I like the third kit. While watching the game this morning I thought it looked absolutely ok. Wouldn't buy it, but I've seen much worse LFC kits, home and away.

Believable14 Unbelievable14

31 Jul 2016 21:53:22
Yeah I think it's cool.
Can't beat all red for home kit. Like white for away kit. But as a 3rd kit luminous yellow ( Klopp thinks it's green 😎) looks cool. Memories of Dortmund kit no doubt.,

31 Jul 2016 23:37:49
Sorry Ron, hate to disagree with you mate but it's green all day long in my book 😎.

01 Aug 2016 00:05:11
I think it green too. I buy my spec from the same place kloop gets it. May be that's the reason.

01 Aug 2016 06:37:53
Who cares?! It's the performance, not the costume, that counts!

{Ed001's Note - tell that to Shankly, who thought it mattered enough to change us to all red in the first place. Another ill-informed bunch of crap from you.}

01 Aug 2016 08:09:45
True that, he wanted us all red to make players look taller wasn't it? Glad we didn't get Mourinho back in the day, he'd have had us back in white socks.

{Ed001's Note - yes. Well bigger. Not sure if he meant taller or more fearsome.}

01 Aug 2016 09:46:09
The green kit will look good on my little lads, I like it it stands out
I reckon the black one is a beast tho.

01 Aug 2016 11:02:35
Ok, i don't know what is happening in this thread but that florescent green kit is an abomination. it is horrible esp when you have darker skin. i for one won't be buying it. red (home) and black (away) already bought.

01 Aug 2016 11:41:05
To follow on from DBol's post, the one advantage of the 3rd kit is at least you won't risk losing your kids in a crowd.

01 Aug 2016 12:01:49
Looks great on my little lad!

01 Aug 2016 12:41:12
If too many fans wear that third kit to matches its going to look like the clubs been handing out free tickets to the local roadworks crews.

01 Aug 2016 14:26:34
When Chelsea had that orange fluorescent goalkeepers kit it was supposed to make cech more imposing and physically bigger! I guess of you see a huge orange man running out at you it would make you think twice!

01 Aug 2016 16:17:10
Fencey, depends if you are happy to be Tango'd.

01 Aug 2016 17:17:30
I love it, must be really useful for the players too.

31 Jul 2016 21:30:18
Hi Eds,

{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages.}

31 Jul 2016 20:11:44
Hats off to Jurgen Klopp for doing a 30min podcast for Anfield Wrap website, I can't say I know off any other manager that would give an interview for a fan site.

Believable24 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2016 09:03:43
Do you have a link to that interview? Thanks.

01 Aug 2016 12:18:30
Google Anfield Wrap.

31 Jul 2016 20:05:17
Does anyone recommend a good away pub for Burnley? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

01 Aug 2016 02:21:15
depends on how long you wanna be in hospital for.

{Ed007's Note - Haven't you seen The Inbetweeners film, mighty? And then there's their Suicide Squad! 40 bald, pink headed and very angry men whose eyes all go in different directions and who chew glass like we chew gum. Imagine Peggy Mitchell and Marty Feldman had kids.}

01 Aug 2016 04:31:35
Haha don't worry I don't wear Colours is it that bad?

01 Aug 2016 08:22:19
Wear that new green one mighty no one will notice you.

01 Aug 2016 12:41:12
Or they'll assume you're a traffic warden!

31 Jul 2016 19:37:35
i really hope Klopp finds a way to play with both Origi and Studge. I will hate to see one of them warming the bench. They together with Couts are the only players who could create goals from very little. I also think if one of them becomes a substitute they will not stay beyond this year.

Obvs if one of them is not fully fit or we have two games a week we will need to rotate but otherwise I really hope to see them both on the pitch. They are far ahead above any other forward players we have other than Couts and Firmino maybe.

Believable9 Unbelievable12

31 Jul 2016 20:16:48
I would not worry about that. with our injury record we should be glad if one of them is fit at any given time during next season.

31 Jul 2016 20:47:36
I think it's great.
We have a big squad with more options. It's going to be tough for opponents to prepare to face us as we have a lot of variety in our potential line-up.

