Hi eds, I watched the Leeds vs Blackpool match and I was specifically watching it to view Shelvey. Now, I have always said Shelvey is a good player but he hasn't got the attacking prowess or the pace for Liverpool first team but after viewing his performance tonight I believe he is. Did you see the game ed? He was awesome do you think he is good enough for liverpool? Keep in mind he is younger than Wilshere but it is only the championshuip. {Ed001's Note - I do think he is up to the job, but he is not ready yet for our first team on a regular basis. This loan with Blackpool gives him the chance to get the first team football experience he needs.}

Not being smart atfter event,but rate Shelvey.Bags of skill,never got real chance.They were so rare,he just tried too hard

I remember him putting in a couple of really strong games for Liverpool with superb passing and bags of energy. Other games he seemed to go missing. He's at the perfect level to show the world what he's capable of, especially while our midfield is so strong.

cozinoz

How long is his loan to Blackpool? I would keep him there for the rest of the season as he is getting 1st team football in a team that looks to play attacking football, much like ourselves. Danny Wilson needs a similar move in order to get back on track in his development.

RedSG {Ed002's Note - Until December.}

According that he seems to be doing well at blackpool what are the chances kenny will let him stay there for the rest of the season if holloway wants him? I would love him to stay there till end of the season

Ska-oop {Ed002's Note - Perhaps, but in January he will have the option to move to an EPL club which may be a better test for him.}

02 Nov 2011 22:36:58
No doubt you are all jealous of United's brilliant performance tonight. I will describe the fluent midfield passing, the surperb attacking football, and assured defensive discipline, that you dopes can only dream of as follows:

C aptivating
R avishing
A mazing
P owerful

Ahem! I don't suppose Andy Carroll's available is he?

Sir Alex x

Ravishing? Have you been having a sneaky peep at Mrs. Ferguson's Jane Austen while she's taking her teeth out?

Who were you playing again

Im confused and im sure the guy above me hasnt even noticed the obvious about sir alex's post. lol

I switched on to watch some football but turned the tv off after 15 mins as it was so dire. ManU had a full strength side against Otelul Galal and looked appalling despite the win.

Look down the left hand of his words lads.

JRF

Did he watch the game or just the score? Utd were terrible

Lolz very true, Ac couldn't even have made ye look half decent yesterday

Well done jonjo....

Square tomato

02 Nov 2011 21:59:15
Ed - What's the score with Jonjo- under previous managers he got a regular run out (sometimes as starter and occasionally from the bench)- tonight he got a hat-trick with Blackpool- Does Kenny not rate him as highly? {Ed001's Note - erm, for starters Shelvey only joined at the beginning of last season, so there was only one previous manager, Roy, and he barely used him. Secondly Kenny included him numerous times last season, even bringing him on at left back just so he could get a run out. Thirdly, it was Kenny who advised the club to buy him.}

Thanks for putting me right-do you see him as a regular for us any time soon? {Ed001's Note - he is still just a kid, it will be a few years before he will be a regular first teamer. But he has a good chance, his passing is excellent and he can score goals, as he showed tonight.}

He's scored 21 goals tonight (up to now). Why did we loan him out
DM {Ed001's Note - because he is just a kid and not ready to play regularly in the Prem yet.}

Sorry Ed 001 - It was meant to be amusing considering the number of posts about Shelvey's hat-trick! (Sorry - that's 24 goals now (JOKE)).
DM {Ed001's Note - sorry mate, I am not with it tonight, my daughter kindly shared another bug with me *sighs*, I do love how kids like to pass on everything!}

She must have it back Ed because she's passed it on to me. (Actually I've had it for two weeks).
DM {Ed001's Note - bless her, she was sick throughout half term. Nothing worse than being ill during the holidays, still she has been able to get this week off with it too, so it's not all bad!}

Kenny know it well what Jonjo can do. as he was the person bought jonjo. and I think kenny give jonjo some starting 11 football. sure he will back in january as we not replace meirles.

