Stating the obvious perhaps but are new deals for Sterling / Hendo et al more a sign of the changing times at Anfield rather than players being greedy?

Always thought winning trophies was the aim of most footballers. Therefore it makes sense to wait for the club's direction to be clarified before committing.

I can imagine senior players are aware of a change on the cards at the end of the season if Brodge does not deliver.

Could be a long summer.

We cannot compete with the 4 teams above us, that's a fact. Anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong! Mancity took our top4 place when mega bucks rolled up. It hurts me to say it but its true.

I think it's more down to how much the player wants and how much we're willing to pay. If we agreed sterlings reported 150k I'm guessing he would have signed.

Ed002

I was just wondering why do you reply to posts on the Liverpool page, when you seem to despise all liverpool fans?

This is not what people call trolling, I was just wondering?

Believable23 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - No I don't - all I have been is honest. Liverpool used to have great and knowledgeable fans. The new generation are hate-filled vegetables who complain about everything from the owners down. Why not visit after a game the club failed to win?}

Its become kinda sad really. I returned from the US recently (yes my user name is now inappropriate) but over the last three or four years I have visited the site regularly and there is, in my mind at least, a deterioration in the quality of banter (both ways)
Having said that, I suppose that it is kind of understandable that the team et al should come under greater scrutiny having come so close last season (and spent so much dosh post Suarez) but we do seem to be (once more) in transition although I do feel that there are some reasonable signs for the future, with our young squad, however this is not the main reason for my post.
I have become less inclined to visit this page as the abuse levelled at the team and its manager have been perhaps harsh, perhaps not, but I feel uneasy that the Editors have been overstated (on occasion) and been unnecessarily reactive and not so far from abusive to posters. So my question to the Editors is this. If a poster makes a comment that you find to be 'out of order' then why post it? Surely that would be simpler than biting back with sarcasm or snarky put downs? If you don't post their idiot outpourings then surely they would just give up? This site was a great asset to me whilst living in the US but I wish the quality of comment from both posters and overseers was better since I have returned to the UK. This is meant as constructive criticism btw but you guys have the power to cut the crap should you so desire. Sorry, just my humble opinion

Agree6 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - we do cut out most of it, sometimes someone needs to be told, and it is not constructive criticism as you have no idea what is cut out, so it is an ignorant view trying to tell us about something you don't have any knowledge of.}

Hi everyone its not my argument I know but don't take Ed002 comments to much to heart like all the the Eds he does this for free and is entitled to his opinion as much as everyone else is.

Its got to be tough for the Eds listening to us all moan moan moan when things ain't going as we want them too, before Le Coq got promoted I was moaning all season about our not having a DM and know I did other posters heads in as much as all the Eds who are after all only human so will from time to time react, we don't have to always like their reaction but where would we be without the Eds voluntary efforts ?

Most followers today, including me, follow our clubs through digital media
My honest opinion is the press and media have ruined it, putting thoughts into people's heads
It is them talking through the people
For instance, the Sterling issue. Half of us don't even know what is going on, but that didn't stop us being market experts
I wouldn't blame the supporters entirely here, but the media putting these thoughts

Ahoy - a begging post for the charity game tomorrow, please can everybody attending, or looking to donate please please please give generously to Positive Futures who are one of the designated charities. Alder Hey is a fantastic facility and will enjoy the bulk of the funds raised tomorrow - however Positive Futures will directly help the Anfield Community and hopefully assist some people from under privileged backgrounds find employment, education, accommodation and ultimately a pathway and purpose in life.

Positive futures CEO (Claire) has operated this charity on a shoe string for a number of years, lobbying councils, MP's and Westminister to assist in regenerating and supporting local areas to benefit the kids, often to her own personal detriment ( she is a friend of mine and first hand I have seen the effort and personal sacrifices to keep PF afloat eg working from a hospital bed following a serious accident 24 hours earlier ). Her passion and belief in the charity is both refreshing and infectious.

