Just read that story about Mavinga saying that roy does'nt really give foreign youngsters, and not sure if the writer is making more of it but from what i've seen so far there maybe some truth in it i'm not saying kelly does'nt deserve his chance but i think pacheco should atleast get subbed on againt blackpool (hopefuly when we are 3-0 up withs 30 mins to go).
ed apart from kelly and shelvey coming through who else do you think roy will give a chance to shine

always a red {ed's note - Amoo, Ngoo and Wilson, I think, they seem to be the ones closest to a first team chance judging by what I have heard. Hopefully Coady, Sterling and Suso will be pushing soon as well.}

30 Sep 2010 23:32:30

I'd like to see the back of Sammy Lee.

But not in a gay way. {ed's note - you and me both mate, he is not helping matters.}

(Assulin) im not sure Ed the last i heard city where in the lead but us and the gooners where chasing his signature to didn't realise he was on trial at city. Fully agree with you on johnson, miguel (if possible) looked like he still had the legs for it against the scum not world class but along with kelly i think we would be better off. Really wish mavinga would of got a start
tonight.

BigBirdBilly {ed's note - Valencia still have money problems, I am sure they would accept cash for any of their players. Though Banega is definitely the one I would want from them, they are half the side without him playing.}

On the Torres rumour to Chelsea in January. How can a player look so off the boil in terms of first touch, lack of goals. Can't be burnout from the worldcup or just coming back from injury excuses.
Or is it that Roy doesn't know his 11, and best formation to accommodate torres.

To all the Hodgson fans, its all well and good to say hes a good man and maybe he is but that doesn't make him a good manager for us. People need to wake up and look at the facts , it doesn't take a genius to know that we're shocking at the moment, theres no shape to the team, the players don't know what there doing.We haven't played a good match under Hodgson, all this has to fall on him, hes just not a tactics man he doesn't have a clue.People can say the off field problems are affecting the time that's no excuse , Hodgson picks the team and tactics and there not working.Hes ruining us , when we ye wake up and understand its a mistake hes in charge of us.Hodgson needs to go before its to late and if hes that good a man he'll do the right thing and walk.

Just my opinion,

Out
Soto. 1mil
Aurellio. 1mil
Poulsen. 2mil
Lucas. 4mil
Aqua. 10mil
Maxi. 2mil
Babel. 8mil

Just rough guess at the prices but should b able 2 get that price for them

28mil

In

Hangeland. 8mil
Taiwo. Free
Banega. 10-12mil
Payet. 7mil
Assulin. Free
Bent. 14mil

As i say a rough guess on the prices, would this b possible in your eyes ED?

BigBirdBilly {ed's note - Aurelio was only available to rejoin because no one else was interested in him except on a pay as you play basis, I really can't see us getting a penny for him. I doubt we would get that much for Maxi either, but apart from that it seems fairly reasonable. The ins seem do able as well, though Assulin is on trial at City isn't he? So we might not get a chance at him. We could always sell Johnson to raise more money anyway, if nothing else it would drop the wage bill massively getting rid of him.}

Not long got in and only watched half the first half so far, but not sure where all the media descriptions of 'bore draw' came from.
More importantly, Cole and Meireles seem to be starting to work pretty well together, and create openings much more often. We look more solid and confident going forward, although the final balls are still iffy, and there are misunderstandings about where players think they are making runs. But so far so good.
Torres is not moving very well so far, for him- but remember Kenny said he once went 25 games without scoring, so I'm not panicking. If we were talking about the economy I'd say I've seen some green shoots in this game, and that's without Gerrard too.
We still don't have sharp enough teeth in the final 10-20 yards on goal, and that might scupper a top 4 place by the time its fixed in january, but I think so far they are starting to play like they actually wear the same colour shirts

The simple fact is that Johnson, Carragher, Lucas, Poulsen and Maxi should not even be on the pitch, never mind in the team. Utrecht is a very poor team and managed to make Liverpool look even worse. I keep looking for good things to see for the future but it is just not happening. We are going to lose a lot of the better players the way things are going - why wasn't Pacheco even on the bench? I really do despair and have been for the last eighteen months. There is absolutely no passion in the team - some people may saythat Carragher has it but I think that all the shouting that he does is to cover his own shortcomings.

I know its not right to judge roy for only 13 games. .
but these 13 games is a disaster. .
as far as i remember. the one we fought Manchester United is better even though we lose. but we played better than the other games. .
and why is that? ?
come on Roy. .think of something. .u can use your subs. you can change your tactic. .
and from what i've seen. .
u only bitting your nails.change 1 player.
and then give a comment about rome wasn't built in one day. .
THis is Liverpool Roy. . Please. .Please. . PLease. .let us see some light in our football style of play. .not like tonight. .i"m afraid. .the next game again blackpool we're gonna lose. . .
you're a good man roy. but a good man doesn't mean you are a great manager. .
show us ROY. That you are good enough to manage our team. . .
Malaysian LFC's Fan {ed's note - I am just hoping he is trying to give the players time to gel together and that is why he made so few substitutions so late. It certainly isn't working as a tactical decision.}

1st of october tomorrow this could be one of the most important months in liverpool fc history, I for one hope this takeover goes through asap and I hope the board get the right people in to run the best football club in the world, I hope they are in it for the love of lfc and not for the money like hicks, liverpool seem to be linked with a few players recently but after tonights game we really need a striker and two wingers with pace also does any one else think carra and johnson aren't playing their best at the moment. BMY:
"We played the same way under Houllier and Rafa and they both won European trophy's.
I know we were playing an average side Roy but we are an average side at the momment and Roy and the players are working under severe conditions.
So why slag them off when they need us most?"

