I reckon he may sign one or two players simply because when the media or whoever asks him about what he said about signing nobody he can say I lied just like you lot (the media) do all the time.

My 12 year old son has just signed for LFC I know this for a fact because I was told by Carlos Tevez who was conducting his medical. I was slightly concerned until Fernando Torres passed him fit. Can Macca or Eds confirm? {Ed010's Note - It's late so I will wait to call my contacts at melwood}

"30 Jan 2012 16:09:51 LFC sign young reserve keeper Danny Ward. Wow bet Prem defences are sh.....g themselves.

Muzmacol YNWA"

Yeah i bet you they were sh....g themselves when city bought hart for £600,000 from Shrewsbury..

Expect movement tomorrow, kenny has been playing his cards close to his chest so far.

DJ

These are the posts i find hardest to ignore. We've been through this Muzmacol, why can't this kid be a great keeper??, so what if he's from a lower league club, tell me exactly why this is bad and i'll f*****g well listen to you, but until then, go away.

A friend of mine works in garage on East Lancs Road , just served DC , asked about Tevez.Was told to watch SSN around 3.00pm. MUST BE TEVEZ SURELY ?

I don't think Liverpool would advertise Ssn for people, given their clear bias approach

I think it is time that we, all LFC fans should imbrace the mediocre times that we have ahead of us. There is no way that this club will ever reach top 4, not with the current squad we have. KK has pent 100m on what can only be described as absolute bolloks. Enrique aside, the other new recruits wouldnt make it into the current top 4 reserve squads.

It's with a heavy heart that is say this, but after painfully watching the game on sat (yes we did win against a depleted manu side, but it was painful to watch), and KK still advocating that AC has a big role to play in LFC future, that we will never be competing for a title anytime soon. This hoofball mentality we watched on sat evening was deplorable, WTF this is not the 80's. Caroll couldn't read play it if were signposted to him, so we just yank it dowm the park and hope for the best. If all his faith in is Caroll, then all my faith has been lost.

Don't get me wrong, i will still wholeheartedly support LFC, but i will no longer kid myself that we will be challenging for a title, nor looking at ever playing champions league, at least not until the current regime changes, or the current regime realises and accepts what monumental mistakes they have made and rectify them (getting rid of the mediocre brittish talent they brought in and gettin some real, world class talent.)

I get behind my team, i support it wholeheartedly. But i remember last year when Roy was at the helm, no-one gave him time, no-one supported his mistakes. What happended to get behind your team and manger no matter what, or is it ok to be selective on this proposition. No we werent doing well. But we aren't doing all that great in the league at the moment either. (screw the cups, Everton, Stoke, Porstmouth and Cardiff have all been on the finals of the last 4 FA cups, so it doesnt take a mighty team to get there.) 100m in investment later and were drawing at home to bottom of the table sides, and losing away to the team that were up until last week, LAST.

Someone has to be accountable. And this argument that we are a work in progress. Sure if we were actually progressing. We are not scoring goals, and what is KK view on this, we are not going to bring anyone in because we beleive in AC. The only thon i beleive in AC is that he is quite possibly the worst player in the EPL i have ever seen. He Can't dribble, He's slow, cant read play, doesnt know how to move into space, hes lazy. i could go on. And yet KK sees him as our future. Well, like i started off earlier, LFC welcome to MEDIOCRITY....

LFC69
{Ed010's Note - what a ray of sunshine you are}

Feel like throwing myself in front of a bus, after reading your post LFC69. If i'm not back in 20 mins Ed010, call the pesident mate, thanks.

Lmfao at ed! Just what I was thinking... Wouldn't want to get stuck in a lift with him!

One word fanny of a boy.

Scottybhoy1888

Last I heard, Andy was part of our team so don't go on lying about how you support your team wholeheartedly you doom merchant.

LIVERPRES

Are you Roy Hodgsons son? This is probably the most miserable post I have ever read. All you talk about is doom and gloom then you say we didn't get behind roy, make your mind up what you want. Football is all about kidding ourselves, when asked if we will win every weekend I always say yes with great belief that we will. That is why we support our teams,ups and downs, joy and despair. But if it made me feel like you I would seriously think of picking another sport.

Gally

Oh God LFC69 had a panic mental breakdown just like all the media when kenny said no signings.

Dude if u seriously think that LFC is mediocrity i think its because of the mediocre fans like like u who always press panic button like u. My suggestion is go support s**tty or chelski, they will buy all so called Worldclass players u want and melt down the club in next 10 years, I rather wait for few years and see LFC of 70's and 80's again.

Or support Everton and learn the true meaning of mediocrity.

Hi i'm thinking about coming to live in Merseyside and am seriously considering the ''Wirral''. I believe property there is quite expensive and was wondering if the Eds could give me any advice on finding well paid gainful employment.Cheers, Carlos. {Ed010's Note - google.com}

There is a big house for sale in Woolton that might suit. Believe it belonged to some Spanish guy before.....

Yep there's a barn-door at the Woolton place too. Strangely, it's fully intact.

Kenny said we wont be signing anybody.. do you think its true ed?, or do you think hes just saying it so people dont get there hopes up that we will definately sign somebody

30 Jan 2012 22:40:31
suarez for the match ball against spurs.

30 Jan 2012 22:42:28
Spurs now favourites for marin! Could be a great signing for them. Pity coz we looked like we were in pole position not long ago! Hope KK and comolli make some effort to sign him, could add the width and flair that we need!
John h

They were always the favourites to sign Marin

Honestly, he's a great player in the making, but maybe not exactly what we need, we have players that can receive the ball in a wide position and cut in. I'd like to see an old fashioned winger, beat a man or two then whip in a nice cross, nice to have a bit of variety i think.

Red7.

I thinks he's hopeless.

Liverpool has already concluded their January transfer when kk transfer the team from being a laughing stock against Bolton to beating the 1st and the 2nd in the league in a few days.
Next thing kk will be buying is a bigger size toe cap boot just encase any of the players thinking about taking it easy again.
That will conclude the January transfer.

Would anyone welcome torres back? I know i cant see him re signing this season, but maybe in a year or two? I would welcome him back.

Yeah, a year or two he should be in peak form even if he's not scoring as many as he has done this season.

30 Jan 2012 20:55:50
Can someone shed some light on the new LFC set up ?

I am under the impression that FSG has adopted the US model of a Director of Football(General Manager) and Manager(Head Coach) where DC is in charge of the day to day running of the club including the Academy, Scouts, Support and Admin Staff and Transfers etc and KD is responsible for the 1st team squad affairs (training/selection etc)

Is this correct ?

If so, it all makes sense now why Kenny keeps saying he has nothing to do with the Academy nor does he know about their dealings ?

KD can request players to be signed but ultimately the decision and negotiations are left with DC.
I think it is bullS**T that KD gets the final say and no deal can be done without his signature or approval as some people think.

I think KD is frustrated with this set up and does not like the way DC leaves all his deals to the last minute as part of his negotiation tactics.

Finally who has the final say on which Academy players get signed or go on loan ? KD ? DC ? McPharland ?

Donlt get me wrong I respect DC, I believe he has uncovered some gems in the past for Arsenal/Spurs/St Etienne and for us Bellamy/Suarez/Hendo/Coates and the sale of Torres and purchase of Carroll.
I think Adam was signed on KD's request.

I know this is a rumour page, but most of the time I come on here for the utter garbage that people put on here. I mean I once heard someone seeing Darren Bent meeting with Kenny even though at the same time he was playing for villa. These idiots do contribute to making this site legendary...but I do feel sorry for the eds especially Ed002 he seems to be the one more prone to the idiots on here. Anyways like stated by many, the Eds do a great job and one day.. just one..they should be knighted by the queen.

Hoping for a surprise signing tomorrow.

30 Jan 2012 23:11:37
I think Kenny is being unfairly slated on here. Sadly, vegetables on the street think they know more than him. Even before he was reinstated as manager he was at football matches week in and week out. I firmly believe he knows exactly where the team is weak. January is a tough window to buy in anyway. We have our own fairly strict transfer policy, we don't have CL football and prices are inflated.

I'm fairly certain KD and co have been working their arses off to bring people in. But do you really think Kenny would come out and tell you about all the transfer targets we're trying to sign or failed to bring in? It's disrespectful to the player's current club and you run the risk of another team gazumping you or getting involved just to increase the transfer fee. Look around at other clubs, none of them are making big signings. £220 odd million was spent last year but only about a tenth of that has been spent this year.

Getting fourth is going to be tough but it's even tougher if fans aren't behind the team. So let's do our part and support them and have faith that the summer window will be more fruitful. We're moving in the right direction so just be patient.

Eds and Macca, thanks for sharing what you know. The majority of us are extremely grateful!

30 Jan 2012 23:09:13
We are signing no one, very disappointed red fan tonight.
We can forget C/L football next season, I just can't understand the decision it doesn't make sense.

Don't talk like a child !! last year in january 2 players cost us 50 odd million quid because your taking clubs best players away half way through a season, after spending over a hundred million in the last 2 windows we shouldn't need to sign anyone,

30 Jan 2012 23:07:57
hi fellow transferes peoples ha ha posted earlier on rumours got a bit mixed up.love this site ed's tevez and a top right winga ......red blancmonge.

30 Jan 2012 23:05:15

I dont think we will sign anyone but if you read what Kenny said he said "in whats remaining of the transfare window" so has there already been deals done? not rumour no knowledge just an observation

just me!

30 Jan 2012 23:02:08
hi eds , we are all thinkig and hoping the same thng , will e sign anyone and who will thi player be , for methough kenny has got us what we hae neded in the past , like a very good left back ( enrique ) , and for the last ew seasons we have needed a proper right winger , kuyt has played there but his goals clouded over the fact that hardley no crosses came in , with andy carrol in the team we need both sides of the pitch to put crosses in for him , downing on the left but theres no one on the right , and maybe we will get the right wnger we need , i dont know that many myself , but would you think that if we get anyone then it wil be a right winger instead of a striker or a def-mid , 24 hours to go , everyone will know by then

30 Jan 2012 23:01:11
no signings this window no champions league rumours of summer marque signings will be just that rumours we need need more firepower for 4th place or better

I heard Kenny was going to buy a Delorian, get it to 88 mph then go to 1979 and sign himself.

30 Jan 2012 22:45:58
Match on telly here at the moment, Stoke vs Sunderland from what looks like last season. Should sign this young Henderson lad, looks a good player, they've just said a few clubs are looking at him too.

Yeah and isn't alex ferguson a big admirer?! He could be a future england international for years to come that henderson and good passer of the ball and runs his socks off!! Did you know that in the 2010/11 season he was 4th highest in the assists table for that season. Sign him up! £16million should do it! Bargin for a future england regular!!

30 Jan 2012 22:44:37
I would quite happily take Fernando Torres back :)

Why is Nando's ex-girlfriend posting on a LFC site?

personally (just an opinion) i think kenny has something up his sleeve tomoro dont know who it will be but i think we need to just cos carrol had a good game doesnt mean he will always be good just look at the time he scored 2 against city and we all got our hopes up. somethings going on if kk wanted the game moved to wednesday who thought we'd sign carrol last year and mierles was going to chelsea

Eds how reliable is the bleacher report site?

Cheers

Paul {Ed001's Note - not very mate, it is just a blog site written by various posters, so it is only as accurate as the writer. The site itself is as reliable as Twitter, it is the person who wrote it that you need to look for.}

ALOT MORE RELIABLE THEN THE EDS!!

Just another amnonymous cretin taking a dig at the Ed's.

30 Jan 2012 22:18:35
I think the kings comments today have made it pretty clear we aren't in for anybody, usually he does seem to humour the press and a lot people will now probably say his comment is a deliberate "smokescreen" but I think he was pretty serious and don't expect any activity, bit gutted really as I think we could have done with a winger and striker even if it was a loan deal to help us push for champions league spot to enable us the chance to sign top level players in the summer. On the plus side we are 1 game away from the return of Suarez!

Everything KK says is sincere and honest... expect banter, so I think we can be pretty sure that unless Comoli causes an anomoli no new players will be on the new Fifa 12 update...expect perhaps the young Tex.

30 Jan 2012 22:15:40
Silly season 2moro I expect. I always watch ssn until midnight, but this year I am working till midnight. Will just switch on my phone and see all the signings from all the teams all in one go, maybe all in the same sentence.
I am expecting the quietest window for a long time.
hoping for a striker, right winger and a defence mid for Liverpool like but I imagine we will be getting them in the summer. Our team is strong enough for top 4 despite what some doom mongers think, we may as well use our money in the summer when our targets will more than likely be cheaper and more willing to join us.

MIKEY

30 Jan 2012 22:14:54
It's been (so far !) about the quietest transfer window I can remember for a good while.
Notwithstanding the Euro's coming this Summer and the wishes of prospective players to avoid undue change, are we possibly seeing the first effects of the FFP kicking in ?
As fans, we'd all like more and more. But good sense prevailing is no bad thing either.
The January transfer window is accepted as offering poorer value for clubs buying in players. Will the FFP cause a re-alignment of transfer fees, or kill off the kind of frenzied activity we've seen in the past ?
The Real KB
ps if Andy Carroll gets his arse in gear, that would be like one major new signing. And we've got the maestro back next week too. Both of these would go some way for any lack if new faces.

It's got that bad now KB mate, Davey Jones (Sky sports) is being sent to report from Goodison tomorrow. lol

I really think giving Tevez to Liverpool on loan would be good business for both clubs for 3 reasons.

1. We still have to play there biggest rivals for the league Spurs ,Man U,Chelsea and Arsenal.
2. We Don't play City again this season.
3. He could do the business for us in the Cup Competitions and push us to a top 4 place.

Swimboy66

If he was on loan he wouldn't be allowed to play anyway

30 Jan 2012 22:06:58
smoke screen or not. how many of you would love to see teves at the club? I personally would. he may think he's too big for his boots but the guy scores goals. probably just the only guy to realise mancinI is a kid with an ant farm and a magnifying glass. I really reckon he'd settle at anfield and help us right up the table. I'm not saying never til the dead line end's. believable if you want him.

30 Jan 2012 22:04:34
Isn't it funny the wy all the Mancs have been on here saying how they should of won cos they had more of the ball?

Yet when we dominate games and don't win they still show up telling us that hving all the possesion doesn't win games and we should learn to put the ball in the net.

KT! {Ed016's Note - They were pathetic, they didn't look dangerous at all, they had possesion because we were exhausted, another factor why they should have won, do not worry, after seeing the real holes in their team there will be many more years of it to come unless SAF steals some more hot prospects}

Do you get trouble with Utd & Liverpool fans over there ed016 ?
The Real KB {Ed016's Note - over where? not really, I hate people from Manchester and as we know most United fans aren't from there}

You're based in N America or Canada aren't you ?
Does that translate over there ?
Mind you, there was a distinct lack of scouse accents where I was sitting this last couple of games. Even a couple of young lads from Norway. (Don't laugh, any Everton fans reading.
Mind you, I really admire their enthusiasm. And money !
The Real KB {Ed016's Note - I moved over from Liverpool when I was 16, so I am based here but plan on moving back after uni. Yeah I will always have a distain for united and manchester}

Good luck with that ed016.

Danny

Just a thought....that 'team full of holes' has been missing key players through injury yet still lies 16 points ahead of Liverpool in the Prem...

Btw, I for one dont think United deserved the win. We didnt have enough cutting edge despite all the possession. A draw would have been fair IMO but fair play to Liverpool for taking their chances

Gav (United) {Ed010's Note - liverpool are in a transition phase this season whilst united are in the declining phase. It will be interesting what transpires in the summer }

Good one ed016.
You'll do for me mate.
The Real KB

30 Jan 2012 21:08:04
Ed...I also have misgivings about Tevez wearing a red shirt even though it's very unlikely. He's simply a mercenary. Having said that, he's give the side a new dimension and we do need that at the moment. I still worry that our form in the PL is still not competitive enough.

Hi! Have you heard anything about Sebastian Leto return? Do we have option to buy him back? This guy have 15 goals in 13 matches this season in Greece. Would like to see him here

I always thought he was a chance of making a really good footballer, Massive stride on the lad made it look like he was barely movin', but deceptively quick across the ground. Just never really clicked here. Think he's gone for good though...