Klopp knows what he's doing, we're going to embarrass quite a few teams this season.

31 Jul 2016 21:07:41
Can't see the problem in rotating them myself, keep them both (and Ings) fresh and competitive. Means they can also give it everything each game with a ready made replacement on the bench.

31 Jul 2016 22:12:00
We will need to fit Firmino in the starting eleven. He is pure class. I don't know how Klopp would play all of them together.

01 Aug 2016 10:46:07
You could play midfield diamond with Firmino in behind twin strikers. Can/ Hendo/ Coutinho midfield.

01 Aug 2016 13:50:13
Jesus haven't we all been seeing how great mane is, what a player we have on our hands there! Exactly what we was missing last year. As stated above we have a great squad now and strong competition with different qualitys for different scenarios and styles of opponent.

01 Aug 2016 14:01:40
Now that we are not overly dependent on Sturridge is a sign of things to come. Having a season hang on his fitness was too much for my passionate heart.

31 Jul 2016 17:31:30
I can't help but think we need an extra CM. With Lucas and Allen leaving, it leaves us with Hendo, Can and Grugic as our only natural first team CM's. Milner, Wijnaldum, Brannagan, Stewart can all fill in but either still developing or CM not natural position.

If we play 4-3-3, I think another body in the middle (as well as the obvious new LB) will be needed. Especially a defensive minded player!

Dahoud, Zeilinski, Mario all previously linked so it would seem strange if we don't bring in someone.

What's your thoughts on a new CM, Ed?

Believable3 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - we have plenty, we need to get rid of some midfielders if anything. Couts can play there.}

31 Jul 2016 18:48:34
More players isn't what we need. As it is we have near enough 2 first teams worth already plus subs.

31 Jul 2016 19:55:49
In a 2 man midfield we have Hendo, Can, Grujic, Stewart, Wijnaldum and Brannagan who can all play there.

In a three man midfield you can then also add Coutinho, Llalana, Milner that can all play in the more attacking roles (as Coutinho did to great effect in 13/ 14 and which I still believe is his most effective position)

I admit with Lucas gone we miss a top defensive mid but Can has shown strong signs of getting there, Stewart deserves a shot as his deputy for the role and Matip can also play there if really required.

31 Jul 2016 19:57:17
Sorry Ed, have to disagree that Coutinho can play CM, he's simply not physical enough and would leav us open at at the back. We don't have anyone who can put the boot in. Would really like us to sign Medel.

{Ed001's Note - he managed ok in the past and was extremely physical while doing it. Threw himself into a fair few tackles. If anything he offered much better protection than Can does.}

31 Jul 2016 20:14:51
Would of rather had cou in the 3 in the middle with mane and lallana on wings.

31 Jul 2016 20:57:21
Rodgers talked to Coutinho about becoming a classic number 8 (CM), which I think would suit him. He works hard, seems to track back well when it's asked of him, and I think it would help his creativity to drop back a little.

31 Jul 2016 20:57:36
Coutinho could play there, but why would we want him to? I'd rather see him in attacking positions where he can score and create. I also think it's a bit of a stretch to say he offers more protection than Can.

{Ed001's Note - his positional sense was much better when he was there in the deeper role. Can struggles badly with that.}

31 Jul 2016 21:57:09
We have been crying out for a ball carrying midfielder this pre-season and I think Coutinho could fit that profile. The season we nearly won the league he performed one of the two pressing midfield roles extremely well. We were vulnerable defensively because Gerrard was our holding midfielder. Coutinho defends well but from the front. If the phase of the opposition attack passes him after pressing the ball it does not mean he hasn't done his job or is necessarily weak defensively. The other thing evident in his play then was his ability to pick out through balls from deep. I feel this is something lost from his play when he plays higher up the pitch, where he takes the role on of shooting more frequently which is probably not the best facet of his game. I think he has the ability to play in a midfield 3 as one of two pressing midfielders, just wish we had signed Kante to sit in the midfield.

Cheers.

