150K hits a day. Ed001 your should dedicate a day in the future(promote it for 2-3 months) that your should team up with someone like the JFT96 foundation or the 23 foundation and have a charity day. access for that day via paypal for 1 pound. do give then don't read or post. Just saying........ Phenomenal numbers there mate.

Chi-Paul {Ed001's Note - that is a very good idea, remind me about it after the window, when I am not so frazzled!}

Brilliant idea.

Maybe for the last day of the January transfer window Ed? Surely that's a big one for the site?

Would be a great community effort- love the idea Chi-Paul! {Ed001's Note - there is no way the servers would cope with that, though I do like the idea. I will have a chat with Ed033 about it after this window shuts, he might have a way round the possible server issues.}

U shud do it on dedline day cos even mor ppl will visit

Thanks for taking it on board Ed. I will remind you. Maybe 1 pound minimum with the option to donate what ever amount you want over that. I think deadline day is too crazy to worry about it, but maybe do a little promo on the page for a month to bring awareness of the day. Imagine if we could get 25K-50K raised.

Chi-Paul {Ed052's Note - Haha yes, we would be rich hahaha}

Ed001, have you heard anything on the suso front or still awaiting a reply.

Cheers,

BenO' {Ed001's Note - still waiting on that one, I got distracted discussing some of the other things going on right now, transfers wise.}

Do tell what some of these other things might be Ed001. BTW I love it when you reply, I enjoy your reply's the most. And it's always perfect timing for me as you tend to reply late at night over there which is morning here just after i've gotten up. Perfect timing!

KiwiRed {Ed001's Note - some talk about Bullard's move to MK Dons being at the behest of Winkelman and not being Robbo's choice. Then there was the suggestion that, on top of Willian etc, Del Piero is interesting Spurs, though I don't believe that one! There was a discussion on who Adam is now willing to go to, Everton seems to be first choice, though he will now consider London too. The lad has just got married and he isn't going to risk that for a loan move to Swansea, like the club tried to tell him to make. Colin Wan, er I mean Neil Warnock has apparently asked the Prem clubs for a list of possible loanee players. The talk of Walcott to City is believed to be just talk, Sinclair is the chosen player, but they are not happy with the price being quoted, it was suggested that talk of a move for Walcott was leaked to pressure Swansea into accepting their bid. Better that than them being stuck with a player who doesn't want to be there. Oh and the info I had about us looking for a left back was apparently out of date, we tried to sign one, the move fell through and that was why Downing was given a run out at left back against Hearts. There were also a few things that I can't discuss on here, having given my word not to mention them, which is frustrating!}

Thank you very very very much for your time ed001 and all the other eds =) {Ed001's Note - no worries, I was going to put that all into a note for myself anyway, so I can just c'n'p it from here later now into my notes for future reference.}

Wow that's a lot of info mate, cheers! I think if Spurs were now to sign Lloris, Willian and Del Piero in addition to Dembele they will be very strong. The only downside is their manager, AVB aka Absolutely-Vacant-Backline! Interesting about Bullard though, does anyone really want him? I feel a bit sorry for him with the injuries he's had. I think Downing at Left back is actually an excellent idea and I like it a lot. With regards to the info you can't divulge ed001, is that to do with us or other clubs? And would you be able to perhaps hint at what it might be?

Cheers mate!

KiwiRed {Ed001's Note - my personal opinion is that Del Piero's agent is trying to claim interest from Spurs in order to drum up interest from somewhere other than just Sion. You never know though, AVB may rate him, even though he is getting on a bit. I don't feel sorry for Bullard, his injury problems are mostly down to a lack of professionalism, if he had been fit, they mostly wouldn't have occurred. With regards to Downing, it seems Enrique is not seen as a long term solution, Rodgers seems as keen as I was on him prior to us getting him. Some of the info I can't talk about was related to us, but it was all personal stuff, not all really of much interest. Nothing particularly juicy with regards to Liverpool.}

Much appreciated ed001 , what are we all going to do when the transfer window closes!

Some things on the dodgy rumours are actually more believable than stuff on here!

Lil Red

Yes - agree there is some awful s***e on here tonight but just had a look at the dodgy rumours and Rooney to Liverpool and Carroll to Barcelona are truly world class rumours - but I have one better:

A very trusted source whom I cannot name as he has put his life at risk has reliably informed that we have put in a monster double bid to take Messi and Ronaldo (not the fat Brazilian) with Adam and Joe Cole going the other way in a straight swap. You heard it here first, remember the name, don't shoot the messenger and whatever other bull***t expressions I'm supposed to use when posting my 100% fact.

spurs hav had a 15mil bid accepted for dembele wat a great player wish we Could sign him would be awesome,, eds any info on who our targets are now besides dempsey of course
Basy

Very different player to Modric though... I like him a lot!

Why the fook cant we? Kennys wasted millions i suppose

Dembele average player at best! We have no need for more midfielders! Lets just hope work is being done to secure a striker! I would be over the moon with dempsey n walcott n imo would be the icing on the cake to a fantastic transfer window! Eds i salute you!
HARDY1892 YNWA

We hav allen n sahin we need a goalscorer ffs

Poster above we need both

Shane Long signing apparently deals been done a while. Maybe that's why he missed the penalty?? Fishy ay!

Rodgers rates him highly.

Makes me laugh when someone 'in the know' is all like "just had word from my source!" then 2mins later the same rumor Is posted with a link to itv sports page or a website..... I think you'll find you know no more than the rest of us and are stupid enough to think that out of 1000's of people that view this site a day aren't also checking a website/itv/bbc etc

Bugs me a little when the same information is posted several times too, if they're the ones being posted I'd hate to think how many come through to you eds that you do 'at post haba

Brill site keep it up

Fulham have accepted a bid from Tottenham for Dembele SSN

28 Aug 2012 22:57:53
Hello Ed's
Can you clear a few things up for me please
1. Is Dempsey signing for us or Sunderland
2. Is it possible we may sign Walcott.
3. Are the Huntellarr rumours true.

Thanks
GAM {Ed019's Note - Most probably us, yes, not that we know of

28 Aug 2012 22:57:14
Downing to Fulham with Dempsey coming the other way! Not Adam that was bull. Rodgers believes if he can get Downing off the books he can sign Sinclair or Afellay. Also Sturridge imminent.

I have just read an article stating that Rodgers wants Downing to play left back... On a long term basis.
I think this would be a great move.
Good distribution, quick, does not dive in but is afraid of a tackle which is the only downside. According to the article Downing is happy to play there as well as Rodgers has had a word.
Bold move?
jonnybarnes89-90

Downing is going to be used as a left back. So he is not leaving

28 Aug 2012 22:56:34
Dembele to spurs 15 mill fee agreed

28 Aug 2012 22:54:16
Adam to be given a lifeline by Rodgers due to Spearing agreeing to leave the club. I've also heard we actually are in for Affelay and Sturridge hope this is true as my source is a hit and miss. He's been right with Borini Allen an Sahin up to now. Although he told me Dempsey had signed so I stuck £50 on it at 3/1. He obviously did not mension Assaidi as I think no-one new anything about that one.

Hoping Dempsey signs along with Affelay and Sturridge :D

Highly unlikely Adam gets a reprieve unless a buyer cannot be found. We have enough midfielders even with Jay going. Adam is simply not good enough.

28 Aug 2012 22:53:28
Where is all this about Lucas being out for 2 months stuff come from? It looked like a thigh strain to me, nothing to do with his knee. The last I heard, he was due to be ready again in mid September. What has changed? Or are all these people talking cr*p?

Nick

28 Aug 2012 22:51:55
I'd rather pay 15m on mertens than going for sturridge/walcott . Any chance ed052?

Interesting name to throw out there. Hmmm...

28 Aug 2012 22:48:06
baines to sign
10.54pm friday
for 9.5 millon

or 4.5 millon with adam going the other way

Would be a great signing, never in a million years though

Lol... how cool would that be but never would happen...

28 Aug 2012 22:46:25
Dembele going to spurs 15 mill

28 Aug 2012 22:46:18
I think the Sturridge, Walcott and Huntelaar rumours are smokescreens. If we sign anyone it'll be Dempsey. If Carroll goes we'll go for Lewandowski.

Lol smokescreens don't exist

28 Aug 2012 22:44:20
Walcott has said he does not want to sign a new contract he will be leaving for sure! But where too?.... Eds what are put chances of signing him and who would be our rivals to sign him? After all the lad is a boyhood lfc fan!

Article says that us and City are trying to sign him...which means he could play for his boyhood club or a lot of money...

28 Aug 2012 22:43:56
Hi eds and fellow lfc supporters,
could you please tell me out of ten what are the chances of buying these players:
Theo Walcott
Ibrahim Afellay
Daniel Sturridge
Klaas Jan Huntelaar
Clint Dempsey

Thank you Eds love this site, very addictive.
btw can you tell me if we could be in for anyone else.
Thanks {Ed019's Note - Sorry we don't do that}

We can get Walcott for under 10 million if we play our cards right. Wenger will NEVER let a player leave for free and I am not convinced that Mancini is interested.

BthekingB

Plus i dony yhink they wana let anuda playa go to city
5gold stars

Mancini can use his Arsenal club card points on Walcott.

Will not be for £10 million but you r very welcome to him. Loads of pace, can't cross and hasn't got a brain. Would you take Bentner or Chamakh too
Paul Belfast

28 Aug 2012 22:36:09
Afellay told he can leave barca on loan or transfer.

Better than downing and would rather pay 6 for him than 13 to 15 for Walcott

I hope we offload Adam Hendo spearing cole pacheco Carroll

If we can get 15 for Carroll Brendan can surely get some one who will score more than 4 league goals in 18 months

Don't understand why people want rid of Henderson.

Behave - Carroll hasn't been given a proper chance, and saying get rid of Henderson - proves you have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever about football.

John B

How much more of a chance does he need? What is it 44 games thus far? Probably at least 150+ training sessions/squad games?

We need a striker who can put in at least 1 every 3 games, preferably more like 1 every 2. Do you honestly see Andy scoring 20+ this season if he starts every game? Not to mention he weakens the team defensively as he can't press as much as others, so we're more likely to see opposition goals with him on the field as well (although to be fair he's brilliant at covering for set pieces).

Without a clinical goal scoring threat who has some pace and movement, things will be very difficult this season.

I think Andy would be a brilliant player for a number of teams, but just not Brendan's LFC.

It seems Rodgers may not rate Hendo...

28 Aug 2012 22:32:42
I believe Jay Spearing and Charlie Adam have agreed to leave the club as Brendan Rodgers has told them they would be fringe players due to Joe Allen and Nuri Sahin signing. I also hear Dani Pacheco will be loaned out to La liga for a season with a view to a permanent move. Danny Wilson will join a championship club this week on a season long loan also with a view to a permanent move.

Liverpool are currently persuing a deal for Daniel Sturridge for an undisclosed fee.

Client Dempsey deal may well be off Liverpools radar due to his age and salary demands, club believe their is no business in the deal, no sell on clause etc.

28 Aug 2012 22:31:26
Is it me or are liverpool leaving it a bit late to get in someone as important as a goal scorer, we have 3 strikers atm suarez, borini,carroll! but with borini playin more on the right and carroll looking set for departure, which i feel would be a very big mistake, that leaves us with 1! all the other top teams have at least 3 top class strikers city and utd have 4 world class strikers with that you just cant compete! i think we should go out and try to sign dempsey, sinclair and sturridge as i feel would improve the squad to a better level than arsenal and spurs therefore giving us a better chance at the top 4. There is no point in waiting until january when the season is basically over and sign a striker we might aswell spend a bit of money know and hopefully reap the rewards at the end of the season when where in the top 4.

kopite94

Who are uniteds 4 world class strikers then, because i only know 2 of them.

"January when the season is basically over"

Sums up your football knowledge.

28 Aug 2012 22:24:21
Man City Favourites to sign Walcott. Surely they will convince him to sign for them, if money is the issue with his Arsenal contract?

I personally don't think money is the issue I think he's just fed up with Arsenal's lack of ambition along with being made a scapegoat constantly. He has said he would rather play through the middle than on the wing, where Arsene puts him time and time again. I think he'd sign for us in a second, making his dad proud has got to be worth more than Mankini's millions

He will be pushed to a wider role out on the touch line slotting in behind a formidable front 2 of the club doctor and kit man.

I love Lucas.

But I think his recent injury, is a great chance for Sahin to show us what he is made of!

Cause to be honest Lucas is a great player, works hard and seems like a top bloke. But he is not going to get you many assists or goals.

I expect a midfield of Gerrard, Allen and Sahin. Which is pretty mouth watering. You can see all ready why BR was happy to pay 15 mil for Allen, he is one class act, and is only going to get better.

I'm sure we will sign a few more attacking player before the end of the window. Which is must needed.

we saw last season that Dempsey can score a great variety of goals, and works really hard for the team. Would be a great buy in my opinion.

And all though he is not everyones cup of T. I would also like to see Walcott. Boyhood Liverpool fan, playing in front of the Kop might give him that kick up the ass to make him more consistent. On his day he is a world beater, and has the one thing that scares all defenders PACE.

Think if big AC goes, we need one more as well.
Don't care who it is, as long as he can put the ball in the net.

Who does everyone else realistically want/think will come in before the close of the window??

Pug.

28 Aug 2012 22:01:49
Joe Bennett & Daniel Sturridge will be the last 2 signings on Friday. Danny Wilson, Jay Spearing & Dani Pacheco will all leave.

I heard we're also in for Joe's brother Gordon

Ed(s),

Is it true that the club offered Carra a one year extension, of which he rejected because he wants to get in to coaching?

Cheers,

Stone YNWA.

28 Aug 2012 21:54:58
I'd be happy with Clint Dempsey and Theo Walcott before the window closes. Still think Carroll will go, looks like Spearing, Adam and Cole may go.
If those two were to come in that would leave us with Walcott, Suarez, Sterling, Dempsey, Borini, Pacheco and Morgan for options for the front three with also the option of playing either Gerrard, Shelvey or maybe Sahin pushed up behind a front two.
Plenty of options and I think when this side clicks were gonna be very hard to beat.

Dempsey 6

Rhodes 7

Afellay 6

Isco 10

I think you will find pacheco will be off too and i think you missed out a certain oussama assaidi.RedTurk

Haha Assaidi aswell lol. Sorry redturk

28 Aug 2012 21:47:37
{Ed052's Note - We dont know who we are looking at for left back. I have a sneaky suspicion of Taylor, Swansea}

Class player, really impressed with him during the Olympics as well. However, he's only 23 and could well hinder the progress of Robinson. Personally, I have faith in Enrique to do the job for the next 2-3 years, in which time, Robinson will be stronger and experienced enough to claim a regular spot.

Stone YNWA.

Downing will be back-up left back for now so we won't need him.

28 Aug 2012 21:41:32
Any chance of us snagging turan from atleti? Long time Liverpool supporter, exactly the type of player Rodgers likes, fellow countrymen Sahin already on board...would love to see it happen. Thoughts? {Ed019's Note - Not again! }

Theo Walcott has rejected a contract extension at Arsenal. Liverpool and Manchester City are said to be monitoring the situation.

Let's hope City get him, for our sakes. Over rated and unproductive are just two of the words that come to my mind when i think of Theo Walcott.