02 Nov 2011 21:58:30
Hat trick for Shelvey tonight, thats 5 in 6, clearly hes above championship level, i have been extremly pleased with his progress this season, he looks an excellent prospect. Have any of the eds caught shelvey this season for blackpool? he seems so comfortable on the ball and his distribution has been excellent

Red Maverick

Next time we need to loan him to epl club

It;s the perfect place for him to gain confidence, he woudln;t have the opportunity or chances in the PL right now

02 Nov 2011 21:54:52
hi ed's i just want to say on a positive note looks like we have a replacement for gerrard in the future, look no further than Jonjo Shelvey!

Man Utd 2 a team called Otelul 0
That included a deflected Shrek goal at the death
My they must be making Alexis x very proud.
What great EPL representatives they are
The real Manchester team comfortable winners away to a decent Spanish side at least they didn't get too overawed by their opponents...
Bet Barca are quaking in their boots Alexisx

Never mind , toon army next for you blues.

It was a terrible game to watch, if i was a united fan i'd want my money back -McMenemy

Eds do we still hold any interest in ola toivonen I know we had some interest in him in the past and just wondered if we still were he can score goals even if it is in the dutch league
thank {Ed002's Note - I doubt it as it pre-dates Carroll being bought.}

He has just extended his contract (today) with PSV until 2014

Looks like JJ Shelvey is benefitting from his loan spell at Blackpool, the lad has scored a hat trick tonight, 2 from open play & a penalty in there 5 - 0 win over Leeds.

-Agree if you want Bellamy or Maxi to play in place of downing.
-Disagree if you want downing to be given another chance to prove himself and retain his starting berth.

Terminator

Downing "another chance"? I didn't realise he'd had one and been dropped.
No to Maxi; nowhere near as good as Downing. And I prefer Bellamy to play through the middle. He can do a job out wide, but he's not a natural winger.

By another chance i mean he hasnt been performing up to his standards lately...should we keep patience or try different combinations....critics are welcome..i am just looking for opinions..

Terminator

Right. Downing's form has dipped a little, after a good start, but you've got to allow for that. Try different combinations, by all means, but I'm not a fan of Maxi and Bellamy is better as a striker. Downing is the best option wide left, at the moment.

The real KB

Alright lad was boss you mentionin boys from the blackstuff

Shake andssssss? Ha ha

Spriggo

Haha, nice one Spriggo.
I was watching that scene in the Green Man on youtube earlier.
Shake handssss. Aghhh ! Pint of bitter for the lad boss.
The Real KB

I'm gonna order the DVD of the film actually mate. Brilliant.
And a play called "One Summer" about two Lpool lads going a trip to North Wales. I can remember watching it, early 80's. With a young David Morrisey. My chick at the time was mad for Icky, his mate in the play.
Check out also a mid 70's play of the week called "Our Day Out". Interesting to see the city back in the 70s & 80s, although some parts haven't changed much.
The Real KB

Classic! never heard of this show (I was only 3 when it aired) so started watching it on youtube and can't get enough of it. Cheers KB and Spriggo!

Yosser: I'm Desperate Dan.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

One Summer I remember that I think it was shown in 1982on itv? The bit that I remember really well is the last episode where Icky didn't have enough money for the motorway toll on his way back to Wales and gets chased by the cops and dies in a car crash. Superb drama, much better than the sh!te they put on tv nowadays.

One Summer was ace! "Let's go to Rhyl, there's a fair in Rhyl", feeding chicks Mars bars and Kidder the paedo. Brilliant!

Waiting for the elite of English football take on the elite of continental Europe in the Champions League.

But please don't keep mentioning European week, it just isn't right and its just not fair on you, so please stop it!

I trust you will be wishing us good luck as we are one of your EPL representatives in Europe this week.

Talking of luck, how come we always get difficult draws in the Carling Cup? Liverpool get easy draws away to Stoke (featuring your man of the match Lee Probert) and now away to easy Chelsea (do you know who LFC's ref will be?), whilst United have difficult games at Aldershot and at home to an in-form Crystal Palace. It just seems that higher powers (I don't mean refs as that goes without saying) are always on the side of Liverpool! You are clearly the chosen ones....or are you?

Oh, keep trying to convince yourselves that Andy Carroll is good enough for Liverpool, it's very sweet!

