I've also heard that we are looking at McCarthy. I see Lawro in the Park in Birkdale sometimes and he said the other night that we would get McCarthy for 12 million rising to 15 if he got a full England cap (not just an U21 game).

Does anyone know anything about the Trnmre left back who's gone to bayern. Why didn't we look at him?

29 Jul 2011 22:01:25
Eds great site Not a rumour as such but an idea, birmingham have loaned Ben Foster to west Brom for a season with Myhill going in the opposite direction. We should try and do the same with Scott Dann well take him for the season and let them have Wilson or Ayala. Its a win win situation

What do you think? Also are they're any updates on a possible departures?

29 Jul 2011 20:24:34
Scott dann & gary cahill is definitely lfc target..which one u think Ed likely to be at Anfield?
Scott dann maybe 1st choice n cheaper than cahill. But i heard he still in recovering process. Will lfc wait for his full fitness before placing bid? Lfc willing to take that risk?

Hi Eds

I posted this rumour about a week ago.

"What are our chances of signing Jensen ed? {Ed002's Note - There is perhaps a chance.}"

to which you told me not to hold my breath. Has there been some further developments? I was told AFTER i posted that Jenson would not entertain a move to any other club he was looking forward to the season ahead with his present club. This were his own words from an interview he himself gave.

Hi ed, how's it going? A lot of Adam Johnson rumours flying around and what do you think is the likelihood of him joining us? Would be a fantastic signing if he did...

Nice site mate, love it, thanks.

maka {Ed002's Note - I would love to explain this too you but there have been such extreme abuse that I am no longer prepared to get involved in such predications.}

Hull passed the ball around like bara. They scored some nice goals against liverpool. Very good play by them.

Insua looks to big/too musclar and is missing that little bit of pace in positonal play.

Alya tactial sense is bit shacky. Seems to like waving his hand in the air than defending.

Polusen is slow and gets outpowered in midfield. really can't play that position. back he could be a fat sweeper.

Insua needs to speed himself up a bit. I don;t know if a new cbk will really improve things for lfc. If LFC keep pushing fullbacks on to play. Only two men are left at the back to coupe against a 4 man attack.

Its really bad when LBK or RBK lose the ball so high up the pitch. the other team breaks on mass.

The greek looks like he can header a ball. i still think he has a turning circle of a tank. very slow in such a attacking side.

could play three cbk's, but then your allowing a midfield place.

Ayla is a little big faster than carra and greek at getting back but lacks the strengh. Then again all strong cbk's are a bit slow with it.

It really depends on how you want the side to play. Bara have got very good technical and pacy cbk's to help them play all out attacking formation.

Gerard Pique would of never of gotten into a man utd team in a million years. Man utd like powerful cbks.

I would look for a Alan Hansen rather than a Neil Ruddock. Technical ability would be better than power.

Given the players we have right now my starting 11 against SAFC would be,

Pepe
Flanagan, Kelly, Agger, Johnson
Lucas,
Adam, Aquilani/Meireles,
Downing, Suarez, Maxi
Carroll.

When the captain is fit drop either of adam or Raul M.

When playing at home I don't believe we need the out and defender of Cara, more of a footballing defender in the shape of Kelly or Agger, but away from home Carra to replace Agger. Bye bye Skytel i'm afraid he's never been the same defender since he broke his cheekbone at the start of the season 2 years ago.

Whichever of Aquilani or Meireles stays they play alongside Adam. Until Stevie G is fit.

Out wide it's a toss up of Downing right and Maxi left or Dirk right and Downing left but on end of season form I've gone for Downing and Maxi.

Then up top it has to be Suarez, and as there is no other (I hope I'm proved wrong about him) Carroll.

Agree, disagree, I'd love the chat

I said earlier this summer that we would sign James McCarthy and Shane Long. I still believe both will happen. Need the extra strength in depth with Stevie G struggling for fitness. Also have doubts that Carroll will cut the mustard so look for a shock exit in january

It says online that Kenny is prepared to pay the full 12 million to land Scott Dann so he can repair Liverpools leaky defence. Abit of a rip off, 1 year on his contract and the Brum are in need of money so i dont get how he is that much. It also says Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in James McCarthy from Wigan. Please if kenny buys him then he needs to be taken from the money. And it says he's worth 15 million HOW? He hasnt had 1 England senior cap. Nasri worth 20 million and McCarthy worth 15 million. Doesnt make sense

Before having a rant check your info, McCarthy is Irish, and a great prospect who has got a few full caps for the republic

Team line-up against sunderland (realistic)

4-2-3-1 was for Rafa Benitez .

I know this isn't a rumour, but does anyone have an idea on when Gerrard will be returning? Not heard much about it recently and starting to think he probably won't be able for Sunderland..

29 Jul 2011 21:33:13
Just have to say that some of the so called Liverpool fans on this site need to get a grip.it seems quite obvious to me that kenny wanted to sign players that really wanted to play for our great club and not players like mata who MAY want to come but would probably want to wait to see if anyone else come in who can offer champions league.that's not good enough for lfc.if the name and the history isn't enough for these players then stuff them.if you look at downing and hendersons stats from last season you'll all see that they performed better than most of the so called big names in the premier league.so my message is to all the doubters, shut up and have a little respect and faith in kenny.rant over

I guess all we need to complete this summer is for Turan to join Everton for 5m

I for one am very pleased with the signings so far. Given the state of affairs under the old owners when Roy Hodgson was given a transfer kitty which consisted of £3.50 and a packet of space raiders, it was hardly suprising players like Poulsen and Konchesky were signed. I think Downing will prove to be a great signing. I do have a slight concern that if he does get injured, we'll again be left with no out and out wingers to provide the ammunition for the front men.

Still, there is great satisfaction in knowing we have a decent squad which can really push for 4th place this year.

29 Jul 2011 20:26:00
Believe me. There is some big things going on in the Liverpool football club. Steve Clark is charging the players up at melwood. All key players are getting to eachother better. When the season is getting kicked on, i will guarentee that the key players are fired up. Lucas, Agger, Carragher, Charlie, Suarez, Downing, Gerrard. I believe Carroll will play a big factor in the big games such as Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, City.

Cant wait for the season to come.

29 Jul 2011 20:15:21
I'm not worried about Mata going to Arsenal. He's going to be what at Emerates? The new Arshevin? Arshevin was a good player before joining Arsenal, the only player to score 4 goals against Liverpool at Anfield since 1948 by the way - and Arsenal could not make a great player of him - I think that's your fault Mr Wenger I'd much rather
be a Downing joining Dalglish that a Mata heading to Arsenal.

I like many of you have not been impressed by our pre-season form, particularly defensively. But let's not knock the club before we've even started the season. Kenny Dalglish is a guy we all owe a great deal of gratitude and someone who knows how to win, and is a proven winner at more than one club.

Yes it's disappointing we are missing out on Mata but I think FSG's policy is spot-on, iron out the transfer gambles and go for good solid proven premiership performers. When we get into the top 4 is when we can go for it with the world-class talent and take a few gambles. Now is not the time.

As for transfers playing the waiting game on Dann and Enrique is the right thing to do as it may help us first of all get rid of some of the fringe players who have not impressed (some to put it mildly and we know who they are) and then as we get to the deadline clubs might get more desperate to raise cash and be more sensible with their expectations. If we can get Enrique/Dann for 20-25m I would be satisified with our transfer business. Clearly to get one or more player we need to cut our wage bill down but neverthless I do feel we do need to shore up our defence.

I 100% trust in Kenny and for the team to gel and come good. I think 4th is possible this season. Man City/Chelsea/Man Utd I think are out of reach for now but hope I'm wrong.

What do the true fans think to that?

29 Jul 2011 18:44:15
For gods sake, this is getting depressing. Yes arsenal might get mata and we got downing, but is it really that bad? I would rather mata but downing is still a great player and has finally got his chance to play at a big club. But to all you who say mata is not PL proven, I didnt hear you all voice your concerns a few weeks ago??

Can we not all just accept the fact that we have singed a good player and miss out on another player this time. There will be more chances to sign other players down the road, but now is a time to focus on the players we have and supporting them like we should

F**k me this site is getting outrageous, cannot believe the pessimism derived from a bog standard friendly, have a look at the fixture list, we have a friendly on Monday, gala was a last chance saloon for the majority of the players, with only two maybe 3 considered as first team material, we had a game on Saturday. What would be the point in playing 3 friendlys in 8 days you mugs. Pre season is all about fitness. But u can't over do it, everyone seems to forget how strong we finished the season, carras past it? What in the space of 2 months? This site is full of idiots. Criticising every signing before they even kick a ball, alonso had a stunning first season? No, players need to gel , premiership proven means we can hit the ground running and get the cl spot with proven quality, so what if downing was overpriced, be thankful we have the capacity to spend again, contrary to popular glory hunting delusion we are not that far off the top 4, you bemoan lastnights performance where the likes of flanno, Kelly Shelvey , wisdom, ayala, Robinson all got a run out in a hostile environment, but herald our youth and moan they need to play more, double standards me thinks, its outrageous how much negative emotions are being displayed, their are 33 days left in the window, so what if the buisness wasn't done as early as possible. For a player to bocome avaiable one needs to have a replacement, transfers ate far from straight forward. Carroll needs service, I will guarantee he will bang em in for us, for years us fans have bemoaned the lack of a Target man, now we got one of the best most fearsome in europe (they are a rarity) people can't wait to get their claws in. Hmm let me think, we have a presence in the air 11 goals in 19 games for Newcastle, why not get a rapid pin point crosser to compliment him, not a Mata, a boudebouz who I expect none of you mouners have seen, a solid hard working genuine left wingers at the peak of his powers, its common logic my friends, this obsession with flair is beyond me, give me direct running and incisive passing anyday of the week. Judge the players come may, not in July like a jumped up t**t who's just hit puberty and is off school to be a hoodrat, I know come September the local posters will still be here with optimism and generally articulate postings, the jonson6, blairs, the Irish lads, red will, the true fans of this wonderful club, I look forward to all you unsigned posters to eat your humble sh**e come may, sorry for the rant but the nuthouse gates have been unleashed again. Well yesterdays result seems to have put everyone in a super positive mood today, the site is less transfer rumours and banter, more lets slate everyone that has anything to do with LFC and already write off the season to come.
Lets face it, it was only a friendly and has no bearing on the league and out of the whole great squad we have I think very few of us would put any of the players on show in our starting eleven bar Carroll, Kelly and Kuyt and yeah it was probebly a missed oppurtunity for players to show quality in "the shop window" therefore making it harder for us to shift some of the unwanted fringe players (I can't bring myself to use the word "deadwood").
Theres no table for friendlies so nevermind ehh, I do think it must be a bit naff to travel to watch a game of that quality in Istanbul especially after some results weve had there within the recent past but still apart from the fact its a bit worrying that weve shipped in 6 goals in 2 and not scored one, it still has no bearing as to how we will perform in the Premier League.
I always hate it when LFC don't win but come on guys lets at least wait till the 13th to start all the doom and gloom.
I'm looking forward to this season and despite us not being able to ship out some of the fringe players, I still feel we have got a team with much more strength in depth than in previous seasons we have at least 2 men covering each position and the squad is more dimensional and I think we will have the ability to change formation and tactics to change games where as I don't think we could do that in the last few seasons and cost us many points.
Well as rumours go I guess its the normal from me maybe a CB with Dann/Cahill reports but with Wisdom/Ayala making 2 friendly appearances maybe not , maybe a LB with Enrique prob favourite but maybe we'll wait till Jan (cheaper and may not be needed) as we have a few on the books already.
I think were pretty much done for the transfer window, but I may be wrong, we shall see, but if we are finished buying come the start of the season we have some cracking players fighting for their positions already.
Why all the doom and gloom??, we should be happy weve got the quality we've got.
So we can't get rid of Degen/El Zhar/Insua (never been up to LFC standards), Poulson (best days behind him, but who blames him for jumping at the oppurtunity at coming to our famous club)
Ngog (he ain't bad, just how many chances can we give to a player to make an impact)
Cole (personally I think Cole can still come and change a game from the bench but thats about it)