Just my honest opinion, Sturridge is useless as well. But if either or in the unfortunate outcome that both players sign, then i'll cheer them on and hope they do well. But come on.

Wasn't he the winger with most goals and assists last year. Very unproductive!

Walcott had 11 goals 13 assists last season...if any of our players did that they would've been our player of the season...a little respect please

28 Aug 2012 21:03:15
Theo Walcott has rejected a contract at Arsenal. Liverpool and Manchester City are monitoring the situation and it is believed that Liverpool are the favourites to sign the winger. In other liverpool transfer news: Brendan Rodgers would still like to sign Clint Dempsey, he is a very versitile player and that is what makes him attractive to Brendan however the board aren't so sure because of the Americans age and the price. Players that will be sold before the end are Jay Spearing, Charlie Adam and Andy Carroll if the right offer comes in. If Andy Carroll does leave, Liverpool will look to replace him with either Dan Sturridge or Klass-Jan-Huntelaar. Klass, would be a deadline day signing because of ongoing contract talks.
Cheers- Tom

Please tell us something that hasn`t been repeated over and over again

28 Aug 2012 21:31:20
People saying Rhodes wouldn't do well for us, as it's a big step up...
Watching the Football League show I saw a striker called Vardy I think it was who came to the Championship from a non-league team If I remember correctly? And he scored a goal or 2 and can finish, it's like one person on here said earlier, if a player CAN finish he WILL finish, regardless of the level.
The fee being talked about isn't a huge gamble, he's a young kid and could prove a gem and a very wise signing. We don't need a world class striker to score, look at Cisse, Ba and Jelavic, hardly world-beaters but do the job just fine.
Cal

Rush?
Aldo?

For say £5m and at 22yo I'd get him in the squad, worth a punt I reckon.

No in the premiership he has less time on the ball.
he will need to improve his movement to find space.
he will be under more pressure.
he will find himself getting very tightly marked by the best defenders.
there are also many more factors that i have neither the time or effort to put across but you get the picture.
derryred

A ridiculous no-brainer of a punt...yet no one has made a move...I would love for us to be the one to take a chance and get one over everyone else

28 Aug 2012 21:20:57
Is everyone actually believing these huntelaar rumours. This morning we were close to signing sturridge, now we have a deal for huntelaar worth 18 million. He is 29 and we would pay 18 million for him. It doesn't make sense, Rodgers would never sign him, every player Rodgers has signed this window has been under the age of 25 and has stated he will not over pay for anyone..umm so he is gonna pay 18 mil for a 29 year old?!?! In a few hours, these rumours will have dissapeared and you will be talking about a new outrageous transfer target.

ManU would apparently pay 25M for a 29 year old striker...

^Come on mate RVP is much better unfortunately

No he isn't. And stop all this rvp crap.

Agreed. But I wouldn't rule out a player just because of age. That said, I don't see Huntelar coming, but not because he's 29.

28 Aug 2012 21:20:16
hi eds can you tell us who are the strikers we are targeting ? {Ed019's Note - Of course, buy only If you ask very nicely }

Pretty Please! {Ed019's Note - Dempsey, Sturridge etc haha}

28 Aug 2012 21:17:34
Eds, With walcott apparantly rejecting a new contract from afc, is it possible we will make a bid for him seeing as Macca says there is interest? Also with city failing to sign sinclair could they also be interested in theo and we turn our attention to sinclair?

Callum Johnson {Ed019's Note - Yes}

28 Aug 2012 21:16:37
AC Milan have quashed the Andy Carroll rumours. They say theyhave plenty of forwards and are not looking for any more.

Theo Walcott has rejected a new contract. Macca said we were interested in him. Is there a good chance we will bid for him?

BR said said after Sundays game he wanted to add to the squad before the window shuts and mentioned that we have not replaced players who have already left.
Now if Spearing ,Cole,Adam and Carroll are to leave,and it looks like 2 or 3 at the most will arrive if were really lucky, more players will have to be replaced. It must be a concern to BR, or he would not have mentioned it on Sunday.
Will we replace any players with some youngsters?

Red Robin

28 Aug 2012 21:14:45
I'm a big believer in what Macca says....

And going from what he has said and what has happened since, we are due to sign 3 more players, however, I believe one of those was meant to be Tello but that deal looks to be off IMO.

So that leaves 2 more players: Dempsey plus A.N.Other.

I personally think it would be one from the following: Walcott, Sturridge, Huntelaar, Ramirez.

But can you imagine if we actually signed all 5 of those players?

Would be genuine title contendors....

Smirky

No, we wouldn't.

But, if we can get ins; Dempsey & Walcott. Outs; Spearing, Adam, Cole & Carroll. Then it's been one hell of a summer for us!

I know Walcott gets a lot of stick for his 'football brain', which a few years ago was totally fair. But, the last couple of seasons he's really improved and you can't argue with his goals/assists stats.

Stone YNWA.

Not in the know but br is a man who is not silly with huge fees for players that rnt worth it ramirez didnt sign him as 16 mill for a young player whos not proven,huntellar may join but can be sure br wont be paying anything near 18 mill for a 29 year old,walcott and sturridge both decent enough but both have been at top 4 clubs and not made it and prices of 10 to 15 mill for walcott and supposedly 20mill for sturridge its laughable and then theres all the top wages these players think there entitled to give br time and it wont be long before the top players will be begging to come to play for us as once was keep up the top work br only have to look at weekend to see in a very short space of time how he has stamped his mark on us think in 2 years time then we will be challenging for all honours and the words top 4 place will be a thing of past

No we would be Chelsea

Ramirez has gone to southhampton

28 Aug 2012 21:13:05
hi all was wondering if they had been any news on Dempsey coming to Liverpool or is he going to Sunderland now would rather see him playing for Liverpool good creative midfield player just what Liverpool needs to feed the ball though

also whats happening with the sturrige and walcott
was they singing for us or we waiting till January

would be grate full for all replays thank :-)

Do you not know that every international team with Liverpool players in its squad has clandestine meeting's to box them at off on the merits of joining us. So their is every chance that's happened ha ha.
Jonson

Dempsey will be signed to finish through balls, not play them..

Agree sahin and gerrard will be feeding.

28 Aug 2012 21:11:13
Just a post about Afellay's apparent loan bid being accepted from 3 clubs, supposedly Us, Spurs and Schalke.
I wonder if there is any chance he's spoke to Mascherano about us, or even Kuyt or Babel from International duty who could tell him about the club?
On the other hand he could of spoke to VDV from Tottenham or Huntelaar from Schalke, so not sure the bearing it would have if it did happen.
He should though get a fair amount of game time with Liverpool, with a manager who plays how he will at Barca, so he could think if they play similar football and I show I can play well in this system maybe Barca will want me back? We need wingers, whereas he would compete with Bale and Lennon and Tottenham, which will be tough. Not sure about Schalke but they do have Farfan I think who had a decent season? I do have limited knowledge but I think we have a fair chance at getting him, if he wants to help us and help himself more...
Sorry about it being a very unorganised post, I was trying to get all my thoughts out before I forgot haha.
Cal

Talking to Huntelaar of Schalke? Maybe he's saying shall we both join LFC ;))))

i just want to know if any of the eds know if we do have money available or not, keep hearing different stories.or is it that we have money but need to trim wage bill? ps,i think there will a surprise signing before friday,sneaky feeling it might be sinclair now man city have dropped out cheers! {Ed019's Note - We have money, but it is the wage bill that is the issue}

28 Aug 2012 21:06:11
If we were to get Dempsey as well as Walcott and with the current additions I'll be more than happy with our business this season. Give Brendan time

I think some fans really need to get a perspective on what will actually improve our squad.Walcott is no where near up to a standard we want at Liverpool.no where near!

Walcott would actually be a great addition.

Haha,its still the school hols aint it...the same ones who were panning Walcott last year want him now lol probs the same ones who want Owen back too

28 Aug 2012 21:00:08
all this talk of huntelaar or sturridge for £18-20m hopefully isn't true particulay sturridge,for me there's only 2 strikers i'd love to see us go all out for,either falcao or soldado,question for the eds,firstly any ideas how much either would cost and secondly,if BR really wanted either would the owners back him
paul d

Keep dreaming buddy.

Falcao - Would cost a fortune, £30m+ probably.

Soldado - signed a new contract with Valencia and has stated his desire to committ to the club. Price would also be a lot higher with a new longer contract.

No chance on either in my opinion.

Falcao around 45M, Soldado likely 25M+.

In other words, 0 chance of Falcao and .0001% chance of Soldado.

28 Aug 2012 20:54:20
Carroll is not going on loan anywhere .. .br clearly stated it would be madness to do that and plus we need money for a new winger or striker and we are relying on selling him for that money common sense lads.. the club has made stupid moves in the past but I trust they've learned their lesson now.. and br is a smart man ..

Wallcott has rejected a new contract at Arsenal. Us (LFC) along with Man City are rumoured to be interested! I believe that he could sign before or on Friday! He could really strenghthen Brendan's side and help us into a good position!

28 Aug 2012 20:51:35
Liverpool got to get some balls up front and I mean the testicular variety. Not a fox in the box - a lion out of the cage,
30 goals a season man eater. Come on Brandon spend some money on a finisher before the transfer deadline.

What like the Essex lion?

Whos brandon?

Who's Brandon and what does he have to do with Liverpool?

That turned out to be nothing but an oversized pussy cat

Who is this brandon you speak of? Is it liverpools financial saviour? I hopeyou are right!

Cheers- Tom (look out for my posts over the next few days, i promise im very reliable and will provide all the details)

I could of wrote the same by reading today's posts. Thanks anyway

one source i have in germany told me a long time ago that Liverpool wanted huntelaar. I did not belive it, but rumours have been popping up the last days....

Dont know if he is the nr choice or a plan B.

Just have to wait and see

28 Aug 2012 20:36:38
Think we will sign Dempsey , sturridge and wallcot by Friday

Dempsey would be a welcome addition, athletic, intelligent and professional! The other two are talented lads but the phrase "show ponies" springs to mind. They seem to be more concerned with their position in the team than with being successful. Ged

Ac milan rule out sod for the playing field.

hi eds, when brendan mentioned about the possibility of loan signings he said he hopes to get 2 from the spanish league, do you know whether we are looking likely for another loan signing? could we sign barca's tiago on loan?
thanks YNWA {Ed019's Note - We were looking at Tello, but he signed a new contract}

28 Aug 2012 20:32:07
Expect Hunterlaar and Ibrahim Afellay to join on deadline day
Hunterlaar-£18m
Afellay-Loan with a permanent switch if Liverpool qualify for the Campions League
Any Views?

Carroll would need to go for close to 18 if thats the case .. is huntelaar not the very same player as Carroll doe ? Haven't seen a lot of him so can't comment

I highly doubt we will pay 18 million for a 29 year old.

Hi Ed's

Where are these Carroll Milan rumours coming from, if true have we not learned our lesson with Aqua when they failed to buy him for the agreed price and wanted him cheaper, Or are we just trying to get newcastle to submit an earlier bid than a Deadline day one if Milan are interested.

Just a Thought

28 Aug 2012 20:23:51
Hi eds, if Walcott leaves Arsenal who do you think he's more likely to join, Liverpool or Man City? {Ed019's Note - I'd say Man City}

Even after the match on Sunday and after being a self-confessed LFC fan? The Tosser.

28 Aug 2012 20:20:59
A huge amont of support for Caroll which is admirable and restores a bit of faith in LFC fans and our attitude. But I really don't think BR will keep him at the club.

He's a fine player but BR looks at what a player does on and off the ball. Up front he wants tactically aware footballers who are very good on the ball, provide excellent movement, are fast and agile.

Off the ball they must be players who win the ball back quickly - not just close a player down / get in front of him, but actually nip in and win the ball. Eg Sterling is 5ft 6' but showed how to do this against Yaya Toure.

Unfortunately for Andy he just isn't this type of player. I think he will go and be a success at a club that plays to his stengths and the best of luck to him.

Fitzy

Thats a good post

This is why we shouldn't buy huntelaar he's even lazier than Carroll

Sterling is a giant compared to a 5foot 5in Diego Maradona.

28 Aug 2012 20:16:39
Ed whats the score with Joao Carlos Teixeira, Adorjan and Suso, are we going to see any game time this year? i'm delighted with the signings but if your one of our Lads who is going to be turning 20 this season you must start to wonder with the young age of the guys comming in.
BR on the website today strongly saying he intends to bring kids through though.

I must say BR be brave Use suso. Raheem is pay back Suso will do too.

28 Aug 2012 20:15:58
why are we looking at leftbacks? in my opinion enrique is more than capable to handle it .. what do you think Eds?

sabe3 {Ed019's Note - The problem is, if enrique gets injured, our team is put off balance}

I appreciate that you can never have enough cover but Enrique is top class when on his game, it was so clear he needed a break last year thats why his form dipped. Robinson wasnt ready last year but a year older and is a good option now as cover, but let's not forget agger can play there if need be and also Glen Johnson is more than comfortable in that position too, so personally I think we are ok there unless someone becomes available like Taylor from Swansea who can challenge Enrique and is young still so we can plan for the future.

Not very often though distribution of the ball is awful aswell it is an area we could improve if were to play football from the back

28 Aug 2012 20:14:06
Well Sturridge will definitely be leaving if the rumours that Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Falcao are true!

Davey {Ed019's Note - Chelsea have not signed Falcao, the rumour was started by a fake twitter 'agent', Falcao scored a couple for Atleti yesterday}

Matteo plays him wide, they have both Hazards, Marin and Mata as well as Moses who can play wide, he could definitely be leaving now, don't think it relies on Falcao coming in.

-joe cole to west ham ............. 70%
-dempsey to liverpool .............. 30%

Milan president quashing rumours about Carroll joining them on loan by saying they do not require anymore strikers. Have any of you heard anything on this ?

28 Aug 2012 19:56:23
Real Madrid has opened to the possibility of Mesut Özil leaving before transfer deadline, and contacts close to Liverpool scouts confirmed to a small newspaper that Brendan Rodgers is in talks with Mourinho. A 250M£ move to be announced within 24 hours trust me on this one.

LFCkid {Ed019's Note - I think £250M is a bit expensive for Ozil (just a tad) don't you?}

Just as well that FSG got $260M off of their Boston red sox wage bill.

Hello all,
Great site eds.
Just been stated by tony Barrett of the times that theo walcott will not sign a contract extension at arsenal. This has called man city to consider bidding for him, rather than persisting with Scott Sinclair. Liverpool are also trying to raise funds to enable a bid
Thanks

Hi
i read on which i don't believe at all but it says that Klaas Jan Huntelaar has agreed to join us for £18 but we have to get rid of carroll. Do you think there is any truth in this Ed.
Thanks {Ed019's Note - Not convinced}

If we need to get rid of carroll to be able to afford 18 quid then i am really worried

£18 quid? Nice. Surely we can sign him for that without having to sell first. Thats about what he'd be worth to us in Brendan's fast paced pressing football style anyway.

SpudRed

It's worrying because we may only get £15 for Spearing leaving us £3 short.

28 Aug 2012 19:48:03
As much as I rate him, don't start thinking Sahin is a definite signing next summer; so don't waste ed's time asking about him now.

Carroll I expect to sign for Newcastle for around £15m, undisclosed however.

Dempsey will more than likely sign.

Huntelaar, I very much doubt.