But of course, you "knowledgeable" Liverpool fans value a big lumbering centre forward with little technical quality or sharpness of movement as a valued component in modern football. Actually that's it, you and King Kenny believe going back to the 80's is the way forward!

I am learning from you "knowledgeable" fans all the time!

Sir Alex x

Sir alex x , dont be switching over to watch city in spain , we dont want you jumping to them , the way you did from everton to utd now do we , lol............lfc

Watching city,the true champions in waiting alex,not yr cheating moaning cry baby of a team,sick men of europe,after yr team playing ballboys for barca how can you talk,jimmybosun,

Good one alex not bad.your hatred for us amuse's me you neighbours are on the verge of takin over the premier league and your more concerned on tryin to wind us up which i take great confort from.you have won more league titles and where still under your skin an i love that.lfc wanted to stay out the champ league to give you yet another chance of TRYING to catchin us.
look forward to the next banter.

kp

You clearly don't know what you talking about mate.Your are quite simply an idiot.

Danny

A few years ago utd were the best team in Europe. Then Barcelona came along. Last year utd were the best team in England. Now they're not even the best team in Manchester. Talk about a fall from grace.

Villarreal! This must be bringing up some bad memories, the same pitch you nearly got to the group stages.....

Jatt YNWA

You're right, Sir Alex x. We shouldn't have bought a big lumbering centre forward. We should have a bought a big lumbering, 6' 3" centre forward/winger......like Bebe. How very forward thinking of you; big lumbering wingers are the 'in thing'. And as a bonus, you get a big' lumbering player who can't play in his two positions.

I'm personally watching Jonjo tear Leeds apart with a double. Alexis you go back and watch Judas v.1 hobble off for your lot.

Chi-Paul

As they say 'he who laughs last, laughs best' and I have no doubt us LFC supporters will be laughing last at the expense of guys like you Sir Alex!

Why do you all bite when this chap posts, just blank him! He will get bored and get back on his playstation sittin in his box room with his Thomas the Tank Engine p.j.'s on! Ignore him

Too kind-playing with himself more like,over his self opinionated hilarious in own mind comments

Why was he talking about the elite when they were playing some Romanian team in 8th place in their league

Not Liverpool rumours but what's gunna happen with tevez, obviously not liverpool but Italy/Spain/brazil? Just want to see the back of his and his agents egos.

Realistic red {Ed002's Note - Manchester City want the player off the books completely as soon as is possible. At present they are holding firm over their £40M evaluation. If a meeting between Joorabchian and Miguel Pardeza can be brokered (and I understand efforts have been made) then we will see alternate solutions put on the table. There is no way that Real Madrid are in a position to pay £40M for Tevez right now so a trade is the next best option. Khedira plus cash will likely be offered up and I don't think he will be of any interest to Manchester City. I rather think City will ask for Di Maria. Another option is a move to Inter Milan - again a player would be involved and they will offer up Macon. A final option may be a move to South America with Manchester City retaining some partial ownership. I think a move within England is unlikely unless it is a last resort.}

Got feeling with Tevez s change of tone.England may yet end up as his last resort

Looking at Inter Milan's position in Italy, they need Tevez. ps can't blame Rafa for their downfall now. ak

ASH I have a question for you....

Is the glass half full?
Or
Is the glass half empty?

Lol
TIZER RED

I think the better question would be,

Freddy Kruegar or Jason X?

Jatt YNWA

Tizer - Ash probably didn't want a glass in the first place, the money would have been better spent on a cup or mug.

JRG

Hmmm....that depends on what the glass is filled with Tizer Red!

Now you're getting it JRG! Why waste your money on a glass when you can hold more for less in a mug?

Ash

Pmsl @ JRG's comment.

Sorry ASH but your the only one to disagree with the "do you think Carroll will prove everyone wrong and be a hit?" Comment.

Come on lad have some faith and trust in KK, he's a fantastic manager and has the clubs best interest at heart. If he didn't think AC would be world class, he wouldn't have spent over the odds for him. He was bought for the long term, remember that.

YNWA is a statement and a way of life @ LFC not just a song. AC should have our full support and should never walk alone.

TIZER RED

But the question was "do you think he will be a hit?" I don't. I still support Liverpool and hope he does well.

