Really where does Pacheco fit in to a liverpool team?

Is he really better than Steven Gerrard, Raul Meireles , Jordan Henderson , Alberto Aquilani.

I really can't see him getting anywhere near the first team. He should move to norwich city and have done with liverpool. At least norwich would respect him like a Matthew Le Tissier a go to guy. someone to build the team around and give auto place to.

He wouldnt have to work too hard to get into the norwich side.

My prediction for the first two games:

Sunderland: This is going to be a controversial game, no need to refer to the beach ball incident :P, but i expect a 2-0 win.

Arsenal: Can someone tell me when was the last time liverpool and arsenal beat each other in the premier league, i honestly do not remeber i can only remeber draws. i expect a 1-1 draw for this one {Ed002's Note - an't help but see that second goal against Sunderland as being a touch offside.}

My brother's mate works at Formby Hall and he told me weeks ago scott Dann got a membership. He said he's spoke to him a few times and finally plucked up the courage to ask him if he's comming. Dann just said he really wants the move to happen and thats all he could say.

Ed's please post on the rumours page, regarding joey barton I believe he is a great player and a big part of carrols success and could potentially be a massive player for us but does anyone on here genuinely know him? We've all read the press but I would love to know if he is misunderstood or in reality is a pelican.

I expect Aquilani, Meireles, Ayala, Insua, El Zhar, Soto, Poulsen, Ngog and Degen to all be moved on.
and Wilson to be loaned to Championship team.

Enrique and a £15m+ centre back to be brought in.

Pacheco and Cole to be given more playing time.

02 Aug 2011 23:23:31
After all his spouting off today will DB-RED be a " man " and come back on here and admit his pathetic club got well and truly stuffed tonight and conceded only 1 goal less in 1 game than we did in 3 or will the excuses of this player not playing or the kit colour or the ref or any other reason them lot come up with prevent him returning because of the humiliation of being yet another mouthy manc gobbing off as usual FACT

02 Aug 2011 23:20:35
I personally don't rate a player that has acted the way Jose Enrique has. It just seems so bitter.

He should move back to spain. Aquaman should move to Italy.

For all the money English clubs have, they waste it on people who don't want to be in this country. Well football is a working man's game. Created by the work classes as saturday offered the working classes social time.

People supported local clubs, it was the lottery ticket for the young. A way out.
Now the club supports no one and takes everything from them.

People from liverpool should play for liverpool. People from spain should play for their local team. Lets bring some balance back to the game. Give the position to Robinson.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely. And that Kenny Dalglish can piss off back to Scotland too. This is a local club for local people.

EXCLUSIVE: Council leader throws Liverpool new stadium lifeline
Published 22:50 02/08/11 By David Maddock Recommend

City Council leader Joe Anderson is ready to offer Liverpool a lifeline, as the club's future hangs in the balance.

Plans to dramatically increase crowd capacity are under serious threat because of planning issues, and deadlines for taking up the lease on building land.

Liverpool set for war with council over Anfield

Club officials are acutely aware the gap between themselves and Manchester United is growing ever wider, because of their bitter rival's massive attendance advantage on matchday, especially in the corporate area.

If that gap isn't closed soon, then Liverpool fear they will lose their status as a world leader in the sport, and be forever relegated to the second tier of the game.

The club has been feverishly exploring two opposing options, on whether to redevelop Anfield or build a new stadium on nearby Stanley Park.

But with a deadline soon to run out on the lease over the park, and Liverpool no nearer to resolving finance issues relating to the two projects, they are now faced with the danger of doing neither and falling behind.

Anderson though, has pledged to offer every help possible to the club to achieve their aim of increasing capacity, to allow them to remain amongst the elite of world football.

The council recognise the business advantage such a status brings to the city, and the leader insisted that, despite claims from disgruntled fans' groups, he has absolutely no agenda against either football club in the city.

"We realise the issue over the lease is a difficult one for the football club, and we have already extended the deadline for a period of six months to allow time to explore all options, " he explained.

"What we can't do is give an open cheque and an open guarantee, because ultimately while we have a responsibility to the club and the fans, we also have a responsibility to the people in the Anfield area, who have been living in squalor for 10 years.

"But we recognise there are new owners who have to explore all decisions, and if they can demonstrate there is a real need for more time to make that decision, then we are prepared to extend the deadline further.

"From our point of view we have always had a good relationship with the club, and we'll bend over backwards to do whatever we can to support the decision they make."

It is a complicated issue that has come down to something of a stand off between the club and the council over the opposing plans to develop Anfield or build a new stadium.

Some fans have expressed fears the leader has an agenda to build a shared stadium on dock development land in the city, but Anderson has dismissed that idea as "absolute nonsense".

The reality is actually very different. Liverpool were leaning towards building a new stadium on Stanley Park, but have so far been unable to secure the naming rights for the new ground that would provide sufficient funds to get it built.

If they take on the lease on the land and then don't build, it will be a crippling future cost that would prove seriously damaging.

But with the September deadline looming over the lease, if they don't take up the right to develop the land, they will be left with only the chance to expand the Anfield stadium and that is fraught with danger.

Central government planning controls which have nothing to do with the local council would most likely lead to a lengthy enquiry that would delay development, and could prevent it altogether.

As one club official admitted, there is now a very real danger of Liverpool being forced to remain with their current 45,000 capacity, which would damage the club and the local economy.

LFC is a prize asset to the council, because they are one of the few world-leading businesses in the area, and that is why Anderson is determined to offer support.

But he insisted Liverpool must demonstrate progress in their decision over the future, whether that means redeveloping Anfield or building a new stadium.

"I am really disappointed with what some people have been claiming, because it is a load of tripe. Any decision over a shared stadium is a decision for the two football clubs, and nothing to do with us, " Anderson added.

"Likewise, we can't simply grant compulsory purchase orders that will allow houses next to Anfield to be knocked down to increase the stadium capacity. There are central government guidelines, and there has to be a demonstrable regeneration of the area.

"A bigger stadium on its own doesn't regenerate the area, so we have work with the club to ensure the criteria is met. And we are not just working with Liverpool. We are speaking with Everton too on an almost weekly basis about their plans for relocation.

"In the end, we will do all we can to help Liverpool, because they are an important business element of the city. But we have to protect to residents of the area too."

Ideally, Liverpool would like more time to explore the option of increasing capacity at Anfield, but that still seems a difficult option, and their most likely course is to build a new stadium.

That though, would be dependent on getting the financial backing a naming rights deal would provide, and again, the club needs time for that to happen.

Anderson's offer yesterday, which he exclusively revealed to the Mirror, will ease the pressure on the club, but they know they still face a huge milestone in the club's history, as they attempt to secure their future amongst the world elite.

i really do hope it isnt true that gerrard's career is in the balance. not for out sakes, but more for him. he's stuck with us through thick and thin when it could've been so easy for him to leave. he's one of the greatest ever players to grace the planet and i personally think he deserves at least 1 pl title in his footballing career. hopefully he'll still be around for a good 3-4 years and fingers crossed we can win the league in that time, and he can lift the trophy that he truly deserves.

