Hi Eds, do we still hold any interest in Borussia Dortmund's Mkhitaryan? Thanks.

Watching youth cup tonight and we really can't defend at any level.the manager is way out of his depth and tactically naive.we have so much attacking talent that may leave due to the club falling short.oh how we miss rudolfo.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

31 Jan 2015 00:47:26
Are you insinuating that these lads will leave because we haven't won the fa youth cup? Because although I'm sure they all love to win, it's pretty naive to have that train of thought.

It's about player development as much as it is winning.

Infact, just look to our latest u21 game against United. Yes we lost, but look to the players on the team sheets. experienced pros such as valdes and Anderson being played, were as we send out 17/18/19 year old lads. If that isn't a test of their abilities and a step in the right direction in terms of their own personal accomplishments and player development, then fair enough, maybe they should leave and sit on the under 21 bench there, ya know, because they won.

Unless you know what to qualify what you said, in terms of pushing them through? Then, that's an age old debate for this site in my opinion! Also remember this was the under 18s. If these lads are expecting to be first teamers already then maybe their ambition is overcedeing their current ability.

I have no doubt this will wrack up a few disagrees, but despite that, try to remember what the primary point of clubs acadamies are. Whether you think we're achieving that is a whole other (and old) debate.

Can I just say how much of a role model Daniel Sturbridge is? Unbelievably inspirational and a true professional!

This doesn't really have a point, so none of this 'we don't but superstars, we make them, ' but, who was the last signing you were genuinely excited about arriving.
I didn't know much about suarez when came, so mine was probably Torres, although I was kind of hyped about a few players since, but nothing like Torres! Remember watching a few la Liga games and thinking, this guy is awesome, wish he played for us, which hasn't happened since then really!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Everyone knew a fair bit about Suarez from the World Cup the year before. He scored one of the goals of the tournament in the second round to knock out Korea, and then infamously handballed to ultimately knock Ghana out too!

Agree0 Disagree0

Balotelli, not so excited anymore.

Agree3 Disagree0

Honestly? Lallana. Before that it was Sturridge.

Agree2 Disagree0

Same as you Fencey, was buzzing when we signed Torres - felt like a genuinely quality signing. Wasn't the same with Suarez, perhaps because he was moving from a smaller league?

Agree0 Disagree0

Coutinho

he was very well thought of as a youngster and i was so excited when we managed to sign him.

Maybe a bit naive voice here but I want to say a good word to the FA for Costa's suspention. I was sure after the game that he will get away with this one (it is not easy to prove is was on purpose the stamping even though we all know it was) so well done for not giving up and don't buy into Jose's crying. Also, well done to the referees that after some unbeliveable diving earlier this season from some Chelsea players are very careful before giving them penalties (a shame that didn't apply to the Emre can penalty). If they want to win the league they will have to do it with talent (which, unfortunately, they are not short of) and not by bullying or cheating.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

I think the time had come to make an example of someone, or the stamping might have started to get more dangerous.

Agree0 Disagree0

The real reason he got banned was because Mourinho tried to influence the referee in the tunnel.
The FA would have took a dim view of that and so they stitched Costa up in order to get to Mourinho.
The FA is a law unto itself. It is an embarrassing organisation.
I have no reason to stick up for Chelsea.
But you can't have an organisation which runs football in this country just making things up as they go along.
No appeal. So as soon as you are charged with something your doomed.
Divvies all of them.

Hi eds just wondering if you think Sturridge is going to be back in the line up or if they will not risk him tomorrow? Considering replacing the suspended Costa with him in my fantasy football, sad I know

Andre Schurrle is looking likely to join Wolfsburg for just over £20m. I know we don't need another forward, but he would have fit perfectly in our team. He's a top player.

Red Rum

Believable14 Unbelievable0

I would have agreed but we have signed a similar player in Lallana

Agree2 Disagree6

Do you think Schurrle and Lallana are similar? I personally disagree. I think Lallana is much trickier where as I think Schurrle bases his game on pace. Personally I wouldn't have wanted Liverpool to sign him a bit of a risk, that said he could be an improvement on our strikers but not on our wide players.

