Liverpool fans, i come in peace from South London to say somethings; firstly good win today, needed to get both the Mancs out of the cups, so also good work on Wednesday just gone although to be honest, your best attacking player in the first half was De Gea! Secondly, absolutely disgraceful if some Manchester DICKs**t has defaced any of the hillsborough memorial because they can't stand their team losing, any s**tHEAD who thinks that is acceptable should be shot as a form of natural selection. Thirdly, Carroll or Torres, who will score first? Both are having as much luck as the Eurozone at the moment but i'd want to see both of them start scoring again as a class player is always a class player and if one or two of the "so-called" Livepool or Chelsea fans who flame their respective banter pages to complain about players quality ought to just support s**tty as they probably do anyway. Fourthly, I can't blame you for treating Evra with the flack, he's a t**t and tried the same "Racecard" 3 years ago with Ivanovic and was found to be bulls**tting. I don't care about your opinion on the Terry/Ferdinand row and court case, I'm happy to say i supported Suarez in this, clearly a breakdown in the language barrier and ridiculous the FA felt the need to take such a harsh stature on "language used" and ban him for so long, fair play for not appealing it as the FA would deem this disrespectful and probably ban him for longer because of the style of the case. Fifthly, I for one would rather see the yids collapse and you get a top 4 spot as the CL is not the same without the prospect of Liverpool in a semi-final or quarter-final as the games are always such a cracking fixture so good luck for the rest of the season. Any replies to Chelsea Banter Page but if not, see you in February or March for another cracking game at the atmospheric masterpiece which is Anfield.
CFCFOREVER!

Fair play to you CFCFOREVER! no name Warrior!

Sorry for all my swearing by the way eds, just felt it was needed! CFCFOREVER!

Fair play CFCFOREVER. As for who will score first I honestly think both players are being asked to do something they've not been used to, Torres has to work hard for the team (he was always more an end product player with us, not so invovled in the build up) and Carroll has to do a lot more hold up play and quick passing. Hopefully Carroll will come good and well Torres, he can do alright (as long as its not aganst us!) ;).

AS for fourth I think it may be just beyond us now... not impossible but a big ask.

BYW with all this talk of Jose leaving RM just wondering if you think He may be coming back to you? And if you do, do you want him or would you rather keep faith in AVB getting it right? Just wondering.

JJ

Excellent post. i can honestly say that i agreed with everything you said with a fair mind and not in any way biased.
i, like most of my fellow scousers, will also agree that if its true, and these people did do what they did to the 96 memorial, it is not the people of manchester, or indeed the red half of manchester (however few ;)), who collectively are SPAM, it is ONLY the INDIVIDUAL(s)!

Peter

PLEASE please someone tell me no one did such things t o the 96 memorial omg please

Martin P

JJ, my ideal Scenario at Chelsea would be Hiddink as director of Football, The Special One as manager and Special One Mark II as his assistant.
CFCFOREVER!

Just got message that Jose Mourinho has decided to quit Real at the end of the season and return to the premier league. What team is big enough for him to want a return back, what team are in the hunt for a new manager???

Man City
United
Arsenal
Spurs.

Not us pal We got the King !

Mr Slonk The Red

Spurs might be if harry gets the england job but cant see him going there he could even end up back at chelsea depending on how they do this year and romans penchant for sacking managers and who knows say man city dont win the league would the mansur's be willing to give mankini another season with all the money he's spent really arent that ar**ed where he hoes as long as its not us with his negative football

City will have him.

It'll be Spam if anywhere

I think he's destined for man u fergie steps down jose takes over would make a lot of sense maybe fergie's planning on retiring at the end of the year would explain why he,s not making no signings to improve his decrepit team fergie wouldnt just come out and say it just so he keeps his team focused he's letting a lot of things slip these days that he wouldn't normally i hope im right would love to see the back of him an man u fans can watch jose's boring footballl its the least they deserve lol

With Cara asked to play in midfield today in front of some of our other midfielders do you guys think that Liverpool might start looking for a holding midfielder?

No Lucas will be back next season and he is amazing

28 Jan 2012 22:45:33
Great result and shows progress we are making - the team deserves a lot of praise tonight.

1.Thought AC had very good game, lot quicker in his lay off, stronger in hold up play and of course 2 assists (i'm counting just standing in front of a keeper lol).

2. Would AC give his right nut to have someone like Valencia in the side.

3. Welcome back Dirk .. last 2 games have been his best for 6 months.

4. Agger was fine but Skrtel immense .. our most improved player of season.

5. With all the talk of price tags I like our improving 35 million striker better than their 23 million keeper. Was De Gea the difference between the two sides.

6. Patrice who? I was fearing the worst but booing a player who is disliked at Anfield was not disgraceful or "hostile" as the media have reported. I forgot he was on the field until he let Dirk in for the winner.

7. Great to see Suarez celebrations at goals... a nice payback would be Luis inspiring us to 4th place and poss 2 trophies.

Now the hard work.. 3pts at Wolves... or we become the team that can perform against big teams but not the mid to low table.

YNWA

D 2308

Keeper cost 18mil get ur facts right

23m euros get your facts right

Carroll was 23m + add ons. {Ed002's Note - Carroll was a little over £35M.}

6. Yeah I think Evra forgot he was on the field when Dirk scored the winner too.

There was an incident today at the liv v mund game where a supporter being a racist to man u player, I was watching the game on aljazeera sport and the panel have pick up on it, I'm not sure if anyone seen that, I'm sure they will talk about it on the highlight tonight.
It was an older guy dancing like a monkey!!

abbs

If its right lets hope they find the person and ban him for life - there's no room in football, or life for it...

1st Class fool should hang his head.

Suffolkn'red

The guy had a Man U cap on
Conspiracy?

I seen this on a newspaper website, they say LFC and police are askin for anyone with info to pass it on

Carb {Ed002's Note - They have found the guy already.}

28 Jan 2012 22:22:13
Apparently there was a guy at the match today making monkey gestures. I know it is banter to evra but it's stupid and inappropriate. Why do people keep putting us in bad situations

How bad did that just sound what you said!!That's not really "just" banter is it. Are you living in the early 80s

It's ok for someone to do that for you. As long as it doesn't cause trouble for The Club! You want an 8day ban from the site for that!!!

28 Jan 2012 22:16:22
Starting to piss me off that we haven't signed anybody! The squad needs strengthening any we haven't made, at least, one signing. Deadline day isn't the same without the reds, YNWA!

Beat both Manchester teams, what more do we need? Signings are nice but if the club feel they can get by, then why not?

We need to beat the smaller teams.
Indian Buzzer

And what if we drop points against Wolves?

Then we r screwed. Bye bye top4, unless luis does sumthing special.

Hey eds

This whole cavani thing, have one you, don't last years prank/experiment again, to see how far it goes..as any sane fan knows we aint getting him, ha..so that lead me to the conclusion one of you may be upto mischief again, ha

Cheers

Ray

Can someone translate this post off Ray for me?

Puzzled

I believe Ray is asking if people have tried to make it seem as if we are getting Cavani to make papers and twitter seem stupid as we know that sometimes they take things on this site as the truth (I know, seems unlikely that they'd want to report that) and it allows us to laugh at them. I believe one of the eds, a celtic fan, told Rangers that they had a £20m war chest and they were ready to spend. It was printed in the newspaper and all Rangers fans got their hopes up. Needless to say it was a lie and now that half of Glasgow hates him.

28 Jan 2012 22:07:22
I reckon we definately need a PROVEN goalscorer before the end of the transfer window. Fair enough we played well against city and united but because they where such big matches are weaknesses warent obvious. I could honestly believe we are considering moving for cavani. For a few simple reasons. 1) Comolli and Daglish work off statistics will Cavani's statistics are quite impressive so that could well have caught there attention. 2) I am sure it would be appealing for Cavani to link up with Suarez and Coates, and im also sure Comolli has considering that might be the leverage he needs to steal a march on signing him! 3) Napoli arent playing great this season, so there is more of a chance of us getting into the champions league before Napoli. 4) And As Gerrard has said players always have a bit of banter with each other trying to get each other to sign for each others clubs, now from what i have seen, alot of pictures with Suarez on national duty Cavani seems to be in alot of them. So it would stand to reason to believe they are close friends so i see no reason why Suarez wouldnt have been whispering in his ear about Liverpool. Now call me a rumour starter if you wish but for the reasons stated above i cant see why not! Stranger hings have happened lol.

28 Jan 2012 22:04:02
Hi eds, if we win the carling cup what will the financial revenue from it be? and if we win the fa cup does that only give us automatic qualification to the europa league as well? thankyou
hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - Financial revenue, minimal. Winning the FA cup only gives a Europa place as well.}

28 Jan 2012 22:00:18
I don't care what anyone sais about Carroll that assist was worth 35mil on it's own!!!

Red grand.

Now dude I like Carroll and think he will come good the system LFC play vs Newcastle is quite different, and he is well young

But if you think that assist was worth 35mil you would put Man City in the red :P

Ska-oop

Good to see people finally backing Andy Carroll....and Andy Carroll finally responding to the support

Not to happy with the performance today, but absolutey over the moon, with the result. Didn't really get to grips with Uniteds midfield, in the 1st half. Stevie and Jamie didn't have, their best games but who did?

I thought Skrtel and Agger, played very well. Kelly was his usual too. But even Redturk has to admit, big Andy had a fine game? He was isolated at times, but I noticed today, he started to move onto the channels more and come deep. Hopefully he is starting to find his place and job, for our team/squad.

But the guy who should take the plaudits for todays reasult, is Kenny. He knew that we were terrible in the 1st half, and gave away too much possesion. So in the 2nd half, he dropped Stevie deeper to put more pressure, on their midfield. But it was Kenny's subs at crucial times in the game, that were absolutely on the money.

When Slur Alex changed his formation to a 4-4-2, so did Kenny. He brought on Adam and Kuyt, put Jordan in the centre and freshend up our midfield and got a hold of the ball. Then he brings on Bellers, again at the perfect time, knowing that Fergie had reverted to a 4-4-2, and we took advantage of this, playing Andy and Bellers together. It's simple, play the ball up to Carrol to flick on for Bellers or Kuyt. Just like Andy did at Bolton for Bellers goal, which some people forgot. 2 assists in 2 starts now for the big man, fingers crossed, this is just the start.

