Don't be slagging England off boys!!
Its our country

Except those who live in acountry with a crap
League and have to support another

Liverpool ENGLAND remember!!!

It's the Queens country mate. It's not ours. We don't have our say. We're just sheep. Baaaa. It's like the Sheep banging them drums at today's match. Says it all really.

DaveyBootle

But slagging off England(sports wise) is literally one of my favorite hobbies, I am from a country with a crap league, Ireland, we see slagging England's football team as a national pastime, it's a bit of an obsession for us, see we don't like England being better than us at anything, and your media are way better at slagging your national sports team than us so we just keep trying.

Samson Rasher

Yeah because the Queen secretly runs everything . . .
I think you might be confusing real life and Game of Thrones

Really? What's the national anthem? The Liverpool and It'd players get slated for not singing that nonsense. Says it all. Let the little Englanders and arrogant press support that lot, the glory of playing for England faded Years ago.

DaveyBootle

Wise words daveybootle. The English Queen (i.e. not mine) is the matriarch of an anachronistic system (google it) and as such has no cause at all for celebration. Think for yourselves already!

{Ed016's Note - To be honest, she personally has done nothing to harm. She has no power, she pays her taxes and she did dedicate her life to her country. Obviously the rest of the royal family is a joke. But She's just a Nan at the end of the day, the royal family would have nothing to do with current issues in society, has been a long time since we saw the feudal system mate. Look to the crooks in ties at parliament and the world bankers for evil}

The queen is a gangster, lives off r taxes and does nothing but wave at people! lol

Can't believe people are slagging off the country and it's royals..
They might not be perfect but that's OUR QUEEN and OUR COUNTRY.
I live in a land were I can watch TV freely, enjoy my sports, go to hospital and get treated.. I have a car, house, constant supply of electricity and gas. I can freely go the shops whenever I like. I can joke about my country even my own religion. I'm not worried about getting shot by the police or an army raping my family. I live in peace.
I don't have an idiotic president or a dictator in charge.
I can even write in forums and freely brouse the Internet.

In this country we take for granted the things we truelly come to love and we want more then slag of the things we have.

I for one love my country and I'm extremely proud to be English and British. I would rather have a lazy arse royal family than some president any day.
Our History is both good and bad but at least it's ours. {Ed001's Note - sorry but she's not MY queen, she was lucky enough to be born into a privileged family, that is all.}

She pays taxes with your money there fortune came from you taxpayers

Spot on Ed016.

Ozone {Ed001's Note - he is far from spot on, she does have powers, many that she might not use, but she does still have them.}

We're r u from Ed001? {Ed001's Note - Bootle, why?}

She rakes in billions in tourism each year. Id Rather have a Queen or King than a President or General that's for sure.

The French treated their Royals the right way!

Do any of you who love the monarachy know who WATT TYLER was? He was a greater English man than any inbred dumb Royal

SERFS YOU ARE AND SERFS YOU SHALL REMAIN

Can anyone tell me why downing gets picked for Liverpool/England?

Because his job is at Liverpool F.C. / He's English

There aint too many other out and out left footers in england thats why......beggers cant be choosers and all that!

Because he is a very good footballer, about time some of you stopped jumping on the bandwaggon of slaggin our players and supported the lad. He may have had better seasons in the past but he hasn't become an awful player over night.

He's crap and doesn't deserve the shirt of either!

Because it's a cabal run by the F.A. , media , the clubs and the agents ...
oh sorry wrong meeting

02 Jun 2012 22:22:26
eds is it true SERIE A could be shut down for two maybe three seasons due to the alleged match fixing

rays of red {Ed001's Note - not likely to happen, it was a throwaway remark made, I very much doubt that will be the result, though it should be shut down. It is far too corrupt to just keep on going as it is.}

02 Jun 2012 22:21:44
Hi eds, there have been some posters on here saying that all the good football Swansea have played this year was down to Martinez (some in part, some in full) just wondered what you thought of this assessment? Thruthful of Brendan haters. Cheers {Ed001's Note - it is certainly not true, Rodgers changed the style from all out attack with no defence, to a balanced possession style. Martinez had them playing more like Blackpool, good to watch but won't win leagues, Sousa came in and failed, then Rodgers came in, tightened up the defence and improved ball retention.}

Thanks ed, informative as ever

Jigglypoof

Depends if it has a name and number on the back or no?

Personally I think that anyone wearing sporting attire who is not actively engaged in sport, is just a bit chavvy

Funky

I'm 50. I wear one

No number or name...

I did have one from when xabi joined...though I don't wear it anymore

Ask Frank Lampard

I have a feeling BR's first signing will be a Hollywood one?
StoneCold

Tom Cruise, David Beckham, Clint Eastwood, please give us a clue!

Maybe David beckham?

Square tomato

Jackie Chan... when Suarez hits the cross bar again and the ball looks like its going out Jackie will jump over the crossbar and keep it in and swerve it back into the goal

Selling
Cole, Spearing, Downing, Adam, Maxi.

spending; £46m - £50m
player sales; £20
Net spending; £26M - £30M

Who in their right mind would buy downing? {Ed005's Note - I'm sure Man Utd or Everton would be seriously interested in taking him then loaning him back to us considering the great job he's done at Liverpool.}

Just go for afellay twice the player dos santos for an extra 2m

Add Fellaini to that list mate @16mil and I think you're spot on with your list.

Agree get Affelay instead of Dos Santos and will be a good list of targets.

02 Jun 2012 21:48:31
we need a goalscorer and you dont need to pay big money for one last year look at the yakubu 17 goals now im not saying buy him but i am saying get defoe proven in the premiership. he is someone who would play on the shoulder of a defender a natural goalscorer. what do you think?

02 Jun 2012 21:41:26
At least people who are watching England can see the style of football we had to PUT UP WITH.

They slated us for not liking it and making our opinions known.

It is so boring to watch and each game is play not to lose, don't worry about the ball just make sure you stay in position to make us hard to break down.

Errrrrm we won. End of!

02 Jun 2012 21:19:14
Hi eds, would the widely reported ban on Liverpool FC signing Swansea City players, be legally enforceable ? {Ed001's Note - yes, we agreed the contract.}

It isn't a ban, it's an agreement between the two football clubs, it is valid for one season and so is not necessary to break the agreement. Don't worry, LFC have plenty of options in the transfer Market, I would expect 2-3 signings, players who are technically good and composed on the ball. Sigurdson

02 Jun 2012 21:18:47
Ibraham Affely was very impressive for holland tonight.

Yes he is a player i would love to see in a liverpool shirt {Ed016's Note - A big risk with his injury history}

02 Jun 2012 21:17:53

I'm gutted about hazard coming out saying he almost signed for liverpool but if liverpool kept that on the quite then I wonder who els there "almost" signing and also people question our ambition when it comes to signing players I gues that shows we are still up there with the big boys. And also I'm on my way home from webley now and dries martens was better then hazard and mirrelas looks like a prospect and dembele would be a good buy but felliane is just a fouling donkey stay clear of him adamlfc

If your going by that game. Felliani is better than Lucas.
AnfieldUSA

If you think martens was better than Hazard than you know nothing about football.

Ozone

On the game last night, Martens was better than Hazard. Tell me exactly why was Hazard so good, becasue he has made a name for himself. Other than that, he was ordinary last night.
He may or may not be a better player, but if you were to jusdge after last nights performance, Martens was better. You know nothing about football if you think differently.

02 Jun 2012 20:56:03
It feels like a complete new era now Rodgers has taken over and I am really looking forward to next season. It's great that we have a manager with a clear philosophy which is pass and move.

I believe we have appointed a top young coach and is going to do things his way. Also I believe all the negative press Fenway got was because the press really didn't have a clue who they was going to appoint.

Also Rodgers first press conference was class. All I want to say is good luck Brendan you have my total support.

Mighty reds

Well said

02 Jun 2012 20:47:05
I think these players could fit in well with pass and move football.

Rakitic
Elm
Strootman
Ilicic
Marvin Martin
Ander herrera
Muniain
Belhanda
Sissoko
leitner (Dortmund)

I am well aware we don't have interest in allot of them but players along those lines will be looked at in my opinion.

Affaly with 2 tonight all be it against a northern Ireland team without a single goal between them. Good to see him back to fitness worth a punt IMO..

Next season what i'd like to see
Reina
Johnson
Kelly
Agger
Enrique
A.Johnson
Gerrard
Henderson
Downing
Carroll
Subs
Bogdan
Carragher
Flanaghan
Spearing
Sterling
Drogba
Lucas

Let me get this right...............drogba in,suarez out think its past your bedtime you child.

ACHILLES.

Are you looking for us to get relegated?RedTurk

That guy Brendan Rodgers really has got some innovative tactics. I bet none of the other teams have thought of starting with 10 men!

redmersey

Na your alrite on that, not much improvement on last season there
5gold stars

Seriously what are you on?

Youd like to see us get rid of Skrtel and put Lucas on the bench?

And somehow we are going to sign Drogba on his huge wages and hes old completely against what FSG want.

Manno

I would rather see 11 players in the team, than 10.

After finishing 8th mate! I would rather we play with 11 out field players.

Clown of the week

02 Jun 2012 20:20:54
Brendan Rogers will give Adam, Downing and Henderson until January to prove themselves. If they don't improve they will be sold on and replaced.

Says who? Or is that an opinion? Don't want to sound rude there. Just wondering, Hendo must stay, he is now England international.
Bazzaa

He will not as time is on his side but not on theirs!!

Did brendan tell you this?

02 Jun 2012 20:17:43
I think even if we get no players in (highly unlikely i know) this team could see us do very well:

Reina
Johnson Coates Agger Robinson
Coady Lucas Gerrard
Suarez Carroll Suso

All ball players, all technically great and a bench including; Henderson, Kelly, Skytel, Sterling, Cole, Bellamy and Downing wouldnt look too shabby. Okay maybe not Downing!?

I would love to see BR play that team, even if it just for a cup game.

CQ

Player of the year on the bench?
5gold stars

Coady in nowhere near shelvey or henderson.

Sorry but replacing Skrtel, Enrique, Henderson and Bellamy with Coates, Robinson, Coady and Suso will not see us improve.

I have to laugh at the mirrior today reporting that that woy was watching hazard 2 years ago and liverpool done nothing about it now everyone and his dog knew this kid was good maybe woy is a genius r the mirrior owe him some good press now that he is not the liverpool manager anymore as its a manc loving paper and what is it with that t**t john terry with the socks up his legs theres apic of him in the back of the manc paper and you would think he has 2 plaster of paris' on.Good luck buck Tommy YNWA.

Like we had 20+ mil to burn when he was in charge. Likely he was one of Rafa's targets still on the list handed over to him by Cecil, much like Meireles and Suarez were. I can't wait for things to blow up in his droopy, downplaying expectationist face. 'we've got bigger fish to fry than the euro's, I'm thinking World Cup two years later' yes Roy because we're going to walk into Brazil's backyard and nick it from under their noses aren't we. What annoys me is how easy the press buy his bull without any hint of disbelief. Roll on the Euro's, I can't wait to see him reverse head butting the hoardings when it all goes tits up.

02 Jun 2012 19:40:44
I know as part of the deal rodgers can't try and buy any of his former players but does that change if another club makes a bid for any of their players? Is it not discrimination to say we'll sell you to newcastle but not liverpool..MonaghanRed

02 Jun 2012 19:14:54
evening eds fellow reds . if you go on newsnow liverpool
there is a picture of away shirt black and yellow .dont no if its computer fit but have a look .cheeers psv ps its the photo with players {Ed001's Note - it is from the website and is black to hide what it actually will look like until it is revealed.}

Are you sure ed, i saw a photo a the shirt on a dummy and it looked black and gold to me. if i can find the photo i will add the link.
huddz red {Ed001's Note - go to the shop on the official site and have a look, it clearly states the new kit will be revealed on the 4th.}

It has got grey panel down sides and around front of neck. Just have a look cheers psv {Ed001's Note - sorry, thought you were talking about the plain black and gold one without the sponsor's logo on. So many people seem to think that is the new kit!}

Are you sure it's black. Looks more dark dark greenish black, if that can be imagined, with grey like you said and yes, it looks to be the real one!

AG

Yes a lot have thought that is the New away kit!!
Even though it as no sponsors name on it

I would like to thank woy hodgson for putting my teething baby to sleep we have tried rings painkillers walks and drives to calm me little lad down and nothing but screaming 10 minutes of hodgson England and out like a light long live king woy
Kiss the badge YNWA

His team's performance put my four year old and me to sleep this afternoon aswell. This isn't a joke either. Sends a chill down my spine watching England at the moment as it reminds me so much of how Liverpool played under him.

02 Jun 2012 19:05:30
Steve "interesting" Davis
Eddy "the eagle" Edwards
Ricky "hit man" Hatton
Wayne "overrated" Rooney?

Come on guys. He may play for Utd and he might not be the best role model but on the football field he is a damn good player. I'm glad he is in the England team but boo him when he plays in PL

02 Jun 2012 19:04:22
I don't want Vargas, he eats far to much food.

Square tomato

What ur food

Just because the guy has a different build doesn't mean his fat etc...the guy is just built.

02 Jun 2012 18:57:02
I personally feel that andy carrol can fit well into the new BR style football we all want to see. Think about atheltico bilbao. Llorente same type of build and i think carrol has shown he is capable of playing on the floor ( FA Cup final goal quality turn on terry ). Then we could have suarez out wide with another signing like muninain/Rameriz/Sterling.

Then have seniors - gerrard/adam/lucas/ Young - shelvey/suso/texiera

Think it could work well if the players are willing to learn this new style. I think BR is a very shrewd manager and will get what he needs in a transfer window as budget is not really a problem for him now. He just wants players that are talented and hungry and their is plenty of those around.

What does everybody think?

Did you mean playing on the floor or staying on the floor?

