when talking do you think brodge or bredge is a good short name for BR, because, well i want to be credited for giving him a nickname. come on this might be the closest i get to being famous. E.P.G. (Ellesmere Port Gary) p.s. after mercer and jones, i'd be the most famous person from the Port

If he gets us into the top 4 mate. You can call him Susie if you want.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

His nickname is 'Buck' .

It may just be me but I find it so boring and frustrating hearing people moan on and on about the likes of Downing and Adam.

Time and time we hear about how Adam keeps losing the ball and can't play; his arse is fat blah blah blah, but in all honesty he had one poor season (which wasn't even that bad) and now so called supporters saying he can't pass even!
What the hell! His passing is what largely got him recognised. Even Alex Ferge said his cross was worth £8 million alone.

I'm not saying he will prove to be a Liverpool Legend but knocking his attributes is silly. You may disagree but for starters he has (when able to take regularly) a far better free kick than Gerrard and cross as good also, but he rarely got to take a pop. His passing range is as good also.

Downing did have a bad year yes but again it is not his fault we paid over the odds for him, but he does have some excellent attributes and if he stays i do believe some people will eat their words

Gareth

Charlie Adam was fantastic up until that Arsenal game, after that everyone ended up playing badly apart from Andy who kicked on. Downing, on the other hand had a terrible season and really, if we can get 10 million for him we should take it because he will definitely not fit into Brendan's system.

BthekingB

Fergie said his set pieces were worth 10m but still didn't match our bid of 6m to buy him. He was clearly on a windup.

Ash

Ha , when you compered Adam to Stevie G , your post lost all sense .
redforever

Yup! It's just u cuz Adam is doo doo!

Clearly 0 goals 0 assists proves downing has some good attributes. If it was one of rafas signing bet money you'll be barking like a dog

Since when do you care what Fergie says? He can say whatever he wants, he's a cheat and a manipulator, that's what he is!

HK

Fergie says alot of things....

Gary gillispie (spelling) compared him to alonso lol.

27 Jul 2012 20:50:29
can i just say to all of the posters that are complaining about the lack of signings should think that man city the club that have almost unlimited money have not signed any players yet so be patient!
pato108

Maybe because getting there current players on new contracts is the priority.

27 Jul 2012 20:35:07
{Ed022's Note - There has been a brand new Player Profile posted on Lazar Markovic, a young striker from Serbia. Recent reports suggest that Liverpool may well hold an interest in him, but I myself remain unsure on how strong that interest is. He's a very up and coming young player, so hopefully you'll all check it out, drop a comment and visit the site. www.player-profiles.co.uk - cheers all!}

27 Jul 2012 20:31:53
Lets give our new manager a break the seasons not even started hopefully another few quality signings coming in and hopefully we can compete top
4 again but he needs time. No disrespect to kenny (legend always will be) but spent alot of money with no real impact. this is only my thoughts as a reds lifelong fan. true red

I think Kenny could have spent the money better too mate. But Comolli and Ayre have to take some blame. They are the ones who overpaid for them.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. I can't believe Ian Ayre is still our MD???

Why blame every thing on kenny when its clear they don't want to pay big wages do you think kenny could buy cavani or higuin listen these were kenny`s first choice

Mario gomez or fernando Llorente but got carroll
Ashley young but got downing
Phil jones but got sebastian coates
And they are on a very cheap wages if fans want to see quality players then owners should atleast pay decent wages or else same will happen with rodgers when we won't finish in top4 everybody will be blaming rodgers for not buying quality player to qualify for champions league

Reality red

Phil Jones? lol

What nonsesne...what was KK thinking we he pumped 20 mill for downing?? 16 mill for hendo? and 35 mill for Caroll...
pls admitt...KK screwed our money last year...Irrespective of whatever he is with us...

27 Jul 2012 19:11:45
Hi Ed's! Awesome site!
If west ham are successfull with the Andy Carroll bid.
Do u think another striker will be bought in?
If so u do u think?
Cheers {Ed001's Note - yes.}

That reads as ed01 being our replacement striker!

Over in USA following The Reds on their US tour, currently in Jersey driving to Baltimore. Anyway, watched the lads train at Harvard Uni and also at Fenway Park...and judging from players body language and general attitude toward fans etc...it seems a few players will be leaving. Adam, Carroll and Skrtel didn't look too interested with fans. Joe Cole, Pacheco and Aquilani seemed like they'll be given a chance...nice lads who took time to sign autographs. Lucas was a top lad too...good to see him back after all the grief he was given...

Can you really gauge whether a player will leave a club based on time spent giving autographs?

Right so you think players will stay or leave because of the way they interact with fans, genius

Haha,
I'm sorry, but your post kind of cheered me up a bit. I had a giggle to myself.

27 Jul 2012 19:45:53
Why do posters keep on saying we lost out to Hoilett? Where is there ANY proof that we was slightly interested in him? Fans choose the players that they themselves rate and just take it for granted that they are such footballing experts that Liverpool must feel the very same way, it's absolutely rediculous!

MR EM

Apparently it's a good deal too - ignoring the massive compensation Blackburn are due. It's far from a free transfer.

Yeah unfortunately we also missed out on edin and thorgan hazard, marko marin, kagawa. last window we also missed out on fabragas.

So thats Michael Turner, Freddie Sears, Clinton Morrison, Marcus Bean, Youl Mawene and Alexander Hleb we've missed out on??!?!?!? WHEN R WE GUNNA SIgn SUM PLAYAZ???!?! OMFG! Get yur act togevva Bredon Radgerrs... ynwa.

This HAS to be the most rediculous post i've read for SO many reasons!

GET YOR ACT TOGEVVVA!!

MR EM

Why would we want any of the players you've just mentioned?

I think you may have missed the irony, mr em

Someone really needs to invent a sarcasm font...

At the minute it is hard to detect any Irony on this site given the amount of moronic posts and repeated questions.

What's going on with Dempsey and Allen (I'm guessing Allen is up in the air again because Swansea got there knickers in a twist.)

Most Fifa fans are now taking the daily fails word on the Ramirez it's clear that's bull.

Is there any other players in the crosshairs?

Knickers in a twist?? Liverpool went back on their word not to sign Swansea players for 12 month. Suppose that shows your class as a club though.

Fair point i guess? But what club do you support? I could only presume they have some potentially nasty stuff hidden in their closet

gareth

No one knows the full details of the agreement and what is actually written. undoubted loophole for brendan rodgers to approach huw jenkins and discuss joe allen.

Who have we signed from Swansea?

cozinoz

27 Jul 2012 18:19:54
With rennes lowering their asking price for yann m'villa to £11m do u br might sneek in a bid?

If this is true and we sign Allen for more i'll absolutely lost.

He wants to go to Arsenal ( CL football )

27 Jul 2012 18:00:17
Gerrard says we are Liverpool we can't finish..........

8th again.

27 Jul 2012 16:51:13
Do u think the next signings for lpool depend on the Carroll situation {Ed002's Note - Much will depend on departures, but not all.}

27 Jul 2012 16:42:04
Dampsy + cash for Carroll coming soon.

red-don

I doubt Carroll would go to Fulham

Red Ollie

I hope he actually stays and tells them all to f off. We treat players so badly at this club, no wonder no-one wants to come.

'Dampsy' made me smile

Again tell me when BR said carroll was leaving ?

