I hope LFC look to sign the below realistic targets

- Clint dempsey- Fulham-Aged 29 but offers so much.

- Gylfi Sigurdsson-Swansea- Aged 22- For me this is the ideal candidate to replace Gerrard

- Jordan Rhodes- Huddersfield- Aged 22 - Prolific goal scorer with 36 goals in league 1 this year

- Matt Jarvis- Wolves- Ages 25- With Wolves relegated we could get him on the cheap

The above players i think are all quality and realistic.

I would also love to sign

-Soldado
-Christian Eriksen
-Lavezzi
-Adam Johnson
-Munian

I think the above names are very unlikely

LTP The red

That is such a poor list

How is that poor ?
Do you know anything about any of the above players ? clearly not.

GIMP

^ And your name say's it all!

Adam Johnson, no thanks.

U have to be joking about the 60 million Eros ed {Ed002's Note - No joke, it will be in the region of 60M euros.}

What is this about? {Ed002's Note - The money that Chelsea will get out of the Champions League - there is a post further down somewhere.}

They broke records with £45million up until the semi final, expected to be in excess of £48million if they win it! the stats were published after the barca semi final

And we'd get what for 2 cups (if were to win both), 2-3M or so?

I thought Gareth Barry was immense tonight and city deserved their result. Just a few words on Niall Quinns commentary, i thought he sounded intelligent, knowledgeable and witty everything you would want in a commentator and although his allegiance is with city he did his job professionally and without bias. Take note gary neville

Sorry as much as I couldn't stand him as a player Gary Neville is an excellent pundit.
Andy Gray and Richard Keys used to make me want to throw the tv out of the window so for me I'd rather listen to Gary Neville any day of the week before those two obnoxious clowns.
ALB

Yeah hate to say it but I think Neville is a cracking pundit. Red Greco

Don't know what you were watching but most of my commentry was courtesy of Steve MacManaman(ps it was a stream from the US i think lol) thank God i didn't have to listen to or look at Gary 'ratface' Neville

just been watching a video on youtube of rasmus elm he looks a great player

30 Apr 2012 22:45:07
somebody please explain why we shouldn't be wanting an english team to win the CL? Does my head in when people don't support the English team. I got so much stick for supporting United in last years final, don't understand modern football fans.

This ain't the 70's dude... Chelsea = Foreign owner, foreign manager, mostly foreign players, what is there to support?

Because we're not all English patriots? I don't see he sense in supporting our local and national rivals just because they are playing Johnny Foreigner. that's type of attitude smells bad to me.
C'mon Bayern

cozinoz

I'm hardly a modern football fan but I couldn't disagree with you more.
Why on earth would I want any other club to do well in any competition? They are not representing England at all and are not trying to win for England.
I'm sick of hearing this ridiculous nonsensical argument that I should support another team.
I don't and I won't

Chris in Tamworth

In the words of Victor Meldrew " I don't believe that post"
ALB

I will for once agree with you scousers on this one, if it was the other way around there is no way i would want you too win, so its only fair to expect the same back. No malice involved its just why would you want your rivals to do better than you, bragging rights are a big part of it.

SHED END

Cos right wing tory club with history of obnoxious players, owners, fans, M.Ps. Who were nothing before cash and now are exceedingly arrogant.DO YOUR HOMEWORK!Just like clowns other day questioning the origin of first fans adopting YNWA,i despair!

Quite agree SHED. I would only want Chelsea to win the CL if we win the FA Cup and to be honest only then because you've lost so many semi-finals. That said I can never really forgive you for losing the final to Man U so if you do lose I'll probably have a giggle at Torres as well to be fair.
ALB

To the poster directly after me, this keeps popping up that we were nothing before the money, we were in the top 6 for 6 seasons running, including a season with just 3 losses, FA Cup winners 97 and 2000. If we were nothing before the money, what does that make you now? Nothing, going off YOUR own logic

He's on at least a 10 year contract, surely

They said that about Steve Bennett mate but they still replaced him

These montages are notoriously unreliable, but as a lot of posters are asking about Rasmus Elm, here is a link to some video clips. Given his ability from set-pieces, if the player does join, it would be very surprising if Andy Carroll left.

Just had a look ,he looks quite steady, will need to work on left peg a bit but could do downings job (put the ball on the money ).cheers psv

Was it just me or apart from spam losing it was a pretty awful game. With as much that was riding on it, you think at least someone would go for it!

30 Apr 2012 22:01:12
I know it's only youtube but take a look at what Rasmus Elm can do before you judge him. he seems to have great technique when striking a ball

I'm sure Andrey Voronin looks good on You-Tube mate, but i've watched him a few times this season and looks a good player, he has that killer pass ability that will cut defenses wide open... Saying that doh, the deal for Elm isn't concrete, we'll have to wait and see, fingers crossed

I would like to recall to a post a put up a week also ago. I said that no matter how good Man City play, United would win!

I would like to publicly say, that I was WRONG!

GO ON CITY!! ( ooops, I wasn't supposed to say that out loud!)

K. Bennett

FERGIE time has come even BLIND can see and if he doesn't call a day his reputation is at risk coz many fans of united are calling his head and they need MAJOR I mean MAJOR rebuilding and I don't think they have got money to compete with other european GIANTS. Or SCHOLES and GIGS might continue another two or three season who knows coz signing scholes back was clear they don't have money to compete with other clubs

30 Apr 2012 22:00:11
I know I will probably get shot down for this, but within 2 years, I think Andy Carroll will be twice the player that Rooney is. I say this because firstly Andy really is improving, and I think he's the type of CF who will come to his best in his mid twentys, and secondly, I think Rooney is highly over rated. There really isn't that much to his game, and I didn't see anything tonight that made me change my mind. Nick.

You are utterly clueless Andy Carroll is the biggest donkey ever.

Andy's struggling to settle at Liverpool.
All the top European sides are monitoring the situation :) Big Andy's preference is Sunderland as they play Alehouse football!

Hmmm! You pick on Rooney on a night when he was operating without any support and you put Carroll's name up there to stir things up a bit. Here's what I believe, you are just trying to make us Liverpool fans look like idiots. Leave Rooney and Carroll alone, mate.

Canadian Fan

You scousers can be funny at times

SHED END

You never are Shed End

Rooney's a top draw footballist and i'm sure we would all love to see him in the Liverpool shirt.Nick, you are a clueless idiot, ask yourself why isn't AC at Man U.KD could take a leaf out of Fergie's book when it comes to spotting talent,if he did we might not be in the situation were in.I hope AC comes good but don't compare him to Rooney. The first big mistake we made in the modern era was not snapping Rooney up as a teenager,he is arguably the best talent to emerge in the UK since Scholes and Gerrard !! B

I come on here when i want a laugh, not to provide you with one no name

SHED END

I'm a fan of Carroll playing for us and I find this post ridiculous...even Messi isn't twice the player Rooney is so how the hell would Carroll become that? I don't see Carroll becoming as technically skilled as Rooney but in the next few years, it is possible Carroll could reach the same level of value or effectiveness for his team

Coz messi is more than twice rooney is?

