Well Ian Ayre didn't last long, what barely a month before he resigned, he ain't trying to come back to us is he.

Worst run club in German football, according to one quote.
Oh dear!

30 May 2017 20:23:44
I'd be lying if I said I'd seen a lot of Solanke! I've seen him once in a youth game and he scored twice.

That isn't why I'm pleased though. I wasn't even looking out for him, I think it was probably Ake after Ed002 described him as a top talent.

I am pleased because Chelsea fans are going nuts. When a clubs fans are angry about losing someone it usually means they are a good player. None of us would bat an eyelid if Moreno left, but if Coutinho left we'd be up in arms, truth be told.

Either way, welcome to LFC Dom.

30 May 2017 22:22:54
Clearly he's a good player otherwise Chelsea wouldn't have offered him a new contract. I work with some Chelsea fans and they've all said he is a great prospect and that he never got a chance hence why they weren't surprised that he has decided to leave.

30 May 2017 19:22:41
Anyone think it was worth a punt for Begovic? £10m to Bournemouth looks a good deal.

Believable6 Unbelievable9

30 may 2017 19:55:04
closer to £15 is what i'm reading. he went to chelsea in full knowledge that he would be on the bench. i don't trust any player who would move from a starting spot in a prem team completely knowing that he'd hardly get any football.

30 May 2017 21:07:54
£££££££££££££££££.

31 May 2017 07:00:02
Does he have premier league medal now? if yes pretty much worth it.

01 Jun 2017 11:25:23
I don't think he'd be any improvement on what we have at the moment, especially after 2 seasons of riding the pine.

30 May 2017 18:11:05
Hi ed,

Are we interested in dembele of Celtic.
Do we have a chance.

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed007's Note - No.}

30 May 2017 20:08:15
Yes, No?
or
No, Yes?
or
No, No?

{Ed033's Note - All of the above 😋.

31 May 2017 08:23:01
How about no but, no but, no but, no but, yes? 😂.

30 May 2017 18:28:46
Hi eds, what's the situation with Ings at the moment? Is it looking like he will have a future at the club when he is fit or do you think he'll be moved on/ loaned out?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - far too early to say. It would be pure guesswork. Once preseason starts there will no doubt be a chance for the club to look at him and make a decision on what to do with him next season.}

30 May 2017 19:53:48
I fear for ings if I'm being honest. If he can get himself fit then a loan would be best all round in my opinion because as things stand I can't see him being any better than 4th choice and the lad needs games after his 2 years if hell.

31 May 2017 01:43:20
I really do not see a future for Ings at LFC. He is probably 6-8 months away from finding his feet after such a lengthy layoff, and a lot will happen this summer and maybe even January. Solanke probably takes Ings place as our backup striker from season after next onwards.

30 May 2017 18:24:30
hi ed01, hope you're well mate. 2 questions if i may. what are your views on solanke as a player and does this mean the end for Studge, Origi or Ings or am i looking into this too much?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - from what I have seen Solanke looks a good player, I am worried about the demands he was making of Chelsea and hope we have not gone down the road of giving in to any of those. As for Studge etc, it is not relevant, their futures never came down to who we signed or didn't sign.}

30 May 2017 18:38:29
did you see the apology the daily telegraph printed as he didn't ask for £50k it was all fabricated (he probably only asked for £49k haha)?!?! cheers for the response and for all the work you and the other eds do.

{Ed001's Note - it was not as simple as it was all fabricated. His advisors did ask for more than Chelsea were willing to pay, Telegraph just made up what the amount was. You are welcome mate.}

30 May 2017 21:37:18
Isn't it the advisors job to push the boat out and try get their client more than what the club is offering?!

{Ed001's Note - the advisor's job is to get the best deal possible, that is not necessarily more than the club is offering. Money should not even involved when you are his age, with that much to prove and already you are set for life. It should be all about getting games.}

30 May 2017 17:42:20
So Solanke is confirmed, happy that we've signed a highly rated youngster on a "free transfer" early on. Although hopefully we're not paying too much in wages since that was why Chelsea were willing to let him go.

Also, does anyone know what the plans are for him? Is he going to be integrated into the first-team squad, play for the U23s or go out on loan?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

30 May 2017 18:15:32
Suggestions it is £20k a week, playing in the U23's with cup games to give him a chance to break into the first team.

