduce the same atmosphere created against Man City for every home game! Also I read some fans are thinking of wearing Saurez mask on Saturday, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD you know that is going to backfire on us and the media will have a field day with this. if you supporters who cry "oh the media is against us" why would you give them ammunition to fire at us, also I feel it is very distasteful and a distraction we don't need both during the game and afterwards. To finish on a brighter note good luck to the boys on Saturday, make us proud!

LFC4LIFE

Well said and the most important point, do not give the press ammo to fire back at the club and supporters. Come on guys and gals, let us show the world how good we are. Let us applaud everything Evra does? Unless he scores!

I think people need to open their eyes and understand that theres no more top 4 and each year we could see a new top 4 each season. I think as long as we are competing and progressing each year. That our fans, stadium, owners and coaches are more than enough to bring someone in even if we were out of CL for that year. Ed's thoughts?

Hi everybody
I think the drama will go right to the wire for us as far as the transfer window is concerned. I just get the feeling we are looking at some players, but if we get them we get them if we don't, no problem.
IMO, there is not a great deal of money for this window and unless Commoli can strike a good deal for the intended target/targets, nothing will happen.

Despite Ian Ayre comments saying funds are available and John Henry will back KK in the transfer market. I am sure KK has been advised there is a limited budget and He and Commoli must work within the financial constrain. There can not another debacle like last January. John Henry has backed Kenny heavily since he arrived and if we are being honest, would you be happy with the investment so far, if you was John Henry. i would say he is less then impressed and KK an d Commoli have a lot to prove in terms of transfer competence. So don't get to carried away with any so called big signings.

I think Kenny is a great motivator and mentor and is doing a very good job. A few dubious substitution decisions. Transfer dealings apart i am more than happy with KK and was pleased with his attitude towards the players after the Bolton show last week.
it shows everyone despite his friendly attitude with his players on/off the field he certainly will be no pushover.

I think there is a good chance of a signing in jan, but not that convinced we will bring anybody in. Bargains are very hard to come by in Jan and i believe that's exactly what we after. we are now in a double dip recession and John Henry has other important financial obligations. The stadium plans for instance, which is proving to be a financial headache for Mr Henry and is team as well as other issues regarding stadium plans which are proving troublesome for the owners.
What is important to remember (for all of us fans who truly care for our club) is the Americans are a very large astute and successful business organisation. and a very respectable track record and have shown great business acumen and the reason they are in to sport is because they know how to use it as a commercial tool and they are continually actively seeking ways to improve their portfolio as well as adding more zeros to the bank balance. They will look after the club and its pretty safe to say we are in good hands,but ultimately they have themselves at heart, which is understandable. they have thrown money at us in the transfer market so far and give us Kenny to please us and now they will do what they deem to be the better options for the club and how bring in a greater return. So be prepared for decisions made by the owners that won't please everyone.
In short' they have give us plenty of money to buy players and there is not the sort of money available like last Jan and this summer. So no high profile player will arrive at Anfield this Jan.

I would love to know how much do you think a club would pay for Diego Maradonna (in his prime).
Maybe 120mil pounds?

I wonder how much King Kenny would have been worth?

KJS

Think you would have more chance of signing him for 80-100 million than messi , who looks like a one team man , dont think he will ever leave barca , maradonna was just as good , but his off field stuff is the big difference here , were messi will go down in history as maybe better , because of his clean lifestyle - he will stay at the top for longer than maradonna , and it helps that messi is playing in maybe the best club side ever , well apart from lpool.............lfc

Maradonna was much better than Messi

He could do things with a ball Messi can only dream about

Pele was better

Pele was not better than Maradonna

Maradonna was the worlds greatest player and his skill has never been surpassed.

Certainly not by Messi or Pele

Cryuff would be one up there may be just next to maradona because of his incredible ideas which changed the game ! {Ed016's Note - Pele...hands down or Eusabio}

There has been no better footballer than the hand of god, Diego Maradonna

Seems 1986 evokes bitter memories for some

Its all right to give credit where its due

I don't like Roy Keane but he was a great influential player next only to the legend Gerrard in the EPL history, it does not hurt to acknowledge ones "enemies"

Surely when the new rules come in to play the price of players will have to drop as will there crazy wages. We should have a better chance of signing top quality players then. The times they are a changeing. We are on the up.

Lets face it, we are going to sign no one this window. We are not going to get top four, we'll probably finish 6th, win the carling cup and next summer sign another bunch of mid table premiership players in positions we dont even need strengthening and come outside the 4 again and again and again and finally be confirmed as an average mid table team. The future does not look bright unless we change our transfer policy ASAP...

Sorry to be so negative but you cant say it looks likley we'll make top four this year or any other with some of these players.

Pete

Carlos79

Let's face it, you haven't a clue, mate. It was just a little more than a year ago that we had Dumb & Dumber as owners, with rumours ripe that we would be bought by a Chinese tycoon, or a billionaire sheik, or even go into Administration. We also had Hodgson as manager, and it was almost as painful to watch him not know how to pull the strings or motivate the team, as it was to watch the ugly, uninspired play on the pitch, or read the doom-and-gloom predictions in the newspapers for our great club.