Agree3 Disagree2

I should have made myself clearer. Similar as in they play similar roles in the team.

30 Jan 2015 18:54:46
It shows how far we've fallen as a club that people are disappointed we can't sign Danny Ings. He's a slightly better option to Borini.
We have some cracking youth players waiting for a fair go and Studge will hopefully get back to top form soon. We all know we need to sell to buy because of FFP so what's the point in getting hopes up with paper talk and Twitter nonesense.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

30 Jan 2015 18:05:55
A question for everyone.

Out of 2 players heavily linked to us this week (Ings & lavezzi). Which of them would you rather have as a striker?

Personally I'd go with Ings, at 4-5mil he's a cracking buy and lavezzis goal scoring is shocking.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Neither mate. Lavezzi is almost 30 and Ings isn't an improvement on the strikers we have.

Red Rum

Agree13 Disagree1

£4-5m on a player who's free in 6months is not a cracking deal to me

Agree8 Disagree0

Give youth a chance. Does not cost us a penny then. I would rather we triedsome of them over a sustained 6 - 8 week period than keep pissing money away that we don't have.

Agree5 Disagree0

We have Sinclair in the academy scored 21 goals so far and not given a sniff

Agree9 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 19:50:03
@ Omega - We'd have to compensate Burnley if he joined us on a free because of his age. That'd probably eat up a lot of that £4-5m "saving".

Regardless though, I don't think the player is good enough for us, even with due consideration to our lack of quality strikers apart form Sturridge.

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 19:50:39
He's not free there's compensation to be paid which is roughly 3m . I'd take Ings I'm local to burnley and he's a cracking little player

Agree1 Disagree1

He is a decent player, Ings, but like most of our buys, we seem to be banking on him hitting a level most of our buys simply don't reach.

If you want the goals, you need to spend the dosh and get a top striker.

Agree4 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 17:36:37

I know it's nothing to do with liverpool but love your knowledge and was just wondering what you think happened to freddy adu? I remember him being touted as the next best thing i'm sure he made his debut at 14! What went wrong for him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He is simply not good enough. He is a free agent at the moment so I guess Liverpool could make him an offer.}

Liverpool is letting Gerrard go with a mind to bring in Landon Donovan on a free in the summer.

Agree1 Disagree4

He simply was never that good mate, unless you played fifa or fm. I think he went on trial at United a few years back and they didn't take him on.

Hi Eds
You said lfc are carrying a vast debt will u explain it because i thought fsg paid the debt when they bought us

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Done to death.}

Most of the debt was wiped as part of the purchase (H&G stadium stuff aside), but as of May 2013, net debt has crept up again and was listed at ~£114M, with ~£69M of that being owed to UKSV.

FY 13/14 will be released in a couple of months so we'll see where it's at for May 2014, but it's hard to see this number having gone anywhere but up and now we've added the stadium expansion as well taking us probably back up near H&G levels.

Agree5 Disagree0

Liverpool are approx £100m in debt isn't this true ed2?
The owners have pumped a lot of money in to the club!
Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - RDL's reply is accurate.}

RDL or Eds. What was the H&G levels we might be nearing? I understand FFP is a concern, but more concerning is the H&G reference. I thought we were close to going bust under them? Would that not then mean we're just as close now?

Any clue to how the debt can be cleared or timescale? Is the naming rights, extra gate enough, if we only buy players with money generated from player sales? Or is it now naming, gates extra and we need to sell a big name each yr, then use the academy to replace?

I know we can't talk about money, but without any figures used, could we get a good realistic scenario to clear debt and rough timeline? Or can a link be posted to a previous answer if this has been done to death.

Genuine interest

Agree0 Disagree0

Hello Eds, I didn't open a new post for this as I'm sure Liverpool's finances(in fact I am 100% certain) have been done to death.