30 May 2017 19:46:27
I read up to £3 million he will cost.

30 May 2017 20:44:35
Not saying it's a bad signing but 20k a week still seems a bit steep to me.

30 May 2017 21:42:54
20k a week seems like a lot?

I think you might want to take a look at what tje rest of he squad are earning!

30 May 2017 23:54:18
I appreciate that it's not much in today's game but it just seems to me that you don't have to do too much to justify what to me seems a lot of money.
I also hope it's in line with the rest of the U23's that are in and around the first team squad.

30 May 2017 17:17:32
Liverpool have agreed a press contract agreement with Dominic Solanke.

Good or bad signing?

Believable10 Unbelievable0

30 May 2017 17:34:05
Good for me. For the money it's worth a gamble. He looks like he has the build to be a decent striker, strong and quickish. If he takes his opportunity and gets his head down could be a bargain.

30 May 2017 17:43:09
Good signing, think he will write some cracking articles.

30 May 2017 17:46:52
I think that's a good pr move by the club. Most of our players talk a lot of rubbish to the press. Most notably lallana who instead of letting football do the talking, he is always there waiting for the press. Just recently Mk scouser was complaining about Migs. I think Solanke will solve such problems.

30 May 2017 18:09:09
Looks like a junior studger.

30 May 2017 19:54:35
I don't know a lot about solanke and hopefully he'll turn out a good signing,

My question is he better than our own u23 strikers? Who the club has put time and money into developing them.

Them young lads must be gutted seeing Solanke come in and most likely be ahead of them in the pecking order,

30 May 2017 19:57:46
id love to know how solanke will solve such problems as talking to the press although the thought of him patrolling up and down the press area with a piece 2 by 4 intimidating lallana and migs into careful consideration before spouting off nonsense i overlooked this signing i thought was a promising striker but turns out he's actually a enforcer who will keep all mouthy players at the club in check.

30 May 2017 17:17:11
With the signing of Solanke Imininent is our interest in Brereton over?

Believable5 Unbelievable2

30 May 2017 16:33:31
Could Marhez be a viable option now that he has requested to leave Leceister or do you consider him to be more trouble than he's worth? Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable12

30 May 2017 16:52:28
Hope not personally. We have Sadio Mané for the right wing. Mahrez rarelys plays on the left and so I don't see him getting in our team. Don't want us to continue to buy players for the substitutes bench.

30 May 2017 16:59:18
Can you see him pressing? Love his talent but unsure of his work ethic.

30 May 2017 19:53:10
Mahrez tho a great player, is not someone I would touch as his attitude is not the best in fact, I would not touch any of the LC players cos of that. Besides, he plays on the left where mane (the better player, IMO) is the starter so he would not be playing on the left hence, no need for him.

30 May 2017 15:13:13
G'day Eds,
So, with Sessegnon seemingly joining Spurs I'm guessing we'll move for Tymon. Can I ask if any of you know anything about him? I see he played in a back 3 for England U18s recently. Less of an attacker than Sessegnon? Solid defender? Highly rated? Any tid-bits would be much appreciated.
Thanks a mil.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I know nothing about him sorry. Never seen the lad play.}

30 May 2017 17:30:15
Very quick.

30 May 2017 17:45:11
Is this Tymon of AEK Athens?

{Ed001's Note - Hull City.}

30 May 2017 15:13:42
I think danny ward should join Huddersfield permanently, he has had a superb season but let's be honest he faces a impossible task in dislodging mignolet or karius, goalkeepers need to play regularly he does not deserve to come back as 3rd choice, if I was klopp I would sell him to Huddersfield, the same goes for ryan kent who has had a productive loan spell at Barnsley and is now attracting interest from other clubs, if they don't have a cat in hells chance in making it with us, the kindest thing we can do for them is to let them go elsewhere and have a career in the game.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

30 May 2017 15:48:11
I was hoping Huddersfield would win yesterday and one of the reasons was that now Ward can be loaned back for the coming season in the prem. A year in the top league would be far better for him development wise. Think he'll be a great ssset for him n the coming season and it's a win win situation for player, club and Huddersfield in my opinion.

30 May 2017 16:03:34
I think we should do a 1yr loan for Ward - I expect if Karius isn't playing regularly he'll want out, and likewise Migs won't be happy being second choice for long either. Ward if he does well could easily be our second pick goalkeeper by next season.

