Eds 002 did we actually put in an official bid for Shane Long or did we just make tentative enquiries?

Believable0 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - Just add him to the list that Liverpool missed out on.}

27 Mar 2016 23:16:11
Im praying that's comic irony Eds 002?

27 Mar 2016 23:48:56
Thank god.

28 Mar 2016 01:33:35
Yes we did put in a bid at the time and thank heavens it was rejected.

28 Mar 2016 02:58:45
we have bought enough Southampton players in the last 3 years, we should lose there phone number for at least the next 5yrs, unless they wanted to take back lallana and give us mane.

28 Mar 2016 14:24:13
Happened during my meltdown week where I had a pop at Kloppo. Migs had just signed a new 5 yr contract and then we made a bid for Shane Long 😆.

28 Mar 2016 14:31:58
Spot on, KK7. If I hear us interested in another saints player this off season, I will stab myself in the hand with a fork.

27 Mar 2016 21:44:41
Anyone know how Danny Ings is doing? Will he be ready for the new season?

Baz.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

{Ed007's Note - Anything can happen but barring any breakdowns he should be back for the start of next season. I'm sure I read somewhere a while back - maybe about 6/8 weeks ago - that he had started light training a bit ahead of schedule, Baz.}

27 Mar 2016 22:44:50
I hope he can carry on where he left off, who knows we might have finally agreed a fee with burnley by then as well.

27 Mar 2016 23:24:31
Kenny, do you think if we all keep really quiet Burnley will forget we owe them money and then we can spend the Ings transfer fee on hiring Benteke a Lear jet so any one of us can personally fly him to Timbuktu and leave him there till he promises to put some effort into his game and actually makes a run or score a one on one.

28 Mar 2016 00:12:01
sounds like a good plan to me BD, trouble is he would spend the entire flight trying to convince you none of this is his fault, I wonder if we could do 2 for the price of 1 with Swansea once Brendan returns to the manager's chair for him and joe allen, in fact give Rodgers a list of players he bought for us who we no longer require, let him have 1st refusual on them. It is a disgrace we have not sorted out a fee with burnley by now, it smacks of arrogance and not playing by the rules, I also feel its causing bad karma, this and the spearing situation is causing a curse that needs lifting.

28 Mar 2016 10:08:17
Yeah ed, Liverpool posted a pic of him training at melwood.

27 Mar 2016 20:24:12
Eds 002 if your about can you do me a boon and tell me when Gotze moves do you think Bayern will recoup most of the 30 million they paid for him or do you think he will go between 15-20 million seeing he's in the last year of his contract? I don't know what all the fuss is about injury prone and not a great. I'd rather have Reus! Thanking you in advance if you reply kind sir.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the asking price and I suspect they would accept a little less - perhaps €30M. There has been a discussion with another side regarding Reus and depending on a number of factors he could end up moving in the summer.}

27 Mar 2016 21:03:12
Thanks Eds 002.

27 Mar 2016 22:23:40
Would one of those factors be on whether aubameyang move or not ed?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

27 Mar 2016 14:44:01
Lots of people talking about players leaving in the summer. I think Ibe should be on that list. Thoughts?

Believable7 Unbelievable30

27 Mar 2016 15:07:26
yes he has had a difficult year but still has the ability to be a quality player just needs to settle more on the ball and decision making that will come with age still a young boy.

27 Mar 2016 15:08:30
On loan yes, sold? No, too early to suggest that.

27 Mar 2016 15:53:41
He has obvious talent and potential, just going through a bad spell. Might help him in the long run mentally to overcome this. After a full pre season with the squad, hopefully he will come back fresh and ready.

27 Mar 2016 16:02:56
No one would buy him and it's pointless to sell him. A loan to a PL club would either make or brake him. Best solution.

27 Mar 2016 16:16:22
So u think Ibe can turn into messi in 1 year or he had 1 bad season so you sell him wow. There don't turn into good players over night they take time.

27 Mar 2016 16:33:47
Ibe is a young player finding his feet. You do realise it can take some players til their mid 20's to come into their own?

He's one of our own, has plenty of talent and offers qualities nobody else in the current squad does. He has plenty of time to improve, fills up our domestic quota and we wouldn't get anything if we sold him anyway.

Where is the logic in your argument? It just seems like a knee jerk reaction to a young player not becoming messi after 1 season of top flight football.

27 Mar 2016 17:38:16
He is trying too hard, putting too much pressure on himself. That is all.

27 Mar 2016 18:16:52
I think there would be plenty of clubs that would buy him Harry if he opted to leave.

27 Mar 2016 18:52:29
sell him and get more class players like milner. not.

27 Mar 2016 19:11:58
He's 20 years of age and was decimated by Rogers. He was on fire when he first came into the team but Rogers coached his swashbuckling, fearless playing style out of him and he hasn't recovered since. And no I'm not using Ibe to have a needless go at Rogers (well maybe I am a little bit) but that imbeciles legacy still has far reaching effects long after his departure. Ibe just needs a loan to get his confidence back and we will have a game changer on our hands again. We are lucky we have Ojo in the wings (pun intended) so the loss of Ibe's form or possible departure will not be that far reaching. Let's hope Ojo fulfills the potential.

27 Mar 2016 19:26:08
Ibe is only 20, let's remember that and not write the lad off.

27 Mar 2016 20:02:42
Thoughts?

You want to sell a 20yr old homegrown player on a relatively low wage after 1 average season?

I think you're bonkers.

27 Mar 2016 20:37:48
Totally agree Ron. It's not football manager here! Some people are clueless.

27 Mar 2016 23:24:05
I really think a season long loan to a lower level premier league team would do him the world of good. He needs a place where he can develop week in week out without being scrutinised for every little mistake.