Yet here we are, only one short year later, with great owners who have a top-notch reputation for spending money and building winners, and we have the return of a true legend as manager. If Kenny's tears after beating Man City on Wednesday don't show the passion that man has for this club then you can piss off and go find another club to support. I am sick of the negativity on this site from supposed Liverpool fans. Some of you are too stupid to be fans of this great club, so please do us a favor and go support some fantasy club you've built on FIFA. I'll support this club, like I always have, and when the day comes when we've reached the summit and returned to glory, I'll be on here looking for a lot of apologies from a lot of you muppets.

When you walk, through the storm, hold your head up high, and don't be afraid of the dark... at the end of the storm, there's a golden sky, and the sweet silver song of a lark.

Started Supporting Liverpool from 1999..

Best Transfers in: (value for Money)
Alonso
Hypia
Torres
Arbeloa
Reina
Marcus Babbel

Worst Transfers Out:
Owen
Fowler
Alonso
Bellamy
Hamman
Macca

Transfers In
Can't really argue with any of them.
Maybe add Finnan to the list as he only cost about £3.5m.

Transfers Out
Owen forced his way out by running down his contract.
The same with Mcmanaman.
Bellamy had the problems with keeping his golf clubs in his bag, so i can understand that one.
Hamman wanted more first team football.
Fowler - gutted when he left. Houliers fault.
Alonso - gutted when he left. H&G fault

Of you worst players out Owen and Macca both pushed for transfer even though they were offered big contracts and both were kicking themselves when they left.
Bellamy at the time was real trouble and lost his place due to off field antics. he has since calmed down alot to the player who played against city.
Henchoz was a great defender when we bought him Jerzy Dudek was also good value as his champions league final exploits were priceless. I've supported since 79 and some of the best transfers in have been the rushies, barnes,houghtons hyypia for me rates as one of the best bits of transfer buisness ever. good post would be interesting to see other peoples views.
Carlos79

Dont forget about gary mcallister , class player , helped us win a lot of cups , its a pity we never got him when he was younger , think he came on a free or for very little money..............lfc

Sami Hypyia ....now he was a fabulous signung

KJS

I agree with the above poster, Sami Hyypia was excellent.

Should Andy Carroll start for tomorrow game?

No

Slimboy

Yes, I fancy him against Evans....Downing needs to pick up where he left off on Wednesday so hopefully Carroll can get some service. Potentially I'd consider Kelly, Shelvey and Carragher depending on fitness of the team that started on Wednesday.

Richards

If that Peter Crouch-on-a-diet keeper of theirs starts, then yes !
The Real KB

Do you mean start playing?

Really depends on how Bellamy's knees are holding up. If Bellamy is fit he will play, with Andy on the bench.

More likely that Andy will start vs Wolves in midweek IMO (unless Cavani has been signed.... I can dream)

Kenny believes he will puta bit of fire into the bellies of the forwards and knows he will score a few goals.
I know hes not a typical sgning but remember KK did it with Speedie yrs ago

No chance of Kevin 'fatty' Davies

Hi Guys,

What a wonderful evening on Wednesday. It really did feel like a european night, it was a true pity i wasn't there embrassing it, but there we go, it all felt the same after a few pints of lager.

Credit goes to Bellamy especially, who for me, isn't buy of the season but buy of the century. A comparison by Stevie to the great Gary Mac isnt many miles from reality. Everybody you speak to, regardless of who they support, are hailing the signing and acknowleging he gives 110% everywhere he goes, regardless of the club or the position he plays. Inspiring, and a great person for the young ones to look up to.

So wembely is only short of a month away, been a long await but one well worth it. The cheek of the Everton fans calling this a mickey mouse cup in jest. I find that very amusing and rather ironic coming from a club who have no shelves in their trophy cabinet, let alone trophies..

Tough game against Cardiff and being a welshman myself, it will be a famous day for the Welsh Liverpool fans. Also, i believe if we beat United tommorow, then a F.A cup run would be fantastic, along with a 4th place finish. I'm hardly asking for much...

Any way, iechyd da, good health and enjoy the football

the only way we can get cavani is by offering them kuyt and maxi and 60mill maybe then we could get lavezzi as well plus we would have to offer them both champions league footy and big wages with liverpool can not.

27 Jan 2012 12:52:55
its looking more likely that given the finances of football and the current availability of players there will be limited movement in the transfer window..expect Chelsea to sign a couple of players but all the other top teams to wait till the Summer

lets know what the FCG conference is all about

27 Jan 2012 12:47:23
Dalglish has got the reaction he wanted after the Bolton game... he's nto going to come and say, we're desperate for players with big games apporaching! I think he feels that the players need to have some belief that they are because they are wanted to play their part... we've got utd tomorrow, so, not announcments until after, if any at all...

27 Jan 2012 12:47:14
It will be difficult to-morrow, hope it will be fairly officiated.

Real men will be needed and they don't come any more real than Carra

Carra must start the game or we may lose the physical battle that will ensue on the pitch.