Walcott, again, very much doubt.

I am still pondering who will fill Carroll's shoes, expect somebody along the lines of Borini and Assaidi, a deal out of the blue.

NY23

We'll promote Ngoo up to the senior squad. He'd play about the same minutes as AC anyway.

Do eds or fans know what the argument with sterling and Rodgers was about.

Scouse Ben {Ed019's Note - It wasn't an argument, it was just a cheeky comment from Sterling during Preseason that Rodgers wasn't happy with}

Wasn't much of anything, really. Just Brendan taking the opportunity to assert Alpha, keep a 17yr old ego in check and get him to listen and learn a bit. Seems to be working out ok too.

28 Aug 2012 19:43:47
Hey there this is my first post because i have info from an Irish source that i trust..the same guy told me about Meireles leaving a few days before he handed in transfer request season back..anyway i tried posting earlier so hope this gets through.
Seemingly as you all know a new lb is being looked at..from what i have been told Rodgers rates Robinson highly but doesn't see him as 1st option lb back yet but wants to see him progress in the cup competitions and he doesn't see Enrique as his 1st option lb..however he is really really interested in lb from Ligue 1...now the source didn't say a name but im thinking maybe is it Benoit Tremoulinas from Bordeaux..i could be wrong now..i also see the Taylor from swansea rumours so who knows...anyway whatever happens it will be interesting couple of days of ins and outs at LFC...Im just hoping Rodgers has an ace up his sleeve and gets in a pacey direct goalscorerer!

Please post this Eds thanks and hope ye all comment
Cheers

Cavani would make a terrrible CB.

Huntelaar signing makes sense as Suarez and Huntelaar were prolific together at Ajax.

Wasn't that like 5 years ago? He did well in Eredivisie and again now in the Bundesliga but he didn't fare as well in his years at Real and Milan. Might not like the big time pressure.

Huntelar have good goal scoring record what we missing

Dempsey will sign on deadline day, BR just didnt sign him yet cause he knows he doesnt want to sign for sunderland and BR makes him sign for less money...

28 Aug 2012 19:33:22
Whats the point in loaning Carroll to Milan for 3m for the season? It contradicts the claim that we need to sell him to buy other players. Surely if we are only getting 3m, we won't be earning enough money to buy a striker from the proceeds? That is unless we already have enough? But then shouldn't we then be looking to keep Andy, if we don't need to sell to raise funds? I think that would make sense as we are already light in attack and another striker plus keeping Andy would add that extra depth we crave, or am I missing something? Its too much for me to think about, I've got a headache, I'll never work out football clubs, someone pass the paracetamol!

Hello Ed and fellow Reds.
My question is that as rumour coming that carrol will leave on loan. If he does leave how can lfc replace him with new striker bcs as far as i know Rodgers sad that budget is over. I am very confused and afraid of that. Can any of the Ed or any reds fan clarify what the strategy of lfc in transfer in coming days.
Thanx.
Ur response will be much appreciated. {Ed019's Note - We want to bring Dempsey in and more forwards if Carroll goes}

28 Aug 2012 19:22:50
Hi Eds.

Just wanted your views if we do actually need more signings. Personally I think we do. I agree the performance against city was great but we're going to struggle against the so called lower trans who 'park the bus'. Another point was that I really don't think Dempsey is our answer. He's a good player but not what we need. We need a complete striker....like Lisandro or Falcao. Just wanted everyone's view (including the eds) on this. {Ed019's Note - Yes we do}

Thanks, I've been visiting this website for a very long time now and this is my first post. {Ed019's Note - I'd say it's possible but unlikely}

28 Aug 2012 18:50:05
Hi again Ed's

Whats with the Carroll to Milan rumours, im sure we've learnt our lesson from loaning Aqua to Milan and getting nothing from it. Or if true is it just a way of getting Newcastle to submit a bid early than Deadline Day.

BenO' {Ed019's Note - More likely the latter}

28 Aug 2012 18:39:17
Ed's i've read your opinion that the Klass-Jan Huntelaar rumours are fake, but what do you make of the Affelay to Liverpool rumour?

Also the Carroll to AC Milan on loan rumour, after Rodgers said on a website last week that he'd not be loaning Carroll out.

Appreciate your thoughts

28 Aug 2012 19:11:34
Just a question to all...Huntelaar and Clint Dempsey are the same age. Dempsey is proven in the EPL and would cost 10 to 12 million pounds less than Huntelaar would. Why on earth would Liverpool go for Huntelaar over Dempsey?

I could see buying a young player for almost 20 million pounds, but not an older player like Huntelaar. Just doesn't make sense.

~Fresh

Exactly, the huntelaar rumours are bull

82 apps 61 goals for Schalke 04
and even more deadly when teamed up with Suarez at Ajax

The reason is simple.Huntelaar has a much better goal scoreing record than Dempsey.He had a great understanding with Louis Suarez at Ajax. He Is a better finisher than Van Persie and could easily provide the much needed goals for at least 3 more years. United signed a 29 year old Van Persie. Noone said he is too old for United.the reason why we need goals now is to finish in the CL. Once in CL we will have more trunsfer funds to buy better players.

Possibly coz one is a striker and one is a midfielder...just a thought

carroll will not be leaving on loan to ac or anyone else.
do you think rodgers would loan out carroll for £1m or 1.5m euros when he needs to spend millions to replace him. the only time he would send him on loan would be with a permanent deal at the end of it. hence the west ham deal.
do you think carroll would want to go to ac milan. he would rather go back to newcastle. the only deal that liverpool or carroll will agree with is. a straight fee deal or a load with the view to a perm deal to newcastle.

28 Aug 2012 18:52:45
wots all this about carrol to ac ? hope this is b s after they messed us about with aqualaini we shudnt be doin them any favours at all. either stump up propper money or get stuffed with this 3 mil now n 17 mil next year makes no sense. id keep carrol meself think he will come good. and as for sum1 on about bentner if we sign him we may as well wrap up he is useless! lol, dempsey or sturridge if any 1...redman matt

28 Aug 2012 18:52:24
Liverpool will be busy this week.
Andy Carroll will leave for Milan or Newcastle (it's upto him) for about £15 mil.
We will then use that money to buy huntalaar. Spearing will join bolton tommorow for 3mil. Brendan Rodgers still wants to add another winger and few names to mention: walcott(15mil) sturridge(20mil) affelay(loan). Brendan Rodgers is believed to Want to high jack the Sinclair to city move.
Watch this space.

I thought Assadi was bought as a 2nd choice to Affelay, as he didn't want to move to a team without Champions League football.
Now Affelay is moving to a team that might not have Champions League football.

I know we say ''things change'' but reallly?

watched Brendan giving Sterling a dressing down.I'm impressed, doesn't take any nonsense. :-)

Whats the link

He has to have the respect of the squad you cannot have a 17 year old undermining him raheem will be the better player for it,Brendan certainly has mine........... Paisley's genius

To anyone who thinks brendan wont know how to break the clicks up at anfield. watch the video . it wasnt the hair drier treatment more the flame thrower treatment. hes going to rule with an iron fist BEWARE

Why did he give him a dressing down

The way Sterling has responded to it is the most important thing.
I always felt he would play this year because Buck tried to sign him at Swansea last season and you don't loan a player to sit him on the bench.
If he keeps his feet on the ground then I see no reason why he cant be a terrific player. There is 25 million saved. I reckon Suso could be the next player to save us a fortune.
Good times
jonnybarnes89-90

Maybe the logic of Sahin for a year is to give Suso a year to slowly blend into the first team and then fill the speace vacated at the end of the loan?

IN: Dempsey, Walcott, Rhodes

OUT: Spearing, Adam, Carroll, Cole

NO to dempsey and walcott.

That would be amazing! Along with the others we've brought in, we'd have a very decent squad - much better than I thought we would! I'd still prefer someone else to Walcott but he'd still be better that what we have at the moment.

28 Aug 2012 18:34:14
I think with Sahin being in the crowd on Sunday he would have been genuinely impressed with Liverpool, we went toe to toe with champions and outplayed them (should have won) and the atmosphere was electric, best I've seen in a while. May make him want to be apart of things past the loan deal.

Admire your enthusiasm but a bit of reality- 85k stadium, richest club in the world, current La Liga champs, 9 times UEFA champs, etc. is not exactly a poor club to play for....

Fair enough Madrid are serial winners, but I believe comparing them to City is not fair them, City just haven't got the world standing to compete with Real. However if you had of used Manchester United as the example that would have made sense, as United are much bigger than Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool.

Pearson

I'm sure he has a great view of their 85k stadium, FROM THE BENCH

The addition of modric wont have helped his cause any

He won't be on the bench forever mate. Think he's pretty clearly the replacement for Xabi next season or the one after.

You're right though in that there is a chance if he's not in their (Real's) plans for the future, but that seems unlikely since there is no buy out clause...

I cant recall a player leaving Madrid on loan and ever getting back into their team.
They have just signed Modric..... Next year they will sign another player to play in Sahin's position because they always have to sign attacking midfielders....
I reckon if he plays well and the team do well then he might just want to make it permanent.
Mourinho said he would have let him leave Madrid if that's what Sahin wanted.
Obviously he feels like he has unfinished business at Real but that can only benefit us anyway coz he'll be chomping at the bit to get back in their side.

was just wondering how much truth is there in the sturridge rumours? i kno he's young but i cant see him fitting into our style of play as he is a very selfish player who doesnt pass even when his team mates are in a better position to score. surely there must be a better option that him. also ive got a few friends who are sunderland fans and they seem to think they will get dempsey what do yous think eds? {Ed052's Note - I dont think Sturridge will sign}

Totally agree he is a great striker . In a bad team he looked good in a great team he would look quality .

Goodman jamesy u seem like a man thats knows his stuff just a question to everyone that disagreed where do u think we bought ian rush from and john aldridge fantastic finishers in front of goal where never superstars before they came to liverpool i understand u want the best i do to but at the min we hav a limited budget wuth a job that needs doing he was the ideal candidate. excuse my lack of grammar couldnt be arsed!

Noi think he is a good player but he has found his level at sunderland

I agree he's a good player, probably a bit underrated even. Honestly his style of play is similar to Dempsey I think, with Dempsey being just a touch more class.

Totally agree Paisleys genius. He is no better than average now, but he is like the Emperor's clothes - nobody dares point it out. Although he can take a penalty, I will give him that.

Good! I'd rather see them keep him and his giant noggin around rather than get a pile of cash they could spend on a real talent. Way overrated player in my opinion.

I understand where youre coming from Ed, but when you listen to Rodgers statement about the squad being thin and the players needing a little help (numbers wise). It certainly comes across as players having to come in even before we add the players being sold.

i'd like to post about how well Coates is getting on here. I had my doubt's when i had seen that he would be starting the game, however he really impressed me. He never put a foot wrong and we didn't really lose much in that last game when you're comparing him to Agger.
I really think that this is the first sign of our buying young and improving the academy policies paying diffidence considering Sterling, Coates, Kelly, Shelvey, Allen, Borini all had good games against the champions, along with having Hendo, Robbo, Flanno and Morgan now on the sidelines pushing for a first team appearance. Even our academy and reserve teams are littered with potential top class players so i have great confidence that Rodgers can build that dynasty that he is talking about.

Rafa should also get some credit. He was definitely the catalyst and visionary for the upturn in fortunes for our youth setup. So thanks to him, and Rodolfo too.

Eds please post this as you don't post mine :(
Great sight buy the way

Sturridge- surely lfc not going to waste there money?. Surely we all agree on that- Ramirez or huntelaar surely better money?
Huntelaar- would be great signing- would love this to happen.
Dempsey prob of to Sunderland yet another miss and I think he'd of done the job for lfc.
Walcott- would love his arrival but end product hmmmm..
Ramirez- i still think we should have pulled out all stops to get him, I think in lfc side (tikka taka) he'd rip up the prem like hazard.
Sell spearing(not good enough) j.cole (wages) carrol (not cut it in lfc style of football) do well at tottenham

Lots of posts on here saying we're in the market for a LB but no contenders have been named. Can you shed a little light on who we may be looking at or who is available?

28 Aug 2012 17:37:02
I'd really like to sign dempsey , afellay ( loan ) , drenthe ( as a backup LB ) and give carroll another chance to prove his worth , he's young and ready to fight for his place .. whats your opinion eds?
Esso {Ed052's Note - Drenthe has gone, but yes, I would like the other two, but I think we should sell Carroll}

Why do you think we should sell carroll ? we can use him as a plan B , most centre backs are afraid of him as we all know , he's a great header and with signing dempsey and afellay we could move suarez to the striker again and borini to be a backup .. is manuel vargas still an option?

If plan b consists of hoofing the ball forward to Carrol, well that's not a plan b that's not even a plan, that's desperation.

Hi eds just a theory cold it be Possible that we have a lot more money than people think,but as clubs seem to extort us we are Playing it as though there isn't much in our kitty. Smart move if you ask me. Players like Johnson and Ramirez seemed to be quoted at a high price when we enquired - but have gone for far less to much lesser teams. Am I right in believing that since Henderson, Downing and Carroll signings that clubs think they can hold us to ransom? Rodgers really seems tough and wouldn't stand for this as we seen with sigurdson. Red Rom {Ed052's Note - Thats a bit true, but we dont have whole piles of money, no}

Can I just say I think Glenn Johnson is finally maturing into a top top player. Had my doubts about him last season at times with me thinking Kelly should replace him in the team but this season he's looking the dogs bollox and that's playing left back. Composed on the ball, as good defensively as I've even known him, a real plus point so far. Early days but let's hope he can continue this current form.
Jonson

He wont like playing that side and putting his england place at risk for long. And I have said since I first saw Enrique, he is strong but looks clumsey to me.

Without sales, BR has at best £10m to spend. the owners want to see progress before spending large sums again. So if we get into the champs league expect a kitty of £50m plus sales to be reinvested into the squad for next season. The rebuilding started when KD came back the owners were very aware they needed to win the fans over hence his appointment, it was never meant to be a long term solution, his permanent appointment and big budget spending was a show of faith from the owners to the fans and KD. KD and DC made those big money signing in light of the remit set out by the owners to buy young player with resale value, with the aim of securing top 4 position. It was largely based on a strategy that whilst thing happened on the pitch they could sort the club out off it. This didnt work out as we didnt achieve our goal of top four. Hence the departure of KD and DC. All the while FSG had begun the big shake up commercially to bring extra revenue streams to the club, new kit makers etc. The plans for the stadium needs to be calculated as FSG dont want an Arsenal situation, where the spending will again have to be supplemented by the owners rather than club generating enough to pay for the stadium and new players, hence the naming rights, and with out on field success this is very difficult to manage, Arsenal have just about been able to cope as they have a very strict wage policy, but as you can see, no trophies and a strict wage structure means top world class players leave, which in turn also reduces commercial sales and revenue. David Dein has at large been the freelance consultant for FSG, his experience has been tapped into, a man very well respected for his footballing knowledge, the man who laid out the vision for Arsenal to bring them to the modern era, the appointment of AW, the youth set up, the financial and commercial set up. Sure he didnt do it all alone but it was him directing the club.
The appointment of BR was based on having FSG and LFC having a vision for our future. It was not long ago the club almost collapsed. We were not far from being as Rangers are today, so financial prudency is a mandatory requirement with every decision we make. BR was the man who would not cost us the earth, and could deliver us a direction of footballing style that pleased the fans and got result, the players he would want to bring in were based on a style of football and the players attributes as appose to reputations, the sums he would require for this were also not astronomical. BR firmly believes in his style of play, tactically he is astute and can potentially be at the club for the next 10 years. In short he was more, than PG, JM or anyone else for that matter the best man for the job. FSG, BR and im sure most LFC fans know this ie not an easy task that sits ahead of us now. This season is all about getting that footballing style of play/system fixed into the minds of all LFC playing personnel, first team to youth. Its about getting LFC feared by other teams, its about away teams coming to our house and knowing that they are in fact at OUR HOUSE !
Those who heard the roar when that bullet of a training ground rehearsed header went in know what OUR HOUSE should sound like when our every goal goes in and every team playing us should feel their spine shiver when they step out on our turf. In BR we have a man that can get us playing they we need to play, in FSG we have owners who will help us get where we want to get, its now down to us to support in the way LFC need and want us to support.
Premiership winners in the next 3years, Champions league winners in the next 5, domination of domestic and european football for the next 20. YNWA. T

With Scott Sinclair's move to city hitting a snag dont you think we should step in and try to bring him to Anfield.

