I think we should stick with thesame formation against Arsenal and then switch to a diamond 4-4-2 for Smaller teams with Coutinho at the apex. We'll also have to revert to 2 cb's, most preferably Agger and Toure.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It will be the same formation and the same personnel for the Arsenal game I think. Lot of folks saying Coutinho should start, but the guy has been out injured for 5-6 weeks and is probably nowhere near match fit. He will probably need a couple of cameos form the bench before starting.

Arsenal won't play long balls. They would play pass and move, thers too much skillfull players over there.without countinho we would struggle to do anything, What if they man mark suarez?
4-3-3 would do it for me. 3 men midfield and 3 at the top.

How many yellow cards does Luis Suarez have so far this season? How many did he have at this stage of last season? Anyone knows? On anecdotal evidence, it seems he's acting more responsibly this term. Hope his doctor keeps reminding him to keep taking his drugs!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In the 5 games since his latest ban, he has behaved very well, and perhaps that is why his performance has been exceptional? 5 matches, 6 goals and 2 assists so far.

He looks so different this season. way better than last season.

I met him personally and took him to this site.
He was amazed to see only me and waro supporting him and rest wanna get him out.
He then decided to prove himself, and he promised me, he is going to leave end of the season.
So be happy folks

Agree0 Disagree0

And me Harry!

Agree0 Disagree0

AND ME. I went to see him in Bangkok with my grandson and stayed at the team Hotel Plaza Athene. I got a banner made up which read "Suarez Please Stay We Love you". he noticed the banner while on the subs bench and acknowledged it with a thumbs up and a head nod. I was over the moon and then during the after game parade my banner was shown on the big screen. It is a pleasure to watch Suarez and I hope he plays Champions League with us. I am not a great fan of BR but his strategy to keep Suarez I support wholeheartedly.

Agree0 Disagree0

If bale don't sort it out at madrid he's off thier no doubts about it. hopefully he will go and we get lots of dosh and a suitable replacement. personaly I think ngog should be recalled to lfc but if not maybe someone like bent

Ali.

If football is measured by some magical moments, skill, goals and spectacular strikes. Then Luis suarez hit the chart right up there.
Love him or hate hi, you simply cannot take your eyes away from him.
Argubly the only world class player Not in CL

Any news on Papa Eds? don't see how Skertel can be trusted marshaling the defensive massive risk for me therefore Papa is a must! And also the world on the street is Liverpool are back in for Yarmolenko & Konoplyanka one of them will be our big winter signing as Rodgers is trying to add more goals from wide areas! Personally I think he will go for Yarmolenko to add height to the team or he will go for Konoplyanka for extra speed on the counter attack! Cheers PDLFC {Ed002's Note - Liverpool needs to be selling centre backs not buying more.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We don't need Papa, we have a MAMAdou Sakho.

Agree0 Disagree0

In a back 3, skrtel is the best at the center, he shines here. I really doubt if BR were to revert to back 4 skrtel would be playing. it'll be 2 from either Agger Sakho or Toure. on current form most likely Toure and Sakho.

Will. Luis Suarez live Liverpool next season or transfer window? {Ed002's Note - If he can and a suitable offer is made then I suspect he will be leaving.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I know the transfer window can be demanding on players, but I am sure Suarez will LIVE!

If Madrid comes with a ridiculous offer, He might.
Above 50 mill for sure, Or he might stay for another 6 months and move in the summer to Real, Anything Possible, It also depends what Liverpool Looking at, If we are near the Top 4 mark and suarez is firing with Goals, then it would be stuppid to leave him in Jan.
But Question is, Whom we could replace him with, even if we attian Cl. I have been watching lots of CL matches, BUt yet to find one Suarez type player.
Willian, costa, turan, shaqiuri, errikson, Lamela, all these are class players, who could make an impact on a given day, they all could cut inside, shoot, dribble.
BUt suarez is a differnt breed, he is sometimes at the right extreme corner, sometime on the left, sometimes in the middle, He starts attack from half way line, and carry on till the 6 yards box. Outstanding talent.
Torres still neede 3 world class player behind to reach 81 goals, Suarez did it all alone.

If you close look at the first suarez penalty incident inside 6yards Box against westbrom, He started from the left half way line recieving from sakho and then sprnit with a long pass to sturridge and then 1-2 inside the box.
Supreme Talent. Now don't Shoot at me, He might move, might not, But let's have some pleasure watching him.