Liverpool just to shade it.

Stevie MOM.

Carra will be exposed for pace, no way!

Carra has lost his place in the side and will never regain it, next season coates will be the 3rd option with wilson as back up

How fickle

When the going gets tuff to-morow if Kenny does not start Carra he'll bring him on

The days of Carra are not yet gone

Carra is still a top player. but if its not broke.....

27 Jan 2012 12:43:53
Just been looking at the Macca section on the page and can not believe the guy who stated that Macca isnt in the know and is just the same as the rest of us.
Where were you when Macca was on here last year, naming the players we were after and telling us all about our targets. When everyone said we were looking at Ashley Young whilst scouting Villa he told us it was Downing, he told us that Adam would sign, and admitted that we failed in January.
It was thanks to Macca that we alll knew that Dalglish would be in charge by the 3rd round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford, and therefore thanks to Macca that I was there to welcome him back with open arms.
Things change and things develop, we were told about the possibility of a certain player coming from Inter, and the words were 'trying' to get him, that does not mean that Inter wanted him to leave, even on loan. If it was the player we thought then he played in the Coppa Italia just after Macca mentioned him, which may have been the club showing that he was in their first team plans and they had no desire to loan him or sell him.
Liverpool can shown an interest in a player, and Macca can relay that to us, but he cannot guarantee, just like even Dalglish or Comolli or even J.Henry can that we will definately get the player we want.

Understand, fickle fans (a very small minority), that football has its twists and turns, and not a single person in the world can tell us all exactly what will happen.

Anfield Andy

I think its because Macca gets a lot wrong which is fair enough as transfers are complicated and anything can happen.

I feel the eds have put macca on a pedestal so everyone now expects everything he says to come to fruition and when it doesn't people are disappointed.

Yes he has been spot on a few times but a lot of what he says doesnt always materialise... I definately appreciate him sharing information though especially as he doesnt have to.

Leo {Ed002's Note - Pedestal? BS.}

So what do you call giving him his own page on the site?

If this is not raising expectations and putting him up on a pedestal in comparison to all the other thousands of people that use the site then I dont know what is.

Leo {Ed002's Note - Not at all. It was to try and keep some of the repeated questions on the rest of the page. We figured that folks would be bright enough to look there first. Nothing else.}

I'm a spur fan, I come on here for a giggle looking at who your linking yourselves with and for the banrer! The banter with the goon heads is non existent tbh, so hence the reason for coming on here, some times the banter is a touch disrespectful but you have fans that you should be proud of ie the real kb, we have conversed on things from football to Hillsboro (as it so nearly happened to us, we were lucky that day, no fencing, we were able to stream on to the pitch),but anyway to the real kb one or two eds and a couple more, more knowledgeable supporters, thank you

Sir Billy Nick

Cheers mate. I was just getting a tongue lashing off ed002 about CPO and new stadiums. What's happening with the proposed one at Tottenham, staying where you are now eh ?
I have to say, although I'd like Spurs to stay true to their community, getting to / from WHL is a right pain mate. And that long walk up the seven sisters was one of the scariest gigs I've ever done !

Hi Sir Billy Nick

Didnt know spuds have a page on this site?

Cheers kb, would love to stay at the lane , but its limit is restricted to i think 60,000, there'a a waiting list of another 26,000 and then those that just cant be bothered to be put on a list, so thats why were looking! theres a couple of sites weve looked at walthamstow and enfield locke, dont want the olympic st tbh, tottenham is north/east london so we do have a lot of support in that area but the spammers dont like to admit the fact lol, i used to work with a geordie who said he feared for his life everytime he came to the lane that he never came again and was the only away game he would miss?, i used to enjoy a pint with the odd away fan in the corner pin, but now thats gone! to the other poster yes we have a page lol but most do their talking on a couple of facebook pages which are quite big..

I think the Tottenham MP is pressurising the club to stay as well, after the riots. And Boris. WHL is bouncing these days mind, if ever you're gonna move / re-develop now seems to be the time.
Yous are like us, need to grow to compete but without damaging the team. I hope Chelsea or Utd don't get their clammy hands on Modric.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - We don't use the name "Boris" for the great man, we use his Ganster Rap name - BoJo.}

Kb I don't think they will get their hands on the little pearl, least I hope not, I was working whl and the wild west (London joke about Stamford cowboys) and where the riots were really did resemble a war zone it was horrific, question its
do we stay out go bigger? One for bojo

Lol. Maybe BoJo could put a few thousand of those daft bikes o/s WHL so you can get back to the tube station quickly and without getting your head kicked in !
But, in all seriousness, we have mentioned the need for infrastructure if LFC were to grow their capacity. But getting away Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea is an absolute nightmare.
The Real KB

From, that should be.

Macca - please ignore all the idiots on here and give us real fans a hint of something. I am sad to think that Bellamy is our only hope (Carroll being crap and Luis being out still) - even with his knee problems he is twice the player Carroll is.
I'd take a sighting, someones cat's mother's hamster mentioning it or even someone seen boarding an airplane.

