Another excellent win the boys made it look easy! Don't want to put a damper on things but I don't think we got out of 2nd gear, same with the united game, simply because we didn't need to! West ham is a potential banana skin with big Andy upfront so it's important we stay focused and take it game by game. Finally, if us and city win next week the Liverpool city game will be one for the ages.

You made us dream now make it a reality.

Just want to say, if Liverpool do win the league and it's a big IF, how much of a big win for English football it would be. Also if we do win it, can we please be humble in victory. A lot of good teams have made what the premier league is today and has been this season and that goes to utd as well. As much as some teams are bad losers and they are bad winners, we are not the same.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Humble haha.
Its long awaited bragging rights my friend!
You owe it to yourself to let every opposition fan know it was us who won the league.

Personal message to Ken Aguero.

Could you please send your lucky underpants to Dagenham Gunner, care of, www.football-rumours.co.uk.

Now, there's a sentence I never thought I would ever write, lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi Dags,

You know I'd love to help your boys (Arsenal) out, but these lucky pants are my most treasured possession right now. I'm even thinking of sticking them on the house insurance.
I've got my wash cycles all planned out with military precision so that the lucky pants are fresh and ready for every remaining match.
I have a ritual for the donning of the lucky pants. There is a routine I have to go through to ensure the luck is active on the day. It's a bit like Vic Reeves on Shooting Stars when he sees a pretty lady. Not quite as creepy though.
Best of luck for the last 6 matches and the cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ahaha. the lucky underpants is amazing.

I don't get to enough games to profess to be an expert. But to turn it round from calls to leave Gerrard out of the team earlier in the season by some posters, to now everyone hoping and praying for him to avoid a tenth yellow just shows how he has adapted to his new role. Cream rises.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes accy, it's funny how we have managed to carry a tactically naive ageing captain who should only be used sparingly coming on for the last 30 minutes in a game because the opposition will be tiring and yet we have still managed to end up top of the league. But remember accy, goals and assists from set plays or pens don't really count so don't start throwing facts and figures at me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good call. I was one of them. I just couldn't see how it would work. I didn't think Stevie had the right defensive positional sense. Rodgers master stroke without doubt. Credit also to the way he's handled Sterling and the interchanging midfield play. Looking at the way Palace beat Chelsea, we'll need to play with width like we did today. Looking back, the Mignolet penalty save against Stoke first game of the season was a marker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed my man, granted Gerrard had a few tough games adapting to the role (Villa when he was man marked etc) but he has done a fantastic job in it. Brings a calmness and assuring quality to midfield. Well in Stevie!

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree. I joked around earlier in the season saying we should play Stevie centre back,, I figured he could just hit 60 yard passes from there in acres of space with nobody closing him down, but Masterstroke by Rodgers that's kinda what he does. Drops inbetween Agger and Skirts from DM,, and just sprays passes inch perfect. Not only that though he's in great shape blocking everything, not bad for a old bloke who's passed it

It was great to win so convincingly today, as I thought it could be a difficult fixture.

I'm confident about the City and Chelsea games for 2 reasons. Firstly, the team and the crowd will be really up for both, like the old Champions League days under Rafa. Secondly, both are ex-clubs of Daniel Sturridge and I think he will bust a gut to prove a point to them.

People seem to be worried about the West Ham game and it won't be easy, as Carroll will no doubt be out to prove a point to us. However, I still fancy a win - I watched them last week against Moyeschester United and hoped they could cause an upset. United won quite comfortably, and we know how poor they are. So there is no reason why we can't do the same.

Whatever happens from now on in, it has been a great season. It would be special to win it in the year of the 25th Hillsborough Anniversary and I'm sure 96 souls will be doing all they can to make it happen.

Read my previous posts, believe and support, there is something going on. Supported since 1972 season. Home and away. There is something happening under Rodgers. Cannot put my finger on it but it is there. I know it's not done yet but there is a belief. We know it but dare not say it, the players know but now is the time to keep working hard. Suarez had that look when he scored the second goal. Let's keep it going. This is not just a league title, this is a way of life for us old timers. Let's keep the noise up and defeat the opposition every game. We are all in this together and let us show the world that, WE ARE LIVERPOOL, tra, la la la

As I am old git I remember 1987 when I was at Anfield and we won the league by beating spurs 1-0. Today reminded me so much of the that day, the weather the day and more so the atmosphere and the tingle in the body to hear the old songs again - were going to win the league and the greatest team in football etc.
Today was the Anfield I remember and the one I tell my boy about and the one I missed so much. The team is so similar, fast great to watch and fearless in attack, I posted on the site when Rodgers was appointed that I had watched a few Swansea games and was so impressed how the team played and how he conducted himself and thought Rodgers was a perfect fit for Liverpool.
We are on the up once more and long may it last, whatever happens from now in we have been given a hell of a ride and the club once more are the envy of the league and long may it last.