But in as simple terms as possible, could you explain how Liverpool's debt from FSG is different to the debt from H&G if it is different, of course.

I won't begrudge you if you decide against it, I understand a lot of people are squeamish around finances, thanks.

I'm not asking for figures or anything.

Thanks ^_^

Agree0 Disagree0

Not good.

Agree0 Disagree0

A big difference from H&G and the current debt is the current debt is largely owed to the owners rather than a bank, so it's more the size that is similar rather than the nature of it, if that makes sense.

For me, the sizable owner-based debt is a problem for 2 reasons-

1). If the debt increases beyond Liverpool's ability to pay it back on a reasonable timeframe, the owners could well decided the simplest solution is sell the club for an immediate payback. I like FSG and overall they are good owners, so would not like that to happen. I see this as a distinct possibility.

2). If they are forced to convert the debt into equity, they may decide to try to take as much as back before that as possible, which would have a knock on effect on our ability to spend.

Agree0 Disagree0

RDL or ed2 if the net spend is zero this summer? Would that enable the owners to reduce some of the debt?
Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

You would need far better (and more current) access to our financials than I have to answer that one, Gin and Thornley. What I can see right now us nearly 2 years old.

Hi eds,

Forgive me if you guys have dealt with this before, but why did we not sign Christian Eriksen? I remember we were linked to him for like a very long time, and then Tottenham went for him out of the blue.

Love this site, keep up the good work!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - There were lots of clubs interested in him.}

Because Eriksen made it very clear from the beginning that he only wishes to use his next club as a stepping stone to his desired destination - Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Agree7 Disagree2

Why is that a problem? Besides the 2-3 yrs of top class player for us maybe helping towards a trophy and then sell for a profit?
Spurs bought for what £8m? He's single handily won them games with winning goals, they are also in a cup final. £8m well spent and knowing Spurs sell for £20m.

Isn't this what we re doing with Moreno but in a less fanciable position of being a non match winning LB and £18m. Are there many LBs sold for £25m+?

Agree1 Disagree2

30 Jan 2015 18:11:16
Whilst I remember him saying that, I would be highly shocked if that's why we didn't go for him mate.
A.Moreno anyone? Still got him despite similarly desperate 'come get me pleas'.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clubs don't like being told you are just a stepping stone. Especially ones like LFC.

Agree3 Disagree1

He was also a regular talker to the media while he was at Ajax and was changing his "dream team" every week. First it was Real, then Barca, then Man Utd, then Bayern, and so it went and after a couple of weeks clubs knew better than to be involved in that sort of flaky player.

08/09: Degen, Dossena, Cavalieri, N'Gog, Keane, Riera
09/10: Johnson, Aquilani, Kyrgiakos, Rodriguez, Sterling
10/11: Shelvey, Jovanovic, Cole, Wilson, Poulsen, Jones, Meireles, Konchesky, Suso, Suarez, Carroll
11/12: Henderson, Adam, Doni, Downing, Enrique, Coates, Bellamy, Ibe
12/13: Borini, Allen, Assaidi, Sahin, Yesil, Sturridge, Coutinho, Teixeira
13/14: Alberto, Aspas, Mignolet, Toure, Cissokho, Sakho, Ilori, Moses
14/15: Lambert, Lallana, Can, Markovic, Lovren, Origi, Manquillo, Moreno, Balotelli

I just looked through all the players Liverpool have bought since the summer 2008. (See list above) It is a crazy amount of money spend there. To be honest it makes me sick. Absolutely sick. What could have been with some proper recruitment? We are not behind the others because we spend less, but because we do not spend what we got wisely. Looking through all those names - how many do you guys consider a succes? A good transfer? In hindsight i know - but still. The hit rate is terrible. How many have contributed to the team? I do not want to judge this years recruitments just yet - but from 2008 - 2013 i would say only Maxi Rodriguez, Sterling, Shelvey, Brad Jones, Meireles, Suso, Suarez, Henderson, Bellamy, Ibe, Allen, Sturridge, Coutinho, Teixeira and maybe Sakho where good transfers (maybe i unfairly left out someone). That is 15 out of 46. Simply just embarrasing. There is always transfers that won't go to plan for whatever reason. I understand and accept that. Most Liverpool fans i know complains that we can't compete because we lack the money. Saying we should spend more. I don't think that is necessary. We just have to spend better.

