The Hollywood Star/ LFC fan, i would like to see at Anfield this weekend is Angelina Jolie she absolutely adore's LFC.

IF she did turn up she'd probably end up adopting a few under privileged kids (Toffee Nose's).

David James- was a metal casem n spice boi who was up all night, doing god knows what,

29 Sep 2010 22:49:26

Ed, who was the brazillian league top scorer that rafa signed and used him as a centre back you were talking about earlier {ed's note - I said auxiliary centre back mate, because that is where Lucas played under Rafa.}

29 Sep 2010 22:35:46
RE David James- he got a hard time at LFC

David James got a hard time, because many of mistakes where due to CBK not being able to head the ball clear, Evans wanted a CBK so James had easy time at it, but David James had everything needed to be a Goal keep. He was built to play in goal. {ed's note - James had everything needed except the ability to concentrate, the ability to put the effort into training (when he could be bothered to turn up for it), the ability to get a good night's sleep before a match instead of sitting up all night playing computer games, and many more attributes he lacked mate.}

The campaign against Liverpool's owners is about to reach for the stars…with a cast of Hollywood A-listers READY to highlight the protest.

Film industry big-hitters Mike Jefferies and Dan Hubbard, who are passionate Reds disgusted at what is happening to their beloved club, are on Merseyside this weekend to make a film highlighting the current plight.

Jefferies is a Hollywood producer and director with a string of box office hits to his credit, while Hubbard has been involved in massive blockbusters such as King Kong and Bourne Ultimatum, and both will bring their impressive contacts list to the party.

They intend to make a film that will hit the internet next week, with celebrities and influential Liverpool fans involved in what promises to be a massive viral campaign with millions of online hits.

Already, superstars such as Samuel L Jackson and Mike Myers – both confirmed Liverpool fans – are rumoured to be involved, and Jefferies, who wrote and produced the Disney 'Goal!' series of movies, has promised some huge names.

"You won't believe who's involved. I've been stunned by terrific reaction of so many celebrity Reds, and many, many fans want to be involved in the film too, " he said.

"It is important to get the message across that the fans want Hicks and Gillett out. There are millions of supporters who can not accept their club being touted as a product like a soft drink.

"The viral is already building massive momentum and there is a real feeling now amongst the fanbase. But they don't care, they don't care about our club – except its valuation.

"They don't care about the players or the fans. Or our history, or our heritage, and they don't care about our future.

"By trying to refinance instead of showing some class and cutting a reasonable deal with someone and cutting his losses, Hicks is saying 'f* k you' to the fans.

"So what should we say in reply? ENOUGH! The only way we can get him to change his arrogant mindset is to give him a bloody nose and embarrass him in front of his family, friends, business associates, investors etc.

"Therefore, I flew up from Cape Town last night to come to Liverpool to make a short film here this weekend in which Liverpool fans and stakeholders will tell Tom Hicks – and the world – what they think of him. We are going to shame him and hit him where it hurts."

The Hollywood pair have already enlisted some massive stars to appear in the film, but they want more fans, and more celebrities to turn up in Liverpool this week to be part of the film.

They will be based at the Hope Street Hotel in the city centre from 10am-6pm on Saturday, and 9am-noon on Sunday, and want people to come along to record their protest.

"Our aim is to work night and day so that we can have the film uploaded onto YouTube by Tuesday, and we would then like fans to email the URL to their entire address books, " he added.

"Imagine if we could get a MILLION hits. If we can achieve that, then we can rest assured that everyone who counts will know that Tom Hicks is utterly despised. And more importantly, Tom Hicks will know."

Jefferies wants as many fans as possible to join him, and he has promised to keep everyone updated on his Twitter account, which can be found on mikejefferiesL4. And who knows, there may be messages from some of Hollywood's biggest stars on there….

Arr i couldn't remember when James was signed. I saw him (James) many times and he gave goals away for fun, I couldn't even start with the games i watched and he gave goals away galore, Coventry at home when they were bottom, manure at home, Villa away (three times). . . .oh God i'm going off on one now!

But agreed Ed, Evans may have done better with more freedom to actually manage, although you haven't convinced me he couldn't handle the 'big' stars. I heard so many stories at the time it wasn't funny.

