Eds, serious question.
How long till you make the app?
You know far more than any other 'ITK' people and you could do so much with an app it's ridiculous!
If I had the money I'd pay for it all haha

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I doubt it will be before the end of the year, at the earliest. We have a few other things, competitions, games and some new features for the sites we want to put out first. Developing an app takes time as we have never done anything like it before.}

I know a couple of excellent coders if you need any help, I'm sure they'd do for real cheap too.

what app eds? is it the phone apps for this site?

I have developed a few apps. If you want any help you have my email pal

Even if all you give us are reply notifications on the full site I will be happy, kind of annoying to have to recheck threads manually

ed, can you explain why Dalglish is coming out and backing Suarez when according to you he's the one that got KK fired?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - because he loves the club and will say what he feels is in the club's best interest.}

Ed, I probably missed something, but how do you feel that Suarez contributed to KK getting sacked? Was it that KK supported him over the Evra fiasco or was there something else that occurred?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Try the archive for when he lost his job in the December.+

The suarez issues will have been a factor, but don't forget that kenny also had a poor transfer record overall, and the results on the pitch that season were nowhere near good enough to challenge for a cl place.
It was ruthless, but if he hadnt moved on we would probably still be struggling to get into the cl even now, with the services of downing, adam, coates and carroll.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the transfer debacle was put at the feet of Commolli, as he was the man who hand picked most of the players using stats. So that wasn't an issue. Kenny had won a cup and got us to both cup finals. That wasn't going to lead to him leaving, as the results only went down the pan following the Suarez debacle.}

Thanks ed, I have always assumed kenny had the biggest say in picking those guys, and I must admit it gave me a poor perception of his player-spotting ability. I never doubted his tactical management, because he did well in his first half season using other peoples players, but did much worse when he used what I thought were his own hand picked players.

Hey Ed001,

With the news/rumour that we're set to sign Divock Origi and loan him out, I just want to know you're opinion of him as a player. I honestly had never heard of him before this World Cup, just wondering if you know anything of him.

If you have the time, your opinion on Lallana as a signing as well as the possibility of Moreno and Shaqiri - what are these players qualities for our side, in your opinion?

Always interested to hear what you say!

Thanks in advance :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Origi is highly rated for his pace and trickery, I can't say I have seen much of him myself, but I have heard a lot about him. I do wonder about the wisdom of the loan though, I would prefer him to get used to the UK personally and settle in the country. He has pace and skill, but the difficult part about the UK is getting used to a completely different lifestyle, he won't be doing that on loan there.

As for Lallana, I really like him. He glides past opponents and creates chances, is able to play the ball with either foot and can play multiple roles due to his ability. He is more of a creator than a finisher though, so he will need to have players around him to finish off the chances.

Moreno is very quick, but suspect positionally. We do play a defensive midfielder to cover that anyway, and he is lightning so should be able to get back in time. His defending does need a bit of work, he is not really the best tackler I have ever seen, but he is far from the worst. His main qualities are defo going forward, his pace gets him into dangerous positions before the opposition can adjust. From what I have seen, his final ball could do with a bit of work too, but he does seem very technically accomplished, so I would think that is partly down to him running too fast when he puts the ball in. I know that sounds silly but it can be a major problem with extremely quick players, Giggs was one who couldn't cross until he learnt to just slow down a tiny bit to improve his control of the ball. If Moreno can learn that, I think his crossing will show a marked improvement.

As for Shaqiri, everything I have seen just screams of inconsistency. One minute excellent, the next terrible. I am completely unsure what to think of him. He clearly has ability, massive amounts of it, but he can't seem to put together good performances on a regular basis. Perhaps he needs regular football, but I was told by someone who worked with him at Basle that he was inconsistent there too. That he frustrated the hell out of the coaching staff.}

Cheers Ed001, can't thank you enough for that!

I'll have to hope Origi is as good as some people say and doesn't end up doing nothing for us after his loan.

Lallana I like, my only fear is that he will mean Suso leaves, and I don't think Lallana is worth £25m and losing Suso.

Moreno I haven't seen much of but your insight is brilliant, I trust you 100% and would be excited to see him arrive at Anfield!

Shaqiri I have never been excited over. I don't see what he adds over Sterling or Ibe or Sinclair to name what we already have. I hope he proves me wrong and Rodgers adds that consistency you mention to his games. I suppose he would bulken our squad for Champions League also!

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 21:52:42
Markovic is a player being linked but I don't know him well really. Can anyone give me a quick summary of what he is like and is he worth the figure being mentioned, £25M?
Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2014 21:58:30
He is a top player, But 25 mill for 20 year old?. I am not sure on the figure.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 22:24:44
Manchester United just paid more for an 18 year old. Let's let the management think about money whilst we sit back and enjoy the ride.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shaws worth every penny though imo, havnt seen Markovic play so can't really comment but I think 30M is probably a final offer for Shaw but still worth it. Everyone compares him to Bale so it wouldn't surprise me if he is pushed up to LM or onto the wing and his value doubles. of course he could flop but given his consistency this season I doubt it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Markovic is not the player we want. lallana and sanchez are better. markovic is very inconsistent and doesn't start every game out there. he would be on par with shaqiri at best.

Kenny Dalglish on Luis Suarez: Liverpool shouldn't just turn their backs on him for doing wrong.

Chris T

You know what mate, I would still keep him. All the new players would take time to adjust. This guy scored a brace with in 24 days of his Knee operation.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 22:05:46
We know you would Harry, you support him, not the club after all ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

If he stays I'll support him like all of the players, he is still top, top quality. After 24 days of knee surgery most players would be in a brace! However I think he's far too volatile to have around.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only against England though Harry lol

Keep him bloody hell what does he have to do to convince anybody he's bad news.

When Totemham sold Bale, did they not deny they were selling whilst spending money in advance, only to then sell him? The idea not to have prices put up when clubs realised they had a large amount of cash to spend. I realise this is a little simple or I have over simplified but could Liverpool be doing the same thing now with a deal already agreed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Could be very smart if true!

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 21:38:46
i really don't get this. if all these players are lined up(lallana, shaqiri, markovic, origi, sanchez) suarez is obv sold. let's say sanchez is his replacement, aspas and alberto are gone, origi loaned and than it makes some sense.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2014 21:37:17
Ed01, Was the situation same last year when Bale was getting sold, You have stated there is still no deal in place for Suarez.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Spurs did hold off on making the deal with Madrid last season too, it nearly didn't happen at all.}

27 Jun 2014 21:45:15
And they kept purchasing the players?. Y it nearly was called off? Price at the last moment?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - oh they expected to sell him to Madrid, but the deal hit a few snags at the end, just minor things, payment terms etc.}

27 Jun 2014 21:33:47
I can see what is going to happen now. We will revert to a lone striker, and are targeting players for the three positions behind Sturridge. We will now have striking cover with Lambert and Origi. I am expecting Borini and Aspas to be sold. For the attacking positions behind Sturridge, we currently have Sterling and Coutinho. Markovic, Lallana and perhaps another similar player may come in. All this will happen if Suarez is sold. Hopefully the defense is sorted soon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hopefully add Sanchez to that.

Conspiracy theory no 1: Does anyone really think that the last Suarez bite was a deliberate attempt to sour the relations between Liverpool and Suarez and to ensure the move to Barcelona? Was there a real risk the LFC would have refused the sale and a fan backlash from letting him go? Just as there was with Arsenal last summer?

Conspiracy theory no 2: Did Barcelona encourage some kind of 'incident' to happen - so as to ensure a smooth sale and at a reduced value? Suarez's people have been talking with Barcelona for some time.

What's the evidence? Liverpool are now happy to get shut of Suarez. The fans are now happy to get shut of Suarez, Barcelona are still interested in the 'damaged goods'. Coincedently, the bite happened when Uruguay were drawing and were looking to go out of the WC, so this was possibly his last chance of action to force through a move to Barcelona. - Anyone else smell a rat?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2014 21:47:02
No chance, He enjoyed ripping England apart

Agree0 Disagree0

Your conspiracy theories are ridiculous

Agree0 Disagree0

No, They were playing against 10 men at the time with lots of time on the clock. If there was a plan to bite it would have happened in injury time with at least 2 goals behind.

I have no clue Y did he even attempted this post. Seems like a detective series.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 22:05:15
Conspiracy by Suarez who uses his brain once in a year?

Agree0 Disagree0

Your conspiracy theories would suggest he didn't have any release clause inserted in his contract after we refused to sell to Arsenal, I would think his agent would have some sort of clause inserted after presuming he had one for £40m last time and not being able to force through a move he seemed to fancy. A clause being a little easier than creating such a crazy incident that occurred.

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course, you make total sense! He did everything humanly possible to get fit for the World Cup and then was happy to sacrifice it all and his dreams and ambitions in a wild but planned event to make a move to another club where he could happily sit outside the stadium for 4 months!

Is it time for your mid morning nap yet? ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 21:28:47
Do you think Liverpool will take a leaf out of spurs book last season, Liverpool know Barca will have Suarez so why don't they spend the money they know there getting for him in the likes of Sanchez, Markovic Lallana etc. Spurs got all there players in and then sold Bale after they had done there buisness

Hi ed1 trying not to get ahead of myself here but the deals were apparently about to do, lallana, markovic, Origi.
That's big money seen as its no secret were looking for a LB & CB.
If we're spending the Suarez money surely we would sign a striker to replace him? Sanchez is the obvious one but no confirmed news that Sanchez is going to be involved in any deal for Suarez?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - maybe Rodgers is looking to go to one up top, so he doesn't want a striker.}

So if sturridge gets injured again were gunna play borini up top? That's weak specially if we're playing top opposition.