Won't have to post too much of it ed, just be abuse at us not signing anyone i'd say.

Do u see anyone actually signing bar jaoa texiera? Or do u think kenny was being honest? Cheers ed
Kiwired {Ed001's Note - I am not sure, I know we wanted to sign more, but it has proved damn near impossible for every club this January. I am certainly not getting my hopes up.}

Do u think we will even try to sign someone or r we not gonna bother now? Cheers
Kiwired {Ed001's Note - I would seriously doubt that the club would ever stop trying, if there is even a suggestion that one of the targets were available, well the club would be on it like a shot.}

30 Jan 2012 21:18:43
these rumours are so fecked up its unbelievable

30 Jan 2012 21:18:41
I first want to start off by saying Im not expecting Cavani or Lavezzi to join. But I don't think that a player choosing or not choosing to come to LFC is based only on Champ League. A player could decide to leave for other circumstances. In the case of these two I could see them leaving Napoli because of the recent crimes that have been committed against them. Them being target by the mob and all. If I didn't feel safe in a city I live I would consider moving even if it is to someone without CL.
Also I think people are being a little delusional about LFC having to have CL to attract top talent. There are legitimately 6 top teams fighting for 4 CL spots who all have world class players. That means this year maybe Liverpool and Arsenal wont make top 4, maybe next season its Chelsea or Tott. I think people need to open their eyes and understand that there's no more top 4 and each year we could see a new top 4 each season. I think as long as we are competing and progressing each year. That our fans, stadium, owners and coaches are more than enough to bring someone in even if we were out of CL for that year. Ed's thoughts?
{Ed016's Note - I am pressed for time, other people will comment too. But money is not what everyone wants in the game, some people play for the game. Liverpool is still very much a big club, massive world wide appeal and everyone dreams of playing infront of a crowd like Anfield, some players get addicted to that kind of emotion, I am hoping we do not see more incidents like Gary Speed, but there is a trend here in North America of top atheletes commiting suicide after their playing days, it goes to show they are human and need more than just money, it can not always make you happy.}

im a man utd fan and think that so called king kenny should step aside as we played u off park at weeekend and yes u got lucky with goals but we had all the possesion. always in our shadow

Are you kidding? shadow? learn your football history you fool.

You did s*it all with your possesion

Yawn!
Always in your shadow? We've just stepped in to the shade for a rest mate as the sun has burn us quite abit after all those years.

Now the Kings bck Fergie is running scared.

KT!

Ha what's the matter Liverpool got you worried with who they might sign? You mug go back to your own page & worry about your own team you joke. ha I'm proper laughing here at the fact you wrote what you did you sound like a 5 year old kid! Get to bed & p.s your out the FA CUP. Night night

Alsky

You lost 2-1 get over it

BW

And whos in the fifth round ? possesion means zip , you hit the post and scored and that was it reina had a quite game . get over it mate , you'll be able to concentrate on thursday nights now .

trev d

Why would a man utd fan who thinks kenny aint 'upto it' want him to step aside...hmmm

We played city off the park in league and lost. Its all about taking your chances, or having something that resembles a goalkeeper to try and stop the ball.

So let me get this right - you think Kenny should resign because we beat you even though you had more possession?

Ha ha ha ha lol. You could write what the average United fan knows about football on the back of a stamp.

JRG

Taking your chances win games not possesion!
LeeWils

Yawn...

Yeah, we didn't play particularly well
And you're right, you had more of the ball.

Makes it even sweeter that you had no creative spark and apart from Enrique's mistake didn't trouble Reina once.

You should just be grateful we didn't play well and only beat you 2-1

Joe

We let you have that possession mate, because the KING knew you'd do nothing with it, why run ourselves ragged when we know there's no danger?, then get the eyes on for the last 30 and take you apart!
We don't get the 11 minutes of stoppage time every week to score like you lads, so we've got to use a few tactics to win matches.

30 Jan 2012 21:40:19
why dont we give youth a chance raheem sterling deserves a chance cos he is brilliant and owen and gerrard were given chances at his age

Not physically ready...I'd say some time next season when the lad has put on a few pounds, along with Morgan, Suso and Coady will all get a look at. It's too risky with early career injuries or playing too much and then becoming a sick note ie. Jack Wilshere, Theo Wallcott, Owen etc.

30 Jan 2012 21:39:01
heres one for everyone!!!
why dont we go for cisse? looks like he going to qpr but i always thought he did ok and didnt get a fair chance at liverpool plus he had 2 really bad injuries at liverpool

In the words of the Churchill dog...Oh no no no

Cos he's too old and not very good anymore

Why? he scored double figures in both seasons he was with us yet had 2 potential career threatning injuries, he wouldnt cost much either and would be a decent addition in my opinion

REALLY bad injuries.... Yuck!!
Between his and Henrik Larsson's leg... I shudder...

But really, gettin' on a bit these days.

Basel midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri after Zenit St Petersburg's latest bid was rejected.

Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be a fan of the 20-year-old playmaker but has so far rejected the chance to bid for the talent's services.

Zenit have waited until the final few days of the January transfer window to lodge their bid of £8m, which the Swiss top-flight side have immediately rebuffed.

Basel are holding out for at least £14m but Zenit are preparing to test their resolve with a follow up bid of £10.5m in cash with a number of performance-based extras.

------------------

Would be a steal at that price in todays market, ticks all the boxes for us and cheap wages..

BigD

He is quick and that is it. he is not a team player and would not fit in with the pass and move tactics that we do

30 Jan 2012 21:34:46
Well it looks like we're not gonna buy anybody in this window. This I think will be a good thing, as if by some chance we do qualify for the champions league it will completely change the face of the transfer window in the summer, as in who we sign and who we can afford to sign.

30 Jan 2012 21:30:26
I think it is a big mistake not signing anyone big in Jan (if what Kenny said is true). Maybe we've agreed some deals for the summer; any ideas? I've heard that we're signing a Swedish and Welsh keeper who plays at Wrexham, about 99% done. Hope we sign both Texeiras, they sound really promising, and João Texeira scored a great goal against us.

Just so everyone is aware (if anyone was bothered that is) that I won't be using the name Rewflo anymore.

The person who decided to steal my i d can keep it, i won't sign my posts anymore then it can't happen again. Disappointed and probably sound like a baby but the other guy posts some stupid and embarrassing stuff, i post whatever info i get and told everyone about the possible loan for coutinho even before macca, I've shared many bits of info and always truthfully.

Enjoy being rewflo, you must be the toilet guy since you enjoy stealing s**t.

Rewflo - for the last time

So what will be your sign off mate? How about Smokescreen?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I wouldn't do that I thought that the Eds have sorted and banned the person - Rewflo (McMenemy) {Ed001's Note - their IP address either changes or it is multiple people doing it.}

How do you think i feel?

So what will you be signing off as now the poster formerly known as rewflo i dont understand why any 1 would want to steal your sign off name unless there is jealousy involved oh well as the saying goes small things please small minds leave them with it they'l after get there kicks some other way now

Hi Eds your doing a great job

Everyone guessing who we are going to sign are forgetting one thing!!

We have a new player chomping at the bit to finish the season on a high, someone who has finally had a little time resting and is ready.

Now big ANDY is beginning to show his aggression its a perfect time to unleash our new signing for the second part of the season, the one and only

@ Chris in Tamworth. Defoe and Bent are not good enough for Liverpool FC. If you don't think Carroll is much good,wow where scraping the Barrel if you think either of those two are gonna take us anywhere special. I thought I sulked when someone disagreed with me but that's pure arrogance to suggest just because another person,in this case Ed016 dont rate either,their not upto the job,wow thought your 'source' had Bent would've been signed,sealed and delivered by now.

Jonson
----------------------
Jonson, I wasn't being arrogant, I was simply stating my opinion that anyone who can't see the qualities that Bent and Defoe have then I question their football knowledge. If you want to compare either of them with Carroll then I'll have to start questioning your knowledge too. Ok, Defoe may not be viable due to his age but on goalscoring ability both of them knock Carroll into a cocked hat. Don't believe me? Check the stats

Chris in Tamworth {Ed016's Note - They are both over rated crap}

Neither Bent nor Defoe are quality. Never have been and never will be. RED LENIN {Ed001's Note - I am fully with you, Bent is a decent target man for a small team to build around but no more. Defoe is barely even average.}

Ed016, I can agree with you that they're both over-rated, but I wouldn't say they're crap, otherwise they wouldn't have been Premiership players for the past 5+ years, scoring close to 1 in 2 over that time.

I'm not saying either of them are the answer to our problems in front of goal, but we need another option up top.

RedSG

I can see a fued happening again.
Ed, get some buckets to dampen the flames.

KT!

Red SG you call them overrated then give stats of 1 in 2. Please tell me what more you want from a goalscorer? Same question to Ed016

Chris in Tamworth

Ed if there both over rated crap what is andy Carroll?a strikers main attribute ultimately has to be scoring goals and bent is a proven goal scorer in the league, to call him over rated crap and not comment on carroll is slightly strange.RedTurk {Ed016's Note - Underrated and young}

Bent has no composure or first touch he never has had!!
LeeWils

Very educated response Ed (and incorrect) but please give me your highly superior footballing opinion of Andy Carroll

Chris in Tamworth {Ed016's Note - You can use the search engine. I'm not going to go into an argument about it. What is the point? neither of those two players are going to sign for us. Carrol plays for us, support him. If not there is a club that loves to have a bitch just down the road! get on your bike and stop acting like a blue nose, I'm a Liverpool fan, I respect Liverpool fans, you dont seem to.}

You utter child. I thought I was on here to discuss football your response was pathetic. Your football knowledge is obviously seriously lacking. Would like to debate some issues with you but I can see exactly how that would work so I'll not waste any more of my time

Chris in Tamworth
{Ed016's Note - When you have to go through 71 posts, you get a little short wired, I will have a response with you after the window closes, untill then there is a lot to sift through, I know you can search and see my responses to other Carrol questions, I have answered a lot. But post again in february and I am sure we can have a chat about all the stats and why I disagree and vice versa.}

Fair enough Ed I'm liable to get a little tetchy too at times so apologies. To be honest I don't suppose you need me bleating on when there's only a day of the window left, you'll obviously have plenty on your plate

Chris in Tamworth {Ed010's Note - No worries Chris <3 }

Chris,i respect your opinion on a lot of football issue's. But their is a reason why both Bent's best club he was at was Spurs when they were gash ane hardly played and Defoe has been a,let's say peripheral figure in the last couple of years when they've done well. That's because their just not top echelon player's. Not saying their bad, but not exactly pass and move merchant themselves. A criticism that's been leveled at Carroll. They couldn't trap a bag of cement between them.
At least Carroll's game is improving and he wants to play for us. Bent and Defoe's learning curve is done and dusted. I'd start supporting one of our own because i will tell you I told you so.
RedTurk,no comment.

Jonson

Hey Eds and fellow reds!
Just want to say i've thoroughly enjoyed reading the Ed's comments and what all our fans have to say. I'm going away for a few weeks (health reasons) but hopefully i'll come back recovered. And hopefully during that time, we'll have worked our way up the table a bit. Some big matches coming up, so let's keep the faith and cheer our lads on! And hopefully by the end of Feb, we'll have won the carling cup and will be in the quarter final of the FA cup.
Cheers guys,
Dale B

{Ed016's Note - All the best mate, I am glad you enjoyed it. You'll never walk alone. Wish you a speedy and easy recovery.}

I'll let you know when you come back Dale, if we signed this guy 'Smokescreen'. He sounds like a Transformer to me, not a footballer. lol

All the best mate, YNWA.

Hope it's nothing serious get well soon, DES

Hi fellow reds and eds. This isnt about any rumours. Kenny has just confirmed that liverpool will not make any signings and already so many reds are condemning him for not signing anyone. Well thats because he has great faith in his players, even if they are not performing as we expect. And to add to that fans are criticising him for wasting the summer funds on players who dont seem to perform. Let me get this clear to all fans:
1. Man city did splash huge funds and in the beginning they didnt make it to europe. After a seasons progress they finally made it last season. We are a rank better than them, we have the possibility of winning trophies even if we dont make it to europe(which we will eventually)
2. U may argue about signings such as carroll and henderson where kenny could have bought better player. But do remember that these players are still young and have great potential.
3. Kenny trusts his players more than anyone else. (just see his support for suarez) Carroll might look a lost player, but u can see the fire in him to impress us. In fact he could even be doing it for kenny. These players might be big stars one day, but they will definitely remember the faith placed on them by the manager and the club(lucas springs to mind)
To make it short, kenny is breeding Liverpool players and not just world class players (see wat happened to tevez, adebayor, robinho and many more)
One day we will have a squad full of gerrards and carraghers and lucas who will wear the jersey with pride.

30 Jan 2012 19:25:10
Ed002. Run with the rumours, whoever you get asked about, or maybe just one improbable signing. Reply with ' I've heard he is en route to melwood'. Let's see how big a frenzy you can make. It would ruin your websites credibilty but it would be worth it for a day. No need to post this!

Djjj {Ed016's Note - I do not really worry about credibility, the Ed's here give educated answers. I think people would call us out if I were to lie about the credibility of a fantasy post, would rather not lie to my own fans unlike a few other transfer sites out there.}

30 Jan 2012 20:01:27
Why can't we just trust King Kenny... I'm sure he has a plan and I KNOW he is the best man for the job. Wouldnt it be nice to win 2 cup titles and secure 4th place with the players we already have? And what a boost for the confidence for the players already here. I think nothing would be better for the club!! YNWA {Ed016's Note - I would love that this season, I would be happy with any silverware. All these impatient kids demanding the title this year was depressing to see. I just want to see Liverpool win things, its what football is all about, you should go into a competition and want to win, no matter how big or small. Rafa didnt take the cups in England seriously, he did win the FA cup however but that was with the strongest Liverpool team I have seen in my life, not down to the desire to have the cup run}

30 Jan 2012 20:01:21
All these people ITK that claim smokescreens, it's amazing the media haven't picked up on it! Personally I'm expecting the worst (or best, whatever) in that only these 2 goalkeepers will sign and Doni will go. Have a sneaky feeling that Tevez might join on loan but only if we pay full wages which IMO would be a waste, absolute mercenary.
DropDeadRed {Ed016's Note - The media believe it. We saw last year all the denial of players being sold or brought it. I do not claim a smokescreen after thinking about it all day, however you just never know with Liverpool, the transfer team do not let stuff leak.}

30 Jan 2012 19:58:27

The FA have awarded yesterday's FA Cup tie to Manchester United, accepting Patrice Evra's claim (after the referee had blown for full time) that his team had in fact scored at least ten goals and not just one. The fact that no players, supporters or officials, nor TV cameras were able to confirm the other ten or more goals, did not mean that Mr. Evra's claim was false. When interviewed (through an amateur interpreter) immediately after the game, the accused Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina admitted conceding one goal. This damning confession was enough to convince the FA panel that he must have conceded the other ten or more as claimed by Mr. Evra. The FA found Mr. Evra to be a very convincing witness on account of the fact that he is such a lovely bloke, has never been in trouble before, and claims to be fluent in several languages. Mr. Reina's testimony on the other hand was found to be totally unreliable in that he is Spanish (and we all know what they are like) and spoke mainly in Spanish through an interpreter. As Mr. Reina had admitted to conceding one goal, the FA panel concluded that the probability was that he had conceded more than one. Mr. Evra would not have been so adamant if he hadn't. The FA has therefore settled on Manchester United winning by a margin of 7 goals to 2 as the true final score. Pepe Reina and Liverpool Football Club have the right to appeal the score within the next 24 hours, but not overturn the defeat. If they do decide to appeal and lose the appeal, they will be immediately kicked out of all FA competitions for the next 50 years

Very clever

Brilliant.

Funny.