31 Jul 2016 23:22:58
Coutinho in Centre mid? Maybe more advanced in a midfield 3, but as a 2 in a 4-2-3-1. Not a chance.
I agree we have a bloated squad at the minute and we've bought players in positions which we weren't desperate to add to, but that doesn't change the fact we haven't replaced 2 CM's (Lucas, Allen) . Stewart and Brannagan are potentially good for the future, but we want a team to Challenge top4.
Someone who is happy to fight for his place and also happy to put a foot in would be excellent. Medel, Carvalho, Tolisso?

31 Jul 2016 23:23:12
Coutinho could be the next modric.

01 Aug 2016 00:12:43
I agree it would be a risk playing him in a 2 but if his partner was more defensively solid I could see him controlling things from deep in the way Cazorla now does/ did for Arsenal.

01 Aug 2016 01:55:00
Wijnaldum Coutinho Milner Henderson Can Brannagan Stewart and Ejaria can all play CM. Given our lack of games I wouldn't expect more cover for our midfield.

01 Aug 2016 17:21:57
I think we are very weak in centre midfield, just think back to the Southampton, Swansea, Newcastle, Man United, Sevilla defeats where teams ran through our centre midfield at will. There is a very specific need for a solid physically strong midfielder who can tackle, read the game and move the ball as quickly as possible. We have not addressed this and are going into the new season with the same problems.

Imagine if Henderson and Can are injured for a long period at the same time, which is perfectly plausible, is Milner and Wijnaldum a midfield pairing anyone could reasonably say filled them with confidence? We should make an effort to sign Gary Medel or someone similar to give us that solidity when needed.

31 Jul 2016 16:13:55
Eds what are your thoughts on klavan thus far? I think it was Nichols last night on the American broadcast that said something along the lines of solid. nothing fancy but consistent and solid and exactly what you need in a center back. I have been pleased with what I have seen thus far. He seems to be
Solid defensively, does not get burned alla lovren, no rash challenges like skittles and his pasing doeant raise my blood pressure like sahko. I hope he has a chance to start. Thoughts.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - I don't watch friendlies, they are irrelevant and tell you nothing about how a player will perform. I gave up watching them years ago when I realised how false an impression they give you of players' abilities.}

31 Jul 2016 16:32:27
Will be interesting to see how our defenders perform against Barcelona when the likes of Suarez and Messi will be playing, but so far there hasn't really been much of a challenge for our back 4. Moreno didn't even look bad last night.

31 Jul 2016 18:26:36
Thanks ed. Totally understand. Hope this translates to the regular season as he has been rock steady this far.

31 Jul 2016 21:42:47
So you won't even watch us play against Barcelona ed next week?

{Ed001's Note - even? Barca do not interest me in the slightest. They are one of the reasons football is being destroyed. I really can't stand them or Real Madrid.}

31 Jul 2016 22:40:52
'Friendlies are irrelevant', absolute rubbish Ed001. Tell that to the youngsters trying to get a look in!

{Ed001's Note - whatever, they are just training matches.}

01 Aug 2016 08:12:39
Firstly sakho has the best pass completion rate of all or cb's so quiet why he raises anyones blood pressure i don't know.

Second i agreed ragnar looks solid and neat in possession, but also agree with ed. We will not see what any of our players are made off until the season kicks off. We will then see who is really up for the fight when the going gets tough.

01 Aug 2016 09:40:52
Why? You not go the games much? He's like Bambi on ice in situations, especially when he dillies on the ball. I think people recognise his talent and ability, but there is that element of doubt based on those moments.

01 Aug 2016 09:49:48
I agree ed. I stopped taking them seriously when I seen Torres completely useless, and Voronin amazing.

01 Aug 2016 13:31:11
Carlitoc i guess i'm not as flakey as some people and recognise that he rarely gives the ball away and more often than not he finds his man. Believe me there are plenty of other things in my life that warrant raising my blood pressure which is already too high.