02 Jun 2012 18:44:21
Well said ed this person is obviously in the drenthe fan club he is an person who moyes ran our the club some people watch a few matches all of a sudden they are the font of all info

02 Jun 2012 18:37:26
Please post this.

Now that we have got our manager who I might say am very happy, especially after his interview and press conference, which showed he has a true knowledge about football and true knowledge about our club. With him stating he would like to bring his exciting brand of football to this club he will have bring in 4 to 5 new players to the club.
We will need players with ability to pass a ball, be creative and agile, have the intelligence to move into space and most important we need pace in our midfield and wings. If you look at Liverpools core of the team in Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Gerrard and Suarez we need to build our team around this. Players like Spearing, Adam, Kuyt, Maxi, Downing, Cole and Aquilani maybe just not good enough or time to move on.
We know we can't buy the best in the world due to no champions league football and not being as wealthy as Man City or Chelsea, we need to be realistic about our targets and be careful so we don't waste our money like last year.
What we need to buy is an Attacking Midfielder, Defensive Midfielder, 1 or 2 Wingers and a Striker. I would like to see Liverpool sign Adam Johnson, Moussa Dembele, Luuk De Jong, Mohammed Diame and maybe Markel Susaeta with Sterling may fill the void.These are probably realistic and will bring quality into our team. I would love all the ridiculous names that get brandish around on here, but I always think look at Newcastle they got Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Ba, Cisse, Santon (loan). These all cost a combined 21.5 million. I think that list above I named could cost us 50 million. With the owners having declared money is there and the fact we will sell some players too. It could be a net spend of 30-35 million. I also would like to see Sterling be used more and with Brendan Rodgers known for using his youth set ups it could save us money if we use our youth squad more.

Thanks Markolfc85

02 Jun 2012 18:37:13
Is any one else really excited by Brendan Rodgers! He is really pleasing me the way he is presenting himself, no wonder when he said no DOF, FSG Listened to him!

Every interview I have seen he is getting me going, bet he will be brilliant with the players!

P.S How bad are England? So negative and boring

G BOX

02 Jun 2012 18:36:45
Everyone keeps saying that AC is better with the ball at his feet than he gets credit for but if you want a big man with great touch and great feet we sold him, Crouch

Crouch spent most of his time with us on the floor

Can those who disagree please explain what they are disagreeing with in this post?!

Chris in Tamworth

For a tall bloke, Crouch didn't seem to challenge for many headers.
He is also very small framed and lanky, meaning he had no power and was easy to knock off the ball.
Then there is the fact he made Hyypia and Carragher look like they could give Usain Bolt a decent race.

Crouch loved to foul, terrible, i hate watching him play

02 Jun 2012 18:32:01
Raina kelly agger skrtel Johnson with Joe Cole Lucas and Gerro in the middle with carrol luis and Sterling upfront

play 4-3-3

on the bench

downing
Enrique
Shelvey
Bellamy
Robinson
Henderson
Jones
Flanagan

we dont need to spend money what we have is a bunch of underachieving over paid superstars who need to learn to play together and their is no need to spend money unless someone really special becomes available
if we sell

Maxi
Kuyt
Spearing
Adam
Aquaman

we might not make that much but we would knock quite a bit off the wage bill freeing up money to be re invested in academies in South America and Asia
and try and pip the like of barca and untied from getting all the very best young players

i know it seems hard to believe but rogers is a very gifted manager and the football he could bring to liverpool can be exciting and fast flowing pass and move stuff and with the likes of Cole & Lucas playing in the middle it gives gerro that space to play behind carrol and luis where he is at his best and most dangerous

ramythered

I kinda agree but i would spend to replace joe cole, maybe gaston ramirez or Eriksen if we have the funds and we can get them also i think sterling has the potential but maybe needs to bulk up a bit more.

02 Jun 2012 18:20:11

02 Jun 2012 18:18:17
Hello Eds,
is Liverpool still looking for DOF? I heard a rumour - don't know if it's true - Rogers took over cos he got assured that he'll make the decisions. thanks. {Ed005's Note - They are seeking out personel to become part of a management team at LFC.}

Could tixi be in the management team?

02 Jun 2012 18:07:53
Is anyone else as relieved as I am that a 12 month clause has been implemented? Swansea has decent players but not at the level we sorely need.

Well said , we need special players.

02 Jun 2012 17:56:02
Any news on joao teixeira? Is he playing again yet and what chance for a first team push next season?

I'd say he would and suso and sterling and toni silva if they don't get loaned out

02 Jun 2012 17:35:21
Was do you think we will sign any of the Belgian players. They are on telly st the moment? :) Ha

R@

I hope not, they look as bad as england.

Just shows how important the right manager is eh. With the talent on display in both teams today can you imagine a top young manager getting so little from them? So predictable, so boring yet some great players

02 Jun 2012 17:33:37
dries mertens looks a good little player

Motd fever

It was a shocking dive he did rolling round like that

38 goals in 39 games. Don't think he had just ONE good game.
AnfieldUSA

That was bast dost Mertens had 21 this season.

02 Jun 2012 17:25:07
Wonder who will be coming in to strengthen the LFC squad i hope it will be:

02 Jun 2012 17:09:07
hi eds, I have a question and that is now that we have brendan rodgers and he likes the pass and move game, would carroll fit in and would brendan sell him due to the fact that he wouldnt fit in?

thank you
Red Star's {Ed005's Note - I'm not sure if he would. Maybe he could be used abit like Drogba at Chelsea? It is really hard to say. If I were to hazard a guess I would say Rodgers will keep him.}

The fact that you used the word hazard shows you have some top secret info that we are hijacking chelsea's deal and his next tweet will be 'in 2005' ;) {Ed016's Note - LOL not a chance, why would we want him?}

02 Jun 2012 17:07:16
Hi Eds.

Any idea when the club will announce their pre-season schedule?

Surely a chance of us playing at Fenway Park in the 3rd week of July before coming back for the Europa League first leg on Thursday August 2.

Would fill the joint up. Good to see FedEx got over 65,000 for USA V Brazil even if they did cop a pounding.

I'd like Ed's thoughts on possibility and who you would like us to play at Fenway. Thanks.

BrentOZ

There was talk of the following fixtures, but i can't say if they are definite.

July 21st “ Liverpool vs Toronto, Rogers Centre, Toronto

July 25th “ Liverpool vs Roma, Fenway Park, Boston

July 28th “ Liverpool vs Tottenham, M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore

02 Jun 2012 16:50:01
ive posted the new lfc away kit on the sightings page

Is it black? {Ed001's Note - the pics are only black until it is revealed, it might not actually be black!}

02 Jun 2012 16:48:58
I know it's very unlikely Eds but don't bite my head off, but Thomas Müller is an exceptional talent and world class, despite only being a young lad. Is there any chance he could be available this summer as Bayern are buying wingers and forwards in abundance this year despite not needing them; Shaqiri, Dzeko, Elia {Ed005's Note - I highly doubt it. A vital part of Bayern's future.}

02 Jun 2012 16:42:02
Can't see us getting anything over 20m for Suarez if/when we do sell him.
His footballing ability makes him worth more but we won't get it from anyone and we look like we really want rid.
Too much trouble.
I can see him going to Spain, maybe Italy if all the clubs who can afford him don't get relegated or docked points again.
Javier macherano was worth more than what we sold him for but his attitude dragged his price down.
I think whoever replaces suarez will be our biggest/most expensive signing this summer.

What does everyone think he will go for if he does go?

MIKEY

What possesses you to think his attitude is wrong - if we had 11 players putting the effort that lad puts in we would have no problems whatsoever.

And as for a price - if Torres was worth 50 million in the form he was in - why would Saurez be worth any less?

John B

Mikey
Will we add that money to the kitty

Chelsea will give us 50m - they usually do

02 Jun 2012 16:41:56
I can honestly see us getting Muniain and Gaston Ramirez. Both players suit BR's style of play. Muniain and Gaston both speak Spanish (as does BR), and Gaston might well be attracted to LFC because of Suarez and Coates. Obviously I don't know who our signings will be but I do have some bit of hope and feeling those two may very well be on BR's Shortlist. Remember we need a winger maybe 2 and a creative midfielder (both Muniain and gaston suit this perfectly) plus a backup for Lucas, second striker (maybe someone like luck de Jong or (jackson Martinez-who's a fair gamble given hs talent and low price). I hear we need cover for Enrique? TO be honest I'd just play Johnson left back and Kelly right... But I'm not manager. Either way there are sooo much talent out there who at first might seem like average signings but turnout to be brilliant. I'm keen for deadline day so we can all evaluate who Liverpool purchased and express our thoughts on them!

Cheers lads! YNWA

How ROdgers likes to play I reckon the Joe Cole could be our missing link especially in a 4 1 2 3 formation Cole Carroll and Suarez as a front 3 with Gerrard and Henderson behind and Lucas a lil deeper. All players who will work hard when not in possession. I can see that working really well. And have Kelly and Enrique overlapping adding the width.

Nice guy but I hope not. Cole is getting one bit now and if we have brought in a young manager to build for a bright future then I hope we get some bright young talent instead

Im really looking forward to see how things go for our club under Brendan rodgers. I hope he can walk the walk as well as he can talk the talk. Welcome to anfield you have my full support.

02 Jun 2012 16:32:47
hey newcastle fan in peace! i was wondering ed what will happen to Carroll since Rodges has come in because he plays the wrong style! thank! {Ed005's Note - I was thinking that myself mate. I think Carroll is better on the ground than people think myself and it could work but everyone knows his presence in the air is his main trait. Hard to say, perhaps Rodgers will move him on.}

Bilboa as an example sometimes it's very good to have that other option carrol should play on the last man and Suarez etc should play around him

Just for anyone interested the 3rd Qualifying Round Draw for the Europa League is on July 20th.

{Ed001's Note - this cult of Rafa is embarrassing! Move on, we will get to watch some good football again next season, something we didn't get to see very often with Rafa in charge.}
-------------------------------------
I love rafa but don't want him back its time to move on but what I can't get my mind around is that fact that the drum we keep on beating about beautiful football.
Football is about results first and when after you win games a flow comes and beautiful football starts.
Look at arsenal all beauty but no cups to show.
Barca is a exception but their beautiful football was worthless when they lost against chelsea.at the end its about putting ball in net.
All champions win ugly 1-0 when not playing well that's how titles are won.
We don't want to become like last season all fiz without real deal that got us 8th place with what 40 points of top.

I pray to god we win some early games even if ugly 1-0 and then we can build up confidence of team and play beautiful football.

Its just my view which is different to ed001.

Red indian

Have you ever watched stoke red indian i agree with what your saying about winning the odd game ugly but for the life in me i could not watch stoke week in week out its the most horrible football ever played and would hope we never played maybe more than 2 games a season like that as long as we win the 2 then it might not be too bad but how stoke sell a season ticket is beyond me

02 Jun 2012 16:26:04
Hi guys, great site. Was just wondering if theres any intrest in feyenoords Jordy Classie. Would suit Rodgers' style very well. In my opinion he's a few levels above Joe Allen. I know he has signed a new contract recently but surely he'd be interested in coming to Anfield? Thanks

Jordy clasie is a mixture in playing style of lucas and alonso he would suit LFC down to the ground and by all accounts BR was having him watched last season I really do hope we get him

02 Jun 2012 17:04:31
Poll on Luis Suarez's?

Agree= Stay

Disagree= Leave

Am putting a banner at Anfield my self on my return the first thing to do " KEEP SUAREZ"

NO TO SELLING SUAREZ

Bosco

It comes down to whether the owners trust suarez to control himself next season. The Evra incidents did great damage to our club and they will not want a repeat. Personally I hope he stays, he's a terrific player and our only out and out flair player too, but if someone offers something near the £30m mark, I wouldn't blame anyone if they took the money.

And replace him with who?

It really depends on how much and what replacement we get. Lavezzi and like 10m to add to the spending money then yes. But 20m and dyer bought, then no.

To clarify, with the change in management, essentially all of our transfer plans have changed.

Not saying LFC won't be interested in the de Jong's and Ramirez's, but give the Eds a little break...it's nearly impossible to know what's going on right now.

Have faith.

Hey Ed016,
I was wondering if your opinion on Suarez leaving is shared by the others eds, or yours alone. It really would be a shame if he left from the incident and the awful handling by the PR group. I was looking forward as to how BR was going to use him on the wing in a 4-3-3, especially because excels there for uruguay. Anyways cheers and thanks for the answer in advance

Koopa Troopa {Ed005's Note - With all respect to Ed16, he isn't an ITK.}

Ed16 Are you gonna take that ?
#BANTER {Ed005's Note - By no means am I having a dig at him. Ed16 is a great guy though, I think people on here like him a lot more because he talks to the fans in a good way.}

Ed5 we all need it straight on here.
Not just what we/they nerd to hear!
Keep up the good work Bad Guys!!!!

i like the fact that Rodgers has said there will probably be a few players coming in and not hiding it from the media (even though everyone would have known that there will be players coming in)

02 Jun 2012 16:28:59
When will BR meet the Liverpool squad? Any idea if he has met Suarez or Gerrard yet?

02 Jun 2012 16:27:20
I think we should go for mario gomez quality striker

I think you need to wake its 4,27 pm

02 Jun 2012 16:13:24
I guess like me many Liverpool fans came away from games (especially home) last season really disappointed with a point or no points at time??

A fair assumption?

If this is the case, why can't we finish 4th or above next year? I keep hearing that we can't do this and we can't do that, keep saying it and you'll believe it, worse still the team will.

Fergie often uses this against his apponents(like city) saying the hardest title is the first one, he also done this with Chelsea ( until they won it) at which point he reverted to the hardest thing to do is retain it ( something I assume he will revert to in the coming months).

Anyway my point is,we are a few players away from having something very special at Liverpool, yes some players need to offer more, some need to move on and ALL players will need to adapt to BR's system of playing but let's stop talking can't and start believing!

Although a big Kenny Fan I'm 100% behind the new manager and as an afield crowd we need to offer the level of support that inspires our team and offers the extra edge.

Realistically our only chance at breaking back into the top four is by beating Arsenal and Tottenham to the 4th spot.

Chelsea have just initiated massive deals for Hulk (or will score plenty) and Hazard who will be tricky, as well as other players still to come in the door.