Can't believe how many people come on here and get on Macca's back!! If you don't like what he's got to say or you don't believe him then ignore him and allow those who choose to believe him and look forward to hearing from him to carry on. His inside knowledge cannot be questioned! Ok, some of the players he has said we wanted to sign have not signed, but that doesn't mean his information was incorrect, it means the situation for one of a million reasons has changed!! And if we do make a big signing tomorrow then I still won't question him because unless he's John Henry he's not going to no everything happening at the club. For all the information you give us Macca, regarding the situation at the club, players and transfers I thank you!

So not looking like we're gonna do any business this window, this means we're not gonna get 4th spot, in the summer that means were not gonna attract the type of player that we need to make progress,not happy at all. :(

30 Jan 2012 19:02:07
Regarding Tevez, I first thought it could never happen but it is important to remember that he is a genuinely world class player and, when fit and focused, probably the best striker in the premiership if not the world. With this in mind, why not take him for six months at 200000 a week. It would amount to around 6million in wages for a guy who would shoot us into the champions league whereupon we would have any amount of top class players to pick from at more reasonable wages i.e Higuain, Cavani, Pato, or, if all sides agree, sign Tevez up permanently (having had him on a loan to buy deal). 6million in wages could buy us 30 odd million in Champions League money and the invaluable higher profile. Him and Suarez could complement each other. City would have him off their books so they would be happy. I don't see the problem. Plus he never gets injured, unlike Torres and Tevez last year was Player of the Year in my opinion. Darren Bent and the like would be a stop gap signing, nothing more. We'd win the title next year with Tevez in the side.

Hugh Pugh.

Yes I defo agree Hugh, at first it makes no sense cus he's a bad egg and we could never afford his wages. But looking at it again, it does tick a lot of boxes having him on short loan..
Problem is there's so many if's tho. If he gets fit (he's been doing naff all in Argieland for past month), If he actually wants to come (he probably wouldnt have to move house even), If the other players (mostly Stevie) would be happy with him having much bigger wages, if he is respectful to Kenny and is happy under his man-management, If his awful advisors would let it happen without themselves getting some dodgy bonuses, If City would go and sanction it, If we'd pay full wages (most likely), If presidents and arab leaders from Milan and PSG don't mess about or bid a full amount, and most importantly, If he has the passion and desire to play (without Mancini around he would I reckon, like Bellers).
City should see that he'll score against Mancs, Spurs etc and it could help them win the title this yr. And if come summer, he's done the business and he'd have to accept a wages cut then at £25m he'd be a quality signing, tell Maxi to have a word with him. It just seems a massive ask for it to all happen tomorrow, gotta have faith tho.

so just a quick look at what is happening...no major signing...kk said no new players coming and mc carthy telling that kk wants the match to be postpone for transfer activities!!
doni leaving for brasil...leaving number 32(tevez)...
i think 26 goals in 22 appearances...i think kk knows that we need a striker...and they are going either to land the top of strikers or just let this window pass hoping caroll will come to some good...caroll is good but will take many more matches ...

Some players not many but some are out there for the game not the money, from the way Hazard plays thats how I see him. Definately not within the next day or I will eat my shoes. Not going to happen, just not in Europe and would unsettle him before a big international tournament

Although Cavani may be better than Carroll, I'd prefer us not to sign him. Hope we stick with Carroll and keep playing him. {Ed016's Note - Agreed, he needs a run with suarez and bellamy now}

If we'd signed the twelve disciples then we would have had:

St Andrew=St. James=St Philip=StJohn=

And Judas Iscariot would have been on the bench had we not sold him to chelsea for 50 million. But then we didn't sign these guys either did we...

There will be no signings in Jan 2012, just accept it an move on. We need some cover it's true, but KK has spent a lot of money since last Jan and there was very little chance of of any major signings.

I don't know who Macca is and I don't know how genuine his info is. If he does get info from people closely connected to the club, its possible he only gets snippets of details and its possible sometime his info he receives could be made up. It is possible his info is based on Liverpoolfc scouting activity. which he has knowledge of and it becomes guess work.

But it's rumour site and Macca just adds to the fun. he sometimes gets it right and sometimes gets it wrong. but it does not matter its a free site, so don't expect to much and don't give the dude any stick. He's under no obligation to give info out even its true. KK and Co have obviously run a very tight ship and things have have got more hush hush, son real info is for the men in black. So why you feel he will deliver genuine info every time is baffling.

RED Bleep

What people fail to appreciate - especially younger ones - is that just because a player wishes to leave a club and go to Liverpool and in turn Liverpool are actively persuing him and want to buy him, does not mean that it will happen. McGeady is an example of that. He was days away from Liverpool - had even changed his agent to an English one in readiness and where is he now? Moscow. And why? Because the transfer out of Babel to Birmingham fell through at the last minute. RED LENIN

fulham signing russian striker...maybe a replacement for dempsey. think dempsey could make a real difference and take pressure off AC.

If we don't sign anyone i will be disappointed but at the same time as Macca stated we could not get the players we wanted, so an example: we wanted Cavani but could not get him so we signed Fletcher instead big difference in quality and i d rather wait till the summer than rush into another expensive signing i don't want another Carroll...

Am i right to say KK came out at around 4pm and tell the media that LFC will not be signing anyone in the next 24hrs? That still leaves us 8 hrs to sign players. Sorry Eds i could not help myself.

Bosco

Your right there! But we might have already signed some one.

I think the players we brought in January/summer last year are good enough to carry on this season and clinch a top four spot, I now have a little bit of faith in Andy carroll but would welcome a move to bring in Carlos Tevez for the rest of the season on loan to push us on, Eds to you think there is any possibility at all that we may be hearing of Carlos Tevez coming our way tomorrow evening? It would be amazing, I have my fingers crossed

ive just watched the kenny interview were he says we wont be signing anyone , did you people not see him smiling after he said it , kenny said when he took over the managers job , that things will be done the old liverpool way we will only find out about a player we have signed when he has actually signed the dotted line , so when kenny says theres no players signing this window its because they are most probably working out terms or the players having a medical , or something else thats stopped the player signing like a work permit , then thats when kenny will say we have signed someone , kenny could not hide his smile when asked the transfer question , he is just sticking with what he said when he 1st took the job , the old liverpool way , thats how we get the best players , because know one knows what we are doing ,,,,,,,,,,,,mickyb

Eds (or anyone), does Damien Comolli still have links with St. Etienne? If so (or even if he doesn't), have we shown any interest in their teenage defender, Kurt Zouma? Hi Edds do you think there will be any senior signings?
Many people are talking about a smoke screen would that actually happen?
Why would they do that?! {Ed001's Note - I don't believe there are any smoke screens, it is just that it has proven extremely difficult to sign the players we want in January.}

we never know what kk's up to! who knew anything about caroll etc last year? it came out of the blue! there will be 1 or 2 big signings!!!!!!

30 Jan 2012 18:40:41
am i the only one who thinks henderson looks like a really decent player? just struggling with confidence and needs to get a bit stronger which will both come in time..

downing hasn't set the world alight but i think at £20M with the year he was having looked a decent buy

and also it was basically chelsea who set carroll's price tag at £35M

I feel that these boys are feeling the pressure of playing for liverpool and once they realise they are good enough and have the support of the fans they will start performing to their best ability. If people keep saying they aren't good enough then how is that going to help them. These are the players who are playing for LFC right now so deal with it, if you want us to start climbing the table get behind them and support them.

This is football not poker you can't just throw 3 players away and get 3 more hoping they will be better.

Gman

On of the best posts today.

What people seem to forget is we got shot of 2 players that didnt want to play for us and bought 2 that did without spending a penny . i think if all the people on here stopped moaning and got behind the team a bit more you would see how good they are

Very well said Gman, couldnt of put it better myself m8..

RED4lifeNOTjust4XMAS

I've said this before on here, that Henderson reminds me of a young Ronny Whelan in his first season. We've seen glimpses of his vision and passing, he can tackle and can shoot. The difference is that Whelan came into a team full of experience and confidence, whereas Henderson has come into a team struggling with confidence and playing with 2-3 other new recruits. I'm sure that as the team gains confidence (which comes with winning games), Henderson's ability will make him a stand-out player.

People need to stop and accept what kenny has said, they also need to stop reading too much into wanting the game moved, it has nothing to do with transfers

30 Jan 2012 18:35:42
We must strengthen our squad or we won't get top 4 this season! Yes we have some quality in our squad but we need natural width and a striker that's prolific!! I trust kenny 100% but let's get back where we belong at the top of league..Y.N.W.A

Balaclavas and a couple of assault rifles usually do the trick.

I dunno, but if you get them there is this sure fire way to win her over completely. All it involves is a box of popcorn, scissors and a lot of patience.

First things first, name me A smokescreen? Whoever came up with that, bloody hell....

As for transfers, if a player who is of interest comes available at the right price/wages well move, if not we won't. Simple. I posted before after to speaking to stoke sources were close to a south American, he still seems adamant about it.

Not saying it'll happen, but he's fairly confident.

Have faith. If we sign no one, and once we've got rid of the deadwood in the summer, well be in a great position to pick up a marque signing, as our wage bill will b in a much better position.

Dalglish, Wenger, Redknapp, Boas and Ferguson all sitting in a pub. Wenger goes up to the bar, buys the first round. Boas buys the second, Redknapp buysthe third (via his accountant). Fergie buys the 4th and Kenny buys the 5th, but doesn't return with a drink for Fergie. "Where's mine?" Fergie asks, "Sorry" says Kenny"...." this is the 5th round and you're not in it...." lmao thought id share

It's even funnier that this was a United joke against City until the fourth round. At least old Whiskey nose has still got the Champion's League...... oops!

Jolly Red

30 Jan 2012 17:52:47
So lets look at the options.
1. Buy an average-decent player for 15m, get top four. Then in the summer people moan that we don't spend money get players XYZ because we spent in January.
2. Don't buy anyone, don't get top four. Get players in the summer and enjoy Europa league. Next season we get top 3/4 or higher as we invest in buying players when they have a chance to settle.
3. Buy an average to decent player for 15m, don't get top four. Every half-wit of an LFC fan writes all day about how KK is a shocking manager and that we waste money on average players.
4. Don't buy anyone, get top four. No money spent, more money spent on top players in the summer and everyone is pleased with Kenny for another season.

Looking at them I'd rather not spend and see where it gets us this season. Look at Carroll how much moaning there has been over the price, what if the player/s we bring in aren't instant success? Will we question Kenny's decision? Well, maybe not us that are actually supporting the team. We are in a cup final and still able to win another. Fourth is 6 points away and we have Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and United left to play. Some people are acting like we're 20 away with no hope...

Depressing with all this moaning about not signing anyone. The spam are surviving, that means we can easily.

I just love the banter the Ed's throw out on here, brilliant stuff!haha.

Regardless of whether we sign anyone or not, stand by your club would you, this isn't Footy Manager or Fifa! Next you'll be wanting to start a new season because we haven't signed the players you wanted, moronic posts left, right and centre!

The only thing you should be concerned with is Wolves away tomorrow, although the majority of you won't be there as you'll be starting that new season on Fifa! ;-) Try getting yourself to a game before you start trying to claim that seat next to Kenny...YNWA!

JayRed7, you are right m8, I am off to the airport now, do you think I will make the game from New Zealand?? Get a life, not everyone can attend games on a whim, live off Scotty road do ya?

30 Jan 2012 17:29:21
Guys, I know we are all disappointed but Kenny said NO! No smokescreen, no new signings ok.

What we all need to do now is get behind the team for the rest of the season! 4th place in the league is not gone or impossible! Let's have some belief in our boys fellow reds. Don't forget, Suarez is back in a couple of games so we have that to look forward to aswell as a Wembley final and maybe a 2nd one if we progress in the FA Cup.

Let's just get behind our boys. Let's to see what the summer brings

Take a few months off eds/macca......rest up for the flurry of rumours/questions etc that will come your way. And good job as always.

I for one will be fully supporting our boys no matter what!

30 Jan 2012 17:10:48
I am sorry 6 points off 4th is enough to strengthen the squad. Don't think we need to spend massive amounts but going out with a statement that we are not going to buy /sell is quite stupid. If he had said that the market was not right after the window closed I think people may have understood. Hope it is just a smokescreen though!

I understand the point but surely it's about the right player being available at the right time? If it meant we sign our first choices e.g. perhaps de Jong, Sissoko, etc... then it is worth it. Otherwise in a few months it means making more signings and wasting resources... unfortunately this is something that has happened far too much at our club hence the need to pay off so much "dead wood" in the summer.

Patience, trust in the management and a longer term view is needed.

The Truth Is Out There

If Spurs, Chelsea or Arsenal had knocked out Manchester City from the League Cup on a Wednesday evening and then four days later, shoved Manchester United out of the FA Cup, on a Saturday morning - what do we think the media story and babble would have been the last 40 hours?

How about;

" Ah, le master Msr. Wenger proves once again he is a true footballing God, with only Barcelona being worthy of his youthful tippy tappty tutti-putti soccer jiggling genius as he incredibly, unbelievably - knocks out City and United in just four days. Arsene, we are not worthy of writing your name in our newspaper ..."

Or,

" Oi Oi! Our Harry! Harry Redknapp, putting aside his Del Boy accounting, that makes a Tory MP look like an Archbishop, proves once again how lucky England will be! Oh, what a lovable cheeky chappy he is - and a footballing genius too, as he knocks out City and Utd whilst conducting interviews via his drivers side window! Alwigggght 'Arry!! What's the VAT date again? "

Or,

" The new Mourinho is simply not a great enough description of AVB. After all, he only inherited one of the most expensive squads in history, and he has to wear a scarf in a twirly stylee knot! How dahhling! But has still managed the impossible of knocking out City and Utd in just four days. Chelsea have such a wealth of footballing history... that has nothing to do with dodgy Russian mafia money. Oh no."

Wheras, in a strange hypocritical paradox, when Liverpool FC come back from a very poor 3-1 defeat, and return to knock out Manchester City and Man Utd - the media seem to;

(a) bring up stories that there is discontent with Dalglish behind the scenes and

(b) try to stir up rumours that Andy Carrol is being sold.

Isnt that a mystery? Isn't that a paradox?

So, just in case any journalists stumble on to here, the real story ladies and gentlemen is that;

1 - Liverpool, in just one year under Dalglish have risen from a terrible bunch of easy beats, to once again being a team that is feared. They are now in the Final of one competition and in the 5th Round of the FA Cup. Their League performance has seen a greatly improved defence - but not enough goals. Something that the addition of a top striker in the summer will solve for next season.

AND -

2 -that this turnaround in LFC's fortune has been done with a refreshing brand of pass and move football, that is still evolving - using a startlingly new young squad that is still nowhere near their peak age of performance (Suarez, Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Kelly, Agger, Coates, Coady, Spearing). As Gerrard and Carragher gradually move into being the loyal veterans, with a respect that money cannot buy, a new guard is emerging to take their place..

3. - that LFC knocked out City and Utd devoid of their two best outfield players in the past 12 months; Lucas Leiva, LFC's player of the year, key defensive midfielder in the squad, likely the future Captain of Brazil - and Luis Suarez, the most dynamic and explosive striker in Europe.

Even without these two, LFC have succeeded...

4 - The owners of LFC are businessmen. They know that the interest and love for LFC - and therefore its vaue as a brand, has been quadrupled in the last year. Dalglish has brought back a passion for the team and a proper style of football. He and the team, are loved again. (the idiots who attack players who have a bad game or three, are idiots. Not fans.)

But instead of telling this story of a remarkable turnaround over the past week - the media focus on rumour and controversey?

Isnt that strange?

Isnt that odd?

Isnt that a mystery?

If anyone knows the phone number for Mulder and Scully, must be time for a comeback..

The Truth Is Out There..

talksports.
Manchester United could still sign exciting Basel midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri after Zenit St Petersburg's latest bid was rejected.
United could benefit if Basel grow tired of the Russian club's haggling and make a bid of their own in the summer.

DON'T KNOW WHY LIVERPOOL NOT MAKE ANY BID. IN SUMMER HE WILL COST £15M FOR SURE.

I cant believe it either mate. I think he is a steal at that money. Just what we need.

Hey folks, can anybody let me know when suarez will b back? Shoud be soon right? I lost track of the number of games, thanks!:-)

Having him back will be almost like signing a worldclass player during this window. Haha

I was thinking- uruguay is clearly 1 of the emerging world football superpowers and how blessed are we that we actually have their best player!

