Ever thought DC & KK could convince aguero that he would b a part of Lfc building a bastion of invincibility to concur the bloody world again? Along with Reina, stevie, Suarez, Carroll. Help Lfc win EPL & back in champs league.

Just watching our goals of the season on the Liverpool channel and I don't care what anyone says I'd rather have Suarez than aguero any day of the week. Lost count of his assists since he came to the club. Don't think aguero brings that to the team. And he's a little bit crazy. Which I like.

Im gonna get hung for this, but, am i alone in thinking that KK signings so far show just how out of touch he is? Carrol is a donkey, no two ways, Suarez has done okay but is never going to be good enough. If we wanna win the league nxt year i would get rid of meireles, loan out carrol so he gets more first team experiance, get rid of reina (he doest want to play for us) get rid of agger, kuyt and gerrard (well past it). Give the armband to spearing and bring in demba ba, lucho gonzales, emmerson ponce, ben foster hulk and mendy.

[Ed013's note - In my opinion Carrol was a desperate buy at the end of the of the transfer window although I'm sure he will prove his worth. Augero as I said is a long shot with us not offering European football I believe he will most likely stay in Madrid. Adam with the contract extension will most likely cost 10 million plus now but I do believe he will be in a red shirt next year}

Yea I agree about Carroll and do think he will prove it and
I agree about no Europe but if you look at the players city got with no Europe the first year and them players had champions league football.. I think players know were Liverpool will lie the end of next year..also kk and dc will be telling targets what other targets we looking at and this can also help..

Pablo ynwa
{Ed013's Note -I think we have an exciting future ahead and i do believe Carroll will prove his worth. Manchester city has mega amounts of money to splash so players went there for that. I would not like that for Liverpool as I want players that play for the shirt}

I was recently staying in Naples a week ago and was at peace with my inner self and my tranquil surroundings when through the open window I heard a car pull up and there was someone making a noise reminiscent of a pig squealing in pain.

Anyway, this being a stronghold of the mafia, I decided to take a peek out of the window and see what was causing me lose my heavenly concentration in my spiritual nirvana...and whoa this is where it gets awkard.

It was only aquilani, being taken to a mobsters den and pummelled.

So when they took him inside, I shimmied down the drainpipe and quietly listened in by their open window...and witnessed Alberto crying like a baby(nothing new there I suppose)...but the mob were asking him where he going in the transfer window, because they wanted to flood the betting syndicates around the world with their laundered money no doubt....

And Alberto was crying in hysterics at this time saying that he just wanted to go to bed with a cup if horlicks because it was gone 6:30pm.

So being annoyed the gangster then threatened to mess up his hair style if he didn't spill the beans etc...

And then Alberto screamed at the thought and said he was being used as a bargaining tool for A Madrid so that Liverpool could sign kun, plus £30 million...

Amazing what can happen in another country whilst on holiday ain't it?

DC and KK have said they always planned to buy Carroll in the summer and it is well known that Suarez was supposed to be coming in to partner Torres. Not only does this mean that we are likely to buy another striker as they obviously planned for 3, but I think it also shows how much the owners are willing to spend. If we forget about the Torres transfer, Henry was willing to spend £22 mil on a January transfer - which in itself is impressive as we don't often make 'big deals' in January, but also Carroll would have cost at least £30 mil this summer and that is over £50 mil Henry was willing to invest on only two players without the £50 mil for Torres. Im sure we would have also planned to buy more players this summer other than Carroll and so I think this would imply Henry is willing to spend a lot this summer. They would have invested £50mil on two players with Torres still in the team.

Having said this I do not expect any/ many signings where we spend 30-50 mil on one player. One of our biggest weaknesses for years has been out lack of squad depth and I expect KK to buy players who are around the £10-£15 mil mark, with maybe one at £20 million. But I expect KK might buy a fair few players to give us a bigger squad and to clear out the deadwood in our team.

So i think the owners are willing to invest a lot, but that rather than buying a couple hugely expensive players, we will buy quite a few players to increase our depth.

What you think Ed013?

Liverpool are discussing personal terms with Elia. An undisclosed fee of around £12 has been agreed with Hamburg.
Ed ward

its undisclosed but you know how much it is????

Mr E you are so wrong its almost funny Downing cannot get in the England setup because of Ashley Young ( Left footed) And im sure im forgetting someone so pipedown lad coz as far as im concerned ill have a player who has concerned ill have a player who has been consistently a star at whatever club they have been at. been consistently a star at whatever been consistently a star at whatever club they have been at. RED WILL
-------
Correct me if I'm wrong but joe cole and ashley young are both right footed. And its pretty easy to be a star in poor teams. The real test is if you can at a big team where pressure and expectation are magnified and performance is scrutinised.

It seems to me that the signings we make in this transfer window will be experienced prem players if possible.
We do not have European football, all we need to do is play well in the league, last year we lost 11 games away from home, mainly to lower placed teams that we, quite frankly and with no disrespect, should have been beating week in week out, we lack any real grit, someone that on a cold wet and windy night in Blackpool was going to grab the game by the scruff and drag us thru it.. Players like Downing and Adam would do this.
We don't have a bad team on the whole, we tore some teams apart last season but didnt have the where with all to keep it going.
With Suarez we alreay have a marquee signing, Carroll is going to be awesome if we can provide width and get crosses in the box.
So IMO we need to bring in two sets of players.. those that will get stuck in and drag us thru a game and those that can open up teams and rip them apart!
Id be happy with Downing, Adam, Enrique, Dann and Mata. We can't afford to spend time bedding players in, we need to hit the blocks flying!
We need to utilise our squad to play in the cups and keep our first 11 fresh so we can really go for it in the league. We have the opportunity to now turn our fortunes around and knock Utd Off our perch!!

Forget about getting Enrique, Adams and Young

Get Fabio Coentrao for £25m although he said he want to go to Real Madrid but given enough incentive (money) he will change his mind. Money talk

Get Wesley Sneijder for £35m although he said he want to go to Man Utd but given enough incentive (money) he will change his mind. Money talk

Get Xabi Alonso for £25m although he said he won't go back to Liverpool but given enough incentive (money) he will change his mind. Money talk

Get Eden Hazard for £20m although he said he prefer to go to Spain but given enough incentive (money) he will change his mind. Money talk

Get Juan Mata for £23m although he said he want to still in spain but given enough incentive (money) he will change his mind. Money talk

Get Sergio Aguero for £35m although he said he want to still in spain or prefer London but given enough incentive (money) he will change his mind. Money talk

Once again we set our sights on second or even third best with all this talk of Elia. If we do end up signing him, we will waste 12-18 months on a player that will be ushered through the player's turnstile until it sinks in for the umpteenth time in the last 20 years he is not LFC quality and he is not what we are looking for. I despair when I hear or read of players of this ilk being mentioned as posible targets, absolutely hopeless.

Re
{Ed013's Note - In my opinion augero is a long shot and that 40 million could be better spent elsewhere although augero is a fantastic player. Also adam will cost more then 5 million.}

Well ed I do agree with what u are saying about Aguero and the 40 mil but it only 5 more than big Andy cost.. And he will sell jerseys plus his wage would be fundable when we get rid of cole 100k a week and jovanovic and aqua..
Personally I think we might have the upper hand in any deal by offering aqua and 30 mil..

On Adam am not sure give are take a few mil personally don't think Blackpool can hold anyone to ransom now like they try'd in jan..

What u think will happen ed

Cheers Pablo ynwa

I thi kwe should sign riise again he was phenomenal and he stiil has it the best left foot i have seen in the game. Only be cheap and i think a really good signing he would come back aswell
Ed's what do you think about this??
{Ed013's Note - Personally I would love to sign riise again but I think it is unlikely}

27 May 2011 22:32:59
I have trust in Kenny will buy quality palyer or sty with the curent team. he is not going to look for chip and easy option. if small buget then buy 2 also ok but wish buy very good quality to cope with top 4.

27 May 2011 22:22:12
Hi Ed's. I know silly season is upon us and there's loads of really lazy journalism going about but is there any truth about us being linked with really average players such as Lee Cattermole, Joey Barton, Charles N'Zogbia and James McCarthey.Surely these aren't the sort of players that are going to improve our squad, especially with some of the prices that have been quoted

27 May 2011 22:45:10
ed's is there any truth to these elia rumors???

id be so happy if we got him :)

also what are the chances of getting dann?

cheers
Daryll

{Ed013's Note - We contacted his club about him in January and he came out and said he would like to join us recently}

27 May 2011 22:34:40
Elia will be the 1st sign. he have pace and a dutch player will be great with Suarez.

27 May 2011 22:07:31
Welcome Ed013. Do you know the other Eds and are you a Liverpool fan?
Would you agree with me that Sakho is a much better player with more potential than the likes of Dann, Jones and Cahill?
{Ed013's Note - I am a Liverpool fan. Sakho is a good player and is better then Dann and jones but he is close with Cahill and I would like to see cahill because he is home grown}

27 May 2011 22:05:25
Liverpool will get who they need to improve the squad....Our King Kenny loves the club as much as we do....a rare quality in football these days

27 May 2011 21:57:42
Am i mad for thinking Izaguirre of Celtic would be a much better and probably cheaper option than Enrique?? Also isn't Giles Barnes available on a freebie? Im sure i remember hearing he was going to be the "Next big thing" a couple of years ago, maybe worth a punt as a squad player??