Bob the Red {ed's note - like I said he was hampered by Moores, it was impossible with a chairman like him who wanted to be bessies with the players. Believe me I have very valid reasons for detesting Moores as intensely as I do, he was the worst chairman we could possibly have got. Constantly interfering with the team, rescinding punishments etc, he made the team impossible to manage.}

29 Sep 2010 22:00:17
That's what i heard at the time Ed and no doubt Roy would have cooled down!

But offensively he had the best side, i possibly should have been a bit clearer and some great local talent, the problem was we were crap defensively and i mean crap. He never seemed to get that part of the side right. Babb, Ruddock, Scales, Kvarme, Wright, James, Matteo were just either too erratic, injury prone, lazy, over weight, did i mention crap? If one gave a goal away one week, then the next week it was someone else.

Yet going forward we had McManaman (who was sheer class), Fowler, Collymore, Barnes, Berger, Redknapp, McAteer with Carragher, Owen coming into the squad in 95/ 96?

Evans bought Babb, Ruddock, James(?), Kvarme (eeek!) so you have to say he was given money to spend and at the time, it was a fair amount of money for them combined.

But Ed I have to say when you talk about Benitez being a great manager and then you go and mention Shanks and 'Sir' Bob, end of story really, stopped that in its tracks right off!

Personally 'Sir' Bob Paisley was THE best manager this Country has ever seen, bar none.

Many, many years ago i had the absolute luxury of talking to Alan Hansen about LFC and the stories he told about 'Sir' Bob will live in my memory forever. It was a pity i was so young when he was in charge, i only wished i knew more about him during that time.

Bob the Red {ed's note - James was a Souness signing mate, I remember seeing his Anfield debut and wondering what the hell we had signed him for. Some of the things he did while at the club were a disgrace for a professional athlete to consider and Roy was desperate to find a replacement (Friedel being tried but not working out unfortunately). The problem was, Roy would ask Moores for a defender, but Moores would tell him there was no money, but he could find it for Collywobbles! I just wish Roy had been given the freedom that Rafa had been given to choose players as he wanted them.}

I don't think any EPL team will buy landon donovan , but he may be up for another loan period and it would be nice to see a player like him at lfc. he is a nice player

29 Sep 2010 21:39:55
Pompey's desperate need for money should have seen the price paid for Johnson reduced, yet we still gave them millions on top of what they owed us, that was a terrible piece of business

humm, but in football (hands out), you have to pay off the agents, you won't get anything the next season if you don't look after your friends. Beni must of taken bit off the top (back pocket). Harry understands how the game works, so does SAF and it does happen. The club loses a little on transfers and pompey chairman is soo bent im wouldn't be suprised that they all got a bit extra.

But u can't blame beni for takin bungs, they all do it

David James, John Scales, Phil Babb, Steve McManaman, Jamie Redknapp, Robbie Fowler, John Barnes, Mark Wright, Ian Rush Rob Jones, Harkness, Stan Collymore, Patrik Berger, Michael Owen,

Evans players.

With no aurelio, konchesky or agger will roy be forced to play mavinga. ed to you think roy would play him and more importantly is he ready for the big time, had had a great euro's i hope he gets his chance {ed's note - I hope Mavinga plays, I really rate him highly, I think he is very ready.}

Am i only person who thinks we should sign landon donovan , to play on left wing and put johnson on right wing kelly at rb

BTW who bought reina, agger, luis garcia, xabi, mascherano, torres, kuyt, etc.

-They are great players, but it all went pete tong when Luis Garcia got injuried. At that Point in time, liverpool had two great passers of the ball. The Problems began, With the purchase of Torres. To get Torres, beni had to let alot other players leave like crounch, bellamy. The fact that liverpool couldn't afford mega signings like Torres was one of problems.

Beni' need for great players, vs finances. Then the Yanks turned up and things got worst. Beni wanted to push LFC into elite of set of football by buying the worlds best. We wanted to spend 20+ a player instead of 10+ and hope they turn into 20+ player

Now, Lfc should have build a new staduim and curved beni's ambitions instead of letting yanks come in. Moores, Beni, Yanks, all have to take blame for lfc.

G -Jonhson, has a great foot on him, plus LPE where bringing in english player quota, so we needed to play more for english players. Portsmouth owed us £7m+ that lfc knew it would never see because portsmouth where about to go brankrupt. So we got a £10+ player and wrote off 7m that we would never get. Is johnson worth £10m? maybe he is worth 7m + 3m english tax.