He's definitely 1 of the world stars right now, probably juz a rung below messi, xavi and cristiano ronaldo.

And he wears the famous red!

Too many pessimists around, so somecody has to look at the bright side, right? Haha

We have the best uruguayan, the best english (gerrard), the best danish (agger), the best scot (adam), the best slovak (skrtel) and the best english rightback (kelly, not johnson haha).

Ok, enuf, sunshine. And no, I didn't have too much to drink or smoke.

I reckon we should wrap up a few deals before the close. If all the rumours are anything to go by we should have Tevez, Cavani, Torres and Ba signed. What a strikeforce - we could take the title, nevermind 4th place!!

30 Jan 2012 16:50:33
I honestly think Kenny has sat down with the owners, and they have said, no more funds for you (not that there isnt any available) you have spent 100 million to improve the team/squad (im not talking about what we have re-couped, im saying its been his decisions on who we spent it on) and his target was 4th when John Henry said it will "be a major disappointment" if liverpool didnt get the top 4 (i think they may have said, if you generate money from sales, then fair enough but we arent sanctioning any more funds...so as i say, i think they arent giving him anymore money now and seeing how he does on his original target - if he doesnt get it, i believe they will go for mourinho..i know its a strong opinion, and i know kenny lovers will try and shoot me for it, but I think the owners want success and will be ruthless if need be..just my opinion...

Cheers

Everything will be cool great site I think that's that for this window Carroll will hit the ground running now.I dnt think we need anyone else. Saurez back in one game. Ynwa

30 Jan 2012 16:23:54
Its madness if we dont get a winger and striker in as we will have no cl and we will have no chance of geting world class players in the summer. God know's when we will get back in the cl at this rate.
Ben irish

So if we do Ben Irish, will you please f*** off when the rest of us celebrate? Will you refrain from ever appear near the team and not bother going to games. We'd rather have someone chanting and supporting the team rather than complaining about not spending.

Some moaning pr!cks on here, if Kenny though there were suitable additions to be had then we would be going for them.

I gather from what Kenny has said we aren't interested in anybody who is available in January.

Kenny is doing a good job, I trust him to make the best decisions for my football club from the very smallest to the very biggest.

It's about time he recieved the respect he deserves from a lot of so call supporters.

S for your name calling you mindless moran, not everything that glitters is gold, bear that mind before praising kenny for absoloutely everything. We are the 6th lowest scorers in the league, and 7th in the league, and why? Because we dont score enough. Simple. So to criticise no purchase of a striker is actually fair.

KK has confirmed no players will be coming or going during this transfer window so I guess Eds can take the rest of the week off then......

30 Jan 2012 16:15:32
There's a good andy carroll parody account on twitter! Give it a look..... @Big_AndyCarroll

30 Jan 2012 16:10:39
Now lets see same commitment every game,Leauge or cup,till endve season!And hopefully KK doesnt have to resort to b ckings again.P.S.Brighton play good footy,will be no pushover.Same applies to Cardiff

30 Jan 2012 16:01:58
No ambiguity in his statement for me, so off for a cuppa and see what films are on and cross my fingers that there is a dramatic rise in the performances in the league of the players we have. I must say that I am not surprised as I already predicted this would happen. Slimboy

30 Jan 2012 16:00:45
In your very honest opinion do you believe Kenny or do you think its a smokescreen because Kenny never gives the media something to talk about?

Thanks

Mark {Ed002's Note - I really have no idea.}

30 Jan 2012 15:59:27
Dalglish playing a stormer. No transfers! What a double bluffer! Tevez and Torres to sign tonight. You heard it here first. Here. Right here. in the know. In the loop. In the boot room hiding under a mound of old black boots that nobody wants anymore listening to Kenny and Clarkey and Commoli chatting and smoking and drinking tea while they make the calls. thoughts Ed?

You forgot Mascherano on loan.

30 Jan 2012 15:54:19
Hi Ed's. If nobody buys tevez, would it be likely for man city to loan him out? {Ed001's Note - it will be difficult for them to loan him out once the window closes. I can't see it happening, they are happy to not pay him anything, why loan him out and have to cover a percentage of his wages?}

They will stick him in the reserves for 6 months, where he can learn some humility and respect, and deflate that mega ego of his. I wonder if anybody in the reserves speaks spanish.
He is a disgrace to football, and I am so glad we will not sign him.
5 years in England and still can't speak English, what does that say about his level of commitment.
He might be good but he is a ansolute ba*ker!

He won't even be allowed within 100yrds of the city complex.

Maybe he can ride his bike pass the stadium

Tevez can bike?

After KK has released the information regarding no players in or out of the club after the Tevez/Carrol story being posted all over the place I think you have to sit and think about exactly what was said. KK did not directly respond to the question when asked about this transfer, rather he just refered back to his original statement from the start of the talk about not buying anyone.

This is understandable as KK is not going to publicly state that he wants rid of Andy or any other player for that matter whilst admitting an interest in any potential targets could generate more interest from other parties.

Then I listen to the wolves boos mentioning about deadline day and transfer dealings and how Liverpool had asked to change the game schedule.

This is by no means conclusive evidence that Liverpool will buy or sell any players but for those of you clinging on to the hope of new players its a little somthing to grasp on to, and for everyone else who is happy to go with what the boss man says and trust in his judgement it is purely speculation.

Either way lets get behind KK and the team.

Not going to speculate about transfers as i have no idea. It does though, seem odd that no striker has been sought, we were lacking goals prior to suarez suspension. There is nothing to suggest that will improve when he returns. It will almost certainly cost us champions league.

Muzmacol YNWA

We didn't seek any striker replacement because Dalglish has faith in the players we have, Carroll starting to get some form, Suarez back against Spurs, Gerrard back and scoring goals. Our squad is more than good enough to get us 4th place, its up to the players now... One thing is clear, this summer will be huge, with the Warrior money amongst other deals we will have plenty of money to spend, we keep adding to our Academy which is great but in the summer we'll sign quality players to challenge for the league next season. 4th place is easily achievable, Chelsea and Arsenal are in the Champions League so they'll have extra games to play during the rest of the season, and Liverpool as always finish the season strong, i expect Chelsea and Arsenal to burn out a bit fatigue wise, their squads aren't as good as ours IMO. We have a final to play at Wembley, the confidence we'll get if we win that will push us forward... Keep the faith and give all your support

Rocky

I wouldnt expect arsenal to have many more games in the ch league with ac milan to come next i dont think they have much chance of making it through that but you never know i just dont feel arsenal are good enough for fourth and if we can find our form in front of goal it should be between us and chelsea we have them at our place i cant see them going unbeaten the rest of the year we just need that finishing touch to our play hopefully the last week will be a massive confidence boost to kick on and make the top 4

no january signings??

shocking........what the hell do liverpool think they are ?? in 3rd place with 2 points behind!!

no...we are last place when it comes to scoring or converting chances....we are weak attacking wise

oh yea we beat man city and man utd...but wolves will get a win or a draw in the next game....

so ill tell you guys now.....spurs cfc and arsenal..are miles miles ahead of us....we all know it

dont look at the points and think only 6 points behind....because we are not good enough to catch up

and with no signings now...is just abysmal

Oh STHU, mate!

30 Jan 2012 15:55:12
Get real people. To improve our team (not squad), we would need players at a pretty high level. If they aren't for sale or don't want to move, we can't buy them. Current squad are doing OK and given time, could be even better. Not saying I wouldn't like additions, just not at any cost.
If we sign a striker, I'll be over the moon, but only if he's better than what we have and only if the service to him gets better (which it will when Suarez returns).
DC and KK will be looking at all options. Neither are new to the game or without success. Have faith and patience. If they don't come now, they may in Summer. Give the boys some support, remember that a team with Gerrard, Lucas and Suarez would be doing much better and if Cavani walks in tomorrow night, great. If he stays in Napoli, great. If we win two cups, excellent. If we perform like we did at the Reebok again, hmmmm.

30 Jan 2012 15:32:09
Getting a bit sick of the moaning on here - I wish some of our fans would start supporting the current team and stop bad mouthing the squad...... we've conceded less than the 4 teams above us and only lost 5 games in the league all season! We are only 6 points off fourth spot and unlike any other premiership team we are still in both domestic trophys! All this with our main striker not playing well and our best player having being banned for 9 games and last seasons LFC player of the year out for the season! Look at some of the other signings made by other clubs in the last year or so.... Arteta, Torres, Chamakh, Mertersacker, Wickham, Park (Arsenal), We were linked with many of these if you cast your memory back........ not exactly setting the prem on fire are they

Exactly we have conceded less than most of teams above us!! yet we have scored less than them all above us and the teams at top have scored 20-30 goals more.... which is obvious where we need to strengthen!!! attack cos we dont score enough, every season we have same problem cos defence for years has always been 1 of best in league so why transfer window after transfer window dont we sign a proven goalscorer?? we need goals in our team and at min we havnt got them as our stts over the season show

Uhm...its not "we have only lost 5 games", its "we have already lost 5 games!!"

30 Jan 2012 15:16:10
Hi eds... Fair enough kd has said no transfers in or out but correct me if im wrong didnt he say this time last year fernando torres wasnt leaving? Sorry guys i agree with eds it could be a smoke screen, and we should believe theres no transfers at midnight tomorrow night.

Last year we basically had Suarez deal done, Torres wanted to leave and Chelsea offered £50m, people complain about Carroll, he's scored more goals than Torres and has been injured half of the time, both players now only starting to find some form... I think players the club are "really" interested in aren't available until the summer, why waste money in this window when we'll need to replace 4 senior players in the summer (Maxi, Kuyt, Aquilani and Joe Cole). I think Dalglish is right, Suarez is back against Spurs, he will be determined to get us 4th place now after his ban.

Rocky

30 Jan 2012 15:15:34
I have heard from sources close to the club that KD has plans to bring back Ronnie Whelan as midfield cover until the end of the season. A bit like SAF did with Scholesy.

You heard it here first !

30 Jan 2012 15:14:10
King Kenny said on Sky Sports News... No signing and nobody out :( I do have to say if he is telling the truth I am gutted!! We really need a right winger and a forward.. Big Andy, I think will come good.. He just needs time. But if we can't get them ball swinging in for him there is no point in him being on the pitch! Downing is playing like he should be in league one!!

Great job ed thanks

jim7sky

I wouldn't read too much in to what Kenny tells the press i doubt he'd tell that pack of liars the time of day never mind if the club will be signing anyone, and rightly so. Would you rather the King keep his cards close to his chest or be like Del Boy and be on Sky Spurs news ever hour, in fact it seems the only thing he doesn't discuss with the media is his dogs bank account lol.

On the plus side, Kenny's "We're not signing/letting anyone go" means we're not spending silly money on Bent or Defoe!! Every cloud... {Ed016's Note - true, would rather no one than them}

Sorry Ed016 if you can't see the qualities that Defoe and Bent have then I question your ability to be an Ed

Chris in Tamworth

@ Chris : you may be wright with Bent, but Defoe, honestly, far too old for our policy and no near good enough for us. {Ed001's Note - if Chris thinks that Defoe or Bent are good enough I have to fear for his idea of what makes a quality football player.}

I agree about Defoe ed, he's not a goalscorer, but Bent is one of the best goal poachers in the league. You have to admit he's got a good scoring record since leaving Spurs, he knows where the net is. He's good in the air, knows Downing's game better than anyone at the club and has the pace that Carroll lacks to expose the oppo defence when they play too high a line. Unless he gets injured he pretty much guarantees goals. Don't understand all the Bent negativity tbh

Now that King Kenny has come out and stated that there will be no players IN or OUT this window we can all quietly go back to our jobs and stop worrying about transfers.

30 Jan 2012 14:57:02
So Kenny say's no ins or out's

How i hate the Transfer window!

30 Jan 2012 14:56:22
It's official no players will be signing in this window, at least no first team player will be coming in or out so get on with your life's turn sky sports news off lol.

30 Jan 2012 14:50:18
And I see that Man City just put a 35M bid in for Cavani. And we still sit and hope that our players will suddenly bevome worldclass players and take us to CL. Get real,we are a midtable team tight now and thats the way the cookie crumbles.

Wow big surprise , we are not in the same market as Man City.

30 Jan 2012 14:54:41
King Kenny and Damion Comolli have allocated X amount to spend on strengthening the squad yet 2 good results on the back of several terrible results and their egos decide that what KK has got is good enough, GET A GRIP OUR SQUAD IS LACKING IN QUALITY!

Your Gray matter I clearly lacking in quality.

30 Jan 2012 14:48:11
Kenny has said NO senior players coming or going. That settles it. Leaves the door open for transfers of one or two youth players but no first teamers. This would ofcourse make the Eds statements true (ie. one or two transfers) and Kenny sticking to what he said at beginning of window. Only downside is that most of us expected someone with first team potential. Not going to happen so lets start the summer talk now. Kenny has been known to keep his cards close to his chest, but I haven't heard him openly lying before so I think that rules out 'big' transfers.

On the other hand, we just got Suarez back!

Tevez rumour has to be the most ridiculous of all. Please fellow Reds, don't lose sleep over this one for the next 48 hours.

30 Jan 2012 14:39:29
It seems we've been poised for quite a few loan moves this window, Any thoughts on why that would be eds?

No one coming or going according to KD!! Gutted!!
Thanks eds for your input:)

30 Jan 2012 14:38:11
Eds... cheers for taking time to reply everyday to the same old rumours...cavani...luuk de jong... etc must do your head in...
Anyway i read that bill Shankly once said to ian rush because he wasnt scoring.... that he better find his shooting boots because hes up for transfer and hes in the shop window (he wasnt up for transfer it was just to get him thinking and playing better (obviosly worked)
Maybe lfc "let" the tevez carrol rumour circulate around the papers to try and kickstart big andy carrols season??

liverpool set to sign 2 goalkeepers,danny ward a 19year old from wrexham for the academy and kristoffer nordfeldt a 22 year old norwegian goalkeeper, do u reckon the 22 year old norwegian is to replace doni? as he will be 2 old for the academy.

I've bin watching sky sports all day an the guy who talks about all the transfers has confirmed that Kenny has said no one will be arriving, but has said sky sources have told him I striker I due to arrive an anfield sometime today, he said we will keep u posted on what happens...

does comolli have a twin in mancland/italy at the same time ? and possibly an evil doppelganger in birmingham ?

30 Jan 2012 14:33:28
looks like "leg work" preparing for the summer has been the main focus this window.
following KK`s 2nd update that no-one is coming in or out ( senior/squad ).
although i feel it may be a little fib. :0)
keep up the good work ED`s.
PIDDY.

30 Jan 2012 14:32:14
I think King Kenny wouldn't turn down a good player being offered on the last day of the window.

Such as when Spurs took Rafael Van Der Vaart with hours/minutes till the window closed last year.

So who knows the right player gets offered I hope we'll be ready to take up the deal.

So players who are frozen out of their first teams are the most likely option I'd guess.

30 Jan 2012 14:42:45
Macca you've said we'll sign one striker but Kenny has come out and said that there won't be any signings so what do you say to that?

They clearly could not get the player they wanted..

Cheers

30 Jan 2012 14:30:18
i love kk to bits and want him to succeed, but if he honestly believes that we do not need anyone and he has faith in current squad, then i think he needs his head testing, that group of players has got us to 7th in league, we lost meireles and lucas, what exactly is hendersons position?, the poor lad is trying his best.
chelsea have a decent squad and they are 4th, so what do they do, buy players to ensure cl for next season.
the special one is returning to these shores next season, and if he was tasked of making liverpool great again would he, i think he would jump at the chance.
so come on kk, buy players that can make a difference. 2 cups and 4th place and city for league and europa that will do nicely.
also please do not get tevez, he is a joke 3 months without football he would not be fit, in my head i still think im fit, but reality check, i ran to train station last week, pulled my groin and stopped for a ciggy, walked the rest of the way.

30 Jan 2012 14:28:19
Hi all again,

I have a feeling that there will definitely be a signing, and one that is bigger and better than we all thought it would be.