Under Rafa we beat a turkish side (cannot remember the name and not bothered to google) 8-0 , I really cannot see this happening now - do you, as far as I remember the liverpool team for that game included few reserves / bench warmers
Under Rafa , we scored against United Madrid and few others 4 goals and more in few other games, again can you see us doing that now, or the foreseeable future . No I don't think so.
I hope Roy comes good, he is a good man, but . but
Roy

Besiktas mate and most of our goals in Europe we scored were at home (don't know the stats). Can you remember Rafa going all out attack away from home in a European game?

He was always defensive away from home even in the Pemiership and was somtime's criticized for playing a defensive formation (2 holding midfielders) at Anfield.

Remember all the draws that probably cost us the league's 2 season's ago i.e Fulham, Stoke Wigan etc?

{ed's note - I didn't understand that decision, it did seem the perfect time to give Mavinga a shot. I can't see Mavinga getting a game this season if he can't get in the side right now. Mind he is a centre back as well, not that it seems to matter.}

Question (Not attacking you or Roy promise), but Mavinga a month or so back was quoted as saying Roy was biased toward English players? do you think this have anything to do with him not being picked for any game (ie because he spoke out ) -
Roy {ed's note - it is possible, it could be disciplinary, though I have not heard that he was dropped from the reserves team for disciplinary measures. I think he has just dropped down the pecking order now we have Wilson, who I also thought could be a possible for left back. My opinion is that Roy just wants to give Kelly games, he likes Kelly a lot. I was told that he sees Kelly as the successor to Carragher, that he wants him to get as many games as possible this season to prepare him for the future.}

30 Sep 2010 21:37:59

Can anyone remember the last time we played a full 90 minutes of beatiful football I can't!
We are entitled to our opinions but this season we are awful, if and I mean if we lose at the weekend then what?

4-1 at the sh*thole a couple of years ago, it doesn't get much more beautiful than that day

30 Sep 2010 21:37:15

Well i've seen tonights game, we were poor, (again), these are the teams i'd put out now(my opinion only),

At Home. . .
GK. . . . .Reina
RB. . . . . Kelly
LB. . . . . Koncheski
CB. . . . . Carragher
CB. . . . . Agger
MF. . . . .Gerrard
MF. . . . .Mereles
LM. . . . .Johnson
AF. . . . .Cole
CF. . . . .Torres
CF/ ARM. Kuyt

Away. . .
GK. . . . . Reina
RB. . . . . Kelly
LB. . . . . Koncheski
CB. . . . . Carragher
CB. . . . . Skirtel
DM. . . . .Agger
MF. . . . .Gerrard
MF. . . . .Mereles
AMR. . . .Kuyt
AML. . . .Cole
CF. . . . .Torres.
At home i'd play Johnson on the left cos he can actually cross better with his left, and Kelly is very comfortable coming forward on the right. Away I'd have Agger at CM as he is a good defender but also good at coming forward and an excellent passer when released from Defence. Gerrard and Mereles have to play in their best positions. Of course if we buy better players then they slot in. what do you think Ed. . .

Sooty {ed's note - Johnson on the left? I don't understand that one sorry. And Agger in midfield? That just makes no sense, he is not a midfielder, he struggles enough at left back when he is asked to be more mobile and use the ball better, no way he would cope in the thick of things in midfield.}

If you notice Ed, Johnson has the tendancy to cut in on his left and has scored a couple of good goals with his left leg, Agger tends to struggle when he's on the back foot, i.e. left back, when he's storming forward he's very difficult to knock off the ball, so in my opinion would suit holding midfield very well. also he has a good range with his passing.

Sooty {ed's note - Johnson cuts in when it is not needed and stays out wide when the best move would be to cut in. Personally I would drop him and sell him in January, he is the biggest waste of money outside of Man City's squad. I understand what you are saying about Agger, but in defensive midfield he would be chasing back all the time, closing down players, running back towards his own goal, it is not his strength. He doesn't have the mobility for midfield mate, he needs to be at centre back so he can stride out with the ball.}

30 Sep 2010 21:33:50

{ed's note - I just wonder why people are so intent on getting rid of Roy, it is clear the players are not good enough and he hasn't got the funds to build anything special.}

I was watching the game in a club in London with no less than 50 liverpool supporters , and many that were there, agreed on one thing ; as a team we are playing much worse than last year. .
most are the same players mate . there is no cohesion or team unity, all the passes are either behind or too far forward like they never trained together, no outlets , we keep running to the side at the top and our defence shrink onwards making it easier for opponents.
And before you accuse me of attacking Roy again, I'll say the same as I did back at the end of July , Roy is a very very decent man who will give 110% , but his 110% I am afraid is not good enough for our club, an earlier post was spot on , we are playing much worse and more boring that Blackburn or Stoke.
We need young modern manager who can bond the players better, Di Matteo have players of less quality at wba , but he made them play as a team exciting football, I do n't mind loosing games if we can play any where like that.
Ed - Please don't take this as an attack on your judgement , I have a lot of respect for your opinions , but I think you are blaming all this on the previous management, which to a certain degree yes Rafa put us back few notches, but I think the team under Roy is digressing a lot faster, and I am worried there might be a point where we cannot turn that corner.
Roy {ed's note - if you look back I said I wanted a Di Matteo or even a Sean O'Driscoll from Donnie rather than Roy. But I just think he needs a bit of time to get the team playing the way he wants them playing before I will judge him. Sometimes you have to take a step back to take two forward and so I am prepared to give him a bit longer yet. He may not have been the man I wanted for the job, but I have to give him respect for, not just being prepared to take the job in the circumstances, but for also making it plain that he thinks this is a dream come true for him.}

30 Sep 2010 21:24:45

Agreed, but its yet another defensive performance with our backs to the wall, our defence around our 18 even when we have the ball, no outlet, when anyone get the ball they have to play backwards, it was bad enough with Lucas and Masch playing 6 yards side pass, its now 20 yards backward passes .
If we were happy to get a point then the team should 've included few of the youth strikers to give them experience and possibly inject some pace in the front line for counter attack.
Its alright for everyone to say we should n't blame this and that, but its hurting a lot to see us play the way we are at the moment.

