hi ed's great site, i just want to say im fed up with people moaning about the prices players are going to cost when we bought carroll for £35m and im sorry but we need a replacement for lucas he is not good enough. as for Adam he would be a better buy than meireles who i rate highly. once again fantastic site.

What do you think if we signed a little known Argentinian player playing in Spain? Think his name is Messi? Think he might scrape into our first team? What do u think guys?

02 Jun 2011 23:39:57
whats the deal with Insua and Alberto? have we been watching their progress while out on loan?

02 Jun 2011 23:31:06
So much fantasising and utter b.s. appears on this page. Liverpool cannot offer Champions League football and realistically will not be challenging for the title for at least two years. The transfer policy has been articulated by the club - "young with potential" and hence cheaper than established stars in terms of transfers and wages and do not have excess baggage in terms of ego. There will be no Aguerro or Benzema or the like and there will be no express elevator to the top.

02 Jun 2011 23:20:04
i just heard that torres is begging his agent to get him back to liverpool

02 Jun 2011 23:16:00
Adam Morgan should be registered as the 4th striker behind Dirk Kuyt in the pecking order. Fowler & Owen were only 16 & 17 in their debut seasons. We have everything we need already. I don't care if we don't win the league next if we promote 3 or 4 youth players to regular 1st team football. Obviously we don't want to burn them out. But we don't want to block them either.

02 Jun 2011 23:11:28
have liverpool closed in on any deal

On behalf of all the users of this website I would like to thank all the Eds.

Thank you gentlemen! {Ed003's Note -Cheers mate,from all the Ed's }

Hello.

I live in Switzerland and just thought I'd mention that Liverpool's youngsters performed really well today. England won 3-2 with Ngoo scoring the winning goal.

A few for the future methinks.

02 Jun 2011 22:51:29
aguero to liverpool any truth in that ed {Ed002's Note - Please read the other posts.}

02 Jun 2011 22:46:38
After the way FT left us stating "moving to a bigger club" i for 1 would not want him anywhere near KK revolution

02 Jun 2011 22:46:36
just heard that Liverpool are ready to spend big on the decided targets, but it wont happen until the dead wood is shipped out. So not much will happen until July when the transfer window opens for the rest of Europe!

02 Jun 2011 22:33:27
Ed002 to be honest I can't be arsed to read the rest of the website! Could you fill me in on the days rumours ? :) Haha {Ed002's Note - Sure - it is a great pity that we get people who don't have your sense of humour but feel that the editors, who give up their own time to do this volunterily, are at fault for this.}

02 Jun 2011 22:32:46
Ed002's Note - Why not take the time to see how many relies I have written today, yesterday, the day before? Then come back and apologise - oh no you can' can you? If it is so tedious and awful working on this website and you give up your spare time to do it, why bother? You obviously dont like it, all you do is give out blunt comments, if you dont like it just dont do it. The majority of people aren't blunt and sarcastic with their questions but you give such blunt and sarcastic replies. Stop moaning about people asking the same questions etc. yes it can be sorted with a click of a button but surely by now you know that people are going to be asking ridiculous questions and the same questions, surely it was in the job description. If you are moaning about the amount of replies to the same question etc. Why dont you quit?
Im a big fan of the site. I dont want to fall out with anyone i'm just asking you ed 002 and will listen to anything you have to say and take it on board, just wondering. Sorry if i've caused offense at all. JamieKey

{Ed002's Note - Yes you have caused offence. The Editor's give their time voluntarily and lengthy answers are provided. It is pretty soul destroying to see the same question asked dozens of times because people cannot be bothered to look through the posts. You think we have the time or inclination to deal with that amongst the 1000's of posts per day?}

Hi Ed.
Just read on Guardian website that Milan Jovanovic is on £120,000 A WEEK! Jesus wept, no wonder we haven't heard him moan about not playing!

With this frankly disgusting news in mind, how are we going to get the likes of Jovanovic off the books? What other club, other than a bunch of mentalists, would possibly pay him anything like that amount?

We also apparently have to pay Roma £4.4m as part of the Aquilani deal. Juve's last offer for him was £6m! This just beggars belief.

As well as Konchesky, Cole (100K a week), Poulsen and Brad Jones, we still have El Zhar, Degen and Insua on the payroll at LFC. There is a hell of a lot of work ahead for Fenway, Comoli and Kenny. Getting this bunch of s**te of our books will prove a lot harder than we think. THIS IS THE REALITY OF OUR SQUAD. I'm as delighted as everyone else about the return of the King, but will everyone just wake up and smell the coffee please!

02 Jun 2011 22:37:51
Torres rumours is wishful thinking, he's made his bed and is firmly lying in it. Chelski arn't LFC could of told you that before you left Torres. All this him coming back is the past and will never ever happen. 50Mil for a player potentially past it is all good.

02 Jun 2011 22:19:18
I would never have torres back he left because he thinks chelsea are a bigger and better club than us yes he is a fantastic player but no not for me.

02 Jun 2011 22:17:15
Hey ed is there a chance Torres will come back yes or no and please rate out of ten thanks and what a great website {Ed002's Note - My honest opinion is probably not for at least a while.}

02 Jun 2011 22:16:59
Obviously the one or two that actually want torres back havent been watchin him for the last 18 months, both at chelsea and liverpool. Hes NOT the same player! Hes lost it! Dont look back, look forward and if he wants to come back tough! As kenny said the club is bigger than any one person, the club is the club!

02 Jun 2011 22:02:02
Hi ed, what are the odds of Torres coming back? {Ed002's Note - No more than 8/10 so don't get carried away just yet.}

-----------------------------------

I assume that you're joking when you say 8/10? :P

anyway, have there been any significant developments in the market recently?

02 Jun 2011 22:14:13
Great site! Although, is it me or does it seem like Ed02 isn't really into it. Their replies are either short and abrupt or sarcastic???? {Ed002's Note - Why not take the time to see how many relies I have written today, yesterday, the day before? Then come back and apologise - oh no you can' can you?}

02 Jun 2011 22:13:16
just to clarify, there was someone who posted asking would u want torres back, i simply said yesci would:- however i am under no illusions, torres will not be returning! just wanted to clarify!

02 Jun 2011 22:12:29
Hi ed, what are the odds of Torres coming back? {Ed002's Note - No more than 8/10 so don't get carried away just yet.}

***************************

Where's this talk of Torres coming from Ed??

{Ed002's NOte - I went out to eat and came back to it - I really do not know.}

02 Jun 2011 22:11:48
Ed what is the chance of criscito ad have we shown any tangible interest?
Cheers, with great admiration of your patience! Alec {Ed002's Note - He is not on the cards. Thank you for the kind words. One of you fellow fans is spitting vile hatred at me for something which seems to have been done by a Liverpool Ed. It shows how ignorance ruins everything unfortunately.}

02 Jun 2011 22:10:32
02 Jun 2011 20:49:35
Ed are we looking at bringing in both McCarthy and Henderson? What would happen to Shelvey in that case? All of them are around the same age and play the same position.... And considering that Lucas, Spearing, Gerrard and Meireles are already here, I don't get why we are looking at multiple centre midfielders, especially with us not being in Europe... {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

DONT QUOTE ME but lucas and spearing are holding players gerrard is box to box and mCcarthy is seen as his replacement meireles and shelvey can play right across front line supporting main striker and henderson is an option for right midfield all bring something different to the team

02 Jun 2011 22:10:11
Liverpool are still the most successful country in England? Sure it's not YOU that's been smoking the old cock and bone? Hows the weather in Runcorn by the way?

Scott78

The weathers fine thanks! Just like to point out that Liverpool is not a country it's a City and there are no countries in England as it is a country! Who smokes cock now?? Haha

Runcorn red!

-------------------------------------

3rd attempt. Mate listen. Whilst you have taken the trouble to go through the archives to find that comment from the weekend, I thought you would have at least bothered to read the comment I was replying to?

The original post I was replying to was one where a posted said...quote "Liverpool are still the most successful country in England" I live ten minutes from Liverpool and am fully aware that it is not a country pal.

the cock and bone comment was meaning stone, smoking stone as is rymes with it. Are you with it now son.

I know you must be brathing in lots of chemicals being from Runcorn, but don't get carried away with yourself sunshine.

02 Jun 2011 22:10:05
ed do u believe kenny would take back torres a man that ditched liverpool in a bad time a time when he was most needed because i thought kenny was a man of loyalty, commitment and i dont think kenny would take him back, even if he turned up on his knees crying tomorrow. I believe in kennys eyes he has done this transfer in the worst possible way .(without respect)Do you agree with me ed?
thanks {Ed002's Note - Why not then.}

02 Jun 2011 22:09:43
Heard anything about Mamadou Sakho or Andre Ayew.

02 Jun 2011 22:08:00
I dont think we will get torres back but if we did, i honestly think Kenny will take him to one side and have a little talk with him and i think we would see the old torres back if he would get given the time with kenny.