Apart from these players I think we have one of the strongest squads, and I've seen much worse players than the ones above.

Defenders Kelly, Robinson, Ayala, Flanno, Agger, Skrtel, Carragher, Johnson, Aurellio, Wisdom, Wilson, Kyrgiakos

Midfield
Gerrard, Lucas, Maxi, Henderson, Adam, Meireles, Downing, Sterling, Coady, Spearing

Forwards
Carroll, Kuyt, Suarez, Amoo, Pacheco, Suso

Goodtimes ahead for LFC,

RichOfTheHill

ps the #17 shirt had been free'ed up for Dalglish so that he can be player/manager

29 Jul 2011 17:28:39
Guys, seriously now, if we had not been interested in Downing, and we had signed Mata instead, would you REALLY be on here saying "I dunno about this Mata, we should have signed Downing, he's only 4 years older and a few million more", or would you actually be saying "That's FSG for you, young, talented and will double in value in 3 years time"

I thought so.

29 Jul 2011 17:28:37
Do you remember Ryan Babbel?

An exciting talent who set alight the European u21's tournament a few years back. Basically we need proven quality who have performed in the EPL and that is what we've bought so far. We then need to start blooding more youngsters and we could have a winning formula going forward.

This approach has little risk and is where we need to be right now.

For me I would only be looking at a CB to initially play along side carragher with Kelly ultimately and potentially taking over from carra in a few years.

Once we've sold the players who no longer fit our plans let's have another look.

Does anyone think that due to the last few
matches i know their only pre season games
but still does anyone think that were going
to overly rely on suarez like we did Torres - as
Carrol doesnt seem able to make goals like
suarez can, unless the balls crossed to his head
and with the display of our weaker players (deadwood) no one will want to purchase any of them so were gonna be stuck with them till the
end of their contract im not slagging kenny as
he will always be a Hero of mine but i personally
would of liked to see a few more players of
suarez's calibre...And im still confused as of why
we didnt play a stronger squad as in our main
team (not suarez as the poor lad needs a rest after kickin butt in copa america) and new signings
their going on about getting players fit for the
start of the season and he left them out the
game does anyone have an answer

With chelsea constantly pestering spurs regarding modric how about a very crafty bid for their highly rated prolific youth forward harry kane? Bayern munich and hamburg have been sniffing around the player, just turned 18 it's said he will be making his spurs debut this season

please post on rumours.
what happened in jan when we were favourites to sign benzema from madrid.
with chat of tevez going will he be available to us or is it a case of another decent player missed. please dont say other areas are more important first as we do not have enough quality is striker options...
i.e bring on ngog or benzema.
know which i prefer

Performance, Perspective, Picking, Peaking, Pre-Season.

And PLANET. As in: what flipping PLANET are some of these people who are posting here - living on? What colour is the sky in their world? Sure isn't red.

I'm not a great player or manager. I don't understand the complexity of modern player conditioning, injury recover, performance zone stats or the nuances of zonal marketing. And my brother's girlfriend is not waxing the long legs of Andy Carrol and vajazzling his girlfriend.

But - I do have a bit of basic fan common sense and I'm lucky to know a business consultant who works on coaching for a few big sports teams and organisations.

So PLEASE lets get this PRESEASON into PERSPECTIVE

1 - Selecting first 11-14 players for LFC for 2011-2012 is pretty damn easy. I reckon most 13 year old boys could do it. In fact - most 13 year old girls could do it too. My cat could do it. ( Even Sir Alex Ferguson could do it. Arsene Wenger didn't see it.. )

2 - The first 11-14 odd players are now pretty damn good - and easily the match of the best in the premiership.

A PRIMARY strikeforce of Carrol & Suarez - backed up by Kuyt + one. A midfield 3, 4 or 5 - picked from Gerrard, Henderson, Adam, Lucas, Downing, Mereiles. Backed up (I guess) - by Cole, Maxi and Spearing. A defence led by Carra, Johnson, Kelly, Agger and Skrytel, backed up by Flanagan, Insua (maybe need +1)

OK - it needs a bit more depth. Right?

3 - PICKING the first 11-14 is not what you pay Kenny Dalglish and Steve Clarke loadsa money to do. You don't need complex stats, analysis, training reports and video analysis.

What they do with the first team squad is raise PEAK PERFORMANCE and getting every last drop from these top players, at just the right time. Its as much about mind, attitude and delivery. Suarez? A fully-fired up 100% motivated Suarez will beat the socks off a 95% performing Rooney, Tevez or Aguero. Fact. Its not about August, Sept. Its about May. The reason why the All Blacks have an 80% win rate? Is because they train to play flashy rugby in the LAST 7 MINUTES, not just the first 7 minutes - like most teams. Pre season is not about going out all guns blazing ..

LFC will be judged by how they are in May 2012 - and that, I guarantee you - is what KK is looking at. That is a TEN month programme of team development..

4 - A lot of the ELITE SQUAD / SENIOR TEAM work is done all behind closed doors, with some really, really, really serious A versus B versus C squad games. An Aussie friend (coach, invited to LFC..) once went to such a session and he could not believe the intensity - it gets pretty hairy and tempers fray. These sessions are a long, long, long way from money making friendlies around the world with reserve squads with lots of smiles, and changes at half time.

5 - The reason Kenny & Steve get paid handsomely;

A - Get peak performance out the first team squad
B - Plan for contingencies / 6-10 months
C - Coach those players up and coming ..
D - Recruit talent - that fits a plan./
E - Nurture / OR - Divest in under performing

6 - Effective teams normally divide the rest of the squad into PROBABLES and POSSIBLES. These are the players who may, if coached and nurtured - step up.

And that is what KK is looking for in these games...

LFC need depth - and you cannot just buy that because if they were already operating at their Peak, then they would expect first team football somewhere else. Simples eh? You have to find, nurture, hone it. Its called - coaching and management.

Managing well performing, happy, brilliantly skilled people is easy. Getting someone who is unhappy, underperforming, under skilled, de-motivated to turn it around: that is real ART, CRAFT and SCIENCE.

A dash of Dalglish magic goes a long way too...

7 - PRESEASON: Possibles & Probables ..

Seriously - at what point in the past 4 weeks have we seen LFC rolling out their first team squad, tactics, commitment levels? Answer: we haven't. What a waste that would be. Its about POSSIBLES and PROBABLES. I think KK will be making sure all the top 15 players are getting rested, massages, good food, gym sessions, relaxing and getting their heads right and building their core fitness whilst not damaging anything.

8 - LFC does not, has not, should not just go out and buy the number one player in the world in every position. No. LFC - makes superstars. John Barnes came from Watford FC and that incredible talent was nurtured, trained and honed. OK - at times, LFC has spent big to bring special players in to the mix (from Dalglish to Collymore, from Torres and Suarez). But - look at the history, the players LFC has created.

9 - LFC are not banging in six goals in every pre-season match because that is not the point of pre-season.

Kenny and Steve are using their footballing eyes, ears, and brains to spot what we cannot. Who can step up? Who needs more conditioning? What's wrong with him? What's right with that guy? The question I'd love to know is - what are they looking at? Its not the result thats for sure. Its how the indiviudals are performing, in what is essentially a B or C squad.

10 - PREDICTION:

I think Kenny will surprise people and shape another talent this year. Last year, he nurtured Lucas, Merieles, Kelly, Flanagag. Who's next?

As much as I think I distrust politicans, scumbag journalists and lying estate agents - I absolutley know that KK is looking for players he can IMPROVE, that he can add to his elite squad ..

11 - WHO WILL IT BE?

Who in the current squad of Possibles and Probables, will break through under the masterful gaze of KK? Who will get the extra early morning coaching or fitness sessions, to turn them from rough diamond to a priceless gem? Looking at the current preseason games and squad, here for debate ... some tricky ones..

Joe Cole. Can KK get his mojo back?
Pacheco. Work in progress? Or, ready to unleash?
Shelvey: Real deal? Or just a bargain sale?
Coady: Is he ready to step up? Really?

'You're in the side to score goals - so just concentrate on that' - Kenny Dalglish

Can Aquilani pfff off now in order for us to get a proper CB and LB. Degen quite honestly is not even worth being called a footballer, he is that rubbish. It is players like these who are stalling further signings to our squad. We need a proper CB and LB more than what we need Aquilani. If anyone thinks Insua and Soto are going to keep clean sheets than we they are deluded, they are not good enough. Aquilani might have talent but last night with no time on the ball he was useless. He will struggle in the EPL, why can those who want him to stay not see it?