27 May 2011 21:15:18
Hello Eds, I was wondering how to apply to be an editor, i've used this site since, well.. Last summer perhaps, i have a very active and good knowledge of football on the majority of clubs, especially Liverpool. I was wondering how to apply, this seemed to be the only way i could talk to you. I'll leave my email if that helps.

Thanks. {Ed003's Note - invitation only I'm afraid,I'll put a word in for you with the boss}

27 May 2011 21:56:29
This is the truth I swear just had this faxed to me from my mate who is an agent.

Dear SAF,

I am willing to agree with your contract offer and would be thrilled to be involved with your setup next season I know I will influence the team in every way I possibly can.

Yours Sincerely
Howard Webb

on the ssn website its saying we are being linked with Axel Witsel of standard liege.
anybody heard of this guy before or know if he is any good? EDs? anyone?
mikey
{Ed007's Note - He caught my eye more than Defour TBH}

I spoke to a standard liege fan in brugges a couple of months ago. It was the weekend this Axel witsel scored two for belgium...I mentioned i would like to see the reds buy Hazard and he said Witsel is a much better player???

27 May 2011 21:45:49
What is with all the people whinging about players Liverpool are/ aren't signing? The season has literally finished a week ago. And what's the problem with players from english clubs?

We WILL improve our squad this summer, just have some bloody patience, and welcome whoever we get, they may just prove you wrong, we're in good hands, and I believe whoever we buy we will get the best out of.

Christ wept.
Morritsey.

27 May 2011 21:44:40
If you would prefer Young (bel) , downing (unbel)

27 May 2011 21:31:05
I'd buy arjen robben and after 2-4 years replace him with raheem sterling

27 May 2011 21:25:55
James McCarthy is pure class, has the potential to replace Gerrard long term while being ready for the first team straight away. If we sign him, and him and Gerrard play together next season we will be unstoppable

27 May 2011 21:14:39
Two things bugging me this week.
1: will people stop saying we can make money from selling deadwood. These players are deadwood because they either comstantly under perform or aren't good enough or both, so who will want to buy underperforming crap players?

2 why all the excitement over downing? To put it into perspective, england have had a massive dearth of ANY left wingers, not even just good ones but ANY left wingers. Every england manager has tried downing there then ditched him in favour of players who not only aren't wingers but aren't even left footed. If he is not even the best left winger in a team which only had one left winger (up until johnson) then how is he good enough for liverpool?
He has decent dribbling, but poor vision, poor to average crossing and his extreme one footedness makes him predictable.
Not good enough.

Mr E

as a spurs fan, and i think i would speak for many!, i wouldn't lose much sleep IF he went to you or any club for that matter! although his final ball HAS improved its still not good enough! to be honest i think he has become scared of repeating his injury? if he has time to think about it more often than not he will not try to go past his man! one other thing i have heard is that he has/ will turn liverpool down!

----------------------------------------------

I know man! I agree! I think we should let him go! He really isn't that good! I agree!... See how annoying it is if you use an exclamation mark every second. Jesus... That is all.

Good evening all,
Fan's of LFC sholud keep calm and trust KK.He know's what is needed and will pull out all the stops to convince the right players to sign for us, we all know things will happen behind closed door's and not many people outside LFC and the club's of would be signings will know what the script is.Its early days in the window so don't be worrying.Reina and Stevie G are happy with our transfere plans for the summer so trust me we will be bidding for some big names but that doesn't mean will sign them and KK will have back up plans b, c, etc.Some players are only suited to play their football in certain leauges and it is very important that we get players that will survive the EPL.If a player would rather play CL football for an average French team that will probably never win the CL or sign for LFC who when we are back playing CL football(Fowler willing real soon) will have a realistic chance of winning it, then they are not the players we need.
I don't know much about Dann but if he's a LFC fan he would walk through a brick wall for kenny and that is the sort of player we need.We don't need greedy players either.We all need to trust KK, we only need 3 to 4 real quality players and we will challenge for trophies next season, I don't see any World class players moving this summer as there is not many True World Class players around, but there are plenty of quality footballers around.Quality flair players and quality workmen like players win championships playing together in a organised set up.
Keep the faith fellow fans.Knowbody knows what will happen.
Love this site, my thanks to all the Ed's and posters who make this site what it is.Really sorry for the lenght of my post.

the way i look at it, for pepe to change his mind and stevie excited about prospective signings we must be getting someone world class, someone who no one would guess at but they know them, let kk and dc do their jobs and all will be right, ynwa

27 May 2011 20:20:09
Suarez & carroll only cost 7m after Torres leaving over 40m. Suarez was bought to partner Torres & Carroll was 2 b no1 target this summer, so intention was to have 3 strikers + kuyt. Aguero would basically b Torres replacement. Aguero & Suarez r not just goal scorers but creators 2 & v hard working. It's a front 3 of ilk of barnes, Aldridge & Beardsley that won us a title.

So don't say we ant got the money, don't say we don't need him & don't say u can't play all 3, never say never at this club.

Jimbob

Why does everyone keep going on about 'marquee signings'?

No-one from the club has said about this!

They said their not afraid to spend money but nothing about 'marquee signings'.

Some idiot has just made this up and the rest of us follow like sheep its ridiculous.

No-one knows who is going to sign for lfc apart from kk and dc.

People who claim they are in the know are just looking for attention.

27 May 2011 20:00:23
Right...Let's look at this.

People think this - Others think that.

This site is full of rumours. We do not know who KD and DC will try to buy.

We know the transfer policy and we know that KD has been given a reasonable budget (50-80mill).

There are advantages of all our "Possible" signings. People like Adam and McCarthy and Enrique are proven in the premier league. They may not be the best but they get the job done and work for the team. Players like aguero are also advantageous. They excite fans and produce remarkable things which we do not expect yet they are not used to the physicallity of the game.

All we know is that KD and DC will have scouted, watched and conferred on who their targets will be and Im quite sure they are the best judges out of anyone to decide who is good enough to play at Liverpool.

I would also like to ask why people critisice Comolli?
He is a shrewd business man and he is determined at what he does. He looked into Suarez heavily and look how he is performed.

All liverpool fans need to sit back and watch what they do. I for one am looking forward.

Sergio Aguero has been the most talked about transfer in the last year but all that talk appears to be coming to an end. The Argentine superstar looks set to complete a stunning switch to the sleeping giants of Italian football. The press in the UK particularly has courted him with Liverpool and Manchester City.

Sergio has took La Liga by storm in recent seasons tantalising crowds and mesmerising defences with his skill, which has led to the press comparing him to Diego Maradona .

Juventus have struggled in recent seasons to live up to the hype that surrounds the club even failing to qualify for Europe last term leading to the sacking of manager Luigi Delneri . This sort of form is not good enough for a club of this stature and should see the club attempt to rectify this with some quality summer signings

With the arrival of Andrea Pirlo on a free transfer and the prospect of Aguero this must seem as a signal of intent that Juventus are not prepared to play second fiddle behind the Milan sides any longer. Juventus have been busy in the market and could yet still temp Carlos Tevez to Turin which would send a message out to the rest of Italian football that the giants are back and the Serie A title is the primary target.

27 May 2011 19:47:15
Everyone is saying we can't afford top class players but everyone will agree that when we spent £35 mill on carrol people thought he wasn't worth it but the owners spent without the money from Torres being in the bank.so if the likes of augero and matta and hazard are available providing the players want to come we can sign them sorry for the long post and not really a rumour. Been reading this site for about 3 years now still very sceptical

27 May 2011 19:40:04
Eds, or anyone that can help, and i hope this isn't a stupid question lol!

Where can all transfer listed players be found with there price, stats etc?? How do club managers know who's actually available without contacting every single club/ agent? {Ed001's Note - the PFA's official site, givemefootball, lists the players who are officially transfer listed or free agents.}

Hi there ed I have heard that Liverpool have agreed a fee with blackpool for Charlie Adam is they any truth in it and could everybody please stop with all the Aaron lennon Roumer s as he has no interest in joining Liverpool or leaving spurs at this moment the only team he would consider moving to is scumchester united as he is a life long fan source Aaron lennon himself {Ed003's Note - The only thing of note I have is Oyston wants a meeting with Adam over his comments in the Press about wanting to leave,I would imagine this is to clarify if Adam is officially putting in a transfer request(?) After international duties Adam is going away on holiday and then deciding his future when he returns}

Macca , have you heard anything on the following for our wings mate :
Mata
Marin
Perotti
Downing
Young

Cheers Macca you have become a legend on this site !

THEO WALCOTT SUPPORTS LIVERPOOL? Wow thats a new one for me. Would be fantastic to get him with his blistering pace! We would actually suit his style of play rather than arsenals run into the box and pass it around for 30 mins then try and dribble it into the net. CMON WALCOTT COME TO LFC!!!

27 May 2011 19:35:58

can WE win the league next season?

27 May 2011 19:14:20
"Oh dear just when there seemed great hope of an owner putting up real money not spending money we have got by selling others it appears we are yet again slow to the mark, from all the marquee signings previously mentioned on this site it would appear we are left with mccarthy, adam, dann, downing, barton etc all second rate mid table players none of which will assist us getting back into the top 4.
Come on LFC put up some money, pay over the odds, the fans want success!!! its been a long time."

-----------------------------------
Ignorant Comment. As far I know, Aguero, Lavezzi, Pastore, Vargas, Perotti, Marin, Elia are all players from mid table teams in their leagues. You can't judge a player by the position of his club on the table. Daren Gibson, John Obi Mikel, Gareth Barry, Thomas Rosicky all play for top teams in the Premierleague, doesnt mean they are world beaters. We have Lucas who is far better and Scot Parker's West Ham got relegated.

