Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

28 Dec 2011 23:45:25
Well I know that people think that all I have done is recycled stories that the ED's have said and well thats technically true. But I will be the first to say this, Liverpool will be appealing to get Suarez's ban completley removed, but my source has suggested that it will become a 4 match ban at best. Lets play the waiting game and see what happens, considering Suarez has gotten 1 game banned from the Fulham Gesture already.

Also all that proves with me saying basically the same things as the ED's is that 1) i am just repaeting stories or 2) I actually have a source and his info matches the ED's info, after the appeal we will have an indication on what I 'm really doing.

The Inside Man

The Turdz back incognito

Is your source doing a refurb at Melwood?

dmedly :-)

Why are you so desperate for people to believe you?

Your tales dont ring true imo

I dont think we should criticise until after his claims are proved wrong. We would have Macca as an editor on this site now if it wasnt for people giving so much grief to people supplying information before its even proved wrong.

Hi Eds, just wondering is there any interest at all in Dimitar Berbatov? If we could get him for less 5-10mil i think he would be a great signing, exactly what we need right now. Thoughts?

{Ed001's Note - don't waste my time please.}

It was a geniune question, allthough the transfer is highly unlikely due to rivalry he would be a great short term solution. If your time is so precious why are you wasting it as an editor of a rumours website!!
{Ed001's Note - it was a ludicrous question. Why even ask when you know the answer?}

NO...because...

1. He plays for the bitter enemy
2. He cost them nearly 31 million quid...no way they would sell for peanuts
3. He's knocking on nearly 31...not FSG policy...poor value for money
4. He would command astronomical wages
5. He sulks
6. We are not interested. FULL STOP

After reading that I wasn't sure if it was April the first approaching instead of January the first!

any one noticed how kk is changing team for future i.e. carragher being phased out and kuyt . next will be maxi aurelio kk knew these were no good when he took over . less than a year in charge ngog jovanovic konchesky the greek . he cant do it all overnight but he will. just remember our song the reds are coming up the hills boys . major tom to ground control commencing countdown engines on. strap yourselves in boys . the train is leaving the station get on know .

alan waddle

KK is doing a great job and needs around 5 or 6 transfer windows to get the squad he really wants but fans expect to much to soon.

mighty reds

If we get 4th, this and 2 more windows is all he needs to get a title challenge on

Thats a very big IF tho'...as in I cant see it happening

Gav

If we dont get a CL spot come the end of season, I can see Kenny being moved on by the owners. John Henry is looking for CL I suspect if Kenny doesnt deliver it this season he will be asked to step aside.

Steve

I dont think they will move Kenny on. JWH is not stupid, he will lose the support of the fans if he does this. The only way that Kenny will leave is if he chooses too.

If he doesnt get Champs league football (which given our results against teams below us is fairly likely) then we will just have to wait another year for it.

Rewflo

Kenny does not need 5 to 6 windows to get what he want. By the aftermath of the summer window, he would have what he wants already.

BooDaBooze {Ed002's Note - Comolli said the squad was already complete.}

Yes Ed002 complete for what he believes the squad is capable of at the minute, qualifying for the Champions League. i agree with him, if everyone was firing on all cylinders we could be. To challenge for the title in the next couple of years would take a couple more world class players or give some youngsters who have the potential to be good players a chance.

N.I. RED {Ed002's Note - Right, and that opportunity will arise in the summer if the club can achieve Champions League qualification and raise the money for the buys.}

Owners said they wanted to win the title within 3 years. Consequently, if we do not even finish in the top four this season, no question Kenny's job will be on the line.

28 Dec 2011 21:37:23
ED'S AND REDS..I was wondering i know we like to " Keep the faith" and not be 2 Negative and get behind the players..BUT as we continue to stutter in front of goal and slip out of the race for 4th when do we start to think about cutting our losses and letting players go? We have bought players for a good re sale value but thier prices decrease as the weeks go by. Carroll, and downing on this form wouldn't be worth 30mil between them, never mind 50mil...surley we should start to be thinking about shaking things up in jan, without suarez where are the goals?
Dave

"slip out of the race for fourth" You do know that we are one win from the Champions League spots? All after having a so-so start to the season.

Martin

Jayus dave cheer up lad
k-h

3 points of a CL place, playing good, attractive football, best defence in the league, having funds available to sort out our only problem (scoring goals), probably getting good news about redevelopment or new Stadium, Stevie coming back for the buisness end of the season. Like Martin said we've had a so-so start to the season, but still only 3 points off a CL place. We've also got Spuds, Arsenal, Chelsea at Anfield in the 2nd half of the season.

When you read this, how can anyone still not be happy?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Cue Redturk...

dmedly

I predict 6th

Gav

Blair, if you bother to take another look, scoring goals is not our only problem. We currently have too many squad players in starting positions, Downing, Adam, Henderson are good as squad players to fill in, but week in week out starters well no IMO. We need 4 or 5 better players to mount a genuine top 4 challenge.

Steve

Scoring goals is most definitely our problem Steve. Blackburn have scored more goals than us and our Strikers only convert 6.8% of their shots into goals.

rewflo

I have heard of optimism but on current form and with our best player facing a 8 match ban. do people really think we are going to all of a sudden go on a 10 game winning streak..I would love to hear you every game..we are goin on a winning run starting with fulham..i mean wigan...er maybe blackburn...oh i meant to say newcastle...Be realistic...

Hey Guy's n Girls i was working at Melwood training ground today, when i signed in the visitors book i took a quick glance down the page and noticed a W. Palasios( i think thats how you spell it) had signed in this morning.

If you saw it written down you would know how it was spelt

Chris in Tamworth

Nice one Chris lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Don't be so stupid chris in tamworth, you do come out with garbage at times thinking that by giving a sly remark you think your clever...so what if it signed in like a signature? what if by the time the poster got hole our had time to post he/she couldn't remember how it was spelt??

My remark wasn't sly, in fact I thought it was fairly bold and forthright. As for your statement that I come out with garbage, I find it strange that you would direct that at me and not the original poster?

Chris on Tamworth

On a different matter, would people actually be happy if Wilson Palacios signed for us?

RedSG

Well if palacios was good, he'd still be at spurs....mid-table player at best.

God no.

Maybe Wilson Palacios can't spell Wilson Palacios.

Rigsby.

Hey next time u go to work at melwood, write L. Messi in the visitors book, how funny would that be

Good one Rigsby, who are we to know!

Who first used the "depeche mode" track for a football song. It seems ever since the Suarez song everyone is using it.

As quiet as it is lately...the kop choir continue to set football chant trends. The list is endless.

DaveyBootle

Celtic started it.

Martin

I'm afraid to say the kop hasn't set and trend with this one Wigan athletic have been singing it for ages and god knows how many other teams

Anyone watching the old firm game? Been really impressed with James Forrest. Think he would be great for us.

Kris the Red

Forrest is plum, pure and simple, no better than Hunt at Wolves and we would never look at him!!!

BREAKING NEWS! With Wolves set to appeal the red card picked up by Milijas after an excellent tackle on Arsenal midfielder Arteta, the FA have decided to charge Luis Suarez instead over the challenge. They are awaiting further advice from FA chief Alex Ferguson before deciding on the length of ban.

Assisted by a three man independant team consisting of Gary Neville, his brother Phillip and father Neville !!