Kenny answer:

He said: "There'll be nothing happening here in the transfer window, in or out.

"There's no need to ask any questions about transfers or speculation or anything else."

He seems to be quick to get away from the subject, and usually when asked about rumors he will make a joke, take the mickey out of the reporter etc etc. However as I said he was short and sharp, so that was why I doubted he was telling the truth.

Also, If Mick down at Wolves is telling the truth, then it could be game congestion, or something BIG happening.

Who knows,
Still awaiting and expecting

Burnsy

Stop dreaming. He said no senior transfers. Period. Only deals will be for youth players.

When he usually asked about transfers Burnsy mate. He usually says 'If we have something to say, the fans will be the 1st to know'. That's why i'm not holding my breath about tomorrow. I hope i'm wrong but I think Kenny is telling the truth.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Fair enough. Im not dreaming, just hoping.

Just another 20 hours or so and we come to the end of another ridiculous and unnecessary Transfer Window. A transfer should be allowed at any time if all parties are in agreement. Contrary to what many fans seem to think transfers are NOT compulsory during the Transfer Window. Only players who are going to IMPROVE the strength of a squad should be signed. What all Liverpool fans should also accept is that although most of us would have sold our souls to play for the club players outside don't always feel the same way. They prefer to play for (at the moment) more successful clubs, clubs that pay a higher wage, clubs that are situated in more attractive cities. I also believe (and I've written it before) that the future of Liverpool Football Club is in the hands (and feet) of our younger players. It will not be long before the likes of Suso, Morgan, Sterling, Coady, etc are playing themselves into the First Team. BE PATIENT!

30 Jan 2012 14:23:35
If we don't sign anybody, then so be it. It will not be the end of our season, we are in 1 cup final, through to the 5th round in another and still within touching distance of CL places. We still have Arsenal, Newcastle, Spurs & Chelsea to play (most at Anfield). We have Luis coming back, Bellamy in a good run of scoring form, Kuyt should now get confidence and of course Gerrard controlling the midfield. I still think Andy will come good before the end of the season and I think that Jordan will score at least another 2 goals this season (injury permitting). Jose Enrique is quality but he needs to work on his weaker foot accuracy, Adam is finding his range of passing, Spearing will be fit within the next few weeks. That only leaves Lucas who will be out for most of the remaining fixtures if not them all.

Why has kk apparently tried 2 postpone game with wolves 2mora because it clashed with transfer deadline day

More like cus its our third game in 6 days you looney

30 Jan 2012 14:21:20
in all fairness months ago comolli stated we wouldnt be doing muchbusiness in january as we had signed a lot of players in the summer and we wante to see how it went with them first. he was clear about this. dalglish also mentioned we wouldnt be busy this january.

i have a sneaking feeling keny will be moved back upstairs at the end of the seaon and none other than jose mourinho brought in in his stead, lots of rumbles that he s wanting back to the premier league next season. i think since his battles ith rafa and liverpool he has a lot of respect for liverpool and i think its one of maybe four jobs in england open to him. city who wont swap mancinin if they win the league, fergie who isnt stepping down for three years leaving us and spurs. with harry likely to be next england manager spurs is a big possibility also but i vee always had a sneaking suspiscio that mourinho admires liverpool

If Mourinho comes Im getting rid of my season ticket.

Earth to NUMPTY...Jose will NEVER be a possibility for LFC...which is actually a good thing from our perspective as he is overhyped, has far too big an ego and is more interested in self-promotion then anything else. The minute there is any type of crisis, he will bail--his CV clearly supports this.

Anyway, Jose will only consider teams with a BIG budget so, that rules us out. As I said, that's a blessing because it is never a good thing when the 'star' of the show is the manager...and not the team as a collective.

And what about Chelsea?? stop dreaming bra

If your getting rid of it il take it off your hands cheers

A large section of liverpool fans should be disgusted with themselves for the way they booed Evra. What was he guilty of? reporting racial abuse he received. I would like to see the FA come down very hard on Liverpool for this, as well as the comments KD made about it after, such ignorance when these issues need to be dealt with. {Ed019's Note - Players get booed all the time. You want Gerrard to get a round of applause from Old Trafford? Not going to happen. Some arsenal fans even boo their own players when they're losing-booing happens all the time}

What a terrible response from ED, should take your responsibility of running this more seriously.

Its not an issue for me booing a player who dived or a former player, but basically the liverpool crowd were condoning the actions of suarez who racially abused another player. It is pathetic to boo a player for reporting racism...get a grip people, some things are more important than football and rivalries, racism is a massive issue and actions like this encourage it, you even saw some parents shouting abuse at evra with their kids as evra took throw ins...nothing short of disgusting . {Ed019's Note - You don't understand mate-and it looks like you never will. Liverpool fans do not believe that Suarez is a racist, and the reason we booed is because we believe that Evra is a ****. Nearly all Liverpool are not racist and are against racism, the same with every football club. Just because one fan can be racist doesn't mean that they all are}

This joker's not really worth responding to Ed, must be difficult for someone of such obvious limited intellect to understand the realities of life at a football match. More to be pitied...
Milamber

You could always go running to the United page and tell them what you have posted on here and all the nasty things Ed019 has posted in reply, and hope that one of them can come up with something witty and imaginative in response to help support you ludicrous argument that our club should be punished for booing Evra.

Oh wait a minute you already have.

JRG

You complain about evra being booed at anfield because fans think he lied. But you dont complain about suarez being booed at EVERY stadium because of something that can't be proved. Talk about logic.

Mick mccarthy said on ssn that liverpool wanted to change the game from tuesday to wednesday due to transfer deadline. Now why would kk want that if he had no plans to sign any players? Kk is up to his old tricks imo. What u think eds?
Jayo

What Mick didn't tell us, is when we asked for the game to be put back? We could have asked for the game to be rearranged to a Wednesday, after we seen the fixture list. We probably just wanted to give ourselves the option, if we did want to buy someone on deadline day.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

It is probably an excuse to try and give the team an extra 24-hours to recover from two gruelling games in succession.

JRG

Yeh but they could of suggest it a while ago

I heard this, but i didnt hear it was cause of the transfer deadline? Maybe your jus reading into it too much and maybe, its whats already been stated that if we play 2mora its 3 games in 6 days, 2 of which were against Utd and City, 2 days rest isnt exactly much between 2 games

As I thought would happen, no signing in the January Transfer window. It's a false economy to sign a player when we have nothing new to fight for. We will be in Europe, but which Competition will depend how well the Summer money can be spent. I do think it will be about shirt sales (As well as Squad improvement), not for profits but for profile. For £25m I think Warrior will want the profile that a big signing will bring.

My money would be on a New number 10 (CF or AM). Not sure who, but will definately be high profile.

We are a Business now and smart business suggests that creating a buzz around your product when looking at new territories is essential.

I also expect a American purchase, most probably Brek Shea, to compliment our American Tour, and with the added bonus of being a player in a position which we need strengthening.

Next Year will be about CL qualification, not title winning. That is expected to come at some point, but CL is just as valuable commercially as the Title. For the next couple of Years we can compete with Man C spending, but look at Chelsea and you'll see at some point it has to stop, if we build sensibly for a couple of years we will be ready for when the money runs out.

30 Jan 2012 14:13:36
Mick Mc Carthy said Liverpool asked him if they would postpone tomorrows game until wednesday because it clashed with deadline day, so why would Kenny want this if he says there will be no signings, i dont believe him!

Liverpool asked wolves to move there game to Wednesday, maybe there is something that could happen tomorrow regarding a transfer.

Or they want 24 hours extra rest after the cup games ?

There you go everyone wanted to hear Kenny's response to Carroll rumour hitting the media
All managers have their pre- match interviews today, some chose to discuss transfers others blank the media on the subject and just want to discuss the forthcoming game only

100% smokescreen - can just tell with smiles on kenny's face

I still think we are trying to sign players to improve the squad but it is not that easy when you pick up the phone and start with the words "hello this is Lfc and we want to enquire about xxxxxxx"
Other clubs know Lfc recent dealings and reputation for paying big bucks and know the owners have funds
Players want big wages or are not sure where Lfc are heading

As the eds mention it is not that easy to compete deals in Jan but I am sure we have tried our best to strength

Leam Red

Kenny is know as joker and i too have noticed the smile on his face at the end of the questions

30 Jan 2012 14:09:47
Delglish hates people asking him about transfer rumers, it's just a con so he can dodge the questions... I'm convinced Liverpool will sign someone on deadline day... Wouldn't be surprised to see a couple more transfer requests...

Eds/macca,

when fergie says united will not make any signings, I don't pay attention because half the time its crap. But I'm not sure what to make on Kenny saying this. From past experience, would you believe him?

redkenyan {Ed019's Note - I remember him saying that Torres wouldn't leave last year-and look what happened}

30 Jan 2012 14:08:41
I'm still going to wait for the smokescreen announcement and that we have signed
Cavani. If it happens I'm going to get his
name tattooed on my love-trunchon, what the
hell, since there's enough space I get his whole
name tattooed: Edinson Roberto Cavani Gómez
Liverpool fc.

Your mrs told me you can only fit the initials on it,when aroused!

30 Jan 2012 14:06:27
what a load of rubbish this site is...ed only ever says "i dont know", "im not aware", "not likely".
at the end of the day he doesn't have a clue, neither do the rest of us. some of these players we're being linked with on here are laughable, must make other fans think we're mugs if they stumbled across them.
not one signing has ever come true since ive been looking on here and i doubt one ever will.
never coming on here again! {Ed019's Note - Bye bye}

What a bafoon! This site isn't just a rumours site it's a FREE forum for all Liverpool fans to make a point mostly made up! But non the less they make this great site what it is! I think I speak for most in saying the Eds to a sterling job in answering even the most stupid of questions! So in general you don't like it here! Then please don't come again!

Runcorn Red!

Ed - you wasted a word there, one "Bye" would have been sufficient!

Iridh Red Dog

Lets ask the OP a question, the ed's know nothing, right? but yet when asked about a player, they tell you what teams are interested, who they are most likely to sign for, why they are/are not up for sale and how much the transfer could cost.
Example - Cavani - Utd, Chelsea, City are interested, Lazio want 50 mill euro's.
If you hadnt asked the Ed, would u have known that info? I very much doubt it. Not only that, when it does involve Liverpool, they tell you theres interest, they tell you we are/are not talkin to the team/player, they tell you how far advanced talks are.
Another Example - Texeira (the young one) Liverpool are close to signin him, but he's not for the first team, he's for reserves.
If you hadnt asked, would have known that? I doubt it.
Therefore, the Ed's do know something, they know more than me, you or most people that use this site.
They dont have to give up their free time, for an unpaid job, for nothin, especially to answer so many dappy questions, but yet, here they are, givin it up for the benefit of all LFC fans, so we can have some idea of what is happenin in and around our club and the footballing world, please, have some respect for these people, because without them, we wouldnt have such access to the club that we do. Not even the official LFC.tv forums have as much info as this.
I for one am thankful there is a site like this, where people give up their time so that i can come to day in day out and read so much about LFC, even if much of it is stuff that will never happen, after all, it is a RUMOUR site, not a 'definetly goin to happen' site.

Lucas Barrios off to Fulham.
D Cisse off to QPR to make way for Honda at Lazio.
Luc Castagignos gone on loan to Cesena.

Looks like Kenny is telling the truth - no ins or outs this window!

30 Jan 2012 14:06:03
Macca did say we will sign a striker sounded pretty positive,a glimmer of hope maybe.

Square tomato

30 Jan 2012 14:04:55
Tadic is available for €8 million looks a great player similar to hazard surely worth a risk at that price,also fulham after barrios! Whats going on? I know what Kenny said but he also said that babel was going nowhere and he was gone the next day!

30 Jan 2012 14:03:36
pls post on questions ed,

is Doni leaving? with the new goalkeeper arriving? or is it a fake rumour about the 22 YO goalkeeper? he just joined, I cant see a reason why Doni would be leaving? I just hope its not a sign that Pepe is leaving, id like him to stay for about the rest of his career. or when he somehow becomes a bad keeper.

Kaizer {Ed019's Note - Doni wants to go back to Brazil}

30 Jan 2012 14:03:30
gotta say im dissapointed ,we all know we need another striker ,im not gonna let it bother me that much,but i do think 4th place will b a step to far now none of our strikers are consistent goal scorers and apart from bellers theres no pace up front ,i think we may struggle a bit

30 Jan 2012 14:03:06
Guys you should all know by now Dalglish doesn't tell the media what they want to hear.

He isn't going to come out and say for instance "we are close to signing Defoe and Hernandez" he keeps his cards extremely close to his chest, it's very likely we will get a new addition to the squad tommorow.

Tom.

Nah he has said that to let the fans know,so we not as dissapointed tomoz wen the window shuts and we dnt sign no one!!

30 Jan 2012 14:02:19
Napoli has signed Mendi Kabine(27 years old striker).Maybe a replacement for Cavani?

30 Jan 2012 13:59:44
Well, KK himself has told the official website nothing happening.. So that's that then.. Finding it hard to believe myself as it's obvious we need that little something. So until the window slams shut, I'll keep hoping! I really think a Tevez loan would suit us great, puts him in the shop window and would help us no end.. Can't see it myself, but I have battered Google for transfer news, and there is too much! Al.

30 Jan 2012 13:59:25
Just on SSN Liverpool asked wolves to play the match with Liverpool on Wednesday night, so it would not hamper their transfer activity.

Paggsy

I reckon it was maybe an excuse for an extra 24hrs after the 2cup games... heres hoping tho ;0

scousehouse

30 Jan 2012 13:54:34
I really hope what Kenny said is just a smokescreen coz if it's true I think we can wave bye bye to any hopes of champions league football coz the current squad is simply not strong enough. And if we don't sign anyoneand don't beat wolves tomorrow there will be a lot of frustration leading to a lot of pressure heaped on Kenny. 34hrs to go interesting!

RedANT

30 Jan 2012 13:54:20
Hi ed and all, did anyone hear Mick mc carthy say Liverpool wanted to switch the game to Wednesday? Then he said that any teams looking to do last min deals would like the games played on Wednesday it was on sky sports. Cheers DES

I thought he said that ,wonder why that is

30 Jan 2012 13:51:12
Can't believe we are not bringing a striker, in this window? Everyone of us and our dogs know we need another striker. If we thought getting 4th place was hard, it will be nearly impossible, without another striker.

I really don't understand this?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

The way Arsenal back in top 4 it make me feel no more CL football next year for Liverpool. I think we will be no 6 if the team didn't add new player. we are weak in Wing and creative midfield. at least take loan but need a top class player in attack.

Unavailable, uninterested or unwilling?

Take your pick...

dmedly

Maybe I should have also put unaffordable?!

30 Jan 2012 13:51:09
To reach top 4 the average points over thlast 10 years has been 69, LFC need another 34 points to reach this from 16 games. Clearly gettable. We have a run of games starting at sunderland on March 10 of 9 games which we ought to win, the last two games are chelsea home and swansea away, again both winnable. We have wolves tonight, we should win. We have to play spurs and arsenal at home and MUFC away, as well as everton at home to be rescheduled. We should be able to reach 69 points, the highest points tally for 4th spot is 76 though, this would be tougher.

Unfortunately we are on course for the low 60 point mark, what "we ought to win" and what we actually win quite clearly this season is not going according to plan.

If you had looked at the teams we were playing through January without Saurez you would have thought we'd get maximum points but instead we failed quite badly.

Fingers crossed though, but unless we start taking our chances we really are relying on Chelsea and Arsenal to drop points.

dmedly

30 Jan 2012 13:48:35
I'd be most disappointed if we fail to sign anyone this transfer window, but, let's trust the King. So far we're in the 5th round of the FA cup, and the Carling Cup final. Although I must say, if we fail to make a signing tomorrow, then our champions league hopes are very slim in my opinion. Suarez back after tomorrow though, so isn't that just like a new signing?

Thanks all,
Hooch.