02 Jun 2011 22:07:43
Chelseas assistant manager said Torres misses playing with Steven tetras I'm not lying what do you think of this ed ?? {Ed002's Note - I had really thought the Liverpool fans were over Torres?}

02 Jun 2011 22:06:39
do you reckon theres the slightest chance that torres will return to liverpool?? please reply eds! {Ed002's Note - Do you want him back?}

02 Jun 2011 22:05:33
Same old liverpool fans talking sh*t, the truth is liverpool will be signing players in the summer but they will be nothing more than overrated player, like andy carroll and you will end up going back into debt because the owners will spend stupid amounts of money for these overrated players, expect nothing more than a 6th or 7th place finish next year even with your saviour "king" kenny in charge.

02 Jun 2011 21:59:43
God I love our new regime, no-one and I mean no-one sore a bid coming for jordon henderson if the press is believed to be true. Whether we agree or not as to whether he is a liverpool quality player I love the fact that we are doing things behind doors without leeks. I fully expect to see messi and suarez as our forward two with kaka playing in just behind. (I know I'm wrong but I appear to be just as close as everyone else) anyway my wrong rumour is Higuain

on a serious matter I hear our owners are either on their way over or will be soon, hopefully to confirm some signings and perhaps stadium news, any word on this eds?.

keep smilin and keep getting it wrong folks we all love it. Its what makes the close season pass by
hol {Ed002's Note - You don't see this as evidence of Liverpool doing their business in the public domain then? Otherwise, how do you know about this at all?}

02 Jun 2011 22:03:58
Ed:002 as I said earlier today and u never posted it . I know u support Chelsea but y edit a liverpool site jf u can't be professional about it . I asked a simple question and I would appreciate a simple answer . ....the chef kd7 YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - I don't know when you posted whatever you did, but there are multiple editors and I did not fail to post anything. I don't expect an apology from you for your abusive unsubstantiated accusation.}

02 Jun 2011 21:57:46
FSG are not stupid guys, they are not going to say we have X amount to spend. And before I get shot down by eds, i'm not saying we will get all these superstars, but......

Boston Redsox just made MLB record signing
Premier League Liverpool
by uscwatson (U14433199) 09 December 2010

Just signed outfielder Carl Crawford to a 7-year $142 million contract making him the highest paid outfielder in professional baseball history with $20.3 million a year.

Yes thats near on £70 million for one baseball players. So when we say they will not fork up the cash for Aguero, well....

Lots more money to be made from EPL....

Comments Eds (awaiting the normal, your a idiot lol, btw still love this site)

redphil {Ed002's Note - You are right - you simply cannot grasp the difference between baseball and football. I assume you are a baseball fan as clearly you know zip about football.}

02 Jun 2011 21:52:18
Liverpool have been told by Juventus that they are only prepared to offer £6million for Kop flop Alberto Aquilani.

he still has three years left on his £80,000 a week

would you let him go for 6m or keep him

02 Jun 2011 21:43:42
Matt Jarvis of wolves back on KK rador hotting up :)

02 Jun 2011 21:36:56
All these players that are being linked with liverpool are once again mediocre names. I would rather they buy a couple of world class players than half a dozen average ones. It happens every summer. Unless they change this they will never reach the summit of english football. Marc.

02 Jun 2011 21:36:23
i would have torres back in a heartbeat, but as eds say, he would have to build bridges
============================
Just cant see this happening.. He didnt hustle for us, didn't hustle for Chelsea...

02 Jun 2011 21:31:28
Under the terms of the deal which brought Aquilani to Anfield on a five-year contract, Liverpool paid 5million euros up front and then payments of 3million euros in January 2010 and 7million euros in June 2010 with a further 5million euros due by the end of this month."

One word . Bumped.

What were Rafa Benitez and Christian Purslow thinking? For a fairly average player who couldn't speak the language and was half a season away from fitness, this must go down as one of the worst purchases in the clubs history.

Liverpool also agreed a clause to pay Roma add-on's in the event of any success (didn't get triggered) as well as paying the Italians 5% of any fee generated from a re-sale. f*** me they saw the reds coming. The Roma board must have been rubbing their hands together when Liverpool agreed to this madness.

Apparently Juventus might not even want him anymore and with his agent now chatting prices in the region of £6 million, Liverpool are set to make a massive loss. Once the £5 million debt gets gets wired over to Rome along with the 5% bevy, Liverpool will have just about enough to pay the last few weeks of his wages. The last thing Liverpool want is to pay his wages for another season and have to deal with the same old problem this time next year. Best to take the loss, learn a lesson and move on
from **e*****

{Ed002's Note - But somehow it passed you by me explaining this for the past year.}

02 Jun 2011 21:29:44
Alot of people saying there is nochance of Torres returning but don't forget the manager is the same man who brought Rush back from Juventus when he was a flop what are your thoughts on any possible move ed

Here's one for you all.

Right this is not a debate it is a straight YES or NO answer. Would you have Fernando Torres back at Anfield? I just want a answer!! Go!

What you think eds just see what people think. {Ed013's Note - I would if he tried harder but he has to build bridges}

no chance, plus he wouldnt come back anyway and chelsea wont be selling him back specially when they jus paid £50million for him he will be at chelsea for a couple of years now

02 Jun 2011 21:28:14
HI ED just on the torres thing i would'nt have him back even if chelski payed us 50million to take him he is on a downward slop king kenny made a fantastic decision in selling torres we now have 2 work horse's up front and we got them from the money payed for torres so in my eyes its good bye torres good riddens lets face it he is no ian rush who came back but never once let our mighty team down as has been shown he has left his best years behind and lets not forget he kind of initiated the move and got what he wanted chmps league football and me personally thought his performances for us before he left for a season was dreadful.im very angry at the suggestion that some fans would want him back

02 Jun 2011 21:24:48
Correct me if i'm wrong ed but i'm sure Upson is available on a free so there is more chance that Aguero would join us then Upson for 10 mil.In fact there's more chance of Messi coming then Upson for 10 mil.Jonny Boy6

02 Jun 2011 21:21:07
Right this is not a debate it is a straight YES or NO answer. Would you have Fernando Torres back at Anfield? I just want a answer!! Go!

What you think eds just see what people think. {Ed013's Note - I would if he tried harder but he has to build bridges}

Torres used to be my hero, i had half a dozen jerseys with his name on it, i admit i was very anger that he wanted to go but they way he left drove me crazy other fans(friends) didnt get it. He was the most loved guy in the club (Debatable) and fans would chant his name even if he hadnt touched the ball for thirty minutes but then he without giving a reason(at the time). So i think its safe to say i will never be welcome "him" entering liverpool.

02 Jun 2011 21:20:00
is PaulGrat1 asking how we feel about torres on behaf of somebody else , otherwise what is the point of this, i thought we had moved on. {Ed002's Note - Seemingly some of the Liverpool fans are far from having moved on.}

02 Jun 2011 21:17:32
Hopefully this will be posted but here goes...Sunderland knocked back £12m for Henderson but he is willing to move... He was at the north east sports awards in Jan, in the venue where I work. After the event he left sharp when he was asked if he would follow Darren Bent out of Sunderland. Read it to that what you want but there is mixed feelings about it on wearside with a few of my mates saying they want the £20m if Carroll is £35m and others saying they'd carry him to Liverpool for £12m.
I honestly think its pontless if we have Spearing and Jonjo coming through and Henderson cant do anymore that Lucas.
Anyway my opinion (and please feel free to put your views to it ed's) is the priority 2/3 great wingers as we has no out n out wingers really, from perotti, downing, young and mata.
Then we need a left back...safe a few quid and keep insua...baines looks a struggling deal and enrique can be sketchy in defence and coentrao is a no go.
Then a solid central defender like the fact cahil and dann are gettin mentioned but i can only see the later being possible but i think Samba might be a good shout, solid, gets goals, dominating on the pitch and probs cheapers then the first 2.
THEN...a striker and CM. CM Charlie Adam is a good shout but hes soooo slow, but good goals return, passionate and a cracking left foot. Others Barton (someone for Carroll to spend time in Jail with maybe?? no thanks) then Henderson..see above. Strikers Aguero would be lovely but its not the £39m its his massive wage and signing on fee (and no european football), Lavezzi...see above. Higuain would be a great shout for the £15m mentioned but again doubt it. Long would be a decent shout as a back up for £4m with young players like Morgan coming through at rapid rates.
Anyway thanks for reading my rabbles and lets just hope its an eventful and positive summer with Liverpool lifting a trophy or 2 at the end of may next year.

HI ED and fellow RED fans

i think we are going to do some very interesting business .........

--------------------------

In your honest opinion? {Ed002's Note - Hulk blows it apart before looking anywhere else. Sorry.}

02 Jun 2011 20:59:07
Joe Cole to Fleetwood Town.

02 Jun 2011 20:51:25
Why do people want Aguero, from what i've seen he is a worse but more expensive version of Luis Suarez. He can't even get into the starting eleven of his national team!!
--------------------------------------
Yeah, but he has to contend with Messi, Higuain & Tevez which can't be easy.