Is this some sort of ploy to get your rubbish posted?}

does anyone feel there might be a big transfer on the cards or will all our dealings will be done this week.i dont know myself, dont really think anyone does, but if we sign a c.b. and a l.b. i will be more than happy with the squad.whats everyone think, i know deep down most of us would love to see a mata type player in as well, but maybe we have enough as it is.......lfc

Enrique is not a very good defender so why are we after him? I am a LFC fan but live in the North East and go to St James quite often. He was an average play 2 years ago and a good player in the championship. He is slow and to the end of last season had the Toon injury curse. I for one am not sure why we want him. Ed can you shed any light?
Wato {Ed002's Note - Well other folks see it diffrently.}

02 Aug 2011 22:20:07
Hello eds, is it true that Javanovic has signed for Anderlect? is there any interest in any of our other players we're trying to off load Also do you think we're after a r/w? as much as I love Dirk, he's not a winger Thanks for all your hard work guys banjo boy {Ed002's Note - It is in hand; some; doubtful.}

02 Aug 2011 22:16:21
Hi Ed's

Heard Gerrard is quite ill, hope not, do you know any more?

02 Aug 2011 21:32:05
Hi, i am a Livepool fan from Greece and i'd like to set some things straight. 1st of all we have to get rid of players like jovanovic, el zahr(was not good enough even to play in my supported team in greece PAOK FC), kyrgiakos(please we are Liverpool), degen etc.
I dont want to blame someone(dont knowing the transfer budgets of last seasons) but they were awful choises.
2nd-dont expect signings from abroad especially players without experience in the PL.
3rd-I believe that the next transfer moves will depend on the teams system which i see more possible a 4-1-3-2 with lucas on the 1 and downing-meireles-kuyt on the 3 and caroll-suarez up front.Yes i think meireles is the first choice now Gerrard is still injured.
So i expect an LB and a CB surrely to come, we just waiting to lower the prices for all enrique, dann, cahill.
I wouldn't be supriced to bring in all 3 if the price is right. I also expect one more signing up front which can play in at least 2 positions but dont know who...just my thoughts...please reply

02 Aug 2011 21:20:40
hi ed, do u think there will be any anouncements soon because the lfc website have closed the comment boxes when we are signing someone? {Ed002's Note - I can feel the excitement ....}

02 Aug 2011 21:16:47
Is it true aquilani faked injury to miss training when he was earlier playing for the reds. I remember benitez hinted at it once and if true no wonder there is no fight to keep him at Liverpool. {Ed002's Note - I don't know if he did but sertainly a couple of Eds said there were concerns.}

02 Aug 2011 21:07:42
hey Eds, have you guys actually made a man utd banter page because they always seem to be on ours.

Liverpool will sign cissocho , shawcross, and dann
and that will be that for this transfer window.

02 Aug 2011 20:49:54
I am going to get slated for saying this but the "Aquilani must stay" brigade are really annoying me. Fair enough he is a good player with great ability but why cant ye all see as the eds have been saying that the player is desperate to return to Italy, why keep a player who doesn't want to be there? We all know he has nothing against Liverpool its just he doesn't want to play in England, simple as. What we must do and what the club is trying to do is to get the player back to Italy in an agreement that suits everybody. This hasn't happened yet but I am convinced it will by the close of the window and especially now with the reported interest of Milan. I believe the club must do a permanent deal as a loan would make no sense whatsoever and would result in a similar situation again next summer and looks like we will settle for around 8 million pounds which I consider to be a bit miserly but if the Liverpool hierarchy feel that that is the best for all concerned then I am fine with that. I can't understand all the fuss and furore this entire Aquilani thing has created when I believe a far better player in the shape of Raul Meireles is slipping out of our grasp. At the end of the day Aquilani does not want to play in the Premier League, simple as. Rant over.
p.s Liverpool will sign Dann and Enrique in this window.

Not a rumour as such, but more of a 'prediction' maybe.

Heard a bit lately about us trying to sign Lennon. I've also heard rumours of us being interested in Niko Kranjkar and Defoe .

If Spurs do sell Modric, I wouldn't be surprised if they came in with an offer for Meireles.

Could we possibly see a player plus cash deal?

This is all hypothetical of course, I just wanted to share my thoughts :)

jovanovic is off the wage bill we now have around 70 000 a week off it someone must be coming in soon most likely before the valencia game. who do u think will come in?

02 Aug 2011 20:38:08
Eds,

So who do you guys see as the ideal players to come in before the window shuts? Of course taking into consideration we do indeed get rid of the "deadwood".

Matty08 {Ed002's Note - I am afraid I cannot get drawn in to such discussion without some grief.}

02 Aug 2011 20:33:36
do you know if lucas is available for the first game v sunderland? {Ed002's Note - He will be.}

02 Aug 2011 20:29:59
Is raul Meireles defianately leaving us -? He hasn't featured much and seemed deflated when he was - is it the player wanting to leave or club looking to offload / please post on questions 1

02 Aug 2011 20:16:16
Carroll does look fitter than he previously did. He is doing what is expected of him (imo). Trying to knock crosses down to other players & he got on the score sheet. Obviously, Suarez will give us more options & confidence because I'm sure he'll be at the heart of everything. He'll benefit from all of the service just as much as Carroll. I think Hendo had a good game & Downing did what was expected of him. Lucas will also make us better defensively

any chance of getting him?

does anyone else here think ticket exchange is unfair. you get 95% of value of ticket. The guy buying it pays full price.

The club has already sold it, but makes another 5% if you can't make it to the game. ??

less than 12months. tick tock. PSG want him, but for free.

is it true that we've agreed a fee of 6 million for Jose Enrique?
But then it could rise to 10 million?

Please post in rumours

Why all the desperation for any more signings?

Pepe

Kelly. Skrtel. Aggrer. Carra

Lucas. Stevie. Adam

Suarez. Sterling

Carroll

That'd be my starting lineup, YES Cahill, Enrique, Dann and every other player in the world we've been linked with would be additions but we've got enough to compete for the title this season.

Found this old quote from a Guardian interview with Juan Mata: "I remember liking Arsenal with Dennis Bergkamp. That was a great team." Does this make him an Arsenal fan? He does say that Pepe Reina is the nicest guy in football though.

with talk of joey barton possibly coming to liverpool, i think he could be a good signing and would add quality to the depth we have. especially if aquillani leaves and the possible departure of merieles.

didnt suarez come with baggage? as did a certain mr bellamy if i am not mistaken. lets not be hasty to judge a player just because he comes with a bit of a reputation.

i dont think we should take barton on even if its for nout but i do like his passion and dont agree the way newcastle have treated him and as from round the newcastle area they are furious with barton being dropped like tht and the carroll money not being spent think ourselves lucky weve got owners tht actually spend instead of tht greedy fat tw*t my ideal playmaker would ave to be marko marin

Our previous owners have left a huge mess at Liverpool. What's happening now is we are first of all making a competitive squad which can play weeks in and out without putting the pressure on youngsters to get into first team prematurely. After we have shifted the fringe players and get ourselves a decent squad then only these so called Marquee signings will happen as they need big pay packet and huge transfer fees.
So IMHO Liverpool is on right track and will take time to reach the desirable destination. I know fans are getting impatient on not getting some big names to cheer up but if King Kenny has the magic he used in second half of last season i think top four is is achievable.
Lets just be patient with the club and see where we are in January. {Ed002's Note - POst of the day - someone who recognises responsible ownership.}

Am I right in thinking that we have now made 5 bids on 5 different defenders, or are some people telling porkies? I would have thought that Dann is the 1st option, to sign before the Sunderland game. Also, yes we have a shocking goals against tally at the moment but we are missing Lucas who does a lot of work in front of the defence so let's not worry to much

Pre-seasons mean nothing mate, i'll tell you a little story of my exploits, at the weekend.