Believable15 Unbelievable0

30 Jan 2015 12:39:41
at least 35 of these players flopped. shocking. :(

Agree10 Disagree2

30 Jan 2015 15:25:22
You are forgetting things like:

a) We sold players and recouped much of that money almost every year.
b) Many players do not want to join Liverpool and prefer other destinations, probably because of CL football or lifestyle. I will dare to say Liverpool does not have the name anymore of the old. For example if a player had a choice between Liverpool and Utd he would have chosen the latter in a snap.
c) The last few years we were purchasing mostly potentials because we wanted to spend less and gain from their growth.

Poor management in my opinion, not only from the coach but from the owners down to the comittee in most occassions. Last year(summer) we only needed 2 world class players instead we bought all the above mediocre players and for that's down to the bad policy of the owners.

Had they push for Costa and Willian we would have been the champions by a mile. And for that kind of things I don't blame the coach/manager but the owners who put some "rules" when buying a player instead of seeing the whole picture.

Agree2 Disagree4

Recouped much of that money is a stretch. Suarez aside, we only made money on a few, like Shelvey and N'gog. Most were sold for peanuts or released or paid to leave.

Agree5 Disagree1

30 Jan 2015 16:57:23
That's why we must rethink our transfer policy (Quantity or quality?) and specially our youth policy: It's 100 times better to have one Dani Pacheco, Robinson, Spearing, etc that fails than to bring Degens, Koscienlys, Poulsens, etc. Far cheaper, profitable and long term intelligent

Agree5 Disagree0

After what Costa did the other day you'd still have him, Pirate? He's by far my least favorite player; Suarez was and is an angel on the pitch compared to that guy. Every game I've ever seen him play in, he does something dirty to an opposing player.

Agree1 Disagree1

It's even worse in my book.
08-09 none.
09-10 Johnson, sterling.
10-11 Suarez. der
11-12 Hendo.
12-13 Studge, Cout.
13-14 Sakho, though with BR who knows?
14-15 too early.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are missing my point pirate. It isn't about how much money we got selling players - it is how we went about spending whatever money there where to be spend. My point is it could have been spend better. Every summer we bought players who had absolutely no positive impact on the team. You may argue that our pull isn't that strong, that we can't get the world beaters and have to go buying someone who may or may not come good. That is not excuse for speinding money on a Poulsen, Degen, Jovanovic or Konchesky though. that's just filling up space blocking for a young player from the academy. And don't say there wasn't quality in the marked and we got the best we could get. Take this summer for example. We went for Balotelli instead of Bony who's a lot better in almost every aspect. Same goes for all the other transfer windows, where a lot of players where bought in at high costs. There where quality in the market and players i am sure would have wanted to come to Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Jan 2015 09:42:06
Despite the transfer policy being awful I'd argue it has improved! But it's still awful.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2015 12:11:53
Read the comment carefully lavije and you will see the way you see things are totally wrong. We don't have the luxury of buying whoever we want just like Chelsea. You brought Poulsen as an example, who was picked by a wrong manager for Liverpool.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Jan 2015 21:20:12
Americo are you choosing players based on their character or because of their football skills? Because people were moaning about Suarez yet anyone would have him back in a snap.

Costa is by far the best striker in the EPL this year, whether you like him or not and yes I would have him in a snap.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is rodgers applying Trail and Error with Strikers and CBs?

Since he has come in

we have bought

Borini
Yesil
Strud.
Aspas
Alberto.L
Lambert
Balotelli
Origi

Now he wants Inngs.
None of above he fancies and keeps on buying more.