Man City and Man Utd will both strengthen, as will Tottenham and Arsenal.

But the latter two are going to find iut slightly more difficult that United, City and Chelsea will.

Truth is Liverpool need at least 4 quality players. You don't need Champions League football to get quality players, you just need to get the quality players before others see their quality and move for them.

Liverpool have become the sleeping giants of English football. Brendan Rodgers has been tasked with waking us up.

02 Jun 2012 16:00:29
Hi Eds,

As Swansea have a 12 month transfer block inserted in the BR deal, does this mean it was likely we wanted a player or 2 of theirs?

Many Thanks

JTR {Ed001's Note - it is more likely they wanted to be sure they didn't lose anyone else.}

The only players worth having were Vorm and Sigurdson and we can nab sigurdson as he ain't signed yet.

02 Jun 2012 16:00:16
Brendan Rodgers will be the best thing ever happen to raheem sterling...people say that sterling is too small to be a premiership star but look at what BR had done with nathan dyer who is about the same size if not smaller than sterling at swansea...fingers cross we will see a lot of sterling next season...exciting time ahead guys!!

I hope so, i believe Suso may be closer to first team though and am equally (if not more) excited about seeing him in BRs set up.

Seems that you are obsessed with size. There are people who can help you with this.

02 Jun 2012 15:59:39
People have said that carrol won't fit BR style, but I think he's better with the ball at his feet than people give him credit for, hell of a strike, he's not the quickest I agree but he's young and I think from what I've seen he has the time in his career to mould his game...

Lfcmatt

Too right mate, his hold up play and link with the wingers was what the fans appreciated him for last season. The goals will come but as long as he puts in a good days graft then thats what being a striker is all about.

Defending starts from upfront...

02 Jun 2012 15:49:34
I have to say i am surprised to see how positive this page has become since Rodgers (or is Buck the name we are using now) took over. Even when the King took charge I dont remember it being this positive. Buck has charisma he most certainly does.

For anyone who missed it Brendan Rodgers was on talksport this morning I found it on newsnow Liverpool, it was an interesting 15 minute chat which you can listen to, Rodgers wasn't my first choice but he has won me round with his drive and ambition to make us great again, very interesting listen.

Chris

I just listened to the chat - the one thing I can say about our new manager is his burning ambition. This guy is hungry for success, and I mean really hungry! At the same time, he is realistic. He won't make drastic changes, a lesson he learnt at Reading. But the great thing is, our boys under Kenny are already playing pass and move, so he should be able to take it to another level.

And trust me, he can spot talent - Vorm is the best example, an unknown from Utrecht and now top-class. If he can find a gem from the lower leagues (Rhodes, perhaps) he'll get them.

No doubt it'll take time, but under him, I believe it's the start of something wonderful! Singred

02 Jun 2012 15:42:49
Ed001 do you think it's worth pushing for Max Clayton considering we have Morgan? I think Clayton is better but Morgan is good too, is it worth the money to get Clayton in or would you rather Morgan be given a chance?. Cheers

Square tomato {Ed001's Note - tough call, I personally would take him but loan him back to Crewe on a season by season basis. There is no better place for him to learn his trade than there.}

Agree with ed. Clayton, Nick Powell and Marco Bueno, I feel all these 3 are great prospects. Hope, we can get them. It'd be great. YNWA Trustme

Ye sounds good ed, maybe we could have that friendly they wanted to sweeten the deal.

Ed it makes me feel my age when the new manager is only a couple of years older than me :(.

I remember when I was the same age as players an I'm 36 now... Gutted lol {Ed001's Note - I know the feeling!}

Same mate, I'm starting to think I'll never become a pro footballer!

I started to feel old, mate, when the players were all younger than me. I began to feel really old when even the referee's were younger than me.

As for Managers, well, at least I'm not as old as whiskey nose yet.

I am looking forward to the summer and also to next season. Now, to everyone who all of a sudden believe top 4 is a must, take your head out of your arse, it is not a must, an ambition sure enough but not a must.
Look around Europe and you will find extensive proof that gaps in class are closing in leagues, most notibly in England. If Tottenham and Newcastle keep their players and add a few expect them to push for top 4, along with Chelsea, United, City and Arsenal, thats 6 teams who were all better than us last season. Now tell me, who out of those is going to drop out of the top four to let us in, bare in mind you need 3?
Next season I would be happy with 5th, Semi in one domestic cup, quater in the other, doesnt matter which in which and also quaters in Europa league. Think im being unambitious, im not, im being realistic.
Most of our fans seem to look at us and decide thats it is singulalry in our hands to get fourth, its not, even if we do all we can there are 6 other teams who will be doing the same. I do expect Newcastle to drop off, but who knows, they do have a good squad.
I would want top 4 within 2 seasons but understand it will be hard this season, especially considering how little time Rodgers will have with the team with many of them away at internationals currently and also a fair few expected to be named in Olympic teams.
Im not writing off our chances of top four, it is still an ambition, but I would be happy with the above, it would be a massive improvement on this season.

Anfield Andy

A reply to James post easy m8 look buying big names and spending ££££ like mad is not always the right thing who was fowler / Owen / gerrard / Jamie c / wots was Torres b4 us yes we paid good for him but it was a big gamble go bk 18 months and people would have loved Carroll at are club so far it not gone to plan downing not my choice but same goes them two can only get better and if given chance they will I for one would like the best players but just before they on£ 200/350 a week ( not that ) it down to scouting network contacts getting there first etc not just throwing money away at players that just want the most ££££ we can do it we will do it I have hope and I know most 99.9 are behind 150% the club and manager and the way forward we got are part to play as well so let's try and do are side spread the word ov Liverpool faith ( we will be back ) at the top keep the faith my m8

Can't believe you thought Torres was a gamble - he was world class at Athletico. Do not make the mistake of giving The Waiter credit for spotting his talent.

John B

If Torres was that good why was he not at real or barce why did fergie drop out of buying him when he had first option raffa spotted his tallents and improved his game give credit were credit is due John B {Ed001's Note - Fergie did not drop out, Torres turned them and Arsenal down.}

hi all.
early last season i wasnt the bigest fan of luiz Suarez i find myself now thinking quite the opposite .
all this talk of him going disturbs me because he was the one that made every effort last season when others were just there to clock on .
i hope that he does stay he doesnt go to ground as easy now and his goal scoring has improved per oppertunity he gets.
sponsers ect should not dictate a team to us .
thanks all will go put me skid lid on now just incase i get a battering
mal...

02 Jun 2012 15:14:16
I know we finished 8th but we did have extremely bad luck and lots of injuries.
I wouldn't say it is unrealistic that our current squad is somewhere between 3rd and 6th best team in the league.
I mean, looking at other teams, Arsenal and Chelsea arnt really that far ahead.
With maybe 2 or 3 new additions and luck on our side i think we could seriously challenge next season should the manager be as good as expected.
I know Chelsea, City and Arsenal are meant to be spending big but I still believe that is all about jelling together that makes the winning formula.
I think we are an outside bet but worth a cheeky punt

02 Jun 2012 15:06:38
Eds, just a thought, trying to read between the lines, BR has more stated

1.relentless attacking football and of creating an environment at Anfield that will make opposition players long for full time

2.I want to see this great attacking football with creativity and imagination, with relentless pressing of the ball.

3.Teams came to Swansea and after 10 minutes when they hadn't had a touch of the ball they were looking at the clock. It makes for a long afternoon.'

based on statement 3, does this mean that teams will come to anfield again and park the bus happy to take a point. something i think BR is well aware of and will probably counter by the statements 1 and 2 which leads me to think, that the type of players we may look at to bolster the mid and forwards will be player of the ilk of iker munian. im not saying we will sign munian (happy if we did) but based on BR style of football and current squad, which areas and players do you think we may look to sign.

{Ed001's Note - he will want the kind of players that suit his system, those who play with their head up, that look to get the ball and give it quickly. But he will also want them to be able to take possession in crowded areas of the field and keep it. It will be like the old days, when we spent 85 minutes making the opposition chase the ball, until they were so tired we could overwhelm them.}

Adam is in trouble then if BR wants players who play with their heads up! I swear Adam must know how many blades of grass there are on the pitch lol

Be a bit worried if I was a red Moyes had Rodgers in his pocket twice last season.
Jab EFC

U should be relieved because Kenny had moyes in his

Moyes has been at everton for a long time and youse are just the same mid table team

gee man

But Liverpool have Everton in their pocket for 20 years! LOL

MR EM

And Liverpool had Everton in theirs!

And we had moyes in our pocket so he will be fine

I am great appointment

In ten years look at what Lfc under diffrent managers have won look after ten years what moyes has won at efc i think moyes must have very deep pockets to keep his hands warm

02 Jun 2012 14:53:07
Right so I want to say I don't think Liverpool need to buy many players with Rodgers style of play. He plays 4-2-1-3 and Liverpool have players for all of these positions.

He also plays in passing Triangles and this leaves a gap for Joe Cole to come back into the squad. Also, I believe Carroll will thrive in this formation the way Rodgers likes to play a big striker down the middle. And Henderson will be top Quality this season given more freedom to pass and move.

So I think one winger, a spare striker and maybe another creative midfielder.

So Adam Johnson, Sigurdson(Spelling), and maybe someone like Rodellaga or Holt.

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Lucas Gerrard
Cole/Henderson/Sigurdsson
Suarez Carroll Johnson/Downing

CorkRed

02 Jun 2012 14:45:33
Striker: Javier Hernandez, Luuk De Jong, Roberto Soldado
Right wing: Iker Muniain, Adam johnson, Ibrahim Afellay, Victor Moses
Attacking midfield: Gylfi Sigurdsson, Gaston Ramirez, Nick Powell
Left back: Mauricio Isla, Davide Santon,

Just wishful thinking, but are a few of these realistic?

Would've loved to see Kelly play today, just so he could add Hazard to the many left wingers already in his back pocket....

He's joined Chelsea so there will be plenty of opportunities to see that happen.

Hes not in the squad he was just in for that one friendly only players that can play are the one's in the 23.

02 Jun 2012 14:18:03
Why do people want Aquilani back? He's been taking the p*** out of the club for the best part of 3 years now. If we sign someone for £18m I expect him to at least want to play for the club. Get rid.

Yes. And to think that Rafa bought him with the money we got for Alonso! That makes it feel ten times worse!
KJS

Yeah fair doos, he a quality player but obviously don't want to play for us so get shut but for the right price. Don't just loan him out every season until his contract ends. Shame tho because he looked quality...
FowlerisGod

The only reason being we will be offered less thand 5 for him

And he bought him injured - you have to laugh at that. Great talent though, not given a chance, although was he ever fully fit.

Rafa didn't want or buy him

02 Jun 2012 14:14:38
I think we should go for the young man Christian Atsu from Ghana for the wings, kid has pace to burn. What do others think of this kid as i rate him highly and he will come cheap.
redl4fe

I am a Ghana and LFC fan. Atsu is a great prospect but he is highly untried at the top level yet. Though this would be a great find at a cost around 1m tops. LFC have shown an interest in Ghanain football in recent years so hopefully they know about him too.

Our club is now the laughing-stock of the premier league. ill always support liverpool.. but i cant see us getting anywhere but a mid-table team, espeacially with a manager like brandon rodgers

TG

I think BrEndon Rodgers might make it

You are not exactly supporting are you??
Complete HYPOCRITE!!

Then let's be thankful we've got Brendan instead of that Brandon fella'.

Jesus Christ give the man a chance!!!!!!

Try supporting us now then.
If mourinho gives you a semi then go support Madrid.

MIKEY

A thoughtful and eloquent post like this deserves a carefully considered and objective reply. Here it is:

What a c**k you are.

BigBadBen. (sorry, missed your name)

Actually I think you'll find that Brendan (NOT Brandon) Rodgers is a highly respected man and manager. Many of my mates that support top 6 clubs have said that it's a good bit of business by FSG( and no,they're not taking the mick). They're not liking the appointment because they're worried we may become a force(NOT farce) again.
KJS

U havent a clue!

You can't be a true supporter then back the manager and club beaut

Describe exactly what a Laughing Stock is - I can't hear anyone laughing about the appointment - it was only the media speculating what was going on - FSG never said a word - they kept it close and got what they consider their number one target - not funny - but very professional.

I can't see how suarez won't be sold
He has got about five other people sacked
Why would they not sell him
Its only a matter of time before he does something worse if you check his track record

What has Saurez done wrong? - or are you one of the people who believe Evra, an individual that the FA described as not telling the truth to them following a previous accusation made by him.

The only thing wrong with that whole affair was KD being forced to apologise.

ED01 I know you weren't happy with Kenny leavin but what are your feelings on BR?

I was impressed with Swansea last year and unlike Martinez his teams know how to defend, which is as crucial as positive attacking football.

It's probably too soon to be talking about signings but do you reckon we'll hijack the Sigurdsson deal. Do you also think the scouted players such as Phillips and De Jong will still be targets?

Papa G {Ed001's Note - I like Rodgers, he likes his team to play with a style that should suit us down to the ground. I am not sure what he will want to do, but I would expect him to know our weaknesses and be looking to fix them, and I expect him to give Sterling a chance.}

Spearing is a weakness (he keeps trying to do the dudek by waving his arms about and not tackling the player)

so is adam (can't control a game)

downing (won't attack)

kuyt (old/wants to move on)

maxi want to move on

in to replace
Jordy Clasie / Jay Spearing - £5m
Aquilani / Adam, + £5m
Boudebouz / Downing, + £2m
Luuk de Jong / Kuyt, - £9m
Sterling / Maxim, nothing
dos Santos replace cole, - £3m
Muniain need him, - £25m
Nicolai Boilesen need LB cover, - £5m

= £40m spent

Whats with this spearing bashing the boy plays for LIVERPOOL FC he has gone through the academy it is his first full season playing with the first team . I know he didnt have a great fa cup match but the boy may of been nervous I cant believe how many so called red fans are slaging the kid off give him a chance do you all want to be made to look like the idiots you were over a certain Lucas wind your necks in will you and support the shirt and the person in it will you

Hi, Eds. What about Mauro Zarate? seems to be a good player.
Ratan {Ed001's Note - not for me, flatters to deceive, tries to do too much whenever I watch him play.}

Do u think we are in a position to turn down the chance to sign a player thst all the top clubs want?