The people who gave Kenny a hard time after the Bolton match, kept saying 'We have the balls to say it'. Should also 'Have the balls to say' we were wrong and bang out of order, but I won't hold my breath. We our in the the Carling Cup Final and beat the other Mancs, in the FA Cup in the space of 4 days with probably inferior squads. Next time you feel the need to question Kenny's credentials and knowledge, just remember this week and think back, how it brought a massive smile, to your face and why you are proud to be an LFC supporter.

Kenny Dalglish 2-1 Slur Alex Ferguson.......MOTM, Kenny Dalglish.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Great post Blair. The only point I disagree with is there squad was inferior to ours. They had a lot of players injured today, but I suppose that having to play 2 matches in 4 days balanced it out a bit.
InTheKnow

We created more than them, they couldn't even break the defence to provide a decent chance. Agree Kenny deserves all the time in the world, people who said he should be sacked on Sunday should hang their heads in shame as we are not a club who start chopping heads after one bad result. Especially Kenny, for all he has given to this club, deserves he chance to bring us back to glory. I'd accept that we won't win the league in 3 years so long as we create an unstoppable team for the next 20. Its been a great week and I hope everyone remembers it next time a result doesn't go our way. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will Liverpool. Have faith and keep loyal as when your friends call you a glory hunter you can proudly admit to supporting us before we start our dominance again.

We looked tired in the 1st half InTheKnow mate and not pressing enough. That was my only concern. going into this game. We'd had a massive game just 4 days ago. But we equipped ourseleves better in the 2nd half. And deserved the win, no matter what Slur Alex says.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Great post

Dara D

Plan in the first half was to basically sit back and take it, it was only a lazy mistake that led to us conceding, but they really didn't threaten too much. It looked as though the plan was to get to 60mins without conceding then take it to them, luckily we had one on the board when they scored, but it all worked out.

Quite a bold plan, as much as i kept shouting, but a good one in the end.

The game today just showed how good Andy Carroll can be, his touch was terrific, so what if he didn't score. The point I am trying to make is that it would be stupid to sign a permanent first team striker, I think that it would only slow Andy's progress down. Maybe the strikers do need some cover but no one like Cavani. The summer is when we should really be looking to sign high wage, 'big name' signings. I do think that we need to sign a new right winger in this transfer window. Someone who has pace and a good crossing ability. Can you name anyone like this that Liverpool may be interested in? Great work with the site aswell!

28 Jan 2012 21:43:33
To all those who called for Kenny's head take a bow and hang your heads in shame. Never again question and attempt to criticise a man who's reaction after Wednesday's game demonstrated his unconditional emotional attachment to the club and who today illustrated his tactical savvy.

Ozone

The team played crap utd should have won they were better and we got lucky.

The team who scored more created more chances and had alot more shots on target were crap?

LOL bitter manc fan i seee

Just because they controlled posession in the centre of the park doesnt mean they were the better team.a good man utd team would of created chance after chance.cant remember many can you?

I think we will get spurs next round.....what does everyone(eds included) think was the best result, getting to carling cup final or knocking united out the F.A cup?

Square tomato

I'd say Chelsea

I would much rather Chelsea than spurs

Square tomato

I'd rather Spurs, looked poor against Watford and are too busy focusing on securing third, Harry will want to get out of the FA cup whereas Chelsea know it is their best chance for a trophy this year. I don't think we'll get Spurs or Chelsea next round, i have a hunch it will be away at Crawley.

I reckon liverpool v crawley town!
About time we had an easy cup tie.

To say Spurs wont be up for it due to their push for third is silly.

28 Jan 2012 21:42:32
Lol BBC news reports Man Utd are shocked to be knocked out of the cup by Liverpool.
You'd think they'd be getting used to being beaten by us by now. Not won at Anfield for 5 years and a 4-1 spanking amongst our recent victories at the theatre of queens!
Bless them.....at least old whisky nose was magnanimous in defeat..................er oh no he wasn't was he, that shouldn't come as a shock to anyone either.

28 Jan 2012 21:29:36
OK do the maths. We buy Tevez for £20m on £200k per week. Better chance of qualifying for CL, which will bring in about an extra £25m. We sell Tevez in the summer to the highest bidder for £30m. We make £5m(£30m less the initial £20m transfer and £5m wages), if we make CL we make £30m. Its a no-brainer

I like that DELL . I LIKE IT

Great idea, or better still we could send our bank details to a guy from Nigeria who has just won £20m on th lottery.

Redpath

By the way, instead of Tevez insert Cavani, Torres, llorent.....

The FA today award the FA Cup tie to Manchester after accepting Patrice Evra's claim that his team in fact scored 6 times. Despite 5 of the goals not being caught by any of the players, the crowd, or the TV cameras, the FA found Mr. Evra a very convincing witness. On other hand, 'we found Mr. Reina's testimony to be totally unreliable. He admitted conceding one goal but was unable to come up with any evidence at all of saving any of the other 5. Since, Mr. Reina could not prove he saved 5 goals, we concluded that they must have been scored'. The referee said that he didn't recall 6 goals being scored but couldn't be sure as he threw his notes away after the game.

Responding to comments that Mr. Evra had at very times after the game claimed his team had scored 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 goals, the panel found that Mr. Evra, not being a native speaker of English, had confused these numbers and thought they all meant 6.

LFC have been urged not to appeal by fair play campaigners saying that Man U won far and square and the team should not condone cheating.

Fantastic!

Brilliant and gave me a good laugh, thanks!

There is no way suarez is going anywhere anytime soon! Did you see his reactions when we scored and at the end of the game.

Never saw El Nino celebrate like that in the stands either. Luis really gets it!

That or he just really hates evra and united

will liverpool be fresh enough to face wolves. i see why kenny brought gerrard off. i dont think we should of recalled shelvy if he wont even get a chance to play wolves, we should have let him develop at blackpool

28 Jan 2012 20:47:59
Great week for the team, and absolutely delighted with the results but we really have to put these to one side and start trying to get back to winning ways in the league. It's getting that 4th that will unlock us getting better players that will have us challenging for the league. It's ace we are in contention for two cups but we all know what the big prize is and I think eyes have moved away from it.

We still need a striker and more pace, nothing has changed on that in my opinion. Great to see Kuyt come back into some form as he has been terrible to date and Carroll also, best shift he's put in worked hard, held the ball up and involved in both goals. Henderson too, he's a bit in and out but has talent.

Hey eds. I was in a great mood today until two things happened
(1) I heard of the fans who spat on the Hillsborough Memorial and I personally think they should be shot.
(2) I live in Dublin, Ireland and I was reading the newspaper (the irish times) and I am finally fed up with how the media portray liverpool. The passage stated that since liverpools immediate reaction after the suarez ban that "they have changed their stance completely and now encourage people to refrain from racist behavior" I think this is thoroughly unjust as it makes out that the club were encouraging racist behavior and I was wondering what the club can do about it? Thanks.

With reference to RTR's previous post,Stevie G was merely pointing out the fact that we drew with City as opposed to winning the game, pedantic i know but true.Stevie's a winner and a draw at home is not good enough,i believe this is why he appeared pissed with the interviewer. If he was pissed with being subbed this understandable considering how long he's been out.Irrespective, being taken off is always a pisser, have you ever played ??Brendan.

Brendan, please stop using my name.

Was at the game today...really enjoyed the banter between fans thought it was all pretty good humoured considering... I thought we won playing not that well which is a good sign of things to come in the league I hope... Tobiwan come on the boys

28 Jan 2012 20:29:57
liverpool will hopfully sign a striker now. But will want to save the big signings for the summer when they know witch compertition they will be in ie europen cup or eropa league, then they can attract the right sort of player and the right ones will want to come instead of spending lots of money on average players at inflated prices like they did last year eg carrol 35m and if they had waited till the summer they could have had Aguero insted. I know some cluless fans want them to sign lots of players and spend lots of money but that is not the answer, we are still beding players in from the summer and it will only upset what Kenny is doing we have some good young tallent so if we need to give people like Sterling,Coady,Suso ect a chance. YNWA {Ed002's Note - Aguero was never an option for Liverpool.}

He might have been if we never signed carrol tho

Going on rough estimates of wages, I would hazard a guess that Aguero is on about £5M more than Carroll a year. And i'd say that's minimum. No team other than Man City (perhaps Chelsea at a push, but I doubt it) could have afforded Aguero in the premiership.

Rugby Parker {Ed002's Note - Chelsea could not match his wages.}

Just got home and settled from today's game...
7 days and what a turn around, Wednesday we are going to Wembley and today we knock out the other half of Manchester.
Got to start by saying well done Andy Carroll, he gets his critics so give him praise when due,

I been reading through the posts and can see everyone is elated, this is us enjoying the finer times of the season, everyone is posting positive things about players and managers E.T.C.

So lets show this support week in week out, it is easy to be a fan when we are winning.

P.S
Carroll £35 million
Downing £18 Million
Henderson £16 Million
Watching David De Gea in goal... Priceless lol

If KK had never left LFC all those years ago then Man Utd and Ole whiskey nose would not have 19 titles to their name. That my friends is a FACT.

The Liver Bird

Spot on liver bird.

Ozone

I think they'd be lucky to get 3 in that time.

All those Fergie mind games would have been wasted on KK. He has a huge chip on his shoulder when it comes to Kenny. In their native Glasgow back then Kenny was known as a scottish footballing legend and back then Fergie was probably best known for erm..... being a union rep.

Ed001, who did you specifically watch today in the match?

Alex {Ed001's Note - today I didn't, I just enjoyed the match, well sort of, I was too nervous to do anything but chew on the badge on my shirt! I am going to watch the repeats on Liverpool TV over the next couple of days and pick a different player each time. I am quite looking forward to it for some reason, can't think why!}

Hi Eds, if we are to sign someone in this window do you think at this late stage we will have to stick with a very average english player in the Premier League.We don't want the same to happen on deadline day {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

28 Jan 2012 19:56:41
For all the teams still in the cups, you are welcome - we accept your thanks for knocking out both Manchester teams, no1 and 2 in the league... I know you may have been wondering who would be able to do it for you - so there you go, a nice pressie for you. Now you have to beat the MIGHTY LIVERPOOL.