27 Jul 2012 16:39:31
As long as we sign one of ramirez/jovetovic/munian then he can sign any other average over priced player he wants and i'll still be happy. One of those alone would make us a champions league contender.

LG

So you believe the other ten players on a team doesnt matter?

On sky and bbc website with quotes from Fiorentina that Jovetic won't be sold this season and four prem clubs were interested, chavs and arsenil mentioned presume Liverpool and manky city the others. Redevon

Because a superstar makes a team....

Tristan

Dont think any of them are coming to be honest!

If carroll leave then we may go for jovetic

It really ddint matter last season...somewher around 6 were awful in every matches...

No I mean i'll be happy with our summer signings, our squad I feels only lacks that one creative quality attacker and we'll have a champions league line up.I didnt say at any stage that that one player could win he game himself, but he would complete our team if you know what i mean.

LG

LG did you forget about suarez and gerrard

Hello fellow Liverpool fans,

Brendan Rodgers will certainly make a move for Joe Allen after the Olympic games. Meaning a central / creative midfielder will leave.

QPR are strongly interested in Craig Bellamy, and with our options limited in the wing, Brendan will surely have to make a move for at least 2 wingers (since Kuyt and Maxi have left)

Thoughts? Thanks.

We will play 433 so suarez, borini and downing can play those roles but yes i think we are very short in that area and would expect at least one more.

Please lord!! Anyone with pace and who can beat a man!!

We don't buy pacy skillful wingers at LFC. Sterling is the great red hope...

How can Downing play in a front 3? He can't score? "couldn't hit a cows ass with a banjo" 433 has to have the front 3 all capable of at least 15 goals each in a season! At Least?
kidmillions

Raheem Stirling and Daniel Pacheco could do a job there. Redevon

Pacheco I agree with.
Stirling isnt ready for a full premiership campaign.

How did ed019 become a Ed on this site. He's like 17 lol {Ed019's Note - Well if you know about LFC then it doesn't matter how old you are does it?}

Well put ed019...

The horror! And here I thought all of the Eds wore bowlers, had handlebar mustaches, used a cane and walked around saying 'indubitably'.

Welcome to the World Wide Web, OP.

If your 'ed' enough...your old enough

You're the man Ed019. I'm 19 myself and age doesn't matter when it comes to supporting your team. YNWA!
Furqan.

And your like how old? 10?

What, only 17?! Let's get our pitchforks out and chase him off the site.
What a fool lol

Well put Ed. Now, hurry up and get to bed before your ma comes in as it's getting a little late.

Must be true then. Thanks for that.

27 Jul 2012 15:54:16
apart from Torres can anyone name a centre forward LIVERPOOL have bought in the last 20 years that has actually done the biz cos i f***ken can't,i can name plenty that haven't though.

It all depends on your point of view on the business, we have had strikers that havent been that good but scored massive goals, case and point sinama and mellor vs olympiakos, for me that is the business, scoring important goals that lead to success, oh and lets not forget its a team game

Sean Dundee?

Jari litmanen was the best

May get quite a few people hitting the disagree button but Crouchy and Heskey weren't exactly poor for us.

Tristan

Robbie fowler......you may have heard of him......paisley's genius

Mellor came through the system i think and i dont think pongolle was an out and out striker

When i said ""done the biz" i meant scored on a regular basis and was consistant .mellor and pongo weren't successes mainly because they didn't play much, not there fault I know

Peter Crouch kept banging them in,and his birds a scoucer with tits.

Agree Diego, I think king luis has been a hit meself
FowlerisGod

Eehr don't think we bought robbie god fowler

Heskey went a season and a half scoring four,i liked crouch but rafa messed him around so wasn't a success

We had Heskey :p

Red Raw

Eric Mejer was outstanding.

Stan Collymore?

Is anyone else getting sick of Gerrard buliding our seasons up and then we always fail?

Today he said ''I do think we will get in the top four, I think we will get it, I am confident we will get it. I am not been unrealistic, We cant finish eighth again, The manager has made me aware of what he's trying to do, Im really impressed with him''

Gerrard in 2010 ''We all know Roys credintials speak for themselves, Obviously top four and back in the Champions league is where we want to be, I think we can do it, Roy has been great with me so far and im really impressed with him since he's come in''

Gerrard in 2011 ''Kenny has come back in and we all know what he can do, He knows the club inside out and he knows we belong in the top four, I believe we can get back in the champions league with kenny back in charge, i know we can, Its like he's never left and ive been really impressed with him since he's come back''

Gerrard just says the same gibberish every season, He gets all our hopes up and then we fail miserably, Im sick of it. Rodgers promised us an ''exciting'' player then he signs borini. Its a joke. We need to realise we are not gonna be back in the champions league for a good few seasons, We cant attract top players anymore, Hense the reason we signed borini and were going for average players like allen and dempsey. ramirez will 100% not sign for us. Suarez will be off to Juventus after hearing with Ceceras has been saying. Next season is gonna be a hrad one. We dont need to be lied to by our captain every season, I just makes it harder every season. Keith YNWA

Completely agree, Its getting embarrassiing at this stage. Greg

I'm usually very chilled about other peoples opinions, after all this is a banter page.

HOWEVER you sir make me sick !

The CAPTAIN of MY team is "lying"
What would you like him to say . ." we wont do well, can't compete and end up mid table or worse.

It's called being optimistic, having faith and confidence. Whatever your feelings are about our future you get behind the team and support them.

A very angry ( and refraining from using some colourful language )

Mr Slonk The Red

YNWA

Bit harsh on the captain, I think. Part of the job requires being a positive influence. I suppose he could come out and say "Yeah, BR is a nice guy, I suppose. Perhaps we'll make it in the top 10." but that wouldn't exactly exude enthusiasm would it?

Rodgers didn't promise us anything about an 'exciting' player. He said (off the record) that he was looking at a player who the fans would find exciting. Completely different thing and either way it's heresay, so largely irrelevant.

You're somewhat correct about 'top players', although much depends on your definition of 'top players'. We can attract them, we just can't afford them at the moment and the cash rich clubs such as PSG, Chelsea, Man City, etc. aren't helping much either.

With no CL for a few seasons and an insanely high wage bill relative to our league position, the club can't go all out and spend crazy money and wages on "top players" (unless perhaps a few are sold first) until the club becomes a bit more solvent financially.

Sometimes a bit of optimism can make the difference between a draw and a win or a loss and draw, so how about we support the team we have, not the one we wish we had?

RDL

Jesus Christ posts like this do my absolute nut. Do you not think maybe Stevie is just backing his managers? A lesson I think a fair few folks on here could follow.

Would you prefer if he came out and said "tbh lads we're total s**t the last few years and don't have a rats chance in hell of getting back in the champions league?

An also Rodgers never promised anything. He is reported to have told some journo off the record that the fans will e excited by a new signing. That doesn't mean he's going to go out and by Cavani.

davethebutcher

Yeah, I want Gerrard to say 'We've got absoulutely no chance of doing anything this season, Rodgers hasn't got a clue what he's doing, we are looking to buy average players and I think we will finish 10th. I don't really know why we're bothering really'

HM

You are both wrong

He's not lying, he's giving his opinion. Gerrard has something called "optimism". You should google it.