02 Jun 2012 13:34:20
Interesting battle between Lambert and Rogers next season.
I know Rogers has more of an advantage but I highly rate lambert and it will be interesting to see where Villa finish.

Ed whats your opinion on Lambert? {Ed001's Note - not sure, he has done well so far, but he seems to have a much more pragmatic style of play than Rodgers. He has a real battle on his hands to fix Villa though, they are not a particularly good side, MON left them in a hell of a mess.}

Do you think Pacheco could go to villa on loan? {Ed001's Note - no, I think it is more likely he will leave permanently.}

02 Jun 2012 13:28:06
with brendan rodgers friendship with mourinho i wonder will we get an option on real madrid cast offs or loans

Dont want reals or anyone elses cast offs we should be bringing on our own players !

02 Jun 2012 13:13:26
In some ways Liverpool are in a similar situation to Chelsea.
A mix of old players, young players, some good, some bad, a couple brilliant. Abramovich wanted a young manager and a long term project. It didn't work. It won't work at Liverpool either.
Liverpool need their own version of Di Matteo. To stabilise things. Then move on. {Ed001's Note - isn't that what we just had? Dalglish came in to stabilise things and now we are trying to move forward. Your post made no sense whatsoever!}

I think that chap is right. Although Dalglish was meant to stabilise things. He did initially, but it didn't work out. Which is a shame. He is still the King to me.
AVB was brilliant for Porto. Rodgers was doing well with Swansea. But won nothing.
I would have chosen Rafa on a short contract. Don't expect good results quickly. {Ed001's Note - this cult of Rafa is embarrassing! Move on, we will get to watch some good football again next season, something we didn't get to see very often with Rafa in charge.}

Move on to what !

We really need an agree with ed's button
riley

Why do the ED's allow such non sense posts on the site!
clearly this manc or chelski fanboy is jealous of the great young manager we got and is trying to show his frustration here..must be manc coz chelsea signed hulk and hazard so they should be happy for now..

Cringe.

Totally agree with the Ed. look it shouldn't have to come to some of us having to point out Rafa's flaws, he gave his all. But if people are going to look back with such rose tinted glasses they can't have seen how we used to play. Playing 8 defenders outfield (as Rafa once did) was a million miles from from the LFC way. let it go.

Liverpool is NOTHING like the situation Chelsea is in. There is no comparison whatsoever. LFC has a well documented history and traditions with amazing players and managers spanning decades and decades. It's a club in the true sense of the word, that has always been admired globally through the passage of time with various eras of managers and key world class players. Chelsea is in the Abramovich era and that's about it. And as far as Rafa is concerned, it's very simple. He had his shot. He did what he could with it, and it was deemed to be not good enough. And that's it too. It's time for the next guy(s) to have their shot. And if he/they don't succeed up to the club's standards then they'll get the boot too, because this is LFC. ra1969

Brendan Rodgers: "I want to use the incredible support to make coming to Anfield the longest 90 minutes of an opponent's life."

Just read this quote on the rumours page!!! What a quote!!!!

Rodgers has said a few good quotes and I just hope they become a reality. I'm so excited for the new season, he just seems to fit into Liverpool FC

You train dogs, I educate players, on and off the field....

that's my favourite, all it's missing is the grainy black and white footage and the Scotish accent.

Fitzy

Erm I can remember a certain new manager from across stanley park who I Quote { we are the peoples club } unquote. ten years down the line what have the so called peoples club ? a great big NOWT so quotes are all well and good results on the pitch are what matter so let Brendan do his talking through his football team .

We don't have the money like City and Chelsea . have to accept it. hope BR bring out the best from few young player we have in Academy. player Like Suso, Raheem , and Morgan can make a Big impact and that can take us to top 4.

Eds Andy Carroll was sensational at the end off last season. Despite his passing style of football, do you think Rodgers still has Carroll in his plans (he could play the same role as Graham did last season) ??
Great site, keep up the good work {Ed001's Note - yes, I think he will give him until January at the very least.}

Carroll was sensational? you are joking , did he fall over against newcaslle on purpose .

If Pepe Reina leaves who could we buy to Ba our keeper

I believe Robert Green is out of contract, not the best keeper, but not bad either and a definate upgrade on Reina's form last year.

Ba would be a terrible keeper....

Is this a trick question? buy Ba to be our keeper? or no keeper just put an extra stiker in Ba? lol

Rodgers has talked about the need for evolution not a revolution, I think this is correct, it's about steps.

If I was the manager the first obvious step is our 'home record'. Make Anfield the 'fortress' it was renowned for in the Premiership.

6 wins, 9 draw and 4 losses is not good enough and the team are more than capable of dramatically improving on.

Interestingly, Swansea had a better home record in their first season!

I could add other steps, but what would be your next step? Mine is 'Fortress Anfield'

I agree mate.
Let's hope the fans unite behind rogers.

I have been very impressed with Brendna Rogers so far. He came across very well in theinterview and said all the right things.

The only concern I have is that I hope he is strong enough to make the big decisions on when to say to some players that they will not be playing anymore. Tell them its time to move on. Few in particular that shouldnot wear the red again. I'm sure he will take time to assess the situation and not make rash decisions. But decisions will have to made.

Gazza

I believe he has already showed how strong his character and resolve is. He interrupted Ian Ayre to get his point across and also told the owners that in no uncertain terms would he work with a DoF, also telling them that unless he was the number one choice to be manager he would not even entertain the idea of an interview.
Seems like a very strong willed man, but with the man management skills to match, i also think he will build a great rapport with the fans.
Iv been saying it all week to my mates in work but I really think Liverpool have beaten the trend here and found the next world class club manager to match the likes of Mourinho, Guardiola (massively overrated) Fergie, Wenger, Hiddink. I think if we give him time to get the team to what he wants, i.e 2-3 seasons, he will be here for more like 10 minimum, because his drive and system of play are the future of the English game, and we will be at the forefront.

Someone lower down (I mean in the posts not the food chain) suggests we get a petition started to let the owners know they musn't countenance selling Suarez.
I like Luis and would keep him BUT he who pays the piper calls the tune. If the owners have decided Suarez (or anyone else) must go, then so be it !

The owners have to keep the sponsors on their side.

I honestly cant see why everyone is so happy with the appointment of Brendan Rodgers. I think its just because everyone was so against Roberto Martinez becoming manager that they accepted Rodgers to easily.

I just dont understand what people see in Rodgers at all, Shocking results when he was at Watford, Even worse when he was at Reading and he got sacked. By the time he took over Swansea they were already playing 'the swansea way' thanks to Martinez, Brendan Rodgers didnt really do anything to improve that Swansea team.

As for next season, I dont know what sort of names Brendan Rodgers will be able to bring to the club. Will we be after players like Sinclair, Allen, Siggurdson ?? They are not good enough for Liverpool, But i cant see us signing any big names at all.

Carragher should retire, He cost us about 15 points last season, Great servant to the club but hes a liabilty now. Stevie didnt play much last season due to injuries and now hes a year olderso i dont expect him to play more than 20 league games.

Will Lucas come back from his injury?

Will we be able to offload Henderson, Carroll, Downing and Adam? Still cant believe Kenny wasted 100m on that lot. If its true that Chelsea have agreed a 38m deal for hulk then they would have spent the same on Hulk, Hazard and Marin as we did on Carroll, Downing and Henderson. Madness.

There's a lot of talk that Reina, Skrtel and Suarez will be off. Id let Reina go, He's been terrible for the last 2-3 seasons. I'd love to keep Skrtel

As for Suarez, I heard the reason Kenny was sacked was because after the Evra incident, FSG were furious with suarez and nearly lost millions in sponsorship deals. Kenny agreed with Henry/FSG to sell Suarez this summer but when he went to Boston for his end of season review he went back on his word to sell Suarez and told Henry to either ''back me or sack me'' They sacked him

Personally, Id be glad to see the back of Suarez, I said when we signed him that trouble would follow and i was right, What some of person bites an opposing player? He spit in another players face, He cheated a country in the world cup and we all know what he said to Evra. No need for racisim in this day and age. Is Luis Suarez really the sort of player that we want at our club? Not for me im afraid, 20-25m and id happily close the gates behind him when he left

Im not going to talk about transfer targets because i honestly dont think we will be given much money after last season, All in all im very dissapointed with FSG, John Henry, Brendan Rodgers, The club

Not looking forward to next season.

James

James you obviously dont know much rodgers took over from paulo souza at swansea not martinez when he took over swansea were struggling souza had a 31% win rate rodgers came in took a struggling team made a few quality additions and elevated there style of play which got them promoted and as for player.s it doesn't matter who the manager is its the club that is important and the quality additions we will be adding to the recruitment team to help him get the players that can make the team better to be honest are you cetrtain your a liverpool fan reading your post you dont seem to like anything about lfc not the players or staff and saurez hardly cheated a country he gave away a penalty that ghana missed did saurez make him miss shout boo when he was about to strike the ball
the stinking truth

Whoever knows James should keep him away from the river, because in this mood who knows what he might do

Big names?? was Rush, houghton, barnes etc big names when they came. NO playing for us the way they did and winning consistantly made them big names....all the BIG NAMES people want had to start somewhere and weren't classed as Big named players ie Cavani wasn't heard of before signing for Napoli let's get players with potential and make them big name players that's the liverpool way and how is Hazard a big name player what has he won??

shanedub

You read too much into statistics and numbers there. Did you even entertain the thought that the quality of player he was working with at Watford and Reading were not great, and he did not have the funds to get who he needed/wanted?
We could not hope to land Hulk, Marin, Hazard at the moment, even if we hadnt spent the money, they play for the team in the best position to challenge for trophies, matched with the money also, so why come to Liverpool to challenge for Europa League and the domestic cups when they can go to Chelsea and compete for Champions League, Premiership, World Club Chapionship (possibly), both Domestic cups, European Super Cup next season?
We wont be buying Scott Sinclair or any Swansea players because of a clause restricting us from doing so.
Rodgers proved at Swansea that you do not need world class players to get results and play good football, you need players who work well in seemless yet disciplined and systematic approach.

Youw ould have had Moruinho I guess, who until Porto was just an assistant, or Guardiola who was given the best team in the world after being a coach and is now lavished with plaudits because the said team won a lot over the years when they were the best, and has now left when he has been overtaken by Moruinho Real?
Fergie was given a chance by a much bigger team, and has gone on to become the worlds greatest club manager.
Why dont you look at the fact that the Special One who would have cost the price of Andy Carroll to bring in reserves so much praise for Rodgers, and gave him his opportunity?
You seem somewhat dim witted with your approach and wisdom about our club, especially if you think the club will sell every player they bought last season? Henderson is for the future, like Stevie said, he wasnt the finished product at 21, it took a senior player drying up before Gerrard came into his own.

Anfield Andy

Youre one of those arrogant fans who believe that because we were successful 20 years ago, it gives you the right to demand to the likes of mourinho, guardiola etc. Wake up, we have no champs lge and Rodgers is a good coach with ambition. Give him a chance or go back to playing fifa.

Jaysus I think Brendan Rodgers is the right man for the job I didn't a first but after hearing him I can't wait his so confident I can see him bringing that to the players. And I'd also like to say that Tom Werner said some lovely things about the King which means his gone up one nock in my book ... Yeah his now on one

The more I hear BR the more I like him,he plays attacking football,he knows how to treat players.

Let's have some faith

I Can't wait for next season

02 Jun 2012 12:40:43
Now that BR has been installed as manager, what are our real expectations for his first season?

Understanding that this is the beginning of a new era, I would be content with a top six finish, a decent run in a cup, but more importantly laying the foundations of a more agressive attacking style of play, whilst maintaining our solid defense.

Interested in your opinions guys.

FT

Yes that would be a massive leap from kenny!.

Top 4 is a must
Tom Red

I would like to see us put up a fight for top 4; but not expecting us to reach it.

What I do expect though is to see us make Anfield a fortress, great football combined with a great atmosphere is enough to do so...

Stone YNWA.

The target will ALWAYS be top four! We are Liverpool, we dont want to be content with anything else! We are oneof the original top four which shows that is where we belong!

So if we don't impove on last season and don't make top four will you be calling his head?

FT

Top 4 is the ultimate goal but if we ended up 5th or 6th I'd accept it, as long as we had a decent cup run.

If we dont make it to the top 4 its a big problem but and its a big but evry thing realy dipends on the way the team kooks throw out the seson if the results are god than I well whant another seson with BR.
Tom Red

Our expectations should include to win games at home , red mick tag

My expectations are the same every season. Win the league.

If we dont make the top 4 but only missed out by a few points and brought it down to the wire I would be happy.

Quigz 23

I want to be happy when i leave anfield, and we have gone back to the liverpool way and won .

Top four listen you lot if you want to listen to quotes from brendan then fine but the original person who made quotes at LFC was Shanks and one of his best was first is first second is no where and you lot blab on about fourth place the great man would be spinning in his grave hearing that bullsh*t

EDs, what is your view on Rodgers in terms of the youth set up. In his previous clubs what has he been like when it comes to bringing the younger players through into the first team? {Ed002's Note - He was running the youth team at Chelsea but it was not his decision to put them in the first team.}

02 Jun 2012 12:14:58
ed any update on new stadium, naming rights, capacity {Ed002's Note - No and I don't know anything of a new stadium at this time.}

02 Jun 2012 12:32:13
Would be well chuffed if we bag these transfers this summer:

(FC Twente) Luuk De Jong - £14million
(Bologna FC) Gaston Ramirez - £13 million
(FC Sochaux) Ryad Boudebouz - £9 million

And if possible:
(TSG 1899 Hoffenheim) Gylfi Sigurdsson - £7 million
(Swansea City AFC) Joe Allen - £8 million

This would provide the attacking impetus that we were lacking last year and these players will be well suited to the pass and move style that Brendan Rodgers will instil.