Dont know what the excitement is over origi, a striker that scored 5 goals in 30 appearances for lille in a poor league and 1 goal in a world cup that most strikers would have tucked away

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You can see he has tremendous ability. He's 19 and hasn't been fazed by playing in the WC. If his next season sees him develop as Raheem did he'll be some player.

hope you don't mind me asking and I hope this hasn't been answered already but its been reported on most of the news papers that Adam lallana deal is done for £24million will this have any affect on the xherdan shaqiri deal(who I think is the better player) witch is again widely reported that Liverpool have agreed personal terms and are just trying to agree a deal with Munich

Ssn said that these are claims from French newspapers. Make of it what you will, but I wanna see our club doctor touching his legs up before I believe it.

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't sign someone for 11m then loan them out on top of that, its closer to 6m maybe 8m at most.

Eds in YOUR opinion, do you think Liverpool will sell suarez, in mine I think its makes most sense, he has been worldclass for the club, but his antics are starting to embarass and shame the club and I think the funds could be used to strengthen and add depth to the entire squad

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed030's Note - I think they will, He has tarnished the clubs reputation and hasn't learnt from his mistakes, He's a brilliant footballer and ability wise we will not replace him however if we use the money wisely and buy a top quality attacker such as Sanchez or Markovic while improving the defense then although we will more than likely not score as many goals as we did last season the lack of goals conceded if we make the right defensive signings then we should challenge for the league again as we will have more creativity in Lallana and another creative winger and we should still get goals from Sturridge and the other attacking players. I feel optimism for the upcoming season and expect is to maintain our position in the top 3 while mounting a title challenge and hopefully with the luck of the draw to get through the group stages and maybe even challenge for the competition but i'm certainly not expecting us to challenge in our first season back, Maybe a quater/semi-final place finish. }

Honestly, if we keep Suarez, I think we could challenge for all honors again (BPL and in the CL). At times last year, our offense was capable of scoring on any defense. Unfortunately, I don't see how we could sustain our expensive squad improvements (ie. bringing in Lallana, Shaqiri AND Sanchez plus defensive reinforcements) without selling, but 9 games without him is not insurmountable, IMO.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2014 19:43:11
Would be a top quality signing, but at 20mil would surely mean suarez is heading out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dominic King reporting the same as well, Toddy. In fact he's pretty certain that they're going to pull it off. He also reckons that Shaqiri is still a possibility.

Looks like we're spending the Suarez money in advance.

Slightly gutted we're probably never going to see Luis in a red shirt again. Probably the most exciting player i've ever seen at Anfield. Just a shame he's crackers, eh.

Y do u need Markovic, When we have Lallana? I have no clue what are we doing

It's called "strength in depth" Harry. It's what we need if we're going to challenge for both the League & Champions League next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 19:54:11
Markovic sound possible Then Ed as discussed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed030's Note - It's possible yes. }

We're building a squad Harry, Markovic can play as a second striker, also. Plus Sterling's only a kid, just coming off the back of a really long season.

We had a really thin squad last season, it'll be good to have some quality competition for the midfield/forward positions.

Just a quick note on how FIFA work. A few weeks ago when the furore was over Qatar and buying votes etc an enquiry was set up by FIFA.

the enquiry lead wanted to interview Franz Beckenbauer who refused to cooperate with any enquiry.

Backenbauer is part of FIFA and should have been interviewed as any other member of staff or official can be.

Beckenbauer refused and Fifa Ethics committee banned him from all football related activity for 90 days, two weeks ago.

THe furore had died down over Qatar slightly and today FIFA (without even an appeal by Beckenbauer) have lifted all his football related ban with immediate effect.

Fifa I beleive once the World Cup is over will potentiall reduce Suarez's ban from 4 to maybe two months and 9 to maybe 4 /5 matches once the furore dies down too.

Its how FIFA work, so i'm hopeful it will be reduced and Suarez will either be ready for Liverpool in August for the opener or be sold for 70m plus

FiFpro support Suarez, Chiellini is backing Suarez, AUF are backing Suarez and Liverpool are now too.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fifpro are supporting one of their members (who I am sure pays them for their services), Chielini just said that the ban was too long (not exactly support), the Uraguayan FA do seem to be supporting Suarez (but they all seem to be totally missing the point and a little bit crazy themselves!) and I would describe Liverpool's actions to be protecting themselves far more than supporting Suarez.

I have absolutely no idea how this whole crapstorm is going to pan out, but I believe that the club will do what's best for the club, which is Ok by me. It would be nice to see Suarez apologise - not just to Chielini but to Uraguay and Liverpool fans and FSG to boot.

Hi Eds
Never thought I'd say this but I'm actually looking forward to that moment ssn announce that Liverpool have accepted a bid for Luis Suarez, the same news I was dreading this time last year. As much as I love watching him as a footballer, none of us will ever argue he is one of the best players to grace the red shirt as a footballer, but his personic antics on the pitch & in the press have left a very nasty mark on our great club. The negative press is damaging to our reputation, Suarez himself has already lost his 888 sponsorship & Adidas are looking to follow suite as are other of his endorsements. After the hard work going on behind the scenes to stabilise the club financially after the previous owners we can't afford to stand by him again. It was rumoured last time Standard Charted were unhappy after his antics, which is not surprising considering their name is plastered on the shirt he wears & is on the front & back pages of every newspaper & on every sport/news TV channel world wide, this again is damaging theirs & our reputation, that's just naming one, we now thanks to much hard work behind the scenes have many lucrative sponsors & partners who will not want to be associated with this bad press. I hope the rumours of Sanchez & cash north of £50 million are true, I think he's a fine player, gets goals & assists, tracks back, helps the team & fits the way Rodgers likes to play, he seems a Liverpool type of player, added to Lambett, Cann & Lallana, that would already be good business this summer. Now I don't understand the financials of transfers but with our budget we have already, the Suarez money & any other sales we could invest nicely & have a bright future & be in the headlines for all the right reasons.
No player is bigger than the club so Mr Saurez thanks for your goals & magical moments but it's time to board the plane to Spain, but I'd avoid Ryan Air because you'll pay a fortune for all that excess baggage you take with you.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2014 19:13:27
I know right? It's weird and something I thought I'd never look forward to but this should be the end of the road for Liverpool and Suarez.

Liverpool was here before Luis Suarez and will continue to be here long after Luis Suarez has gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 18:46:58
I think there's people on here commenting on the Suarez situation to make themselves look good ( this horrified me because i'm a good human being ) and if he were to stay and scored a hatrick in his comeback match a lot of the same people would be singing his praises and also I just want to say that people think that footballers get away with murder, if your exceptional at your job no matter what your profession is you will get away with more than the average joe whether its right or wrong.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think spitting, legbreakers and purposely simulating injury are bad but we kinda accept that. not sure why.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I bit one of my work collegues I would get done for GBH, Fired and possible segrigated by all of my friends .

I'm a bit concerned with all these attacking players we seem to be linked with when it's clearly the defence that needs strengthened I don't think we've got anyone that's all that great at the back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Suarez is leaving then we need to replace the goals he scores for us. Attacking players therefore will be necessary.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 19:47:04
We were short on players up front anyway especially seeing as we will be looking to compete on all fronts! We needed 1/2 more anyway, as well as replacing aspas and most probably Suarez, which suggest 4 attacking players.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 18:31:19
With all the drama of the last few days I have become so confused about transfers.

I see one of the Ed's has said lallana and shaqiri are possible to both arrive. Is this depended on suarez's sale? If not then do you expect another forward to arrive to replace him? Sanchez maybe?

Would be like Christmas for everyone to have all three at Liverpool.

Sorry if this has been covered.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It has been covered a great deal. But it is best to look at deals individually rather than think will we get all of the players we are being linked with.}

Couldn't agree more with op. Personally think there's no way we can replace the quality of suarez but buying loads of attacking midfielders reminds me of spurs and we know how that worked out. Rodriguez and Sanchez are top class and would be the best option for me if suarez were to leave. Getting them would be difficult though I imagine.

Sorry Eds but really confused as to how if "Liverpool close to agreeing a transfer fee with Southampon for Adam Lallana" he is still allowed to have a medical as he supposedly is doing so. Do two clubs not have to agree a fee before a player can talk to the other club and then take a medical test?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed030's Note - Southampton must have allowed Lallana to travel to Melwood because they are very confident the two clubs will agree on terms. }

i don't want to be called stupid or person, but it seems suarez is 90% gone. if we get sanchez that won't affect us at all. sanchez is a beast of a player, hardworking, disciplined, has some of the magic. with the right guidance could be near suarez quality in couple of seasons

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2014 18:43:59
Sanchez is a good player but he'll never be as good as Suarez

Agree0 Disagree0

Peanut, when we bought Suarez and Barcelona bought Sanchez who was expected to become the better player?
I'm by no means saying Sanchez is in the same bracket as Suarez but Luis was in a similar position to Sanchez is now when we bought him, albeit Sanchez would be coming from a top club in a top league whilst Luis was plying his trade in the Eredvisie where a player can break records for scoring and then struggle to break into middle of the road BPL clubs' starting XIs

Agree0 Disagree0

Individuals font win things. TEAMS do. We will be fine without Suarez. Sturridge will be the main man and homie a notch and Sterling can be anything he wants. Lambert already an improvement on Aspas. And that's before we sign any more replacements.