The EPL is a fast paced game, way faster than the Serie A. Aquilani had a good season in the Serie A because he is suited to the conditions in Italy. There is no way that he is going to be allowed the space and time he had against Italian teams when he features against the likes of Stoke, Bolton, Wolves, Utd, Blackburn and infact all EPL teams. He will be murdered.

I am still confident that he will move back to Italy but he might be the reason for us not adding players to our defence which is critical. Insua is not good enough, Agger is Injury prone, Soto is as passed it, Aurelio is probably injured again, Skrtel won't make it into any top 4 team and Carra who I still hold in high regard is getting on aswell.

There might be a light at the end of the tunnel though, FSG could decide to go ahead with some more signing as we need to finish in the top 4. No CL in 2012/2013 will spell problems for us. We have been out of the CL for 2 seasons now and it will be priority this time round. We are loaded with options in our attack especially the midfield but If we do not sign some quality defenders it might just tell a sorry tale.

Go Aquilani go...

Posted on banter before but I want to place a rumour/theory out there.

I think that KK and DC are playing the waiting game for Dann and Enrique. Both players want to leave and will leave regardless from their prospective clubs. Dann wants liverpool as does Enrique if Arsenal do not follow up their interest.

The three remaining signings will be:

Dann
Enrique
Forlan

Business done. Lets hope that the unwanted fringe players leave this season and trim the squad down. With these players in I think that next season we would only be looking at adding one player maybe two at a stretch to polish the squad off.

Not a rumour though please post anyway ed
Fans Vote: If money was no object who would you prefer out of Cahill or Dann
Believable = Dann
Unbieveable = Cahill
Personally I don't know who I prefer?...though with a gun to my head I would go for Cahill

RE: Suarez being small like Mata-
Suarez is 5ft 11 inches. If thats small then I'm a dwarf at 5ft 9 inches.... You need to get your facts straight, or change your ideas on little and large. Mata is 5ft 7 inches, so Suarez is 4 inches taller, and he is also quite clearly a much bigger build. Having said that, I'd have taken Mata in our squad anyway.
I'd certainly have chosen Downing ahead of Mata though, hes proven in the league, and he tends to deliver more, and higher quality crosses than the central attacker Juan Mata. If you question why i think that is a positive, have a look at the guy we bought last January. Carroll i think his name was? He's not bad in the air you know ;)

Why are there so many concerns on whether players will adapt to prem life and therefore being put off any foeigner? Suarez is small and "lightweight" but he has become probably one of our best players in a matter of games. It's not all about strength some players are able to use very good dribbling and speed to beat the lumbering big defenders in this league. So players like Turan and Mata, who are fantastic dribblers are more than capable to be a success in our team. And would also be much better adapt to Champions League than Downing and Adam.

Wish people would put an end to this, hes an average player playing in a rubbish team so he looks good. In my own experience and from what you see, playing in a great team makes you look great, playing in a bad team can bring you down. So less of the Adam, Downing, Henderson, Scott Dann only looked good because they played in a poor team, its rubbish and really annoys me, RANT OVER

Guillem Balague has said that we knew that Mata was available for 20 million euros but we got downing and now we are not interested any more. Personally I would of rather had Mata.

29 Jul 2011 16:03:03
I am happy with the Downing signing but if we are to really challenge, we need more than Downing. A good squad has 2 good players for each position on the left wing we have Downing and who?

I don't count Maxi and Cole there as they are fillers. We need another left winger, who can come come in and do a job for us for the times when Downing may be injured, off form or tired. It may not be Juan Mata who answers this problem, but I think it's still an area that needs strengthening.

I completely agree with u with the likes of man city getting all these decent players we don't stand a chance of getting 4th we need to sell all our sh*t players and were not gonna get the great players until we get champions league football.

You can only sell if you have a buyer. If you owned a football club would you pay millions for the players we need to lose? Thought not.

what kind of reception do u think poulsen will get at anfield this season as it is obvious hes only here for money no chance of him leaving even do hes not wanted by management and fans also i think we would b better playing with ten men than playing the greek what a liability gives away so many pens and soft goals he undoes good work at the other end i think people should wait at least ten games before passing judgement on are new side

I read this site daily, I have no "sources" and absolutely no rumours to share.

However, I have read todays posts and i'm a little disheartened by the negativity amongst everyone.

OK, so last nights game wasnt inspiring, but given that the team bore no resemblance to the one Kenny will put out over the coming season, does it truly warrant the negativity?

As for the ridiculous comments regarding Juan Mata and how our transfer policy is "worrying", I'm sorry to say I totally disagree.

Under Kenny, we beat Utd, Chelsea and City, even missing key players like Stevie in these games. As many have said, our form under Kenny was good enough for a 2nd place finished.

Add to that form the likes of Downing, Adam, Henderson and a fit Gerrard, Carroll, Agger etc. I for one believe we are in very good shape.

Downing, Adam and Henderson were in the top 6 players for creating chances in the PL last season. Andy was amongst the leagues top scorers before injury and, frankly, he looked frightening at times.

So, I for one believe an incredibly productive season is ahead. I trust in what Kenny is doing, I believe he is bringing the right players to the club and that we will continue to move forwards under his management.

To all the Andy doubters, please feel free to contact one of the ed's for my email address and I'll happily wager a fiver with you on Andy netting 20+gls this season.

I think last night was a great result all round. It could of been an even bigger defeat with the players we had on display I think kenny may have been giving a chance to some players he may have been undecided about a chance to show their worth and of course they failed and can be pushed now to move them on. The result was not an issue but the players ability was underlining the fact that we have a decent 1st team and a half respectable bench after that barring some decent youngsters we're pretty threadbare. With a couple of decent signings we should comfortably compete for euro place as i'm sure that will be this seasons target and anything else is a bonus Bring on the new season and let the real players stand up and the revival begin A.b.

29 Jul 2011 15:51:17
Does the Diego Forlan story have any legs? FSG, KK and DC have said that they wont sign anyone without a re-sale value and that they are after players for the long term.

The story seems to highlight exactly the opposite of what the club want to do. However, I personally think it is true. If we look at a striker this season then we won't be able to get a top notch striker because of not being in Europe. My theory is that Liverpool believe Forlan will act as a back up, linking with Suarez when played. He will leave at the end of the season, at which point we should have hopefully qualified for Europe. We will then be able to attract a high calibre striker that, I am assuming, will turn us down this year. Also, I believe that a striker is a priority, but not a high one in comparison to other positions.

Overall, I think the Forlan move, although it goes against their policy, makes total sense in my opinion. If the finances are all directed at the more high priority positions, then the signing of Forlan on loan is, in effect a straight swap for Jovanovic, who has the same wages as Forlan I think.

Thoughts anyone?

Quick question i havent seen any of the Liverpool pre season games, who has been playing in the back?

29 Jul 2011 15:37:48
I dont know how tall Juan Mata is, but i've read enough places that Suarez because he's been compared to Tevez in the past he's considered short. Maybe because he's got a low centre of gravity especially being as tall as he is at 5 11 he's not short by any means. When you look at the picture of Suarez and Carroll with K.K in the middle of them after first signing its suprising the lack of differeance in height between the. Unless Suarez is stood on a box their looks to be just a few inches in it, suprised me when i looked at it recently. Just posted this not to be clever but by the way he plays and like i said his low centre of gravity, and the way he backs in and rolls defenders, he does play at least like he's shorter then he is. I'm sure he'll be looking forward to getting on the end of some of Downing's crosses as well, not just Big Andy. Jonson6

Afternoon Eds and all,

I see people are hoping for Godin bid, he does look good - however can he adapt to EPL?

Coloccini is ringing in my ears for some reason, I have concerns and would prefer Cahill for same money.

CB is a hard and tough role, I want Hyypia back - but younger

Eds whats your take? Dann is most likely as I said earlier, but who is currently your odds odds on? Just your opinion and should not be abused for your reply by anyone Thanks and any other comments welcome.

We have way too many average or below average players in our squad, how long do we have to wait till someone realises that we have to build a quality team in order to challenge for the title. im dismayed that dalglish and commolli chose downing instead of mata, and let quality players like payet, boudebouz, zappata, gago etc etc go and we end up paying over the odds for the likes of henderson and adams. unless we get a centre back, left back, attacking midfielder and striker we will have another depressing season where once more we wont realise our potential.

29 Jul 2011 14:22:16
The object of last nights game was to put those up for sale in the shop window (soto, degen, poulson, cole, aqua, insua) and the rest of the lads to gain more fittness.
Of the 18 lads that will be either on the pitch or bench only 6 made a appearance last night, so 12 of our squad didnt play, monday will be more of a preview of our starting squad for this season.
I for 1 recon we will have a good season this year.

Hearing people complain about us getting downing 'instead of' mata I decided to have more of a look at mata clips on youtube just to see what we were missing. He is a central midfielder. I fail to see how a central midfielder would solve our width problem. He's a good player though but we don't need another central midfield player and there's a lot of people saying we don't have enough players who 'can change a game with one piece of magic', I didn't see him do anything all that impressive in that sense, he will however fit in really well at arsenal and I think he'll do very well there.

European football has been weakened by the attention and money that surrounds the Champions League. More should be done to build the prestige of the Europa League.
The winners and runners up of top tier championships should qualify for the Champions League, with the possibility of allowing a third team if they finish third with a points total over 80 points.
Third and fourth placed teams should be entered into the Europa League. Better prize money and sponsorships would also build the reputation of the Europa League.
The Cup winners cup should be brought back for all teams that win other domestic trophies that are not part of the championship league. The Cup winners cup should carry prestige, but not on the same level as the Europa League and Champions League. A team should be able to participate in the Cup winners cup and Champions League if they qualify for both.

If Arsene Wenger has agreed to smash Arsenal's transfer record by paying £18 million for Valencia winger Juan Mata (source: Daily Express)......

......Why are we not in the running to sign him?. £18m is a bargain for a player of that quality and i think he will be able to hack it in the BPL. People on here have been saying that he's too small etc, well look at
Suarez. He's only short yet he kicks ar*e.

STOP comparing mata to downing there is no comparison. yes downing cost more but he is english u have to accept that. we did not go for mata as we were looking for a LW who will hug the sideline and whip in crosses which mata would never have done he would have cut in which just would have not worked

Poulsen maybe sold if wages aren't a problem.Aqua will be sold his agent just talking.Degen will be soldloaned to german or swiss club with a view to buy.Jones will be loaned to a championship club.If we can get a decent fee for ngog he will be sold 90% .Th e greek timber will be sold to a greek side for 500k to 1 mill. Not sure about insua depends on aurelio situation. If kk does not believe aurelio will be a backup for the lb we are going to buy due to injuries he will be sold to a brazilian side.