These transfers would be at the expense of £35million funds from the owners and the sales of the following midfielders: Aqualani, Cole, Adam, Poulsen, Maxi, Kuyt, Spearing.

This would leave the following as our squad for next season:

Keepers: Reina, Doni, Gulasci

Defenders: Kelly, Johnson, Flanagan, Robinson, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Coates

Midfielders: Ramirez, Sigurdsson, Allen, Boudebouz, Henderson, Lucas, Gerrard, Shelvey, Downing, Sterling

Strikers: Suarez, De Jong, Carroll, Bellamy

This would provide squad depth that would be necessary for competing effectively on four fronts (Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, Carling Cup).

Cheers

Allen would just be another Charlie Adam for me....

We cant sign no1 from swansea, so how you expect to get allen

Reading on SSN Transfer Gossip section...it says Eden Hazard came close to joining Liverpool? Is that a cack, or where we in for a chance?

I would ignore most things you hear on sky sports news. Their main source of information appears to be Dave Whelan.

Its on sky its probably cack we didnt even bid for him and dont think we would have been bidding 36 million for him either

Im guessing the rumour has arisen after hodgson mentioned going to scout him when he was Liverpool boss during an England Interview yesterday

Sold Torres for 50M then our best player,
Sold Raul Meirrales for 10M on of our best player that season,

Got 60m, but money wasted on pure crap & never really replaced them above it finished way below expectations,

Now sell Suarez for called 30/35M pounds?

Will Brendan use the money wisely or wast it on crap just as how Dalglish wasted it or Keep him and build a team around him.

If Brendan has any guts he needs to hold on to Suarez.. season after season selling our best players where we heading .. kiss ass certainly not top 4.

Bosco {Ed001's Note - Meireles was far from one of our best players, he was awful and just had 3 or 4 good games! He has been abysmal for Chelsea too. Simply not good enough and we were lucky AVB was desperate to take him.}

Well said ed1
Lazy didn't like to put himself out in a tackle either

Lyndon

Completely disagree Ed, thought meireles had a great first season for us, was raging to see him leave {Ed001's Note - then you clearly didn't watch him play and shirk challenge after challenge, give the ball away repeatedly and be completely average at best.}

The 'crap' that KD bought are in the England squad for the Euros. I'm a bit fed up hearing that KD bought rubbish, yes, the players under-performed this season, but most of the team did. Does this mean that they are all 'crap'?
Shame on you

What a load of tosh, a wast of energy writing it.
Meireles ON OF OUR BEST PLAYERS, he was s**te for most of the season, scored a couple thats it, Torres was desperate to leave and was so poor in his last couple of seasons, and Suarez has damaged the clubs reputation and if he was working for any mill of the road company would have been given instant dismissal for his antics.
As for Kenny's buys, lets wait till next season to judge them, i think we all may be a little surprised.

Evered

Torres was never the same player after that injury before and during the world cup that was plain to see. Confidence, pace, touch and desire went still hasn't come back it's like he is constantly afraid of getting injured (looks in matches like he always nursing an injury). We got an excellent deal for him in my opinion. As for Meireles headless chicken always comes to mind he's a liability when on the pitch, can't tackle, no tracking back, passing at time is terrible and at best you'll only get about 60 mins or so out of him plus he wanted a pay rise. So again another excellent deal, wouldn't be surprised if comolli was trying not to laugh during the Meireles negotiatings whispering under he's breath "Can't believe their going thru with this". As for the reinvestment of that money Torres alone got us Suarez and Carroll give or take. Suarez was a good investment but he too is a liability with a bad attitude never takes responsability for his own actions and would probably miss 8 games per season due to his temprement. 16 games he was suspended for the last two seasons, 8 for racism for us and 8 for biting an opponents ear at Ajax. I think taking the money for Suarez is a good deal at this stage he can go missing in games and is greedy. Carroll in hindsight was a lot of money but take into account he had scored 18 goals for newcastle up until January of that year, could play in the europa league, was 1 of the 8 english players you have to register per season, newcastle were losing their striker at the end of Jan with not enough time to replace him and to be honest looked absolutely unplayable at times as we started to see towards the end of season and for england last Sat. Everyone doubts him but watch him for England most of his knock ons are from his feet not his head, his touch has improved and under Rodgers will no doubt better as training will now focus on touch, passing, movement etc. Best of Carroll is yet to come at the age of 22 still has a lot of learning to do, if you were a defender who would you rather mark during a game Torres or Carroll.....I'd mark Torres everytime.

shanedub

I will always remember Stevie getting sent off against the macs cos meireles pulled out of a tackle, the plank is no where near good enough for the prem

Yes I'm sure they will be cheering if Carroll and Henderson score in the Euro's.

Carroll at Newcastle was big n strong, defenders hated defending him, he was fearless, best header of the ball and with the sweetest left foot.. I can see why he was bought. He has such protential.

Henderson.. England under 21 captain, box to box player with bags of energy and was dubbed the new Lampard.. Again he's got great protential.

Its down to Brendan to bring out their game and show their worth.

Remember when we ( even me ) slated Benitez for constantly playing that woefull Lucas! Now he's a great player yet I don't hear you praise Benitez for him.

Stick by the two young lads I'm sure they'll show their worth.

Ed001 your delusional. i find it a joke how you can easily forget what a player has done and the impact he has had after he leaves. {Ed001's Note - or you are too clueless about football to understand it. Give it a rest oh nameless one, you are just making yourself look stupid. His impact was to bitch and whine about money.}

02 Jun 2012 12:26:54
I don't think that selling Suarez (that is if it does happen) would be a major disaster, personally if they did sell him and got in a striker who actually scored 20 plus goal a season then he would soon be forgotten. If Suarez had scored at least that many goals last season then I think we could've finished in the top 4.
Jud.

But suarez has the dribbling skills and creativity that just a goal scorer probably wont have. For me we need Suarez AND a goalscorer not both.

Jay

He would've had he not been banned for 9 games!! {Ed001's Note - isn't that half the problem with him?}

Didn't Suarez finish the season with 16 goals last season....

Even though he was banned for 11 games!

Well i disagree I'd agree if you swapped Suarez's name for Carroll's

Maybe I should have made myself clearer, when I said goals I meant league goals which he only got 11 of. That's a very poor return for a so-called top striker, for someone with his rep I would expect at least 20 LEAGUE goals.

02 Jun 2012 12:24:39
Out of all keepers around at the moment I would like to see Butland at Liverpool. At only 19 he is good enough to push Reina more than any reserve keeper we have had in the past 4-5 years. And then when Reina does leave we have somebody who is ready to step up. Id sign him give him all League Cup games and maybe even Europa League to keep him fresh, in match fitness and interested.

Hi eds and fans , I must say the appointment of brendan is good, way better than martinez in my opinion. For many games last season I kept admiring the style of play of Swansea, and once or twice I said I wish this guy would come over and let us play like that. So overall a good appointment, yes let us be realistic and not expect to win the prem, but if he could make swansea end up in 11th you can't help thinking what he can do at Anfield. What is your opinon ed? thanks

Agree....everytime i watched them i was saying to myself why can't we play like that...now we can bring back the good ole days of being a team who you just don't get the ball back off once you lose it to us.

I hope we go for Gylfi Sigurdsson...watched loads of him when he was at Reading, and he impressed then, not to mention his impact he had at Swansea scoring 7 in 18...can he be our long-term replacement for Gerrard? Great passer and long range shooter...better at dribbling players than Stevie as well. Let's hope aye?

Hi Eds/Macca

Fantastic job you are all doing. This site is extremely addicitve, however may I make a suggestion, Why dont you put a notice in at the top of the page with a big red arrow pointing to the scroll bar on the right hand side with the following message.
This scroll bar moves the page up and down please use it to see previous questions and answers, this will stop all you F**KING idiots from asking the same F**KING questions.
I apprecaite you may have to phrase it differently but you get my drift.
Once again brilliant site and thank you all for your hard work, it really is appreciated.
Dan

I don't think they know they are asking the same questions. A more fitting way would be what ed02 is consistently saying through gritted teeth ''Please read the posts first.''
Some people just want to be spoon fed. It's like when you see someone in a shop asking an assistant where an item is without looking first. Drives me mad.

Personally i was chuffed at him being mentioned as a possible manager and know others were to, but seems strange that he got all that stick pre press conference

If Suarez stays (and it's a big if) then I can see us using the 4-3-3 system next year in this fashion.

Reina

Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique

Gerrard - Lucas

??

?? Suarez

Carroll

Those two question marks are the first team spots I think need filling. Sigurdsson for the central role, would be a steal at £7 million. The right wing would be where I'd spend a big chunk of money. Ideally we'd get Muniain for around £25 million, however I think as the Ed's have said he'll want champions league. I'm not sure of a suitable alternative, but hopefully it's where we spend big.

We need a back up centre forward for Carroll, perhaps De Jong he's got a modest price tag and a back up defensive midfielder. I'd keep Kuyt for back up as him and Bellamy will cover the front three spots well.

We have three cup competitions next year, so potentially lots of games for everyone. Kelly, Robinson, Coates, Shelvey and Henderson will all play quite regularly or at least be part of the squad. We'll hopefully see more of Sterling and perhaps Suso and Silva at some stage (unless they go on loan). I think Flannagan, potentially Spearing (if he can't be sold) and a couple of others like Wisdom should go on loan.

I'd be happy to see Adam go, he has some quality but his laziness to track back drives me crazy. I think we'll eventually find a buyer for Aquilani and Cole may go to QPR, WHU or even Reading. Maxi wants more time, but I'll be sad to see him depart.

We aren't going to recoup too much, possibly 12 - 15 million, but we should balance the wage bill if those four or five leave. The owners will need to invest, but if champions league and a run in one or two cups is achieved then it'll be worthwhile.

I'm delighted with BR's appointment, I respect his background and where he's come from. Yes he'll play attacking, progressive possession football, but he also knows how to make Anfield a fortress again. He's got a clear, concise view on what he wants to achieve and I for one would be delighted if he did that.

I'm not in the 'Rafa brigade' nor am I in the 'team kenny'.

I must point out that I will support any manager who is installed in the great throne.

I am concerned with BR history at reading and lack of EPL experience does go against him slightly.
I know he can talk the talk and is so far a media darling but looking at the candidates that was interested or available then Brendan was probably the best.
I wish him look and wash his team with a great deal of interest

Don't forget that Rafa's first two jobs with Valladolid and Osasuna, ended in the sack after a combined 3 wins in 32 games.
Every good manager learns from his mistakes.

I am sure he will grateful for you washing his team.

BigBadBen

Di Matteo's history was what before taking the Chelsea job he's now a FA Cup and Champions league winning manager....same with Pep came from the youth team to take over at Barca and we all know what happened there.

So proud to be a red when Kenny took over again..he has only gone up in my estimation (if possible).He restored our pride. We are forever grateful. However, I cant help but feel excited by the arrival of Rodgers. It just feels right. Apart from his credentials, he gets the club. He's super ambitious, but he's also humble . This is a great football club and we will walk on..

Dara D

Sacking Kenny was like killing Bambi's mother to some fans and they will never forgive the owners. All of us who have supported LFC over the years remember the enormous contribution Kenny made both on and off the pitch - its a bit like celebrating somone's life rather than mourning their death. We have a new manager now and rather than looking back to kenny or even further to Rafa we should get behind him in every way we can and hope he can restore us to former glories.

Redpath

The irony is that the owners hired Kenny in the first place partly to appease the fans - many of the same who will apparently now never forgive them.

I thought at the time it was a bad idea. Now I know it was.

What is it they say - if you want a friend, get a dog?

02 Jun 2012 11:03:26
Rodgers should bring in ronaldinho just to piss this lad off!! Also people sayin Carroll should go out on loan, if he does he has to get used to another teams style of play then come back and get used to ours. We should play him as much as we can and build around him and a good spine to the team

Ronaldinho is a spent force too old now 32 years old not what we are looking for and he would expect big wages for being a bench warmer thanx mal ...

02 Jun 2012 10:58:29
Ed wud it be possible for people to actually read the rumours and questions asked before askin the same questions over and over.... Some seriously stupid questions being asked over and over again

02 Jun 2012 10:54:19
Eds has Brendan Rodgers done an interview with the sun for tomoro? {Ed002's Note - No idea.}

Why you looking to have ago at him already!!!

Surely the higher ups wouldnt allow an exclusive interview with the s*n I would be very surprised.

Can anyone tell me if Steve Clarke is still at liverpool?

02 Jun 2012 10:40:21
Hello Eds,
it's good that Mr.Rogers was appointed the manager quite quickly. It will give him and the owners a few weeks to discuss the transfer policy before the window opens. Let's just hope that the decisions they'll make allow the club to return where it belongs, that is in the top three. Keep my fingers crossed and good luck to Mr.Rogers. Do you Eds have any idea what players will be brought in - goalies, defenders, strikers, assuming no one from the starting line-up goes? thanks. {Ed002's Note - You need to keep up and read the posts and with a new manager he needs time to settle.}

02 Jun 2012 10:39:24
its SKRTEL .... and he isnt going, he said that he is happy in liverpool so dont write bs please

02 Jun 2012 10:35:11
really hope brendan addresses the lack of real pace out wide , something we have been lacking for several seasons and a vital part of his swansea side last year

I'm pretty sure hes going to get that pace void covered up, he had Dyer and Sinclair, if I recall correctly, at Swansea. Not to mention Joe Allen who all have a load of pace.

RenegadeRed

Hopefully he doesn't bring them with him, we need some real quality out wide, we have failed to address this in the last god knows how many transfer windows!

Good with the media ! What PC obssession is this? How many matches will that win?
Ferguson is poor with the media but is a great manager.

Corporate money is ruining the game. And your minds.

Red Comandante

I think what people are trying to say is he is comfortable with the press, any mind game from other managers the press twist he can handle. Remember Rafa's Fact rant that was pressure and it did effect team..