Bale is struggling at Real, RVP is dead and burried at UTD, Suarez is still going from where he left, 6 match ban, he hardly care, match fit, now what's that?.
Imagine what he could do with sturridge and countinho.

He is due od a Freekick, Will come against Arsenal. {Ed002's Note - You need to sign in.}

M sorry Ed, the above on is mine.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not so sure AG.
I've heard whispers of Ed02 and a grassy knoll.

Agree0 Disagree0

Long Live Suarez. And Ed002 can continue suspecting. After seeing Bale's fiasco the price can't be below $100 million which bankrupt Real cannot afford. {Ed002's Note - I am not sure why you bother spreading misinformation - Real Madrid are not bankrupt.}

Madrid would come in Jan for sure, But we wouldn't sell him below 60 mill. This has been the case with Madrid with every club, They do whatever they wish, and they hardly care UEFA or any bodies.
They are behind Athletico and they doing very bad in the league, They need a striker, and benzema is worse than Higuain, Anchelotti now realises the mistake in getting Bale over suarez. bale would become another kaka.
They need a striker and Suarez is the only world class player not playing CL (hatss off to him).
We need him to break the defences, he need him to get that freekick, we need him to score, we need him to press up high, and above all we need him to get back into CL.

28 Oct 2013 13:18:58
If Suarez stays, will we be trying to sign any forward players? wingers/strikers/no.10's?
If so anybody have an idea who is being looked at?
Cheers

Our defending at times is slightly worrying. Teams seem to come into our penalty area and hold the ball with no player challenging them. There were a few heart-in-mouth moments against West Brom that were worrying. Cissoko, as much as I like him, was not as solid as Enrique (spelling) defending nor attacking. Why is Agger on the bench. Whenever Agger plays the midfield pushes further up because he pushes them up.
Just wanted to see if anyone else has niggling worries or is it just me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agger should earn his place in the side. All our back players are performing well.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is still some communication issues I would say. each defender seems to be playing ok individually, but as a unit there are some heart in mouth moments. its probably down to the 3 at the back system as its fairly new. teams having been getting through easily. let's see if they can improve for arsenal. this game will be a good gauge of how the team is getting along

Agree0 Disagree0

We were a solid defensive unit in the first 3 games with 2 cb's. Agger was controlling the back 4, that's why I feel his exclusion from the first 11 is harsh, given that Sakho or Skertl have been far from convincing and we've been conceding a lot of goals since Sakho's inclusion in the team and the change to the 3 cb formation

I really hope Rodgers doesn't break up a winning formula. He has finally found a midfield that workd in Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson. If he changes that to accomadate Coutinho It will annoy me slgihtly. I know Skrtel has been playing better, but he is getting lucky. A couple of goals this season have been his fault to some extent and on Staurday he was very lucky not to concede 2 penalties, and nearly allowed Anleka in. He misjudged the flight of the ball, but luckily for himself, got back in time to clear it off the line. For me, Toure and Sakho offer enough aerial power to drop Skrtel, and bring Agger in. Agger will give us a bit more drive from deep, and also possesses more pace which will aid us when pushing forward. I recall a post not long ago saying that if Gerrard played further forward, who would play the line splitting passes, and I think yesterday has yet again proved Lucas can do that. The amount of times he cut thwm open with precise through balls to bypass there midfield was incredible. He played at least 70% of his passes forward. One thing I was worried about was the lack of clear cut chances we created. 3 of our 4 goals where all very much individual moments of magic. The other was a free kick. We didn't create a lot from open play, but when you have Suarez and Sturridge you only need half chances! For me, Suarez second goal is the best goal I've seen since Wayne Rooneys bicycle kick. To score a header from 17 yards is unbelievable. Who knew he had that in his locker? Andy Carroll eat your heart out! Overall I thought it was a great game. I was suprised at how effective the formation was against such a narrow team, but it hurt them a lot.

Now, I said I'd do this, and I'll stick to my word. I'm sorry Luis Suarez. I really wanted you sold in the summer, and was insistent you would never change and stick to your erratic, childish and greedy ways. I was wrong, and you have come back genuinely on par with Messi nad Ronaldo. Just keep it up. He should have had a penalty for shirt pulling, but 30 seconds prior to that, West Brom were denied a clear penalty for shirt pulling too. So at least the ref was consistently wrong!