Anfield

Everything is fine. But you would curse in those matches when all our high Profiler's would fail to score one goal which only Suarez would do it.
Individual RVP got UTD the title

Agree0 Disagree0

H

No he didn't. He scored the goals but he didn't win it on his own. And clearly Costa didn't win La Liga on his own. Simeone beat Barca & Real and their wealth and power by forging an unbelievable team spirit and clever tactics. What have we won with Suarez if he's this super human player who can do it all himself? The Capital One Cup?

points without playing well.

Shaquiri and Moreno. we are landing both.

Harry just repeats what he reads on the web. How can u congratulate him for taking a guess? Lmfao

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but I argued with Harry a while ago that FSG would not sanction the Lallana deal and that has left me in a bit of a pickle.

I felt it was appropriate to 'congratulate' Harry for proving me wrong.

I have kept faith with the Moreno signing and believe he will join. Would be very excited if we do get Shaqiri too.

If we can land Sanchez at the expensive of Suarez then I will be singing 'Let it be'.

Lambert, Can, Lallana, Moreno, Shaqiri, Sanchez oh and maybe Lovren? That would be some transfer window!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lambert can Sanchez Moreno lovren and origi! He can play through the middle too when sturridge doesn't play or comes off! I know lambert ticks that box, but 1 goal up with 5 to play I'd rather counter attack with pace!

So, according to BBC Southampton will receive £18.75m for Lallana, with the remainder going to Bournemouth. For their very talented, very influential captain, I'd say that's a reasonable price. Southampton didn't need to bear the brunt of the sell-on fee hence the £25m price tag. Liverpool saw it as a wise investment. Really looking forward to seeing our three new signings play (if all goes well with the medical and final bits for Lallana), all of them look like very astute acquisitions, regardless of the amounts paid. I think this site may crash if Sanchez actually happened.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I see Sanchez as the final piece to the puzzle, obviously we haven't really started on the defence but it would give us the entire transfer window to sort it out and make a descision on suarez.

Exciting times.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Noshbag, he would be an incredible signing. I really can't see him being purchased without the sale of Suarez though, regardless of reports saying otherwise. We've already hit £39m with add-ons if Lallana gets wrapped up. I'd rather see Suarez sold, get Sanchez and a big sum of cash to invest in a couple of top class players at LB and CB than keep him. Planning your season based around the antics of one of our most influential players must be an enormous risk and affects our decisions in the transfer market. Would be nice to see a deal struck with Montoya in the mix too, but that's wishful thinking.

Hi Ed Thanks for a great website your doing a good job .

I just have one question ED what do you think of Guillam Balague as a good source of information?

Thanks and keep up the good work

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Balague will give honest information and opinion if asked - but stuff changes so don't blame him if something doesn't happen. Has he said something in particular?

He has said that Barcelona are still keen to sign suarez and may look to involve players such as Sanchez and Pedro, he did not confirm wether they would be interested in a move to Liverpool though.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 17:58:44
Just read this on ssn.

Guillem Balague says Barcelona and Real Madrid have already held talks about signing Luis Suarez and his latest ban may still not deter them from signing the striker from Liverpool.

I've got to hold my hands up here, At the start of the Suarez third bite, I was all for us selling him, I was going to help him pack, the lot. but now it's all died down, I've got to admit I was wrong to ask for his head (So too speak)
I do not condone any thing he has done, I can't bring myself to find a reasonable cause, Yes it's VERY clear that he loses all sense of humanity when he does things like this, His passion for the game turns him into something else, ANYHOW, If he does go, I cannot help but feel a tiny bit gutted. He's such an amazing player, Game changer, Game winner. But For the good of the Club, He does have to go.
Sanchez, 'Suppose' to be the player coming in, Some part of me thinks, He won't come. Like previous potential signing they just get away from us.

I wanna shut my eyes and it be September 1st and see whom we've got

Btw. I wanna say welcome Adam, Ynwa. ✌️

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I certainly would not get too carried away about Sanchez. I know Thompson has said it is a "done deal" but Barcelona has offered him in exchange for another player now - so he is still up for grabs. Liverpool need to make a decision now about Suarez if they want to try and get Sanchez included in the deal.}

My guess would be Vidal? Seen as they've been interested in Sanchez a while.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Vidal the other player?

{Ed002's Note - Kroos.}

27 Jun 2014 18:47:01
I'm not holding my breath on Sanchez. But if or when LS leaves then surely we will replace him the best we can with what money we av available and the likes of Lallana and Shaqiri are not a replacement for him. I can't think of many available strikers around that will score and create as many as him tbh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does Guardiola fancy Sanchez?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed030's Note - I don't think Guardiola bats for the other side. }

Ha ha good answer. I just do not know if Guardiola will be able to keep Sanchez happy especially when he will be joining a team Shaqiri is looking to get away from for the exact same reason of not getting a regular starting place.

Does look like Sanchez is a long shot. That would mean Barca will need to stump up all the cash for Suarez as I can't see us wanting anyone else. If This Kroos/Sanchez deal happens it would mean Shaqiri deal is likely to happen.

I am starting to wonder whether a deal for Suarez has not already been concluded?

The Ed's have repeatedly said that LFC are not in a position to spend money at will. The Lallana deal did not look like happening and boom he is having a medical.

It would be interesting to know whether Southampton asked for all the cash upfront especially when they owe Bournemouth 25% of the fee. That would be one heck load of cash to cough up all at once and would only be possible if there was a heck load of cash coming in i.e the sale of Suarez? Also, FSG would not have signed Carroll if it was not for the £50 million we got for Torres.

Plus we are still after a CB, LB and another forward or two. Still much spending which will require cash flow.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2014 17:36:36
Hey ed 001, something I've been wondering for a while is, what is about Gary Medel that makes you rate him so highly? I've not really seen enough of him to comment on his ability so I'm just interested to hear your thoughts on him and whether you think he would fit in well at Liverpool?
Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - positional sense, which is among the best I have ever seen, work rate, which is phenomenal, he has good vision, a good range of passing, he loves a tackle. Yes, he does have a lack of height, he is not lightning fast, he is not going to fly past players like they are not there and bang the ball in the back of the net. What he will do is provide protection for the defenders (or even play in the backline) for the 90min. If you want to see what I mean, watch his performance against Man City early last season. He dominated the game, controlled the midfield and was brilliant against a City side that should have rolled over Cardiff.}

Hi Ed002!

Just wanted your opinion as to how this Suarez saga will impact our transfer business. Are we likely going to end up worse off?
In the expected event that Suarez leaves, do you have any idea who the club will likely look to as a capable and realistic replacement? And is it possible that the club has already started working on bringing in the replacement?

Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I suspect Suarez will move on - the issue is whether Liverpool can raise further hard cash.}

27 Jun 2014 13:53:33
Ed2, I have a couple of questions if you can find some time.

Firstly, there's a lot of talk about Sanchez, Pedro and Tello but have you any info on whether any of them would be interested in a move to LFC?

Secondly, if the club approach Barca or leak that they are willing to sell Suarez does that usually diminish LFC's negotiating power in the footballing world? Usually in business, in a similar situation, the negotiating power would then shift to the buyer rather than the seller. I hope that makes sense.

Many thanks as always and thanks to you all for your hard work. It's much appreciated.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Sanchez is certainly open to the idea of England as he nearly moved to London a couple of years back. LFC don't need to approach Barcelona as Suarez's agents have been speaking with them for months. If LFC did approach other clubs there would likely be a drop in his value.}

Cheers Ed

Hi eds,
would like your informed opinion:
do you think that, without any major outgoings (Im sure you know who that mainly refers to) Is it plausible that we may sign all 3 of: Lallana, Shaqiri and Sanchez or would we only want 1 of them if there's no sales? as personally I think Sanchez is a fantastic footballer and would fit into the team like a dream but its clear that we have pretty much signed Lallana. and if we did get all 3 our attacking midfield and strikers would be: Sterling, Sanchez, Shaqiri, Suarez, Sturridge, Lallana, Lambert. Now that would be exciting and a deep squad allowing us to compete on all fronts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - plausible is 2 out of the 3.}

Youve missed Coutinho

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 16:43:28
I've always had the belief that Coutinho will progress into a becoming Liverpool great. With the apparent arrival of Lallana, Do you see this stunting Coutinho's growth? Or am I just being a negative nancy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We are in 4 competitions next season so we will need a much bigger squad. Apart form Coutinho, we don't have a CAM at the club, hence Lallana signing. For all his brilliance, Coutinho is still very inconsistent and only 21. We cannot rely on only one creative midfielder for the entire season. Lallana is a very good addition to the squad, albeit a slightly expensive one.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a squad game bro ;) Coutinho will get his chances.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotta admit, I love the phrase negative nancy, lol! I was thinking the same, but we'll hopefully have around 15-20 extra games this season if we compete on all four fronts, and given that Adam is 4-5 years older than Pip, I can't see a problem them competing. Both Pip and Raheem have struggled in the last season or two as they are so young still and developing so having a very good alternative is essential. My slightly bigger concern is over Moreno potentially hampering development opportunities for Brad Smith. I would to be averse to Bertrand for that reason, or even Ashley Cole, to allow Smith to develop as an understudy to a player at least 6 years their senior.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's a good question, in my personal opinion I don't particularly think it will help Coutinho too much but to be honest I believe it's to do with strength in depth for the extra champions league games next season and both will still get plenty of games. The competition will certainly be fierce though in attacking positions which will hopefully mean players make sure they take their chances when they come to them. Coutinho is also only 21, so I believe it won't set him back too much and may encourage him that bit further. My only concern is that some players may not be happy about squad rotation and may lead to them moving on but hopefully that isn't the case.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

With all of these attacking players being brought in does anybody see us winning games 7-6 or similar. We need to sort out the defence, mignolet needs to get an understanding with the defenders to give us a chance. Be brilliant going forward but nail biting towards the end of a game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2014 16:15:41
If you're a fan of stats we have already added 3 players who contributed to scoring and assisting 25 goals and 19 assists between them.