He fits the criteria we are looking for and he's a very good player and he's got time on his side to only improve.

He's a cheaper option to the likes of players we are linked with Walcott, Mertens, and already plays the style of football BR has brought to the club.

I for one would love to see him at the club, he's better than Adam, Cole, Spearing, Henderson, and Downing.

Curled1 {Ed052's Note - No, I dont see us moving for him now}

He doesn't fit the criteria of what we're now looking for. We need a goalscorer, plain a simple.
We currently have Sterling, Assaidi, Downing, Pacheco and Suarez that can play in the position that Sinclair plays in. I like Sinclair but we need to spend the money on a goalscorer before this transfer window closes.

28 Aug 2012 17:03:03
If we sell Adam, Spearing, Cole and Carroll to fund the loan / purchase of Affelay and Sturridge, top 4 is very much attainable, just look at the squad. Best young squad in league with a starting 11 as balanced/effective as any in the league.

------------------Reina/Doni-----------------------

Johno/Kelly---Skrtel/Carra---Agger/Coates---Enrique/Robinson

------------------Allen/Lucas—Sahin/Hendo------------------

------Affelay/Downing------------------Sterling/Assaidi------

Looking to sign 2 players before the transfer window closes, with the possibility of 3 departures. Jay Spearing is leaving for Bolton so he isn't too far from home while Charlie Adam will be involved in any deal we strike up for Clint Dempsey. Andy Carroll could still leave, paving the way for a new striker. We've been linked with a lot of names but expect Scott Sinclair to join. The deal with City has fell through and Rodgers is ready to pounce with a £7million deal.

I really hope Robinson gets to play this year as i truly think he has got a very bright future but if he should sit out most games and play reserves only i do think he will miss out and be at risk of not becoming the player he could. When he has played for the first team he has been solid and plays well ahead of his years.
How old is he now Eds?

Also i wish Lucas all the best.

Lastly has anyone else seen preview of LFC documentary with Sterling being torn a new one by Rodgers? If not, do!

i personally didnt want carroll to join us, when i heard the rumours, but now his part of our team.. i dont really want him to leave. give him a real chance and watch him score more goals and cause a greater threat than suarez.

YNWA

Suarez may not score enough but Carroll cause a greater threat?? ho ho

He wont score goals, hes had time, why do you think hes always on the bench, if either Kenny or Brendan had seen anything of his form improving in training im sure he would have been given more playing time!

28 Aug 2012 16:30:27
Sinclair to Liverpool?

28 Aug 2012 16:29:18
Hi, eds.

A lot of people saying we should keep hold of A.C I would agree with them if he was playing regularly, but I don't think he will get a lot of game time. How can he improve as a player if he never has a chance to prove himself. 10 minutes here and there isn't good enough.

Feel sorry for the big lad. I would like to see him get 10/15 games, I bet he would net 8/10 goals.

28 Aug 2012 16:26:44
Hey Ed052, just a quick question about Lucas's injury. Do you know how long he is out for? I can't find anything on the website or on SSN. Heard it might be 2 months, hopefully not.

MikeyRed92 {Ed052's Note - It shouldnt be that long no}

A few weeks, it's not as bad now though with him missing as it was last season when you look at the options in the middle Lucas, Allen, Sahin, Gerrard, Shelvey, Henderson and Coady, I expect Spearing and Adam to be leaving us this window. Think we're quite well covered there now.

28 Aug 2012 16:22:17
Hi Ed's I've been away over recent days, so don't know the details behind the Sahin deal. Is there a buy clause at the end of it ?

Cheers.
Pug. {Ed052's Note - No buy out clause}

Ed if hes a success with us is there even a first option clause if he doesnt return to parent club? {Ed052's Note - we will have some sort of first option I am sure}

28 Aug 2012 16:21:03
Conspiracy theory
Man city pull out of deal for Swansea winger, we step in and Aggers off to city for £20 plus million.
What do you think
PistolPete

Why would those two deals for those two players from different clubs who play in different positions have anything to do with each other?!

28 Aug 2012 16:17:36
this is the harsh reality of it.. we don't have a lot of funds it was reported at the start of the window we only had 15m pluss player sales but fans and edds dismissed it but the money has been spent. rodgers was brought in to develop youth players and get us money threw creating class players and selling them and his style of play also but people need to stop saying we are going to be buying hunterlar, ozil, sturidge, walcott, or even dempsy it has been proven we havent got the cash to buy our targets (yet) with gaston ramerez and adam johnson both targets an both going to lower teams for less money we was reportedly interested in money we should be able to afford but cant an we missed out on bargains

the long an short of this post is that we dont have cash to spend unless players are sold but believe in the squad we have specially with stirling acting as a new signing an assiaide an sahin will be great lets get top 4 lads chaaammmooonnn

ynwa

adamlfc {Ed052's Note - We have spent over £30 million so far, and have recouped nout}

Are you forgetting that we have signed both borini and Allen aswell! This post is wrong! I also believe Dempsey will sign and maybe another. I think we may have more money than People think but as clubs seem to extort us we are Playing it as though there isn't much in our kitty. Smart move if you ask me.

They said all along no budget... if a player ticks all the boxes, we will try to buy him

Recouped nowt? Did Kuyt go on a free? {Ed052's Note - Pretty much}

Recouped 5 or 6 million for aquallani, 850,000 for kuyt

28 Aug 2012 16:16:39
Eds, love the site. There is conflicting reports on here from posters how we have to do business before friday. Some are saying we need to sell before we can buy and others are saying we will only sell once a replacement has been lined up. If it is the former then are we in danger of missing out on dempsey as it looks like he has played his last game for fulham and will prob have to move now to whoever wants him..if its the latter then clubs will only offer peanuts for players as they know we'll be desperate to recoup some cash. MonaghanRed

28 Aug 2012 16:13:30
Just seen that scott sinclair deal is off as it stands. They can't agree fee. Do you think that LFC may go in for him.

Knows the system, young talented.Surely worth a gamble. And we already messed up the agreement by siging allen?

What do you think eds? A chance?

jordan {Ed052's Note - No chance - we decided against it, I cannot see it happening}

Thanks ed052 - Do you know why we choose not to pursue? Was it because the money with City being in the run in at the time?

just a thought. You may know otherwise though. Did the club think he wasn't good enough?

Jordan {Ed052's Note - No, Im not sure. Other targets I guess. No, we though he was I am sure}

28 Aug 2012 16:04:53
Eds, is it possible that all of the overpriced, British players (and yes they all are) Dalglish bought could go? As in Carroll, Adam, Downing and Henderson? I think Carroll and Adam will go, and there are also rumours of an 11-12m bid for Henderson from Sunderland. Of course, if Affelay comes we would have Affelay, Borini, Assaidi, Sterling so Downing would become a bit pointless. If you had all of them wingers 8/9m would become more useful to you than Stewart Downing. Potentially, if we sold all of them, we could recoup a lot of money. With that we could buy Affelay on loan, Sturridge, Lucas Biglia, Jack Butland, Cristian Atsu and Yanga-Mbiwa.
1)Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Lucas Allen
Gerrard
Sturridge Suarez Affelay
2) Butland
Kelly Yanga-Mbiwa Coates Atsu
Biglia Sahin
Shelvey
Assaidi Borini Sterling
I know there is no chance in a million years this could happen, bu there are few ideas there or the next couple of windows.

RedKopite {Ed052's Note - No, only a couple will go}

28 Aug 2012 15:59:28
I wonder if Rodgers may try and hijack the Sinclair move as city seem to be dragging there heels, he would certainly get more game time with us than with city and he knows Rodgers game style and philosophy, he may be another Swansea player but if hes good enough for city then surly hes good enough for us, just a thought.
Jaydee ynwa

We need a goal scorer

28 Aug 2012 15:58:02
All the top teams are running scared of LFC this season. The league is tough and arsenal can't score, man utd are leaking. This will be a very low point scoring season. I feel the 80 points will win the league. If we keep our losses to 4 and maximise our home games there's definately and outside shot at the title.
YNWA THE PIRATE

Right. We are Liverpool fans get carried away too easily. We all want to conquer Europe again and challenge for the league but be realistic. No one is "running scared" of us. Giving City a great game isn't anything new, we do it every season at Anfield. Including last season. We lost 3-0 to West Brom on the opening day. Everyone needs to relax and enjoy the moment but also NOT get carried away.

Things are looking good, yes. But please lower expectations a little bit. Unrealistic expectations cause bitter disappointment and overly negative reactions to slightly negative outcomes.

Ojay

Wakey wakey its the middle of the afternoon !

WE haven't scored from open play in the league - need a finisher.

Think city chelsea are still to strengthen there firepower utd are always there at the end lets not get too carried away 4th place is atainable but it will be tough think it will come down to who can keep there main players fit i would say its out of us arsenal spurs everton think maybe too much for newcastle with losing there strikeforce to the african cup nations

Chavski sadly will be strong this season

Agreed to the above post but the thing in our favour is that chavski hate each other! Ha ha!

28 Aug 2012 15:56:22
Just for a change I hope we should take three points against arsenal they are there to be taken even top4 is there to be taken. I think arsenal are weak compare to last season and spurs are going to strugle we all know about AVB. What do fellow kopites or eds think

looking at the squad we only need 1 defender and a striker.even if carroll stays we need another 1.
higuan would be the best out there and 23 years old but he wont be for sale unless madrid would buy a new striker.
and we would have a chance if he would be availible,i know we dont have cl football this season but he would know that his chances of player would be good.
higuan is just like inzaghi for some reason they always end up scoring 30 goals a season and if watch real and in the past juve and milan you could see that they are not the most technical or skilled players but they both score.
we should spend some money this window we have a young team and we wont have to spend all that much next season.

I believe higuain has just signed a new contract.

Why do we need a defender? Surely this is one area that we have enough cover for?

Twitter is covered in rumours that Livepool, Tottenham and Schalke have agreed a deal for Ibrahim Affelay, it's up to the player now. Maybe Mascherano could do an Alonso and persuade him? For me he is a very, very underrated player. He has a lot of pace and an outstanding end product, whether its a simple pass, cross or, he never dawdles too long on the ball. Also knows the system through and through- in fact our system is based on the exact system he's been playing in. He's a much, much, much better player than the likes of Johnson, Sinclair, Moses, Dyer, Gervinho, Tello. IMO he's better that Walcott aswell. Gerrard, Suarez, Affelay would be some front three, with Downing, Assaidi, Sterling and Borini to be used as impact subs, although I think if Affelay was to come in Downing would go.

RedKopite

Arnt u forgeting sahin?

Sahin is a central midfielder.

I would not mind anyone joining us in the next couple of days as long as its not sturridge. Over rated selfish twerp who cannot pass the ball to save his life. walcott would be a much better addition along with dempsey.
Indian Buzzer

I like Sturridge. Natural goalscorers are meant to be greedy in front of goal - thats why they score goals!

28 Aug 2012 15:40:49
Personally I am much more concerned now about who is leaving than coming in before the end of the transfer window. Adam, Spearing, Pacheco, Wilson and Cole should leave now and we should be reasonable about the fees we can expect.

Downing should stay until January as we are short of wingers, Assaidi is an Unknown and we must avoid the temptation to play Sterling in too many games. We know he's excellent but he's still maturing physically ( remember the problems Gerarrd had with his back in his early 20's).

We should stick to our principals about Carrols fee, he's an 18m striker and come January a team will pay that to get themselves out of trouble or kick on! I do think we should avoid playing him in Europe as this will help keep his price up!

Henderson should be kept to work with BR, he's a good player, doesn't complain, doesn't get injured and could be in demand come the end of the season! GED {Ed052's Note -

All true but do need quality additions aswell

Good Afternoon Eds.
was just wondering a couple of things
1: what is the situation with Sahin? is there a chance of buying him after the loan seeing Madrid have bought Modric and will be even more difficult for him to get into the starting 11.
2: Are we looking at a left back or do you expect Robinson do be cover/johnson?

please dont reply with "search function" cos it doesnt help for me, thanks for your time guys , gd job

Afternoon, reds, eds.

Ed001, quick question mate, why do you think we are looking for a LB?

I think, imo, robinson is a very good LB replacement if enrique gets injured or needs a rest. Ever since his debut when he put theo walcott in his pocket, he has always impressed me. Does BR not rate him?

Also, a quick word on my main man raheem, outstanding from a 17 year old, pure class that lad. Also you have to say fair play to BR, to throw him his first start against the champions, br is not all talk, he backs up his words, proven that by calling in coates instead of carra....

Benny baller {Ed052's Note - We dont know who we are looking at for left back. I have a sneaky suspicion of Taylor, Swansea}

I think we'll see Downing get some games at LWB against teams that come to park the bus at Anfield.

SpudRed

28 Aug 2012 15:08:25
If we sign Sturridge and retain Downing. Then we would surely have the 3 most overated players in the league in Sturridge, Downing and Suarez. Anyone else notice how easy Suarez goes down, its destroying our integrity as a club and people. Got to admit i was suprised Shelvey got the nod over Henderson on Sunday, but to be fair Jonjo O'neill as Fred calls him did well. I also think we should keep the Prince Carroll aswell. Anyone else think Brendan Rodgers is trying to erase memory of King Dalglish's second reign?

Suarez over-rated who over-rates him he was bought for around £22m he is on half the wages of Tevez or Aguero and he causes defences massive problems! He is not over-rated, he needs to improve!

Most over-rated player in the league is Gareth Bale!

Wum... Enough said

Unklemad.

Suarez is not overated, neither is Downing and the only person who overates Sturridge is probably himself

I for one would like BR to erase all the bad signings King Kenny made- that includes Adam, Downing and Carroll.

Behave mate we dont need comments like that, positivity is the key not negative garbage like that. Suarez is brilliant he just needs to compose himself that all. Did you say he was overated when he scored his freekick on sunday? Probably not!

Ian the red

Are you for real?? How is BR trying tob erase KD's memory?? He just decides the players he wants to keep, and those he wants to sign and how he wants to play. Surely, his ideas and philosophy is different from that of the legendary king. No disrespect to KD, but Adam, Spero, Downing etc are never going to get make us a formidable force that we should be.

