I see lucas says that he wants to stay at Liverpool for many years in a twitter sessiom, which is good news and a future captain, a player we have missed this season and with him fit i think we would of been closer to top four.

Lets hope Suarez signs a new contract as well and a few additions in the summer as well as some of the younger players coming through i really think we have a great future to look forward to and nobody better than king kenny to manage them.

Mighty reds

Let's hope Reina gets back to his old self

Lucas has improved massively. Why can't people look at him and say "surely the players we have now can improve as Lucas was way worse than any of them in his first season". Come on, give the guys a chance!

Lucas should be captain as soon as Gerrard steps down in my opinion.

BthekingB

Lucas moved from the other side of the world he was young then getting played as holding midfielder out of his comfort! a harsher league as the premiere so brutal at time's! he adapted! we only bought player that do'snt come from the UK or played in the premiere league before he signed! he adapted straight away! look at the other premiere league based player's we bought! they already have premiere league experience! have they adapted?

I can remember a couple of years ago when everybody was ready to get rid of Lucas for 8m. I can also remember when Gareth Bale was considered a disappointment at Spurs. Young players sometimes need a little time.

Through the Storm

There is a difference between lucas and other players..lucas came relatively cheap.1.5 mill...can take a hell lot of time..and was unproven..hendo, adam, and caroll cost us the entire budget of past 3 seasons of liverpool...

Its a close call between Lucas and Agger for me to be next captain. I know Pepe takes the reins but I'm not a fan of a keeper being captain. Lucas probably shades it with Agger vice captain.

Gazza

Lucas is good but not of captain quality, I'd rather pepe or agger

Ya if standing with your hands on your hips looking for someone else to blame when You make a mistake makes you captain material alls well!
He's been poor his season

Lyndon

Think lucas cost us 6million if i remember ryt.

hi eds.why is everyone moaning about being in the europa league.after watching schalke and bilboa.i thought it a better game than last nights barca game.we have won 1 cup and and a chance of another and in europa for next season.give kk a chance.
jimmybosun.

Jimmybosun! Stevie G wrote in his autobiography that he hated being in the UEFA cup in 2001 and if we did'nt get CL football then he'd consider going to a club that would! you ask any club footballer what they aspire to and there answer will be winning the CL! as Shank's once said first is first second is no where! and why most people are moaning is the money been spent and their main goal was CL football! and judging on our league campaign this season we've been hoodwinked! plus CL football bring's a greater financial reward and top player's! so people are moaning as we're going to have to wait till at least the end of next season! the Champion's League is the holy grail to footballer's!

I think it has to do with about 30m pounds in TV money.

Through the Storm

It was a great game.
Very impressed with the stadium (61K capacity, with a roof, and the pitch can be moved (motorised).
Just makes me a bit sad we don't have such a stadium.. Yet!

Eds I think Jackson Martinez is exactly what we need.
He has strength, pace, good ball control and great finishing ability.
Much like a south american Torres.

What do you think about him?
And are we still interested? {Ed002's Note - Please use the search function about Martinez.}

29 Mar 2012 22:17:43
Hi ed, regarding the 5 transfers Macca said we will try and sign, do you think theres a reasonable chance it maybe the players below? :

matt phillips
luuk de jong
mauricio isla
moussa sissoko
bojan

They are all reasonable targets. I would be quite happy with these signings to help us push for 4th spot next season. I reckon they all would cost less than £60m combined. {Ed001's Note - no idea sorry.}

29 Mar 2012 22:15:03
A.Johnson
E.Dzeko
Soldado
De Jong
M.Gomez
Asunciao
Leading targets, will be any 3 of these, but basically a Centre Back, Right Winger and a Striker for Liverpool this summer with some fringe players, plus Dalglish will not move on and will get at least 1 more season.

It will be 3 decent name players and a couple younger future players for me. I really hope we go all out to get Soldado as our striker. He is class.

Gazza

If you mean llorente then you obviously have no football knowledge

Didn't watch Bilboa game means as We bought all their Players the day after they Beat Manu.
Ah! Forgot we changed our mind after they got beat 3 days later for the 10th time in la liga
Then we bought Newcastles front line on Sunday then Jelavic from everton on Tuesday

It's hard to keep up!!

hey eds please post and answer

out of are youngsters who do you think should get given a chance to get more playing time? your personal opinion and who you think will?

the likes of sterling, shelvey, suso, coady, morgan and silva spring to mind?

thanks and keep up the good work {Ed001's Note - Wisdom, Mclaughlin, Robinson all spring to mind immediately, other than the ones you've mentioned. But for me, the one that stands out the most is Adorjan, when he plays well, the ressies play well.}

I agree with ed on this it's a name I never really see on here but he always impresses me whenever I see him play which is admittedly not a lot but even so I'd give him a cameo appearance soon

I've always been a big fan of Wisdom, but against ajax the other week he got exposed time and time again. I think he will be a brilliant player one day, but i think next season would be a step too early for him.

Robbie Fowler or Luis Suarez?

http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m08g8gbBcT1r4h9hjo1_r1_400.jpg

-Shane

Incomparable. Entirely different types of player. RED LENIN

Can b only one winner here ..... has to be Fowler (God)! If Fowler was playing in his pomp now we would have won at least seven more games this season! Finishing is the only thing that matters for a top striker.

I'd really rate Luis as a playmaker!

29 Mar 2012 21:48:53
You lot don't get it do you, Tello is not going to leave Barca and sign for Liverpool, why would he? Hes getting games for arguably the best team to grace this earth, ber the 50's Brazil team and you think U'll trigger a release clause, I don't think so. {Ed001's Note - the rumours started because he has not yet signed a new contract with them, that's all it is.}

You mean Uruguay of the late 20s and thirties . Yes that is the same country that beat brazil at home in the 1950 WC final
Thanks

Nope I still mean Brazil 50's team thanks big dipper. Just because a team loses doesn't mean the other team is better does it?

29 Mar 2012 21:34:09
If LLorente was interested, we should do all we can to sign him... he is absolutley sensational and so consistent!

We tried to get him before carrol, along with gomez of bayern. but athletic wouldnt play ball. now he's in better form then he was back then, cant see them changing their mind. also if they turned down 30mil for him then, they would want plenty more now. imagine if we ended up with either alyer tho, wow.

id be happy with a young non big reputation striker coming in, no one springs to mind tho.

Does anyone know what that clown Patrick barclay's problem with lfc is? He had another pop at us and Kenny in his little column today

Unless we have ended up under Sharia Law while I was having dinner, the man is entitled to his views and comments. Not sure, but I think it's called living in a democracy, which is what helps people like UNITE and the RMT play their little games!

Dont let urself be disturbed by fools.....

Let him sing the praises of Dundee United and bore people......Old age has indeed affected him

LiverBird

He prob watched us win everything under the sun while growing up supporting utd

gee man

Liver Bird/Gee Man - u sound as bitter as u claim Barclay is! Read my words - unless we are now an Islamic Republic he is entitled to say what he likes. Then again - you're maybe one of those 'superfans' who bully anyone who says anything about LFC. You shave your heads?

Patrick Barclay - more than 10 years or so ago when he wrote for the Independent, penned an article in which he said that Liverpool would win the Premier League again one day in the future and not to be surprised of the manager was Dalglish. RED LENIN

Does anyone else think that the players who are under performing and coming under some scrutiny have a genuine lack of ability ? I'm thinking it's purely a mental thing, these players have talent and I personally think with a bit more confidence will start to show it. Maybe the pressure is too much. What do the coaches do though to help this situation ?

I hope they can improve, and that they are not at the very edge of their capabilities.

I think you are right. The likes of Henderson look positively wide-eyed and overawed. They need psychological coaching, not just physical.