Kris the Red

And dont forget the adjudicator....uncle Howard Webb

Tel 19498

...Suarez does deserve his bans tho' tbf so he needs to just do his time and learn to behave

Then Im sure he can be a great player, maybe even start to pick up more goals as well as create them

Evening eds, what's the "Torres and club doctor" stuff all about in lamens terms? I know it probably means nothing but I do like a bit of idle gossip to manipulate on a cold Wednesday evening.
Ultra red {Ed002's Note - There is nothing.}

I was told that the doc gave him what he thought was a horse placenta healing injection but it turned out to be a donkey and he's suing him as it worked?
Ultra red

If u pay £20m to £25m for torres then pay £30m for higuain is better option. can play 10 years top label torres is gone case forget it.

What are you on about?

Ultra Red - that made me laugh out loud!!

Genuine question, if anyone can help.

What does Damien Comolli actually do at the club? Director of football, what does that actually mean? Is he just a glorified scout or a main man?

cheers
davethebutcher

Basically recommends to Dalglish who he should sign , over looks the development of the youth side , sorts out contracts.

Tom.

Eds, genuine question. What does Damien Comolli actually do at the club? Is he responsible for the transfers or what? Director of football, what does that mean? Is he just a glorified scout or a main man?

Cheers
davethebutcher {Ed002's Note - He is the head of the scouting system and responsible for working as part of the management team on proposed player transfers.}

Cheers ed. I did think it was along those like. So would it be unfair to lay the blame soley at Kenny Dalgishs door for the(what some may call) poor signings?

For me the tactics have been spot on in almost every game this season, but some of the players just aren't performing to the level they could.

Don't get me wrong I am happy with the signings made and the team as a whole. I just thought it may give a different perspective to the anti-Dalglish lot.

davethebutcher

Kenny has the FINAL say. he'll get most but overall the club knows that carroll was a PANIC buy no matter how many times they say hes for the future. because if they are going to use that laim excuse then they might aswel have kept ngog who has scored 8 goals a season 2 in a row dispite having to come on with only 2 mins to play 75% of the time... and paid only 1.5m.

oh and thats with a far worse team than carroll has had the privilege to play with.

So far all sign by Kenny. as his british talent. but we have to accept the team going very much down under Hodson so its may take time to pick right player

How can you sign a striker for 35M when you have none and say the one you bought was for the future?

Just goive Carroll a break. He was injured, overweight and very obviously unfit. He's now healthy, sleeker and a hell of a lot fitter and it showed in the Blackburn game - if he'd have been match-sharp he'd have bagged two. There is an old saying - cometh the hour, cometh the man. Suarez's big ban period is Carroll's 'hour'. He'll now get proper starts and he will (in my opinion) improve with every one of them. I'm shocked at the (alleged) fans backlash at King Kenny. To me he done nothing but bring Liverpool FC back to the unified ways of the days of old. people throwing 100m around like it was a reliable number of KK spending. IMO the 41m spent on the Newcastle players was well spent. CA was value at 6m. Hendo was worth his fee. Stewie while overpriced by about 6-8M gives us flair and pace out wide that we were screaming out for and I feel he will come good.

Look at it this way. Each player is a cog in a machine. Some cogs are bigger than others. Our Goalie is as good as anyone's. Our back 4 is as good as anyone's. We have missed our big cog Stevie for the last 9 months. We have missed our other big cog Lucas for the last 4 games. Take away those two and while the machine will run without them, it is not going to be able to perform as it should. When all the components come together we will continue to improve.

We could have 22 games left this season. We may have as many as 27 left. I truely believe we will make CL qualification. I believe will will win one of the cups. Success breeds success and by adding silverware and being able to offer a chance of pulling on a jersey with the Liverbird on the front to go to battle with Stevie and Luis etc, will allow us to be able to attract great talent to our club.

The Thruff.

If only the game was all about cogs, but what about fly wheels?

Ed,
With regards to Lucas, Vidic, Afellay and in previous seasons Owen, Cole, a lot of players seem to suffer from the Cruciate these days....

Do you think it has do with them having blades in their shoes instead of studs?

LiverBird {Ed002's Note - There has been postulation about the "blades" causing more leg and knee injuries and someone did write a very good item on the problem - I don't recall who at this time. Certainly there were clubs who stopped players weearing them when they first appeared and I seem to recall an Irish side (perhaps St Patricks) banning them either last season or this.}

I actually looked into this whilst buying my last pair of boots. Due to the cross sectional area of the blades side, it prevents the boot sliding sideways through the mud. Also, if you check the centre of the sole, a single blade is at a right ankle to those along the side thus preventing the boot sliding forwards or backwards. Therefore, should an impact or twist occur to the leg, the foot is completely locked in place drastically improving the likelyhood of snapped bones, torn muscles, or damaged ligaments.

YNWA! (Adam)

Depends on the type of blades which are worn. Adidas do a range of Predator boots which Zidane, Beckham and a few German players use which have a circular pattern to the blades to allow for spinning and twisting movement while still allowing grip.

There's an article online somewhere which I cant seem to locate which states that there is only a small correlation (not causation) between amount of injurires sustained and type of boots worn. Same group in america also conducted a study related to warming up and down and found that the amount of injuries sustained is the same in test groups which warmed up and ones which didnt.

It is all research data though people must remember that.

I have seen a lot of teams on here for fri and not many choosing maxi in it. One thing we are missing is goals and surely maxi is probably the most prolific forward player at the moment. So i would choose maxi, bellamy and Carroll against newcastle.

Mighty reds

did put up a side that included maxi but the ed's aint put it up there... no shocks there, they got their knickers in a twist again. but imo you can play bellamy or maxi in a side, not both.. carroll and kuyt up top..kos {Ed002's Note - Nice little dig at the Editors there. Did you check the "Teams" page?}

Lol, kos got his knickers in a twist more like

Gav

28 Dec 2011 19:11:07
we have an average midfeild which is the problem, once gerrard and lucas are back and carroll starts more games, we wont see the problem we have now. we need a class midfielder in jan as lucas is out and we cant be sure with gerrards fitness.. spearing, henderson, adam are ok but they should never be paired together, we look mediocre

Harry Redknapp has told VDV and Bale that they can play where they want. Wenger tried that with Fabregas. He chose Barcelona.

Dirks Engine Room

Spurs won't do well for very long, Harry plays the same team every game, and now he only has the FA Cup to play the others in.

Same midfield of Bale, Modric, Parker, VDV and Lennon as well as Adebayor upfront. Spurs haven't changed it apart from Defoe moving in and out of the squad. VDV was a little upset at being moved to the right after Defoe broke in, but its a different story now. The fringe players will start to speak and they'll be a problem in the dressing room.

I don't expect the Spurs players to stay anyway, after the summer Harry will be off to England, Bale and Modric will probably move elsewhere, Adebayor will no longer be on loan.

Spurs arn't in it for the long run.

Renegadered

Spurs are looking good and will more than likely finish in the top three

Spurs will have their bad spell...as will City...but I suspect the boys from Salford may have had their turn and are in a great position.

DaveyBootle

So your saying that playing the same team cosistantly that is playing as good as anyone in the league is a bad thing?.I think you will find that spurs have brought squad players in when required because of injuries and have played well the only players to have had a moan about not playing are pav and defoe and to be honest if they went its no great loss. Also we have dawson,lennon and hudd to come back from injury and expect us to buy in jan so despite you hoping it all goes wrong we are here for the long haul. You guys should be more concerned with hoping stevie g stays fit and saurez stays happy in a country where everyone thiks he is a rascist .

