Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

28 Jul 2011 23:45:28
Evening all,

I love Liverpool FC, when they're up I'm up and when they're down I'm down. As old fashioned as it sounds I feel I need to spell it out because some of the vile that's spouted all over this fantastic (tip my hat to the eds) site needs to stop.Â

Transfers - something a lot of "fans" don't seem to be able to grasp is that the value of anything is relative. If a pint of milk costs £1 then a half is worth £0.50. Since Chelsea, city and R.Madrid have been throwing the cash around transfer fees have been stupid. Is Torres worth £50 mill? Is Carroll worth 35? Downing 20? Henderson 16.5? Probably not, but that doesn't matter. Basic economics, if a customer can afford £X for item Y then that's what's charged, never mind actual value.

They way I see it is simple, our squad is better than 12 months ago. Last season if Torres or Gerrard was out then we were predictable and often dull. Now we have; Carroll, Suarez, Adam, Downing and Hendo who all offer something different, in addition to Gerrard, Reina, Agger, Lucas, Carra, Kuyt and Johnson.

I'd like to say a massive well done to Lucas. I can admit I wasn't too impressed when he first arrived but he has learnt to play an entirely different position very well. The mark of a good tackler is staying on their feet and Lucas usually does and is still getting better at it. Why the lad gets slated for playing simple passes is beyond me.

Kenny is building a team that is greater than the sum of it's parts and thanks to our youth setup (which Houllier and Rafa must take credit for) will be for years to come.Â

While Harry, Mancini and Villas-Boas are all fumbling in the dark looking for a spark there's already something burning on the Mersey river. The future is already bright from where I'm standing, the future's red.

Nicolas Bentenar anybody... at £7m i think he is a bargain

28 Jul 2011 23:20:39
We don't need Aguero mate, we've got Luis. And City payed 28 mill for Dzeko and Carroll is better than Dzeko.

Blair Mayne YNWA
================================

Are you sure Blair, because as far as the pre season went I think Ngog was better than Carroll , had more energy and more determination ..
Its too early to start on Carroll, but just have that sneaky feeling my opinion wont change come December.
I am a bit concerned about the back line , conceded more that 10 goals in this pre season (4 games).. and more concerns in the front line .. no goals.. remind me of last year.

Can i just say as a lfc fan im sick of seeing ppl complain about carroll give the lad a chance he came to us injured and still played well he is young and is seen as a long term signing he still has to develop and mature as a player. Its not going to help if fans are going to complain about him and how much he cost.they are preseason games and are only meant as warm up there was now suarez gerrard or downing crosses and passes for andy the feed on so lay off and give him a chance dont knock his confidence i doubt he wants his price tag hanging over him anytime he misses a header or something...

does anybody else feel that the half a job that Henry has done so far has made us no better in regards to competing for a CL place. We are buying average players such as adam, carroll and downing and we are paying top prices for these average players. we need to stop cutting corners buy trying to buy average british players as none of the four british countries do any good in international matches anyway. we need to buy foreign... just look at suarez for example {Ed002's Note - It has nothing to do with Henry.}

Before rabbiting on about 2nd teamers and deadwood playing tonight fans should realise that the team that came on to that pitch and on to pitches for the last three matches was called LIVERPOOL - not Liverpool XI or Liverpool reserves or Liverpool deadwood - but LIVERPOOL. People who are not fans will see this as another humiliation for LIVERPOOL. I see it as yet another humiliation for LIVERPOOL and fans who regard it as just a practice match are missing the point. This is a club that we should all be proud of and the performances that we have been getting are an insult. I hope that the next performance is more in line with the real Liverpool which has known its own tragedies and has respect for all the people in Norway who have their own tragedy. Let us remember that the 1st death toll was given as 96 - a figure known to all of us. Show the Norwegian people some respect and the let us get on with the business of showing the other Premier League clubs no respect at all.

hey pool fans can ye please back off aquaman give him 1 full season playing for us then we can judge so give him a break all we need is 2 good defenders and we will have a good crack at the league this season we have 3 good strikers in carroll , suarez, kyut, midfield , gerrard, henderson, adam, downing, aqua, merrilles, lucas, maxi, defence we have carragherwho should be doiing alot of his work coming off the bench, also we have agger, skyrtle, greek, now these 3 are real problems 4 us reason is they are not good enough for us do ye agree

28 Jul 2011 23:06:14
I wish everyone would get off the teams back Friendly games are exactly what they are friendlies, you can start your ranting and raving if we play like that cone start of the season, and give Carrol a fu&£ing break will you The lads been playing with no real support line and for looked sharp 2nd half of the Hull game Wish these so called "supports" actually live up to their name and support the team SHEESH

28 Jul 2011 23:05:26
Its no good everyone saying "oh it was a team of youngsters and fringe players ", if that's the case then the question has to be asked "why?". 2-3 weeks from the start of the season and we are playing with that drivel, if anything it was disrespectful to Galatasaray (who, by the way, were excellent). Dont talk about shop windows and advertising deadwood, because any team looking to buy prospective outside players at Liverpool will research deeply what the player's strengths are more in depth than one friendly.
It was very poor, Carroll was isolated, misplaced passes, too many touches, showing a lack of confidence (probably down to the last drubbing) and no shape or cohesion.
At no time during even uncle Woy's reign did we slip down to the depths of some of tonight's passages of play.
Solution? Start playing more first team and terminate dead wood contracts (cheaper than wages in the long run).
In Kenny we trust, til the very end YNWA

Apparently the match tonight was one of the final pre-season games to determine who will stay or be shown the door for next season. Dalglish wants progress and he wants to give fringe players every chance to prove their worth.

28 Jul 2011 22:44:02
I'm a die hard Liverpool fan and like a lot of fans I'm peed off and worried a little to be honest with tonight's performance if that's what you can call it but that's that, I'm still supporting the proper reds(Liverpool lol) even after that performance from tonight's fringe players but we all know they're not good enough and I'm under the impression that kk thinks they not good enough as well and wants rid of them but it's going to take time so please keep the faith, pk

28 Jul 2011 22:40:12
A lot of doom and gloom around tonight and I cant say there arent any worries BUT can we all get a little perspective please?
I'm sure Rafa did something similar a few years ago when he played a few 2nd/3rd string players in pre-season to say to them "I gave you a chance to prove yourselves and what did you show me?" then got rid. I mean Poulsen and Degen for a start tonight were plain awful and thats just the beginning.
I expect to see more of a 1st team next Mon (Valerenga) with the real team playing against Valencia.

Speaking of...Eds - Any news on injuries? Is SG the only major concern for Slumberland match at the mo'?

Also has Izzaguire now stepped ahead of Enrique as our potential LB or do we still expect the likes of Enrique and Dann to sign before the season starts?

5uarezTimes

Ps: Carroll needs to be played to his strengths before we start writing him off (his game is not about pace)-give him a chance to come good

ok so we are all complaining again and yes i know we have some woefull players our complete defence stinks so in the name of liverpool fc sort out our defence kenny it is a shambles just imagine if we had a real solid defence start from there

28 Jul 2011 22:34:39
Imho, i think that we desperately need more reinforcements. A left back, centre back and a young skillful winger is still needed. That performance showed how s**t our backup was, so if we can get at least an Enrique and Dann and maybe a turan I'll be over the moon. Is it possible eds?

P.S have faith in carroll, i know he'll come good

This site used to be great but the constant moaners and doom mongerers have ruined it. There's no real discussion or banter, they just whinge, they will never be happy unless they have something to moan about. The definition of fan is a supporter, so why not just try doing that instead.

LET 4GET ABOUT THE RESULT AND ALL THE TALK ABOUT CLUBS SIGNING PLAYERS FOR CHEAPER THAN OURS.
FOR EXAMPLE MAN CITY OR ARSENAL SIGNING GERVINHO & AGUERO (SPELLING)

MOST THE TEAM THAT STARTED TONIGHT ARE 2ND TEAM DEAD WOOD AND WILL NOT BE STARTING VS SUNDERLAND.......THE PLAYERS WE DID SIGN ARE PLAYERS THAT WILL GIVE 100% EVERY MATCH AND WILL NOT TRY MOVED AWAY WHEN THINGS GO WRONG EXAMPLE LIKE TORRES DID.....

MAN CITY ARE A TEAM FULL OF OVERPAID EGGO'S WITH SKY HIGH WAGES AND PLAYERS WITH THE WRONG ATTITUDE EXAMPLE TEVEZ & BALOTELI (SPELLING)
MAN CITY HAVE SPENT OVER 155 MILLION ON STRIKERS IN THE PAST 3 SEASONS AND WE HAVE SPENT 35 ON CARROLL AND EVERYONE WANTS TO UNDERRATE HIM. I NO WHO AND WHO ISN'T SPENDING RIGHT.

I WOULD LIKE US TO SELL LOAN OR REMOVE 4 FREE: SOTO POULSEN NGOG DEGEN EL ZAR JONES COLE SHELVEY PACHECO AQULARNI JANAOVIC WILSON

AND REPLACE WITH: DANN OR CAHILL BASTOS OR ENRIQUE A.JOHNSON ELIA rodallega AND S. LONG

28 Jul 2011 22:28:58
hi eds and reds

I just hope we dont have too many injuries during the season..if we lost carrol and suarez or downing and say gerrard we r fecked..because i think we still lack the depth of other top 4 teams

The only worrying thing i thought about tonight is, why are we not playing close to the full side so they can get used to playing together. I watched Chelsea and United in their pre-season games and they play a lot of their first team players in these friendlies. And BTW to all those "Why don't we bid for Arda Turan?" Did u watch the match tonight? Thats why. He makes Yossi Benayoun look like Messi

KK, JH, DC we dont ask more much just give us something as crowd pleaser get us arda turan and we will forget and stop complaing about other transfers £11m-£14m will do it .i'd take arda or elia or mata over a cb we need flair, we cant just have luis be our only spark he'll end up like torres.