Evening eds and fellow reds, just a quick question on the kids . do you know if suso is close to first team yet and adam morgan ,are they at melwood yet .cheers psv {Ed001's Note - Suso's problem is that he has struggled to settle into a position, his form has been patchy because he has been moved around as part of his footballing education. I think he has the difficulty of having Gerrard and Shelvey ahead of him, but he is getting a chance on the right now, if he can impress I would expect him to get a couple of run outs. Morgan is still not ready, I don't think he will get his shot this season, though you never know, injuries could change that.}

Im on this site everyday and im afraid the majority of the people coming on here and getting ripped in to kenny dalglish and the players that are wearing that liverbird on there chest is making me well pist off, Im afraid you'se dont understand the meaning of the words you'll never walk alone, We fall together we rise together not divided but as one, I have never posted anything negative towards my club and i never will im now 37 years old and if it takes me untill im 70 god willing to see liverpool win the league then so be it.I dont support this club for a season i support them for life Y.N.W.A

gee man

Look I agree its not nice listening to moan moan moan! However people are entitled to an opinion! We dnt all hav to follow like blind sheep! If you mk sensible comments and not just spouting rubbish then surely as a fan your entitled to have worries? We are fans not lemmings

You are dilusional sure we might aswell fall to the championship but it is alright as long we stick togather

i dont actually think we will but just to prove a point

Its the blind sheep that have noticed the liverpool footballing philosophy slowly coming back into our game this season at times we have been excellent i agree with kenny the performances dont justify our points. Its the lemmings posting the negative crap we need to worrie about not the club.

gee man

Fans shouldn't be constantly barking orders at the owners, managers and players. They should be supporting the players not saying "glad he is injured" or "i hope we lose tomorrow cos kenny might get sacked" or "owners are worse than hicks and gillette".

Eds,the ''Pool''are very poor of late,no consistency,enough money spent,CL's a must,whats the solution ??B

Hey Eds,

Have you got any info on villyan bijev and how is he doing in Germany? And just how good do you think Toni silva is ?

Thanks

Thatracoonstolemybacon

{Ed001's Note - last I heard, he was struggling to get into a second division side in Germany, Bijev I mean. But he is just a kid, far too soon to expect much, this is just a chance to gain experience really. As for Silva, great ability, needs to up his workrate a bit, but he has the quality to play at a higher level than he is.}

This website keeps track of Bijev. He has so far only appeared for Dusseldorf's second team, who compete in the German 4th division. Has scored 3 in 11.

I cant wait to see Toni Silva in the 1st team! he is a very good player and at his age the capabilities to become a superstar for us! hope he come's back after his loan spell raring to go!

Re-arranged Blackburn match for the evening of the 10th April.
This has to be an 'early qualifying round of the Europa League' side out ?
And do we save Sterling for the subs bench for Wembley ?
Questions, questions...

hi eds do you think that the sterling will be on the bench at newcastle or was he just in the squad because we were playing wigan. im sure he will get some appearences till the end of the season against the lower teams but wht about the likes of newcastle
cheers ed {Ed001's Note - the league season ended when we lost to QPR, I expect kids to get their opportunities in the final league games, Sterling certainly being foremost of them.}

Do you think Liverpool would ever go for a concept of online football management. Fans could pay to manage the team. Liverpool fans seem to be very cyber in nature and spread out across the world.

Could you buy a share in Liverpool management. You'll get to vote on shirt designs, issues in the club, transfers for players & formations. We have alot of fans who think they could do a better job than Kenny. Why not let them own and manage the club.

Hoping this is sarcasm because that would be the worst idea ever

There is only one man to send for when a relegation dogfight looms and that is Roy Hodgson .

No need to panic , though , we probably have enough points this season but next season is going to be a nightmare .

It would be tough to get him to take a step down from West Brom

29 Mar 2012 19:21:24
Is there anyone on this site who thinks that spending £130 million , plus wages , to produce relegation form ,
is a success ?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but our current relegation form is a fact , not an opinion , If you don't agree then you can't count .

I don't agree, you don't get relagated on current form, it's your form throughout the season that dictates wheather you are relagated or not.

MR EM

Where did we get 130million?

Carroll 35m , Suarez 23m , Henderson 18m , Adam(s) 8m , Downing 20m , Coates 8m , Enrique 8m Total 130m

As I work in banking I know I can't be trusted with numbers, but i could swear that the numbers above don't add up to 130 so what is the point that is trying to be made (badly!)...?

Also, like it or not, when considering a net position, you do need to factor income as well as expense and on that basis you should detract the income gained from selling Torres etc etc because I am sure they were an asset when they were at LFC?

It's not rocket science fellas!! ;-)

ConnorsLFC

120m mate. your maths is wrong. also have you taken into account: player sales, the 30m shaved off our wage bill, oh and 50m sale of torres?

thought not...

Re-couped from sales= torres 50m, babel 7m, meireles 11m. this is 68m alone without even counting the other 12 or so players that left in the summer makes your argument absolute carp!!

That is £120Million .

Qwerty

There is no Adams. And much of it was covered by sales, and the wage bill has been reduced.

The total spend vs. net spend debate will rumble on. It's partly a sideshow.

The bottom line is we will probably finish lower in the league than last season. That is the fundamental problem.

I'd just like to point out to you all - none of this has ME or US a penny and WE have made no profit either.

Liverpool Football Club's official Twitter feed @LFC has been voted the world's best by a sports team at the Shorty Awards in the USA.

At a gala event in New York which also honoured NASA for best use of twitter in the Government category and Justin Bieber in the Celebrity category, @LFC received most votes in the sports team listings to claim the prestigious award.

Because no decent teams have twitter accounts

Ya that would be right!!!

what does anyone think about a move for dembele in summer, i think he would do very well for us

eds ? {Ed001's Note - I like him as a player, but, I don't know why, I just don't see him as a Liverpool player.}

Just another midfield player albeit a good skilful one, that won't get his quota of goals from midfield. Anyone we sign including midfielders must have an eye for goal.

Well he was converted from a striker to a midfielder

the people on the site need to calm down a bit.
the 'kenny out' brigade has to realize that things are not as bad as they are making it to be. we have a small squad and in the course of a season players do loose form. we actually have made big improvements over the last year - we now have a solid defense, we are playing enjoyable football, we have won a cup and hopefully another, we have a good spine and just need to add a few players, the youth looks promising (henderson, coates, shelvey, kelly, flanagan, robinson are all still under 23 add to this the players in the academy).
and the 'true fans' who blindly defend poor performance and bash any one who speaks truth should realize that fans have the right to criticize bad performances. someone doesn't become a manc by calling carrol useless.
all i have to say is football is just a game. it is meant to be enjoyed so lets leave all the worrying to the owners/management and concentrate on bringing back the anfield atmosphere.
hoping for a good end to the season.

oldmonk

Very well put, anfield has become too quiet over the past month or so

I don't think they where bad. You can't ask for 100% out of 80% players. They mentally don't have it in them.

The reason we have a small squad is because when we had the chance to enlarge it in Jan Kenny said he was more than happy with the squad he had ! Even though it would appear its small ! So no excuse then !!!!!!!!

Baz

We should get free flags like chelsea

Its crazy how much you all sound like Wenger, 'its coming', 'next season'. You need to accept that your not gonna get top 4 for a very long time

SHED END

Shed End - What about your team of OAP's? You're not getting Champions League next season either sunshine.

Evening ED and fellow Reds. Been reading alot about kenny wasting money on players , but what they have to remember is that bar downing and adam they are still kids . lets give them this season to settle and judge them after next year . alot of fans calling for kenny,s head are silly rome was not built in a day , remember fergie back in 93 semi final fa cup manc fans chanting fergie out ...
look what he done since . i think kenny will come good next year with top 4 finish, if he fails to do so then ask the question .we are only a couple of players away and we can still win fa cup heads held high guys lets see this time next year, and if its turned around you so called supporters should drop your heads in shame cheers psv.