CL x

02 Jun 2011 20:48:42
When people are saying we cannot afford a player (aguero etc), how could they possibly know. Not saying were as rich as city and i dont even need to go on about hicks and gillet but for the red sox if nesv/fsg wants a player they get normally get them. And the only chance (jan) theyve had to show this theyve delivered. Again not suggesting were as rich as city but they wouldn't of bought the club if they didn't intend on winning.

20:00 Thursday Summary (Live from the Isle of Man TT Races)

From what I have seen today

1: Aguero Aguero Aguero - Not Happening and getting to the stage that the whole saga needs to be dropped use a bit of imagination if you feel the need to post.

2: Henderson - why the negatives on a player who has ben consistently top class in his first full season in the Premier League with an England Cap and bags of potential - again stop posting this shows more sense and ambition than Alonso who is 10 years older 4 yards slower and £40k a week more in cash AMBITION FUELS OUR CLUB look forward not backward.

3. Carroll has fallen out with NO's 8 & 23 and will be sold HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Even if it is 4% true nobody would give us a set of cones and bibs for an unfit trouble maker so he stays. Lets put the local loyalty down and show sense - since when did No 23 & No 8 control tactics, budget, playing staff and transfer policy think please chaps

4: Riise back to LFC - he was awful, injury prone and slow when we sold him - makes sense to buy him back now. Alonso would need to give him a 10 yrd headstart.

Lets be constructive about who we want - fresh names with talent attitude and ambition.

We are looking strong already priority is to win the PL and it has been proved this year you only need to win 4 away games in a season to top the league.

I didn't want to summarise Adam, Mata, Marin, Young and all the usual horse.

The Eds do a great job but with the same studd getting trotted out every day I am sure they could take a week off from our page and no one would know

I think were should'nt spend to much money on a left full back Liverpool beat of Chelski, Real Madrid for the signing of Alex O Hanlon he scored 2 against Real Madrid and 1 against Ajax in an under 17 tournament in Amsterdam He's meant to be the new Gareth Bale.It would be a waste to spend big I think this lad could be in the first team in 12-18 months.

--------------
in case your not of this real world, o, hanlon as good as he might turn out to be is 15 years old, to expect him to challenge for a first team spot so soon is laughable

I agree we need someone asap my point is that its not unusal for a 16year old to make his debut Gareth Bale, Ryan Giggs, Jack wilshere etc its not that laughable.I do take your point on board though great site keep the good work up.

OK i stopped laughing again first of all wilshere yes made his d but as a 16 year old but was mostly friendly s and minor sub appearances he made his first prem start when he was 18 years old, giggs was 17 and 6 months when he made his d but but only became a regular challenger the following season when 18 and bale at 16 was playing in a championship team not the premiership.we need a quality left back as koncheskey and insua will both probably be sold and aurellio cant be trusted to stay fit and im afraid players don't come cheap and yes 25 million quoted for contrao will be a waste but 15 million is a realistic price we will have to pay

Just heard from my mate who works in the chipper, he is in the know on all things chip related, not so much with football but still in the know all the same, Liverpool are bringing back Fernando Torres for £20million plus Joe Cole it turns out neither player actually realised they were awake when they moved and had been expecting to wake up at any minute, Liverpool will then use Torres in a player plus cash deal that will see Aguero signing from Real Madrid approxamtly 2 weeks after signing for them because he is a liverpool supporter and he didnt realise that if he washes his Liverpool jersey in the same load as the Real jersey it will turn pink and he will look like a nonce. You heard it here first, this will defo happen FACT.

Why do people want Aguero, from what i've seen he is a worse but more expensive version of Luis Suarez. He can't even get into the starting eleven of his national team!!!!!

02 Jun 2011 20:19:23
Why does everyone label Mata as a left winger? Ok he's left footed and began his career there, but has played the majority of the season centrally in the hole.

Im excited by the prospect of henderson better than shelvey and spearing imo i know that they are different tyoes of player and could be world class soon hope this deal goes through before anyone else snaps him up

02 Jun 2011 20:05:41
With Hughes now having left Fulham I would go in and get a player who I tipped up in a big way before the season started and despite an unlucky injury he has looked very good and that is Dembele. Trust me this guy will be a top prem player next season

Let's not be silly there is no way Torres is coming back it was a brilliant piece of business for a player that seems to have lost his touch entirely and we don't need him anymore . tom

does anyone actually want henderson im from near sunderland and i go to games with mates and i must admit he is awful and even the sunderland fans hate him

It's nice to see how Big Sam and Roman spend their free time. £10m for Upson, Kalou would be a great asset to the team? Honestly, gimme a break. They should go to smaller teams, like Manchester United.

02 Jun 2011 19:34:17
to the person who put this,

Major Summer Ahead deals to be done for: Phil Jones, Jordan Henderson, James McCarthy and Leighton Baines

why would we be looking at 2 central midfielders when we have and abundance of talent in that area already, maybe one of the 2 but we need to concentrate on width for the forthcoming season. as identified by many on here and in the footballing world (media and staff of liverpool)

i'm not saying that we might not go for them but it is not a priority and it is surprising not to see wide players mentioned.

personally i think we are going to miss out on the big names as they are all motivated by playing champions league (or so it seems) but i feel that there is still a lot of decent players out there who could be good acquisitions. for example, scott sinclair of swansea. my mates will kill me for saying this as being from swansea tthey want him to stay as one of the players of the season. seeing this guy play for most of the home games he has had an amazing season. great pace, passing and finsihing too. chack out his performance in the play off final for example. could provide and effective outlet on the left side for us.

02 Jun 2011 19:31:21
is there any intrest in elia still, he is quality and in my opinion could become a anfield legend if he came to the reds!!

Real Madrid are trying to start Negotiations with Kun....he wants the move, and wants to stay in La Liga but open to other teams....looks like Madrid might get their way however I believe there will be twists and turns...I feel athletico will resist

Aguero doesnt want to come to Liverpool and would rather stay where he is if big clubs dont come in for him. A more likely arrival for Liverpool is Matt Upson for £10m.

Rumours flying around in Spain that Torres wants to return to Liverpool, he also wants to know whether he is welcome back. Cannot see it happening, but hey it's a rumour and that is what it is all about :)

I don't understand why King Kenny want to buy massively over-rated ENGLISH players like YOUNG, ADAM, CARROLL etc. There are tons of talent available outside the country. Simple logic, what Carroll has done for the last 4 months apart from Man City performance, he could have waited for the season end & could have saved 20 million atleast on Carroll by snapping him inside 15million. He is Now going mad after ADAM when we have Aquilani returning. Lucas is the main problem, he cannot dictate the play. Merieles is no play-maker. We need 2 good mid-fielders. No need to waste money on ADAM, HENDERSON. Just welcome Aquilani & swap Lucas for Banega. Throw 2 million pounds if Valencia want. All is sorted.

Agreed about the African market. Not to be racist, but athletes from Africa tend to be superior physically to other parts of the world, which is ideal for the premier league
------------------------------------------------
Whoever posted the comment above needs to stop talking nonsense. It's all opinion, and my opinion is that you can cherry pick some big strong lads from Africa, and then say that they are "superior physically to other parts of the world" but you are wrong my friend. I suppose all English men wear bowler hats and are of average height and build, French men are quit portly with a moustache and wear a beret etc. You get all kinds from everywhere.

Just for example, Is Asamoah Gyan physically superior to Andy Carroll? Is Didier Drogba physically superior to Nikola Zigic? . It's just a matter of who you compare the player you're mentioning to. In my opinion, people from all continents are well matched physically, and I mean all aspects of physicality. Running, stamina, speed, strength etc etc. Your point about not wanting to sound racist is somewhat contradictory in my opinion. The point is you can be 5ft 7", 10 stone from outer Mongolia and be a success in the Premier league if you're a good enough football player in my opinion.

Rant over.

If anyone can persuade Aguero it is Maxi, his best friend who coincidentally is "loving life" in Liverpool. A player like Aguero would boost the rep. of LFC even more. Not only this but a serious title challenge could be made of the likes of Chelsea and United who really have not been able to buy big for the past few seasons.

02 Jun 2011 18:38:59
Jordan Henderson will probably be headed our way for 14-15 million. Anyone else notice that not a single person mentioned this name until today when it was on LFC official website and on Sky Sports. People still claim to be in the know and they've known this for time. WE have no idea about actual Kenny's list so will people please stop claiming they KNOW who is coming. Get on the Wish lists please. The only people KNOW might be headed this was are interests in Mata, Henderson, Clichy/Enrique/Izaguierre, Marveaux, Young, Dann. Maybe a few others but would people stop claiming to be in the know about things or claim others are headed this way. You are all falling into the trap of paper talk or making up your own FIFA 11 team. Please stop and leave this site for real rumours.