Well said to the Spurs fan! I personally predict Spurs to finish top 4 and Liverpool to finish 5th at very best

Gav

@The Spurs fan.

Don't get me wrong, I think Spurs will finish Top 4 this season, I just don't think they'll constantly finish with a 4th place spot after this season, like United, Chelsea and Arsenal have over the past few years.

My team vs. Newcastle:

Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique

Henderson Spearing Adam

Downing Carroll Bellamy

Gerrard not fit to play long minutes yet. I suspect Kuyt may start, but I think his passing is too suspect these days. Would love to give Enrique a day off as he needs it, but no suitable back up. I think Spearing needs another go.

I think Shelvey should start this game.

Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique

Spearing Adam

Downing Shelvey Bellamy

Carroll

Downing and Bellamy can provide the crosses and Shelvey can go up and support Carroll, the position he played when he was on loan at B'pool.

RenegadeRed

Not the two brothers in together, i'd rather have spearing and shelvey

some ll say we are gonna miss suarez yes cos he gives d opponent a tough time but in terms of goals we dnt nid him cos he's too wasteful.we alwayz say big andy is sluggish but i'l alwayz put my money on him score wen d opportunity comes,take d game against west brom 4example suarez ll try to do a stupid trick bt big andy got d goal.
we knw d ref is bias against us but suarez is also stubborn and all dis problem wit d fa(ferguson association) is as result of kd nt cautioning suarez.i dnt tink kd talks 2suarez frankly cos he plays wit d ball as if he's on da training pitch,did u all c d miss against blackburn i was furious.
conclusion
kd should talk 2suarez frankly.he shld b clinical in front of goal and he shld stop his stupid tricks and complains
ed plz post diz
note:i knw and i bliv wit time big andy ll com gud and wit all diz fa problem suarez can leave anytime but big andy shows his lov 4d club even on da bench.

The only conclusion is for you to start writing english correctly. You numpty.

Absolute gibberish and tripe.

I think I understood a bit about the FA being biased against Liverpool. Grow up. No they are not. Will all you idiots out there stop believing and repeating this - its enough to give LFC fans a bad name. Stop being bitter.

liverpool never did replace meireles imo, he offers something different compared to hendo and adam. we were interested in benayoun in the summer, so are lfc looking at a player similar to those two in jan?

When gerrard's fully back we won't miss him.

Meireles couldn't play in a LFC midfield without a Lucas type CDM in the lineup. He's a nice player but I'd much rather develop hendo that get a little flair every third game.

The Thruff.

28 Dec 2011 17:16:25
One of the players, I hope Liverpool is looking at is Sergi Roberto from Barcelona. Yeah,I know Barca would want a buy back clause in his contract, but may be this guy is worth a bid. Lots of potential and wouldn't cost too much. Who knows, may be he can become a hit here and then wishes to stay here. What you think of him, guys. thanks alot, Eds. :)

Has anybody seen this Teo Gutierrez fellow play? His stats don't look terribly impressive- 26 y/o, scored only 4 goals in 17 games for Trabzonspor just last season. I assume there must be something to him if we're taking a look?

hi guys great website. before last season when hogdson was manager, there was talk that we could have got van der vart when he was at real Madrid. was that true?. Also is there a chance that Liverpool can get someone like dezeko from man city in the summer? Thank you. {Ed002's Note - VDV was touted to English sides at the £18M agreed with Bayern Munich and there was no interest. In desperation he was offered to Spurs for £8M and Daniel Levy said yes.}

Can we stop saying we are unlucky please. First of all it implies that we are desperate enough to rely on luck. The team that marched to Champs league success had some of the worst luck ever and managed to beat luck and bring home a trophy.

Can we also stop saying if it weren't for keepers having a blinder. An earlier poster posted a Robbie quote which said

"If you put the ball where the keeper cant reach it, then he cant play a blinder."

I remember watching an episode of Soccer AM when Robbie was on, when he laughed at the fact none of the staff could put the ball through that tiny hole in a cardboard cut out, Tim Lovejoy said "You think you can do it?"
Fowler very cockily replied "Yeah, no problem."
He then stepped up and banged it straight in there. When Lovejoy said it was a fluke he did it again without a problem. Can you imagine any of our current strikers doing this? I cant.

Its not luck that we are were we are, its not taking our chances. Hit the post again? Awww so un...no its not, if you keep hitting the post aim a little more inside. Hit the crossbar? Aim a little lower.

Rewflo

Like Soccer Am is a reflection of a game situation . It is fun to talk about the season , even the LFC website is having a laugh about it .

The team will come good with the right support meanwhile , we are still enjoying the season thus far .

Qwerty

Lol Rewflo - you should take your coaching badges because with advice like 'aim a little inside' or 'aim a little lower' you could go a long way.

JRG

Said it before , an extra 2 - hour training session each day , were the whole lot of players can practice shooting and finishing , they get paid enough money each week , its needed and will improve them, no more excuses , do the hard training required , to be the best you have to train better than any other team............lfc

Get a grip of youself. Have you ever played football. Yes Fowler was more clinical than anyone we have now but theres a difference between someone with all the time in the world to someone with under pressure, defenders and a keeper to beat and the ball moving. look at the saves where people say the keeper played a blinder. The keeper wouldnt make some of them saves 4 out of 5 times again. If players could do what you sayinthen every game would have about 20 goals

It's sounds that simple,but if it was that easy we would all be Robbie fowler wouldn't we.Kevin Keegan once said he was a better finisher the more experienced he became at liverpool.He use to snatch at chances and try smash the ball into the net.I see a lot of this at the moment with most our players.They are trying too hard,and just need to relax in front of the goal and pass the ball into the net,rather than trying to bust the net.

Nojay

Top 3 saves of the season so far been made against us, and most from keepers who have had howlers in other games.

you can't rely on luck and we ought to be beating them anyway, but don't moan at people pointing out the poor fortune there.

I wasnt saying I was a coaching genius. What I said might be very simple but it is also true.

I was simply stating that what Robbie said was true, if you shoot in places that the goal keeper cannot save it, then he cannot get man of the match. Lets be honest the goalies that have had MOM against us are not Casillas, Buffon, Lloris or Reina. They are sub standard at best.

Still think we are unlucky? Think about this then, put RVP, Fowler, Baggio, (Brazilian) Ronaldo, in our team for those games, you think the goal keeper wouldve got MOM?

Nope. We would have won.

We need to stop hiding behind luck, what kind of team are we were if we dont have luck on our side we dont win? So according some posters when we win it must be because we got lucky.

I prefer to think of it as when we win its because we are better, when we lose its because we werent. We can control that, we cant control luck.