31 Jul 2016 14:42:10
Why are we sending Lucas to Turkey. It is very unsafe there atm.

Believable9 Unbelievable5

31 Jul 2016 15:26:50
I think your over exagerating massively there mate.

31 Jul 2016 15:40:23
What you mean sending? The player decides where he wish to move. Stop acting like a KID.

31 Jul 2016 17:42:13
Safer in Turkey than Liverpool.

01 Aug 2016 08:13:22
Davey, me thinks you need to keep up with current affairs.

31 Jul 2016 13:33:02
Right lads, I'm interested to know where you think your at now klopps put his own stamp on your squad. So, my question is, where do you think with the signings you have made, aswell as United, Cheslea, city etc, you will finish this season? I actually think you have a decent squad. I'm going to say 3rd or 4th for you. I think City and Cheslea will be top 2.hoenst answers lads don't let your heart rule your head. Anyone think you can win the league this year?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

31 Jul 2016 14:05:07
hmmm, the 64 million dollar question. i reckon we have a chance at top 4, i'm quietly confident. City will be right up at the top, Man u remain an enigma but I've little doubt that they will be there or there abouts this year. So.

1st City
2nd united
3rd Chelsea
4th Arsenal/ Tottenham/ Liverpool.

31 Jul 2016 14:16:52
Lots of changes in the squad, looks good on paper but depends on if Klopp can get them playing as a team quickly. Depends on injurys as well, Karius is a blow, means we start the season with the same problems at the back that have dogged us since migs arrived. To win the league I think a good solid start is a must for us, I worry with migs in goal.

31 Jul 2016 14:17:06
To be honest, am not to optimistic as lb still a big worry and also need to be better at breaking bus park day rides down. Hope am way wrong .

31 Jul 2016 14:18:28
my honest answer to that question is I think we can finish 4th, sadly I don't see us winning the title ( would love to be wrong about that though) where do you see utd finishing stand while we are playing nice?

31 Jul 2016 14:21:28
I see us challenging if we can get away with mignolet for 2 months and get a quality left back in. There is no excuses not to challenge in my eyes. Klopp got the players he wanted.

31 Jul 2016 14:25:27
City arsenal united Tottenham Chelsea Liverpool/ west ham (toss up there) with stoke/ Southampton not far behind. I'd like to say we're going to win the league or we're going to make 4th. But we're still a year or two off of that.

31 Jul 2016 14:42:07
I think City will win the league by a long way, and the rest of the top 4 will be us, Arsenal and United in no particular order. I think Spurs will be the next closest with Chelsea having another poor season. Personally I think Conte's overrated.

31 Jul 2016 14:38:09
We've got just as good of a chance of winning the league as any. We are deep at EVERY position except left back, and I think the manager is planning to use Milner there which I'm not too worried about honestly. That teenager Arnold has also impressed. To have backup strikers like Ings and origi is a real luxury.

31 Jul 2016 14:59:37
I don't think pep will do that we'll tbh. I think united will be solid. may even win the league. I am not sure about us but I think a lot hinges on the start we make as we have some real tough games early on. Karius is a major major blow. I think we definitely need that lb in ASAP. I'm not going to predict other teams but I hope we get top 4 and it's a good chance to do it. with new managers etc.

31 Jul 2016 15:02:13
I probably see us finishing 3rd or 4th to be honest. I think Mourinho will have us more organised than the last few years, and despite a couple of good signings I think our real weapons are a few of the kids. I think Rashford will go on to become a brilliant player, also have high hopes for Fosu mensah. If and its a big if, Pogba comes in, I think a midfield pairing of Pogba and Fosu mensah could be brilliant in a year or two. Bailly has good potential. Shaws like a new signing. I'd still like a top CB and another cm tho. De Gea staying is huge. Best in the world for me. So yeh, I'll say United 3/ 4. City 1st, Cheslea 2nd, Arsenal 5th.

31 Jul 2016 15:08:49
Leicester proved it's not about having big names in your team think luck and avoiding injuries is key I'd hope we challenge for title I think not being in Europe could be a blessing.