30 Jan 2012 13:46:51
I seem to recall that KK said that Torres was definately not for sale on this day last year!

30 Jan 2012 13:46:18
I have to say Im slightly confused by Kennys lack of activity in the transfer market this January.

Anybody can see we are crying out for a striker and/or winger but we are forgetting the one essential position that needs to be addressed more so than any other at the moment and that is a defensive midfielder.

Lucas is out and spearing is not gonna be match ready for a few more weeks and the imbalance their absence has caused in the middle of the park is not a joke...the fact we were forced to utilise Carragher in that role at the weekend should sound alarm bells.

I cannot believe for one minute that there is not a capable dm available on the market on at least a short term loan...theres just no excuse for not dipping into the market, its suicidal.

Why kenny feels we have the players to cope with this shortage is beyond me and it will shape our season more so than any lack of firepower or creativity.

I appreciate transfers are always more difficult in january especially just before the euros but I do have to question the judgement of a man that feels our squad is capable as it is when it clearly is not.

Leo

Looks like the earlier claims of Coutinho not wanting to leave Italy were a complete lie.. lets hope that KD is putting up a smokescreen for some big time players in the next 2 days.

Ed,

You seemed faily certain that "one of two new arrivals" would happen, and indeed you mentioned it a few times.

Whats your view now in the face of KK's assertion that nothing will happen in the window. {Ed019's Note - We will have to wait and see..}

He has said it will be done behind closed doors.....or in other words he is not going to say anything until a deal is done.

So when someone asks him 'are you looking to sign anyone' ( or X,Y or Z) he is going to say no even if the player is in contract talks. Once the player has signed the dotted line then he will open the door to show the world.

He is not arry who say to sly sports 'yeah we tried to sign the lad (messi), Barca wanted a little more than my dog Rosie valued him at but, that's football ain't it'.

Breaking news LFC announce a big deal LOOOOL

Liverpool FC continues to grow its partner portfolio with the announcement of a new partnership in Thailand with leading car-battery manufacturer 3K Battery.

The partnership will see the club working with 3K Battery to help raise their profile by engaging Liverpool FC's supporters throughout Thailand, where 3K Battery is based.

Established in 1986, 3K Battery is a leading manufacturer and the largest exporter of '3K' to over 70 countries. The company is listed on the Thailand Stock Exchange.

Thats all well and good but can any of them play up front or midfield ? Wish NESV

30 Jan 2012 13:36:20
Haven't seen what KK has said, but guessing he's said no new arrivals. Not surprised really, the club has looked to reduce expectations, and make no promises in order to avoid disappointments.

I still think we could bring in players on loan, as opposed to permanent deals. Krasic, Castangios(sp) could be potential arrivals (no sources just my opinion)

Whatever happens, I'll enjoy the match at Wolves tomorrow and hope to celebrate 3 points!

RedSG

30 Jan 2012 13:32:45
there will be no transfer activity for Liverpool, as Kenny stated that no senoir players will be coming in and out, that should keep people quiet.. but honestly expected a striker, winger and an att mid, to propel us to the top 4..

30 Jan 2012 13:32:31
Hey Eds, i must say i'm rather disappointed that no-one will be coming in this January. What would you yourself have liked to happen? Thanks {Ed019's Note - I would have liked for LFC to sign a player}

The boss expects no new additions to the first-team squad at Melwood before the window closes on Tuesday night.

He said: "There'll be nothing happening here in the transfer window, in or out.

"There's no need to ask any questions about transfers or speculation or anything else."

From the official site.

So that concludes our transfer business for this window. No Tevez or marin or barrios. What do you make of it EDs?

AJI {Ed019's Note - We will have to wait and see..}

Ed you seem pretty tight lipped

30 Jan 2012 13:05:15
From the King's mouth - No signings in or out - so lets get behind the squad we've got and believe we can get top 4! Are you guys trying to tell me that with Gerrard, Suarez, Bellamy, Carroll & Kuyt the goals aren't going to start flowing. Suarez and Gerrard could form as lethal a partnership as Gerrard & Torres did - In King Kenny We Trust - YNWA!!!

30 Jan 2012 13:04:42
So, what's happening with Marco Bueno?

30 Jan 2012 13:02:05
Kenny's statement- there will be NO-ONE in or out this month so say GOODBYE to 4th place,if this is the case and no-one comes in then it is an absolute JOKE. I can only think that money will be made available for the new manager in the summer

Alan50

30 Jan 2012 13:01:20
Kenny has said we won't sign anyone this window and I believe him. I think all our negotiations fell through. So expect some quality in the summer!
There again, when Suarez and Lucas come back, they'll be like 2 new world class signings.
Oh well Ed2, looks like you were wrong with 1 or 2 coming in.
Steve

30 Jan 2012 13:27:20
Hi Ed,
Surely one of the most established clubs in the world should have a dedicated right winger. With Downing struggling on the left, who will pump the ball into the box from the wing to secure the champions league spot we are targeting.
Is there any chance of a last minute move for a right winger and if so.....who is available and right for the job?
Does Marko Marin play on the right? {Ed019's Note - I think he plays on the left}

30 Jan 2012 13:26:58
think lpool will continue to get younger players from accross the world , and build up world class players for the future , it makes sense in the long-run and money-wise , also think we will see more of the younger players like sterling and coady get a few games or sub apps into matches , the summer will see a few older players out and a few major signing ................lfc

30 Jan 2012 13:26:14
I thought Kenny was aiming for Champions League? After his announcement I think we can say bye to that dream...

30 Jan 2012 13:26:03
So there you have it, from the horses mouth KK Himself " Nothing coming in or out." So Eds, you can all go home early now, And look forward to the summer...lol. TJ.

30 Jan 2012 13:25:35
Kenny Dalglish has again said that Liverpool will not sign og sell anyone in this window. do you think this is true ed's? or is he saying that just so media and other teams doesn't stick their nose in his business? i still hope we can sign one class striker!

hi eds
in light of dalglishs comments stating that there would be no signings before the end of the transfer window, i can't help but find myself feeling as if the club are resigning themselves to missing out on ucl qualification. do you still stand by your stance of expecting 'one or two' players in before the end of the window? or are we quite literally going to be signing noone?
cheers mik

30 Jan 2012 13:21:28
Oh well, no new signings.

Suarez back will be like a new signing though. The players we have already got have proved we can beat anyone. They just need to put absolutely everything into every game. Close down all teams when they're on the ball like we did man city! Even teams like Bolton.

4th here we come! Let's get behind the boys!

30 Jan 2012 13:20:56
Eds, are you just saying that we will see to keep people coming to the site? kenny said that we are not buying anyone so whats the point in visiting this site?

You probably knew and you want people to still visit the site, giving us false hope!

Andy

30 Jan 2012 13:20:49
Afternoon Eds,
I've noticed a bit of a trend on here recently and im really struggling to understand it. Why do people (most, but not all) seem to be so reluctant to believe what you Eds say, but they leap to the defence of every questionable source on twitter, taking their word for gospel? Personally, i dont take anything i hear seriously unless I've heard it from Macca or the Eds first.

just confuses me :/

30 Jan 2012 13:18:59
Hi eds,
any truth in roma and forientina bidding for kuyt.I like him he scores big goals and always gives everything would hate to see him go so late in the window.
Red- raj {Ed019's Note - No idea, I doubt he will want to leave now}

30 Jan 2012 13:16:41
The King has spoken. No new senior players coming in in Jan. I would have liked to see a right winger and a striker that could provide us more goals from open play! Oh well, let's focus on top four with what we have.

Good luck with that...sigh

30 Jan 2012 13:16:29
But what if?
Cavani comes to Kenny tomorrow
and says I want to play for LFC,
don't pay me any wages,
and I'll even play Napoli for me to come,
I'm all yours for free,
will Dalglish say noone in or out sorry?

Conspiracy lives on.

Grow up ya fool.

30 Jan 2012 13:16:02
Rumours that Kenny is trying to swap Carroll for Dele Adebola from Hull, Great deal if you ask me.

30 Jan 2012 13:14:54
Fellow Reds

In Fairness, since his return Kenny has been on about the way Liverpool's Business needs to be and will always be done behind closed doors. So don't you not think that he will not be disclosing anything to anyone especially if there are trying to tie up a late deal or two. Maybe He is being genuine but the way Kenny plays the media, I very much doubt it.

Cork Red....YNWA

Yea i think there will be some activity as Kenny knows like we all do we need a proven goalscorer, goals win matches.

1255 FOOTBALL: Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has stressed there will be no transfers in or out the club before the window closes. "There is no-one going in or out of the club before the transfer window closes," he said.

I feel like I got kicked on the stones lol.

Meh, I'll still be glued to SSN and LFC Rumours from 9am-12am...Messi might be spotted swimming the English Channel. :p

30 Jan 2012 13:12:16
That is that for 4th place.

Europa Football here we come.

I reckon the owners want to save their money to give it to Mourinho in the summer when KK moves upstairs.

I think the money wasted on SD, JH, CA & AC made the owners realise that KK doesn't know what to buy so better to just leave it as is.

Cup Double & 7th place is still a vast improvement a a pretty good season.!

Mark

Is this a joke?

Martin

Have a bit of respect Mark.

How is 7th place an improvement?? Its s**t...there's no bright side to 7th or 6th for that matter

30 Jan 2012 13:12:16
hey lfc fans...

well now i have just come online and read ppls statements that kenny said no transfer targets......

i guess we have to use what we have and the attackers have to work harder at scoring.........cos quite frankly we dont have a bloody choice now............

im a bit sad about it in a way.....but i also think lfc will spend atleast 50m..in the summer..

so what it comes down to is this........" will the players fight as hard against wolves...west brom fulham villa..sunderland..etc etc.....just like they do against the top teams"

Doubtfull...

30 Jan 2012 13:11:46
From the statement on the LFC website KK obviousy has faith in the current squad but do the fans

Will we qualify for the top 4?

Agree

Disagree?

Don't always believe what the managers say guys.. Managers have been saying for years that we're not doing anything... It doesn't mean they won't, If the players there looking at come available they will try to sign... I see some transfer requests coming in tomorrow...

30 Jan 2012 13:08:49
How Kenny Dalglish can be 'happy with the squad' when we're sitting 7th in the table and our scoring rate is one of the poorest in the league I will never know, a player is needed this window a bit of creativity or a clinical finisher is what we need.

But quality players just arent available in January unless you spend big

Yeah...but still...you'r a fool if you think the squad with its amazing goalscoring capability will reach top 4....I'm pissed with the news

30 Jan 2012 13:08:24
Unbeliveable if dalglish thinks we dont need any new signings.these yanks are as bad as the last lot.the carling cup is obviously good enough for them. Shocking.

30 Jan 2012 13:08:19
Eds, after Kennys comments about us not signing anyone, do you think that we actually wont sign anyone or is he just trying to play down all of the Tevez, Cavani, etc. rumours?

The conventional wisdom is that prices are inflated in january, however I would suggest (and the evidence supports me) that prices will be more inflated following Euro 2012 and bargains more difficult to come by. I am supporting our current squad to come good, but not sure about our transfer strategy.

30 Jan 2012 12:55:36
Very disappointment to seeing no have any senior players will sign in this transfer window. Chelsea already add some new players ( K D Brune alrdy at Chelsea medical checking ) however, liverpool still no have any signing instead we really need a striker and right winger. we really need a goalscorer. but KK still believe in Carroll. If liverpool have any players to injured again, then our Top 4 dream will totally gone.

30 Jan 2012 12:55:34
Why don't we put in a bid of £12-£15m for Xherdan Shaqiri, his club are willing to sell and Galatasaray have already had a bid rejected and now B.Munich have come in.

The Mirror columnist Oliver Holt is the son of Thomas Holt and actress Eileen Derbyshire who plays Emily Bishop in Coronation Street. Oliver Holt is nothing but a hypocrite. He's been sticking the knife into Liverpool from day one over the Suarez incident while stoically defending John Terry.

Here's a little indication for you on the severity of the incidents. The burden of proof required in a court of law is much more than is necessary in an FA kangaroo hearing. Suarez was investigated by the police, but the CPS thought the prospect of a conviction was negligible. In the Terry case, they think there is a highly probable case of conviction, hence the court case.

Negligible and highly probable, and Holt puts his eggs in the basket of the one the law deems more likely to have used racist abuse.

ok wanting tevezz makes absoulutely no sense. lets look at pros
-he can score
cons
-he hates the EPL
-his paycheck is horrendus
-his attitude toward things sucks
-he waants to go to eith milan or corinnthians and milan is a no go
-he is old for FSG policy
-and the list go's on and on. id be happy with him never being here at all.

30 Jan 2012 12:51:48
Only player coming in will be a striker, not sure who it will be but the players we linked with are Tevez, Cavani, Barrios and David Texeira. One of these will join, personally, I'd go for Tevez on loan with a view to buy because we will have nothing to lose. Cavani would be great as well but that seems the most unlikely. Tevez on loan, see how he settles and I'd be happy.

30 Jan 2012 12:46:44
KD had announced on lfc website that no new senior player will arrive or leave in this window. In my oppionion I think if he don't deliver a top four finish like the owners asked, he should be sacked. Ian Arye has said money is available but KD thinks he has a strong enough squad. I hope he proves me wrong. If it was last season we would all be screaming for Roy's head.

I just want to clear up this common misconception that every player that plays for 2 or 3 clubs is labelled a mercenary

I have supported Lfc for 35 years and seen many changes

If anything clubs and their owns are the mercenaries due to the money involved and the price of success

When was the last time a club offered a player a lifetime contract (3-5 years is the max) ?

How many times do clubs sign someone and then sell them before their contract ends ?

we all know most players only have a short window in the career where they have an opportunity to maximise their earnings - rarely see under 21 or over 30s pick up massive wages

If you only had 5 years left in your career and someone offered to Double your wages and your current employer could not promise you anything not even guarantee you a job - what would you do ?

The only people who are not mercenaries in this business are the fans !!
Are downing / Carroll / hendo / Adam mercenaries because they left their previous clubs in the search for money and glory ?

Maybe they can't offer someone a long term contract but setting a high buy out clause ensures they won't be going anywhere for a while (Hulk £83m).

Kenny dalglish confirms no senior players will arrive this month so were signing no one

30 Jan 2012 12:38:27
Liverpool fans hoping for a busy deadline day could be disappointed as Kenny Dalglish says there will be no Anfield arrivals or exits. "There'll be nothing happening here in the transfer window, in or out," says the Scot
Guess it put's that one to bed!

Let's see....umm KD was going to be asked possibly a huge amount of questions regarding the offer apparently made to City with Carroll and Tevez.

Now if I was KD, what is the quickest way to stop any questioning around this and any other rumours that are unfolding?? That's right to say what he said.

I am not saying I know anything or if we will sign someone but that has stopped the media getting on top of him with questions and could be seen a smart move so they can continue with any moves they may be looking to make without being subject of media coverage.

30 Jan 2012 12:38:10
is it just me or are people forgetting what a troubling player a player Carlos kick a ball Tevez could prove to be? Yes he is good and Liverpool city is beautiful in many ways but not so different (i hate to say it) from manchester in terms of location, weather, lack of sun, surf and beautiful restaurants...at least in terms of how Carlos Tevez will surely see it.

He went on live air and ridiculed manchester as a city etc etc, i think he would get lynched if he said those things about liverpool

Ed, do you agree with me that in the summer are targets in summer shoud be a passing, creative tempo CM and a fast quaility winger, a poacher to if we are unsuccessful in january? I think downing is a good squad player but not consistant enough and lacking an end product and we are lacking an alonso/modric midfielder as gerrard and adam arent that sort of player. What do you think Ed001? {Ed001's Note - for me it is just a right winger and striker that are priority.}

30 Jan 2012 11:59:26
also i would be surprised if Cavani left Napoli for us before the summer as Napoli are still in the champions league

Eden Hazard has put a number of Premier League clubs on red alert after admitting he wants to move to England."After thinking about it, I'm leaning towards England," he told Canal+. "It's a style of play that suits me and it's there that you can learn the most."I want to play at a big club, but I don't want to sit on the bench. It needs to be a club that plays good football.But Hazard kept his cards close to his chest saying only: "Well, you're free to place your bets."