Rewflo

Ed only caught tailend on radio,whats this latest council propoasal re Stanley Park and both clubs.IM against a groundshare!!=Mr.Whinge {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any developments in the matter.}

Ed just missed(b gger)report on Sky aswell.Something about both clubs retaining their identity with this proposal.Mr.Whinge {Ed002's Note - I can only assume that this is the plan to merge Liverpool and Everton in to one club, thereby avoiding the need for a ground share - as they will be a single club. Then there is the second phase of the plan for the new club (Everpool) to switch places with Rangers in the Scottish League, thereby overcoming (a) issues arising at the Old Firm games, and (b) concerns from the fans that the club and Luis Suarez are being persecuted by the FA.}

28 Dec 2011 16:24:18
I think we should sign Luuk De Jong, Moussa Sissoko and either Matt Jarvis or Nathan Dyer, the more crosses put in the box the more chances Andy Carroll will have to score, we've got to play to his strenghts if we want him to score.
Youth signings possibly;
Nathan Redmond of Birmingham, Conor Thomas of Coventry, Ryan Donnelly,and Nick Powell of Crewe.

Seriously? these signings will not improve our squad, I would only have De jong from all of the mentioned players.

Why don't we loan Luis Suarez out to some Italian or Spanish club for the rest of the season & take one of their top strikers in place of him. I take it this ban is only effective in anti Liverpool league - he would be allowed to play elsewhere. {Ed002's Note - If that were proposed then his ban would be made Europe wide by UEFA and probably world-wide by FIFA - attracting a lot of unwanted attention to the matter.}

Super bad idea.

Hi eds, you say a lot of players that wont be joining, but what players do you think could possibly sign?

Daniel Agger recently stated that Liverpool respect all teams equally. I'm afraid I don't agree and see this as a fundamental reason for our problems. Under Houllier it was rare to beat any of the top sides. Things improved under Rafa and are probably even better under Kenny. What has been consistent across the tenures of all 3 Managers is the failure to beat the more mediocre teams.

In my opinion, the reason is staring us in the face. When we play a top side it is noticable how we go for the throat right from the off. We close down quickly, press them high up the pitch, make sure we win all the 50-50's and this gets the crowd roaring.

When we play any of the mediocre sides, we start off slowly, pass the ball around slowly, as if we think its only a matter of time before we score. There is none of the urgency that we see against the top sides and the crowd is flat, waiting for something to happen. When we don't get the early goal, which is more usual than not, the so-called mediocre teams settle into the game and become more confident. As time runs out, we see the increase in tempo that should have been there from the start. By this time, even though we are having the usual frantic finish, the opposition keeper, confidence improved by being underworked for 80 minutes, usually pulls off spectacular saves.

Next time we play, look at the opposition and I can guarantee how we will start the game. Top side = all action high tempo. Mediocre side = slow complacent low tempo.

This failure to beat lesser sides is probably the biggest frustration to Liverpool supporters. Manchester United have won 12 titles in the last 20 years on the back of it by making sure they always beat the lesser teams. People say there are no easy games in the Premiership, I beg to differ; Man Utd knocked 5 past Wigan and Fulham in successive weeks. City have consistently battered teams this season. Most of them are poor and there for the taking - provided they aren't allowed to settle into the game, which is what Liverpool let them do.

If I've got one criticism of Kenny it is, please sort out the squabbles over free kicks and penalties. This is costing us points! There was a free kick against Blackburn on Saturday that was tailor made for Adam. Just as I feared, Suarez pulled rank and blasted it over the bar. I can only remember him taking one decent free kick since he arrived, against Utd when Kuyt banged in the rebound. Is KK scared to tell him to leave them alone? It certainly looks like it.

redmersey

Exactly. Well said. As a team, we should NEVER underestimate anyone and always go out to hammer the opponent. If we get a goal, go for more. If we go 4-nil up, go for more. Never sit back and keep pushing the opponent till the final whistle goes. We need to go out with the mentality of thrashing everyone in our path.

Well said. I agree with this point.

When Steven Gerrard is not in the team we can see that there are lots of people taking the free kicks.

As far as I am concerned, Adams should take all the free kicks and corners but the reason he doesnt is bcoz he shoots well and Kenny/Clarke probably want him stationed outside the penalty area....

My opinion is that Suarez should be told that he should stick to the box when a free kick is being taken......

Downing and Hendo used to take the free kicks in their previous clubs....We should stick to tht too in the absence of Stevie G....

LivrBird

Adam is horrible!
he cant take freekicks or corners. and he was bought for those qualities. disappointment.

for me bellamy, downing and henderson to take corners (gerrard should be in the box)

gerrard and bellamay and suarez to take free kicks.

I think we give teams too much respect. United give them virtually none and destroy these teams.

Would you rather:

Lose every game against top opposition and win the rest of the games against lower teams or would you rather win against the top teams and draw every other game

Top teams include: Man U, Man C, Everton, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal

Thanks, KickingBro

None of the above. I'd rather we win against every team.

BooDaBooze

Id rather win every game against the top teams. its obvious were not going to win the premiership this season, so taking the mic out of man'ure fans or any other team, would be a lot more fun than taking the mic out of the smaller teams.

Everton. ha

That's the problem with us Kicking mate. Not just at the moment but for the past few years. We need the balance of doing both. We do ok against the other big boys but struggle against the 'lesser' teams. Our away form used to be the problem, now it's our home form, especially against 'lesser' teams. But we our the ones to blame. People say that the opposition keepers play the games of there lives, when they come to Anfield (which is true). But being honest I think with some of the chances we have missed, the keeper shouldn't have even been giving the chance to make the saves. Hence the need to get a natural finisher in asap.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. Everton a big team Kickingbro? You havn't been smoking the Mary Jane again, have you? lol

If I am not wrong, Everton have 9 league titles which more than Chelsea and ManCity combined....

How are they not a big team then?

I would like a strong Everton team though...It will boost us as well....

LiverBird

Everton are not a big team Liverbird mate. Villa have 7 titles, Blackburn and Huddersfield both have 3, does this make them 'big' teams/clubs?

Everton are struggling to fill that shack (Goodison) on match days mate. They have good, bitter fans but only in Liverpool, the clubs Kickingbro mentioned have fans all over the world. Everton have fans in Liverpool but not many it seems, just ask the ticket officer at the shack (Goodison).

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

That's a little bit ungracious the peoples park is more than a shack!

I disagree....there is a strong correlation between success, economy and club following....

Everton have been steady and non progressive over the past 8-9 years since I have noticed them.....No success and then the economy is not in a good shape....Its bound to affect any club....

But having said that, there is an old saying "For you to be good and prosperous in the long term, your neighours should also be prosperous".....

Not that the metaphor fits exactly but I would prefer Everton to do well rather than Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham......

But having 9 titles does place them in the top 5, they may not be giants but they are definitely big....

LiverBird

You mean 'The not many peoples park' unnamed bluenose?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

They used to be a 'big' club Liverbird mate. Now they are a mediocre club, just like we used to be before Shanks walk into Anfield. City are a big club mate but not a giant (yet). I think Chelsea, City and Spurs have less titles, than Everton. But surely even you agree, they are bigger clubs?

We are all feeling the economic crisis mate, but it dosn't stop 40+k reds going to Anfield. Or 75k+ Mancs going to OT, 50k+ Geordies going to St James's, 40k+ Spuds going to WHL, etc, etc, etc.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

We can beat all of them its only spurs who has won the last 3 games in a row i think?