I went to a stag party in Bradford. And who should i bump into, but non other than Dynamo. I asked him "Hey Dynamo, you say that nothing is impossible. But could you make Michael Carrick, play a forward pass?"

He replied instantly "I'm good but not that f*cking good. Now pick a card or f*ck off" Then he done a Fergie offshore bank account trick and disappeared, into thin air.

Barton, interesting, , , , i think he is definatley a icking time bomb, but what passion whilst holding on to that temper,

if aqua man going, pull out all the stops for this deal to happen, and if the jovanovic deal goes through, there is the wages available.

seriously kk and dc, sign him.

Gerson Magrao.
Anyone know anything about him?
The Brazilian Dynamo Kiev left back has been linked with a move to Liverpool, he is rated at around £5mil.
He could be the answer to our left back problem.

Really disappointed in Jay Spearing this pre-season.I was expecting him to pick up the gauntlet, of the new arrivals and fight to keep hold of a midfield place.But I think he has excepted that he will be on his way out, that is if pre- season games are to go by.My fears of Adam not tracking back were so evident last night too.Henderson was linking up with Downing was good to see.Carra, once again showed that time stands still for no one.

I was just looking at the odds wich club scott dann is now favorite to sign for its now arsenal who are front runners I know they have bid for jagielka but are they seriously interested in dann I would have thought they would be the team that got cahill but now theyve bid for jagielka and are favourites to sign dann are arsenal really interested in dann and we werent even on the page for odds on barton so if anyone knows anything about barton get to the bookies we must be bigger odds than 33 to 1

i think liverpool should use gerrard as a super sub this year.they should start of with adam and meireles in the middle and bring stevie on in or around in the 70min so he wil be fresh and he wil be able to change the game

02 Aug 2011 17:47:53
Aquilani won't stay that is fairly obvious. His agent has been pimping him out left right and centre for months now. I must say that his agent is probably the most contentious bloody person in football at the monent, well Sepp Blatter aside.

I know some of you are annoyed at the situation judging on the class that Aquilani has shown in pre season and from my point of view in his first season with us. But at the end of the day it's just not happened so we have to deal with it and move on. I really don't know why the player joined in the first place, I suppose the loaning out to Juve as well as his inability to be guaranteed regular first team football has convinced him to go.

On a final note the Ed's don't deserve constant questioning on why he's leaving it's the players decision and if he could have avoided coming back for pre season and stayed in Italy then he would have.

Let's all move on and support the players we have.

cole poulsen maxi should all leave before aqua/meirrels leave.we might not the get the player we want this window.we need to defenders and a striker.
i know the wagebill is a important issue, but not getting into the cl next season will cost more.
John henry needs to realise that we didnt buy any good player in 3 years and we lost alot of quality.
we had torres(chelsea)alonso arbeloa)and a fit gerrard.the only player we bought is suarez, all the others need time.we need 2 more players that will get into the team and make a difference.our left side has been a problem for years now, dont understand why we bought all these midfielders and star complaining about the wage bill.we should have bought defenders first.
anyway i am very worried about our defence.with suarez and gerrard back we are able to hurt any team.but we need a strong defence with pace that can handle counters.

Quality ratings so far this season

Agger = 7.5
Aquilani 7
Downing 7
Maxi 6.5
Flanno = 6.5
Kuyt 6.5
Carragher = 6
Kelly = 6
Robinson 6
Henderson 6
Carroll 6
Cole- 6
Johnson = 5.5
Ngog 5.5
Adam 5.5
Spearing 5.5
Soto = 5
Poulsen 5

I would hope Lucas comes in and gives a solid 7 as he did last season and Suarez at least an 8. Everyone else bar Poulsen, Soto, and Ngog can all up their game. For most it's just a case of fitness especially Johnson, Kuyt, Adam, Carra and Carroll who all seem way off match fit.

hey EDS what do you think of getting Joey Barton he's good mates with Gerrard and Carroll and could provide service for Andy. Arsenal and United are linked to him so why not get him before they do. (he's free) {Ed010's Note - refer to archives}

Hi ed, is there any interest in odemwingie as back up striker? {Ed010's Note - if you mean the chap that plays for WBA he is nearly 30 i doubt he is in lfc plans}

Good aternoon all.

Just wanrt to say, there is more chance of the Pope being present at Southport on the 12th of July next year and even more chance this year, than Joey Barton ever wearin a Red shirt. All this talk by his agent claiming to be inundated by clubs requiring his signature. What a f...ing big load of s**te.

Who in the right mind wants a complete headcase in their set up. Bartons agents s**tting himself incase he can't find him anything. Mad joey will hunt him down and do him in lar.

Liverpool FC are trying the very best to regain the fnatastic reutation of this great club after those laughing stock we became under the ownership of those two Muppets who;s names don't deserve a mention.So do you think we let Joey Barton tarnish our reputaton?

We will make 2 or 3 more signings very soon and Scott Dann will be in a Red shirt in time for the first game of the season. I am convinced there are more departures than people think.

Forget the pre -season games We will do much better than last season and qualify for the C.L.

ED, which of the Liverpool squad players do you expect to be either sold to another club or loaned out before the start of the 20112012 Premiership season? Do you think that there will be a signing that is completely of everyone's rador, eg: a marquee signing?

{Ed010's Note - this has been talked about at length refer to previous posts in archives}

I've watched every pre-season game so far and on the whole we have been pretty poor.The stand out player for me has been Aquillani, I know we are intent on selling him but I think he should stay.Last night again he changed the game, on what I've seen I am very worried as to our hopes this season.Over 45 yrs a supporter but I cant see us winning anything unless we get two class defenders and another CF.I'm not convinced by Henderson so far he looks lost.Even KK expression last night was one of despair at times.I really hope I'm wrong.

02 Aug 2011 15:23:03
i for one am glad that we have had this pre-season games, it shows us that we need to strenghten in a couple of areas.kk knows this and he will buy a couple of players for this.with these matches you could see a few players need to come up to match-shapness and a few need to get fitter.the new players will take a little bit of time geting used to new team mates etc.with the young players coming into the side we have 2 in sterling and coady who will play some games this season, so thats like 2 new signing in itself.with suarez and stevie and others back soon, its only going to get better.big andy-no one needs to worry about, because on his day he can be unplayable.young adam morgan could be brought into the first team squad set-up as well this season, hes a natural goalscorer.king kenny will have everything in place for the kickoff, dont forget pre-season is used to iron-out any issues with team-play etc.so dont be too down on these results, we will move up a few gears and be ready.think if kk had been in from the start last season, if we get a good start who knows what we could do....up the pool.........lfc.