Please donate and support Positive Futures as every pound for them is honestly appreciated by the CEO and will be re-invested in the Anfield area.

Give what you can - thank you

Are you talking about next season, if we lose the next 2/3 games while the our 3 big players our out, then our season is just about over, we mite as well play a couple of fringe players, and try and play some decent football, and go for a win, this, should have bought a proper striker, and blame BR, will come back again . just wish Jordon Ibe was fit, he is fast becoming our star player .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It has already been done.}

27 Mar 2015 21:58:26
Eds,

As if the club needing proving that we can't rely on Sturridge to remain fit and be our No 1 striker, he has again unfortunately picked up another injury.

From your inside knowledge, do you know if this position is viewed as most important in the summer by the club, and if it can be self funded by sales could, for example a player like Benzema come to the club or is this reliant on Top 4 being secured and Rogers remaining.

If we sign no one else I would be delighted with that.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - With the world's most fickle fans who spew their hate over every player, why would anyone look to move to Liverpool?}

28 Mar 2015 10:46:03
Don't think we are More or less fickle than any other set of supporters who have seen their team in the past be very dominant, the not too distant past get to 2 champs lge finals, winning one but in recent times being frustratingly over took .

As far as I know we are still one of the top 10 richest clubs in the world so would think it's fair the fans would expect a more consistent performance in the league and also in Europe.

As for why anyone would want to come and play in front of us I suppose you could ask the likes of Alonso, Reina, Suarez, Torres why they are coming back this weekend as well as Terry, Drogba, Henry, Clichy etc who have no attachment to the club but give up their free weekend to turn out on Sunday.

Anfield and Liverpools fans are world renowned so maybe there is a reason why players would want to come and play for them.

Ed002, I'm curious as to why you provide us these rumours when you clearly don't like the majority of us. I don't mean this disrespectfully (although I find it strange that every time I say something like this, I have to point it out), but this page probably has the most posters, many of whom are extremely passionate about their club. We all "support" in our own way, but the reality is we just want to see our club be successful. And although the "tell It like it is" mentality sees us often arguing with one another, your comments are uncalled for. Our fans are not obsessed with chelsea. They just use chelsea as an example because they know that's the club you support. The guy you just blasted was only reacting. Elderslie, along with the rest of us, did not deserve that comment.

Many of us appreciate the information you give us, in fact i'd assume all of us do, but I can't sign on here without seeing you've blasted someone. There are some occasions where people deserve that blasting, ie the person that said he hoped disaster hit at the world cup so they'd stop giving it to 3rd world countries. This is not one of those occasions.

Agree8 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Clearly the cretins don't appreciate what is said and they have no interest in what is going on at the club or anything to do with transfers. As long as they have the opportunity to ejaculate their hate of the owners, the board, Mr Ayres, the transfer committee, the scouts, the manager, the coaching staff and all of the players (past, present and possible future) they are more than happy. The best example is how they were very quick to forget everything Mr Dalglish did for the club, particularly at a difficult time, in favour of the runt that is Luis Suarez, that large numbers of people still go on about. That is what is wrong with the "new" fan base of the club. But you are right, I should stop sharing information with the Liverpool page.}

28 Mar 2015 18:21:28
To be fair Ed, I think Tommy Irish Red was referring to the treatment the Chelsea fans dished out to Rafa, such as anti Rafa banners etc, rather than the actions of Abramovich who indeed did reward him handsomely.

Agree9 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Ok - but traditionally Tommy Irish Red has made a complete jerk of himself. In this case I will forgive him if I erred.}

28 Mar 2015 18:28:55
No ed2 the only reason anyone ever singles out Chelsea is because you are a supposed Chelsea fan, and continue to take digs at so called fickle Liverpool fans. That is the only reason, it's a direct response to a hypocritical comment. The most fickle fans in the league are Chelsea fans. Which is why jose mourinho and his son have slated them. Yet a Chelsea fan is calling Liverpool fans fickle just because this site has a larger percentage of Liverpool fans using it. If you think about ratios, there would be a lot more abuse coming from sections where there are more people situated in them. So stop living in glass houses.