Gunners

Definitely a possiblity that he could come to us, but it won't happen until summer anyway, so a lot depends on where we finish in the league and how well we do in the cups

I think there will be "exciting" activity. Obviously Doni is out and Ward is in. Do you think we'll match the 8-10m Blackburn will want for young Hoilett because I think that's a reasonable sum considering what we've spent and what we have and what we need, even if it doesn't work like that. Do you think the club will make a move like this? Rovers will be keen! Cheers from AUS YNWA

30 Jan 2012 11:13:13
Luca tonis on his way kenny will offer him a 6 month contract for striker cover as kenny doesnt want to spend big in this window

Luca Toni has signed for Al Nasr

Dalglish has said no transfers will happen in or out its on the lfc website too.i cant hide my disapointment i think we are missing the boat in this window yes the uros are round the corner which means better scouting but also mean higher price if players do well.not happy at all!

The same Luca Toni that's off to the middle east?

He's gone to UAE Dalglish said no players will come in or go out this month So no signings till summer

Liverpool in talks with a possible swoop of John Terry and Anton Ferdinand.

DC thinks that the pair will be solid at the back and JT's got a great relationship with Luis Suarez...

Anton would love to work with his lifetime fan JT and would love to shake hands after the FA scrapped it.

ED002 will be thrown in in the deal because her astounding beauty was too much for JT after he is without a good missus...

after 30 days of who we are going to buy or sell I am now at my wits end. I dont care who we buy now just buy someone haha! I love the excitement as we get to transfer deadline day and all the dodgy airport and melwood sightings but I really hope we are not all disappointed come midnight. we do need a poacher and perhaps a ball winner in midfield personally I would be happy with a couple of experienced loan signings and then take stock in the summer... Come on Kenny dont think the last 2 results mean we will be ok!!!

Tevez and Mascherano both to sign loan deals until the end of the season.

30 Jan 2012 10:47:44
If our owners have any desire to finish in the top 4 then they will sign a forward today or tommorow.If the do not then they don't have a clue about football.

Like you do!

I agree we need a forward if we want top 4

I played at a higher level then you would ever know mate. I was a palace youth player so i do.

They might not know much about football but they do know theyve already spent nearly 60 mill on forwards

i personally think we will try to get cavani for 35-40 mill, and get tevez on loan until the summer whilst letting carrol out on loan to QPR. sounds great to me, the double here we come !

30 Jan 2012 10:43:41
Surely a versatile central midfielder will be signed this window eds? Moussa sissokko would be perfect, as he is fairly cheap, and can play CM as well as in a more holding role giving his strength and speed!

Do you really think anybody will be signed this window? {Ed019's Note - I think we will sign at least 1}

30 Jan 2012 10:21:22
I doubt we will sign any one and if we do it will be someone under the radar either not discussed or only just being talked about now its the liverpool way. I believe we need players to push for 4th but only a winger/Creative midfielder and a striker. No ideas who we will sign if any but would like Marin (summer more than likely tho) and Luke De Jong brilliant finisher which is what we need again better chance in the summer.

30 Jan 2012 10:16:43
hi guys great website. there is news that we might get tevez on loan. personally i would like to have tevez to play for us as he is a goal machine. also he can help us get top 4 and win trophys. with him and suarez together, that will be a dream partnership. kenny has got a history of getting these players and making them feel comfortable. but on the other hand, i feel sorry for carroll because this will upset him. i don't want andy to go because he has been unlucky and we know what he can do when he is fit. surely this tevez news (if its true or not), means that kenny and comoli want to get a striker before this window. also i have heard that cavani is being mention, is it a possibility?. what do u guys think?. thanks and ynwa.

30 Jan 2012 10:04:55

I totally agree that signing Tevez would be so good. But Tevez himself has sais he DOES NOT want to sign for Liverpool. Now I'm not saying he won't sign on loan for the rest of the season but the move will not become permenant. He does not want to be in England. This story about Masch would be a dream come true. I was so gutted when he left. Now if this is true and he does sign we would have more chance of swaying Teves to Liverpool. Watch this space but I believe both stories to be pie in the sky. (lets hope not) What you reckon Eds?

Ben irish.

30 Jan 2012 09:09:19
Rumours suggest that Javier Mascherano is in Liverpool holding talks with officials regarding a sensational £15 million return to Anfield.

Liverpool are looking to boost their midfield rank in the second half of the season after the inspirational Lucas was ruled out for a year with a cruciate ligament injury.

Mascherano left Liverpool for Barcelona in 2010 for a £22 million. His career hasn't really gone the way he had hoped, as a ball-winning central midfielder by trade but has not really been given a chance in that position due to the form of Sergio Busquest.

He is keen to get back playing regular first-team football again before his career comes to a close.

He still has a real love for Liverpool and dedicated that Champions League victory over United to the fans that had taken him to their hearts in a fruitful three year spell.

The Barcelona midfielder has a close association with Kia Joorabchian, who is also allegedly keen to get the Argentine back to England as he feel the style of football in Britain suits his player more than it does in Spain.

Liverpool have yet to confirm, or deny, the reports that Mascherano is in Merseyside to discuss a move but if this deal could be completed before Tuesday's transfer window closes then it would be a huge signing for Liverpool as they look to climb back towards the Champions League qualification places in the Premier League.

--------------------------------

Be brilliant if he came back, him and Lucas in the middle very solid

Very solid and very, very uncreative

But Masch has pace and can tackle unlike the dumpling Adam! {Ed001's Note - he can't tackle though! That is why he got so many needless bookings, he is an idiot. At least Adam wants to play for the club, I don't remember him going on strike to get out of the club. He is a rat and deserves to be treated like one, instead of a hero by some sad people with no self respect.}

Can't quite get my head around the negativity still surrounding Carol.
Yes there were rumours about a swap deal with Tevez, but neither Man City or LFC have confirmed these.
Kenny spoke very positively about Andy's contribution on Saturday, in fact he was part of the build up in both goals, and he hit the post.
Kenny has reiterated his faith in AC and AC has reiterated his desire to stay at Anfield. Those who keep doubting him and asking for him to be shipped out should look back at their treatment of Lucas at his beginning and remember that he was player of the season. Give Carol a chance he will come good, show him support.

Kenny is not going to say anything else is he about one of his players. It's a business and Carroll is an asset a depreciating asset but an asset. So when asked of course you talk him up whether you want to keep him or not.
Try to read between the lines. We have a style of play that Carroll doesn't really fit into. Think most supporters would agree were more effective and certainly better to watch without him.

Liverpool will not be and never be mugged and sucked into the way Chelsea, Man.C, and Man.U operate, sinking their clubs into huge debt.

We are beating all the top teams now, but against the bottom teams we're not converting the goals to turn draws into wins, thus why we need an assassin striker and a creative winger.

I would love to get Podolski, Ozil, Dempsey and Cavani who are confident leaders and always do well on the big stage.
How many times do we see them do brilliantly for Germany and USA in the world cup.

I feel for now Liverpool will pick off the bargains, as other clubs are overloaded, so Luke De Jong will be signed to partner Suarez which could explode.

D.Texieria as a long term investment.

I think there is also the possibility of MARIN and BARRIOS coming now or in the summer.

I think with Tevez falling out with Mancini, will never be loaned or sold to Chelsea, with Milan being Tevez's preferred destination.
Between now and then, he could unbelievably be loaned to Liverpool until the end of the season, and may get a buzz out of playing Suarez.

Man.City feel Liverpool are not going to damage their league ambitions, and with not letting Tevez play against City, he could do a good service for City by helping Liverpool take points of Man.U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs.

I am not sure if Tevez is cup tied for the Carling and FA. Cup so a Wembley appearance and the chance to play in front of the Kop could be too much to turn down.
This is a big selling point, outside of wages, whoever signs will be playing at the famous Wembley, a dream for all players overseas.

I think if Tevez plays for Liverpool, he will realise King Kenny a striker himself, is a manager he can connect with, and will probably not go to Milan at all, as his experience at Liverpool will be mind blowing.
He will respect KK more than Fergie and Mancini.

After what happened last year in the transfer window, Tevez is possible.

Come on Henry, back King Kenny while we have Gerard still standing, and you will roll out that big cigar of yours in May.

Mick Kopite

Merseyside is also a much nicer place to live than Manchester. The Wirral in fact is voted as one of the best places to live in the UK. Beaches wonderful countryside fresh clean air.
Just ask Rafa. It's the one thing I agree with Tevez on Manchester is a bit of a dump.

Sky make you laugh.Top story on Journalist weekend sports report,=Austrailian Open Tennis Final,between 2 foreigners.They just hated mentioning(in passing)weekend result.And when did,was from Andy Carroll angle

Bit paranoid, the Australian Open is a major event and that match made history. Sky do have their bias though but I just don't bother going to them for any news or reports.

Oh and bigger than domestic footy.As Taggart said before game-"unparralled world interest".Same for tennis?Me thinks not,And Aussie open hardly deemed as same as Wimbeldon,U.S,or French.Get real,If mancs won,theyd be fornicating all week

Hows it paranoid,if you admit(the corporation who tried to buy Manc U)Are bias.Contradiction of terms pal

Hi Fellow Reds,

Let me start by saying what a great performance from the RedMen this weekend.

One question for the editors.

Regarding the Carlos Tevez saga.
Would Liverpool just simply make an offer to City for the player, or would they first have some sort of indication from the Players representatives that he is even willing to join before going ahead and making an offer, im curious to know coz i think it maybe a little pointless to go with an offer if the player wouldn't even consider the switch.

Thanks guys
Faizal from South Africa {Ed001's Note - usually players are sounded out first.}

Hello Eds,
I just want so say that I agree with zorro and his opinion on Tevez. I'm not sure that fans would love him, but if he scores they will. Saving money would be another big advantage of that deal but I think no one knows what is being planned, maybe apart from you Eds, so it is just pure speculation. But I'd rather go for Tevez than Cavanni.The best thing of all is that tomorrow is another game and tomorrow night we should know everything about transfers done. Let's just wait and see.

We have no more match with city this year so a loan maybe accept by city as we still have to play man utd, Chelsea and Tottenham so Tevez loan in Liverpool will help city too.

Hi ed, quick question on who
would be a better striker for our club.
1) Abel Hernandez
2) David Texeira
State a reason for your opinion
thanks. {Ed002's Note - Perhaps one of the other posters will play but the Eds don't do such things.}

Hernandez - Because I saw him play and I know he will be one of the greatest strikers in the World. Amazing young player.

Not Teixiera - Because I have never seen him play (apart from Youtube, but that doesn't count!) - He could be amazing too - I just don't know!

I think liverpool do have a few players they would like to sign and are trying to also the owners are here to maybe make a deal. im not sure who they are trying to sign but maybe a winger and a striker. the thing is liverpool are one of the richest clubs but no the richest therefore they have the money to sing players but if man city and chelsea find out about it they will buy the player instead so liverpool have to keep there transfers quite. so listen to the eds they now what there talking about. finally i no it is very unlikley but i would love liverpool to buy cavani i reckon hes class and i would splash the cash for him if it was up to me thanks

30 Jan 2012 07:35:32
Everyone screaming on about who are we going to sign, I personally don't think we will sign anyone for the first team (although I think we need to).

As I have previously posted we have quality youth players available to make the step up but we have to tread carefully when utilising the youth players, think back the when Stevie joined the first team to amount of time out injured due to numerous problems, Arsenal are seeing the same problems with their youth players not being physically up to playing week in week out.

But what does this mean for Liverpool, we have to use rotation with youth and senior players to develop their talent over the coming years, this is something we have seen with a few players but in my opinion we should be bloodying more of the youth squad rather than wasting millions on unproven foreign players.

If we are going to spend money let them earn their wings in the reserves prior to joining the first team like we used to do.

Your a better man than me Macca, can not believe that u come on here to share what ever tit bits u get and people constantly have a go at u, I'm gonna have a stab in the dark but I doubt u personally decide who Liverpool will or will not sign, I'm failing to see where the animosity is coming from, I for one am grateful anyway, keep up the good work.

Chiz

Because some "fans" are idiots, same ones who criticise players are criticising Macca for some titbits he gives us. It's endemic of the internet era, everyone gets a voice and an opinion now but then that also means more idiots and morons get an opinion now.

Football/soccer coverage is pretty much non-existent in the US with the exception of the World Cup, at least on the broadcast networks. American football dominates and is huge (not my thing, but definitely heavily watched by pretty much everyone I know). To give you an example, I can pretty much guarantee you that outside of maybe Beckham, most people I know couldn't even name a single pro football/soccer player.

Landon Donovan

David Texeira, everybody seems to know how good he is all of a sudden.

Fickle is what you lot are...after the considerable belly aching I've been reading about how crap Carroll is, now all of a sudden the posts are coming in that he had a great game against United and has begun to show his considerable promise and...how we should not let him go under any circumstances.

Is this for real?? Were you actually watching the game on Saturday??

Carroll did NOT and I repeat...did NOT have a great game. He was his usual lazy self with no touch, no vision, no sense of positional play and no enthusiasm. On at least two occasions he was more concerned about his damn ponytail than busting a gut to chase after the ball.

Even the commentator was berating Carroll for his terrible play.

What he did on Saturday was have two brilliant moments: the flick on to Kuyt being the obvious one; the other being early in the game when he chested the ball with great control and kicked the ball away from the defender into open space...only to have Stevie steal it from him and go on a great run (albeit with an unfortunate shot over the net). That's it.

Now, if those two flashes constitute your definition of a great game...then so be it, but, in my book and in the totality of the entire game, he underperformed miserably....just like he has in virtually every game while wearing an LFC shirt. I for one would expect much more from my main striker over the course of a game.

The ball he headed onto the bar he should have scored...no excuses. The chance he had in the box where he turned and then scuffed his kick...he should have scored. What is even worse was instead of going after the ball when he missed his shot, he was more interested in making a ridiculous claim for a penalty.

The reality is he is not a #9...not even remotely close. He does not use his considerable size to his advantage and when he does manage to actually stay on his feet, his first touch is SHOCKINGLY clumsy. He has no pace and when the ball comes his way, he just blindly heads the ball forward...does he not realize that 99% of the time he is the most forward LFC player...who is he heading the ball to exactly??...so, invariably possession just ends up with a defender. If he showed more signs of being able to win the ball in the air (stunning how often he is beaten by defenders) and retain control (like he did in that bright moment on Saturday), I'd agree there is hope...but sadly, he just ain't got it.

Terrible signing and the scouting staff and management should be embarrassed for such an abyssmal assessment and misallocation of precious resources. So, if there is even a sniff of truth to any of these rumours relating to a swap or transfer of Carroll before Tuesday, I for one, hope we snap their hands off...

It's taken you more effort to write this bile, Mr No Name, than it would take to actually *support* the lad.

Matt S YNWA

Are you for serious?

Carroll was by far man of the match in my opinion.

He put in 110% effort won almost everything he challenged for in the air, done some great knock ons(most of watch Downing was unable to read because he's sh!t) was involved with the first goal keeping De gea occupied.

The control he done when he flicked then chested it to put Gerrard on a run was sublime, he gave it his utmost all.

Stop being such a naive person and give credit when due.

Tom.

P.s your probally RedTurk yet don't have the balls to give credit where its due.

Awww other teams' fans can be so bitter sometimes. Is the OP a manc, press agree...if he's a geordie, press disagree

cozinoz

To the OP: You're completely wrong about his performance on Saturday. He held the ball up better than I've ever seen him do it before. His flicks and knockdowns constantly went into space, even though we left him isolated for most of the match. He was chasing back all game and won possession back for us on at least 2 occasions when a United player dawdled on it near the halfway line. I don't know what you define as a good performance - were you expecting mazy runs and tricks? That's not the sort of player Carroll is. He was effectively on his own against the United defence for most of the match and held the ball up in an exemplary fashion, as well as creating chances for his teammates. He got an assist and was unlucky not to score in the final minutes with his only chance of the game. Not sure what more you can ask of the lad to be honest. I agree he may not be the striker most suited to how I would like to see the club play, but at the very least he's a great option to have on the bench and if we did end up selling him I would hope it isn't now, when his value is at its lowest ebb

Red Ollie

WTF, You sure your supporting the right team,Yes we all moan and groan about AC at some point ,He is a young man with a massive amount of pressure on him to perform not to mention a 35 mill price tag,although thats not his fault .LFC play an entirely different way to NCL.Ok he has been unable to pick it up at the moment but he needs support not slagging off.This is the same guy who destroyed us as St james park,as they always say form is temporary class is permanent.