YNWAdam

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Skrtel has more pace than Agger. I don't understand why everyone rates Agger so highly. He gets outmuscled easily, and isn't a commanding presence in our own box from set pieces. His takling is good and the way he brings the ball out from the back is excellent, but people seem to think Agger is one of the best defenders in the world. he's good but not that good.

Agree0 Disagree0

What couple of goals?your love for agger is clouding your judgement.on current form skrtel is our best defender.agger and sakho for me can't play together they don't use enough of their right leg to do so. you don't expect sakho to be on the bench when he most likely joined us for first team football
I like hendo but he isn't creative enough to keep starting over coutinho I still think we need a no 10 like mata, coutinho ain't all that

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to disagree Adam.

With the three centre back style we play we need the Aerial power in the middle. That would mean either play Skrtel there or move Sakho central to allow Agger to come in on the left. When playing this formation the most difficult position is centre back. It is easy to blame the middle man for conceded goals because he is the main defender. Most attacks come either through the middle or from wide balls meaning Skrtel is currently the busiest defender of the three.

I do not think that Sakho is ready for this role (yet). He needs premier League experience and confidence before he should be tested in this position and Agger does not offer the Aerial power required for this role.

The only viable options if Agger is to be recalled would be to replace Sakho with Agger, or switch to 442 and play him alongside Toure, but the problem is it seems Sakho has been made certain promises regarding game time. Therefore, Agger has become the casualty.

I also believe our current formation has a lot to do with providing extra cover at the back to help Sakho. For me, the couple of games he played in the 442 formation he looked a little uncomfortable and inexperienced and I think Skrtel has done a great job in providing the extra help needed at the back.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

So Adam you wrecking we shouldn't change our midfield to accommodate coutinho but we should break our back tree up to accommodate agger how does that sound fair at all skrtel is playing very well people like you kjust dislike him because of last season he improved greatly give him credit where it's due

Agree0 Disagree0

When fit Coutinho should come back in in a heartbeat
replacing any one of the other 3 you name
Take your pick

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't say I agree with you concerning our midfield and keeping Coutinho out because you think this current setup is working. I agree, we need more goals from open play, but how does Hendo overrule Coutinho to support that idea? Hendo runs and hustles, sure, but he isn't very creative in passing, can't beat players on a dribble, and really isn't a goal scoring threat himself. Coutinho embodies all of that. Hendo is better defensively, but do we really need that with a deeper lying Gerrard and solid Lucas at DM? I feel our midfield is too defensive already and much less attack orientated with Coutinho out. To say also that our midfield is a winning formula when it really hasn't been tested is a bit premature. I'd personally be more annoyed at thinking that Hendo can keep Coutinho out of our 11 because he "works harder". Not slating Hendo at all, I appreciate him as a player, just don't see how he offers anything more than Coutinho as an attacking midfielder.

Sunderlands goal, Skrtel turned his back on the shot and failed to block it. Both of Swanseas goals he was all over the place. I am not saying Skttel is a bad player, but he is too error prone. Agger is too. They are both over rated, but Agger drives the feam forward more and whenever he plays the team presses higher. I am saying don't break up that midfield because it worked. Our defence is not working. We haven't kept a clean sheet in 7 games. that's not good enough cconsidering we have played Crystal Palace and Sunderland in those 7. I'm not letting any 'love' for Agger cloud my judgement because I don't think he's much better. But I think I'd offer more to the team than Skrtel. I don't think Coutinho should walk back into a winning side. Especially not against Arsenal. Hendersons work rate will be crucial against Arsenals incredibly mobile midfield. Coutinho goes missing against stronger opposition. You all put far too much pressure on him. He will be world class, but he's 21.