Top Class Well done lads.

PS
Sterling is a young John Barnes

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great post

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more, first thing I said when I got home was the atmosphere and momentum today reminded me so much of the mid to late Eighties.

Can't put my finger on it exactly, but there was just a feeling and a buzz about the place that I haven't felt for a long time.

Rodgers is creating something special.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post with an honest reflection

Evered, you've got your years mixed up there mate. The match you're referring to was April 1988.

That was like a training exercise.

Henderson, amazing yet again, turning into a top top player.

The little one, twos and back heels, scoops and flicks are to much for anyone to handle, to much movement too keep an eye on!

Great to watch.

Liverpool fans, dare to dream. It's your time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed mate Henderson has been excellent and has developed fantastically. He is a leader and what impresses me even more is his defensive qualities.

Great reader of the game and always, always fills in the spaces in the back 4, saw that countless times today when Johnson was up the pitch and when Skrtel was pulled wide, he was always filling the gaps.

Great player and vital to the dynamic of the team.

I was thinking during the game about a game I watched in July. Against Melbourne. Luis was skulking around looking miserable etc. if I had been told we would be top going into April and Suarez would have 29 lge goals I would have thought the person telling me was bonkers. I said to chap with me that Suarez would never play for us again. How wrong I was
So all credit to Bren, owners and Suarez.

I know we are in it and looking back is useless but I just thought it was funny

Eds do you have any info on Joe Hart, I read a few places city want to off load him. Have Liverpool shown
any interest? He is technically a better keeper than
Mingulet and would be better in champs league and a deal could be partly payed for by the sale of Reina and Mingulet. Seems to me it could be a good one for LFC.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is a bitch - top of the league and the players are still not good enough.}

Always room for improvement ed. That said I prefer mignolet over punch happy hart

West ham away, toughie
City
Norwhich away
Chelsea
Palace away
Newcastle

Newcastle should have little to play for, but apart from that i'm as worried about the three away games as the big two! I'm not daring to dream, I'm just nervous as hell!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Suarez seems to like Norwich. Nothing will stop us if we have to beat newcastle on last day. My fear is west ham. Big Sam loves ol whiskey nose. Got stick off own fans so will have developed a siege mentality. Andy Carroll like a bulldozer with a drunk at the controls. And that pesky kevin nolan. He will either score or end up getting stevie g booked. I am saying this because I get most things wrong and ergo it won't happen!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes it's a very tough run in. We looked a bit tired towards the end today and a week's rest will be very valuable. The press are going to be piling the pressure on LFC now and let's hope BR can keep everybody's feet on the ground and look to getting 3 points at West Ham. Will be a very tough game with Downing and Carroll looking to prove a point to BR

I'm just wondering, if we got 14 points from the available 18 could that do us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Mar 2014 20:40:00
We must beat city, to stop them getting 3 points.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like it depends if we beat both city and chelsea we can win it by dropping points but if we loose to either a them we will find it hard

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the 14 points could do it Chris. However, I think they would have to include at least 4 points from the City/Chelsea games.

30 Mar 2014 20:02:56
In the interest of staying grounded, how many more wins guarantees us 4th? And then 3rd? I know we can only guess but let's assume everybody wins the next few games.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Top 4 is done in my opinion on 71pts and six games to play. We are now in place to have a good crack at the top 3 and see where it takes us. April now determines our chance for the title and WE ARE STILL IN IT!!

Absolutely breathtaking football! 8 wins in a row! Totally dominant against a spurs side shot of confidence from the very first minute. Skrtel was a rock in defence, Johnson was so comfortable against Chadli, and Suarez - what a goal! Absolutely top-class! But my MotM has to be Raheem Sterling - pure adrenaline pumping and totally unplayable! Yes, next season CL is definitely secured. As for the title? We are top of the league, say we are top of the league!