What about a certain guy called Peter Crouch? If I remember he had a similar start to his Anfield career.

REDFORIFE

From the first whistle you could see something had clicked he was 1st to every loose ball, getting up above the defenders and his control was 10 times better, I swear some of you just want him to fail, no one is saying he will be world class but as he clicks with team mates will play a big part in making goals for the team, and anyway he was part of the team that beat united and without him we would have lost/due a replay, so stop moanin!
Lfcmatt

Even though kuyt scored the winner i was a bit shocked he got man of the match.i totally agree andy carroll should of got it.

redricho

Carroll was his usual invisible self for 70 minutes. Then, as Man U lost control of the match after Scholes went off, he suddenly won a few headers, against the likes of Fabio (or was it Rafael?) and suddenly he is man of the match and everything is fine. Seriously?

I wish people would stop mentioning the lads price tag! He has been with us a year now, whilst i feel he did have a good game saturday, i maintain he is not for us. I hope if he stays he gets back to his Newcastle best but i fear his boyhood dream playing in the black and white has been and gone and now he just doesn't see the game that way. He is young but i fear it will be too late before he realises exactly how lucky he is.

Seriously guys most of you must be watching a different game to me. He spent most of the game walking. There was an icident in the first half when Manu had the ball, and had caroll got of his fat arse and even attempted to put pressure on the player who was only a few metres away we would have been 4 on 3. But he casually walked towards play. The commentator even mentioned how he wasnt even trying.

To add injury to insult, we play stupid hoofball when he is on the field. Why? Because Caroll has no pace to run unto balls, has no skill with his feet, and couldn't read play if it were signposted for him. So our only option is to hoof it to him. Even when we broke free on the wings, he was never in the box to have a go, and when he was, he was being outjumped by dwarves.

Sorry lads. Take your rose coloured specs off. If you cant see that he has no chance of ever being anything other than one of the worst players in the EPL, I feel sorry for you. You know very little about football.

RedHed

Agger was man of match great display, although AC gave one of his best performances yet and Stevie was right we wouldnt be in the next round with AC. Ben

RedHed, if it seems like everyone else is watching a different game, wouldn't it be more likely that you're watching the lad through sh*t tinted glasses?

clearly you're preying on him for negatives and not even noticing the work he does put in because you'd rather see him fail and be proved right than have him be accepted as a good player.

I don't like to see us play hoofball either, but i can't deny it was effective on saturday as he was actually on several occasions able to hold the ball up well and offload it to a midfielder. And you have the cheek to say we don't know anything about football, when you don't even see these things because you're too busy slagging him off for not turning the defender, running 50yards, rounding the keeper and backheeling it into the net.

X

Rather have Andy Carroll than De Gea. Andy Carroll brings a lot to the team, just be intresting to what happens when Suarez returns.

I thought Kelly and Skrtel were the best players on the pitch actually. And it's laughable to suggest that Carroll will be one of the worst players in the PL, he was great for Newcastle last season. Go back to pleasuring yourself over pictures of old red nose and get off our board

Red Ollie

Hey Folks! I'm the original poster...not quite sure what this fascination is with having people sign their posts (especially since half the time, fake names are used??)...as if adding a fake name somehow lends credibility??...never quite understood that.

Also, don't quite get this concept of BLINDLY supporting the team/players no matter how poorly they may be playing. Some fans seem to equate being a REAL FAN with never questioning the team? Doing so is a recipe for complacency and mediocrity.

Supporters demanding the best--which may well mean being critical of them on occasion--is how you get a team to improve. You praise them when they do well but, when they underperform (i.e. Bolton, Stoke, Carroll in general) does it make any sense to just stick your head in the sand and ignore reality?? As a supporter...yes you back the team but, there is a responsibility for the players to do their part as well.

Anyway, for you that actually think that a performance like the one on Saturday by Andy was worthy of MOTM and we should not get rid of him...you're living in fantasy land and you'd better get used to LFC occupying 7th spot for a long, long time.

Was he better?...debatable, but, even giving him the benefit of the doubt, when you are working off such a low standard, it's not saying much (just because he had one sublime touch shortly after our first goal and of course the flick on to Kuyt). If Stevie had put in that exact same performance over the course of the match, he would be considered to have had a sub-par game...a "good" performance from Andy is relative--so, based on the crap we've seen from him to this point, I guess he was MOTM.

By the way, I support LFC and have done so for many years...I just expect a level of professionalism...that's my real beef with Andy. Don't lope around the field aimlessly playing with your pony tail, don't drop to the ground every time you jump for a ball, stop pleading with the ref for a penalty when you should instead be chasing the ball...bust your hump and give it your all.

Kuyt has his limitations but, could anyone ever question his effort and his commitment??

At the end of the day, it's irrelevant what I think...or what you think. The proof will be the first opportunity LFC have to unload Andy...I guarantee LFC will absolutely POUNCE on the opportunity. Disagree??...I'm open to wagers!

Oh!...almost forgot...better sign this post...

The player in the stand sitting next to Suarez in the 2nd half was in fact Gaston Ramirez

why are people insisting that Carol has to go to get a replacement. we lose Suarez for 8 games and we have 1 striker. so when he's back we'll have two. squad rotation. injury. bookings. internationals. this should all dictate that Carol doesn't need to go. he's 22. give him a break. he'll come good in the right games with the right support. what can he do alone with poor balls against 4 defenders. we will get a new big name striker. be it Tex. teves. cavani. whoever. doesn't mean carol will go.

Hmm, interesting, Pablo Hernandez (usual Valencia starter), is not on the bench. Could this mean he is possibly on the move? Or just getting a rest. But if he was just getting a rest surely there would still be a place for him on the bench? e.g. like for Soldado? I would absolutely love for him to sign! Thoughts?!

Liverpool will not be and never be mugged and sucked into the way Chelsea, Man.C, and Man.U operate, sinking their clubs into huge debt.

We are beating all the top teams now and not converting the goals to turn draws into wins, thus why we need an assassin striker and a creative winger.

I would love to get Podolski, Ozil and Dempsey who are confident leaders and always do well on the big stage, and wouldn't cost the earth also.
How many times do we see them do brilliantly for Germany and USA in the world cup.

I feel for now Luke De Jong will be signed to partner Suarez, with also D.Texieria as a long term investment.

more of a opinion than a rumour but its based of rumours...I think we need a winger without a doubt shaqiri and marin should be looked at and if they are going to come to the club its going to be on deadline day i also think liverpool will look for a young striker such as david texeira because there is no point going in for a player to "replace suarez while he is serving his ban" like some fans say because is ban is over! so just looking on a opinion from macca or the eds also! I appreciate all the work guys and come on people get off macca's back we all want to know who the inter player is but he may not be able to tell us or may doesnt think we deserve it! thanks! {Ed001's Note - he has said repeatedly it is Castaignos.}

Ed macca has not told us "repeatedly".

Sometimes I wonder what you eds are on coz you dont make any sense sometimes.

I have just read through all of maccas posts on his page and he only mentions Castaignos by name once and that was a couple hours ago after I put pressure on him so I dont know where you have got this "repeatedly" business from.

People wouldnt keep asking if he had told us already...it might be easy for you eds to decipher maccas riddles but its not easy for the rest of us.

Leo

True Leo,

He has not said repeatedly. He only hinted at who the target/s were and revealed Castaignois definitively today (well - yesterday now, it's late!)

- which is when he said 'he didn't want to have to spell it out...' or some such...

You're the editor ed002! There's a better chance that you've seen it somewhere - but If you can dig up an older post of him saying who it was DEFINITIVELY I'd be surprised. I really don't think he did - and I've been addicted here. He never said so on the Macca Rumours page.

Again - Macca said himself he didn't wanna have to spell it out.

I figured, like many people - that it was Coutinho or Castaignios (Zarate as an outside bet) but was glad to hear for sure which one it really was. He dropped nice juicy hints though, thats for sure - it made speculating on who it was more fun imo.

Relax ed002 - not long left to go now! Your writing style is eminating stress atm.

Keep up the good work ed, eds. (You too Macca)

BJH YNWA. {Ed002's Note - Why are you bleating at me? I did not make any comment.}

Of all the rumour sites here this must be the most where most attacks go on {Ed001's Note - people really are pathetic, Macca has said it a few times, he blatantly pointed out who it was and yet some muppets still whine. Just because they are too lazy to bother to read back over previous comments.}

Lol.

'Why are you bleating at me?'.

Just noticed how funny that was.

Class.

I love that stuff ed002! Excellent. You're the man!

BJH YNWA.

Sorry ed002. I meant ed001. I just think about you a lot ed002... you know I love you, but sometimes I think it's all one way.....

Clearly ed001 is rather stressed judging by the huff he's taking over this though. hehe.

I am not a muppet ed001. Far from it. Thats not very nice. Leo did nothing to merit being called a muppet either. His statements are correct.

Show these 'muppets' a message where he said Castaignos was the target - BEFORE Leo got him to say so. It doesn't exist.

Macca made hints, but never said a name until yesterday. That is all. It was good that Leo got him to finally say who it was.

I never whined - nor did Leo, we are just trying to get through to you that he did not say Castaignos - not once until then, never mind 'repeatedly' as you say.

Again - He only said Castaignos yesterday because Leo asked him to clear it up once and for all.

So cheers Leo.

BJH YNWA.

ps - If it bothers you that much, just show the post from Macca from before yesterday where he said it was Castaignos... unless you are 'too lazy to bother to read back over previous comments.' (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, eh! see what I did there!)

hehe. But don't bother wasting your time - it doesn't exist! You will find hints, but never a name.

But please, relax and keep up the good work.

Macca why do you keep dodging the question regarding the inter player? Why are you still unable to tell us who it is like you said you would?

You have just posted today that "a few journalists are now running the story on the inter player" but I still have no clue who you are on about.

You seem almost bewildered as to why people still question your information but what do u expect if you choose to be so vague and aloof?

On behalf of the entire site just answer the question and we can all move on...who is the Inter player we were trying to sign?

Thanks

Nothing shocks me anymore in football transfers

In the past we have
- sold an out of form player for £50m
- bought a striker for £35m
- re-signed Bellamy for nothing while under contract to city And cost them £14m
- brought back Kenny
- agreed to pay jovanovic £90k a week
- bought and sold Robbia keane in under 1 year
- wanted Barry over alonso

"Eds, Cristiano Ronaldo makes $17.06 million per year, messi is at 13.76 (this is fact)... The highest payed players on the boston red sox makes 21 million per year... and you're telling me we can't afford these players wages? I'm pretty sure we'd have more then enough to pay for Cavani or Tevez. Would like your opinion. {Ed002's Note - The Red Sox play 162 games a season plus more if they get to the post season.}"

It seems as if you're being a little biased here Ed, the amount of games played per year doesn't relate to salary (ie. NFL, NHL make more than footballers also) so if our owners can pay baseball wages, they could surely stump up half that for Cavani... Hmm. {Ed001's Note - or you are being a little clueless? Do you understand the variance in revenues between US sports teams and us? The only person with bias is clearly you.}

This person is a joke. more games = more money to spend on wages. easy.

...and em , the profits on the national sport of a massive country is a bit bigger. {Ed016's Note - There is so much more sponsoring too, ticket prices are higher. I live in Canada so I know}

i pray andy carrol wil be a fully commited happy liverpool player on wednesday along with suarez and another premier league striker

29 Jan 2012 23:13:38
all this about andy carroll leaving is rubbish. carlos tevez will not be joining and carroll is staying at liverpool he has said "The club has been great with me and everyone outside the club has been fantastic and I am enjoying it down here.Everyone has backed me and helped us along the way. I have signed a contract here and this is the team I am playing for."

When a player has to come out and say something like that, it's likely something is going on. Or have you not heard of club directors giving managers the "vote of confidence" just before they are sacked?

Am i the only one who doesn't understand what it is with players and wages. Surely there gets to a point when earning over £100,000 a week that money just doesn't become a major factor in life, I know they all ant the money because it's a hard life (warning sarcasm) being a footballer because they have to retire a 30+ but the likes of Eto who have moved to cold Russia for mega bucks but it must be hard on his family and I would have thought that would be hard for his family.

I mean if I was given a choice I would go where i wanted because it would be a greater joy to play for over money. -McMenemy

I was actually about to write a post relating to exactly the same point. Retire with 40m in the bank, or retire with 50m, what in the world could you do with 50 that you couldn't do with 40 (No stupid responses).

Red7.

Totally agree. But unfortantly football is all money. It should all be about passion but there all to greedy.. -Alan

I could buy Torres with 50M....I could not buy torress with 40M. Oh wait maybe I could and have 20m left over!
Iggypop

On current form you would get around 45m change for Torres

cozinoz

What use could you possibly have for Torres? I suppose he could do the cleaning or some garden maintenence but I'd imagine I'd get a better deal putting an ad in a shop window for someone to do that for about £12 an hour so that leaves plenty of change from £40 million to last the rest of my life.

I'd pay him 15 quid an hour - Torres knows his botany

Hahah, what ed?? it matters not how many games they play.. NFL players play 15 regular season games a year and still average more than the top european footballer's.. So who's to say we can't stump up the cash for Cavani or Tevez, You're thought process is a little flawed. Thanks for the response though.

I'm just going to say, I believe our owners can afford it. That is all. {Ed001's Note - you really don't understand the reality of the situation, in the NFL they have huge revenue from advertising. It dwarfs ours. Baseball brings in huge sums through the turnstiles due to the huge amount of games they play, again allowing them an income outstripping ours. They can afford to play more. Please try and get in touch with reality before criticising others.}

You also have to consider there are only 30 baseball teams in all of America with it's 300M plus population... Pretty much everyone picks a team to follow, even if they're nowhere close to that team and the Red Sox are one of the more popular ones. {Ed002's Note - BS. College sport is massive in America.}

Yeh mate, they probably can afford it, but at the end of the day they're running a business, they'll spend within the confines revenue they make. They won't make a donation to the club in the form of Edinson Cavani.

For arguments sake, let's say you earn 35k a year, TECHNICALLY you could afford to spend 20k of that on biscuits, but that'd be a silly decision wouldn't it?

Telly deals over there are MASSIVE too aren't they? {Ed016's Note - Baseball is on North American tv more than footy. Even possibly more than hockey and NFL}

Its not silly if you really love biscuits...

BJH YNWA.

I am a big NFL fan and having been watching since the mid 90s, to those that care I am a Green Bay due to their amazing nickname - no jokes.

However the game when watched on tv is almost ruined by the advertising. - 'Lets analyse that play using these shots we have from the blimp cam, sponsored by s**teweiser' - 'The player looks like he broke his leg in that tackle, thankfully he will be carted of the pitch in the Mountain Dew med buggy' etc etc

This is why they can afford 80m 4year contracts. Unless you want 'The Kop, sponsored by Preparation H' I think you should stop talking out of the place that will never get a tan.

Paso

Overall baseball attendance is very much driven by the success of the four "national" names: Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, and Dodgers. In last decade, attendance went up because the Red Sox and Cubs emerged from dormancy.

Beyond these four clubs, club attachment is very regionally driven - much more so than NFL. And depending on the region, that determines ticket sales. I went to regular season Marlins game last year: we had almost the whole stadium to ourselves. For most clubs, the revenue comes from elsewhere.

Shame about the Packers recent loss though

werent spurs prepared to offer 20 mil plus for carroll when he was at newcastle. i think liverpool should take a 15 mil loss as its not worked out if they have the chance. carrolls a good player but hes not for us. i actually see him being an england regular but not if he stays at liverpool. {Ed001's Note - they made a bid of 25m.}

Yet another un-named Carroll critic zzzzz

Looks like those "unnamed Carroll critics" include the LFC coaching staff.

If Redknapp offers anything close to 25 million, bite his hand off.

They dont include the LFC coaching staff.
