I have to say, at the beginning of the transfer window I thought to myself, "who the hell is going to want to buy our deadwood off of us?", I sincerely thought we would not have gotten rid of a single one of them, with the possible exception of Joe Cole.

Every day, I came on here reading the same posts, all along the lines of - "Degen, El Zhar, Cole, Poulsen, Aquilani, Konchesky, Jovanovic, etc to leave", and not once did I believe we'd shift any of them; and here we are, August 31st, and they've all been moved on, or had deals agreed. I think the management and the owners deserve a huge pat on the back for that. I bet even with these new signings that we'll probably be paying less on wages than this point last year (if not, then we won't be paying too much more).

I really thought it would have taken much longer to deflate the wage bill. Anyone else amazed at how we've achieved this so quickly? Might also pave the way for these "marquee signings" that everyone keeps suggesting once we can offer CL football.

A.C.

Perhaps, that's because our "deadwoods" aren't as "dead" to other clubs as we originally thought. Definitely not as dead to them, as they were to us.

BooDaBooze {Ed001's Note - I think it is more that we were willing to pay them all off to get rid.}

I agree mate - hats off to DC who came in for some stick earlier this summer.

We're in much better shape both on and off the pitch and this squad gives us a great chance of making top 4 which should help next summer when we'll probably only need 3/4 signings.

My long range forecast would be Cahill (if he doesn't move tomorrow), McCarthy of Wigan and Muniain of Bilbao.

The begining of the transfer window was used to try and getg some transfer fees for the deadwood. The fall back position being that if there was little interest we would then pay the deadwood off an let them go on free transfers. There has been little interest and we have therefore now seen in the last 10 days many of teh deadwod being paid off and given free transfer window. The calibre of the clubs taking on these free transfers shows you how unsuitable these players were for our club. Reality Red

Hey guys

Great day for liverpool, poulsen leaves (not good enough, but credit to him he never slagged us off, just kept his head down, so good luck Christain) and we sign Coates (get ready for the get your coates headlines).

One thing that has struck me is that in every 'signing' interview the player always seems to thank his previous club with no malice, there's been no back bitting at all. Coates said something like its great to be joining another big cub - leaving his Nacional fans in no doubt he enjoyed his time there and this is the next step. I'm pretty sure Downing said something similar at his conference and Adam said something like he'd always follow Blackpool and hoped they'd be up at Anfield next year playing in the prem.

I know they're coached and all that but it's sooo good to be getting players in with a bit of class, they seem to know how to thank their previous club and the fans who made them who they are. Lets be honest, more so than some of the transfers thats happened recently (i'm thinking of you Nasri, and you FT).

Also, loving the team ethic thats coming out of Anfield right now. Luis and Lucas welcoming Coates, indeed, Charlie Adam, who probably has never met the guy before last saturday welcoming him on twitter, it all adds up to a happy, balanced dressing room.

Just think were we where this time last year, I didn't think I could dispair any more (of course though I hadn't been through last christmas and those results) but now, I'm actually over the moon. A team which seems to want to play together and for the fans, owners who seem to be in it for the long haul and not only backing the manager but who generally seem interested in how we do on the field, not solely on the balance sheet, the people in charge of the goverance of the club being not only passionate but good at their jobs, a youth team briming with potentail and learning the way the first team plays (so transtition can be easier), and last but not least, the king, on his throne.

I was hoping for about 4/5 signing, we've made 6 so far, all strenghtening us. I'm not gonna say we're gonna win the league, but I do believe we'll put up some heavy ressistance to those that do and I'm pretty sure 4th (if not 3rd) is definately in our own hands.

Last year I despaired, This year... delighted doesn't quite cover it.

Cheers
JJ

Great post JJ, you've summed it up very well fella.

The Booter

Great post! Feel exactly the same apart from one thing, I think we'll win the premier. I have to say that because as a Gambler I have to put my money down and 16-1 Lfc with a 3rd of odds if we just miss out and finish 2nd; in my opinion is too good to miss.

As part of Coates deal there are two friendlies arranged between two clubs Nacional and Liverpool no details on when they'll be played yet

30 Aug 2011 23:44:29
its on lfc website...liverpool have agreed a fee for poulson.

Also, finally can we officailly welcome coates to the club.

This has been the best transfer window in living memory. Well done King Kenny and the team. Thank you to the oweners...what a difference a year makes.

Paul Mc

30 Aug 2011 23:43:12
The ever reliable El pais - Ovacion connected to Nacional representatives (Vice president) Hector Olmos says fee for Seba is $8m = £5m | When will press and people start praising #LFC for getting Bargains like Coates-Enrique-Adam-Suarez - Well done to Comolli.

The Coates buy won't be seen by the press as a bargain yet, till they see his performances on the pitch. Only then will they judge the deal to be either a bargain or a flop.

still no news on bbc or sky about coates. just shows how slow and out of touch they can be, especially sky, cosying up and get all excited about dodgy 'arry. pathetic really, but thats bias for you, im just glas he's signed, another quality addition

Sky had the coates deal running across the bottom of the screen at the same time it broke on the liverpool website, catch up a bit mate,

30 Aug 2011 23:39:03
If liverpool are gonna sell meireless to chelsea they should demand 9million plus daniel sturridge but I doubt he's going anywhere :D

30 Aug 2011 23:19:56
Hi eds,

Swanson has been on sky sports news saying chelsea are going to go back in for merieles any truth.

Raj

Lets get 15m for him and buy adam johnston from city, bellamy on a free and were done.........lfc

7 pts in 3 games

while both our major rivals r at arsenal=1pt , spurs=0pts

one may say that spurs played two manchester clubs n we r still to play but still

though its tooooo early

with both gooners n spuds may take few more matches to get their campaign on the track....we can easily built n 10-12 pts advantage on both ....by that ....n hardwork of few more months ..we r surely in champions league next year (now my assumptions r based on the fact that both spusds n gooners ...dont have squad good enough ...with tooo many weakened possitions to fill ...+ they will play in europe also )

, n by the way i have feeling we w'l be higher than 4th)

I honestly think we are stronger than Utd, but if City continue to gel, they will take some stopping! 2nd or 3rd for us this season i think... but even 4th is massive progress and i would not complain

30 Aug 2011 23:12:53
good day. poulsen leaves, one of the last pices od deadwood from last season gone, and coates signs, which looks like a very good move for liverpool

30 Aug 2011 23:06:11
I am sure i speak for every single liverpool fan out there when i say the effect king kenny has had on our great club not only on his return but since day 1 is nothing short of god like stature, He is and always will be without doubt a true hero who has brought back all and every passion and excitment from within us all. For me i can never see anyone equalling this great man but i would love to think we have 2 men whose names we all know able to do just that cause that would give us unrivalled challenges foe many many years to come.
The king has come back and within no time at all put our club right back up there and signed very good players able and willing to work for our club and work hard.
I can honestly say for a long time i have not enjoyed the football as much as we are playing and our unique family of liverpool fans are very confident of now once again winning the big prizes year in year out.

REDGAZ ( very very proud liverpool fan ) YNWA

I could not agree with you more, everything you say is absolutly spot on mate love this post, makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
Some one clicked disagree, if this is not a united fan im very dissapointed.

kenny you truly are the KING

billynwa

Agree whole-heartedly but don't ignore the likes of Clarkie, Comolli, Ayres, Tom Werner and John Henry in praise for the rennaissance which will see us re-claim our rightful position in Europe.
This has been the most positively active period in my memory. Every wish is being actively addressed......From our need to be more commercially aware to our need to listen to the fans more. From getting rid of the "deadwood" (in order to achieve quality not quantity) to recruiting some of the most sought-after players (Suarez, Carroll, Coates, Downing, Enrique, Henderson, Adam.....not to mention the youngsters we've brought in). And we've still got time to buy more..........Bellamy, Zarate (maybe), A.Johnson, or another.
Whatever happens over the next 24 hours we'll be well-equipped to mount a challenge. I've said for over a year that we need a Mascherano/Hamman/Alonso type holding-mid but Lucas is becoming that player and Connor Coady could be an able understudy. Henderson isn't really a Def.Mid and wasn't bought as one but either he or Adam might be asked to perform the duties at a push and this is where I worry. Spearing is enthusiastic but lacks class. A year or two ago I called him "Murphy-Lite" and I have'nt seen anything since to change my opinion. Personally, I'd use Agger as Defensive Midfielder......but he'd need to stay fit! I'd use Lucas as a CM to replace Gerrard who, like it or not, has passed his brilliant-best!
Kuuyt and Suarez up front with Carroll on the bench and we've got a brilliant starting eleven......................
......................REINA..........................
KELLY....CARRAGHER..COATES.....ENRIQUE

A.JOHNSON...D.AGGER..LUCAS...DOWNING
(V.CAP)
................SUAREZ....KUUYT.................

SUBS; DONI, ROBINSON,SKIRTEL,ADAM,G.JOHNSON, MAXI,CARROLL

ANFIELDPETE

GERRARD----Noone can replace Gerrard! Just wait till he gets back!

No ANFIELDPETE keep Lucas as DM put Agger back to left CB move Coates to right CB we hav'nt got A.Johnson so when fit Stevie as RW Adam back in the middle job's a goodun!or G.Johnson as RW and Stevie in the middle just behind Luis and Dirk! We have got some team though! Alphared

Coates number 12, following in the footsteps of Sammi

Coates Number 16

30 Aug 2011 22:51:12
HI eds getting closer,I think the vast majority of fans would like us to sign a forward /striker,chu young park seemed like a good punt for 3mill but wenger probably being their ex/manager had the inside track on that one.as much as i would love to sign another player I just hope we sign the right one and not be rushed into signing anymore (deadwood)hope we all wake up this morning and have news which will make us all smile for the whole season.

30 Aug 2011 22:48:55
Seb Coates deal on the official website. Welcome Seb YNWA.

30 Aug 2011 22:48:35
Got a funny feeling adam johnson will sign tomorrow...this has come from a very reliable source on twitter. As reluable as macca on here...