Have heard from a very reliable source, that two parties have completed due dillegence this week and that one has made a formal offer!(they are waiting on a response from second bidder) And these biddes have satisifed the non owner board members they have the funds and the correct motives to help bring a bright future for liverpool. But this offer is not up to the value Hicks wants for the club and he is doing all he can to scupper the deal and is now working with his legal team to do all they can to stop or slow down any deal to give him more time to raise money to refinance or achieve a higher bid. Gillete has had enough and is willing to accept the fans have had enough and staying would only further de value the club. Also the premier league have again been informed that a change in ownership maybe on the horizon. Dont shoot me down, give it 3 t0 4 days and I guarantee you will hear a club statement from chairman Martin Broughton."

Macca i think this is the 1st time you've commited yourself as in date's/ days (3-4) so i myself will believe it when i hear it.

I'm not saying you are wrong mate but i'm not saying you are right either.

IF what you say is true about the statement for me it will probably be the same sort of statement we have heard before

"We have interested partie's at the table who have yet to make a formal offer but the sale process will continue to ensure we find the right owner for the club"

Of course i'd love for what you've been saying to be true but we are talking about LFC at the momment and who know's what's going on. I honestly don't even think that the board know's what's going on as Hick's is trying everything to refinance and he could succeed.

Blair Mayne YNWA {ed's note - I don't believe that was Macca.}Blair Mayne YNWA,

You are right mate that post was not from me. You are right in what you are saying about Hicks, he is not going without a fight, one that i am sure he will not win.

If roy played for a draw then well done, but there were a few attacking player for me to beleive that, and to put the torres situation into perspective; he's had several knee surgery's, got injured in the world cup final. and then rooney's shagged a prostitute and is playing worse lol. so things will get better.

ed will mavinga get his chance, can't believe kelly was at lb tonight he did ok but that's not the point.

Sir Bob:
"Ok people lets not go overboard about the quality of the performance.
We got a point playing poorly. . again. Some positives, i actually thought Torres looked brighter second half. I suspect he is struggling more than we realise from his knee injury from last season. He needs the proverbial goal off his backside and he needs more time.
The experiment with Meireles out wide didn't work at all. One of Poulsen or Lucas in the middle. I don't think we can stomach two at the same time!
I think Roy put Kelly under a bit of pressure playing him left back. I think we may have looked better with Johnson at LB.
Crap pitch, heavy. But hey we didn't lose and you cannot expect this team to suddenly turn on the style of play we all want.
At the moment it's grit, work, battling and bearing it. It aint going to get any prettier than this."

Plenty of posts here saying get rid of Hodgson, this player is crap, he is this & that etc. Come on guys get real who else would have come to us with the state we are in. Once the new owners come in they will no doubt give him time to try and turn it around - if not then he is out. Until then we must show unity the way the Yanks aren't. I fell in love with Liverpool watching them in the 1974 Cup Final, I have seen some great sides play some wonderful football. I have also seen some woeful performances, but through it all we, the fans, maintain our support like no others ever do. Let's not let the negativity in the boardroom spill out onto the terraces. Stand up and show all others we are still the best. YNWA.

I can't believe how many people are slagging our team, players and manager off.

We are Liverpool fans we don't do this every other fans do we don't.

30 Sep 2010 20:34:40

There's a lot of opinions about Roy recently with some fans saying he's only had 13 games etc. so we need to give him a chance; i'll continue to do so however I am getting worried by recent events.

Carling Cup - No1 on the bench with any experience/ class to change the game.

After stating Meireles can play in any of the 3 central midfield positions he has played him on the flanks on more than one occassion.

Substitutions - is he aware he can make them? If not could some1 pass on the message for me? Maybe some of the people on here who see him regularly dinning and drinking wine?

What is the point of keeping Babel if your not going to play him? Is he off form - yes, but if your not going to play him you might as well sold him or sent him on loan so his wages were paid - at least he might be able to afford to make another substitution tonight.

Why do we play Lucas and Poulsen in the same team? Both mark each over. both jump for the same ball then both leave it for the other one when the opposition come in and nick it and neither can pass through the oppositions midfield; it was like a game of table football tonight when they had the ball.

I appreciate the pitch and weather didn't help and it takes new players time to settle but I still thought they would be able to pass the ball to one of our players.

I know he's not had the easiest of starts nor has he had the easiest of working conditions but he needs to look at the players he has available and decide on the formation we should be playing week in week out and start putting the right players in the right postitions.

Ed about my post about kelly and spearing i never said kelly won't make it but if he's not a left back or a right back why play him there he was poor at right back against northamton and i thought he was poor tonight against a poor dutch team roy should be playing people in there natural position or at least a left footed player at left back like mavinga if everyone is injured

What was it today? is that how Hodgson want us to play? ?what a tactic. horrible.why us want to get rid of roy so much? ?because of the way he want us to play. that's it. the players much more the same. .not so many changes. .plus tonight we play mostly with all the first team player. .gosh roy. can't u do anything? ?rather than bitting your nail. .80th minutes, changes cole with maxi? ?are you planning to get a draw here tonight? ?

this is not rome. its liverpool fc. .
the team basically is the same. .