Im sorry Nick but theres nothing else to say apart from your wrong

Eds it's that time of year when madcap names are thrown in the ring by all us armchair managers so here's my random name that I don't think I've seen on this site (Diego chapel) of sporting Lisbon attacking right sided midfielder who could set the premier league on fire because he is very direct and unpredictable was very impressive against bilbao and would be a cheap option what you think?

It's Capel, not chapel, and he's the worst diver I've ever seen. Talented, but I wouldn't want someone who dives so much.

Kieran.

eds whats really annoying is that why is everyone saying we only have a 20mil budget.its so stupid {Ed002's Note - They are saying it because that is what has been reported.}

Do you believe everything that's reported ed? {Ed002's Note - Only if I have had confirmation on Twitter.}

Evening ed and fellow reds .just a quick point, has kenny changed his policies then because all new signings are in house til we need to know , but everyone seems to know everthing lately. ive read through the majority of post regarding rasmus elm (with the help of ctrl + f :) )

just wondering what type of midfielder is he?
is he a player like david silva who is quality and something our team really misses

thanks

He is a batter version of charlie adam. he main attributes are manly freekicks

".....He is a batter version of charlie adam. he main attributes are manly freekicks...."

batter ? :)
I think Adam has been "Codding" LFC all season, he didnt even cut the "mustard" at Rangers :)

Yes he looks like a fish out of water lolol snarff

Sorry edds i know its not football related but i posted over night about a test i had in college and obv i passed and the reason there was mistakes in my spellings was because i dident check over what i wrote for the clowns who wanted to comment come on liverpool chealski cant wate. Torres must of been motivated by suarez scoring his 1st hatrick for us and got 1 for himself (or goal at barca was the that brought his confidence back). Either way going to be a really tense game but i think we will be in for a good game maby carrol can come on at the end and get another winner. Now that would semi justify his price tag cough cough. I hope it dont go to penaltys how many times have we missed from the spot this season or we prob hit the woodwork evry time sorry bowt the rant. STEMLOCC1

Not having a go but you need to check your spelling on this one as well

Id be more apologetic about the spelling!

Spelling like that must be a wind up.....surely ?

This is hilarious for many reasons, the best though has to be 'i had a test and obv passed' haha. Like a young Oscar Wilde.

Hi all
Could you tell me what you know about Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, it says in the Guardian that he is of interest to us.

Thanks
littleT

Cant wait for the Kop to chant his name!
Scousehouse

He's a brilliant centre back. Can't see us getting him this summer though since we have Agger, Skrtel, Coates and Carra.

Kieran

Can someone think up a song for him please?

30 Apr 2012 20:11:04
my view for this summer
if we sell Carroll and C.Adam + some other guys and transfer budget we'll have ~55mil. to spend
we should sign:
1) Olivier Giroud 13.5mil
2)Gaston Ramirez 16mil.
3)R.Elm 8mil.
4)L.De Jong 12.5mil.
5) Kagawa 6.5mil.
~56.5mil. well within our budget
if it comes to Giroud or De Jong - definitely Giroud
Kagawa is rumored to be available for ~5mil. is it true?

Now that would be a great summer!

I'd say 2 out of the 5 is realistic, and Kagawa is priced at more like 15mil. good stuff tho

4 mins of youtube footage may not tell the whole story but Elm looks a pretty sweet player! Not scarred to have a shot! Give him a chance before everyone slats him!

I read an article that said he is a technically sound player who has an eye for goal...however, it goes on to say that he tends to shoot a lot, to the point of annoying his teammates...

30 Apr 2012 19:35:07
I think it'd be a smart idea for Kenny to negotiate early like Arsenal and Chelsea to show we mean decent business this year.

The difference is they buy better players

30 Apr 2012 19:30:26
Is it just me or could anyone else not give a toss, who wins the Manc derby?

My team for tomorrow night

Doni (keep Jones for final with Pepe)

Flanno Carragher Coates Robinson

Kuyt/Suso Coady Jonjo Sterling

Carroll/Ajdoran Eccleston

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

That will be far from the team against Fulham - but thanks for sharing

Hans

So mate suso in spain.

I think it's just you

How long you been supporting LFC Blair? If it is long then you do know who all us Red supporter's want to win! And as i'm telling you off City have just scored! Hehe!

I can see why you've done that but..

I'd have:

Pepe

Flanno Carragher Skrtel Enrique

Kuyt Jonjo Spearing Henderson Sterling

Carroll

BthekingB

Drop everyone I say and keep our 1st squad for Saturday. I no my team won't be anywhere near Kennys team. Just what I would do.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Tomorrow I'd play

Reina

Flanagan Skrtel Coates Enrique

Downing Henderson Shelvey Sterling

Kuyt Carroll

Let the kids play!

Right I have not posted for a while, but the only thing I can say that I have heard at the moment regarding transfer gossip,is that the effort to try and sign cavani is still on going, but this is just going through the motions,if he joins then that is a bonus.

liverpool's main focus is to try and sign an out an out striker/attacking player, one who will, like suarez will become an instant hit...

and despite the usual suspect names of hazard etc being touted,my info suggest's that goetz is being strongly watched by us and that a bid will soon be announced before the euro's start.

Mr Broughton

If it's Mario Gotze you're talking about Mr Broughton. I think it will be pretty hard to sign him. He signed a new contract with Dortmund til 2016.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Dream on pal

We're going for Gaston Ramirez Mr Broughton.

Hi Eds,
Great site btw,and i know that you find those kind of questions rarely, but please answer this one:

I'm unlucky to never have seen Luuk DE JONG playing, but how do you find his pace?,is he fast?
Use this to help me:
Very quick.[eg:Bellamy,Downing,José Enrique].
Quick.[eg:Gerrard,Suárez].
Slow.[eg:Carroll,Adam].
I'd like your answer,mate.
Y.N.W.A
cheers {Ed001's Note - quick I would say.}

30 Apr 2012 18:59:28
I don't have anything against elm or any new player but why we are going for CM when we need wingers and strikers?
Have i missed something..ed do you see us selling someone from current roaster of CM as it seems aqua is coming back too..

Red indian {Ed001's Note - we have lacked quality in midfield all season, Gerrard barely plays, Aqua is just not deserving of a shirt, Spearing is just not a first choice level player. You need to have a few options in the most important part of the team.}

Honda would solve that problem and we could actually get him if we tried. £12m mark. Quality player.

BigD

You have to face reality. At the end of this season we will probably let Spearing and Adams go. Gerrard realitically has another 2 years left in him at the most. Aquilani exists as a Liverpool player on paper only and he will be gone this summer. The future is Henderson, Shelvey, Lucas, Elm. All good, all young, all with a long future. Good young reserves to make sure of depth and place competition. RED LENIN

Elm is a good player and a good signing if we get him for 8 mil

30 Apr 2012 18:43:29
Eds clearly we are making a lot of chances according to stats and have been poor at finishing these chances off. Therefore i don't believe that a lot of changes need to be made to the squad other than the obvious quality striker who can finish and maybe a right winger. Also depending on replacements for kuyt and carragher. With youngsters expected to take the place of backup squad positions. What do u have to say about this? {Ed001's Note - erm not sure what there is to say about that. That is pretty much how I see it.}

30 Apr 2012 19:01:05
One last thing to say to all you, well let's call you fans. I don't know what your fans of but it's either not lfc or your completely deluded and still think we can buy the players that man u man c and Chelsea can buy because we can get used to it. Anyway my point is you think elm is good enough why? Every one thought Swansea wouldn't have a chance in this league and now you all want Either half there squad or some rediculouse names we have no chance of getting my point is the Swansea players were unknown now they've had a chance to prove themselves you think most of them are super stars just give them a bloody chance

Eric the red

30 Apr 2012 18:46:18
eds/macca
can you please summarise all that is happening at the moment as it would be really appreciated by all us supporters. could you please tell us if we have signed elm? what is happening with giroud and de jong and what is the situation with adam johnson?
This would be great
cheers

30 Apr 2012 18:36:31
eds any idea who kk went to watch in france and who else he has went to watch this season? thanks {Ed002's Note - No but there seems to be plenty of speculation and about half a dozen central midfield players to be added to the squad.}

I believe he went to watch Oliver Giroud.