With our main rivals strongly linked to players considered to be world class, most, if the rumours are to be believed, costing either less, or about the same as we have paid for our recent signings, where do you think we will finish in the league if they sign these players.

oh well reality has hit most of us reds today like a paving slab in the face ........4th spot ...we r having a laugh ...we still need 4-5 decent players ....fact ......when are the powers that be going to realize we need PACE in the team ......yesterdays first half was torturous....like watching 10 blind slugs trying to play football .....help .......i hope stevie g is fit for the start of the season or we are in big doo doo

Degen should be escorted out of Melwood today and taken to John Lennon Airport and given a one way ticket to Knowhersville. Quite simply the worst player to have had the honour to wear the Liverpool red in the last 20 years.

Hello Eds,

Its been a long time since i have posted on the site but I've logged in many times a day to keep up to date with all the gossip. Your all doing the most fantastic jobs

Id appreciate it if you would post this on the rumours page because i just wanted to put my opinion across to all the people criticising our signings and management team.

I have seen a lot of displeased posts regarding Damien Comolli and his signings. He's getting slated for getting us to pay a lot of money for English talent such as downing instead of paying 5 million less for Mata I just think its pathetic to even compare the two when we have just bought someone who has probably been itching to get a move to a big club like Liverpool who can actually produce a stupid amount of pin point crosses which is perfect for andy carroll. Hes got the second best stats in the league as far as crossing goes and he knows he will have to work his socks off to get into a midfield which currently exceeds 8 taented players. I agree that Mata may have a bit more flair and more individual skill but is that really something we need on the wing when we have so much of it in the centre of midfield along with some very hot prospects at full back and also the one and only El Pistolero Mata doesn't often run down the wings and put in a cross, instead he likes to try and come in and do things himself, so where would that leave £35m signing Andy Carroll if we had no players to allow him to use his most prized asset which is his heading ability. All you people keep saying how bad he is with his pace and first touch so where's the sense to buy a winger who cant cross a ball properly Downing is simply awesome at doing this

I've also seen people saying that our signings have given us no chance to push for a title bid or even a top 4 spot to secure camps league footy, yet before any of these signings happened we came 2nd in the league since kenny took over only a to a team that have been billionairres for the past 6-7 years King Kenny is a priceless signing in itself Surely spending £50m+ this summer cant weaken the team we had last year....if were struggling at Christmas time then I might start to take some of my comments back but im sure I wont have to do that

Another fact about Comolli aswell is that he found Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and lots of other talented players at spurs and arsenal Look at how far spurs have come over the past few seasons.

All i say is that maybe lets not just take the time to slag off the club we love so much and lets at least wait until a couple of months into the season to re assess how well things are going, and maybe then we can express our opinions if things aren't going to plan.

Just while im on here Ed's, id love to know even though you cant give definite answers, who you think the players are who we have maybe a reasonable or outside chance of signing before the window shuts? Maybe the top 3 chances? Id love to find a young strong centre back to eventually take over Jamie C's role at the back, this cash + player offer for Cahill could prove brilliant if the slim chance it has actually has legs. Im also hoping for a talented Asian player to come in like Honda or cheong(spelling) from celtic who could hopefully turn out to be something like Park Ji Sung at spam Obviously Adam Johnson for the right would be a hopeful move and then have Kuyt as back up striker, even though he's arguably too good to use as just a back up

I think its about time we had a strong bench and i am starting to believe that this year it may be taking massive strides of improvement

Thanks a lot for listening everyone, please post in the rumours and again great job to you all

Hey all as promised I again spoke to sammi hypia as he is our guest on rally and big mates with Mikko and I asked him the question that someone asked me to ask him about who he would choose as our centre back if it was his choice and he said no one as we already have 4 carra skyrtle sorry spelling agger and the Greek I said yes but the Greek is s**te and he said yes but it does not matter as he is only fourth choice so I pushed him for a name if he had to choose some one and he said John Terry ha he also told me that he believes that we paid far to much money for downing and Henderson far to much I also asked him what he thought of Andy Carroll and he said he is not sure as how many good seasons has he had? And for the money we paid for him we could have bought an established world class striker but he thinks he has a lot of potential asked about his greatest ever achievement in football and of course we all no what he said Istanbul he also told me he never wanted to leave Liverpool but was pushed out so macca if you do have any conections to Kenny or anyone else high up at the club then please tell them that sammi would come back in a coaching role HHS is just waiting for the phone to ring I could even get his number for them if they have lost it he is a true professional and could do a great job for us come on Kenny bring sammi home maybe going for a beer with him tonight so will try to find out anything else if I can sorry for grammar on phone and can not be apsed

I cannot believe some of the utter crap I am reading. A lot of you have got to be Man Utd or Toffee fan's or our fan base has some real issues. Think back over a year ago and Liverpool were heading for administration, looking like the modern Leeds Utd.

Our team was clearly depressed and our results were poor, hence why I believe Rafa bailed. When Hodgson came in it was totally the wrong time for him and he was partly blinded by the call of a big club, we were totally in the sh*te at this point in time.

I know a lot of people blame him, but I for one do not feel at that stage a lot could be done. Once the take-over from FSG happened (and remember this saved us big time) fans were already calling for his head, but I believe the problem was much deeper (I.e. in the dressing room).

It needed a big strong personality to sort this mess out, hence why KK was asked to come in, I think he is a lot stronger in the dominance role than Roy. He, as all Liverpool fans should know, turned our season around and worked miracles. The signings he has made so far have been excellent, every player was their previous clubs best player and the stats are there for all to see.

Now we have so called fans mocking not only our signings but also the Manager, a total disgrace which leads me to believe they are not fans at all. If these posters are under the age of 15 I can understand a little, but if they are older they should be ashamed of some of the rubbish they post.

Blind faith in KK .the evidence of what he has achieved, not as a player but as a manager is there for all to see. But as some of you clearly have a low I.Q I will remind you. KK was manager the last time Liverpool won the League, he has also won it with Blackburn and more that I won't list. Add to that what he did last season and I question the blind faith attack.

Players we have signed are British, all their previous clubs rejected our first bids so they (smaller clubs) would have rather have kept the player rather than accept the first offer, which was not far from what we signed them for. So how can you call this overvalued. I do agree money in football is stupid but, given the amounts of money flying around, I would not call any over valued.

Carroll is a cheap shot, he could very well be the next big thing, not only for Liverpool but also England. Not since Shearer/Fowler in my opinion has there been a British striker who has this kind of all round game.

Finally have any of you thought what the players would think if they read your lack of support, or don't you care about your club. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and this is mine, but to totally bit*h and slag off players and staff is counter-productive, so why do it.

If you are a fan of another club at least say so, so banter can take place instead of this, just highlights how scared you are of us, to attempt to undermine us in the worst form.
K79

I think the coast is clear.....I'm still of the opinion last night's friendly was pointless. In the golden, olden days we never got to see this type of game as it didn't even register as a significance and when you saw the result you just said 'pre season'.

Nowadays everything is televised and everything is scrutinised and therefore analysed to death with little objectivity. I must admit i didn't do any reading up to the game and switched on a minute before the game started, so i was ill prepared for the team and the fact that so many players hadn't even travelled.

Still i spent the next 45 mins just wondering why we were actually there. Did we have any kind of obligation to be there, something arranged awhile back? Why travel many, many miles to a Country with searing heat and humidity and play the likes of Degen, Robinson in unfamilar positions?

The club are obviously unconcerned with the result despite the furore surrounding another defeat and the manner of the defeat. It has served to make the natives particularly restless, especially after Hull etc.etc. With demi God Aguero going elsewhere and Mata appearing to be available for the cost of a packet of crisps, some are starting to have a meltdown and are starting to put a little too much empathise on the display itself.

If the points were to blood some youngsters and give them valuable experience in the 'hot' atmosphere, fitness to some and the opportunity for others to be put in the shop window i think the majority of the points failed.

Last night showed all and sundry that the filth at the bottom of the barrel is exactly that. Insua, Cole, Poulsen, Kyriagos and Degen did little to stake any claim that they are worthy of the wage and the fact we are not going to find buyers for this lot any time soon.

I felt a little for Robinson who really should have had the experience of playing left back rather than left side midfield. Flanagan didn't really do himself justice and niether did Kelly who looked at sixes and sevens for the first 25 mins. Shelvey was more content to be involved with loony bin Melo and really had that been a Europa League game he would have been sent off and couldn't have moaned, so he was hardly focussed on the job in hand.

Which leds me to Andy Carroll. Have to say this game was designed solely for his fitness and with the type of line up you could hardly say 'Jeez another game where he didn't score.' However he is starting to cut a bit of a frustrated figure and that's the pressure plonked on him with the price tag and the murmurings of discontent from fans who look at Carroll and see Aguero (or wish they were).

He is going to have to accept the mauling he gets from defenders climbing all over him and hugging him like a long lost lover and if you have a weak arsed ref like last night then they are going to get away with murder, however there was enough from him to be mildly pleased in my opinion and had Kelly scored that open goal then Carroll's contribution would have raised. The game would have have been good for his fitness and that would have been the sole objective for him last night.

Last night should serve as a sharp reminder of the lack of quality of many on show, which the length of the owners pockets cannot solve in one foul hit. We must also remind oursleves that 16 first team squad players were unavailable and when you attached the likes of Flanagan, Kelly, Doni, Carroll, Kuyt, Spearing into that mix we will be absolutely fine.

Again the question still remains. Who in their right mind will pay high wages and a transfer fee for Cole, Poulsen, Degen, Insua, Aquilani, Kyriagos?

We are not like Man City and decide to have a 120% ratio of wages to turnover, we have to be a lot more savvy than that. Until the problems inherited from the previous regimes in the boardroom and in the boot room are solved, we can not expect to go slamming into any transfer window like Man City.

We all knew this. Shanks didn't build Anfield in a day and niether can Dalglish re build it in a day. Take the pre season for what it is, loads of subs, build fitness, do not over exert, watch your feet (white spirit, your own urine, a bowl to harden skin), a bit of experimenting, a bit of fine tuning, all in readiness for the bigger picture 13th August 2011.