Red Ollie

He says what I exactly want to hear as a fan. I wouldn't want him coming out and saying we have no chance

How can you slate a player up for thinking he can achieve? What sort of reaction would be get if he came out and said we were looking at a mid table finish at best? I think your anger is being aimed in the wrong direction, son. How pi**ed do you think he feels that we have finished 8th? You think you hate it, I bet he hates it more. I am happy that he thinks we can achieve something this year. Weather he believes it or not is a different question!

Nick

I expect you would have wanted him to tell you there was no chance of winning after 45 mins in Istanbul to eh , we are supporters of LFC that means regardless of anything we sing as a team win as a team lose as a team and we never walk alone if Steven says he feels we can get top 4 i for one will have faith with every fibre of my body we can
if you would rather be part of the problem go support Chelsea and be another bitchy FAN we want supporters

I think Fabio will be exciting to watch.
We can't just rely on the 'strikers' for goals though, the rest of the team needs to contribute as well.
Nuff Said.

27 Jul 2012 16:27:55
Joe Allen is about ball retention. plays the simple ball without being spectacular, and keeps possession.Would you all prefer adam style passes, losing possession constantly. Football is a simple game, keep the ball and you have more chances of scoring. Give it away and you dont. I for one hope he signs as he will most certainly improve the side.
FowlerisGod

If we have 20% possession every game and still win I wouldnt care

20 percent /given that the ball is only in play for about an hour out of the 90 min, this would give liverpool 12 min with the ball per game.if you think fans would stump up cash to watch that you can think again.go back to the stoke pages.

red jay

I would prefer allen to adam for sure. But when we already have adam and aqualani, why pay 15 mill for allen who is just passes the ball from one defender to the next. I would pay 15 mill for some creativity or a good DM.

How much creativity would we have in
midfield 3 with LUCAS and ALLEN in there,
the forwards would be starved.......if FSG
want to play with the BIG BOYS they
have to start acting like a big boy and
COMPETE........over to you FSG......

auntie annie......

To the 20% possession guy... so you enjoyed watching Houlliers teams did you. Yes I was as happy as the next guy winning the trophies but seriously your telling me that you paided to watch Heskey or Owen alone up front and enjoyed that? hmmm... I feel in love with my team LFC watching Molby, Beardsley, Barnes running games and yes winning too... I didnt fall in love watching 20% possession and a break away goal! That said i will support my team no matter what!

Dude agree...but 15 mill to cover lucas??..thats incredible...is gerrard and lucas enough for any team for the CM???

Lay of adam for gods sake. He is one of the best passers in the premiership!
He had a badish season but suggesting he can't pass is stupid and blind of people.
Okay he may choose not to always play the simple pass but GOOD! If you have a pinpoint long ball pass which goes exactly where it should Rodgers will not moan about it. Its called being creative isn't it.
Barcelona also play long balls too you know
gareth

Agree with the last poster the win against Arsenal with Owens two late goals was embarrassing. We won yeah! but not the Liverpool way. Never want to go back to that. It was awful to watch.
kidmillions

The liverpool way died many years ago. Tell me waht the liverpool way is, possession football? Thats every team that is worth its weight is about. Dont give the ball away cheapily, simple

Junior hoilett to QPR,come on pull ya fingers out,we need to be signing these players,he cold have done a decent job for us !! :(

So, you would of loved Hoilett instead of Ramirez? Hypothetically speaking..

No we dont need to be signing these players they arent good enough do you not think he would have gone to a bigger club than qpr, get your head in the game dude

Decent job on 80k a week

He wanted something like £70k a week and he's not worth that much, even without a transfer fee. That's why every team bigger than QPR passed on him.

Honestly, people complain about how overpriced Downing and Carroll were and yet want us to pay a player who's shown a few flashes here and there £3.5m a year?

Can't win.

- Something Red -

Don't be silly.

Yeah 20k a week players will win the league nowadays...
Hoilett is a pacy skillful player, guess not lfc type player hey?

So the more you pay someone the better they are? That's a good one. Let's triple Downing's wages so he'll turn into John Barnes.

Hoilett IS a £20k a week player. He's just one that happens to think he's worth a lot more than that and got someone to pay him what he wanted. That QPR are paying him £70k a week doesn't make him good.

Honestly, we've been burned paying absurd wages to "free" players before, and now people want us to do it again? Because the guy can run fast?

Jesus...

Has andy carrol bid from
West ham bin accepted or rejected ?

Basy

27 Jul 2012 16:08:56
Joe Allen looks a dead cert to sigh for us.
Cint Dempsey looks like he may stay at the cottage, because of Fulham's high fee demand.
Yet again the papers are linking us with the talented midfielder Gaston Ramirez. Please be true this time.
We are starting to be linked with less people each week and the only recurring rumours are of Allen, Dempsey and Ramirez. Ed's do you beieve that we could sign these players. Preferably i would love Allen and Ramirez. We could be looking at top 4 if we get these 2 and if we keep our team together.

Dorset Red {Ed019's Note - Dempsey will almost definitely leave Fulham}

For me..we should have had the targets and get them by hook or crook..
gaston ramirez...exellent business at 17 mill..then ship downing out..for some money..
matias suarez.or mirallas..incredible it will be...ship andy caroll to get some money..
dempsy..would be a good business..
already shipped maxi and kuyt..
allen 10 mill...and ship koe cole..
this will give us CL next year..with a limited budget...

Patience; Dempsey will arrive? it will just take time for Fulham to feel comfortable with their own signings?

Liverpool will reject any offer that does not see Carroll leave on a permanent deal for a fee in region of 20m.

Nuri Sahin has just being told that he will be sold. Think we could go all in on this opertunity. And i have a feeling that rodgers might go for it!

- EmilDenmark

He's joined arsenal on loan

No heasnt joined them

If we sign him we will have to pay an inflated transfer fee for an injury prone midfielder on 80k a week minimum who has only proven himself playing in the bundesliga for dortmund and the everdise for feyenoord (spelling). there are better options out there.

Eds, two rumours breaking recently, Kjaer and Amorebieta. Do you know if it's just paper talk or are we now stepping up pursuit of defenders because Skrtel is likely to leave?

27 Jul 2012 14:35:22
eds, are we on the verge of signing MITCH from the plaza international team? brilliant keeper.

Hes a very good keeper.......any chance he will join us eds?

Is this true eds? im abit confused on why we would sign someone from a plaza international team?

i have googled it and nothing comes up

27 Jul 2012 14:34:18
So as the rumours of Skrtel to Man City grow stronger who do we consider as a good replacement if he was to leave? The agent of Fernando Amorebieta has confirmed we are interested in the defender, would be relatively cheap also. Simon Kjaer is also a very decent option. Mapou Yanga-Mpiwa also looks very decent. What do ye think? Who are the others around? Musacchio of Villareal maybe?
The Gooch

I think Dede would be a good option. We need a strong defender to replace Skrtel.
Any chance Eds ? {Ed049's Note - no idea}

27 Jul 2012 14:26:46
To be honest I really don't have a problem with Skrtel going.
For 20mil even better.

Up until last season he was a liability , poor positioning which led to penalties and dangerous free kicks.

Last season he played well , but he was still caught out a lot of times.

Think we could easily replace him using only half the money which we receive for him.

Allen looks a good prospect , I know the fee looks a lot but if we got rid of downing and Adam that would cover the cost.