Please don't use this as a vehicle for all and sundry to start this, but Macca is obviously in the know and I trust what he says.

Handy Carroll.

When you chase glory you risk scorn.

we need to sign a winger striker and cm any chance ed? filling these postions i think will get us into the top 4 then we can expect to sign big in the summer the likes of cavani etc but only if we get champions league if we dont it will be another downing! {Ed002's Note - I still expect a signing or two.}

27 Jan 2012 12:04:36
Hard to believe cavani rumour,but stop With réal barca...maybe not CL,but simply WE ARE LIVERPOOL!!the greatest club of the world!plus With Luis and seb we have 2 player who ll make the différence for this transfert!but more chance for a summer move.

27 Jan 2012 12:00:51

Ed or anyone ITK, do you know when the derby game will be played now? Got tickets to my first one and it gets moved! Cant complain too much though we r going to wembley! {Ed001's Note - the date hasn't been decided yet, there are a number of fall back options to move games to, the two clubs just have to agree one now.}

Thanks for the reply ed, hopefully wont be whilst im away! {Ed002's Note - Hopefully, with remission for good behaviour, you will be back in time for the game.}

Extremely stereotypical and bordering on racist response ed 02 ! Fek me this evra things catching !

Hey fellow fans and Ed's last summer I posted on here in regarding me just buying a new lfc top with Bellamy on the back the day after we bought him,anyways I was walking around Liverpool with it on and was greeted with more negative comments than positive ones and now as the saying goes,he who laughs last, laughs loudest,he must be one of the best free signings in a long time and I had faith he would produce, cheers PK

Definately up there in the great free transfers stakes along with Gary Mac and Markus Babbel!

Ed's I have a question for you.

If you could sign any player OUTSIDE of the English & Spanish leagues, who would it be? Any price. I'm just interested to know.

For me it would be Cavani. {Ed002's Note - Luuk De Jong.}

Urm, if we're living in Never, Never land then Messi!
But I do like the look of Cavani - he's built for the premership too...

What a stupid question. Obviously Hazard or Poulsen

My father talks to Raheem Sterlings father at least once a month as they are far out cousins but close friends and he told my father Raheem was told that King Kenny will try to give some promising youngsters a chance near the end of the season if we are too far from 4th spot but will give them a go come next season so dont expect m,assive signings.

Okay, if that is true, you will know where the estate is where he lives. What is it?
(my grandma lives just down the road, and I have seen him various times walking past the front window)

Yeah far out man eh ?? whats a far out cousin

27 Jan 2012 11:46:03
i think its fairly obvious to say our weak links are defensive mid, right wing and striker in the mold of bellamy & suarez, iim sure if there is a good defensive mid like lucas behind charlie adam, gerrard or henderson in the middle they will perform abit better, also if we had a good right winger which i believe toni silva can fill, we will look much faster on the break, unfortunately kuyt and henderson cant do the job there. Bellamy showed us that we actualy look a team with a pace hard working, quality striker up front instead of andy carroll who i believe is our biggest weak link and only disrupts our style of play, on so many occasions without him in the team we actualy look like a team again, if i was kenny i would sell at a loss and replace him with a fast pacy striker.RedTurk

Same sh#t, different day!

Wow RedTurk in an anti-Carroll post. Zzzzzzz

RedTurk you are right

Andy Carroll is clown in football. make me laugh watching him play.

27 Jan 2012 11:40:20
How can the owners say they are happy with the squad and that we will not spend some God given £££? Against City, we needed quality coming off the bench to maintain the tempo of the game. For me, I think we must sign a striker and a winger this January if we want to finish in the top 4. Don't care what some people here say to the contrary. We must these players as a matter of necessity.

27 Jan 2012 11:37:47
We need very good RM or RW to balance the team and take some presure off Downing.Mauricio Isla will do the job.Buy him now and settle for next season.Zaha isnt good enough,Man C will not sell Adam Johnson(in Prem league)

If Carroll form contain we'll need a serious transfer in the summer window and then can talk for Cavani,Soldado,Negredo ...

Cavani will never sign for liverpool he has no intrest in living in england and wants a move to spain.Real will be his most likely destination for 50 million plus if he leaves napoli.

Macca,

Any new transfers news, all this gossip and speculation is driving me insane.

27 Jan 2012 11:32:50
Any doubters should watch this, this lad is pure class,break the bank, get Suarez to have a word, do whatever it takes, coz Suarez and Cavani up front would ruin every defence in the league

Edinson Cavani 2011 - Best Goals
www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCfeNPxtGxM

Just watched and you know what - I like him. He's confident, built for Permieership at 6'2 and knows where the goals is... sad thing is this - it was like watching Andy Carroll for Newcastle at the start of last season.

Yer, but who was supposed to be marking him for the first goal? Poulsen?

27 Jan 2012 11:25:16
if you ever play Football Manager games you always go for the best - not the likes of rodallega or jelavic.

Dalglish says he's happy with the squad he has - is he also saying he's happy with 7th place in the league. i as a Liverpool fan am not happy with this.

