Do you think we will dip into market ed to cover Couts and mane?

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Done to death,}

27 Nov 2016 23:51:18
Yes we will sign a player to cover Mane who will be gone a month max. Along with another signing to cover an injured player. No need for Origi, Sturridge etc. Where has common sense gone.

28 Nov 2016 01:31:07
Might as well sign Gérard on pay as u play contract.

28 Nov 2016 01:35:10
It'd be pure stupidity to bring anybody else in during their absense, what happens once they're back? we have 1/ 2 players doing bugger all. When we half talent in the youth ranks it's pointless.

28 Nov 2016 03:09:34
If we where to do that we might as well just sign someone on loan or bring markovic back if that's even possible. I wouldn't buy anyone in January to cover anyone, only area where we are a tad weak is midfield but I would leave that untill the summer.

28 Nov 2016 06:26:37
We have some promising youth players who must be chomping at the bit for a chance - why don't we give them a shot?

28 Nov 2016 07:56:30
I'd sign Messi. That should cover Couts until he's back 😉.

28 Nov 2016 08:25:22
Yeah pips good point mate. But just incase we should also get neymar, incase Messi get's injured for a week.

28 Nov 2016 09:02:40
Never thought of that 16. Don't worry I'm sure Klopp's got all the wheels in motion. In fact I've just spotted Messi and Neymar having a full English at Bill's Cafe in Walton.

28 Nov 2016 09:56:18
lol a 'source' of mine tells me they're going to end up at Melwood after their brekky. It's all good now, we're covered.

28 Nov 2016 12:23:33
Phew! I was starting to worry!

28 Nov 2016 13:30:22
As of right now, no one is needed, period.

28 Nov 2016 14:57:57
Yeah. Wilson, Ejaria and Woodburn!

27 Nov 2016 19:33:46
With Hertha in the German Champions League places and Allan having figured in half the games (i know most were sub appearances), if this was the situation at the end of the season do you think he would qualify for his work permit? if a 19yr old was featuring that much for the likes of us, City or Chelsea the English media would be raving about him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Firstly the media would have nothing to say about it at all in respect of other clubs, there is no conspiracy against Liverpool and you need to get over the paranoia. Allan did not meet the Work Permit guidance when Liverpool signed him and he doesn't meet the new guidance. Liverpool could make a case for him but unless matters change with regards Grujic I suspect credibility has gone. What Hertha do means nothing, but if he were to play more regularly for the Brazilian national U20 or U23 side that would help. Else it will be another year on loan I would think.}

27 Nov 2016 20:37:17
We are quite lucky on this site, thanks for the information Ed!

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

27 Nov 2016 20:48:52
Not trying to wind you up Eds002 but how come he can play in Germany but not here, we're still in the EU, even, fair employment rules across Europe, baffled to be honest.

{Ed002's Note - The employment rules and the need for work permits vary from country to country based on individual government rules. Like television rights, income from sponsorship etc., many things vary. It is nothing whatsoever to do with the EU.}

27 Nov 2016 23:54:01
So despite we're all playing in uefa competitions ( not this yr) different countries can have different rules regarding non european players, doesn't seem that level a playing field.
Grunjic after his pre season deserves a bit of time in the first team but murphys first law states don't fix it if it ain't broke.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with being non-European, different countries have different rules for non-EU, African etc. players - it is nothing to do with level playing field - would you be happy for Liverpool to give up a very significant amount of their income (television money) to level the playing field with most of the European sides? Do you think the British government dhould have given up all of their powers to the EU? Do you want a very low cap on commercial investment in the club? More whining from Liverpool fans - really pretty embarrassing.}

27 Nov 2016 09:36:05
2nd in the premiership 3rd in the pl2 and 3rd in the u18s what time to be a Liverpool fan.

Sorry accidentally hit disagree!

I'm really glad that Origi got a goal yesterday. He comes across as a really good professional and has patiently waited for his chance. Its seems like he has the right attitude and ability to become a great player for us. Hopefully he will get a run in the side now! Watched the game yesterday and was starting to think it would be one of them days!