LAVERS

Lavers, spot on with that one. I've been thinking the same, he's had more bad seasons than last years good one. Easily replaced in my eyes.
Andy the red

I agree Lavers. Personally, I'd put Kelly in with Aggers, bring Allen in as cover for Lucas sitting in front of the two centre Halfs and go all out to bring in Gaston Ramirez to provide some much added flair up front behind Suarez and Borini.

Hi there,

I know your probably fed up with all the suarez and ramirez bull..

but ive had a little look using the search option but couldnt really find what i was looking for..

My question isnt will he or wont he join or anything like that.. but if it were the case that suarez leaves....
and there is any chance of us buying ramirez , do you thing suarez's decision on his future would effect ramirez decision to join liverpool

cheeers
^ {Ed002's Note - I would doubt it.}

27 Jul 2012 14:16:02
with all this ramirez talk, I Didnt get to see him play yesterday and have not seen much of the italian league to be honest. Just wondering what position he mainly plays in. Do you see him more of an attacking midfielder or as a winger.

He can play CAM just behind the striker, or on either side of the front 3. His preferred role is CAM judging by yesterday's performance but he looks quite versatile to me.

Robbie Fowler was approached by "Newco" Rangers to play for them next season, but he flatly turned it down due to wanting to play a higher standard of football, and wages of just £1000pw were offered. He is hoping to get a team at championship level, but is also open to being part of the coaching staff at Liverpool.

Lets face it FSG just do not have the money to own a club like liverpool. Buying average players will make no difference. We have sold kuyt and maxi and replaced them with hot air. Others are improving and LFC are aiming lower and lower. The owners are reducing the wage bill so we cant afford top players till we sell.

That's odd- I was pretty sure FSG did buy LFC, so therefore they must have enough money to own it.

As opposed to whom? All those other prospective owners, who were queuing up to buy us at a bargain basement price, when H & G were about to take us into administration.

Much of the financial inflation in football has been commodity fuelled, which traditionally has always been cyclical. Once this cycle ends, which it inevitably will, it will be very interesting to see who, if anybody, will take over the mantle at City, Chelsea, PSG, etc. If nobody does, then it is likely that we will all be grateful to have benefited from the financial prudence of our current owners.

Booms inevitably end in busts, the bigger they are, the worse the final bust tends to be (1929, 2008 anybody). It's not for nothing that one of greatest businessmen of the 20th century (Sir John Templeton), claimed that the four most expensive words in the english language are 'This time it's different'.

Omitted to sign my post.

But I was just wondering, if City want Skrtel, is there any chance of getting Adam Johnson the other way? Seriously underused at city and would be a superb addition in my opinion. hi guys your main man mitch is back and this time with some concrete info.

I was in the queue at KFC and bumped into Steve mcmanaman spilling his coke everywhere so i bought him another one and he invited me to sit and eat with him he had a zinger meal just like me so I knew we were going to get on.

he explained that he still gets a lot of info on Liverpool signing and that Gaston rameriez is a done deal 19.5 million 3 year contract with add ons. phew thank god that's done. (i did say we would get him egg all over your faces)

but edds where does that leave Allen now that we have defo got Gaston. you think we will still but in an offer? also what are your thoughts on making a bid for sturridge seems like a cracking lad, would if be possible to get him on loan at least?

Well now you are just being mean. so happy we have got gaston we are going to win the league

Fsg not going to pay 20 million to sign a player on a three year deal, would have to be 4-5 year deal,so you are full of it.

Hi Edds great site, Just wondering if Carroll were to leave to West Ham or Newcastle who would we sign as a new striker? Or do you think we would stick with Borini and use the money for a player such as Allen and Ramirez? {Ed002's Note - It would be guesswork right now but there are a few are (Adrian Lopez) or who might become available (Llorente for example).}

Llorente, Ed002? Stop it, you naughty girl! I have just soaked a report that I was writing...drooling saliva, I hasten to add.

Ginger Rodgers {Ed002's Note - He is edging toward the door.}

Oh, Ed002, in the immortal words of the late, great Dick Emery, 'you are awful but I like you!'

Skrtel and Carroll fees received will start a flurry of transfer activity at Liverpool. Deals lined up. Allen, Dempsey, Ramirez, Amorebieta deals all in the pipe line.

Has no one realised that if we were to sign Ramirez and we kept aqualani and Adam. We wouldnt need dempsy and Allen and the money that was initially going to be used for both players (£10 mill for dempsey, £15 mill for Allen - total £25 mill). Then if we sold Carroll or anyone else we just buy replacements (I wouldn't mind keeping Carroll but if we were to get 17-20mill offer would be hard to turn down).

So sell a striker and sign 3 midfielders... Just what we need

Dempsey and Allen will definitely not join us Swansea will not sell Allen to us. Very pissed off with Rodgers. Dempsey was not a main target. just some interest shown that's all.
Ramirez is a possibility, but I'm not convinced of our interest.
It's possible the panic button will be pressed soon as things don't seem to bee going to plan for us with our transfer
plans. Brenden was not anticipating the situation he finds himself in right now.

There seems to be some concern over footballers from Team GB and the National Anthem. Just to clarify: The English are British and lots of people think the British are English but that annoys the Scots and Welsh because although some think they're British and some think they aren't and some think they are but don't want to be, they all agree that they definitely are not English. The Irish mostly think they are Irish, apart from the ones who are Northern Irish. Some say that makes them British and Irish. But others disagree and say they should just be Irish and then some say they aren't British either but part of the United Kingdom. People from England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland can all play cricket for England because they're British as can those from Ireland even though they aren't British. So can South Africans. The English play football for England unless they aren't that good when they might try to play for Ireland. Those from the Isle of Wight are English, from Anglesey are Welsh and the Orkneys are Scots, but although that means they aren't from the island of Great Britain they're still British. The Channel Islanders depend on the Crown which is what the Queen wears but they aren't in the UK and those from the Isle of Man are the same but have three legs, apart from their cats which have four but no tail.
Hopefully that clears any questions you may have had. Thank you for watching KBBL-TV live from Springfield. I'm Kent Brockman and this is Channel 6 News.

Had to laugh at this post. Excellent analogy of what its like to be from the UK.

Brilliant!

Nick

right - for all of you saying it's spurs it's spurs it's spurs he's in london it has to be regarding ramirez's agent...i don't know if you've seen the tv recently but there's sort of this quite big deal called the olympics going on. now, i think it's being held in london isn't it?! also, correct me if i'm mistaken, but isn't there football teams there, one of which being uruguay, who ramirez plays for?? now i'm no expert, but i think...think...that may have something to do with it. also, i'm pretty sure there are modes of transport these days that would allow clubs' representatives to actually go to london to speak with the agent. isn't there, like, cars and trains and planes helicopters and that? i may be way off the mark but thought i'd give my ten cents worth..

Good try at irony , mate , but Uruguay are in Manchester .

You right they were in Manchester, but im sure Suarez "tweeted":-/ that there camp was in London. As far as I can see they only in Manchester for the match then returned to London

I really hope we don't sign Allen. I thought he was a reasonable player, but watching him the last couple of games, he is not all that good. I think he will turn out to be another Adam, a shining star in a poor team, but a small fish in a big pond at Liverpool.

I trust the manager, but for £15m i think we could get a much better player.