27 Mar 2016 23:50:18
The one thing Ibe struggles with is confidence and with fans like this it's only going to affect the confidence of such a young player more and more. This lad has an abundance of talent, which nurtured in the right way he could become a very good player for us. Time out of the limelight is a good move from JK so let's do the same and give the
lad a break. Perhaps then he can flourish into the player we all want him to be for Liverpool football club.

28 Mar 2016 01:37:18
Thank god the OP doesn't run the transfers nor player evaluations at LFC otherwise we would be in worse shape than BR left us.

28 Mar 2016 12:51:16
Well said Ron!

Some people on here are nuts!

27 Mar 2016 14:06:27
Ed02, I remember you saying the club were once interested in Hughes along with Ali, Do we maintain any interest in the player mate?

Believable0 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - Long gone now.}

28 Mar 2016 03:04:18
he has been injured for most of this season, will need time now to get back his fitness and form, derby fans I know really rate him, looks like that ship has now sailed.

28 Mar 2016 09:47:37
Will Hughes has just come back from an ACL rupture. He played a little in the Shaun Barker testimonial the other night as part of his comeback. We won't see him in a competetive match this season. Shame as Derby may have had a better season with him.

Ive mentioned before, I don't think he's good enough for Liverpool. I still stand by that but these kinda players develop at different rates. I think for the money, we could get better elsewhere and with more potential. I'd love to be wrong, being from Derby, I love to see our local lads do well.

27 Mar 2016 13:41:52
Most likely players imho that will leave this summer.
Out of contract- toure, jones, rossiter, dunn, enrique

Wisdom, bogdan, skrtel, ilori, yesil, balotelli, alberto, teixiera, benteke, allen. Lots of youth out of contract soon aswell.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Teixeira is out of contract and leaving Teixeira with interest from Sousa (but no agreement with Fiorentina) and Zenit who are already looking at the market and sorting out another critical roll at the club.}

27 Mar 2016 14:23:20
Is the fact that rossiter is scouse and has made first team appearances not enough to save him?

27 Mar 2016 17:15:31
I think one of the ed's commented about Rossiter yesterday Anonymous; due to his injuries possibly a short term contract until he can prove his fitness.

27 Mar 2016 10:39:24
Eds reading that Rodgers could become Swansea manager again. If he does do you see him trying too bring in a few players from us, notably Joe Allen.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - he priced himself out last time it came up, but he must be willing to drop his ridiculous wage demands considering how little interest there is in his services. I would expect he will look to pick up some players, but not too many as we pay them too much.}

27 Mar 2016 11:36:47
Fingers crossed then ed. what's your thoughts on Gotze ed? don't feel we need him unless Couts is off.

{Ed001's Note - I have not seen him play in years, always injured or left out when I have watched them so no idea.}

27 Mar 2016 12:56:41
No worries, personally see him going back to Dortmund, unless Juve can tempt him.

27 Mar 2016 14:03:51
He ll end up at Juventus if they agree to pay the money. In fact any club willing to buy him should pay a huge chunk of cash.

27 Mar 2016 14:37:50
Even with him in his last year of contract, hardly played all season and not in any form harry. i'd rather pay the money for Dembele from Rennes or Embolo from Basel.

{Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich offered Goetze as part of a deal for Gundogan in the summer of 2015 but nothing came of it - although Dortmund would take him back at the right price. Bayern have also spoken to his agent about a couple of issues with his constant bitching and whining. An enquiry from Juventus led to them being told that they would have to agree to pay at least his €37M release clause before there could be any discussions - and the expectation is that Juventus might agree to do making a significant bid and will open discussions with a move being mooted for the summer of 2016, but critically they are looking at other options. The situation is that Goetze has gotten to the point where he has not been playing regularly for a long time but his club are still looking for a significant fee to help him move on. Bayern are certainly open to the idea of using him in part exchange if the right opportunity comes along. As for any interest from Liverpool, Bayern say they await the call but there has been nothing. Whether all of this will prompt other clubs to look at him or not, is not clear right now - but many would see the investment as too much of a risk.}

28 Mar 2016 03:02:47
He's obviously a huge talent but we have a number of attacking mids that rely on technical skills and lack genuine pace in Coutinho, Llalana and Firmino (and arguable even Milner but without the technical side) . I'd far rather we went for a proven winger like Moura or Mane.

27 Mar 2016 00:02:31
Hi Ed1 (or ed2 if you know the answer) .

Has Ibe done something wrong? He's been missing for a while now and I don't think he's injured.

Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - he has been left out of the spotlight to recover form and confidence.}

27 Mar 2016 09:17:48
He has been pretty ineffective so far this season, to be fair. Since the return of Sturridge and Origi he has been taken out of the picture. The recent injuries to Divock and Firmino may open the door again, it will be interesting to see if it's Ibe or Ojo who steps through it.

27 Mar 2016 11:30:43
Ojo has the potential to become a better player than Ibe. He has the tactical brain rather than Ibe's head down mentally. That's why Ojo has been getting on the bench more and Ibe has been spending time in the reserves.

27 Mar 2016 15:03:36
Ibe has been spending time in the reserves as Ed stated to recover and confidence its not a issue or Ojo being better than Ibe i don't think at this current moment. Both have a lot of potential.

27 Mar 2016 19:03:32
jimblelfc2005 you must watch a lot of the youth games to come to that opinion, or it could just be that ojo hasn't done anything wrong yet because he's barely played. I don't know who's better but I would put my money on Ibe.

27 Mar 2016 22:23:20
as fans of Liverpool fc we should want them both to make it to the 1st team, first it was sterling vs ibe, now its ibe vs ojo, who's next ojo vs kent?