30 May 2017 16:15:12
goalkeepers want to be 1st choice, they don't like sitting on the bench.

30 May 2017 16:27:42
and the Eds have already said that Huddersfield are looking for a permanent keeper.

30 May 2017 16:40:17
Kingkenny, no player should like sitting on the bench.

Keepers are no exception though.

30 May 2017 16:44:44
Kingkenny, imagine Chelsea sold courtois permanently after the loan spell?
Another loan spell is what is perfect for liverpool at this point, he could easily turn out to be far better than migs and that other German goal keeper (who everybody thinks is the next de gea) after next season.

30 May 2017 17:01:08
Dont think I would fancy going into the PL and knowing my GK would have to miss 2 games.

30 May 2017 17:29:57
I think we'll probably use one keeper for league ant the other for cups and CL next season. Guessing Migs- league, Karius- cups and CL. Ward I like a lot. Hope for another year loan at Huddersfield and a real shot for him at LFC in 18/ 19 if he proves himself at at PL level.

30 May 2017 19:55:28
African Red, the diff. is that Courtois was already earmarked to replace Cech and he used his long loan spell at Atleti to hone his skills. Also remember that Courtois threatened not to come to Chelsea in 2014 after his loan spekll if Cech would still be first choice hence, Mou buckled and played him first with Cech on the bench before he left for Arsenal in 2015.

Ward will not be doing any of what Courtois did and I think a loan or outright sale would be the best cos Klopp will not be ditching Karius and Migs will be here next season.

30 May 2017 15:10:10
Saw a lot of talk on the Echo after signing Solanke to the effect that "this is a joke signing because we've been linked with £50m players and only signed a kid for £3m"
People need to get a grip. Calm down! This is the first signing of the summer. Save your criticism (or heaven forbid, praise) for the end of the window!
Similarly to posters below fretting about how many of our targets we are going to get. Take a deep breath and chill. JK got things mostly right last summer. Our days of buying inappropriate players because we can't get our main targets (Benteke) are over. FSG have consistently backed our manger. This will be a good summer; wait and see.

Believable12 Unbelievable1

30 May 2017 15:43:00
Isn't Solanke a signing for our u23s initially? Why are people moaning about him? He could well come in handy in a couple of years if Ings never recovers completely from his injuries. Instead of wasting more money on Ings in a few years time, we could have a ready made replacement in Solanke waiting in the wings eager to prove his worth.

30 May 2017 19:56:32
Exactly, IB and Andy. The rush of blood to the brain that seems to engulf some of the posters on here is becoming embarrassing. Nowhere have I seen that Solanke would be in the first team so don't know what they are moaning about. Also, Solanke left a club where they couldn't be bothered about giving youth a chance, to a club where if he does his job and keeps his head down, he will get his chance (s) like Woodburn, Ojo and Gomez have. Everyone just chill out and enjoy the summer cos it will be exciting.

30 May 2017 14:18:43
So Solanke to sign for us, who won't extend Chelski contract. Anyone seen him play? Is he any good?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

30 May 2017 14:28:09
He is one of the brightest talents in English football, have broken all sorts of records scoring goals for chelsea's youth teams.

30 May 2017 16:28:46
Like Carra did when he was a lad :D.

30 May 2017 18:46:03
Maybe he's the answer to our centre back problems?

30 may 2017 14:12:39
when i read the headline in the echo:'liverpool to make their first signing of the summer' i got excited only to feel underwhelmed when i read that it was a player for the under23s.

Believable2 Unbelievable16

30 May 2017 14:24:18
Correct me if I'm wrong but, if he does sign for us, it has to be as a first team player due to our little error of judgement and subsequent ban on signing youth players?

30 May 2017 14:28:59
He most def. was NOT signed for the u-23's, that's one of the reasons behind him leaving chelsea in the first place, because of limited 1st team chances and wage disputes.

30 May 2017 14:47:53
Tristan, we would not be banned from signing him because he is over 16/ 17, and so can sign a professional contract.

Same reason why we would be able to sign Sessegnon who just turned 17 (that is if he doesn't go to Spurs as seems highly likely) .

30 May 2017 15:07:00
Cheers JR, that clears that up. I wasn't 100% on the ruling.

30 May 2017 13:03:47
The transfer window is not officially open yet and already every possible media outlet has filled the hope void in my body with severe scepticism.