30 Apr 2012 18:35:30
Wikipedia says elm signed for liverpool but yet on personal info it says tottenham hotspur so hard to believe. I am so gutted at monent with 20m budget i was hoping for another exciting summer looking firward to new season but hey presto

Wikipedia is edited by the general public so it's open to abuse & wind ups...so forget it. He has not signed (yet) but may have agreed to it when the transfer window becomes open. What's this 20m budget you speak of? It makes no sense - we don't know what players are yet available, If Messi was to become available for 21m, are you saying we wouldn't buy him? We will spend regards what we need...

dd

Dude, don't pay any attention to wikipedia. It once claimed that Pol Pot was a type of casserole.

30 Apr 2012 18:33:33
Before I start I'd like to say keep up the good work eds. Now I on this site day in and day our reading the posts and I've got to admit some people have fair opinions on things. But other people seem to have no idea what there talking about and I struggle to see the reason for that. For me it makes no sense in buying a striker and a right winger because that means Suarez or Carroll have to leave because both don't deserve to be a rotation player and to me Carroll is just as important as Suarez in the team because he holds up the ball well to let others get into space and supporting him, which I believe we haven't done enought this season. And think the reason for that is because when gerrad came back and Suarez finished his ban, we lost the most important player in our midfield and that was Lucas. He gave us stability and let others go forward. At one point before he got injured he had the most successful tackles in the league. I just think that we need to romove and dead wood in our team and replace with quality youngsters or give more opportunities to the ones we already have. We should spend the bulk of our transfer budget to bring a right winger who will hit the ground running.

30 Apr 2012 18:32:55
Hello Eds,
you've probably answered it but I understand the club is already making plans (bits?) for new players to come, and trying to sell players they don't want. If the manager changes, will the new one start all over again with his ideas or will he have to go along with those plans, at least to some extend. Thanks. Good to have you Eds. {Ed002's Note - See previous answers.}

30 Apr 2012 18:30:01
If anybody had any sense aka the media, they would of realized that when they published Kenny was watching Elm on Sunday. That Elm was actually in the squad. He wasn't in the squad due to his wife expected to give birth.

30 Apr 2012 18:07:08
If Reina does leave, with Barcelona his likely destination, expect to see Craig Gordon come in on a free. Atletico Madrid are also interested in him but he'd prefer to stay in the premier league because his family are settled. His injury record isn't great for the past few seasons but he's a world class shot stopper. Would be a great piece of business if we get 20-25m for Pepe.

We need a keeper who bosses his area, is good on crosses and delivers well on out throws, kicks etc. Gordon is not that man.

Iggypop

Gordons been injured hasnt he?

Hey eds, assuming the Elm deal goes through and bearing in mind he looks to be something of a set piece specialist, does this give Adam a cause for a concern about his future? Are you guys aware as to whether or not the Liverpool heirarchy are happy with his exploits this season?
Thanks, RedBean. {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

I think what should give Adam cause of concern is the penalty miss at Wembley!

Origional poster, for a start how many times have you seen him play?

Fergie was chasing too ...so what is it you know the rest of us don't>?

The player has finally started to show fans in the Dutch league, that the hype surrounding him when he was Swedens under 21 captain was justified. He only as 1 yr left on his contract, and that's why they are letting him go on the cheap.Fergie said Adams corners are worth 10 million so this lads must be worth 20 million. He's a dead ball specialist. and we haven't done enough in that area this season. He strikes a good ball 8 million in this day and age is peanuts.

To all those slating elm already just remember that alonso wasnt a big name either when we signed him

Dont ever compare alonso to elm, u should retire as a football fan for putting them in the same catagory

Yes he was! He was very well known, and we paid quite alot for him, especially as transfer fees weren't so high back then. At the time, wasn't he the most expensive player Liverpool had ever bought? I might be wrong, but he was up there. Nick.

He never compared them he just said Alonso wasnt a big name and became one for us. So stop calling players before they even play for the team because you never know how they will turn out. If he turns out to be a good player you would be one of them who said you backed him all the way

Wozza

For the record, I wasn't slating him, I was just pointing out that Alonso was very well known when we signed him, and I was excited as hell when we signed him (truly one of Rafa's coups). As for Rasmus, he's got my full support. I don't know much about him, but it looks like he's one of ours now. Also, you don't need a team of champions to have a champion team. It will give me great pleasure when we win the league without a team of eleven £30 million pound players. Nick.

Nick i wasnt replying to you mate i was replying to the second poster who didnt even leave a name

Wozza

One thing for sure with the signing of elm Liverpool will be keeping at least one title. The butt ugliest team in the prem.

Dont you just love the English Football Media, most of whom are biased for the London Clubs. When Roy was at Liverpool he was a great Coach and it was the Liverpool players and club who were at fault, and they Cried that the Club shouldn't sack Roy, although he was rubbish.
Now it looks as if the FA want Roy to Coach England they are saying he is not good enough and they dont want him any where near the job, good enough for Liverpool but not good enough for their beloved England!!

What goes around comes around I say LOL

Evered

A lot of the "southern press" as you call them are northern

When I watch Sky, I hear a lot of Northern and Scottish accents. So don't know about this "southern" thing in English media.

Where can you see "Southern press" i the above post, you dont have to be southern to be biased towards a London Club!

I know this is a Liverpool page so dont want to talk too much about Woy Hodgson but honestly i hope he does well, this is our national team after all and I think he cant do any worse than he did at Liverpool, but it will be a tough job but if he has the guts to approach it with fresh ideas and not use the same players that have consistently failed for years, or playing the best player in England (Gerrard) left wing to compensate getting Lampard in the starting 11. but i am really happy the F.A have not gone for Redknapp, without the BBC gossip column he could not identify a good player to save his life, apart from the obvious ones like van der vart, adebayor, oh he wanted tevez too, i wonder where he unearthed these never heard of gems?

I hope england gets Roy as its a match made in hell

I personally dont give a monkeys who gets the england job. i support liverpool not england therefore wouldnt be arsed if they didnt qualify

Man Utd In's - Kagawa and Hazard

Liverpool In's - Elm and De Jong

See the difference? {Ed022's Note - You < Me. See the difference?}

All the Names have some different letters in Them!!!

Lyndon

The difference? One is make believe, the other isn't.

davethebutcher

Utd go after quality

We go after ????