Bob the Red

Whilst I agree entirely with your sentiment, I'm not so sure that we will see 11 players leave. To effectively bring in and let go two entire teams would be massively disruptive to the team spirit that has been engendered during the 2nd half of the season.

I certainly won't mourn the departure of any of the players you mention (although I'm fairly agnostic on agger and maxi and suspect that they would either have to ask to leave or be subject to decent bids to leave in the coming window), I suspect that what we will see is a mix of contract terminations, a few transfer outs, maybe some loan outs but a few players staying at least until the jan or June 2012 windows. And there maybe some surprises here (Poulsen, even Joe Cole, although I'd happily wave them off).

In terms of ins, I am beginning to believe that we are actively looking at another striker, as even without EUL suarez and carroll will need resting, particulalry the geordie lad. N'gog isn't the answer and kuyt will likely be played variously upfront and wide, so perhaps there's more to the wickham rumours than first seemed likely, although I'd prefer a bit more proven talent.

Also, although there may well be a couple of deals in the offing, don't expect anything to be announced until the hype over the CL result has died down.

Why is opinion with some Ed's that aguero has a chance of going to chelski & Lfc next to no chance? I thought chelski couldn't put a package together? I just don't get why Lfc can b virtually been written off. Our club have not said they won't be going for him & player hasn't said he won't be coming to anfield.

god is it just me or does any once else get fed up of people on this site crying at the thought we might sign a player from wigan blackpool villa saying we should be looking at better Downing has been producing for years in the premier league his crossing is top quality and Carroll should have a field day didn't see fergie worrying that valencia had only done it for wigan. Adam has probably the best stats in the premier league this season for a centre midfielder yes he plays for blackpool...SO WHAT them stats are better than what Lampard was getting at west ham b4 he moved to Chelsea and started banging 20+ goals a season. McCarthy from wigan looks like a great prospect and maybe 10 million is a lot but what does 10 million get you in football now?
So my question is what would you rather see us buy a player from a lowe premier leaguge team who you have seen play and know they can handle the physical side and pace of the prem or take a chance on big money forigners who you have seen play a few times? How many of you on hear see Mata Hazzard Aguero Sanchez play week in week out cause i for one don't see them on motd or super sunday every week. I aint doubting the class of these players just doubting your knowledge? One more question how many of you thought Veron, Crespo, Shevenchko would have been shown up by players from not so good premier league teams?

I would like to see us sign the lb in celtic because he is a solid defender end would be cheap. I would of course choose Coentrao over him but Izaguirre would be cheaper and under rated.

For wingers i would like to see(not all):
Elia
Perotti
navas
mata
payet

Creative mid is DIEGO(If KK can sort out his behavior problems) If not McCarthy

Backup striker is Gervinho or Lavezzi which will play time to time. KK will rotate formations.

27 May 2011 18:23:12
Perotti for 7/ 8m, do IT! He's a good young, skillful winger, along with Marveaux on a free and a really quality expensive winger (E.g. Mata, Hazard, Hulk etc) and we'll be sorted for wide options.

Oh dear just when there seemed great hope of an owner putting up real money not spending money we have got by selling others it appears we are yet again slow to the mark, from all the marquee signings previously mentioned on this site it would appear we are left with mccarthy, adam, dann, downing, barton etc all second rate mid table players none of which will assist us getting back into the top 4.
Come on LFC put up some money, pay over the odds, the fans want success!!! its been a long time.

I see benitez is being lined up for the athletico madrid job thats good news for us if an offer went in for aguero he would more than likely accept an offer from us than anywhere else cause he loves liverpool that much. YNWA RAFA!!

===========================

Its not up to the manager who to sell to, not in Spain , not in England not anywhere.The club decides who to sell to and in most cases the decision will be based on finance and not about who you love or don't love.

According to the Telegraph Utd. have worg on formations in training...of course they have but the thing that mde me laugh was:

"Nani has been playing the "Messi role" in training, while Michael Owen has been playing in the style of David Villa."

Owen....Villa...really! :-)

Aguero's buy out fee of 45m is irrelevant. He has just burnt his bridges with atletico just like Torres did with us. He wants out and as such Atletico will have to sell him for the best bid available. The best bid may be above 45m or below, it depends on who bids for him. As he has burnt his bridges this gives buying clubs an advantage as Atletico have little option but to sell him. As for his so called astronomical wages I doubt very much that he is on astronomical wages. Atletico are not in the top two teams in Spain and their ability to pay astronomical wages is very limited. Why would they for example sell De Gea for £17.5m. He is young and not so keen on a move to the mancs. He will go because £17.5m for a goalkeeper is too good for Atletico to turn down. Top transfers like this are of course complicated. We are one of a handful of clubs who could buy him, though I accept that for example Citeh, Chelsea are better placed. Reality Red {Ed001's Note - the reason AM are having to sell players is because they are paying huge wages to Forlan and Agueron. It has put them in a difficult financial position.}

27 May 2011 17:39:54
I heard a lot of saying McCarthy isn't worth 10m ...... I personally think he is because he is 20 years old still basically a kid and is still learning ! And with the way the transfer market is going these days we could sell him if we had to in about 5 years time for 20-25m !! Anyone agree ? Ed ? {Ed001's Note - I think he is an excellent young player, well worth a punt.}

27 May 2011 17:36:41
possibility of lennon? delivery is not always the best but somethink we could work on. he is lightning quick and goes past full backs no problem. also got years of prem experience thanks eds great site keep up the great work. {Ed002's Note - There apepars to be interest.

as a spurs fan, and i think i would speak for many!, i wouldn't lose much sleep IF he went to you or any club for that matter! although his final ball HAS improved its still not good enough! to be honest i think he has become scared of repeating his injury? if he has time to think about it more often than not he will not try to go past his man! one other thing i have heard is that he has/ will turn liverpool down!

Dalglish wants players who can read the game and think quickly, which eliminates Lennon entirely.

not a rumour as such more an observation...

If Liverpool are only going to be perusing the Downing's and Enriques of this world then we can all get used to clamouring for Europa League spots for the foreseeable future. Those players are not going to make the difference so I sincerely hope we are not looking that way. If you want to compete for the best prizes such as the Premiership and Champions League then you have to buy the best players!

Liverpool FC is still Liverpool FC and I believe we still can attract the best players whilst out of the CL but you have to pay top money and convince we are moving forward. As well as we finished the season the squad still needs a major overhaul. I mean when Lucas is winning player of the year that tells you everything how many did he score and directly assist last season.

I honestly believe we will be in for the best players and our name alone can help bring them but the owners must pay the money and I think they will. Signing a top player in the £30-£40m bracket will pretty much pay for itself in merchandise and the owners are savvy enough to realise this.

I don't think Steven Gerrard and Pepe have been convinced to stay and are happy with the project based on a few free transfers and promises of Ashley Young and Joey Barton!!

__________________________________________

To an extent i agree, Pepe and Gerrard must have been promised something. I'd just like to point out, we signed The King from Celtic, when he was a nobody. Aldo played in the botton division. Keegan came from Scunthorpe! Rush came from Accrington Stanley! Buying 'lower class' players and making them into world beaters is the Liverpool way. We signed Barnes from Watford, although they were better at that time than they are now.

Don't be surprised if we sign players like
Izaguirre
Dann
Adam
Jarvis
Albrighton
Long
etc.
Players with the potential to be insane. Long reminds me of Aldo so much it's unbelievable.

As for our Goalkeeping 'crisis', Reina is rarely injured, but taking that risk isn't worth it. Friedel is a great option, but if not, I'd like Douchez from Rennes. Both free and experienced.

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed001's Note - Rush came from Chester City.}

Aaron Lennon , Swap deal for Joe Cole, Redknapp wants rid, I think kk would transform him back to his best .. Ed What do you think....?

27 May 2011 17:26:31
Hi Ed,

Do these players/ prices seem to be of a realistic nature to you for signings by Liverpool Football Club (in terms of actually happening):

Brad Friedel (Free)
Scott Dann (£8m)
Jose Enrique (£7m)
James McCarthy (£10m)
Charlie Adam (£8m)
Diego Perotti (£14m)
Juan Mata (£21m)
Sylvain Marveaux (Free)
Stewart Downing (£12m)
Shane Long (£5m)

I'm not saying that all of these should happen, i'm not deluded, but which ones, IYO, could happen from those named?

My choice would be - Friedel, Dann, Enrique, Adam, Downing, Mata and Long.

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Prices seem about right.}

27 May 2011 17:23:51
Hey ed what do you reckon about the aguero situation about him being linked to liverpool? {Ed002's Note - I refer to earlier posts.}

27 May 2011 17:17:03
Ed hearing some people talking about a Torres return. Do you think thats possible that it could happend? I just can't see how he would fit into the team, and i doubt the owners in LFC will allow to spend much money on him since he left how he did. What do you think? {Ed001's Note - not a chance in hell of happening.}

27 May 2011 17:10:34

If Elia and Lennon had a foot race who would win?
Levezzi is off the radar for now, do you think he will be looked at this off season and what will be his going price. Finally, Navas or Mata, who would you chose if given the choice of one?

27 May 2011 17:07:47
your mr optimistic!!

27 May 2011 17:01:45
Seb Larsson released from Birmingham. Only 25, great winger. Wants to stay in PL.

would be a great bosman signing IMO. Any interest from Liverpool? {Ed001's Note - sorry but what is your definition of great? Because I have seen nothing above average about him, hence his struggles to get in a side that got relegated!}

27 May 2011 17:01:00
I would like to weigh in on the Aguero rumours. Originally I was in doubt of the possibility of Kun coming to Liverpool. However, I am starting to think it is more likely.