Match review ed?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - a frustrating game for most of it, we were very slack on the ball, leading to the breakdown of moves, never looking quite at the races, though still dominating completely. Sunderland not just parked the bus, they attempted to kick us out of our stride at every moment. They had no intention of trying to win that game, just to kick us into submission.

Then Klopp's frustration with the crowd saw him gee them up and get them behind the team, and it lifted the performance. The rest was, as they say, history. That was all that was needed. The crowd getting in behind them.

Disappointing to see both Couts and Firmino taken off injured. Not a surprise that they eventually got taken off though, as they were being kicked at every turn, it was bound to lead to knocks. To be fair to Origi though, he was excellent and totally bullied their backline.

Nice to see Woodburn get a run out as well, though he needed a bit more time to get into the game properly.

Karius - never really had any real involvement in the game, apart from smothering one breakthrough for them. Had a few times on the ball and was mostly accurate with his delivery, which is a bonus.

Clyne - this is the kind of game that he becomes a weakness, as his delivery and passing are just not good enough. There were a number of times he got into good areas but failed to put a decent ball in.

Matip - like Karius, he had very little to do, Defoe spent most of the game trying to be in Lovren's areas, on the rare occasions he was in our half, and so Matip ended up mostly playing in midfield. His passing was mostly good and he had about as good a game as possible.

Lovren - apart from one error, he was excellent. Like Matip, he was able to spend most of the game in their half playing in midfield. Had one stonking shot that went wide and got on the end of a couple of set pieces. He was also the man who kept them all quiet for the game, with his interceptions and shepherding. At times he seemed like the only player truly up for it.

Milner - he has really grown into the left back role now, providing a constant threat down our left, though his inability to ping it in first time on the run with his left foot on a consistent basis is a weakness. Other than that, he had a good game and put away the penalty to kill the game off.

Wijnaldum - a mixed game, he is everywhere, gets involved in everything, but sometimes it just does not come off for him.

Henderson - another one who had a mixed game. He was also everywhere, involved in everything, but there was so little room to play passes through that he was finding it difficult to create, like Wijnaldum. He did do a lot to make sure that they never got the chance to build anything, constantly seeing off danger.

Can - he struggled a bit in the first half to make an impression on the game, but gradually grew into it. In the second half he was much more effective and able to be an influence going forward.

Mane - not his best day, though he gave their defence kittens all day long, his final ball was awful. He did create space for others and their defenders could not cope with him, but he needs to improve his shooting, crossing and passing. Just an off day hopefully.

Firmino - as usual, excellent, ran his socks off, created chances, dragged their defenders everywhere and was kicked all over the pitch until we eventually had to take him off injured. Needed a goal though.

Coutinho - was looking dangerous, so they kicked him, kicked him and kicked him some more. They were pulling shirts, pushing him, and doing everything they could to stop him. Then he broke into the box, despite being fouled, leaving him off balance, which led to a block tackle (a clean challenge but caused by the foul outside the box) and an injury after just half an hour. Shame, as they clearly could not cope with him by legal means.

Subs:

Origi - came on early for the injured Coutinho and was excellent. He showed power, pace, skill and was a real thorn in their side. When they were trying to bully him, they were coming off second best, as he battered them with his strength, holding them off easily. He is a really special talent and fully deserved his goal.

Lucas - came on late for the injured Firmino but had little time to affect the match.

Woodburn - only on for the dying seconds of the match, barely had time to do anything, but he did get involved with a tackle.}

27 Nov 2016 08:55:57
Hi Ed. Do you not think in in games like that it would be better to rest Clyne and play TAA or even 3 at the back?

{Ed001's Note - no, you don't change a winning team until there are signs it has been worked out. We are dominating, there is no need to change things.}

27 Nov 2016 09:15:02
Like the confident reply! I agree but, like you, get a bit frustrated with Clyne's delivery at times! (Although he is playing quite well) . Also I enjoy our strength in depth and would want more game time for some. But I agree a winning team should remain as it sends a clear message to the team: keep winning and you keep your place! Come on you reds. I'm enjoying the ride!