Ed's taken from another website can you clarify if you have heard any news on the following:

Rumours in my current abode of Barcelona state that there are negotiations already at an advanced stage between Espanyol & Liverpool.It seems that some Liverpool reps have been instrumental in the signing of AC Milan veteran Filippo Inzaghi joining the Estadi Cornella outfit.It appears Liverpool will have first option in the signing of any Espanyol starlet & that some of our own starlets could join them on loan & gain some first team experience.
QuantumRed {Ed002's Note - It makes no sense and I am guessing you have translated a web page and it has come up with garbage. Liverpool are not in the business of negotiating deals between Espanyol and AC Milan for a 38 year old player.}

28 Dec 2011 14:24:01
Would be interested to gauge opinion on this - We all hope and pray for that one big signing, but wouldn't it be nice to see one or two of the youngsters come through and be the next big thing!

The club has several players with the potential to be, dare I say, world class, but they need playing time to develop and prove it and, with regular 'big money' signings coming in, I cannot see it happening!

I think the fans need to be patient and lower their expectations and demands - The club IS moving forward, but lets do it the 'Liverpool' way, not the Chelsea / Man City way

I agree I think Stirling. Suso. Silva. Adorjan. Wisdom. Morgan and coady just to name a few I think should be given 5-10 min a game to see how they do but who can argue with kenny. He will know when the time is right. I think well sell 2-3 players but only buy 1-2 and fill the space that's left left with 1-2 youngsters.

They could get 10-15 mins when we are 3-0 up. At the moment this is not happening. KK will not risk newbies when the game is tight.

The games are tight againt swansea, norwich, wigan, qpr, blackburn etc thats a indication that A.) the players arent taking them seriously B.) the managers and coaches arent preparing them right, mentally and physically C.) we give them tooo much respect.!

kenny should be saying hey listen we are playing blackburn, we are liverpool, you are playing for your pride because this should be 3 points. end off. guarantee thats what mancini is telling the baby blues

Ed, now that Suarez is band for the Newcastle match, do you think Kenny might give Gerrard a start? A bit disappointed was looking forward to the match, I'm going with my brother and he's a Newcastle supporter, Liverpool better win! {Ed002's Note - Gerrard starting will be driven by him being fit enough to start and not tainted by Suarez not being available.}

I'd start gerrard then take him off later. we have more time to control the game.

i know why Carroll hasn't been scoring.......its because of a simple error in judgment by Kenny...........

As it is easy to see when Carroll has played every time there has been a lot of long balls from the wing and many times he hasn't been getting to them.At first i was saying silly things like the wingers think he is much taller than he is but then i remembered the only game that we didn't do that was when we beat man city 3-0. In that game he scored his best goal by far (the first one) and more to the point when he scored the second goal that cross was exquisite. And when he scored the goal against Everton the cross was excellent. So what Kenny should do is play us more central orientated because not all crosses are perfect. This will help Carroll as at Newcastle he didn't score many headers anyway and also someone else it will suit more is Steven Gerrard as when he was at his best the balls didn't nearly always to the wingers and he will get back to his best and if we do get a striker in Jan the best fit would probably be Soldado so him and Carroll can switch between matches

Please put this on banter
KopAHead

You might be on to something there, mate.

BooDaBooze

Have you watched Carrolls goal collection? I have (prior to his signing for us) about 70% of them were headers from a baron or enrique cross.

Hi EDs A belated happy Christmas, but hey wishing someone well is good at any time.
I would like to make it perfectly clear i'm not anybody special and the contents of this post is entirely made of my opinion. Firstly I am not convinced of any moves been mooted right now as decisions will be made when the club discover the length of Louis's ban, should he and his advisors(which will include L.F.C themselves) decide to appeal against the current ban of 8 games. There are two possible outcomes (obviously) the ban will be inceased to 12-15 games or decreased to 4-5 games. There is also the posiblity of another ban to be imposed on Louis for the finger gesture towards those delightful fulham prats. I feel the FA (withy it's strong M utd links have got it in foor our man. With that in mind It looks bad for him.

So clearly Liverpool FC have a dilema on their hands.
first of all, rying to cope without their star man for the duration of his ban,but trying to keep him sweet as he very well may feel, the Premier league is not for him.
I personally don't see any major signings in January. Lets be honest the Americans backed Kenny heavily in the last transfer window and they stated then. They ecpect at least a Champions league place come the end of the season. Liverpools position right now which is not great has been down to some poor display by certain individuals on the pitch and some poor decisions made by kenny on team selections and subsitutions. Kenny and Commoli made the decisions to buy who they bought in the summer and will have to sought it out in the future.Kennyand his team have got a big challenge ahead of themselves for the remainder of the season and i believe we will finish 4th. we are normally a lot stronger in the second half of the season and we can win the carling cup, which will give us the encouragement and confidence to do well for the run in.
This is Andy Caropls last chance to make a name for himself as well as help liverpool win a cup and qulalify for Europe. He will be given that chance and will not be sold in Jan. Kenny needs him in His Team and surely we want him to stay as he is a very good player and will come good soon enough.

Finally....there will be no major comings or goings in jan that you can be sure of.

All the best to everyone for 2012

The Red Fox. {Ed002's Note - The FA do not "have it in" for Suarez. He has a lenient one game ban for the gesture to the Fulham fans and I suspect the outcome of an appeal would not see the ban increased, but stay the same.}

He has had a touch with just the one game, mind. I'm hoping for a couple of games knocked off the original ban. But, as the ed said, his defence is still the ignorance plea.
What's the ultimate stage he could take this to ed, if his appeal was unsuccessful. Court of Arbitration for Sport ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Court of Arbitration is not for such purposes as deciding whether or not a 6 or 8 game ban is to be levied. I expect that he will appeal the sentence but not the decision of guilt. I think it will be very difficult for anyone to change the penalty and perhaps he should just get on with it.}

The penalty was very harsh ed. The FA had to be seen to be acting tough but, in doing so, maybe they've left a little room to reduce on appeal.
I think they'll knock a game or two off, though it's only a feeling.
The Real KB

What utter rubbish ed, the man's name has been sul,lied and he needs to take a stand. Accept the penalty? That's an admission of guilt, which he clearly HAS NOT made. Evra's original accusation has been torn apart, i.e. 10 times etc. Evra has a track record of being 'uinreliable' when giving evidence. This ban can be beaten. If the appeal is not successful it should be takne down a legal route for defamation of character. The FA is a disgrace.
Ulsterpool {Ed002's Note - You don't seem to understand that the "accusation" is completely irrelevant. There were two charges he was found guilty of, and he admitted his guilt in the use of a particular word. There is no defamation of character. All that will likely be appealed is the punishment.}

Ed02 you are wrong sorry, but ulsterpool has a good point {Ed002's Note - What good point? Are you stupid? Suarez faced two charges and was found to be guilty. On his own admission he used a word that he should not have. Any accusations originally made are completely irrelevant. How can you fail to understand the most simple of issues?}

Ed is right.

We can never escape the fact that he did use the word. In fact he admits it himself.

FA should do the following:

1. They should fine him for being ignorant abt the use of the word and reduce the ban to 4-5 matches.

2. They should make it absolutely clear in BOLD that he has not been banned because of his use of the words but instead bcoz of the ignorance he proclaims.

As far as the finger issue is concerned, he has pleaded guilty and will serve a one match suspension.....

I do believe tht Suarez has played a lot of football recently and we should take up the 4-5 match ban (if we get one) and give him some well deserved rest as we will need him during the final run-in.....