I'm confused as to why so many people are making out that we are a sinking ship, doomed to the championship next season to forever dwell in the shadow of our former success as a club.

This season has been frustrating I would agree, to a point where LFC fans are entitled to be annoyed. But take into account the amount of setbacks we have suffered this season an how much difference a few goals here and there would have made.

If I recall correctly the only 3 games we have lost by more than 1 goal were against Spurs, City and Bolton. The woodwork has been hit a ridiculous amount of times. We have had a lot of saved/missed penalties. We have endured 9 games in a row without our best striker, we have endured 3/4 of the season without Lucas and 1/2 the season without Gerrard.

I'm sure a lot of you will argue most of these points are the players/managers just not being good enough for various reasons but take a second to think how different our season would be if even HALF of these setbacks had gone our way.

Get a striker, get a winger, sell the players that don't WANT to help us get where we deserve to be and let's see how we do next season. Let's face it, if we ain't in the champions league next season there is NO excuse. This season we haven't had enough time to adjust and although I don't believe in such a thing... We have been very unlucky!

We are a family club, not a business club. Get behind the manager, get behind the players, and be patient my cherished Liverpool fans!

Well said KK now pick a team to beat Newcastle !!!!

I really think Kenny did write that post!

For soccer fan in N.America its hard to fulfill their dream to go watch your favorite club play. I always dreamed of watching Liverpool in action but never got a chance. I always wanted to feel the energy on stadium but that dream never came true.

Last night I happened to go on LFC official site and saw that LFC officially announced that they are playing in Boston, Chicago and New York. For a moment I thought I was dreaming. Couldn't sleep for hours after that.

Thank you FSG finally my childhood dream coming true.. Think I will go to all three games.

Good on you mate. I've never been able to get to Anfield for a game, as i'm poor as hell and live hundreds of miles away and don't drive, but any time Liverpool play north of the border, I make sure I get a ticket, even if it's in the opposing team's end, because there's nothing quite like seeing your team play in the flesh. Hope you enjoy the summer tour fella!

Eds and Macca,
Do you think Gerrard will be in the starting 11 next season? He's not getting younger and is often injured.
Possibly sign an attacking midfielder to play alongside Lucas?
If we sign Matias Suarez, do you think he'd instantly be in the first team? Or will Carroll be chosen ahead of him?
Thanks.
SUSO {Ed001's Note - impossible to say, it will depend on form, fitness and the summer signings.}

In a word YES, he is still our best player and has been for 10 years or more

I think next season will be gerrard's last as a regular starter in the team.

I think among the 5 signings which macca mentioned ,
1. Back up GK
2. RB-Isla or Clyne
3. RW- Phillips
4. CAM- Ramirez
5. ST- De Jong or Soldado

I would be very happy with this. But I personally would prefer Soldado to DeJong if there is a genuine chance to sign him. If we can match his fee valuation and he is willing to come to us we should go all out for him. Doesn't matter if he is asking high wages. Success comes at a price. Anyway he won't demand ridiculous money. And question to Ed001, Do u think the info Maaca is reliable since u guys are hinting no more than 2 or 3 signings. But these 5 signings do make sense as one is only a back up GK and the rest of them are replacing the people who will most likely be out like Johnson, Kuyt and Maxi except the ST position which we are already short of. And also are the reports of Clyne true and even it look like a popular rumor among us with many agreeing on it. I never heard about him in this site. So could u please confirm if u have any info on that. Much Thanks

AJ {Ed001's Note - it is far too early to know, but I would expect any players that leave to be replaced, plus one or two other arrivals. So it could very well be 5 players.}

At the start of the season when there was talk of us signing Henderson, Adam and Downing 95% of Liverpool fans said they were not good enough to play for Liverpool, good but not good enough. They signed and we all thought its Kenny and Comolli who has a good track record so we were all hoping to be proved wrong, unfortunately we haven't. I could see there thinking by british build up a good strong base for this season and with a few real quality signings next year who knows. I think they thought to much on the british side of things and not enough on the quality side things and with the money that was spent it should have been all about the quality. Kenny and Comolli really should have knew better, Liverpool fans are pretty knowledgeable so if they say its wrong it probably is. With all that said the last to results, q.p.r 2 up with 13 minutes to go and the home defeat to wigan that says more about their courage and the belief they have in themselves is pretty poor and that worries me more than their lack of quality. How are they supposed to improve if even they don't believe they're good enough to play for liverpool.

It is so sad to see how many LFC supporters are expecting to lose heavily at the weekend , including myself . Perhaps we are just being realistic .

Mind you , I also respect the RFD ' s ( Relegation Form Denialists ) who show great spirit in supporting their club , good luck to them as well .

I'm afraid I have had enough , I gave my season ticket to my neighbour at the weekend , he is a Tranmere fan so won't be able to get to all the remaining games , but he has been good to me over the years .

I can't believe how far standards have dropped at Anfield , paying millions for players who wouldn't get in our reserve side 25 years ago , players arriving with great potential then having it coached out of them by the current staff .

I haven't given up on football entirely though , I saw a great game in Sefton Park on Sunday , players could actually pass the ball to each other and control a ball without falling over , it almost made up for what I had witnessed at Anfield on the previous day .

Good luck and farewell , our great club is in for one hell of a relegation dogfight next season , the current crop of players are easily the worst I have seen at Anfield since I first went as a six year old on Boxing Day 1966 ( H Chelsea 2-1 ) .

Firstly I have trouble believing this was written by a genuine LFC fan. But if so, by your own standard of support, shouldn't Newcastle, Leeds & all other once proud top tier teams have NO fans whatsoever as each have been relegated.

You say 'since 1966' ...but LFC have have since finished 8th yet it's taken you 'til now to throw the towel in? I won't get to carried away here, as I said, your post truly can't be real. But I will add, regardless of form, playing staff & management as long as I believe they are trying, then I will never abandone this football club...ever!

Yours (if real) is the most dissapointing post I've ever read in 2 years on this site & I'm sure rival fans would agree. Shame on you!

dd

I would have paid you for your remaining tickets for the season
I have faith through thick and thin and can't get to enough games
I am almost 25! my Dad applied for my season ticket when I was 4! I am still waiting
We support out team win lose or draw!!

Absolute b****cks, of course. I don't know any reds fans who are expecting to lose, let alone heavily.
Sometimes the blues fans disguise themselves a little more subtly than others when they post rubbish here, but you can still spot them easily enough.

I'd say nice try mate, but it wasn't very convincing.

This guy should be on suicide watch, hope somebody's keeping an eye on him. Cheer up we'll hammer Newcastle on Sunday.

He does have a point ,liverpool have been poor all season i cant see were our next win is coming from,i will not be watching any more games with the likes of henderson, carr, kuyt, adam, downing playing, our season died out ages ago .
i will be watching our reserve team at least they play a good game of football

First post in a while here. I'd just like to talk about the manager situation at the club. Its clear to see Dalglish has done an excellent job, but him and Comolli have wasted a lot of money. Nobody can dispute that.
Enrique

How is it clear to see? Its just staggering looking in from the outside that people like you think Dalglish is doing a good job. He just isnt. How much time do you give, how far do you slip before you say enough is enough. Could another manager get more out of your current players or is this their peak?

SHED END

Sorry, is this commentary coming from a Chelsea fan?

