Football is corrupt.
It's rotten to the core and only fan-action will put an end to the FIFA gravy-train.
It's almost £50 to watch a Prem game and loads more to travel.
Add on all the other expenses and you're looking at a massive disregard of football fans.
FIFA, EUFA, Sky and agents run the game we used to love. They treat it as a cash-cow and it's got to stop.
I've handed in my season-ticket and I'll maybe catch the odd game on free internet streaming.
Well done Chelsea/Man.city/Man.utd for next season. you paid for it so you deserve it!!
RIP Liverpool and football in general.
Nobody, from the Queen of England to the Governor of the Bank of E

When one calculates, what one actually pays a season. Plus the cost of journeys, depending where one lives. The quality of football watched.
It's all hype and money down the drain.

Better relax with a pint in one's favourite pub, and watch it on TV.
At least one is not paying for an overpriced TV channel, just in some cases, overpriced beer.

Its a business and businesses operate via supply and demand. The money pouring into the game is a direct result of the demand for it, and it has been quite laughable to watch fans complain about rising ticket prices while still paying them, and then boycott the Sun while still handing the Murdochs hundreds of millions in TV subscription fees.

At least fans have started to give up their season tickets now, rather than just believing that whining will force things to change. If we ever reach a point where anfield is half full and made up of only rich people, then the prices will be lowered. The money pouring into football is what allows us to spend millions on 'quality' players that fans on here never seem to shut up about, but then go on to complain that there is 'too much money in football' and 'theres no passion in the game anymore'.

Reports we've had a £10million bid for Nathaniel Clyne rejected.
If that's not a derogatory bid, I don't know what is! Remember Southampton got £30million for another young full back last summer.

He's in he's final year !!

Agree8 Disagree0

28 May 2015 23:28:04
He's got a low contract I think pal, maybe a year or two left, which usually means lower money.

I think shaw had 4/5 years left.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed030's Note - That's true, However if the news on the bid is true I would expect Southampton to hold out for quite a bit more money. }

28 May 2015 23:29:48
Oh right 5ive, didn't know that. Still, Southampton were never going to accept it were they?

Agree2 Disagree0

28 May 2015 23:30:35
Obviously he mightn't reach the same price as Shaw if he's in his final year, but papers were linking him with United for £25m

Are Saints players the only ones on the planet we can sign or are like stage nine clingers? Sheesh!

Agree1 Disagree4

28 May 2015 23:59:50
It's not going to happen for another year if it actually does or without a transfer request from Clyne!

Sterling has two years left and how much are you all asking for. 50mil

Same scenario accept clynes agent isn't a whopper.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 May 2015 00:54:19
That surprisingly would be some good business from LFC in the transfer market. The first time in a long time we have not telegraphed who will are looking to bid for in the media for 3 weeks.

Although they took 25m for Lallana, who is not fit enough for 90 minutes of football, it will probably take double that to land him.

Agree0 Disagree2

29 May 2015 01:03:12
Wonder if he'd play as well as our previous high money transfers from Soton.

Papers say we bid £10m, Southampton FC want £12m . doubt it though.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Southampton are not looking to sell Clyne, they have offered him a new contract.}

29 May 2015 13:32:15
I can't believe we are looking for another right back .

I'm going to go slam my head against a brick wall

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 22:56:48
Eds- several journalists believed to be reliable claiming of a bid from Liverpool for Clyne, the last update was there was no interest in him. Is there any change would be a fantastic signing in my opinion perfect right back for the club although it we have just signed extensions for Wisdom and Flanagan and also have McLaughlin and Manquillo

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed030's Note - I am sorry but I am unable to answer your question about the interest. However I can offer an opinion on him. I believe it would be a good signing as he is a vast improvement on most fullbacks at the club. Similarly to Moreno he possesses great speed which is important for a modern day fullback. He gets up and down the field well as good stamina is another trait he possess. However, yet again he is similar to Moreno as he is not the finished article. On numerous times I have watched Clyne he has been caught out of position on a few occasions resulting in the opposition attacking his flank. Secondly, Sometimes it seems as though he can switch off during a game and make a silly decision or a silly pass. Overall I think he would be an improvement on what we have at the moment and with a bit of cleaning up on his game could prove a shrewd acquisition. With regards to what you said about the number of right backs at the club it would mean it inedible that at least 2 would have to leave, Manquillo's loan can be terminated for a fee to Athletico I believe and I also doubt their would be no shortage of interest in Wisdom and Mclaughlin if they where to become available for loan. }

29 May 2015 13:43:44
What would be the point in loaning Wisdom and Mclaughlin? We'd have 3 young rightbacks vying for 1 position,and throw intonthat mix flanno who's injured. for the next season,by the end of 2016 we'd have 4 rightbacks all in their early 20's.
I don't think it's fair on their careers,where they'd clearly stall if not loaned.It's not healthy for the wage bill unless we can somehow profit from their loans. They get no sense loyalty,and quite frankly depending on the manager once again we could see careers flop. Wisdom did well in the first half of the season on loan,then was quite inexplicably dropped by a dinosaur manager in Pulis. Who for me is just anti football and plays thuggish tactics.

We sold a right back in Kelly who I actually think crosses, heads and defends better than clyne.

I would honestly rather we went back in for Kelly and swallowed some pride.

Whoever is in charge next season will have their work cut out; for me there are 3 key areas of the team that need addressing (not saying we buy someone as the answer may already be in the current squad):

Goalkeeper - shot stopping is great but command of area / players and distribution is key; so for me the answer is not Mignolet.

Right Centerback; Skytel dropping deep / lack of communication leaves us with issues (especially for the RB as well) so for me this is another area that needs addressing.

Striker - a Fit striker that can lead the line / play and complement Sturridge.

I'd sell Sterling and only consider Milner, Ings and Garbutt on free's / compensation other than the three positions mentioned.

RB covered (Manquillo, Flanagan, Wisdom, youngsters).

LB Moreno and Garbutt.

CB (from) Toure, Sakho, Lovren, who is left after the preseason and not moved clubs.

CM: Milner, Can, Lucas, Henderson + Youngsters - Allen is a decent squad player but I'd prefer Cheiivella, Rossiter and Williams to get a chance.

We are overloaded with Attacking midfielders, both first team and youngsters.

Strikers, Sturidge, +1, Ings, Origi, Sinclair.

Somehow i don't think this would happen unless BR goes or has the handcuffs put on with spending!

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed030's Note - Toure could do the job at center back for another season I believe. I am still undecided on Mignolet, Good shot stopper but lacks majorly in other aspects of his game and I agree on a ST. Another season with the same strike force with Origi added to it doesn't fill me with much hope. }

28 May 2015 23:01:16
Here Here Ed; I think that we need a good striker in addition to the ones I've mentioned; I think Origi and Ings would be OK for some games / bringing on as subs but not as the main strike force; if Sturidge cannot maintain his fitness we probably need to consider a further striker - funds allowing.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 23:36:14
Cech, Clyne,

1/ Cabaye/Gundogan/Alonso (a proper passer iN the middle)

another selection of cm would be

2/ naiggolan/matuidi/Milner (and let Hendo or coutinho spray the ball araround)

I don't know whether we buy someone for sturridge or a partnership or a loan front man lol undecided list;

Mandzucki (look at giroud and how arsenal play off him, he could offer the.same)

Bacca (could suffer from last year's moreno stuff, but would be a solid better addition than we have)

Austin (quite like the guy, looks like he.will just find the net and everyone will write him off time & again)

Ings (injury record is questionable but free so again undecided)

This signings aren't title sigings but they are very certainly improvements

Agree1 Disagree1

28 May 2015 23:47:02
We need a top striker, for sure. IMO, Studge might as well not be here next season because he can't be relied upon to be healthy. If Ings comes in against my wish, I'll support him because he seems bent on coming to us so I can only applaud his desire and determination to succeed here. Just being fair to the lad and who knows, he might just pan out.