I so hope we get Crawley at home in the next round.... :-)

There is only 1 team left in the mickey mouse cup besides Liverpool where are all the teams?

Ooops sorry, you are right - we're in the final for that one. Obviously referring to the FA Cup then clearly...

Another deluded Man Utd fan that will spend time now watching his team on Channel 5.

(Carling Cup) Mickey Mouse cup? Only teams that dont win it call it the Mickey Mouse Cup. I suppose the FA Cup is a Mickey Mouse cup aswell? Kenny Dalglish said at the start of the season he wanted a good run in the domestic cups and a 4th place finish, 4th place not very far away and now we're on form with Wolves, Spurs and United next on the agenda. Nothing is impossible

Rocky

Rather win the "Mickey Mouse cup" than nothing. Enjoy winning nothing this season, we'll be sure to tell you how success feels...

Hi eds did any of you see the interview with Steven Gerrard and Dirk kuyt on the bbc after the match the reporter said to Kuyt after beating both Manchester clubs this week how much confidence and then was interrupted by gerro who said we draw with city the reporter then said well you won you knocked them out gerro just looked at him rolled his eyes and shock his head and just eye balled him what was up with him so he got took off and we won the game it was a great bit of management by Kenny it doesn't feel good to be taking off at any level but if we score and win the game then he should of been smiling and thankful he'll be leading us out in the next round

RTRYNWA07

Gerrard was just Keeping it real

It was ITV and the reporter was Gabriel Clarke. I'd say it was less to do with Gerrard being annoyed with being taken off early and more about it being Gabriel Clarke.....who I can't imagine many players like being interviewed by.

Are you joking... Gerrard was happy about the result regardless of being taken off! Any player worth his salt never wants to came off, I love when you see Suarez have a little tantrum...

I agree with the second comment...

Think he was fine about being taken off he was all smiles and hugs at the final whistle, realised it was for the best

Lads not saying he wasn't happy it was just the reported looked like gerro wanted to bite his head off im well happy where in the next round and even happier gerro is back playing just never seen him react in an interview they way he did and your right it was itv not bbc

win can make everyone forget everything. but few error. give the ball away easy. lots of miss pass in our own half. this time we lucky but not every time.

abcd.

I think that was nerves and on the back of the game Wednesday night... The worked their socks off against Man City!

Have you seen the stats, Utd may have had more possession but we had

9 attempts on target to their 3
5 off target to their 6
5 corners to their 1

We defended well, except for Enrique's poor choice of not to clear when he had the opportunity.... we played Utd at their own game!

If we can carry on playing like this for the next few months then this team, for all its imperfections can go a very long way. Just as much as on the players or the manager, this depends on how we, the supporters (supporter being the operative word) get behind the team. Anfield was rocking against City and absolutely pulsating today, not only were the team up for it, they had the us, the 12th man totally behind them. And I don't just mean the people in the crowd, but everyone watching the TV or on some forum like this. A bit of unity goes a long way and I really think we can win two cups and get 4th now if we stick together. I know we can't like every player in the team and we all have our particular views on certain players who are doing less well than we expected, but some of the hatred against players in the red shirt has gone too far, does no good and may even be harmful (you never know who's reading).

Frank criticism after we play badly is valid, but there is a line called the Liverpool Way that too many are stepping over. I have been very critical of Adam and Downing this season but I have decided to shut up about them and let them show me what they can do by the end of the season. I am not trying to set myself up as some sort of shining example, but I just felt very strongly today that this club is so special, and over the years its fans have been so special, that at least until the end of the season it would be good to see Reds everywhere putting their differences aside and getting behind the team with that famous solidarity that is the envy of all the other plastic clubs in this country. And when you see KK celebrating with crowd, when you see what it means to him, or when you see the look of total joy on Suarez's face, I don't see how anyone can think otherwise.
-SH-

Totally agree SH.
Our support is vital. On the few occasions I have been able to go to Anfield this season, the support has been sporadic and at times we were put to shame by the away fans (Swansea for instance). It is no coincidence that when the supporters are behind the team AND the manager, then Liverpool perform better and pull out some great results.
We as supporters are as much part of this as the team.
Get behind the reds through good times and bad and the glory days could make a return.
Well done today lads, the spirit was there for all to see.
KJS

Good post. The new players have been bought, nothing can be done now, so let's support them, and wait until end of season to be harshly critical.

With respect to the fans - the problem is that if it is always up to the fans to lift the team, what does it say about the motivational abilities of the coaches or the commitment of the players? Many of our rivals do not generate any special atmosphere at many of their stadiums - especially the London clubs - but that has not stopped those clubs from winning numerous league titles.

Suarez looked hungry and thrilled at the team winning... nice to see some passion.

He was looking a bit jaded towards the end of his ban... he could come back and devastate teams - that's if he's got the strength of character to cope with all the boos!

I dont think theres anything wrong with his strength of character he was fine after the world cup when he was roundly criticised for the hand ball of the line against ghana and celebrating the penalty miss hopefully he'l let his football do the talking and shove the boos back down there throats
giblet

Of course he celebrated the penalty miss - so did his team-mates - so did the whole of Uruguay - so did all the Cardiff City players in the shoot-out against Crystal Palace - so have all the Liverpool players in all the shoot-outs (and there's been a lot) that they've have won. For some reason that I cannot understand Luis Suarez is a villain for doing something that every other footballer (and fans) has done throughout the years. By the way, there has been a lot of reference to the poor treatment from Liverpool fans towards evra - are the united fans going to be any different towards Luis Suarez - I don't thonk so! Also a great anagram for patrice evra is 'i c ever a prat".

...still think we need a couple of first teamers with pace.

Watching Utd today was like watching us in some many games this season...most of the possession and seeming to dominate and not get a result! (I honestly think we do it better though!) Having said that, Reina didn't have to put in a MOTM performance like keepers have so many times against us this season.

We should play that poorly all season - only kiddin'!

Eds,
Liverpool to buy Baines, Tevez and Wallcot (Lennon) this week. Or not? Does it really matter when we kicked out of the cups both Manchester clubs in just four days?? Seems like the squad is not that bad. Let's just celebrate the wins!!

Well done to carrol, hendo and downing. I still stick with my ''not worth 70million'' statement but more performances like today and i'll happily admit i was wrong. They played with passion and desire today and i couldnt ask for more than that. And then there's evra and de gea... Thanks for the goals idiots...

Ahoy - and lets all pat ourselves on the back tonight for being Red - todays result makes Monday more attractive knowing that the Mancs at work will have a whole lot of excuses to trot out in an effort to disguise the facts and the pain inflicted at "God's Acre" today.

However on to more important things - we all need to join forces and hope the jury see sense and send Harry Redknapp to prison for being one of the most diabolical human beings involved in football. Even the London based and very biased media continue to protray him as a loveable rogue, and not the accused money laundering crook that is being processed thru the legal system at present.

Everything that H & J Redknapp touch turns to failure. JR as the only ever present Central Midfielder in Liverpools Wilderness years, to Harry bankrupting West Ham, then moving on and bankrupting Portsmouth, and displaying the same alarming technique at Spurs, buy loads for big fees pay loads and worry about someone else paying the bills.

Timing of the trial is good as I am sick of him every transfer window hanging out of his car window, saying "It's not my position to comment on other teams players But ........"

Continuing the family tradition Jamie "The Crab" Redknapp has inherited his fathers business sense by single handedly taking Thomas Cook to the brink of bankruptcy only 6 months after mincing along the beach with no shirt on.

Excellent performance today, even if Sir Alco thinks his mob had 99.4% possession.

BOILED ONIONS

Whether he's found guilty or not, and I hope he is if only for the bulls**tting excuses, the Redknapp affair shows all that's wrong in football. These greedy b**st*rds are getting massive payments for selling and buying players. No wonder him and Allardyce were always moving players in and out - a nice little earner for both of them. Isn't buying and selling players part and parcel of the job? So why the offshore payments? This money that they are grabbing, don't forget, comes from the pockets of the hard pressed fan. People who can't afford to take their kids to the game because of ticket prices, which ultimately end up in the likes of Redknapp's pocket.

It's about time the whole thing was sorted out and NO manager should be paid for transferring players, as it encourages corruption.

redmersey

I personally dont care about H.Redknapp, but to have a dig at Jamie is a bit low, a very classy midfielder who but for being injury prone would have captained not only Liverpool but also his country.

Jamie is also a player that forgets that he played for Liverpool - who forgets that although injured and missing an entire season his team-mates allowed him (as Team Captain) to collect the UEFA Cup.

weve beat man utd man city arsenal and chelsea this year.are we really that far away.i dont think we are, we just need to find that winning mentality that man utd seem to find with an average team this year might i add. and i think we will be there abouts.few more astute signings and i think we can challenge.im conviced our summer signings will come good just need time.the futures bright the futures liverpool......

even if we dont become world beaters the greatest team in the world to me will always be liverpool...

come on lets be honest even when times are bad is there a greater football team than liverpool and there fans.....?

Asked what his message to Carroll was, Dalglish said: "Well done, Andy!

"He is good in the air but we've got to develop that, he's got to develop that to work within our framework. We've got to work with him and we'll be a lot more patient than a lot of other people will, and I'm sure we'll get our rewards in the end. And we're starting to bear fruits now."

dont think he will be sold which is a releif
and i dont hink cavan will be coming in
all we need is a third striker who can chip in with 5-10 goals every season DAVID TEXEIRA sounds good were sorted then

Racist gesture claims at Liverpool-Manchester Utd game investigated
Eds i cant belive this is making headlines on bbc liverpool fc cant be blamed for one person in the crowd.
Are the media trying to make little of our great club? {Ed002's Note - The media are simply reporting an incident and it is not them trying to persecute the club. And I agree, it is near impossible to hold a club responsible for the actions of their fans. As long as the club is making all reasonable attempts to retain order then no one will blame the club. The club will, I am sure, assist the police in identifying the person or people involved.}

After all the games we have dominated this season & finished up drawing...then we go beat the team we love to hate...
i thought we set up far too defensive with carragher as the roaming defensive midfielder...in this position i think its a waste of a midfield spot...thats why it looked like we had 10 v 11...when the subs came on we looked more of a threat & kuyt came up trumps (goaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalll!!)
kk is my one & only hero & when he joined my main delight apart from beaming when i see his press conferences was that we would maybe start taking the game to the opposition & not sitting, defending & then trying to get a breakaway goal or rely on a set piece(apart from a corner of course)& towards the end of last season & beginning of this it seemed we were doing just that...am i naive in wanting us to take the game to the two manchester clubs when we are at home?
I cant argue over the two results & i suppose thats the name of the game...but the romantic in me wants to see us piling forward...,no! im not kevin keegan btw

Matt

Kenny Dalglish is only 12 months into rebuilding the club .