Hey Ed

Great site you have it is actually addictive as other shave posted before.
Can I just point out that although in KK we all believe im getting a tad worried about not only defence but strikers. Take Suarez out and we have a 7ft giant with pony tail. Sadly he has no speed and defenders have already worked him out...its going to his head so lets bussle him over. We are all moaning about midfield with Pulson etc (agreed hes a donkey) but if we have no imagination up front then we will truly flounder...

28 Jul 2011 22:20:11
Just a thought i think we should consider Zigic, i read today Man Citeh and Spurs were interested (this is probably the usual rubbish). But it got me thinking although many would feel he wasn't good enough he would be ok for a back up player considering his attributes and the way in which we we will be playing, even more so should Carrol get injured.

Ahoy - finally I have caved in, I have refrained from posting for over a month because of the narrow mindedness that has crept into the site. This has reached an all time low tonight with the degrading comments about selection and players tonight.

I support the club, and as such support the team - BIG DIFFERENCE

A pointless friendly with the kids and the stiffs playing doesn't matter THE CLUB is moving forward look where we were 12 months ago

Get off the computer games and understand the potential this group of players have. I witnessed an abysmal side away at Upton Park with Mike Marsh, Nicky Tanner and Mike Hooper starting, and when it got bad we brought on Don Hutchison and Paul Stewart - I still followed the team BUT SUPPORTED THE CLUB.

Get off the teams back, not one first teamer got injured tonight and we will be ready for Sunderland when the season starts.

I can only assume that the amount of naive and poorly thought out comments are due to the Summer Holidays.

Just wanted to know how many of the people on here who are slating Andy C will be back on here hailing him as LFC's number 9 when he's netted a few goals when the season starts
All football fans are fickle i know but we have to support the lad not bag him for a couple of dodgy performances in pre season
Just look at what he did when he was fully fit at the start of last season for NUFC who are definetly a worse team than we are or were
Give the boy a break and get behind the team.
Admittedly there are a few players who i think dont deserve to wear the shirt but we have to live with who they buy and who we've already got
i know i will probably get a lot of people disagreeing with this post but i don't mind as football is all about opinions and everyone is entitled to theirs so this is mine
Cheers eds great site keep up the hard, good work

Its all right every one slagging andy carol off he will be class for liiverpool he was the only player to get a chance on target its not his fault the playes supplying him were woeful just wait till we have the first teamers supplying him with quality ball he will be banging him people shouldnt be so quick to put the lad down if he, s not scored 20 goals by the end of the season ill eat my lap top lets not be so quick to judge

28 Jul 2011 21:56:47
Hi Ed tonights game just confirmed what we all know and that is Liverpools fringe players are not good enough, there is alot of disappointment on the site tonight and yet with everybody fit and available and a good attacking fast left back and a quality centrehalf signed before the start of the season we wont be a million miles away.

Would people stop calling today's team our "B" team? It wasnt even "B" it was more of a "F" team

28 Jul 2011 21:48:31
Hi Ed, just a quick one. Do You think its a good idea for Kenny to use our flops and reserves so late in pre season instead of trying to tune the players he brought for the first team and that will start? I know its only a pre season match and all the injury worries but if you look at other teams , they are playing their strong sides and are getting ready for the premiership-Chelski, MU. Dont know what to think of this. Especialy after tonights terrible match.Very dissapointed , hope its all a masterplan of King Kenny.

28 Jul 2011 21:43:32
To all those moaning about tonights game.
Here are some facts.
Team line up
Doni, Insua, Flanagan, Kyrgiakos, Kelly, Robinson, Degen, Shelvey, Poulsen, Cole, Carroll.

Right where are johnson, Reina, Gerrard?, Adam,
Downing, Henderson, Suarez.
Come on get real people some of these are fringe players in the shop window. So please everybody calm down and wait for the real lfc to turn up then we will see.

28 Jul 2011 21:41:43
Im sorry, but that performance was. EXTREMELY ****. As soon as I saw that the greek was captain, i knew we were in for a whooping. Tbf, gala did field a near full strength team and we fielded our reserves, youth and carroll. I felt sorry for carroll, as a striker myself i know how it feels to get the ball and receive no service. But we were woeful everywhere. Insua and kyrgio didn't know what they we doing, poulsen was crap and we couldn't pass the halfway line in the first half so you can't judge cole or carroll. The second half was better, Aquilani was good and kuyt and carroll were trying hard. But we were still s**t. I just hope that this will show we need to bring in some more reinforcements, especially in defence. But i guess we'll see vast improvement in Norway next week with a strengthened team.

28 Jul 2011 21:38:27
Listen, we are not being told anything new here We have a lot of players that we can't rely on. We already knew this & tonight showed us again why.

We have a core of about 17/19 players & I'm
including Flanno & Robinson in that. It's certainly not enough to go thru a league campaign. I'm not cetain that there will be many more players coming in but even if we did get say a LB, CB & another forward, that only brings it up to 22 players. Is that enough? Are we expecting FSG to ship out Ngog, Aqua, Insua, Degan, Soto, Poulsen, Jova, Cole & whoever else I've missed & replace every one this Summer?

Here's the players I've faith in & you're welcome to think of any I've missed.
Reina, Johnson, Kelly, Flanno, Robinson, Carra, Skrtel, Agger, Kuyt, Henderson, Lucas, Gerrard, Adam, Maxi, Downing, Carroll, Suarez, Meireles

It certainly doesn't look enough when you write it down, does it?

28 Jul 2011 21:38:12
This was our second string team and a top performance wasn't expected. However in saying that, a lot of these guys will be on our subs bench next season and it shows us up again for the lack of quality still in the squad.

I know we bought during the summer, but apart from Downing ( who at least is a winger ) our overall squad isn't looking any stronger than last season. I can't see a champs league spot for us with this team. We spent at lot of money, but we still need to buy at least 3 quality players to actually progress to having a decent squad and bench. Just my opinion, what do you all think?

28 Jul 2011 21:36:19
How are and where are our key players getting match fit? does anyone know. I have not seen them to much during this pre season. Where are they building this team spirit the winning habit and all that? I have seen nothing of it. It's only pre season you could say but isn't that what pre-season is all about?. When do the first 11 get a run out including the new signings? It's all looking like organised chaos and thats being gentle about it.

28 Jul 2011 21:34:17
After watching this eve, it is terrifying how crap the squad is beneath the first team. All we have proved with this friendly is that you would be crazy to take any of that rubbish off our hands. It looks like we might just be stuck with all those players until there contracts expire and if the owners have a policy now of selling before we buy, we probably have seen the last of our transfer activity for this summer and, all in all, I think Utd, Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Spurs have a better squad than we do. I hate to be pessimistic, but I just cannot see us getting top 4 this year. The depth just isn't there yet.

Ash

28 Jul 2011 21:30:10
Calm down calm down If we had beaten Hull and Galatasary 3-0 each, the same fans who are claiming we are s***te and need a load of signings would be tipping us to win the league, Olympic gold and probably Eurovision. Surely their is a strategy to do with fitness levels, trialling players at certain positions and to some degree shop windowing players (although the more managers see of Poulsen the less likely to sign)

Instead of panicking and sounding like the sort of fans who never really understood the offside trap, just consider the following. The 2nd half of the season we were 2nd best statistically. We have bought a few quality players to enhance what we have already. You wouldn't expect us to field that side against mediocre teams come league time.

Like I said calm down

28 Jul 2011 21:26:02
I heard on the grapevine that this was once a place for fans to discuss and share rumours with other fans........ Turns out it was was only a rumour. Cuz all i can find is moaning minnies and champ manager professionals who think the could do better.... Show some support FFS the Season hasn't even begun yet

it was a pre season friendly with hardly any first team players get a grip

28 Jul 2011 21:23:59
Come on people, I saw the starting line up and thought here we go, seriously you expected to win? Only Carroll will start come 13th, Flano had a good first half and Poulsen was a donkey, was afew good thing and alot of bad, but hey thats pre-season.

Now if that was our starting 11 then yes I would be sh*tting it and posting what alot of you are but, and its a big BUT it ain't so why worry. Hopefully it will give KK a real insight of who he really needs to shift and who can do a job. Over a month left of the transfer window and the last two games have not only highlighted a lot of things but have also reinforced them, think about it.

And to all you that say its obvious who should leave, think about Lucas. I personally was never a doubter infact most of it was media lead. To the Aquaman lovers he don't love you so we should get rid end of. Anybody else who wants to stay should be given fair chance to prove themselves once it is clear to management that they don't make the grade, I have little doubt they will be shipped out. KK does not suffer fools gladly.

28 Jul 2011 21:23:49
in my mind we need 3 more signings:
aly cissokho-insua
scott dann-krygiakos
moussa sissoko-poulsen

aly cissokho presents lots of pace and is way better than enrique.
dann prem exp solid scouser pride on shirt unlike some.
moussa sissoko is a strong athletic midfielder great engine better than what we have

prices:
cissokho 12m
sissoko 12m
dann 8m
32m more to spend to add that squad depth we need.

It's time for another weekly Match report from me, unfortunately it was a grim and dark match in the return to Istanbul.