NS

Red Comandante? more like Red Comedian! Singred

You haven't got a clue mate, this is the way forward, if you don't like it i suggest you go some place else

Leadership is nearly all about communication and as a fan of Comaandante Che Guevara you will find that is what made his men follow him through hell.

Training coaching is one aspect but Brendan has won the first big battle, PEOPLE WILL FOLLOW WERE HE LEADS.

Let's all go and support Runcorn then eh?

There's no law restricting you being good with the media and a good manager at the same time, you nugget. Give him time.

Big Bill

Fergie can be poor with the Media NOW
Because of the power he has because of his success.
Kenny could of been like he was with the media when we were the best club in England in the 80s

02 Jun 2012 10:26:18
I would like to see us bring in Jovetic, munain, Elm, belhanda, sigurdsson, craig gordon as our number 2, sakho (without CL not sure we could secure him), powell and a quality stirker. I know the budget is going to be roughly 30 + what we sell.

I do know that kenny was at the chelsea vs napoli to scout three of napolis forwards but not too sure who the third is, do you have any ideas?
Also i know there isn't going to be a DOF but i here we may appoint 3 heads in a similiar position to create like another board this would help us attract better players

AK3

Who are we selling to afford all of those players, half of our first team?

Papa G

You mean 1 of Jovetic, Muniain and Belhanda

and 1 of Elm and Sigurdsson

02 Jun 2012 10:25:05
Morning Eds and fellow reds , watch brendon,s interview three times now ,and I think he is happy with players already there and just want 3 players , 1 striker, 1creative midfielder and 1 winger to adapt into his 4,3.3.formation. Don't see many players leaving unless there are issues with manager.cheers psv

Agree, with some quality added to those positions we will be good to challenge for top four I think!

Soldado/De jong/Martinez/Remy
Jovetic/Martin/Sigurdson
Belhanda/Ayew/Munian

02 Jun 2012 10:16:53
I agree!

It's not about winning trophies anymore it's about a top 4 finish.
It's a shame the football in this county has come to this

It's not just the country

Are you completely void of all sense.

Top 4 puts a team, if they get through qualifiers, in to the best club tournament in the world!

It's a smorgasbord of quality teams and players vying for the pinnacle of footballing achievement!

You only get there if you deserve to be in it.

Liverpool FC can't set targets each year of winning either Carling cup or FA cup! That's what mid table teams do! Champions League (min 4th spot) is where it is all at for prestige and rewards!

According to some the top 4 spot puts u into the prestigious cup competition known as champions league.
Apparantly this is more inportant thing rather than any trophies won.
In years to come its better to remember the year(s) we finished 2nd,3rd,4th rather than winning a cup.
The post above just shows the problems with todays football society.
I remember the days when it was a proud moment in history when your club lifted the FA cup or even the league cup.
I remember when you looked for to wembly and was excited when you bought your tickets for you and your mates or kids. It's not about that anymore. Our history now is to finish in the top 4.
Where has the pride and heart gone?

LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB was built to win trophys not finish fourth . as for the champions league great though it is but as Shanks said the league is your bread and butter were as the champions league is finance

Don't mean to be rude boys and girls but could we all stop going on about how good the press conference was, what matters is what this guy does for us on the pitch. Anyone can be media savvy it doesn't mean anything. I for one am very pleased that Rodgers is our new manager, not because of watching the press conference but because of what I've actually read about him. In terms of studying the game he is very experienced and I think he will bring a lot to the table.
Jud.

The point isn't that he was media savvy, the point is he was stright up honest, in control and confident but humble. Really came across as a leader and someone that players will listen to. Didn't use on cliche that we hear so often.

fitzy

I agree with you Jud. When you read up on Brendan you can't fail to be impressed. However it is also an added extra that he presents himself so well. Unfortunately unless you are SAF you need to be able to do this these days to keep the media off your back. Sad that it's come to this but its just a fact of life in football now.

Guess i'll get a few disagrees for posting this lol

I admit, the first thing I did was read then hit disagree... I found it funny but now think I need to get out more!

how is adam morgan doing this season in reserves? any improvement? ready to play 15 min subs yet?

Kaizer

Why not watch the reserves?

It is free and on LFC TV, which is free.

He scores a few goals, not nearly good enough to think of 1st team football.

Ben

Its free? i thought u had to pay n all that, coz the links there are always saying we need to subscribe n all that. never knew that, thanks.

Kaizer

Its free on sky mate channel 434 don't think its free on line just the odd video they don't mind showing
riley

To watch games live its free to watch 15m edits you'd need to subscribe

Adam morgan didn't have a great season probably a good one, it didn't look like he improved he did well in the next gen when he took part though.

silva was our best player in the nextgen

suso started of slow but soon hit form for like 6 months.

ngoo was beast

Mendy looked good when he returned after injury for the last few games of the season.

in all we started of slow but quickly moved up the table in the last two months.

Is there any way for us Liverpool fans to do a petition or something to keep Suarez so the owners will recognise how much he is loved by us fans?

The lad made a mistake as has other footballers e.g. Tevez and Terry, so why should we sell him? He and skrtle in my eyes were the only players who give 100% to our club last season.
Skurks

And yes, i know before people start saying 'No player is bigger in the club' but i worry about us if we start selling our best players as do most fans...
Skurks

His shirt sales are the petition, his shirt is the biggest seller, you think the owners would want to loose that money {Ed002's Note - The owners don't get any money from his shirt sales.}

I agree about the suarez thing but to say that skrtel and suarez were the only players to give 100% is a bit off
derryred

The sponsors get the money from the sales don't they? So with Warrior , SC who were the most upset with Suarez will surely see how valuable he is and will rescind their original disappointment
NextGenRed {Ed002's Note - The money from shirt sales goes to the manufacturer, the distributor and the retailer, who can make extra adding numbers and names to the shirts. If the club are the retailer (club shop, club website etc.) then they get the retailers cut. The manufacturer (Adidas, Warrior, Nike etc.) pay the club an amount each year which allows them to manufacture and sell the shirts using the correct logos etc.. That is how they justify the money given to the club. So if you walk in to a high street store and buy a Liverpool or Arsenal shirt - nothing goes to the club. There are a few clubs that have negotiated different deals with manufacturers (Real Madrid with Adidas and Barcelona with Nike are the two obvious examples) based upon joint reselling ventures. So the income from shirts is fixed to the £xM or whatever Adidas, Nike etc. pay the club plus a small amount for reselling through the club retail outlets (shop, web).}

If we are going to be a big club again we really need to stop this sort of talk. A petition to beg I player to stay ! I think not

Fitzy

PETITION TO KEEP SUAREZ?!! Thats just embarrassing and exactly the kind of crass suggestion which is losing us our former reputation as being the most knowledgable and respectful fans.

Lets just let the new gaffer do his job without worrying about petitions and fan groups who think they know better.

Banter is one thing. Petitions are something else. Mot in my name.

Red G

Didn't Real get back the money they paid for Beckham in shirt sales in a few months Ed, or is that a myth?

Papa G

That all sounds very clever but I am sure if Liverpool won the champions league and shirt sales went up 500% there is some sort of stipulation which would ensure Liverpool got a cut of any substantial increase in shirt sales.

Every club works differently as such does every business. I am sure you have credible contacts Ed but I am also just as sure that you are not party to the particulars of the terms and conditions of the contract Liverpool have in regards to income from shirt sales.

{Ed002's Note - Warrior are well aware that they are going to take a caning on the deal with Liverpool. It is a loss leader to them.}

No to beg the owners the player said he wants to stay...

Maybe not so much a petition but just something to show John W Henry he is worth keeping for our future so we can build a quality team around him and Gerrard.
Skurks

Both Tevez and Terry have made their clubs look bad - as well as themselves. And Suarez has done the same for us.

None of these clubs have any obligation to keep these players on. City tried to offload Tevez but couldn't find a buyer.

02 Jun 2012 09:33:11
First post folks.
Really excited for the new season, Rodgers
look the real deal unlike Dalglish.
Kenny never instilled me with confidence
and he was nothing short of rude.
As a footballer he was great but he doesn't
suit the role we require.
No dof will be great for our club.
Dublin YNWA.

Okay don't badmouth kenny. 1. we all thought he was the real deal this time last year after he had us playing some unbelievable football having saved us from a relegation play-off. 2. our football was good last season, his tactics were often correct and i don't think we will see much difference in our style of play under BR.
and finally, you dont hear mancs cry about alex fergusons intrviews, so why should you cry about kennys?
derryred

Don't think Dalglish handled the press great but I must stress that the media did go against Liverpool very early.
I must be stressful answering the same questions time and time again. Also the way the media highlighted the Suarez affair yet Terry had no were near the media abuse and his was arguebley far worse.
Dalglish stuck up for our club and players and is getting slated for it.
He won a trophy for the first time in 6 years and we got to the FA cup final. That's not bad in your first year.
Are you going to judge Brendan on his league performance?

02 Jun 2012 09:22:42
First things first. Welcome to our fantastic club Buck.

I think this is a good appointment. I have a good feeling about him. The press conference and 1st LFCtv interview were first class and very positive.

No rumour to report just an observation really. I find it amazing that all these players we are "linked" with can come about in under 24hours from Buck being installed. Also, the same goes for all the ed's (not Macca as he's not posted since his appointment) saying this, that and the other is true or we're interested or not interested. All the players that were previously linked are still being linked and more! How can that be? Not even the Liverpool scouts will know what the new manager wants. Just don't get to excited about anything as it's very early days in his tenure so not even possible for any of these rumours being true or verified by the ed's. The only possible player I can see a connection with at the moment is Gilfi Sigurdsson. Love the site and all the work you ed's/Macca do but come on guy's let the dust settle and stop spouting nonsense.

Snedthered. YNWA JFT96

The eds said we were interested in players. the links to other players are pure press speculation. the scouts can still forward scout reports to BR and see if he wants to go for them.

Dont know if this is significant but took my new top into LFC store to get SUAREZ 7 on the back. The chap in the store said "are you sure?" and kept it up, in the end he said id be wasting my money! I then said "ok GERRARD 8" and he did the same thing! I went through Carroll, Downing, Lucas and Agger and he said the same thing! Thats why Ive got Spearing on the back of my top!

Spearings no1 fan

You are a liar, there has been record pre order sales and Suarez is the most popular name on those shirts

Spearing.......? Are you sure?

Obviously not a Liverpool fan for the simple fact he thinks Spearos nailed on to be with us next season when any true fan knows he was on his way out before Kenny left.

Kopping a feel {Ed002's Note - I am astonished that the humour resulted in such responses.}

Should have just put your own on the back of it ' TUT'

Maybe you went to sports direct and a bitter served u

He must get commission on each letter he prints...... Smart guy

U are right spearing is the one who leave Liverpool :)

Obviously, this was written by Spearing himself! Trying to drum up some fans!
Bazzaa

Take it was a wolves shirt you were getting name on then .steve Morgan a big fan of jay

Sense of Humour By-pass

Sense of Humour failure?

A friend of mine(also a liverpool fan) just bought me the new shirt as a birthday present. Imagine my disappointment that he thought it would be funny to have spearing 20 on the back! Will have to hang it on my wall instead with the front facing

Quite cringeworthy the amount of people who completely missed the humour!

Let's hope Brendan Rodgers gets us two cup finals in his first year

Enough already. Look up 'support' in a dictionary please

No pressure then...

And 6 wins at home and 8th in the league, get a grip. New manager, new era! Move with the times, I just hate has beens!!

We all know kenny shouln't have been sacked. those that did cant appreciate good football. however it is done now and all we can do is get behind Brendan Rodgers, whose teams also play attractive football. i just hope the Rafa brigade isn't calling for him to go after 2 games without a win.

I did think that Martinez would be the right man for us but now that Rodgers has been installed and after watching his press conference, he has totally changed my mind and I think we couldn't have made a better choice. Can't wait for the new season.
One things certain were going to play the right brand of football and the only one that will bring sustained success, in my opinion.
Good luck Brendan Rodgers in your quest to bring us success. I'm sure all true Reds will be behind you.
kidmillions

Yep. i don't think you can ask for much more in a manager than to be a good man motivator. play good football. spend wisely and not fall out with the dressing room. i think he is a better choice than those managers who have had millions to spend on their teams and win the league.

I know this is a rumour site, but no one can truly know our targets at the min. I'd imagine it'll be weeks before BR is able to draw up a list. I'm sure the Eds get a bit tired responding to the same old rumours and so called transfer targets being branded about. So lets all have a period of calm, let the Eds draw breath, allow BR to settle in & lets all be positive about the days/weeks ahead. In my mphning great appointment & once again full credit to the board.

i noticed when brendan rogers was talking about players we have at the club he mentioned gerrard carragher bellamy and pepe . he didnt mention luis suares .should we take anything from this . cmv 05

He was mainly talking bout the legends at the club, Pepe, Stevie G, Carra.... Don't know why he mentioned Bellamy, probably heard about his interview about him becoming manager before the press conference.

Bellamy in his own right is a WELSH legend and has played at the top tier of football the majority of his career.
Suarez has just come over and although a very good footballer a legend he is not.

Kopping a feel

He simply stated that LFC has 'Premier League' legends in the squad such as Gerrard , Carragher , Pepe Reina and Bellamy that's all .

Suarez is a legend in his country and in Holand {Ed002's Note - Not with the Groningen fans.}

Even if Rodgers has identical results to Kenny last year. Yesterday showed why the owners went for him. He's already got the media onside. Club management isn't just about tactics and team talks behind closed doors. Its also about presenting the club in the best possible way in public which Rodgers understands and KK just never got.

And again, im excited! Even if he doesn't make a single significant signing I'd be happy to see Morgan, Coast, Suso and Sterling promoted and used. There you go, A creative midfielder, A Gerrard clone, a pacy winger and predator in the mold of GOD. The 4 signings we all know the team desperately needs for free....

FatJanMolby

Coast? Coates but he doesn't line up with any of the descriptions. Not a Creative midfielder, winger, Gerrard or God?