Bring back Alonso!

Andy

Is liverpool such a big pond anymore?

I agree, i can see why all the so called statoes {spelling} were saying but he as all these pass records and only xavi and the likes of ineasta pass the ball more BUT every pass allen does is back to defence he never passes forward and to be honest is not a good player, if man u,chelsea, arsenal or another good team were after him for 15 million { be honest} we would laugh and say " cant believe there spendind 15 million on him " but because most of are fans are fickle and have liverpool goggles on we think its a good deal. Am looking forward now to the fans who know nothing to disagree with me.Ashy

Well thanks for that amazing scouting job of watching 2 games, but no offence, I think I'll trust the opinion of a guy who worked with Allen every day for 2 seasons over yours

Red Ollie

Right so where you are wrong is that the "statoes" actually said that he had a better pass record 10 games into the season that xavi and iniesta in the attacking third.

Not saying I watched every Swansea game, but the lad passes the ball forward a lot and the fact that he does pass backwards just means that he has good vision and doesn't try and force things like charlie adam.

Maybe if you played football or maybe watched it as opposed to just playing fifa you would understand that teams need players who can keep possession of the ball. Xavi doesn't play every pass forward does he?

Liverpool are believed to be in talks with Gaston Ramirez. They lead the race to buy him as he fits the bill perfectly standing out at the age of 21 and costing 20 million. {Ed002's Note - Ramirez has no permission to talk to other clubs at this time. Hi Ed now it seems likely that carrol will leave the club. Do u expect him to be replace with another striker. What are the chances of Ramirez.
Thanx.
Keep up the gud work. {Ed002's Note - I think that CArroll will go and I would expect someone else to come in. The situation with Ramirez remains unchanged - there is a chance but Bologna are in talks with others right now.}

Man City and Spurs ED02? {Ed002's Note - I can confirm that (a) an offer from Wolfsburg that was acceptable to Bologna has been rejected by the player who has no interest in moving to Germany at this time; (b) Some sort of offer was made by Inter via Betancourt but it fell well short of the revised value Bologna has put on the player; (c) Napoli has returned to Bologna with a proposal that they have yet to respond to; and (d) talks with Juventus have continued and a deal including cash and players (including Motta) is being negotiated; (e) Betancourt has started hawking the player around English clubs - seemingly without the permission of Bologna and requesting a substantial signing on fee. I have postulated that the watching brief and interest from Liverpool could be rekindled - certainly if Suarez leaves.}

Ed `s; take to post it on Liverpool Rumours page. Ed `s how likely it is that Liverpool FC will buy one or more of the following players: Gaston Ramirez, Nicolas Lodeiro, Klaas Jan Huntelaar. See we buy Huntelaar so I think there is a greater chance that Suarez will be in club anyway. I hope that we buy both from Uruguay, both of Lodeiro and Ramirez. Who do you think is the biggest chance that we can buy one of these three players. Suarez has played well with both Lodeiro and Huntelaar of Ajax and the two from Uruguay, he played a lot together with the national team and played great. Mr Toten {Ed002's Note - There is no interest in Lodeiro who has already moved this summer. We don't know of interest in Huntelaar and Ramirez has been addressed on many many occasions.}

{Ed002's Note - It would be very naive to think that the Champions League is not a very clear target. All he was trying to do is take the pressure of the squad and management. Or would you like another relaxing season and another eigth place?}

================
I dont think CL is a target for another 2 seasons, the objective is build from within and I am sure everyone at the club understands we are at least a couple of seasons away , and that is being optimistic.
If BR deliver what he preaches about changing the style of play and getting this philosophy instilled, then I think most of us fans should be happy with getting 8th , AS long as there is a foundation in place for the next few years.
It took Alex F three years for his first trophy.
Roy

LIVERPOOL boss manager Brendan Rodgers insists success will be more important than style during his reign.
The Northern Irishman earned huge plaudits at Swansea as his stylish newcomers last season bagged victories over champions Manchester City, Arsenal, as well as his current club on the final day.

He is expected to reproduce that on a much bigger scale at Anfield but stressed that for all the style it was substance which mattered.

He said: "The way I want to play here is the Liverpool way.

The history and tradition of this club has been about offensive football, attacking football but always with discipline.

The game will be based around what Liverpool are about, which is control, dominating games with the ball, working very hard when you haven't got the ball and keeping the game as simple as possible.

Of course I'll bring in a certain philosophy which I'm attached to but the principles of your game are based around the players.

For me the best thing about the game other than scoring goals is having the football, and that'll be the idea and the fundamentals we'll work on but they are playing ultimately to win.

We're in the business of winning and hopefully we can entertain along the way.

Rodgers, 39, said he was not trying to emulate Barcelona, who his Swansea side were likened to in terms of approach, but develop his own approach.

He added: "I suppose the tiki-taka football has come from Barcelona and that Spanish version.

It probably came up with the players at Swansea, who referred to it a lot in our training and our work on having the ball and resting on the ball.

It doesn't matter if it's tiki-taka football or possession football the supporters and all of us want winning football.

"That's what the philosophy will be about. It will be about playing attractive, attacking football full of imagination.

reds

He don't need to take the pressure of manager and squad! Bless him! Hi shuld put his hand in his pocket. Ynwa

I don't think ginger has to worry much

Ed2 you have always said we will spend money in our reach and we all know we can't compete with big boys but yet again tom werner is always in media saying we can compete with any team in the world don't you think he should keep his mouth shut and let brendan do his job

Kop {Ed002's Note - It seems to have confused many people how he can say that the club can compete with any team andthen say there will not be vast spending and there is a need to make sure that was is spent is spent well. I have a certain amount of sympathy with him in that he is trying to tell the supporters that:
(a) The club is in good shape financially - which I think it is with the responsible owners, the sponsorship the club has, the ever expanding fan base.
(b) The club has not spent wisely in the past - which it hasn't in recent seasons and at the very least there was overspending on players and the contracts of certain players (£60k plus per week for Degen, Poulsen being paid through to June this year) were well beyond the norm.
(c) The club will spend wisely in the future - which under these owners it will. They will look for value in players who will help the squad improve but will provide financial support in terms of cash (Borini) and I am sure re-investment of sales.

The clubs has lost around £1M a week on average over their two years of ownership and clearly that cannot be sustained. Getting back in to the Champions League brings much needed income and sponsors - it remains the target.

The club is getting back on track after what should probably be considered a lost season. Whilst Dalglish is and always will be the heart of Liverpool, it was a serious mistake of giving Dalglish the manager's job on a full time basis.}

Well said Ed fantastic insight

Ed002 you are spot on but a little harsh on Kenny

Thats all well and good and looks like great business deals-wise but thats 2 less senior members in the squad from last season when we need to increase the number of potential first teamers not the other way around as we have the europa aswell this season and the majority of the youngsters being not quite ready (unless pacheco and cole stay of course then its evens ;) )

£110m // £35

Not going to happen, even if you sold Suarez.

Blair mate are you confident liverpool are going to finish in top4

Well its nailed on then

Not confident mate but optimistic. It's getting harder and harder to get into the top 4 every season. It also depends on who comes in and who goes imo.

Come the 1st of September and our 1st 11 looks like this

Reina

Johnson/Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique

Gerrard Lucas Allen

Borini Suarez Ramirez

Subs. Jones, Henderson, Bellamy, Downing, Kelly, Coates, Carroll.

