As a fan I like all our players, I have my favourites, I have my starting 11 and I'll stick up for poor performances with fans of other teams cause I'm protective.

I have to say Klopp has me wrapped round his finger, I truely believe we have one of the best and most exciting managers/ coaches and can see him turning us back into regular contenders and will win trophies, once he has his own squad and time.

As much as I'd hate to see any player leave who is either regular, like Henderson or Coutinho. Or the next big thing prospect like Ilori or Ibe, none of which I expect to leave btw, I trust both the owners and Klopp that what they do this summer is the start of what is required. I think the owners are good ones who will invest in Klopp and reinvest player sales. Also think Klopp has to have more then one window and more then just next season to get us to where we would wish to be.

Reason to say all this is basically as much as you might not want players like Ilori or Sturridge sold, Milner and Mignolet to stay, if that is what happens then I'm going to get behind them and look at the bigger picture.

28 Mar 2016 23:46:08
That sounds like common sense, it has no place on this site! just kidding max, i'm just not used to such a level headed attitude on these pages, i'm looking forward to seeing what happens myself, in the meantime we still have big fixtures to play and the chance for certain players to change klopps mind regarding there futures, having said that if klopp keeps skrtel for whatever the reason that would test my temperament to its limit.

28 Mar 2016 23:51:47
I get your point but i was told to pipe down and look at the bigger picture when we sold agger and kept skrtel and johnson, or made pointless signings like lallana and benteke for loads of money, or even kept brendan rodgers longer than 3 months into 14/ 15 season when it was clear his tenure was imploded, or let players like suso leave without them having a chance to even contribute.

I trust klopp but i will be sticking to my guns as always if i think the club are making stupid decisions, they have made enough so nothing surprises me.

29 Mar 2016 04:57:15
It still surprises me to see Ilori's name cropping up on here in regard to the next big thing. I would have loved to have seen him take his chance/ s, but surely we need to face it that he's not seen as good enough within the club? Or am I missing something? And it's not just Liverpool. His loan spells have been a waist and even those clubs couldn't have rated him.
I hope I'm wrong and he has a huge preseason and puts himself to the fore, but I'd be surprised to still see him on the books after the summer.

29 Mar 2016 07:14:56
He never got a chance BB, I bet if he could turn back the clock he would have stayed in portugual, he needs to leave and get his career back on track, we got exicited because he came with a good reputation, his pace etc, and also remember Brendan Rodgers quote when he bought him and sakho at the same time "we have secured the future of our defence with these deals" we later found out he did not trust or want either player, its one of the strangest transfers of recent times, at least he actually played for the 1st team, which was something I thought he would never do. All we ever wanted was for him to be given a chance, like you I expect klopp to put him out of his misery and allow him to leave.

29 Mar 2016 08:40:48
We have up to 14 VITAL games left this season so I agree we get behind all the lads 100% from now until the end.

However, we all know there has to be sales in the summer regardless of any signings. The squad is already bloated, there are already 2 new signings coming in.
I don't think there is any harm in speculating who will go as we know quite a few will be going.

28 Mar 2016 22:08:06
These breaks for international games are hard to take. Roll on sat night.

28 Mar 2016 23:48:19
lets hope sturridge is available to face spurs, otherwise we will need to find a striker, is firmino ready to return to action, anyone know?

29 Mar 2016 03:06:26
Physio room. com says he is ready for Sat.

29 Mar 2016 07:15:36
Thanks for the info mighty reds.

29 Mar 2016 13:05:34
Unfortunately, Sturridge is available vs Netherlands first. Let's hope he pulls through and plays against the Spuds.

28 Mar 2016 18:32:19
Saw a link to jesse or real madrid haven't watched him much but seem decent thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable6

28 Mar 2016 20:11:46
I rate him, he is a very good forward/ striker. Can't see RM letting him go though - unless a loan.

28 Mar 2016 22:02:14
Ed002 has said and I'm paraphrasing that Jese is unhappy with his playing time (he barely starts) and isn't sure Madrid will agree to his demands so he maybe forced to leave with interest from elsewhere. However, it is unlikely Liverpool would go in unless Sturridge were to leave.

28 Mar 2016 17:48:26
Sturrodge to start for England tomorrow night apparently - hope the FA have checked their insurance cover properly, probably end in another long lay-off.

Joking aside, anyone know whether those PSG runours had any truth to them? £50m sounds like a nice amount of cash for someone with his injury record!