YNWAdam

Agree0 Disagree0

Skertel misjudged a pass from the half way line and we were lucky to not concede a goal. His antics in the box annoy me. Just concentrate on the ball and win the header!
He could concede a penalty every week with his constant shirt pulling.
Having said all of that why break up a winning side?
The best way to learn is when you are winning and not costing the team points. Rodgers should point out skertel's mistakes so that he eradicates them before the next match but the team won so why change it? His form has improved from last year and he deserves credit for that.
The Coutinho problem is a good one to have but for me he has been out for too long to just be thrust back in before he is ready. I would stick with the same side and then bring him on after an hour regardless of the game situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Before his injury coutinho I would say wasn't on form. I may not of been playing badly but he was losing the ball a lot. but as adam says he's only 21 needs some time to come good

Agree0 Disagree0

My God what has skrtel done to you?nobody in the defense reacted for sunderland's goal, you clearly ignore the fact that sakho was at fault for both goals against swansea
Skrtel put in a tackle and the ball luckily dropped for shelvey for the first goal he was covering for sakho for the second
Like I said we need a new no 10 adam

Agree0 Disagree0

Hang on he failed to block a shot even though the keeper spilt it its his fault? Swansea goals where both sakho's fault like he kept leaving a gap for skertel to cover so let's face it your full of rubbish this time

Agree0 Disagree0

Adam we also hit the crossbar twice. Jordan also nearly scored with his effort so I wouldn't worry about us creating chances (we did score 4!)

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree and disagree, think agger should be brought back in but not against arsenal. For such a big game I'd like us to keep to the same team, I think we're far more solid with Hendo which well need against arsenal (have a better chance of hitting them on the break) and if we're chasing the game can take off a defender and hendo, than bring on coutinho and Moses to go more attacking. Than bring agger back against a weaker opposition then alternate between coutinho and hendo depending on who we play.

Agree0 Disagree0

On form, if a CB needs to be dropped, it has to be Sakho.

The latest comments floating about from Agger true Eds? {Ed002's Note - I don't know what specifically you are referring to but the events noted buy #WonderDogSparky earlier on Twitter are indeed true. Blubbering like a child.}

Good for AVB, piping up about the lacklustre home support yesterday.
This is an issue at most Prem grounds now.
I don't know what's gone
Aways are not a problem.
But home matches - forget it, there's more atmosphere at the bus stop.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A good mate of mine got kicked out of the Walkers Stadium (or whatever it's called this month) last season for 'singing too loudly' and 'standing up for longer than was appropriate'. Sometimes the stewards can be a bit intimidating - away fans don't give a cr*p - they just sing non stop, but stewards seem keen to make home fans behave in a more tranquil way. Not sure why, maybe to try to get more families going to games. The terraces are no longer a place for shouting and singing it seems. Shame.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've always thought that is the fault of the 'season ticket'. A lot (not all) of people who attend every home game via a season ticket get too comfortable in their seat, and take it for granted. Season ticket waiting lists are also so long in a lot of cases, that a lot of holders have held there seat for 30+ years. With no disrespect towards the older generation, men in their 60's and 70's don't carry a chant as easily or stand for 90 minutes. I've always thought that the tickets should go on sale the week before the match for every seat in the ground, and may the quickest 40,000 home fans win. That way you get a variation of fans, and you get people who really want to be there. Not just people who feel obliged beause they've already paid for it. Another problem with season tickets is that if that person doesn't turn up, yes the club still got their cash, but their is one less voice to sing. I really don't like this season ticket method. I know it makes it more affordable for the regualrs, but maybe if they introduced something like a database that tracks how many times each fan attends (it'd be as simple as a name and address) they could see who the regulars are and give them a 20% discount as long as they have attened 50% of the last 10 matches or something. That way people still have to fight for their tickets and will appreciate getting one more, but the regualrs can still get their tickets at a lower cost. I know any season ticket holders on here will crucify me for this, but I just think that is why home fans in general are not as passionate. I accept there are obviously exceptions, and some season ticket holders make it there mission to attend every game, and cheer till they die.

Agree0 Disagree0

Adam I like your posts, but this time mate u ain't right.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with all the comments. My two lads and I got tickets for last years game against Sunderland through affiliation with a Sunderland player. Problem - tickets are for away end! We were respectably very quiet during the drubbing Suarez gave them but I enjoyed the atmosphere! The away fans were great! Sang their hearts out, Sunderland fans are a good bunch actually! Also been to home games and it's very quiet. you can hear the kettle boil ready for the half time Bovril rush!

Agree0 Disagree0

Same thing happened to me this time around at the Sunderland game, had to sit with the home supporters and couldn't really express myself :(