Other squad members

Cole, Shelvey, Sterling, Robinson, Wilson, Suso etc...Who imo could all come into the 1st team squad and do a job.

With this team/squad I would expect us to be a lot closer to 4th than last year. I don't think we were as bad as everyone was making out last season. I personally thought that Kenny concentrated on the Cups last season, more than the league.

I think that BR will make the league/top 4 his priority.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

You have to be optimistic for a top 4 place but in all honesty its hard to predict how ramirez will do in the premier league. i think that for next season our injury record has to be kind to us if we are to get fourth in all honesty.

Eds, Some momentum gathering in a few of today's rags (Mail, Metro, that other one which we can never mention!) that Gaston Ramirez's agent is in London talking to LFC reps. Any confirmation of this from your end? Keep up the great work which you all do!

I really dont understand why the club isnt even linked to a few wingers, since that is basically the one position we definitely need filled.

27 Jul 2012 10:46:30
I personally hope we don't loan out Shelvey.
He has been one of the most exciting players on the pitch recently. I would like to see him playing in most of our Europa games to get 1st team experience and if not starting in the EPL then on the bench to get minutes when he can.
I think a fairly tasty midfield would be:

--Lucas--Gerrard--
-----Shelvey-----

I think that lucas and shelvey should switch, although i'm sure lucas will be a better box-to-box midfielder.

---------------- Reina -----------------------
--------- Skrtel ------ Agger ---------------
Johnson --------------------- Enrique ------
---------- Lucas ------ Allen ----------------
--------- Gerrard or Shelvey ---------------
----------------------------------------------
----- Suarez --------------- Ramirez -------
------------ Borini or Carroll ---------------

Doni, Kelly, Henderson, Shelvey/Gerrard, Suso/Sterling, Pacheco, Carroll/Borini/Bellamy.

Why do you have Ramirez in the team?

I think the Key Here is Ramirez, i think the midfield is fine and we have the player so i am happy either way about Allen get him ok good player but if not not to fused but the big one is we need Ramirez please sign him pretty please

Super red army

Maybe rodgers will need 12 players to finish in top4
Shanks must be turning in his grave after he worked so hard making liverpool untouchable sad but true shanks and paisley`s hard work has been wasted they considerd finishing second was a faliure how about mid table

Reality red

My favourite thing about this is adam hasnt made the bench

I think you should swap Ramirez and Suarez so they can both then cut in on their faboured foot, this is sll hypothetical though cause Ramirez hasn't signed and I doubt he will.

Hi Eds doing a great job you lot

I would like to say how i was a bit annoyed when king kenny didnt get another year at least, but we have to move on now, i was worried when buck was brought in didnt know too much about him except he had swansea playing good football.Having listened to him speak and were his influences on his football philosophy came from the dutch total football .This football made bill shankly re think his approach after being stuffed 5-1 by ajax in the european cup 66-67 season. The dutch pressed deep into the other sides half hunting for the ball, defended a line 10 yards inside their own half and used the offside trap aggressively to squeeze space further.David winner in his book, brilliant Orange.if this sounds familiar, its because Liverpool adopted the same approach.Even in the 80s ,Ian Rush worked harder than any other forward by scurrying across the front line and pressurrising defenders intent on hoofball. This is the football that buck is ging to reintroduce to us Kenny had in my opinion all ready started the change from the awful tactics of houllier and to a lesser extent rafa.Good luck to brendan tommy Irish Red

Quality post, thanks and certainly another one that the more negative posters on this site should read...and then reread repeatedly.

its 27th and only 1 signing, please if u do not sign, at least sell someone.

redhot

Theres no point signing players just for the sake of it. We have to be wise because we always get ripped off.

Pork chop

We dont ALWAYS get ripped off, we got ripped off last season when Comolli paid over the top to ensure we got the players Dalglish wanted.. we didnt pay over the top for Torres, or Suarez, Alonso, Macherano, Agger, Skrtl, etc
Every team will try and get the most they can from another team, this time around tho we are not playing ball and just giving in.. we are negotiating properly, behind closed doors and whatever we pay for a player will be what they are happy to pay for him!

we are all talking abt 23 year old carroll who might have a future, with good crosses into the box not many defenders can stop him.
we should be trying to sell 27 year old downing, wingers need to be able to pass players and give a good cross.
downing has a good cross but cannot pass a player.
when a winger passes the defender a central defender needs to come and help and that will create a 1 on 1 for carroll.last season carroll coming back from injury found himself always against 2.
i say we keep him even if we get 20mil offer,we can get that next season if it doesnt work.
i am hoping for a winger with class that works for the striker.
what surprises me is that the wage bill is a big issue,it should not be.
we have way too many players.
we will have a better year than last, shelvey has impressed me you can see he is getting better and better.
this will also happen with suso sterling morgan sama.
flanagan spearing eccelstone are just not good enough.
aqua is a good player but the PL is not for him.
we need 1 winger 1 midfielder and 1 left footed player that can play in midfield or defence.
i have said this in the past arsenal tottenham newcatle are not better than us.
they are more stable thats all,if we find that and beat the smaller teams we should make CL.
i really believe that

Eds, have the Ramirez rumours gained a bit of leg after what his agent says? Ed002 said, there's nothing interesting about Betancourt's(excuse my spelling) words. But even ESPNsoccernet, which is a very very reliable website, is saying that, Liverpool held initial talks over a deal with Bologna last month and could be at the head of the queue, although the presence of his agent in the capital suggests that Tottenham and Arsenal could also be keen. I just wanna know if there's any chance of Liverpool signing him. Btw, West Ham have officially made a £17m bid for Andy Carroll. Saw that in ESPNsoccernet. So, that must mean it's true. I just want the eds to confirm if there's any chance of Liverpool getting Ramirez.

SUMON VAI {Ed002's Note - I have said all along that there is a chance of Liverpool signing Ramirez. All Betancourt is doing is hawking him around clubs - the people to speak to are Bologna. Betancourt has approached at least two English clubs over his client. I would not whip yourself in to a frenzy just yet.}

He could be in London for the opening ceremony aswell.....?

If we want top four next season and champions league football Rodgers needs to drop all this tiki-taka football untill next season and revolve our play around big andy. Just like Newcastle did when he was banging goals in left right and centre that will probably be the most effective way to increase our goal tally! We have the players we just need to use them correctly!

How do you manage to walk straight wearing those clown shoes?
Milamber

Why would we do that full reasoning behind bringing rodgers was for his style of play? If he done that wed get a rodgers that managed reading so stop talking s**t

Ye ye good point, forget Suarez, gerrard or borini let's build around Carroll

Drop it? He hasn't even tried it with Liverpool yet. What a stupid post.

We need Tony Pulis. Get the ball lumped forward ASAP. No messing around with the ball on the deck.

HM

Sign samba. play him up front with ac and we will have two massive target men

Yeah Samba is a good shout. Then we will need Delap. Him throwing it to Samba and Carroll will be brilliant. I want to see it. Make it happen.