31 Jul 2016 15:09:11
Top 4 will be a huge ask without a LB and Mignolet until November. But we have as much chance as City Utd and Spurs. Chelsea I think will struggle to return to top 4 immediately.
Arsenal are always in amongst it and add one surprise, West Ham or a promoted side might gate crash.

My guess will be 5th, but a huge improvement from last season and enough to look like the following 17/ 18 season we could be genuine title contenders.

I'd like to think we'll win a cup, FA hopefully.

Saying that, in my heart I think we'll win the title but I know above is more realistic.

31 Jul 2016 15:12:55
I think we will be in the thick of it for 4th most of the season and fade to 6th by the end.

31 Jul 2016 15:13:14
I think sadly it will be the two Manchesters 1-2. Really hard to predict the rest. For us to finish top 4 and definitely top 2 a lot of things have to be put in place and integrate amazingly well. Not sure we are there yet but i hope i am wrong. A key will be to keep because (Couts, Origi Studge) fit and massivly improve our defense.

31 Jul 2016 15:27:52
Without geting injurys I could see us up there . Are attacking options is up there with the the Manchester clubs . But it could all change if wenger buys a top class st.

31 Jul 2016 15:29:22
Fano, if we have to integrate, the 2 mancs will have to integrate more.

31 Jul 2016 15:39:10
The funny thing is, I feel most of the top 6-8 will actually be competing for a top 4 position. The league is scary with this amount of competition, so most of them will be looking at top 4 as a "win".
And the battle for the league will come later on, I think.
And top 4, is anyones pick, to be honest.
Nothing is stopping Leicester from competing for top 4. As much as most think it was luck with no injuries, they still played a great season.
The old top 4, is still competing, Chelseas had a bad start last season, but I feel that was something more than just a bad run.
So for top 4 it could be anyone from Liverpool, Man United, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham, Leicester. Then add Southhampton and Stoke into the mix, and its going to be one tough, but exciting season.

31 Jul 2016 15:42:28
Top 6 at best, Being a believer and realistic. Too many If's and But's will haunt us through out. Nothing to do with the manager or players. The teams above us will have supreme quality on the pitch.

31 Jul 2016 15:43:06
Lots of people seem to think City have this one wrapped up but i think it's going to be a big ask for Pep, veeery different league from the ones he has managed in so far. Harder opposition week in week out and his team is not as good. I think he will need some time.

I'm going into this season with no expectations whatsoever. The top positions are going to be a complete free for all between the classic big 4 plus city, tottenham and leicester. Anyone could finish anywhere.

31 Jul 2016 15:48:28
Of course we can win the league, only a doubter would think otherwise. We all play 38 games and we all start at 0 points.
I think we definitely will win the league, I don't care where any other team finishes, I'd be happy if it were Burnley, Boro and Hull 2,3 and 4. 😎.

31 Jul 2016 15:56:03
I really don't think Chelsea will be up to much this season. They'll do better than last, but I think they'll struggle against the top teams, the season after I think we'll see Chelsea come back to life though.

I'm going to go against the grain and say Arsenal will win it this year, as they have the least amount of adjusting to do.

Arsenal
City
Liverpool
United.

31 Jul 2016 16:10:56
Honestly, i think pep will flop. City to finish outside 5/ 6th.

31 Jul 2016 16:38:40
I think we will finish 4th at best and, if we continue to ignore/ mismanage (sending Flanno on loan an example) the problems we have at the back *cough* full-backs *cough* then probably EL places. The squad is huge and we have made a number of bizarre transfers as well as some good ones. Most fans were in general consensus last season: GK and LB are the two area's of most pressing need. The GK we bought is injured meaning we still have our previous, poor GK to look forward to and so far have failed to strengthen in the weakest area by far in our team. We lingered and refused to pay extra for our first choice and is unsure who we will end up signing. We seem to be making similar mistakes in the transfers and it is a worry - attacking wise we are as good as most teams in the league, defensively we are miles behind.

31 Jul 2016 16:49:43
I am surprised people are not more worried herr, or in the case of the original poster hopefol about United chances. I hate to say it but they are the only team who I just don't see finish lower than 2. Mourinhu, Zlaten and I don't care how old he is, few other good signings, De Gea in goal. At the moment I can see only a brilliant City as a team who may finish above them. Again, I hope I am wring.