02 Jun 2011 18:33:13
what do you think the chances of us offloading poulsen, jovanovic and cole are? and who do you think would be likely suitors andfor what price?

cheers

---------------------------------------------

Poulsen - Barratt Homes need a few labourers for their building sites. With a foot like a shovel, he'll fit in nicely. £37.50 per week

Jovanovic - With nobody having seen him for nearly 12 months, he's just been announced as the FA's 2011 Hide And Seek Champion. He may be taking it up professionally next year. He reckons he can beat Osama Bin Laden's record. £100 per tournament.

Cole - Out of condition, too fat smokes too much. He's buying a velvet tuxedo and a frilly shirt and becoming a Bernand Manning tribute act on the Northern comedy club circuit. £80 per gig.

One you forgot to mention -

Konchesky - He's used to queues of people going past him all day long, so he's getting a job serving chips in the Lobster Pot. £6.50 per hour.

Possibly.

With the speculation around Henderson has this affected our pursuit of McCarthy and Adam. Ed, if you have time could you please rate out of 10 our chances of signing: Marveux, Downing, Mata, Young, Perotti, Dann, Enrique, Izaguirre, Coentrao, McCarthy, Adam

{Ed002's Note - 9, 4, 3, 3, 6, 7, 6, 3, 0, 6, 6 - all including the latest updates.}

So do you honestly expect us to challenge for the league or get back into the champions league by signing average players?

Higuain at 15m is a steal! Surely he is worth more than that!? If these rumours are true then that would be great! However Higuain is a striker and not a winger and therefore, Suarez, Carroll and Higuain cant be in the team at the same time so one will be unhappy.

aguero ed?????????????????????

{Ed002's Note - These are simple salaries and not packages as paid, and in some cases they are estimated as they state somewhere. Highly misleading. It is also not "much respected" data at all - and certainly never even used by journalists.}

02 Jun 2011 17:28:54
I am not convinced with this Henderson chap, I think Shelvey is just as talented if not more than him so why are we bidding for a position that we already have plenty of bodies to fill anyway. Same goes for Macarthy, Adam et al, unless he is of exceptional quality ala Munian or Erikson for instance, i don't see the point. Similarly, I don't know why everybody is harping on about Aguero when we have a great player of the same mould already in Suarez, I would rather see two creative wide players for either side come in who can also chip in a couple of goals. Not convinced by Young and hope he does not sign, Mata would be perfect as would Payet who I rate highly by the way. I like the look of Elia, but I am wary that he may not be a natural footballer in terms of reading the game and picking the right pass much like Babel. I also dont think we need to waste millions of our transfer budget on a lb when we have a ready made excellent defender in Chris Mavinger, bamboozled by that I am. As i see it we don't need a massive overhaul, just a smattering of great talent and maybe one world class addition, Hazard would have been great but as the Eds have pointed out on many an occasion he will not be coming here. Ideally we just need the right mix of youth and experience and players who want to play for the liverbird.

02 Jun 2011 17:28:44
I am so puzzled as to who we should sign as our LB. Jose Enrique? Looks good going forward but his positioning & defending is in doubt. Emilio Izaguirre? Looks top class in the SPL, but the SPL has no quality wingers so unproven and very risky. Juan Manuel Vargas? People are saying he's similar to Coentrao, a wing back, so not what we need. The two that I would love to join just seem very unlikely, Aly Cissokho & Jose Angel.

Stone YNWA
---------------------------------
why dont we need a wing back? we need to be an attacking team. and the best way to do that is to have full backs attack. Look at chelsea last year and how many they scored when both wing backs were attacking. Now ashley cole doesnt attack and they scraped through games. Same happened to us with Johnson and Koncheskey not attacking.

Liverpool should buy:-
SANTON (for LB)
PEROTTI (for the wing)
MATA (for the wing also)
ADAM (to fill the gap alonso left for the time being)
MARKO MARIN (cos for a small guy hes quality)
PHIL JONES (would be a good replacement for carra)
J.HENDERSON (seen as enquiries have been made)
J.McCARTHY (????????????????)
E.LAMELA (pure quality and a real talent)

Maybe DIEGO also but not sure heard he can upset morale!

LETS HOPE ITS A BUSY WINDOW!!

Aguero has spoken today of his desire to leave atletico Madrid, he said he is open to all teams but would prefer to stay in la Liga as he is used to it, but if not he would like to go to the Premier League, never mentioned anything about champions league etc just that he is open to all offers

02 Jun 2011 16:57:50
{Ed006's Note - I think it would be better to have some mixture of nationalities myself. I have heard that we bid £13m but they are looking for around £20m. There is no doubt the lad is a good player but I would rather let Lucas, Shelvey and Spearing have game time rather than needlessly splashing the cash on a position we do not need.}

Totally agree, however hasn't henderson been playing on the right for them this season? Maybe thats what kenny see' s him as?

02 Jun 2011 16:55:32
the reason james mccarthy pulled out of the latest rep of ireland squad under a cloud was not becoz of injury, he knows of liverpool interest and needs time to consider his options - first team at wigan or a dream move to liverpool with limited action

just wondering are KK and DC looking for pace in attacking areas as much as youth as i noticed tat we are definitely one of the slower premier league sides. SInce the sale of babel i cant think of anyone in our squad with real speed. WHat do you think?

Aguero could happen

But 100 Million on strikers is a bit stupid, we need the basic positions first, LB and Winger

Lets be honest were not signing Drogba. This is a player who is near the end of career and has tried on countless occasions to cheat us out of games in every competition. And why would we offer joe cole as part of the deal, hes not going to get any better and lets not forget chelsea will also be aiming for trophies

Johnson+7m for a old 33 year old grandad Drogba who makes these things up, Geln Johonson is our number 1 fullback and he will not go anywhere and if we want a old striker with experience there is Forlan who has fallen out with AM, or even Klose on a free

Kenny Dalglish will take off where he left Liverpool in 1991, not afraid to cast his net far and wide in the lower leagues of the English pyramid system.

He had signed John Aldridge and Ray Houghton from Oxford City In 1980's and he looks to scoop yet another Oxford City player Lee Malone. Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish believes he is the man to replace Steven Gerrard as he is the best box to box midfielder in Oxford.

Kenny Dalglish is also looking to bring in Chris Giles on a six year contract with a view to a coaching role from Salisbury City, the fee is undisclosed as of yet.

The young player Kenny Dalglish wants to compliment Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll goes by the name of Tom Bradshaw, at only 18 years of age it could be a risk but yet another shrewd move by Kenny Dalglish.

02 Jun 2011 14:44:12

Raul Meireles looks likely to leave Liverpool during the summer. His contract has been under review recently (as part of the orginal deal to sign him) and Dalglish and Comolli have decided not to reward him with a new one. They are not stupid, they are professionals. Those who know the game of football do not succumb to the underserved hype surrounding him due to his brief spell of goals. They don't just see the goals he has scored but all of the anonymous performances and his inability to cope phiysically in the Premier League. He has been shifted out wide most of the time under Kenny to fit in better players like Lucas and Spearing. Meireles is unhappy about not being rewarded a new contract and will now probably decide to look for another club as he seems to believe that he could walk into any team. Dalglish and Commoli seem keen to replace him with a younger British player like Henderson or McCarthy. I see people have been posting their concerns about the central midfield position being overstaffed, but the plan is to sell Poulsen and Meireles (and obviously Aquilani) and to go into the new season with 5 players, Gerrard, Lucas, Spearing, Shelvey along with the new signing.

Do the editors have any information relating to this?

To.Ba {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

**********************************
This story is from a few weeks ago. Hodgson and Meireles came to a "Verbal" agreement to increase his wages if his first season in the Premier League is a success which it has been... Any person will tell you evey agreement should be put in writing, especially when money's involved. Its nothing got to do with extending his contract, its only wage related

I hope we do not sign Henderson for the ridiculous amount sunderland is asking. Good talent that he is, he is nowhere near 20m quality. McCarthy at 10m would be a loads better deal instead. And lets face it, being the old pal of fergie that he is, steve bruce ain't gonna lower the asking price.

I also can't believe why so many people have wet dreams about aguero? Besides the fact that it would be suicidal financially, there is no guarantee that he would settle in english football. There have been numerous examples before.

Could people please stop with the Ageuro talk this will never happen as reported we have a 50 million budget and will not blow 39 million on one player.
I have heard that Kenny is keen on Long from Reading which we have more chance of doing than us signing Ageuro

Please dont anyone link Hulk with our great club again. Hes a one trick pony (or donkey) who is over rated and over priced and has been playing in a very average league. Come on people we can think of better players than him! Raheem sterling is better than him now and hes still a kid!

02 Jun 2011 15:07:25
i think the slatin meriles need to rethink, since kenny as bin there e as turned the courner an was quality in a team that seemed full of freedom under hodgson e was thrown in the deep end as gerrard was injured but stil did pretty wel i think it would b a shockin decision if we wer to sell him as e as a lot of quality about him!!!

02 Jun 2011 15:01:28
Will people wake up! Mierieles isn't going anywhere so shut up with the bull that he's going!! He even came out and said yes I am disappointed that we (LFC) didn't challenge for title n trophies but we are staying positive & looking forward to next season il repeat that just in case you didn't get that looking forward to NEXT SEASON so stop with the bull KK rates him End of.