First off, AM will not sell to Real. They simply won't. And according to Athletico's chairman Madrid has not even made an approach because they know AM will not sell to them.

This leaves only a few teams with a chance of getting the player: Juve, Chelsea, City, and us. I believe our main rivals out of this will be Juve. Chelsea would definitely have to offload one of Drogba and Anelka, which I believe will happen. But the Chels were also already put off the chase by Aguero's high wage demands. City too many strikers already and will be occupied all summer with a struggle with keeping hold of Tevez. So I think it will come down to us vs. Juve.

To those who doubt the switch due to astronomical transfer fees, AM today told Juve that the cost for the player is €45m (£39m). I feel confident that FSG will back us to this extent because they spent in January without the expectation of Torres leaving. In terms of wages, his wage demands will be high. But the wages of Cole, Poulson, Jovanovic, Konchesky, Kryiagkos, and Ngog combined are equal to £300k per week. With all of these players leaving I am fairly sure we will have the wage space.

So in the end I think it will come down to Aguero's choice, between us and Juve. Neither are in Champs League, but AM is not either. And we have his mate Maxi. And he is supposedly a Liverpool fan. I think he will choose us.

Feel free to tear me apart. I enjoy the banter.

Eds, just wondering if there has been any interest in xherdan shaqiri? Cracking player, bags of pace and a smashing left boot? One for the future maybe as he is only 19! {Ed001's Note - not since the summer, that I know of anyway.}

27 May 2011 16:58:31
Im happy that Manure are favourites to sign money grabbing Cashley Young (looks like he prefers more money over regular starts) - we can now concentrate on going for targets which represent betetr value for money- I've always been an admirer of perotti- him on the right and a Mata or Turan on the left would be a much better line up imo.

Go get em Kenny!!!

27 May 2011 16:56:23
to people saying that we shouldnt be buying mccarthy because we have jonjo, why not in a few years it could be jonjo, mccarthy and lucas in centre midfield!!
If both mccarthy and jonjo reach their potential they could be brilliant!!
Lastly id like to say, i have to agree with the ed, if any player is deemed good enough for kenny then he is good enough for me!!!
Ed what do you think of mccarthy? {Ed001's Note - I like McCarthy, I made a point of watching him before he moved to Wigan because we were looking at him then. I liked what I saw, though I wasn't sure he was ready for us.}

27 May 2011 16:54:16
i just wana say one thing, 12 months ago we were being linked to players like carlton cole, but did we sign carlton cole? no....... we signed luis suarez, and andy carroll for a massive 57m, did anyone expect that??? with kk and DC identifying players we should all just relax a bit.
people need to stop getting down because the papers or caughtoffside link us to players from last year, because they have nothing to write.
im just waiting for the people to start calling for j w henry's head because we havent signed anyone yet and the season finished last week!

I am writing this from Greece, but simple mind and reason appear to work without boundaries... If we are expected to show the door to the likes of COLE, POULSEN, JOVANOVIC, AURELIO, KYRGIAKOS, NGOG, INSUA, AQUILLANI (among others) the apparent thing to do is at least make upgrading buys for the posts vacated... In doing that, we also need to keep in mind that there already exist top quality players for some of the positions of the starting 11 such as REINA, JOHNSON, CARRAGHER, GERRARD, SUAREZ and CARROLL and of course the likes of KYUT, LUCAS MAXI and KELLY who seem capable enough. Therefore, we NEED:
1. a creative central midfielder of the highest calibre such as MODRIC or DEFOUR (urgently needed to crack packed defenses and utilise the movement of Suarez...) Reality Buy: C. ADAMS (decent).
2. Central Defense: Scott Dann will be a great buy, no more is needed, as new blood from the youth set up plus Wilson, Kelly + Ayala can do the extra work.
3. LB: Leighton Baines is the reasonable choice for formidable upgrade as he is top quality (amazing stats), EPL experienced and ready to offer from day 1 (Enrique or Clichy just decent alternatives). I for one believe BAINES will be a top target for us...
4. both WINGS: players such as NASRI would be great statement of intent and they could also offer in the creative central midfielder role occasionally. That player could be Hazard, Adam Johnson, Perotti, Young, Marin or Honda. Reality Buys: PAYET, DOWNING, ADAM JOHNSON, PEROTTI, N'ZOGBIA, ELIA (Young - chances slimmer each day).
5. Striker: Back-up striker is needed (Suarez, Carroll and Kyut already in place), which means that the bank will not be broken for one more striker (Aguero etc). The only way a player such as Aguero would fit in is to change formation to 4-3-3 AND ALSO TO SUBSTANTIALLY UPGRADE ALL OTHER POSITIONS BEFORE. Otherwise WE SHALL NOT HAVE a balanced and successful team even if we have Aguero. Reality Buy: Connor Wickham

Why do people continually post rumours about us signing Hazard, Pastore, Sanchez, Aguero, Neymar, Coentrao. We are not going to sign these players, If you don't believe me, Why don't you do some research of your own. I know it is hard, but there is a great site called Google, and I am sure you will find out why these players will not join LFC. And if you are lucky they might have some pictures as well. You can always ask your mum and dad if you don't understand the long words. Ross

Dann & Mata deals done / no Villa players though

I have heard within Liverpool supporters on the stock market Dann and Mata is going to happen, and Torres could come back in Jan window if new season doesn't work out.

I follow Liverpool home and abroad, and the reputation around Europe is Liverpool have more chance of wining the Champions League than their own premiership league, because a Liverpool 11 with a few world class players can beat the best teams & their multi million pound squads Europe.
In the premiership Liverpool have beaten all the top teams and lose to teams that usually end up in a relegation battle, due to depth of squad when key players out (2nd then 6th) or our flair players just being out muscled, consequently why we need steel to buy men of steel to turn loses/ draws into wins, which will define our shortfall of points.

Aguero and Conceatro are great players but i want to steel up our squad buying hard as nails players who eat mud on those freezing winter nights, those who will fight beyond belief for the 3 points like Baines, Dann, Johnson, Cahill, Adam, Barton, McCarthy, Brunt, Shawcross, Cattermole.
I know i am going to get hammered with Barton, but he always puts in a good shift, a top premiership performer this season and can be used in half of the games of getting the ball onto Carrol's head to turn losses/ draws into wins just like they did at Newcastle.

If we got a handful of these steelers and also flair of Sisokko, Mata, Hazard, Turan i would be over the moon...we seriously would have a team that could compete for the premiership crown come what may with injuries.

I like Benzema, Honda, Downing, both Johnsons from City, but do not fancy at all Young or Hulk, where if we do have the budget on top of what i've mentioned to pull of the signing of Aguero now, KK will achieve all his targets throughout the summer.
I am just glad that unlike Gillette and Hicks, Mr. Henry and FSG will not waste the time and place of Stevie G and really go for it now and surround him with like calibre players as with him we really have 13 players on the pitch.

We all know there are foreign players who just want a pay day, and then there are footballers who are football people who want to play for Liverpool.
I hope any foreign players on our radar understands LFC have beaten easily all the top teams in the EPL and had KK been in the beginning of the season, we we would be in the Champions League, with one of our main rivals on the transfere market not, and one year out of the CL is not a biggy because on the following season we could quite easily win it.
Liverpool is a purist football community and institution who refuse to fleece their own fans, sell their identity, or bankrupting their club to match those dictator clubs who buy up all the competition, thus any player approached should be proud to wear the Red Shirt with pride.

So after reading many rumours on this site which are wide of the mark, lets understand we need steel and some flair, and that Aguero, Benzema, Diego and Conceatro are just a wonderful bonus.

hey ed's this is my first time posting .. i don't know if use heard about this but iv just been on a spanish sports site '' marca '' and it shows and interview with coentrao how he says he can't wait to sign for real madrid , its a pity he would have been great for us but at least those rumors with him to liverpool are put to bed now. {Ed002's Note - So it took you two and a half days to get round to believing me?}

To be fair ED if we believed everything you said we would all be depressed at signing no class players, and become Chelski fans.. lol only messing with ya

Hi all, just received some very exciting news..

Hazard and Young have turned us down, however...

Downing and Mata want LFC. They were our backup targets for EH and AY. Both are pushing for the moves, fees will be agreed shortly. Personal Terms already agreed.

Adam is more or less a done deal, should be announced on the weekend for 7m.

Ed, what would be your thoughts on (out of 10)

G. Johnson + cash for A. Johnson and Santa Cruz (He'd be a cheap back up striker and a smart buy)

Marco Estrada - Montpellier

really disappointed to be reading who we are in for adam (1st half of season good 2nd rubbish thats in a poor side) downing(average player at best 1 good game 3 average games) lennon (great pace no end product for me) mcarthy( good season but in a average side over priced)these players are surely not what the king means are top draw players to take us to another level, we have had too much money wasted on average players who we can't get rid of, some of which we are still paying wages , we as a team can't afford to keep buying dross & i don't think the king will make many mistakes like past managers, kenny has 3 years to get us somewhere near the top & only top players will get us there imoeds any thoughts please thanks.

Yes Ed, there is definate interest in Lennon. He told some team mates at Spurs a month ago or so that Liverpool were interested. Plus it was DC that signed him for Spurs from Leeds when he was younger.