Same with CB.

Toure
Sakho
Illori
Lovren.

30 Jan 2015 11:08:03
tbh looks like instead of careful scouting and identifying the right players in the right positions - we just buy loads and hope some work.

Like instead of carefully aiming and taking your team to hit a bullseye in darts you just grab a handful of darts and lob them at the board - which has proven more successful for me but tends to annoy everyone near the board.

Agree4 Disagree8

I can see Liverpool going in for him, because of his age, potential and future resale value. The thing is, by doing this we are constantly stockpiling players that we don't really need. Instead of buying players that will help the team challenge now we are buying players that could end up being worth a few bob in the future. This will a) limit the chances that our youth players will get b) give Rodgers more players to work with that he doesn't want, and c) create an unhappy atmosphere with so many players not getting a chance.

I would prefer to give Sinclair a try (obviously BR would never take the risk)

Agree2 Disagree1

Nothing wrong with Ings, first top flight season in a tipped for relegation lower side and has 7 league goals.

We got anyone with that record, within a side that creates twice as many attacking chances? Anyone?

Agree2 Disagree1

I don't think I've ever seen strud play before ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

Omega_Man, Andy Carroll was similarly talked about before we signed him too. Rickie Lambert too did quite well for Southampton, who like Burnley, came up from the lower leagues. Not exact comparisons, but there are enough similarities. How did those guys do?

Agree3 Disagree1

30 Jan 2015 16:49:48
I think he is more versatile than Carroll & Lambert; I can see him as a good upgrade to Borini (his playstyle is similar borini's when he was at Roma). But I still think BR must work with what he has; we can't continue spendind and spending wrong because of the inablity of the manager & the scouts. The best for us is to wait until summer to rethink our transfers & management decisions. If we still want Ings after some offloads, It'll be ok. If in the way Sinclair, Dunn, or any other young striker gets a chance it will be even better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ings would work in our formation.
That's what annoys me about some of our signings.
Mignolet- a keeper who can't kick.
Lovren- a CB who plays on the same side as Sahko who was already here.
Lambert- not mobile enough for our system.
Balotelli- Does not fit our system.
There is a pattern developing here.
We keep buying players who were never going to fit our style of play.
Madness.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 19:28:57
To answer you AG. Carroll has a poor lifestyle for an athlete covered here many times and I can only imagine Ings a polar opposite of drinking and smoking. Homework wasn't done on Carroll looking at how it turned out.

Lambert? Lambert is 10 yrs older and cost £4m. Ings for free every day of the week

Southampton were hardly the struggling side Burnley are last season when Lambert did well.

Again, who has 7 league goals for us this season, consider our team creates much more then Burnley. If there is one, is he valued at free or tribunal minimum?

Agree1 Disagree0

To repy to you Omega Man, Carroll was used as an example of buying a player who has only played half a seasona t PL, but looked great initially. Ings is similar in that aspect.

Ings won't be a free, even int he summer. There will be a compensation which will take it very close to Lambert's fee.

Southamton were every bit the struggling side in their first season back in the PL (2 years back) like Burnley are this season and Lambert was their main man in scoring terms.

The last point cannot be argued quantitatively. While it may seem Ings will do better in a team that creates more chances, the same could have been said of Lambert or Carroll at LFC rather than Southampton or Newcastle. Again, how did that go?

With all due respect to the lad, he is decent player, but not what we need. We also have Origi coming in next season who will need time to bed in. We have too many players of this sort (good or decent but not outstanding or match winners) - Lambert, Aspas, Borini, balotelli, Origi and now Ings. Anyone stand out?

Agree1 Disagree0

Football does not work like that. Just because you score some goals for a lesser team doesn't mean you will bang them in because you have a better team behind you creating the chances. A lot of players simply can't make the step up to a bigger team. If it was the case Borini would be scoring goals for fum which isn't the case!