Give him time and he will create the supreme attacking team - home & away .

Matt dont forget, Some of those players had put a great performance in against City, Carra was Just covering. Then Kennys master plan came to life when he made are substitutions, The rest is history....YNWA..

just average performance from carroll..
the point is...
liverpool played well after scholes gone..look at first half..we played 10 men because carroll not connected with midfielder..what he do?get ball and passing back to midfield or defender..carroll doesn't have passion..carroll just lucky to get assist..i respect his hardworking performance, but not enough to bring liverpool to succesful..main function striker is to score goal..if he doesnt..fail..liverpool need striker can score every game..dont expect midfield and defender come to score..because that cant be occur every time...look like barcelona and real madrid..who lfc fan not want lfc become succesful like barca and madrid now..the striker score goal every game and midfield and defender just goal just addition....please lfc..i love this club and i wont change...

You sir are a nincompoop!
Carrol did well today, just remember we might not of won if it wasn't for him and then you'd be slagginh the whole team.
If you want a fancy striker with a sparkly foreign name then go support city or united and leave us to get behind the team.
Just remember who's still in both cups though! (thanks to andy carrol)

Long time reader first time poster
I live 5 mins from anfield and have been a red for 36
Years as far as i can see our great club is in a great
Position.our youth and reserve teams are full with
With some of the best young players i have seen
In a long time the likes of
WISDOM
STERLING
COADY
MORGAN
AMOO
I think big andre wisdom will be our captain one day
He is a beast of a player.
I think the commercial team are doing a great job
Behind the scenes.
I think the new kit deal with warrior was a good
Move for the club. we are LIVERPOOL FC one of
The largest brands on the planet and we should be
Paid the same respect and money as them lot
Down the 62
Also when raffa first took charge as manager
The first thing he done was move carragher from
Full back to center back and the rest is history
He has been and still is one of the best in the world
When i see kelly i think we have the same situation
kelly would be a great right back. but he would be
A world class centre back. its like we have been
Given a new carragher but with pace
And the player we should be doing everything in
Our power to sign is de luuk de jong this kid reminds
Me of a young marco van basten
And if we all give andy carrol our support.i think
We could have a great number 9 on our hands
He is still just a young lad lets not forget

Let it not be your last post mate YNWA

To all you people who say suarez is wanting to leave to play CL football you can all put it to bed now simply down to the expression and passion his celebrations was today when we scored it shows how much he already loves the club and he has said before its an honour so yh no real madrid bid is coming in for him as real want cavani ! therefore we wont be getting him and if we are to get anyone it should be a winger/striker who isnt priced at 30million

LFCHero :)!

Hello Eds,
I don't know why people keep kicking some players out of the club. Carroll has not been the best in recent months but we have to remember that he is only 23, Jordan is 22! Give them some time. I don't think that this club needs a lot of players. Goalie and the back look very good, midfield is great and very strong. We really need one more striker, maybe a fast winger. That's it. Remember that it is still possiible that this year Liverpool will win the FA Cup, Carling Cup and get the 4th place!!A lot of very good work has been done with the squad and finances. YNWA!
greetings

Jordan is only 21

Where are you Redturk, nothing to say.lol. well done Pool great result. well done Carroll hope you push on now mate knew you had it in you. j.canada

Great result today j but if your getting elated with Carroll over a performance like that then your easily pleased. Apart from the assist and a bit of samba in the penalty area at set pieces, he was his usual pedestrian self.

Ozone

Ozone obviously not just him if you go on the lfc web site and look at the man of the match voting you will see andy carroll is leading it so he must have done slightly more than your suggesting or at the last check 36% of lfc fans that have voted for him are also easily pleased why cant you be happy that he's showing signs of improvement is it because if he comes good your going to have to eat humble pie or change your sign off name so you dont have to face it either way watch the match again i think ul find he did more than your suggesting

If people are starting to think that andy carrol is any good , we have problems i thought our fans knew what a good player is and sadly andy is not , i will support him cos he is one of us , but the writing is on the wall , he is not what we need .red mick tag

Lfc are trying to off load him.

Liverpool Vs. Man United review

Reina - Did what he had to do when called upon (which wasn't very often to be fair). Nothing he could do about the goal.

Enrique - Was caught in possession instead of clearing his line for the goal - improved defensively in the 2nd half and looked infinitely more comfortable playing as Left-back in a 4-4-2 rather than a wing-back in a 3-5-2.

Skrtel - Very solid, dealt with everything in the air and made a number of good tackles/interceptions during the game (most notably when Wellbeck had knocked the ball past Reina).

Agger - Was class from the first whistle to last. Got a goal, distributed the ball well, defended excellently which seemed to disrupt United's attacking intent before they were near to the goal. Man of the Match in my opinion.

Carragher - Was playing as a defensive midfielder for a lot of the game, looked tired when he came off. Was solid if unspectacular.

Kelly - Done well on the right, kept that side of the pitch quiet and although didn't show much attacking intent did his job well. Occasionally iffy in relation to his touch and distribution but overall a good game.

Maxi - Had a couple of moments but ultimately made little impact on the game, went missing for long periods, was very slow to the ball and just not good enough.

Gerrard - Played in a fairly deep lying midfield position but kept play ticking over nicely. Was a cool headed influence in both offense and defense and didn't do much wrong.

Henderson - Always looks a better player in the middle of the park but didn't stamp his authority on the game for long periods. Distribution wasn't brilliant and was seemed lacking in idea's. Done his defensive duties well.

Downing - Another very poor game from him. Cut inside a lot but held onto the ball too much. Crossing was suspect, seems incapable of playing an incisive through ball and struggles to beat his man. Must do better in future.

Carroll - I've been a big critic of Carroll but hats off to the lad today. Worked tirelessly, used his strength, held the ball up well, was important in unsettling De Gea for the 1st goal and instrumental with his knock-on for the 2nd. If it wasn't for Aggers performance he would have been man of the match. Very unlucky not to score Liverpools 3rd late on.

Adam - Put himself around but didn't really offer anything to the team. Lack of a clinical ball seemed very obvious, did nothing out of the ordinary really.

Kuyt - Worked tirelessly (as he always does) an was a constant thorn in United's side. Scored the winner though this was undoubtedly helped by some questionable goalkeeping. Should've scored a 2nd when Carroll rattled the bar but a good performance off the bench - made an impact.

Bellamy - Only got 20 minutes but ran about tirelessly as usual. Didn't have a lot in terms of a clear cut chance of effort on goal but his work rate and commitment was solid.

Dalglish - I was sceptical when I saw we would be playing 5 defenders at home again. The tactic didn't really pay off as Kelly and Enrique didn't seem quite sure of there role. Much more successful when we reverted to a classic 4-4-2 formation in the latter stages of the game. Encouragingly Kenny made key substitutions at the right time, all of which impacted the game in a positive way for Liverpool.

The effort and desire shown by the majority of the players was first rate and Kenny can take a lot of credit for that. He was right to come out and criticise the team after the Bolton performance - the team has responded in the perfect fashion, we can only hope this attitude and effort continues.

Conclusions - The teams performance was very good. There was a lot of heart and desire in today's performance and I don't think anybody (except Ferguson) could begrudge Liverpool the result they achieved. Carroll's performance was the most pleasing and, as a staunch critic of his, give him the highest of praise. He still might not have scored but if he shows that level of commitment and desire for the rest of the season then he will win over many fans and there will be few complaints.

We still look a striker short though so will be interested to see if we bring anybody in (Luuk De Jong seems most likely if my source is to be believed). Downing and maxi were both poor and it seems clear that we are crying out for some quality wide men. I don't expect anybody to be brought in now but I think it is essential that we strengthen this position in the summer. Creatively we seem a little flat at times as well - this is another area of the team that will hopefully be addressed sooner rather than later.

SMc

A bit harsh on Downing and Adam, and a bit too much praise for Kuyt and Bellamy. Otherwise, I pretty much agree with you.
Rigsby.

Bid Andy caused chaos in the utd defence. Thought this was his best game in ages and hope this is a springboard to better things. Enrique had one of his poorer games for the club but after the season he has had he gets a free pass. Gerrard I thought was terrific, a real source of energy and drive in the midfield.. Downing was his usual insipid self, once again offering next to nothing. Downing plays like he does not give a stuff, just not good enough. Agger - Superb and commited.

The Liver Bird

You forgot to assess the manutd players
Dgea was awful in goal, Welbeck hardly touched the ball upfront and the rest in between these 2 just ran around mostly sideways to no effect ;)
kidmillions

Downing was poor? totally disagree? thought he worked tirelessly? Don't you like him?
Don't think one single player on the pitch put in what you would call a classy performance. It was just a quite scrappy affair and just really glad we came out winners as a Team!
kidmillions

Thanks for your thoughts mr ferguson. We won today, thats all that matters. Players were tired, but done what was asked of them. Fifa is calling .........

Hated the Downing signing at the time and hate it even more now,.although I would love to be proved wrong between now and the end of the season. For 16-20 million I would prefer a player who contributes. He has 0 assists and 1 goal in over half a season and that goal was the fifth in an already won game against Oldham! He is 28 so not a deveeloping player either. Bellamy, Gerrard, Agger are examples of what playing for LFC should be about ,production and passion. In my opinion Downing provides neither. I hope that in the summer FSG will provide the funds to bring in a wide player who can play with urgency and is willing to take on defenders and provide the service that our strikers need. Downing has not delivered on what he was signed for and his body language stinks of someone going through the motions.