27 Nov 2016 12:32:00
Karius also put the ball out for a corner from a goal kick and matip the same with a back pass which were the pair of thems only real mistake. Wijnaldum and Hendo first half and for most of the second were the reason for the crowds frustrations both of them would get the ball in 5/ 10 yards of space (mainly when deep) and rather that running forward they stand still and pass backwards? They were slowing us down far more and far deeper than lallana ever did. Mane had an off day and like ed says we were far too slow and ponderous on the ball.

27 Nov 2016 13:17:31
Ed001, if Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana and Sturridge are still missing, who would you start up top for the next game?

{Ed001's Note - Origi.}

27 Nov 2016 14:13:55
i thought wiji had a pretty good game, thought he was really neat in possession, i agree he could and should and i believe he will start to have more influence.

27 Nov 2016 14:42:27
thanks ed1 mate.

27 Nov 2016 15:06:45
Even though I hope Firmino and Lallana are playing next weekend, I think it's time to give young Brannagan his shot (I'm assuming Coutinho and Sturridge will be out) .

27 Nov 2016 03:56:23
Really good win yesterday, especially so given we had a similar game only recently against Southampton in which we couldn't quite find the break through. I'd actually argue that we had the better chances in that game but that, against Sunderland, we got the rub of the green and the ball went in. Thought we were, again, deserving of victory and that our teamplayed very well, paericularly in the 2nd half.

Emre Can frustrated me in the 1st half but he improved markedly and was at the centre of much of our good play in the 2nd. Firmino was superb throughout. I thought Mane, despite getting us a goal, looked a little rusty, had a number of heavy touches. Henderson was imperious - the job he does, in the system we play, is hugely important and he did it very well yesterday, well done lad! It was also very pleasing to see Karius play well, distribute the ball well and be brave when it mattered - he's starting to settle, hope he keeps his good form up. Onwards and upwards, we keep playing well - the Coutinho injury is a negative but this is were the quality of the squad comes in - let's see how we manage in his absence.

Coutinho out, DS out. Originally in and I will expect Gruljic to come in at this stage. So origi up front, supported by Mane, Grujic/ Lallana, Firmino. Can and Hendo to hold midfield. Back 4 same.

27 Nov 2016 07:20:03
Wijnaldum?

28 Nov 2016 03:26:35
Nah mate give pretty much all the first team a rest, play our second string side, it's good enough and has first team quality players in it. Even if we are to lose if gives some of the youngsters a chance and prevents further damning injuries. This is where our fitness will get tested to the max and if we continue how we are results might well be affected.

I would play mignolet, Alexander Arnold, Lucas, Klavan, Moreno, Stewart, grujic, can or brannagan (not sure what has happened to brannagan but I would like to see him start), origi up top supported by mane and ejaria Woodburn.

Question for ed001 if he's about or ed002 is she's about. not strictly Liverpool related and also not motd fever but how has fernando Torres llorente gone from the player he was at athletic Bilbao to playing at Swansea? . i'm not saying Swansea is a bad team but I always expected him to go somewhere like Barcelona or Madrid. has he just had bad form, injury or is it an attitude problem that has held him back?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he went to Italy and lost confidence playing in a poorly coached and managed team.}

27 Nov 2016 10:06:04
Talking about Swansea and llorente. Watched motd lastnight to watch reds. But was intrigued by Wat people were calling a premier ' classic '. Swansea v palace. I sat down with my brandy and coke to watch the game. Pathetic. There was 1 good goal. The others were piss poor defending and really scrappy goals. Far from classic. I've seen Halewood labour play better on a freezing cold pitch on a Sunday morning. But anyway, well done reds! Rant over.