The FA
FA Statement: Liverpool FC/Suarez
Wednesday, 28 December, 2011
Statement from The FA regarding Liverpool FC/Suarez.

Liverpool Football Club have been fined £20,000 by The FA and warned as to their future conduct for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the league fixture at Fulham on 5 December 2011.

The club admitted the charge, which was in relation to the dismissal of Jay Spearing, but did not accept the standard £20,000 penalty for the offence. However, at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today [Wednesday 28 December] the fine was imposed.

Meanwhile, Liverpool player Luis Suarez will begin a one match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct in relation to the same game.

Suarez was also fined £20,000 and warned as to his future conduct following a gesture he made towards the Fulham fans at the end of the fixture.

Paul the red

I don't understand, why doesn't the FA (Fergerson Association) just ban Luis for life?

It's reasonably lenient most likely because he and the club admitted the charges.

That said, Wolves are appealing the Miljas red v Aresenal which is similar to Spearing's challenge which kicked off the whole incident-both players got the ball but made contact with the follow through.

On that basis, Mr angry McCarthy better forget it!

As for the Suarez 8 game ban, think I read that the club are waiting for the full report from the FA to be published before deciding on an appeal. What is taking the FA so long to make the document public?

Personally I think we may see the ban reduced.

Evs the Red

I agree, i think the ban will get dropped to six games on appeal when everything has calmed down. The eight game ban got the headlines and showed the f.a tough stance on the issue. All the best.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion but I think we need to be happy with the progress we are making, we've only lost 3 games this season and with more luck those draws would. E win's. Some signings have been more successful than others so far but give them time. We are in a Breyer place than 2 years ago when the club was in mayor turmoil, we'll soon get news on the stadium, the debt has been lifted from the club, we have a true legend in Kenny leading the team forward and building a team not just for the short term but for many years.

What some people need to remember we support Liverpool not just to be top of the table but because we are Liverpool football club

How many of you think that Shankly wouldve waited 20 years for a league title?

Yeah he might have said that quote but its easy to say it when you win all the time. When you draw with crap teams like blackburn every 2 weeks it gets a bit harder to say that quote.

28 Dec 2011 12:31:53

didn had the chance to write about but
I think the crowd at Anfield was a disgrace last game!!
Liverpool once won every game especially at anfield because we had 12 players on !
Anyone who says we cannt control the results are wrong we need the to get the winning card the 12 player the crowd the fans, singing and cheering. Anfield is scary for opponents because of that .
acording to reserch anfield is the loudest stadium Pl it sholed stay like this!
There's a reason why we are considered the best fans in the world lets stay like that!
Tom Red

While I agree that the crowd should cheer, the relationship between team and supporters is a symbiotic one. The team needs to do something worth cheering for, drawing with not just the worst blackburn team ever but possibly the worst team ever should be rewarded with no cheers. Unless you think that was a good result?

If you mean decibels tom then yes, although the top two noisiest fans are either spurs or stoke

I mean we need to support our team no matter what and even if we lose and it should be the difference between us and the fans of other teams
We should be better!
I think if we support properly it will be easier for them to show good results
Tom Red

Great when we get yet more poor results, dont qualify for even the europa league and struggle to hang on to any good player and ultimately end up in mid table obscurity every year, I'll be looking forward to seeing your unwavering suppport.

Before you think it cant happen...look at everton, Newcastle and Leeds. All had a fall from grace in the not to distant past.

As an example of having patience with young players and giving them time to settle in and gel take Gareth Bale. He had a torrid start to his Spuds career and look at him now. Ours too will come good. We are in a battle for fourth with Arsenal and Chelsea in my opinion and are within touching distance of both. Things will start to turn our way soon am convinced.

I just saw a short interview with Ian dowie on sky and he said pool have been really unfortunate not be much better of with points because most goalkeepers that have come to anfield have done exceptionally well.
I just thought I would type this to let the pessimistic ones of us know that even an independent person sees the same thing as most of us do and that is we are not having much luck at the moment.
He said all liverpool need is a tweek in the transfer market and KK has got everything else spot on.
So for the ones saying KK they have not got a CLUE about football so please support and be quiet unless it is valuable and knowledgeable criticism.

Yep its bang on right, look at the results at home dropped, swansea, norwich, blackburn, sunderland and utd, if it werent for the keepers than we would be 10 pts better off which would put us on 41 pts in 3rd and only 4 pts off utd n cty, so things are on the up we just need to start scoring a lot more to kill off games.

Not just the keepers, the woodwork as well. 17 times so far.
We will get there...................

Interesting to note Neymar's buy-out clause is 37 million from foreign sides

GuvTOB

Neymar is going to Barcelona mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - An interesting thought Blair?}

Yeah I know he isn't coming to us but when I hear about things like that it annoys about the whole carroll situation.

GuvTOB {Ed002's Note - The price for Neymar will be around the 60M euro mark if he moves anywhere anytime soon.}

It wasn't my thought Ed mate. Watched Revista La Liga last week and Balague said that Barca had paid Neymar/Santos 10 million, to join anytime before 2014. If he does not join before then, he has to refund Barcelona the 10 mill with an added 10 mill on top of that, for breach of contract.

Have you heard the same or something different, thanks.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - I would bet that he regrets that now, particularly after the press release from Barcelona, the press conference with Frexia, the statement from Cardoner and Ribeiro's statements.}

Then think how annoyed the Chelsea fans are Guv mate. They forked out 50 mill for Torres, which seems to be money wasted, which surprises me tbh. I thought that Torres would have been back to his best by now.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ed, could you please tell me what was said by Barcelona, in their press release. And what was also said from Santos?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - The Barcelona press release is short and categorically denied that any monies had been paid by the club to Santos and that there is no pre-contract agreement with Neymar. There is then a paragraph which explains that Neymar is an employee of another club and Barcelona would never "dispel the rights" of Santos. Santos' Luis Alvaro Ribeiro gave two slightly bizarre interviews, one stating that his signature would have to have been forged and talking about journalists needing to fill up column inches, and then he goes on to talk of Catalan artists - Miro, Dali et al. The second interview (given to AP) sees him explain that there had been no contact from Barcelona about any deal, no money changing hands and that he is very disappointed with Dani Alves who he says has been hounding Neymar with phone calls. He then went on to say he could never see Neymar at Anzhi where the players have to fly to their home games and that he sees Neymar as his son ... and on and on.}

What are the chances of signing Matt Jarvis from Wolves. He has pace and is determined. Could be the supply line we are missing?

Why is everyone talking about selling Carrol? He has scored more than Torres and younger, but yet some people want us to sign Torres.

Hi Ed

What is the news regarding loans for Wilson, Coates, Shelvey and also Sterling? {Ed001's Note - nothing right now, decisions will be taken based on transfer business in Jan.}

Coates will never be loaned out. Wilson can go out on loan but not Coates. Remember that Agger can fall apart anytime, so we need back up.

Great post again Bob!
Nice to see some common senses spoken for once. Personally, I am delighted with the progress the club and team have made in the last 12months or so. We haven't had the results our performances have deserved at times but we are 'work in progress' and still building a team to challenge. If someone had offered me at the start of the season, 3 points off 4th spot at Christmas, I'd have taken it - after all, I think we all were saying as long as we were in the mix at Christmas, we'd all be happy and that's exactly where we are.
Happy New Year Bob - I'll give you a wave from the Kop on Friday, I'll be the one in Red................