My view on the game yesterday

1) livid as I don't have ESPN and at 8:58 when I turned on LFC.TV the guy on this is anfield told me the score

2) Downing was great, Henderson and Adam were also good but Downing was the best of them

3) Spearing was at fault for first goal after leaving the man he was marking to run freely after he passed, love the guy but not sure hes at our level YET

4) Agger god love him if only he could stay fit

5) Robinson did well but Johnson was bad but coming back from injury on his first game so ill let him off

6) with Downing playing on't right first half made me think we may still be in for another winger but time will tell

7) not bothered by the score just happy to see the closest we could have too our team vs Sunderland at the moment -Mc

Liverpool will have to move quick if they want Dann. The player's first choice was always Liverpool but his head has most definitely been turned by interest shown from both Chelsea and Arsenal with the Gunners very keen and expected to make a bid. Liverpool's lack of movement for the defender has made him question if he wants to come to Anfield. Jose Enrique is the man charged with solving Liverpool's left back problems.

Where are these Enrique fee agreed rumours coming from? According to Twitter, the report says that they have had a fee agreed from an unknown club?

02 Aug 2011 15:04:00
Has there been a promise that the money received from deals like aquaman and others will be invested back into players?

if not i do worry about our lack of creativity in middle of the park especially if as reported Gerrard will be missing for parts of the season again, aquaman, cole both targets to, in my opinion we need more creative players like aqua and not selling them

02 Aug 2011 15:03:40
Hi ed, whats the situation with maxi, he said he wants to leave and he wasnt even included in the squad yesterday and i think other pre season games aswell? {Ed010's Note - Not everyone can be included in the squad or starting 11}

Well yesterday I posted my match day report but it didn't make it on partially because my internet was pretty meh.

3-3 with Valerrenga was I suppose another disappointing result on paper but the performance second half was great.

2-0 down because of IMO bad refereeing, I don't believe it was a penalty but I am not a professional referee but nonetheless we had a far stronger team than other friendlies and the players looked sharp.

Players who featured include Agger, Reina, Carra, Carroll, Adam, Downing, Hendo, Kuyt, Kelly, Johnson, Aquaman, Robbo and others; there was no shop window but the 1st team squad.

It was a very good performance fitness, sharpness and togetherness wise. The 3 goals are again a disapointment but explainable; the penalty IMO wasn't and the frst goal was avoidable bar terrible defending Carra and Johnson please stand up. The 3rd goal was unfortunate as Reina had literally no chance.

The two Agger goals were from Aquaman corners and were very decent headers against a pretty burley Norwegian team. They both came from Aquilani strikes which the keeper could only parry; once again the In demand midfielder looked annoyingly impressive especially his range of passing and delivery. Adam is thrown around as the 'Next Xabi' compared to Aquaman who is up there with Xabi's passing, shooting and all round game, disapointing seeing as he doesn't wear the shirt with as much pride.

The Andy Carroll goal was one for a soon to be huge collection once hopes. Downing with a perfectly flighted cross to Carroll to score; not with his head but his swing with the right boot, it wasn;t the cleanest of strikes but it was a very positive sign for the future.

My man of the match has to be Agger, he showed his class today and what we have missed dearly, a Centre Back who gets forward and plays it out of defence; if he can stay fit then the defence will be great and our play style will be far more elegant, I remember his back heel in the Channel 5 cup and his performance today showed his class; however his injury record is on par with Torres, Hargreaves and Owen.

I won't be doing a report next week or the Sunderland game because I am on holiday and the place I'm staying has no Internet; see everyone for Arsenal vs Liverpool on the 20th of August at the Emirates.

The Next ;)

02 Aug 2011 15:26:55
Aquilani should be given a chance, he didnt seen that unhappy nearly scoring 2 scorchers last night. The insult is £8.7 million, I cant believe people don't want to pay it, some of the worst premiership players go for a lot more than that. {Ed010's Note - Kenny has been around longer than just his time as manager, maybe he knows things we do not? Personally I love aquilani as a player. but it seems he is not in lfc plans}

02 Aug 2011 15:02:01
jeffren to sporting for 5mil euro thts a joke what we playing at its a bargain and aquillani are best player in pre season for 10mil euro to milan possibly what is seriously going on

02 Aug 2011 14:38:56
Cann someone please explain how any 1 can take caught offside seriously just read that we have been snubbed by jeffren for sporting lisbon now im not a hundred percent but im very sure we didnt put a bid in for him if im wrong correct me but the so called liverpool fnas are going on on there like weve missed out on messi lol an that if rafa had been in charge he would have come im sure there right if rafa had been in charge we probably would have got him then in 3 year we would be mentioning him as deadwood we were trying to get rid of like the ones we got now I mean jeffrens ok not good enough for our firts team an deffinately not the next messi I dont no why I even look on caught offside. Does any one no if they have ever predicted anything right before any other site or has it always been re hashes of other stories on the net. Giblet {Ed001's Note - to be fair they don't just do rehashes of other stories on the net. They also pay teenagers to make up stories as well.}

02 Aug 2011 14:35:10
just wondering ed, lots of rumours flying around most of which are false in my opinion. personally i would love us to sign a couple of defenders and then i would view it as a highly successful summer (as long as we get rid of the so called deadwood). but do you realistically think we will sign anyone else, or do you think we are gunna use what we've got? {Ed001's Note - the intention is to buy defenders, but we do need to clear some space in the squad.}

02 Aug 2011 14:32:19
I don't think anybody can deny that pre-season has not gone as well we would have hoped, but we can't forget that across the park, we have had 2 new signings in Henderson and Adam, who will need time to gel and fit into the pattern of play.

Whilst I am not totally convinced about Carroll as yet, I do think he was totally isolated in the first half and ended up chasing shadows. Second half, with Henderson pushed on in support he looked far more effective and was in position far more often to challenge for crosses. When Suarez is buzzing around him pulling defenders all over the park, then I suspect we may see the best of him.

Downing looked pretty sharp, but I think needs to stay on the left and hit the by-line rather than cutting inside from the right which narrows us across the park as the midfield is set up to be far more fluid at the moment.

Adam - we all know he can pass, but a couple of times last night, he was caught ahead of play and struggled to drop back in. His lack of pace was also exposed and he ended up giving away a few silly free kicks.

Overall I think the team isn't that far away - there are some promising signs in patches. We just need the spark and movement that Suarez brings and we will look far more potent up front.

Also, those Lucas haters out there - yes, he is not the complete midfield player as yet, but what he does is allow others to play and express themselves. He has improved every year and we will see his true value to the team this year.

Let's just get behind the lads and back them rather than worry too much about preseason results. The squad is far stronger than this time last year, KK is a top class man manager and Clarke is a proven coach and we have one of the best academy set ups in the world. This year is all about top 4 - if we get a crack at the title great, if not CL will do. We are on the right road and I am far more confident that we are on the right track than I have been in years.