How would you have rated most of newcastles recent purchases before seeing them play? Every purchase is a risk even those that come with big reputations and hard to pronounce names. Give the new boys a chance to play at least

The difference? Man Utd have got 2 midfielders/wide players. We've got a midfielder and a striker?

Lol Hazard's going to City

Utd go after quality

We go after ??

Don't ever, ever, ever, ever use the term 'we' in your future posts again.

Thank you.

United can go after whoever they want - couldn't care less. They went after Ashley Young and Phil Jones. Did you see them today? We were lucky they beat us to them!

Eds was wondering how to start a petition to have you ALL knighted for repeatedly answering repetitive questions and dealing with constant abuse. Just thought if people who play Football or Act or sing deserve 1 then you all definatly do.

Man Utd dressing room b4 KO tonight. 'Right lads we should've had this title wrapped up but we've been sloppy. We can't let these blue b*lts snatch it now because they'll never let us live it down. They stung us on the Munich anniversary & stuffed us 6-1. I don't care what you do punch, elbow, push, pull, kick or dive get the h*ck out there & get it done!' At this point Ferguson steps in........ "Cheers Ref I'll take it from here !!"

Will you all stop being so f@*king nice to Hodgson, he was awful “ I've been watching Liverpool at Anfield for 35 years and his stint as manager was the worst few months in all that time, even worse the Sounesses attempt¦.

Unless he Slipped ya Nan a Crippler while he was at Liverpool Boss!!
I can't see the reason to dislike the man that much In the space of 6 months

Lyndon

Don't dislike Roy, but he was and still is a defence minded negative approach manager, the highlight of his stay was myself talking to my mate on the moby to tell him to watch out for me as I was bored and then the ball hit me on the back of the head (I've previously posted the story). England will be organised and boring, he lost the LFC dressing room after one month, can't wait for the Euro's now, although I can't stand Harry R!

why dont we spend our entire budget or a big chunk of it on 1 world class player and do that every pre-season rather than bring in 5 or 6 average players in like we usually do? every summer we spend as much as man utd, chelsea and spurs and more than arsenal yet we arnt even close to them in league. id rather spend most of money available on 1 brilliant player that can make a differance than bring in 5 or 6 that just make up the numbers or that can do a job but wont make the team any better that wot we already got. do u agree?? i no that some players will want champions league football but there are still quality players that will join us and that will make a differance. players like suarez and in past we spent a lot on torres, mascherano and alonso and have been brilliant buys. lets spend big on 1 or 2 rather than spend same amount on 5 or 6 average players

Ok, you've got £30million to spend on one player, who do you buy?

IaNlFc

And if said superstar sustains a long term injury!?

I would buy AC and set fire to him

Thank God the original poster is not Liverpool Manager. Even woy wud be world class compared to u. Have u heard of something called 'team game?' And why r s****y still struggling even after spending 300 million pounds?

I love the way this Elm is getting slated already, it's the same with other players as well. Ask yourself this - are they Liverpool players? And why would they want to come to a team where the so called supportives just are constantly on their back along with the manager! Despite poor results I am happy with this season. 2 cup finals, 1 in the bag and we have not played too bad. For Christ sake we've hit the post over 30 times this season, penalties not given and a lot of key players out for good lengths of time. I think a couple of signings and a bit more luck and we're not far off being great again

30 Apr 2012 15:29:53
This is not a Henderson slagging off session before I start just to let everyone know. But I would like to ask- who would play shelvey over henderson in the FA Cup Final? Shelvey seems to have a bit more drive about him, more desire, and takes more risks.

Opinions welcome.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

Im a fan of shelvey personally but i feel its unfare to judge henderson against him at the moment as henderson is continually played on the right when he is clearly a centre mid and shelvey is always played centrally as he prefers.

We are lucky in many aspects to have 2 such promising young brit players lets hope they both make the mark in the coming seasons

Not as keen at Tracking back!!

Not a chance, Henderson in my opinion has been fantastic the last few weeks, his confidence has been growing as have his performances, certainly in the middle of the park, Dirk Kuyt has been praised for years for working hard even though he was awful at everything else, Hendersons work rate as of late has been nothing short of phenomenal, and he deserves his place in the team, although i think Shelvey is a really good player i think Henderson still has the edge.
cobra

Kuyt scored vital goals and even chipped in with good assists , im talking about champions league mate i doubt henderson could handle the champions league. RedTurk

They're different players, so hard to compare I think. Henderson is more of the box-to-box type CM and Shelvey is much more comfortable attacking. They're both good and could both be great, but at the moment I think Henderson is (generically) more solid, whilst Shelvey is a tad unpredicatable and less disciplined.

So, which to play would for depend on the rest of the squad and how the game is approached. All out attack = Shelvey, Possession/more defensive approach = Henderson.

RDL

Believe me in a few years time you will be raving about Jordan Henderson being one of the best midfielders in the country.
Cobra

To say Kuyt only worked hard for Liverpool is completely unfair.

Very true, he also lost the ball at least a dozen times in every game, missed countless sitters, before he may put one or two in, and played at Liverpool for 3 seasons longer than he should have done.

30 Apr 2012 15:03:54
I just find some of the negativity towards elm a bit silly we have not even signed him yet. I wish any player luck that comes to our club. It's not the amount you spend but the class you buy and if Kenny thinks he needs a player then that's good enough for me.

What a hat trick by Luis the weekend. And good luck to Roy if he becomes England manager.

I must say I'm very disappointed in the way some posters are slaughtering Roy Hodgson on here (it's as bad as the joke journos in the red tops!).
He wasn't the man for us but come on he didn't do it on purpose it was just wrong club, wrong time.
Let's remember he got Switzerland to 2 major finals and had them ranked at no 3 in the FIFA rankings, now that's a lot more credentials than barra' boy 'arry can boast.

Chris in Tamworth

Worst period as a Liverpool fan, and he was a massive part of that, loss to Everton the best performance of the season? London is further than West Brom? Good job.

Jatt YNWA

Roy sets is team out not to get beaten, and that's why he wasn't loved at Anfield.Liverpool fans expect to try and win games,I actually liked the man, I just don't like his style of playing.I hope he does well at England and wish him well. I am not looking forward to watching England matches though.

Has he actually got the job? Cannot do any worse than the last few managers? It might just be his calling?

He was crap and still is

He did ok with switzerland

On a plus point, glen johnson will have a nice relaxing summer on the beach away from the england camp.
i'd be very surprised if hodgson picks any defenders that even go past the halfway line.