Then lick lips and be ready for....oh God dodgy start....doom and gloom merchants are out in force after 2 games.....aahh sod that, that's for late August

After watching the Galatasaray game last night it suddenly occured to me that KK has been left a squad from the prievious regime that are not fit for the championship. Looks like Liverpool will have to take a financial hit in order to move at least 10 players on. Ngog, Deggen, Insua, Ayala, Poulson,
Cole, Kyriagos (spelling) Aquallani, Jones, Spearing?
I also think we need to invest in a top class CB
and a good solid LB. I think G Johnson is versatile enough to be used on the RW.

People constantly making comments with Carroll he was scoring at will with good service in a average Newcastle side, he was injured end of last year, put him in the team next to Suarez and Downing ( who assisted his England goal ) as well as Gerrard and Adam in midfield then judge

Ed I've heard that there's been rumours of lucas leaving as he thinks there will be no place for him in the team anymore is this true? Cheers. {Ed002's Note - There have certainly been rumours. I have no idea of what Lucas "thinks" so am unable to say if they are true or not.}

geez i wish everyone would stop moaning about the team, give the guys a chance for fecks sake, i can see anfield empty for the sunderland game because everyone will be outside with dalglish and yonks out banners,
to stop the moaning lets get roy back, sell suarez, carroll, downing, adam, henderson, and give new contract to poulsen and get konchesky back, disband the academy none of them have latin sounding names,
yes im pe ed off with the friendlies but theres still a long way to go, lets see what happens come the sunderland game,

29 Jul 2011 12:50:34
Pre- season so far, scored 10 conceeded12, the first 10 games of the season are all tricky, arsenal, Man Utd and spuds among those games, with such lack of depth to the defence, we could see a repeat of last seasons dreadful start, two more pre season games too go and thing look bleak.

rumour has it the eds are to go on strike like the southampton city council cus they dont whant to deal with half this rubish either.... any thruth in this eds? :) {Ed002's Note - Certainly there seems to be a very large number of fans not happy with any of the players, the management or the owners. By tomorrow last night will have been forgotten and there will be a new number one subject.}

My perspctives on last nights match. Even though that was nowhere near the side that will play against Sunderland, it was a poor performance. In the 1st half on Shelvey, Flanagan and Kelly could come out with some positives. Andy Carroll and Joe Cole looked a lot fitter and mobile. The 2nd half was much improved, though that wasn't hard to do. Aquilani flickered and had some nice moments, Dirk's movement was good. Andy Carroll's attitude irked me a little, constantly complaining to the referee over injustices at corners - should put more effort into getting on the end of the cross rather than grappling with his opponent. The defence needs addressing, Insua is unable to hold his position - he was often too narrow or wide and play could easily be hit to his flank. Soto though he tries hard just isn't good enough. The youngsters experiencing such an atmosphere can only stand them in good stead for the future.

It's clear we haven't finished in the transfer window, we obviously need to strengthen in defence and attack. In midfield we're well stocked, but for me the lack of width hasn't been fully addressed. Downing on the left will give width but on the right Kuyt, Maxi and Cole all like to come inside. Henderson can do a job on the right, but his natural position is in the middle, and we really shouldn't play players out of position (Kuyt this season should be a striker not winger). We need to widen our play in order to make full use of Adam and Gerrard's passing ability. We did this last season, I know its preseason, but we have yet to see anything like that sort of play in any of the preseason games.

29 Jul 2011 12:18:04
There is no strength in depth in the defence, its a real concerne, goal differane can make or break our season, this needed to be addressed earlyer, so as to bed players into the squad before the season starts, another poor start to the season and we can kiss our top four chances goodbye.

hi ed, im looking at the friendlies in an optomistic way, i may be wide of the mark, but what if kk is playing a blinder by not playing our starting 11 in a full game as to not show our competition our qualities,
they could all be playing together in training, if everyone thinks we are crap that could lull them into false sense of security, imagine if we play sunderland they think this will be easy and we go through them like crap through a goose, they wont know whats hit them,
we all know kk is a very canny and could be holding his cards close to his chest, does that make sense ed or should i get back to my crayons, jimmybosun, {Ed002's Note - It makes zero sense to me I am afraid Jimmy.}

HI ED i must say im a little concerned at the pre season so far.The players ive seen in this pre season for me do not bold well for the squad in general i will list the players that should go

brad jones
daniel ayala (absolutly rubbish)another s**t beitez signing.
soritis kyriagkos (again rubbish)
emiliano insua (really terrible left back)
alberto aquilani (it shows how good the italian league is if he was one of the players out there)
joe cole (well we all no why his got to go nearly 100,000 a week and he cannot even play football anymore well done roy hodgson for that one)
christian poulson (crap) well done again roy.
jay spearing for me is not good enough i dont care what people say about team this team that so what u r all saying is that barcelona and real madrid ad scum uniteds so called flashy players dont work for the team im sorry but i dont know about finishing i champions league we will be lucky to get into the top 6 watch this space.

i mean did u watch the game against galatasary what a joke i know u have to put these players in the shop window but i felt sick if that was man united on tour they would play at least a starting eleven of first team players but no kenny puts a heap of f**king s**t out im still in alot of doubt about kenny taking the raines and also if i was a galatasary director i would refuse liverpool the money for turning up dot get me started on the pile of s**t summer signings iam not a big kenny fan look at his days at celtic and newcastle.

29 Jul 2011 12:04:34
There are a dozen players i would have preferred over Downing especially for the fee that we paid. I am concerned about the quality we have bought this summer overall taking into account the money we have spent. It will sum it all up if Mata goes for less than 20 million. He is a quality player and we should have got him. A very disappointed red.

29 Jul 2011 12:02:21
STOP EVERyTHING
I am lead to believe that the Aguero deal to city is just a smokescreen. He has in fact signed with us, but city are paying us a portion (10m) of his transfer fee for him to pose as the new city 'pin up boy' in a bid to make carlos Tevez jealous. Hard to believe i know, but they really want to keep their captain and key man and will stop at nothing. They are even considering to pay for the whole of the manchester people to learn how to speak spanish just to make his family comfortable.

Whats with needing players with premiership experience? If we needed that then why buy three players with experience in the premiership of relegation battles. Its complete nonsense we premiership experience, we need quality regardless of which league they played in. Suarez came in the middle of the season and done fantastic. He played in the dutch league same place we brought Ryan Babel (regardless of how good he was for us he was still high rated at the time). Remember Harry Kewell, had tonnes of premiership experience same as Pennant who was the best crosser in the league before he joined us. They weren't good enough. I hope I'm wrong but get the same feeling from Downing etc.

29 Jul 2011 11:49:44
Can some one tell me what Mata has done to warrant a World Class tag please. Very good player yes, World class, give your head a wobble. He's done nothing to to warrant this world class player some people are describing as. Why do you think their is only 1 and i'll write it out just so you heard me, ONE club in Arsenal are interested in the so called 23 year old so called world class player. I do rate him highly but not that its likely to happen i'd prefer Affaly then Mata. If Mata plays wide left for Arsenal which if he does he'll be coming inside a lot not whipping balls in, but if he does i bet Downing has more assists, score's more goals and will finally get the recognition he deserves, England wise and more importantly Liverpool will feel the benefit of his vastly under rated talent . Last point, a 23 year old world class player costs 38mil ala Aguero not 17mil ala Mata. Jonson6

I'd rather hav Cahill and Dann than Agger and Skrtel. With Johnson and hopefully Baines we can hav an English back four. Any thoughts Ed?

Hey all, After watching the last two friendlies, I have to say we played just like we did under Benitez in his last season. We have looked really unfit in comparison to the opposition and we have no pace in the team and watching Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal recently, They all looked so much quicker, smoother and playing good football on the ground. I'm depressed already and the season has'nt even started.

Rashid.

29 Jul 2011 11:43:16
I really think we should concentrate
on a third striker and poss right
winger as we still need width and if
something happens to Suarez i dont
know where the goals are going to
come from... We need aaron lennon,
adam johnson or arda turan... plus
get Dann for CB. Its been frustratin
watching the last 2 friendlies and
Kuyt does a good job on the right
wing but hes not going to run at the
defence is he? If we could only
afford one more person I think it
should be a right winger with Kuyt
as back up striker.

A crazy-legs special

breaking News; lucky none of you lot are no-way near my beloved liverpool. Because wow we would be in blue square with trillion pound debt. Now please shut the hell up going on about other teams, and players from other teams we've got our own you know?
Hahaha to all them comparing kk singing's to other unproven prem players, C'mon you guys judging kk abilities in the transfer market, wen was u lot born?
Did you know kk won the prem with blackburn. Not many managers could do that. Give it time. And he'll have right back were we belong trust.

If Arsenal sign Mata for 19m, then WTF is going on? We have only signed one player that we as fans could see was worth the money since FSG came in. We're not blind, like even a blind man can see if it's Mata vs Downing, it's Mata all day, cheaper, younger...can somebody tell me WHAT THE F*** is going on??

29 Jul 2011 11:16:35
Yes last night was disappointing but 9 of the 11 starters were second string players (Carroll and Kelly excepted and Kuyt in the second half). Galatasary is a notoriously difficult place to play at and Flanagan, Robinson and Shelvey will better off for the experience. The other 9 starters merely confirmed their fringe or deadwood status. We have at least 13 players who did not start yesterday's game who would walk into yesterday's starting 11. Reina, Carra, Agger, Johnson, Skirtel, Downing, Adam, Henderson, Meireles, Gerrard, Lucas, Suarez, Kuyt. Add to them Kelly, Carroll, Maxi, the young Flanagan, Robinson and Shelvey and we have the basis of very promising squad. If we could just shift 3-4 of the high earning deadwood KK would then have the room to make couple more additions to give us the further depth we need. Reality Red

I know last nite was only a friendly but we have brought in new players who are going go need games to quickly gel and im worried that we are using these games to try and get rid of half the chancers that call themselves professionals who would want any of them they are useless they bring nothing to our great club and shouldnt be blessed with wearing our famous jersey sorry about the rant great sight eds i just cant get enough :-)

I dont understand why u lot are getting soooooooooooooooo worked up about? Yes we played cr@p yes the players on show (bar a few) should never wear a Liverpool shirt again......but its only pre-season not to mention no where near a starting 11. This is where weget the cr@p games out of our system. Why would u send your 1st team half way round the world for 1 night only in that heat and risk injuries. U would b crazy. KK was protecting his players andjust let Carroll play to lose his beer gut. This was simply a PR stunt that probably wentwrong because of the result. Yes I agree players should give blood and guts playing for us so there is your answer...these boys dont want to so dont deserve to play for us. Its probably a ploy by kk to show the owners that our reserves need improving so please spend more money. Lol

LFC will buy either Dann or Cahill, Johnston will play LB and Kelly will be RB. We have Flanno and Robinson, as well as aurillo when fit. The Korean will then be bought as back-up striker

SOTOS: WHY THE F**K IS QUEEN KENNY PLAYING SOTOS AS CAPTAIN? HES SLOWER THAT A SNAIL AND A PENALTY IN THE WAITING.