30 Aug 2011 22:40:41
Absolutely delighted with the business done this summer and to see the new lads settling in so well. Would love a bid to go in for Adam Johnson tomorrow and test City's resolve. Would also like a move for Sturridge but these both may be held off till Jan. In KK we trust !

Hopefully the likes of Pouslen, Ngog and Degen get moves tomorrow as well, still got a soft spot for Cole but dont think its been the move he or we envisaged ! Really hope Raul stays as he is a quality squad member and we need competition to stop complacency, think this is what we have lacked over the last few years !

30 Aug 2011 22:47:23
Just to let Macca know there are Twitterers that are quoting you as a source...

30 Aug 2011 22:33:37
So now when Poulsen is gone I hope we can have the time to offload Ngog, Degen and perhaps J.Cole and Jones too.

If the Ngog-deal goes through I hope we can land a new striker or an attacking player. I would love to see Afellay, but I much doubt that, hope I'm wrong though.

Hi ED any news on higuian coming or not. {Ed028's Note - No truth whatsoever}

30 Aug 2011 22:28:50
Ed is the Jesus Navas signing tomorrow true or not {Ed028's Note - I've heard nothing other than Twitter gossip, I doubt it}

30 Aug 2011 22:22:46
Macca you are a legend please keep us updated throughout tomorrow

30 Aug 2011 22:03:09
Ed can you please answer this question for me?
"If Poulson goes to Evian and plays in Lique 1, does this make him the second player to play in the 5 main European leagues. Or is their more?"
Scouse Pride {Ed002's Note - I really don;t know, sorry. You need a football stats nerd to help you out.}

So you're classing his stay at liverpool as actually "playing" mate ?
That's open to interpretation I reckon.
The Real KB

Last year he did get a top five place on one of the players of the month on LFCTV. He wasn't brilliant but better than som of the other flops.

As far as I remember he played for Schalke 04, Sevilla, Juventus and us.
Marc

30 Aug 2011 22:12:27
Any chance you could answer a couple of questions about Yossi ed?

His twitter post today said he's flying to London tomorrow to speak with Chelsea and sign for his new club. Does this mean the club he's joining is a London club? And if he needs to fly to London where's he been today? Any chance you think we could still sign him?

Cheers ed

Red Ollie

30 Aug 2011 22:10:07
Do people still doubt Macca? Can people please pass on there thoughts please.. I am new to the site so not sure what to believe..Thanks Conner

{Ed009's Note - He is the most reliable rumour spreader here.}

30 Aug 2011 22:08:22
mr yellow any info could you share fellow thanks

We are still trying to thrash out a deal for Sturridge, I am led to believe he is now our priority target. I would expect a deal to be tied up tomorrow.

Meireles may well go the other way, but not in exchange. It will seperate deals. I would not expect Benayoun to make a return either.

Mr Yellow

30 Aug 2011 21:59:08
Lots of people concerned with the though of losing Meireles, personally I cant see why. He isn't getting in the starting 11 now so what chance does he have once Gerrard returns? I dont see that he has a future with us and will be better for all concerned if he leaves now while we can still get a decent price for him. Good player but we have better! {Ed009's Note - My sentiments exactly.}

Try squad strength? It's only what Kenny has been preaching...

30 Aug 2011 22:16:20

30 Aug 2011 21:53:25
i understand getting all of the deadwood of the wage bill b4 the window shuts, but with 3 competitions n the lge still being very tough even to get top 4(i think we will be top 2) it still smells of freeing up more funds for deals to happen , it just makes sense , unless suso n sterling be given a go,
5 gold stars

30 Aug 2011 21:53:22
Know that we have virtually signed coates i would love to put all the horrid rumours to bed and just put all our energy into signing adam johnson from city for 20 million if we can get bellamy on a plus for free would be brilliant but i think adam johnson should be the focus
who agrees

LTP

Final piece in the jigsaw I reckon, would like Sturridge as well to be honest but cant see it coming off.

30 Aug 2011 21:51:14
Liverpool FC have tonight confirmed that they have reached agreement with Evian Thonon Gaillard for the transfer of Christian Poulsen.

The French side have now been given permission to talk to the Denmark international.

At Last, off the wage bill. Just a few more to get rid of and we will have trimmed our squad down as much as we could of done

30 Aug 2011 21:48:47
i totaly agree about old man woy.
iam really starting to think that fergie sent him lfc to help get the 19th title .....................................
him and that manc supporting ref ??its a conspricy

30 Aug 2011 21:47:11
Any news on the following
Ngog
Meireles
Cole
Shelvey
Degen
All these have been linked with moves away this window. Cant see any of the above playing for kk this season.

You can't see Meireles and Shelvey playing? I haven't heard anything about Shelvey being loaned out and the only situation with Meireles is we've rejected an offer for him :/

Red Ollie

Shelvey will definitely play this season. He ain't going nowhere.

30 Aug 2011 21:39:59
Re Coates, Luis seems to think the deal is done and dusted by what i've read that he's tweeted welcome to Liverpool or something like that. I'm sure they've kept him updated on the situation. To me its just what number he gets now. Got a horrible feeling he end could be Raul's number 4 though. This isn't a slight on Coates at all whom i'm so excited by but more me being gutted by the thought of Raul M doing one. You never know Raul might fancy the number 10 shirt himself. Still number 17 out their waiting to be had i think. Thats the number that our mysterious pacey attacking player can have when he joins tomorrow whomever it maybe. Oh and Milamber, your posts have me in stitches mate. To talk sense and be funny at the same time is a hard thing to do, i've tried many a time but fall flat on my face. Top man mate. Jonson6

Coates won't be a regular starter this season without injuries; I reckon Skrtel will be above him in the pecking order for the time being, let alone Carra and Agger. I think he'll get a higher number than 4 certainly

Red Ollie

I think coats will be first choice along side agger after jan definitely,if agger injured then skirtel in the middle with him, carra is or should be a squad player soon,club is first sorry old pal.

30 Aug 2011 21:34:54
luis suarez has clearly been told to remove that post off facebook and twitter all but confirming coates to the club, which is right to be fair, he should not be announcing a major transfer deal like that on twitter or facebook
kenny refuses for weeks to name names or talk about any transfer deals until they have something to tell us so he certainly doesn't want a player doing his job for him on social networking sites, silly boy luis, he shall get his bottom smacked for that ! and hat trick in his next game will be demanded, lol

30 Aug 2011 21:34:40
Poulsens new club have paid us 500,000litres

I love Spurs when it's leading up to transfer deadline day. They are mentioned in every other bid (on sky due to Arrys love affair with sky).

With poulsen, n'gog and cole set to leave that only leaves degen. What's the latest with him ed's. Please answer. {Ed009's Note - He is quite likely to move to QPR.}

Personally don't see Degen moving to QPR now they've got Young. I imagine we'll keep him, his wages aren't nearly as high as Cole's for example

30 Aug 2011 21:07:10
all's i will say is anybody that was worried about damien commoli being in charge of transfer and such activity you people need to admit the man needs a bloody medal,

just on the basis he has somehow managed to find new clubs for some truly awful, REALLY awful footballers, Jovanavic, konchesky, el zhar, POULSEN, hopefully and looking likely, joe cole(he's passed it beyond belief as to how good he once was), and it seems were finally shot of alberto i never want to play for lfc ever again aquilani !!

those player sales, loans, or whatever have gotten so much rubbish off of our books and wage bill, and for that alone he need's commending for, bringing in such quality downing, adam, henderson, coate, and hopefully more tommorow is great work, really great work, so lets not dispute over DC anymore, imagine the type of players he might bring in if we get back in that top 4,

you may say i'm a dreamer, but i'm not the only one !!!!

30 Aug 2011 21:02:56
Im in the know and do you know what i know? I know you think you know what is going to happen eds but the fact is your guess merchants and if you really had inside info you would know that igor biscan is to make a sensational return for 40 million,well now you are in the know

If we don't get a last minute signing I for one won't be disappointed. KK and DC have reconstructed a squad in a transfer window. By any measure that is an impressive achievement and provides a real platform for growth. Well done to everyone at the club.

30 Aug 2011 20:37:32
Ed's Macca anyone!!
What's happening with Scott Dann??????

Any ideas where the England squad are training ed's? Just wondering in case the likes of Cahill/A Johnson become a reality rather than a rumour & have to dash to Merseyside.

Here's hoping tmo is not a day of anti-climax, a couple more quality players in, would really be the icing on the cake. Well done KK & extremely well done to all ed's for last few months.

Preston Wool {Ed009's Note - I am afraid I don't know and am a little too snowed under to find out right now. I am sure someone else will be very happy to help though.}

Just caught a quick glimpse on LFC tv. In the same sentence it said LFC agreed fee with french club for Denmark international, I thought FOOKING hell we are in for Eden Hazard, but then just at the end I seen Poulsen's name and thought FOOKING hell again. Good luck to the lad, I hope he gets regular football, just wasn't a LFC player.
Baz Mac

Erm, Hazard is from Belgium.

Just to say, Eden Hazard is Belgium.

Hazard is belgian. i wish fans would get rheir facts in order before they post.El P

Isn't Eden Hazard Romanian?

Its quite apt that Poulsen is signing for Evian. To quote a french 'actor', he certainly is the definition of a 'water carrier' player.

Is anyone else annoyed like me that this time last year, Uncle Woy rated Christian Poulsen highly enough to pay 5m of Liverpools money for him, but now (just a year later) he could buy him for almost nothing for West Brom but hasnt even sniffed?

In fact, he hasnt been back to us for any of his flop signings! Says a lot I think.

Thank God that guy wasnt around to spend FSG's dollars this summer!

Hi eds,
Is the a problem with the Coates deal?
Looks like Suarez has been told to delete his facebook post earlier about Coates signing.
Why would he be told to do that?

Yes there is a problem there, it's not luis' place to announce such things

Lets all hope deals for Poulsen, Cole and Ngog all go through tomorrow day and then come 5pm we can all have one eye on Liverpool-Rumours.co.uk and the other on SSN in anticipation of breaking news regarding a GBP15m+ stiker/winger with pace, technique and vision on way to Liverpool for medical. Ca-ba!!