He also said a lot of clangers when speaking to the media

Exciting summer for us pool fans.... Misreable season bR cup runs but id take chanps league over finals any day, de jong and elm only summer signings for us dalglish to stick with our last summers signings

So for the future you'd be happy to finish 4th in the league every season and not win everything else ever?! Finals and trophies is what its all about!! Do you get together with your mates and when the final whistle in the final league game is blown and the team is 4th do you celebrate? Then watch all the other teams play in cup finals? I'd prefer for us to be winning trophies and go onto every league season to do our best and aim for 1st not 4th! {Ed002's Note - Much of the point is based upon the money that comes from the Champions League. I think if you knew the difference that makes then perhaps players of a certain calibre counld be attracted thereby increasing the chances of winning cups et al.}

What makes me laugh at comments like yours mate,is that the champions league is a cup competition.I would have also liked to have qualified to be in it next yr,but to say that the other competitions are worthless in comparison is not correct.I would love to finish the season with 2 trophies, having to knock out City, United on the way and beaten Chelsea, in the 2 competitions, who have made the final of the champions league, to do so.We have had a frustrating time at home in the Prem this season, We have not got what we deserved from the games. Our performances have warranted a lot more.I believe we need a bit more in the way of clinical finishing. We do need to look at players who have proven goal scoring, in there profiles. The great liverpool sides had just that.Kennedy,Mcdermott, Souness Case, quartet and the Barnes Mcmahon Molby Houghton sides would guarantee us goals.Downing ,Lucas, Spearing, and Henderson don't.Kenny will be trying to rectify this in the summer.

Jiminy Cricket

Spoken like a true armchair fan!! Anyone who had ever been to watch us win something wouldn't come out with this type of comment. Yes the money and pulling power of champions league help build a team but why build a team if not to win trophies? Give me liverpools last 7 years over arsenal's who have consistently finished top 4 but won nothing.

You don't have to patronise me Ed002 I know as well as anyone the revenue and money the Champions League brings. I would also like us to be in the champions league when we are ready to compete in it, which we are building to do. I just think its wrong the attitude some fans, from various clubs and some players, have towards other competitions. Look at Bilbao the other night when they got through to the Europa final and Llorente, a world cup winner, was obviously delighted and emotional at reaching the final and all people do in this country is degrade it and knock it. I just think it's the wrong attitude of win win now and treating the champions league like its the end and be all because to me the league is far more important and I think we should be aiming to win the league before we even think about the champions league, just my opinion. You can still build a strong team without being in the champions league so for me it shouldn't just be about qualifying for a tournament by being 4th best, football used to be about winning trophies not just about money, it's a shame.

It's still about winning trophies mate.We have beaten Man utd, Chelsea, Man City, and Everton in cup competitions this season and that in it's self is a get in there, buzzing feeling, and that's just what we watch any sport for.It 's all about winning. Can you see any Man Utd, or Man City fan ,if they lose tonight, saying oh well, we can still watch us get knocked out of the champions League next season. It's all about trying to win what you are in.And enjoying the moment. If Chelsea fail to win a final and finish 5th who's had the better season. The champions league is a money maker and I hope we can one day get back there. But don't let anyone take a final moment away from you mate. Saturdays a day to look forward too.Our seasons still alive mate.In past seasons it's over in January.

Jiminy Cricket

Got me day all planned out Jimmy, love cup finals and I for one, like you, am gonna make the most of it, although I didn't get a ticket. But Im gonna go into town instead and its still gonna be a huge day as it always is!

Over the last 6 months(maybe longer) I've grown increasingly saddened by Liverpool fans. I use to consider us the greatest fans in the world, we all had our different opinions in what would improve our team but at the end of the day we would stand behind our team through thick and thin but for some reason this has all changed.
Now every time I check this site all I see is constant bickering, name calling and general intolerance. We have started to turn on each other like rabid dogs and are doing more damage to Liverpool's fans reputation then anything the haters from others teams could possibly manage. I'm just as guilty as anyone in this regard, sometimes after reading certain posts I get angry and respond with venom but it's wrong, this is not how Liverpool fans behave. We (the fans that back Kenny, the fans that want Rafa back, the people with rose coloured glasses and the ones that cant see any positives in our present team) need to remember we all share one thing in common...we all love Liverpool Football Club.
I cant change how anybody else behaves but from now on I choose not to be like this, I choose to respect all Liverpool fans(team and management included) regardless of how wrong I think they are, my Dad use to have an expression, "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar" and I whole heartedly believe that "slagging off" a fellow fan or belittling there opinions will never win your argument.

Oh and on a final note, I know our league position is below par but we have a F.A. cup final to look forward to and a whole summer to get things right for next season so good luck to the team this weekend, I'm really looking forward to it.

Bazingaa

I think the beauty of this site is it's anonymity. Thus also there lie the problem...you quite simply don't know who your debating with. I'm sure many 'negative' posts are just frustrated 12 year olds who've lost face in the playground so vent their immature frustration on this site. Then there are some who just don't understand financial side of football whatsoever & of course rival fans (again many that are young) who are just on a wind up. It's much the same on the other sites. I do agree tho' it can get quite stressfull but I've learnt to chill out a bit given the wide range of ages & IQ's that frequent these pages.

I think this site should be transfer rumours ONLY. Not people constantly slating the team & manager. Is there anywhere on the internet I can go where people aren't constantly moaning?! Bloody hell you have RAWK for all that crap. I enjoy all the transfer talk and potential targets, but it's all spoiled by negative nancies. Please Eds, reconsider the "banter" page.

I know this is hypocritical as i'm moaning myself, but it's not about the team if anyone tries to be clever.

30 Apr 2012 13:41:32
Hi Eds
Iv got to say im appauled by the people saying Elm isnt good enough, look at lucas leiva, he came to the EPL and gave it everything and was getting booed and jeered off, 2 years later and look at him now. Hes a great defensive midfielder for our club and personally feel he should be one of the first names on the team sheet. I believe Elm will be a great squad player for us and adds to our depth now we have Europa league football again.

Great site

Chris {Ed002's Note - I agree Chris but it is the nature of many of the Liverpool fans nowadays. They will spew their hate at the players, the manager, the owners, the sponsors, other clubs, players coming in - pratically anything.}

It is sad. LFC used to have the best fans around, not these days. We come across as nothing more than bitter and jealous most of the time! And all these fickle fans then wonder why we can't attract top names, who would want to play for the "succeed now or leave after two games" club! It pains me to say it, but take Torres as an example. He's been terrible for the Chavs but their support for the guy has never been questioned! They chant his name when manages to control the ball never mind score! We do nothing but slag off our players and our manger when they give 100% even when form (and luck) is not with them! And after everything KK has given to this club (as a player, as a manager, Hillsborough, etc) you'd imagine he'd have earned more respect by now! There are clowns on these forums that do nothing but embarrass our great club!

LFC_SA

I personally don't think we should sign Elm to be a "squad player". I believe if we are going to sign players, they should be better than what we already have, and I don't think Elm is better. We have plenty of depth in central midfield, and I think resources would be better used to strengthen other areas.

RedSG

Personally I feel its a few Trolls who have found an active banter page to get their kicks from. Also quite a few people who either follow the herd (media) and leave free thinking behind or, younger fans who really need to let off their hormones outside.

Sadly many people choose to put down others to gain their own strength. Remember it is easier to destroy something than it is to create it!
K79

I think you can add other fans to the list of hate targets for a lot of the posters on here.
Much as I hate to say it, there is generally a much greater proportion of considered, football oriented conversations on the Man Utd site than there are on ours. Its disappointing.

I think the negativity is partly due to to more than 20 years of frustration - of never winning the EPL and watching United win it almost every season.

The club is partly to blame for this state of affairs. A club which has been mismanaged ever since Robinson left.

I guarantee you United fans would feel the same way if roles had been reversed.

Chelsea fans? I hope they are happy and supportive of their players. This is their golden age, after all.