Kenny wants young British talent, Dann, Adam, McCarthy etc. Personally I would love to see Phil Jones sign.

Have just heard from the sources in my head that Damien Comolli is in advanced talks with Manuel Mata of Valencia. It is understood that it has all come down to a single game of Street Fighter. Mata is upset that Comolli only uses Blanka, and constantly electrocutes Mata's favorite character, Ryu. Mata has stated that if Comolli can beat him using only Chun Lee, then he will sign a pre-contract agreement, with a fee said to be in the region of 20 million.

You heard it hear first.

Have no fear, we will have more money now, the transfer budget will rocket. LFC have signed with Honda, all the players will now have, instead of thier very pricey cars, a HONDA 90 each, thus cutting the cost for vehicles and fuel and therefore reducing the wage bill. Also now LFC carbon footprint will be dramatically redused, Liverpool council are willing to cut LFC taxes, This also now helps in the development of anfield, as we now need just a small players car park and not the 10 acres they already have.
This is a very clever ploy by FSG and with all new signings recieving a NEW Honda 90 we will have no problems signing Messi, Kun and all the other highly rated stars.
I m off now to get my special edition Suarez Honda , it flies down the straights and is very agile thru traffic.
This site is excellent

I think saying that maxi is not good enough is a little harsh considering his recent efforts, and holding onto him as a ready and willing squad player seems a good plan in my eyes. Also i think moving Agger on would be a bad decision and I wouldn't be against Insua returning to the club as he is young and still a decent prospect.

So save the eds some time and use your little scroll button and read what has been printed over the last few hours, weeks and months.

Just on the james mccarthy rumour again i got 18 unb and 11 bel when i said he wanted to stay at wigan. We may be looking to sign him but unless he is forced to go he wants to stay at wigan believe me. Why would he give up regular football for maybe challenging for a first team spot get real.

Its dead funny reading people getting their knickers in a knot over stories about players they've seen in the media. I'm sure when there is anything worth knowing the club will let us know but please carry on, you keep me entertained during breaks in the cricket. I especially enjoy some of the crazy spelling.

With all this Aguero talk about him not coming to Anfield because of the costings lets have a look at the facts:

Our total outlay in the Jan transfer window was £1.8m NET!

Suarez and Carroll were looked at to play WITH Torres, not without! So on that basis the owners were already looking at spending around £50/ 60m! Take away the sale of Babel etc.

So on that basis, they didn't spend the money they were looking to, and from what I can Mr Henry and his partners plan well in advance and they will have had an idea of what they would want to be dishing out in the summer too. Maybe around £40/ 50m.

I know it doesn't work on budgets but on the players the manager requires but even FSG will have a limit in their heads.

So for the situation of buying Aguero, I don't think the initial price is beyond LFC in the slightest.

Some are saying his wages would be the problem! Yes they may be high but remember what FSG kept telling us when the first took over? The Red Sox have the second highest wage bill in the league! And yes I know ours is a little too high at the moment but look at the fact that Cole, Jovanavic, Poulson, Konchesky are all on a decent wedge, Cole himself could contribute two thirds of Aguero's wages. So for that one I again think it would not be a problem.

The one thing I think that would scupper the deal is the one which may scupper most. European football. But on this one if Aguero is an intelligent man he will see we are on the up, with no CL or EL all we have to do is concentrate on the league and that could give him one full season to get used to the EPL. Then move on to Europe.

So with all this info on board and the fact he is bezzies with Maxi and is an LFC fan...Aguero to Liverpool! Surely our front three would then be the best in the world, even better that FCB?

I hate it when people do this but.. What do you think Ed's?

{Ed002's Note - It is really not worth the grief I will get to comment. Yesterday I received a vast amount of foul and abusive posts from Liverpool fans who cannot understand some very simple issues surrounding the claims about Coentrao.}

Ed002 may feel he can t comment; but I can, so here goes

Almost a good point raised above. However; I agree (even if he can t say it) with the Ed that we won t be signing Aguero.
Firstly; I don t think we were always going to sign Carroll and Suarez to play with Torres. I m fairly certain we were just looking to add Suarez and Carroll came from being left with not much time left by Torres to find his replacement.

I also don t think the owners will have a predetermined amount they are willing to spend either. They won t spend money just because they can. They re not City s owners. They are shrewd business men and I m fairly sure they will look to improve the squad by as much as they can by spending the least they have to. If they need or have to spend £30m plus on a player I m sure they will but I d also bet that they would rather not if they don t need to.

Regarding his wages; can we pay £200k per week? Because I m pretty certain Aguero is, or fairly close to that now. And whether we like it or not, and it pains me to say, there are probably more attractive options for him right now. We may be a season or two away from being one.

Could he look at it and see how it all turned out for Torres? Sure he would be loved by the fans (me included) as FT was, If not more; but look at it from his perspective

What do you think Ed?...just kidding!

Just wondering what is going on in Kenny's head seeing as it looks like we're going to buy another midfielder this summer in mccarthy/ adam/ banega/ others. Has he totally forgotten about the exciting prospect of Jonjo and that lucas and spearing have just signed 5 year deals, and we also have meireles and gerrard already 1st teamers! There isn't enough space for everyone!

Source: Skysports.

"I've heard people say us not playing in Europe means we won't be an attractive proposition for some players. I disagree, " Dalglish wrote in his column for LFC Weekly.

"The history and tradition of this club makes us attractive whether we are or aren't involved in European competition.

"If a player thinks otherwise we are better off without him."

Well said Mr Dalglish! We do not need players who are motivated by materialistic things such as CL football and ridiculous amounts of money. We need players hungry for the shirt, play for the badge and motivated by the unique scouse spirit.
We are still a reckoning force in the market with or without European football because next year is going to be our year. I don't care who we've got on the pitch, I'm convinced that as long as Dalglish is the manager, we can beat anybody come hell or high water. Dalglish's signature was the most important one this summer, and I have faith in whoever he brings in.

Feels like I am one of the few fans on here who would be very happy with 3-5 young, up & coming players (like McCarthy, Dann, Perotti, etc) rather than going through the exercise in futility of trying to sign the huge names like Aguero, etc. An optimistic but realistic goal for next season is top 4 ...with 3 year goal of title so let's build accordingly. If we achieve Top 4 next season , then we can attract bigger names for the following season. While ultimately disappointed to let 5th slip away and euro action for the youngsters/ squad players.....I was glad to read of the U-19 Champions League which will be a great opp for the likes of Sterling, Morgan & Co. to test themselves against top class european opponents.
As a longtime US resident (and Red Sox fan) I would also love to see a US player sign to further the marketing ties here (some really good underage players coming through ranks here in the US)....and of course add an Asian player to tap further into that market. Football is big business now and I have been so impressed with the marketing strides taken by 'Pool over last 18 months.

Was just kiddin' regardin' the Ngog thing.
Anyway, ed, what's the current position between Mata and LFC? Is the interest serious? Have there been any talks?

Also, I'm hearing that we have interest in the Sevilla winger, Diego Perotti. If we indeed do, how serious is it? Have there been talks between LFC and Sevilla and/ or the player's agents?

Is it possible that both he and Mata might sign?
And please, please, ed, not that Mata standard reply.
It won't satisfy my question.
Just tell me what you know to be true, to be the current situation between LFC and Mata and Perotti.

{Ed002's Note - Perotti has been discussed at length and nothing has changed with Mata.}

Hi ed, how much would diego perotti cost and wouldn't he be the best winger to sign ? I think he would. Along with Mata for 23 mil i think we have the best forward 4 Suarez, Carroll, Perotti and Mata in the world. {Ed002's Note - Perhaps £10M.}

Hi Ed/ s

Just like to add I posted in Dec/ Jan about
Mavreux and expect that to the first signing we announce.

Apart from that no other info all very quite since dalgliesh took charge as he says "The Liverpool way"

But let's look on the positive side the biggest signing has in fact already been announced and that is Kenng Dalgliesh.

He will do his best for the squad and the club, we are going to strengthen that's inevitable but let's not doubt or slate our club for not being over extravagant you must remember the club has a major loss of European football.

We will bide our time, our time will come.

In possibly one of the worst teams in the premier league, charlie adam managed to score 13 goals and assist in 8 goals. That means that he contributed to 21 goals of blackpools so anybody who says he is not good enough for lfc is plain wrong. Imagine what he will do in a better team with better players surrounding him, a better manager and better strikers to finish even more chances he creates. Plus lfc have never won the league without a first team scotsman ;)

Love the site. .great work Ed's! Am I one of the few fans on here who would be very happy with 4-5 young, up & coming players rather than the excitement then ultimate disappointment of not landing Aguero or Hazard or whoever? Ambitious yet realistic should be the goal. McCarthy, Perotti. .players like that who we can groom to become the future backbone of the team. Top 4 has to be the realistic goal with title aspirations within the next 3 years. . While disappointed not to finish 5th and claim Europa League spot, the new U-19 Champions League is even better and is the perfect situation to blood Morgan & co on a bigger stage. Finally as a now US resident would love to see an outfield US player on the books to boost profile here and obviously an Asian player too to further tap into that lucrative market.
Rjb {Ed002's Note - Park Chu-Young would have been agreat solution for the Asian market and provided the additional striker. His goal is Champions League football, as declared, so may not be available. If a US player were to come Michael Bradley would fit the bill, but perhaps a real flyer on Juan Agudelo.}

Since Borrell now is promoted to the reserves, is it a possibility that perhaps in 5-10 years, when the King retires (taken he'll finish in liverpool), is it a possibility that Borrell might be his successor? I know it's a pretty long shot in the dark, but could you imagine this? There are others whom have had the reserves before becoming first-team manager, e.g. Bob Paisley. Would be happy for answers!