Believable1 Unbelievable10

28 Mar 2016 19:53:00
As you say, I'd think it doubtful they'd shell out 50M for someone with his injury record. The interest could be there though, there aren't too many top strikers out there at the moment.

28 Mar 2016 20:48:56
I don't want Studge to go, but PSG did spend £50m on David Luiz so i think they are capable of anything in the transfer market.

28 Mar 2016 22:12:13
Maybe they would swop Lucas for Benteke 😜.

28 Mar 2016 17:09:15
Hi ed002

Ive read the posts most and understand what youve explained with regards to Zielinski but has there been any more progress/ advances on him? Or is everyone getting hooked on his interview (including me) lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea about any interview - I have explained the situation.}

28 Mar 2016 16:38:50
Question for Ed001, you mentioned that you wrote an article .........

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - That is the one.}

28 Mar 2016 15:01:03
Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher returning to Anfield to manage the club fills me with dread for all sorts of reasons. They would make Harry Redknapp look like a choir boy. Aren't they the ones that wanted The Owl as manager after Rafa? Enough said.

Believable13 Unbelievable8

28 Mar 2016 15:07:24
Whoever the future managers are they should not be considered or ruled out by anything other than merit.
If they're the best available then I wouldn't rule them out.

28 Mar 2016 15:37:38
Hey we've got a cracking manager now and hopefully for a very very long time let's not right him off already chaps.

28 Mar 2016 16:05:14
Not writing Kloppo off reush on the contarary mate. I wouldn't want anyone else in world football managing us. For me this guy is going to build a monumental legacy and is the nearest thing to Bill Shankley you can get. I know he has his detractors but for me he's making his mistakes early so next season will be fully equipped with the skills to take on what will possibly be the most formidable line up of managers ever assembled. Next year the Premiership will be near enough impossible to win and if anyone can Kloppo can. Gerrard and Carragher have manipulated the club for so long I would hate for them to come back in any coaching/ managerial capacity. I don't care what their merits are.

28 Mar 2016 16:06:32
they should challenge themselves by getting the proper qualications (badges etc. ) and then start at the lower leagues, where there is less pressure with more emphasis on using the players that you have rather than just buying as there won't be much money down there.

then come up by merit and not because who they were in the past.

28 Mar 2016 16:19:12
Gerrard can be the coach for the under 21s and can pass his experience on to the others.

28 Mar 2016 16:27:01
To be fair Dalglish didn't do any badges or work in the lower leagues and get experience he didn't do to badly as a manager. Still don't want Gerard or Carragher I don't care how qualified they are.

28 Mar 2016 16:49:24
Gerrard couldn't even understand the tactical side of his own position how on earth would he set a team up?

Carragher takes so long to explain anything that the game would be over by the time he's finished telling the players what he wants.

I think klopp is safe for now.

28 Mar 2016 17:02:29
Kenny took over a team that had just played in a European cup final, with a backroom staff of Moran and Evans and a certain Sir Bob Paisley who had come out of retirement as an advisor.

28 Mar 2016 17:07:22
Yeah i really don't want either of them back in any capacity, maybe carragher because of his passion and exceptional defensive knowledge, but needs to prove it as a coach first. I don't know what the point in bringing stevie back would be.

28 Mar 2016 17:31:51
But didn't KK have Sir Bob by his side at the beginning and that was a massive help.

28 Mar 2016 18:48:12
So Paisley, Evans and Moran won the title for Dalglish when he managed Blackburn then did they?

28 Mar 2016 19:27:04
I don't get all the dis respect towards Carra and Gerrard, both gave 100 percent at the club, show them some respect.

28 Mar 2016 19:33:32
How many other Clubs and their fans would love to have
Jurgen Klopp as their manager.
We're so lucky that he always had an affinity with LFC and decided to come here. Sometimes I still can't believe it.
He is our future. and a breath of fresh air.
Let's never take a step backwards by bringing Gerrard and Carragher back to this great Club!

28 Mar 2016 19:47:39
They gave 100%? Carragher yes, gerrard was vain and moody and is up his own arse to this day. The guy held us to ransom and conned everyone into thinking he had a right to a level of respect like nobody in the clubs history, not to mention robbing carra of the captaincy.

However in terms of bullying the rest of the team, you can ask ed001 about his tales of the 'scouse mafia'

28 Mar 2016 19:54:51
By the time Kenny won the title at Blackburn he had the experience. read your original post Brenda. Kenny got the Management experience working with the best, he didn't need badges.