But before that I must talk a tad about News, they have suggested that Valencia and Arsenal have agreed terms of £13.5 million; this isn't true and don't be fooled. Also Jovanovic is nailed on to move to Anderlecht, going by his agent which we all know Agents are always right :O SSN also links us with Dann but says we have to unload more players first, these are the Poulsens, Jova, Aquaman and Degens of the world.

Now onto a grim 3-0 slaughter at the hands to Galatasaray. The team were the worst I have ever seen under Dalglish and no doubt that is due to the shop window, cough, I mean team we played. I mean come on Degen, Poulsen, Cole and Insua all starting. O_O The worst player was Cole throughout the whole match IMO, why, well because although he showed more spirit and fight than anyone else he was terrible. Aside the poor long shots, acts of selfishness, lack of ball control, lack of pace and the fact he was useless at passing, on the odd occasion he passed. Yeah yeah yeah I know he is trying to prove himself but he has made one more enemy after that performance. Best Liverpool player? What liverpool player I was watching a shop window for the most of the match.

Alas there was ONE moment we shouldn't forget and that is Elmander's volley, sweet maccaroni was it amazing. And, yeah I know I said one point but, meh, we did deafen our ear drums with the sound of the official worlds loudest stadium O_O and TBF it was loud for most of the match, not including the 5 minutes of the ball we had at the begining of the second half.

And on another sour note Arda Turan was an animal, he literally has the control of Messi but guess what, he plays for a crap team and is available, if only he wanted to join Liverp----- WAIT ONE SEC he is a die hard Liverpool fan, I may be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 7 but Dalglish please snap him up, he was my MOTM.

See you guys next week (Monday)

The Next ;)

were is fabio aurelio havent seen him in any off the training pics and he hasn't been involved in any of the friendly's

28 Jul 2011 21:21:25
KK will field a much stronger side in the next 2 friendlies. Our 1st team is much better than the team that played tonight. But watching this must concern everyone that our squad in depth is just not strong enough to challenge for honours.

28 Jul 2011 21:20:55
insua looked out of his depth mind you he would look out of his depth in a fu, .;ng puddle

28 Jul 2011 21:20:08
this is why i love LIVERPOOL - we play a 2nd/3rd string side vs a strong Gala side away in pre-season and the wannabees get beaten 3-0 seriously never stood a chance, with 7-10 first teamers at home - and we are pssed off We hate losing - any game vs anyone, with any team playing in LFC shirts.

This is why I support LFC YNWA

28 Jul 2011 21:17:54
hi eds i don't think we should panic about the friendlies as they are only friendlys with much weakned side do you think he will be competitive next season and also do you think carroll can prove his worth.thanks

28 Jul 2011 21:17:51
Completely distraught with today's performance. Kenny said in his statement before the game that the lads who don't feature tonight will form the team on Monday. Therefore I'm assuming most our first team will be part of that squad. My question with tonight's selection is, Gala are obviously a much stronger side than Valarenga, surely we should have let the new signings and all the first team players get a 60 minute run out. Perhaps pair Adam and Aquilani, see how they click in midfield with Lucas behind them? Have Hendo and Downing out on the wings. Carroll and Kuyt leading the line?
Anyone who replies saying, ohhhh how can you question Kenny's judgement I will hunt you down If Kenny were to take the whole team down to the Thames and jump in, will you follow him blindly? I have no doubts on his ability but the whole point of pre-season is to get the team ready for the premier league only a third of players on show tonight will be getting any game time this season, WHAT WAS THE POINT?
If I were a Gala fan I would definately be over the moon but heavily disappointed to have come to see a challenge from one of the biggest teams in Europe and ended up seeing dross like Poulsen, Cole, Degen on the pitch tonight.
Valencia will have an absolute field day if we star even half the players on that list tonight, hope for all our sakes that is not the case.
Having said that, we still have Reina, Carra, Skrtel, Agger, Aurelio, Johnson, Adam, Meireles, Hendo, Gerrard, Downing, SUAREZ and Carroll so not worrying too much. I just hope the first team are locked away somewhere, secretly training together, gelling EFFING HOPE

The most basic positional aspect of football is to avoid ball watching. How can a player in Ensua, playing at the level he is, get caught out ball watching like he does. It drove me crazy the other season and must of accounted for at least 15 points lost. The lad is f***ing useless. I hope to god we can get rid and never have to play him in the first team.

If I was to produce a report in my line of work and it was incorrectly presented, the errors would be highlighted by the management and the same mistakes won't arise again. Why is Ensua allowed to get away with a basic aspect of football. Does the t**t listen on the training pitch.

This deadwood issue is massive, I just hope it isn't a case of waiting for the end of contracts in order for us to move forward. Benitez has alot to anwer for.

ive just sat and watched what i can only decribe as s**te. everybody is saying lfc need a lb well after watching lfc against gala, poulsen shelvey and kelly can all become lbs, yes your correct left back in england. the greek, insua and doni should be rbs, right back in the reserves. utter load of trash, i hope kk has learnt something from this game like were short of a lot of quality players and we wont win nowt with those that played tonight.

To the people who think Carrol cost us 'roughly the same' as Aguero?... Are you joking
From what I'm told Carrol has signed a 5 year contract on approx £75k per week and cost £35m...
Aguero has signed a 5 year contract on £200k per week, and cost £35m...
I have also heard that the £200k is AFTER TAX, which if true, is eye watering
Even if we ignore city paying the tax, bonuses etc..., you can expect City to pay approx £83m over 5 years...
Carroll would be £53m...
NOT 'basically the same...'

P.s - if City pay the tax add on another 30-40 million.

I half heartedly watched the game tonight...it's a friendly after all...I'm doubt the players were that bothered either...according to the BBC it's 27c there at the moment. If I was a player I am not sure i'd be that bothered about anything other than a bit of a work out...

28 Jul 2011 21:02:32
The only thing that concerns me about pre-season friendlies, is injurys. But i'm with most people on here and can't understand why we had to play this friendly? Why did we fly half way across the world to play this game?

This is a very, very strange choice of opponent, to play a pre-season friendly. It's bad enough having to travel to Turkey and play in the CL and Europa League, never mind a friendly.

The only thing that we discovered tonight is, Joe Cole can play a full 90 mins.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. I really don't understand why we played this game??????????????????

Dalglish told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It's an important game for everyone. It's important for the players to continue the work they've done in training.

"We've got to increase the number of minutes for as many of the players as we possibly can to get them closer to being match fit for August 13''.

I bloody put my hands up to the Lord and beg that this is not the team that starts on august 13th FFS..

With two weeks till the season begins, were playing a friendly that is supposed to allow new players to bed in and the manager to figure out our best starting eleven. Why on earth dont we have any first teamers playing? What has happened to Johno? I know he tweaked his hamstring but that was a few weeks back. Skrtel was missing from the asia tour coz his wife was givin birth.......how many is she droppin? Shes been in labour 4 a month now Agger? Aurelio? When is Reina back from his op? Why are all our players missing??

28 Jul 2011 20:27:26
First time poster only 2 changes so far would have tought after that first half kk would have subbed the whole team if this was his intention why not just bring the reserves/under 18;s and let them have a go im sure they would have had more pride when wearing the liverpool shirt but at least bringing on 2 class players has made a vast difference had we had a more like first team im sure we would have run away with this game

28 Jul 2011 20:26:38
I'm just hoping Kenny's mindseti s to avoid risking the key first team players against a physical Galatasaray side.

To all you Aquaman followers? Where's the flambouyant range of passing now against a tem wiling to press? He just won't cut it in the premiership.

Has cole forgotten how to drop the shoulder and turn direction or does he just run in straight lines now untill he loses the ball.

Enusua, do i actually need to say anything about the Burger muncher? My god i'v seen better on a sunday morning.

Have to say like Macca says least we know our second strind is pretty poor.We got some good players to come back so not worried but we still need more quality in vital areas, but KK will need time to gradually weed out the weak and keep reinfocing the squad.

A. The person who questions kenny should support other teams. (according to some)
B. According to people like "red will" if you question him that implies we want him out and we are glory hunters. Who become liverpool fans after champions league final 2005.

You see some are better liverpool fans according to few idiots. Its ok they don't get that we all love our club to core.

What an absolute joke. I hope Reina remains fit because this Doni guy looks dodgy as hell. Slow off his line and cant kick it either. From what i've seen of kelly at centre half, i would much rather him at right back. Positioning has been poor from him an the greek. I cant tell who is right an who is left out of the two. Shelvey is ok on the ball but when he loses it he doesnt even turn to chase, seems like he has a lazy attitude. Joe cole has spent most of the time on the deck and as for Carroll.........1 shot that just about rolled out for a throw i think pffff. Cant comment on robinson, degen and insua coz they havnt contributed whatsoever. I wont even mention the other 1. Why do they all s**t themselves when the ball comes near? OMG, i've got more composure than these players who apparently are part of a much improved squad that can challenge for CL qualification. Can't understand why we have gone to turkey for this. Humiliation isn't the word. No chance that we will ever sign Turan now after he has seen this poop. SORT IT OUT KENNY, IM BORED. ps build up to second goal was well offside.

We would be better playing Carroll, Kelly, and the other 9 players from our promising youngsters who do have a future at the club

Another pre-season game wasted with nothing to show or gain from.

28 Jul 2011 20:03:34
This is shocking, theres no pattern to the play and clearly no character within this bunch. Whats the crack? Is Kenny having to play some of these in an attempt to put them in the shop window with a view to getting rid because if he is I think theres more chance of 'platting fog' than there is in selling the likes of Poulsen and Deggan. Cole is useless. Wheres Carrolls support? The defence is a shambles. Kenny should've prioritised the defence in the transfer window instead of crowding out the midfield. If we don't get this sorted, we may as well forget top four next season.