16 games in total under woy and im sorry to say we are not improving we are getting worse i don't think its just the players playing badly i have no confidence in the manager sorry but true.
hope when we do get new owners fingers crossed we get a manager whos up to the job.

Can anyone tell me why that clown Hodgson is allowed to manage us, look at the state of us tonight, the players don't have a clue what they're doing , this has to fall on Hodgson's head. He needs to go before he really messes us up.

A few points on some of today's posts:

Owen Saga - Why wasn't a buy back clause put in the original contact? I'll be honest I really can't understand a lot of the deals we have done in recent years - to say we are naive in a lot of them is an understatement.

Hyppia - Hyppia wanted to play the only way he would've stayed is a contract that we probably couldn't afford. Roy wanted him this year but he's stayed and signed a one year extension until June 2012; I very much doubt he would've still been playing in the premiership in 2012.

Players we need to sign / get rid of. We need to remember that unless we secure champions league football for next season then a lot of the players mentioned won't sign for us unless we pay them ridiculous amounts of money to come to us; I can't see that happening.

Please please don't let richard virgin branson takeover our club if he does I think he will be another hick and won't invest his own money, ed what do you think if mr virgin took over and do you think this rumour has got any substance ?

Ps I would love a sheik too take over our club but I think that's wishful thinking, also ed or macca do we have any more news of the takeover? Kingplfc
{Editor's note - As long as there is no debt and we get to spend what we make I think Liverpool would be better of}

30 Sep 2010 20:16:42
Reina, carra, agger, aurelio, kuyt, torres, gerrard. .7 of the 11 players who finished 2nd in 2009 are still there ed. Saying roy was given a poor team is bull. Arbeloa-johnson(worse)
riera-cole(better)
mereleis-xabi(u decide)
mascherano-poulsen/ lucas(way, way worse)
squad players such as lucas, babel and a few others are still at the club. The team is not that bad. Not good enough to finish 2nd again sure, but not bad enough to be heading for mid-table either. Our style of football is the difference between an awful and a fantastic lfc team I THINK.
Red bl00ded!
{Editor's note - The team Liverpool have at the minute is a decent team there is just no confidence at all in the squad}

Great email about moores mate!you hit the nail right on the head

30 Sep 2010 20:11:20

Dont just blame the yanks, parry and moores are just as bad if not worse, "you only sell the family silver once"is what parry spouted out before advising (greedy c* t)moores to sell to the yanks for 9m more!what the f*ck where they thinking!you only had to do very little research to find out what dirty , sly t* t hicks is, but like the whole moores family he was guided by the pound note!i hope your proud of yourselves you pair of f*cking parasites

Well tonites game was a shocker team or player ratings

reina-2
johnson-3
kelly-5
carra-4
skrtel-4
meireles-4(out of position)
cole-4
lucas-2
poulson-2
kuyt-3
torres-3
if there is any team out there willing to pay 50 mill for torres then we should take it NOW, he showed tonite he aint got the heart. we were battered and played off the pitch.HODGSON needs to go now as he aint got a f@@king clue can't even make a decent sub and wen he does its on 80mins f: king joker

30 Sep 2010 20:08:50

Not saying its time to put the pressure on Roy, but when it was obvious things weren't working out, did he try to change things? NO. he just swapped a like for like player and left that too late. We need some natural width and some pace, or we'll be watching this (at best) mediocraty for a while yet!

Thought the form N'Gog's been in he should have been given at least 25 minutes (in place of Kuyt), and babel should've been brought on (in place of Cole) to peg their right winger back a bit and take the pressure of Kelly, the Maxi brought on for the right and meireles moving to the centre to replace Poulson or Lucas!

Nice to know that Aurelio has been fit for about 5 minutes since he signed a new deal, forcing us to use even more players out of position!

30 Sep 2010 20:03:29
Player ratings

reina was rather dodgy tonight, misjudged several crosses. Not his best. 5/ 10

johnson was pooor both offensively and defensively. 3/ 10

carra was the WORST player. I don't understand what is wrong with him. Drop him before it gets worse roy. 0/ 10

skrtel made several important clearances. Made up for carra's faults 6/ 10

kelly was bullied all night by that right winger. Kicked and kicked and had his shirt pulled. A tired Cole did not help. I'd say his touch and crosses has definitely improved. Encouraging stuff 5/ 10

Lucas and Poulsen were s* t all night. Silly fouks and balls given away. Would rather see spearing and shelvey -10/ 10

Meireles was played terribly out of position, always drifted wide. He should play as a CM, not as a playmaker.
4/ 10

Kuyt was also played out of position. Had a nightmare return to his former club. 3/ 10

cole looked really tired. He should not have started the match in the first place. Should be rested for blackpoool 4/ 10

Torres missed several opportunities but he's still recovering from injury 3/ 10

ed what do you think of my opinions {ed's note - I agree apart from Skittles, he was awful, poor clearances, bad positioning, stupid fouls, he was the worst player on the pitch in my opinion.}

30 Sep 2010 20:03:04

We atleast need 80million at da moment to build a world class team. Looking at the team. We are surely gonna finish below were we finished last season. Imo we were playing better last season then this one. I hope we get a quality striker in jan. No matter what happens with the takeover issue. Wat say Ed? {ed's note - I just wonder why people are so intent on getting rid of Roy, it is clear the players are not good enough and he hasn't got the funds to build anything special.}

30 Sep 2010 19:58:45
I hope that performance by kelly and the spearing performance against northampton will prove to all you local lad's brigade that they are know where near good enough yet and spearing will probably will never be {ed's note - what was wrong with Kelly's performance? He did ok considering that he was played at left back when he is a right footed centre half. He was also kicked and pulled for 90minutes while the ref gave every single decision against him. He IS good enough and that is clear to see.}

30 Sep 2010 19:56:23

At last - A few people starting to acknowledge where our problems started! Moores ran the club like his own little fantasy football empire, and we completely missed the boat when it came to marketing the club brand - We are now 10 year + behind the mancs in generating income streams and, in the yanks defence, they have generated more 'partners' for the club and, therefore income, in their short time, than Moores ever did.
Do not listen to him saying the yanks went back on their word - In a deal this size, the way it is funded id transparant to all involved

30 Sep 2010 19:55:21
Ok people lets not go overboard about the quality of the performance.

It aint going to get any prettier than this.

