Have you ever googled "wonder dog sparky" ?
the urban dictionary page looks extremely painfull.
Am thinking its not the same sparky!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is one word.}

I looked up wonderdogsparky a few months ago. and tbh I think Ed002 is just messing.

Hi eds, what is the latest on marco reus from Dortmund?

Also, how far into negotiations are we with Guillermo Ochoa?

Cheers. Happy New Year

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed with Marco Reus. Ochoa is one of the goalkeepers Liverpool has considered.}

31 Dec 2014 14:45:38
Ed, who is this wonderdogsparky guy? :') thanks and happy new year in advance!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Sparky, a talking labradoodle, lives with his pets Dinsdale McSkrtel and the previously homeless El Noseo. He likes children - small but tasty.}

Is Dinsdale any relation to the piranha brothers?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You will need to read of their adventures.}

31 Dec 2014 17:27:22
The question is who is "El Noseo" and which way does he bat.
Also I really wish you stop with the "He likes children - small but tasty " thingy . Its just not appropriate

Agree1 Disagree4

Sparkys posts are very cryptic.
like myself and the average knuckle-dragger, they aren't always easy to decipher.

I, like the aforementioned dog, also like children, I just can't eat a whole one.
It's a joke Roy, lighten up.

Ed I'm still no clearer haha, does he have any relevance to liverpool or nothing more than an personic account?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Find a grown up to read it to you.}

I can read Ed :') I was only wondering if it had any relevance or was just some person having fun making stupid inferences to Liverpool players and I'm guessing El noseo is brendan?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Of course it has relevance.}

Ok sorry ed.

I'm aware that we have a 4th place target right now, and that 4th place has had an average of 70+ points.
I'm also aware that we would need a silly good run to achieve that right now,

However, when taking into account how many points we are likely to need, it's worth mentioning our other challengers for 4th are by their own standards playing awfully.

I guess my point is that 4th isn't quite out of reach just yet, and the average total needed for 4th will drop after this season.

Not saying we'll make it, just that it is possible given others form.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Assuming Arsenal are as bad in the second half of the season, they are still on course to finish on 66 points. I can't see them being as bad though. I think we'll need 72 points at least and a superior goal difference.

What we really need is another 10 game winning streak. Otherwise, I think we'll come 5th.

Agree2 Disagree1

Even if you simply double what south and arsenal have atm, and gave them 66 points, that mean we have to win roughly 13 games out of 19, even with that terrific win run last year we only won 15 from jan 1st. Sorry I just think that optimism is completely miss placed. I give us 9% chance of getting top 4.
If you do feel that strongly about it though, we're a tasty 6/1

Agree0 Disagree1

Listen, worry about ourselves and assume nothing. One game at a time, we are in no position to expect anything after the first half of the season and with Rodgers still in charge.

Agree2 Disagree1

I'll keep on hoping for a miracle as long as its mathematically possible, but without my red blinkers on I think the odds are heavily against us gaining 6 points on arsenal in the next 18 games.
Theyve had their wobble for this season, and they will get better.
With our top striker probably not fully back to his best for at least another four games, and our goalie a total bag of nerves, I just don't see us winning enough games against the stronger teams.
That transfer committee has a lot to answer for by leaving us without a proven top quality second striker, and a goalie who looks like a shellshock casualty.

Agree0 Disagree0

9% Bob? That high? ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd much rather look at it as we are 6 points off. No good speculating on how many points we will need. If we win the six pointers and continue playing the way we are with a fit Sturridge back shortly, then we stand a very good chance. The problem is that there are lots of "ifs".

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry 8 off.

Agree0 Disagree0

I mean 5 off. Holy good guaranga.

Agree0 Disagree0

Three points tomorrow and a good performance would be a good start to 2015.

Still feel that the club should have shown Rodgers the door after the palace debacle, but he's still in charge and at least he is now trying to put things right, the pressing and intensity have returned, Gerrard and Johnson not playing has helped immensely.

The good news is that Sturridge will be back soon, having a genuine goal scorer will help hugely.

United got themselves to 3rd position by winning 5 on the trot. We won 2 already, the next 4 are n't easy but winnable , so if we get 10 points in January , we have every chance.

Agree1 Disagree0

EMS i hit 9 instead of 0 #FatFingers

Agree0 Disagree0

UTD are 3rd because they have done what they always did for the last 20 years, win playing badly. EG us southampton and stoke

Agree0 Disagree0

Roy I totally agree with you mate. The only thing is that you are not allowed to be optimistic on these pages. I thought it was a dig at Rodgers page only.

Agree0 Disagree0

We're only 5 points off so if we manage to catch up then Will that mean all the other teams along with us have a 9 percent chance? I reckon if we win the next 3 games we will be in 4th and then its 2 points per game from there to stay 4th

Agree0 Disagree0

Play the game in front of you and don`t worry about the calculations because right no, we are on the outside looking in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe EMS in his infitnite wisdom and love of stats & numbers will be able to help out here.

People are saying we can still make it as only 5 points are needed to be caught up on.

if we average 2 points a game after these next three fxtures (considering them as wins) that still only takes us to 60 points I believe?

Now I don't remember the stat from sky many many moons back, but English clubs in the Europa league I think win something like 60% of their games (roughly) on a sunday, are we then looking at people wanting us to drop out of europa league and forget that champs league route and cup, or concentrate on 4th place. I've no idea what fixtures a europa league run would tie us for sunday games to, but given that win% you can be sure we'd fail to get near 66 points.