I hear that we are closing in on 10m McCarthy from Wigan...good player..

What peeves me off is that he was available in 2009 and liverpool had a long known interest in him, why they didn't sign him then I don't know. Wigan come along and buy him for £1.2m. McCarthy has had two good seasons at Wigan, now his value rockets nearly ten-fold...instead we spent £20m on crock aquilani....beggars belief!

27 May 2011 14:24:37
How many of you saw Honda on the Liverpool main page and got excited and thought we had signed Keisuke Honda? (Click Bel if this applies to you)

27 May 2011 14:22:50
Sergio Aguero would cost £100million.

It's widely known that he wants sky-high wages, and his transfer value is c. £40million.

£12million/ year over 5 years is £60mill, so that is a total of £100 million.

For a team whose only revenue comes from a relatively small ground and UK TV money?

It's not sensible, some of the idiots on here playing fantasy football would do well to think about the 'the good of the club' - spending money like water is not easy, in a competitive situation where being in the Top 4 is not even as easy as it was a year or two ago.

With Arsenal, Chelsea & Man United reasonably well placed, and well established, and with the improvement of Spurs and the cash riches of Man City, there are 6 clubs (assuming we can ignore the rest of the Prem!) competing for 4 CL positions.

Even without the distraction of European compeition Liverpool will do very, very will indeed to get into that top 4 next season.

The world has changed lads, and we're no longer entitled to a seat at the top table as of right. The people who have run the club over the last 20 years have allowed us to fall behind.

I'm hearing that we're most likely to sign:

LB: Enrique
CB: Dann
CM: Adam
RW: Payet
LW: Mata (Unlikely) / Downing
ST: Defoe

Would like to see a Left back, central defender, central midfielder and a back up striker brought in this summer.

I'm thinking Enrique for left back (not brilliant but consistant), Dann for CB (would have prefered Subotic but looks like Dann is coming from reports), McCarthy as CM (Brilliant) and someone young for a CF

Hi Eds,

Great site by the way.

This isn't a rumour, but what do you think our chances are of signing Frank Ribery and Mario Gomez from Bayern.

We have been linked in the past with both these players! Can I have your thoughts please. {Ed002's Note - I waould suggest chances are very slim indeed.}

27 May 2011 13:50:17
All these rumours are doing my head in because most are bull****,
ed's who do you think the 3 players we are most likely to sign will be......cheers rafathehut {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to speculate the most likely - what if Liverpool do not bid enough; the club do not want to sell; or the players wants to go elsewhere?}

27 May 2011 13:49:27
I think some of you are forgetting one crucial thing. The transfer window does not open until the 1st of July. Only business that can be done at the moment is out of contract players on free transfer, pre-contract agreements. So as for making a 20mill bid for mata next week. unlikely. Anyway it's all conjecture and just trust Kenny to do the right thing. {Ed002's Note - The transfer window is open for transfers between English clubs.}

27 May 2011 13:46:17
Very intresting all the rumours etc on here, who we should sign, who we shouldn t sign and who wont come.
Kenny will not buy a player just because he has scored 15-20 goals or made 50 assists, he will not be bullied into buying to keep players happy, he will tho buy to improve the squad, more challenges for team positions and keep the team consistant.
Intent does not mean buying players at 30-40 million, intent means improvement, and since KK took over we have vastly improved, therefore just because we have no european football next season does not mean that players will not sign.
Players will sign if they believe the clubs future is worth putting there name too- and KK believes that is the philosophy, biulding for the future and not for the now .
We will be in european compition after this next season, we will buy the right players to fit into the team and not the team to fit the player if KK believes a player has a role to play in the up and coming seasons then we have to trust him.

Kevc

27 May 2011 13:44:41
What Kenny is saying is, We have to get players in that improves the team, Meaning the deadwood players are simply not showing any respect to the players that give 100% to the club. Fsg did tell us it will not be a quick fix. Kenny has come back and stablised the club. Throwing money at it isnt the liverpool way. If it takes time, So be it, Have faith, in a few seasons, Are great club will be back amongst the Elite.......!! {Ed002's Note - Your suggestion that Dalglish is implying that some players are not showing respect to others in far from correct.}

27 May 2011 13:36:47
Sell Ngog for £8m? Are you kiddin' me?
Throw at least another £4m into that.
If players like Aguero and Rooney cost crazy fees, why should Ngog-- who's a better athlete and has more potential at the same age-- go for peanuts?
DC should whoever wants him: "£12m or jog on."
Good idea is to do a straight swap with Toulouse for Sissoko.
Ed this would be possible wouldn't it?
Even if it's not, £8m for Ngog is really taking the mickey.

Allan Bland {Ed002's Note - Perhaps N'Gog and some money may suit Sadran. He is no fool financially.}

JOHNSON AND JOHNSON
I really think the rumour of Glen and Adam being swapped has some legs. Bear with me here....

Arguement for LFC releasing Glen & wanting Adam:
1) We have Kelly & Flanno coming through for RB
2) Glen is becoming more injury prone and is on big wages
3) Glen wants champs league
4) Adam Johnson would fit perfectly in LFC recruitment strategy (young, British winger with great potential if he gets game time)
4) Adam wants first team football and can wait for Champs League

Arguement for MCFC releasing Adam & wanting Glen:
1) Jerome Boateng is heading back to Germany
2) Ego: Glen is Englands first choice RB
3) Fits MCFC transfer policy of paying over the odds (wages) for big names, even if they do already have Micah Richards
4) Adam only a fringe player and LFC not viewed as a threat (arrogance!)

Dont get me wrong, I still think Glen Johnson is a good player and I wouldnt be gutted to see him stay.

Whether funds would have to change hands in either direction as well I don't know. It just strikes me as a move that suits all concerned.

Anyone agree?

Red Gart

Just to add to below:

Charlie Adam is all but done (99.9% accordingly to Lawro)

The only other name mentioned was Ashley Young, he would take him tomorrow if he could, but would appear some way off due to other interest (we all know who!)

100% fact!

Mark Lawro was at Gary Nevilles testimonial this week and played golf with Dalglish and Hansen the day before

Basically my mate had to look after lawro for an hour in an executive box at Old Trafford
(Iv'e seen a picture of my mate with Lawro and he wouldnt lie about what was said)

King Kenny wants 5 players, but has also told the owners he wants to get rid of a fair few as well. The owners are ready to back him 100%.

The only name confirmed was Charlie Adam, Blackpools attempts to extend his contract are to raise the price, and why shouldnt they (we would surely!)

Cheers

I feel physically sick!! Aguero has a buy out clause of 39mil............... 4mil more than we paid for carroll!! I mean carroll is good nd all that but more in 15mil kind of way. He was, is and almost certainly will always be a terrible buy. I mean Aguero and Suarez?????? I really wish............. The whole big man, little man thing hasnt worked at all, and although its early days from what i have seen Luis has been frustrated by the lack of quality shown by his most likely partner. IMHO we were at our best this season with Dirk and Luis were leading the line. Aguero would click immediately with Luis imo because they are both, quite simply of such a high order. They are NOT too similar either.

Take your pick Eden.......but just make sure that pick is LFC!

The season only finished 5 days ago, people relax. What did expect? A load of signings in the first week - There's international's happening, Copa America warm ups etc.. And also many clubs don't want to deal with selling's of players because they're sorting out their own squads first.. Some one made a great point earlier about Reina staying when he spoke to DC & KD, now if that's not a hint of the fact that Liverpool want quality then what is. Be patient - the day will come and all will agree so will the jaw dropping transfers of top players.

Papers and websites are looking ratings and money therefore we are going to be linked with 1000 players so until something is concrete don't believe it. I think win the current liverpool squad we have 7 players who would possible get onto other top four sides : Riena , Johnston , Carragher , Kuyt , Gerrard , Suarez , Carroll. Due to most of these taking up the right hand side , left sided players are obviously priority. Downing would be good , as would enruque , adam for CM AND DANN for CB we have a storng starting 11 although i think there will be a surprise up our sleves somewhere (we all hope anyway)

Ed I love your site, but how come people see fit to come on here and make things up. The mentality behind it is crazy!

People need to be a bit more realistic about what Liverpool are actually going to do! Surely everyone can see that Scott Dann must be high on our targets list simply because he's a good enough player, he's cheap and he's a scouser! Kenny will be straight in their. He wont waste our money on someone like Gary Cahill because he doesn't want to play for the club!

Surely that sort of rashonale jumps out to everyone doesn't it?

No rumour but disappoibted that we are favourites to sign Barton, Adam and Downing. All in my opinion are average PL players. I would rather keep the squad we have. I don't expect 'Dream' players but surely KK can get better.

message to liverpool fans.

Ill try not to hark on as you are all probably sick of the Sergio (kun) Aguero rumour. I would just like to finally lay down some some foundation on this whole saga

I can confirm that we are still very much in the hunt. Going back to my previous post a few days ago.. After speaking to a close source of mine who has been chief European scout at 2 top flight english clubs and now is senior director at a un named german club he believes we are favourites to sign him! Thats ahead of Juve, Chelsea and Manchester City and these were the reasons to why he thinks we will get our man!