You may be happy chopping and changing every few years, ( or months,) and your petrodollars allow you pay the compo you need to do this, but personally I'd rather have continuity.
Kenny needs and deserves more time. We don't have the luxury of a sugar daddy to spend big and give us instant results and most reasonable fans on here accept that. Yes we are miles behind the top 4 at the moment but it could never be a quick fix given where we were as a club 18 months ago.
I was at Stamford bridge earlier in the season (had some fix given to me for the Swansea game which you won 4-1) Embarrassingly 2000 away fans were all you hear, so I'd worry about your own plastic fans (who I'm sure wouldn't even bother turning up if you roubles dried up) before you come on here questioning us

If our peak beats you in the league and knocks you out of a cup then that will do me all day long

I spent a lot of time lastnight thinking about the situation our beloved club is in at the moment. I started thinking about the players confidence and how much preasure they must be under.
I tried to imagine what they must be feeling like, but really I never had a clue. These players have moved to a massive club with massive history with high expectations.
Most of us have been under preasure at work before havn't we? Well imagine that with 20 million people watching you. Yes the players are pro's, and yes they need to handle the presure. But Hendo and Caroll are young and probably not long left home. I can appreciate that the players were bought to "hit the ground running" and unfortunately it hasn't happened. Lets think about this for a moment. The players move away from home, from the one club they have supported and played for, to a massive club with a worldwide fan base. They lack confidence and the likes of sky and talksh*te are not helping the situation (the AC binge drinking rings a bell) then our own fans repeatedly put the players down and that shows at our home games.

Im not making excuses for the players, just trying to look at it from a different view. Unless we start showing our support for the players they will probably never play to the full potential. Players that are constantly slaged off on this site were bought because the club believed they were the future of LFC. Anybody who understands will realise that you can't build a premier league winning team in one season.(look at city). There needs to be a good solid backbone in the sqaud which despite what people think, we actually do have.

People seem to forget about the homegrown rule. English players are over priced and the best English players will be expensive. These players wanted to come to us, unlike young players like Jones at United. We have all the English players we need now so can now go out and look for foreign gems.

The football has been good at times this season and all you lot calling for Kenny's head need to get behind the boys and show them why our fans were once renowned for being the best in the world.

AC needs more time because the lads feeling the preasure. We should be singing his song even if he's on the bench, if we showed him love, maybe he would score more goals.
Henderson is tipped as one for the future. He is England under 21 captain and will be a regular in the England set up in the future and a maybe a future captain of Liverpool.
Downing hasn't reached top form yet but can be a quality player if he regains the form he showed at AV. All these players will come good if us fans believe, which will give the players lacking confidence belief.

Stevie g thinks these players will come good and so do I. Remember Stevie when woy was incharge? The players seem to be happy and maybe we've been slightly unlucky this season. With a few quality first team signings next season will be entertaining and positive.

If you lot think that the players don't browse these sites your mistaken. Lets turn all these negatives into positives and get behind the team. Lets show our players what its like to play for the best club in the world. Lets clap and sing when the players put in 110%, and lets clap slow to let the players know they need to step it up. Lets show love insted of hate and maybe things will fall into place.

Or we can just carry on putting presure on the players untill they give up.

The choice is yours..

Tizer red.

the fans needs to support the club a lot more than they do.
the fans have been horrid this season no wonder the players are so nervous.

Newcastle have 2 goal scorers (Ba, Cisse) we hav'nt got any and they're at home, does'nt bode well for us. Home win, i cant enjoy my weekends anymore, very sad.

You'd say the same if Carroll was playing for them, cry baby, and you be saying why don't we sign him. If you want to be a blind happy person go support Man united, if you want to support Liverpool, grow a pair of balls and get a football brain transplant.

I can envisage Kuyt, Maxi, Aurelio, Cole and Aquiliani will be sold in the summer and the 5 key replacements are:

Lavezzi (linked numerous times over past 3 years, would link perfectly with Suarez IMO and can fill any of the front 4 attacking postions, with Bellars dodgy knees this guy could make the difference in attack)

Luuk De Jong (linked heavily in the past year - we need 4 top strikers Luuk together with Carroll, Suarez and Levazzi would make a great quartet plus Luuk can play right wing if required).

Dries Mertens (at probably £10m there is no-one comparable in terms of his all round ability, particularly dribbling at pace, ball control and shot/cross accuracy - this makes the risk of failure relatively low - he is currently the better option to Marin and Ramierz as he consistently has an end product).

Moussa Sissoko (One of DC's favourite players, he would add physical presence, pace and athleticism to our midfield - the attributes which we have severley lack in many games this season especially those where Lucas has been out - Sissoko is a very good option and lets face it we have no chance of M'Villa or Martinez).

Pablo Armero (LFC representatives apparently recently met with his agent, he would provide competition for Enrique and offers an even more direct attacking threat from left back).

No doubt these players will be in high demand this summer, however perhaps not to the "bigger" Champions League clubs, which is why I think we have as good a chance as anyone if they were to be made available.

Red Owl

Ad prefer ramirez to mertins

I like Ramirez but his has 5 goals and 5 assists this season, and last season although his first in Europe was not prolfic albeit he was only 20yrs old. Mertens is a bit older (24) has more experiece and I think would come in and start scoring and providing assisits straight away as his record offer the past three seasons is as follows:

2011/2012
Games:45 Goals:23 Assists:22

2010/2011
Games:52 Goals:14 Assists:26

2009/2010
Games:34 Goals:7 Assists:10

Yes its only the Erdivise but Mertens gets these figures from the left wing position not as a striker. Any winger that can contribute to this amount of goals whether they be from Erdvisie, Ligue 1 or Serie A is a player.

Serie A is far far more competitive and low-scoring than the Eredivisie

Red Ollie

He seems to get better year after year but he is a left sided player, ramirez can play anywhere but a suppose either 1 in a red shirt for the new season would be nice

What is the point of two northern teams going all the way to London to play, Firstly Wembley should have been put in the middle of the country and secondly the game should be played in Cardiff. But that wont happen because the fa need us to pay for their stupid stadium!

Us spurs fans feel the same! How we miss the cameradery & banter travelling up some motorway for a semi final at some neutral ground, this will be our 6th or 7th trip to new wembley! The f.a are squeezing the life out of the peoples game! I know a couple of players & although they love playing at wembley they feel that by having the semi finals @ wembley it takes away the euphoria of.reaching a cup final, weird as it sounds they actually prefer the league cup final! More fans and no semi finals @ wembley

It takes just as long to get to cardiff as it does to get to london

Wembley has been in north london before you were here you muppet and will be here long after your gone it is the the home of football. If you can't afford the tickets watch it on the TV. Put it in the middle the biggest pile of s**t ever written.

You can't say "Wembley should be in the middle of the country" because it's an area of London. But there is a strong argument that the national stadium should be more central. I see nothing wrong with having the national stadium in the capital city myself, but it is ridiculus that Liverpool and Everton fans must go down to Wembely when Old Trafford is so close...getting to London basically doubles the price of the ticket, and the ticket is hard enough to afford on its own

Firstly, i think at the end of the season we should consider getn David Moyes as manager, replace/swap Carroll for Saha, and mayby get what we can for Renia, 15 mill mayby and recruit Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi , great keeper! And i hope we keep the score down against Newcastle to at least 3 goals, i put 20 on the magpies winning by 3!

"The Irritation of King Kenny"

You think you know the game and then bang! Some bright spark always comes along and points out that the only way to ensure success is to buy it. Was it ever the only way?

Since the dawn of Roman Abramovich's arrival at Stamford Bridge with bags of the Russian people's money, football has never been the same. Yeh, there was always investment, but not on the orgiastic scale that he ushered in. Just when we thought it was safe to dip into the transfer market, along comes a Middle Eastern potentate with more money than you could shake a stick at in a very, very large desert. In the "Greed is Good" league this is not a recipe for success. It is though a recipe for high fan expectation, mindless delirium, media overkill and the death of traditional planning.

The current hysteria in postings is around a figure of £55 million for Eden Hazard (great 60s pop star name like Billy Fury or the great Eden Kane!) and Javi Martinez. It's too late to hark back to the days of finding players, nurturing and god forbid - coaching them! Nah - simpler to just get the chequebook out and play a more realistic game of Championship Manager or one of those TubeFace or YouBook games.