Sorry for the long post

02 Aug 2011 14:21:06
Just wanted to say that watching these pre season games has made me realise how we still need to sign a creative player Our squad and first team is much stronger than last season, however, we are missing that one player who has that WOW factor. Suarez has it, but thats why we are still a one man team so to say (our captain is injured a lot). I know i sound negative but surely there is another skillfull player out there who will give us that extra edge, beat 2, 3 players, do the fancy tricks, create something out of nothing and just strike fear in the opponents when running at them (its entertainment too which is always good for the morale of the fans). ED CAN YOU THINK OF ANY PLAYERS WHO MIGHT FIT THIS MOULD AND BE AVAILABLE?...Moving on we defo need to keep hold of Aqua man I have always rated him and it would be a big loss to let him go. we paid good money for him, why not utilise him?

LFC786 {Ed001's Note - why do you feel the need for so many? Barca are the best team in Europe right now and they only have Messi and Iniesta to provide it.}

Vs. Valencia
=========

I watched Valencia tear Sporting Lisbon apart over the weekend. Mata featured, but this post is not about him. They will be a very good test for us.

If I am correct, this will be our last game before Sunderland. What will our team be against Valencia?

All supporters are wondering the same thing especially considering the disappointing results in the friendlies. I am very nervous.

02 Aug 2011 14:03:44
i really dont know why we dont sign another winger for the right side, seriously if we got either bastos, adam johnson, mata or sturridge we would of easily challenged for the league, i think we need one more player that has skill and creativity like a suarez type to be complete {Ed001's Note - so you want another winger for the right side then list a bunch of left sided players?}

Many fans argue that Aquilani has not got the passion for the club and wants to leave. Here is the answer to everyone.

To question his real passion for Liverpool after what he has been through would be a serious injustice. While he often talked about his desire of scoring in front of the Kop; Aquilani's actions would speak louder than any words when he struck a brilliant goal from Benayoun's ball versus Atletico Madrid in Europa League semis in 2010.

Momentarily stunned after his tie-leveling strike, he stumbled and looked back at Gerrard before tearing to the corner flag screaming his lungs out with the ecstatic Stevie G rushing to embrace him. The tears of joy that fell from Aquilani's face as his team-mates celebrated with him will surely be remembered by the Kop. Such uncontrolled happiness is not borne of mere monetary hunger.

Returning to Liverpool this summer after a year during which his continuous refrain was that he would be happy to return to Anfield once his loan spell with Juventus completed, Aquilani has had to come face-to-face with the new owner of his jersey, Raul Meireles. For any footballer, losing a jersey number is a massive slap on his face.

Witnessing new signings Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam being praised by club management and mind says that a manager always prefers his own signings. Both signings assigned squad numbers while Aquilani got whichever spare jersey is available can't be pleasant for the man who swallowed his pride and publicly stated that he returned to Anfield "with great enthusiasm".

Add hostile fans calling the "disloyal foreigner" to be shipped out into the picture, and you understand the difficulty he finds himself in.

The club's pre-season form has been shaky, but the one constant has been the sheer class of Aquilani. The Little Prince adds so many arrows to the Liverpool quiver, and has arguably been the best player in every match thus far. Against Valarenga his value was confirmed when he instigated a comeback and saved Liverpool and borught KING some serious blushes. He was given mere 10 minutes on the field and still was the Man of the Match on the day.

Still Kennly Dalgish did not even mention his contribution at all. When he pulled the strings against Guangdong and the Malaysia XI, Dalglish and Steve Clarke instead singled out Charlie Adam for praise, who had reasonable games on both occasions, but came nowhere near matching Aquilani's brilliance on the field. Again against Valarenga, not even a match-saving cameo can provoke appreciate public pat on the back from his boss {Ed001's Note - this is pure fantasy nonsense, what continous refrain?}

02 Aug 2011 13:55:53
KK needs to start shifting some of this dead wood before its to late. lets get rid of the likes of Meireles, Spearing, Poulson, Kelly, Lucas, Maxi, insua and Kuyt. I am however of the opinion that Aqua has got something and should be given a go, would have him over henderson any day

Has any of the Eds got any information on the progress of Bueno's trial. E.G) How did he do? Has he had his trial yet? and/or when does it end?

Also to follow fans: Is anybody else concerned with the poor pre-season start - I'm personally concerned by it because winning pre-season games puts you in the winning mentality...Losing these games...well you get the picture...

Cheers,

RobbehLFC. {Ed001's Note - I didn't think his trial started for another week or so yet.}

ed, is the Liverpool site the most used site out of them all? {Ed002's Note - Club site, yes. By a long way over probably Rangers, Manchester United and Arsenal. The main transfer page attracts a lot of posts but a much higher proportion of "junk" posts.}

so fed up of people banging on about how aquilani should stay.iv bin a fan of his since before his liverpool days and hes a talented player but hes soft and is great when he has time on the ball, problem is the premiership is the most physical league around and the tempo is too quick(unlike italy and pre season friendlies where aquilani has done well).hes also trying his best to get a move and the other major problem is he doesnt want to play for liverpool.so please people stop saying we should keep him, we should just let him go and wish him all the best.

I would still like to see Juan Mata at Liverpool.

I am concerned that Carroll is not showing any kind of form. For £35 million ??

02 Aug 2011 13:34:18
Ed's what do you think about Villareal's Wakaso. . .Very young, Fast, Physical with a venomous strike, Is he better than Henderson?We lack physicality, I hope Cissokho ends up aj anfield. {Ed001's Note - he plays a different position to Henderson.}

Aron Lennon is never going to happen, please people stop posting... for he love of god its been 2 years

02 Aug 2011 13:33:05
Without Aqua, Raul, Stevie and Suarez we seriously lack cutting edge, decent timing / weight of final pass and fundamentally effective creativity through the middle.

Adam and Henderson are not quite gelling at this moment, hopefully they develop an understanding in the coming games but it is clear that without our main creative players we will most likely struggle through the middle.

Having said that the creativity can come from the likes of Maxi, Downing and Kuyt in the wide positions so we do have that but it would have been nice to start the season with a full squad as we would have been far more potent as an attacking force throughout the side.

Will they replace Carragher or will they play with carra

02 Aug 2011 13:16:45
I personally think Barton would be a good addition to the Liverpool team, and would fill that right hand spot well. If he put in the performances he has for Newcastle there, it would be perfect ammunition for Carroll. Downing on the left, Barton on the right.

For those of you saying he's thug...yep...he was a complete an utter tw@t earlier in his career, lets be fair, but he's still a good player and he does seem to have taken his life in check and taken responsibility for his actions.

Yeh he has an edge...but he also has ability.

On a free...50 odd grand a week....proven premiership quality....could surprise a few doubters in red.

Any news on Adam Johnson? Liverpool look unbalanced with only one winger. Would love to see him in a Liverpool jersey If not Johnson are there any other wingers that might be joining LFC?