He says he has money to strengthen yet also says he doesn't think he needs to. This is insanity, maybe kenny will be taken away by the men in white coats shortly.

This whole window will be a waste and could effectively cost Dalglish his job, because if he doesn't sign anybody and genuinely believes the squad is good then we will end up with nothing at the end of the season and i for one will be calling for kenny's sacking.

@kaptain_kilt

In FM I won the league in my 1st season with this squad. I will become LFC manager, my wages will only be 2k per week. I am a bargain.

I think you should change the i and the l around in kilt to u and n.Thats what you are

27 Jan 2012 11:14:42
I think the way to get the best of out of carrol you should go with him and bellamy up top in a 4-4-2, bellamy will push the defence back which allows carroll to be winning headers deeper intothe oppositions half, and if they play a higher line bellamy can get in behind.

With downing and henderson either side you should get some quality balls in for him, instead of the useless 50yrd long balls played into him all season, Carroll needs the ball stood up into the box and he will win most things in the air.

The only game at Newcastle where i saw he never won most things was fulham, Haangeland domiated him in the air.

Obviously this is til suarez returns then i would just but suarez in for bellamy (suarez is a natural finisher and will find space, similar to carroll and nolan combo but suarez is much better and should find more space and score more)

What do you guys think?

Toon Fan

Sorry mate carroll doesn't suit our style, why dont you ask ashley to put in a bid of £15mil+ and take your championship player back with you, thanks.RedTurk

Ed002,
Not Liverpool banter, but where did you stand / sit at The Bridge back in the day if you don't mind me asking?
Would you like Chelsea to move to a new stadium?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - When I first moved to England (1981) I started going to games as we were living near by and the West Stand was the norm. I have no particular feelings about the stadium.}

Thanks for that ed. I was just reading how complicated the CPO membership was - getting an FA Cup Final ticket if you bought a CPO share !
Some shares possibly owned by touts ?
The legacy of Victorian / Edwardian stadia is very difficult to change.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - There is a list of CPO shareholders but I have no idea how they make a living. The whole CPO issue is a bit of a nonsense now really - it was there as a protection mechanism against the land being sold for redevelopment. That has not been a concern for years and time has come to wrap it up. There are no profiteering opportunities, although perhaps some feel that there are.}

Yes probably, certainly as long as Abramovich remains committed at Chelsea.
There seems to be a fear of what would happen if he were ever to leave though.
A new owner/s could seek to profit on property values in West London. Then do a Wimbledon, re-locate out on the M4 corridor or something.
But that CPO membership is a mess, I agree there. There's thousands of share holders and most of them aren't Chelsea season ticket holders or members.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Mr Abramovic is one of the longest serving Premier League team owners. Should he sell then it may be to some shysters who want to strip the club of all assets. But that is true of most clubs and the league, particularly after issues at Portsmouth and Manchester City, will be pretty stringent with the application of their "fitness" rules. Nobody withing the CPO has suggested that as a reason to keep it running - and I suspect (but am not going to look up) it would be well beyond to remit/terms of reference of the COP.}

Lol, you're a bit touchy on Chelsea matters there ed.
What is interesting, for me, also is how complicated things can be putting too much power in the hands of the 'general domain'. You only have to look on here to see the wide divergence of views and opinions, to understand that would not translate easily to running a football club's strategy.
Give fans a say - yes. But you can never please all of the people all of the time.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Hardly touchy, it was a dumb comment to have to try and respond to. The CPO served the club and fans well but should have been folded some years ago.}

I find it strange when people suggests players won't come to LFC as we don't have CL. Players will move where they can make more money, yes these are usually CL clubs but MCFC were bringing in big names before they had CL. Do we think Torres would have moved to CFC if they didn't offer more money? If CFC fail to qualify next year will Torres and Mata move to a club in CL and get paid less? If we offer big name players better wages they will come, with better players we have more chance of qualifying for CL, simple.

Some will move for the dough

Some will move for the trophies

Some will move for a club's history

Some will move for all of the above

It is different with each player.

BooDaBooze

Problem is we dont have CL and we're not paying the kind of wages they can get at Man C, Chelsea, PSG, etc so we're not looking too appealing for most high-end players

cozinoz

They were paying not better wages but exceptional wages

Very simple. Unless of course we don't then get the cl. And have less income to fund those higher wages. And then go the way of leeds. Mmm, maybe not so some after all.

27 Jan 2012 10:27:54
Just a thought.
There are alot of factors that persuade footballers to move to clubs.
Many footballers, especially those within the Uruaguan national team, would have noticed the remarkable and unwavering support Luis Suarez received from the Liverpool football club, the LFC fans and team mates. Should LFC choose to keep Suarez, this will bode well for Suarez's long term future with the club and influence players decisions to move to Anfield (particularly from Uruaguay).
Whether that be this transfer window or the next.
Good times ahead?

The club should not have supported suarez once he was found guilty.