Yep our progress over one year is good. Our progress over 10 years is pretty poor, our progress over 20 years is abysmal and our progress over 30 is actually backwards.

Am i pissed or am i reading earlier posts saying kenny should walk! there are some idiots! fair enough carol hasnt hit form yet but it will come hes not got the pace but his game doesnt evolve around this its all about his strength and presence on the pitch!

I might be wrong but for me suarez is up there with the best at the moment, hes just got so much preasure on himk to score but with the big man back some preasure is taken off him!

why don't you scousers bid for berbatov... a proven premier league scorer... he's forth choice at united so who knows maybe you'd get a bid accepted..

From what I can gather over the years of listening to Ferguson, he hates Liverpool with a passion. (too much in my opinion.)

He wouldn't sell us a broken tap...

If this is utd. fan I am surprised you haven't picked this up from your teams manager.

I actually think Berbatov would fit Liverpool really well but he is lazy...

Man utd will not sale him to liverpool remember Heinz

Hate is a very strong word Alex ferguson is full of it towards our club. I wonder why he hates us so much. A man with that much hate in his heart is a sad thing to have

gee man

I'm the original poster - Hate is a strong word I agree and I mean it totally in footballing terms. I don't think Ferguson is nasty in terms of compassion for humanity and the people of Liverpool... He would not wish anything bad towards people! If Liverpool were relegated he'd break open the Champers I'm sure but so would we if it happened to Utd.

When it comes to football though, it would appear, that he will do anything to seek an advantage over Liverpool... and never sell to potentially help us. It's a known fact that he was desperate to beat Liverpool 18 titles and 5 champ leagues... But that's what makes him successful, he's driven by that goal. He hates the fact we have 2 more Euro cups over them!! :-) It's fact.

I'm keeping it in the context of football and not make it personal.

Berbanob - If he's not good enough
for man united he's certainly not good enough for Liverpool.
Kenny Dalglish.

We've played most teams off the park this year, positivity from everyone I think may help tip the balance and start seeing those attempts go in... maybe a bit of noise might put the opposition goalies off a bit!!!

When I've managed to get to Anfiled,(not every week as I'm not ticket holder), but we fans are guilty of being a bit quite when our team needs a lift in my opinion... I'm sure there's an adrenaline lift when the Kop starts to let rip and the rest join in!

Henderson - bashing needs to stop... he's an england under 21 and will be an england player of the future. Shown some promise over the season.

Adam - Over the season has been good value. Last two games have not been his best, probably too much Christmas chocolate! Every player has some poor games - get a grip.

Carroll - His style doesn't quite fit the Liverpool pass and move in my opinion, this is hitting his confidence. Watching him off the ball, he seems to be a bit lost somehow.

Lay off these boys and give them a chance!

Trying to get my head around all these negative comments from fans. Whilst the majority of such fans are over excited teens with the ability to voice their views thanks to technology, and as such i think they really should all call themselves Adrian Mole aged 13. However it is the posters who state that they have watched LFC for many a year that intrigue me.

I have to admit when i was younger i was prone to the odd comment made with little knowledge or experience, however as i have got older the ability to see the bigger picture has grown. And the good old knee jerk is a very rare occurrence in me.

So what makes these 'older', 'wiser' posters so critical, impulsive and lose their objectivity?Personally i think we're playing well in general, however a lot of fans are losing sight of our general play because we're missing so many chances time after time and frustrations are boiling over.

I have a 'new' armchair view to the games that kick off at 3pm. I tune into 434 and watch a silent picture of the Kop all game! I do. Strange to watch John Bradley and David Fairclough commentate but if you watch the fans' reaction, you can get a sense of the frustration that is clearly building up inside them. It's fascinating to watch.

Trying to explain to my son what the hell i'm doing is quite hard and although i can tell him who is attacking and roughly what's just happened, he just cannot fathom me out.

20 years in the wilderness is taking its toll on most. And i think many are seizing on any new dawn that appears on the horizon. Certainly we are guilty in this regard. And whilst we have had some with lots of promise, it has all too easily drifted away.

With any new dawn comes an optimism after the last 2 years, where it's been nothing short of a nightmare, the second coming of Dalglish, owners who have splashed the cash and talked the talk the wave of 'this is it...this time' has been enormous.

The problem with optimism is that it brings all sorts of issues should the club stray a little off the track that everyone has laid. Looking at the fans in the Kop end, by the end of the game i got the thought they could quite easily walk out in front of a bus, such is their utter frustrations.

Every pass that doesn't find its target, every cross that finds an opposition's head, any shot off target, on target it doesn't matter, if it doesn't hit the net it is received with howls of derision.

The fans are desperate and they are showing it in the ground and in the forums. It can, and does come across as being crap support. No doubt all everyone wants is the team to win and win in the style of Dalglish's side in the 80's.

We must remain patient. And if the team can improve then you as fans must improve as well. You have to rid yourself of this awful knee jerk reaction to either a result, a performance and a player.

When you are frustrated, don't post until a day after the game, as a speech spoken in anger will be a speech regretted and reflect.

Are we playing generally well? Yes. What are we doing right? What are we doing wrong? Look at the uneven list you've just compiled. Are we better than this time last year? 2009? Think about the game last year against Wolves at this time of the year. That was the lowest point I can ever remember.

The players are starting to get anxious and that's partly our fault, for building tension. Make no mistake about it, the players will be doing everything they can to change this as it is starting to damage our chances, however we are only 3 points away with 20 games to go from our target. Chelsea and Arsenal are dropping points and will continue to do so.

There's a long, long way to go. Let's just be patient and pull your hair, rather than open your gob....or at least just try it.

Bob the Red

Well said Bob, and thanks for all your great posts this year.

TIZER RED.

Well said bob the red,

i am not going to abuse my liverpool i always look for positives, My earliest memory of being a liverpool supporter goes back a long time i was born in 1974 and my earliest memory was when i was out playing as a child and someone had sprayed the score on a wall

Liverpool 1 Real madrid 0

1980-81 season i remember that day clear as a bell i was well pleased.Then as the years went buy you get to know the club more and more what its values are what the club is all about honest hard graft everyone working hard together, I manage to get over to a couple of games a season and have a bit of craic with the liverpool people you will find it hard to find anyone better.
My romance with this club is as strong as ever ive seen most of the success and most of the if you are second you are nothing seasons but the direction in which we are heading now and i dont question is greener pastures the basic principles from our succses was built has been put back,

pass and move look hungry run your arse of give the people something to be proud of and they will cheer you on

kenny dalglish and also steve clark are making this work its the best flowing football ive seen since the glory days and believe if we keep doing these simple things right the glory days will return

gee man

I agree with almost all of what you have said. Perhaps I can shed some light on why I (I cannot speak for everyone) am so frustrated.

It boils down to the fact that, for the first time in my living memory (I'm almost 30) we have had good owners who are most importantly, willing to spend. Since they came in, I had dreams of quality players coming in (not unrealistic ones such as Aguero) but realistic ones like Moussa Sissoko, Juan Mata, Keisuke Honda. All quality players. We then, to my utter amazement, went out and bought Andy Carroll - a player who had had half a good season in the EPL, Stuart Downing for £55 million!