Aqualani is a great player, he should of played for us, and everyone else would see just how good he can be.

4 cbk theory, for a defensive to have keep playing well, they need 4 CBKs in a squad, made up of 2 first team, one young, one older. Once sammi left, lfc had 1.5m left to replace him. Kyrgiakos came in as cover. {ed's note - cover that could have been provided by the youngster that had been bought to provide cover - Ayala. Oh and Pompey's desperate need for money should have seen the price paid for Johnson reduced, yet we still gave them millions on top of what they owed us, that was a terrible piece of business.}

On the Roy Evans saga he had, at his disposal, possibly the best squad we've had in many a decade but he couldn't control them and they pretty much showed him a complete lack of respect as well as a pretty poor attitude.

However the way he was usurped from the position was also very disrespectful and actually showed us what a man Moores was. Evans deserved to be treated far better than that, he did more for this club than Moores ever did (positive stuff that is).

From accounts i have heard locally he felt very bitter and angry at his treatment. Ed knows a relative i believe so maybe able to quash or confirm this?

Sir Bob the Red {ed's note - Roy is a friend of a relative mate, but to say he had the best squad is false. I disagree with that completely mate, but I am biased as I always liked Roy Evans a lot. He had no problems with the players, the problem was Moores interfering and overruling every punishment he made etc. When Evans wanted to buy players to replace the ones that were causing problems Moores refused to release the funds for replacements. At the time he was extremely hurt and bitter, but time heals all wounds mate.}

To be fair I've never been to Anfield -if only, but I am a lifelong supporter.

It pains me deeply to see the state the 'American Idiot' - that was the song wasn't it – Please, please sing at the ground! Have done to the club.

The very last thing I want to see is them walk away with the future of the club in the balance and a profit in their pockets. Gillett I'm less angry with, but Hicks, what a total £*ck head! !

In some very very sad respects I almost want the club to go into administration - simply to make it a much more attractive proposition to outside buyers. The Americans have wholeheartedly mishandled the club, management and most importantly the supporters worldwide and as a result deserve sweet fanny adams from it. If that means that they leave with moths in the wallets - so be it.

As for the manager, I never really was a believer in RH being a swift fix, and that's exactly what we now need. The players he is interested in are older and clearly second rate fill ins – not good enough Roy sorry. Do what you can while you can, but I for one have already lost faith.

I can't believe I'm actually writing this (because I loathe the man) but, if we were to hit administration O'Niell may be the man to galvanise the team into a spirited Liverpool resurrection as only we can do!

He's not a long term solution but as a season or two with a significant bonus for Europa this year and CL the following season, I think he would be up for it if he was reasonably financially supported. Let's face it not propping up the twots with £60-80m pay off, would go a long way to achieve that: providing we can retain our key assets. .!

Take it easy, YNWA - CLOY

Roy Evans has played the best football with that liverpool team, use to love hearing McManan in to Fowler and its a goal. The newcastle 3v4 games, end to end football

If he had been able to buy in a bit more quality. i wonder where we could of gone with him. I remeber the day he lost his job, it felt like your dad had lost his job. I remebr his daughter speaking for him, saying he had taken liverpool to 3rd spot 3x in row and won liverpool Coca Cola Cup in 1995

I understand why liverpool let him go, just felt like we where not pushing clubs like Arsenal and Man Utd and we where always going to be 3rd best. But havnt yet found our Arsene Wenger or Alex Ferguson. Liverpool is likely to be a life-time job. We need someone who will spend 20 years at the club and build from the ground up.

RE Rafa Benitez was never great manager

Everyone seems to forget that Hector Cuper built that velencia team in 1999 - 2001 that Rafa made his name off of cuper back. Cuper was a coaching guru, he took velencia to two Champions League finals in two years with player like Claudio Lopez, Gaizka Mendieta , Zlatko Zahovic, Pablo Aimar

Beni wasn't a great manager and we will see how great he really is at Inter Milan. This is the first time he isn't able to raid another club for assets. Inter have a old team and lets see him f-it up like he did at Liverpool.

I expect that team to be run into the ground, beni doesn't know how to bring youth through. The inter team has 2 season in it and i expect beni to try and win the champions league with them. Then Piss off.

The guy is a leach of the modern game. Able to waste a clubs money.