What are you actually going on about? Sturridge is young and still has ibits of his game needing worked on. downing has to be rated in the first place to ever be classed as overated. And suarez overated?! Open your eyes. Plus jonjo before henderson anyday

Cudge

Absolutely hilarious post. Suarez overrated, don't make me laugh. He may need to improve his finishing slightly, but he is a world class player. I'm still howling with laughter.

Suarez is not not overrated. Sturrridge is only overrated by people who say that he isn't rubbish.

Hypothetical question to all. You have £10-15m to spend on a young English striker which one would you pick out of Carroll, Walcott or Sturridge?

RedSG

Sturridge. Yes he has ego issues but he's young and will mature. I think he's the most talented all round out of those three.

Ojay

If it was £10-£15 mil. I would take Carroll, all day!

Carroll, but Walcott best fits the system.

We already have carroll but i'd buy walcott

Good point. Id keep carroll

In our system, Walcott.

Hello Eds,
now Barca related account saying LFC, spurs and Schalke have loan bids accepted for Affelay and now it is upto the player to decide. Do you reckon any truth in it ?
If so reckon we will end our interest in either sturridge(hopefully) or Dempsey {Ed052's Note - Where, do you have a link?}

28 Aug 2012 15:27:13
BBC stating Scott Sinclair to Man City has stalled, is it possible LFC could come in and swoop for the lad?

Considerably cheaper than Sturridge or Walcott, and again like Allen knows what Brendan is all about

RedSG {Ed052's Note - No, we decided against moving for him}

Would be a better cheaper option than either walcott or sturridge

I think we may go back in for him ed052. Maybe at the time we knew of the interest from City and thought very little point but now that seems to have gone?!

Why do people keep saying Suarez is not a natural goalscorer - check the lads stats:-
Ajax - League and Cup Apps 122, Goals 93 - that is not bad for a non-natural goalscorer.
Just needs to get his goalscoring confidence back and he is at least a 25 goal a season man, possibly a lot more. Just hope we don't do to Suarez that we did with Kuyt ( 101 league games for Feyenord, 71 goals ) and turn him into a non striker.

John B

His record at international level ain't to shabby either. Amazing what confidence in front of goal can do for a player. Bet at Ajax he felt like he couldn't miss, just hope that free kick will boost his said confidence ce if starts slapping them if from all angles,because I like you believe he could be lethal for us from now on.
Jonson

Most of those goals for Ajax come from the RW. Hunterlaar played as the striker for Ajax

Suarez said himself that a lot of his goals in the dutch league were lucky. He needs to improve his shooting, we all know he can score a wonderful goal but he also panics in front of goal and this leads to scuff shots. For example, the game against Man City where Borini played him through all he had to do was slot it into the corner and he scuffed it.

BthekingB

He is not natural as he scores something like 1 in every 7 shots.. the fact is he had alot more shots for Ajax per game hence the scoring record. Suarez comparable to Aguero/Rooney/RVP has a higher shots to goal ratio by quite a bit hence why he is not a world class finisher

Poster above correct-obviously goes to game. And Dutch Leauge aint all that

28 Aug 2012 14:46:28
Guys sturridge huntelaar ect... Will not be joining!
Think about it we have no money Rodgers has said that already! I believe Dempsey will come in regardless of weather Carroll is sold or not.

But any other 20mil+ striker will not be in!
Unless we sell Carroll.

Sadly true me thinks

28 Aug 2012 14:44:03
got any news Ed's? Or do you guys know as much as us right now? {Ed052's Note - Nothing yet. Spearing will be gone soon, and Adam might not go as he wants to saty in the area}

I must admit the idea of Liverpool picking up another promising unheralded player a la Assaidi would tickle my cockles. Many of the names mentioned as possibilities Walcott, Sturridge etc don't really excite me. So what are the chances Eds? Will we throw another curve ball and pull someone out of the hat that nobody has predicted. {Ed052's Note - A unknown satr could be brought in yes}

Ed 052, Is your response to the question through knowledge of interest of a unknown star or just pure feeling? {Ed052's Note - Well a bit of both. It will be unknown becuase we dont know of interest in anybody but Dempsey really, but then it's a bit of a guess, as we might sign someone really well known}

28 Aug 2012 14:39:34

We need to buy DEFENDERS!

Is that Land Rover Defenders for the players to use?

Why? We have some great defenders.
CB's
Skrtel- superb player of the season last year!
Agger - our best CB in my position and we all now know he's going nowhere.
Coates - showed how good he can be against Man City last Sunday.
Jamie - a legend who still has some good games n him.

RB's
Johnson - great player who attacks well, and I think plays better as a LB.
Kelly - better than Johnson IMO - and can also play CB
Flanno - young but still skilled and will be a great RB.

LB's
Enrique - was great start of last season, form has dipped. But if he returns he will be great.
Johnson - his second position as a LB
Robinson - Young but superb. I think he is better than Enrique's current form.

I think that if we need more defenders it is one LB that is all. The rest of our defence is awesome.

Please not Sturridge.

Redken

He may not be the best option, but if BR thinks he can improve the squad, I will certainly welcome him to the team; he has his weaknesses as a ball hog, but he can turn that into a strength if he can get past opposition players and....score or at least learn to pass the ball to better positioned players.

Hi Eds and Reds, please feel free to share your opinion.

Out:
Carroll - 18 Mill
Spearing - 3 Mill
Adam - 6 Mill
Cole - 3 Mill

Subtotal = 30 Mill

+ FSG Cash Injection of 10 Mill

Total = 40 Mill to spend

In
Dempsey - 8 Mill
Lewandowski 22 Mill or Walcott 15 Mill
Back up left back & Goalkeeper - 10 Mill

(if you buy Walcott instead you could save around 7 Mill which would cover agent & signing on fee's plus change left over)

With kuyt, maxi, bellamy, aquilani, joe cole, adam, carroll, etc out that free's up 300,000 to 400, 000 a week in wages which would easily cover the new signings above includin lowering the wage bill at the same time.

We would be up there competing for the totle if we get those transfers in let alone a top 4.

What you think guys?

Carroll must stay - he's a unique talent in to-days football, and I mean in a good and frightening way for defenders.

He doesnt frighten people often enough for his size

Sunderland are said to be considering a bid of £11mil to bring back Jordan Henderson from Liverpool. Brendan Rogers will bite their hand off as he is trying to raise cash for Daniel Sturridge. Charlie Adam, Jay Spearing and Andy Carroll will almost certainly leave in this window. With only two layers coming in, one being sturridge the other a left back.

Harvey Dent

Most ridiculous post for a few days, BR will love Henderson, and no way is Sturridge good enough for us, he is no improvement on what we have - average at best.
Oh yes - and Carroll must stay.

John B

Sturridge is probably better than Borini at this moment but I stand to be disproved in the course of the season

Love Hendo?-Why, done very little as yet.Joe Allen twice the player and contribution in one game!

Hi eds, what would be the preferred midfield when everyones fit, with Allen playing the "alonso" role and lucus, in the "mascherano" one. And then Gerrard playing the......well.....Gerrard role. Where does that leave sahin? Also has shelvey been taken growth hormones, because He looks much bigger and stronger..I really wish rogers played him further up because I don't see him playing deep. I think he is Gerrard natural successor in time
What gonna happen to Henderson ? LOan maybe? Is suso gonna be given some game time...?

I think Adams is gone,I wish along with Cole...but spearing I keep as feel he can a useful squad player...

Why doesn't rogers move Gerrard to right wing and play sahin forward behind borini and Suarez? {Ed052's Note - The midfield will constantly be rotated. I cannot say where they will each play, because it'll change game by game, performance by performance}

Left back-in changing room would be gerrards best position

hi eds i was just wondering what happened to the search function? {Ed052's Note - They will come back on Sept 1st. Theya re down becuase post levels are increasign due to transfer deadline}

28 Aug 2012 14:05:19
Hi Eds
lots of speculation about Sturridge arriving and AC leaving, I can't see either of them happening.
Sturridge is a decent player when he's on form and that's my main concern about him. Although to be fair he's not really had a good run out for Chelsea and it's difficult to say how good he is. He did very well for Bolton and thought he was going to make a name for himself last season. Did ok , but that's as far as it goes.

There is no way we will pay 15-20 million for him.
I am convinced Dempsey will arrive and I think Affelay will be loaned out to us on the last transfer day.

Newcastle want AC on the cheap and We will not let them pay less than 20m. Who can we get to replace him? Is Dempsey his replacement? if so I would be concerned by the strike force that would be available. Louis Suarez who is not a natural goal scorer, but he does cause havoc for defenders and his brilliant work inside the box and incredible determination makes things happen inside/outside the box.
Borini will take a little time to settle and will be a good addition. prolific goal scorer? I'm not so sure.
Dempsey did very well last season and he'll do well for us, Im' pretty sure about that. He will certainly suit the BR system and I hope we sign him.

But we must keep hold of AC until January at least, by then we should be able to measure how good Borini is going to be and if Ac is continuing to improve. If he does do well and we still want to sell him, at least we'll get more money for him.

Red Robin {Ed052's Note - I wish I could say use the search function haha}

If sturridge was getting a decent run in the chelsea side then neither he nor the club would even entertain the possibility of a transfer..MonaghanRed

Hi eds, do you think suso would be given playing time this season like sterling this year? I really liked the look of him in the u19 for Spain... I am worried with the plethora of cm at the club now it might stop him from playing.. {Ed052's Note - No, unfotuantely}

Next season when sahins loan deal is finished you ll see suso featuring more prominently

As the 2nd poster said, i do feel that is why we look to loan sahin.

Kaizer

What if sahin stays on a permanent deal? maybe moving gerrard on would give suso more game time.

Not necessarily Liverpool-related eds, but do you know if anyone's willing to take a chance on Royston Drenthe? He's available on a free and was immense at Everton last year. If the Toffees sign him they could have a really impactful season

Red Ollie {Ed052's Note - Not sure.]

Deja vu anyone? Every bloody window

Ojay

Signed for Besiktas already.

28 Aug 2012 13:47:55
Liverpool likely to miss out on Dempsey, i fear there is going to be a lot of very dissapointed Liverpool fans come 11pm friday night. delays in offloading the likes of Cole and Adam due to wage demands. I believe Carroll will be sold, however, the question is when and how much time will BR have to get a replacement. clocks ticking!

AC will not go unless there is a replacement lined up. That makes no sense whatsoever

I think players will only be allowed to leave when their replacement is lined up.

Spearing and Adam will be replaced by Allen and Sahin IMO

Replacements will be lined up should Cole or Carroll move on.

I guess Cole would be replaced by Dempsey and a genuine striker to replace Carroll

I would be very surprised to see Carroll leave and a replacement not brought in.

Bid is for 15m , unclear what this means for sturridge at the moment

A few different papers reporting that Dempsey is in "advanced talks" with Sunderland? Would you class us as "out of the race" for him or still interested eds? {Ed052's Note - No where near out of the race}

28 Aug 2012 13:40:14
A perfect striker for our system would be falcao,but this deal would not happens.what do you say eds {Ed052's Note - You answered your own question}

28 Aug 2012 13:38:26
ed whats your opinion on Adrian Lopez and do you think he would be a realistic replacement for Carroll {Ed052's Note - No}

28 Aug 2012 13:36:58
Cole has agreed personal terms with West Ham.

Spearing deal with Bolton agreed.

The deadwood is floating down the river...what a transfer window it has been thus far!

Just need Adam and Carroll to leave and we'll be left with enough money to buy Falcao, although we won't buy Falcao.

Show a bit of respect there fella

Please stop the 'deadwood' comments no matter what you think of a player

Deal close on Spearing to Bolton for 3m

28 Aug 2012 13:31:21
Would Jordan Rhodes be worth a bid?

28 Aug 2012 13:27:11
out
Carroll - £17m
Adam - £6m
Spearing - £3m
Cole - £2m (but paid back to Cole plus paying out his signing on fee still owed as we just want to save the majority of his wages).

= £26m to spend

in
Theo Walcott - £15m (Carroll's replacement)
Dempsey - £7m
Leaving £4m for a LB to rival Jose.

28 Aug 2012 13:24:14
Hi All,
I sincerly apologise, my last post wasn't me, someone used my name .
We definately wont be signing a 29 yr old, we want sturridge but unwilling to pay 15m.
We will be signing Jordan Rhodes for 4-7m.
Cole, Adam, Spearing To leave. Carroll deadline day, we will make 25m from these players and go for a big signing on Deadline Day

RedManAusE.

Thats whats required doubt will be done

28 Aug 2012 13:20:36
Ed's I've been abroad a while, so can you fill me in with who's signed and who we're targeting... Thanks. {Ed052's Note - well, who had signed before you left? Sahin, Assaidi, Allen and Borini have signed. Kuyt, Maxi, Aqua has left. Other that that nothing. Lots will happen in the next 3 days}

Aurelio and bellamy too left

28 Aug 2012 13:19:55
I seriously hope we move Cole out too even if its aloan with us paying some part of his wages. The main reason for this is when he is fit again, the manager will look to atleast give him a place on the bench and I feel either Sterling or someone like Jonjo will miss out. And I know who I would rather have.

28 Aug 2012 13:12:35
Are we still in the race for affellay? Is mertens available? {Ed052's Note - No, maybe}

hi eds, whats the chances of Nuri Sahin making his loan move permanant at the end of the season ? {Ed052's Note - Possible. All is explained in the profile I did on him}

28 Aug 2012 13:07:43
ed052 how much would munian and mertens cost each? are they available? could our chase to sturridge be a smokescreen to another better player? Is rhodes really a player that could score 20+ goals or should we go after a proven player like lisandro lopez ?
Esso {Ed052's Note - £30m, £15 m, yes and yes, Sturridge is not a smokescreen, we will not be signing either Lopez or Rhodes}

liverpool to sell downing and adam to make funds for 20 mil sturridge

28 Aug 2012 13:03:59
Please excuse me for being a bit of a dinosaur, but what did Raheem mean when he said 'steady' to BR.

FT

Brendan was telling them they needed to improve their attitude etc etc, and during his little 'listing' Raheem said 'steady' as in 'Steady on'.

Like he was saying "Jeez Boss, give it a rest, there's not THAT much we need to do."

Undermining, which is why Brendan turned all high school teacher on him! :)

BR was talking about improving attitude, Sterling says " steady" a in steady on guv, ( maybe thinking BR being a bit harsh ).

Nice to see BR not takin any s*#t.

Hope this helps :)

Mr Slonk The Red

YNWA

'calm down'

"Take it easy"

Basically just telling him to chill, he didn't expect the telling off.

Because Rodgers said to the youngster they need to change there attuide and he was being cocky which is common for a 17 year old kid .
Jake

Basically 'calm down'

Maybe he thought BR was being a bit harsh in his words to the youngsters, that's my opinion.

When was this?!