With Can (3 goals, 3 assists) prominently playing at LB, he is young and will likely improve his goal scoring.

And Lambert (13 goals, 10 assists) not starting much at the beginning of the season is a vast improvement on Aspas.

I'm not really a stat person myself but well, there they are :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I never knew Can played left back? I have not seen the lad play, so I am intrigued about him, but I was told he was a central mid.}

Aye Ed I think that he played something like 6 positions for Leverkusen last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

He prefers playing in central midfield but he was mainly utilized as a LB last season for leverkusen.

He is known to play a number of positions including CM, CDM, LB, LM and also CB (Not sure I'd play him there myself) so he has great versatility. Could act as cover to are 1st choice left back if needs be.

I see him as a box to box midfielder myself. Great engine, pretty pacy, powerful. Could be a very good addition.

The lad can (no pun intended) play in virtually every position. He wore the number 10 but played lb, lm, cm, cdm, and as a 10. He looks to have the appetite for a tackle as flanno with some very silky skills too. Tipped as a future Germany captain he's athletic too quick & strong

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely disagree Home fan.

You don't think Can or Lambert will play 10 games for us this season? We have to utilize the whole squad now that we have Europe.

They will play a number of games. My point was we've already added goals in the squad and will add more to equal out the loss of goals from Suarez.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 15:58:37
Wow Lallana in bang up to Melwood sharp as you like, no messing from us this time over players we actually can get in.

Bit of a shame that Moreno couldn't have come in and we could have at least on paper put the left back position to bed.

I'm really praying Martin Kelly gets a bit of luck this season because I really think when the lad came in he had real potential to be a starter for a long long time with us. I would like to see him personally at center half.

Young Ibe I hope gets the odd run out as well when the time is right. I do think he will be a quality addition to the first team given time.

You would have to say looking at the business we are doing there is only one that may drag out and that's the name on everyones lips a the minute. I think with Barcelona and Madrid they will keep the price down right until the last day of the window. It wouldn't surprise me if our number 7 actually started kicking off on us again publicly. I hope the nonsense can be avoided and we can get a deal done that is right for us. Its a big ask though.

I'd like Lovren in myself quality player. Shame Agger is going but for whatever reason he isn't the number 1 anymore.

As for Sanchez well if we can get him that would be a real coup. Not least to stop other sides getting him in their squad (Arsenal for example who I think are maybe a player like this away from a league title). He would add real quality and guile to the forwards. Without the nonsense of course.

Not sure what else we can do in the window if we get these in? I would be pretty bloody pleased if we managed all this before the window shut.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We would be lightning with that team and with coutinho & sterling there to push the starters on we would be incredible.
Still Sanchez would cost a huge amount and with us needing a LB & CB I can't see how we could afford it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your just saying that because he scored a hatrick a couple days ago.

Nonsense. Shaquiri has talent no doubt, but has also had his share of injury problems, and one good game for the Swiss at World Cup doesn't put him leagues ahead of Lallana. Personally, I think we should trust BR and his judgement. Under BR, even Suarez the cannibal kept his appetites to himself for an entire season!

Just my opinion girls

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 18:23:00
Fair point. I totally agree that 25 million is too much, but comparing to the average person's wealth, even 1 million is ridiculous. I think Lallana has a lot of upside, and clearly BR feels he can take his game to another level. I agree that BR has made mistakes, as all managers do, but also feel that Lallana less risk than, for example, Shaquiri. I am trying to be positive going into this season. A lot of people see a figure like 25 million and say "we could have bought X or y" but I think it is a lot more complicated in real life.

I think we can agree that Lallana is good player, and let's hope he is great :)

Perthred, I probably made it sound like Shaquiri isn't a good player, but that was not my intention. I should have said let's be happy we got a star midfielder. I wouldn't be shocked if we still made a bid for Shaquiri to be honest. The trend these days seems to be to overload the midfield and if Suarez truly leaves, I doubt we will look to have two strikers in starting 11.

Cheers,

27 Jun 2014 15:22:22
Eds do you think it is at all likely that Suarez deal to Spanish club may have already been silently agreed?

I know its probably a silly question but if we do have Lallana, and? Origi, and also fairly good sources suggesting Shaqiri and or sanchez. surely if all this is possibly true we would be well over budget unless Suarez was sure to be going. I can't think of any other LFC players that could be sold to cover those costs (if true they may sign up) unless we sold Sterling etc, and I don't imagine we would do that at all

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - nothing is done yet. Real Madrid and Barca are not places you get secrets kept. It would certainly be excellent circumstantial evidence that Suarez was off. A club losing £50m a year spending that much in one go, well it certainly is suggestive of an expected large incoming amount of money.}

I think Suarez has already told LFC he is leaving, and the club have probably given up any hope of keeping him, hence all the cash we are spending. A bit like Spurs completing all their deals before letting Bale join Real to avoid paying over the odds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks as always Mr01! I would love to see us bag those players although I cannot for the life of me see how lallana (i presume on left), Shaqiri (if he comes) on the right.Sanchez! Where? Would he play up front if all these rumours came to life?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Lallana in the middle, behind Sturridge, Sanchez and Shaqiri wide. Sanchez can play up front though, yes.}

27 Jun 2014 16:37:25
Gerrard, Henderson and Lallana in the middle with Shaqiri, Sturridge and Sanchez up top. That would leave Sterling, Lambert, Borini, Can, Allen, Lucas, Coutinho, Texeira (plus more that I'm probably forgetting) all on the bench/reserves. That is an extremely strong squad, and that's discounting Ibe (loan) and Suso (probably sold unfortunately) as well. Get Suarez out.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 16:41:36
Aren't we forgetting Coutinho and Raheem?

I doubt we will get Shaqiri AND Sanchez.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 17:02:46
If We are selling Suarez, We need Sanchez and a striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

I view Lallana as part of a midfield 3 first and foremost. It's all about 2 good options for every position.

Gerrard/Can
Henderson/Allen
Coutinho/Lallana
Sterling/Shaqiri
Sturridge/Lambert
Sanchez/Teixeira or Lallana

Midfield is now sorted, IMO Shaqiri will only happen if we sell Borini. Suarez deal could include Sanchez and the balance funds LB & CB. Any sales of Agger, Reina, Enrique, Coates, Lucas, Aspas, Suso, Assaidi, Coady & Robinson reduce overall spend and allow us to invest in players for the future like Origi, Hughes, Alli etc

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds, not sure of the nitty gritty of FFP, but, if the Owners were to put more money into the club to enable the purchase of several targets (say Sanchez and 1 or 2 others), how would that affect the FFP rules for us? (cuase we'd be spending a load of money.

Lalanna was.always being sought without suarez leaving and is a playmaker not a player.expected to bang in 30plus goals likewise if shaqiri comes in.too. We already needed these players for CL etc. If Suarez.goes surely he has to replaced by anothrr top drawer player. Look at Tottenham, bought aload of players and were abysmal last season. Sanchez is available and what we.need, suits our style perfectly. If he ends up at united, I might just die a alittle inside

He should come in, There is no better player than Sanchez. But seems in puzzle.
Juventus If they loose Pogba ( Preferably Cheslea or PSG) could easily land Sanchez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally with u on the Sanchez issue Big Al. Neither Lallana or Shaqiri would soften the blow of losing Suarez, but Sanchez is probably the only realistic option who would. He is already a world class player who has shown for Chile how brilliant he can be if the team is built around him. Also very versatile and would help to attract other world class talent to the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would Sanchez replace Suarez as a striker though?
I always thought he played wide, and although he will chip in with goals, he won't score 30+ in a season.

If Suarez leaves then all we have as strikers are Sturridge, Lambert & Borini.

Sturridge has shown he is suseptible to injuries, so he can't play two games a week all season next year with the Champions League.

Lambert is a good player, but he isn't world class, and he is a different option to our normal set up.

Borini again is decent but not world class and will not gurantee 20+ goals never mind 30.

I think we need to sign a striker as a priority if Suzrez leaves, and then Sanchez would be a bonus.

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry, I fully agree with u. We need to wrap up the Sanchez deal before Juve sell Pogba as they would have the money to buy him. Offer Sanchez 170k-180k a week if needed to bring him to Anfield. It would give the whole club a huge boost after the Suarez bite incident. Also just read that Ben Smith of BBC and James Pearce of Liverpool Echo have both confirmed our interest in Sanchez.
If its between Sanchez and Shaqiri, there is only one winner.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think we play a bit better with more of a central striker and two wider forwards then two strikers up top, so for me I look at Sanchez playing wider normally (although I can imagine he's quite capable of playing more central as well) as nearly ideal moving back to more of the 4-3-3ish sort of formation.