Post above bang on.posts above that too harsh

Been a lot of support for the potential signing of Rasmus Elm, but IMO I don't think he is an improvement on the players we currently have in his position, hence why I don't think he should be signed.

Based on the little Eredivisie I watch, he is good at set piece, gets in the box and gets goals, however, we have Gerrard, Adam, and Shelvey who are capable of this and Hendo when played in the centre can do this also. Add Suso to the mix and we have an abundance of players for the role, unless players are being moved on, I don't see the need for Elm to be signed. If he was better than the players we have, I'd be supportive, but I really don't think he is. Also the story of Elm originated from the S*n....

I find it strange we're linked with and potential signing central midfielder, when its clear to see we need wingers and strikers.

RedSG

Couldn't agree more RedSG mate. Not slagging Elm off (havnt seen him play) but I just don't see the need for another CM.

Unless someone leaves.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Maybe he is a replacement for C. Adam?
Lpoolkris

He is better than Adam, Henderson and spearing put togther.
hope we get him

RedSG, because Gerrard, Adam and Shelvey have scored loads of goals this season?! Elm looks like a pretty good player to me who might offer us something different from that area of the pitch. He's not gonna be the only signing, there will be more. I also believe that Charlie Adam will leave.
TonyFarrino

I think Elm is a replacement for Charlie Adam. kenny finally seems to have realised adam is at best a midtable player.

What's with people already saying Elm isn't good enough?

Have you watched a few Youtube clips and formed an opinion?

He's a very good player, great long range shot, altough he does try it to much. Great passing ability, long or short. He's the type of player that can find that killer pass what others can't.

The least you can do is give the lad a chance.

KT!

He has not even sighned yet and fans are already slagging him of
did we not learn from how we treated Lucas"look at Lucas now"

L believe that we need a bigger squad next season with European football. So let's welcome all newcomers.
Mighty reds

Sorry KT! mate I haven't seen him play either but my point earlier is what on there you just named can't Shelvey do? I could understand bringing someone like Moussa Sissoko who could bring energy and pace or a defensive minded midfielder like M'Vila but another Technically gifted CM considering we already have Gerrard, Shelvey and Henderson, you can add Suso, Coady and Texieria(spelling?) to that I just don't see the need over a more pressing issue like a striker or winger.

Don't get me wrong if we do buy the lad I will back him like I back everyone of our current squad, just can't help feel this might have been a Commoli parting gift.

Jatt YNWA

Jatt, I'm not having a go at people who are saying we don't need another CM, i actually think we don't unless someone leaves.

The point i'm trying to make is people calling him average without knowledge of his game.

Moussa Sissoko would be my personal choice also (M'villa & Martinez dream)

KT!

M'Villa and Martinez in the same team would be too defensive.

Yes i agree with you matey but i dont hope we spend rediculous money on him if we sign xabi fantastic but think about this matey adam score 13 or 14 goals i. Meanwhile, Dalglish has paid tribute to the travelling supporters who made themselves heard in Norwich.

"I don't think you should ever underestimate how important they are to the players," he said. "For them to make the effort to turn up to support us I think is really appreciated by the players.

"As we said from the outset when we came in 18 months ago: if everybody sticks together, everybody plays their part and we all chip in together, then there's nobody any more important than the next person.

"Whatever role you play at the football club let's try and do it to the best of our abilities. If we do that then we've got a better chance of moving forward, but the supporters have always been an integral part of this football club, and when I'm here then they always will be in our eyes.

"I think they know that and they appreciate the effort that the boys have put in for them and I think maybe the adversity we had a few weeks ago maybe stands us in good stead because it brings everybody closer together."

After reading posts on here maybe it is time for Kenny to go then! he obviously doesnt understand the modern day fan. Disgrace.

A few months ago I asked fellow LFC fans to help me with the naming of my new Sports Bar & Diner on the Kenyan South Coast. I received loads of great and helpful suggestions from many regulars on this site. My thanks to them.
Despite the great suggestions my fellow Directors decided that we could not be too LFC orientated. We went with the name of the company which is Yibba Yabba. So the place is called Yibba Yabba Sports Bar & Diner.
I will however be having a large Liver Bird painted on the wall behind the bar and also framing my collection of Liverpool Echo's and Liverpool Daily Post's from around 1976 to 1982.
Thanks to all who tried to help. If you want to have a look at the place find us on Facebook under our full name. If you are coming to Kenya please look us up and mention this site to be sure of a few free beers and a warm welcome
Cheers

All you negative fans make me sick. Elm hasn't Evan signed and your slating him. What is players read sites like this to see what the support and general feeling of the transfer is like. 40-50 k a week I'd think they can probably afford a computer and know how to use the Internet. I for one would not play a club with muppets like you supporting them if you can call it support. Nobody is great untill somebody gives them a chance to be great. How great was ronaldo befor he went to the manks who have wasted more £ than us on flops IMO. Look at Torres he was lacking confidence but chelseas fans supported him all the way and now he's starting to look like a 50 mil player. Players going through the same thing a lfc get stick right from the off so players like downing hendo and ac have he'd stick all season. Just give them support take a leaf from everybody else's books and be greatful for whoever we get because at the end of the day there not getting big wages compared to other teams they just want to play for the mighty reds and I for one am greatful to any player that wants to help get us back to the top
Sorry for the rant but most of you make me jealous of other teams who know how to be optimistic

Eric the red

Feel free to moan back because that's all you fake can do you bunch of morons
Ps ed 002 you are hilarious and you other eds are ok too keep it up and thank you for taking the time to make this site

I agree with most of what you said, I think its very unfair to berate a young lad without seeing him play(to be honest most fans making comments have only seen a few Youtube videos and this is not a valid way to form an opinion) but Eric..calling people "fake" and "morons" will never aid your arguement..I mean that with all due respect.

Bazingaa

Thank you for you comments bazingaa I understand that some of the things I said may not have been appropriate and I apologise if I offended anyone some of the fans on here really grate my biscuit sometimes. Again I apologise if I offended anyone I was just venting my frustration

ed001, yesterday i asked a question which was answered by ed002, however his answer was ppicked up by chris in tamworth who felt like me that you hold a different view to ed002. i cannot find the question as i havent really figured out this site and how you use search, so the question was basically regarding the dof. macca had said in a previous post about transfer targets and you had mentioned about the dof and style of play. if commolli had a say in style of play the transfer targets would be to fit into that style of play, therefore if a new dof comes in and his style of play is different then the transfer targets macca was on about would change wouldnt they. hope this makes sense ed001.
billy {Ed001's Note - possibly they would, it depends though, I mean the new guy coming in might just rate those particular players highly too. Certainly I would expect that there would be different players put forward by any new DoF though.}

One thing that will be interesting if Roy Hodgson is appointed England manager will be the journalists reactions, particularly those who criticised Liverpool for sacking him after 6-months.

I hope all those reporters who criticised us will now give Roy their full backing and if/when we have a poor Euro 2012 they will be prepared accept his poor excuses and the teams limp performances and give him the time he deserves to get it right.