Bob the Red

30 Sep 2010 19:55:02
ANOTHER P@SS POOR PERFORMANCE NEARLY SENT ME TO SLEEP IT WAS THAT SH@TE WE HAVE GOT TO GET BETTER CERTAINLY CANT GET ANY WORSE.
LOOKS LIKE WE ARE PLAYING ROYS BORING FOOTBALL

30 Sep 2010 19:52:39
Well its safe to say that carra is past his best and lucas, poulsen and maxi should be playing for tranmere. My God but when liverpool are bad, they truly are awful. What's worse is that they are awful in the EUROPA LEAGUE. Something's gotta give? We will batter a team soon? Dont make me laugh. We are not even average, we are a poor, poor team.
Red bl00ded!

30 Sep 2010 19:51:24

WHERE HAS THE PASSION GONE - - PLEASE LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB, SACK THE LIKES OF TORRES, LUCAS, JOHNSON ETC AND PAY ME JUST £10K PER WEEK AND, ALTHO I MAY NOT BE QUITE AS SKILLFUL, THE FANS WILL SEE SOMEONE WHO WILL DIE FOR THE CLUB AND TRY HIS HEART OUT.

NOT AN OVERPAID SULKING TORRES, A USELESS LUCAS AND A POSITIONALLY INEPT JOHNSON.

SELL THE CLUB, SELL THE DEAD WOOD AND LETS BUILD AGAIN - BUY BRITISH, BUY PASSION.

30 Sep 2010 19:51:03
Inept, dissapointing, lethargic, dour, poor - just some words to describe tonights performance.

Let's hope it picks up soon or it will be another long hard season for all us reds fans

30 Sep 2010 19:49:07

What a disheartening game. I'm supporting Roy, but I've got no faith in him. How can he not make any tactical changes?
N'gog is in great form at the moment and we have nobody on the pitch who looks like scoring. Surely it's a no brainer?
Meireles on the right? You didn't see Alonso on the right, and Meireles is a similar player. The one position he should be playing is the position Roy hasn't put him in, in the middle pulling the strings.
Can't believe he didn't switch anything around when it wasn't working from the start.

30 Sep 2010 19:44:28

Ed who will be your motm for this match {ed's note - the Utrecht crowd I think, no one on the pitch has performed particularly well.}

30 Sep 2010 19:43:39

Just watching tonights game and it's awful, who ever takes over the club, which I think is going to happen after the rbs deadlines is going to have to spend big. In my opinion a centre half, left back, right and left winger and a striker is the very least we need.we can't play with Lucas and polsen together, there's just no creativity what so ever. Believe if you agree.

30 Sep 2010 19:43:13
Ed im not saying cheat, if he hadnt jumped the keepers momentum would of takin him out.
Magsman ynwa. . {ed's note - so cheating by deliberately getting in the way of an onrushing opponent. He did the right thing, he gave himself a chance of getting to the ball and scoring, the thing to moan about was the heavy touch which put it out of play.}

30 Sep 2010 19:42:59
Blackpool gonna kill us

30 Sep 2010 19:40:34
Yeah that's the overall impression i get from most of them. Started last year, we look shot to a man, no spark, heavy, weary legs, playing in diver's boots.

Nice to see that Aussie is doing his stuff. Oh my God what is Kelly doing. . . . . . . . . . . . . .? Why is Srktel not clearing the ball? That's his job for Christ's sake.

I'll take 0-0 right now.

30 Sep 2010 19:34:55

MAKE A CHANGE ROY! !

Kuyt's having a mare,
Cole's not much better,
Meireles is out of position and struggling.

Lucas off, N'gog on, Kuyt wide, Meireles in the middle, N'gog up front.

30 Sep 2010 19:34:36
Torres did his best to make sure we didn't get a pen, name another centre forward who would of got out of the way of the keeper like that. If Spain are looking for a hurdler look no further, attitude stinks. .
Magsman {ed's note - attitude stinks? Because he didn't cheat? Are you for real?}

30 Sep 2010 19:33:23

I really pity Kelly, they're just bullying him. Fouled so many times and what did he get? A yellow card. {ed's note - I agree mate, they have targeted him, he has been kicked and pulled constantly but he has stuck to the task and kept going which is all you can ask really.}

30 Sep 2010 19:32:48
Yeah he's giving him a tough time but i'm a bit alarmed at how he seems to be struggling over the ground, looks very leggy, awkward. I know he's a big unit and the ground's slippy but i think if Utrecht can get the winger running at him, we're in a bit of trouble. Mind you we couldn't be shakier if we were in an earthquake at the back.

Bob the Red {ed's note - i was just thinking how tired Cole and Lucas are looking, neither are running well and Kelly has taken a few kicks to the legs in an attempt to slow him down too.}

30 Sep 2010 19:30:04

Wtf are players doing. I guess ed u predicted 3-1 win for liverpool remember? {ed's note - I don't remember mate, sorry, but I would settle for that, can't see us getting 3 if we played all week though.}

30 Sep 2010 19:24:08
We started well enough and then Lucas has one of those famous five minute spells that i keep going on about where everything he does is absolutely poor. He started it from the 34th minute with that double arse up and then gave a corner away looking like a pub player.