02 Aug 2011 13:10:54
Dont worry fellow liverpool fans all these pre season loses and all the goals we have conceded are just a 'smokescreen' for when the season ahead were we will take the league by storm

02 Aug 2011 13:08:20
First post: surely Barton in, mereles out plus £££ for a top quality wide right/winger makes sense. If we need to sell to bring in more quality? The defense needs attentionand I'd be happy with any of the CB/LB linked. BUT....... With another quality winger we'd be a reall threat
Can't think of a better way to drain the battery on my phone. I love this site. Thanks. Please post.

02 Aug 2011 13:04:25
would be happy to see Ryan Shawcross and Jose Enrique come in :) i think we would be complete then :) although i wouldnt mind us buying another good attacker, like Adam Johnson or Marko Marin, someone who is very good and would fit in well, also wouldnt break the bank :) what do you think ed? {Ed002's Note - Well you never know.}

02 Aug 2011 12:56:26
Liverpool are one of 4 clubs that have shown interest in Joey Barton prior to his placing on the transfer list. If Liverpool can offload the likes of Poulson, Meireles/Aquilani. Freeing up wages of around £160000pw wages. Then getting Barton on around £50000pw would be good business. Plus he's a Scouser, he's good friends with Gerrard and Carra, and knows what Liverpool are about. Arsenal may go for him if they sell Fabregas.
Red Lenny
Since when is joey Barton mates with Ste gerrard ?? Plus no for a fact he, s not mates with Jamie coz am a lifelong friend an have been since we was 4 see him nearly everyday so stop chatting S£IT Ye clown

Joey Barton back in liverpool around his family and old friends and not to mention enemies and associates would be catastrophic...let some other club pay his wages no ours

02 Aug 2011 12:43:14
Ed, am I right in thinking that liverpool are looking for an attacking midfielder/ striker? Because we are in desperate need for some creativity up front judging by these pre season games without suarez. Cheers pal

ToonRed {Ed002's Note - You mean of the Honda ilk? Perhaps. However, it seems more likely that a centre back remains first on the list.}

02 Aug 2011 11:16:08
Hi Ed001,

Just thought I would get a couple of things of my chest, I quote 'Cahill is just a hoofer, Dann is a far better player than him' which begs the question have you even watched Gary Cahill? I have a lot of time for Dann as he is in that Carragher, Terry, Puyol mould of being a leader of the defence, telling the back 4 line where they should be whether it is deep of high, and generally have these players have great positioning as they lack genuine pace. Moving on to your statement of regarding Cahill, I was one of the people who thought we should have signed him last season, but admitting that it was more MOTD fever then what I genuinely knew about his defensive play, so I made an effort to watch all his live games this season (SS, ESPN) and I can confidently tell you he is definitely not a hoofer, that really is a ludicrous statement as Cahill is the epitome of a 'cultured' centre back, people seem to think just because he plays for Bolton automatically his first action in defence is to 'hoof' it ala Carragher But this could not be far from the truth, even in some cases it may get him in trouble he ALWAYS tries to play from the back and has the quality to. Although people are hell-bent on comparing him to Terry due to his body shape and colour of his skin, he is much more a carbon copy of Rio Ferdinand. Cahill has his weak points much the same as Ferdinand IMO as they both lack that leadership quality, and the ability to stand up when the team needs them most. Cahill is a MUCH better football playing centre back then Dann, Dann is the one of the two you would more likely call a 'hoofer' but I think Dann is the better and RELIABLE defender and is a much better footballer than a 'hoofer', but isn't even in the same league as Cahill when it comes to playing the ball from the back as Cahill is more like a midfielder than a defender on the ball, it is impossible to say who is the better player as they both offer much different things. So please ed001 before slating a guy, please make a concerted effort to watch him first.

Having said that if you was to ask me who Liverpool need right now, it would be Dann as Carra is on his way down and doesn't have too many season left, Dann is the type of defender that commands the respect of the rest of the defence ala Carra.
Although if were brought both, it would be a dream centre back partnership IMO along with Agger. This would go some way to the good old days at Liverpool of GREAT centre backs ala Hughes, Hansen, Thompson, Lawrenson, Yeats.

Jimmy YNWA {Ed001's Note - I am sorry but you were clearly not watching Cahill at all. His first reaction on receiving the ball, 99 times out of 100, is to boot it at Kevin Davies. I can't even call it hoofing it to, because it is definitely just lumped in Davies' general direction in the hope he can do something with it. Before you start saying anything, I have watched him since he was a kid in the youth teams and he has always looked to lump it first.}

agger do do do 2 goals from the back if you pleas, he's
the best centre back in the league, with his left then his right he's so far in front he's out of sight, agger do do do... ha ha

with another cb in hypia mould are defense will be class.Keep the faith.

I think KK should give Aquilani a chance. He has looked good in pre season, comfortable and composed on the ball. I think he could be a great squad player especially with injury concerns over Gerrard. On that note, now that he is on a free, I reckon Barton is defo worth a gamble, I like most Reds don't like him, but as a player, I do think he could give us that Sounsess like steel in midfield.

Can people please get this into their thick heads,
KK would like Aquaman to stay but he wants to go

a masterstroke?

kenny and DC bidding for Jones knowing if the Mancs got him, then shawcross (another young british target) could be available.

knowing mancs having first refusal on him but... also knowing the mancs having already shelved out the pounds for Jones would mean shawcross could be a potential target with Mancs having reduced limited pulling power.

a long stretch i know - but shawcross may well a cheaper and better option then jones..

thoughts very welcome.

Also, can we stop the so called Reds fans getting on the back of KK and DC already. If you are true reds, then you know to support through thick and thin, so trust the King and save negative comments for other web sites.

Finally a wish list that could really see us challenge for the title

CB - Dann and Cahill
MF - Barton and A Jonhson

IMO the best thing to come out of last nights performance was undoubtably daniel agger and thats not just due to the fact he got on the score sheet twice which is an added bonus, he made sum excellent runs going forward and strikes, performed well in defence ok we conceded three goals but first two was down glens right hand side not blamin him but mayb due to lack off games, keep agger fit n we have a fantastic centre back

Here's a tip to become popular on this forum. One dont sign if you dont play centre half and are 6.3 or taller. Doesn't matter what you do, defo dont score goals like Crouch never, it'll make you even more unpopular. Dont jump like Crouch, because if someone does beat you in the air its because they fouled you not out jumped you. And defo dont score any screamers from outside the box like Crouch because you should be in the box fouling someone, how dare you lamp one in from 20 yards plus . How to become popular. Sign for 20mil as Xabi's replacement, sign crooked with a wage packet as big if not bigger then Xabi's. Get fit then do just enough to get loaned out to an Italian club for the season. They dont want you after 30 plus league starts so come back to were they'll continue to pay that fat pay packet. Never say a nice thing about the club and only perform when you know the camera's are watching to get away from Liverpool but try then to still top up your wages by making the first year of your escape plan another loan. Play well for 20 mins against a tiring defence and take to corners which we score from. Then just to have the last laugh s**t out of going for a header for them to get in for the third goal and make it clear as day that your leaving and you dont want to wear the shirt of the mighty Liverpool . Now thats the blue print to future players, forwards and centre mids what to do to become a popular figure on this banter page by 90% of posters. Doesn't matter what Carroll does, fans have made their mind up but lets see if Luis enjoys playing up front with him, because i guarentee he will, the havoc they'll wreck will be frightening, and the s**te people have spoken about one of our own players who got offered a chance to join us at 21, now 22 gets abused, doesn't matter what he does at all. Hi Eds - Great site, very addictive. In your opinion, would you give Aqualani this year to prove his worth? He has been far and away our best player in pre season and i honestly think he could be a key point of our midfield (esp if Gerrard is unlikely to play many games)... No offence to Adam, Henderson, Spearing, Lucas or Mireles but none of them have the vision he has. I understand we are over crowed in the middle of the park but i think we wud be better to give Spearing and Shelvey a loan move to another EPL club for their own development.. Mireles seem to be going, i do rate him but i also agree that the club should not have to give him a new deal just because he has played well. Aqualani's price is not going to go down much more, we seem to be thinnking of 10m or less for him, a good year in the EPL could make him a lot more valuable this time next year... if he has an ok year, we wud still get similar money. I think we have bought ok this year and i feel as a squad we are getting to where we need to be but on first glance (Pre season) our midfield has not made me feel like shouting "this is our year"... would you agree? {Ed002's Note - I don't know what to say. Aquilani wants out so giving him a year to prove his worth does not seem a viable option.}