Agree0 Disagree5

29 May 2015 00:08:14
I worry that if Rodgers is in charge then he will decide not to give players a chance - I mean for the times he has played Lambert (especially in a formation that suits him) then why bother spending the money.

this season appeared more in ensuring we had numbers of players rather than players that were required - if the manager doesn't know what formation and way he wants to play then how can you ever have a successful transfer window apart from being lucky?

Agree2 Disagree0

28 May 2015 21:47:39
Do you think that Liverpool would have finished much higher if a player like Charlie Austin had played for us?

Interesting to think how many goals he would have scored.

Believable3 Unbelievable24

28 May 2015 22:53:30
Don't know why so many people disagree. You are right, but any competent striker would have got us a 5th place or higher finish after the low level of competition in the league this year below Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree9

28 May 2015 23:06:17
Is Austin really any better than Borini? I'm not so sure. And if we had had him in our squad do you really think he'd have been picked? Maybe at right back.

Agree12 Disagree1

28 May 2015 23:11:47
People disagree because they see a systemic failure at Liverpool not one that we could keep throwing players at until it fixes itself. Austin might have scored more goals, but maybe not, we have three (competent) strikers capable of hitting double figures (or in Borinis case just shy at Roma) and failed to create a system for any of them.

Our failures have been tactical in both positioning of players, formations and substitutions on the pitch, failures off the pitch with regards to contracts and Rodgers press conferences. I'm not saying Austin would have done worse than the current crop of strikers but Rodgers would have done his hardest to try.

Agree10 Disagree0

28 May 2015 23:53:15
BR doesn't even know what system he wants to play, strikers he wants to use or not use strikers at all and doesn't know what pegs go to what holes. Those strikers aren't as bad as BR made them look because they were decent at other clubs but with the above deficiencies of the manager, even the Barca attacking trio would struggle under such dreadful conditions

Agree3 Disagree0

29 May 2015 00:20:29
May have poached us a few against the poorer sides we failed to win against.

Doesn't really seem to have the speed and awareness that would suit us better.

18 goals is not to be scoffed at though. Wonder how much he'll go for this summer.

Hi Eds & Reds

As everyone else has, I've been glued to the site & all other transfer gossip & just been looking at all the players linked with & if I had my choice in an ideal world the players I'd like to see come in & replace others. This is not who I think will sign just my opinion & wishful thinking but love to hear your opinions guys.
Milner to replace Allen
Tevez to replace Mario
Ings to replace Borini
Koviac (sorry bout spelling, the Inter lad) to replace Gerrard
Vietto to replace Sterling(an Suarez in a way as he never was)
I'd personally stick Origi out on loan to a Prem club as I don't think he's ready to go straight into the team & from what I've seen of him I don't think he is as good as people think, but I'll reserve judgment until I've seen him. I'd potentially sell Sturridge if we could find someone daft enough to bid £40million, his goals tally is great but at this time we can't afford him out long term, with him being English an over inflated prices if somebody come in with that sort of figure I'd take it, again highly unlikely but we live in a world were Andy Carroll has a combined transfer fee of £50million :-) I wouldn't change the defence too much, I'd like to see wisdom get his chance, an hopefully Lovren will come good, I'd build team round Coutinho as he's young, talented & committed to the club, the big marquee signing that we all want this summer is. klopp, the guy oozes class & passion, which is the fibre of this great club, the fans are already in love with the guy & he seems like he wants us too, it's a perfect fit, I like most reds out there hope that that will be the big summer signing, again people this is just my opinion on who would improve us.

Believable3 Unbelievable18

28 May 2015 21:34:30
I'm sure people on here play too much attention to Fifa 15 and football manager games, 'Use Sinclair for cup games' and 'Ings as 4th choice'. Get real we need to build a squad and get players competing with players that are capable and make the player who has the shirt earn it for the next weekend. Danny Ings given the opportunity could become a good signing although not world class or even international class at the minute he has earned a move to a bigger club and knows where the net is.

I've said it before we need more 'steel' through the spine I just hope if Rodgers stays he realises we need characters and winners more than pretty 'technicians' end of the day why can't you be both?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

28 May 2015 22:17:42
I agree, we've signed strikers before from smaller teams & the went on to be massive for this club, Rush & Aldridge didn't come from Real or Barca, the came from Chester & Oxford, Barnes came in from Watford, I know it's different times but who's to say a player like Ings can't make the step up with quality players round him, l'd rather get Ings for the small fee, who is young, has an eye for goal & hungry to make himself a success than waste tens of millions on a big name striker with an ego who will hold the club to ransom of thing don't go his way & may not even suite the English game. Before people clamour for the likes of Martinez, Cavani, Benzema ect, don't forget some of the big names who failed, Shevchenko, Morientes, Crespo, Falcao, Veron. We simply can't afford to risk big money on one of these

Agree4 Disagree0

29 May 2015 00:01:49
Our squad is full of talented young players and our academy has talent as well. The reason those legends succeeded is because we had tactically astute managers who knew what they were doing and had integrity and a backbone to make tough decisions. All we need is a manager with similar qualities (cough Klopp cough) to bring it all together. If Ings is desperate to join us then I'll support him because he REALLY wants to be here and fight for us and who knows, he just might surprise many of us.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 May 2015 21:20:36
Well, that's it then.
I had till 6pm yesterday to renew my season-ticket and I didn't.
Somebody else can sit through nine months of over-priced mediocrity.
I'm gutted, of course. I'll never get another season-ticket again.
I made a deal with myself which I told everyone about. if Rodgers isn't gone by Wednesday I'll keep my hard-earned money for other things.
I couldn't even be bothered to go to Gerrard's last home game against Crystal Palace last week.I wasn't working or doing anything special, tickets were reportedly going for ££££££'s and I could've sold my ticket at a massive profit.
I didn't. I just couldn't be arsed going.
i also put £50 on us losing 5-0 at Stoke. I actually thought it'd be 6-1 or 6-2 but I let my heart rule my brain again.
Raheem Sterling, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini etc. "earn" more in a day of light training than I do in a year of hard graft.
Footballers and their agents are taking the piss out of ordinary people. People who want to support their "local club" are instead ploughing their money into foreign-owned franchises and their hangers-on.
Next season Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City will finish in the top four.
Money talks.