Feel free to do the mathematics yourselves.

Hi eds, was wondering if we have looked at any keepers from The Championship?

Surely there are some decent keepers playing in the lower league, everyone's got to start somewhere?

I was thinking about players who have left in the last couple of seasons and apart from the obvious Suarez I would love Dirk Kuyt his work ethic and ability to score important goals. No point to that statement just thinking.

Cheers
Sean

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Ruddy.}

Ruddy isn't a decent keeper by any stretch and is just as poor as what we have, wasn't good enough for Everton so how he can be good enough for us is beyond me. McCarthy was a good shout but we missed out on him.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Dec 2014 16:45:20
Leaving aside the fact that we have a Championship level keeper in the form of Brad Jones anyway, maybe we should look at David Forde if we're fishing from the Championship?

Nah I'm joking. Or maybe I'm not. Or maybe I am.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds do yee know the name of the Derby keeper? Was watching them the other night and his distribution was spot on

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if he was fit, it would be Lee Grant, who isn't usually known for being particularly strong in that aspect, but McLaren has been working on passing a lot with the players.}

31 Dec 2014 13:12:05
I don't post but read the site everyday just wanted to say happy new year to the ed's and fellow supporters of the great club and let's hope we've turned the corner and get top 4 at least happy new year all

Hi eds,

Does Liverpool still have "partnerships" with Nacional and the Budapest club? Has anything come of either?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool, like many clubs, have partnerships with several other sides. The long-standing relationship with MTK Budapest is at an academy level and has been largely pointless. It was hit by the 18 year old rule and the educational requirements. Nacional was the doing of Damien Comolli - it went nowhere and was effectively replaced by a full-time scouting set up very quickly. Other similar partnerships have not helped the club at all. In the longer term, the building of academies around the world will keep the profile up and may turn up a player or two in the future.}

31 Dec 2014 11:30:07
Anyone here that's up for the challenge to make a summary of players and eds comments?
I would do it but on the road so can't right now.

also someone posted yesterday about skrtel about how surprised he was about how he gets some abuse on here. my view on skrtel is that he is good pro trains hard and has been a good servant to the club but he gives the ball away to easy at times, is clumsey in the tackle (liable for bookings)and how he gets away with the constant shirt pulling in the box is a liability and could of cost us a lot more than it has. at the start of the 2012 season i think we played baggies early on and lost 3-0 with a skrtel- agger partnership and it was then i thought that one of these need to be moved on. in the end it was agger and probably rightly so as he was a decent but injury prone lovren has come in and i hope his form improves. skrtel is a good player, but won't be remembered as a carra or hypia in my book.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

31 Dec 2014 16:38:16
I find it incredible that he keeps getting picked given that he drops so deep and makes so many individual mistakes.

Agree1 Disagree2

Criticisms of Skrtel are not personal so I don't see why people, when defending players, try put this slant on arguments opposing their own. I don't hate Skrtel, or even dislike him and, as you say, he is a good professional. But he is not good enough, he makes mistakes (the same mistakes) again and again and his selection is of detriment to the team. He is criticised for this reason and this reason alone - it is not "abuse", it is legitimate criticism because, like most fans, the clubs well being is the thing that matters most.

A good servant to the club? He was dying to move on a few seasons ago wasn't he?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2014 11:13:38
Don't really see anyone coming in jan.

The players we got in the summer are only just starting to show why we bought them.

Glad Brendon has finally changed our style back to how we played last year, shame he didn't do it earlier or we would be closer to top 4 if not in it.

Our squad has a lot of room for improvement so to only be 5 points of top 4 saying how crap we've been, all is looking good for the new year.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

As if it's as simple as ''changing the style back to how it was''. BR isn't an person.

He has been talking about ''trying to get that intensity back'' for months.

Agree4 Disagree2

Yet stuck with stevie, skrtel, Allen balotelli johnson if you want intensity, these are not the players for it.

Agree0 Disagree4

31 Dec 2014 12:14:12
But Ouroboros, that 'Intensity' or 'pressing' is just running.
That's it, slightly synchronised running.
You seen any evidence of that? Either Rodgers isn't really trying to get the intensity back and he's happy with a different style, or he literally cannot motivate the players enough to run,
Either way, problem!

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - It was previously known as the "6 seconds of panic".}

Ouroboros

Rodgers has been saying it for months but without changing anything to do it.

Last couple of home games we have looked a lot better.

31 Dec 2014 13:54:54
These players aren't good enough. It's awful news, we need to move Borini and Mario on bringing in a goal scorer. We also need a keeper,, Cech would be nice

Luciano Vietto - has pace, scores with both feet, dubbed next Aguero, for me he's more like the old Torres. Potentially!

Everyone is reporting about vietto now.
Maybe there's something in it.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

There is nothing in it Benny I'm afraid mate. Eds has said as much. Rodgers has said Today that no signings in January so there you go.

Agree1 Disagree0

He has nobody else to blame but himself on that front. He has players in the squad and in the academy. He should use them.

31 Dec 2014 00:11:22
Would brendan rodgers consider replacing john acterberg as goalkeeping coach as i feel he has not got the best out of mignolet

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Mignolet in truth is only just a step up from Jones.

Agree2 Disagree3

Though Achterberg has done little to suggest he is a good goalkeeping coach I think Mignolet is simply not at the required level no matter who coaches him.