If they disagreed with the decision and had a valid point they should have appealed, which they didnt, which suggests he was truely guilty

Supporting these views creates problems in the club and may put of many players of a different race/culture from joining this club as they backed suarez

Mancini and Man City didn't agree with Balottelli's sending off! But did not appeal? Reason? There's no point? The Fa is a closed shop run by middle class middle aged cretins.
Liverpool fc did not appeal because there was no point? There was no one willing to listen? No point?

Have you not read anything about this issue? Your conclusion is that of kindergarten intellect. The whole thing was a farce from start to finish and the only person who gained anything (I'm sure he thinks) is old whiskey nose, who made sure it went the distance. Try listening to John Barnes as an example.

Nijland, of FC Groningen just claimed that at 14:00 there will be an important press statement. (13:00 UK)

I can only see it regarding David Texeira but it could be saying he is staying put or something else uninteresting for lfc fans.

*Although its Friday and everyone's feeling a bit of FRIDAY MAGIC here*

Also, in my opinion he would have a bit part role this season, don't expect him to slot straight into the first team and bang 10 goals away.

Kenny will surely start Suarez and Bellamy in a 442 then bring Carroll on at 65 mins to go 451

YNWA

I have absolutely no information, but you can see the sense in LFC announcing something today - the day before the big Utd game.
That would give everyone a little lift.
That would be the politician's way.

I love it! Transfer window about to close so now all of a sudden we got Cavani in the bag! Brilliant. Heard his mate Lavezzi is going to come to, and fortunately neither of them want much money which is perfect.

Gerrard is on 150k a week so why all this "we cant afford the wages" Surely its the decision of the owners how much we pay players and nobody on here knows that. City cant afford to pay the wages from there normal revenues either. {Ed002's Note - But Manchester City have an owner that cares not at all about money. Liverpool have responsible owners.}

When you have 32,000 Million like the man city sheik and your personal assets grew by 4,000 Million last year who cares about footballers wages.

Henry has less than 600 million

viva la difference!

Ed002- sorry but even our owners have spent silly money on the likes of downing, carrol ( in particular) and henderson, im sure if they feel we have a chance of a star player it can happen.RedTurk {Ed002's Note - I am not going through this again - it is entirely futile.}

Eds, just a question. If Arsenal or Chelsea win the Champions League, however unlikely that may be, would the Premier League get 5 spots instead of 4? I know the winner gets an automatic return. So if say Arsenal finished 5th but won, would the top 4 still go to CL or is it only 4 from PL? {Ed002's Note - No, only four.}

If Arsenal or Chelsea win the PL

The club stated it has got money to spend and did spend 35 million on Carroll so surely if Cavani was available for 45 million they would be interested given he is young and would have resale value if he fires at Liverpool, not saying we will bid for him because he's likely to go to Madrid when he does leave just thinking the club may go for him if any rumours were true

Get real! What sort of sell on value is he gonna have if you buy him for £45 million?

And what sort of sell on fee will caroll get after buying for 35 million?? dont talk rubbish

I really hope the rumours about Cavani are true,
but we need to have a fairy god mother, instead of FSG as owners to get him. I would say though, that Suarez is a much better player than Cavani. Of course it is difficult to compare players who are so different in style. But I think Suarez is absolutely world class at what he does and has been a great buy for Liverpool. Any other thoughts on this one? Who's better,
Suarez or Cavani?

Can't wait for tomorrow's game got my suarez face mask they will be everywhere evra will have nightmares ha...

And Liverpool's already tarnished image will be dragged further into the gutter...ha

Hope this comment is not typical of most liverpool fans, would like to think most are bigger than this and can see this is not a liverpool vs man utd or suarez vs evra issue but a problem in the game. Supporting a player who made a racist comment is just wrong

{Ed002's Note - Stupidity is what will be worrying the club of course. Everyone should just get on with the game and not get involved in trying to be provocative, it could easily back fire.}

Omg! It's just about supporting one of our star players, that's all. I'm getting one, it'll be good for a laugh!

It clearly isn't about supporting a star player when you choose to wear them in a game he would be playing and against man utd and evra, pathetic fan, you would be of the fans shouting racist abuse from the terraces i take it?

So now we can't have a sense of humour. That's all it is a sense of humour; Wear the mask and support Suarez. I 'm not racist and 99.9% of Football fans are not? hi guys great website. hopefully a win tomorrow but i'm concerned about who will start the game. we played on Wednesday and the players only have two days rest (compared to man utd which they had a week). i just find it unfair, also we play wolves next week and they would have two weeks rest. i hope it doesn't effect the players. also i hope bellamy starts because he is one of our best players. what do u guys think?. thanks and ynwa.

If you're a professional footballer you love to play football (except in the case of AC), 2 games in the space of a week barring injuries should not be a problem.

As for wolves not playing in a long time that can be a detriment and not a blessing.

Depends on your perspective?

Really hope Bellamy starts too but I can't see it he's started the last two I think his knees need more rest but only the staff will know.