Hi ed,
rafa won with valencia, with liverpool and i think
you remember when we played valencia what
happened i don't think you call it boring!
regarding hodgson i don't like his signings poulsen
and konchesky and i hoped for a different reaction
against ferguson claims on torres.
thanks malta {ed's note - yes, but he never allowed Liverpool to perform that way. He had us playing stale, negative, defensive football and yet he still didn't win the league. If Rafa had won the league then I would have lived with the boredom, but he failed in that job and that was his job, to win the Premier League. I don't rate Poulsen either, I do think he could have handled it differently with Torres as well.}

Hi ed,
i just want to remind everyone, you forgot those games against chelsea, barca, real madrid, ac milan,
internazionale, juventus, olympiakos, bayer leverkusen etc?
and BTW who bought reina, agger, luis garcia, xabi, mascherano, torres etc.
for me rafa was a GREAT liverpool manager and i
will never forgot those emotions.
thanks malta {ed's note - I remember those games, and yes he bought some good players too, though I am not a fan of Luis Garcia or Mash. But what I was meaning is he bought the wrong players, when we needed a partner for Torres he bought Johnson and Aqualani. He went out and bought Kyrgiakos because we had injuries, not because we needed another centreback. Rafa was not a great manager by any stretch of the imagination, he played stale, boring football and bored me to tears for years. He gave us some great moments, but that was all, even Istanbul was only good for a few minutes after half time then it was back to everyone behind the ball. He did some great things for the city of Liverpool and for local charities, but he was not a great manager. He is not Shankly or Paisley, they were great managers.}

Just seen Xabi Alonso on SkySports revista de la Liga. What class. Spraying the ball all over the field. Superb. Should be still at Liverpool. Nice man. Gentleman.
- - - - - - - - - - -
LOVE TO SEE HIM BACK AT LIVERPOOL, BUT I DOUBT ITS POSSIBLE, NOT JUST FINANCE, BUT MOURINHO WOULD NOT SELL TO LIVERPOOL. ALSO LOOKS LIKE THERE IS CHANGE FROM SIGNING LATIN PLAYERS TO NORTHERN EUROPEAN PLAYERS UNDER HODGSON.

29 Sep 2010 18:49:47

{ed's note - I don't see the relevance in your attack on Roy to a question I was asked about Rafa? Rafa bought crap like Babel that no one else wanted, despite him being shopped around the world for years by Ajax. He bought the Brazilian league's top scorer then played him as an auxiliary centre back. He bought some utter dross squad players like Kyrgiakos, when the squad didn't need them, that is what I meant by the wrong players. He was buying back ups when we needed first teamers. Roy has barely taken over the club yet you are talking about him not giving kids a chance, hardly fair when they have played in every cup game. Let's judge him at the end of the season not now. Ok you might have a point in the 'not everything in the papers is rubbish' just 99% of it is.}

touchy .
You are being unfair , I did not attack Roy with regards to the kids , if you read my point 2 again you will clearly see I was asking the question as to why neither managers picking youth players , is there a deeper reason for it, I in no way shape or form said Roy is bad for not picking youth .
My attack (if you call it attack) on Roy was about the players he bought so far , 2 good youth players with great potential given away for a 29 left back who is not much better than that the 21 year old we had and we won't get a penny for when he leaves next year. He re-signed Aurelio knowing he is not fully fit and paying him wages whilst not playing, then there is meireles , 11m for a player much older and not as good as a player he sent away on loan (again we will end up giving him away next year for nothing)
Roy {ed's note - not as good as Aqualani? Are you for real? The man who makes Aurelio seem battle hardened! Konchesky is a better player than Insua too, plus he doesn't have the off field problems that come with the Argentine. The two youth lads were not seen as being good enough to make it at the club, that is why they were allowed to leave, there is better coming through than them. As for the youth not getting a chance, I understand what you are saying, but Roy is looking for experience to lift the side right now and then bleed the youngsters in when things get going. Not the way I would do it personally but that is what he thinks is for the best. By the way, what difference does it make if a player can be sold for money later if they improve the side now? That should be the only reason to buy a player.}

Hi ed,
from your short answers i realised you have a very
good knowledge of continental football so i, m
very surprised that you blame rafa for almost
everything! BTW players like hamsik, lavezzi, javi
martinez, ever banega, suarez are the QUALITY we
dont have to make us top team again, regarding the
ownership cause now it came my obsession do you
know anything? too many dates mentioned!
thanks malta {ed's note - I don't blame Rafa for almost everything, I blame him for buying the wrong players, I partly blame him for the team's lack of confidence and I blame him for the youth players not getting a chance. I don't think that is quite everything though. I have no info regarding the ownership, no one except a very small number of people know anything about it. Everything in the papers is utter rubbish and guesswork mate.}

QUITE RIGHT ED.