02 Aug 2011 11:11:38
Remember the 25 man squad has to be named dont expect 4/5 new signings unless vast numbers of players are made aware they have to move on. Cant see all of these so called fringe players being happy with reserve football when some of them are capable of playing premiership football

For my two cents I would definitely get Barton. Good player, steel to him as well. Exactly what you want in a liverpool centre mid. Fair enough he's got a bit of attitude but he's actually matured a lot in the last few years, and he brings a fear with him from his old days which will unsettle opponents.
The next Souness maybe?

Anyway he's been through a lot and most of it was down to his own attitude which he has recognised. That builds character and if he didn't have it before he does now. If you watch his interviews recently I think he actually seems like a pretty good lad. And lets be honest it's hard not to grow up a little wild with something to prove if that's the only thing your peers respect....

Good to see kennys comments after the game about him being unhappy that we werent pressing high up the pitch in the first half the players looked lazy and uncomfortable playing 442 but happy with 4231 in the second if we are going to press high up the park carra is in real trouble he will get exposed more and more imo his time is up agger was also poor defensively at times diving into a stupid challenge nearly led to another goal.We badly need a centre back as ive said all summer.On a positive note last night sterling looked good when he came on, downing was a real threat all game carrol looked good when he got decent service. Spearing was/is poor just not good enough and i worry about adam.. I would be worried about our defence if i was kenny

Carroll seems to be getting a hard time and i think that its a bit unfair. Lets give him some time (and i think he has scored twice in 3 games in pre-season). I think he will be a good signing and will improve over time too. Not sure he will be a great but I expect him to get 15 goals this season and we have players like Suarez, adam and Downing who will score too. My real concerns are at the back - Lucas willl add some steel but there seems a real problem with being hit on the break and being beaten in the air. Agger, Skyterl and Johnson do not seem to have grown as players like JC did as he got older. I think we need new blood here desperatley. My choice would be Samba or Jagielka as they are real do or die players.

02 Aug 2011 10:19:41
What is happening with our defence, 15 goals conceeded in pre season, these are not prem quality teams we have played, KD needs to address this and fast, we cannot go into the first game of the new season with this sort of form, Sunderland will rip us to shreds, and the next game is arsenal, so stop all this calm down rubbish, our defence is in crisis, there is less then 2 weeks to go before the start of the new campaign, and we are looking weak at the back.

02 Aug 2011 09:59:43
Guys lets face it Stevie G is going to miss a fair few games this season, why not go for Joey Barton? Does not compare to Gerrard but a similar type of player and can feed Carroll

this is a team i would be happy with (reserves)
-------Reina (DONI)-------
-Kelly (Flanno)-DANN (Skrtel)-Agger (Carra)-Johnson (Robertson)
HENDERSON(Maxi)-Gerrard(ADAM)-Lucas(Spearing)-DOWNING(Sterling)
--Suarez(Kuyt)-Carrol(CHU YONG)
if we could sell Agger for enough i would also buy Gary Cahill for the defense. Carra would start some games but wouldn't start all of them as we want to make room for new centre backs. i would like to also see one really impressive CM/CAM signing like Mata or Martinez
your thoughts eds? {Ed001's Note - now I have figured out you mean Robinson at left back I am a bit happier! Though I personally would not touch Park Cu Young, I don't consider him good enough.}

Its a shame Aqualani maybe off. I found the ability to bring quality on to change the complexion of the game last night very refreshing.

Thats been the difference between us and the teams in the top four over the past couple of seasons. We have the likes of Ngog waltzing on like a girls blouse, they have Carrick, Valencia, Hernandez, Anderson etc. etc.

We need 2-3 tiers of quailty in order to adjust when the initialy formation/ tactics aren't working and not just a couple of idiots to throw on in the vain hope they may do something.

I note that theres some debate on Carroll again. In my opinion, and i've felt this from when he first signed, he is a quality impact player. By no means can he play as the lone striker, he is no good at holding the ball as he hasn't got the ability (as big as he is) to shape his body and make himself big. Look at how Kenny used to hold defenders off by spreading his arms and pushing his backside into the defender to hold the ball then turn to create the space for a shot, Carroll cant do that and I do believe that Kenny shouldn't be moulding the team around him. We should go in for another quality striker similar to Suarez and utilise Carroll to suit the opposition as and when. He can be effective against a certain type of defender but I don't think he has enough in his locker to command a regular first team slot in a team like Liverpool who now have aspirations of the title and further european glory.

For the record, if Bartons wage demands aren't excessive, I'd take him on a free as I think he'd be a good impact player to have in the background.

Morning ED's

It is starting to get a bit of a concern that we are leaking goals as fast as the Titanic was taking on water after it hit that iceberg.
I know its only pre season and most of the team are still to hit full fitness.
It looks like were missing Lucas, we also desperately need to get a left back and at least one centreback and quickly as they will need some time to bed in.

Dann, Cayhill (both) , Enrique or perreira.

Again, after watching hilights of the game today I can't understand why there is talk of Aquilani going anywhere. I know people have said in the past that it is because he wants to go back to Italy, but that has never been said by the player, at least publicly. His skill is exactly the type of play we need from the midfield and even when he finally started playing for Liverpool two seasons back you could tell how good he was. Why Hodgson allowed him to go out on loan is beyond me. If he is even remotely interested in staying at Liverpool then Kenny and Comolli would be nuts to let him go.

I for one do not necessarily think that guys like Meireles, Aquilani, and Cole will be gone at the end of the transfer window. Remember that Henry said he was shocked at the lack of quality on the bench for what they were being paid last season. If you keep those three guys around you can guarantee that the quality on the bench, regardless of who is starting would be there.

I think the only thing the team needs to do is get rid of the crap like Jovanovic, Poulsen, Degen, Kyrgiakos, El Zhar, Ngog, etc. and bring in another youngish type of striker for cover and maybe another Defender on the left side. I for one do not think they need another center D. Look for them to bring a fullback in for the left side too. I think Kenny is looking at a really good one for that side that will cost around the 15 million mark, which is why we are still waiting. Once those other players are jettisoned someone like Perreira will come in along with a cheaper forward option.