I really believe Sterling should be sold to the highest bidder and we should not be worried as he was just lucky to be given the chance so many wanted at the club eg. (Ojo, Ibe, Sinclair, Wilson, Texeira etc. ). He is a good player but far and i mean very far from the finished article as he wastes goal opportunities way too much. No player is bigger than the club so just move him on and give another the chance he got. Lacazette, Benteke, Higuain these are realistic targets we should want in the club just to name a few and stop the senseless spending on rubbish stop gap players who fade away more and more each day. Borini, Lambert, Balotelli, Markovic, Allen, Manquillo?????? money wasted IMO.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - That is not how the transfer process works - you cannot simply sell a player to the highest bidder.}

28 May 2015 20:45:49
i agree stirling hasn't realized his potential yet,but mark my words he defo will,after saurez he is prob the player that would concern an opposing manager the most when playing liverpool,as for wasted goal opportunities,the young lad was moved from the left to center forward and done amazingly well,strangely liverpools dip in form seemed to coincide with stirlings dip in form and for me that says it all,if he moves on over the summer period
he will be sorely missed by lfc

Agree4 Disagree2

28 May 2015 20:54:35
word up ,

he also played at right wing back and he was not that good , i'm glad you think the club revolves round sterling , it was because he got moved to CF he wants to move to a bigger club , he thinks he is better than he is and i'm afraid he won't get anyu better than he already is , he is a winger so maybe he can put more crosses in or make more chance for some one else

Agree2 Disagree1

29 May 2015 00:30:40
IMO Sterling is young Aaron Lennon or a young Ashley Young. Bags of pace, good dribble but needs to work on shooting, passing and crossing. let him head off to Chelsea or Arsenal and see where it gets him. I do think he has potential and he is no where near the best he will be, but he needs to go to a club where he will play regularly and I can't see him doing that at either of 'his two' supposed prefered clubs.

Sell to the highest bidder IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 19:50:18
Eds fellow reds a couple of points, I think Klopp would be ideal for Lfc all the great managers have a nasty streak which Br doesn't have . And if Rafa goes to Madrid do you think we might have a better chance
Of getting some better players e.g. Good fringe players from Real Madrid as rafas conection with us .

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Of course not.}

28 May 2015 20:19:43
I don't think the managers have full control (if any I'm not sure, maybe they have some input) of transfers given the turnover at Madrid.

Even if they did, it would still make no sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 18:21:00
If players such as Teixera, Rossiter or Wisdom aren't going to get any game time at Liverpool next season. It would be ideal if we could loan one to Bournemouth and one to say Watford.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Why Bournemouth and manager-less Watford?

28 May 2015 18:59:02
For prem experience. I believe they would gain more game time at either of those clubs for example than another in the league. Can you see any higher teams in the league playing them regularly ?

Firstly I'd like to say I told everyone a month back that Ings wanted a move to us over anyone else.

I still think we need a top striker but if you look at Ings replacing borini with money in our pocket then its not a bad deal.

Secondly sell Stirling he's got the potential but how many players have come and gone never stepping up a level like Walcott, Wilshere and also Barkley.

So get the 50mil if possible and go for konoplyenka on a free seems like a no brainer to me.

Thirdly do everything you can to keep Lucas because the money mentioned 5mil ish is ridiculous. For that money who are you going to get with the same experience.

We should be selling Allen get whatever we can and bring in Milner.

Then lastly I hope to guaranga the owners go for klopp, you'd imagine they'd take a cautious approach in saking Rodgers but everything has fell into place for them. The just have to take the opportunity which I feel they will do.

Giving Rodgers another 6months in abdolutely pointless, because come Xmas we will already be out of the top 4 running.

Believable18 Unbelievable4

28 May 2015 17:38:24
I still don't think I'd take Ings, he'll just be a squad player, when you'll have Origi (though I think it'll be tough for the lad) and hopefully as Ed001 suggested Jerome Sinclair. For me we should be going and trying to get a top striker to partner, or lead the line in Sturridge's absence if he gets injured. I agree with what you're saying about Rodgers though, I don't think he can be trusted any longer, and not achieving top four would be yet another blow.

I really feel origi is just going to be a fish out of water so it wouldn't surprise me if Sinclair got a look in before him.

Do you think we will get £50m for sterling?
I seriously doubt it.
Lucky to get half that I think. Plus take away all the extras and whatever we owe to QPR.
I would rather we kept him and sorted out whatever his issue is, if it's not money then it's something else (Rodgers?)

28 May 2015 18:36:15
If he (most probably instructed by his agent) can act this unprofessionally now, what happens when there is a another problem with him in the future? Sell him now, take the money, re-invest it wisely (ha!).

Agree3 Disagree1

28 May 2015 18:45:27
I think we would get close to that yeah.

Sterling is British and the media has built him up to be one of the hottest youngsters in Europe.

Think we'd definitely get 40ish

Agree4 Disagree0

28 May 2015 18:49:06
Indeed Lavers, I'm optimistic about the squad, it'll probably number between 25-30 after outgoings but before signings are brought in, again unfortunately I can see Allen (I can't see him providing much to be honest bar someone to block youth) and Skrtel still being here. Other than that I think we just need 3 major signings, a fourth could be possible, but so long as the key areas are addressed I think we could do alright, provided the right people are put in place going upwards in the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 19:15:32
It probably best not talking about numbers, especially when there are things like QPR in the equation that many of us don't take into account. Maybe the owners will keep some of the money?

Surely this Klopp story of him saying to freinds he would like to manage us, is the same story from yesterday regarding Ancelotti.

It's almost word for word even.
Don't get me wrong would love him to join, but can't believe the papers over anything especially when the story is so similar to one regarding another manager joining us.

Why though, it doesn't make sense. Yes i know Rodgers will have to be paid off but your ideal manager is there who wants too come and the fans would love too. my only hope is they will go for him after Dortmunds last game. Surely letting Rodgers have any more time or input is a poor idea.

28 May 2015 18:26:15
Hopefully that silence is a result of the club keeping their cards close rather than actual doing nothing though ed, here's hoping, it would be a bigger error than Commoli if they didn't try and get Klopp IMO.

If a manager of Klopp or Ancelotti's calibre, then surely FSG would be notified by their advisors and would at least enquire(when a new manager/coach is needed)? I mean it's not like you can ignore these kinds of managers, especially if the reports that they would join us are true.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It really doesn't work like that.}

I've got to say if we don't even approach Klopp I with me utterly amazed. I'm starting to really worry about FSG.

Agree2 Disagree1

28 May 2015 19:45:52
What track record is that, exactly? I live in the U.S and FSG don`t mess around. they fired a manager who they gave tons of money to to sign big names and he failed, miserably in 2011. Sound familiar? After that, they hired another manager who won them the World Series the very next year. Point being, they will not keep BR and he will not talk his way out of the sack. paying him off is pocket change compared to how much he has and will lose them if they keep him even for six months which is pointless.

Agree4 Disagree0

redohio,read below, sound familiar,I am suggesting last seasons near miss will possibly provide him with 1 last chance. I hope I am wrong & you are right.I advised you over 12 months ago in my opinion he was the wrong man for the job. The echo txt states
'FSG installed Grady Little, a move that almost, but not quite, brought glory to Fenway Park again.

In 2002, the Red Sox enjoyed a brilliant year winning 93 games but still a distant second to the New York Yankees in their division.

A year later, they did make the playoffs but in an infamous clash with the Yankees the Red Sox came up short.

Little’s tactics came into sharp focus and the heartbreaking loss to their deadliest rivals only strengthened FSG’s resolve. Despite Little’s fine numbers across two seasons – he oversaw 188 victories – the owners acted once more and the manager was gone. And rapidly too, just 11 days after.

Curly noted, Kpm. However, the Red Sox won the WS in 2004 after almost 100 years of longing as well and the story I told was more recent than the story of 2002. I agree it could go both ways but based on recent events with KK and the manager I spoke about, I don't see BR keeping his job.

My ideal summer? For me, I'd sack Rodgers and the transfer committee, and bring in Klopp and Monchi. Then I would like to see a top-class forward come in such as Benzema or Higuain, and also a goalie like Begovic signed. Then, I would like to see Balo, Allen, Skrtel etc sold. And if Sterling and his agent continue playing hardball, let him know that no player is bigger than the club and sell him, considering that we have ample replacements at the club (Markovic, Ibe, Lallana etc.) Obviously, I would like to see Lucas stay, and if possible, bring in another midfielder such as Kramer who will add so much more to our current midfield. That's my ideal summer.