Poulsen isn't adding anything, Meireles is disappointing after a bright start, Joe Cole has given the ball away twice tonight which if everyone else did the same we wouldn't be struggling against half decent oppo.

Kelly is really struggling tonight. Johnson is excellent going forward, dodgy defending. I don't get all the hype towards Torres that the commentators are concentrating on, i don't think he's had much to get excited about really, oooh just missed a chance!

Bob the Red {ed's note - do you not think it is more that the winger is getting away with fouling Kelly at every opportunity? He has never let go of Kelly's shirt yet he is getting free kicks every time.}

30 Sep 2010 19:22:21
Before the season began everyone at the club were saying what a fantastic atmosphere there was and how optimistic they were for the season Stevie.G included, tell me then what's gone wrong?
I understand Torres injuries over the last year but f*ck that it hurts like hell to say it but at the moment Torres is for what ever reason completely NOT interested.
Johnson walses round the park like Louie Spence out of pineapple dance.
Carragher has lost more than a yard of pace and is constantly under performing.
Cole for me has yet to put in a performance to the standards of his Chelsea or west ham days.
Lucas Poulson are s* t.
If it wasn't for Pepe and Stevie we would be in a even worse position than we are. They are the only two who we constantly rely on to get us out of a hole who show passion for the club.
We are worse now than under Benitez
the clock is ticking Roy

30 Sep 2010 19:10:28

Kuyt having a mare - has he passed to a team mate yet?
dont know who it is that says Kuyts second touch is a tackle but they are so right

30 Sep 2010 19:07:06

Why does lucas an poulson get a game b4 spearin an shelvy at least they pass 4ward an don't give away silly free kicks any1 got any news on who done due dill

30 Sep 2010 19:04:21

It looks like we aint going to see any movement on the takeover front until october 6th , because as most people have said why would an investor pay an extra £200m or so more when they can wait and get it cheaper? i have no doubt there are definatly partys interested and maybe once rbs have control and try to find a buyer we will see a few more names crop up.

there will no doubt be moves in the january transfer market , but these will all depend on finacial suituation with takeover etc. but i would expect at least 1 striker ( hopefully 2 ) and two wingers. someone like darren bent would be good proven goal scorer as we found out last week and consistently gets goals even though he plays for sunderland. wingers well hopefully arda turan cracking young player and is passionate about playing for liverpool.

Torres needs to find form and start looking like he wants to score goals , i personally don't think hes trying hard enough and his forward runs are non existent at times.

P.S: Joe cole is playing quality tonight

30 Sep 2010 18:56:25
Nandos attitude stinks

30 Sep 2010 18:55:32

Poulson - When the games is not passing him by, he makes silly fouls.

Lucas - Much the same as Poulson, though I still believe he'd be a half decent attacking midfielder if given a chance.

Miereles - Out of position and struggling

Kuyt, he's probably wondering how on earth he ended up starting up front.

Started off okay, went down hill. . hope things pick up in the second half!

30 Sep 2010 18:51:32

Lucas and poulson are that bad they wouldn't get in the Everton team.

Seriously the 2 worst midfielders I have seen in a LFC team in 40 years of supporting Liverpool atrocious! !

How many more times is roy gonna play lucas till he finds out he is bait (well at least im doing well with liverpool on fifa 11)

30 Sep 2010 18:39:00
TAXI 4 LUCAS and POULSON

30 Sep 2010 18:38:20
Poulsen and lucas are giving silly fouls away and misplacing passes. I would rather see spearing and shelvey on the pitch {ed's note - Poulsen is abysmal again isn't he?}

30 Sep 2010 18:15:41

"{ed's note - my understanding is that it was a bit of both. Rafa wouldn't even promise him any playing time at all, he was told he was fourth choice and that he was mainly wanted as a coach not a player. He, quite rightly I think, thought he still had a few years left in him as a player and so he left to get playing time.}"

Cheers for the clarification. I've always been big fan of Hyypia and felt he was somewhat poorly treated given the players supposedly in front of him for making the starting XI. {ed's note - I could understand Rafa's thinking, he wanted more pace at the back, Carra and Hyypia were too slow a partnership and he chose Carra.}

30 Sep 2010 18:00:00

Torres is fully fit and raring to go - no more excuses says Hodgson which is great because the same applies to him. Just seen the line up - brilliant. If any LFC fans are suffering from insomnia tune in and watch the reds. Poulson and Lucas in the midfield its going to be slow, slow, slower and even slower. I think we can bore the death out of the Dutch side and hopefully grab a goal.

Hodgson out!

"Actually, the original criticism was aimed at David Moores, so i think this is very relevant with our present financial predicament."

How can us refusing to pay an inflated price be a criticism of LFC board of that time - surely that's a good thing. David Moores was naive & has dropped us in it but I'd rather one him than one hundred Gillet & Hicks. He loved the club, you've got to give him that - we're still in the s* t becuase of him though. {ed's note - he loved the club so much that he continued to drain money out of its coffers long after getting £88m for selling it. The man loves two things - money and himself, nothing else.}

30 Sep 2010 17:17:00

They are worth about £20M and £12M.

Suarez maybe? I suppose only if we get new owners :(

It's funny isn't it - chelsea, city fans laughing at us, though they were in exactly the same position and benefited because their price dropped so low that a major backer was tempted. These problems could be our saviour. I hope.

I don't get the ammount of glee that the see and hear in the media/ from other fans at our current problems - but I'm sure as hell going to enjoy it when in six months our debt is gone & we start getting some revenge.