POULSEN: What does any1 see good in this guy? He cant mark tackle, pass, break up play, change defense into attack, unlock defenders or standard on his own 2 feet. Hes the WORST ever Liverpool player, worse than THAN a MAN trying to Play Netball AND A PENALTY IN THE WAITING.

Degen: Dont no what or he can do what does he do for 40k+ a week and kids are starving around the world. Retire and give your wages to charity.

Ngog: Been put in the deep end by Liverpool and i would say needs to drink some weight gain, get in the gym as hes never bullied any defense in his life. Hes not Liverpool Quality

Jones: Ok back up but not a big fan of his.

Insua: Looked good at st probably cant turn out good but time is something that we don't have so get rid and cash in on him.

Ince: Nothing like your dad such a same i would sell or maybe loan?

Morning eds hope you are all well. Very disappointed in the Gala result but what could we expect with the side that was put out.WE looked very dis-jointed and also uninterested at times. We need some far better results from our final pre-season games to bring some confidence to the team.I know there is a lot of talk about Cahill and Dann lately and they would add some steel to the creaking rearguard, but I was wondering if there was any thoughts about having another bash at Micah Richards, he was obviously rated highly and a bid lodged any chance of us going back for him? I know that we need to shift some fringe players before adding but its very apparent we need better strength in depth.Any info on any other possible deals would be appreciated (keep up the excellent work)

Why do fans write i'll probably get slaughtered for this but here goes and all that s**t. End of the day Carroll played up front for the B team last night with no f***in quality out wide, scored as many goals as Torres has for Chelsea this pre season but everyone was waiting for the real Nando to get his form back since the world cup, it'll come he's class. Well were a year down the line and besides missing a large chunk of last season due to injuries Carroll still out scored him in the Prem playing for Newcastle then Us. How many chance did most fans let Torres get away with his sulky sullen attitude, a great f***in deal. I'll tell you another great deal, Torres and Babel out, Suarez and Carroll in. Amazing how quick people are to write off players who are tall but dont play centre half, we'll see this banter page slowly start to evolve from good goals by Carroll, still not convinced to wow what a signin he turned out to be. I suppose being foreign have Torres an auto i'm from Spain so i'll come good in the end card. Same with Mata who people seem to assume he's miles better then Downing even though their is Arsenal and only Arsenal in the whole of Europe who want to sign him. If Mata does end up at Arsenal, re of were both they and us end up, i bet Downing plays more games, has more assists and scores more goals. Only way Mata will beat him on goals will be if he's played as a second striker, not a f***in left winger . Jonson6

Hello Eds,

Noticed it's all gone a bit quiet on the rumours front lately after being linked with every player under the sun over the past few weeks. I read all the rumours daily (like every other poor addict), but what do you expect the next exciting instalment in our multi-million pound Imperial Leather soap to be? Or have we shut up shop for the duration now? Could it be summarised as, "Sell surplus, shore up defence?" or can we look forward to a little thrill, drawing on your considerable collective leaky s(auces / ources: delete as applicable).

Appreciate your feedback, as ever.

Dr. S. Atire. {Ed002's Note - The situation has been explained ad nausium.}

KK & DC really need to sign a few players if we are going to win the title. Scott Dann needs to sign because thats 4 pre season games and 12 goals let in simply not good enough. lvaro Pereira been watching insua last few games he is simply not good enough. and Pereira looks good in the copa america. and last is Xherdan Shaqiri only one winger in downing and Shaqiri would be brilliant quick , Dribbling would be superb.

I really don't understand friendlies. Why do we field players that everyone knows won't be in the starting line up during the season. We know they aren't good enough to get into the first team so what use is a friendly fielding such players? Surely, it would be more beneficial to play those players (permitting they are not injured or otherwise engaged) that are going to in the starting XI to get their fitness levels up and so they can gel as a team before the first game of the season. It just baffles me.

why are we not going for adam johnson? it looks like sunderland will get him on a season loan... i just don't understand kenny transfers at the moment. hopefully he knows what he is doing..and why dont we get elia or mata as well and a left back and a back up striker, i just dont understand unless he starts playing gerrard upfront

Sorry Ed's, but I'm not trying to have a go at you but I'm just wondering why my post didn't get posted before. I had just received that from my source, and just because you and many many others seem to disagree that Mata could come to Liverpool does not mean you shouldn't post it.

Sorry if this feels like I'm having a go at you, I just don't understand why I wasn't posted.

Thanks, James. {Ed002's Note - It was posted James.}

Right we know you tube can make even gash players look great, posted it yesterday in a long post but if anyone is still wondering why we bought Downing, their's a trainin vid on for a min called 'Stewart Downing Pinpoint Accuracy' and i doubt many other then Charlie Adam would get close to doing what he does on it. Please fans and doubter's check it out i'm sure you'll be more then impressed. Then you might realise why we bought Stew Downing rather then Juan Mata. Ps comments from both sides of the fence most welcome. Jonson6

29 Jul 2011 10:09:22
I'll probably get burnt for this, but what the hell... People keep saying that carrol needs service, he's not 100% match fit, blah blah... BUT when you buy a player for 35million POUNDS {thats roughly 390million rand where i come from and you'll be set for life with that} dont you at least expect that player to have that little bit extra? Fernando torres (yes, that one) even at 10% match fit scored some great goals for us out of absolutely nothing. Bottom line is when you spend 35m pounds on a player you expect something special and carrol is not at all that special. Even ed001 said a few months ago that carrol wont fit into our system and he was right, add to that we spent a further 20m pounds on downing just to supply carrol. Thats 55m worth of risk. If it pays off, excellent and ill hold my hands up but if it doesnt one of this great club's legendary figures might end up with a tarnished reputation. Feel free to add to this. And if you slam me please keep it in mind i dont know you sticks and stones...

Ed,

Rather than posting a rumour, can I just have your opinion on the match last night and also on the prospect of pushing for top for with the team we have.

Please post in rumours so I know where to look. {Ed002's Note - Firstly the Rumours page is for Rumours. I don't have time to critique matches I am afraid but I expect that Liverpool will be competing for European places.}

If we are playing a 4-4-2 formation, with Stevie in the middle, who would you choose alongside him? Press agree for Lucas and disagree for Adam.

29 Jul 2011 10:00:30
Ed(s). A suggestion. Can you add a box to the top of the pages containing "latest info"...

For example, you could use it to state obvious things which some people simply don't get. For example:

"Mata won't be joining LFC. Downing was first choice because he's English and will provide Andy Carroll with the type of service that he thrives off"

Another option would be to ban mata from any posts because they're simply insulting to LFC management.

Can we all just get behind the team for once?
The way people are doubting the king is ridiculous, look at the job he did in the second half of the season, how can you not trust this guy?
Ok we may have overpaid for some players, and people are moaning about us getting players like downing over mata, carroll over aguero, however these are the players that Dalglish believes will make the team better, so just get behind the team
The way people are writing us off is beyond ridiculous, and to be honest is making me feel our fans aren't as great as i used to think

We did leave Downing, Adam, Henderson, Carra, Aggar, Johnson and Reina at homeause of game on Monday... Still got Lucas, Suarez, Skirtel, Gerrard to come back... Starting 11 against Sunderland could be something like (very different to last night)

Reina

Kelly, Carra, (Skirtel/Aggar), Johnson

Henderson, (Lucas/Mierles), Adam, Downing

Kuyt, Carroll

Subs: Suarez, (Lucas/Mierles), Doni, Flanno, Cole, Roinbson,

Last night meant nothing really, but, that team of sorts need to play a game together soon I hope... defence is poor

Regarding:I cant understand our transfer policy and spending. We pay 20mil for downing , that i dont rate highly and arsenal get mata who is world class for 17 mil. wtf.....
-------------------------------------
Seriously what is wrong with some of our own supporters, you are questioning Kenny's knowledge of what he's doing and slagging a new player who's only played 45mins for us.

All you dreamers need to wake up, most of the high profile players and 'star' names like Aguero, Mata, Sanchez, Hazard that you all claimed we were after are unfortunately out of our range for the time being because we aren't in the Champions League. What makes you think that any of these players would/will be able to cope with the rigours of the Premier League? None of them are renowned for their great strength or tracking back or in truth general team ethics as they are very selfish players, yes they are very talented players and of course I'd love to see them playing for us, but let's see how good they are on a wet, cold, December night in Stoke or Wolverhampton getting kicked 10ft in the air.

Kenny is building a team of proven, young, talented players who know how hard and physical the English game is and have shown they can deal with it.

Get a grip and as supporters do as the word states and support

Rant over.

I have watched spanish football for 10 yrs
And I have watched mata since he broke into the valencia team...and when david silva played....

And I can easily say.......joaquin and vicente are the best wingers
Mata is tiny..get barged off the ball a lot..and is that tippy tappy type arsenal player....he wud be crap for us
Also what had david silva done for man city?? Has he even scored 10 goals?? And his assists are crap too?

Downing is by far the most effective U guys r just looking at the NAME and not how they actually play.

I wont be as harsh as some of you on here
but there was nothing gained from last
nights game. If for whatever reason the
better players were not playing they
should of been replaced with youngsters
( Coady, Sterling, Suso ect ). There is
no way players like Kyrgiakos, Insua,
Degan and Poulson should play for LFC
again. We did not need last nights game
to know this so it was a total waste of
time playing them. If you are going to play
Carrol then he needs support and last
nights game was pointless for Carrol apart
from getting his fitness better.
We need to start playing the better
players and start getting the winning
mentality ready for Sunderland.