At last a half decent bid for one of our players a very flattering 18 mill for Carroll, we will turn it down most likely but it does finally put some pressure on the loud mouths at Newcastle to be squeezed.
Gerrard talking up a top 4 place a good start against the big boys to get into position and attacking feisty home performances to stay there. We have a great defensive 6 including the keeper, gerrard if asked can be disciplined in a holding role in the absence of Lucas. Suarez borini may get some new teammates. Adam plays well with gerrard and Lucas and we can only hope that excellent Bellamy will stick around to keep the squad on par with the top 4 teams.
Against Chelsea when Lucas was missing hendo and spearing were highlighted as weak link reasons we could not quite dominate and win in the big pressure games.
Without injury and fully fit with engines like the legend dirk kuyt we nearly won the league not so long ago when the team was written off and predicted 4th or 5 th in the league.

27 Jul 2012 09:23:52
completely agree with Macca that we should be run like a business, but i do not see splashing out £15 million on Allen is a good business move. That amount needs to be invested in positions where we are even more limited - ie; wings.

Not hating on Allen but i think he is 7 million pounds overpriced. I rate him at around 8 mill. For 15 million we should not sign him. We paid 7-8 million too much for henderson. We paid 15 million to much for Andy.We paid 10 million to much for Downing although some would say 20 lol. We need more value for money.Players like Bellers,Enrique,Suarez.

As it stands, we could lose Reina, Skrtel, Johnson, Aqua, Cole, Bellamy and Carroll. Some key members of the squad and others that give us strength in depth. Maxi has already left. It's not just the fans that want to see quality arriving at the club, it's the players too. Surely they'd rather be playing with some of the best young prospects in the world than fulhams Clint Dempsey?

Because we haven't got the financial muscle, our key players will leave in the next few years. We need to do an Athletic Bilbao and forge a team of super youngsters who will stick together through thick and thin. Buy Henriksen and Draxler! Splash out on Pato and we've the foundations of something special. Also: sign Butland up. The lad looks quality.

We have not got the fnancial muscle arroding to you to buy players - I agree

But then you want us to buy some of the very best youngsters that would come with a huge price tag?

Do you not see the problem here?

You have contradicted yourself!

I think the players would be delighted with Dempsey as they know what a top player he is. Guys like him and Tim Cahill are an irritant to play against (and always seem to bloody score against us) but are great to have on your side. Id be delighted if we get Clint although I would hope for another couple of additions too

cozinoz

Patos injury prone and highly over-rated.

If you dont believe we have financial muscle then thats up to you....

We have more than most people think.

Suarez and Agger are far from safe either.

I think Carroll will stay, who would be stupid enough to pay £20m for him?

Just a question..

Why are we even contemplating selling Andy Carroll?

This is going to be one of the most ridiculous decisions made by the new manager...

Firstly we have paid fortune for him. Secondly, he has shown solid improvement in last stages of the season..and during Euro Cup...He is going to be solid in coming years...

And how can we judge his inability to adapt to Rodger's play? Last seasons's style (with wide players providing no crosses..read Downing; and midfielders being in a perennial fix of whether to keep it on ground or do a Carragher and hoof it), did not suit him too well either..

How is it guaranteed that new style of play will suit Gerrard? Lets sell him too shall we?

We are making a mistake here..we should stick by the player.. we stuck with lot of them in the past.. Lucas is one prominent example..This mistake will haunt us...

No it wont he is not good enough, if we can get rid and buy a quality striker ill be very happy. RedTurk

Perhaps he will stay, and its the kick up the ass that he needs to realize where he is!
Does he want to make it at LFC and knuckle down, or nip off and play for west ham?

27 Jul 2012 08:13:53
Just seen the post claiming Shawcross is on the Liverpool radar - Confirm this is true - Rogers is happy (if the right bid comes in) to let Skrtel go and wants a strong and (Premier League) experienced centre back to replace, who will fight with Coates for the place.

Allen is coming - Deal £12m agreed - Dempsey only 50/50 as we will not meet the £9m asking price.
Carroll will stay and be given the full season to provie his worth (again) and we will also see a 'wide man' come in, more than likely Johnson or Jarvis.

Give it a break mate, are you just filling us all in on your dreams last nite? Why do people waste the time posting, as if they have inside info. RedTurk

Whats the point

What's going on? Another semi sensible post from RedTurk? This can't be, the end is indeed nigh!

Why do people like RedTurk bother coming on here just to argue with everyone? Why don't you just jump of a bridge already ffs.

I think majority of these poster with extreme negative remarks are twits from other clubs ( bitter blues and mancs ) with sad lives who just want to stir it up.

I made the same point the other day, about Allen and all the negativity (and he hasnt even signed), we can no longer be classed as the most knowlegeable fans, as some of the comments on here are just stupid,

Liverpool to buy butland for 3.5mil and loan him to Southampton for a year, reina will leave next year if we fail to make champions league. Also expect Allen to be the only other signing.

what is the situation with iker muniain? surely this guy is worth seriously considering. 10 goals and 10 assists last year, plus he did everything right against top opposition in europa league.

is there any chance this window or next. i think he is what we need.

also with ramirez is it off the cards or do we have a decent chance of getting the guy.

Walcott scored 11 goals and got 14 assists.

Rumours are that Ramirez's agent has arrived in england today for talks, allegedely with Liverpool

27 Jul 2012 07:42:15
I posted a rumour sometime back stating I had a conversation with a friend online-not in person. He seemed to be ITK of things regarding LFC target. Somehow i checked the whole page and it didnt get posted! Back then I was trying to get info from him but he wouldnt open up and say anything! So to make him speak I had to start mentioning potential transfers and players we were linked with such as Hoilett,De Jong,Adam Johnson,Jovetic,M.Suarez and a few other players and he simply said "lol you wont be signing any of those but that there was interest in AJ at the right price"-Then I asked about Borini,Dempsey and Ramirez but then he went offline. We had another chat last night and i asked about Ramirez regarding what his agent said. He said Ramirez will sign for Spurs and that should LFC sell Caroll then we would be forced to have a look due to Fulhams stance on Dempsey!

morning ed's

great site ,keep up the hard work, you are appreciated by many fans for your efforts.

rant time
what the hell is wrong with some of our so called fans/supporters.it seems that no matter who we are linked with people persist in having a pop or slag off,are these people really that fickle that they believe we will have not compiled a extensive report on these players. there is no league team in the world who has 12 top notch world class players, every player in every position has a job to do some are more skilled and effective at it than others.thats just the way it is.blackburn won the title through a team ethic and hard work, and some luck along the way.that showed that if you have the right people and the right attitude you can achieve big things.

stop your moaning and have faith in the manager and his team

27 Jul 2012 06:22:47
From watching the Roma game last night....

1. Pacheco should stay and fight for a place

2. Shelvey should not be loaned out

3. Adam will be staying

4. Aquillani should stay but needs to toughen up

5. Enriques form is still a worry ..maybe Johnson could switch flanks and Kelly could play R.B. in the league until Enrique regains form

6. Sterling should be given some chances

7. Joe Cole could be a good sub to change a game.

8. Spearing should be sold asap

9. Brad Jones should be our no 2

All apart from Brad

All apart from Joe

Enrique will not get back into form without playing so taking him out until he improves is a bit difficult!