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 10:01:59
BBC reporting Danny Ings move with a loan back for the rest of the season, obviously, as we don't have the need for a striker right now and need more players out on loan in our push for top four also with all his champions league experience he'll be invaluable if we do reach the golden chalice again,
Im sure he's a cracking lad and he's scored goals everywhere but is this not more proof that the manager can't attract world class players?

Believable7 Unbelievable11

30 Jan 2015 13:47:14
Could we please give players a chance and not write them off because they don't cost 30m imo he is an upgrade on borini and big Ricky that's who I see him replacing in the squad good bit of business if we can do it dare I say we need 4 competent strikers sturridge, big signing in the summer?, inngs, origi, Lambert, sterling if needed that would be more than enough.

Agree3 Disagree2

Balotelli has a "world class" reputation.
I am not saying he is world class but he does not fit with the narrative you are peddling about Liverpool not being able to attract top quality talent.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 07:56:31
Anyone else worried about who Rodgers is going to drop for Sturridge. if it was me it would be Gerrard then move sterling to am. But got a feeling it will be lucas and then move Gerrard to cm and sterling to am. Hope I'm wrong

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Gerrard played for a lot of minutes against Chelsea, so.

Agree1 Disagree0

Was it not the plan to play Sturridge AND Balotelli in partnership?

then 2 need to be moved out, can we still play 343?

Agree2 Disagree5

30 Jan 2015 09:50:22
Remember Benny saying that we would revert to the diamond formation but not sure if he mentioned who would play.

Personally would just swap gerrard with sturridge and use then rotate to rest or on form. Diamond worked last season but requires 2 strikers on form (which we lack) and leaves about 4 players competing to play at the top of the diamond.

Agree0 Disagree2

30 Jan 2015 11:47:06
Could keep the shape of 343 in terms of midfield and defence but change the front 3 to an attacking midfielder playing behind 2 strikers

30 Jan 2015 12:05:34
I'd take Henderson or Gerrard out. Don't really see what the vice captain does that's so special to be honest, apart from try hard and chase down. Not calling the lad I think he's a decent player but Lucas can't be dropped surely.

Agree7 Disagree15

30 Jan 2015 12:32:37
I have never disagreed with a post more than the nonsense d-bol just spouted. Henderson is the most important player at the club end of. What a useless comment. He has 9 assists or something. Only Fabregas has more across Europe. Yeah you don't see because you need your sight checking. aboslutley shocked about self proclaimed experts know absolutley nothing about the game. Henderson is undroppable. END OF. Sorry for the rant eds but that is probably the worst post i have seen on here since you started the site. can't see what Hendo offers. You need basketball lad! Football ia just to much for you to comprehend.

Agree14 Disagree10

30 Jan 2015 13:08:02
Completely agree Red Ramsis, Hendo is our most important player in our team END OF !

Lucas & Hendo is a great central partnership, Its everything else around it that is in need of a direction from BR.

Agree6 Disagree5

Yep Hederson is captain in waiting and has for a long time been one of our strongest players. Always contributes and plays everywhere at full 100%.

Only Gerrard now is the passenger with woeful long shots off target, a pass sucess of 50% being generous and even his corners don't get past the first man. Think he should be an impact sub to rest Hendo or Lucas after 70 mins if we're on top. Or rest Coutinho or Lallana at 70 mins if we're behind. Let him finish on high impacting games for the best either way and be remembered as the all time great

Agree4 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 15:22:08
Sometimes you just got to go against the crowd. He's not the most important player Daniel Sturridge is,, because the way the manager speaks you'd think he was bigger than the club. The entire hopes and dreams of our club this season relied on one goal scorer and we've had to wait a full half season to have him back.
Stevie or Hendo for me lads sorry.
Red Ramsis you only know what Gary Neville and Carra tell you on Sky mate,,, pop down to Anfield and have a look for yourself kid and make up your own mind. This team is not going to get top 4,,, we've gone backwards from last season. It's not spouting rubbish it's an opinion mate you should get one of your own before people start calling you Gary Neville

Yes all Henderson needs to add is goals, better shooting ability, that would be the next level for him and would make him an even more inspirational driving force for the team.