Square tomato

Obviously its not good. players cant play every three days. you can do once but to do it twice is very difficult. I think players like Reina,Johnson, Agger, Enrique, Downing need to rest for Unitd game. they have so many players out, we can still match them

miccmak

I have to say I'm getting very concerned for manchester united and their injuries:
Nani injured?
Is Evra also injured?
I read today Rooney is injured?
Jones is also injured?
correct me if this is incorrect information.
Also their goal keeper is dodgy,
Carrick vs Gerrard in midfield...
I was hoping it would be a good game of football, but it's looking more and more like Anfield is going to be a manc slaughter house tomorrow.

Hope Owen plays. He's crap.

cozinoz

This is typical fergie 'mind games' - there's always reports of doubts about players before the manu games, but they're always fit on the day. 'Late fitness test' anyone?

Worry about our team not theirs. What they do is up to them.

If anyone's missing it should be Evra - should've seen red against Arsenal, if not for the deliberate hand ball in the penalty area then for that shocking tackle from behind where he pretended to be hurt.

Hi Eds,
Can you tell me what exactly Suarez was charged with,the media over here in Ireland still say that he racially abused Evra,I thought he was not charged with racial abuse but aggravated abuse ! {Ed002's Note - There were two charges. He was charged with misconduct for a breach of FA Rule E3 specifically that he used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards Evra contrary to Rule E3(1).
The second charge was that his beahiur in breach of Rule E3(1) included a reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race of Evra within the meaning of Rule E3(2).}

So he was abusive. And he also made a reference to ethnic origin.... {Ed002's Note - We are not opening this up again. Read the independent report if you want to know more.}

This is what Alan Hansen has said about Liverpool and there transfers. Really great perspective, well worth the read.

"Dalglish's management and transfer business has been closely scrutinised in recent weeks but it is time to put some of the criticism into context.

Jose Enrique has been superb at left-back for £6m, while Craig Bellamy has been a revelation. He was sensational against City, an incredible example of how to look after yourself at 32 and show the right attitude as well as quality.

Liverpool paid £35m to sign Andy Carroll and I recall him looking unplayable when he scored Newcastle's winner at Arsenal last season. He was unbeatable in the air and quick on the deck.

He was injured when he arrived at Liverpool, has struggled not only for confidence but also touch and is not leaving anyone for dead any more. Others will know whether it is a question of fitness or confidence, but Dalglish was right to keep playing him until it became clear he was not getting any better and left him out against City.

Everyone will be working and supporting him behind the scenes to try and find that elusive form he showed on Tyneside, but there is no getting away from the fact that Liverpool look a better team without him.

I really believe Stewart Downing has it in him to be a world-beater. In the early stages on Wednesday he had Micah Richards backing off and backing of. Let me tell you there are only so many players who can do that to him.

With the ability he has he should be a world-beater but he is not. This has to come from somewhere, but there is a real talent in there and it is obvious Dalglish has great belief in him.

I have no worries whatsoever about Jordan Henderson. He is a fine young player who breaks things up, gets from box to box and can pick a pass. And, while Charlie Adam's form has dipped in the last six or eight weeks, he possesses real quality.

The phrase 'work in progress' is the important one because Kenny has been back 12 months and is trying to integrate five or six new players into the side. Unless you are very lucky, this does not happen without a few bumps along the way.

And when you walk through the doors at Anfield these days there is a chasm of difference in the mood from what it was before my old team-mate and manager came back. Liverpool are a work in progress but supporters are going back to the ground now expecting to be entertained again.

This is what makes the draws, defeats like those at Bolton, and the struggle for goals such a frustration for Dalglish and everyone connected with Liverpool. Liverpool have shown they can beat and live with the best and yet they have not got results against other sides.

Liverpool are still quite a way off the top four but if they cannot achieve that then a piece of silverware is always important. I still believe a return to the Champions League is the big priority, but if they remain outside the top four then a trophy is the perfect way to show you are making progress."

Great points, sorry bout the cut and paste guys. So how about we get behind them all now eh? Lets have Andy firing like he was at Newcastle.

Platini he's not a great player he's not even a good player, am I right John?

Summed up perfectly.

Downing needs to perform more, he had the potential at Villa, but has also failed to live up to his price tag. Caroll did not want to leave Newcastle, his family and friends and probably was not ready for the move. 35 mil was a massive amount for an injured player... but Liverpool have a history of paying over the odds for injured players... Rafa did for a certain Italian.

Alan Hansen has a unique ability to talk rubbish. Some of his clangers include:-

"I don't think anyone enjoyed it. Apart from the people who watched it."

"You'll win nothing with kids" (shortly before the mancs did exactly that.

Does anyone have any idea where i can get tickets for the final for please? I've never seen Liverpool live and live closer to Wembley than Anfield currently, so would like to take the chance to go

Carb {Ed016's Note - www.liverpoolfc.tv keep and eye on Thomas cook and if not then e-bay or other online football ticket vendors, but do your research there are a lot of scams, if you go down to the ground match day with a couple of grand in your pocket you could get a ticket that way too.......but I would not condone that. I mean who just has a couple of grand in their pocket that could go to the final.....apart from Balotelli}

Find someone who is club wembley and does not want to go - they are entitled to official tickets for all games - the only problem is the current price is £400 plus a 15% service charge

It wouldnt be a hard for Liverpool to look at players that arent in the euro tournament or at euro teams that Didnt qualify .... It would be easier to sign those players ... Players like podolski woul be amazon for Liverpool but wont move because of euros... So south American and players not in euro would be the best way for Liverpool to he a quality player ... YNWA

Are you saying that LFC will buy Podolski on amazon?