I've seen a couple of people saying 'Carra is far from his best' 'Carra is way to old'. But remember.... When Sami Hypia left. Our defense was screwed for the rest of the season.
Another player I have been happy with is Adam. Hes impressed me.
Remember by the way, just because Agua has played well now, doesn't mean he wold be at all ready for the rigors of the EPL

I think everyone should cast there minds back to the first half of last season when we had torres, He didnt want to play for the shirt and give his all for the cause we got rid of 1 of the best strikers in the world and got a fantastic strikeforce to replace him So everyone should trust the king in what hes doing if any player doesnt want to play for us then they get out liverpools success will come from loyalty passion and determination so every1 banging on about aquilani ask yourselves would you rather a player that is only at the club because he has nowhere else to go or would you rather players at the club that believe its a privilege to wear the liver bid? I just scrolled down to all the posts after the game yesterday. And not 1 post have i found, that ridicules Andy Carroll. It just goes to show, how fickle and stupid some people can be.

Carroll has been a hate figure on here, for more or less since he signed for us. Now he scores in a pre-season friendly, there dosn't seem to be much hatred directed his way. We/you are worse than Manc fans sometimes, because i'm never off the Manc site trying to give them banter (win or lose). Which to be fair works most of the time, but i have to admit, they don't slag their players off half as bad as some "fans" on here.

We are LFC fans apparentley? But visiting both sites, it's hard to tell the difference. We are Liverpool fans, we are the best and most supportive fans on the planet. But to read some posts on here about players, owners, signings, Kenny etc....It makes you wonder, why we were voted the greatest fans on the planet (2006-2007).

I've noticed also that most of the "fans" slagging Carroll, do not leave a name. Which could be down to 2 things?

A) They are not LFC fans and support another worthless club.

B) They are cowards, so when Carroll hits a purple patch we can't "name and shame" them.

Either way you have to stick to your opinions, like i have. I'm still not convinced that Carroll is good for us. But said from the start that i am prepared to give him to the end of the season (no matter how many goals he scores in pre season). So either get behind Andy or please, please, please stop posting BS about him, without even giving him a chance.

As for Aquaman, i'm begging you PLEASE STOP He has been our best player in pre-season (which means nothing) but he 100% does not want to play in England. If City wanted to buy him and offered him 300k a week, he would still want to go back to Italy. The Ed's have been telling us this since last summer, but still you persist in asking them "why dosn't Kenny want him?" "Kenny should do all he can to get him to stay" etc, etc, etc........Aquaman does not want to play for us, so he can f*ck off, just like Torres, Mascherano etc...

Aaahhhhhhh, That felt good to get off my chest.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Ed's, anything new on outs or in's at LFC mate. It's been quiet for a while.

Ps. Ps, Hows you Ed001 mate? Long time no see... {Ed001's Note - it is proving difficult to get rid of the players that are surplus which is holding things up. I do expect a left back and centre back, maybe even a back up forward as well, to join, if at all possible. Good thanks, I was without any net for a while, I was climbing the walls! How's things with you Blair?}

Raheem Sterling looked good today and will contribute this season. Agree or disagree?

02 Aug 2011 01:52:01
I will be surely shot down for this, but Dirt Kuyt is a waste of space, I mean fair play to him he runs and runs and runs and runs, but this isnt athletics and I dont know how many times in the Liverpool broke in the game last night only for it to be given to kuyt and he f**ks it up. Again he has served well but should be nowhere near a starting place. As for Midfield the way young Coady took his goal in the far east ( Ngog would have sent it into row Z or chinese equivilant) hope KK gives him some game time.

02 Aug 2011 01:41:07
i'm prepared for a slating here, but i think if both Raul and Aqua leave(i'd like to keep Raul), then we'd have a lot less quality in central midfield than people seem to think, Shelvey and Spearing will not play every match, that leaves Lucas, Adam, Hendo and Gerrard, if Stevie gets hurt and hendo spends some time on the wing, we're back in the same s**t we were in towards the end of last season. To have Joey Barton on the books could only be a good thing, despite his past f***ups, he's a quality player and maybe a stint under KK in his home town would be enough to straighten the lad out. We've bought players for depth, but if some of our players leave, then we don't have that depth anymore do we, so they will need to be replaced.

Just a thought.

02 Aug 2011 01:34:05
Liverpool to do double raid on Newcastle with Barton allowed to leave on a free 50-60k a week should do him and 9-10m for Enrique as he wants champions league and if he's clever enough he will realise he will get his wish next year and hopefully jovanovic is sent to anderlecht to get rid of some deadwood but personally I would keep aqualani as he ruled the midfield tonight and changed the game and if the rumours are true do the swap witch resolves around Chelsea swapping Sturridge for merieles and try to sign Adam Johnson for 11 good big of business and can all be done

Got this of the scum banter and it made me lmao..sounds as though they r worried if they r making this sh1t up....After one of the most humiliating pre-seasons in LFC's history Dalgleish has now turned to God for help ( not Eric ). so far its been a poor pre season but the teams that have been put out havent always been at full strength and also we havent finished buying players so the squad will still be improved. usually teams play their 1st team in their last friendly and valencia is ours so people should wait until then to see how gd the team is.

Even though Carroll got no support for first half hour he gets slated. When he does he score's win's header's free kicks, held it up well did everything asked of him. He's getting their, him and Suarez will be f***in lethal. And anyone who guestions Hendersons contribution is f***ed in the head. Played in 3 different positions, always wanted the ball, used it well besides one stray pass to Downing in second half, a rare talent that will take this league by storm. Mark my words, once we get the centre back, left back and hopefully second striker plus Suarez and the man it seems we've been missing the most Lucas. Aqualani was yesterday on one was assed about, again he's best thing since sliced bread AGAIN. We should be wishing our captain a SPEEDY recovery and not fret one bit for a guy who has no interest, which in the past is seen as the ultimate insult to real red's wear our shirt yet he doesn't and fans still clamour. Downing showed that he can break out of a f***in jog at 27 and aint some sloth without any technique, comments thats been posted about him before. Well played Charlie, showed what he could do with his range of passing. Watch when the team that plays Sunderland hammer em without Albert and then show some respect to our great club your becoming a f***in disgrace the way some are acting. Jonson6

Sergio Aguero has said in a press conference that he left the decision of his future up to his agent/manager, i can't remember the exact quote but he said something like "i didn't want to think about it as i was playing at the copa america, i didn't know where i was moving to, i just let my agent sort that".

Really shows the lads motives.....
But at least he's honest about it i suppose....

I would like to state my observation. It seems like everyone is saying that Gerrard is near the end after his injuries, and only has perhaps a season left. However I would like to say that I feel our dear Carragher is even closer to the end. I think last season we all saw that he was far from his best, despite his leadership capabilities. In fact he would be lucky to be a regular starter this season. I think he should be a bit part player and give advice to the young ones and yet play if necessary. I do believe that this will be his last season as a regular