The effort that Carroll put in today was outstanding. The header to Kuyt who went on to score was excellent. He just needs to get his goal tally up a bit and he will be looking more like the striker he was at Newcastle. Well played Andy!

Cheers, Conor.

Eds, i have a couple of questions.

Today Kenny decided to play Kelly at right back rather than Glen Johnson. Yet again Kelly proved to be a solid performer.

I keep hearing about a clause in Johnson's contract that states that if he is fit for a league game he has to be played, and he has to play right back unless he agrees to it e.g. playing LB for a period last season.

My questions are:

1. is this true?
2. what are the consequences if they don't play Johnson?

1. I don't know.
2. We win.

7)Manchester City
8)Man United

suarez has already missed 8 games of his ban does that mean he is available for the wolves game on tuesday? {Ed002's Note - No. The Newcastle game was for a separate matter. Just accept he will not be available for selection until the Spurs game.}

He missed Newcastle game because of his v-sign gesture at the Fulham fans. Any proper fan would of known that.

Yeah, but he's the only player who has been banned for it.

6 of those game we never lost could have been much better but overall without suarez a job well done
gottah say andy was superb today

"I'm pleased with my players. They performed very well, dominated the game and played good football.

"They didn't deserve to be beaten at all. We maybe should have won the game - we were the better team."

It's sad when senility strikes.

Well they did really!! but a wins a win

HaHa a bitter old man. Well done guys you made my day beating those cheating gits. I almost forgive you for beating us from a city fan.
PS Liverpool for cup double get your money on it.
BLUE MOON.

I dont think united deserved to win ??Why, just because they had more possession in midfield ? They only had 2 or 3 efforts on goal compared with our 9. Possession means nothing, goals win games....and we scored more...end of.

Kenny outmanoeuvred old whiskey nose and as a result we won an FA Cup game, no analysis required really.

How many times last season did united win games in the last 5 minutes.....80% of games I'd guess !

These are good times for LFC, lets take what we get, including the credit for beating both Man City and Man Utd... and lets enjoy it.

Tel 1949

No they didn't pal, They had more possesion but nothing more and guess what we scored more goals and won the game FACT ! Fergie is and always has been a bad loser just like them tit fans from old toilet.

Weve proven that possession is nothing sometimes. the Man city game in the league for example. we had all of the ball but Man city were deserved 3 nil winners.

I think we should all recognise how effective Andy was today and give him credit where it is due. I was never one to insult him, but definitely one who thought that we played more attractive football, and were more fruitful in our play without him starting. However I don't think this was or is Andy's fault entirely.
I much prefered to see us start two quicker, more mobile forwards such as Suarez and Bellamy who can work the channels and come deep to receive the ball, dragging the opposing centre half out of position and creating space in behind. We also benefit greatly in my opinion from defending from the front, so to speak, and especially on Wednesday Craig's closing down of Savic in particular caused havoc and City we unable to build possession from the back. Andy doesn't give us that, but being asked to play up top by himself leaves him incredibly isolated and in the first half today I recall him knocking on 3 or 4 headers into good positions high up the pitch, just for there to be no willing midfield runners.
However, when Kuyt and Bellamy came on Andy had two players willing to make those runs to knock the ball on for and was incredibly effective in doing this, especially so for the winner.
I think if Andy is given the delivery and support he can become extremely effective for us and deserves our respect and support at the very least.

Eds,
when is Suarez returning? {Ed002's Note - He will be available for selection for the Spurs game.}

Great win. Carrol best game this season in red shirt. He needs to b e more consistent from now; he has not done it so far but we will all give him another chance after that performance today. It is up to you Andy work hard, improve and have a great carear at the best club in the world.

Regarding Kuyt great goal and great attitude to come on as sub and perform like that. I hope they don't sell Kuyt and he stays at Liverpool for next 3-5 years because he is credit to red shirt.

What a win today for the mighty red men! Was an all round good performance from the team and I throught Carroll played very well, his movement and effort was brilliant. He look a totally different player today! Could this be the start of him hitting form? Im also glad to here that there wasn't any racist chatting going on!

We have knocked out the blue and red side of Manchester out the cups! A new signing or 2 would make it the perfect week!

Hi Eds
All this talk of Carroll on his way....personally I thought he did well today against the Spam. Held ball up well and knock ons were pretty good. He needs players around him and Dalglish was too defensive (again) in the first half better after substitutions. He's 22 give the lad a break....Henderson not exactly setting the place alight but looks much better in the middle. Charlie Adam helped too! Come on you Mighty Reds

28 Jan 2012 17:04:40
Any other manchester team out there we can play? Beaten 2of them in a week. Hehehe...

There is and they Bolton beat us last week though, but as Meatloaf says 2 out of 3 ain't bad

28 Jan 2012 17:00:27
Hope we get Bolton at Anfield in the next round or even the draw originally reserved for the mancs? lol at home to Crawley;-)

Any news from the LFC camp/your key player conatct re any transfer dealings? Will it be a big name for a big price?

Think it was 4 mins gone today Ed's before the first player was Slagged off to the hills. Now That's what I call progress it was 2 mins on Wednesday!!!! At least Carroll can have a look at the site and not want to top himself tonight!!!

28 Jan 2012 16:53:12
Great result today. Hope same attitude and workrate is maintained against Wolves and hope that players don't think they have done it all now or we could be back to square one again. Thought Martin Kelly had a great game too.

Thought Kelly slacked a bit today to be fully honest. Was happy seeing Carra have a good 60 odd minutes!

28 Jan 2012 16:49:08
Obviously I am enjoying the win, but let us remember we have a very, if not more important than the last two games, game against Wolves next. Cup runs are nice, yet the most important thing is getting that 4th spot in the league. However, the confidence of the squad must be sky high now, and as I mentioned last week, maybe that performance against Bolton was needed- all teams need a good kick up the backside every now and then.

Anyway, great win today, and let's hope we can back these wins up with positive results in the league.

The manager is the worst thing in the world. 7th in the league, and if we get knocked out of the Carling Cup by City and out of the FA Cups, I think it's time for Dalglish to go. He's past it and while he might have been a legend, we need a proper manager like Mourinho or Hiddink. Kenny, you don't know what you're doing. Oh wait.... we won both games? The King is back and we can win both these cups and get at least 4th in the league. My allegiance switches on and off like Agger's eyesight in a sunny Anny Road.

To all the nobs who have posted things like this since the Bolton debacle, hang your heads in shame! Through the wind and rain, you fu*king blerts or not at all!

28 Jan 2012 16:31:15
Say 35m for Aguero instead of Carroll, yes ridiculous wages I know but we would prob be top of the league.... Just a thought. lol

Chuck Norris

Shut up, its in the past forget about this s**t.

He might of got a few more goals than him, but I don't think Aguero has set the league alight like Suarez did. Given time I believe Carroll will score more goals but really at 22 he's very young for a target man. Crouch wasn't that great when he was young and neither was Drogba. We know what he is capable of and I believe today is only a fraction of what he's capable of.

Shut it u little tart. It was a reply to a post earlier and a bit of banter. Ed's been posting my replies as original posts all day...

do let us know? thanks (ali) {Ed001's Note - no idea sorry, I was busy watching the football, I didn't take any notice of random people in the crowd just because they were sat next to a footballer. I can remember being sat next to Macca, years back, when he was out injured, I wonder if anyone watching on TV back home was wondering if I was the next signing back then? ;o)}

Don't know who it was but definitely wasn't Texeira, and it wasn't Lodeiro either. -SH-

i like adam, hes like a left foot gerrard. once his fitness is sharp and he keeps putting in performances. only bad thing about him. his tackling is poor but atleast he trys to get back.

I know i was really panicking when i realised that adam was replacing carra and he was going to be playing the dm role but full credit to him he did well there he just makes me nervous when he's tackling in and around the box just ecstatic with the result been a fantastic week

Great result today, it's always great to beat the mancs.
Didn't think it worked in the 1st half though.
But the main thing is we won, Carroll played 90mins and it was one of his better contributions especially in the last 15 mins. So we move on with more belief in everyone. Great substitutions by Kenny took 2 legends off, which will pay off in the future. He's The Boss and makes the decisions and no player will react badly or argue; Which is great for us. Also Just loved Luis Suarez reaction to our Goals.

There are countless reasons why I detest and have such a huge lack of respect for Man Utd. Right up there is Ferguson's completely ungracious post-match comments for every match they are involved in. Once again he has painted a picture of his team having 99% possession and 4000 shots on target. Knob...
Apparently he still thinks they are a good team...

Even roy keane disagreed with him yea they had quite a bit of possession after we scored the first because we sat back but even roy keane said what did they do with it reina didnt have a save to make barely we must have done something right if even keane said that
giblet

Roy Keane hates Alex Ferguson, I wouldn't use that as a way to discredit him. I would, however, use his feeble excuses after any loss against him.

Rugby Parker

He may hate sir alex but he loves man utd and normally wont hear a bad word said about them so it was nice to see a ex player gicve some criticism when you know gary neville would have made up more excuses than fergie himself lol

Getting some De Ja Vu from last year and the 08/09 season. This time last year we were 11th in the table, we got the huge boost with a win against Chelsea and finished 6th. This time in 08/09 a month onwards I believe we beat Real Madrid 4-0 and United 4-1 at Old Trafford.

Careful boys, I see a storm coming.

My thoughts on the match-

- Andy did really well, especially considering he was largely isolated most of the game
- Glad for Kuyt. He deserves all the plaudits he can get. He's been a fantastic servant for the club and a large part of me hope he stays with us as a squad player until he retires.
- Kelly was fantastic. Really hope to see him feature more.
- Suarez's goal celebrations were great to see!
- De Gea is shockingly bad.
- Valencia looked very, very dangerous.
- And finally, to the crowd at Anfield- excellent showing by the fans. If we can show that sort of intensity against all of our opponents, we'll pull into 4th...

Being a South African, and having to deal with the smug Gary Bailey on our local sports channel supersport.
There is nothing I like more than seeing that smug grin wiped of Gary Baileys face after the mancs are beaten.
Well done lads, these are the wins that I always love and savour, and they keep me going for a long time.
So proud of our lads, team and management.