JRG

I'm sorry but England are welcome to Hodgson; it's difficult to see anything good, in terms if actual tournament performance coming of this appointment, if it happens. Hodgson is an expert at mediocrity and while England might get to tournaments, they won't need the trophy cabinet enlarging for the foreseeable future.
ND

Whilst i believe Hodgson is a decent upstanding person, I think those that criticise Liverpool FC and the supposed poor treatment of Hodgson should read Pepe Reina's book who said his coaching methods were old fashioned, boring and his coaching staff such as Mike Kelly were really poor working with world class stars. Also I am sure he and his wife are really enjoying his compensation after having his contract paid up i.e over £7m for 6 months work.

If Roy fails as England manager the media will spin it in a way that blames us for turning him into a bad manager...

30 Apr 2012 12:37:57
I think we should sign,

Elm
Gaston Ramirez
Luuk De Jong
Jackson Martinez
& perhaps Muinian (spelling)

how do you rate Gylfi Sigurdsson? i think he's a phenomenal player! i'd prefer sigurdsson over elm.

30 Apr 2012 12:11:02
It's extremely disappointing to see Rasmus Elm taking so much criticism on here before his signing is even complete let alone having played his first game. The worst part is that many are basing this on YouTube videos! Give the lad a chance and stop being so critical of everything our club does.

30 Apr 2012 11:43:07
just a question people on here ,saying this player or that player is or could be the next,or replacment for gerrard,i thought jonjo shelvey was said to be when he came, what do you guys think will he or not?

Gerrard is a once in a generation player, we will not find a player that plays the same that is as good, the style of the team will have to change to compensate.

He could if he progresses as he can.

Iggypop

He is the closest to a Gerrard type player there is. he has the leadership qualities confidence and takes charge. Is decent at set plays and general shooting, passing.

On the FA's decision to speak to Roy Hodgson:
Does anyone think they were rebuffed by Harry Redknapp, or was Hodgson always first choice?
Will he command the respect of the dressing room?
Will he make the decisions needed to be ruthless with underperforming stars?
I cant see him doing any of the above, he doesnt seem to have that mentality.

Anfield Andy

He's a proven international manager. Best of luck to him (but thank god he left Anfield)

cozinoz

Will he call up Paul Konchesky?

Will he give the 'its not my fault the team isn't good enough to win anything' press conference.

What is the FA thinking!

Hodgson is a 'yes' man mate, that's why the FA appointed him. We had a discussion on here a few days ago on how useless the FA are. They appoint Hodgson and prove our point, yet again.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I believe spurs out priced harry

I agree, Spurs played hard-ball - Levy wanted too much compensation plus other perks from the FA and Redknapp's wasnt totally sure... They knew Hodgson would say yes and keep saying yes...

Personally think he will struggle with the media, he will have never experienced anything like it..im expecting some really clangers...

One thing you can say for Redknapp he can handle the media very well.. Hodgson doesn't!

YNWA jns

Of course 'Arry handles the media well - hes lairy aint he?

FA strategy...Roy for Euros...'Arry for WC Brazil...

Glen can say bye-bye to his England career with Roy in charge. Hopefully Stevie will follow. I think it would be good for Andy though so I'll back-track a little. I think there will be more twists 'n' turns to this story.

DaveyBootle

If none of our english players don't go to the euros or aren't in future england squads, I won't be too bothered. They'll be fresh for next season, and, in the future, have a nice week off every couple of months!

Rafa's Purple Goatie

I just wonder if Roy Hodgson is a public stalking horse on the England job. One of the Spurs fans posted on here last week that Harry has serious problems with some of his players and the supporters at the club. Which may suggest he could be moving on ?
Either way, it's not of great concern to us.
By the way eds, do you think Suarez will be playing in the Uruguay team at the Olympics ?

I wouldn't be surprised to see some sudden retirements from international football in the coming weeks citing injury problems i.e Gerrard, Ferdinand.

Hi Eds & Reds,

As an Irish Red, I am pretty pi$$ed at the English FA, if they appoint Roy Hodgson, all we are gonna to hear when England fall apart yet again in another tournament, is gonna be Redknapp should have been appointed, they took too long to appoint Hodgson, yada, yada yada....

C'mon on you boyss in green !!!

There's nothing more annoying than the arrogant English press who think they have a god-given right to win EVERYTHING.

30 Apr 2012 11:05:26
With question marks over the manager and DOF I cant help thinking that this transfer window is going to be full of what if's. We all still talk about the players that got away because we dragged our feet and someone else stole in and turned their head or we argued about the price only to buy lesser players for more money. Ronaldo, Alves, Villa, silva etc Lets take a leaf out of Arsenals book and try and secure 1st choice targets early because if some of these players shine in the euros then we will no doubt lose out, again.

Lets hope we can get our house in order soon and improve on last seasons buys. Who im sure were not 1st choice.

30 Apr 2012 11:02:32
Wow Rasmus Elm hasn't even signed for us yet and he's getting slated good support guys, best in the world that !!

I'll be the first to admit I know absolutely nothing about this player, the problem is there are muppets out there who have quickly gone onto youtube, downloaded a 3 min clip and based there judgement of the lad on that. It would be great to get some accurate info from a reds fan who actually knows a bit about the player. YNWA Cape Town

I watch a lot of Dutch football, and I have seen a lot of Rasmus Elm.In my opinion he will be a great addition to the team. The way kenny likes to set up, (high up the pitch) will suit this player. In the Case, Souness, Molby, Whelan, days, they sat outside the opponents area, when we attacked and if the ball came to them they would have a strike. I think Kenny bought Adam hoping he would do a similar job.Elm is a dead ball specialist like Adam was meant to be.He his a strong player,I wouldn't say he's a quick player but he covers the ground faster than Adam Alonzo Hamman and not forgetting little Jay.I think he's a good player and 8 million is a good price.I have said since the Lucas injury that we need another Central Midfielder.I think he would be a good signing, if he were to join us.

Jiminy Cricket

Hopefully he won't sign for us as he is not an improvement on what we currently have.

RedSG

I would respectfully disagree with the nay-sayer. His technique in striking a ball is superb. My only concern would be his ability to adapt to the prem. At the prices quoted though, well worth a shot in my opinion.

WHAT? Roy Hodgson as England manager?? :S
I really don't know how to react! The man who just last season, had to be fired just 6 months into his managerial post at Liverpool!
The person that brought the likes of Poulsen, Konchesky and Fabio Aurelio and annihalated any chances of a good campaign? Leaving Kenny to clear out his dross resulting in an overhaul of the team which puts us in the position we are now??
BLOODY HELL
RedSox69

Aurelio was brought back as short term cover, and whilst he has a shocking injury record his quality as a player has never really been questioned. If he wasn't made of glass Enrique wouldnt get a look in.

Totally agree, Aurelio is an excellent player and has been an unquestioning and faithful servant of the club. He's scored some vital goals and never let us down. He's just been terribly unlucky with injuries and is absolutely gutted that he'll be leaving in the summer.

After Saturdays game ( Carra playing) I think Kenny is edging towards playing 3 at the back in the final. Similar to what he's done before and what Wigan are getting a tremendous amount of success with. We don't have Lucas so instead of a defensive mid it could be the way to go. As Chelsea mainly attack through the centre. What do you think?

We've played 3 at the back against them before, so I wouldn't rule it out.