Ben

I think he was meaning coady

Expect one of our kits to be Blue! I watched an interview with Jose Enrique recently in the Yes/No game and he got asked if he liked the kit.. he replied "they're very good many colours, Red, Blu--" then the interviewer cut him off. You heard it here first but if there are bets on what colour our third or away kit might be, my money is certainly on one to be blue! JS Signing out YNWA!

Surely they edit these programmes before they air them so this I see as a bit of baiting to get a reaction.

If Suarez is sold because FSG want him out the club to make the sponsors happy, then i'm not going to be happy.

Nor are millions of other fans, that have over the years witnessed such incidents at rival clubs such as Cantona's flying kick on an opposing fans head at a bloody game.

Tevez to refuse to warm up on the touch line, Ballotelli constantly being an idiot.

Terry knocking half of his team mates wives and girlfriends off. As well as being under scrutiny for being racially abusive to Anton Ferdinand.

As well as many more issues that have occurred over the years in the Premier League. Yet LFC have too sell our best player and most exciting player (a nominee for the most recent Ballon d'or, as well as current player of the Copa America).

It doesn't make sense, truthfully we are lucky to have a player of Suarez's ability whilst not having elite European football (CL). The owners are not protecting their investment by selling Suarez, they are murdering it.

If Suarez is sold, it's not because the fans want him gone. It's not going to suddenly be forgotten by the World, it's going to be a reminder of the whole incident.

The way to mend this, is to have Suarez score more and lift more trophies, with his team, LFC. Magnifying it within to the point that Macca and a few others have heard about it, means the player must know about it.

How is Kenny Dalglish meant to motivate players, when the players, coaches and the manager all know that the board are actively seeking to axe the clubs best player.

Again not to mention the sheer inconsistency of the whole incident, as Suarez was allowed by FSG too further represent LFC, play for LFC and lift a cup with LFC after the Evra handshake fiasco.

It just doesn't make sense and would only put FSG in a untruthful light.

People would ask why he wasn't sold in January. If an excuse of a reasonable bid wasn't received, then the question is why he wasn't put on gardening leave until a suitable offer was received?

FSG could have entered the market in January and out of principle and bought a new striker (that's what this whole ''sell Suarez'' is about principles.)

FSG are yet again seemingly trying to get a player to hand in a transfer request before selling him. Just like Torres had done before moving to Chelsea, as did Merieles, who was the fans player of the year, before moving to Chelsea. {Ed016's Note - Some very good points in this. Lets hope they see that his talent and the revenue from him being 2nd most popular name on a new shirt. I think things can change, football is always changing. Plus it wouldn't even be the owners would it? its more the sponsors who had the issue.}

Yeah sell our best player where we heading... we won't get a suitable replacement of Suarez's quality in our dreams.

Brendan would be lucky to implement his philosophy on to shi** players like Spearing & Downing.

If Suarez is to leave than these useless crap also needs to leave.

I hope the budget is not 30M as rumored hopefully it won't be fixed.

Bosco

To b honest i think they want rid of suarez, i think rodgers almost mad a freudian slip in relation to him yesterday, i think he was told not to mention suarez because he doesn t know whether he will be here or not come august

hes our best player by a mile, but i think if a good offer of around 40 million comes in he ll be sold. i just hope he isnt, however even if he is the money will be reinvested

No one person is greater than the club, not even the king himself

Orrrrrrrrrr he just forgot????

clm96p

You dont forget your clubs outstanding player

He may be the clubs outstanding individual, but is he a team player?

If Suarez sells for £40+ Liverpool could sign three world class players, Lavezzi (25m euros) and Luuk De Jong (10m) and put the rest towards fees for Hoillett or Diame.

Ben {Ed002's Note - I would not hold yor breath over Lavezzi.}

Let's see if i'm on top of this...
The people here that were screaming for Kennys sacking, were blaming him for the performances, not the players. But you're also saying we need to invest heavily as we don't have a good enough squad to challenge? So which is it? Manager or players?

I only bring this up because i am confused as to what some of the negative fans actually want!
On one hand, you say we had a manager that let down his squad tactically, making them look bad, which would mean you believe the players we have actually ARE good enough, but they were let down.

On the other hand, If the squad is not strong enough, then it could not have been the bosses fault, it must be the players. In which case you were wrong about the "tactics" We also can't really put it down to the bosses "poor signings" because we've seen these guys play before, and they've been brilliant, but for one reason or another, just didn't fire(yet).

I'd like to know if anybody else understands my confusion here. Who do these people actually blame? We have a new season starting pretty soon and there still seems to be a lot of negativity around the place, i'd like to know whether it's just personality flaws, and you just want everything to be doom and gloom all the time? Or whether it's more rational than that. Because it needs sorting or you'll only go down the same road again if we lose a couple of matches next season.

To add, if that does happen, and we lose a few, who's fault will it be then, because the only remaining factor will be the "poor squad" that is spoken of.

Red7.

Well if the players were bad then its down to the man who bought them , and played them out of position , and bringing a target man on in carrol but taking of one of the best crosses in the team in downing , so its a bit of both , if that makes sense to you as it does to me , also henderson is a central midfielder but was played on the right wing most of last season

I say most probably never kicked a ball in their life and know nothing of football, just my conclusion from reading some people i.e. the bring back Rafa brigade or the BBRB.

shanedub

An old saying, players win games mangers loss them.

Most of the blame lies with the manager.

The manager for not choosing the best tactics to suit the players available.

The manager for not choosing the right formation to suit the players available.

The manager for playing players out of position.

The manager for not trying to correct squad deficiencies in the transfer window(s).

I think most people were dleighted by what they saw of rodgers yesterday and most were bouyed by his enthusiasm and commitment to the cause. learning that his grandad and dad were liverpool fans almost makes him one of us. he used terms like fighting for his life to rejuvenate the club and his eagerness to get to work was aprrarent for all to see

i think most people will have been excited by it and now cant wait to see who brendan will bring to the club in terms of playing staff

It is the manager foult for spending £120 million in very average players and not geting the best out of them,that's the players hi chose,his players, must take a blame. But still a legend. Ynwa king keny

Kenny bought the players

It's a combination of both Red7. Wasting precious resource on players that will never be sold for that amount again, not saying all of them are bad (Stewart Downing is pretty bad), and buying players in positions that really does not need strengthening (Charlie Adam was not needed and he also falls under the "bad signings category) when other positions (winger and striker) were more urgent. People blindly believed that players like Downing and Charlie Adam's gonna light up the premier league......and yeah, they did not. That's 28 million bucks of utter crap, think of what a quality winger you can buy with that money??, that's 28 million we'll never see again. Kenny could not manage these players and made average players into absolute s**t. Kenny is gone now but these players wages are stuck on that bill, the worst thing is this happened in a very critical time where fans thought, after spending a 100 million, we could get in to top 4 which is critical because of the financial empowerment and reputation you gain from....instead we ended in 8th making us the laughing stock of the premier league, world reputation is in tatters meaning we are losing even more money because people feel embarressed about the club they love and decide to turn there back on LFC(you may say "good" let these so-called supporters leave, we don't need them, when in actual fact we do), all this happened because of the signings we made....it was critical to get us back on the map instead were lost even more in the wilderness blindly looking at next season not knowing what to expect, if anything at all, hoping Rodgers is gonna do a good job and hoping LFC, after 3 very very poor seasons, can still attract the class we use to attract to help us restore our names and offload useless player to make the wage bill better. I defo support the rebuilding occurring at Anfield and back the owners fully provided we buy Quality this summer and not average crap again....hope that put everything in perspective

Cheers guys. I guess the best way to gauge peoples opinion is to ask ey?

Post was really void of solid opinion on my part as i've made my feelings pretty clear on a few occasions, just wanted to see what's making people tick really.

anyone see the article on the lfctv website "rodgers, shankly and the tea lady"? pic of rodgers next to shankly is almost a spitting image! lets hope the success follows, plus the guy likes a cuppa as do i haha! {Ed016's Note - The man certainly has a certain presence about him. Alot more hopeful than Woy was}

Woy for me was to much of a yes man and a 'pass the book' sort of person, he showed no authority. He's doing the same with England now! (I feel sorry for them)
Rodders talks and seems to mean exactly what he says, demanding his way or not at all. I like it!

Myk

Pass the book???

Pass the buck, no its buck rogers, no wait its brendan rodgers

What a great first press conference from the new man, good job well done! He seems to have great presence and with comments about pride, honour and being blessed there is no doubting his commitment and dedication to the cause.

All he best big man

Something big has just begun i sense

SwissRedinTorontofromNI {Ed016's Note - I like the way he was realistic but laid down the truth.}

Agreed and good reasons to feel excited and optimistic about the future even if suarez is to be sold i still think this man can do good thngs for the club

Black away kit showing at lfc shop. Yellow/gold lettering and "grandad collar". Supposedly maritime influenced. {Ed016's Note - Mate they are just blacking out the real thing....}

That's funny

I hope Brendan Rodgers can make liverpool a better team I really hope that he makes these descisions

In:
Affelay 6m
Mountinho 18m
Gaston Ramirez 16m
Rossi 14m
Drenthe free
Diame free

Out
Downing 14m
Adam 8m
Carrol (loan)
Henderson (loan)
Aqua 8m
Cole 8m
Maxi 3m

Paying 14 mil for someone who is contemplating the rest of his career in footie. really makes you question your knowledge mate

14m for rossi, a player who could well be out for the entire season.drenthe has major attitude issues.also if bologna want 20m for ramirez, i thnk we should look for someone else.

Yea cos Rossi would be a shrewd buy, he is out for ages, maybe forever

Rossi over rated poor poor choice for the money

Sell
spearing £3m
adam £5m
cole £4m
kuyt £3m
maxi £2m
recoup 17m

buy
(FC Twente) Luuk de Jong £13m
(FC Barca)Afellay £6m, if henderson and carroll and downing are worth £75m combined to Liverpool then he is worth the £6m risk.
(Feyenoord)Jordy Clasie £8m
(FC Sochaux)Boudebouz £11m skill, passing, movement and most of all wants a move to liverpool.
Aquilani
Pacheco

spend £38m
net = £21m

Ed, when did the banter page become better than rumours page? I feel like I've missed out for months. Please post this on rumours page. {Ed005's Note - It will not be posted on the rumour page if it is not a rumour.}

True Dat!

''I heard this page is better than that page'' would be the way to word it, as then it's a second hand piece of information, which is enough to constitute a rumour.

Just a tip for future reference , i'm not encouraging anyone though.

02 Jun 2012 02:14:08
Ee we have to get ronaldino such a class player for free an dhe still has atleast 2 seasons left in him

No,No,No, way to old&massive wages...Please stop people with this tripe.It wont&it will not ever happen. {Ed016's Note - Mate, some of your posts have been rather offensive to the OP for no real reason. Cut it out.}

NOW how is that offensive? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps the Ed cut out the offensive parts. Everyone should play nice.}

02 Jun 2012 02:02:02
eds any chance of any more well known teams being interested in E.Pieters from the netherlands? pretty good LB at 22. and do you know where he does his trade by any chance? JLFC {Ed016's Note - How do you know he is a good LB if you have never seen him play?}

sorry ed i should have clarified i have seen him play in the dutch national side. hence why i put netherlands. but i see where i made that mistake and that others could aswell JLFC

Macca

Any news on Suarez staying or leaving? if not, what do you personally think will happen with him?

Thanks mate

I don't think Rodgers would welcome the idea... Not so pleasing to sell your best player eh..

Armando

I can't see him wanting to come if we are getting rid of our best players.

02 Jun 2012 02:00:23
Am I right in saying that just about everyone involved in the Suarez racism debacle has been moved on from the club, with one exception ...the man himself. I agree with the EDs, very unlikely he will be a Liverpool player come the new season. Incredibly hard player to replace.Any thoughts on who could replace him?

We wont get a player as good as him to come in if he leaves YNWA {Ed016's Note - Yeah but I think the owners are prepared for the fact that they will need to replace him.}

IF they do get rid, I would not complain too much if muniain and Johnson were brought in. Although imagine a front 3 of them two plus Suarez!?

02 Jun 2012 01:55:07
just a tought...our new manager employs the tiki-taka football thats is coined by barca...and worked wonders with them..
is gerard the kind of player to fit in this game style..
specially now with his best days behind him and him being more of deep laying playmaker giving those long passes..
just a thought...!

Tiki-taka football that was coined by liverpool and 7 0's holland you mean.....did u not watch liverpool before the 90's

shanedub {Ed016's Note - Remember some fans weren't born till the 90's}

Coined by the dutch you mean, then cultivated further by Cruyff, but i catch your drift...

This style of football went from Ajax to Liverpool to Barca.

So I think we can handle it.

The thought wasnt about who coined the tiki taka
whether the dutch or 90's liverpool
rather if gerard fits in it...

Dutch created total football much more attacking stuff ,plenty of direct crosses and quiet a few long balls , along with high defensive line even in opposition half,
tiki-taka was coined by spainish and modification of total football with much lesser crosses and more of short ground passes specifically to suit the small players ...

I know it wasn't about coining the Tiki taka.....but i didn't think answering whether or not gerrard suited this style of play deserved to be answered....of course he would he's world class and would be able to play for any team under any system from rafa's defensive don't take risks style to "Barca's" style plus he's been playing that style on his own at Liverpool with no one else around him to also do it, that's what makes him stand out.

shanedub

He could i feel but not as a central midfielder as an attacking midfielder. like with our current squad this will best work with the following.

lucas, aquilani
gerrard

The game would be dictated by Lucas and Aquilani while Gerrard would be the one to lay of the final pass as his is accustomed to or have a pop. suarez doing the messi aspect of the tiki taka football and all we would need are two able wide men 2 support suarez and be able to also contribute massively. personally for me these two would be Muniain and Afellay / dos santos as they are best suited to play a more advanced wide role and cutting in etc.