Hi All,

Delighted with victory and Andy Caroll looked better and his link up play was much better and troubled united.. i still think downing should try to take on player and cross rather then cut back and few times today he didnt do that and his delivery wasnt great even when he had chance but like caroll he had better game and with time he will do well.. right winger is what we need other then striker/forward and i hope we get someone who can take on defender and cross and it will make caroll more of threat. When Daglish was asked about carroll s performence he rightly pointed out carroll wasnt on best of shape when he arrived from Newcastle and he is getting better in shape and hopefully it will show with goals for us in future.. Lets celebrate and concentrate on wolves away...YNWA

Totally agree, Carol was bought for the future, not for the now,he will get better and all those doubters will owe him an engraved apology. He isnt being given the best of service and you have to point the finger at tactics being used, not even torres could take on 2/3 defenders all the time with out support play

28 Jan 2012 15:28:21
hey eds,
Do you know which players Liverpool have an interest in for buying this month?

On the evidence of the mancbusting games Henderson's best position is at the corner flag with less than two minutes to go! He has an old head on his shoulders and new exactly how to tick the clock down. Professional.

I've read some good posts, but this 1 is then best so far .

I would just like to say what a squad performance these last four days. I said the other day that people need to keep quiet about kenny and the doom mongers will be bored today.

We couldnt of scored at a better time. And i thought carroll, hendo and downing were all superb. My man of the match was martin kelly but very hard to choose.

What a weekend and the best team are through.

Were on the march with kennys army.

Andy Carrolls effort was much improved today so I can't complain about that and certainly for the latter stages he was looking more and more dangerous. However those who are calling his display brilliant are over egging it a bit!
An improvement non the less

Chris in Tamworth

Not brilliant at all but winning when playing poorly isn't a bad habit to start acquiring.

On a separate note, I hope the Mancs that come on this page accusing us of being classless are suitably reviled by those a**eholes who've been caught spitting on the Hillsborough memorial. Classy guys. Very classy
AD

I disagree mate, and with all due respect I think you are having difficulty eating humble pie. His service was still poor in general (very few chances crated for him and his stronger attributes) and he still manage to carve a few breaks and chances from his own initiative. So If his bullying of the penalty box, and hold up play (not to mention his assists and chasing down) was not brilliant, what was it? Was it average? good? or just an "improvement?.' But to be fair it was only one game, and hopefully he can prove that his difficult period was just a case of "form" rather than being a bad player. No disrespect intended.

Not sure what more you want? Won 90% of his aerial battles, held up the ball, De Gea was in fear the whole game because of him, unlucky not to get a goal, tracked back, got in the box every chance he got, was involved in both goals.

A complete target man's performance, and deserved MOTM.

Jatt YNWA

They make me cringe

Big improvement to be fair to him.
I am one of his critics but if he carries on with EFFORT like he did today then i'll happily have him in our squad.
But only with that type of effort today.
Well done Andy & all the lads!

Lets hope the f..kers are dealt with by SAF! somehow though i doubt it

The amount of flick-ons he won was unbelievable but it wasn't until the second half when Bellamy came on did they go to a Liverpool player. The very minimum you can ask for is work rate and commitment and Carroll gave both today.

What role beter ?, im not going to knock the lad but really come on, its simple if you dont perform you get dropped or sold ,THAT WAS , the liverpool way . He is not fitting in with a system not his fault, wonder how well messi would have done playing for wimbeldon in the 80,s , lets not knock the lad but really he is never going to do it for us, another team who play his style yes, wow just thought wimbledon 80,s kid would probly be leading goalscorer by now.

Carrol is a monster if he wants to be and he has been awful in past but in last 20 minutes he showed what he can do if he wants to play for us long term he has to do this longer.
But it also shows kenny must play downing on left he was 4 times player he was on right and can supply carrol which he needs.
Cara on as CM was absolute rubbish and kenny made another big error.
Don't stretch ur luck kenny play d right formation and players in it.
It was painful to watch us.
If we want 4th we must get carrol of 20 minutes playing every game n for that we need downing on left and a right winger.

Red indian

Why the F**k was downing playing on the right when carrol was in the box? when bellamy plays, downing moves to the left. Just dont get the logic.

Carra needs to get his coaching badges and move on to the next stage of his career.

Carroll needs to be given more game time and encouraged. Then we judge him at end of season.

What a difference a week makes. Knocked both Manchester clubs out of cup competitions, and an improvement from a few players who have underperformed. I loved Saurez's reaction to the goals and he is nearly back, I can't wait as I feel he is going to be a man on a mission. Andy Carroll was the MOM for me he was immense and played his best game for us probably since he joined.

Hi all,
Does anybody know why the guy sat between Suarez and Aurelio was?

Thanks
Burnsy

It was Cavani

I heard it was Edison Cavani. He was wearing a mask though.

His best mate don't remember his name.

ChinUp

I think its his best mate. (Suarez)

Back of his chair had Cavani or something written on it.

It was messi and ronaldo combined............ jokes it was hulk

Word around twitter (I know) is that it was Nicholas Lodeiro. Would be a good signing if we could get him.

If it is him, I'm sure he was there just to watch a good game of football.

Luis Suarez best mate, that is.

ChinUp

Luis Suarez best mate Leo I think

ChinUp

Nicholas lodeiro, hes freinds with luis so try not to read too much into it, would be a decent signing though.

Just hearing that 3 Mancs fans have been arrested for spitting on the Hillsborough Memorial? Is this really true Eds?

Highly disrespectful and shameful.

PITSILFC {Ed005's Note - Not sure mate.}

Should be shot if it did happen. At the very least they shouldn't be allowed in this country again for such a disgrace.

Disgusting animals, should be jailed 4 long sentences, idiots..

RED4lifeNOTjust4XMAS {Ed001's Note - all clubs have idiot fans, let's just remember that the next time we play them and keep the atmosphere how it was today! We don't need more bitterness being built up, that just leads to the kind of stupidity like happened when Smith got injured against us.}

Will ferguson say they aren't UTD fans to protect his precious team!

Wise words ed001. Respect to you.

Suarez showed no sign that he wanted to leave at anfield today so stop the s**t that he wants to leave

People will probably say that he doesn't want to play which is the reason we he isn't playing games. Despite his 8 game ban.

Andy Caroll MOTM today. He was superb but was too alone in the first half. This guy should definitely play with another striker.Carragher definitely lacks match fitness he should not have played the match.Suarez reaction after kuyt's goal was nice to see, he seems to have scored the goal himself.

Great performance from the big man today. Limited supply in the first half, but was involved in the first goal.
Better supply in the 2nd half and showed good touch, brought others into play and was involved in the 2nd goal too.

To be fair i thought andy did well today.just wish hed try close down players more.effort is usually rewarded

Mr Irish, im a lfc fan all of my 54 yrs and i can tell you this, its not about negative its a thing called FACT .the lad carrol is not a top class player, he is slow and isnt even that good at wining crosses in the air that one would expect him to,. OK i agrree, he is our player and support him as we all try to do, but i dont think he is the future and i think we may have to take a hit on this one.

KK's subs were bang on! Carroll not worth £35m but is def starting to look like he will come good soon. Downing had a good game too.

Well done to the team, has been a great week!

A perfect response to all the doubters today:

- Andy Carroll was man of the match.
- Dirk Kuyt is not finished.
- Downing, Adam and Henderson were outstanding.
- Kenny Dalglish knows his tactics and substitutions.
- We have a great squad capable of beating anyone

I bet the moaners wish they had kept quiet and supported the team. Well done lads.

Outstanding team effort. There was no "man of the match". If anything, it was the eleventh man. Even through television, atmosphere was electric.

Tactics were wrong first half, right in the second. Substitutions were excellent.

We won and that's what matters.

Can anyone tell me who was sitting next to suarez during the second half of the match? Looks like a player. Aurelio was next to him on the first.

28 Jan 2012 14:58:43
dirk kuyt shouldnt be sold, he should be given more and more playing chances, we seriously are in need of a playmaker, winger and a striker. i still support kuyt for the season giving him an opportunity to prove himself, carrol played good but still he has to improve, he honestly lacks some edge, my fav are skrter and agger, we got good defence bdw. honestly our team lacks some depth so need a good playmaker like david silva of mancity and a striker.

28 Jan 2012 14:58:24
I've got to say that afterall the stick he got, Carroll just got on with it and played really well today specially second half. Was unlucky not to score but well done, Andy!

WOW, What a player that De Gea is. I hope Man United keep him in goal for at least for the next 20 years.

Suarez's reaction to Kuyt scoring the winner was absolutely fantastic, the reaction and passion he showed was from a guy who loves the club just as much as we all do. I for one can't wait to see our beloved number 7 return against the spuds.

Suarez ain't going nowhere, so forget the Real, Barca rumours....

The Grand wizard...

Isn't it the same 'slaters' who are now asking the 'slaters' to come on the site and post rubbish now? Great game...thought we weren't playing well before the whistle...but Adam, Downing, Carrol and Kuyt played well in the second...Hendo running his socks off in midfield though stats show he only had 28 odd passes in the match! Lad's certainly putting in an effort!

Hope all the Andy Carroll haters will come on here and admit he was brilliant today.

Gordy

He was not brilliant, although it is the best he's played since city at home last march.. full credit to him.

LFC-IRE

What Rubbish! He had a decent last 5 - 10 minutes, the first 80 was his usual rubbish standards! Get a grip will ya!

Steve

One of his best games in a red shirt - all he needs is a goal and he'll become a legend

Get to Specsavers Steve, he worked his arse off for us and deserves praise. Made his presence known and allowed others a lot more space so credit where credit is due. Hopefully he can keep this up and when we have more possession he'll be banging them in.

Clearly didnt watch the game if you think that. Carroll was fantastic, showed more desire and passion than ever before - also looked less gangly and awkward, very determined, won most headers, dominated the entire Manc defence on his own and set up both goals. Can't really ask for more from a player.

Dirk Kuyt smashed home a late, late winner to knock Manchester United out of the FA Cup and send Anfield into raptures after a pulsating fourth-round tie.

English football's two most successful teams didn't disappoint in a game that threatened to be a sideshow to the race row involving Patrice Evra, who captained United, and Luis Suarez, who sat in the stands.