I honestly don't see why people think the pressure is on Liverpool in the run in. Yes its in our hands and yes we don't have the experience to cope with the pressure, but at the end of the day, we weren't expecting to win the league. At the start of the season our aim was to get as close to top 4 as possible, anything more is a bonus! So no matter what happens Ill be proud of the lads, as long as we finish top 4. We have a great chance of winning the league, but at the end of the day, are we really ready? If we win it, then its an unreal achievement, if not, its not the end of the world, especially if we see those special European nights return to Anfield! Que sera, sera.

We are Liverpool, Tra la la la la!

Come on lads! Make us dream!
Cheers,
ROI.

im sorry to be the bearer of bad news. but the biggest disadvantage for Liverpool is playing last

they have never handled the pressure when there's a possibility to go infront

they are always best playing catch up with zero expectancy

and spurs will definitely gain points today because I feel lfc will be nervous defensively and will concede goals today like nearly every game with this winning run

i think most fans here are dismissing spurs way to easily and you will be very unhappy after today but
just remember Liverpool are in a great position to finish third. they still have super tough games away at palace and west ham. with 2 home hard games. so come on guys relax with your expectations.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

We played last against Man Utd, Stoke, Swansea, Sunderland and won all of those games.
We have battled our way back to the top after losing to Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
I really don't agree with your argument.
Yes Spurs will be hard but to say they will definitely gain points is ludicrous.
We have got it all to play for.
Support the team!
(if Liverpool ARE the team you support)

Red lobster is a manu fan flidby! he's on our page because there's nothing to cheer about on his own.Commmmeee onnnnnnn youuuuuu redddddddsssssss

Looking forward to the Bayern match lobster?

I am ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

We will defo win now. He does this every big game and we always win! Cheers lobster ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank goodness for that! I thought you were not going to post Red Lobster. I feel so much better now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol lobster, we aren't expecting to win it - we're frankly more startled in this amazing position we are in as I'm sure you are about both Liverpool's and man utd's league positions. As for the pressure of playing last I would have agreed with you any other season other than this . no matter the result today I know at least my team is going to give everything today and that is good enough for me

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok I was completely wrong .

But FYI . For the hundredth time
I am a lobster and not a Manchester United supporter

Agree0 Disagree0

Red lobster.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can you come on here for the remaining 6 games and give your predictions that we are going to drop points. because we always seem to get 3 points and an easy victory when you do.
Your negativity is as lucky for us as Ken's pants.

Hi eds hope alls well.

with paulinho coming out saying he's not happy with lack of game time at spurs, you reckon we will show any interest in summer or you think he will stay put?

cheers lads

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Paulinho won't be moving to Liverpool this summer.}

30 Mar 2014 13:07:54
Paulinho isn't good enough for us. He is very slow, Dead slow

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sorry Harry, but I reckon he is pretty quick.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not pauliniho, sandro or dembele maybe

Agree0 Disagree0

Paulinho is probably quicker than Lucas, Allen and maybe gerrard?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2014 20:08:16
Harry is right he is far too slow for us he would slow are fast attacks down and the element of surprise taken out of r play going forward not good enough wouldn't swap him for r super Brazilians counting, Lucas.

Eds fellow reds, hope the fans are on Annie road before game cheering the coach again like Sunderland game, do they taunt away coach or not? Think would be good idea for spurs bus get into them straight away .

Got a good feeling for 3 points today but another tight game a bit like the Sunderland match.

Come on you Reds!

PLEASE. let's not start getting carried away.
Yes. Its now in our hands.
Yes. All we have to do is win our remaining games.
But as Chelsea found out yesterday its easy to slip.
I have been saying it since January.
ONE GAME AT A TIME!
That's all we can do.
Get spuds game out of the way today, see where we are and then concentrate on West Ham.
It's great to dream and I more than most am beginning to get excited.
But anything can happen. These teams at the bottom are fighting and fighting hard for points and it is not going to be easy.
Lets keep our heads now guys and let's not carried away till its in the bag.
Good luck to the boys this afternoon.

Massive game today I just hope the lads can handle the pressure, not only are Spurs chasing top four but they'l be looking for a bit of revenge after that humiliation at white hart lane. Sherwood is tying his hand at mind games and if his brain was as quick as his mouth Tottenham would be chasing the title too, instead he sets his team out wide open hoping for the best. The weekend has gone perfect so far for Liverpool with any title rivals dropping points, this afternoon is the chance to take control of the title race.

Anyone think Lukaku would be a good signing? I think under Rodgers he could become a terrific player. not sure how he'd fit in to the formation tho.