It may only be a friendly and it may only be pre-season, and that may have only been a reserve team but still they should all be striving for the future and making the first team on recent performances the futures not so bright. to say that we were better in the sewcond have for the last two games just doesnt cut it, 90 mins gents not 45, are we going to here this all season, it not really an excuse. and to say that the teams that we have played are a couple of weeks ahead of us in fitness and prep is not an excuse either, there is no reason for it. time for players to gel well kinda an excuse buut the best players should be able to slot in with minimal disruption. to say that we are waiting on a few players returning not an excuse sounds like liverpool of old not being able to play without gerrard and torres. andy will be great as soon as he gets the service, i have complete faith in KK but have been suprised at our lavish spending on areas that have good players.

Just read a post saying this person understands the transfer policy but why pay 20 mil for downing an arsenal look like getting a world class player for less, who said he is world class? Just cos he plays in the Spanish league doesn't make him world class, perfect example is David silva, supposedly world class, an cost more than downing, but who has the better stats. The average downing. I think downing will b a revelation this season personally. I also heard on paper talk Sunderland r lookin to get Adam Johnson on loan, got to b worth a punt.

If pre season was about getting fit then stop playing third rate players that are not going to be in the starting eleven, plenty of time for them to get fit while the first team are playing. these team selections have made no sense, when the season starts the first XI are going to be soooo unfit and unprepared for a game.

As was stated probably umpteen times yesterday, those that played (erm I mean ambled around looking fairly lost with the concept of foot and ball) to be in the 'shop window' hardly covered themselves in glory and in all likelihood lost value following the shambolic nature of their non-performance. Personally don't really give a monkeys and it may not be a particularly bad thing. Genuinely the club would be better off selling degen, insua, poulsen, kyriakos at no value simply to remove them from the wage bill rather than holding out for a fee at the risk of them staying. Oh and could anyone tell me why Cole looks goosed after approximately 90 seconds. I have never seen a player with his hands on his hips as much and looking so physically exhausted after doing practically nothing. At least he seems to be trying though. Also felt really sorry for Robinson last night being played on left wing in front of insua, he didn't really stand a chance and hope his confidence isn't dented after being part of the first half non entity. On a positive note its Friday, get drunk tonight, forget about the game yesterday and start telling myself again that with a bit of luck next season we may snatch the title.

The glass is half full, every cloud and all that.

Morning all,

Love this site. Check it several times a day - keeps me sane at work

Anyway, I just wanted to get peoples view on the transfer window to date and the signing mades so far -espcially in comparison to the other big teams

I have very mixed feelings I must admit. On one hand the new owners have shown their intent by digging deep and coming up with around £50m in transfer funds with little coming in so far from sales. I also like how we are looking at British based players. However it does concern me that we havent really addressed some of the key problem areas (i.e. solid and fit LB, another quality winger, back up striker etc.) and seem to have an overloaded midfield at the moment. Also when it looks like the likes of Arsenal are going to get Mata for less than Downing and we paid nearly as much for Carroll as Man City pay for Arguero I do get concerned.

The current squad is definitely better than last year's but I am still not confident that it is strong enough or has enough top rate players to break into the top four.

Would welcome the Ed's, Macca and other posters views on this. Cheers.

All these people talking about us missing out on Mata if he goes to Arsenal, a load of rubbish... if he is a target do you not think we would be bidding for him. All these people still dont get it. we do our deals behind closed doors and these rumours although brilliant are created by people outside of the club and then when we dont get them these same fans start moaning "we've missed out on another target" wake up

Newts7 {Ed002's Note - "Behind closed doors" - you are kidding right? Adam? Aquilani? Downing?}

Few points I would like to make.
1. Stop the whole caroll thing he needs service and team that played last night would have made messi look ordinary. Caroll is a liverpool player who needs our support . None of us can go back in time and buy caroll for 20m what's done is done let's support him.
2.my concern is goals conceded as even though I buy the argument. That players that played are squad players still 2 games on trought and 6 goals conceded is very poor against ordinary attacks.
Plus loosing like winning becomes habbit so we need serious work.

Plus point its preseason and we lost no league points.
Get behing manger and team people they need it but continue pointing flaws.

I dont understand some people. These are only friendlies (warm ups) til the season starts, yet alot of people are slagging off carroll. Give the lad a chance first before trying to break him, as goes for all the new players. I personally think united wouldnt cope with the physicallity of carroll home and away. Just for that game alone he could be a great asset.

The defence is a shambles, these are suposed to be LIVERPOOL players, no pride, no heart this has left the club with no dignity, no excuses should be made, thats not the Liverpool way, people are laughing at our pre-season results, my god is this how KK wants the club to be seen, last nights team should hand there wages back or give them to charity.

29 Jul 2011 09:02:03
What a waste of 35mil on caroll. Pls kk sell him and buy a striker and 2 central defenders cus we r mingin at the back.

29 Jul 2011 08:42:03
Don't get despondent about last night

Let's put this into perpective - we are the only top six club who have a stronger squad
than last season

manu - had to buy a goalie, bought a promising cb and a fancy dan winger who wouldn't pull you out of bed

man city - tevez will go aguero relaces him - he is not first choice for his national team

chelsea - may buy modric - not guaranteed

arsenal - fab will go - mata replaces him - no stonger

spurs - could lose modric - will make them weaker

So, what I am saying is we HAVE astronger squad than last season and we only played for half of it and were the second best team in the latter half - FACT

Stop moaning and think outside the box

Just reading through yesterdays posts and its terrible to see so much negativity from "fans" get a grip we are Liverpool football club Lets not ridicule kennys signings or judge us on pre season friendlies we have improved on last seasons squad YNWA

I just looked through last nights posts. Jeez - so many so called fans are so quick to turn on the management and the team - get a grip
Yes it is always disappointing to loose a game and concede 3 goals without reply but take a good hard look at the team sheet, especially first half. Take a look at the absentees, take a look at the opposition and finally, get off KK and team's back
Have a bit of faith in them for feks sake I'm sure KK, SC and the players know what is required come the start of the season.

Let's get a bit of perspective on last nights team before everyone suffers a coronary:

Doni - Sub keeper
Insua - Likely to leave
Kelly - likely to be sub defender, first game at centre-half for a long time
Kyrgiakos - Might leave, if not will be about 5th choice centre back
Flanagan - just a kid, 3rd choice right back
Robinson - Just a kid, out of position last night, likely to be 3rd choice left back, maybe 2nd.
Poulsen - Will leave or be nowhere near the first team
Cole - Might leave, if not will be mostly on the bench
Shelvey - Just a kid, will probably go out on loan once Gerrard passed fit
Degen - Will leave or be loaned out again for his last year
Carroll - Is it any wonder he struggled with that team behind him

Every body calm down, take a deep breath, and wait until the end of August before judging our friendly strategy, our start to the season, and our transfers in and out.

People are right to say that these pre season games are no indicator of what is to come.

But with that in mind can I ask what is the point in what Kenny has done in per season so far?

All we have done is show that the players we knew were crap are in fact crap. Not exactly put them in the shop window have we

As for the fact that people keep saying we are missing 8-9 first teamers. That is true, and as the expected first team hasn't played together they have had no chance to gel and get fit together. Surely that is the whole point of pre season

I know in a few cases that is down to injury problems but for me we whould be playing the nucleus of the fit first teamers along with the youngsters who are liklely to be the back up.

Players like Poulson should have been left back at Melwood and told in no uncertain terms that they don't have a future and should find another club.

Back to last night. If Woy had put a team out with Deggen playing right midfield and Robinson left, there would have been calls to have him sectioned.

I am all for getting behind the boss. But at least show consistency.

Some of the "In Kenny we trust", is starting to remind me of the "In Rafa we trust" brigade who would hear no wrong of their man. To have an emperors new clothes mentality is dangerous. You have to support your team but you can also question what they do. Just keep it all in perspective. Both extremes are dangerous

Some 'fans' on here are a joke Probably all wools. Ok its disappointing to see us gettong beat 3-0 in 2 friendlies but the players arent fit and half of the players who were on the pitch wont be playing for us next season.
Andy Carroll is clearly well away from 100% match fit, and despite all the haters ripping him to bits I think on his day the lad is unplayable give him time he has only just returnes from nearly 6 months out injured
There is still alot to be done this trabsfer window but id be happy if it went like this:

Out:
Poulsen, Jovanovic, Kyriagkos, Cole, Insua, Degen, Aquikani, Agger.
Ins:
Cahill, Dann, Enrique, Rodellega.

Replacing Agger and the Greek with Dann n Cahill would be quality although agger is a very good plyer he is never fit. Going with the Rodellega rumours I think hed be a great addition as he can play out wide due to his pace.

In all fairness. People are getting worked up over a bad performance by the majority of bad players. Rome wasnt built in a day....Carroll is going to be savage with all the first team players. Poulsen, insua, the Greek etc will not feature so dont worry. Spearing is a great option to have after Lucas in the holding role. And we have the promising coady too. Strikers we have Carroll, suarez, dirk and ngog as a last resort. hell even stevie g and Cole can help out there from time to time. Once the deadwood stops playing we will be fine. A few defenders and we have a much better balance about the squad. I think Henderson, Adam and downing have been excellent buys and I for one am looking forward to the start of the season. We have a hungry group and an even hungrier manager. I think the owners are even mad to do well this year. Thought is going into the way this unit is built and as we all know when it comes to football Jenny knows his s*it.

Morning Ed's

Not posted for a couple of months but still been reading the site. Great work really appreciate your time to keep us Reds up to date

Yes we were average at best tonight and yes we have let in too many goals during pre season.Im sure the next couple of games will start to see the majority of the first team play to build them for the first game.We need to trust in what KK is doing rather than slagging them off. We need to have some patience it aint going to be fixed overnight. We have purchased experienced EPL players that know what the prem is all about. The club has come far in the last year from where it was.

Hai guys.
Watched the game against gala...and we looked very poor..i am aware that it was all fringe players who played..but we are only left with them before the statrt of season..
I am great admirer of kk. but he should have kept Aquilani instead of buying Henderson for 20 mil..i mean with KK would have been able to convince him..he was superb yesterday..
Now on to transfer..
Heard that Spus are ready to offload Defoe..Ed what you think we would easily get him for 8 mil..i thinkinjury free..he is a quality striker..his finishing ability is superb..saw his goals last season..
now..Arda turan (Ed why are we not signing this player??..i simply cant understand...i dont think midfielders wins u the game........)