Agree0 Disagree0

We can't replace Suarez but Shaqiri is brilliant down the wing! He just scored a hat trick in the world cup. which is more than any england striker managed for us, so not sure he wouldn't soften the blow and with Lallana who WILL at the very least deliver great crosses and pass when its the better choice to do so and thus will create goals for whoever we have up front, not including how many he will score.

For me those two alone are a great start and Yes Sanchez would be an incredible player for us I am sure but as a striker, not so sure

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 16:24:17
Before Suarez scored 30 last season, nobody had scored even 20 from LFC (bar Torres and Suarez) for like the last 10 years.

Well I'm really excited about lallana, I've been watching him for two seasons now and he has always stood out for me. I think Liverpool have made an excellent decision to sign this lad.

He might not be as fast as sterling and Sturridge, but he makes up for it with the way he can just pass players as if they weren't there.

If I compare our business so far to the teams around us I am impressed I haven't seen Can play much, but lambert and lallana are good players that strengthens our squad as a hole!!

Reports said the lallana and Sanchez deals have no baring on the Suarez saga and Liverpool want Suarez to stay.
Surely if they pulled that off we would be in breach of the FFP rules?

Or are they planning on selling a whole bunch I.e agger, skrtle, reina, borini, Enrique, aspas? To accommodate Sanchez wages?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The club is pretty unlikely to say they want him to leave, at least publicly.

ED01, But If Suarez is moving to Barca for any kinda fees ( which Barca simply cannot afford without a player ) It has to be Sanchez.

I think it's also a matter of whether Sanchez would be interested in joining. Ed002 has said all along that his agents have said that he'd be happy to join Juventus, if they'd be able to agree a fee.

Like the rest of you - I'd love to have him at Anfield next season. He's the perfect replacement.

Lovren, Lambert, Shaw, Rodrogues, Lallana

Eds are Southampton going to have a team next year.

As delighted as I am with Lambert and possibly Lallana its abit sad to see a club who have had such a good youth prospects come through constantly loose these players. Really hope they can invest wisely and still be a good team next season and luckily they still have some very good young players emerging, Clyne, Chambers, Stephens, Turgot, Gallagher, Sinclair to name a few.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - they were in a bit of debt, for now and the future, that Cortese had put on the club, as he was still running it to Markus Liebherr's instructions. Unfortunately, after his death, the family are not willing to spend so much money supporting the club. They want to make it financially viable, to do so they have some long term payments to clear up and they are looking at expanding the stadium or even a new one altogether. For that to happen they need to be stronger financially to be able to get the credit required. I am sure they will buy some replacements in, with Targett being a straight replacement for Shaw who only missed out on being the one given the chance due to an injury. He was actually more highly rated throughout the youth system.}

27 Jun 2014 14:33:43

I don't post on here often, but does anyone else think the Suarez ban is not enough? My personal opinion is I want him out, he doesn't have the dignity to wear our beloved crest and has made a mockery of the club.

No one is bigger than the club, whether your name is Messi, Ronaldo or Suarez.

I think FIFA have been very leniant with Suarez and he is a very lucky boy.

If he goes in the summer, he will be replaced (yes not like for like and possibly not for someone who may score as many) but if he goes we support whoever comes in to his place.

It has happened through history with LFC from Hunt, Keegan, Dalglish, Rush, Fowler, Owen, Torres and now Suarez.

People will step up to the plate, we are not a one man team, he may be wprld class, but as we have shown in the past, its us who make the players thus way.

Thanks for all the hard work Eds, much appreciated.

Agree0 Disagree0

Touch wood, seriously impressed with our clubs turn around in transfer form, getting them done early in season. If we get the above in, under Brendon we will lead us to serious contention.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I was told about by someone extremely reliable about a month ago that we would be signing Can, Sanchez, and Bertrand. The first is done, the second seems to be done, so Bertrand seems likely to me. I put a bet on him, you can still get 4/1 on it.

I think this is a great opportunity for the club to get some respect back. I would like to release a statement that says we will honour the FIFA ban and impose our own. Suarez will not play for LFC again this year unless he engages fully with psychological counselling, should this be comepleted to our statisfaction then we will consider allowing him to play after the initial FIFA ban. In the mean time every effort should be made to sell him.

He is a great player but he plays at a higher level for his country than he does for LFC. When the chips are down and we need to turn a draw into a win he couldn't provide that bit of magic to do that. This for me is the difference between him Ronaldo, Messi and even Bale. Great player and if he was playing at that level we would miss him more, right now I want our great club to get rid and get some respect back. Definately don't challenge this ban just quitely go about our business and sell. Sanchez plus money I hope that we do the deal if it's on the table .

Luke Shaw for 30 mill isn't a business. ITS A RISK THAT MUST PAY OFF. He will have to be the Next Bale or else it won't help the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree HF, though please don't take offence. It's a lot of money but for the last few years prices have gone mad! He is a top player already at 18 years old and played really well for England against Costa Rica so it's a great piece of business for me as he'll just get better and is a buy for the next 10 years for them. Sad we don't have the money to get him.

Ps have enjoyed reading your posts so keep them up

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs meant business when they splashed the cash last summer transfer window mate - look how that ended up for them. Not saying it'll turn out that way with United, they're a very well run club with very high ambitions, but all purchases come with risks. Herrera looks very good, but will he adapt well? Shaw is also very, very young - they may have just found their new LB for the next decade, or it may be the case that he doesn't reach that potential. Is it worth paying £30m for that risk? I do believe United will be challenging for top 4 again next season, but I still don't think they'll be the menace they were under Fergie, and I think it's going to take a few years before they're right back up there again.

No question on his qualities, He is right up there. But then therez a limit you pay for a LB. I personaly don't think any Fullback is worth 30 mill.

So nice of you mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Tommy is right. Risk or not the players they brought in will make them a much better team and we have to react else we will loose the top 4 again .

Agree0 Disagree0

Luke Shaw has already proved himself to be one of the best LBs in the Premier League, and he is only 18. not even close to being fully developed. It would be a big fee is they only had £60 million to spend, but it looks like United will probably spend £120 million+, so doesn't tap out their funds.

Agree0 Disagree0

To Roy

Personally I think they (Manchester united) have to do the catching up not Liverpool. Two players and a new manager will not guarantee them top4, in all honesty as it stands top 4 is ours to lose.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think prices have just gone daft lately HF. £30M is crazy but it just seems the norm nowadays. I mean £50+ for David Luiz. Ha ha

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs had an almost identical record last year without Bale to the year prior with Bale and that with some massive managerial turmoil and some poor acquisitions. I really don't see that as a good example at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not gunna be worried about utd until they fix the mid and defence positions you can sign top quality players but there problem was the back line and there SLOW midfield.
If they sign a top CB a top DM and if reports are to be believed robben!
Ill be very scared of them next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

RDL, I'd say it's a relevant example considering they invested heavily and still didn't really see the players kick on in the team and take them further in the table. Granted, like you said, a lot of managerial turmoil, however my point was that investing heavy money on players who may come good (i.e. Lamela, Soldado) is a risk, but that sweeps across the board. United have now spent about £120m in a year, I personally don't see them sitting pretty at the top of the table next season, in fact I see them fighting for top 4. exactly like Tottenham have been doing.

JFT 96

JP

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you to an extent.

Spurs bought badly, particularly in spending the better part of 60M on Soldado and Lamela. Add that to their managerial issues and frankly I think they did well to end up only 3 points off of their previous finish with Bale. My point being- they bought perhaps unwisely and had managerial issues and sold their 'star player' yet still wound up about the same results wise (-3 points, +1 league position, similar results in the cups and Europa, etc.).

Imagine instead they had perhaps bought more wisely and not had managerial problems and it's hard not to see how they could have perhaps been pushing higher in the table without Bale, thus why I think it's not entirely a great case study in what happens after selling a player for a lot of money.

Does anybody else see a correlation with the Suarez bite and then Moreno being dropped as a target? I personally think the club are preparing themselves for if we are unable to shift him or his fee is reduced. The likes of Moreno (~£20M), Lallana (~£30m), Lovren (~£15m) etc are all great players, but they're all very costly.

I think we will now look to cheaper alternatives such as Bertrand (~£5m), Shaquiri (~£15m) and Alderweireld (~£7m). I still believe we will try and get 1 or 2 of Pedro, Sanchez and Tello included in the Suarez transfer (or at the very least strike some kind of agreement with Barca and negotiate the deals seperately), I just think the overall value of the deal will be decreased.

It's a shame this bite is going to affect Liverpool so much, but the club are only going to further damage their image if they contest this ban. Take it on the chin and move on! We knew this might happen and we took that risk. Now we have to deal with the consequences. Let him rot in Barcelona for a couple of years until Messi drives him out like he does all the players who upstage him.

Either way, we will be stronger next season. Suarez is a great player, but he only scored 30% of our goals last year. We were and are not a one man team. We won 66% of our games without him last season, and in contrast we won only 33% of our games without Henderson. Over half of Suarez's goals were scored against the bottom 3 teams. He was pretty much a flat track bully.

Suarez was the poster boy of a very good team. Losing him might have a positive effect on another player and cause them to step up their game and become the new star. Let's wait and see.