Anyway, thanks in advance.

28 May 2015 19:08:17
Yeah agree there's more to add to our list but I just went with what I think are certain ones.

Depending on manager Lucas is likely. Again depending on manager it's possible Allen would leave before Lucas in the scenario of a new coach. I'd also put both Illori and Skrtle in that bracket too.

Hopefully at least one of Teixera, Rossiter, Sinclair or Ojo will be given a chance and actually break through next season.

I left Vietto of original list as forgot but he'd be a great signing too. Other than that like one the Eds said Vela would be a good shout. My last choice would be Yarmalenko but expensive.

Hi edds,
Never posted before but this is a great site to learn stuff thank you.
My question is : to your combined knowledge what areas of the team are we looking to improve
To my understanding we are looking at:
Gk to compete with mings
RB? Even though we have youngsters
Cm/Cdm? To partner Henderson
And a striker to compete with sturridge

Cheers red edds

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the players Liverpool are looking at, or have been looking at. A replacement for Brad Jones will be needed, so expect a GK to arrive. Brendon Rodgers has been playing without a RB and with Manquillo, Wisdom, Flannagan et al I don't see it as a priority. Add to the how Can has been used and how Ibe might be used. A midfield player is being looked for. One or perhaps two forwards will be looked for.}

HI Qustion for Ed01

Do you believe that now is probably the best opportunity in years for Liverpool to go and get a one of the best managers in football. With Ancelotti and Klopp both between jobs it seems a no brainer to try everything to entise one of the two. Ancelotti i believe would be perfect for Liverpool, his coaching and tactical awareness is top class, and who better to galvanise the club and help bring through the younsters. Whereas Klopp fits the Liverpool way better than anyone around, his passion, his closeness to the supporters and his passion could take Liverpool to another level. It may be wishful thinking but when an opportunity like this arises i Believe the owners have to sieze it with both hands. Come on FSG move quickly and do the right thing and get it done early.

Evered

Believable9 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Ancelotti is not available, he will be recuperating for a few months, at least, before he will be ready to take on a new role. So rule him out this summer.

As for Klopp, yes, I truly believe FSG should be on their knees begging him to take charge if need be. He is the closest thing I have seen to Shanks in my lifetime.}

28 May 2015 16:24:45
Do you think Ancelotti would make for a good DoF?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is no way I could answer that.}

28 May 2015 16:03:35
Ed1, with German press reporting that Klopp would be interested in the job I don't see how FSG can't at least talk to him after the German Cup Final this weekend.
I know you shouldn't believe everything you read in a paper but Klopp is known to be particularly friendly with the press and Bild reported he'd be resigning as Dortmund coach before anyone else so obviously know him well enough.
Feels like a 'come and get me' plea through my rose-tinted glasses, but there's no way they can ignore it, surely?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I know some people that are friendly with Klopp, they all say he is open to an offer from Liverpool. I wasn't sure at first if they were messing with me, but I would still try if it was up to me. You have to go at least ask the question.}

28 May 2015 17:13:59
Ed001,if your around,in what ways do you see KLOPP as the closest thing to SHANKS.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - charisma, they both had it.}

Agree1 Disagree0

28 May 2015 19:49:16
Charisma comes from human integrity, high character, leadership, trustworthiness and respect for your fellowman. Things BR knows NOTHING about. Klopp is our man so fsg, GET TO WORK!

28 May 2015 22:14:41

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 22:42:57
Sorry but what qualifies you to question Brendan's human integrity? You are literally bordering on abuse of a man who is still the manager. He may not be good enough as a manager. But this is getting childish. Everyone wants klopp, even me but that is no reason to vilify a man. He is after all human.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 May 2015 00:24:36
I did not vilify him. I spoke of what he is. He has shown himself to be a liar, lacks integrity, talks with both sides of his mouth and takes responsibility for nothing. Those are facts supported by evidence because even the players and staff have turned on him and the many of the fans want him gone as a results. Even the owners don't trust him with money. What does that tell you? Someone like that cannot be relied upon because he will always duck the issues and never make the hard decisions and will do anything to get his way. It is not a crime to call a an untrustworthy person, untrustworthy because there is evidence of that. Don't really care for him really because his issues as an individual are way deeper than his issues as a coach. It's not my fault you can't handle the truth about BR as a man.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2015 04:17:47
You don't even know the guy personally. You were his biggest fan a few months ago. You started changing your tone dramatically when you had a conversation with one of the eds. The way you speak about him now is as if he is a criminal, a crappy human etc. Nobody deserves the abuse he gets. As for me not handling the truth, I've never been his biggest fan. He definitely has potential, but I do believe he needs to go.

A hypothetical question for Ed001 and ed002 if you have time, as it's not exactly Liverpool related.
With everything going on with FIFA at the minute, would it be possible for a federation to break away from FIFA, and go it alone, and if so what would be the consequences?
And if say UEFA broke away, would it affect how the bigger clubs looking to form a breakaway league?
Sorry for the oddball question, but it's been bugging me and this is the only place I know with the knowledge for such questions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Breaking away is not going to be a practical consideration for UEFA as it does not have the infrastructure or support to do so in the short-to-medium term.}

The potential long-term impact in Europe will be discussed when a number of clubs meet at the end of August. There is a potential that one of probably three of those clubs could look to have an earlier meeting to discuss the way forward. It would not surprise me if they requested a meeting either over the weekend or early next week.}

28 May 2015 15:19:01
Thanks for the reply ed002. It worries me what is happening with football at the minute. Be interesting to see what comes about though, something has to change surely.

Out of curiosity do you feell this 'major incident' with fifa will have any bearing on the domestic game across europe? Rule changes at uefa etc?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is possible. The potential long-term impact in Europe will be discussed when a number of clubs meet at the end of August. There is a potential that any one of three of those clubs could look to have an earlier "emergency" meeting to discuss the way forward. I would not be at all surprised to see something come up from one of those clubs over or just after the weekend seeking a meeting.}

hi ED001
what do you think of jackson martinez is he the kind of player that can fix attack problem ,

also i think we should get ride of skrtel and mignolet they are destroying our defence with there lack of communication
thanks

Believable3 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - I don't know about Jackson Martinez, not for the price he would command. That is why he is still there, he just does not offer good value for a player who might not adjust to English football. I think it would be too big a risk, as they would not sell for the right price for us.}

28 May 2015 12:08:24
Some rumurs Markovich may be sold this summer. I know it will not be very popular decision here but maybe the right one assuming we desperatly need to sell and assuming we can get for him something like 15m. Yes only first season and could improve, you could argue he didn't get enough chances but I will be hugley surprised if he becomes a very good PL player.

Believable3 Unbelievable17

28 May 2015 12:22:20
What a load of tosh.

Did he actually play in his natural position once this season? How's a player supposed to settle at a new club, when he only plays 45 minutes a game and is constantly picked out of position.

28 May 2015 12:20:57
15m based on what?

Agree0 Disagree6

28 May 2015 12:59:51
Why on earth would we sell a young player we bought for so much, with all that potential after just 1 season in a foreign country played mostly out of position?
Oh yeah we are Liverpool, our transfer dealings make no sense.