Would be fantastic for us to go on and win the title, a fitting tribute to the 96 on the tragic 25th Anniversary.

We are Liverpooooollll tra la la la.

Kosovo Joe

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ur not sure how he'd fit in to the formation, how is he a good signing then?

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh no not Lukaku again

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see it happening but would be a cracking signing :)

Agree0 Disagree0

As in he is a good player and has great potential = Great signing: However, would he play up top with Sturridge and Suarez off him = not sure how he would fit in directly.

Kosovo Joe

Agree0 Disagree0

He wouldn't fit into the current squad as we have better options already. Also I'm not sure he would suit our style of play anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is a very good player, but wouldn't suit our style.

I wonder what YNWAdam thinks? ;-)

HI Guys

A Gooner in peace

I think you have a great chance of winning the league but feel you have to get at least a point against Chelsea but 3 from M City .

No slip ups today please :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hope we smash spurs as a present for you gooners who come here! also for taking points from city yesterday!

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea would be hard to crack, Best offense vs Best defense, City would go either way. could see at-least 4 goals inside 45 mts.

Eds, reds,

Long time reader 1st time poster. First up want to say let's smash the spuds today! If you told me we would be in this position end of season I would of bit your arm off! (Suarez style)

After a conversation yesterday I studied the table to see what Liverpool have actually achieved so far, and what can be achieved over the coming weeks.

We have officially achieved a top 7 finish so far, it is now mathematically impossible for 8th (Southampton) to catch us

we need to gain 5 points on utd (either by us winning them or them dropping them) to achieve a top 6 finish for the 1st time in 5 years! This would also confirm European football next season and be our first finish above the mancs in god knows how long! Keep up the good work moyes!

For top 5 we need to gain 10 points on spurs, a win today would be a swing of 6 points (a real 6 pointer) leaving us with just 4 to gain over the rest of the season.

There is still a pretty long way to go with securing top 4 yet, so as rogers says one game at time

However it's nice to believe ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Welcome to the family mate
A great summary there but correct me if I am wrong but I believe we finished sixth in the 2010-2011 campaign

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank you :)

Was that rafa's last season?
I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure we were 7th as villa pipped us to 6th

Agree0 Disagree0

God almighty. Them were the days when the likes of Villa were pipping us to 6th or 7th or whatever!
Good post tho.
I think it reflects the thinking of a lot of us . we're so used to finishing as also rans that it's quite difficult to take in our current position (tho we are undoubtedly there on merit). All the same it's hard to believe we are actually in a title hunt! I still keep looking at Spurs And Everton and counting their points to see weather they can catch us for 4th spot.
Brendan Rodgers is a genius.

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally want Everton to continue doing well (horrible to say and admit) because one of city's games in hand is away to Everton very close to end of season. If Everton are still in the hunt for a champs league spot then they will have real incentive to try and win that game.
And possibly hand us the title ;)

First off all happy mother's day to the moms that are either with us or not. I know my Mom will be looking down cheering on the mighty reds today. The nerves are starting already today but always confident under Rodgers. I just hope Stevie G doesn't get booked and we score 5 in 20 mins just to calm the nerves lol. Any win will do come on redmen.

Banter please Eds

Up at the crack of Dawn,, can't sleep, why don't they put the clocks forward 12 hrs instead of just 1.

Tough game again today, the spuds will still be peeling from the 5-0 annihilation served up to them down the lane.

Roasted or Boiled?, I can't make my mind up, jersey reds though for sure.

Mothers day today, I said to the wife, put your feet up Dawn luv, adjust the board, you must be able to iron sitting down!

Wow! The impossible dream is possible.
All I want to say is no matter what happens in the next 7 games it has been a great season.

But a big wish for now, is a fantastic atmosphere, generated by fans who can just enjoy how well the team is doing and not translate any nerves or pressure to the players. I am sure there will be tense moments in the last 4 home games especially if we are chasing the game to equalise or win. It will be at this time the Anfield faithful need to bury any anxiety and just chant and cheer the boys on.
Meanwhile. I'll be nervous as hell watching at midnight, not trying to wake the family in Aus.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Same here mate hate the late games with misses and lil one asleep,

Least I get left alone ha

We are the 12th Man, come on boys make it count tomorrow & the remaining 6 games afterwards let's create the European atmosphere.

Every man, beast, boy make your voice count. Come on you redmen!