Good site ED but some people on here are morans nobody knows who's coming in or leaving only KK and commoli know and possibly you with your contacts!

Why we need likes of Aguero and Benzema in our squad next season. Both of them want starting places in the Squad and we can't afford Suarez to come from Bench. We can't start Caroll on the Bench due to the fact he is the most expansive British Footballer. So, i feels that Kuyt will fill the third choice Striker. But, if Kenny wants another i will welcome. I feels that we could snap some one who comes for a fee about 5-6 million and happy to make an impact from Bench.

Major summer ahead deals to be done for: Sergio Aguero, Phil Jones, Jordan Henderson, James McCarthy and Leighton Baines

02 Jun 2011 14:48:45
Mata - 18 mil, Elia - 10 mil, Henderson - 13 mil, Enrique - 8 mil, Lavezzi - 25 mil! More than 75% chance of signing I believe. RR

Ed, I'm getting very concerned with the transfer targets for this summer .. Come on .. surely we need to be trying to get the best players in Europe, not these henderson, McCarthy etc etc .. Sort out KK !! {Ed002's Note - You need to write to Mr Dalglish and M Comolli.}

02 Jun 2011 14:37:09
Ed's.. There is all this talk about players coming in etc. But What about players leaving anfield? Are there Many likely to go? In order to gain more you have too lose some. Any names floating about? {Ed002's Note - Read the posts and you will see.}

02 Jun 2011 13:54:52
hey ed, although i would love to see kun aguero come and join us, i am realistic and no the chances are slim, but i just wonderd why and when he became the hottest thing since football began. i know the boy is talented, but is he really worth 40m and 200k a week? he isnt first choice for his country, even when his father in-law was manager he started on the bench, so are we to assume the likes of tevez, higuain milito are better? would we pay them 200k a week? i just dont see what he has done to command those sort of wages, that clubs like chelsea and united cant put a package together? maybe he is pricing himself out of a move to england, waiting for a move to real? what do you think ed.

matt 27 {Ed002's Note - I really don't know what the question is Matt.}

I think basically what Matt is asking, when did Argentina's 4 th choice striker become the hottest property in Spanish football and would be justified spending the money, both transfer fees and wages on those ahead of him? Ie Tevez would be better buy than Aguero for same money

Rebel_red
I ll probably be lambasted for this, but I think there is far better value out there than Aguero, {Ed001's Note - it is something I will never understand, Aguero has shown nothing to suggest he is worth it. It would be paying for potential rather than proven talent.}

02 Jun 2011 14:14:16
re; aguero,
wasnt so much a question, more of my thoughts, on why he values himself {wages} so highly. he a good player, but has he done enough in his career to justify his demands in your opinion, just wanted your opinion on him really, do you think that what ever team he moves to, is paying 40m fee and 200k a week value for what they are getting?

refering to my post on aquaman, it was hardly a premature comment , i did use the 'apparantly' , and is it not well known and widwly accepted that juve arent willing to pay the full asking price? lemon {Ed002's Note - But you suggested that no one was willing to buy him.}

Not a fan of Barton joining. Not casue of his past problems out of footy, but I just don't think he's what L'pool need. Barton needs to play as a figure head in a team, but at l'pool he'll be peripheral.

KK will look local, a Henderson, Adam, etc. are what we need.

02 Jun 2011 13:54:05
Ed 002 why are you always so negative on the rumours people post?
It is a rumour site and it's part of the madness of the close season for people to speculate. Let them have their say and if they don't come to fruition then you can be safe in the knowledge that you were right.

{Ed002's Note - So you want me to lie? Alves, Coentrao, Ganso, Goetze, Hulk, Ilicic, Iturbe, Martinez, Neymar, Pato, Sanchez, Taiwo and Tevez will be joining after a £63M (plus Joe Cole) bid for Aguero was accepted yesterday. Joey Barton confirmed as new player/manager of Liverpool.}

02 Jun 2011 13:53:51
Hey Eds.. Everybodys goin on about the McCarthy and Henderson proposed transfers and where they are going to play?

We will sign either one or the other its simple.
Most likely Henderson though.

Along with a LB, CB, RW, LW, ST.

Forget Ashley Young, Eden Hazard and Aguero. But Mata, Downing, N'Zogbia, Lavezzi, Marveaux are all quite possible for the wings/second striker roles. Not all of them obviously just 2.

Then either Dann or Jones at CB. And at LB its a tug of war between us and United for Jose Enrique. But expect all transfers to be kept under wraps until deals are done.

If ed has time tell me your view, cheers.

In KK we trust. {Ed002's Note - You might be confusing this with some sort of chat page. The Editors will try and respond to questions asked if they are reasonable, but there is not time to enter in to general chat about where all of these midfiled payers will be used. Try addressing such matters to other posters.}

02 Jun 2011 13:52:43
with aquaman not wanting an lfc return, and nobody apparantly wanting to pay the asking price, i believe kk will use him in a cash + player swap. i have no idea who but it seems like a viable option as there is no doubt he is a decent player! i would also love to see us go after honda again, hes fantastic and would bring loads to the squad. i also believe charlie adam would be a decent signing. despite the views of the eds, it is my opinion that there is interest in aguero. although expensive, he is rather similar to suarez so perhaps playing suarez just behind carroll and aguero would be deadly! or alternatively 4-3-3! lemon {Ed002's Note - Given the international transfer window does not open for another month, it seems a little premature for you to say that nobody will pay the asking price.}

02 Jun 2011 13:51:17

02 Jun 2011 13:44:59
What are the chances that we will still get Henderson although we've been rejected? Will we still pursue him? Will he try force the move? What are the chances that he could still turn out for LFC next season? Did we go for him because we missed out on Mccarthy or were we going for both? Sorry, a lot of questions! Would be appreciated if you did answer them though :)
Thanks. Jamiekeeyy

liverpool Football Club can today confirm it will compete against some of Europe's top clubs in a Champions League-style U19s tournament which starts in 2011-12.

Sixteen clubs including Barcelona and Inter Milan have confirmed their involvement in The Nextgen Series - a six-month format which allows the continent's top young footballers to compete against each other week in, week out for the first time.

Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, PSV, Celtic and Sporting Lisbon will also take part.

Sanctioned by UEFA and the FA, the tournament has been established to help Europe's best teenagers make the transition from youth football to senior level.

Four groups of four teams will battle it out home and away from August, with the top two progressing to the knockout stages which begin in January.

The tournament is the brainchild of ex-pro and former Watford Academy manager Mark Warburton and TV producer Justin Andrews.

Warburton said: "The Nextgen Series will provide a cognitive learning environment for players to experience how best to cope with the pressures of top-level football."

Organisers believe young players will benefit from travelling abroad and facing new styles of play, as well as being officiated by top referees and having to deal with media interest.

Clubs confirmed include Barcelona, Inter Milan, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Marseille, Sporting Lisbon, Wolfsburg, Molde, PSV, Celtic, FC Basel, Fenerbahce and Rosenborg.

Opening bills this morning got me thinking money matters.
Do any of the eds know if RBS are still main LFC bankers?
How has our credit worthiness status changed after the H&G fiasco?
Or is it a clean slate with the new owners?
Do clubs get an overdraft facility eds?
A skint KB !

{Ed002's Note - RBS were carrying part of the loan; the club can borrow if it needs to; it is a clean slate; yes.}

Hi Ed,
My source tells me the owners are to give us 50 million for transfers and KK is going to try and sell up to 8 players, one being Glenn Johnson... Do you think this is possible?

Also i see you say we have held talks with Mata's representatives? Any news of how those talks went or if we will be lining up a bid anytimes soon?

Jordan Henderson... Do you think we will meet Sunderlands 20 mill asking price? Lots of potential but very expensive and would be better spent elsewhere in my opinion

{Ed002's Note - (1) Possible; (2) everything we have on Mata has already been said; (3) I really don't know - it seems an awful lot.}

LIVERPOOL are facing a hefty loss on Alberto Aquilani as they prepare to pay Roma the final instalment of his transfer fee.

The Reds have a deadline of June 30 to hand over 5million euros (£4.4milllion) to the Serie A oufit.

That will take the total outlay for Aquilani, who was signed by Rafa Benitez in August 2009, to 20million euros (£17.6million).

The 26-year-old spent the season on loan at Juventus after an injury-plagued first year at Anfield.

The Reds hoped Juventus would sign Aquilani on a permanent basis but they have so far been unable to agree a deal.

Juve failed to take up their option to buy him for £14million and the ECHO understands they were only willing to offer around £6million.............

So lets keep him and see if Kenny can get the best out of him.. The way I see it we have nothing to lose.

afternoon eds, I've been a long time reader of this site, gettin a bit tired of stupid rumours so I thought I'd have a look at the manure and citeh pages.it turns out they're as delusional as some people on the liverpool page.we surely cant all be signing aguero, neymar, mata etc!!!!my question is this, how do you not go stark raving bonkers answering the same questions over and over and over again?