Agree10 Disagree0

28 May 2015 13:18:38
Nobody will even pay 50% of his transfer fee this summer that we paid for him last summer. With Sterling leaving, it's an ideal opportunity to give him more game time in his preferred position, you know as a winger where he was bought to play.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps you now understand why Chelsea were planning on leaving him another year in Portugal playing every week in a decent league for a good side and getting experience in European competition.}

28 May 2015 13:50:29
Well said ed002 think it would have been better had we loaned him back like Origi given the surplas in that position

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That was never going to be an option with him. It would make zero sense financially for Liverpool.}

28 May 2015 15:12:10
We bought him because Chelsea could of got him the year after. Not because we thought he would make a huge contribution, they know he's not the finished article by a mile. But if he had of had that year of development like the eds saying Chelsea wanted him to have then no matter if we would of bid 100mil for him, Chelsea could of pipped him for 7 mil and got the player. Hense why we moved for him, so we didn't miss out. So frustrated how noone gets it.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - That is not really the case at all.}

28 May 2015 15:13:24
Hopefully, we have learnt our lesson that if other clubs stay away from a signing especially one for which they have the first option to sign, then it means that we should prolly stay away as well, just like I think we should stay away from Kono.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 May 2015 15:48:40
Clearly overpaid for Marko but that's not his fault and he's been treated terribly by the Tactical Genius TM this year

Agree3 Disagree0

28 May 2015 18:31:59
Markovic to me was a huge waste of money, i've said it already and some may disagree but why on earth would you get rid of Suso and spend this much money on potential when there is tons in the academy wait for there chance the likes of: Sinclair, Ojo, Wilson, Texeira and plus young Ibe who got some chances. Markovic brings absolutely nothing to the table and that money could have been invested on proven quality which we need now to be stable top 4 contenders then you get young potential players. Till then look to the academy for young stars and stop wasting money on rubbish oh sorry potential star but rubbish now.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 May 2015 20:10:46
Markovic will be at real Madrid/barcelona by 2020. Just watch 😊

Agree0 Disagree2

28 May 2015 21:02:11
I saw Markovic do some fantastic things on the pitch this season. He was inconsistent, true, and probably overwhelmed by the tenacity of BPL defenders, but he's still young, talented, and was very highly rated before being played out of position for us.

Whoever is manager next year, I pray that they play Can, Markovic and Lallana in their proper positions.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2015 00:48:20
What is the case eds?

Did we expect him to contribute straight away, even with the signing of lallana.

Did we rate him at that price and not get partly held to ransom because of the Chelsea scenrario?

Been a year, give us the low down :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I explained the situation last year when Liverpool looked to buy him. The situation with Chelsea was made clear. You seem to be trying to weave it in to some story for reasons I don't understand.}

29 May 2015 01:31:56
Sorry ed but you gave the facts and not the reasoning, I'm not 'weaving' to let the club off but taking all the facts you gave us, it's seems to be the main reason why we pushed it through.

What your saying is Chelseas future buy deal had no baring on our movement on him, and we also viewed him as a first team starter for last season?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It made zero difference and you have made up this concept of a "future buy deal". Chelsea could have taken him last summer but he simply wasn't ready and needed to gain experience playing at a good level with European competition.}

29 May 2015 01:47:31
See though you didn't specify that the deal they had in place only applied to last summer, it wasn't explained that they would of been able to exercise such a deal this summer.

Sorry for weaving my story ed.

Why buy him last year then? Was it incase he didn't vastly improve and there would of been more competition for him?

And If we had of waited we wouldn't of needed to pay Chelsea a 'handsome' fee either Because there option on him would of ran out.

Thanks eds :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I didn't say anything like any of that either - you are just making it up as you go along. And it is complete nonsense. You are so far from understanding any of this.}

29 May 2015 02:33:44
You said Chelsea could of taken him for a much lower price but didn't think he was ready and thought it best if he stayed and got experience etc

You also said Chelsea got a good fee from the marko money from us.

. What you didn't say was that Chelseas option to get him for that fee wouldn't run along to the next summer (this one)

And you never gave us any of the connections inBetween the facts.

Like why did we move for him, why pay.so much if Chelsea wernt a threat the year after? And was he deemed a project or first teamer (straight away)

Cheers ed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am done with, you have to be some sort of half wit to keep making this stuff up. You really cannot grasp any of it at all.}

From all account's, it look likely that we will land Ings, In my opinion I would prefer to see us go after Charlie Austin. From what games I have seen he is a better player & finisher. Maybe offer cash & Lambert I think we would get a slightly better forward.

Ings, whilst he may not be the top teir of player we all crave, I think he can be a very good assest for us.

In the few games I've seen of him this year, his movement really stands out for me. He maybe isn't a top class finisher but with his movement off of defenders there's no reason he couldn't score goals for us.

Based on that alone, I think he's already an upgrade on all of our options barring Sturridge. That being said, I do like Austin as well, but Ings would probably be a better fit for us out of the two.

I think we have to go for look at different strikers , whilst carlos bacca is a very good option , i don't think liverpool would be a destination for him. i would definitely like someone like jordan rhodes at liverpool, he is a pretty consistent striker and could easily be playing in EPL with midtable clubs. another striker for me who is very underated is andre pierre gignac, whilst lacazette and benzema are all talked about , gignac is also pretty decent striker. he might move easily too. another name that comes to mind is salzburg goal machine jonathan soriano . he has been prolific albeit in a much lower league. also all these strikers are close to 30 but still they are options to build upon realistically. i'd buy all 3 LOL and it still wouldn't cost as much as it would cost to get some players. another good player with priemier league experience is diafra sakho of west ham, he can certainly do well. we shouldalso have a go at carlos vela if sterling goes . he is a brilliant player. and last but not the least Javier hernandez , but yea no chance of that happening ever.

Time to play it smooth for liverpool and not just buy any player because his name is being touted all around europe.
Not to pester eds , but any chance with any of the players. would they make sense to you , putting into perspective the hole LFC are in?

Jordan Rhodes? Seriously? Is he a PL first 11 striker with hopes to challenge for the top 4? Why is he any better than borini or even lambert for that matter? Spend money on a class striker or don't spend the money at all, especially not on the likes of a championship gamble.

Agree10 Disagree0

28 May 2015 13:01:30
I no we had scouts at a recent match to watch Vela Ed but have we advanced so far from there at all?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No and nothing more will happen - he won't be moving to Liverpool.}

28 May 2015 20:12:20
Has vela improved from his arsenal days or is he just in a league that's better suited to him?

Always looked good, but Wenger really must not of rated him considering how long he does give players he likes to develop, or ami jumping the gun eds and did vela himself want to leave ?

Question for ed001 if your about.

What are your thoughts on Benteke joining the club? Do you think he can play to our style?

I haven't seen enough of him to be certain but from what I've seen of him, his strengths are not what we want.

If reports are to be believed he wants guarantees that he'll be first choice so IMO I hope this transfer doesn't happen and the 30 mill goes on someone that fits our style.

Cheers ed

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he struggled miserably when the ball was not played up to him quickly and early. If you want to defend deep and quickly counter, then yes he would be a useful player. He would be perfectly suited to Chelsea's usage of their lone striker, for instance. So it really depends on how we intend to play next season, even if we have Rodgers in charge again, we have no idea what kind of system he will use. He doesn't seem to know that either, so I fail to see any sense in buying a player like Benteke, who is so dependent on the style of football being played to suit him. If you are talking someone like Benzema, that makes sense, as he can adapt to suit different styles. Otherwise, we need to sort out how we intend to play before we start making signings.}

Thanks for you opinion ed

{Ed001's Note - you are welcome mate.}

28 May 2015 12:25:39
Just wondering if Benteke could pull a wonder goal out from nowhere after our midfielders have been slowly passing the ball between themselves for half an hour? If so, maybe Rogers current system could suit him?