28 Mar 2016 20:22:01
Great players but neither stepped up and spoke out against Hicks and Gillet. Carragher got a bumper contract out of them and Gerrard admits in his new book he didn't feel it was his up to him to question his bosses. They both left Rafa to get thrown to the wolves. As players I believe they both give their all. As people? No I think they got their wages and kept quiet.

28 Mar 2016 20:50:13
Woolback say what you want without Gerrard and Carra there would of been no fifth European cup, also remember the Gerrard Fa Cup final? Show them respect they were great players.

29 Mar 2016 00:07:04
Yes i respect them highly for their endeavours on the pitch and they had great times with us, sadly it is also about legacy and how you leave that will be remembered. I'll remind you djbril cisse was present for both of those finals so i guess that means he should be worshipped as a god as well. Michael owen won a treble with us, i clearly should give him the same respect as say dalglish should i?

They were both great players but i feel that especially gerrard is wayyyy overtalked as some kind of legend and pillar of the club. He happened to stay with us for ages because it filled his vanity crisis, he manipulated the situation to the point where he moulded his own legend rather than created it because of the demands he was granted and the power he was afforded, he was untouchable and that is not right. However some fans for some reason have come to view that in some sado-masochistic, christian grey type way, that gerrard being some kind of irremoveable figure in the club was a charming and good thing?

He was an excellent attacking midfielder for us, world class, and a true legend for playing ability. However this was prevalent for about 4/ 5 seasons and in my opinion was not as great a captain as carragher would have been. He overstayed his welcome when he was past his best for no other reason than 'come on, its stevie G'. He wasn't willing to stave off moves to chelsea and madrid because he loved us, he staved them off because he loved the hero status and security, both in wages and playing time, the deluded liverpool fanbase thought was acceptable. The mentality that he simply had to be in the team for years when he was way past his best, passing the ball to him loads to force a goal out of him (especially in his final season) and the way he mentally and tactically on the pitch held the squad back for years was unforgivable.

Sorry for the enourmous rant, don't like having to talk about past players like that, but some people really do need some perspective on the guy and his sharade.

29 Mar 2016 14:34:33
@ Woolback

I guess Gerrard should have gone when we lost Alonso, Masch etc.

At least you guys would have like him better then.

And Gerrard didn't manipulate anyone, we all loved him for the player he was on the pitch. I admit I do not have inside track on the club, but on the other hand it shouldn't matter, when on the field he was great and rescued us from many a sticky situations.

Its not Gerrard's fault that our recruitment policy has not been great for quite sometime, we relied on him because he had the ability.

I know he didn't step aside with grace but ultimately age catches up with us all. I am not saying that he should have stayed longer or that he should comeback to manager us.

If he was not so great as I believe, he was also not so bad as you make him out to be.

28 Mar 2016 12:28:16
Hi all. Great start to the day it's my birthday and family got me a '84 replica home jersey not a bad start. Anyway my question is with talk of maybe SG wanting to come back as a coach would it be a good idea to have him back?

Believable2 Unbelievable15

28 Mar 2016 12:43:53
I'm uncertain about him. He'll always be a legend but I feel like his presence can be negative seeing as we're trying to move on with a new crop of talent. Also from his comments in the media in the past, he doesn't strike me as someone who could become a great coach. Great players don't always make great coaches as Lawro and the rest have showed us.

28 Mar 2016 12:54:40
Happy birthday Barry.

28 Mar 2016 13:44:52
Thanks very much 5GOLDSTARS. I totally agree Taurus01 as much as he was w good servant to the club it is time to move on.

28 Mar 2016 14:26:31
Shearer emphasises what Gerrard would be to us. I think the fact the he keeps mentioning Carragher to aid him in his possible tenure as a coach or manager says it all.
No doubting his love for the club but he just won't crack it at management level.

Happy 21st birthday Barry 😉.

28 Mar 2016 14:41:15
Hahaha that was a long time ago Gazza mate😁.

28 Mar 2016 14:42:56
Seems to me that a few on here have already decided that he will be no good as a coach and also a bad influence without him even having a chance to see what he can do. Talk about guilty till proven innocent.

28 Mar 2016 14:49:25
Would be a great long turn plan to have gerrard and carragher around to get some local talent in the team . Maybe he turn learn under kloop .

28 Mar 2016 14:59:44
I think that with the influence he has and all the "insider" info he leak in his book after he left, wouldn't be an ideal situation for him to come back as coach.