Henderson bid of 13 million rejected. Personally, I wouldn't want to go much higher for him. Sunderland want 20 million. Should we be paying that for an unproven player.
----------------------------------------------

Well look at what they paid for Carroll who has the same experience if not less than Henderson in the Premier League, but 20M would be the highest he is worth. If he wasn't British he would only be worth half of that

Perhaps Twitter rumours aren't so unreliable after all. I think it's great we're after Henderson, all this talk of British signings, yet we are only going in for the average ones. Understandable, considering all quality British players are already at top clubs. However, the exceptions: Henderson; Baines; Cahill are still very much up for grabs, and i hope we pull out all the stops to get these kinds of players.

02 Jun 2011 13:11:36
I think were should'nt spend to much money on a left full back Liverpool beat of Chelski, Real Madrid for the signing of Alex O Hanlon he scored 2 against Real Madrid and 1 against Ajax in an under 17 tournament in Amsterdam He's meant to be the new Gareth Bale.It would be a waste to spend big I think this lad could be in the first team in 12-18 months

02 Jun 2011 13:04:10
All I want this summer during the transfer window is that we dont spend all summer chasing one big player and end up missing out due to either not paying enough, or the player just not wanting to come in the end- as in the cases of figo/ barry, to name a couple.

02 Jun 2011 12:53:40
Its gonna be very hard to get the players like eden hazard, henderson mcarthy every player we are linked with or every quality player has a price tag 30 to 40 mill, I just SSN that chelsea got rejected for Pastore his club want 40m.

I cant see us getting many players with these prices

02 Jun 2011 12:52:23
Hi ed and all a question please when they say a club has put in a bid what does it mean, so does it mean the club has spoken to the player ?thanks it is regarding Henderson more specifically.

hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. So many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

02 Jun 2011 12:49:04
ed, it pretty obvious that players now days cost way too much due to chelsea, real and Man city over spending in the transfer window. Do you think they will be reduced again nd when?
thanks {Ed002's Note - One of the goals of the FFP rules was to try and bring equilibrium to transfer fees. French clubs add a premium (particularly Lyon) when selling to England. Now we have Malaga and Juventus looking to spend large amounts of money as well.I am not so sure it will end too soon.}

Hey Fellow Reds, I still expect these to sign:

Juan Mata (LW)
Diego Perotti (RW)
Sergio Aguero (CF)
Sylvian Marveaux (AM)
James McCarthy (CM)
Charlie Adam (CM)
Scott Dann (CB)
Juan Vargas (LWB)

There is definitley interest in Henderson, no bid made yet though. I expect a bid to be made today or tommorow in the region of £12-17million.

Just as an answer to some of james mcarthys critics on this site asking why we are signing him. In the most recent issue of 442 they did a special on the top players under 20 james mcarthy was included number 14. Just to put it in perspective number 13 was eden hazard number 8 was neymar and number 17 was mario gotze.

JAMES McCARTHY (WIGAN MIDFIELDER) allso done deal price to be agreed about £12 mill

JORDAN HENDERSON (SUNDERLAND MIDFIELDER) like mccarthy seen as cover for wide areas 1st off might have to go to £15 mill

ASHLEY YOUNG(ASTON VILLA WINGER) this deal allso close to completion £14 million

CONNER WICKHAM (IPSWICH STRIKER) £10 offer to go in soon

DARREN BENT (ASTON VILLA) £28 MILLION deal is the one nobody ever expected

no what your thinking £130 million will never happen but with
jONES £1-2 MILLION
DEGAN £FREE
KYRIAGOS £FREE
KONCHESKEY £1.5-2.5 MILL
AURELLIO £FREE
POULSEN £2-3 MILLION
AQUALANI £13-15 MILLION
RODRIGUEZ £4-6 MILL
JOVANAVIC £3-5 MILL
EL ZHAR £1-2 MILL
COLE £3-5 MILL
NGOG £4-6 MILL

brings in £32-£46 million in return

afternoon ed's! Summer is ere and de transfer market is starting to heat up! Would u consider it a sucessful transfer window if the following players signed.

Scott Dann
Jordan Henderson/James Mccarthy
Juan Mata
Enrique

02 Jun 2011 12:31:11
I ve posted a couple of times before, and have been reading this site (Great Job Ed s how many of you are there now?), for a long time.
I am, sadly, increasing disbelieving of some of the comments posted here.
I don t want .
We don t need
KK needs to sign better players than that.. etc etc etc

Perhaps we all need to take a deep breath for a moment!
1. With the new regime, transfer business will be very much behind closed doors, unless the sad goings on in recent years. As such, there will be a lot more rumours, because there will be a lot less facts leaked out. Of all the rumours of players, probably only about 1% are going to be close to accurate.
2. We all have a new regime that we all wanted. KK is at the helm and, clearly, will be driving the activity, to get the players he wants and the players he thinks are right for our club. That means right for next season, but also for years to come.
3. I have supported the club for 40 years, but I would not begin to post that KK is wrong looking at XYZ player! If KK wants a player, who am I, or anyone else here, to say he is wrong?
4. It is early days in the Summer. Qualifiers, U21s etc etc mean the real deals have yet to come. Yes it is fascinating picking up bits of gossip, imagining who may or may not sign, and that is after all why this site exists and why we all have it added to our favourites
5. We repeatedly ask the Ed s for an opinion, then crucify them when they give one, purely it seems because their opinion does not match the opinion of the poster! If you don t want an honest answer don t ask the question! What point would there be if the Ed s (and other posters) just blindly agreed with everything, just to keep everyone happy?
6. Look back in history. Look at the players we have bought. Yes we have bought some big names , but by far the most success has been achieved by bringing in talented players with potential, who have flourished and grown into better players. Yes Football is different today, money changes everything, but it is clear that KK is trying to mix big names with potential. Because we ve seen a player for 5 mins on You Tube doesn t make us experts on whether they are good enough for our club. They may not be, now, but nurturing talent is surely what we should be about
7. We can t compete with the really big money of other clubs, and we don t have CL football. This will, inevitably, rule us out for certain players. That is the modern game. That is one reason why a mixture of proven talent and potential is the way forward. Do we want £50M mercenaries who only care about money?

Rant over. Must be the unseasonal hot weather getting to me!!

RedBlackOsprey {Ed002's Note - II think there are about a dozen Eds but not all appear to be active. The one comment I have is that it is near impossible to keep transfer dealings entirely secret - as evidenced perhaps by the Henderson information coming out over the past couple of days. So all of this "Liverpool way - behind closed doors" is pretty much a red herring.}

02 Jun 2011 12:24:08
ed are these people just making up rumours about us agreeing a fee with aguero?

Matty {Ed002's Note - Yes Matty. No £63M fee was agreed yesterday. No £39M fee has been agreed today.}

ed, how much do you think higuain is worth? if carrol is worth 35 million {Ed002's Note - His worth is nothing to do with the price paid for Carroll and it is really not easy to speculate on such matters. If he were to be sold, unless it is part of another deal that perhaps sees him move to Juventus, or perhaps sees Aguero move to Real Madrid, I suspect he would commant a fee of perhaps £27.32M.}

Ive heard that shelvey could be loaned out to another prem team to gain more prem experience, possible desination west brom. People saying that you couldn't buy henderson, mcCarthy and adam! Well gerrards coming to the end of his playing time, people like lucas, meireles and suso could still end up abroad at some stage so in two seasons time you could end up with Adam, McCarthy, Henderson, Shelvey, Spearing and maybe Coady as the central midfield options in the squad, not bad.

Is it not suprising and enlightening to know that that most people "in the know" did not say anything about LFC strong interest in Henderson before it popped out of the news.
Advice: Wait for the transfers to happen and stop speculating

Wales {Ed002's Note - The transfer of Henderson has not happened.}

02 Jun 2011 11:59:47
Please can someone tell when the transfer window opens. {Ed002's Note - It is open for transfers between clubs plying under the English and Welsh FA and on July 1 for International transfers.}

Ed, really would like us to sign Jordan Henderson, after our bid was rejected, what are the chances out of ten of us getting him {Ed002's Note - I don't know enough about the deal at all. Sorry.}

02 Jun 2011 11:56:31
The Henderson enquiry is a result of one of three things:

1) We are genuinely interested in him
2) We are trying to make Wigan lower their valuation of James Mcarthy
3) We are increasing the value of the player as we know Man Utd have done this to us with Charlie Adam.

These are my opinions, it seems strange to go for Mcarthy then all of a sudden Henderson pops up. Its all tactics I think

02 Jun 2011 11:55:35
'No idea why we are trying to sign Jordan Henderson. We have plenty of central midfielders as there is.'