Ash

Ed i have just been reading that Lucas Leiva is good friends with Bruno Courtinho and has basically invited him to join liverpool...Do you know if it could happen as i believe he is a very good player

MJ {Ed002's Note - So Lucas is dealing with the transfers for Liverpool now. I know practically nothing of Coutinho aside from him playing for a Polish side I don't even remember the name of. Can Lucas get his buddies work permits as well, because he will need one?}

Maybe Lucas will organise himself a move...

Was only sayin what i read ED but thanks for the sarcasm it was very much appreciated

MJ {Ed002's Note - Maybe it is true MJ. But he plays for a minor Polish team (I don't recall which) and he certainly is not a regular international so would need a work permit to play in England. Aside from that I know nothing of him at all.}

He might have a polish or some other european passport {Ed002's Note - Why would he get himself a Polish passport? And how could he possibly get "some other european" passport?}

^^ ha ha you couldnt make it up.

Has anyone seen the trailer for that new film that's coming out on Friday - "Will" ?
Damien Lewis' (the actor, you'll know him when you see him) scouse accent isn't bad.
Stevie G's one line sounds as wooden as a false leg.
The film looks rubbish. Lol.

Henderson better than Huddlestone!!!!! Lmao. Henderson wouldnt even make a spurs reserve bench let alone being better than hudds. Just newspaper bullsh@t anyway, hudds would cost 20mil plus.

20m plus ?
No way Jose Enrique.
The Real KB

Huddlestone is so slow he makes lucas and carra look like they race horses... Hendo over him anyday

Thats £20m to you lot. Any other club £10m. You dont mind paying over the odds for average players do you? Thanks.

Huddlestone should stay where he is, cos he'll get a game when Modric does one.
The Real KB

He does have one mean shot

I'd rather we got ramsey

Ramsey!! LoL!

02 Nov 2011 15:01:09
do you think Carroll will prove everyone wrong and be a hit ?
Cheers :)

Liverpool Fan No.7

No.

Ash

If he keeps performing like he did at the weekend then yes.

I've always thought he will be a hit, so he wont prove Everyone wrong...
mdp

He will prove all the doubters wrong and when he does no doubt most will pretend they liked him beforehand like the did with Lucas.

KT!

Yes, without a doubt

Ash we all knew what you'd say being one of the most negative posters on here lol

If Kenny has paid that much for him he must believe he can turn him into something special so I will go with yes.

Give this lad time and see why you do what you do and the king does what he does.

TIZER RED

People focus to much on his price tag but i hope that he turns into the prolific goal scorer that we all hope he will be (except Ash anyway) lol

MJ

Least I'm consistent, I still don't like lucas... But Carroll has ability at least.

Lucas is class and one of the best in the league in his position.
TIZER RED

He will improve but not to be great or anything special

I remember when i used to hate lucas, would always f*c* up are play... i still dont like him ha but hes an ok player now

I don't think there's any shame in saying i didn't always like lucas. he did used to f*** everything up regularly.

But now he's genuinely a quality player and rightfully one of the first on the team sheet week in week out. Fair play to the lad for overcoming everything he has, anyone who's still not won over has a screw loose.

Team vs Swansea id play

..................reina....................
kelly....skrtel...agger....enrique
...........lucas...adam............
henderson...suarez.....downing
.................carroll...................

id like to see G.Johnson play further up field in front of Kelly as it would solve the RM side and Kelly is a solid RB, also we will not be replacing S.Gerrard as we already have the talent at the club in young J.Shelvey and J.Henderson who are more than capable to fill his boots given time just like Gerrard was when he was coming thru the ranks.

Just want to say a massive well done to Billy Sharp last night, true sportsman.

Well done Billy...A true sportsman ynwa.

Carlos tevez £250,000 a week and refuses to play because he doesnt feel up to it.. Billy sharp £10,000 a week and plays and scores two days after his son dies....shows how selfish some players can be!

Upmost respect to Billy Sharp a real pro footballer, if Billy is at 1 end of the scale then Tevez is at the other. God bless Billy and his family.

Very good shout. Respect to the lad.