30 Aug 2011 20:48:41
why not kalou and benayoun for meireles, i like meireles but if chelsea are going to offer big for him why not add to the depth.

Are we not trying to get rid of average players, such as poulsen, not bring them in!?!

30 Aug 2011 20:45:59
It seems from reports that Joe Cole deal is being done with a eye towards future Eden Hazard deal, I remember either eds or macca saying there are red flags when it came to him, can you fill us on what red flags we looking at? We don't need or want Adebayor like presence at lfc. Thanks.

30 Aug 2011 20:45:58
Ding dong poulsen has gone. this is the best transfer news of the window. Ed im normally supportive of players and i do also want to wish poulsen well, but i cant contain my excitement at him leaving. possibly one of the worst playes evee to put on our famous shirt. great job dc and kd at clearing the decks. Hello one and all!
As the transfer deadline gets ever closer, I'd like to use this time to say a MASSIVE thank you to every single Ed, and Macca. I haven't been on this site for an extremely long time, though I have been on here long enough to feel like all you fans, and the Eds, are a massive part of my life, as every day whilst I'm supposed to be at work, I'm actually pretending to have intestinal issue's (having a massive crap) so I can check this wonderful site, so yeah, thanks! xD

Anyway,
I've personally loved Mereiles for a few years and I'd always hoped he'd play for Liverpool, and when he signed, I was rather...happy! But, due to our previous owners (tweedle dumb and tweedle moron), we made a promise which currently, cannot be kept: i.e. raising Raul's salary. Although I'm a tad annoyed with the fact he could be going to a Premier League rival, who can blame him? At the end of the day, if my employer told me next year i'd get a substantial pay rise and I didn't receive it as promised, I'd be pretty p.o'd!
So if Raul does leave I wish him luck, as long as he doesn't score any important goals for them, get any assists for them and do well in any way, shape or form that could damage Liverpool's champions league pursuit, or title challenge.

In other news, I personally hope we do make a surprise signing, but although I have no 'inside knowledge' (apart from this website, tehe!) I'd like Liverpool to make a bid for Affelay from Barcelona. He's a bloody good prospect, and would supply more than enough back-up power. However, would he really move from one bench to another? I doubt it. Another player which could be a great little buy would be Pedro Leon, although I think he'd like to stay at Real Madrid to 'fight for his place' as it were! (correct me if I'm wrong Ed's)

Being realistic, I'd be more than happy with just the 2 expected acquisitions on deadline day of Coates, and Bellamy.

In my opinion, if we sign these 2 players, we have done some absolutely, phenomenal business, especially with Coates. The fact he's so young, yet so established is truly brilliant, and I'm extremely excited to see him this season!

Unfortunately I'm unable to get on this site tomorrow for deadline day, as I'm moving house and now have, no internet after this post, fantastic eh!? So I was wondering if the Eds could answer me 2 very important questions:

1) How did Coates' work permit hearing go today? I've heard nothing of its conclusion at all I'm afraid!

2) How the hell do you pronounce coates' name? Seriously, it's been bugging me all week, and it hasn't helped the fact different people have been pronouncing it very differently! UBER RAGE! XD

Thanks again, and I do apologise for my very long post! I hope after the windows over most fans are loyal to this page! And I hope you all enjoy the Transfer deadline day as much as I will!
YNWA fellow reds!

Hooch.

I think he got permit through the extraordinary talent rule,and his name is pronounced co argh tez,hope this helps jimmybosun,

Hello one and all...???

you've been listening to ray wilkins to much, lol, so have i probably, but he says that at the start of every game he commentates on, lol,

30 Aug 2011 20:44:19
looks as though poulsen will be gone by tomorrow, another off the wage bill hopefully freeing up space for some others

30 Aug 2011 20:43:41
Poulsen has gone to an equally low class team, who make water for a living.
Bon Voyage.
Thanks for the memories....the what?.....exactly.
The Insane

30 Aug 2011 20:42:30
Poulsen has officially left he club. Confirmed on Liverpoolfc.tv. Thank God for that!!

30 Aug 2011 20:41:53
What's the Poulsen deal?

The deal is, he is gone. Result

30 Aug 2011 20:39:47

Liverpool FC have tonight confirmed that they have reached agreement with Evian Thonon Gaillard for the transfer of Christian Poulsen.

The French side have now been given permission to talk to the Denmark international.

Don't sell decent players to Chelsea just the rubbish ones like that lady boy fernando

30 Aug 2011 20:09:31
Ed or Macca with Chelsea top heavy with forwards would they be willing to listen to offers for Strurridge? Could there be some sort of swap deal? Dubred {Ed001's Note - nope.}

30 Aug 2011 20:09:11
Bit of interesting info from Opta Stats:

Mata has also scored as many Premier League goals for Chelsea in 23 minutes as Torres has in 1,016, making him roughly 44 times better...

Made me smile a bit....

30 Aug 2011 20:02:09
oh will the madness ever end!hope not , but theres allways xmas and then jan....hey ed's.love this site it's helped me through some tough times but hopefuly we can return to the good ones together.kyb

30 Aug 2011 20:01:39
Ed do Newcastle pay stupid wages? How come the can sign Davide santon? Would have loved him for us {Ed001's Note - he was not on huge wages, he is not going to be getting huge wages either.}

30 Aug 2011 20:01:01
A forward with defender passing pace is needed to open up them gaps and exploit any weakness in the opposition defence. I'm sure Mr carrols knockdowns would benefit too. Just an opinion.

30 Aug 2011 19:28:23
whoever we sign ,let go off i just have faith in kk, hes not done too bad so far, our squad is looking good and strong, dead happy with everything liverpool.......lfc

30 Aug 2011 20:27:03
Suarez just posted on Twitter and Facebook:
I want to welcome Coates, partner in the uruguayan team, friend and great player who just signed for Liverpool! WELCOME!

30 Aug 2011 20:25:27
SSN reporting suarez confirmed coates signed on his twitter!!

30 Aug 2011 20:24:41
@ Cheers ;-)

I bet you spell checked that 3+ times to ensure you didn't make a mistake. Obviously there are some posts completely illegible, but i don't think people should be ridiculed for simple errors even the Eds are sometimes prone to making. When I first came to this site I had extensive arguements over correcting peoples spelling. Put yourselves in their shoes. One accidental mis-type, and somebody like you publically humiliates them. To be honest, the human mind can depict any word as long as the first and last letters are correct. The organisation and sometimes even the actual letters within do not need to be accurate.

I hpoe my psot hlpes you to see the lgiht. I konw it can be anyoning soemitmes but you jsut have to setp bcak and let popele laren for thmesleevs.

YNWA! (Aadm)

Lets relax a bit about spelling miskates [;)]... there are worse things than being a rubbish speller. I'd much prefer read spelling mistakes than read the idiotic ramblings of some of the cretins that come on here and abuse others because of who they support or where they come from. Lets stamp out those individuals and put up with bad spellers.

Great post adam, my thoughts exactly m8

RED4lifeNOTjust4XMAS

I am much more concerned about the harshness of the replies to a lot of the posts. Its as if some poeple has nothing better to do than to slag people off.

Yes this is true and let us all not have any more of the racism. This can be good place

30 Aug 2011 20:21:18
ed, i know it will most likely not happen, but for versatility do you not think honda would be ideal? Kelly23 {Ed009's Note - Yes, he would solve all our problems.}

I agree ed. He'd even get the new stadium sorted. He's like Bob the Builder meets Roy of the Rovers!

Keeeeroooo!!

30 Aug 2011 20:16:48
Ed 009 seems certain we'll sign a striker yet ed033 thinks its very unlikely. we're getting mixed messages eds? {Ed009's Note - I am not going to discredit another Ed but we will have to wait and see I suppose. Ed001 is with me on this one too I believe.}

30 Aug 2011 20:13:52
Eds i'm confused. a couple of hours ago it was a certainty that a striker would come in, now it seems unlikely? cheers {Ed009's Note - It isn't unlikely, I am almost certain one will join, but if another Ed has alleged otherwise, we will have to wait and see. I believe Ed001 is with me on this one.}

30 Aug 2011 20:11:24
Luis suarez just posted this on his facebook "I want to welcome Coates, partner in the uruguayan team, friend and great player who just signed for Liverpool! WELCOME!"

30 Aug 2011 19:31:26
Hey Ed..do you think there could be a big deadline day signing to wear the no 10 shirt that is going to be vacated by J Cole i know the owners wont be worried about filling jersey no..just a thought? i have a sneaky feeling we might.Rumours plz.
Red Dave {Ed009's Note - There could well be.}

30 Aug 2011 19:30:08
On a note slightly off topic, the spelling, punctuation and grammar of the majority of posts on this site is truly ridiculous! Please post this on the site so that the illiterate folk can see the error of their ways and maybe begin posting regurgitated lies in proper English at least!

Cheers ;-)

Yeah yeah

It's a rumours board not a english grammer test. Some folk do nothing but troll boards and post tosh whats the matter no players to slag off so you pick on the posts instead oh and sign off your posts instead of hiding behind your keyboard slating people

KoPeNdFaN

Rumours and banter not a spelling test chill out

Please. post, this on/ this school teachers sad post..sorry, forgot, a comma!i am bad ,ohh question?(better put in that. question! mark, before; i get. slaughtered) ARE YOU FOR REAL?

Its a rumour and banter site m8, not a spelling punctuation or grammer test, if you dont like coming on the site because of us illiterates, its easy, stay away..

RED4lifeNOTjust4XMAS

Does it really matter? yet again another smart arse that picks up on peoples spelling, grammar ect.
You must be feeling so proud of yourself right now! go on, give yourself a pat on the back for an eloquently put post disrespecting your teams fans!

well done you!

New signings or not. Does anybody know if any from the reserves/ youth sides are ready to step into the 1. team as the back up striker ? Would love the next "Owen or Fowler" to get a bit of a taste this season.

Could be a better option than to splash cash on somebody warming the bench. Any quality striker would surely be expecting to play.