Henderson is a right-sided midfielder. He only played centrally a few times due to Sunderland's injury list. He is a wide midfielder though. I'd say he'd be a good signing. Seems physically developed for his age, he's young, has potential and is on the edges of the England squad. Love to see him and Mata. Whether this is possible or not, only time will tell. Interested to see where these Moukandjo rumours have come from, he's extremely average and 22. Whilst this is young, I do believe he'd be a poor signing. Very much a step down from the likes of Gervinho.

This is the best one I have possibly heard this window:
Liverpool to announce 45 million signing of Gareth Bale today.

Ed, I have read the owners are due in the UK in the next few days, that true??

the owners have a great little private plane they come over in. its a small white one. very smart. i work at the airport so i can post on here when i see it and you will know they are here. or go look for yourself its always visible from the viewing window.

The last time we had a League winning side was under Dalglish. Now I know football has changed, well, got quicker at least, different training, diets and all that, but just wondering if it crosses Kenny's mind if he thinks of getting a similar team and formation to what he had back then, for example; Grobbelaar-Reina, Hansen- Agger, Beardsley- Suarez etc? And thinking if he'll sign players accordingly? just wondering what people think?

02 Jun 2011 11:42:56
if we are going for both henderson and mc carthy, where are they going to be played??? i honestly cant see where thay are going to fit in, they are both centre midfielders and yet we already have gerrard, lucas, spearing, meireles and shelvey for centre midfield....if they came in it would be a wee bit over-crowded.

shelvey is still very young and needs playing time to get the best out of him so i would expect he will go on loan and we will save him for the future.
i can see spearing staying with a long time cos he will do anything for liverpool. but judging his performances this year when he got a run in the team its obvious he needs lots of playing time as well. so i can see him going on loan as well to be saved for the future.
lets be honest these players have lots of potential but if we want to get in the top 4 this year we need players with more experience.
i can see spearing and shelvey being part of a great liverpool team in 2 or 3 years.
good luck to them

Raul Meireles looks likely to leave during the summer. His contract has been under review recently (as part of the orginal deal to sign him) and Dalglish and Comolli have decided not to reward him with a new one. They are not stupid, they are professionals. They know that he is not as good as the media make him seem. They don't just see the goals he has scored but all of the anonymous performances and his inability to cope phiysically in the Premier League. He has been shifted out wide most of the time under Kenny to fit in better players like Lucas and Spearing. Meireles is unhappy about not being rewarded a new contract and will probably decide to look for another club. Dalglish and Commoli have decided to replace him with a younger British player like Henderson or McCarthy. I see people have been posting their concerns about the central midfield position being overstaffed, but the plan is to sell Poulsen and Meireles (and obviously Aquilani) and to go into the new season with 5 players, Gerrard, Lucas, Spearing, Shelvey along with a new signing.

Has anyone heard any more details on next seasons U19's 'Champions League' style NextGen Tournament.

The Official website has confirmed LFC are taking part - along with Spurs, Villa & Man City. Expected to be 16 teams playing in 4 groups of 4 H&A from August to December with the top 8 going to Abu Dhabi for the televised knockout stages in January.

Celtic have announced that there 4 team group includes Barcelona, Man City & Marseille. Anybody know who Liverpool will play ?

The Tournament is not UEFA sanctioned & invitation only - Celtic have exclusivity in Scotland for the first 3 seasons. The format is expected to expand to 24 teams next season.

There is a full launch planned for 2 weeks from now & finding any information on this is almost as hard as finding out who is going to sign for Liverpool this Summer lol

Anybody got any more details - in particular, who will be in our group....

thats a simple one ed rafa was buying barry to fill in at left back was never a threat to alonso , for what ever reason alonso did not see it that way and divide started there.

with out a doubt a left back of some description will be arriving at anfield this summer my question is who will back him up
AGGER/WILSON/KELLY 3 players can play there but central players
JOHNSON played well might be option but if kelly got injured back to square one
ROBINSON still not 100% 1st teamer needs time to adapt to prem life
KONCHESKEY pretty certain hes going to have the door hit him on the ass on the way out
so that gives us AURELLIO and INSUA with aurellios injury's record do you think insua will be worth a second look.

Robbie Fowler will be coming back to Anfield in a coaching capacity so he can complete his coaching badges. He will work with the youngsters in a similar role to what Didi Hamann did when he was completing his coaching badges.
Fowler wants to return to the UK, preferably to Liverpool as his family want to settle down again and his kids in a stable school education. He has approached the club over a role with the kids and they are keen to give him the opportunity.

Jordan Henderson, would be an excellent acquisition to our Squad.He can play in a number of positions and as already been capped by England.In my opinion he is a much better player than both Shelvey and Spearing.This is the type of signing we made in our hay day and one which we need.The lad has proven he can compete at this level and he's only 20, so he will make massive strides in the coming years.I hope he comes here, as I thought he was nailed on for United.

Jiminy Cricket

i also think he would be a great signing, i dont however think he is coming to us, steve bruce is fergies lil pal so if henderson is going anywhere its united

If Ramsey was available, from Arsenal I would buy him for LFC . He is a top quality player and his development was hampered when he broke his leg.
Arsenal would not let him go, especially if Cesc leaves.
he will be a candidate for player of year in the next 2-3 years.

02 Jun 2011 10:35:35
Quaresma coming to liverpool ? Is is problematic player. He have lost his great days. I would prefer if we target players like Young , Elia or Hazard

02 Jun 2011 10:31:31
It's gonna be a bit of a downer for most fans i'd say, but i think next year should be spend building, i know we're gonna have trouble accepting that we may have to wait another year for trophies, but i think it's a step in the right direction, i can honestly say we have a good chance of top 4 next season, but we need to build this team for the future, not just buy a trophy then let the club slide into a decline again, I think this is what KK is doing too, taking the right steps.

02 Jun 2011 10:13:13
Daily Mail - Higuain available for £15m! Their editor must be on crack! One of the best strikers in the world available for half the amount we paid for Andy Carroll?!?! Higuain is easily worth £35m+

02 Jun 2011 10:11:33
I think Dalglish is being smart in the transfer window. He is bringing in the foundations for the future with youngsters like Flanagan, Kelly, Spearing, and buying young like Henderson, McCarthy and the rumoured wickham. but he is also looking to support the present with Aguero, Young and Izaguirre. If his plan works it just means in coming years we wont need to spend big cos we will have a solid team with a strong young backbone. I keep hearing speculation of Diego on and off, I couldn't believe he moved from Juve in the first place as I consider him to be a class playmaker. Can you see anything happening with possibly signing him ED? {Ed002's Note - Aguero? Young? As for Diego, Sporting Lisbon, Galatasaray, Botofogo, Lazio and others will need to be beaten to his signature if Liverpool are going to get Diego. Whilst there is clear interest I don't know if Liverpool are any any sort of talks with the player himself - who is in Brazil. As an aside, I would question whether Liverpool should take a risk on a player who was thrown out of Juventus after a year (Juve taking a £10M loss on the transfer) and who has since walked out on Wolfsburg three times this year? I appreciate the situation at Wolfsburg is dire under Magath and the new regime. It would be high risk and I am not sure where he would fit in unless a central midfield player is leaving. Certainly Wolfsburg have found a replacement to target in the form of Niko Kranjcar.}

02 Jun 2011 10:10:14
What with todays rumours of Jordan Henderson signing, it shows that we cannot predict what will happen in this transfer window. I'm on here a fair bit and can't remember anyone mentioning Henderson. We can predict all the signings we want, but what matters is what Kenny believes will help us achieve our aims - and I will be happy with any signings he makes.
If the Henderson move comes off, it shows that FSG are prepared to spend whatever is necessary to get the players they want. If they're happy to pay £15m for Henderson, and £35m for Carroll, largely based on potential, you can only imagine they would be more than happy to spend even more money on proven quality.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Henderson play CM and RM. He fits the bill as a young up and coming English player however I have only seen him properly once against us at Anfield where I thought he looked quite good. Great site Ed's.

02 Jun 2011 10:05:33
I honestly think the one thing to push Aguero to pick us would be Rafa, He is supposed to be favourite for the hotseat at madrid and if he cant convince Aguero to stay I reckon he will boast the Liverpool setup seen as he loves the club? What do you think?

{Ed002's Note - He would be lynched by the fans. It is the equivalent of Dalglish arriving at Anfield and selling Suerez to Newcastle.}

02 Jun 2011 10:04:36
Ok so I'll apologise to the Eds first for adding to all the silly questions you guys get on a daily basis.

I am the person who put up the bit in Spanish yesterday about a 63mil fee plus Joe Cole on loan having been agreed with Atletico for Aguero and that discussion were due to commence with his agent. Source "Madrid News Today"

Well sorry to the rest of you but I put it out there as a test to see how quickly people will bite. "Madrid News Today" was completely made up (may well be a paper called that for all I know) and the last sentence in spanish actually said "How many people do you think will fall for BS this Ed?"

Without doubt it helped fuel the Aguero rumours again, I even say a post from someone saying on Twitter it says 63mil & Joe Cole agreed for Aguero.

Basically I would say to all you guys out there, please calm down. We all know Liverpool are interested in several players but we the general public are very unlikely to know anything concrete unless it is actually released by the club.