It is the frustration of what we could have had that is the killer for me. When you spend not far off £80 million on attacking players and end up scoring the least amount of goals in the league, it is extremely disheartening, especially when you saw it coming a mile off and as much as I don't want to have to say "I told you so," I really did.

I hope this makes sense and I hope I am proved wrong.

Ash

I respect your post ash, But also would say its not our fault goalkeepers are having great games against us it would be more worrying if we wern't working them it will come good

I think that daglish needs to start giving chances to our youth players, eg: suso,sterling,morgan. And please call pacheco back. What do you think eds? {Ed002's Note - Pacheco is effectively gone. You may see a cameo from one or two younger players but players like Sterling are simply not ready for the EPL yet.}

Suso is ready I mean he is 19 and he is in UK almost 5 years. he should get chance at least 15 minute in a match

5 years? You mad, he's there at most 3 years but no denying your statement he does deserve a chance.. Maybe the Oldham game will see Morgan and Suso get a call to the bench..

Corkpoolred

If you watched any of the NextGen games you would have seen that although our youngsters show lots of promise, they are no where near ready for the EPL, Although I expect Coady to be the first to break through I cant see it happening before next season.

SW81

Forgot to add Coady to that list, sorry.

Corkpoolred

Suso is 19? Isn't he only 17 going on 18? But i agree, some of these youngsters should begin their exposure into the epl.

im still on the fence when it come's to carroll but i do think if he is dropped now he might never get his confidence back. He should start on friday and i do think one goal could be all he needs. I watched his newcastle goals on youtube and he looks the perfect striker, not just in the air but on the ground and running in behind aswell

Hi eds, i just read that wenger is going in for vargas, why can't we go in for him as well since neither we or they have cl football?
thankyou
hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - Arsenal are still in the Champions League, they have AC Milan in the next round if memory serves me correctly.}

Why is liverpool cannot convert the chances ??? liverpool vs wigan -a draw but man chest er blast 5 -0 against wigan. is liverpool's game predictable , all the opposition goalkeeper just knew where the ball going to come. they (goalkeepers) make world class saves !!!!

Fact that lesser teams sh!t there self when they go to old trafford, and basically give the game away

Lesser teams will have that fear factor at old trafford while at Afield the opposition managers will be saying "teams below us have got a result here, so can we"

We need to make Afield like a fortress again but that will take time. The fans also need to be the 12th man. We should use our voices to show our support to every single red man on the pitch. We need to do our job and then the players will do there job and Afield will become one of the most feared grounds in the country again.

TIZER RED.

Hi ed001 thanks for the prompt responses as always , but what I meant was we and arsenal now as the table stands are both out of cl so if vargas can think of going to arsenal whynot us? thanks
hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - ah right sorry. I guess the fact that they are still in it and they are ahead of us in the table helps.}

Dont forget chelsea drew with them we still have a great chance of finishing top 4 we are not guna catch the mancs and it wil be hard to catch spurs but all we can do is focus on our games and hope for the best.
dont forget that the league has never been
tougher than it is now.

28 Dec 2011 01:29:11
do you think if carroll starts against the toon ed he'll think hes got something to prove or abit intimidated? against playing against his old squad and not put in a full shift?

jayblair89 {Ed001's Note - something to prove, he would desperately love to score against them.}

He would love to shove it to ashley like ....i thought he put in a gd shift against blackburn and the poor lads carrying tht 35million price tag on his shoulders must not be good for the lad i was really excited when he made the switch and before his injury he was on course for the player of the season by far hes out of his comfort zone down here what do you think ed?

jayblair89 {Ed001's Note - he is still trying to adjust to our style of play, he has had to work hard to improve his fitness (which was nowhere near good enough when he arrived) and he is low on confidence. He is looking better now, hopefully his improvement will continue and he will begin to play more naturally without the pressure.}

But the important thing ed is to give him a start.If he is dropped to the bench again i am afraid we are not helping his confidence.

I now understand how we were called a 2 man team with torres and gerrard, we were punching above our weight. they got us the goals,they were players any other team would love to have. we still have gerrard who is coming back and i can see carroll banging in the goals. enrique, gerrard, suarez. in my opinion, great players right now, we need a few more. carroll, kelly, agger(injury prone), and lucas all have potential to be great players for us. other possible players to early to tell. (reina is a great player too, why werent we called a 3 man team?) would you agree ed or do you see things a bit different.?

Caroll can take nothing but positives out of the blackburn game and i witnessed a desire in his game that i haven't seen for some time, i think him starting games is better for his attitude, and lets face it, who wants a run out of 8-10 mins.
I think perhaps now is the time to give him that run of games and hope he can show us what he is capable of.

I think Andy will start against Newcastle. Kenny knows what he's doing and I agree that was a good shift from the big man in his last game.

Ed001 I think your right. Once Andy starts to play his natural game, without the pressure and improves in his weaknesses that's when the goals will start to roll in for him.

I can't even imagine what it would be like to move to a new city, a new club with a record breaking transfer fee over my shoulders. Think about it, he's a young man who's getting slated left, right and centre. Maybe if we showed him the love and respect we show Suarez, his confidence would come quicker.

He's still learning our way of football and the king must be seeing things on the training ground to give him the nod.

I can't understand all the fans on here mocking him, but I suppose its the same fans that mocked Lucas.

Kenny will turn Carrol in to a goal machine. He's must be working hard in training and I believe he will be a Liverpool legend in the future.

Well done big man, keep up the good work.

how many more years do you think gerrard can handle starting every game if he is injury free ed? is there a certain age for players of gerrards caliber to start being used as a squad player? {Ed001's Note - no way of knowing, it will come down to him. Every player is different.}

Downing always blindfolded whenever crossing the ball.

Does any body know how Liverpool are doing in the nextgen series. I just tried to search the net but all I found was lfc second in group and due to play spurs on 21st of this month but I can't find any results for that game. Also a question for ed. Do you know if we are scouting any youngsters from the comp some of the talent on display is fantastic especially from barca and sporting and some of them kids cant be far from first team action {Ed001's Note - there is an official NextGen site: http://www.nextgenseries.com/ probably the best place to follow the results, or the official Liverpool site. We are taking note of the opposition players, that is one of the reasons for entering.}

Why not? i reckon he'd be perfect for us! exactly what we need - pace and flair.

But could he do it on a cold and windy night at Stoke?

BJH YNWA.

Messi could probably do it in a hurricane in the himalayas :)

He could do it on mars with one leg tied behind his shoulder

Messi could only do it for one season and then he will get hacked down like all the other greats that come to this country, he'll get no time on the ball.......look at Suarez.

28 Dec 2011 00:09:32
Hi eds. Just wondered who from the reserves and academy you think could make an impact next season or towards the end of this one. Personally I like suso. Silva. Morgan and sterling but don't see them playing this year as the cups would be a good place to try them but we have a good chance of winning them if we keep playing a strong team. Sorry for the randomness of the post I would just like an expert opinion. {Ed001's Note - I agree with the four you mentioned, I also like Coady as a midfielder, obviously Jack Robinson as well and possibly Wisdom, he has a little something about him too. Also Adorjan has something about him, he certainly seemed to be a part of all the good things the reserves did last season.}

And pelosi should be playing in the reserves team. hes better than rafferty and roddan and who thinks that dunn should play a wayne rooney role, because he plays like him and he has powerful and accurate shooting with both feet oh and he looks like him kinda.