I've got mates who follow Stoke and from all accounts Scott Dann has all but dotted the I's and crossed the T's. It's just a matter of agreeing personl terms. Cahill likely to go to Arsenal, especially if he's watching this crap. Furthermore, I stated that I did'nt think kelly was ready for the centre half role and judging tonights performance this has been borne out. We therefore are in desperate need of a good comanding centre half.

My optimism is starting to welt.

28 Jul 2011 20:14:13
I am hopefull that LFC will break into the top 4 next season. That hope would be reinforced if LFC sign Dann, Jensen and Johnson.

This would carry our total spending to around £90million. The sales of Meireles, Aqualani, Poulsen and Jovanovic would recoup £30million.

Pacheo and Shelvey to go on loan, with potential to sell. These lads have talent and could fetch up to £10million each if they get the chance to prove themselves.

28 Jul 2011 20:03:11
Errm i am seriously at a loss to explain why we are playing this friendly. What the hell do we expect to get out of this, other than an embarassing drubbing?

There can be no positives whatsoever from what i am seeing. It is poor beyond belief. In fact it'll serve to stir the pot up where the negative doom mongers hang out.

The team selection is totally baffling. If we are going to play this type of side, then it isn't really worth watching it whatsoever and making any kind of judgment from it.

Other than confirming just how crap some of these players are and we need little more of that rammed down our throats.

Insua hung out to dry like a naive kid for the first goal and Poulsen took the 'keep your eye on your man' to a whole new level. The only time we looked so so was when Degen, Poulsen, Insua, Cole was kept off the ball. Shelvey's on what Winehouse was taking and Kyriagos is actually proving the impossible he's lost three yards of pace he never had

Word of advice to all, switch off now and save yourself some grief, otherwise you'll think some tw*t has turned the clock back 12 months and not told us.

First time poster. Must say was a bit bamboozled by the team selection and went on a downer. But, not to be beaten I started to think about it, Kelly being put in as CB and seeing if Robo and Flanno can perform away and against Galatasaray will/should give Kenny something to think about. Also, if they can perform when all around are not then this will bode well when they play with the main players. Carroll needs the exercise and so too J Cole (if he stays) although it might be my monitor but he's looking slimmer in the face

shelvey is the absolute dogs......POO, what on earth was hodgson thinking, we are now seeing why he was COMPLETELY the wrong man to manage our team, just look at the utter rubbish he brought to our club, shelvey may be young but he will NEVVV.......NEEVVVEEEEE.....NEEVVVVVVVVVEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR make it, he's trash, he show's zero promise, zero class, zero finnese, his touch is poor, and i've actually read on here he's a potential next steven gerrard, what an insult to a true liverpool legend, he's awful, get him out on loan or sell him to as lower league a team as possible so we never have to see that silly shiny head ever again in our shirt, thanks alot roy, poulsen, cole, shelvey, what the heck were you thinking, oh and thank you rafa for degen and aquilani, 2 god awful players, how will we ever get rid of this trash, simple, ONLY when there contracts run out, until then, we can forget going forward because we won't be adding top class players to our squad while were paying muppets like this nearly hundred grand a week, pathetic

28 Jul 2011 19:53:08
I know its just a friendly but its a 2nd rate team playing 2nd rate football. What is the point? It will do us more harm playing a team that shouldn't get anywhere the first 11, confidence will be low, prospective transfer targets will look at this + say no thanks. Can we please see some decent players on for the 2nd half

We are hopeless tonight in this match . Why are we only playing deadwood players, we are meant to be preparing for coming season and these players are useless and no where near first teamers. We have to get a nucleus going on pitch in ore season. And if he is trying to use these games to sell off the deadwood it ain't gonna work because they playing dirt. I have a rant really.. Life long liverpool fan and find myself so so disappointed at the depth in the side, having watched the friendly last week against hull and watching as week speak against Galatasaray, our back up players couldn't even grace a league 1 side let alone a team to be contending for the premiership Pathetic and embarrassing to watch as a fan

i'd be pretty happy to see liverpool PAY poulsen to go away, he's a fu**ing joke, this 1st half performance is utter shi*e, what on earth kenny, so all the players not playing 2nite will feature in our next friendly, WHY, we have new players who should be getting game time, gelling in with one another, not sat watching the games, this friendly is why liverpool fc will not suceed for another 1 - 2 years, because this 2nd string team we all pretty much won't sold won't be, who on EARTH would buy trash like some of these players were watching here tonight, desire - none, quality - none, this could be quite embaressing by 90 miutes, nothing on the bench can change this game, because we can't change the whole team

28 Jul 2011 19:47:34
we need to sort our defence out big time before the start of the season

28 Jul 2011 19:47:00
i cant watch this rubbish anymore
i dont care whos on the team sheet.................they are still wearing the jersey...
and they should bloody be more aggressive and pass the ball better..UNDER PRESSURE..and not hoof it away as if the opposition have the plague...

its embarassing

28 Jul 2011 19:45:38
Poulsen looking where..f**king if he looked at ball it would have been better...shocking player in LFC Colours....disgrace.

I've never seen a greater show of spirit, desire and fight.
True heroes and champions of the people.

If this current crop could muster just half the grit and desire shown by that class, I see no reason why we shouldn't steamroller our way to glory.

Passion, fight and grit have always been traits most typical of LFC more than any other; our greatest strength.
If Kenny can put these lads minds into shape, the LFC we may very well surprise many nxt season.

Lastly, ed, what would the implications be for the FFF rules if the rumoured breakaway from Uefa/ were to materialize?

People its simple as to why we didn't buy aguero, or mata, or sanchez or any other player of a similar standing. We can't.

The lfc name isn't what it was in the 80s. We can't offer money (like city) champs league (like arsenal) trophies ( like utd) or even a title challenge ( like chelsea) all we have is a name which has fallen a lot over last two years. Be patient and in 5 years these players will want us again

hi eds and fellow reds, i just cant for the life of me see why we are playing that team tonight, its mostly players we are trying to get shut of, so if they play crap we will have less chance to get rid of them, i would have thought pre season friendlies is to get yr mostly starting 11 chance to play together, which we haven't seen at all this tour,

I'm sure this is far and away the busiest page on this site but so much negativity?
I don't understand it, some of the signings made may not have been what I expected or hoped for but I can see KKs plan. Who knows if it'll work but it's as good a plan as any Liverpool manager has had for many years to try and win the title.
I'm sure KK and DC haven't finished yet and the season is still a way away. Can't we all start with faith, belief, trust and a little optimism? If the great man was here today reading some of the nonsense on this site he would wonder if this great quote of his was still true:

People are saying that we will replace Arsenal in the top 4. Realistically they wiLl be as good as us with a front 3 of RVP, Mata & Gervinho. We are deluding ourselves by saying that we only need to buy players that are just good enough to get us a top 4 finish. Even if Fabregas & Nasri are sold they would have generated enough money to by another world class centre midfielder to compliment Wilshere & Walcott.

Alberto Aquilani's move from Liverpool to Fiorentina is still on - agent

Agent of Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani insists that a move to Fiorentina is still a possibility, despite reports that the deal had broken down.

The two clubs had been in talks over a loan move with an option to purchase at the end of the season, but the Italy international is keen on securing a permanent move right away.

Agent Franco Zavaglia has said talks are set to continue as he keeps the door open for the Liverpool man, who is eager to return to Serie A following his loan spell at Juventus last season.

"The transfer is not at risk, and we remain with the possibility [of a move happening], " Zavaglia told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"There are no ultimatums as you never launch ultimatums in football.

"I don't know what has been reported in England, but I can say the player, having understood he is no longer a part of the plans at Liverpool, wants a permanent solution.

"But the deal is not at risk, we are just waiting."

________________________________________

So Aquilani from the starts was not in Kenny's plans hence the reason for signing Henderson and Adam. We need to see the back of Aquilani in order to add a LB and a CB to the squad. If we get rid of Jova, Ngog, Insua, Poulsen and CO then we might see more players added...

I don't think any player who is in champions League want to a Club which has not have European Competition unless they looks for More money. I think Mata and Aguero may have want champions League football and thats why kenny don't want them. And he had learnt lessons from Spain based players in the form Torres. And, if we pursued to buy them there is chance for these players requesting transfer next year or so. And, Champions league has the power to make the players believes that they had to be in there when they tasted once.
And, many of the Liverpool fans has been slagging the signings of our very own king who they beg to takeover from Roy Hodgson. And the one who gives us a respectable Season. And the one who pulled a wonderful signing of Suarez.
Poor fans has been Slagging King's signings even before they make a appearence for Club. We have to wait till the end of the season to get a view on Kenny and his Signings.

What's up with all the negativity.

Don't look at the players being brought in and comparing them to players YOU think will/might be better.

Trust the judgement of those in charge as it is their heads on the line IF it fails.

However, I can't see it failing as the quality of the squad is being improved.

We've never had strength in depth (at least not for many many years) and we are now getting that. Also you can say that Adam plugs a hole left by the Alonso out transfer 2 years ago - so that's a plus.

Downing is a plus as we needed a winger. Also he is effectively replacing Jovanovish, so double plus.

Henderson is a top rated England international prospect. Highly under-rated by too many so called LFC fans. His stats don't lie. He is an addition that add quality and more depth to the squad, so plus again. He will effectively be replacing Poulsson (even if he doesn't go) so again double plus.