Lads if anything has been proved on wed night we have a squsquad more than capable of competing with the big clubs the prob is getting the players to perform against the lower teams, hence picking the right system to suit our players, our biggest weakness is right full, Johnson ain't good enough, Micah Richards is one player if poss we should break the bank for, also a right winger, give carrol Adam Henderson a chance remember Lucas took a long time to get on good terms with the fans,

Remember Lucas was a attacking midfield player when he was in Brasil, U21 captain for his country. When came to LFC he had a lot learn, different style of football, different midfield roll, language. Andy didnt have much to change and is still very poor, I can't see him getting any better soon. We must buy a striker now

City will never let Richards come to us.

We Have Kelly, why spend money on Richards or any right back

Kelly is not that good mate, he's overrated by people on here.

Johnson is by far the better right back however Johnson is not liked by some for their own reasons and some "followers" go along with that without ever stopping to think about it likewise Gerrard and Carra suffer the same, does not matter what they do.

Why would Richards halve his wages and drop from the PL's top team. Youre dreaming.

i was someone who for a minute thought torres maybe back but obviously not and i came across an interview he had a while back with marca newspaper, which confirmed to me he aint setting foot at anfield in a red shirt ..so if i hear anymore incredible stories of his return i wont br reading ..here it is ...

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres brands Liverpool a 'selling club' and had considered leaving for some time
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres heaped more criticism on his former club, Liverpool, describing them as a "selling club" and claiming that the protracted change of ownership caused "chaos".

Putting the boot in: Fernando Torres was not prepared to wait for Liverpool to rekindle their glory days
In a revealing interview with the Spanish newspaper Marca, Torres reiterated his belief that he was right to leave Liverpool in the January transfer window for £50 million, and said that he had been considering leaving as early as 2009.

"It was a decision I had mulled over for a long time," the former Atletico Madrid player said. "I had made up my mind a long time before.

"In the summer in which Xabi Alonso left, I started to wonder. When reinforcements didn't arrive, I started to wonder if Liverpool was the club its history suggests, or if it was in fact a selling club.

"What other teams could I have gone to? I couldn't go to Manchester United out of respect for Liverpool. Or Real Madrid, because of my past. I don't think Barcelona needed anyone. I didn't like the idea of Italy. Chelsea were the only club left. There was only one option.

"And then suddenly, the opportunity appeared. It was like a light bulb coming on in a long, dark passageway. I thought that the six months left at Liverpool this season would feel like three years."

Torres also cast more light on the reasons why he left Anfield, and implied that the club had been less than honest with him over their plans for the future.

"I knew I was an idol for the Liverpool fans, but it wasn't the same anymore," he said. "The institution was in chaos with the sale.

"There was all this talk of possible projects. People aren't honest in the world of football. You can't say the truth or be clear with people. It's a business and nobody is anyone's friend.

"In many ways it reminded me of Atletico Madrid — a great history, many ideas but without money. It needed time. I don't have that."

Torres, 26, is yet to score in the five games since his move from Chelsea. By contrast, his first goal for Liverpool came in his second Premier League game in August 2007 — coincidentally, against Chelsea.

But Torres said that he was still adapting to his new role, and described Chelsea's squad as more "professional" than Liverpool.

"There are better personal relations and more jokes between the players at Chelsea than at Liverpool, where everything is a lot more serious. Here you don't have to demonstrate that you are a professional, it's taken as the minimum," he said.

"Winning trophies is all they care about here and, for me, the Champions League is the dream, no doubt. After having won the European Championship and the World Cup, it's the main challenge left.

"Obviously I want to win the Premier League too. It's one of the great prizes in the game and I honestly think that we will win more than one while I am here."

Still would have him back

S {Ed016's Note - Get over it! he is never going to win anything again, he has lost his bottle, his mojo, he is done, gone and dusted. Let him realise his mistake, people make them and have to deal with it.}

He sounds to me like a young player whose soul was crushed by the inept ownership of Parry and Hicks + Gillett. Disillusioned with football, seeing it as a business; that's not the outlook of a happy footballer

See, and people want more of these kind of players to sign for the club, players that only want a leg up in their careers. Although some of what he said had some substance to it, given the old owners and all that jazz, but i thought he had a little more class than this.
We want players that are willing to play for the club, not for themselves.

Red7.

He doesn't ignite any sympathy with me. I'm happy he's not scoring at Chelsea and I hope he regrets leaving LFC and if he would kindly do the right thing and beg to come back and apologise for his 'bigger club' statement, I would be the first of thousands to tell him to p*ss off.

I wonder if Abromavic knows Torres only went there because they were the "only option" !! KBL