HardKareKop

There are a few. At the moment Morgan is the most highly rated one, there, but he is a bit too young for premier league. A season or two and he can become a handy option as part time or even full time striker, you never know. YNWA

30 Aug 2011 19:22:43
do arse-nal have any scouts of there own they seem to want to buy every player we have looked or enquired about not that im bothered because im delighted with the players weve signed the squad is startring to look really strong....just thought id point this out is arsen wenger redknapp in disguise

wildRED

I think they use the same barber's!

30 Aug 2011 19:45:12
Just a thought any1 think gradel from leeds would be worth a punt would be cheap plays on the right wing and very young raw talent!

Goldylegend

Nevermind looks like hes off to st eitenne

Yh good shout watched him recently looked good

I agree gradel is a real pacey player and tricky. However sterling will become a legend

30 Aug 2011 19:42:55
Coates will be our last signing so stop getting excited about more cause there will not be until january

Do you agree with this ed? {Ed009's Note - no.}

30 Aug 2011 18:50:50
personally i dont rate meireles(he does no where enough for the team people look at the volley against wolves and think hes the b*******) or benayoun so i reckon sell him for cash and use it on a striker or an attacking midfielder. Most important for me is that whoever we get has to have real pace

Gotta disagree wit u merieles top draw, puts hell of a shift in, another season like last he could be golden!

I like Meireles also but he's abit of a sh*tbag when it come's to a 50 50! and he's gotta work on his forward roll! Alphared

30 Aug 2011 19:04:41
hi ed, just wondering About the possibility for Liverpool To sign a right winger or a striker (second striker) And if Wich is more likely!? keep up the good work :)

FK
{Ed009's Note - A striker who can cover on the wings. That is why we looked for Bellamy.}

30 Aug 2011 18:59:01
Heard today that we habe bid £10m for Coleman, after Moyes stated that every player has a price. If that is true then id expect Kuyt to be used as the third striker. Anyone else hear this? Ed?

Anfield Andy

30 Aug 2011 18:54:53
Zarate loan deal hinges on a buy clause been put in...expect a big marquee signing

30 Aug 2011 18:37:59
Now I'm not a big ed but I'm sure my comment about 6 wks ago re zarate on our radar, which was rubbished by ed, was ahead of time and correct

It might have been incorrect at the time and interest is only recent. Hope you enjoyed blowing your trumpet, though.

Signing off would help people believe you....

James Mc

Congrats

30 Aug 2011 18:27:28
I know sources on twitter are very unreliable but I saw transfer rumours about Barrios earlier in the summer and they are starting to re-apear on twitter again. Rumour has it we will submit an initial £16million with Ngog part exchange

30 Aug 2011 18:23:06
I know he quite old, but with Forlan on his way to Inter, and Pazzini being their prefered striker, why not purchase Milito as a BEYOND BRILLIANT super sub/magic man. He is still world class, but becoming third choice at Inter.

?
The Insane

Pazzini completed a loan switch to Napoli several days ago - so that's a no go

LFCTHB007

So he would leave Inter as third choice, to move to Liverpool to be third choice. Makes complete sense to me

30 Aug 2011 18:22:36
Hi Ed's

Im sure the tips of your fingers will be RED raw by 11pm tomorrow night...so a big thanks in advance from us all for your patience and of course info.

atlfc70 {Ed009's Note - If they're red raw by 11 I can't wait to see what they are like at 3 in the morning when there is still stuff we're clarifying. I wouldn't miss it though... even though I can't get on tille 7 PM. Wait for me guys...}

30 Aug 2011 18:22:17
These rumours regarding Raul & Yossi,personally dont really want Raul to go think he is a better player than Yossi,plus Yossi did slag us off the same way that other s**tbag did sayin they were moving to Chavski a bigger club to win trophies,tell yossi to sling his hook & piss off to Lille with that other misfit Cole,if Chavski want Raul demand sturridge & £10mill or ask for full £15 mill & test Citeh's resolve with a bid for A Johnson....

Lady Luck xx

30 Aug 2011 18:09:44
Hey ed I have never abused any one or used abusive language then why have my last 2 posts not got posted.
Have I done something wrong?
Red indian {Ed002's Note - I have no idea - I did not cut them but you will appreciate there are vast amounts of posts, no time to answer all of the questions and if there are duplicates they will be cut over the next couple of days.}

30 Aug 2011 17:59:17
Hi Ed's and Reds

One thing I thought over the last two seasons was that less and less teams feared coming to Anfield..I now think that teams will be sh1tting themselves..and I agree with a fellow poster..If the League finished now as it stands I would be very satisfied..although if we are up their come end of April you just never know.

PS I hope we make a move for A Johnson..but dealing with the baby and his new toy will prevent it happening

just seen craig bellamy in huyton asda getting petrol looks like he is on his way

He would have been picked up by one of the clubs cars or by kenny himself

Well if he was buying petrol I would guess he will be on his way somewhere as his car wouldn't go without it.

Thanks for a reminder of the fact that cars need fuel so people can be on their way.

Mr Benn

But if hes buying outta his own contract and dying to come back maybe club are taking piss getting him to fill up a fleet car! Hang around the official store they might send him in to buy his own kit!

EVERY PENNY SAVED...

All that tells me is that he's had his payoff from City cause that's the only way he can afford petrol...

30 Aug 2011 17:46:14
If Macca is right about the meireles/bennayoun deal and say we received approx 10 mil in the deal is it likely these funds would be used immediately to secure a second striker or am I simplifying the money issue again?

Cheers
Greggers

Dont want Yossi(past his best),hope he realised that the grass is not always greener on the other side & slagged us off "I am going to a bigger club to win trophies" so stay there you w***er....

pistol pete 77

Isn't Yossi out for 6 Months?

Inspector X

Can anyone put the link up to where Yossi said that?.. My recolection was that he was player of the season pretty much and told by Rafa to find a new club.. He never made comments about big clubs..

30 Aug 2011 17:42:00
After Coates whu is our next target and wat do you tink of Meireles....he shud not leave in one season...??

I like meireles and think he compliments suarez when they play together especially in the arsenal match but he thinks LFC have done the dirty on him over a wage increase which was a verbal agreement with Roy Hodgeson ( i think ) so like aquilani if he wants to go let him go im sure Kenny knows of better players for his position

MJ

30 Aug 2011 17:35:02
ED do you think we will try and loan a striker instead of buying 1?

ste liverpool {Ed009's Note - Only if a good one is available, in which case it always makes sense. Bellamy or perhaps Zarate are options in this regard.}

30 Aug 2011 17:32:59
Hi Ed's in your opinion who is better modric or meireles, i have never seen modric play so seeing that his valuation is £40 million astounds me and also how much do you think meireles should sell for IMO i think about £15-18 million...sorry for the stupid question but im just curious

MJ {Ed009's Note - Modric by a long, long way. 40 million is still too much though, naturally, but Spurs can't afford to lose him or they are done for. I agree that 15 million would be fair.}

30 Aug 2011 17:27:07
How is it that Newcastle are signing 'the new Paolo Maldini' Santon for just £5m ?
He can play on both sides of the pitch, already a full international at the age of 20... and is going to Newcastle?
Where's the catch, Eds? Is he injury prone or is there something else that we don't know? Why do the so called big clubs ignore him?
Also, do you think KK might be a bit prejudiced about italian players now after seeing what a tosser Aquilani turned out to be?
Please, answer.
RhI {Ed009's Note - He doesn't want to leave Italy which would have put a lot of teams off. Unless a player really wants to be with the club, he should never join. I doubt Kenny is stupid enough to judge all Italy on one player.}

Inter don't want him as they don't think he's good enough, hence the reason he was loaned to Cesena last year. No other 'big' team has shown an interest either - surely that should tell you something...

30 Aug 2011 17:25:50

mite get some abuse for this but who else thinks that the top four now is how it will be come may??
mush {Ed009's Note - Exactly what I said to a mate the other day.}

I'd take that. Then, next year we can make a push..
rHI

I agree it may not stay this way for whole season but i do think it will be top 4 at the end dave ynwa

Liverpool
City
Man Utd
Chelsea

Have to agree mate I think we will finish 3rd or 4th this season and maybe make our way up for the following seasons. I believe the only team stopping us is City.
Cheers mate :)

30 Aug 2011 17:04:25
Hi Ed(s) / Macca

OK - are we saying that as well as Coates, we are looking like getting Bellamy and AN Other striker as well or just Bellamy?
I also note with interest that the Miereles/Yossi deal may still happen if the Ruski opens his wallet a bit wider! Keep up the great work. The site is addictive!
The Goatherder
JFT96 {Ed009's Note - One striker and maybe a winger/midfielder.}

30 Aug 2011 17:04:00
Ed, Kenny and Comolli have discussed Chelsea's interest in Meirelles and have decided to adopt the Torres/Carroll formula. Meirelles will cost Chelsea £5m more than whatever LFC's replacement will cost. LFC have just increased their bid for Messi to £245m. Does this make Messi overpriced? Reality Red.

Best post today by far lmfao:))
king henry

At 245m Messi is a real bargain. Lolz :)

30 Aug 2011 17:02:19
eds, unless im missing something.....selling meireles and getting yossi seems like a backward step
meireles knows how to play with suarez, and has settled in the team and is young....yossi is older, has not played under kenny, and so will be less familiar with our new style of play?
plz post and reply
Kabir {Ed009's Note - Meireles hardly plays anyway. Benayoun would be a cheaper, lower waged back up.}

Meireles is a much better player than Yossi ( who was great for us IMHO) and with the age difference I would rather have Raul. He gives us more than Yossi would do now. Give Raul his pay rise and forget about the fees stuff. By the time you add in the management time of KK DC etc to negotiate a deal then the money will be saved on the accounts. They can spend it elsewhere more constructively.
Iggypop

30 Aug 2011 16:59:38
Hi Ed, who do you see as our first option for a striker? is it Bellamy? and if not Bellamy who's the most likely? Cheers Eds {Ed009's Note - Perhaps Bellamy then Zarate.}

30 Aug 2011 16:49:00
Heading towards deadline day and there is no mention of Turan, Mata or Aguero.... Eds you must be loving this! Cant wait for the new multi year targets! {Ed009's Note - I was loving it, but people will take this as a promise they are all signing...}

There will be not mention of mata or aguero because they have both signed for chelsea and man city. even if this is meant to be a joke its pathetic. brain fart. and youve followed through all over your face.

adam mc.