Don't forget from when KK took over we we joint second on form from that point onwards. The squad has been improved and we are getting players into positions where we were having to make do with lower quality or players having to play out of position. So again ANOTHER PLUS

I can see one or two more signings before the close of the window. Any left back will be a major improvement over Konchesky, so again another plus.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

A team is being built. A unit that plays effectively together. Not a team of individuals. Give me a suposed slightly lower quality player that wants to play for my team anyday over someone perceived to be better, but is there for the money.

Our style of play is evolving and will continue to do so, but we are now more unpredictable in our approach to goal. We are no longer reliant on one or twop players. We've got threat from set pieces again. We've got attacking players left and right that can interchange and make space.

It's going to be exciting to watch.

Even if we don't finish in the top four this year we are going to be near the top and playing better than last year. If we played the first half of last year as well as the 2nd half, we would've been in with a shout of 2nd (if not 1st) and that is before the summer additions so far.

BE POSITIVE FOR F**S SAKE

With Aguero's buy-out clause being 38m, we could have signed him in January with the money from Torres. However, Dalglish chose Carroll as the man to replace Torres. Dalglish is no person and Alan Hansen said he knows more about football than anyone he knows. As we signed Carroll in January I think Kenny must rate him as a better signing than Aguero. I trust Kenny so, though obviously Aguero is a quality player, I'm just as excited about the thought of Andy Carroll in full flow

So we are looking for a quality winger on the opposite side. Such a large slection to choose from Turan, Mata, Cazorla, Ruiz, Affelay...no forget that lets chase jarvis instead (basically the same player as downing except with a bit more pace and cheaper). This British obsession is becoming painful to bare. We may have a better manager than last year but the quality of signings is only slightly better, we are aiming far to low with our signings so we should be prepared to finish lower than previous expectations.

The moaners continue to moan. What a bunch of twits. KK, DC and the new owners have done a fantastic job since they arrived at the club. For a net cost of £40m we have replaced Torres and Babel and with Downing, Adam, Henderson, Carroll and Suarez (cracking business). Kelly, Flanagan, Robinson and Spearing have made the breakthrough and there are others ready to do so. A fully fit Kelly will be marauding down the right flank together with Henderson who can pass and move has a terrific engine and great stats. Left backs will be crapping in their pants at the prospect. Adam at his Blackpool best but surrounded by better players will provide ammunition and superb set play. Downing will provide width and bucket loads of crosses and assist. A fit Carroll will bully and destroy centre backs all around the country. Suarez has proven that he is undoubtedly world class. Henderson, Adam and Downing have great stats and will create numerous assists for their teammates. Suarez and Carroll will have the chances to fill their boots. Add to this a fit Stevie G and it very happy days. Anything extra in the remaining transfer window will be a bonus. Reality Red

Exactly what's your problem, people?
Where in my post do I slag off Kenny?
And why would I want to do that when after the Hull game I was remonstrating with those who were on the man's back to just let the man get on with his job?

I stated clearly that the point of that post was the fact people have been so welcoming of Hendo, Adam, Downing and Carroll says more about their faith in Kenny than the players' abilities.

I stand by my POV that had it been Benitez or Hodgson who spent circa £80m on those players, there would've been an unending cacophony of moans and groans, absolute outrage.

And can anyone honestly, honestly argue that point?
I seriously doubt it. I personally wouldn't.
Personally, the main reason why I'm happy to give those players a chance is because of Kenny.

As I said in my last post, Kenny's no Tom, person or Harry, or Roy Hodgson for that matter, no.
He's the greatest servant of this club who's brought to the club so much glory, as a player and as manager.
There's no other than him who knows this club's ways.

I'm not going to lie to you and say Hendo, Adam, Downing and Carroll would've been my first choices, or that I was exactly blown away by their signings, no.

I did have my preferences, but-- as I stated in my post on Sunday-- that point has lost its relevance.
Hendo, Adam, Downing and Carroll are our players and are due my unconditional backing (as is every LFC employee), which I'm more than happy to give.

Folk, intentionally or otherwise, completely missed my point.
Perhaps John Wigan was right that I should've written in words of a one syllable.

The last thing I'm interested in are discussions regarding whether or not we should've signed any of the players we've signed.
It's now irrelevant. We've signed them and should support them.

Any debate relating to their merits should only be in terms of their role in Kenny's plans.
From now on going forward, that's the important point worthy of discussion.

Lastly, I'd just like to rubbish with the contempt it deserves the despicable fallacy that's become entrenched in most Brits' minds that if he's "Prem-proven, he's a much a higher risk".
What utter gibberish.

Talent and largely a willingness and determination to integrate and adapt are the chief variables which determine whether a player makes it or not in any team, any league.

There innumerable foreign players who got the "Prem-unproven, will be kicked off the field" label but went on to do good/great things.
Recent ones being Torres, Suarez, Silva.

The things that are being said now about Mata "not up to the rigors" of the Prem were said of David Silva last year.
How many dismissed Torres in '07?
How many, when we signed Suarez, spew the "the Dutch league is no Prem" mantra?
What are they saying now?

How have some, or perhaps many, of the supposed "Prem-proven" players fared at the top clubs over the years? Parker at Chelsea? Wright Phillips? Keane? Bridge? etc.

Of course, many a foreign player has failed in the Prem.
But defo NOT because they were "Prem-unproven".
Most simply weren't actually good enough (Afonso/Alfonso at the top of my head); some the determination and willingness to integrate simply wasn't there, in spite of their clear ability (Aquilani).

I wish people would stop spewing this "Prem-unproven" drivel. It's so Aunty Gray, and surely that's inherently NO good thing.
Try to move away from such mentalities. Bloody fictional... and ridiculous too.

Burmeister
Ps: ed, were you "Prem-proven" before coming to work on this site? I most certainly wasn't, yet I'm one of the best players on this terrain that is "Liverpool FC Banter"; certainly the most authoritative... I'm sure Sir Bob the Red can attest to that fact.

Arda Turan, Scott Dann, Marcell Jansen should be bought "imo". People going on about us needing a backup striker? I think people are forgettin about Dirk Kuyt, him and Suarez can link up really well, there was signs of it the last half of the season Kuyt an Suarez were on the same wave length. Scott Dann can be our rock, excellent solid defender and scouse LFC fan which will make him play with more heart. Arda Turan is a very tricky skillful player who can create chances and also score them. Then Jansen is a powerful no nonsense LB who can move the ball forward. They are all players who are excellent in their positions and can grow even more as players with KK and SC guiding them.

Im sure this will be shot down in flames but with the new ground situation dragging on further just thought i'd give my thoughts.

The club say they would like to redevelop Anfield due to it being the cheaper option. However this will prevent us ever getting past 60,000 capacity - therefore never get close to United on match day attendences/revenue. The new ground is clearly the best long term option for the club with the capacity to expand further if and when needed.

If finding the cash for the new ground is a issue why not bite the bullet and build a shared stadium. this would obviously half construction and running costs. I understand the rivalry between the clubs however its the same in Milan, Rome, Munich etc etc. Bayrn Munich are a fincial force in europe despite playing in the Bundersliege and thier ground is a sight to behold.

Imagine how successful something similar would be in the richest league in the world.

Would put match day revenue at the top of the prem and running costs at the bottom. would also allow the clubs to develop land around the new ground and create a leisure village (hotels, bars, cassino etc) where visitors can stay the weekend pumping money in to the club/ local econamy)

WE have been paying about £400 K a week since the end of last season in wages for the deadwood, that money could and should have been used to pay off at least 2 contracts and got rid of the 2 players least likely too sell, DC and KK have missed the boat on this issue.

28 Jul 2011 13:12:50
Wasn't suprised my last post was printed but i'm just getting pissed right off with the negativity with some of the fans who seem to have a very short memory of where we where this time last season we're our net spend in the transfer window was roughly plus 2 mil. Its the previous regime's fault why the players referered to as dead wood are on such high wages and as such they want to sit on their asse and pick up their check at the end of the month. It wasn't their fault that Parry and co were stupid enough to offer them massive contracts that in no way reflected their ability. Like someone mentioned we've bought players who'll put their heart and soul into the club and are f***in quality players to go with it. Henderson is the most under rated of the lot of em but as sure as night follows day he'll have a massive role to play in our success next season. Adam, betwenn him and Shay Given will turn out to be bargain of the season, the sweetest left peg in the Prem but i'm sure Stew Downing would have something to say about that. Watch Big Andy and Luis terrorise defences next season. We do need a dominant centre half which i'm 99.9% sure will be here and a left back would be nice. We need to get the so called dead wood off the books before we should go for another midfielder or a back up striker. Dont think Dirk Kuyts to bad myself anyhow. We aint in the C.league and until we are which will be next season and our revenue increases and also the lure of C.L football, you never know we night even see Hazzard in a Liverpool shirt if he stays at Lille, maybe even in Jan if der f***ed in the C.L and were right up their. We might not even think camout him who knows? But i.m.o we're a centre half and left back short of really putting a sustained challenge for a top 4 finish even higher with the most lethal and dangerous strike partnership in the Prem . Hi eds, fellow reds, I'm watching the Philippines v kuwait match, kuwait is 95th ranked team and Philippines is I think 152nd ranked, this is the 2nd leg though, we lost 3-0 at Kuwait so we're praying for an istanbul kind of miracle, so far we're doing good, Stephan Shrock(att. Mid) just scored a screamer right before the halftime whistle Need two more goals to get extra time Maybe you guys can throw in prayersthaks and hopefully Liverpool can come here in the coming years Lots of reds here