Of what i have seen the boy is excellent with airial pases....AC and Suarez also De Jong our main target for striker.....he would compliment them excellently in my view...
AP {Ed001's Note - sorry, haven't seen much of him since he was an overrated kid, he didn't look like much back then, but that was a good 3 or 4 years ago, at least, probably longer. A lot can change in that amount of time.}

30 Apr 2012 09:59:26
Rasmus elm - going to propel us into champions league or challenginf for league come on? This summer is supposed to be about players for first team and inproving us like 2/3 players to go straight into first team i dont think he is wuite as good as first team quality ok squad players. But if its true about £20 million then u can realise that but surely nt £20 million we want champs league! These are risk signings buy players all beit big transfer fees that gave a better chance of succeding.

At least he will give you someone else to whinge about. You must be looking forward to that.

Yer your absolutely right looks like £10m more wasted........ FFS! can we not just welcome any player that's lucky enough to sign for us and support them. He hasn't even kicked a ball at Anfield yet and he's already 'average'. Howay lad give it a break.

always a red

Bit early to tell, I'd rather wait to see if he signs first and maybe play a few games before I start forming an opinion. Knee jerk reactions about players we know very little about wont help anybody but if he does join us I hope people show some patience before trying to drag him down.

Bazingaa

Haha ofcourse you think he's average redturk! But if United had signed him you would of been up in arms that Liverpool didnt sign an up and coming talent like him. Please just give it a rest will you?

Anyone that can score from a corner is worth a punt in my eyes.

RedTurk you are so negative it's actually become quite boring. From what I've seen of Elm he's got good qualities, plays with confidence and I think will certainly add something to the mix. You've actually resorted now to slating players even before they've put a shirt on! You also seem to be on a one man mission to get Dalglish out, it's becoming all too predictable from you to be honest. I think Rasmus Elm for £8 million would be a good deal for what he can offer and he's also internationally experienced. GIVE THE LAD A CHANCE!
Unbelievable!!

Jeez redturk your already slating people that may or may not sign for us, thank god your not negotiating or scouting for us. lol

Kenny is going nowhere. He will at liverpool next season.Owners will not give him money again if they have to sack him. Moreover after this signing next additions maybe gaston ramirez and luk de jong. Adam may be sold as ELM is also good on set pieces+ more athletic and good shooter than him.
INDIAN LIVERPOOL BOY.
REPLY FELLOW REDS.

The owners won't give him money again? Correct me if I'm wrong but the owners appointed Cammoli to oversee transfers.

Admittedly in 18 months of Kenny's rein the owners have invested a net spend of £40m with the aim of reducing the wage bill by £30m. I'm sure it's safe to assume they'll invest another £10m over the next 18 months and continue to increase revenues whilst delivering nothing. The fans will continue to be happy on the basis the owners are not as bad as gillet and hicks. {Ed002's Note - You should share the link to you Facebook page to force the owners out. Who would you like instead?}

Let's save the eds some time. There are exciting youngsters out there but not the household names some seem to expect. Players that have their choice of clubs will pick a champions league club.

So before asking eds "any chance of us signing......"

Ask yourself, will that player want chapions league? Will that player want over £100k? If the answer to either is yet, he won't be coming.

There are gems out there like hernadez, cisse, cabye. The question is can Liverpool find them?

On past history the answer would be a resounding NO

They might just of in the form of Elm...

I dont think it is that hard to find hernandez, cisse and cabaye....theyre on MOTD most weeks

so yet another central midfielder added to our squad..does that mean we are letting go of someone in that area? as it stands we have gerard, adam, spearing, henderson and shelvey...so it will be 6 central midelfiilder if we leave out lucas who i would say is our only true defensive midfielder...i dont see us letting go of any of the above mentioned players...so how all these names going to fit in our squad...and what system are we going to play to have that many cm's?
i have to wonder...anyone else wondering with me!
i thought our priority is wingers and strikers..yet..the first player we sign...is a cm?

What type of player is Rasmus Elm, I can't find many descriptions online?

6ft, 24yr old attacking midfielder. Similar to Alonso/Adam - great passing and free kicks plus he chips in with a few goals too. Lars Lagerbäck said that Elm is the biggest talent Sweden has produced since Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Looks like he is what we hoped Charlie Adam would be.

Hello Eds,

I've been a good boy and used the search function before asking the following questions. Firstly, are the rumours accurate that Kenny has personally watched Giroud on Friday and Elm on Saturday (I know LFC played on Saturday as well, but maybe he took a quick plane). I know Macca has talked about the Bilbao game being attended by scouts as well. Also, is it safe to assume that since no DOF has been appointed yet, we are either in the final stages of the process (annoucement all that's left) or perhaps the man is already at the club and waiting for the season to end *wink wink*? That's all for now. Thanks in advance.

Luuk De Jong and Olivier Giroud the latest players linked via the endless propagation of gossip columns of the mass media, to Liverpool.

De Jong's price was quoted at a lowly £12.5 million (which would be a steal, 'IF' true.)

A personal opinion:

I think Giroud would find it harder to settle at Liverpool, but i think De Jong would take to Kop-life like a duck on a rainy day, especially if he were to partner Suarez as there would be no language barrier.

The silly season is closing in on us and i do not envy the Ed's job in having to explain time and time again that ''No we are not going for *Insert very expensive player here*.

Only to get bashed for calling a spade a shovel, and a rake a large gardening fork.

I think if we miss out on Giroud then Newcastle will get him and we would all complain why didn't we go for him. he is really good.

Cool Breeze

Where are people getting that De Jong is a good player from? From what i've seen (admittedly not much but still) he is terrible!

Can i just say that in the gossip column they quoted the price at 12.5 million for de Jong. Ed002 when asked what price he might be, BEFORE january said about 12.65 million pounds. Ed002, take a bow.

A list of genuin realistic transfer targets, a couple of which I've heard are close to being done (when transfer window opens):
1) Rasmus Elm
2) Ibrahim Afellay
3) Jackson Martinez
4) Gaston Ramirez
5) Luuk De Jong

Players that could end up leaving:
1) Maxi Rodriguez
2) Dirk Kuyt
3) Joe Cole
4) Alberto Aquillani
5) Charlie Adam?
6) Fabio Aurelio

Squad:
Goalkeepers - P.Reina, A.Doni, B.Jones
Defenders - G.Johnson, M.Skrtel, D.Agger, J.Enrique, M.Kelly, S.Coates, J.Carragher, J.Robinson, J.Flannagan, A.Wisdom, D.Wilson
Midfielders - I.Afellay, L.Leiva, S.Gerrard, R.Elm, G.Ramirez, J.Henderson, J.Spearing, J.Shelvey, S.Downing, R.Sterling, C.Coady, J.Suso.F, J.Teixeira, T.Silva
Forwards - L.Suarez, J.Martinez, A.Carroll, L. De Jong, C.Bellamy, A.Morgan

Maybe a couple of the younger players might be loaned out again such as D.Wilson and T.Silva, possibly Adam Morgan aswell. Bigger squad needed next season anyway with League, Europa League, F.A. Cup and Carling Cup all to play in.

If all this bs about Pepe leaving is true there's only one valid replacement. Hugo Lloris.

Lloris is heavily tipped to join spurs

Not being funny but he could look at himself at some of the goals we conceded