Who do you think should be blamed?
Another point is although there are many great footballers around europe, the premier looks easy. I saw an interview with Desailly when he used to watch the prem he thought how easy it looked yet when he came it was so fast that he was just making mistake after mistake.Ok he adjusted but look at others who have come and struggled . Ramires for Chelsea last week got bullied and really struggled. Managers really do have to do their homework, you can't just go and buy fancy dans. SMF

Sorry but I like to butt in ,
1- Rafa and wrong players? Roy so far done much worse, at least Rafa was buying young with potential to develop (Lucas as example - Babel was a great potential , Insua was on the right track etc).

2- Not just Rafa; Roy is not playing the youth either, is there a deeper problem or cause for managers are not using them? is it a possibility that the coaching staff think they are not ready?

3- Ed, not everything in the papers is rubbish and guess work, its a matter of percentages, I think you would know more than anyone else here stories change from day to day , and each story have multiple views depending on who you talking to, its funny how many people on this site copy your "papers are rubbish" theory and dismiss everything they read.

Roy {ed's note - I don't see the relevance in your attack on Roy to a question I was asked about Rafa? Why have we got no left footed left backs in our team? Roy should atleast give Mavinga a chance if not in the starting 11 then on the bench. ! anyone agree?

Totally agree, agger is a class ball playing centre back that we need, I'd play those two together in the prem and the cares and one more in Europe.

Hey, ed.Just seen that my post on the Bluesh*ep site got heavily (and perhaps rightly) censored.Well, my apologies for any offense it might have caused.I respect you and your colleagues.I don't like trouble myself, and not in the least am I interested in causing any for you.The post was just meant as banter.

Gerrard stayed behind not cos he is rested, the season has only just begun but he has a meeting with his solicitor and agent. His wife has filed for divorce as he has been playing around ( not of golf ) again. Torres knew this and didn't agree with it that is why he refused to celebrate with him on Sunday. Watch this space and expect him to be off in January.

Hick has set up his own aqcuastion company called hicks 2 aquastion as stated in the dily post and selling shares at £10 to raise £145 millon pound or 230 million dollars looks like hes ready for a fight to gain control of lfc liverpool fans must stand and fight for are club as there greed has torn the club apart.

{Editor's Note: Just to be clear that Hicks Acquisition Company II, Inc. was the vehicle used by Hicks in June to seek refinancing. If you wish to know more about this organisation there is the original company filing which is not really a great read - but it may be found by following this link: http://tinyurl.com/3338zm8

I should stress that there is nothing new here at all. No new information and nothing to get excited about. The fact that KopTalk found out about this today is typical - but it is old news.}

It's doubtful he'd use the funds in that way. His first SPAC saw him acquire Resolute Natural Resources Co. which has seen an increase from $9.75 to $12.40 in it's share price since last September and the documentation for the new SPAC states " it will look for "established companies with sound historical financial performance" including "predictable, recurring" revenue." That hardly describes a football club's finances. Although the target for the acquisition is not revealed, there has to be a 70% agreement amongst stock purchasers for the acquisition or merger with any target company to go through.
All he would be doing is bailing out a temporary position with no evidence of solid future returns. He wouldn't get 7% approval amongst stockholders, nevermind the 70% required.

I think we're safe with this one.

Can hamsik play as defensive midfielder? {ed's note - I have not seen him play there myself, he doesn't seem to have defensive instincts though.}

ED, inler and hamsik, which one is better? {ed's note - it is difficult to compare the two, but if I was looking to buy one for Liverpool, I would choose Hamsik out of the two.}

When Hicks and Gillett go I'd like to see new owners who have enough money to build the stadium and provide us with good funs not like Manchester City however but a good amount. Hopefully then we can get someone who cares about the club enough to bring in ex-players to help run it. I.e King Kenny to still be in the club, Rush also, But I'd like to see Barnes, Hansen, Lawrenson all part of liverpool again.

Or am I living in dream land?