Firstly great sites guys see how maybe repetitive questions you get :)
I think KD has been very shrewd this transfer window so far, he has brought players who will take no time to get used to the premiership have good experience and will hit the ground running, Of course they will need time to gel but I think we have brought proven premiership players over the odds perhaps but look at the state of the transfers lately what is the norm what is over inflated they are out of control. one thing is they will teach the youngsters players a wealth of experience which can only be good moving forward but as far as I am aware (no facts) we have not actually paid out all that much 40 million or so?
I think with the new additions who are very good players and plenty of potential I think we will do better then people think. There are areas of the squad that need att CB LB as people mention but I am sure that will be addressed just a case of being logical and understanding they have to get players out who are eating so much of the wages and stopping us potentially getting new recruits, lets not worry about what others teams are doing and spending and being linked with- lets get behind the squad support them the good days wont be far away- We have amazing fans and a great club we stick together were be back challenging ;)

i wish everyone would stop asking if we are going to sign mata no were not we already have loads of mids and wingers why would we want another one and personaly downing is better anyway

28 Jul 2011 12:47:21
Another disapointing summer, with lots of targets missed, although Andy Carroll will be a asset, however
at the £35 million for him or £35 mil on kun Aguero, id know who i would want, we are crying out for width and we buy henderson and adam when we dont need central mids, then we hear we need to get rid of the deadwood in the team and nobody wants them so we are stuck and while we are stuck awaiting for some mug to buy our deadwood we are missing out on quality players like aguero, mata, carzola etc so as i said another disappointing summer and maybe 5, 6th place is on other again this season.

i do not see why we want to loan aqulani by each year he is losing value due to age we may aswell keep him Also throughout all 3 preseason games he has looked the best player we have yes maybe he was a flop in his first season due to his fitness but last season for juve he played 33 games is that not enough to show his fitness? also ED who do you believe our next signing will be and how many more do you think we will sign? thanks ED {Ed002's Note - I have no idea who the next signing will be. Sorry.}

Everyone is getting so carried away, with not having a football superstar in the team...we didn't go for Aguero for a reason. He doesn't fit into KK's plan of how he is re-structuring and rebuilding the team.

So who cares if City get Aguero, Arsenal get Mata, etc...just look forward to the team we have and getting back to playing football the right way this season.

I can't wait

Some people on here seem to be forgetting that there's still over a month left of the transfer window.

Why are people complaining about "business is not moving quick enough" - as long as it is done by August 31st and it's right for the club, why does it matter that it's not happening right now?

Did we not see this coming? KK and DC hinted that for a while there will be no new signings after Downing.

Creating space in our budget surely is not done in one day Why are so many seemingly panicking about the lack of transfers. Plenty of time left for us and there are plenty of quality players still available for us...

Aqua will be gone and so will many of the fringe players mentioned - KK and DC wont be bullied.

I think KK sees Dirk as a striker and will use him as such. Will be very surprised if a new CB does not join, but refuse to panic about the seemingly quiet spell in the transfer market.

IN the Liverpool Way I trust

How about some "Liverpool Reality" rather than "Liverpool Rumour" for a moment.

Aguero to City and potentially Mata to Arsenal show that until we have Champions League Football to offer, we will not attract the top draw players that fans keep rattling on about.

In the mean time we must make do with run of the mill signings that don't exactly make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

People need to stop posting "wish lists" on here that have no base in reality.

Don't waste your time getting excited about a marquee signing before the window shuts - we will not be making one. As Rafa would say "FACT"

I think like most people I'm getting a little frustrated with the lack of recent activity that saw us develop our squad well in the first few weeks of the transfer window. BUT, and this is a big but, we are saddled with some huge costs that have to be offloaded - Yes the other leading clubs are making their moves now, we need to be realistic and see what we can dispose of between now and the end of the window.

Personally, I don't expect us to 'limp' to the Jan transfer window as the team we now have and the management structure is SOOO far ahead of this time last year and most of the ten years previously. We can look ahead with some nervous excitement and a hell of a lot of hope.

The Aquillani thing really pisses me of though - either stay or go. Stop fecking around and make the decision.

I hope that we as a club have learned our lesson well on inflated 'free transfers' for the likes of Cole and Jovanvic.

All being well there will be more to come in, I hope that Mata stays where he is, as he would be a great addition to Arsenal and make them a competitive threat (if they keep Fabregas and Nasri).

Would still like to see Honda in an LFC team, maybe that will have to wait until Jan - when the owners have evaluated their need to invest in the players more. I hope so....

WTF is going on with liverpool, follow the site daily, some good goss and some really crap reports,

couple of pointers from last couple of days,

1. wtf is this character aquilani all about, wants to stay, but wants to move, the liverpool stance i always remember is "if the player does not want to play for the club + respect the club, then off you go, bye bye...........my view, sell aquilani and accept the massive loss on him, blame benitez for it......

2. Mata, possibly in talks with Arsenal, for £15-17.5 million, lol, , , , , , that needs addressing asap, surely Mata finishes our midfield off, ( only reports he in talks )

2. Deadwood. lets face it,

jova
degen
cole
ngog
jones etc are not going to bring alot of money but are on silly contracts,

were still in the shadow of hicks and gillet, lose these players somehow, anyway you can, take the loss, were still not top 4 material until we sort our,

lb cb rw and backup striker and that will cost us in the season,

what you think ed.

Dann,
baines or enrique
mata?? big deal...
take a chance on defoe.

Apparently Arsenal are closing in on 15 million signing of Mata. SSN report his release clause is apparently only around 13.5 million..........what a joke, and we pay 20 for Downing. I think Kenny is being blinded by his British obsession..........anyone else agree?

28 Jul 2011 11:31:43
Is anyone else feeling a little underwhelmed at our team rebuilding?
Seeing players like Aguero, Mata, Afellay etc... signed/linked with direct opposition are 'we' feeling excited or frustrated at who we have signed (too exspensively in my view) instead?

28 Jul 2011 11:30:53
Wake up and smell the coffee, time for a massive dose of reality. Either appreciate the so called "second rate" signings we have made and appreciate the so called "second rate" signings we will make before the end of the window, get on side with Kenny or go support MAN CITY so you can carry on talking bulls**t about AGUERO and the likes. We are not the best club in the world, we are not the best club in Europe, we aren't even the best club in the premier league So why oh why do 90% of you muppets expect players like Aguero and Pastore to sign for the club? Considering the posistion the club has been in the last year i personally feel that KK & DC have done amazing to bring in the players they have, Carrol, Suarez, Henderson, Adam & Downing all add something to the team. Quit dreaming, turn off FM11 & FIFA11 and welcome to the real world where the TOP players want to play for the TOP teams in the TOP competitions for TOP wages. SimplesWE ARE NOT CURRENTLY A TOP TEAM Give this squad a season and if we STILL aren't a TOP team then start your bitching, but please, until then give the players and management the backing and support that REAL fans would

Seriously tired of the nasty, back stabbing, delusional, unrealistic bulls**t that is getting posted on here

28 Jul 2011 11:19:14
alright eds ?
i was just wondering whether liverpool have still got intrest in Arda Turan ?
because i feel he would be an excellent buy to support our strike force.
Please let me know.
Taa :) {Ed002's Note - Arda Turan will move this summer and looked Atletico Madrid bound, perhaps the move is awaiting Aguero to be sold so that funds are available, but now things appear to be changing. Dortmund, apparently, remain interested but Villarreal and Spurs appear have dropped any interest that they had. I suspect Valencia and Chelsea are keeping a watchful eye on matters but to try and persuade Chelsea to let go of Drogba, Galatasaray have rather surprisingly offered up Arda as part of the deal. I have no idea why Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

pls post ...

city get aguero ..
arsenal chase ..mata and hazard ..
we are just twindling our fingers as usual
cant believe KK hasnt put in any bids for these quality players. reality check .. is adam, downing, henderson .. enough to get back into champions league ? you goto be joking {Ed002's Note - "Kenny Out" then.}

Matt jarvis and scott dann would two players kk would look two bring in, means dirk kuyt could be a striker again

28 Jul 2011 11:06:51
Hi, who do you think will play at right back, Kelly or Johnson?, could we not save a fortune by playing Johnson at left back as he did so at the tail end of last season, anyone agree?
Keep up the good work

28 Jul 2011 10:57:30
dont get me wrong i am happy with our signins as i trust the king but aside from jonny teeth(suarez) lol we dont really have a big name team which isnt really a bad thing.
the focus will again be on united, city , chelsea and arsenal and that could allow us to creep up the table and perhaps be in contention. imo i think that if we are up there come december the fsg might splash the cash again thinking that we have a real chance to win the league.

Who all have flown with the team to turkey?

28 Jul 2011 10:49:28
Aguero......gone
Mata.........going

Aquaman....cant get rid
Cole......wont leave
Poulson....cant get rid
Jova....struggling to get rid of

etc etc etc

there is a patern forming here, we cant afford the wages for the top top players and cant get rid of the rubbish above.
City will now walk the league without loosing a game.
Utd will finish in top 2 as usual.
so its 3rd were fighting for if were lucky, thats only if we have a great season, but with so many midfielders going to be unhappy at bench warming there will be a lot unreast at the club...

I had so much hope when we signed henderson and downing but since then we have been unable to move the deadwood.

28 Jul 2011 10:26:28
Not really a rumour just wondered if any of the ed's knew anything about story of European clubs breaking away from Fifa and uefa to form their own league? i know Liverpool where one of the teams mentioned. {Ed002's Note - Discussions take place occasionally on the subject and further meetings will take place on August 24 and 25 in Monaco. I remember Rick Parry being involved in one of the meetings a few years ago when such issues were being considered by G14, but they have not been involved since as far as I know - and I am pretty certain of that. I am sure one day it will happen.}

28 Jul 2011 10:21:59
why is everyone still bothered about aguero? we have suarez and carrol not exactly a shabby strike force is it?