28 Mar 2016 15:05:52
Why are we even talking about it? Klopp is the manager and will be for a long time hopefully. If gerrard wants to become a coach at Liverpool or manager then he will need to cut his teeth elsewhere and then if he has proved his worth etc and at a point that is right for the club it may be considered. I do not want gerrard back in any capacity at the moment. We have moved on, so let's just getting on with building the future, not stagnating in the past. I hope we finish spurs title bid this wk end. YNWA.

28 Mar 2016 15:21:59
Agreed topboy- I actually find it a bit disrespectful to Kloppo, he might be our manager for 10-15yrs.
Coaches are picked by the manager on merit and managers should be picked on merit IMO.
Past reputation as a player means very little.

28 Mar 2016 15:56:37
I love Gerrard, I really do.

But we do not owe him a coaching role at all. A legend and will always love him for what he did for the club but we don't owe him this.

However, if we went away and proved himself as a coach, manager or whatever, gained the necessary knowledge and experience then I think he should be absolutely considered for a role in the future, like all other candidates would be.

I don't have any issue with him coming back but it has to be on merit and in the right way, not as a handout.

28 Mar 2016 21:42:00
Personally I don't see where either fit in unless the club makes a role for them, which I don't see happening any time soon. They've been great servants to the club in a playing capacity but are completely untried in any coaching or managerial capacity, would have had more respect for them if they had both not gone to the highest bidder for their services (Sky and America) and instead served a coaching / managerial apprenticeship of sorts and re-appeared a few years down the track.
Our current manager dines at the top table of European managers and has players allegedly wanting to sign for us because of who the manager is and combined with the history within the club.
For either of the 2 ex-players mentioned to become managers would mean their divisive antics as players would need to be flipped and a new inclusive attitude prevail, which will never happen.

28 Mar 2016 10:28:15
To me player who is going out as per fans view is skrtel.

As per coach it would be benteke, tex, not sure any others went out of favour. Joe allen might not be needed to sit on the bench, when u can cash on him.

Even toure is favoured over skrtel these days.

Markovic might not get chance again.

We will buy a keeper for sure, with bogdan also ruled out.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

28 Mar 2016 11:56:02
Like the eds have said, players coming in depends on players leaving. With majority of the squad available for transfer if a reasonable offer comes in.

28 Mar 2016 12:25:46
May be except a few the whole squad is available for the right money.

28 Mar 2016 13:59:04
How does the process of 'offering' players to other clubs work?

Pro-active clubs like chelsea, who are great in the transfer department, always manage to ship out their players no problem.

I mean i know david luiz sounds more exotic than joe allen but could we not just, for example, contact clubs who had shown previous interest or have history with the player and make them an offer? Instead of just being sat on our arses?

28 Mar 2016 14:28:55
Woolpack, it would also come down to the agents being told to the player is free to look for another club and then they would rustle up interest for their client.
Chelsea have bought better than us for the most part over the last few years so them selling there players on is more appealing to buying clubs.

28 Mar 2016 05:17:37
Been a bit of hate for Henderson lately. Same with Milner. Love them or hate them who realistically could replace them, available affordable and would come to us?

Believable3 Unbelievable7

28 Mar 2016 07:42:53
Much depends up on where you see them play. I am not convinced with either sitting deep. I would prefer a solid disciplined midfielder in the summer and Stewart to cover him through out next season. Once you bring that player, Milner goes back to the bench.
Klopp prefers 2 holding mid and attackers ahead of them. Lallana and Milner need to be replaced with better pedigree.
Liverpool interest in a winger would see Lallana moved on this summer while Milner goes back to bench to cover up the injuries.
Can would be the future while I could see Henderson slowly dropping down from the starting eleven for the new midfielder.

28 Mar 2016 08:41:57
So our highest earner (or one of the highest, if not already the highest) will be covering for injuries harry?

if were not going to play both lallana and milner, milner has to be moved on first before lallana.

28 Mar 2016 08:45:42
Kaizer

I can't see someone matching his wages mate. Klopp rates his work ethics and see him as a cover for a number of positions. Lallana would be replaced by a winger / wide attacker and Milner gets replaced by a top class midfielder.

28 Mar 2016 09:18:40
I actually think the 3 players mentioned are going to stay next season. Our Manager has played them regularly when they have been fit to play, they all give lots of energy and have showed willing to adapt to his style of football.
The squad changes he will make are to replace the players who are not being used as much, bringing in players who will challenge for the first team positions.
I can see a lot of movement this Summer but the players leaving will be the players that Klopp doesn't use, rather than the 3 England internationals that are mentioned in the opening post. Unless of course one of them players request a desire to move, in which case Klopp has already come out and stated that he will listen to offers for a unhappy player.