Ed need your opinion. on this {Ed002's Note - My opinion on Arda has been given repeatedly. It was certainly given more than once yesterday.}

29 Jul 2011 02:35:02
few points i would like to make:

1: give carroll time He has been playing with all reserve players and is the only first team player playing for the club at the moment

2: we have 2 get rid of cole, poulsen and jovanovic. all the other players can be back ups. we should send spearing, shelvey and pacheco on loan as they are all centre mids who won't get there game.

3: why hasn't any of the first team players played any match?? man united are winning all of their matches by loads of goals as they have their strong teams out. i have counted 8 first team players have either gotten little or no time on the pitch so far (reina, johnson, carra, skyrtel, meireles, gerrard, suarez, lucas). yes there are a few that are either injured or away on international duty but there are alot who just havn't been playing. Ferguson said last week that united wern't that good at the start of last season as many key players didn't get enough time in pre season and i'm afraid were making the same mistake this year.

4: we need 5 more players to win the league in my opinion(no point in even thinking bout CL due to Barcelona). we need a CB(Dann), LB(Enrique or any quality LB), RW(Hazard, Gotze, Mata), young winger(Alex Chamberlain) and ST(Shane Long or an experienced or young player)

Evening all,

I love Liverpool FC, when they're up I'm up and when they're down I'm down. As old fashioned as it sounds I feel I need to spell it out because some of the vile that's spouted all over this fantastic (tip my hat to the eds) site needs to stop.

Transfers - something a lot of "fans" don't seem to be able to grasp is that the value of anything is relative. If a pint of milk costs £1 then a half is worth £0.50. Since Chelsea, city and R.Madrid have been throwing the cash around transfer fees have been stupid. Is Torres worth £50 mill? Is Carroll worth 35? Downing 20? Henderson 16.5? Probably not, but that doesn't matter. Basic economics, if a customer can afford £X for item Y then that's what's charged, never mind actual value.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Simple rule of inflation mate.
The clubs have a lot of money, and with a lack of recources in the market the prices go up because of the extra capital that these companies(clubs) have, so it's not so much the value of the player that's rising, their value is effectively the same, but the value of the money being spent is falling, this is simple inflation, we see it every day on the news when the newsreader talks about 'supply and demand'. Think of players as resources such as oil, gas, gold etc.

El juego hermoso.

Hi Eds/Fellow Lfc.

Am I the only Lfc fan to think we're in the sh**s this season? We have about 10/11 players that we need to do everything in our power to get them out, I feel sick at the rumours Arsenal might be in talks with Mata and he could cost them less than £15million. I can't believe Kenny isn't looking at him at £15m is like they're giving him away for free and i know for a fact we can offer him more wage-money than Arsenal. I know i'm gonna get some stick for this but the players KK took to our last game i'm starrting to ? him :*(

What a waste of a friendly. Half of the players would be lucky to get one start this season. Why didn't we at least put some of the exciting players from last year U18's in the team. Players like Sterling, Suso, Morgan and Smith are young and would be out played. But atleast they would get some experience against a class team and give them something to aim for.

fans' type check: rate yourself

There are different categories of fans in here:

1. those with proper rumours,
2. those with wishlist,
3. those that view transfers critically and objectively,
4. those that moan and groan about everything,
5. those that look for eds' approval,
6. those that feel macca ain't superstar here,
7. those that are suffering from HALO EFFECT,
8. those that read other people's post and press agree button regardless of bulls they spout,
9. and finally, those that always shout and hound people down.
The category 9 fans are those with these following remarks:
a. get behind the team( mixed with some abusive langs)
b. go and support another team, you muppet and so on ..

NOTE: halo effect affects your sense of judgement

Alright eds. Everyone is given carrroll loads of stick of how he done tonight. Let's not forget how many player we have to come bk. He had a lot useless and inexperienced behind him. People forget how old he actually is and how much pressure it is on him to try and live up to the 35 million we paid for him. He didn't ask to be that price but that's what potential gets you. A lot of players stayed at home tonight but carroll was there for pure fitness. We have bought players for him such as downngs crosses and Adams left peg to bring him Into play. Everyone says we should get behind the team and players so how about everyone starts doing it and think we are not playing our strongest 11 and we are in pre-season Everyone was behind Roy hodgeson a year ago we he signed joe cole and poulsen so sort it out Also on a different note what does IMO mean haha

29 Jul 2011 01:21:28
Anyone who slates Carroll and the new signings without giving them a proper chance, I mean a proper chance as in 10-15 games in the Premier League, get yourself down Goodison Park next season.

had a dream last nite that insua left and emilio izaguirre signed. not sayin it will happen but keep yours ears open.
love GOD.
p.s. he also scored a header against sunderland. get down ladbrokes {Ed007's Note - Stay away from Izzy!!!}

29 Jul 2011 01:14:25
Everyone needs to stop worrying about pre season games like the last two. The team that played tonight doesn't even slightly resemble what the team playing in the league will be. And people also need to get off Andy carrolls back, giving him stick for not playing at his absolute best in a pre season game when he is not fully fit or with his usual team mates is a bit harsh. With a bit of fine tuning everything will start to come together.

After the pre-season performances;

Andy Carroll looks like a Poor WWE Wrestler not a striker

Doni looks like a mix of Ian Walker and the butter on David James's gloves

Kuyt has unfortunately lost it, but i like his curly locks

Poulsen is basically a chicken (no offence to chickens out there)

Insua needs to find a sport which doesn't require moving so it fits in with his physique

Cole - Tries so bless his cotton socks

Shelvey needs to go back to his Hospital Ward if you get me he is starting to look ill

The kids need to play with good players to give them a boost and some confidence in pre-season not these Donkey's it only makes them look s**te.

Sorry if i have missed any other players who should not wear the shirt

More signings needed if we want to get in the top 4, but that is obvious

p.s anyone found Carroll's receipt yet?

doni-back up keeper..... looks like a back up but to be fair to him he has not let in an absolute clanger as yet.
Flanaghan- youngster.....gonna be a good squad player.
Insua- will be moved on in this window hopefully.
kyriagkos- should be moved on as quickly as possible.
Kelly- will be a great centre half and I think we should stick with him in that position. Our defense would have made hansen look poor tonight
degen- been injured ever since he has been at liverpool....awful signing.
Robinson- a left back playing further forward..... did not let anyone down thoguh.
Poulsen- a footballing version of sven goran erikkson....awful signing.
Shelvley- Needs to learn to play the simple ball as well as the hollywood ball.... I think he will come good though.
Joe Cole- a shadow of the footballer at west ham all those years ago.... You can tell when a player has lost their sparkle and he has definitely lost it- awful signing
Carroll- felt for him tonight...."thanks kenny" I could hear him saying tonight..

My point is that the team tonight was a shop window for all the players we want to sell.....Our team against sunderland will look nothing like this.
All of those who played except for doni, shelvley, flanno, robinson, carroll and kelly in the first half are the ones we are trying to shift... and from that performance you can see why we are struggling to move these players on......Getting rid of our S**t (notice i said this and not deadwood) is going to be hard.....good luck kenny

i agree sell aquilani but my god some of you need to wake up. he carroll or kuyt couldn't do anything because everytime they had the ball they kept it. if spearing got it he lost it straight away. in general it was just a poor performance from a second string team. however the defence need a wake up call they have been shocking this pre season.

Ed's you should put a link to myp2p.eu at the top of the site, and just say it has all the games. It works like a charm. I have been using it for about 4 years and no virus' and never missed a regular season game because I could not get a link. Might save you alot of time when you get post after post looking for links. I suggest downloading sopcast, great picture and works like a charm.

I don't take much notice of friendlies Roy mate, especially the way Kenny has set out teams, so far. I'm not totally sold on Carroll yet, but will give him time to get it right. Torres is having a worse pre-season than anyone, but he'll probably get 20-30 goals this season. I think we'll get a better picture of what's to come, when we play Valaranga and Valencia. Hopefully Kenny will play the best players, that are available to him, for at least 60-70 mins.

The defense for me is simple mate, no organization. When Pepe and Jamie are not there, we are all over the place. Once we get these 2 playing along with Agger, then we'll be better at the back, much better.

We still need a Left footed LB, CB, LW and Striker or we won't do much this season. It sounds a bit greedy considering what we've spent, but we defo need these players. Sell 4-5 players, loan out a couple more and replace them with these players. Along with the players we have, we could be challenging this season.

If you took time to actually follow liverpool you would know this as there were many reports to the eventuality .

Never ever thought i'd think it never mind post it but i'm becoming ashamed of some of our so called fans are fair f***in weather fans, and i use the word fan in the loosest term possible. All some have done is moan about players being sold or negotiating with other clubs. Its a f***in disgrace the way some people are carrying on. Why the f*** would K.K travel half way round the world and back then take em on another 3000 miles to Istanbul and back. Ye terrible f***in result. But end of the world ye according to some people. I guarentee you the same people who tried and tried to break Lucas's spirit and you all know who you are, you come on here saying it wasn't me, always knew he was class, it was Rafa's fault, will be the same ones doing it now to Big Andy then retracting their bulls**t next season. Only a handful have said ye, i did say Lucas was s**t, happy to say i was proved wrong and big respect0to those who have said it. And it was more then a f***in handful who used to give him pure s**te every game. Will be the same next year, i knew if he got the right service he'd bag a s**t loads and all that crap will surface again over the Big Fella. You all know who you are. Support means support not f***in criticise every single thing whats going on, from missing out on so called never been a realistic f***in target Cazorla going to Malaga to Mata going to Arsenal if indeed he does go. If he's so f***in great and Arsenal are paying 15 mil or what ever, Spam need a playmaker, de've got coin to spend on one, dont see them, Chelsea or City going for him but for some reason and f*** knows what, he's become an obsession. Very good player but and would welcome him with open arms but until that day comes ..... Lets support the team, the management and Liverpool FC, isn't thats were here to do for f***s sake. aquilani is playing well in pre season, so what, he's doing a fernando 'showing off in the january shop window for chelsea to see' torres, because apart from january torres was poor and then all of sudden change of attitude, and playing well, said he wanted to be at lfc and then poof like magic, gone, same with aqua, he DOES NOT WANT TO BE AT LIVERPOOL, how many thicko's are there that can't see this, the second the right deal comes up he's gone, straight out of dodge he's a NONCE, a lightweight, can't handle the prem, i don't even wish i was wrong because i don't like the little girl, get him gone,