30 Aug 2011 16:48:48
Eds, Podolski has been mentioned a bit lately, is here any substance in the rumours {Ed009's Note - I don't know of any interest.}

30 Aug 2011 16:38:53
Benny was never good enough whilst at the club, so to allow him back with the quality that is Raul going the other way for me would be plain stupidity

BENNY SCORED alot of goals for liverpool n is great at linking up n is more attcking , meireles is just central n not very good out wide but we can use beeny out wide
5 gold stars

BENNY out wide, give up, if a full back ever had a bet that anyone was going to cut in the he'd be odds on that benny would. Raul has scored near as many goals in one season and is a more intelligent player. Yes Yossi linked up play now and again but you can not be serious in saying you think its good business. Raul earnt us at least 12 points on his own last year!

To the person above who said Raul scored as many goals in one season as Yossi; Know your facts before you post sh*te!
Yossi 2007-2008: 11 goals
" 2008-2009: 9 goals
" 2009-2010: 9 goals
Raul 2010-2011: 5 goals

30 Aug 2011 16:37:40
I for one are starting to feel like were becoming chelsea's feeder club, torres, benayoun, mirelles, almost gerrard twice, then give us back benayoun because he's gash,
who next season saurez, coates, reina just take your pick we dont mind.

just like arsenal did with city, adabayor, toure, clichy, nasri, this has to stop, if they want mirelles they should pay top whack of offer us somebody decent in return.
Jaydee

It's all about money these days and because Man City and Chelsea can offer more it encourages them to make cheeky bids as they know they are in for half a chance. Until FFP comes in this will remain the case. Unfortunately for a team like Liverpool it means we have to scout more efficiently to buy players who are younger and will be prepared to come for the experience and wages we can offer and we can then hope that they will come good such as Suarez and Torres did for a time.

Awe go away , mereleis not that good n torres turned out to be past it n bad injuries, we made gr8 money out of them n were better all 4 it
5 gold stares

I know wikipedia is never a given for breaking news....but it says podolski is a LFC player, maybe they know something we dont........doubt it!
Eds, I dont think this needs a reply {Ed028's Note - Okay I won't reply, oops}

Haha I did that purposely to see if it ended up on this site lmfao...

30 Aug 2011 16:25:05
I'm starting to get a little nervous about the Coates transfer, why isn't the deal officially announced already when he aquired a work permit? {Ed028's Note - These things take time, the Bank holiday didn't help. Things should happen later today}

30 Aug 2011 16:17:59
Hello Eds,

You said that Meireles is likely to be leaving now...what is the reason?..also due to what personal reasons is Brad Jones leaving LFC..what is the latest in the transfer news?

Ashish, Fan from India {Ed028's Note - I simply don't know the reason, Macca??}

30 Aug 2011 16:23:10
Any news on the Bellamy situation? Is he really willing to pay 4.8m to get his move to Liverpool? It seems hard to believe. Any more on this eds. Thanks

I believe it's off at this moment

Any craic? {Ed028's Note - Read below...}

30 Aug 2011 16:07:14
Twitter )neil Ashton): Sebastion Coates sails through work permit, now officially a Liverpool player. Uruguayan defender has Scottish father.

So he didn't know his dad had an unusual Scottish accent eh?
Grandfather or great grandfather I suspect {Ed028's Note - Yes}

30 Aug 2011 16:03:49
Eds do you know if merieles wants to leave or isit just if Chelsea bid a big enough fees he will be available {Ed009's Note - He believes that promises of a higher salary were not kept - a higher salary he would certainly find at Chelsea, so I believe he would certainly be willing to leave.}

30 Aug 2011 16:01:12
On Hazards Wikipedia page it says he would 'love to go arsenal and leave lile with 28 million'
Yes obviously true considering he doesnt play for LILE

30 Aug 2011 16:01:10
Wheres Dalglish?? Wheres DC? Anyone have any ideas? {Ed009's Note - They're cuddling up on my sofa and we're watching the box set of Desperate Housewives. Why, they in a rush to do something?}

Ed are you being serious are they really just chilling? That p**ses me off cant believe this its not right! Rafa would never have done that he wudda been watching EL DORADO ON UK GOLD!

YODA ED

Ed lol.... amazing

They sed they was well up for a bit o doggin tonite. must av been a smokescreen.

Rafa watched a lot of Only Fools and Horses and other sitcoms to learn english. What a wierd couple of sessions Liverpool must of had hearing Rafa using the tounge of Del Boy.

Is that why he always called stevie g, dave?

30 Aug 2011 15:39:17
Ed, do you think Liverpool will try to sign another cm, if Meireles is sold, or will they rely on current mids and youth such as Coady? {Ed028's Note - If, and that's a big if we sell Meireles I think we have adequate cover, but it's not up to me}

30 Aug 2011 15:36:05
Eds with last night seeing Afellay in the stands and no mention of an injury, do you see a chance if a slim one of him becoming a Liverpool player before the close of the transfer window? imo i think Afellay would suit Liverpool perfectly his pace, crossing ability, skill on the ball and willingness to take on players aswell being able to play on both wings, i may have my head in the clouds abit but we can dream

Thanks and an Amazing site well done {Ed028's Note - He is currently injured, however he has fallen down the pecking order and the appeal is there, though I doubt we will bid for him.}

30 Aug 2011 15:32:43
Hi Ed's and Reds

Just a quick question and would like to hear your thoughts.

Are Man City basically saying...we can buy from our rivals..but our rivals cant buy from us..Is this not a dangerous stance to take for future relationships with rival clubs..if this attitude continues,I think other rival clubs will just get pissed off eventually and stop dealing with them full stop.

atlfc70

Yeah that'll make a huge difference. The Clichy and Nasri situations would have been so different if Arsenal hadn't wanted to deal with City. They were clearly so desperate to sell

Red Ollie

Ok RED Ollie

City now have Nasri..Wenger puts a bid in for say A Jonson..and hes told ..Nope not selling to a rival club..I would doubt Wenger would be a happy man.

atlfc70

30 Aug 2011 15:30:50
ed please tell me were not seriously thinking of selling meireiles ? it doesnt make sense you need all these players if your going to challenge for things ! he showed his class in the brief display against arsenal. {Ed028's Note - It's on the cards, although I hope it doesn't happen}

30 Aug 2011 15:46:01
I wonder why the interest (if there ever truly was any from us, that is) from Arsenal, LFC & Spurs died down?
Problems with his injury?

Alright Ed's, I don't usually post and I am one of the many people who get frustrated with rumours like Higuain and Aguero etc.. but a lot of people have just started talking about Neymar in the last few minutes, do you know anything or is it just more fans dreaming {Ed009's Note - It is a Twittergasm.}

30 Aug 2011 15:41:16
PLEASE!! Everyone stop the rumours about Neymar to Liverpool. Not going to happen, however much i want it to. The only place he is going is Real Madrid.

30 Aug 2011 15:17:34
Ed, more speculations in spain over affelay, he has fallen down the pecking order due to new arrivals.. what do you reckon?... also sources say bellamy transfer likely to go through he is willing to buy out his contract and take a pay cut. deal should be done on deadline day

Mr Brown {Ed028's Note -There remains a small chance, I'm not too sure on Bellamy, there's lots of different stories floating around, I'll try and find out for you}

30 Aug 2011 15:16:34
Suarez without Gerrard CLASS, Suarez with Gerrard (;

30 Aug 2011 15:13:28
Where are the Podolski rumours coming from ? {Ed028's Note - Twitter no doubt, yawn!}

30 Aug 2011 15:12:58
Coates still not confirmed, bit worried. Why is taking so long? If Ngog goes surely we should replace him? Fact is we will not know until the deadline has passed. Could it be that there is another big name signing heading our way? We wait in anticipation. It is a guessing game for everyone at the moment.

Would not sell Mereiles, fantastic player to have and when Stevie returns it will make our midfield even stronger.

Red4ever {Ed028's Note - The Bank holiday caused a delay yesterday, Coates SHOULD be confirmed later today}

30 Aug 2011 15:10:23
Ed - is there any chance of meireles swap with daniel sturidge it would be a great bit of buisness {Ed028's Note - Maybe, but don't hold your breath}

Great if it's Sturridge + 12-15mil. Ridiculous if it's a straight swap.

I'm not even sure about the 1st either. We've got depth in midfield with him in our squad. Take him out and we will lack!

To IRISHRED,

The top Irish player we need is James McCarthy. Id also like us to have Ciaran Clarke(but havent seen too many of his games)also McGeady would be worth a punt.
But the team always feels right with a core of scousers(even when their born blue)couple of Scots couple of Irish and a Norwegian or a Dane.

PS Does anyone know how Adam Hammill is getting on at Wolves always thought that lad had potential.

DONT BUY THE SUN

30 Aug 2011 14:49:42
What is with KK and Merieles not getting along. is it the age factor? Or the fact that he is little injury prone for the premier league. We all saw what he did last year and is certainly the creative player we need as a sub. (when hes not starting).

30 Aug 2011 14:49:24
Check out Eden Hazard on wikipedia.

Like the Ed's keep saying, anyone can edit the page. Looks like Roman's been at this one.....

Why can't anyone find out what time Coates has got the work permit hearing?. I mean its not like it should realy matter enough to not let people know just what time it is. Can't see liverpool football club would care as to weather the fans know what time it is, why is it a big secret?

Lmao if it don't matter why ru askin

Somebody keeps talking about Lilly cole?
When did we sign her?

30 Aug 2011 14:39:31
joe cole is not going to lille. there is no truth in it what so ever. he wants to stay in england.

30 Aug 2011 14:27:26
Very excited hear about prospects of potential new signings! Bellamy, Ruiz, Afellay, Zarate just to name a few... contrast to the mood 1 year ago when our last player to sign was...Konchesky (shudder)! Hoping we have a big secret signing just like when Meireles was announced last year! SingRed

Cheers,

YNWA. {Ed001's Note - I haven't seen a lot of him, but I did have a good chat with a man who works collating stats, he recently covered the Copa America. According to his statistics Coates was the best defender by a country mile or 3. I am not sure what he was on about, it was gone 3am and I was barely awake, but he thinks the lad is going to be a star and is very excited about him playing for us.}

30 Aug 2011 14:16:52
Blackburn have had a £5m offer accepted for Scott Dann??
How low did LFC (if we were ever interested) and Arsenal bid for this kid? Gooners are thick if they refused to pay Brum 5m.