When I was 19 & gave some lip to 3 steel erectors they held me up by feet while one jabbed me till I apologised & apologise I did! It will do raheem no harm Brendan is the boss and has to have the respect of his players or they will undermine him ...... Paisley's genius

to be honest brendan likes players of a certain character, humble hardworking intelligent

so no chance ever for adam johnson lazy, gaston ramirez lazy or daniel sturridge ego. these types of players just arent in brendan vision of players who embody a team built on the ethos of hard work mixed with technical talent

so for all you kids out there with your heads in the clouds, i d stake my lifethere s be no sturridge before the window closescos his personality just doesnt fit

28 Aug 2012 12:48:38
Seen the BR video pulling up Sterling and really impressed. He seems like a strong charachter. A manager these days needs to be able to handle "superstar players", the media, club owners, be a coach, a tactacian and a lot more. Rodgers is making all the right noises so far. I am getting a really good feeling about his policies and the way he is going about his business. I will trust in the signings and tactics. After reading Dempseys player profile -I must say I would like to have him in the squad. The future is looking brighter. Would love 3 points against Arsenal. I really think if Suarez and the boys get a tiny bit of luck - we could easily get 4th and make teams very afraid of us. C'mon you Reds

This week will go one of 2 ways!
Number 1: We will sign dempsey in next couple of days and maybe sell adam, spearing, cole etc.
Or Number 2: We will sign dempsey and on deadline day we will sell carroll, (hopefully not) and buy strurridge. i would love to see walcott come but i really dont think it will be happening now. Love to get your thoughts on this eds :) Zack A

As far as I am aware, there is no sell on clause at all, I don't know where that has come from.}

Thanks ..no add ons for apps,internation caps or anything like that then

Andy Carroll (£18m), Joe Cole (£3m), Jay Spearing (£3m) and Charlie Adam (£5m) are all up for sale. Their current asking prices are in brackets. Should a club offer the asking price or close to the asking price the bid will be accepted.

Should they be sold, Rodgers wants Dempsey and one of either Theo Walcott or Daniel Sturridge. Liverpool are still pursuing another loan signing. Rodgers would like to sign another left-back but time and funds have possibly beaten him.

Neither walcott or sturridge are worth their price tags

28 Aug 2012 12:38:29
We have a very solid defence, with Coates as cover for any cards/injuries.

We have midfield options that are so good, no one can agree on who the starting three should be.

We have good competition up top, I am assuming that Assaidi is pretty nifty, but admit to having never seen him play. With Suarez, Sterling, Borini and Assaidi we are very mobile and fluid.

TBH, I am pretty happy with our squad the way it is now. If a few get moved on who are surplus to requirements, personally I think one more striker and a left back could give us more strength in depth, but I would actually be happy with what we have got now. Any further improvements would be a bonus.

I still can't believe how good Allen was on Sunday. The lad is a machine! My biggest fear now is that we don't perform away from home. We should be going for 3 points every game we play. Anfield was rocking on Sunday, I am sure the team will do Ok at home, let's hope they don't need the crowd when we are playing away.

Nick

I also fell Sama is more than ready.

Hey mate the away crowd are much better at the singing even when were losing , an when we win away an score a couple the singing doesn't stop till we get back to Liverpool .

Hi eds, just curious, what sort of fee would Lewandovski command and what kind of wages is he on?

NextGenRed {Ed001's Note - I honestly have no idea about his wages at all, but you are looking at 20m+, would be more but his contract only has 2 years left.}

Thanks Ed, I just think that if Carroll, Adam, Spearing and Cole are to go and Dempsey signs, we should still have enough to get Lewandovski as he's a natural off the shoulder finisher, with strength and decent pace relatively young and a perfect foil for Suarez. But I don't think Dortmund would be looking to sell a prize asset at such a late stage which is
unfortunate

28 Aug 2012 10:14:58
{Ed001's Note - I really don't care about the price, we need a striker, right now he is about all we have, along with Borini. Hang on to him, or replace him, whichever I don't really care, but he can't go if he is not replaced, that would be madness.}

Hi Ed001,

Forgetting the variables (form, injuries etc.), who do you think will be leading the line come Sept 1? Will it still be Suarez, will it be Borini or do you think that Dempsey (providing he joins) will be the man?

Or, having said that, will it just be a very fluid front 3? Because so far we haven't really seen that fluidity...

Cheers,

Stone YNWA. {Ed001's Note - I think the plan is that Suarez leads the line, with Dempsey, Borini, Sterling, Assaidi etc as interchangeable parts of the front 3. I do expect more fluidity over time, I noticed Suarez a few times pulling out to the left, and motioning to Sterling to go central, during the weekend's match. Over time, the players will start to do it naturally, as they get to know each other's game. At the moment Borini is trying too hard to impress, spending far too much time chasing back, once he settles in then he can offer more going forward.}

Really appreciate the reply Ed001, cheers mate.

Stone YNWA.

Ed, I still love some of Borini's movement in the box. That run onto Sterling's cross was beautiful. Ghosted between the defenders and attacked the ball. Agree with you on his chasing back but give him 10 games and a short settle in period I think he will start clicking. I expect 25 goals from him and Saurez combined.

28 Aug 2012 12:30:43
Looks like Spearing is off to Bolton. That leaves us with 6 mid-fielders.
In this senario, with LFC playing in 4 competitions this season how does it make sense to sell Adam?
Lucas could be out till September and such injuries will happen throughout the season...
Same thing with Cole. This year we can say we have 4 wide players in Cole, Assaidi, Downing and Sterling...if we get Dempsey then 5, thats bare minimum i think...
Even though I understand the need to sell Adam and Cole, I think we would be better of with them in the squad for this season atleast. {Ed052's Note - 7 mate. Lucas, Gerrard, Sahin, Shelvey, Adam, Henderson, Allen. And Adam will go}

U forgot about suso so 8

Don't forget Suso and Coady too

RedSG

Then there's Suso, Agger who can cover defensive midfield, Johnson who can play left and right mid (including wide), even Kelly can pull a shift at right mid (including wide) if needed. Midfield (and wide player) cover is not a problem and won't be even if we manage to off-load Spearing, Adam & Cole without replacing any of them. As things stand, we need a senior level front player (Dempsey) and that is all. RED LENIN

God I hope this is true, we need to get rid of spearing coz he's useless.......il respect Rodgers a lot more if he sells spearing

Evertonian in peace. Just wanted to say that you boys were very good on sunday and deff deserved the 3 points. I couldnt believe it when i saw the starting line ups, but my god you have got one classy little player in Sterling. Ive heard people talking about him, but never seen him play. He is a class act, 17 years old and making his debut (well i think it was his debut) in a game of that magnitude. I just thought it was really impressive, and well played to BR for giving him the start. Anyway, i know you dont like us coming on your site, but i just wanted to post that. Cheers.

Balanced view from a Blue , very rare these days , well done !

Me being a londoner with a dad from Liverpool, been brought up as a Red, don't have a problem with Everton but obv my dad does but I dig all scousers, they are class!

Great post. Looking pretty sharp yourselves this season.

You're welcome to come on with posts like that lad

Cheers mate :) You guys been playing well as well good win against the Mancs shame we didn't beat man c as well that would of been nice

You talk more sense than some of the Liverpool fans on here!

Well said fella, well said...

Stevie.

When i started watching football and began my love affair with LFC, there was always a friendly rivalry with Everton.. we shared the stands, had a drink before matches and banter was witty and good natured.. when did it change?. and why?.. familys like my own are split red and blue.. we dont hate each other.. were all scousers! and id always cheer on Everton against the skanks n Chelsea etc!
ItsNotRocketScience

I like fair and balanced views fromall fans, and to be honest everton are gonna be a good side this season also,love to see the glory days back with liverpool and everton on top, i grew up on things like lineker v hansen,rush southall dalglish sheedy all top quality.

you outplayed united and all fergie could do was bemoan the long ball to felliani, but you had much more than along ball and he knows that. you totally destroyed villa in the first half on saturday and you re looking pretty good. moyes is an amazing manager and your team looks stable

you re actually managing to get gibson playing really well(good for me i m irish, and some good signings in the last year jelavic mirallas), pienaar has come back home and personally i think kompany and maybe vidic aside you ve got the best cb in the premier league and he definately ought to be an england starter. good times to be an everton fan methinks

p.s. i m going for sunderland and fulham to be this years surprise teams, i really rate both managers very highly

tom1975

Thanks for the all the nice replies boys. Im not a deluded Evertonian, I can see whats in front of me. All of my relatives are reds and just my immerdiate family are blues, but i sat in the pub with my uncle and cheered you boys on against city on sunday. I dont really all the aggressive comment from some blues to red and some reds to blues. It should be fun and a bit of banter doenst hurt anyone. But lets not slag eachother off just for the hell of it. Look at them lot in Manchester and London spending all there money and hating eachother. I dont think we should be like that as we are from liverpool, with decent teams and further more decent people. Say the name hillesborough, and we all unite, say the Names Madelaine Mccann and Ryhs Jones and we all unite. I think we should be united always. In the city of Liverpool we trust. Oh and a shout out to our neighbours Tranmere, great start. Anyway, cheers lads, Sorry about the long message.
RobbyMac. By the way my comments were the first but forgot to leave my name. {Ed052's Note - I will get stick for this, but I actually dont mind Everton at all. I repect them, their players, their gutsy performances. I hate Chelsea, Arsenal etc, no Everton}

Ive turned against EFC cos've hate ive received. How refreshing Both your posts. I was always taught, even if you dislike a team, person/Whatever-Give credit where its due. Well done for that. And have to admit EFC look a good side. Moyes again works wonders on a shoestring

We shud giv him till january

Sort of both! He's not in BR plans but he has shown that he can adapt to his play so sort of both!

He almost scored the winner this sunday.
I would love to keep him.

Selling downing and bringing in Sturridge makes more sense than selling Carroll a d brining in Sturridge...if we sell Carroll we get what Carroll was supposed to be, a clinical finisher.

Dempsey for £10m (agree) or Sturridge £20 (disagree)?

Both for £20 mil.

More like Dempsey for 6 million and Sturridge for 14 million.

We should definitely go for Sturridge if he's available for 20 quid!

When you buy anything. Ask yourself. Why does the seller want to sell ?
I you don't ask yourself this question, you could be in for trouble.
Why did Roma want to sell Borini?
Why does Chelsea want to sell Sturridge?
We need a top class out and out striker.

CDS

Roma wanted to sell borini because of the profit

styurridge wants 2 leave to get more 1st team oppurtunitys

Well my friend, for every buyer there is a seller. Does it mean everyone is selling bad eggs to us?

Other factors come in, such as how the player fits into the manager's playing style, transfer fees, players to replace (either existing or new)

So we shouldnt buy anyone because the other club is willing to sell them? this is ridiculous so we just have to wait for a star to come through?

Why did arsenal sell RVP, fabregas and nasri... Such a stupid post.

My take on the game against City on the weekend.

It was a pity that we did not take the three points as we were certainly good for it on the day.

Joe Allen looks as if this lad can play and I really hope that he continues to!

We desperately need another couple of players that can penetrate from wide positions.

Sterling do a great job and looks a prospect, but will only be a bit part player until he gets a 100 games under his belt.

It is a shame that we lost Lucas as we really needed that some fresh legs with 20 minutes to go.

We are not fit enough at the moment to maintain the tempo of our current system (this will obviously come in due course), so it would have been good to be able to bring on some fresh legs in the midfield and get back on the ball as we turn it over far too many times in the closing stages of the game, which ultimately cost us 2 points.

I really hope that we can recruit another striker that can finish. Suarez played well on Sunday and scored a great goal from a free kick, but I really wish he would convert more of the types of opportunities he has like when Borini played him in and he should of made it 2:0. We would have ran away with it from then on!

It will be interesting to see how we set up with Sahin coming in. Another ball playing midfielder which will help us keep possession but he is not a goal scoring midfielder, neither is Allen, so unless Gerrard gets a few we will struggle to find the goals in the big games again this year...

Not sure if anyone remembers the evolution of the Torres transfer? Was one offers from Chelsea - 35m pounds and Sturridge or was he never offered as bait for the El Nino? {Ed052's Note - It was, we rejected Sturriodge then}

Oh we should have taken that. Instead we spent £35m on someone who doesn't fit. So in effect we turned down £35m + Sturridge for £15m + Andy Carroll.

I'm delighted Cammolli got the sack. The man is a joker.

28 Aug 2012 11:49:43
Hi Eds and fans;
I for one despise Sturridge, and if people think he's worth 20mill are fools. The lad has a serious problem he left city for more money at near 90,000 a week. Hell be expecting near 100,000 a week off us. Do you really think e worth same wages as Suarez? Not a chance. He's greedy on the ball doesn't have good awareness. If were willing to spend 20million on a striker I think we should break the bank and spend an extra few million like around 25milion on a player like Muniain. I for one think he is the player who is hiding behind the smokescreen of Sturridge. Assaidi came under the radar and talks on Muniain have been quiet for over 2months. I'm not saying I'm in the know-how, I'm just been a realistic Liverpool fan. We have to give Rodgers time and I for one think he has done great so far. Allen and Sterling are brilliant but I'm even more so impressed by Sterling. What a talent. Thanks eds. year doing a gr8 job. Any comments would be appreciated

I agree that he's not great and will demand a lot of cash but i think your wage estimates are wide of the mark.

I recon he will be more effective on the bench. i.e lfc will play better score more and wingers such as sterling will get assists lol

This is a very interesting call , something that I have thought of myself on occasion .

He seems a bit one - paced to play out wide , I am old enough to remember when we changed Ray Kennedy's position , that seemed to work out fine .

Let's face it , we have got to find somewhere for him , there is no sign of him leaving this window . {Ed001's Note - he played central a lot for Villa.}

He needs to take a deep breath and stop worrying about what people think.......just paly your game Mr Downing.

A mate of mine in East London, Leytonstone bumped into Joe Cole yesterday. He asked him if he was leaving and he categorically said NO. He will fight for his place in the team and is currently out injured.

He was in East London to visit family and not doing deals with the Hammers.

He has even stated he will be fit for the Sunderland game.

So all those who claim Cole is going .. he isnt. BR wants him to stay.

Seriously man. We need to stop with the hate of Man United and focus it towards Man City. Man United and Liverpool have a rivalry which is built on success and achievement, very similar clubs in terms of history and tragedies. Both teams built great sides through self raised funds. Yeah Man United buy the odd 30 million player, they also sell out 76,000 most weeks. Man City are a disgusting club who have bought there way to the top, even as champions they dont sell out there ground (what 48,000). As my good mate NC says "Bring off Wee Jay". Good site Fred :-).

Man Utd buy the odd 30 million player. What about us?? Do we not spend money like that on Carroll, Downing, Henderson, even borini was 11 mill and joe allen was 15 mill. So im not sure how you can say that to be honest. We spend enough ourselves. But i agree with the way they have gone about things, i actually used to follow city for the last 20 years as my cousin is a big city fan. And to be honest even he is fed up with the money being spent on selfish players that just want a big pay day. Where were these players when city were in league 2. They just dont seem to have and City basis to there squad. At least we still have Gerrard and Carra. And to be fair to united the try to do the same.

I think arsenals the only club who hasn't spent much and reached the top. The man city owner wants to win he couldn't do that with the crap team he already had he needed the best to just compete. Besides at least there using english players in there first team an there not just on the bench

I will always support 2 teams. Liverpool, and whoever is playing United. my dislike for them is as great as my love for LFC, and it doesn't seem like there's anything that I can do about it. I love to hate them!

Nick {Ed001's Note - whereas I support Liverpool, nobody else. If a United win would help us, then I would happily cheer on United. I find it sad that anyone would waste their time with hatred of anything or anyone.}

Fair enough ed 1. By nature, I am a lover not a hater, but this is my 1 indulgence!