Just relax guys, some new players will be coming in, we all know this but right now we just don't know who (Like the Eds I'm wishing for Mata but not holding my breath until I here something official from the club)

Sorry again all but just goes to show you how any old g*bsh*te can fuel the rumour mill.

G-Force

{Ed002's Note - The problem is that a lot of the fans are gullible and things like this simply make matters a great deal worse. This is typical of the nonsense that we have to tolerate. You would do much better on KopTalk with such games in the future.}

02 Jun 2011 09:58:29
I can see that you want to buy Sergio Agurero. Well I don't know but I think he would be more likely to go to Manchester City because of Carlos Tevez, he are known to be good friends. Or he might go to Barcelona because of Messi! {Ed002's Note - Or Liverpool because of Maxi? Or perhaps playing with his buddies has no impact on the deal?}

Hi all,
I heard a few weeks ago that Owen was sounding out a last hurrah at anfield I rubbished it completely, it turns out it very nearly happened, he would've moved only united offered him a year long deal on better pay, he could have restored a little of his reputation, its over for him now.
*******
He was offered "pay as you play" by us, that was later converted into 20k a week offer.
Also, Fergie was all set to release him until the incident with Berbatov. He convinced him to stay for another year with the same 50k contract but a bigger payday at the end of it. I'm not sure that Kenny will be as interested next year, and there may not be a Carra in the squad to put pressure.
By the way, Wolves wanted to sign him and offered a crazy deal to lure him over.

hey ed
what do you reckon the chances of a 4-1-3-2

kus that givs us room for defensive mid aswell i could be

reina
johnson
carragher
dann
enrique

meireles

perotti
gerrard
mata

suarez
carroll

can you giv us an out of 10 mark of how likely these players are coming dann, enrique, perrotti, mata

please post back ed cheers {Ed002's Note - Please refer to earlier answers about the player's marks. I don't have the inclination to get in to any discussions over formations at this time, sorry.}

02 Jun 2011 09:38:07
I hope we play a 4-3-3 personally, a proper 4-3-3 will give us dominance in the midfield, also it WILL give us width, in a 4-3-3, the front 3 players are not 3 strikers, the 2 wider players will play wider roles and come in once they have recieved the ball in a wider position, and will link with the 2 more attacking CM's and CF. The way a 4-3-3 was intended to be played(dutch/barca), not really based on positional play, the front 3 will just run amock in the final third, chopping and changing positions and running every which way, imagine having Mata Carroll and Suarez as your front 3 with a young, smaller CF on the bench, Suarez recieves the ball wide, links with Gerrard and has Carroll to aim for, or Mata who has just drifted in from the left. A bit of passing in the final third would take most PL teams apart.

The Rumers related to Mata and Aguero only can be posible for Pepe Reina. he is a very good buddy with all spanish mate. like Vila, Iniesta, Xavi so Pepe can ask them to join him I Think they will personly intarest more. any sugetion Ed

{Ed002's Note - Aguero is Argentinean not Spanish I am afraid. I cannot see how he would be a "good buddy", sorry}

Ed, Maxi Rodriguez is good friend of Agueros and he even came to Liverpool for Christmas

{Ed002's Note - Right - but the comment was about Reina not Maxi.}

Quick question for you Ed002, with regards to targets and formations.

Forgetting the personnel themselves for a sec, do the indications that we're in for Perotti / Young / Mata / Downing etc, indicate that we'll play 4-4-2 next season with Suarez up with / behind Carroll, two centre mids and a pair of wingers?

Or are we more likely, do you think to play a 4-3-3, with Carroll up supported by two wide / forward men the way Chelsea play with Drogba supported by Anelka / Kalou?

I just think that whichever way you think we're going to play must have a huge impact on who we want to buy? {Ed002's Note - I suspect it will be 4-4-1-1 with Suarez having a free role. Perhaps the interest in a specialist wing back (Vargas) means the club may wish to focus on 3-5-2.}

I just want to state some facts here.

1). Aguero will not be sold to Real Madrid Fact
2). IMHO there are only four clubs he could end up at due to his fee. AC Milan, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea. In reality Chelsea is out because they have Torres and if they buy anyone it will be a target man. Milan cannot afford him due to fairplay, same with Man City unless they sell a load of players. Liverpool have a shout on this one if they want him.
3). Young is a likely capture for Liverpool. Fact is Man Utd have massive debt. They are spending already 17m on a keeper and not seeing any cash back in for van de sar, they have released Hargreaves and Scholes has quit which means they will be desparate for a top midfielder and my guess is they will go fir a schneider or modric and either of those will cost 30 million. End of transfer windowcgor UTD.
4). Mata could have several options, but I do not think Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man City are on the cards all of them have players for these positions and he would want guaranteed first team football Fact. The Italians of AC and Inter could be interested though. Again Liverpool have a good chance.

I wish people would look at the facts regarding the linking of clubs. Many of the big clubs are already fooled regarding the fairplay rules and spending big money on players can only be achieved through selling. Imagine UTD having to shell out 50 Million to replace retired players alone, they are already 500 million on debt!

{Ed002's Note - (1) I would not discount Aguero being sold to Real Madrid. (2) Why cannot AC Milan or Manchester City but Aguero because of Fair Play Rules? What makes you think Liverpool are different? (3) I think it is more likely that Young will move to Manchester United at this time. (4) Liverpool may well have a chance with Mata - but he will have other options. You seem to misunderstand the Fair Play Rules and your view that clubs are being "fooled" by such rules is I am afraid rather wide of the mark.}

02 Jun 2011 07:54:57
Ed any idea when liverpools pre season starts? Thanks Doesn't dalglish favour a 442 with either flank playing wide on occasion changing it to a 433? So players he would be after would be the likes of mata that play wide and through the middle aguero would fit that style of play dropping Suarez off to play off Carroll and aguero? Thoughts anyone?

Took someones advice and had a perusal over the Manc's and Citeh rumours page! My god i haven't laughed so much in my life! Just watched Istanbul video for the millionth time and through the tears it's made me realise:

a) if there is a Hand of God in football it was Jerzy Dudek's - there is no way on earth anyone could save a powerful point-blank shot from what was the world's best striker without divine intervention.

b) Rafa brought us European glory, shared tears at the Hillsborough memorial and loves the club. The man IS a legend.

c) from the thousands singing YNWA at half-time to the never-say-die attitude of SG and co., we truly support the best team in the world....by far.

Looking forward to future glories

ed what do you think will happen with regard to youth players breaking through this season? Pacheco seems to be losing momentum with his development but do you think there will be a john flanagan coming along this year making an impact out of the blue? the likes of Adorjan or Suso or maybe Coady? cheers, great site ....
Belfast Red {Ed002's Note - I suspect Pacheco may move on. There will no doubt be younger players who will progress to occasional games with the first team, perhaps in the League Cup. Others may go on loan to gain experience.}

What striker would you say is most likely to join ed? And is there anyone who you think is a done deal or will be soon? {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to answer that I am afraid. You see, what if Liverpool fail to offer enough money for a target; what if his club won't sell; what if the player won't move? Any answer would be entirely subjective.}

Life sucks sometimes, hearing news that Comolli has inquired about Jordan Henderson ffs. We have enough central midfielders and with Aquaman coming back, more than enough cover.

I know it's a bit naff, but it's Sergio Aguero's Birthday today (June 2nd) so, how about all us Liverpool fans who are on Twitter dropping by to say "Feliz Cumplanos"??

Re: Aguero and Maradonna! I sincerely hope Maradonna is not Kun's uncle as Kun has a child with Maradonna's daughter - now that (we) could get Messi.

Everyone knows Aguero is Maradona's dad

sheesh people these days

Joey Barton is 1/5 on to sign for Liverpool with Skybet. Can we do the same and tell Kenny to tell Joey (Prison No.713317) Barton to h*ck off?

RE: message posted at 17.55.04.
You are an idiot mate if you knew your facts you would know that aguero is maradona's son in law and grandfather to his son. and as aguero to lfc goes if he wants to he will sign if not no biggy lets just look forward to who we do sign and enjoy next season.....

If Aguero signgs for MCFC Tevez will stay where he is. They will play 4-4-2 next season.

Real Madrid are willing to sell Higuain for 15 million euros, would be a great strike partner to play alongside Carroll or Suarez.

No way that's going to happen. Real Madrid is not buying Aguero.

Ed when the Financial Fair Play Regulations are in order, then surely City are going to fail miserably when breaking even? Considering their ridiculous wage bill. Would their punishment be the following season without Europe?

Stone YNWA. {Ed002's Note - It'll be some years away and potentially there could be a ban after slapped wrists etc. Any attempt at transfer sanctions could land UEFA and expensive court case of course.}

This is not a rumour, I hope Liverpool get fowler back as a coach as he is not returning to aus. He could teach a lot to are young attacking players as well as suarez and carrol, he was known for his natural goalscoring abilities and his positioning was second to none. What do ya think? Heard anything?