30 Aug 2011 14:15:25
Its been the best transfer window i can remember. Onlt thing is becuase of some of the romours come deadline if we don't sign anyone other than Coates it will feel a bit of a let down.I'm realy praying we sign Affelay or Zarate.

30 Aug 2011 14:14:49
Davide Santon is having a medical at Newcastle.... I'm very surprised other prem clubs aren't chasing this kid. Spurs, Arsenal, Villa. Don't think we (LFC) need him but cant believe Newcastle will be his final destination.

Can Liverpool approach Newcastle to be our feeder club ed's! lol :)

30 Aug 2011 14:09:25
hi ed do you think city will come to a compromise regarding bellamy? thanks {Ed001's Note - City were apparently happy to allow Bellamy to buy out his contract, that was the situation before I went away on Friday. Since then Spurs have made their interest very clear, City would prefer him to move there.}

Thanks for the information Ed, are spurs leading the chase then? I hope we manage to sign him. he is a red fan anyways! {Ed009's Note - He wants to join Liverpool but Spurs are less of a threat to City's position so they would vastly prefer him to move there.}

Ulsterpool i really am sorry to hear about your dog pal. About 3 year ago i got my 8 year old Staff nicked one night from outside the local shop and to this day after puttin adverts in the local paper and looking for a long time, never heard nothing from the dog since. I cant even look at a picture of him out of pure guilt, because i let him down so much. He relyed on me to look after him and i let him down. Really feel for you and your family mate. Jonson6

That's desperate mate. There are some scumbags about, more's the pity. The dogs are part of the family and when there's nothing you can do it's very very difficult. But, you have to put the dog first, and she's ready to go whether we're ready or not. No match this week for a distraction either. Sad. Thanks mate

IMO bellamy is not viable for NESV, and hints of panic go along with this transfer !
Sturridge, young english, prem exp. only ? is chelski ! buy outright? probably not. swap deal? again a possibility but are very rare and in such short notice a little close to the wire.

Wrong Ruiz. It says Valencia sign Ruiz from Napoli Which is Victor Ruiz. Bryan Ruiz(Who were linked with) plays for FC Twente

If I was Kenny I'd only accept a Meireles deal if Sturridge went the other way. I doubt this will happen though. It might be acceptable to seel Meireles if we put the money straight into signing a quality back up signing (eg/ Walcott). I have a feeling we'll sign Benayoun now Lille are going to take Cole, I think that's a bit of a weird one. I hoep we sign a back up striker as well as N'Gog seems set to leave

I remember the ed's saying we were interested in Park Chu-Young. So, with Park Chu-Young going to Arsenal last minute instead of Lille, and Joe Cole now going to Lille, there's a circle involving Liverpool that needs to be closed. So, will a Lille or Arsenal player be coming to Liverpool?

I think ts benayoun shane

Redrevival {Ed001's Note - he is due back early next month, as far as I know he has been training all along, just not properly, but basic fitness work. I haven't been keeping close tabs on him, it is far too busy during the transfer window to do more than keep up with transfers, but I believe he was due back to full training on the 9th September.}

Mr Brown {Ed001's Note - I don't think Yossi will come back, he has already achieved his dream of playing for us.}

30 aug 2011 13:14:04
ed if coates is not granted.do you think we will not sugih a centre back until jan cause carra and agger havnt put a foot wrong {Ed001's Note - I don't think there will be a problem getting him a permit, but I doubt we would sign someone else for centre back if he doesn't get one.}

Did u not see boltons goal lol

30 Aug 2011 13:18:47
I think we would part with merieles if chelsea were to include sturridge in the deal but it's very unlikey. But i think if merieles was to go we would go in for moussa sissoko who dc has apparently identified him as being gerrard's long term replacement!
Skurks

Only problem is that Sissoko is priced at over 30 million. Are we going to spend that now? I don't think so.

Love to see you eat your words mate. He needs a work permit, its not nailed on that he will get one. If he don't sign for us in this window will will lose him to manc city

I would just like to say, although Kenny has done a fantastic job thus far, the one unsung hero in all this is Steve Clarke. Wherever he has been, he has been a success, got teams playing a good brand of football and is respected by all. I think that Kenny and Steve are the perfect blend for a management team. Kenny knows the club inside out and is a fantastic motivator and Steve seems to be brilliant with tactics and knows the modern game well. What a great team we have.

Kenny employed him. Knows what he's doing King Kenny

EDS. With the rumour of Amoo looking for a club, are any other supporters worried about the number of young players being released by the club. Who do fans think will break into the team, apart from those already already selected.
Also if we are looking for another striker, what about giving a youngster a chance - Adam Morgan for instance.
fitlfc {Ed009's Note - I am afraid that if any players are being released from the club it is because they are simply not good enough to make it, or the club is wrong for them. Amoo is not overly young any more and he remains yet to refine his game past raw pace.}

Thanks for reply. I do realise that many won't make the step up, it's just that us fans get excited watching the young players in reserve games and feel disappointed when the kids don't progress. Hopefully Suso, Sterling and Morgan, Coady etc. will keep striving for the club and themselves. FITLFC {Ed001's Note - there is a world of difference between Morgan, Suso and Sterling compared to Amoo. Amoo was fast, but he was a bit of a headless chicken and failed to improve his positional play, off the ball movement or use of the ball in his time with us. Players that show progress will get a chance, such as Kelly, who is certainly on the verge of being first choice right back now.}

30 Aug 2011 12:42:41
Hi eds. I read with some interest a rumour linking us with van der Vaart but it got me thinking that in order to get him we would probably have to ship out a midfielder as we do seem oversubscribed there. Joe Cole seems destined to leave but if there is any mileage in the rumour of VDV coming then does it mean that Meireles IS leaving for Chelski? This would go someway to explaining the refusal of the Benayoun swap deal. I would be gutted to lose Raul but if the replacement was VDV I would be a very happy little scouser indeed. I know its a very very slim possibility and probably best described as a conspiracy theory but do you see any credence in this train of thought at all?

Great site, I'm addicted as between all the nonsense, there is a lot of accuracy, keep up the excellent work.

KopKat

Dunno. At least Raul can manage to play 90 minutes. I know he's injured but that was a bit of a freak injury - VDV never completes a full match because of seemingly permanent fitness issues.

VDV was the best thing since sliced bread according to spuds. A fantastic coup by 'Arry. What's happened? Let's not buy other teams cast offs, just their best players.haha

Little overweight fella that plays for spurs!

Telling ya about pouring. Feck me do you just have one of them days where everything starts bad gets worse and worse. Hopefully karma has finished with me for today. Dog's fine now,very gingerly took them out,got 2, and the one who was ill this morning was livley off the lead, then they both eat so he seems back to normal rowdy self. Got docs at 4 with my back going and The Real KB put the first smile on my face(beside my dog being right,dont know what was wrong but... ) today reading his post. Things are looking better but thats life,we've all got our own problems to deal with. It is amazing what 22 grown men kicking a ball around a piece of grass with 11 in red,the joy that can take you away from the mundane and worry's in life can do for a mans mood and way of thinking,no other team on earth can do that. Thank you Lord for making me a Red. I cant understand why anyone would want to support anyone else. They really dont know what their missing out on,forget the bitching amongst us for a sec and think about supporting another team,makes me shudder thinking about it dont know about you,think about turning your back on your goal scorer's like the taxing City fans do and feel how embarrassed it'd be to do when you want to see the joy of the players and they want to see the smiles and hear the cheers on the fans faces. I just cant imagine being as enthusiastic or passionate supporting another team. Liverpool FC thanks for everything you've got me and more then likely more then a few other fans through some rough ol times over the years. Jonson6

ARSENAL:

LFC fans "symphatizing" with the Goons is nothing short of appalling.
Arsenal's an enemy; a direct barrier to LFC reclaiming its place in the top 4 elite.

If they strong and doing well, our task becomes much harder, much daunting.
Therefore, I want them weak; I want them a proper mess, along with their neighbouring cocks t**tenham.

When we spectacularly tumbled and went free-falling to the depths of the abyss after 2008/09, the Goons and the cocks t**tenham couldn't be more thrilled and were licking their lips.

A formidable competitor (LFC) was in the doldrums. For the Goons this was a BIG chance to re-establish themselves as credible title challengers.
For the Cockney cretins t**tenham, the Champions League floodgates were opened.

The decline of LFC had significantly tilted the scales, this in the Goons and t**tenham's favours.

Did you hear either of these teams' fans commiserating with LFC, expressing how they hoped we would soon be back up challenging? No! If they did, then they were bozos of the highest order.

LFC sorting itself out would be spell trouble for them, as we are currently seeing. So for them, Hicks, Gillet and staying on and sucking the life out of this club was the ideal.
Even the bitter, bloodied also-rans that is Evertosh were revelled in the mess we were in.

So unless I'm missing something, why the bloody frimpong hell should I commiserate with Arsenal? Why oh why?
Why should I wish Arsenal well?

I can wish Wigan, Swansea, Norwich well, NOT Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Spurs and the Manc filth.
They can go bust for all I care.
Any LFC who says otherwise is a gross disgrace.

TRANSFERS:

A fella I know who's largely reliable told that we enquired about Fernando Gago last week.
Whether or not it happens is unknown, but what it indicates is that we been looking at a defensive mid.

Considering that Lucas' our only recognised, capable enforcer, I'd not be surprised if indeed we've considered Gago.
It's long been clear that without Lucas we terribly struggle defensively.
There's no cover, let alone adequate one.

We used to have Masch and Lucas, excellent cover.
So maybe it's what Kenny has in mind.
And he probably must.
That Spearing simply doesn't pass muster.
For all the heart (fair enough for that), the ability plainly isn't there.
But being a "local lad", I expected he'll be viewed through tinted glasses.