Mangers like Mancini bleat about needing another three or four players to win the league (and so are we) and looking for another £60 million to complete the jigsaw. Now it got me thinking; if football management is no longer about coaching and extolling the virtues of the two passes and peeling off for a return, but more about balancing your transfer budget, why can't I do the job?

Scoff ye not as Frankie Howerd may have said if asked in this debate. If we believe it is all about identifying targets and then buying them, what does it say about the manager's ability? Not that it is as simple as I make it sound. The hard bit is in integrating a player and getting him to play in your style, with your methods and with enthusiasm. Yet there is still a whiff of the 'smoke and mirrors' these days when talking about managerial prowess.

Since none of us were probably party to the managerial workings of Clough, Shankly, Hiddink or Scolari, we can't say if my premise rings true. I suspect Shankly never did any coaching and simply and brilliantly for the times 'managed' the operation. Clough did coach in ever decreasing time and Hiddink I also suspect did a lot of his own coaching. But then again, this is not like junior football: people like Guardiola and Mourinho, Klopp, Duth, Le Guen and Dalglish possibly just 'pop in and out' of a session for specific parts of the coaching. Nothing wrong with that.

"Wouldn't it be good" (an opener from Nik Kershaw there, for the over 25s) and it would .... to see Mancini forgo his £60 million and three player desire and find three players in his reserves or youth set-up he could give a chance to. Okay, slightly fanciful, but think about our own Academy. Desperate to clinch runners-up spot in the Premier League this season, with five games to go and just two points ahead of Aston Villa. KK decides we need 'fresh blood' and since Christmas was talking about £40 million to clinch that place. How more thrilling and satisfying to ignore those calls and pluck Suso or Morgan, Amoo or Sterling and use them in the mix. I know, I know, "too frail, too small, too weak and too anything you want to add in" for that. But is football not about dreams of many kinds?

At this stage as I begin to sum up, it's time to slide in the rider about SP not having any answers, not wanting to provide answers, not doing anything but offering another angle on an obtuse point. This is not intended to go anywhere and ignore it as your choice. Just don't bleat about ignoring it.

So onwards ......
..... it'll never happen. The rosy days have gone and maybe football was always like this? Maybe managers really do coach and we just don't know it? Or maybe it is all smoke and mirrors and anyone adept at FIFA96 or whatever it is could do most of the job in real life just as well.

The real trick, the skill, the knack, the key to success is the way managers talk to players. It's the confidence they have in the manager that makes players perform. When SP tells Luis Suarez to get into the box and crash one in, he looks at me and accepts my orders, but maybe with little conviction. When KK says it he looks at a man that's been there, done that. Who wouldn't be inspired and have a great deal of respect for the words? There is the secret then.

Money will eventually crack the Premier league apart. It will not be the same league we now have when two of the larger clubs financially collapse. It will happen. It will more than likely happen when SKY suffers a business blip. It may not be the complete collapse many predict, but there is not always going to be an endless supply of cash in the game. When that happens and the horns are drawn in, it may well signal a return to a more balanaced approach to talent - something we at LFC always seemed adept at.

Until then we forge on with FSG being asked for more money to 'rebuild and strengthen next season' as MCFC consider a £298 million bid for Messi and anyone whose single name ends in a vowel and believe the fans simply want a team to win regardless of how much it takes. Monopoly football; a bit like playing poker with your week's spending money of £100 all in, finding you have three 7s and Abramovich and Sheikh Mansour saying "and raise you £600,000,000,000,000,000!" Pointless! As Andy Latimer of Camel once said - "Tell me no lies has peace arrived, or is this some kind of joke?"

Steve Parker

Going to post it this time ed? I've put it 3 times, are you protecting his feelings? Aww thats cute!

Can't profess to understand some of it but it is so far away from the usual muck on here and so arresting I can't wait to read the next one!! Fascinating and complex. Not for ordinary and miles above anything I could dream of writing.
Jason

LiverpoolMad1976 Did you read paragraph 8 of SP's piece? he says something about not bleating about what he's written. So if that's what you're doing then you're obviously either a flamer and troll or a troublemaker.

This post completely ignores the work going into our youth system right now...the focus is strongly on signing young talent and nurturing it. Top clubs like Barcelona are proof that throwing money around is no substitute for a first-rate academy

Red Ollie I think you ain't red what Steve Parker was saying. It reads to me that just spending money is a replacement for coaching. I don't think your point is valid here. SP does say youth can be used. Think you've got the wrong end of the stick. Top class stuff.

Well I haven't been on here for the last two weeks, due to work committments but hopefully by now the dust has settled on our last two results, granted very poor and certainly not acceptable for LFC by any standard. Two results which I fear have now cost us a top four finish for this season.

No doubt the calls for Kenny's head, the selling of players such as Henderson, Downing, Carroll will have gone into overdrive rececently and the witch hunt will have gone berserk on who is to blame?

Personally I feel it's a collective responsibility, is it Henderson's fault because Enrique fails to mark an attacker who scores (QPR?) no, of course it isn't. However, if you listened to certain sections of the media and our own fans our failings this season are simply due to Henderson, Downing, Carroll and Adam.

I even seen a post mentioning some "expert" called Norman Hubbard (yes, the famous Norman) who claims all the above players are to blame. As anyone who reads this site knows, I am firmly behind my team, my manager and my club. I also believe in what I see for myself and not what Sky, ESPN or talks@@@e reporters TELL me I should see/believe.

Have any of you who blame the above mentioned players given them credit for winning a trophy this season, beating Chelski, Stoke and City on the way? No I doubt you have. At the same time have you given the same players credit for reaching a FA cup semi final for the first time in 6 years, beating the Mancs and Stoke along the way? Again I'll wager no is the answer! And before anyone mentions I forgot Brighton and Oldham as lower opposition, Burnley anyone?

We pride ourselves on our football knowledge and our support, something I see very little of on this site. I have said before we were a rudderless ship before the new owners came in and before KK took over. Yes the results haven't been great recently, but with the exception of maybe 4/5 ACTUAL performances, Spuds (away) Utd (away) Swansea, Stoke and Wigan (all at home) spring to mind, can you honestly not see an improvement in the style of football we have played this season?

We have a massive game in two weeks time against a team who are consumed by us. They take more pleasure in us losing than they do in winning. They portray this myth about the amount we spend to the little Moyes has to spend and their bitter fans buy ity hook line and sinker. What they forget is Moyes has had 10 years to reach his SECOND semi final, Kenny has had 15 months.

What they also forget to mention is Moyes has broken their club transfer fee on more than 4 occasions, Beattie, Johnson, and the hair bear to name 3. People forget they have enjoyed the Sky years and all the money that brings - where does that go? certainly not on the ground otherwise they wouldn't have a wooden stand! Their mis-management is not OUR fault!

We need to get behind our team for the remainder of this season, regardless of results. My 11 son has a screen saver on his mobile simply saying, born a Red, die a Red, nothing else, no caveat saying only when we win or play well. He at his age understands the history of our club, what it stands for and what it means to us, the fans. He also understands what we the fans mean to our club (all my fault but thats my privilege as his dad!) get behind the boys, show them we are with them and hopefully back them to a third return to wembley!! - TMac

Great work first of all Ed's, This is my first post on here also,
I would like to say that given the performances this season there are areas in which we need to improve, for me it would be a winger (Antonio Griezman), centre attacking midfielder (Taarabt), a central midfielder (moussa sissoko) and striker (de jong). I personally am suprised no one has suggested Adel Taarabt, he really is a world beater when he plays on form, if he sorted his attitude out do you think there is a possibility? or do you think he will go France?
Lastly, I would leave the defence as it is, move kelly to CB to cover Carra when he takes a seat upstairs, and promote Flannagan, Robinson, Sterling and Suso.
Thanks
Steelo {Ed001's Note - Taarabt will never be a world beater, just like he will never be a part of a team, he has no understanding of playing for a team.}

Arsenal, City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool last 7 games...