Agree3 Disagree0

28 May 2015 13:03:08
Benzema would be a great signing, really rate him.
I know not everybody does for various reasons.
I always see quality though and your right ed in that he is adaptable, would be a huge coup for us.
Unfortunately I can't see him coming to us.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 May 2015 16:36:08
Ed is on the money there. Benzema is a very, very good striker BUT I think he doesn`t look like wanting to improve himself as a player because IMO, he could be so much better than he actually is, atm. i knew him when he broke into Lyon`s first team and he was just awesome. He has the potential to be really great, even world class, IMO.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 May 2015 20:14:02
He should of gone one step below real after Lyon and then moved on, didn't develop properly because he hasn't had to!

Like I don't think Suarez would've been the player he is of he hadn't of gone to Liverpool (or a club below Barcelona in terms lf quality) first.

This has happened for years now I would love to know whos responsible.

Believable14 Unbelievable0

28 May 2015 12:03:40
Have been gutted since we failed to sign him last season, is a fantastic player and think would add a lot to the squad.

Would provide a naturally wide player who is comfortable getting down the line to put a cross in or cutting in to shot. Besides maybe Ibe don't think we have a wide player ready for the first team.

Also if sterling goes (looks likely) could put that towards a top striker and if anything is left can get a DM - think it would be a 'oustanding' summer

Aimed at ED01 here really, firstly mate, like a lot of people just to say thanks for your efforts over the course of the season.

I've noted of course everything you've been saying about our present managers' position since / before christmas.

forgive me if this has been asked of you before; but as a fan, who do you feel and (as a side issue) who would you like to see in the chair come august?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - who do I expect? I have no idea. FSG are very tight lipped and no one is talking from within any more at all.
I would love it to be Klopp. There are no better candidates out there than him.}

28 May 2015 12:55:58
I agree Ed001. Klopp is the best candidate for the job. Bild are reporting that he would be interested in joining the club. If that is true we should be doing everything possible to get him. BR is a lame duck and even FSG must know this?

Agree3 Disagree0

28 May 2015 18:02:19
We have to do all in our power to get this guy. Throw the kitchen sink at him, if need be financially. He just fits!!

Agree1 Disagree0

28 May 2015 20:20:15
Major problem with klopp, which is just my personal opinion!

Basically he was a head coach at Dortmund, he might have contributed the odd player but there recruitment is done by a dof, now I believe the reason he is leaving (the eds will shoot me down if I am wrong no doubt) is because he knows the players who will be leaving this year and he has no real say on ins or outs and doesn't want to hang around whilst the club gets the recruitment wrong and he has to have his reputation tarnished by having a poorer team than he had during the good klopp Dortmund.

Now the issue I believe will arise is I think he is going to be after the whole shabang with his next club (coach, recruitment and the fact he isn't snapping reals hand off. Is because he wants to go be a manager - I even think he will have asked Dortmund for more power and been rejected) but I think if fsg let Brendan go they are going to go dof / head coach.i even think that's what is getting discussed now, see if Brendan wants to work like that first and if not get someone else in!

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 20:32:52
Attack the guy with a kitchen sink?? That surely won't entice him to move now, will it?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 10:13:35
Good day all.

The search for the "top striker" continues and I'm sure Bacca is the latest name.

Ed01 complained about Ings being unwilling to take responsibility for a penalty, but I remember Bebeto losing Deportivo the league title for refusing to take a penalty, and Eto'o refusing to take a penalty for Cameroon and them missing out of the World Cup

My point is Bebeto and Eto'o were still superb players regardless of those incidents, and if Ings comes in and can develop to be as good as Bebeto/Eto'o, when such critical issues come up, another player can relieve him of the burden.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Whilst Monaco, Spurs, Lazio and Inter (not Milan) have expressed an interest in Bacca, the player says he is happy with Sevilla and the future plans the club has.}

28 May 2015 10:26:04
They are proven players who have handled pressure at the highest level and their teams have several others players equally capable of dealing with that. Ings has had 1 season in the PL and his team are looking to him to deliver. He shied away. He's never played for a bigger club than burnley so if he can't handle the pressure there he has no chance with us.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 May 2015 10:49:57
@realtofel, do you think Ings is good enough for us? Personally I don't. I don't see him improving our starting line up and I would rather not sign players who don't improve our starting team.

In my opinion, if we sign Ings then it is more squad padding. Europa League or not, most of us want to see our own academy players getting chances and if we keep signing players only good enough for our bench then I don't see them getting chances and I don't see us progressing.

Agree5 Disagree5

28 May 2015 12:07:29
@Sean, compared to Balotelli/Lambert/Borini/Origi, then yes. I hope Sturridge gets over his injury woes, and I feel Ings is a better backup than those we've currently.

@Swishcleaner, when individuals grow in their careers, they mature and seek more responsibilities. Someone that is 5 years in a career path may not be as comfortable in making decisions as someone with 10 years in that same career path. That's how it's regardless of the career.
Eto'o and Bebeto were highly experienced and had won various trophies prior to having to take those decisions, and they ducked.

I am not saying people should avoid responsibilities, but as individuals grow, they seek those responsibilities. Danny Ings would mature and can be groomed to accept responsibilities when they come.

Sorry for the long post.

Agree5 Disagree4

28 May 2015 13:36:03
He's a striker and has taken the responsibility of penalties for them before. He just couldn't handle the pressure and said so. This wasn't a cup final, or a survival decider game at that point. He 's 23 not a young 18 year old breaking through.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 13:38:40
handling pressure aside he's simply not good enough. Is he really any better than borini? That striker that helped Sunderland stay up last year and had the bottle to step up when it mattered? He's only a year older than Ings.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 17:31:42
@realtofel, I don't see him as a step up on Borini and he probably isn't a step up on Origi who is joining us already. Borini could go but the fact he barely played indicates that we need better. You think Ings is better and I don't. That's fine, that's opinions.

For me, Borini hasn't been given anywhere near enough chances. He was good enough to play for us this season due to Sturridge being out and Balotelli being a really poor buy. If Borini was at another club would I want us to sign him? No, I would say he's not prolific enough. His work rate really suits us though and even though he isn't prolific he still should have got more games and I still don't think Ings is better.

You are happy to sign backup for Sturridge. I would rather competition - somebody good enough to challenge him if he was fit and somebody good enough to play a full season if he was out like this season. Do I think Ings would have been good enough to get us to the Champions League this season? No, and I'd rather we not pad the squad with decent players.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 18:04:18
I just think we can do better than Ings, tbh. Not saying he`s a bad player, quite the opposite. i just think we have to aim higher.