27 Jul 2012 06:11:13
Also didnt he give KK 100m to waste so yeah he might not be able to blow that every year but if KK didnt waste it on totally s**te players then maybe just maybe we would of done better last year. So lets just get behind BR and hopefully they will sanction moves for decent players

A couple of questions for u.
Whats ur opinion of the preformances of dani pacheco
So far...i know its too early to judge perhaps but whats BR thoughts on him and do u think he might still have a future with us ?
Second, whos in charge of the negotiations part for liverpool now ? Excuse my ignorance if its known but i have no idea at all !
Thanx {Ed002's Note - Much was always expected of Pacheco bur an immature attitude got in the way. Ian Ayre and the commercial folk will deal with negotiations I would think.}

sorry for copy and paste, the Guardian have stated...

'West Ham have increased their efforts to sign Andy Carroll by offering to take the Liverpool striker on loan for an initial fee of £2m with £16m added on top of that to make the move permanent provided the Hammers avoid relegation from the Premier League next season.'

Not gonna happen ........

Sounds like a very good deal if you ask me, he should move there and prove himself, he could always move up a level if he shows any quality. Hopefuly we get rid quick and bring in a clinical finisher, someone like higuain. RedTurk

Yeah because we can pay Higuain the 200 thousand pounds a week he's on at Real. Nice one RedTurk

New manager, new owners (in the grand scheme of things) and a new/refurbished stadium. On top of that a transfer window with 4/5 weeks to go. Honestly fellas, I don't know how much more of this I can take!

Throw into this glorious mix the extreme negativity and positivit of Liverpool rumours, it's a recipe for a heart attack (or at my age, blood pressure issues at the very least).

I prefer to sit in the middle.

There are an awful lof of negative posts on here, 'This player's not good enough for Liverpool...blah blah blah'.
On the flip side, the 'I have total faith in Rodgers and will support every player no matter how poor their ability/attitude' posts are almost as depressing.
Trust is earned in my book and although Rodgers has indeed spoken extremely well about his vision for Liverpool, I've seen too many false dawns to carried away by words.

Having said that, Rodgers appears to be a man who knows how he wants to play this game and as a famous red stated today 'I think we'll definitely see a much bolder Liverpool team and more exciting too, but with a quick transition when we lose the ball. Over the years sometimes Liverpool have come up against certain type of opposition and we have shown them too much respect. Maybe we had to because of the style we've been asked to play. There were times under previous managers when we did that, but I think this manager is the opposite and wants us to play like a big team'.

As things stand, if the transfer window was to slam shut now, I honestly think we're in reasonable shape to challenge for the top four. On paper (I know, I know), United, City and Chelsea look like they have the squads to take the top 3 places. Arsenal will be weakened if/when RVP leaves as will Spurs when ickle Luca gets his way.

Confident...pfft, hopeful....always.

Lol its funny how all these posters are now saying 'Allen's terrible/not worth 15m/there are better players' when this morning they were all going on about his immense quality and passing percentage. I can happily say I have NEVER wanted him to be signed or rated him at 15m, thankfully that game has highlighted that he is not a creative player or worth the amounts people are saying. Now can we finally move on from him?

E.H LFC

It doesn't take a genius to notice they aren't the same posters...

Allen looks like an average player .

Allen is so over rated glad people can finally see he is nothing compared to Xavi as they were all frothing out the mouth claiming he was that good lol..

Allen is all about ball retention, he keeps the ball well and plays the simple pass. would you rather have the adams of this world attempting ridiculous passes and consistently giving the ball away?Football is a fairly simple game...keep the ball you have a better chance of scoring and winning. Give it away you dont. Im not saying he is worth £15 million, but he would most certainly improve the team.

I think people should give andy Carroll a break, we don't want to sell him he will only come back to haunt us, he's a class player we should least give him another season, the price tag we paid for him isn't his fault, its a lot of weight on a players shoulders look at Torres for Chelsea in the same boat, let's see what he can do this season and if he's has a bad one then get rid. What is it with Liverpool paying all that money for players then selling them for half the price a year later.

Sure, he's such a class player...we can't wait to unload him and the only teams interested are 2nd tier teams.

Carroll is pants...biggest mistake signing ever. Granted it's not his fault the price tag was so ridiculous but, that doesn't take away from the fact that he is not an elite player.

I'd take the risk of him coming back to haunt us any day of the week...easy to say he's 'class' but, take emotion out of it and the facts scream otherwise.

I think it's the players bought in to supply balls to Carroll we should point the finger at. I say give him another season.

No big clubs want carroll shows you what they think of him ,even at nearly half price that sums it up.

Just watching a video on the Champions League Final 2005. I thought to my self, how proud would Shankly been with the fans and team that night. And then I thought how disappointed he would be if he read some of the posts that utterly slaughter our own players and manager. The irony of the majority of these posts on here slating players is that they normally end with 'YNWA'. I love this club, but I'm starting to hate the constant negativity and whining by 'supporters'.
Daniel.

I hate negativity too. We should beat it up. I also hate when people spell definitely as definatly. But I do love lamp... I love lamp.

Good post my friend. I agree 100% especially about the YNWA crap at the end of posts that have nothing to do with that lovely sentiment and ethos

gareth

The reason we come on the site is to opine may be it is negative , i came home from the majority of our home games for the last two seasons fed up and moaning it does not make me a bad supporter i go to all the home games and most away games and support the team and cheer for the lads who play , but i do not see every thing through rose tinted glasses as not every thing we do deserves the full support of the fans.

Re: AC for Ba
Newcastle bosses will be my heroes if they're able to trick liverpool into swapping their 35M purchase for another striker that also excelled for just half a season in the prem.
I certainly hope it doesn't happen but it would be some epic coup if they fooled us twice.
Ba wouldn't fit into Rogers style any better than Carrol. So it doesn't compute anyway. Carrol has more potential and will be a game changer even if he doesn't fit the typical pass and move mold.

Eds, with rodgers style of play and formation requiring out and out wingers (such as Dyer and sinclair when at Swansea) do you envisage him targetting these areas of the team? I would have thought these positions would be priorities not central midfield. With there being limited funds, I'm starting to wonder if he will address these positions and if so, who are the likely targets? {Ed001's Note - he didn't use out and out wingers at Swansea.}

A lot of talk of Liverpool and spurs chasing the same targets, and us missing out to them.
Perhaps those targets popped onto the fans banter pages, saw the putrid abuse from personic LFC fans and thought sod it i'm off to the spuds.

Spurs were after brendan , so why is he with us.

Anyone can score a free kick. Scoring a free kick doesn't make you a good player. No way on this Earth is Ramirez worth 20 million. More like 12 million. He doesn't do much in a game.

BthekingB

He did more than Allen, you obviously didn't asses him properly and clearly you haven't watched him play for bologna.

Bellemy is alegend gets booked and still has the balls to tell the ref hes s**t excellent

It's not hard to be a class above a Manc fan, they was even booing Bellemy tonight because he plays for Liverpool, even though he was playing for the very team they was supporting! It makes me proud to not be one of that lot!

MR EM {Ed001's Note - to be fair, whenever England play the fans always slag off Man Utd, which is just as pathetic. All the chants of 'stand up if you hate _____ (insert club name there)' during internationals is ridiculous. It is so sad that they can't grow up and just support the team in front of them.}

Agree with the Ed and CB got an ovation all good.

I also agree eds and hate all the immature negative remarks, but do have to say England as a team do bore me to tears and i often wish they would just take a chance. However booing and all that nonsense because someone plays for whatever club is just silly