Chelsea were a matter of hours from bankruptcy. Ambramovich bought Chelsea cheap because of this. Not many people had even heard of Roman Ambramovich at this time. Someone unknown to us will be our saviour, i think.

The Wall Street Journal, Hollywood directors/ producers and now Hollywood A-listers.

I don't think we could get better publicity than this? IF it's one thing we know these Hollywood LFC fans will do, is bring the mess that H&G have created to the world's media i.e magazines, tv, internet, newspapers.

IF this is true then we will be everywere and now the whole world will hopefully sit up and take notice and tell Hicks to f*ck off he is FINISHED!

PS. Probably still won't be on SSN and Talksport!

Too right it won't be on SSN or Talksport. There too busy making what I would consider unwarranted digs towards Liverpool. On the Talksport Breakfast show this morning when discussing whether West Ham would be able to fill the Olympic Stadium if they are allowed to move into it post 2012, the presenters mentioned clubs whose fans could fill the Olympic Stadium. They had the nerve to suggest ManCity have more fans than us. Their reason for this was that Eastlands has a larger capacity by 3,000 than Anfield. Talksport really is the anti Liverpool radio station

30 Sep 2010 13:51:34

Did anybody see Bryan Ruiz last night in the Spurs/ FC Twente game? Have to say I was pretty unimpressed. For a player some posters have suggested in past months that Liverpool were willing to pay anything from £10m to £15m, I think we would be 'throwing money down the drain' again. We would be left with anothe rplayer of average quality for the 4 years of a contract. Am I wrong on this? He reminded me of a cross between 'bad' Morientes and Sebatian Leto. Need I say more.

It's "bankruptcy" actually. And if you really knew anything about the situation then you'd know that bankruptcy is an extremely unlikely scenario - the club IS profitable. .

The fact is, Liverpool FC are more than likely going to be taken over by RBS shortly. RBS will sell the club to one of the parties currently performing due diligence for a much lower amount than the £800m Hicks (who is the one dreaming of a buyer!) wants/ needs.

Why would an Arab touch the club with an asking price of £800m when they could wait a couple of weeks and snap it up for a bargain?

I bet we never see you on here again. .

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Absolutely right. I am getting sick of these saddos posting on this site, who no nothing about the Liverpool financial situation and why we are in this position, apart from what they read in poor tabloids or hear on poor radio stations.

i would really like to jova play up top as he looks quite a handfull and seems to be pretty big so maybe he would cause the defence a bit of a prob as he aint all that slow and with nando alongside it could be worth looking at

To the bloke who posted this- - ->
Hi Guys,
GREAT NEWS! Deal done. I have regularly posted on here over the last few
weeks that Richard Branson would be buying LFC.
I can confirm that this deal is 99% done. The MD of investments Ian Ackerley and Claire Gates who
is Virgin Moneys MD have completed due diligence and the sale is almost done. Announcment I am told will be before the derby.
The only sticking point is that Hicks is pushing for more $. Greedy * * , I believe the price to be £340m but Hicks is determind
to push the price up and squeeze Branson for more.
Hicks is furious with Broughton and has said "not a dime less than $600m (£380m)"
You heard it here first guys.
Open up the bar its time to celebrate!
Razor-Red

. . . . . . . mines a VIRGIN COLA! Lol :-)

There's more chance of 11 virgins playing for LFC's women's team than there is of one owning us.

"30 Sep 2010 10:21:40

Hyppia wanted didn't wanted to sit on da bench. He wanted 1st team action which was quite impossible with agger skrtel and carra in da bag. But benitez gave him an option as player plus coaching role. But he rejected that and went to bayern luverksen(spelling) to some playing time. Anyways like he said he'll be back in da near future for the coaching role."

Maybe the Ed can clear this up as that's not how i understood the situation. I was under the impression that he was more than willing to sit out a certain amount of games, but the contract offered to him was well below the type (i.e. minimal years) that'll likely get offered to Carra simply because he's a local lad. Hyypia wanted to stay but as with Wenger, Benitez started to look at handing out short term extensions to older players and Hyypia deserved better - both he and many fans knew that, so he went to Leverkusen where he'd be appreciated. The defence looked infinitely better marshalled when he was on the pitch, something Benitez failed to appreciate. He was the natural choice to move straight into a coaching capacity and he was allowed to leave - along with Alonso, Johnson and Aquilani i actually believe that his leaving was one of the nails in Benitez coffin. He may have lost some pace, but his positional play and commanding presence in the box was still better than most we have. {ed's note - my understanding is that it was a bit of both. Rafa wouldn't even promise him any playing time at all, he was told he was fourth choice and that he was mainly wanted as a coach not a player. He, quite rightly I think, thought he still had a few years left in him as a player and so he left to get playing time.}

{Editor's Note: Any questions about line-ups are tough. If I could ask you guys a question, it would have to be "Why do men have nipples?" I am back off to my cave to get some rest.}

I can answer you Ed. It is because as an embryo in the womb, a template is followed for its formation, and the gender undetermined. It is in his genderless state that nipples form. It is only latter that hormones cause the embryo to be male, due to the Y chromosome. Have fun in your cave with your nipples.

Does the template come with a dangly bit or no dangly bit?

Morning ED
What are everyones thoughts on what tonights team should be. Personally I hope Roy plays his strongest 11 (minus Agger, Koncheckyand Gerrard) as the team needs to build confidence and I would like him to play 2 very similiar teams for tonight and Sunday against Blackpool when Gerrard should also be back in the squad. Or do you believe rotation is a better idea?