Ed, a question. The feeling's been that, additional to Coetes and a forward, LFC would bring in a midfielder. Rumour's been that it could be Afellay or Benayoun.
Now there's talk of Meireles leaving.

So ed, should Raul leave, do you see two midfielders then coming in?
Could we see a forward (Bellamy?), Afellay and Gago (or their ilk) being bought the next two days?

Baie dankie

Burmeister

I personally would like to think that us Liverpool fans are better than that. I want us to win things and be in the Champions League because we deserve to be, not because another team are in crisis. I have a lot of respect for Arsenal. They have grown organically and gone about business in the right way. They have always been a club not a billionaires play thing. What makes our league so great is the amount of quality teams we have. I wouldn't want us to go the way of the SPL or La Liga. I hope Arsenal do recover and that we still beat them because we are a great team. Their manager is the definition of loyalty and I for one respect that.

Ash

2008/09? you mean the year we came 2nd to united? that year wasnt too bad in my opinion! maybe you mean the following year where we came 7th? or at least i hope you do!

and people are allowed to feel bad for fans of opposing teams if they want, especially if we have been in a similar situation!its called good sportsmanship!

to be honest i'd prefer to beat a good teams to make the top four again, not getting there becuase our competition wasnt really competition!then at least we'll know our worth.

DLB

Great post Ash. Totally agree. Read a lot of posts on here and I think you have summed things up well.

LFC 1892

Couldn't be arsed reading all that but for me Spearing is a perfectly capable back up for Lucas

Red Ollie

Couldnt agree more Ash you would think other fans would look back at this time last year before i hope Arsenal come out of this and prove you can still run a club properly and do well. If we win get in Europe or even win the league i want it to be because we deserve to not because other clubs are in crisis

Arsenal are a great historic club built over time and effort not by a billionaire's bank cheque. I personally wish them the best throughout their crisis as long as they finish below us.

cozinoz

I'm sorry, but in my view, you are completely wrong.

Paul R

I like Arsenal always have done, they've always been a well run football club and at times over the last 20yrs have stood between the mancs and total domination.
So I for one was sad to them lose 8.2 to an ordinary manc team.

According to Sky Sports Transfer centre, Coates is having his work permit hearing today !!

Fingers crossed it gets sorted today.

Getting a work permit depends not only on the player, but also on the country he is a citizen of. Since Uruguay have shot up the rankings and are Copa America champions, it should not be a problem for him to get the permit.

30 Aug 2011 12:13:09
Eds, what happens if Coates doesn't get his work permit granted in the hearing later today?
Bean {Ed002's Note - Refer to earlier answers}

Coates set to have hearing today over work permit, everyone around the deal is confident he will get it.

being irish i think he is the best irish player we could possibly be in for ! reminds me of martin kelly and can score goals ! what do you think ed ? would it be a good addition in your eyes ?
cheers mate :)
irishred. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea who you are talking about}

Oh sorry mate !! I was talking about Seamus Coleman !!

What's your thoughts of him Ed ?
Cheers mate :)
IrishRed. {Ed009's Note - I am a big fan of the player. He is perhaps Everton's best and would be a good option on our right wing. That said I am not so sure he would be worth the price he would cost to bring from Everton and there are even better options out there.}

He's injured for 2 month's so cannot see it happenin

I cant see it happening either mate but just saying he would be a great addition and possibly the best Irish option available !! And Ed I love it when we are linked with players like him !! I have been seeing a price tag of around 8m and for that I think he should snap him up !!
Cheers mate :)
IrishRed.

My pal from inside KopTalk says Coates should be confirmed today. If that's true that's going to push us even further in the search for a striker, with a possible 10 mill signing on our hands but he didn't want to declare who it was since he wasn't sure.

UnderRed

30 Aug 2011 10:45:02
Given the fees that are being quoted for said central defenders...it looks like we got a bargain with Seb Coates.
Great work

Might be better to wait and see him play before you rate him as a bargain.

dmedly

7mil is a bargain.

Remember when Ray Kennedy arrived as a big, bustling centre forward many moons ago (Shankly's last signing). The genius that was Bob Paisley converted him to a left midfielder and the rest is history.
Imagine if Sir Bob was still in charge now. Wonder where he'd put Andy Carroll ? Lol.
Now jonson6 mate, this is my attempt at satire. Lol.
The Real KB

He's too slow to play Centre Half, although he has got a look of Big Ron Yeats about him :-) Only messin he'll be alright when he's sat on the bench for a few games and the pressure is off cos sooner or later he will come on and bag a couple.

Remember , the U21 cut-off birthdate for the ENTIRE 2011/12 ( 25 man squad ) is :

01 January 1990

Kelly , Henderson , Flanagan , Robinson , Shelvey ,
Coates ( if signed ) will NOT be named in the squad on first of September .

How can you disagree , this is a fact !

Disagree with your unsigned post? How very dare they!
Milamber

I didn't say Cardiff would pay him £90k a week - they'll pay him a % of that like they did last year when Cardiff paid him £30k p/w and City kept paying him £60k

30 Aug 2011 10:02:41
Craig Bellamy will not be joining LFC as he is holding out on a move to Cardiff City.

Neither Liverpool or Spurs are willing to pay Bellamy his £90k a week. Man City did have a policy at the end of last season not to loan out players and continue to pay part of their wages, but this has now changed.

Man City have now changed their stance and realise that they can't force players to leave on a permanent basis and so economically it is better for them to loan out players and (in Bellamy's case) continue to pay some of his wages.

Cardiff gonna pay 90k a week r they?

Why are people still obsessed with smokescreens? We do our business behind closed doors until there is something to be said to the public, If we enquire about a player it is because we ARE interested! There are no smokescreens so get over it!

30 Aug 2011 09:39:24
I understand my post is a little late, but watching Henderson, Škrtel and Adam celebrate their goals gave me goose pumps. The point I am getting to is the passion that you could see and how much scoring for Liverpool meant to each one of them. Henderson and Adam being new signing should show to doubter that Kenny has bought the right people to the club, players who are willing to die for the cause. Not over paid so called foreign superstars, who will turn their back once things get a little ruff (Torres). I cannot wait to get this ridiculous International week out of the way to get back to business. I use to be apprehensive going to the Britannia, but with our squad I think we have more than enough to get a win.

James Mc

Goose pumps? Look out for the RSPB wanting to take you to court for that.

Each to their own, I suppose.

I agree it's nice to see a happy squad with lot's of passion i think it's all down to kk he's like a god to us liverpool fans!

Good point though mate. I loved to see the way the whole team, in fact, celebrated the goals with a real joy. You could see Charie Adam was made up.

Hey Ed's i wanted to ask use about carlos tevez , at the moment no one wants him , he's warming the bench at city and his value has probably gone down since last season , so do use reckon comolli and his staff have looked to bring him in ? because with all honesty i can see him fitting in well with all the spanish and south american players at the club and plus an mouth watering partnership with suarez that would be something. {Ed001's Note - no.}

Anyone who has any idea about the passion and loyalty ...would never want a player like Tevez. He is bad news for any manager and dressing room.
Kenny would not want to undo all his good work.

Your completely deluded mate

30 Aug 2011 09:31:14
I'd be happy if our last 2 signings were Coates and Bellamy. This would offer a long term replacement for Jamie Carragher and would offer us genuine pace up front. If we got Bellamy on a 1 or 2 year deal, this would give us time to get back in the Champions League and then start looking at the bigger players such as Higuain.

morn ed well hear we go under 48hrs to go.i had to book this week off,i just have to see what is going on min by min.right ed if the ski want meireles fine he is class and are player,lets show we are no soft touch to deal with now,The ski were to pay 35m to the yid's for modric so lets tell the ski its 18m plus sturrdge and no less, lets start making so money on sales.stump up or shut up.ed i can still see king kenny and DC being back by are owner's again pulling out a joker right at the last i can just see it.coates will sign it is all but done is that right ed.but there will be player come in we just did not see coming....jay essex red for life red till dead.ps 2 THE OWNER'S a big thank u for this window walk on {Ed001's Note - I was told Coates is just awaiting medical results before being confirmed, though they seem to take days to come through nowadays!}

30 Aug 2011 09:15:08
This is what I believe will happen in the last hours of this transfer window. We will wrap up the deal for Sebastian Coates for 7M in the coming hours, and then look to Afellay and Zarate on loan deals with an options to buy but the problem is that Afellay is currently injured and also Barcalona what a buy back clause and we are not willing for them to do that. Other options for the wing are Marvin Martin and Bryan Ruiz and other options up front are Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Soldado. But Chelsea want Meireles in return for Sturridge and if we accept that then we will also try for Moussa Sissoko in a last minute deal. Players leaving will be Jones, Degan, Cole, Amoo(Loan), Poulsen, Spearing(Loan) and Ngog

Thoughts Anyone?

DanTheRedMan

I think that sounds really possible as dc has identified sissoko as gerrard's long term replacement? I would love meireles to stay but if we had sturridge as part of any deal from chelsea an then we went out to sign sissoko i think that would be very good buissness!
Skurks

Affellay and Ruiz would also be my options for wingers and I also agree that Meireles should only be sold if Chelsea offer atleast 15m + Sturridge, he is a good player and we must sell him on our terms. Sissoko is a solid midfielder but since Lucas is doing his defensive job really well, I think we should target a more creative midfielder similar to Nasri or Iniesta. Someone to unlock the tightest of defences and able to play in a few different positions. Dont know if there is enough time but we'll see.

E.H LFC

Sissoko is priced at over 30 million. I don't see us signing him, eventhough I rate him highly.

G'day Eds and Sir Macca, just wanted to wish you well for the final 39 odd hours of this transfer window. I don my hat to you for the jobs you do, especially given the amount of horse shoe you constantly have to put up with.

Thanks for supplying and facilitating 3 months worth of excitement, entertainment and most of all addiction.

Just one last question, are we in for Aguero?

In stead of having a transfere window in aug and jan
why not just end it in jan

so no aug window

then we not get all this silly over spending as much then

what yo think ed

Should be the other way around? Start the season with a squad and finish it with the same squad?
Iggypop

It wouldn't be fair on the small club!