Daniel Agger gave Liverpool the lead when he met a Steven Gerrard corner to power home beyond a stranded, and thoroughly unconvincing David de Gea.

However before half-time, and after Antonio Valencia had struck the post, Park Ji-sung fired the visitors back on level terms.
Chances came and went in the second half before a simple back-to-front hoof by Pepe Reina was flicked on by Andy Carroll to Kuyt, who lashed the finish beyond De Gea.

Carroll was one of the better players on the pitch today..We would not have won the last two games without him..I have always supported the lad (search D.Liver or Davey Liver if you don't believe me.) He has steadily improved and almost deserved man of the match in my opinion(who else would it be?). If he had scored that header that hit the bar, i think i might have wept for joy. Not because we would have beat the mancs but for him, he deserved that goal. So allow me to drop my "phone voice" and but on my thickest scouse accent ( I am from a single parent family in toxteth after all) IN YOUR F*****' FACE CARROLL HATERS! Get behind him and learn the game of football instead of just being glory hunters. I am so pleased for Andy Carroll..

We are in DESPERATE DESPERATE need of a striker and ATLEAST one attack minded midfielder or winger, because Henderson adds absolutley nothing to our attack or defence, he's just there, with his 16m price tag. So many others we could have had instead of him but obviously being English makes him better than all the rest, mid table is where he belongs.

Midfield is sitting too deep giving utd too much time and space on the ball. Need to close down quicker and put their players under pressure. Exactly what they're doing to us. Hopefully Bellamy has got a bit left in him to give us that extra dimension up top.

Maxi of please, whats the point, move Enrique up and Johnson on behind him as LB.

28 Jan 2012 13:40:39
Rubish tactics so far, not closing down, giving them all the possession, not good. Can't see us winning this game with the players on show, theres no cutting edge without Suarez or bellamy, no one to run at defenders with pace and flair, downings very standard and predictable runs mean he isnt going to scare anyone when they see him coming. Carroll being on the pitch just means we keep blasting it up, and hes not even winning anything either. But lets keep going and see if lucks on our side and we can get something.

Enrique getting slaughtered by Valencia, Maxi having a mare providing no support to Enrique and constantly giving ball away. Need to take maxi off, Downing to left and Bellamy on if fit or Kuyt otherwise! Come in Kenny far too defensive!

I think Carra is playin sort of defensive mid, he's a bit further up the park the Skrtel and Agger, but he free's up Gerrard to run forward a little bit, look at it this way, it's either Carra or Adam?

Carb

BULL.He trying hard, not getting any support though.

Carroll is playing well, you must be watching the wrong game.

I agree, take of Carra & get an extra body in midfield. We are making Utd look good.

Where's the intensity? Looks like Wednesday has taken it out of the lads.

28 Jan 2012 13:28:38
ffs Enrique, loose the ball at least bust a gut and close the space putting pressure on the fragle. Not run off him giving him extra yards for a cross.

28 Jan 2012 13:28:21
Need Bellamy on for second half if he's up to it we're a little one dimensional

28 Jan 2012 13:27:57
Hopefully Bellamy has a half an hour in him, could do with a bit of pace out there.

28 Jan 2012 13:02:39
Why the heck is carragher playing

28 Jan 2012 12:57:55
HEY GUYS...

you can already see that the midf is not working with carra there....atleast shelvey wud have been the better choice and then make stevie sit..cos he can do that...plus its less running...and let shelvey and henderson hunt and chase and hassle and attack..

28 Jan 2012 12:56:29
Get Downing on the left! I really don't understand why he gets stationed on the right/middle.

28 Jan 2012 12:46:13
Strange team selection, understandably Bellamy can't cope with three matches in a week and Kelly for Johnson gives us a little more defensive stability but not sure why Carra's been given a run out in a must win game. I hope it works for us and we stuff 'em but I have my doubts.

28 Jan 2012 12:46:00
Come on then Andy, I can criticise your ability but you can shut me up with good movement, desire and effort.
Step up

What has Kenny Dalglish got up his sleeve with that team and formation ?

Very interesting .

28 Jan 2012 12:08:16
HEY LFC FANS.........

carragher in midfield???????? WHYYYYYYYYY

we dont need him there against there midfield... it seems so defensive..bring a reserve player in there

i just think it wont work...he will be too slow in there....and he will hoof it alot...........

just look at there midfield guys.......do we need carra there?

28 Jan 2012 12:04:09
For all the rumourists out there,
who would you rather LFC sign -

click unbelievable for Aguero

I keep hearing that we will not sign any players who r truly world class and I can honestly see the reason behind this mainly champions league qualification but surely we need players of that calibre to make the champs league and there are many quality players out there I'm sure would jump at the chance to wear the famous red!

Fellow Reds

I know this question is posted often but I have the misfortune of not having TV coverage for the game.
Can someone please suggest a good website where the stream is good. I have tried p2p a few times and it always drops out on me.

Any suggestion would be very welcome.

Thanks

anyone who says 'why would they join liverpool if man city or chelsea want them' - you should be ashamed to call yourself a red... NEVER forget our history and what an honour it is to play for liverpool.. CERTAIN players care about that.. it's not as if we are not in the mix... if real madrid were 6th place and malaga were top of the league.. id still want to go to real! we can attract top players and we do have money - naming rights will significantly pay for our new stadium... warrior sponsorship essentially covers most 1st team wages... we're in a good place, we're still rebuilding - have faith - we are very close to 1 possibly 2 signings...YNWA

Man utd Man City and Chelsea, are prepared to pay bigger wages,so the top players will go where the money is.I don.t believe fans can't see this.Torres went for more money,Macherano, Meireles went for more money.Forget this history thing If city want the same player we will lose out on wages stop kidding yourself.

Also, Chelsea, Man City etc all have strong squads with alot of competition for each place, where as we have very little any big star could walk in and with a few good performances would be a regular and take us back up to the top..

28 Jan 2012 10:37:34
i'm not sure about all this cavani stuff, fair enough he's young, same nationality as suarez/coates and got a great goal record in a poor namby pamby league where the ref blows for the slightest of things but how would he adapt to the pace and rough and tumble of the prem?

i'd rather splash the money on darren bent who has always bagged goals in the prem even when playing for sheite teams like charlton and sunderland.

i know he's overpriced because he's english but at least we'd be paying over the odds for a prem proven striker who won't need a season to settle or a one season wonder like carroll!

i think its a far more realistic target and would almost guarentee goals straight away would cavani?

by all means if we've got 30-35m spare in the summer go back for cavani but for me we need someone who can come in and get on with it, not someone who needs to adjust to the pace and physical nature of the game

i know i'll probably get abuse for saying this but weather you like bent or not he will get us goals you cant deny that.

fester

Are you the gym guy? :P

Bent before Cavani, well I'm glad your not the manager mate.Woodi lietoyeh

Bent over Cavani thats like saying you'd rather shag Pat Butcher than Heidi Klum!

Pat Butcher Mmmmmmm .She'd get it.
Woodi Lietoyeh

I'd like to see Darren Bent play in serie a! The italian league is much better and more similar to ours, than people think.

That is probably the most stupid post I have ever read in all my years here.

Cavani is a God. A GOD!

but given the choice, you would want Bent instead.

You Sir, it could be said - are bent in the head. hehe.

'Rough and tumble of the pl'... bloody hell, let go of the myth - you can barely touch anyone anymore. 'Namby Pampy League'.... how do you know? you don't watch Serie A - I know you don't watch it, because if you did, you would know that Cavani is a God.

The first time I saw him was at the World Cup... playing in an advanced midfield role.

His touch, and balance, his vision and beauty. Sublime. Echoes of Zizou... the drop of the shoulder and lightning chance of direction - I get aroused even thinking about it.

Did Lineker, Adebayor or Shearer notice.
No, of course they didn't - because they are stupid.

'Darren Bent - now there's a striker...'

Are you sure you aren't Alan Shearer?

It seems no-one noticed Cavani. Can't people spot a player without a pundit telling them 'he's good'?

Since then - Cavani has become a beast.
He has it all.

Moved further upfield as a central striker he is destroying Serie A defences in a way I have not seen since Batistuta.

But the freaky thing is that he has much more to his game than Batigol - (who I worhipped btw - I do not say that lightly)

I do not think Cavani belongs with mere mortals.

He would always become great, he gave me that feeling the first time I saw an Henry, a Fabregas, Owen, Del Piero or a Ronaldo....

- or a Zizou - the day I fell in love (allow mw to wax lyrical here).

It was Milan-Bordeaux, UEFA Cup... Zizou was so young... he even had hair. He almost made me cry he played so beautifully... he was a cut obove all the rest - Cavani gave me that feeling.

Cavani is now a God. He would improve any team on earth. He is man capable of reducing men to tears, such is his audacity, his vision, his technical prowess...

A mix of Zidane and Batistuta - In a 6"2 frame... Cavani is unique - I have not seen his like before. He is something new.

When he gets the ball. You are excited - you don't don't know what he's gonna do - but you know it may be something very special....

And you say that given a choice we should get Darren Bent...

Good God.

BJH YNWA. (saddened by the 'Shearer- like ignorance' displayed by many in relation to football on the continent.)

i live in manchester and the word around here is the manc fans are going to take white hoods into the ground - dont rise to it let the world see they are the ones that initiate the sh*t and we are above them.

IT would be foolish to think we'll run rampant against Utd for the whole match it won't happen long periods of defending will be required and the need for deep defending will be required and Carra should start, if we had Carra against Bolton may be we would not have suffered a humiliation.

Kenny has made poor team selections he needs to get it right today. It will be a war of attrition on the field and nobody is better equipped for that then Carra who is a "warhouse" in every good sense of the word.

And what do YOU know about team selections? Just be happy to be a fan and quit pretending to know anything about what you no f*** all about.

Excuse the rant but I am annoyed! I live in Scotland and today at 12.45 on STV, the equivalent of ITV1, we have Columbo the movie! What the f***k? I may be wrong and cynical but I have had the distinct impression that since the SNP got in power up here they have had a policy of not showing English sport the rest of the UK can see. Thank you Mr Salmond.....I know which way I will be voting in your referendum.

The irony of this is that they are also trying, I say trying, to get Scots fitter and drinking less. If I can't watch the game at home, I have no alternative but to go to the pub! And what will I do there?