27 Nov 2016 20:59:35
You want to try living in Swansea and watching those crap goals.

28 Nov 2016 03:29:06
Any match that consists of a truck load of goals is mainly due to bad defending. Liverpool vs Dortmund is a European classic but the defending was shite, hence why there was so many goals.

27 Nov 2016 01:24:48
what is our defence playing at keeping back to back clean sheets? . home form is going to be vital to us so as far as i'm concerned this was a deserved and welcome victory.

28 Nov 2016 13:37:03
We have one of the best defences in the PL as of right now but the media and the haters will never mention that.

27 Nov 2016 00:30:03
I have to say it was great to see Klopp having a go at the fans for moaning today. I used to go to white hart lane a lot (with my job at the time) and always scoffed at how the Spurs fans would jump on their teams back as soon as things didn't go their way. I always thought, you don't get that at Anfield but in recent times I've noticed it creeping in more and more. Hopefully what happened today has changed some attitudes and we can look forward to more positivity from the amazing Anfield crowds in future.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's just the fickleness of modern football supporters, watch any the live chats and you'll see people wanting a player dropped or even sold for misplacing a pass, it's pathetic.}

27 Nov 2016 00:45:00
True ed7, which is one of many reasons why I don't use the chat. I'd rather watch the game!

{Ed007's Note - It's the same with any team though so that wasn't a dig at Liverpool fans mate. People used to say you're only as good as your last game - now it's you're only as good as your last touch of the ball. It's outrageous the pressure put on young players these days to play a perfect game in the fan's eyes. I've seen it with Celtic fans about Keiran Tierney, a couple of loose passes or poor crosses and he should be dropped - how's he going to learn and improve by being dropped?}

27 Nov 2016 03:58:28
I'm glad Klopp did that - you need positivity and support, not groans every time something doesn't happen as you want. I hope he keeps calling out the fans for doing that - the support was good for much of the game, it needs to continue the full 90 - push that team over the line if you can.

27 Nov 2016 07:26:31
The live chat is shocking only been on it twice and for about a minute each time.

{Ed001's Note - it keeps the morons off the main site though, otherwise it would be scrapped altogether, as I hate the live chats and refuse to have anything to do with them.}

27 Nov 2016 10:04:31
Cheers for the replies eds. I've never been on the live chat but I did have texts from 2 mates after 70 minutes saying how it's typical of us and how our squad is rubbish! Winds me up there's still 20 minutes left and we all know what happened after that! It's like for some fans they're not happy unless they've got something to moan about.

28 Nov 2016 01:38:57
I agree with you ed7 mate.

{Ed007's Note - The Celtic live chat is decent btw, just talking pish and having a laugh - I want a payrise for baby sitting ths Utd one!!!!

28 Nov 2016 08:46:08
Been on one years ago and the vitriol aimed at our own players made me question whether they were liverpool fans. Never been back on one since, and its why i have never been on the one on this site. Going by the commentary from some on the regulars on here it seems to have gotten worse.

I loved what klopp did yesterday, even origi commented on how it helped the team when they felt the crowd was behind them. I can't get to the games but if i could i would be screaming my head off, i just don't get why some fans go to just sit in silence and moan when it don't happen just like when they are playing fifa 15.

27 Nov 2016 00:01:13
It looks like A bit of a break away at the top Of The league at the moment, got to say I think it's great news for us, 20% more points than Spurs, third Of The season already done.
Just hope the little magician can come back before Mane goes away.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

27 Nov 2016 00:37:17
I agree, it's looking like the current top 4 will be there come may with Utd and Spurs battling for 5th and 6th. They are both good sides but don't have the fire power of the teams above them. I fancy us to do it this season we are completely dominant every game these days and something just feels right with the manager, players and fans right now.

28 Nov 2016 13:40:34
Both teams simply lack goals, period. and that will be their undoing. I do commend Spurs for showing up Chelsea`s vaunted 3-4-3 system in the first half as Conte got found out and Spurs should already have been 2-3 up before Pedro`s great goal. Many teams will see that first half and know that system has been found out.