Corkpoolred {Ed001's Note - it was fairer on the small clubs when the window stayed open for longer. They got to hang on to players until they either needed to sell or the player was having such a good season they got offered ridiculous amounts of money for him. Either way they were more financially able to survive, they didn't need to sell players at the start of a season just in case, they were able to keep them long enough to get a decent amount of points on board before selling.}

I was thinking more of let's say now a days Southampton - started well, then a club like Sunderland comes in and takes their best player and they fail to get promotion where as now they're safe when the windows is s**t and managers don't have to worry about players moving on

it will be a huge mistake if we sell mereiles to chelsea and get benayoun back ....yossi had his chance is too old and it would be a step backward....dont do it kenny ...give raul a pay rise ffs

Sturridge plus money would be the deal. I hope, Kenny is not bringing back Yossi, as in this deal he is worth atleast 8m pounds.

Totally agree give him more money Cole is on twice his salary and is half the player

No offence but us give Chelsea money and Raul for Sturridge. Na,keep Raul but if worse comes to the worse. We'll take Sturridge and some money. I'm sure we paid about 12-13 mil a just over a year ago. After his season last season,and the technical and tactical knowhow he's showed this surely is price has gone up not down. Had miles better Stats re goals and assists then Modric and their willing to give Spurs 40mil. Head turner prob a bit of Torres who needs someone to supply him with an open goal or 2 and AVB, prob know each other with Porto connections. Who was the manager that sold Raul M? If it was AVB then he knows how good he is and if it wasn't,we know how good he is. Pay what he's worth,just a f***in head turning bid with no substance if i ever did see one. 7 mil and i guy we sold for 5 to them last year who's hardly played for em as much as i liked Benayoun. We aint the Liverpool of 12 months ago were we had to sell our one of our best players,buy Konchesky,and as much if not an even big an embarrassment that Luke Young turned us down. Dont know why they just dont sell Torres while they can get some decent money for him. P.S.G and Malaga would buy him given the chance i reckon. But anyhow, unless the Raul deal is right for Liverpool,do f***in one. Jonson6

Liverpool could be level with united and city at the top of the league with 9 points if we didn't blow it at
Sunderland on the opening weekend.

to all eds how far in your eyes do you see Liverpool behind city and united.

also do u think merlies will go to Chelsea

{Ed002's Note - It is very early in the season and I have no doubts that Liverpool will be fighting the European places come the end. Meireles may go.}

They'll lose and draw games too, it's early days, relax

30 Aug 2011 04:26:38
nothing to do with transfers but can anyone tell me why kenny was out of management for quite so long? cheers

Because he wanted the Liverpool job and was willing to to wait as long as it takes, finally the king is at his throne and his army are ready to create a new empire and take over the world.

After what happened at hillsborough kenny was so upset and stressed by it all he was having health problems...so he quit for a while

Cause he was giving a chance for the mancs to catch, now hes back to demolish them

Its hard to put into words as only Kenny knows and it would be churlish for me to attempt to speak for him..I'm sure someone could quote him on things he has said but it's understandable Hillsborough had a major affect on him. He attended many of the funerals and was the public face of the club's sorrow. A major cross to bare. I do feel him returning is some kind of catharsis as the club has never been the same since he left.. in terms of values etc. Does that help? Not sure it does. Its a tough question. I think if Kenny puts us back where we belong it will put to rest a few demons for him and many other connected with the club. I think the current players might feel this too. Its all about playing for the shirt again which is fantastic to see. And how it should be. Loved it when I saw him touching the sign. also have a feeling of the promote from within could be resurrected, kinda like the old boot room philosophy. Steve Clarke groomed for next manager anyone?

Does Chelsea have any real interest in Meireles or is it just paper talk cause he played under AVB before? Cheers.

AVB joined Porto June last year, Mierles left to join Liverpool under 2 months later, with season over/holidays I doubt they saw much of each other

Plus raul said that as soon as he found out of serious intrest from lfc he told he's agent "he wants to go now" from the man mouth. so AVB and the board prob just let him go seeing as the money was right and the player wanted to go.

30 Aug 2011 03:16:21
I just wanted to point out what a good job Enrique has done since coming to the club. A lot was asked of him to be plugged into the starting lineup the day after signing. While he has not done anything prolific, he had done exactly what we need which is to lock down the left side of the field... Something no one has done at the club since Riise (even though he was really good at kicking the ball into our own net). Sorry Jack Robinson, but your best bet for PT is going to be Carling Cup games.

Define prolific?.. you have to take it in context..as left backs go I think that's not too far off. He is simply quality. 6m..what a steal. he brings more than tracking back. He is amazingly skilful for a defender.

Hi Ed, any news about us signing Marc Jefruogac?

Am I the only one who is irritated by people asking about obscure players? Why cant people understand that there are only so many players in a squad and there is only so much money in the bank? If there are 'rumors' or 'whispers' posted linking us with 45 players, probability dictates 94% of those rumors are lies.

30 Aug 2011 01:30:12
if we could get these players in this transfer window our team could be sorted for the next 3 years
- coates 20 cb replacing jamie in the long run
- mauro zarate 24 ss/wf replacing ngog
- afellay 25 r or lw /am to sort out our right wing

with ngog, poulsen, degen and cole leaving would be great. bellamy and benny are good but we need to move on. afellay or benny? zarate or bellamy? agree or disagree?

30 Aug 2011 01:22:41
We should tell Chelsea they can have mereiles, and we will give a few milion extra in exchange for sturridge. Use the money from the ngog sale to go after moussa sissokho. Not sure we have enough time to negotiate these deals though. EL P

Hi Eds err could I ask About merirles people are sayin we turned down a 8 mill plus yossi and there is rumours starting now that we will put late bids in for kaka and adam johnson cud u clear this up for me please
{Ed001's Note - his agent has been shopping him around, but I have been away for a friend's wedding since Thursday and have not been in contact with people to be up to date.}

Hope this is just agents tactics and papertalk as miereles is sheer class, Johnson would be close to our best signing oc summer if it happens, think kaka is dreamland, no way he wouldn't be part of a cl squad this

29 Aug 2011 23:57:55
Let's get this straight, if yossi has been given permission to talk to other clubs then he will not be used in any player plus cash deals, so stop all the rubbish about meireles

29 Aug 2011 23:51:20
Next game up is Stoke away who are a hardworking mid-table team similar to Bolton.
Stoke fc strength is when the ball is in the "Air!"
Simple really same script as against Bolton,
Slick pass and move when were in possession, work like hell from front to back to win the ball back when they've got it.
All things being equal, luck,referee decisions only one outcome another 3pts.
kidmillions

Great in theory but stoke are alot tougher than Bolton certainly at the Britannia, there v good at stopping opposition playing but like you think we will have enough to get the 3 points

would love a clean sheet aswell, was gutted for our defence and pepe on Saturday, didn't help that the missus is a Bolton fan!!

I think we might see more of Andy in that game.

29 Aug 2011 23:46:27
If Meirless leaves this will weaken the squad and a replacement would be needed what do you think ed {Ed001's Note - not sure why, personally I think we have already replaced him.}

And who replaced alberto because meireles replaced masch

If we can get Affelay, I think Meireles will bw well and truely replaced. Wish we can, but seems very unlikely. I hope, either Meireles stays or we are getting Affelay. Though Meireles can be replaced by Henderson. As adam has already replaced Aquilani. :)

29 Aug 2011 23:43:26
Eds I have to ask you and need an honest answer , if we had a choice between Johnson and affelay who would you rather if only one could come , I know I like both of them but I think affelay would just take my vote , the guy is just absolutely amazing to watch , please post this on rumours to see what the real red fans and the eds opinions would be , love this site BTW , have to charge my phone 3 times a day to keep me on here , look forward to see everyone's opinion

Mcberkan more like - pmsl, fancy a chavski fan coming on here with his arse in his hand tellin us to 'calm down' when it's obviously you that needs to relax Unless you really are AVB or RA the decision is not down to you the fans who the club buys and sells, it's down to your manager - oops sorry i almost forgot - has Roman stopped dictating who he wants in the squad anymore and going out and buying them against the managers wishes??? LMAO
You might have Romans billions for now till he realises Chelski will never have the level of support or pride that we have and you cant buy 5 gold stars or 18 league championship titles!!!!!!!!!!

29 Aug 2011 23:38:46
this has to be piss take 7m plus Benayoun for Meireles. Consider Sturridge plus cash and maybe then it could be considered especially when you consider they want 40m for moderate modric

29 Aug 2011 23:33:03
With Coates' representatives expected to arrive in Liverpool any time tonight, could it be likely that the deal is published to the website in the coming hours?
Cheers, Scouserlewy

29 Aug 2011 23:32:12
I hearing many of tomorrows papers are claimimg,
Liverpool have refused a 7m offer from Chelsea. I hope, if its true, we refuse them unless they offer us at least 50m. You may think i'm mad ,but he is a class act and he can play a big part in helping us having a successful season.
Chelsea would benifit greatly having him in their side. we should not assist any big rival, UNLESS WE TRULY BENIFIT from such a transaction.
It's been like a closing down sale lately. regarding the sales of our players. Lets get tough when selling and even tougher when buying.

I hope we sign Coates, he looks like a really good prospect. KB

For who poulson?

29 Aug 2011 23:30:00
Will be absolutely fuming if Liverpool accept the cash plus Benayoun offer for Meireles. Serious step backwards in my opinion. Also looks like Bellamy is now staying at City.

City don't want him, he will move on

Depends on how much cash we're talking. £20 mil plus, then maybe KK will think about it. Raul is a good player, but once Stevie is fit it's difficult to see where Meireles will get a game.
Milamber

29 Aug 2011 23:21:36
the daily mail & telegraph reporting lfc have rejected a bid of £7-£8m + benayoun for meirales, i personally hope we keep hold of him, unless chelsea came back with the same cash offer + kalou then put the cash towards a good bid for adam johnson from citeh & with the signing of coates aswell we are looking like a good competative squad again with a load of depth.