Aguero is a city player now with all the other mercenaries let them have him we dont want money grabbers polluting our club anymore

28 Jul 2011 10:15:01
KK & DC looking at Robert Huth of Stoke... Dann to Stoke which will free up Huth. A solid cheaper option than Cahill...

On a seperate note...

Heard a swap deal between Chelsea & Man City is being discussed. City want to get rid of Tevez & Chelsea realise now that Torres isn't the player they expected.

Watch this space...

28 Jul 2011 10:12:09
Aguero to City
Mata to Arsenal
Cahill no offer
Dann to Stoke
Enrique intrest cooling
Jeffren to Bolton
Nothing else really seemingly in the pipeline for us........ In Kenny we trust and all that yeah fine but is anyone else a bit worried..... Epl is gonna be more competative than ever this year??

28 Jul 2011 10:10:25
hey eds........

i still believe the squad is weak for the top 4 spot........and definately to win it.

i believe the left side is a problem........because the management seem happy play peoople out of position, an then make out they dont work hard enough as if its their fault.
johnson aint a left back..and maxi aitn a winger..nor is kuyt

liverpool fans should realise the spending spree is over and just have to hope other teams slip up for the top 4 finish

o wha mate u expected us to sign how many of them n have a team of how many of them n have a team of superstars, be real mate
-------

Much better to have a team of average work horses which grind out draws instead of wins. I'm not a manc fam or a blue or chelski, I'm a valencia fan.

Unai emery has basically done the same as what dalglish is doing now, fashioning a team of hard working players who work well as a team but don't have much in the way of individual brilliance. We don't win any trophies, we won't win any trophies because hard work can only get you so far, see ghana at world cup all hard working no guile. You will struggle against the better teams much like we do.

Ill be gutted when mata goes as that will be the last piece of guile left in our team. Dalglish has adjusted your team to match the clubs around you. You no longer compete for the title, and your goals are now to grind it out and get to 4th place. All work and no guile makes any team a dull team. Trust me you're heading where we are

If it is all true about gerrards groin, that he may only be able to play 15-20 games a season because its not reacting to the injections the way it is meant to, shouldn't it seem right to put a bid in for mata? His representatives are ment to be in london to discuss a 15 mil move to arsenal, I no we have raul and aquaman but aqua looks like he goin on loan to Italy again and raul I don't rate he was too light weight last season and got put onto the wing because of that for most games he played. Mata would be a great signing and if the valuation of 15mil is right we would be silly not to put our hand in.

Imo, the positivity shown by many about the signings of Downing, Adam, Henderson and Carroll says more about the fans' faith in Kenny than perhaps the players' abilities.

One just has to ask what the reaction would've been if it was Rafa Benitez or Roy Hodgson that had spent circa £80m on Downing, Adam, Henderson and Carroll.

Outrage and disillusioment would likely have followed.
For about £80m, it would've been vociferously pointed out, Juan Mata, Fernando Llorente, Ever Banega and Juan Manuel Vargas could've been bought.

These fellas, whose common denominator is that they're all Spanish-speaking, are-- on paper and in practice-- far superior players than Downing, Adam, Henderson and Carroll.

"Benitez/Hodgson" is clueless, f***en hopeless in the market" the bloke would've grizzled.
"This person Benitez/Hodgson pays £35m for a relatively untested half season wonder when he could've got a better player in Llorente for a few millions less. Pathetic."

"He wastes circa £40m of our finite kitty on Adam, Henderson and Downing when that could easily have bought us Vargas, Mata and Banega. f*** this charlatan."

I'm in no doubt that the reaction would've been along those lines.
I'm even more sure that in January, Carroll was the last option in many fans' in minds, let alone at £35m.

I'm sure that for 9/10 fans, Downing, Henderson and Adam would've been way down the alternatives list.
People won't admit it but it's true.

However, the man who took the decision to bring in Downing, Adam, Henderson and Carroll was no ordinary man, no Joe Bloggs, no.
It was Kenny Dalglish, the hero of the Kop;
Liverpool FC's most storied servant.

The unqualified trust, faith he commands from the Kop, a trust he's earned, means that his decisions, no matter how questionnable they may seem to other observers, will invariably have te full backing of the Kop.

This manifested itself in the signings of Downing, Adam, Henderson and Carroll.
Opposition fans, the neutrals and the pundits had been particularly confounded (and perhaps less than impressed) by the our Scottsman business.

Not the Kop, however, at least the majority of it.
Opta stats and the like were dug and waved for all to see why the King had bought the way he did.
Justifications-- both objective and subjective, compelling or otherwise, were given.

A choice of spending which would normally have had the Kop up in arms and baying for blood has turned out to be an opportunity for the Kop to once again affirm its faith in its hero King Kenny by backing and defending to death this choice of spending of his.

The fans, it seems to me, trust Kenny as oppossed to believing in the talents of Downing, Adam, Henderson and Carroll.
That is the point I'm making here, not slagging anybody off.

The new season will be a massive one for us, more so for Kenny I think, due to the Downing, Adam, Henderson and Carroll factors-- rightly or wrongly.

For the man, there's only one option and one option only: his plans coming to fruition.
Should Downing, Adam, Henderson and Carroll not perform as expected, and by extension the whole team (Fowler forbid),
the pressure-- rightly or wrongly-- will be exerted, most likely by the club's own fans.

Carroll's price tag; buying Downing over Mata, will be put forth and criticised and ridiculed.
It'll be made all the more worse if Arsenal would've got Mata (under £20m) and Spurs bagged Afellay and other perceived better players than Downing, Adam, Henderson and Carroll.

Rightly or wrongly, Kenny would look a doofus.
So, imo, there's one and only one option for the King: his plans coming into fruition.
With how we've done our business, we'll either be extremely good and shock everyone, or we'll be s**tty and just founder.

Kenny knows this. What I'd draw optimism from is the fact that he seems a man with a plan, a huge plan that will either beautifully come together or embarrassingly go pear-shaped. That is not known.

But one thing for sure: we'll either perform or perish come 2011/12.

"I like tricks, I like to dazzle, I like to be able to score a goal with one leg bent round the other so that you smack the ball into the net with your wrong foot. Dribbling and leaving your opponent on his backside is what life is for. If I achieve what I want to then I'll mark a distinct era in football. I'm the Che Guevara of modern soccer." - Kun Aguero

Sounds like a bit of a t*sser if you ask me - not the kind of team player Kenny likes anyhow. Good job we were never interested.

Benzema for 25mill.. And Eden hazard for an undisclosed fee What nonsense Just out of curiosity Ed, SSN are reporting matas buy out clause is 13.5 mill? Surely that is wrong? {Ed009's Note - that is wrong, and buy out clauses do not usually apply to non domestic clubs regardless.}

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani's proposed move to Fiorentina has fallen through.

Liverpool and Fiorentina had been locked in talks over a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer for the Italian international.

However, Aquilani is believed to have stalled on the move as he would prefer a permanent deal rather than another loan switch.

Fiorentina were unwilling to meet Liverpool's asking price for a permanent deal for the former Roma man and the move is understood to have collapsed.

Aquilani spent last season back in his homeland with a loan spell at Juventus, before returning to Anfield earlier in the summer.

News of his move to Fiorentina falling through is a blow to Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish's transfer plans as he was looking to trim his squad and free up some funds by offloading the likes of Aquilani before the close of the transfer window.

Is it just me, or 15 mill for Mata to Arsenal is a steal, surely we should nip in with a bid, I know were overloaded with midfielders but we could ship some out.

28 Jul 2011 09:06:23
Ed you know only think that should scare a liverpool supporter this coming season is not the fact that we spend 35m on andy but further 16m on downing to make caroll tick.
I just hope kid realises how important it is that he sorts everything and focus on his football.
This could define kenny's reign.
I just hope he has thought this through because if we don't get champions league suarez and reina will leave and media will ask big questions of his spending and believe me it is not a walk in oark as some fans are saying even with kenny incharge.
On other note city with this squad if fail to win title mancine will be gone.
Thoughts red men.

Is there any truth in what some people are saying that Mata wants to see if liverpool make champs league to decide his future?. Do you realy belive he wants to play for us that much?

aguero to city and mata to arsenal what joke ......who did we buy .......stewart bloody downing ...........i give up

28 Jul 2011 08:44:26
Not so much a rumour, just a thought - why do we need an extra centre back, when Kelly says himself it's his best and preferred position. Yes he is quicker than many centre backs, and yes he can cross a ball, which is why he has been played at full back but he is a good resource to have. It took us years to play Carragher at centre back - not really until we sold Henchoz but no-one will say that CB is playing him out of position (though it was suggested as the case at the time). Thoughts?

Hi ed, what is the latest on Adam Johnson to Liverpool? Is it still a chance?

Please post on rumour page.