...Man Utd and Arsenal last 7 games: WWWWWWW.
Man City last 7 games: WWWLWWD.
Chelsea last 7 games: DLWLWLD.
Liverpool last 7 games: ROFLMAO

HAHA! I must admit that was quite funny!

When are we going to to this :

38 games = 38 wins

Is it in my dreams or in your dreams or what ? The answer is to get players with confidence, have faith in the manager and themselves , believe and have play with their brains and not simply cross and pass the balls.

Sorry Macca I'm usually a fan of youre posts and do believe you have inside info.....but that has to be the most ambiguous post yet. A name or two might give you a bit more credibility. Keep up the good work though mate

Cozinoz did macca not say he doesnt know our targets,i think he did,hw can he says names wen he doesnt know himself. he has told us what he has heard, be happy with tht as he genarally is right lay of wait and see like the rest of us
mrbrown

Mrbrown,
I think what cozinoz meant, is anybody could guess the amount of players we wil sign. I'll have a go? I think we will add 3 players to our accademy and 6 players to our first team squad. If i get this right, it doesn't make me credible, it makes me good at guessing. Although if Macca says 5 players, hes rarely wrong. I'm willing to take his word on it.

Tom Werner: Chairman of Liverpool Football Club

Remember when they bought bought the club last year and everyone said they didn't have a history of acting like Hicks and Gillette

That sounds like bull.

Chairman Tom Werner raped San Diego Padres in 1990

Werner's first attempt at owning a professional sports franchise began on June 14, 1990 when he, along with 14 other Southern California-based investors, purchased the San Diego Padres from Joan Kroc for US $75 million. Holder of the largest financial stake in the ballclub, he served as the general managing partner amongst co-owners who were described by a former Padres employee as being fractious.

The Padres missed capturing the National League (NL) West title by three games in 1989, (very good team) a year prior to the start of Werner's tenure. Its 89–73 record was then the second best in franchise history. After a pair of winning seasons with third-place finishes in 1991 and 1992, they fell precipitously into the NL West cellar at 61–101 in 1993, six games behind the expansion Colorado Rockies. Performing at a 47–70 pace in 1994.

Cost Cutting>Player Sales
This sudden free fall in the standings was the result of the decimation of the starting lineup and pitching staff due to cost-cutting measures ordered by Werner and his fellow investors. He explained that the Padres lost $7 million in 1992, even though their receipt of a $12 million share of the expansion fees paid by the Rockies and Florida Marlins calculated into a $5 million profit. It was further claimed that the expansion money was used to repay part of a $20 million loan that had made the acquisition of the ballclub possible. There was also speculation that the combined wealth of the ownership group was among the highest in the majors at the time.

The reduction of the team's player payroll, known as the Fire Sale of 1993,[2] began on August 31, 1992 when Craig Lefferts was traded to the Baltimore Orioles. In the offseason, Randy Myers and Benito Santiago were allowed to become free agents, Tony Fernández and Mike Maddux were dealt to the New York Mets and Jerald Clark was selected by the Rockies in the expansion draft.[3] Even though he made a run at the Triple Crown the previous year, Gary Sheffield was sent to the Marlins on June 24, 1993. Less than a month later on July 18, defending NL home run champion Fred McGriff was shipped to the Atlanta Braves. Bruce Hurst and Greg Harris were moved to the Rockies on July 26.[7]

The trade of Darrin Jackson to the Toronto Blue Jays on March 30, 1993 resulted in a class action filed against the Padres. During the previous December, the team sent a letter to season-ticket holders assuring them that the maximum effort would be made to retain Jackson. They reneged on its pledge after Jackson won a $2.1 million arbitration award in February. Refunds were offered to ticket holders involved in the lawsuit.[3][7]

Werner's time as majority owner ended when John Moores acquired an 80% interest for $80 million on December 22, 1994

Werner sounds like a bigger crook than Hicks. He destored that football club.

Im guessing, boston redsox where only successful because they used player stats to purchase 4th rate players to win the league. something that can't be done in football.

So the same business principle of stripping the club of hight wage earners, player talent, value is likely to happen again.

Glen Johnson departure this summer will be the begining of the end. From now on in we are going to sell anyone of great skill and replace when with fuctional old timer.

Liverpool will never be great while it is owned by Americans {Ed001's Note - bit unfair to compare it. Even the great Shankly didn't win everything with his first attempt in management. Not just were the Padres not in the same sort of position as Liverpool are, but also FSG are not the same as the group of co-investors he was involved in then.}

I wonder when you first tried to walk as a child, did your parents say you perfected it at first go? Or maybe you took your bike off santa and rode it straight away with the peddles. See what I am getting at? People make mistakes when they try things at first. Hicks ruined Corinthians, Texas Rangers and Liverpool - 3 different clubs in 3 different continents, please don't compare or great owners to past COWBOYS!

Corkpoolred

Ed why do you let stupid posts like this through. Thr bloke obviously has no respect for lfc or the owners and hes allowed to post ridiculous posts like this. {Ed001's Note - what's ridiculous about it? The post is just an assessment of one of the owner's previous spells as owner of a sports club/franchise. Just because you and I may disagree about its relevance, does not make it ridiculous.}

Ed how could you even allow a post like this to get through? it is wrong on so many levels! {Ed001's Note - what someone giving a differing opinion is wrong? Right Chairman Mao, I will keep that in mind in the future.}

I fans like you make me angry

Ben

The Padres are a baseball team, not a football team btw.

Whilst I think Werner will have learned from his mistakes at the Padres, we've had no indication that he or John W. Henry would do any asset stripping at Liverpool.

The original poster mentions Glen Johnson, who is a good footballer, not a great defender, yet his contract seems to state he must play at right-back (Many of use would prefer him on the right of our midfield where we could best use his skills.) Add to that he is on huge wages, becoming increasingly injury prone, and we have some promising players coming through in his position in Kelly, Flanagan and McLaughlin, I don't think him being moved on would be the end of the world.

RedSG

One example of what is ridiculous about the original post:

"Im guessing, boston redsox where only successful because they used player stats to purchase 4th rate players to win the league. something that can't be done in football."

The only true words in this sentence are the first two.

John CT

That last was snarky. Sorry.

1. In 2004, when The Red Sox won the World Series for the first time in 86 years, they had the second highest payroll in baseball. Management may have picked up a player or two that other teams overlooked, but to describe them as 4th rate players is just silly. By the way, the Padres are usually near the bottom in payroll. It kind of changes the way management can approach things, no?

2. Of course it can be done in football. Why not?

"Chairman Mao" that was brilliant. Anyone who opposes OUR "great leap forward" should be silenced!

At last many people are stating the obvious - sell Carroll, Henderson, Downing and Adam - they are useless!!

So we bought players who all had very good seasons in the premier league last season and, after watching them take time to settle in a new club ( some out of position and young ) you want to sell them?
And buy who? Who in the premier that we can afford is having a better season than those did last year?
Or maybe you want to try some players from abroad? Ones we can afford, would come to us, are suited to our league, won't get homesick, won't sulk and strike to get a move as soon as a glamour team comes in?
So genious which four players are playing better than that four when we bought them, that you would get then??
RNred

Erm dont buy from the premier league, its not the best league in the world, we did pretty good with some spanish influences

With a Spanish manager, and we got rid of him.
But you miss the point, foreign players are no longer a lot cheaper and we are in the premier league!!
If we were in the german league with a german manager then I would suggest german ayers who had good seasons the year before, but were not.
RNred

Premier league is the best in the world It's just that British players are not. Big difference.

A question for you eds, which may be impossible to answer accurately, but itk guys like you may have an inkling....

In terms of the players bought this season do you know which were Kenny's choice and which were commoli's? Or is it very much a collobrative decision between those two and the owners?