Nick

Agree with Ed 001 - the clue's in the word 'supporter'. Not interested in any other club, love for one teamonly LIVERPOOL FC!

Ed can u tell a better cb pairing playing in world football better than Agger and Skrtel {Ed052's Note - Not many, a couple maybe}

Pepe and ramos

kompany and lescott

formerly vidic and rio

Hummels and Subotic. But thats it in my opinion.

KiwiRed

Kelly and Coates!

I agree skrtel agger is 1 of the best but there are some very good ones e.g.

hummels subotic
pique ramos(spain)

Kompany and Lescott and possibly Terry and Cahill are the only better cb partnerships in the EPL.

In other leagues maybe Subotic and Hummels but its hard to judge because they're in a weaker league.

Pique and Puyol, Pepe and Albiol

Sakho and Thiago Silva are brilliant individually but have not played together much.

I can't think of many others but please correct me if i'm wrong.

Subotic/Hummels pairing is much better.

Stephane & Sami!!!!!

Kompany and Lescott. LOL
I agree Kompany is one of the best but his pairing with Lescott is not that great. And please don't give me that CITY HAD THE BEST DEFENCE IN THE LEAGUE. It was mainly because they dominate posession and have JOE HART.

Dont get me wrong, i would absolutely love Huntelaar to be playing alongside Suarez, but I don't see the logic. Surely if what Macca says is right, and the owners are unsure over Dempsey because of his age, why would they agree to Huntelaar when he is the same age and twice the price?

28 Aug 2012 10:52:43
why dont we sign michael owen?? free agent and a proven goalscorer!! yes he went to man utd but im sure everybody wouldnt care if he came and scored the goals for us.. no matter what anybody thinks of him his goal record is still brilliant at both club and international level and he still only 32 year old. worth a punt i think

He hasn't played hardly in the last 2 seasons.

Surely the position we most urgently need to fill is out wide? If Brendan is trying 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 then it seems vital we sign a right wing. Borini's not convincing there, and Dempsey doesn't seem ideal for the position.

What happened to a deal for Adam Johnson (unwanted at Man City)? At least STURRIDGE has experience out wide

Who is your central striker - Suarez ?

Did you see the West Brom game ?

We could do with Walcott and Dempsey, both of whom are highly versatile in attacking positions. I'd be happy with this

You say borinis not good enough after 2 games! Sturridge the kid doesn't know how to pass the ball! He's so frustrating to watch! Why would you want a player who wants all the glory? He wastes all of chelsea's possession

Adam johnson signed for sunderland

28 Aug 2012 10:44:14
All this rubbish criticising Borini, remember how many games Crouch went without scoring and when he did the crowd and players were ecstatic. Lay off Borini or go and play FIFA and come back to the site in ten games. Then we'll see how he is progressing. I like him and can see him scoring between ten and twenty in all competitions for us.
McB

Please dont listen to the Borini doubter's.The lad will come good&when he does all his doubter's will say they alway's said he would come good..You no how it goes..YNWA!!

The kid is the real deal. Simple as that. Anyone that was at the Gomel match (not just the goal) could see his movement, work rate and technical ability are high quality. I'd personally prefer to see him playing through the middle with Suarez off him but I think Rodgers is saving him from the added pressure of being the mian man until he gets his confidence. Something that won't happen quickly with this generation of fans who care only for Fantasy Team points. Get behind the kid and the rest of the Reds. Sing his name and see him flourish!

FatJanMolby

I agree FatJanMolby, I would also prefer to see him in the centre with Suarez and Sterling (or new striker/winger) in wide positions. Borini and Allen know exactly how to play in BR's system and do not need time to adapt. The signs are good so far but I am still treating this season as a learning curve and will be patient.
I expected nothing from the Man City game and it is credit to the players, manager and coaches that we came away with a point and a sense of disappointment.

Borini will score 20 goals prhaps in a couple of years but it is a big ask for a 21 year old to chip in with that tally.

Predictions for closing days of transfer window.

Man City to come back in for Agger. Bid of around £22.5 mill (Still don't think he will go and will sign a new £80 000 a week contract.)

Jay Spearing Bolton bound £2.2 mill.

Charlie Adam for £4.5 - £5 mill. Maybe Everton.

West Ham in for Cole anything up to £3.5 mill.

Carrol will go to the wire with Newcastle finishing up paying £18 mill.

We WILL bring in a top notch striker. I have heard rumours of a bid for Nolito if the right amount of money can be brought in from the above sales.

Whatever happens, i think this is going to be quite a tense but exciting week and am looking forward to see how our new look team plays this coming season.

Some so called fans on here do my head in. I don't see why some people are calling for FSG to go. We are in a building process for the club. At present we are not a regular champions league club and therefore will not be paying champions league wages. I know some people will say speculate to accumulate but look at Leeds and you will see how dangerous that is. Also with the fair play rules coming out you can't spend more than you earn.

FSG and Brendan are looking at players that can improve the squad and take us to the next level. Get us into a champions league spot and then solidify from there. It's not a quick fix and will take some time. I know it seems like we have been in transition for about 20 years. We almost had it with Benitez but he didn't get the backing he required from Rick Parry and personally I always thought Rafa put more into winning the champions league than the Premier League.

I hate to use Fergie as an example because I really do not like the man but you can't take away his achievements. Sorted out behind the scenes and got the youth set up sorted. Started winning stuff and carried on from there. Bought one or 2 big name players most years and got the rest from the youth.

Just a few observations from a long time fan.

Gazza

Gazza mate you should check your facts mate coz fergie didn't set youth set up he was lucky they were set before him

Eds,

Regarding Stewart Downing :- He has talent no doubt, but is he lazy, is his application poor, or is he just not good enough?....

Old Swan Red Man {Ed052's Note - It's confidence IMO?}

It his mentality! No real belief in his abilities for me.

If BR could instil some belief in him, we could have a decent player on our hands, not a £20m winger mind, but a decent player

RedSG

Maybe it is confidence...but if you are a plasterer and you are not confident, you wont get any work...same applies IMO -

Also significant as to how many of Kenny's signing were on the bench or didn't make the squad....as Bob Dylan said, Times they are a changing

Old Swan Red Man

He is the 6 million dollar man but k.k paid 14 over the odds

Of all the players we signed during KD's term, Downing is the one that has disappointed me the most. He has the ability in my opinion and I don't think it's a confidence thing either.

He seems to one of those players who will do what he does, over and over again, but does not show any sort of improvement or desire to go on and improve on the pitch. And, he doesn't seem to bothered about fight, spirit or passion. it's almost as if he is saying, "Right, this is how I play and that's the only way I will play".

Perhaps Sterling getting ahead of him in the Man City game could give him the kick up his keester that he needs and he will realise he needs to up his game. Here's hoping.

Ed's,

Although I am unsure that the owners would be able to put a financial package together that would be acceptable to Athletic Bilbao, seeing Fernando Llorente left out of the squad for the first 2 La Liga matches (due to the player refusing to commit his future to the club) got me thinking. If Andy Carroll, Charlie Adam and Jay Spearing all left the club, I think we would easily be able to pay Llorente's contract. The only things getting in the way would be other interested clubs (I'm sure there will be LOADS) and financial backing from the board.
Anyway, just wanted to know if you had heard of any clubs sniffing about the player?

Cheers

ElRoja {Ed052's Note - It would be possible, but unlikely due to the type of player I would have thought}

ed,052 any chance of us getting Toby alderweireld from Ajax ? top player who can cover centreback, right back that frees johnson to play left back when needed and kelly as long term replacement for carra..
looking at belgian centrebacks in the premier league (kompany, vertonghen, vermaelan ) they cope pretty well.. {Ed052's Note - No}

I Know one've Ed's doesnt agree, plus fair few Reds. Still think if we cant either ship out some excess or get Main targets, Defoe maybe cheap/short term bargain with his experience {Ed052's Note - It depends how mcuh I guess}

How would people feel about a bid for Defoe? Quick and scores goals - would he do a decent job for us?

28 Aug 2012 09:34:11
Ed's,

If Andy Carroll leaves, before the window closes on Friday, do you know of any interest from Liverpool in PSG's Kevin Gameiro?

Seen him a few times and he certainly seems to know where the net is. Had a good season last year but with Zlatan and Lavezzi coming in the player has found that his playing time is reduced.

Just wondering if we were in for him or if you know of any clubs to have registered interest in the player?

Cheers

ElRoja {Ed052's Note - There could be - so says his agent}

28 Aug 2012 09:31:09
Extra reason to get Dempsey is Sunderland could well be a rival to us with squad their building. Makes them stronger and us weaker if thet steel him

28 Aug 2012 09:29:19
Reina needs to be less blase' and sort his concentration. First goal he couldve done better. He'll be fine if he can do that

He needs a backup keeper that can challenge him for his place, keep him on his toes ... Butland would be good for this.

si666

First goal Skrtel got a tiny nick on the ball which sent it past Reina. Breakdown in communication, possibly the goalkeeper's fault but no guarantee. He made a great save late on against Hearts having done nothing for 90 minutes - don't think there's anything wrong with his concentration

How Many More Signings Can We All Expect To See At Liverpool {Ed052's Note - 1, 2 or 3}

Or 4, 5 & 6 even {Ed052's Note - No, 1,2,3 becasue how many in depends on who we shift out}

A couple of mate i know up in Scotland told me about a year ago that there is a called johnny russell and he going to be the next massive thing in scottish football, then i see that everton are linked very strong to him so i say lets out bid them and sign him up. geoff

Hi eds

I know this is probably going to be shot down in flames, but here goes anyway...is there any interest in Nani, there is alot of talk of him being available, I know he is over at the whiskey nose brigade, but in my opinion he is real quality and would add real quality to the squad...

Cheers

I think that Sturridge (reported today) would be a massive mistake and would not help with the style Rodgers wants to play going forward. I am not sure if its just me, but the guy only passes the ball when he is in trouble. He plays himself and not the team, £15 million would be a huge gamble.

I agree , with those 15million we could tempt lisandro lopez/vucinic/kiessling

I have been reading on the echo website and they have said that Lucas could be back for Sunderland on Sept 15. Fingers crossed the medical staff are hopeful.

Also it says that its increasingly likely that Carroll will be staying. It says we are after Dempsey and that Adam and Cole could be moved on. Also spearing is close to a loan move.

Huntelaar, Falacao, Remy, Leandro Damiao, Hulk, Higuain, Lewandowski, Ozil, Llorente, Susaeta, Muniain are realistic targets that if we ship 3 of the wage bill (Carroll, Cole, Adam) then that's 200k off the wage bill that can be spent on one or maybe two of these players?

When you've paid one player 200k a wk
What do you do when Gerrard and Suarez
Knock on the door. Then the rest of the first team.
End up like Portsmouth maybe!!!

Lyndon

Wage bill....what about the small matter of massive transfer fees for most of them and nearly all with offers from teams in champions league?

Irish Al

Love some of those names, cant see it

Why are people thinking that we can get half of these players? Without CL, they most of those players won't consider us.

And PLEASE let the Ozil link die, there is no truth or foundation to it other than from delusional people on here. He was Madrid main main behind Ronaldo, he will not be leaving.

28 Aug 2012 08:55:50
There are many other forwards we should have bought before Borini better ones who cost less. Also proven ones for less money.

Quit your whining,we don't want to hear it. And if you don't like it,go to another club where it's ok to criticise your own players after 5 games.
Unklemad.....

What's wrong with Borini? I thought he was good

He's 21 and played two games for us. Cannot believe how fickle fans have gotten.

Once he gets a goal or two, the Borini doubters will hopefully be put to bed alongside the Allen doubters that are currently sucking on their pacifiers having been resounding shocked by how FIFA ratings are different to real life.

Ojay

I don't think we'll see the best of Borini until he is played through the middle.

If we buy sturridge then Rodgers might as well do1 back to swansea. He is greedy,cant pass(or never seen him pass),LAZY, Arrogant, overpriced by 15 million, stubborn,late for training often i know from a guy that works in the chelsea training ground. He is also not good for the harmony of the dressing room.He seems to not follow instructions in training and then gets angry when the coaches/management tell him he is doing the wrong thing.I was also told during AVB's time at chelsea he used to wear headphones while training not listening to fitness coach. This is what i was told by a member of the chelsea training ground a few weeks ago after he missed the pen for the GB team.

As much as I dislike strurridge but telling BR to go do one is a bit irrational.. But everyone saying they want strurridge he is rubbish! I don't want him no where near Liverpool except when Chelsea play strurridge at anfield and he's on the bench

Yeah, that's Sturridge alright.
Chelsea want rid.

Skanky Ho

Thats why you have a manager! To manage players/egos. AVB couldnt do that. Sturridge if harnessed has raw talent.

Surely there should be clauses in there contract that if he behaves poorly then they can terminate his contract

And he wont be played through the middle until he has scored ten goals from the wing and the manager feels he is ready for that level of responsibilty, but when he does we will have our pocket rocket sized ian rush

Eds lot of speculation about Sturridge circulating but LFC having to sell first to raise the funds to buy him. If this goes ahead will it mean the end of the Dempsey saga the owners seem reluctant to spend money on a player his age. And if we didn't take Sturridge as part of the Torres deal why do we want him now. {Ed052's Note - People thought that Sturridge was rubbish before, now they dont. We do need to sell to buy, but when Adam and Spearing are off, that should free up enough funds for Dempsey. If and when Carroll goes, it could fund one, if not two transfers. So if no-one leaves, I would say one, unlinked player in. IF Cole, Adam, Spearing and Carroll go, I would expect two or three}

In the price of sturridge we must imo get two players Dempsey & benfica man Nolito...
holy_red.

Ild like Sturridge and Dempsey. Is Walcott still a possibility Ed? {Ed052's Note - I dont think so no - unless a new contract is not agreed, or he refuses, before the window closes}

Liverpool have been strongly linked with Ramirez all summer but looks like Southampton have finally agreed a club-record £11m deal for Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez, 21, and will pay him £45,000 a week.

Whats it coming to when a good player is snapped up by a lesser club in terms of status and size. Is this how bad things have become at Liverpool. Strikers/Forwards very much needed.

Why liverpool fans are saying FSG are not backing our manager coz they don't want to pay for Dempesy. Let's be honest rodgers wanted striker and chose Borini and FSG backed him by funding. Now looks like Borini is not the answer so Rodgers wants another striker. Why should FSG Back him for same problems coz borini was bought to solve our Goals problems.

Jesus Christ! Give Borini a chance will you! He has played all of 3 games so far, and looked good in all of them. Just needs some time to gel with his new teammates.

BrisbaneLFC

How can you tell if a player is the answer after two games?

I think Borini will be a great signing.

Mighty reds

Rodgers has wanted Dempsey from the start, before Borini

Borini is hungry and wants to score, and when he starts he will be a great addition. Predict he'll get a couple against hearts. Johndog

Migty reds if rodgers bought Borini to solve our goals problems then why he wants dempesy for same problems and wants owners to fund again for same Problems

How can you disrespect borini like that! I seriously wonder about some "fans" on here I really do!

Irish Al

Ever heard of squad depth, we need strikers full stop, not because Borini hasn't scored 10 goals in three games.

Borini has been excellent so far. Passionate, hard working, tactically shrewd and will be a handful. It's obvious you know little and have seen little.