Deepite what anyone says, let us consider that four targets of ours were Van Dijk, Brandt, Sessegnon and Keita. Virgil is seemingly Chelsea's top target so let's wipe him off the list; Brandt wants assurances over playing time, something I am unsure whether LFC can provide him, so 50/ 50 (? ) ; Sessegnon is seemingly off to Tottenham, whilst not a vital move tin the current period of time, there is the opinion that he will become a very, very good left back, so possible future regret. Though in his position he may not want to move far from home so you cannot fully blame LFC there. Keita says he is happy at RBL and they are not looking to sell, unless it is for a heft fee. This leaves me, and no doubt many others confused as to actually where we are taking this transfer window. With the EDs saying we're not looking for a CB which is n absolutely huge mistake if so, I even doubt Matip to be honest. . I can't say I actually 100%believe in Klopp transfer wise, I love Gini but he often goes missing in games outside of the top 6.Obviously Mane is a complete hit, so i'll reserve my full judgements for now.

Anyway, I don't really know where was going with this but I just don't see us having as successful a window as people think we will. By September i think we'll all be a little disappointed from the targets being touted and money being suggested we possess. Does anyone else have the same thoughts or am i just a pessimistic lone wolf?

Believable4 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will look for a centre back if someone is sold. There is interest in Gomez.}

30 May 2017 13:34:04
Should keep Gomez and sell lovren.

30 May 2017 13:35:35
Sue. I 100% with you. Good post.

30 May 2017 14:30:33
Keep Gomez and sell Lovren'? LOL ok. People seriously play too much fifa or FM and think Gomez who has not played a game in a year is better than Lovren who just signed a 100 000 £ deal. Get over it, Lovren is obviously going nowhere soon! Sounds like Ilori the saviour!

30 May 2017 14:31:47
Sue, 0 % with you. Bad post.

30 May 2017 14:56:26
Shiisha, that's fine if you're against my thoughts. However, i never said keep Gomez and sell Lovren. I'd be against that since Gomez is unproven. Although, if what Eds said is the truth, then I truly hope we bin Lovren or Klavan to get someone better in.

30 May 2017 14:59:58
I think you have to give the players we have at the club already a lot more credit. Lovren is a decent enough defender. Yes there are better but not that many massively who would warrant is going out and spending 50 million on one. Don't get me wrong I'd love an upgrade but VVD will make mistakes too, everyone does, and he seems to be the best available according to all. Full backs and a left sided attacker is where we have proper room to improve and where we are trying to. All other positions more options/ cover of the quality we have already would be decent as I don't see klopp leaving out mane, cout, firmino, lallana for anyone.

30 May 2017 16:04:55
Gomez looked a very good prospect before he got injured.

30 May 2017 16:10:29
Kopdog, Lovren is far too error prone for me. He constantly is being caught out of position or even just missing a tackle, which we saw against Middlesborough. Whilst 50 million is seemingly a lot, I think you no doubt have to consider the horrendously inflated market for good players and if i were a senior member of LFC a decent CB is needed. Maybe even a whole new back four, though i'd be happy to persevere with Clyne for the time being. As for midfield, I think we simply have to replace Henderson, i love him when he's playing but how often is that. His heel is a huge problem, sadly. I think we need a defensive midfielder quite badly. Even if lucas stays, and god knows he's showed great loyalty but again, for me he simply is not good enough. Can has come into his own of late but obviously the question of consistency is there. i think the consistency question lays heavily on Coutinho and Firmino too, so this coming season will be extremely telling. I don't really know how i'd answer that, so i'll reserve judgement until the end of next season. I. e Lallana, i think Klopp would leave him out if he got 'his man' so to speak, though i am unsure who that may be, perhaps same with forming too. Who am I to know though.

30 May 2017 16:16:50
That's quite a depressing outlook to be honest - lots of options beyond those 4, what about Pereira, Luan, Keita and others being looked at?

In addition I honestly don't think we're a mile away from where we need to be next season as it is - signings are great but we don't need to strengthen in more than 2-3 positions with any urgency.

For me a new LB is a must, but if we get one (Pereira would be great) then Milner can also play RB and/ or TAA get some game time.

A new LW would be very helpful, but even if we can't find one, we would hopefully still have a great LB to create width (and Coutinho at LW isn't the end of the world! )

I do agree a new CB would be important as Lovren and Matip are just about OK but we lack depth and proven quality in the position behind them.

Anything else is a luxury IMO.

30 May 2017 16:39:56
Let's all get depressed because we haven't spent £200 million since the last kick of the season.
Or would people be happier if we just made a series of quick expensive deals on utter dross?