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry your going to have cut your love for Suarez mate it's getting a little embarrassing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry it is simply because of cultural differences. In Spain, racism and violence is largely still accepted and at the very least more common. In the more culturally diverse and morally correct UK Suarez is the ultimate enemy to our society and the way it functions. Nobody is denying Suarez is world class. He's just a tool. Sadly the Spanish love a pantomime villain; hence why Pepe isn't villified even half as much as Suarez despite being twice as violent!

Harry - You're not reading the posts clearly and just going on and on with your fixation with Suarez! I read many times that you want him out now, but you can't stop talking about him! EMS has clearly made the point that we are not completely dependent on Suarez, with factual figures. I think many others here will share my thinking that we don't care why Real or Barca or anybody else want him, as long as the club gets the valuation they place on him, whatever that, may be. Many of us want him out because of how our vision of how football is played differs drastically with the way he thinks it should be played. Maybe the club will think the same way. Simple. If Real and Barca don't share that vision and want him anyway, best of luck to them.

I was never the biggest fan of Suarez, loved his goals for Liverpool but like a lot of people I knew he was a time-bomb. It was only a matter of time before he did something like this again so it goes without saying I will be glad to see him gone but with all that said I feel so deflated.

He did have a big impact on our season last year and I am worried, I hope Brendan Rodgers and the owners spend very wisely this summer and bring in the talent we need to push on and bring success back to Anfield. I don't normally comment on future signings(mainly because I'm not in the know and I trust the club to do there best) but we need a big signing to lift the fans, someone who will score goals and someone we can rally behind(Maybe I'm being unrealistic and I know nothing about finances).

If Luis was to leave, I think we could do worse than bringing in Lacazette. I personally think they're pretty similar in their ball control, ghosting from defenders and Lacazette definitely has that hunger and fire to win (minus the Pacman impressions), plus he can operate on the wings or as a striker. Played in 46 games last season, was directly involved in 30 goals. Not a bad return for a 23 year old.

Lacazzate alone won't do it for me, As it would a stupid move.
Look at a 5 year picture, We certainly don't wanna sell anyone next year. Need Sanchez at any cost

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 12:32:45
While Lacazette is very good player, I feel if he were to sign, people will be comparing him to Suarez (which will be same for any player LFC sign to replace Suarez) and I am not so sure the young man is at the level people expect him to be.

Of course, we also need to take into consideration that he will be very expensive, specially for English teams.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lacazette is more like Sturridge I think. Still though, if we sell Suarez, Borini and Aspas we will need 3 players to replace them. Sanchez, Lacazette and Lambert wouldn't be bad!

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry - Sanchez would be the top one for me above all others, I'm thinking more if Suarez does leave and the possibility of another striker leaving also (Borini to Sunderland/Southampton?) would mean we'd need another in.

AG, in all honesty I have literally no idea what sorta fee he would command. But you're right, if he was brought in as a direct replacement that would be too much burden on a young player. My thinking was more along the lines of he would be a versatile player that I'd think would complement Sturridge quite nicely.

EMS - I agree, that would be as solid a trio replacement as I could think of that are within our means. Sturridge, Lacazette and Sanchez as an interchangeable trio with Sterling thrown into the mix would adhere to the principle of drifting across all the front positions we've seen installed since BR arrived.

Straight swap? Nope. We can do better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with Harry here. You don't sell an asset off cheap just because it's caused you problems.

Say your Ferrari broke down and as a result you had to walk 10 miles to get home. Would you then go and swap your Ferrari for a Ford Focus ST because it had caused you problems?

The answer is no, because that broken Ferrari is still worth more than the high flying Focus to somebody else. Sanchez probably isn't even much worse than Suarez, just as a Ford Focus ST isn't really much worse than a Ferrari. Status costs you money in the modern world though and Suarez carries some kind of aura that makes him worth more money.

Luis: 31 goals and 13 assists (44 total)
Alexis: 22 goals and 15 assists (37 total)

Like I say, not much difference. Suarez just seems to be valued higher in world football, and we should not let our emotions damage the club anymore than Suarez already has.

I'm not saying it makes business sense. It's just how I feel. I'd love to have Sanchez at the expense of Suarez. Sanchez could really add to our team and I just want to see the back of Suarez. The money men can do their wheeling and dealing for whatever cost they believe is appropriate but I would love to see Chewy Luis swapped with Sanchez .

I get your point, We will have more rivals to compete this year. let's be smart. He is still an asset, World class player. We could always play the hard ball over him.
Everyone knows He plays for himself. And that's exactly a wise businessman wants. He doesn't care If he wears a red or blue, But he would do the job.
So Sell him only at the right price.

Suarez must be played out very carefully as Liverpool is a business, the club must not act daft or say silly things I'm sure they upset as much if not more then us and his team mates we should try and get 100% value out of him one way or other hopefully this is the end for him and we get 70/80 million which would be great right now! Thanks for your goals but would prefer to have my Liverpool out the papers for all the wrong reasons! I agree with you, With all the nuisence and the Ban imposed on him, 2 of the biggest clubs are still interested in him makes him a good piece of business.
I wouldn't care what is he sniffing in Brazil, The world knows what he brings on the pitch, If he is tamed properly.
No compromise on his price.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree LFC linc and I am 100%confident the Club hierarchy will do what's best for LFC. Its a 'rock and hard place' situation. We know He wanted to go before all of this as his reps were scouting the Spanish elite. Now its a fine balancing act between maintaining club sponsorship, disciplining Him, whilst ensuring the max value is maintained of the player. He has to go - no question. I am sure LFC would do business with Barca if Sanchez was open to coming to us. This seems only clear option. If not then we would need to keep him for another year to increase his value again. Not a pleasant or easy situation for BR and I feel sorry for Him, the team mates and of course our fans and great club. As Ed001 has said - I agree he is selfish and in it for himself. Was this situation orchestrated by Him to manoeuvre a move? Who knows - but you can't disregard the thought. Can't believe it is Pre Season and our club is being dragged through the dirt on what should be holiday time.

27 Jun 2014 10:52:39
Thought I'd add my thoughts on the Suarez situation - It's quite simple really, the blokes an animal, and I now hope that the club impose some hard sanctions on him, like a huge fine and also a club ban to follow the FIFA ban

He deserves everything he gets, although he was lucky it was only a 4 month ban

If the club have any chance of selling him before the new season, they should do so, and wash their hands of him and this whole sorry state of affairs

For all you people questioning why it's a total football ban, and the fact it should only be an international ban, ought to look at yourselves and ask some questions. He has damaged the reputation of this great club, and tbh, I don't think he should ever step foot inside it again

Money talks though, and he still a huge commodity to the club, but I guess we will have to see what sanctions they impose on him

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2014 12:01:20
He's not an animal. Luis is a human being with some admirable qualities. However, his idiotic behaviour is a liability and, having worked so hard to put him right, I think the club should sell and let someone else deal with his troubled persona. I am tired of the rubbish he causes us, so goodness knows how Brendan and co are feeling. Liverpool FC is all that matters, not Luis Suarez, and we will be fine without him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not an animal. Most people who work with him day to day attest to that. However what he does in situations where he's under real pressure or stress reveals his inner demons - he's clearly hiding a lot of pain and this is how it comes out. Not my analysis btw but that of several psychologists. He needs help but his reaction to pressure and his view of his own importance and his self denial will always cause LFC problems. The registration documents from Ajax did come complete with a note saying "good luck"! We were warned!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wrong.

He is an animal. we all are. He just happens to be a particularly nasty one.

His behaviour is not personic, more psychotic and we need to get rid.

No more excuses, no more chances.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure I typed personic and not personic! don't even know what that is!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - just the swear filter mate, we had to put a list of words into it that when people called others by them it would cause a reaction. Yeah but it is really funny though

When will people understand its not FIFA we should be blaming for this ban, its that person Suarez. I feel he gets off the hook from the fans due to his exceptional ability, when will people see the bigger picture, he's staining our club and is stamping on the credibility that Liverpool have been built up over the last 100 odd years. I'm sure if it was any other player, the fans would be calling for his head! He's let himself, Liverpool Football Club, Brendan Rodgers, his family and now his country down. Enough is enough in my opinion, let the obscure little weasel cause damage at another club, not ours!

hi reds, first I wanted to say that football these days is about business and making money. so with that logic best thing would be to sell suarez if we can find a buyer that suits our criterion. we would be paying sallary of 200k per week for 4 months to somebody sitting at home, losing sponsors.
about scoring goals next season, well I think will be just fine. we may not score 100 but I hope we won't concede 50 . sterling is much better player than he was last year this time, and I think he will be even better ( I know he is 19-20 and still a kid ) and be much more important this year. I hope borrini gets a chance, he is fox in the box, he scored goals at cats so with the help of better surondings along him at Liverpool he would score a lot. lambert is a hidden gem, great with his feet, good target men and a Liverpool fan from the day he started playing football . when br was at swansea he played with graham as a striker and 2 wingers. and people gave credit to him for the way he played . he is a fan of formation of 4-3-3 with the number 9 role for someone like lambert. this would be his new upgraded version 2.0
sorry for the long post and for spelling mistakes

Baffles me how someone with so much footballing intelligence can be so moronic. Suarez is one of the cleverest players both on and off the ball. In fact his off the ball play is probably better than either Ronaldo or Messi.

My take on the situation is that we should try and buy Sanchez as a replacement and sell Suarez to Barca. Suarez is an accident waiting to happen and leaving aside the negative publicity we simply can't afford to have our best player missing big chunks of the season through bad behaviour.