Ultra red

He probably wants Dempsey so we can have different options in our squad at a guess.

Mighty reds

Well Dempsey isn't a striker like Borini

he obviously saw that suarez and borini can't and won't be 45goals a season between them so needs players "around" those two that can create and score goals from midfield and wide areas.

plus carroll isn't in his plans and if carroll is sold then and only then will we go for a striker. (walcott, gameiro that type of players)

I think we should get behind the team not get on certain players backs. y.n.w.a borini.

Big shelvey had a stormer n sahin is there , were ok , but a shame 4 lucas

I think it solves a problem..

I don't think BR will start Lucas and Allen in the same side too many times as Allen can play that deeper role, and when he came on v hearts he made us play.

Allen - Sahin - Gerrard

Shelvey stormer???

Worry with Lucas is after that type of injury you pick up lots of niggeling knocks because your bodies compensating. Hope i'm wrong but he may struggle to be the same player, at least consistantly

Clearly we are in need of another left back. Ed001 has said we are interested in finding a new LB. But who are we looking at. I don't recall any names being mentioned on this site except Pereira and Cissoko who have now both moved to new clubs. Do any of the eds have any clues as to who we may be looking at?

Geoff {Ed052's Note - Me and Ed001 have different views on a left back. I think there is no chance of one coming in}

Maybe vargas is an option

Just play Downing there if we are not shipping him out. Just my two cents.

Jack Robinson, Jose Enrique and Brad Smith? Also Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger and the new carlos cough cough Stewart Downing. Happy with want we've got, admittedly would be happier with one more player who can play in forward three. Redevon

I think Downing as left back would be great for him and team.
Has the whole game in front of him, can pick his time when to get forward & I think it would take the pressure of him thinking he has to create something everytime he has the ball.
Johnson wasn't the best defender to start with but has come gd.
I think Downing is more coach able then Johnson ie. less ego

Carrol to go for 17 mil
Adam for 4 mil
Spearing for 2 mil
Cole for 2 mil,

Expect Lewandowski/Llorente to sign for around 25 mil and dempsey for 6 mil...

Good bit of business in my opinion...

SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON TAUNTS STEVEN GERRARD

ABOVE: Liverpool stalwart Steven Gerrard Maybe he needs to change clubs if he wants to have that title
28th August 2012 By Steve Goodman
FORMER England boss Sven Goran Eriksson claims Steven Gerrard will never win the Premier League with Liverpool.

Eriksson has not been impressed by Liverpool's start to the season under new boss Brendan Rodgers.

And he reckons time is running out for 32-year-old England skipper Gerrard to win a title at Anfield.

Eriksson, 64, said: "Steven Gerrard is 'Mr Liverpool' and he has won the Champions League, Super Cup, FA Cup and League Cup with them.

"But will he ever win a Premier League title?

''As things look now, absolutely not.

"A lot of things have to change at Liverpool for that to happen.

''The American owners have to give more money and buy the right players.

"They have a good coach in Brendan Rodgers but the players did anything but play well together.

"I don't begrudge a good guy like Steven winning the Premier League, but maybe he needs to change clubs if he wants to have that title.

"Both my dad and I have been Liverpool fans since the club's heyday in the 1980s but the Liverpool we see today is far from the top level.''

He really knows what hes talking about lol

28 Aug 2012 07:32:51
Possibly 4 players will go still.

Spearing, Cole, Carroll & Adam.

If all go it will take around 300k a week off the wage bill.

This will then allow a striker, and possibly one other player to come in.

Just my opinion.

If FSG aint going to back BR and get Dempsey why the f don't they just sell the club.It seems like Sunderland have more money then FSG. If they wanted a mid table club they should have got one not liverpool. The fact that they did not sign A Johnson and Dempsey for relativley small fees shows a lack of ambition to me. If Sturridge comes it will make me sick. He is the most overated player ive ever seen.He is so greedy and only plays for himself. And he is another chelsea reject which BR loves because he has worked with him. Looks like all the clubs will improve around us and we will get worse. {Ed002's Note - Rodgers has never worked with Sturridge.}

Why is it the minute we dont get a certain player people come out with the SELL The CLUB ,so far FSG have backed the manager when required,as far as A Johnson I was dissapointed we didnt get him but did we really want him and seeing Raheem play agianst City do we need him

Delusional or what - FSG stopped us being in administration, just be happy with that for the time being.
Johnson was never an option for LFC.

John B

How many times have you actually watched Sturridge live? Or are you just jumping on the 'he's lazy, greedy, selfish' bandwagon? I don't remember anyone saying a bad thing about him while he was banging goals in for Bolton on loan.

Thomas

Mate they backed him he wnted Borini to solve our goals problems they backed unfortunately he doesn't looke to score 15/20 goals so rodgers want another striker. f

Most overated player in europe

I've seen him play loads of times. Prob been watching him d last 2or 3 seasons. Just cause he scores 1 or 2 goals don't make him a clinical finisher we need. He's selfish, arrogant and not a face(like aj) I didnt want to see in a Liverpool jersey. Robbie leaned is a better finisher than sturridge

Ever thought Rogers had never wanted Johnson? Players are linked here everyday, none of them may even be on our radar, let the manager get the players he wants, don't go shouting the odds because someone you liked went elsewhere, we cant buy everyone.

Hi any of the eds could clear me the biggest doubt i have right now. Is Dempsey being targeted as a replacement for Carroll or not. I mean if Carroll is sold, do you expect us to try to bring in Dempsey and one more forward in. I also saw Ed001 suggesting a left back being an option too. Do u know any targets we are pursuing. Personally I will leave the position to Enrique and Robinson and not to mention Johnson and Flanagan could also play there. We must put our efforts on forwards and just sell Cole, Adam, Spearing and integrate Sterling, Suso, Morgan etc in to team.

AJ {Ed052's Note - Dempsey is a target. Ed001 has mentioned a left back, but I think interest in a left back disapeared ages ago. We will find out soon enough}

Lyon have said they have received 2 bids for bafitimi Gomez from 2 Top premiership teams! I'm guessing spurs is one? Us maby? {Ed052's Note - I would doubt it}

And your reply was not good enough , so who would you recommend with the budget we have .which seems to be about 10 million ,or save cash pull Morgan in ?cheers psv {Ed052's Note - Rhodes. Dempsey. Anybody younger than him and on lower wages}

Just shows FSG need to sell the club. 10 million is nothing these days in football.

So when are going to give 10 million to FSG,if such amount these days is no big deal.

lads every one asking for an out and striker may well be disappointed as B.R said he wants the team to score not just 1 player with all the pressure , asking for sturridge (rubbish) remy ( playing fifa to much) and the likes are mad , we hired a great manager who knows who he needs , it a 4 year plan ,it will take that to get players and playing how he wants . i ask to support our club like sunday, anfield was hoping and stop with negatives about owners , manager etc. rome wasnt built in day, YNWA

looks like Carroll will be leaving, really disappointed as I thought he had the potential to be a quality player.
I would love to see 2 attacking players brought in before the window slams shut.
would be over the moon with Dempsey and Giovinco as i think they are the missing pieces in our team atm.

28 Aug 2012 02:15:23
Why Sturridge, Here are the better options than Sturridge based on realistic price range of 12-17m:

1) Loic Remy ( Club in financial problems)
2) Klaas Jan Huntelaar ( age a problem but good quick fix)
3) Adrian Lopez ( Club in financial problems)
4) Welliton
5) Rossi
6) Soldado

I'd take soldado in a heartbeat...look no further

Rossi is hurt soldado is way to much and Wellington is to much

1) Teams have been quoted 15-20mil
2) Huntelaar would cost 25mil easy.
3) Again teams quoted very high price
4) Would he settle quickly?
5) Suffered a horrific injury which may or may not end his career, thus too big a risk
6) Recently signed a new long term contract

The best and cheapest option available is clearly Clint Dempsey and I really hope we get him. Massively under rated player.

KiwiRed

If its right that we still have 10 budget and we sell carroll for 15m then we could go for either llorente/lewandowski else we could go for a cheap option like lisandro lopez ( but age is an issue )

Have to agree with original post

After that City game I am really excited about our upcoming season. Can't wait for Hearts on Thursday. Sterling, Allen, Shelvey, Borini, Coates, Kelly, Suso, even Carroll and Henderson are top-class young players. This would be a great team in a few years:

Reina
Kelly-Coates-Agger-Enrique
Allen-Lucas-Shelvey
Sterling-Suarez-Borini

Allen will in my opinion be a Liverpool legend. Borini will score loads this season. Optimism is the way forward. Rodgers is the best young manager around and will lead us through years of success.

Red Ollie

That's practically the team we played on Sunday, this would be mine;
Reina
Kelly Sama Coates Robinson
Ibe Allen Suso
Sterling Suarez Teixeira
The thing is we have so many potentially great ones coming through that it was hard to pick that team. Plus so many like Shelvey and Lucas who already in the team.

Exciting times lie ahead for us reds

Hold your horses mate. Stop Getting ahead of yourself because you'll look bad if it doesn't happen.

Rodgers is right. A few injuries and suddenly we will struggle.
I am a Rafa man not a Rodgers man. Yet Rodgers has the right idea. A thin squad, then suddenly we will struggle.
A goal poacher and a back.
FSG stop worrying about the wage bill. We need more troops !
Today's game is so demanding. A few injuries.....then?
Nelsinho

Knew the post would be pointless after you said you were a Benitez man.

Do you have to be either or? Why Rodgers or Rafa? Why not just Liverpool?

KiwiRed

Apart from Allen, that was Kenny's team against City.
Sturridge ?
Is this a Rodgers joke ?

Hilly

Have I missed something again? - when did Rodgers say he wanted Sturridge - speculation again by the media.

As if it was going to be anything else than Kennys team - 2nd league game of the season - but how often did Kenny play Coates and Sterling, Borini and Allen played.

John B

Kenny would never have played sterling or Coates in a big game from the start.

Also kenny did not sign borini, so I think you are talking rubbish.

Apart from ...... was giant in that game Borini didnt do to bad either.

If Liverpool sell J Cole or Downing then we can expect Afellay to arrive at LFC on loan!

Ha ..... Afellay?
Wake Up will ya? Liverpool are not gonna pull off a signing of Affellys quality, Downing is about right for Liverpool... You are No longer a top 4 team....You play depressing football and im glad Skrtel Screwed up in the end cuz we would Never hear the end of it if you Pulled off a win !
Oh and if ure wondering who i represent? The Club that made Sterling ;-)

J

Qpr got owned 5-0 by Swansea...the club that made Brendan rogers :)

Sahin is a better player than Afellay yet we were able to loan him...

The club that made sterling is lfc , qpr are what they are

A QPR fan telling us about our problems, isn't that ironic...u guys might as well start watching the championship now, cause that's where u will be next year

QPR didn't make Sterling, they sold him. ():~)

Also we beat City in the Cup over two legs and then went on to win the cup, i'd not mention it but you seem to have forgotten about it.

;)

So go back to their site J?

Ahh so the team that gets torn apart by Norwich and Swansea? The team that has a ridiculous wage bill with a bunch of old crocks? And the same team that will be relegated this season, and with their huge wage bill become financially crippled? Have fun then mate!

Just a thought with us needing a top goal scorer!

Would any of these be possible?

Stefan Jovetic
Robert Lewandowski
Leandro Damiao

They are all proven goal scores at a top quality club and country level ( maybe not Jovetic (: but the rest ) Anyone of these would be great signing however I'm not too sure on their prices - could you enlighten me :)

Cheers in advance :)

Robert Lendowski isn't leaving unless for a bigger club in he Champions League.

Stevan Jovetic was wanted by Rafa all those years ago, but it didn't happen and now Chelsea and Man City are flirting with the idea of signing him. Although the Fiorentina chairman said it was too late for him to leave as they'd struggle with finding a replacement at such short notice.

Leandro Damiao club want close to £40 million for their star striker.

Ok so basically I think we need a backup LB to Enrique although it isn't really required but I'd say Dempsey could fill in as a winger and then we would need a proper goalscorer which would leave Borini as a backup striker..Before the transfer window closes I hope this happens because if it does then we should be excited for great things with this team..

In
Huntelaar
But realistically maybe Sturridge or Bent
Dempsey

Out
Adam
Spearing
Carroll
Cole

Best lineup

Reina
Enrique---Agger---Skrtel---Johnson
Sahin--Gerrard---Allen
Assaidi/Sterling---Huntelaar/Sturridge/Bent---Dempsey

Looks a great team but hopefully Assaidi proves to be a bargain and when Lucas comes back then it will be tough to decide who he should replace..If sahin finds his Dortmund form and Allen keeps on playing like he has been and with Gerrard being our captain and leader and is still a great player..I don't know unless we change the formation and Gerrard goes deeper..

No place for suarez. get a grip!

Talksport are reporting D.sturridge could sign for liverpool for £15 m once we have shipped out the likes of adam, downing and carroll. They have also said chelsea will be looking for a replacement with hulk and lewendoski(spelling) on their radar before they are willing to accept the bid as they only have 2 known strikers.
Expect it to be a very busy week for lfc before the window shuts.

Chelsea are a deluded football club. They have Torres, mata, hazard, Marin, Oscar yet they still want to bring in hulk...why waste so much talent.

Cant wait till Roman pulls plug or fate catches up with him

my take, its banter after all

Afellay - loan

Dempsey - £7m (only if cole or spearing + adam can be sold)

+ a striker if carroll is sold

Dries Martens, Kevin Gameiro, Daniel Sturridge are the sort of players we would be looking at.

the next players in will be from the sale of others.

The players that we made available for transfer are most likely.

the lowest we'd go is
Carroll - £17m
Cole - £2m
Adam - £6m
Spearing - £2.5

My take - Affellay to spurs!

Say what you like about loan signings but I feel a lot better about Sahin coming in to replace Lucas on Sunday than Spearing

Liverpool needs a striker who scores 20+ goals a season. Sturridge, ba or bent are not the answer. Liverpool will attempt to sign tello on deadline day for an inflated amount, if they fail, then higuain will be bid for at £20m.

Would love higuain but it's wishfull thinking really

Hey guy i know we are talking about losing maybe 15 mil on carrol but am i right in saying we got 26 mil profit from torres not a total loss in my eyes ??

Yes but in the end we sold Torres and we will end up with 15 mil and another striker who won't probably be good to even shine Torres shoes.

Hi ed this is my first txt to you . What do you think of our new owners ? I'm not sure I was happy at the start . I think we need a few top class players and then bring in youth for future. We will struggle to get in to top six and any one I talk to thinks the same. You are in the know so please tell me what you think {Ed001's Note - I think they are a vast improvement over Moores and H&G, no owner is ever going to be perfect. I think they certainly intend to win things with the club, they also intend to keep it's long term future secure. I would say we should be fairly happy with them, personally.}

From what ive heard they will sell when successful witch means after we've won many things they will sell. Im happy with that. I just wanna c us win things

if Carroll goes it will be for an undisclosed fee? In other words we wait 12 months and it will show in the accounts. So wait for the embarrasement.

Whilst yesterdays performance was full of promise. we did not win against a poor Man City. We need a striker will we get one?

The only embarrassment is that you find your comment post-worthy. Our club may not be the best right now, but it is above your level mate. you are an horrendous supporter.

I think we have to face the fact that the answer to that question is no, we won't.