FyrenK {Ed001's Note - until they sign a replacement he is going nowhere.}
------------------ But ed, why do they need to sign a replacement who doesn't even start? Paudie {Ed001's Note - they still need players for his position, they aren't just going to say 'it's ok you don't start many so we will just have a gap in the squad there'. What would they do when they have injuries during the season?}

28 Jul 2011 08:26:19
Why is everyone going on about a striker?? we need to sort out our defence first this has to be our main priority we finished last season with +15 GD compared to MUFC's +41 and Chelsea's +36. sort the back out stop letting in as many goals and we will score natrually with suarez and carrol they have to be worth at least 20 goals each if fit as well as our goals from midfield

ed's love this site keep up the good work

p.s dann will sign BCFC are going into administration and need funds so they are looking to offload, if we hold out we might get him at a cut down price. and if they do go into administration it means we get there europa league spot, which i personally think we cud do with out for a season but if we do get it at least it brings money into the club

Morning everyone.
I read a post from last night about someone slagging KK off about buying downing over Mata , the poster was basically told where to go.
Everyone's entitled to an opinion , and I for one wish we had got mata over downing if it was one or the other.
Mata in my eyes will most likely cost double in a few years where ad downing won't.
You can say hes not a natural wingers but hr has skill hell go around players which without suarez we don't have.
Ask yourself if it was hodgson buying these players would you stick by him?
I don't think so.

LAVERS {Ed001's Note - that is a nonsense argument. I wish people would stop trying to drag up Hodgson and claiming he would have bought these players and that people would have been up in arms about it. It is irrelevant because Hodgson could make the best player look like a donkey. But I don't remember too many people (other than me) being disappointed by Cole signing under Hodgson. He is half the player (well except round the waist) that Downing is.}

Steven Defour is not playing for Standard Luik (Liege) at the moment as he is going to be transferred very soon. He is doubtful for next week's Champions League match so I don't think that he will be a target for Liverpool.

Here's a list of all the british players who have failed at english clubs:

Craig bellamy - liverpool
Robbie fowler- man city
Alan smith - man utd
Francis jeffers- arsenal
James beattie- everton
nigel reo coker- villa
Jamea milner- man city (debatable I suppose)
Robbie keane- liverpool

Just a few, I'm sure there are many more. Buying british from british teams is just as risky as buying foreign so please peoplestop thinking we will be successfull just because we bought british. Oneill fashioned a largely british team of good youngsters and won nothing.

You can believe that carroll will terrorise defences because of his size if you like but I simply see a young kevin davies, with better heading granted but other than that they are identical in style and size.

I'm not saying we won't be auccessfull or that carroll won't, just that people manage their expectations a bit, expect less as its only dalglishes first full season. Don't put extra pressure on him or any of our signings.

aaaaarrrrgghhh why didnt we sign Aguerro, Mata, Hazard, Tevez? Because they r money grabbing t**ts that doesnt know whats good for them. Listen all...... Kk Dc are/have signed quality proven English players that wont p#ss off to Barcelona or "we'll try buying the league this year" City.... They have saught out for players who wanna play fight stay and if it ever occurs sell on value. Yes I was a doubter, yes I wanted us to sign all the players I thought we went for but I am extremely happy with what we got. If we get more players then I will be over the moon. You never know we might get a huge surprise.
Break it down all yee doubters....what is the one thing we all want? The title.... So thats what we r doing. Building a team to challenge for it. We have or still are getting rid of crap and replacing with quality. Maybe not European/world quality in your eyes (but whose to say they r not, dont judge them yet) but players that will give more than 100%. Downing is better than Young, Carroll come winter will outshine Aguero not to mention Suarez will outshine every player this year. Adam is class.....and if you still disbelieve just feel this...
Walk on....walk on with HOPE in your hearts and you'll never Walk Alone youll neeeeeeeeevvver walk alone....
In KK we must trust....
I believe...
Great work eds... You do an amazing job

HI eds great site, Ive noticed most of the rumors posted are pulled from the newspapers and lesser sites, MOST of the fans know what positions need to be filled and you guys constantly tell them that the players mentioned are out of are price range I disagree, we need to sign the very best no more crap because if we dont ln a year or two we will be in the same position we are now saddled with a load of rubbish we cant unload.when the owners bought the club they paid 350mill 200 players 400 new stadium=950mill which would be valued at one and a half billion good business and lets not forget its a business.so please no more talk about buying enrique or warnock lets buy the best e/mail the owners tell them your choices they might just listern. {Ed001's Note - email the owners? If they ever start taking notice of emails from random fans to decide signing policy then the club is in serious trouble. Why not just leave them alone to concentrate on running the club, instead of reading nonsense emails from people who clearly have no idea what they are talking about in terms of the business side?}

Hi Eds;

Oooooooooohhhhhh Dear So no Aguero, no Matta, no Sanchez, no Hazzard, no Benzima, no ?????? have I missed anyone out? It would seem the worlds efforts in these austere times to cut back on everything, have migrated to the Liverpool rumour pages Do you have a backup plan?

Tobey ;) {Ed001's Note - we have Suarez, he is far more than a back up!}

Eds, Read in a couple of places today that were looking at Lucas Biglia of Anderlecht - Any chance of that being genuine? Think he is an excellent player, and would be great to have on rotation with Downing, Kuyt & Maxi.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

First of all he's a central midfielder, sort of like a Cambiasso type player, and secondly, he is almost certain to move to an italian club some time in the next 12 months, there has been a LOT of interest from quite a few italian clubs and as far as i know he's very interested in playing in italy.

what's all this jazz about a 70m bid for Hulk, someone's manager/chairman is a full blown person if it's true.

28 Jul 2011 01:30:28
Thank god all the aguero rumours will stop now, he's a great player but we do not need him at the moment. Where would he play? We are creating a team, not a team of galacticos. Would u drop suarez for aguero. No. We couldn't play carroll, Suarez and aguaro so who would u drop. Suarez and Carroll will compliment each other really well, a little and large front act. We have great supply from the wings nowcwith downing and hendo, things are looking good. Guys stop worrying about galactico signings, look where that got real Madrid. We need another striker who doesn't mind being rotated, a left back and a centre back then we will RULE THE WORLD..... I'm getting a bit excited now. Sorry. Lol

please post on rumours,
i have just been wondering on the youngsters and realized that foreign players have not really have had a good chance compared to the English players in liverpool like pacheco definitly needs a chance.
what do u think ed {Ed001's Note - I think that is utter nonsense, Pacheco hasn't had a chance because his attitude has been poor. You can't turn up to training when you feel like it and then swan around not trying and expect to play.}

arsenal to bid for benzema, mata and hazard...while we bid for henderson, downing and roddalega

Is there a reason for so many British signings? Targets? I'm aware of the 26 and under rule KK and DC prefer when looking at player age, but are we cutting the number of foreign players?

Hi ed's how are you all this evening just having a think about gerrard and his age and his injury being realistic he has 2 years left if he is lucky and the same with carra being 32 and maybe one more season do you think owners/Kenny will offer both roles within the club after the playing days are over and with gerrard do you think its worth him coming back at all and maybe calling time on his breath taking time with the club and hanging up his boots yes he is a legend but is putting his heath first more important and with what has been brought in over the summer give us plenty of options do you think all these reports of lucas leaving are true

sorry to ramble on

Can anyone tell me wen KK said that a familiar face would be returning as mentioned in posts not so long ago ?

Apparently we're considering a £2mil bid for Swansea winger Nathan Dyer. Not sure if he's the world class winger we're all hoping for but only 23, voted fans favourite, value for money, adds another attacking option, has a bit of skill and will be hungry to play.

Fabulous and Addicting site that got in trouble with my boss at work. A bit of a formation freak, so forgive for being a little nerdy. From the aqquisition of Henderson and Downing, I see that that KingKenny is more or less using a very similar or maybe the same formation he used when he first became manager of liverpool, a formation that switches between a 442 and a 433, in this case downing a pure winger that drops deep and goes forward to become the 3rd striker with Carroll and Suarez. Same thing back then with Barns, Rush/Toshack and Beardsley respectively. And Henderson is more of a tucked-in right attacking midfielder. Which does raise some questions like: where are Stevie and Kuyt going to fit in?, but then we know the team is building up for the future and these 2 are getting....hmmm.... let's say saving and concentrating they're unbeleivable hard work and energy more in bed. At the beginning of the window I was expecting at least two wingers to come in, and if downing is injured ...well... but then again who am I to question KK. Iam well aware it's not a priority position, and I always loved to "Hazard" a guess at this one when it was likely at the beginning, but who as a signing would u think be more likely for this position Ed?

He's a city player now but good luck to him, I've always been a fan since he first moved to atletico (followed them for sone time)

I see no reason why he can't be a success, hernandez, owen, fowler (in his youth) were all small light speedy strikers. No need to run through defenses if you're running around them.

Good luck aguero, you picked the wrong city. Last ill say on that.

Just read on the Daily Mail website (not sure how reliable it is) that Arsenal have had a 17.5 millon bid for Matta excepted. If true we can put the Matta to Liverpool rumors to bed.

Dalglish is apparently setting up a foundation for the Liverpool squad. This is the reason he is buying British. He knows players like Downing, Henderson and Adam understand the meaning of Liverpool and will not search a move elsewhere next season even if Chelsea come in with a £50mil bid and extortionate wages. This means he knows that for next season he has a basis of:

Reina Doni Johnson Kelly Flanagan Robinson Carragher Kuyt Henderson Gerrard Adam Lucas Downing Carroll Suarez

Noticeably the 2 areas where we are weak are Centre Back and LB. At LB we have no guaranteed experience as Aurelio is rarely available and Robinson is young. At Centre back Agger is rarely fit, and while Skrtel is a decent Centre back he is hardly amazing.

I think we can be certain that if they dont go this summer, Cole, Maxi, Kyrgiakos, Meireles and Aquilani will go next season.

What I'm trying to say is that next season, with a solid foundation we can add players with a bit more flair. Often, these players come from abroad and hence and higher risk but the potential gains can be greater. I think if we sign a LB and CB this year, we can expect 1 or 2 high quality players next season to add flair, depth and quality to a stable squad.