I just think there is a lot of "Sack Kenny" rhetoric on here, but not so much "Sack Commoli"

I'm not sure either should go this year, another season seems more appropraite to me, but if Commoli rather than Dagliesh has been responsible for our underperforming new signings then perhaps its time for us to look at a different candidate for his position, Frank Arnsen perhaps?

Thanks Eds, still doing a great job

Andy H {Ed001's Note - collaborative, they discuss it as a group, coaching staff, scouting staff together, then Kenny and Commolli make the final decision on targets, with Dalglish having the final word. If he says no, then it won't happen.}

29 Mar 2012 12:04:41
Sell Downing, Adam, Hendo, Carroll. If we just get half of the money we paid, the teams who buys them would be stupid

Ahh nameless critic is back. Not sure why you say 'we' when youre transparently from another club?

If you are going to pick someone up for signing there posts atleast have the decency to sign your own, practice what you preach and all that

Perhaps everyone should read Norman Hubbard's article on ESPN soccernet. He talks about our new british contingent ("not so fab four of Downing, Henderson, Carroll and Adam"). He essentially blames the 'wasted season' on their let down, and Dalglish's failure to recognize his own errors in judgement regarding the quartet.

Obviously only one man's opinion. Yet it will resonate with many of us.

Coop

They will come good - especially Carroll and Henderson. Just one supporter's opinion

cozinoz

Well they have four months to come good. For we need to hit the ground running in August.

Another season like this then we will require a top to bottom clear out.

Not a rumour but more of a question for Eds or Macca

Where the hell is bellamy?

Having seen that Collocini is missing for Newcastle this weekend I feel we need to attack them with pace rather than Andy Cs brute force. Also do we need if Coates will be playing instead of Carragher?

Again I think Newcastles forwards are just too quick and mobile for Carragher. If Carra plays i think we could be in a whole world of trouble

thanks

RedDan {Ed001's Note - injured. He had a fitness test before Wigan which he failed.}

Attack anyway you want....pace or height. Williamson is in poor form and slow anyway.

Perch is quicker but isn't a CB.

I think Caroll and Suarez up top would work perfect for this game if downing knew how to float a ball onto his head, not just drill them aimlessly into the box

I have a couple of grumbles!
1. I am becoming increasingly ashamed of my fellow fans. Never in our history (with the exception of Souness after the s*n scandal) have we started speculating (aggressively) or demanding the removal of our manager. Some fans IMHO are completely deluded. YES we hoped for the league title, YES we hoped for Champions league football. BUT we have been in decline for years. Kenny Dalglish came into the club and picked up the reigns from the most negative manager we have ever had. He dragged us up the league and bought with him a new belief and solidarity in the squad. Yet after barely a season in charge of a rebuild all I see are posts on when he will go? He may actually step aside but in the mean time we should be 100% behind him and the squad and not talking about who may replace him.
2. Why do you ask for an ED's opinion and then slate the ED when he says "IMO no chance" ? You asked for an opinion and you got one!
3. No one (even Macca) knows who we will buy in the summer, its months away! People have OPINIONS and some have sources. Yet even the sources wont say who is hopefully coming in. So stop asking who we will buy, no one knows yet!

OK rant over, lets hope we can do Newcastle and make up for the awful loss at Wigan!

Best post since mine earlier on in the week! Completely agree too many negative fans and too much b*tching about the EDs who do a fantastic job.

JonGeorge6 {Ed001's Note - awww thank you! *blushes*}

The difference now is the media and sites like this. You are only getting a small percentage of opinions. Go to a match and ask the same questions for a balanced view.

Ive been going to the match for over 30 years. Unfortunately i now live abroad. However my friends and family are Kop season ticket holders, and yes they are p*ssed off with results, annoyed at some buys (Hendo,Carroll..) however they are still behind the team and they are getting annoyed with the negativity surrounding the club!

You're talking in riddles. If people are p*ssed off at results, and annoyed at the buys, then by definition they are contributing to the "negativity surrounding the club". Or am I missing something?

Dont you guys think it would be great that if any club won both domestic cups fa and carling you could get a CL spot or have a qualifying game for CL.

Red Raj

Clutching at straws mate. face it were not good enough for the champions league this year.

Haha in light of our current situation, sure! Why not?! But honestly, if you were to ask me at any other time, not a chance.

Yeah i know if wishfull thinking i guess if chelsea spend big in the summer and city and utd carry on the way they have its going to be hard. I can't see the two manchester clubs outside the top 4 so theres two places up for grabs next season thats the way i see it.

Red raj

I personally dont, top 4 teams over a season deserve those spots imo

Winner of europa league should get in, would make the competition a lot better and more valuble.

Anyone wanting to buy tickets for the FA Cup Semi Final against Everton (providing you qualify for a ticket) DO IT ONLINE!
I bought my Carling Cup Final tickets online whilst otheres queued for hours, and it took me 20 mins and i got to pick seats and ended up with row 13 behind the goal. I have just bought my Semi Final tickets and it took me just 10 minutes and ended up with row 7 behind the goal!
Seriously guys, dont waste your time on the phone or in a queue outside Anfield, do it online!!

I take by your progress that if Liverpool reach the Final you will actually be in goal!

Jarvis 17m. You having a laugh?

Surely its a wind up? holt is about 2m, morrison 3m, jarvis 5m, rog johnson, 3m, elokobi 250k

£66 million pounds! Keep it in the bank and bring on our own young lads. I think that that is what is going to happen anyway.

Do you englishmen not know the word Irony or Sarcasm? LOL!

Daniel, there is too much sarcasm in England that people don't even know if people are being sarcastic or not.

LiverpoolMad1976

To be honest even tho it was a sarcastic post, it wont be a million miles away from the truth, last year we bought from sunderland, blackpool, aston villa and newcastle.

jarvis 17m
roger johnson 12m

you are kidding right ! inflated monies on these players.....kenny buy them and we will have good time .....hahahha

Let me make this clear, Im old school and a die hard red. Ive followed the reds since I was a boy through all the glory days of Dalglish, Souness, Heighway etc. Two Wembley trips in one season brings tears to my eyes and pride in our wonderful club.

Let battle commence with our local rivals..... but lets do it with honour and dignity.

I went to the 1986 final with my 3 brothers ( all blues) and we had a fantastic time with both sets of supporters.

The atmosphere before the game was brilliant, with the toffees the more vocal. They were full of themselves, and I was a little quiet before the game. The blues certainly know how to celebrate, but luckily we beat them with some superb goals, but I have to admit that if Southall hadnt been injured it would have a been closer result.

But that was then and this is now. I pray that EVERY supporter wether blue or red, enjoys the spectacle that is about to unfold, remembers the 96 who sadly lost their lives at Hillsborough and they take either defeat or glory with dignity.

This semi final is not about us getting one over on our neighbours, its about enjoying a wonderful game of football between two great football teams who are representing our wonderful City.

I hope we win, but if sadly we lose, I for one will fully support Everton in the final, they will be representing our city against a cockney team and that is always more important to me.

Best wishes to all supporters whoever you support, but most importantly enjoy every aspect of the game, from the second you awake on 14th April to the last pint you finish....it will be a day to remember thats for sure !

Tel 1949

I love a good Tel1949 post. Always positive, its like a regular pep-talk to all the downers on here. A true supporter - keep it up, Tel

cozinoz

I think this post is my favourite for some time. I am delighted to find that the spirit of our club is very much still alive and kicking. I feel far better now after reading so many despondent and vitriolic posts in the previous few days. I agree that making it to Wembley twice is a considerable achievement, but a third visit this season would be even better, followed another visit at the start of next season in the charity shield.

Red Owl

Here here! A very good post, these days don't roll around too often, enjoy them when they do.

Rugby Parker

Thanks for the nice comments boys, I meant every word of it.....oh if only these sort of games could become commonplace in the near future....

I have had enough of United winning the title by disgraceful referee decisions, like the blatant penalty in their last game. I want to see LFC and Everton fighting for the title, not Man Citeh vs Unartid.