Barca are crying out for good strikers to compete with the galacticos at Real and Suarez himself would jump at the opportunity especially as his wife hails from that area.

With his pace, movement and skill Sanchez would be a perfect fit for us and at 25 he still has lots of room for improvement. don't forget Suarez was roughly that age when he came to Anfield and since then his play has come on in leaps and bounds.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - his wife doesn't hail from that area, her family moved there when she was a teenager, from Uruguay.}

27 Jun 2014 10:56:38
And Barca are willing to take ".AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. "to hinder their image. Or is anything fair in Spain?
Luis Garicia would change his mind after reading this.
He would be sold only on Equal terms, FSG would make him train with reserves. They are well aware what he brings to the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 12:39:22

Suerly some reason Ed01?
I love Fowler Ed. I loved him to my core, He was the best striker I saw in my eyes.
I don't think He did this on purpose, I seriously don't think so, he needs some medical help, He really needs.
ED01. Love you for the most Genrous Man I have known in a long long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I loved Fowler, he was incredible, but Liverpool is the club I support and I can differentiate between the two. I have loved lots of players, but they move on and so do I. I have a lot of friends in Australia who support Liverpool just because I have infected them with the bug. There is a guy who lives on the same floor as me in this building in Dubai who went to university in Liverpool and so got the bug while in the city. Others will get it from friends or family, or just because they like the way we play. I just don't get this sad celeb worship thing, whether it be footballers, singers or movie stars. I can like a song, doesn't mean I have to like the person singing it.

So the question I have for you is, do you support Liverpool FC or do you support Suarez?}

I understand it to an extent, I used to VERY VERY halfheartedly support Real as a 2nd team because I absolutely loved Raul, Zidane, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos (actually I just loved that team tbh). had Raul and Ronaldos national shirts as well. but players leave and as such I really don't like Real anymore

only team I can ever say I have a liking to other than Liverpool is City and that's down to me staying with friends in Manchester (before the money mind you) and going to a few games - which is the only way I accept people 'choosing' a club btw. I was born to a Liverpool supporter, and such became one, didn't get a choice, the way it should be

I still love Owen, But I never supported him at UTD. Liverpool is the club of my life, But I have hardly seen the glory days some here have been.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed001. To a certain extent, I would agree with Harry that at least initially, maybe it is a player or several players who draw a football follower to become a fan of a team. It seems to be the case with me. In the mid 70's I was living in civil war torn Lebanon and I had no chance of ever stepping foot into Anfield (still have not been able to do it sadly). I watched some games on the TV and just read as much as I could. Kevin Keegan and Ian Rush fascinated me. And I must admit that I loved supporting a team that was a "winner" at the time. The more I read about the traditions, the history and the stories of Shankly & Paisley and others, the more I got hooked. The highlight of 1977, for me, was watching Keegan & team beat Berti Vogt's Borussia Moenchengladbach in the European Cup final. I was heartbroken when he transferred to Hamburg for the next season, but I started following LFC regularly ever since. The departure and arrival of new players over the last 3 decades, has continued to increase my interest. Today I firmly believe I am a fan of the club, and have been for at least the last 20 years. I never started following Hamburg after Keegan joined them. My superhero of last year (Luis Suarez) is my supervillain of this month and for the foreseeable future, so there is no player fixation at all. All my sympathies lie with the club and its future. Maybe in my case, and since I don't live in the neighborhood or the country, the players attracted me to become a fan of the club. My thoughts.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I understand that they can attract originally, Harry was asking why else would anyone from another country want to follow Liverpool.}

I understand Ed001. I would think that even Suarez-fixated Harry would understand that Sport crosses all borders (in most cases) ;-)

Going to make a perhaps contoversial yet true statement, Suarez' International ban surely counteracts the ill effects of his domestic ban.
My theory on this is based on the fact that Barca/Real will not have to worry about releasing him to travel all the way to Uruguay and back, risking injury, in mid season. There was a time this season where Luis played for Uruguay midweek, flew back and arrived Friday night, then played United saturday. The new suitors won't have that to worry about until 2015/16 season.
Also, his ban should not deter any teams for one simple reason, he strengthens their chances of winning the Champions League. Now if any team waits until January then Suarez will be named in our Champions League squad and will then be cup tied.
I think he will move late in August, when he has covered as many possible banned games in the UK before a move to Spain, as their season starts slightly later. Essentially he can have missed 2 games in our season before the Spanish season even starts.
Tells you everything that in the hearing his Lawyer asked just one question, will this ban affect his ability to transfer?

Suarez will go, still for top money, and despite his strengths he will not be missed. He has missed 27 games for us through suspension in 2 and a half seasons. there's also the sponsors and much more to think about. A World Class player whos ability will be missed, but overall a World Class liability.
Thanks for your time Suarez, enjoy Spain, you will score for fun!

He has spoiled the club Image, He might do that at Barca or Real?.
The bookies would bet him to be the Top scorer even he doesn't play the first 9 games.
He is just one of this generation.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is not the smile, he is a pain in the backside. Sorry Harry but your support is just obsessive, immature. When you grow up, you will realise that players come and go all the time, some are good, some are not so good, but they all leave. It is just no other will defecate all over the image of the club as Suarez has done.}

Seems they don't care about the Image, They do about the titles and money which it brings.
He would still score goals, If he is blind.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris T - Professional football is both a game and a business. Those involved in the business side, from a team which buys him, will easily brush off Suarez's actions as "Oh, those things happened at Ajax and Liverpool, and it doesn't matter to us. He's scoring goals, we 're wining matches, and that's all that we care about". It's the modern day version of the game. Clubs still care about the trophies in their cupboards but less and less, and care far more about their bank account balances.

Suarez has been banned - fair enough too. However, I get the Feeling that the Uruguayan FA has been a large party to all of this as well. They have created an environment of no accountability, surely they should have acted immediately to hose down the situation rather than add fuel to the fire. Their, along with Suarez's, petulant attitude has made the whole situation a lot worse. I get the feeling that the reason for the length of the total football ban (4 months) was due to their attitude and FIFA's need to show strength. If they had acted more reasonably, I would presume the ban would have not been that long - it basically says that in the FIFA statement if you read between the lines.

Due the stupid actions of Suarez as well as the Uruguyan FA, LFC has been hurt the most by this whole stupid situation. I'm not forgetting Chiellini as he is a victim but seems fine.

Don't get me started on the Uruguyan politicians etc! They seem to live on a different planet!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I actually completely disagree with FIFA ban.

Liverpool took means after the last incident, and had Suarez under control. Liverpool had Suarez working with psychologists, and the coach had the right approach, which not only kept Suarez from biting, but his overall attitude in Premier league this season has been positive as much as possible.

Now if Tabarez and his staff do not work with psychology, and make loose cannons out of their players, in order to provoke the opponents and win "that one more game", why does Liverpool have to pay for that?

International ban, would be fair and square. Ban that extends from FIFA range to UEFA/EPL - complete BS.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - but we kept him. So how can you disagree? We should have got rid, as this was always a massive risk, in fact it was odds on that he would end up doing something stupid and get a ban for us. I really don't understand all the whining about it.}

Sorry, but this is blinkered. The aura of non-accountability came from LFC and our awful handling of the racist situation. Even though I supported Suarez myself, the club handled it really badly, and allowed the 'not me to blame' culture to fester.

Yes, the Uruguay FA have also handled it appallingly, but we started it.

I just don't understand how some people can think this is unfair on LFC. The punishment is on Suarez, for HIS repeated transgressions. LFC suffer because we employ him, not because FIFA have had to act to reprimand him because he has sinned in front of 100's of millions of TV viewers.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 00:53:11
From a fan of arsenal but primarily a fan of football, here's my word on Suarez. He is a world class striker, he's in my opinion the third best player in the world after messi and ronaldo And in a lot of ways he is better than those two. He does, however, have psychological problems which he needs help with.
he is not a malicious person, he just cannot deal with the overload of pressure and has some deep lying psychological issues. He should not be banned, or fined etc. what he did didn't cause any serious injury and should therefore should be punished as though that was what occurred.
What he did was the action of a mentally ill person who needs love and the right attention in order to help him on and off of the pitch. In my opinion, this is out of fifa's power, it is a issue that needs to be solved by society as a whole.
I really hope he gets the help he needs and can push on and enjoy his time on and off the pitch. He ought to be remembered as A true legend on the pitch, luis Suarez should be one of those names our future grandchildren know of in 60 years time

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mate, while I appreciate the empathy and think it's right nice of you, it would seem to me that if Suarez were that unstable that he shouldn't be anywhere near a football pitch really ever again, or at least not until such time as several medical professionals clear him to be on one as otherwise he's simply a danger to other players.

Personally, I just think it's his stupid way of trying to force a move, but what do I know.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like to think Luis Suarez can think of better ways to force a move than biting a boy and getting a 4 month ban from football. Saint Arsenal you raise some valid points definitely but bottom line is that he must take his oil. You cannot bite another player.

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't say it was intelligent, Calmdown, just that it seems far more likely than some sort of psychological issue that only appears during transfer windows.