The striker and his agent previously visited Melwood and were very much impressed with the set up we have. His agent was very keen for is client to join Liverpool and were hoping to push a deal through. The stumbling block for 1 was money, we were under the cowboys at the time and also Athleico were in no need to sell their star asset. Now its a whole different ball game. Athletico have been made reluctant to sell after Aguero has confirmed he wants to leave the club and now with former favourites, and close by neighbours Real Madrid pulling out due to close relationships between the 2 parties, its inevitable he will go to the Premier League. I heard Juve were keen but i would question the clubs level of interest and also the players ambition to play in a ever ageing and selling league. So that would leave us, city and chelsea. Of course i think big money bids will be thrown at Ahletico but i think if we can match Athletico's valuation on the player before City or Chelsea have a sniff, they may agree to sell the player to us. We have a good business relationship with Athletico and its clear Aguero would be keen to play for Liverpool.

Any thoughts fans and ed's would be welcomed

Regards

Adzii {Ed002's Note - I am not going in to get in to any detail about this but I can assure you that Juventus have had two days of discussions with teh player's agents and have made a formal offer to Athletico madrid, which fell below their evaluation. I would also not rule Real Madrid out of this entirely yet.}

I keep hearing that "no Champions League means no big players". I find this shocking that players would sign 4, 5, 6 year contracts based on the most recent season alone. Myopic, career-wise, don't you think? Especially when the Reds are poised for much better things next season.

We really need two centre halves that are comfortable on the ball, look at Vidic and Ferdinand for Utd, they are two of the best ball playing Centre halves in the country. Forget lavishly spending money on attacking options, we need a replacement for Carra, Skrtel (who is s**t) and the ever injured Agger

27 May 2011 11:34:48
Ive heard a rumour that KK, DC & FSG know who they want and have discussed various options. Personally I don't believe a word and this is obviously made up since there are so many scouts posting on here about Aguereo, Contrao et all. Realistically I think we have a half a billion to spend and will swap all our players at some point for other players.

Remember, you heard it here first - lol

Ed, please could you rate each player out of ten, our chances of signing every professional footballer currently playing in Europe - Many Thanks

Not so much a rumour, more a hunch. But I have a feeling Nasri could be a surprise signing for us. He is highly regarded in the premier league and has proven himself time and time again. Is currently stalling on a new deal with Arsenal, and I think if we offer the right salary we will get him. He is pure class, great feet, brain, finds the net, young......the type of winger/ attacker we need.....No doubt Comolli and Kenny think along the same lines. Nasri one side and Mata the other.........mouth watering!

Would I be right in thinking that the following would be expected to be in and around the first team come nxt season..Miereles, Gerrard, Lucas, add to this possibly two wingers and two midfielders Adam being one. and if DC has his way sissoko being the other, Does anyone else think something has to give? For me we will try an sell Maxi, Cole, Poulsen...I also think if any prem clubs show an intrest in Shelvey, Spearing they may be farmed out on loan..

Ed your thought on our soon to be congested midfield area?

DAVE

{Ed006's Note - I find it astonishing that we are going for midfielders. We don't need any more central midfielders. We should get rid of Jovanovic, Poulsen, Cole, Kyrgriakos and Koncheskey. The positions we need are LW, RW, CB and LB, we should also go for a young striker to replace N'Gog.}

If eds are correct and we are restricted to mid level players.due to budget and no cl footy, then we shouldn't bother buying anyone since we have a team of average players and the only way to improve it is to buy world class ones. Sadly eds are right and only average players are available to us. Young is no improvement on maxi, adam is no imorovement on lucas and dann is no improvement on agger/ skrtel. Save our money till world class players are available

Mr e {Ed002's Note - No Ed has said that Liverpool are "restricted to mid-level" players. No Eds have said "only average" players are available. I take it you are a Manchester United fan?}

Hi Ed

These rumours are getting more exciting, but I honestly think that buying the so called best players the Aguerro, Sanchez, Contreao, is necessarily the best way to go. I trust and have faith in our King Kenny and his Knight, Steve Clarke and Damien Comolli. They have obviously identified the weak links in our team and will address them accordingly. While Aguero may be a top notch striker valued at +40 mil pounds our solution cld be a striker you do not necessarily rate. Who knew of Chicharito! Carroll be4 this season. I have faith that come the first day of the season we will be ready to reclain our rightful place in the EPL

I appreciate why the Ed's tend to play down rumours and the chances of certain players joining lfc, however I look at the two players we have bought so far (Carroll & Suarez).

These are both (for sure Suarez) top quality players and I see no reason why we would not continue this trend. I expect around 4 squad signings from the premier league, but also a couple of excellent players of the likes of Meireles & Suarez.

I also don't think they will be the usual suspects continually bandied around at the moment apart from maybe Mata.

Morning reds / eds
People have to understand that the days of picking up unknown gems (Keegan, Clemence etc) for a song are over. Very very occasionally it may happen now. But most of the young football talent are in academies, joined as schoolkids and signed at 17 or whatever.
Emerging talented players are subject to round the clock sports media coverage, all over the globe.
Now everyone, even us punters with our satellite tv's, know a good player.
So patience is key now. The clubs and agents know if they're sitting on a goldmine. It will take intense negotiation, competing against similar suitors, to bring the right players in. We can't just wave a 15 million cheque, say hello "we're Liverpool" and its done. Cmon, trust Kenny. Who better to have for our club ??
'kin transfer window hasn't opened yet and everyone's going mad cos we haven't signed anyone !

Ed, I was just wondering and I'm not having a dig at you in any way, shape or form. But do you actually have contacts such as agents, inside workers for clubs etc? Or do you just get your information from other sites which are more reliable than say the Daily Star? Or do you just make stuff up and hope for the best?

Genuine question, as I said, no dig intended. {Ed002's Note - Some of the Eds have contacts with players, ex players, managers etc at certain clubs; others will make sure the posts are acceptable and will provide their opinions as fans of the clubs. I am in a rather different position but I can promise that I try and avoid making stuff up and hoping for the best - "Coentrao signs for Liverpool" anyone.}

27 May 2011 09:43:11
There will be no Aguero, no Benzema, no Contraeu, no A. Young, no C. Adam, no L. Baines, no Turan, no Clichy, no Sanchez, no Pastore or any other big players coming to LFC.

Downing may sign.
Cattermole may sign.
Izaguire may sign.
Marveaux may sign.

Sorry to disapoint but every year we hear the same stories about Turan, Aguero and other big-money players but the truth is we can't offer champions league or huge wages like utd, Chelsea or Man City. We need to start being realistic, lets try and cement are place back in the top 4 before we have pipe dreams of winning the league, I hate to say it but we are miles away form achieving that...Great site by the way.

I disagree. Pepe Reina has already said he's staying because he's been talking to Damien Comolli about the future of Liverpool. If Reina wasn't impressed by what DC had to say, then he would be leaving in the summer, that's fact, not fiction or opinion.
I personally am not expecting 4 world class players all costing £20m+ each, 1 maybe 2 big name signings and a few less expensive good players who will be used as squad players, but will mature into world class players.

I certainly do not have the time or inclination to answer questions about random players that Liverpool have been "linked with". It'll be a link to Coentrao next.}

As I have said before Connor Wickham will not be leaving Ipswich unless he has a great tournament and they get a silly offer! Connor is happy to stay one more season to help Ipswich try for promotion, he has seen a massive change in direction since PJ has come in and wants to stay another year and then have the clubs blessing to move next summer. I have contacts at the club and would not chat rubbish.
Josh Carson on the other hand will not end up at Liverpool he is a die hard united fan.
By the way if I hear another Aguero rumour I will go crazy!

27 May 2011 09:08:03
I have heard within Liverpool supporters on the stock market Dann and Mata are going to happen, and Torres could come back.

HI ED WHAT DO THINK OF THE HAZARD AND COENTRAO LINKS AND ALSO DO U THINK WE NEED ANOTHER STRIKER OF QUALITY I BELIEVE WE ARE IN NEED OF A CREATIVE MIDFIELDER TO COMPLIMENT THE HARD WORKING PLAYERS AROUND THE SQUAD I THINK A SNEAKY BID FOR AFELLAY OR MARKO MARIN WOULD BE INTELLIGENT SIGNINGS I BELIEVE. {Ed002's Note - Switch off the caps lock. Why do all the tabloids and most people on this site keep posting s**t about Liverpool being linked with car boot sale buys such as relagation fodder and championship players?

Get real stop living in the past!! Listen to what the owners have said, listen to what the players have said (Gerrard, Reina) "Quality additions to the squad will be added" and
"Players who will improve the current 1st team" and "Players who have massive potential" to name but a few.

Just because we are not in Europe next season wall street journos will av u believe we cannot attract some of Europes elite players, nonsence we are Liverpool FC. We have very little debt now if any, we are currently in transition we already have great players at the club Gerrard, Suarez, Reina, Mereilas, Carra, we also have the likes of Kelly and Flanno breaking into the first eleven as well as some fantastic youngsters eagerly awaiting to break into the squad.

I for one believe missing out on Europe will prove to be a blessing in disguise. Without the distraction of playing on a Thursday all over Europe we will now be able to rest players between games and solely concentrate on winning the league.

With adding maybe 4-5 quality signings over the summer that will go straight into the starting eleven rather than quantity and moving on a lot of the deadwood we will have a squad that will definatly be stronger overall and be stronger in depth.
Remember Liverpool are one of the most attractive clubs in Europe, players can see what is happening there, they can see we are on the "UP" for the first time in a long time.

And finally there's the Legend himself King Kenny factor to add to this, enough said. We "WILL" buy some of europes elite players and we will add only the best for our club.