It is my belief that Standard Charted will quietly nudge RBS to sell the club away from the Americans. I believe that when new owners arrive, a whole new optimism will sweep through Anfield amongst the players. Expect at least one big name signing in January.

Liverpool fans' opposition to American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett is well known, but now films stars such as Samuel L Jackson and Miker Myers are ready to add their weight to the campaign with a film, according to reports.

Mike Jefferies and Dan Hubbard, who have a string of Hollywood producing and casting credits to their names and are big Reds fans, are preparing to film a viral video opposing the American duo's ownership of the Anfield club.

And they could be joined in front of the camera by tinsel town A-listers like Jackson and Myers, according to the Daily Mirror.

"You won't believe who's involved. I've been stunned by terrific reaction of so many celebrity Reds, and many, many fans want to be involved in the film too, " Jefferies said.

"It is important to get the message across that the fans want Hicks and Gillett out. There are millions of supporters who can not accept their club being touted as a product like a soft drink.

"The viral is already building massive momentum and there is a real feeling now amongst the fanbase. But they don't care, they don't care about our club – except its valuation.

"They don't care about the players or the fans. Or our history, or our heritage, and they don't care about our future.

"By trying to refinance instead of showing some class and cutting a reasonable deal with someone and cutting his losses, Hicks is saying 'f* k you' to the fans.

"So what should we say in reply? ENOUGH! The only way we can get him to change his arrogant mindset is to give him a bloody nose and embarrass him in front of his family, friends, business associates, investors etc.

"Therefore, I flew up from Cape Town last night to come to Liverpool to make a short film here this weekend in which Liverpool fans and stakeholders will tell Tom Hicks – and the world – what they think of him. We are going to shame him and hit him where it hurts."

The frustrated Reds pair will be in Liverpool on Sunday filming sections of the video they hope to have uploaded to YouTube by Tuesday.

"Our aim is to work night and day so that we can have the film uploaded onto YouTube by Tuesday, and we would then like fans to email the URL to their entire address books, " Jefferies added.

"Imagine if we could get a MILLION hits. If we can achieve that, then we can rest assured that everyone who counts will know that Tom Hicks is utterly despised. And more importantly, Tom Hicks will know."

BOND, POWERS & BADMOTHERFUKER HELP GET H&G OUT!

Daniel Craig, Mike Myers and Samuel L Jackson to be involved in a protest film aimed at H&G
The idea of the film is to embarrass them in front of family, friends, business associates and investor's.
It's important to get the message across that millions of supporters will not accept their club being touted as a product like a fizzy drink, and a reminder to all H&G investor's it's not just the average joe who support this club.

Over the last 12 months or so of reading this site and now liverpool specific it appears to me that every few weeks or so some none LFC fans posts some S*&T about our captain. here are a couple of examples, he cheated on Alex with her sister and got her pregnant, then he got an underage girl pregnant to which he has a court injunction out on the papers not to print and now he is not playing tonight as he is with his solicitors about a divorce.
the first 2 rumours have also appeared on other sites and even do the rounds in a form of texts.

all the above is leading to his poor form and him wanting to leave the club. . . . . . . . .

what i find funny is these fans who post b&llSH*t think us liverpool fans are thick and as they are already aware as we use the site have access to google.
this first about Alexs sister made me chuckle as alex does not appear to have a sister only a brother (so medical marvel seems to come to mind) the second being underage. . . no court in the land would offer protection for a sex offender again rubbish and now he can't play as he is visiting a divorce lawyer. . unless stevie is waiting for a legal aid lawyer who only works wdenesdays or his lawyer makes that much money from all the court injunctions for him and only works a one day week this is C&*P too. . please now i ask the editor of this site (either one of you) to stop allowing these posts as it has become a drain on this great site and it is now becoming patronising on the intelligence of us great fans. . . . . . . . .

true fans will always be true fans, through thick and thin we will support our team, through good and bad times WE ARE LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB true support until the end

How much do you think Suarez is worth Ed? {ed's note - I personally would only rate him at £15m at the most. He is only playing in the Dutch league, it is not the strongest and so his value can't be that high until he proves himself in one of the big 3 leagues.}

Ed,
What is your least favourite question to be asked on here?
Is it:
Who we gonna sign?
Whats your ideal line up?
When will takeover happen? Etc Etc.

If you could ask us mere pesants one question, what would it be, if any?
Will you lot pis* off & leave me alone perhaps? (by any chance?) :)
Cheers,
Irish Kev

Not too sure of the answer to that one to be honest mate but i'd happily give mine up if it makes life easier to understand for ya :)
What i really want to know is, Why did the chicken cross the road?
God i'm bored :)
Better go to bed or the wife will be on me case.
Good night Editor - And good luck with the nipple rubbing ha!

Any players / staff of LFC who reads this please ask the other players to celebrate our next goal in a specific way:
To run to the fans and give the five finger salute, pointing to each individual finger to show that the players know that we the supporters are 100% behind them during these tough times. We're in this mess together and we'll get out of it together! Please pass this on if you do know or have any contact with the players, it'd be an AMAZING gesture from them to recognise our message that we'll support them through thick and thin!
Cheers,
Irish Kev

My squad tomorrow

reina
johnson skrtel kyrgiakos kelly
kuyt meireles lucas jovanovic
pacheco torres

who agrees, or should n'gog, cole or shelvey start?

Cole should start mate, he needs games and confidence.
I'd love to keep Pacheco in and put Cole on the left for Jovanovic. I'd play Carra at left full back myself with Kelly at right back so for me:

Reina
Kelly Skrtel Soto Carra
Kuyt Raul Lucas Cole
Pacheco Torres

Think Babel to come on if Pacheco is not doing too good on 60 mins but knowing Roy not till the 87th minute :)