Is there nobody else at the club that can do Henderson's job? his shooting is poor and his heading is poor! the miss at Chelsea summed him up for me, i know he works his socks off but is that enough to make him indispensable? as for captain i think i would prefer Skrtel, that's my opinion by the way or if it is different from yours does that mean i should stick to Basketball?

DBol its one thing to go against the crowd and have your own opinion, I respect that. But criticizing a obviously talented player like you know a good player when you see one is making you look foolish. Apart from score screamers i'm not quite sure what you want from hendo as he is as good (and in some parts of his play better) as Gerrard. "pop down to anfield kid" is that suppose to qualify your opinion, Any idiot can buy a ticket.

Time to let go of the past Gerrard is done. Hendo is the face of LFC. It may not impress you but if your a Liverpool supporter have his back like he would have yours.

that is the most hilarious nonsense ever. kid? iam 37. i don't watch sky at all because those experts know what they are told which is usually nonsense. i have been to anfield like 70 times and i have watched Henderson live plenty of times and you have to look long for a better athlete. Your answer only proves who the kid is and who actually has never watched Hendo live. YOU.

The header he missed after sprinting like 70 yards in the 117 th minute from RWB? he is forgiven for that in my book. He tried to place it because cortoius was unbeatable but the cross was to fast for that. Skrtel for captain? He is the most queit player on the pitch.

Don't cry Gary it's only an opinion. I stopped reading after ''I've been to Anfield like a billion times'' chill out it's only my opinion kid,, That's what this sites all about. I'd drop Hendo for Sturridge, you'd drop Gerrard.
Let's face it though, Brendan won't drop either will he ?

Sorry if i'm shhoting anyone down.
But why do people talk of Lukas having injury problems? Look, i know he done his knee, and that was just plain bad luck. Being Aussie, AFL is my 1st sport, and i can say its the same in all running sports. That after a knee reco players will always pick up soft tissue injuries when they get back due to favouring one leg. It happened to Lukas, but appart from them two injuries i can't remember anything that's kept him out for any prolonged period?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

It's a completely different sport Mark. I play both. football and AFL. In AFL the average player plays for 4 years. and something like 100 games. hell 200 games is a big celebration for the players that make it. In football however, you can consider your career an early ender if you don't get to 400.

Football also tends to have a lot more intricate/explosive movement, applying more pressure on the knees and ankles, as you can't just throw a ''don't argue'' at your opposition to retain posession.

I think any comparison between injuries experienced in either sports is wide of the mark. a hamstring in football probably isn't as bad as a ping in AFL, where the use of the hammy is vital

Agree2 Disagree4

Ahoy aussieMARK - I think he Premier League would be greatly enhanced by using some AFL traditions.

Mainly dressing the Referee's and Linesmen in the white coats and hats (like the butchers in Sainsburys) and making them do those strange Rock / Paper / Scissor hand gestures.

Possibly starting each game by bouncing the ball really really really high as well.

Tony "Plugger" Lockett next to Carra in the SKY studio might work

Why do they wear those white coats? They do it in GAA as well. :/ Strange.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol some good replys, the white coats are now gone in favour of high viz Tshirts.
Bobatron, point taken but it doesn't matter the sport, athletes always seem to pick up little niggles after knees. Bad luck for Lukas it was a quad that had him out for a couple of months. my point, was to try and point out that he hasn't really been that prone to injuries.

Worrying times for me in light of the fact Rodgers doesn't fancy Mario, Ricky or Fabio so plays Sterling up top on his own.
Where are the goals coming from?? Sterling hardly scores and, Lucas, Alen, Coutinho & Hendo couldn't hit a barn door.
Sturridge will need to set the world alight and stay fit for us to consider top four.
No pressure there then!