Bild suggest that a bid of €10m (approximately £8m) could bring Barrios to the Premier League.

Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios is the subject of interest from both Arsenal and Manchester City – as well as Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland, according to German tabloid Bild.

Ed could this this be true if so for £8m we would be stupid not to try and get him..

28 Jan 2012 07:28:16
I hope below artice in telegraph is just joke.although it is one of rated papers.ed what u think?

Liverpool's American chairman Tom Werner first admired Stewart Downing after seeing this video of the winger kicking ball into bins at Aston Villa's training ground.

?

Werner and owner John W Henry were so impressed by YouTube clips of the England international slotting balls into five wheelie bins from long range that they decided to make an offer to Villa for the left-footed midfielder. They later found out the video was doctored.

"There was some footage of Stewart where he was, from 30 yards away, kicking a football into five different trash cans and it was brilliant," said Werner.

"John and I said: 'Oh my God, this player is brilliant, we've got to figure out a way to make a deal with him'."

It was only later that Werner and Henry realised the footage had been digitally enhanced as part of a campaign to boost season ticket sales at Villa.

However, this didn't stop Downing completing his £20m move to Anfield, although the transfer hasn't proved a success yet with the 27 year-old still to score his first Premier League goal for Liverpool.

Red indian {Ed001's Note - it is nonsense, Ian Ayre has already pointed out that they were informed the video was a fake.}

This is old news mate i knew this about 3 or 4 months ago.

Baloney

I read this back in the summer. It is true that the owners thought it was real - but our coaching staff explained the obvious to them before we signed Downing.

Pathetic that this is being so widely circulated again as 'news' though.

BJH YNWA. (They always admitted they knew very little about football - this was a case in point - it's not that surprising they thought it was real - after watching Downing all year they must laugh at their own naivete now. We live and learn. hehe.)

28 Jan 2012 07:10:06
I dont know whether or not we'll sign anybody this transfer window but a lot of you have to remember we have a Director of Football who likes to make last minute deals because this can cause clubs to sometimes accept offers once they realise that nobody else actually wants their player(s).

So i expect a last day deal soon, but if it doesnt happen, oh well. But i can tell you this, Spurs use the exact transfer dealing techniques too, so expect Harry on deadline day to be linked with 2 or 3 players also.

Be calm boys. YNWA {Ed016's Note - He does have a history of dead line day deals.}

28 Jan 2012 04:56:48
Not a question or a Rumour but while reading several posts here about possible transfers and maths that goes behind in bringing a player to the club, I found it very astonishing that last january

1) we were 12th
2) no guarantee of CL
3) Change in ownership and Management
4) out of all cup competitions
5) Fought relegation battle for some time

In short, we were sailing in broken ship with a deadly storm at the horizon

But inspite of all this before 31st January 2010, We signed LUIS SUAREZ!

Don't tell me he wasn't world class then

He was , He is world class and he signed for us in those turbulent times that speaks for his Integrity!

I'm quite contained with the squad we have at the moment.

And I rather want some new training methods and techniques to make our strikers score goals under any situations Instead of buying expensive ones.

Y.N.W.A

I totally agree with this. Not sure as to why Liverpool fans consistently write on this site stating why certain players will not want to join us. What has been said here is fact. Liverpool are still recognised across the world as England's most successful club.
Don't get me wrong im not saying we play like this team or anything but if you look at Brazil, they haven't won a football trophy for a long time but are still recognised for their historic achievements.

Knocked out to Manchester clubs in 3 days with the same team and same set of players who got sticks day in day out .....talk about WORLD CLASS! ....Absolute delighted to see SUAREZ and KENNY celebrate like the next Liverpool Supporter ...I think the worst is over for us! ... when kenny commented on man city saying they hope they have his number. it got me thinking... could we be interested in tevez? im sure he would like to leave and other clubs dont like the asking price and tevez would consider a significant drop in wages if he wants to leave. im sure the eds dont like him but he is a class player.

Sigh. {Ed016's Note - Kenny is known for his man management, maybe its not total nuts, then again I'm pretty high}

Hmmm would he improve player comraderie? Would he show loyalty to LFC? Would he play his heart out for the fans? Would he take a wage drop? Kenny's spent the last year steadying the ship and keeping the dressing room spirit positive - we dont want a mercenary rat like Tevez to upset the applecart. He's probably the last player on earth we need despite his obvious ability.

Hi Eds fellow scousers

This is just a question about todays game..... Iam in Oz so wont be able to watch the game unless I get Setanta but they have said its too late to get it before kick off...just wondering what decent web sites I can watch it on if any one knows please? I have tried that mypep2 and it doesnt seem to work unless I am doing it wrong.

Cheers folks

S {Ed001's Note - I tend to use the Google Chrome live football app myself.}

Thanks ed001 I will try it

I might be wrong, it could be region locked, but with it being live here in the UK on ITV1, you could try their website. I hope this helps. If not, firstrowsports is always a good bet. {Ed016's Note - I also use google chrome football app, search it, it works wonders}

I'm in Oz too and watched the Oldham game on SportsLemon and it was as good as tv (or you can get up at 4 and go to the casino if youre in a major city)

Game starts 11.45 in oz, not 4. {Ed001's Note - depends on which part of Oz you are in for starters.}

Edinson Cavani -

Napoli are in the semi-final of the Coppa Italia, 7th in Serie A 6 points off a Champions League place for next season and In the last 16 of the Champions League this season.

Liverpool are in the final of the Carling Cup, still in the FA cup, 7th in the league 6 points off a Champions League place for next season and no European football for this season.

Therefore Napoli are in a similar position to us domestically but they have European football this year and Cavani will be integral to their plans of progressing to the next stage. And I don't see them willing to sell or for that matter him wanting too leave unless it was to another club in the Champions League.

Liverpool have money to spend, and I'm guessing if they wanted it, they could get the money for Cavani. But if we where to make an offer for Cavani, that leaves Andy Carroll's future at Liverpool dead. We paid £35million for the big Geordie and he hasn't done all that well, but Liverpool are not a club who spends that sort of money on a player too sell him a year later... and if we sold him we wouldn't even get anywhere near what we paid for him back in return, clubs would laugh at that price, £15million would probably be the highest bidder.

For that reason Carroll won't be leaving in January and we wont be signing Cavani.

Expect somebody within the region of £7-15m who is young, has good potential and a high re-sale value. He will also be able to slot right into the first team/squad.

Luuk de Jong - Fits the bill, young, talented and will have a high re-sale value. Only thing is I think hes injured, and I don't see us buying anyone who is injured. Maybe in the summer he will replace Kuyt.

David Texiera - Same as de Jong, young, not prolific but has potential and Uruguayan so with Suarez and Coates there it could help him settle. But... are we even interested? I don't see it happening.

I don't know if we will sign anybody, but if not we are still capable of winning the Carling and FA Cup. And no matter what anybody says we can get 4th, you only have too look where we were last year, think it was 12th? where 7th which is disappointing but only 6 points off so lets get stuck in and get behind the team tomorrow and Kenny, YNWA

Is this a joke mate? {Ed016's Note - I didn't get it}

Would we not be in trouble for match fixing for making so many changes? 6 changes is a hell of a lot... {Ed016's Note - Match fixing?}

Who said Gerrard is knackered. he' would play this game with broken legs if he had to.

cozinoz

Don't know about Johnson being knackered, but I do want Kelly to start this one. No Rooney, no Nani means Ashley Young on the left. Last time Kelly went up against Young, Kelly was a brick wall that Young could barely even climb. I want Henderson to have a rest, he runs his heart out every single game, I think a rest will do him good. Stevie will start, like cozinoz said, even if he had broken legs he would start the game. I do want to see Shelvey start, but Downing on the right. Carroll needs his support down the wings.

Young is out for another week.

We signed the wrong winger from Aston Villa. We should have signed Albrighton.

Albrighton is too injury prone. Ateast downing is match fit for every game. Plus he played well against shi**ty.

Ed's great site. My wife thinks I am having an affair with Ed002.

I can understand why people are frustrated with how we are currently performing but this is due to the hightened belief that came from the signings of both Suarez and Carroll this time last year and the investment that has been put in over the summer.

A lot has been placed on the amount of money that we paid for Carroll. However if LFC had not spent big on the departure of Torres the new owners would have been compared to the previous American owners. I think that LFC were aware that they overpaid for Carroll. But I also believe that this was an astute business decision in that they generated a considerable level of income from proving that they are committed to taking LFC back to where they belong. I also believe that he was signed as a long term prospect for the club.

I will admit that yes I am frustrated with the lack of consistency but I am 100% behind KK. It will take time
to build a team that can compete on all levels. But he is bringing back the values and ethics that the club was founded and that make us all proud to support LFC.

AONI {Ed001's Note - at least I know which of you Ed002 keeps sloping off to meet now, Ed007 is heartbroken about being two-timed....}

Ed007 is sean connery {Ed001's Note - he is older than Sean.....}

Ed007 is a good un

eds dont mean to ask a stupid question but what time is the match tomorrow?... {Ed001's Note - is Google broken? 12:45pm UK time.}

Easy question to ask, not always easy to find out match times but would be awesome for you to display the league table and next match with the times on the right of the screen in a fixed section. {Ed016's Note - google works for me all the time, i just do not get why it doesn't for other people}

Liverpool website, sky sports, bbc, the possibilities are endless.

Lazy sod.

Matty b {Ed001's Note - and we can't display fixtures, the FA and the Premier League charge a lot of money for that!}

OH MY GOD STOP WITH THE CAVANI TALK. Ed's stop posting it! It is making this website (nearly) unbearable.

RuncornRed

Why stop now there is only a few more days left of this nonsense talk...
You never know we might sign Cavani Hazard Sissoko Honda Erikson (speeliing) Turan Wickham Young Aguero and Jones and any one else we missed out on and could possibly get as well then sell Carrol for 50m to Chelsea..... what a team that will be....Oh wait thats someones Fifa Dream Team ;-p

Speedy

Hey, are we getting Hazard?

cozinoz {Ed016's Note - nope}

Why are people getting so wound up about it? Surely you should pity them instead of getting annoyed.

And wouldn't you look silly if we did =D