{Editor's Note: The stadium and reasonable funding available would be the ideal. I don't see roles for all of the ex-players though.}

It seems supporters of Liverpool have been inspired by the power of the internet By using social media sites, blogs, viral email campaigns and online video, generated a massive network of supporters via cyberspace.

With the mid-October deadline looming fans are intensifying their campaign to oust the American owners. By using the internet to mobilise 'fan power' and lobby financial institutions who may be in a position to help Hicks and Gillett

"If we hear that Hicks is due for a meeting with a bank, within minutes we can mobilise via our forums and networks. Soon the bank's e-mail system will be inundated. We have the intelligence needed to keep ahead of the game. Liverpool fans are everywhere and, once we have the information, we can act quickly."

Kop Faithful are now directing their efforts towards RBS. Supporters have been invited to e-mail the bank, appealing to executives to decide against granting Hicks and Gillett a new loan extension and instead call in the debt and seize power at Anfield.

"Our worry is that RBS are earning such huge sums in penalty fees and interest payments that they will let Hicks and Gillett off the hook and give them more time, " says Kayll. "We plan to exert as much pressure as possible on RBS between now and their decision in October. They are receiving 10,000 e-mails a day from Liverpool fans. If they grant another extension, I think it's the beginning of the end for Liverpool FC. It's that serious."

Ed, tell me.If Randolf does manage to pull a bunny out of the hat (God forbid), would it be fair to say that a total boycott would be our only recourse (me reckons yes)?I know that the clube will suffer, but surely no any other suffering would be worse than what Randolf will do should he stay on?
If being relegation fodder means good riddance to bad rubbish Randolf and Mortimer, so be it.We CAN and WILL rise again.

Gracias,
Lombardi Cazorla

Ps:EVERTON SINK TO DEPTHS OF PREMIERSHIP.Ha, ha, ha! {ed's note - if, and it is a big if, that happens, a total boycott could do irreparable damage to the club. I don't think it will come to that anyway, but I agree that maybe the damage done by a boycott would be less than that done by letting Hicks keep control.}

Good news for REDS fans this morning.HICKS is struggling to find a buyer for the DALLES STARS.
Monarch Investment Group are in control of the STARS after HICKS defaulted on $525M worth of loans he took to fund the STARS & RANGERS.
RANGERS went to bankruptcy court to resolve the sale of them.

To the guy who wrote -

28 Sep 2010 23:33:38

A few weeks ago a posted on here saying that the news that Liverpool had been placed in GRS was old hat and that RBS would give a stay of execution until 16 October and no-one believed me. Looks like I was out by a day, what with the press now saying that 15 October is the end date.

I'm not bulls* ting here. I know that the GRS team in charge is based in Manchester and the law firm I work for has good connections with the team. The team pulled the plug on one of Manchester's biggest law firms (Halliwells) and from what I here, the guy in charge (a rabid Manc) would have no quarms about putting us into administration.

I just hope to God things have moved on since I got my information and that there are some bone fide buyers at the table because that is the only way I can see RBS taking us over (legally, they would have to put us into administration first to enforce the debt before buying us off the administrators - I just hope that the Premier League plays ball and doesn't deduct points).

Presuming there is a takeover but not the money to build a new stadium, why can't we do a phased development of Anfield? Anyone remember Kemlyn Road? All the houses behind the main stand are boarded up and there's nothing behind the Anny Road end, so why not do what was done at the Vicente Calderon and build over the Anny Road and put in a shiny new main stand? Surely that won't be as expensive as building a new stadium would it?

HALLIWELLS LAW FIRM WNET INTO ADMINISTRATION A FEW MONTHS AGO, SO THEY COULDNT PUT ANYONE INTO ADMINISTRATION. WALLY! {ed's note - that is exactly what the guy said, you might want to read it again before you call people names mate.}

ROY to have good look at 23 year old DIMITRI PAYET, he can play on both wings and an eye for goal £7m

29 Sep 2010 05:03:43
Seems like roy doesn't know his best 11 reckon we should help. how about -
reina

skrtel carragher agger

johnson meireles gerrard kuyt

cole

ngog torres

. . who knows, not my job, what would be better?
i miss roy evans has been years ssince we've played good football, at least then not winning the league was entertaining