Agree0 Disagree0

At the end of the day. The punishment does not fit the crime.
He is a persistent offender yes but so are many of the footballers playing at this tournament. Pepe. headbutted a player who was on the floor.
I don't remember him being thrown out of the world cup yet and it is not his first offence is it.
I am not defending Suarez simply saying that if you are going to ban him from all football for a bite then you need to ban those who headbutt, elbow etc as well as it all falls under the same umbrella. Violent conduct.
The reason he is being done has even been admitted by FIFA. we can't tolerate this behaviour, especially at a world cup. That says it all.
I think a couple of years ago a Chesterfield player bit an opponent during a game. where were FIFA THEN?
Again, Suarez deserves punishment but that punishment should be in line with violent conduct on a football pitch. ie a 3 match ban.
Only my opinion.

Saint Arsenal, thank you - I feel you raise a valid point.
RDL and Calmdown - I agree with you both too.
You all have raised the same points I have been thinking collectively.
I am a massive Suarez fan from the start and dispare at his actions at times, however for the sake of Liverpool FC it is time to move him on. I don't like the bad publicity he invokes with such actions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally, I just think it's his stupid way of trying to force a move, but what do I know.
==================================

Are you serious? There are other things in life than LFC, even for Suarez . you know little things like winning the world cup and competing in the biggest footballing tournament . and you saying he will throw all this away so he can get a transfer .

Agree0 Disagree0

You are right saint and ta for chipping in. A very unbiased approach and you could expect the same if it was an Arsenal player going through this.

He does have to serve some kind of ban though.

Peace

There is no question on his antics. Punishment is certain. But I still expect him to score more goals than anyone in the league.

Jermaine Defoe got a yellow card for biting Mascherano. I have the footage.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - will people shut up with these idiotic arguments. Suarez has done this 3 times now! It is just one of many idiotic things he has done which deserve a ban. He is lucky he is even allowed to make ludicrous amounts of money for kicking a ball around at all, let alone to just have a few months extra holiday. Defoe, on the other hand, has never been constantly causing issues, repeatedly committing the same offence over and over.}

27 Jun 2014 10:18:57
RDL, no way would he purposely ban himself from the Brazil world cup just to get a transfer. I understand your logic considering when he's done it in the past but I cannot believe that for a second.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 10:31:33
But Defoe didn't recieve anything in the first attempt either, Suarez got 7 game ban in the first attempt. lols.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that wasn't Suarez's first offence. He already had multiple punishments and past transgressions. You can not compare Defoe with Suarez, there just is no comparison, in anything from ability to attitude, the two are poles apart.}

Well said Jonny Barnes. Well said. Like I said Liverpool fans aren't stupid. We know our stuff.

Everyone should be treated the same. Simple

Agree0 Disagree0

Just my opinion guys. I completely understand if you disagree. For me, Suarez doesn't care about anything but Luis Suarez. He clearly doesn't care about our club much, or at least not enough to temper his actions, so not sure why you think he would care about Uruguay (who, at the time, were out of the cup yet went on to win the game after the bite, ironically).

I just can't believe the guy is so unstable that it's just a 'reaction to pressure' or whatever. If that's truly the case I really don't see how he can be allowed on a pitch again, ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 00:48:34
Don't get me wrong am not condoning suarez's behaviour. However I have to agree with Jamie Carraghers comment that he should only get an international ban and not a domestic ban aswell. Liverpool are being unfairly punished. When Suarez was banned domestically Uruguay were not punished. What do the eds and fellow reds think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I think you should not start posts with "don't get me wrong" and then use the word "however". The runt was banned not Liverpool. Go think.}

Well, simple solution is sell him and then Liverpool FC won't be 'punished' for whatever nuggety thing he thinks of doing next time (and there almost certainly will be a next time).

Agree0 Disagree0

We stuck by him. Thought he'd changed. We are now being punished for that.
FIFA are not directly punishing Liverpool, Luis is!

He deserves the ban he got!
We will suffer, obviously, but we will learn.
Luis let this club down, not FIFA.

Enough, anyway.
I've heard supporters saying "players have broken opponents legs, elbows, rabble rabble rabble. "

Physically, the bite isn't an overly dangerous act, fine.
But it's in the spitting category of dog acts isn't it? It deserves a very hefty punishment.
Luis know this. Regardless of his years as a street kid, he now knows he can't do it, yet he does it. Clubs stand by him through all this, and he still does it.
As a Liverpool fan, I am amazed that he's gone to this new level, and hold him, and only him, responsible for any negative impact on Liverpool FC.

The end.

Agree0 Disagree0

The fee we would get for him will be less. so yeah Liverpool will be punished either way.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is what happens when you stand by someone who has been repeatedly convicted. There is a very good chance they will let you down again and so it is just tough, they should have sold him last summer.}

27 Jun 2014 10:24:39
Haych, his value is what it is.

Suarez as an asset is dangerous because he carries a risk. His value refects this. Maybe pre-world cup we could have got a bit more for him but that isn't a true reflection of him - this is!

Want to point the finger? Point it at Suarez

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 07:55:42
To Ed002: LOL. I won't start my comments that way again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you serious ed001? If we had sold him last summer there's not a hope in hell we'd currently have CL football. Last season he kept his nose clean and was a fantastic asset to the squad. I for the record completely agree with the sanction, but have to agree with people saying it hurts Liverpool more than anyone else. Suarez will be sitting at home on 200k a week playing fifa (assuming that's allowed in the terms of the ban) while we play out 20 tough matches without our best player!l

Whether Suarez leaves or not I really think that this ban/sale will really help us get more of a measure of Raheem Sterling. I am hoping we're going to sign someone in that position anyway as it's more of a necessity now with this cretin's actions, however it certainly is an opportunity for Sterling to steal centre stage. He certainly has the skill to do so, and his attitude has been 1st class since breaking into the 1st team.

However this will obviously come with greater pressure as people will start to expect, rather than be astonished by his achievements to date for a 19 year old. I think he can handle that pressure, however I was wondering what you guys think & ed001 if he's around.

He was the 1 positive from England's WC Campaign (if you can call it that) where, despite Roy's personic tactics, he continued to threaten regularly; against Italy especially.

I loved him when first watched him being deployed into a fullback position later in the game (I can't remember which game though), and he was doing really well in defending. Showed his ability to adapt to different positions. I hope he will continue to develop, and maybe one day can turn out to be a world-class player most of people here shouting for.

If we are unable to get rid of Luis then hopefully maybe they'll consider keeping Suso and give him a chance. At least some good would come of all this then. Let him show what he's made of. Love to see Suso and Coutinho linking up!

I'm tired of reading suarez did this last year, suarez did that last year. Suarez did nothing on his own. The team did it together. Every time we lose a world class forward we buy another and turn him into one. We have never had trouble replacing strikers so why worry about suarez? I remember everyone made the same fuss when torres left.

I don't think there is a single team in the league more adept at buying, training and improving strikers. If suarez goes it will be good business for us as a 200k a week striker on holiday for 16 weeks of every year is useless.

Start believing in the team and stop thinking suarez did it on his own. Sturridge managed fine on his own. while suarez was banned last time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Brilliant post Nevada

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with most but here's a list of some strikers we bought and it went pear shaped Heskey Ngog Camara Dundee Carroll lle tallec Borini Aspas and that's off the top of my head! we need to buy world class to replace world class

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 01:16:22
same thought like you Nevada.

yes we did bought some flops, but which club didn't?

I'm quite confident that somehow, there will be a player coming in that will be turn out to be world-class. who have thought when Suarez came in, he will be such a star, right?

It's not impossible Lambert or Sterling could turn out to be our next world-class players. Or maybe a new name will come, someone who most didn't know much about, and might turn out to be far better than Suarez?

I personally feels that it's not necessary to buy world-class to replace one. We're not Madrid, replacing superstars with superstars, assembling a team of galacticos.

Just an opinion though.

Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agreed, Nevada. Suarez is a good player (well, when he's allowed into the stadium), but he's neither the be all, end all of football nor the only good player in our team. We have lots of talent and I have every faith in the other lads even if they don't get nearly the credit they deserve for the remarkable season last year.

For me, that's probably the worst part. All of this focus on Suarez and how amazing he is when all he does is s*&t on the supporters and the club whilst those that actually give their all for us, the Flanagans, Hendersons, Sturridges, and others get called average or not get enough. It's really quite sad.

27 Jun 2014 08:59:59
Unfortunately I would have to disagree with you nevada, Luis is the third best player in the world at the moment minus his antics. he is irreplacable with a like for like quality player, If you know of any player near his quality and who would be willing to sign for Liverpool please give us reds an example.

The only player I can think of who would be good enough and has the potential to be a great would be Marco reus but he seems happy where he is.

Liverpool have never struggled to replace strikers but we've never had a player of suarez quality. its like saying barca would have a ready made replacement if messi left .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Suarez is a fantastic player, but he is not better than Dalglish or Liddell were! Liddell won us the league on his own, has Suarez done that??? Perhaps you should try doing some research, before typing complete nonsense.}

Totally agree, well said

Agree0 Disagree0

Who fussed when Torres left? Sure he eased off at least 18 months before he left

Agree0 Disagree0

I completely agree with Nevada and ed001. he is replaceable, I'd like us to buy sanchez and lallana though not sure if getting both would be an option. but I think that would be great options for when suarez is banned and it also means sturridge upfront on his own and he did very very well like that last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Irishlloyd

When suarez came to us he was a player with potential who was hard working, skilful but also incredibly wasteful and selfish. Without our coaching staff he would still be that player with potential. If we buy another player with potential (like Sanchez) I have no doubt we'll turn him into a world class one. Have some faith in the club instead of just one player. To say suarez did all this on his own is a massive disservice to Rodgers, the coaching staff and his teammates.