At number 6 Robbie Fowler and at number 16 Steven Gerrard.

Hey Eds,

I'm dying to know, can you give any insight into where the idea to sign Balotelli actually came from?

Thanks a bill! :=o

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't actually know mate, I have never asked.}

Thanks for reply. Hmm, get on the case! ;)

{Ed001's Note - I doubt anyone will admit it now mate.}

Was it not the Ex Man City connection who put his name forward. Fallows or Hunter?

Agree1 Disagree0

Well style wise he is wrong for us although against spurs playing with sturridge he was good so I'm prepared to wait and see.if no improvement then somebody must be held to account for it.

I can imagine the Transfer Committee meeting going something like this:

Ian Ayre - 'I hear Remy's passed his medical, I just need to tie up the paperwork and we can call the press conference.'

Brendan Rodgers - 'I'm just wondering what squad number to give him.'

Token fan on the Committee - 'He's hardly a Suarez is he?

Token Yank on the Committee - 'Yeah man, but he's only going to cost 8 million bucks. Good old John Henry's going to be pleased with that.'

Token fan - 'Until we try to sell him on for a profit, he must be nearly 30. Good old JH won't like that very much.'

Token Yank - 'But think of the profit if we can get 75 million bucks for . what's his name again?

Rodgers - I was thinking of giving him number 8 but just realised Stevie's got that.'

Token fan - 'I read in the Metro that Balotelli might be available.'

Token Yank - 'Is he of Italian / American descent? JH will like that. How much will he cost?

Ian Ayre - 'He's a world class player and will be well out of our reach at about 35 million.'

Rodgers - Just as well. I told a newspaper the other week that there was absolutely no way we would be signing Balotelli. I'd look a right tit if we went and signed him now!'

Ian Ayre - 'I wouldn't worry about that. People are used to you talking crap in interviews.'

Token fan - 'No, I heard Milan only want about 16 million because he's a pain in the arse and crap as well.'

Token Yank - '16 million bucks eh, that's interesting. Is he a bigger name than Remy?

Rodgers - 'Yeah, there's an extra 5 letters.'

Ian Ayre - The fans will be expecting a top player to replace Suarez - this guy won a title with Man City as well.'

Token Yank - 'If we get him for 16 million we just can't lose. He's only 24 and his value is sure to go up. Its a no brainer.'

Rodgers - 'What are we going to tell Remy?'

Token Yank - 'Just tell Dr Zaq to find something wrong with him. He hasn't signed anything yet, has he?'

Ian Ayre - 'No, he hasn't signed. I'm sure another club will come in for him but I'm not quite sure he's at our level.'

Rodgers - 'Yeah, that Balotelli's a very good technician.

Token fan - 'But he's a fruitcake as well!'

Rodgers - 'I'm sure I can bring him into the group and work my magic on him. Mourinho and Mancini are only amateurs at dealing with the psychology of players. Did I say he is a wonderful technician?'

Ian Ayre -'So, are we all agreed - Balotelli it is then?'

Token fan - 'Yep, we should have no trouble closing this one out, as nobody else will touch him with a barge pole.'

Token Yank - Hope so, because I hear JH is getting a bit peed off with us losing out on big name players.'

Rodgers - 'Yeah, who want big name players money.'

Ian Ayre - 'So, are we all agreed, Balotelli is the one? Ok, let's do it.

Token fan - 'Count me out.'

From reports in the summer that we were set to buy Sanchez, reliable media outlets are suggesting we're set to sign Danny Ings- then loan him back to Burnley for the rest of the season. Why?

If Rodgers thinks we need striking cover then fine but don't loan him out, Origi will be back in the summer too.

Any truth in it all eds?

Believable6 Unbelievable4

30 Jan 2015 07:07:17
Origi & Ings in the squad would be a better looking strikeforce for the future than what we have now. The club will be looking to move Borini & Balotelli on so it makes sense.

Great price to get Ings at as well, his value will increase afterwards.