Hi eds,

A lot of frustration being expressed at at LFC's failure to approach Klopp. I just wanted to ask how a club would go about registering an interest in a manager while he is still with another club. I remember a couple of weeks ago Ed002 pointing out that under some circumstances it would put the club in breach of the rules.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You have to approach the other club and ask permission to speak to the manager. One club has done this in respect of Klopp and that was denied as their season had not ended.}

28 May 2015 10:00:37
Thanks very much for the reply ed.

28 May 2015 13:46:27
Ed,would you go for Klopp even if he took a job just for one season with us? I think position as manager of Nationalelf, which is probably free in next year, is very interesting position for Klopp. Thanks for reply

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained when discussing his options, I think there is far to much integrity in Klopp to look do that.}

Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It went rather badly with Liverpool's last Director of Football.}

28 May 2015 12:09:12
Surely that was the result of a bad DOF ed and not the actual role since plenty of other clubs operate perfectly well with a DOF

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea do, yes. Manchester City have done well in my view but their Director of Football is at risk of losing his job.}

Seems paper talk I know and quite a bit on the ancelotti talk with him obviously fond of liverpool and following them for 30 years but if there was anything in it how do you think he would do and do you think he could be the right man for the job,

Opinions rather than asking for gossip on if he's coming if that makes sense

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I am told there is no chance of him going anywhere until after his health is sorted now. He is looking to take time off.}

I think the poster was asking your opinionson ancelotti as a manager?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he asked if he was coming first, which he isn't, so there was little point in getting into the rest really.}

28 May 2015 08:33:07

I assume a fair amount of posters have seen the video of the Liverpool squad at the airport singing and dancing to the Toure song. Funny video right? My question though is do you think it's right? We got walloped by Stoke 6-1. It was a pathetic performance and one that was a real kick in the teeth for fans who'd already had to endure a frankly woeful season. Do you think this sort of video portrays the club and its players negatively? Or do you think it's fair enough as it is the end of the season? I personally didn't like it at all.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - I don't like it. It made me feel sick seeing them celebrating after they let us down so badly this season. Fine, you are on holiday, but wait until you get there instead of ramming it down our throats how little you care about the way you have let down the fans repeatedly all season.}

and that is the reason there is no hope for liverpool at all. half of it goes down to the managers but the players themselves have not been good at all. Granted they were played out of positions at times , given strategies were a mess , but it doesn't matter once you put the shirt ON there is no way you can't give it your all . you can blame the managers as much as much as you want for that 6-1 defeat , but i just cannot come to terms with how do each and every player in that playing 11 gets away from it? they were pathetic at stoke each and every player.
And why there is no hope because sadly not a single player in the sqaud that deserves to play for liverpool, not even a single one, all of them are mid table team players who lack self belief and motivation from within. they are just carrying along and so is the club.

Agree2 Disagree6

28 May 2015 08:45:32
They might know something we don't though ED001 like BR getting the boot. I'd be off on a jolly holly if I was a player and knew that :)
Over all I'm of mixed feelings. I don't think it should have been posted so soon,especially after a quite abysmal defeat and a lack of effort in the last game. But at the same time,I like that the team get on and socialise and are celebrating Kolo's new contract which shows they appreciate him as a player and squad member.

It all part n parcel with football today. A lot of players are at clubs for the money, its no big deal win loose or draw. Lack of respect 100%,a father working his plums off for his family and spending good money to watch their team with his children. To see players not given a monkies as long as the private jet is there and the lambo is in the drive that's all that matters. sometimes I think players need a reality check. getting a fan into a changing room after a defeat to let the players see how it effects people. sorry rant over!!

What do you expect them to do?????? Sit at home feeling all depressed, not showing their faces because of how poor they finished the season. It's only a job and a game at the end of the day.
Why not celebrate. Wasn't this a way for the team to say goodbye to SG after all the years he's had to play in average Liverpool teams (although there have been good teams as well).

Agree0 Disagree4

{Ed001's Note - the game didn't matter a jot? It meant the difference between 5th and 6th and how Liverpool are perceived as a club by the rest of the world. If you think it doesn't matter a jot, then you have no idea. Every game that the club plays matters to a fan. Every time they pull on the shirt they are representing us fans.}

I think what Sam the slayer means is, if it happened and there was 10 games to go, it would of hurt a lot more.

This is why I'm such a fan of Lallana. Against Stoke, he was the only player on the pitch that played with some fire in his belly. The lad gives 100% every game. I don't care if he was out of form all season. What player was actually in form? He's got what it takes, and in my opinion deserves a spot in the 11 whenever fit. I think he's better down the middle though.

28 May 2015 08:29:25

So the one good player who wants to come and we close the door? Brilliant.

Agree7 Disagree0

28 May 2015 10:35:36
The club is certainly in no position to be turning down players that can improve our first 11 and with sterling set to go he's a ready made replacement. Ed's I heard somewhere he's on huge wages 200k odd? I assume he would want an increase on that given he would be on a free? I seem to recall he was willing to take a pay cut to join us last year. Could it just be the wages?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - This is all nonsense. Sorry.}

28 May 2015 09:27:24
Question for Ed 1 if possible, the owners are getting advice on all aspects of the football side of things right? Surely whoever is advising has mentioned the fact that procrastinating and being so indecisive is limiting options as time goes on to bring in quality we need? (managerial and playing staff) Is there just too may cogs in the machine to make a quick, clear cut decision?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it does seem to be a case of too many cogs right now. They will hopefully see that they need to return to their original ideas of having one man in charge to make the decisions. It does seem they have begun to head that way with Gordon taking a decision-making role.}

28 May 2015 11:04:22
I was asking the question as I'm sure the eds said last year he was on huge wages at dinopro?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not that kind of money. Plus he is out of contract so it is irrelevant what he was on, only what other clubs will be willing to pay.}

28 May 2015 12:18:57
If sterling were to leave them would we sign konoplyanka as a replacement? Would seem like decent business of we are put into a position where we have to sell sterling.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say yet, though it wouldn't be a surprise if we revived interest in that case.}

28 May 2015 04:41:58
What's everyone's thoughts on Bolasie? I think he'd be a great option to have on the bench. He's got pace, power, strength, skill, and would give us a different option when we need to change things up during the game.

The only consistency I see is consistently poor shooting and finishing. He is a cracking player on his day but he is nowhere near any level where he would improve us - if he was consistent then yes I would agree he would be a good signing.

He's quick, he's skillful, he's powerful but he's also fairly rubbish more often than he is brilliant. I would suspect he is good on FIFA as his stats/abilities would be high but I wouldn't want him.

There are enough "bench" players at LFC. We need starters.

Stats on FIFA? Don't patronise me Sean! Who from our current crop made any sort of impact coming from the bench this season? Please enlighten me. We need a very good starting XI yes, but we need a strong bench also.

@RedRum, the stats on FIFA comment is valid. It wasn't directed at you so just a misunderstanding there. I do think he would probably have good stats on FIFA.

Anyway in terms of your impact from the bench question - how about pushing players who haven't performed all that well onto the bench due to signing someone better? E.g. I expect Lallana to improve but if we sign someone better then he'll either be on the bench himself or else if starting then he'd have to be playing at his best. Signing someone who doesn't put a player like Lallana under pressure isn't going to take us forward.

I knew the Bolasie to LFC comments would come. I played with players like him who yes, play street ball on grass and kind of wing things as they go on. I`ve watch him play and only in England would a guy so technically defecient can make a decent career due to pace and some power. I would not even sign him for 5m.

I am interested in the Eds and Reds opinions on wingers playing on the non dominant side. I'm no expert but i feel like maybe the traditional winger is the way to go. ? It seems very predictable for defenders. Players rarely get the chance to cut in and get a decent shot off because of it. I see lots of players that hardly have an opposite foot at all, that are playing this opposite winger role. Makes for a lot of stale play with awful crosses being put in. And if there's one thing that frustrates me in the game, its seeing wingers that can't cross a ball. Opposite foot or not, surely its a must when playing on the wing. Am i wrong. ? Is it dependant on the player in the role. ? Or are people seeing and thinking the same as me. ? Hope all is well Eds n Reds ✌

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I would prefer to see players mix it up, sometimes cut in and sometimes go down the outside. Playing on the correct side gives them that option, much more easily than being on the wrong foot. Being able to cross should be number one priority, but a lot of the issue these days is the lack of players to cross to.}

Eds,

Not for 1 minute do i feel he became awful overnight, I also have a little soft spot for him, unsure why but there you go.