Lets get behind our wonderful team....cmon you mighty reds!

I know this is a banter site and I know we can all dream but let us all be realistic? We will not buy 5-6 players this year for the first team. We do not need them. What we need are 1-2 players (Striker and winger as everyone agrees). Building a team is about getting the backbone right and then adding 1-2 players a season. ou build from the back. We used to do this and KD has achieved the first. The next step is to get the 1-2 players to improve the squad. My vote would be Lorentte (spelling). The youth have enough quality for our future as long as we do not lose them. Leave the club to do this and we will get there.
Iggypop

Will you guys chillout it wont be 5 players for the first team

Glad you think we only need one or two players. i think we need a minimum of four two strikers, right wing, creative mid. sell carrol, lazy and slow

I beg to differ, with the likely departures of kuyt, maxi and fitness or lack of with regard to bellars I think we should expect 5 in.

Look at the squad and tell me who has got goals or looks likely to get them? we have very few game changers who can get goals against the like of stoke when they park the bus. four minimum required [creative] type players.

29 Mar 2012 08:15:38
a lot of ta;k that johnson is leaving.......wer does this stem from? we are of our heads 2 if we think we can attract the best players at this moment in time. great history but that is being quickly diminished by this current crop of players...we are simply not good enough and the excuses need to stop. although i am excited by some of youngsters....sterling,suso,morgan etc.

29 Mar 2012 07:42:57
there has been talks about players but what is the update on managers? Who is favorite to take over from KD if he leaves/gets sacked at the end of the season if he lasts this long. Despite the form of late he has brought back pride and belief to the club and it is disappointing that fans want want him gone. Support the manager/staff/owner and players we have now. We are the best club and best fans in the world so lets act like it on and off the pitch. YNWA

Kenny will not leave or be sacked. He will come to an agreement with the owners to move upstairs, if and when they find another manaer.

29 Mar 2012 07:02:12
Watched the match between Milan & Barca yesterday....got to say that Andy Carrol's work-rate is far better than Ibra's and Andy looks better than the swede though the latter has been having much more success in front of goal...but then maybe Milan are playing to Ibra's strength which Lfc are not doing...I personally feel big Andy will come good and be a heavyweight in the EPL in the near future and it'll be a mistake by Lfc to offload him in the summer...just my thought.

Ibra's touch and instant control is that of a top class striker. Where's Andy's touch and control? Or more to the point at what level is Andy's touch and control.
kidmillions

Haha yeah you're right. Lets ring up Allegri and offer a straight swap. While we're at it, lets swap Maxi for Robinho and Adam for Nocerino as well.

Ibra is seriously over-rated

I know you guys couldn't spell Ibrahimovic.. He is pure class BTW. His touch and finishes are absolutely brilliant. Its just that he is getting old.

DC needs to find some smart buys for sure with whatever FSG give us and whatever we make off sales of those surplus to requirements.

The best Liverpool teams of recent years have had multiple scorers and this is where we need to improve.

In 2001 we had Robbie, Owen, Sir Stevie, Murph, Heskey, Smicer, Barmby & McAllister score 8 goals or more

In 2005 we had Sir Stevie, Baros, Garcia and Riise score 8 goals or more.

Downing needs to be more aggressive and either pass or pull the trigger. Kewell and Riise were lefties good at taking players on and passing off or having a shot. Adam and Hendo arent goalscorers and we need someone on the right who can make and score goals. Cant expect Suarez, Stevie and AC to get all the goals... DC get some help for them!

Hi eds, do liverpool have a wage cap? If so, what is it?
Also, do you think there is any chance the wage cap(if we have one) will be increased in the future to enable us to attract players of a higher calibre, if we obtain champions league qualification? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - There is not a wage cap.}

29 Mar 2012 03:37:43
ed can i get this again? sry i think ive been misled by someone.

5th - europa
carling cup winners - europa

fifa fair play (least cards collected) - europa
or
6th place - europa

im confused, 6th place or fifa fair play gets the other europa spot?

thanks

Kaizer {Ed002's Note - Neither - it goes to the FA Cup winner.}

If you win the Carling Cup you get europa league football, which is a good prize to win it, but if you win the FA Cup you get europa league football, again a good prize if you win really. But if you win them both, in effect your only getting one prize (in terms of next seasons football, i know the REAL prize is the trophey, money, delight etc) Why not is you win the Carling Cup AND the FA Cup in one season, "swap" your 2 europa league places for a champions league place :) ha, very wishfull thinking and I do say this tounge in cheek before people have a go, but its worth a thought

Haha and if we win the Carling Cup and the FA cup, and throw in a few quid we can exchange it for the League!

Hey guys, Arsenal fan here. Is 'LFC cup kings' one of ur guys(suspecting he's a Sp*r in disguise)? Coz he has been mouthing off on the Arsenal banter page making ppl like me who have respect for Liverpool lose it. Needlessly diminishing the class of ur club.

Never seen a 'LFC cup kings' on our banter page, sounds like someone desperately using our history to hide their own club faillings.

To be fair mate, its people like him that call himself a "fan" of Liverpool ... but they think the word "fan" means to look out for Liverpools results on sky sports new, every now and then, so I wouldnt take much notice of what people like him say
Personally, I dont know about many other LFC fans on here, but I like Arsenal, very good to watch, always entertaining. No rivalry like we have with United or Chelsea, numerous entertaining games between us both (4-4 league game at anfield, champs league quarters, 1-1 at arsenal last season etc etc)

Nope, never seen him on this site and I come here, whether to post or read, atleast once a day.

AG

No 'LFC cup kings' here - most probably a WUM manc or spud. Ignore the poster (probably a raving lunatic) Singred

He's not a spur, he was on our page up until about a month ago giving it loads, I've never seen his name on here but he could b using a different name just like a couple of GOONERS on spurs page. Ask the ed to note his Ip address & see if it pops up on lfc page

Reality check. Last year we splashed 100 million and got one star, Suarez, and several support Players. The owners have said they will not spend big again. And yet people think we will be signing all these big european players ( Soldado, Lavezzi, Etc). While it is exciting to dream, the reality is we will not get any of these players for multiple reasons. We will most likely purchase one first teamer, a few support players and a few youth squad. European stars go to CL teams and/or teams offering megabucks. We can only offer a proud history. Unfortunately, not everyone is as sentimental as King Kenny

Here, here. Do FSG really offer anymore than the 2 cowboys we have just got rid of?

Paddy B75

Exactly dude..and dono..how many more years we wil lbe singing this history....cant see any good future with this team..this was the year to break the lock..and we purchased some great players...who are capable of playing 2nd division

When did the owners say that then?...must have missed that one !

Rubbish post of the day!

The owners have said that they are not going to be spending a lot of money but developing from inside the club. Makes common sense as far as I am concerned. It will also shut up a lot of the "WE spent £....." fans.

Oh yess arsenal, jueventus and liverpool r after him and the 1st 2 can give him champions league football and what can u give mid table finish ?? be realistic about ur targets

P.S: if any arsenal supporter comes and thrashes u here then plzzz go on our site what one of ur friends with the name LFC CUP KINGS is doing

Ahhh the old "we can offer champions league football" routine! Lets face it, Arsenal have as much chance as Anderlecht at winning the Champions League, so i'm not sure it's as big a draw as you seem to think. I dare say a new Arsenal signing like Gervinho would rather have 1 winners medal in his pocket, and possibly another on the way, than the hightlight of his season being spanked by AC Milan in the last 16 of the CL.

My five would be
Tello
Soldado
Martinez or M VlLa
Llorente
Ramirez

But I would also cut my losses and get rid of Henderson and downing and if possible Carroll too

Yes to rid of carrol but the other two deserve a chance of at least another season

None would join

Have you not been watching them play this season- I say cut our losses