Patience fellow reds

Man some of you are idiots here. Don't you get it . The EDs are trying to tell you that Wiki is not a reliable source and that any idiot can edit it and write BS. But some of you muppets still believe it. Have patients people. Like the KING said "If we have something to say we will tell you".
If you ask a stupid question or comment, you are gonna get a stupid answer or comment form the EDs.

Keep the faith fellow reds.

To the guy who wrote about prior knowledge to Aguero signing just to 'show how fake rumours spread, ' are you a child? There's a million rumours about him on here aready. Try and keep it constructive. Anyway, I've heard that we've been linked (albeit tenuously) to David 'Junior' Hoilett of Blackburn. Not followed him too much but he looks quite tricky and pacy. Looks a decent player. Winger or striker. Not sure whether he has the quality of a Mata but it's interesting nonetheless.

People need to stop talking about out-and-out wingers. In a recent article with Frank MacPharland (head of academy) in the Echo, he stated that all of the youth teams are currently playing 4-2-3-1. Due to continuity element that the club look like they're trying to impose, I think this is what we will soon see as the norm in the first team (if it is not already the case). Therefore, expect to see a front four of Suarez on the right, meireles behind the striker, someone like Young but hopefully Mata to fulfil a similar role to Suarez on the left and then Carroll up front. Wingers like Downing won't come in to the equation. Having said that however, Kenny may well invest in the likes of Marveaux in order to give him such options on the bench.

Hai guys,
Regarding the Transfer..Heard that Pool has agreed to bring fabio Contero to anfied?? Ed what u think?? if yes ..then common 25mil for a single Player..means there are lot to come from the owners.

2. I don't think we need aguero or benzema...i think Mata or turan should come Ed whats ur opinion?

3. CB mus tbe there..Scott Dann I would love him to be in reds Colour ..Ed ur opininon?

4. Wingers and striker...if young and downing doesnt wanna come to anfield...le them not..bring Adam Johnsson..splash untill 20 mil..he is absloute quality on the left side...or even marveux will play there..
Ed what u think?

5. we need a striker...simple as that..some one who can scoe goals...at any given chance..

Ed what you think whom should we go for??

and also common guys its just a matter of 365 days of a comoon mans life..and we will show them where we are next year..if the above deals comes through..CL spot will be sure...
also a good start of first 10 match will put us in Title contenders..
NO Europa League, no Cl..only EPL.

Eds What ut think on this?

{Ed002's Note - (1) There is no deal for Coentrao I am afraid. (2) Mata or Arda would be good, but not great chances. (3) The is a good chance Dann will arrive. (4) Johnson is a very good player, but does he want to leave MC and does he want to move to Liverpool? (5) I am not sure that a striker that urgent but perhaps Gervinho.}

liverpool arelooking to sign 8 players according to a free lance photography for l.f.c, no names were mentioned but they have said there will be 2 top signings...hope they are right

27 May 2011 06:27:51
so many people talking c**p. aguero will not sign. the newcastle left back is no good so why do we want him. mata is possible. we will only sign 2 or 3 players. nothing till mid july tho. don't want downing. would like to see turan and adam in.

For a striker who scores slightly more than one goal
every three games Ag ero wages are ridiculous

It seems that he is going to have to consider a
pay cut to get his move as the top clubs in europe
are struggling to put a package together

Hey ed do you think we will make any big signings this summer. Fsg are known to make big signings for boston red sox {Ed002's Note - Liverpool will do what is necessary to improve the squad. Please do not try and make comparisons to baseball.}

Yes they are expected to invest similarly. If you recall that this is one of the reasons they were chosen by Ian Ayre & Mr. Broughton. They looked at their track record with their baseball team & decided that they were the most suitable owners. Good summer ahead of us!

{Ed002's Note - You have no understanding of baseball finances. Do not expect £200M spent this summer.}

From a very reliable source. Aliens will be attacking earth on July 1st 2011. Mission to covert all those that are not LFC fans. Check out Wikiped. if you don't believe me.

Kopite

In the King and FSG I trust.

Ed's - can we please ban any mention of Kraptalk on this website. That fat dunc tries to profit from the Hillsborough tragedy & any self respecting Red would never go to his site or FOWLER forbid pay him money. It is a disgrace to the 96 who passed to soil this site with any mention. Please ban all IP addresses that even hint at Kraptalk. News Now got rid of him, so should we.

Now for something completely different:

I have been reading this site for the past few days in complete awe at the level of stupidity shown by the masses. It makes me think about the time in America when Orson Welles convinced an entire state that aliens had invaded, simply by reading HG Wells "War of the Worlds" over the radio. If a website claims we have signed Coentrao, then it is the FOWLER's honest truth. If Ed002 posts a link for the news story stating Madrid are the ones that actually agreed the fee, then someone asks if the language is martian. The internet is full of made up stories, yet for some unknown reason the crazies all populate this site. All true reds will trust Kenny to get the right players & if they don't want to play for our great club f***'em

an american red {Ed002's Note - I agree with the sentiments entirely.}

All this talk of Diego signing from Wolfsburg, there was a time only a couple of years ago when he was at Bremen that he was one of the best players running around at the time, he is still a very very VERY good player but his attitude has been in question quite a few times. However, maybe with a bit of guidance from Kenny and a good deal of discipline from the LFC staff he could recapture that very classy form he showed a few years back, and at the reported 8m mark it would be a massive bargain.

On 1 July 2011 Fabio Coentrao signed a five years contract with Liverpool FC in 20 million Euro. He si Given the number 18 while Kuyt got the number 20.
This is from wikipedia page a out coentrao check if you don't believe me {Ed002's Note - At last a great source.}

.... not only is wikipedia the worst possible source for transfer news, did you not realise that 1st July hasn't even come yet :/ seriously people get a grip.

We are a champions league team, we've just had a couple of seasons off, we've won the bloody thing 5 times, players understand this, and they realise that if some of them do come to anfield, that we will be back in CL within' the year and seeing as players very rarely sign 1 year contracts, it's not much of an obstacle for them to overcome

27 May 2011 02:33:00
have a strong feeling our rafa will get a job in london or maybe a bit closer to home, man city, he's determined to get back in the english game and i for one would wish him the best its water under the bridge and as far as im concerned he served us well regardless of what some might say..JG

Why did macca about 2 weeks ago say that we are going to sign Friedel "deal done". Hes just a random dude he doesn't have any inside knowledge just like the rest of us.

Seeing as though we're looking at getting the better players from sides relegated from the PL, we should be looking to some of the teams relegated from La Liga.

From Almeria: Pablo Piatti, very very promising winger

From Deportivo La Coruna: Andres Guardado LM/ LW, David Rochela who is a very talented centre half and Raul Garcia for the vacant LB position.

From Hercules: Francisco "kiko" Femenia RM/ RW and if we needed a decent backup striker i think Nelson Valdez is an ok option.

I know it seems like a big risk to take players from a relegated side, but regardless of how the team performed as a whole, there are still talented footballers in every side. Same goes for Birmingham, Blackpool and West Ham... well maybe not West Ham

I expect Liverpool to invest heavily in the summer with up to 7 new signings, as well as Kenny moving on about 4/ 5 players. Friedel will replace brad jones, Scott dann will be brought in as he is young and less prone to injuries (agger). The left back position is a tough one, certain sections of the portugese press say that coentrao will join for 30mil but the more likely outcome will be either Enrique from Newcastle or izaguirre from celtic as Madrid have made their interest in coentrao known in the past and they can out bid us. Marveaux will come in along with another winger either downing or preferably mata with the prices being 15 and 20 million respectively.I expect us to buy a creative midfielder with either Diego coming in or Charlie Adam depending on how stubborn holloway is this transfer window. Finally I don't think we need another striker but of the aguero rumour is true, happy days. Kenny will cut the squad down with konchesky, poulsen, jovanovic, n'gog etc being sold.

Helo ed, quick question that's puzzled me for a
While. Under gerrard houlier (I think) wr signed a player called Jean Michelle Ferrari (sp?) can't remember how much for am I right in saying he never played for the first team? Was he any good? Bizarre question I know. Thanks {Ed002's Note - Oh man, I can't help but maybe one of the regular posters can.}

He made a couple of substitute appearances before Houllier decided he wasn't good enough, much like Sean Dundee - his name was Jean Michel Ferri. There wasn't a transfer window then, so we were able to ship him out quite quickly.

Portuguese reports claim Liverpool have agreed a fee with Benfica for Fabio Coentrao.
Most Recent Gossip

* Liverpool and Spurs in for Friedel

The Benfica left-back has been linked with an Anfield move for most of the year, with director of football Damien Comolli approaching the Primeira Liga runners-up back in December and flying out to Portugal to follow-up the interest in February.

Reports two days ago suggested the 23-year-old was on the verge of signing for Real Madrid, but now Correio da Manha claim Liverpool have agreed a fee with the guias that will see the player move to Anfield.

28.9 million (£25m) is claimed to be the fee paid by Kenny Dalglish, who is the transfer market for a left back as Liverpool look for a long-term replacement for Paul Konchesky.

If the Portuguese reports are to emerge as true, Liverpool have turned to the international calibre defender instead and have pulled off a transfer coup in prizing the player from the Estadio da Luz.

Ed, do you think it could work in our favour if Benitez gets athletico madrid job, im meaning in terms of aguero, would we have a slight advantage? as benitez might sell to us over chelsea and man city.
Cheers, Nelly. {Ed002's Note - I am not even going to go there - it is not worth the grief unfortunately.