Do you feel Mario has been a wee bit of a victim in terms of his LFC career. Due to the style of play, the guy is talented. Granted he's extremely hard work and really doesn't help himself.

Just feel he should of been better in a sense.

Mis-managed? Or own fault?

Thank you in advance.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - no he is just not a good player. He was extremely over rated because he has a great personality and has gone through a lot, so he was given a pass for being an extremely average player. His character is great, when he is at any other club, but he is someone who should be kept as far away from your own as possible.}

I don't think we should sell him without a new manager in place. At least give him 6 months under a new manager.

Also do you have any news or does any team including Liverpool have interest in Leon Goretska of Schalke?

U know i never understand understand the spurs Liverpool rivallery in signing playerS
Liverpool fans just assume ings for example will join us and he probably will.
However if you look at spurs. They are a fantastic club and have been consistently challenging for cl the past five years. They have fantastic facilities and are located in London. Me myself. If I had to choose between spurs and Liverpool with the state we are in it would choose spurs. They would offer nearly the same wages too.

Honestly most Liverpool fans need to realise that there are clubs now close to use like spurs that are actually more of an attraction. Would do we have to offer more than Southampton and spurs? History goes out the window. Southampton give your players more of a chance than ourselves and spurs will be flying next season. Fans are disappointed when united grasp our target but we have more competition in other clubs. That's the real realisation of were were at after 5 years.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

28 May 2015 02:00:01
for a foreign player maybe. but for any english born player the lure of lfc is much more than playing for spurs. oh we also offer higher wages.

Agree8 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Don't take this the wrong way mate but young players coming through today don't see Liverpool the same way they would in the 80s and 90s. I'm not saying Spurs are any better than Liverpool -and it's not something I would even want involved in - but for one reason or another LFC isn't as attractive as they once were.
For talking sake, 99% of South Americans and Spaniards want to play for Real Madrid or Barca, Germans have Bayern Munich and Italy has Juve and what? AC Milan? There's 4 or 5 clubs in front of Liverppol in England when it comes to enticing young players, and one of them's got to be Southampton. Chelsea and Arsenal seem to do it regularly and both Manchester clubs throw money at them to join then the likes of Spurs and Liverpool fight over what's left
If you weren't a Liverpool fan would you advise your son to sign for them? I'm not looking for an arguement btw, I'm up with my wee dog who's not feeling well and thought I'd give my opinion. As a Celtic fan I can understand thinking players would crawl over burning coals to sign but the reality is very different.}

Good point ed007. If it was my kid I wouldn't let them sign for Liverpool. We are currently a badly run club whose youngsters seem to, in the most part, be left to rot in the reserves. I'd not be confident in Liverpool having the ability to develop my kid into a potentially top player and would be looking at other clubs (City, Arsenal, Southampton) as better destinations and a safer, long term bet. I love Liverpool but when you look at our track record of developing youngsters it really would make anybody question sending their kid to us. I don't think our recent performances (CL once in 6 years, capital one cup success only) does us any favours either. IF we get the right manager in these things could change over a relatively short period, but it's highly contentious as to whether the owners are capable of making the right decision - they have the clubs best interests at heart I have no doubt about that, but there decision making in regards to our club has certainly been patchy to say the least.

There's also the small matter of Spurs having finished above us 5 of the previous 6 years. We may have a better team, but it's be difficult to say we've performed better than them recently.

When I say changing the manager is not the panacea everyone else seems to think it is, most people react badly.
But this is the kind of thing we've been getting wrong for decades and a new manager will not change it.
Recruitment is a massive problem and has been for decades, but no-one realises it has not all been Brendan's fault.
Bringing young players through has been a problem for at least a decade, again, people blame the current manager.
Contract problems, again, on going since the final days of Steve McManaman, blame Rodgers.
We've been making a pigs ear of these things since John Smith and Peter Robinson left the club and many other teams have seized the initiative.
Change needs to come from the very top in my opinion.

Agree1 Disagree6

{Ed001's Note - and yet all of those things are within the remit of a manager. You just try so hard to back Rodgers, that you absolve him of any kind of blame. Then you claim others are entrenched in their views, when it is clear the only close-minded person is you.}

28 May 2015 10:24:40
Right,I'm 'the only closed minded person'.
You are free to believe that if you wish but I think that's a laughable comment and I hope it's meant in jest.

I wonder what is the remit of the scouts, the chief exec, the academy staff. They must have a great life. No responsibility for contracts, youth development or recruitment.

For the record, I don't absolve Rodgers of anything at all. He has made many mistakes I'm sure, but I don't see the point in sacking him. I don't see him as the main problem, or sacking him as the main priority, that's all.

I agree with Ron Keague unless we can get klopp Rogers needs to stay.
With a fully fit DS, how many more points would we have accumulated? Rogers has made mistakes but IMO he needs to learn from this and make sure we have enough fire power upfront.

I know most people don't agree but bar the SAS we have the same team as last season plus more players added. Take the SAS out and that's the problem. Get Sturrage sorted and bring a 20 goal scorer in and you'll see a much improved Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree4

{Ed030's Note - Rodgers has had more than enough time to learn from his many mistakes. }

28 May 2015 13:45:45
Rodgers needs to stay if we can't get klopp? Why? Because we couldn't possibly find someone else to spend 215 million, not win a trophy, make top 4 once, get knocked out of CL in first round, get knocked out of EL in first round, isolate players and make a total fool of himself in front of the cameras week in week out?

I'd think it would be difficult to find a manager that wouldn't be an improvement on that.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2015 14:15:08
What manager in world football would have challenged for top four with Boroni, Balotelli and Lambert? How many goals did our strikers score?

We under achieved not just because of the manager but because of bad strikers. Once DS is fully fit and if we can get a good striker in, we can hopefully add another 40 goals

Rogers was the manager of the year before last season and nearly won us the title. If FSG decide to keep him he has my support for atleast another season.

Thanks ED'07 for putting it so nicely and I do agree with what you have to say,but with the emergence of Sterling,Ibe,Rossiter(even though BR hasn't given him a proper chance) and hopefully Sinclair,Ojo,Chiverella and the others.Do you think that changes their perception about us?Better first team opportunities and decent wages.

Waiting for your reply and might I add you should come around more often here.

{Ed007's Note - Jeez, most of those names I only know through Ed001 talking about them lol But do you really think the Sterling situation and the way it's being played out in the media would encourage youngsters to sign for Liverpool? 28 May 2015 05:20:42
You make some valid points Ed007, but can Spurs or Arsenal offer you the chance to take a picture of you standing next to a Champions League trophy in a glass cabinet? No! :D

{Ed007's Note - Aston Villa and Notts Forest can offer that as well though. Have you ever thought it might be John Bishop's fault? Get him off TV and Messi, Ronaldo and Kris Commons would swim up the Mersey to sign.}

Aspas, yesil, balo, borini, lambert. Who bought those 5 strikers? Rodgers.

When they were fit who didn't play them? Rodgers

175 million spent elsewhere over 3 years, who by? Rodgers

Time + money +Rodgers = failure.

What other top 5 team would have kept BR after the long list of blunders he has made this season? If you honestly cannot name one then I now many of his apologists are being disingenuous and disnonest. Also, there are managers out there who can manage us and saying the opposite is just ludicrous. People said the same thing after rafa and KK yet we found BR who had he won the PL, his hiring been our greatest achievement in over 2 decades so those saying that are just wrong. He has failed and will be sacked and his apologists` rewriting of history as if the rest of us were in a coma for the last 3 years, won`t change that.