02 Jun 2012 01:15:09
hey eds if suarez leave which is sadly seeming more and more likley do you think a big name will come in to replace him? i hope de jong comes in but i think we will need another tricky striker if suarez leaves hard to get a world class one at the moment hope he doesnt leave

thanks eds love the site {Ed005's Note - It depends what you class as a big name. I think genuine attempts will be made to replace him with a quality player.}

02 Jun 2012 01:09:57
I just wanted to say what a legend Kenny is. His comments today sum up why I support Liverpool because it is greater than any one person, it is an entiry on it's own... YNWA King Kenny.

Little Wolf

02 Jun 2012 01:08:25
do the eds or macca think hoilett could come in? and i noticed macca hasnt posted in awhile saddens me as i really look forward to his posts! hope he comes out with some transfer news soon hopefully news about muniain although thats unlikley!

welcome BR! Love this site come here everymoring and everyday after school! {Ed005's Note - I think he'll be considered especially given that he'll have no transfer fee however Spurs look likely at the moment.}

02 Jun 2012 01:08:14
Hi guys/gals,So happy with the management change itwas needed.I beleive even with the players we have plus a few changes we can finish in the top four its going to take a lot of hard work from top to bottom and of course GOOD coaching,and please lets only play players who deserve the call using henderson! as a example, was begining to think he was dalglises long lost son.once again top four finish ive made my bet a thousnd pound thats how I feel,(godin)red since 1945.

Getting sick of this henderson bashing.....have u watched him play(not on the tele)....he picks up great positions between either our defence or midfield or the oppositions defence or midfield, never shies away from the ball, always available to receive the ball, great engine, works hard for 90 mins, has a high pass completion percentage and has the character at the age of 21 to give a bollocking to any senior player including carra for a bad pass (I've seen him do it). Now throw into the equation that he's watching and learning from the best centre midfielder we'll ever have and i believe your looking at a future liverpool captain......Yes i'm in love with Jordan Henderson haha....but seriously football is about more than assists and goals try looking at why we got a goal, a run a striker made to pull a defender out of position, the tackle that was made in the first place 40 yards down the pitch to start a move or simply walking away from the play to the opposite side of the pitch can open up angles and channels by making someone step out of position. I'll get u started for next year watch out for the triangle s liverpool will play that comes with possession football.

shanedub {Ed016's Note - We all know people who slate him no nothing of football so take no notice.}

Spot on Shaneclub, anyone who goes the game knows how good he is, will have seen his work rate and contribution to the team. His grey areas are consistent with a lack of confidence due to his age. He sees the pass and once he starts finding the net a bit more will be one of the most effective central midfielders in the league.

Ozone

Hendo will really progress under Rodgers. He does pick up good positions and has high pass completion rates. With other players opening up angles for successful forward passes for him under Rodgers philosophy we will see a totally different player.

RE: The stadium. The yanks generally know how to build stadiums, just look at some of the new NFL stadiums they are incredible. Anfield is too small for LFC and with the start of a new era now would be the ideal time to think more towards a brand new stadium with naming rights to accommodate 65-70k fans. It's the fans that create the atmosphere and intimidation for opposing teams and that can be done anywhere really. The purists will call this sacreligous but you cannot keep wallowing in history - new memories must be created for each generation of fans to enjoy, a new stadium will allow that happen more easily in the 21st century.

Don't agree. The same fans that made Highbury raucous now sound like a whisper {Ed016's Note - Um I believe Highbury was called the Library for being so quiet}

Oops was agreeing with Ed not the raucous highbury.

can someone please tell me the diffrence between a sporting director and a director of football? if there is any? and by rodgers comments me may not get one

02 Jun 2012 00:57:02
Why oh why are all these names being bandied about, players here, players there, comings and goings, etc. What we need is a period of stability and consolidation. Time to see what what the existing squad can do, which in the past before the turbulence of the last two years was not that bad. Lets see what the reserves have to offer(suso, sterling, shelvey- a young gerrard (mind stevie when he was the wrong side of twenty three), and also what the present young first teamers, under a different manager, i.e. hendo, (listen to what stevie said on BBC web 2day), Big Carroll looked good at end of season, and lets not forget LUCAS.... a testimony to sticking with youth.. It's time to be patient, be realistic, we have fallen behind, we have made some progress. We need to give the manager time, and get back to our roots. Yes I know this is not the present manner in the premier league, but it is what we need to do.There has been too much change and it seems as though we have been in transition forever. Patience, perserverance and self belief are what we need. The past is the past........history is history..... the future is unknown....Kenny thanks for stabilising the titanic as that is what we had become Jan 2011. YWNA-Scousemclean dundee

02 Jun 2012 00:46:10
Have to say that boy Claisie at Feyernoord that Rodgers was looking at signing for Swansea has got real minerals. Exactly the sort of signing we should expect and hope for!

He is just like lucas with one strong point he's played there from the start so no switches needed from attacking to defending/holding/controlling/breaking down defenses. the perfect buy and a proper back up to lucas.

02 Jun 2012 00:44:45
Reina
Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique
Gerrard - Lucas - Aquilani
Suarez - Carroll - Bellamy

Doni
Kelly - Carragher - Coates - Robinson
Henderson - Adam - Cole
Maxi - Kuyt - Downing

Gulacsi
Flanagan - Wilson - Sama - Wisdom
Shelvey - Coady - Suso
Sterling - Morgan - Silva

I don't see the difference?

There is one difference some fat Italian bloke is on the team :S

Out of fitness or lack of fitness doesn't mean fat. Milan used that as an excuse to not play him so that they wouldn't have the pay £7m and then try and get him for FREE. are they stupid.

02 Jun 2012 00:37:00
More of an observation than a rumour. When Rodgers has been asked about the players at the club, he's mentioned Stevie G, Carra and Reina. Not once in any interview has he mentioned one of the standout performers, Suarez. Are we to read anything into this?

MerseyRed999 {Ed016's Note - Listen, I really hate to even say it. But it is looking very likely that Suarez will move on this summer, a good offer is going to come in and it will be accepted because of the incident earlier in the season. It made world wide press. It was a big issue. But I hope I am wrong. I doubt it though.}

My thinking on this is br is very smart , he did not want to bring up luis name , incase the press/media started asking questions about the evra incident , if br wants to keep suarez , he will be here next season , dont worry................lfc

Third parties in Italy have been quoted in the press saying Suarez has been there, asking what it is like to play there.

So something is clearly going on behind the scenes.

02 Jun 2012 00:35:08
Alright Eds, now Rodgers has been appointed who plays a very fluid possession-based quick pass and attack style of play, I'm just wondering why you feel Suarez will be moved on? Surely he fits into that philosophy quite well? I understand that LFC took a hammering over the Evra saga, but Suarez is still a hero to many. Your thoughts would be appreciated. {Ed016's Note - The bad press. Its still a big issue for the owners. He will be moved on this summer.}

Sorry Ed016 but what is your source? Or is it just your feeling? Until you're not 100 % sure , you shouldn't talk like this.

HK {Ed005's Note - Then why bother asking?}

My bad, I skipped the your thoughts part.

HK {Ed016's Note - everyone else related to the incident lost their job. It's pretty obvious its coming just the denial to see through.}

Ed016,
Maybe everyone else responsible was 'replaceable'?

01 Jun 2012 23:01:20
eds any chance of any more well known teams being interested in E.Pieters from the netherlands? pretty good LB at 22. and do you know where he does his trade by any chance? JLFC {Ed016's Note - How do you know he is a good LB if you have never seen him play?}

Pieters is at PSV and was looked at last summer as a replacement for Enrique at Newcastle. Honestly, he isn't very good.

02 Jun 2012 00:13:43
With Brendan Rodgers able to speak Spanish as well as English do you think this would help in negotiating deals for Spanish players? Any chance of Muniain from Bilbao. I beleive he is the perfect wide man for Liverpool and would fit the system and style Rodgers likes to play. {Ed016's Note - Munian will want champions league

02 Jun 2012 00:03:08
Did you know that joe Allen, had a better pass rate than iniesta last season? Get rid of Adam, a 3 class players and we'll be up there {Ed016's Note - Were those passes forwards or side to side and backwards though?}

Adam is a better player, ed is right your percentage will be higher going side to side or back. Charlie needs a Lucas in the team. Someone who can win the ball pass it to Adam to try create chances, his game suffered with Lucas's injury. To be honest if anyone at liverpool was to thrive under Rodgers it's Charlie Adam suits his philosophy. A midfield trio of Lucas Gerrard Adam, Lucas Henderson Adam, Lucas Gerrard Henderson, Gerrard Adam Henderson has the making of a great spine at our club under Rodgers.

shanedub {Ed016's Note - Yeah true, when Lucas got injured Charlie had to track back more and that was always terrifying to watch}

No offence ed, but are you saying all of Iniestas passes were forwards? with the style of play, there will be plenty of passing, in every direction. Joe Allen made a lot of very good forward passing moves last season. Obviously to compare him to Iniesta is ridiculous, and very unfair on him, but he does seem a good player. But in saying that, Henderson is also developing well when it comes to his passing.

Red7. {Ed016's Note - Pointing out the fact that one stat does not explain a persons talent. Fact is Iniesta puts the ball in more dangerous positions that Allen and has better vision. Silly argument really. Best midfielder in the world vs a no mark who had a good season.}

Bit harsh on Allen! He's not passin to the likes of messi, xavi ect

Imagine the Penny not dropping as you wrote that!
Even trying to compare him to Iniesta probably the best midfielder in the world
Who when he's not in the side Barcelona don't look half the team!

Lyndon

Absolutely ed. That's why i stated that we cannot compare the two of them, i just felt it needed to be said that i still think Allen is a good player regardless of Iniesta. My point is that even though a lot of Allens passes are backwards and moving sideways, he still plays a lot of attacking balls, as many as any good midfielder, but the sheer weight of other passes seems to overshadow those attacking balls... Somehow a victim of his own passing stats.

Red7.

So true Ed glad someone's talking sense how can you even compare Joe Allen to Iniesta?
Skurks

Dare I say it. Does anyone else see similarities in brendans philosophy, persona and attitude to mr shankly. He comes across as supremely confident and kind of intimidating.
Let's hope he has us performing as well as he portrays himself. {Ed016's Note - He does have that certain presence. I don't think anyone will be like Shanks. But I would be the happiest man in the world If I am wrong about that}

He got me buzzing just by his interview!
I really think he can get us some where within time.

The Rob.

I get the same feel. Sends shivers down my spine. Hopefully...

Near full strength team Europa Leauge=Agree.
Reserves most've way=Disagree

{Ed016's Note - I think he is asking if you would like to see younger players and reserves in the Europa League then click on Disagree, if you think we should field our strongest team then click Agree}

I think there should be a mix for the group stages before we go all out in the knockout rounds. It is still a European competition which I would still love to win.

Keith YNWA

Spot on keith!

billynwa

I hit both. It is a chance to get some of these young lads out into the world, but at the same time, we've older players that need the minutes and the young lads won't learn anything if they don't have a few old heads out there with them anyway, so a mixture is ideal. Carra will play a bit of Europa i'd say.

Well done Big Brendy, I'm a very proud Irish Liverpool supporter today !
Welcome aboard, great first day on the job.

Evening Ed, do we have any interest in Yoann Gourcruff?
I'm very surprised he hasn't made the France squad, are any other teams showing am interest?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed016's Note - I think the names been on the site before, you should give it a search. I havent heard anything on him}

01 Jun 2012 23:54:40
Hello everyone,

Free Transfers that we could consider in my opinion:
Ivan Klasnic (Bolton)
Jose Bosingwa (Chelsea)
Saloman Kalou (Chelsea)
Louis Saha (Tottenham)
Ryan Nelsen (Tottenham)
Keith Andrews (WBA)
Paul Scharner (WBA)
Hugo Rodallega (Wigan)
Mohamad Diame (Wigan)

Thanks!
-SSRED11 {Ed016's Note - no thoughts on Hoilett? I thought he was on a free, a younger option.}

Would rather give Sterling a go over Hoilett

Square tomato {Ed016's Note - fair point, I'm hungry, just edited all the posts. Going to eat.}

Keith Andrews? I am an RoI team supporter and I can tell you that you could stick me in centre mid for pool and I'd do a better job than him

Somen Tchoyi and Craig Gordon will be two good signings. Tchoyi hardly got a chance and West Brom and looked very promising from when I saw him - two good feet, great dribbling, strong and fast. I watched him for his first couple of games and still couldn't find out what foot he was!

01 Jun 2012 23:54:10
Macca for sporting director I've heard. Macca any truth in this? {Ed016's Note - Macca doesn't answer too many questions, just a heads up. I know you are asking a few for him}

01 Jun 2012 23:45:52
Now get on with transfer targets,preferably before The Euros!! When fees and competition goes through the roof!

Or they have a crap tournament and their team is bundled out in the group stages, forcing their price down. 50/50 my friend...

01 Jun 2012 23:41:33
Hi Macca, thanks for all ur info. Just wondering what do you think will happen with Suarez, do you think the owners want to sell him over the Evra fiasco or do you think it will be up to Rodgers to decide. Can you see him playing with us next season?

Dore89

I think will be difficult to sell him after breaking records selling our new kit and don't think owners will want to upset wariors or fans after wariors were all praise for him your views are wellcome ed {Ed005's Note - We had a new kit deal with Standard Chartered, which Torres led with Gerrard but we sold Torres. I think there would be less upset over selling Suarez than there was over his actions personally. I guess we'll have to see what happens.}

01 Jun 2012 23:39:31
If we redevelop anfield,would they demolish the main stand and anfield rd stand completely and start from scratch,or would they just expand on top of the stands. {Ed016's Note - Those would be the two stands that they redevelop. I think however they do it, it will be in sections or at least one stand at a time to keep match revenue strong. I can see it being needed perhaps to tear down the Main stand completely. The roof being the issue. Annie road is a tricky one. I'm no architect so not going to try and tell you how they will go about the construction or how they want to expand. But I understand the issue of expand or demolish and expand? I am sure plenty of reds on here will get involved. What does everyone else think?}

Stands will have to be assessed for structural intergrity.
If the existing supports can take the extra load, then maybe it wiLl just be a 'build on'.
However the main stand is quite old.