Agree9 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Still trying to make everything about Chelsea? It is completely embarrassing. And what makes you think I am a "fan" of any one club? I supported Chelsea because when I moved to England they were right around the corner from where I lived. I have no particular interest in whether they win or lose games. Idiot.}

28 Mar 2015 20:02:38
Ed I'm not making everything about Chelsea that is the team you support therefore I point out that fans of your club can also be very nasty to their players and managers unfortunately you seem to hate us with a passion with the venom of your response above even when posts r simply asking your opinion you are very nasty a lot of times maybe you will lighten up some day I will say a prayer for you.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Please don't pray for me Tommy. My views on god (note the little "g") are far more extreme than my views on the "new generation" of Liverpool fan.

We should adapt all of the user names to include "Old School" fan for the likes of Waro et al who I may not always agree with, but I have respect for; and "New Generation" for the hate filled fans who despise everything about the club and are happy to daub abuse on the outside of the stadium to help force the manager out.

My old buddy Mike Dicken used to say "my health is not the issue" when anyone asked him how he was. I doubt I will lighten up any more than him.}

29 Mar 2015 00:13:23
So I'm 40 I was 15 when we last won the league I'm not new generation and I never hated anything to do with the club .So traditionally I have made a jerk of myself ed come on now that's not called for your out of order.

{Ed002's Note - Don't worry - I have no interest in sharing anything going forward - you are simply rubbish.}

29 Mar 2015 04:51:28
When did I ever say you shouldn't post for us? Once again I showed no disrespect and I'm treated like an imbecile for it. if you wanna dish out ultimatums then go for it. My appreciation for this site as well as its users is the reason I even bring this up. I appreciate the information you give us, and I've found it very reliable and credible, and none of us want you to stop. but I won't be losing any sleep if you go, so don't try twisting my words to trick me into begging you to stay. And the bashing you dish out is no different than what you condemn.

Ive read some of these posts with interest and although i am a lifelong red fan, i think Ed002 has a good point. i'm old school and proud of it, if we get beaten by a better team, as we did last sunday, then fair play to the team. football is not just about winning every game, its about being a true supporter and enjoying the club as it develops.

Respect costs nothing, maybe its about time some of the so called new generation of supporters, start showing some.

Ed002, you were always reasonable and very funny with your replies, don't let the idiots get to you. Chill and don't allow their twisted replies to be posted.

Why did we sell Agger And keep skrtle? Asher had publicly wanted to stay and skrtle had wanted to leave. Agger was also a better player in my opinion

Dezemondo, the fact that your boy Skrtel literally needs to be babysat by his defensive teamates in the current system shows how severely aweful he is as a player.

{Ed001's Note - seriously? A rock? Hahaha, no wait you are joking right?}

28 Mar 2015 23:10:08
Although, to be fair, his form has been much improved in recent months due to the lack of responsibility he has to carry in this new system (effectively he's the defender if the other 2 screw up, who passes either to mignolet or one of the other two), Skrtel remains a defensive liability.
I really felt for Lovren when he came in because playing with Skrtel, who makes no effort whatsoever to eiher listen to or communicate with his teammates, must be nightmarish for a new centre-back at their first really big club.
I don't want to slate him as he seems a nice guy, has stayed loyal to the club, is in decent form and don't want to add fuel to Ed2's idea all red posters are uneducated, fickle and irrational thinkers, but, I can't see how we'll ever win a league title with Skrtel starting the majority of games at centre back.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2015 03:26:19
I guess I nailed it then. He is a liability and needs other defenders to hold his hand OR he is lost. Conclusion? He needs a babysiter or should I say, BABYSITTERS!

N BTW per Ed01, he was not loyal at all as he tried to force a move to City a couple of years back hence he was NEVER considered as captain material.