29 Sep 2010 04:53:40
I have been reading a lot of anti roy comments from reds all over the place and think a lot of people need to get a bit of perspective. the sunderland game was the first time cole, miereles, gerrard and torres have played together. we are obviously a team in transistion and if it wasn't for 3/ 4 ridiculous personal mistakes (pepe jumping in the goal against arsenal, torres trying to mark berbatov by standing behind him combined with konchesky standing behind pepe intead of on the post and agger missing a chance jamie carragher would have buried in the last minute against sunderland) we would be ahead of manure and in fourth place. no one can blame roy for stuff like that so we have to give him more time, it is far too early to pass judgement on our season and this is true without even having to moan about the fixtures we've had so far. we have also gone back to man marking, which everyone always seemed to want, which has caused mistakes and will take a while to adapt to when we've defended zonally for so long.

i'm still being patient and confident this team will start playing good football soon, having said all that roy needs to grow some balls and realise our squad is packed full of attacking players who don't suit playing defensive football. whilst i am on one what is it with playing full backs that cannot defend and wingers that cannot attack - i get the need for overlaps but we have taken it to extreme with johnson and maxi - 1 can't defend but can attack the other can't attack but can defend - maybe they should swap positions?.

Hi Ed & All,

Assuming the takeover goes well who realistically would you like to see in our squad & club?

For me:

Mourinho in - Roy was always going to be short term.

Hyypia in - Sammy Lee to move on.

Loach as Reina backup or Gulacsi.

Taiwo in on a free plus a CB - Probably Gary Cahill / Brede Hangeland or both.

Gomez in upfront & maybe Darren Bent / Wickham if Torres moves on - Take Bojan in part exchange too if allowed (probably not).

Turan & Ashley Young in for wings.

2 new Midfielders in for central role: Banega & Senna who i reckon would be a sensation in English football even though he's in his mid 30's, McAllister like almost.
Think realistically this would all cost about £80m - £100m maximum. If we had to sell Torres that'd generate £30m+ so spending £50m - £70m to totally reshape our squad for 3 - 5 years or so would be well worth it in my opinion. We wouldn't hardly need to spend again for 3 years plus. Shelvey could replace Gerrard for example. Other prospects coming through could replace some others coming to the end of their careers. Silva & Ayala (potential), Kelly, Sterling, Pacheco, Suso etc. There'll be more coming through hopefully by then too.
Am i just mad though?
Anyone got an opinion - lets stay positive and assume the takeover WILL HAPPEN!
Ed?
Any specific players you'd like to see in Anfield next season? Realistically of course!
Cant see Augero for example!
One final question - Why was Rooney wearing gloves in Manure's last match vs Bolton?
Thought he's meant to be a tough guy - Ponce!
Its only bloody September.
Gone are the true hardman days eh?!
Cheers. {ed's note - I would rather keep Roy than give Mourinho a job at the club, it is bad enough that he is a chequebook manager but the style of play he chooses to employ is not exciting nor entertaining. I really don't want to see Jose as manager.}

Dear ed all of these false rumours are just laughable firstly hicks will sell will be forced by rbs his debt not clubs so no administration buyers just waiting to this happens so they pay lower price as for players 2 wide men needed with pace so others ie kuyth and jovanic can play in normal position and then hopefully shine to all those knocking roy he has been mainly left with rafas flops not his own give him time as for naming players waste of time only hear say just wait to they are officially named by the way board will not let yanks secure debt against club give them credit it is all near the end do not believe rubish in tabloids

Did anyone see, Suarez's assist for El Hamadoui against milan? After the take over is completed e should be the first target, he is the type of player I would like to see playing up front alongside Torres. Anyone agree?

Brian lfc fan from Dublin, it would be sensible to make it clear that nobody should listen to your advice in regards to withholding our mortgage payments in protest to H&G. RBS are a mercenary bank that invest in nuclear weapons, animal testing and other unethical industries and do not choose people of profits. If you do not pay your mortgage for 3 months that is more than enough to damage your credit file for seven years and actually will add a huge amount to the cumulative amount of interest over the term of the mortgage. So therefore cause trouble in the branches have a poo on the counter if you really want to but don't put your home at risk. .

Ed i have to blow our own trumpets here mate (apology's) But me and you have been saying for weeks that Martin Kelly is a fantastic player and should be playing in the 1st 11.

Then Aldo come's out today and steals our thunder. I think Aldo could be Macca.

IF you are Macca Aldo? You are a legend!