If liverpool buy in the jan window would it be most likely that it would be a natural right sided midfielder/winger. or will they just wait untill the summer to buy some world class players of coarse pending on whether they reach fourth or higher? {Ed002's Note - January buys will be driven by providing replacements for players leaving and injuries. Additional any major shortcomings will be addressed.}

How would Glen Johnson fare on the right wing, with Kelly as right back?

OK . It is true that LFC moved many players on in the prime of their careers or when the team was at it's peak however , there are players that played well into their 30's - Phil Neal , Ian Callaghan , Alan Hansen , Kenny Dalglish etc .

The trick is knowing when to move a particular player on . There is nothing to suggest the best interests of LFC is without Steven Gerrard during this rebuilding phase in LFC history .

1977

Carra 2 years ago and Gerrard to finish this year. There we go.

Don't forget, the more you react, the more I know you really, really appreciate me, and as always, I am assured you agree with my underlying messages!

I apologies for my "Few daft men" post. I should have realised that it would be arduous for most of you to read for such a lengthy period, whilst attempting to understand the message using a famous film script. It was far too sophisticated, so don't feel bad about yourselves!

Don't forget, I am here to cheer you up. I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you!

Sir Alex x

And we are laughing at you my favorite bluenose :) thanx again
Mr.Jones

Sir Alex, be honest with us ...this is your life isn't it? It's the motivation which moves you from your bed each morning, you were possibly a failed footballer, maybe a failed X-factor contestant but now you are 'Sir Alex' the 'cuckoo' that lays his metophoric eggs on another fans site. You NOW have the notoriety that you crave. Congratulations on your new found celebrity although sadly you will continue to hear ...'Your name's not down, you're not coming in!'

Sir Alex, I must say I do enjoy the little quirks and comments, clearly you are rather gifted on the keyboard!. Quite unusual really, because I thought most of the Man Utd fans were just "trailer trash"!! Keep it going, its good that we can chuckle at the absurdities!.

Liverpool it would be nice to see a little attempt to test the water on hazard just never no do you.

I'd like to bring in ozil from real Madrid and a tidy bid with skertel as part of the deal for matt hummels and Cahill then the competion for a place in defence is greater and they will work 100% and be there for five years.

Would love to bring in wellinton as extra coverage for attack maybe start a few plus a nice 5 year contract

Fingers crossed I no I speak for many when I say Y.N.W.A

p.s when Suarez starts scoring he won't be far of messi level..!

Ozil? Get real! Hw we guna get him.
U namin all thees players but we gt alot oredi. U guna get likes of wellinton n cahill sit on the bench. Wat bout youngsters! I wnna see kelly/coates wiv wisdom at CB n likes of sterling morgan n suso in attack

Even though I agree with bringing some of the youngsters in, I wish you would talk in English. Are kids that lazy now they cant even be bothered to write properly

Next you want us to bring in Messi and Iniesta for 1mil and a bag walkers crisps

GOD

Well said, ild like to see more youngsters get minutes here and there, league or cups to help their growth, even for 10-15 minutes, during the season. Out of the players suggested ild choose Cahill only.

Red&Bred

Init like,

Why dont you play them in Europe?....oh hang on...!

Whys everyone slagged for ambition.Ok over ambition at times.But you dont ask,you dont get.Whats wrong with trying? As long as its a serious attempt!

is De Jong worth it
Tomorrow I'm going to Ajax vs Dinamo Zagerab in the Champions League and looking at Seim De Jong at the Ajax Amsterdam I am sitting in area 121 just above the ground in the middle overlooking the ground. I will give you my report on him tomorrow night.

LFCIA

Its luuk de jong plays for fc twente.DORSET RED

We are not interested in him, we are looking at Luuk de Jong his brother.

I watch a lot of Dutch football, Ajax being my favourite team. I think Siem De Jong is in a different league to his brother. Excellent playmaker who chips in with a lot of goals. Luuk on the other hand? Reminds me of Berbatov... Watch the dutch league people. Some great talents coming out in recent years.
Kuyt, Suarez, Dzuduzsak.
Even years gone by.
Molby, Berkamp...
This is just off the top of my head, i'm sure theres been hundreds in the last few decades. Some real gems over there.

YNWA! (Adam)