30 May 2017 12:49:34
Any truth we have ended all interest in Sessegnon.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

30 May 2017 14:32:24
THe kid is 17 and by all accounts prefers to play CB! He won't do anything for Liverpool even if signed!

30 May 2017 11:34:27
So keita is happy where he is and sessegnon prefers Tottenham. Haha let's hope we have better luck with our other targets. What if we were going for world class players, we would be screwed lol.

Believable6 Unbelievable13

30 May 2017 12:31:58
The sooner everyone realises we're not dining at the top table, the better.

30 May 2017 12:42:27
Nice to see the positive vibes gents!

30 May 2017 12:55:12
Have both players actually said that?

30 May 2017 12:56:57
Not got a great deal of confidence in the new bloke edwards who has been put in charge of tranfers. just how much experience does he have with transfer negotiations. isn't it the definition of madness doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Parry purslow and ayres. and now edwards let's hope he proves me wrong.

{Ed002's Note - Maybe some sort of Eddie the Eagle out campaign should be started on Facebook?}

30 May 2017 14:18:39
Apparently we are signing dominic solanke, with regard to sessegnon that was journo rumours and chatter on these pages but keita has definitely come out and said he wants to play champs league with his current team. Combined with the fact they don't want to sell it will be extremely difficult. We do not pay over the odds our left back debacle last window is testement to that so can't see it happening im afraid.

30 May 2017 14:33:27
Is the transfer window closing tomorrow? Its hasen't even offically opened yet! Bunch of cry babies.

30 May 2017 15:37:54
Dont see anyone crying just offering opinions, maybe you should comprehend the posts before replying with unwity soundbites.

30 May 2017 16:18:31
The negativity from some people on here just a few days after the window has opened is depressing!

30 May 2017 16:57:59
Take deep breath shiisha and see what comes down the pipe 😉.

30 May 2017 19:49:41
Sorry but I did not know that a 17 year old LB from the Championship or a very good midfielder from the German new comers to the Bundesliga after one season (regardless of his talent) were already being considered as top players. I guess I must have missed the new definition of what a top player should be.

30 May 2017 04:03:18
Sorry eds I also included in asking stupid question if you have time I m on west ham page and a poster Ironmike have some knowledge of their transfer. He said LFC is looking at yacin behrami of porto and in negotiations. Is it true Eds.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - No.}

30 May 2017 08:08:25
I know the eds have said we not looking at a centre half unless one of our current crop leaves. my guess is one is going because bookies are convinced we are getting van dyke? Any of the eds heard anything new regarding van dyke because according to the bookies we odds on getting him and Chelsea. and mancs are slipped right out of the betting . I know it's only betting and nothing is nailed on just I always have a gander what's the odds on players going to different clubs are😉 Just thought the change in the betting today regarding van dyke was a bit strange. cheers if you reply 👍.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

30 May 2017 09:32:05
I hope not. I cannot cope with people spelling a 4 letter name wrong! Sorry to be a Dijk about spelling!

30 May 2017 09:45:54
good for people to consult these pages before they waste money on those lines! Not saying it's you! but I imagine the betting agencies make a killing out of fans who follow the daily rags before laying on a few quid.

30 May 2017 10:54:27
Sirry aboot me spelin bud 👍My bad lol.

30 May 2017 11:24:11
Haha, I was only winding you up buddy.

In all seriousness though, I am not over ward by Van Dijk, Luan or Demarai Gray.

I like Mendy, Sessegnon, Pereira, Brandt, Malcom and Keita though. Even Chamberlain if used correctly can be an asset. Cannot expect to love all of our targets every summer though. We just have to trust Klopp I guess. He has done well enough so far!

30 May 2017 13:21:31
Think dijk could offer us something from corners up other end of the field because as it stands it pointless having them at the minute lol 😂 I agree with you about the rest of the players we linked with tho 👍.

30 May 2017 19:50:30
Sorry but the likes of Ox and Gray will not improve us in any way cos they are not even better than what we already have and just cos they don't play here does not mean they are better esp. if they are bench warmers at their current clubs. we shall see who we get but we should just fishing in the depths of other team's barrels in search of their rejects.

30 May 2017 07:40:12
Did i miss the second ballerpod eds? Been looking forward to that.

{Ed001's Note - kissed it? You will be getting benny all excited, been a long time since anyone kissed him....}