28 Mar 2016 09:23:44
Lallana won't be going anywhere. Klopp clearly loves his work ethic. As do I.

28 Mar 2016 09:59:24
I hear what people are saying about lallana; however what position did we bid for in the last window but we couldn't agree a fee and Tex moved to china?

Also the Ed's have mentioned Praet numerous times.

Lallana's form seems to have improved but if we play one striker we need all players and those attacking to be adding more goals to their games. Something Lallana lacks.

28 Mar 2016 12:00:17
Lallana has improved of late but would you put him ahead of couts or firmino? Personally I wouldn't.

We need a wide man bringing speed to the team to get in behind the back of the defence.

The squad needs reducing before bringing in all these players the fans crave so someone has to make way.

Lets be honest you wouldn't get much for Milner taking into account the wages he'd won't, where as 15mil is for lallana.

28 Mar 2016 12:09:54
I don't get the hate for lallana I think he free been up there with coutinho under kloop . Maybe not the goals but assist he's up there. If I was the manger I would get a gk lb and Gotze who would take the number 10 position and put firminho st.

28 Mar 2016 13:16:56
Redmen reus

There is no hate for lallana, just the simple fact that players need to move on before bringing new ones in.

Also you've hit the nail on the head. you want gotze.

So that leaves 4 places in the team with having 4 at the back and 2 holding mids.

Coutinho, gotze, firmino, lallana, Sturridge, Ings, Milner, origi all fighting for a starting place.

28 Mar 2016 13:17:54
Sorry forgot benteke.

28 Mar 2016 14:27:54
Totally agree Lavers. Lallana is a first team player and fans have to make a choice : do we stick with him and try to develop him or do we replace him with a ready made improvement.
I don't think Götze is that ready made improvements to be honest, his price tag, injury record and form make me very wary of him. But the point still remains, we have too many 'first team players' and too many squad players and all this does is block our young players getting through.

On Lallana, I'd keep him and try and bring Ojo through. Buying Sane or someone expensive like that will block Ojo.

28 Mar 2016 14:30:56
Lallana is not justifying his price tag and having a work ethic or energy will NEVER justify the fee paid for him. Coutinho cost way lees than him YET provides energy and work ethics BUT offers a spark and has upped his goals ratio this season. That is what Lallana should be doing but is not. He like enteke and Milner, cost too much in wages to be offering so little hence, a decision has to be made on these players, especially if Gotze is coming in. Lallana is not better than Couts nor Firmino so he`ll be a squad player at best and at the wages he`s on, that is waste hence, sell him.

28 Mar 2016 14:35:04
Lavers. I think Benteke is a gonna.
With the players you mentioned is that not a good sign of a possible league challenging squad? All of those players having to do the damnest to stay in contention to be in the team. Is that not what the squad needs? Players behind 1st teamers capable of benching the 1st teamers?

Bogdan over Mignolet
Enrique over Moreno
Illori over Lovren
Benteke over Sturridge
Allen over Can.

28 Mar 2016 15:37:39
Gazza827

Totally agree on needing players to push other players on. I just feel that we have 1 or 2 players to many in the talked about positions.

Lallana has improved of late but its been a long time coming.

28 Mar 2016 15:59:16
All the players at Melwood are Squad Players and the 11 players that take the field on match day are also squad players. I don't understand why some posters refer to Squad players has a inferior player, when all the players on the books are in fact part of the squad.

28 Mar 2016 17:16:54
Squad players to me are players who rarely get in the first team but are used to cover injuries and suspensions.

28 Mar 2016 18:50:45
Shouldn't squad players be "those who have lost their place and should try to impress to get their place back"?

Youth players are not counted in the above.

28 Mar 2016 21:58:36
Can't believe we are actually looking to move on 3 England internationals who were part of a team that beat Germany 3-2 in Berlin. Although i agree that Milner is an expense we did not necessarily need in the summer.
It has been widely accepted that the squad needs trimming in the summer so more exits than entrances.
A goalkeeper, a left back / winger are our priorities, if Skertl exits then a replacement needs to be found, same with Benteke.
The most at risk in my opinion are Bogdan, Mignolet, Allen, Skertl, Ilori, Benteke, Moreno, Wisdom, Ballotelli.
Markovic could return and be a useful addition to the squad.
What is not needed is another summer of us buying 8 to 10 players 4 or 5 tops but quality.