31 Jul 2016 17:26:10
😄😄 Blinded by the transfer window.
Zlatan has been "playing" in France. It is chalk and cheese comparing it to the premier league. He is in for a BIG shock.
Jose, well we've all worked him out, we know his M. O. and he was ruthlessly exposed at Chelsea last season.
He has never beaten Klopp.

Don't worry about Man Utd, they are no threat to us. 😎.

31 Jul 2016 17:27:40
Hi ed's

we neeed a poll/ post where we can say where we will finish and then look back at the end of the season.

We want ed's to also take punt and we all will see how we do.

what say guys?

{Ed002's Note - 5th.}

31 Jul 2016 17:46:22
Big Al, no excuse not to challenge?

We weren't good enough last season and the new players take time to gel.

Do you expect miracles?

31 Jul 2016 17:47:55
Mignolet must have a voodoo doll of any keeper that takes his place. The last time he was dropped i think it was jones got injured after about two and a half games. 😤.

31 Jul 2016 17:49:51
I think man u depends on how all the players take to mourinho and his methods it always seems to be all or nothing with him (hopefully nothing this season from our point)

City depend on aguero at this minute because if he got a long term injury early in the season I'd genuinely rule them out he makes such a difference to that team.

Chelsea I can see making progress but wouldn't personally put them in the top 4 this year could see them drawing a lot of games.

Arsenal will be there somewhere just on history more than anything

Tottenham and Leicester depends on how they cope with Europe.

Personally wouldn't rule out west ham/ everton for the top 4

Liverpool as usual there's a lot of ifs. if origi continues to flourish and we don't get crippled with injuries and we don't lose a coutinho or firmino in the windows then there isn't a limit on where we can finish. I am cautiously optimistic and would say 2/ 3 place finish!

31 Jul 2016 17:50:01
Man city
Liverpool
Tottenham
Chelsea.

31 Jul 2016 17:51:20
Honestly think unless performances become more consistent Liverpool will be 6-8th.

31 Jul 2016 17:52:02
I'd say we end up 6th, but just a handful of points off 4th.

31 Jul 2016 18:16:56
Definitely top 4 for me, and we could even win the title. Why not? I clearly remember 2013/ 2014. We weren't spectacular in defense. We weren't spectacular in midfield. And in attack we had Suarez and Sturridge that provided the wave that dragged the whole team forward by simply scoring more goals than we let in, in enough games. With the strikers we have now (Sturridge, Origi, Ings) and the attacking midfielders (Coutinho, Firmino, Mane and Wijnaldum) we have enough firepower to create and ride a wave. Doesn't have to be just one player knocking in the goals. This is over simplified of course, but it's basically all that we need. I also see the team losing it's "inconsistency" factor because it clearly angers Klopp and he's not going to allow it to continue. The 3 main title contenders (ManU, ManC and Chelsea) have new managers, two of which are managing for the first time in this league (Guardiola and Conte) and one manager who is capable of both briliance and disaster (Mourinho) . So the path for these 3 is not going to be easy. We can definitely win the title!

31 Jul 2016 18:24:17
Really hard this year as so many changes. I think pep for first time is in more than a 2 league team and may not find it quite as easy. Utd will be better but what they have a still see as no better than us. Chelsea will be a lot better. However I still think city will win it
City
Chelsea
Lfc
Arsenal
Utd
Spurs
Saints
Everton
West ham
Stoke
Leicter
With only 10 to 15 points between top and 6th.

31 Jul 2016 18:31:07
I think it's too early to truly predict as a right signing by the right team can really alter the outcome. Such as Pogba for Utd.
Unfortunately it's that lot for me, they have a truly great manager in Mourinho who will set them up well and probably enough firepower to see them through. I just don't understand those who doubt Ibrahimovic based on his playing in France. do those same people question the ability of lacazette? Or Origi who was awful in his last year in that same league? Or is it just a useful argument to support their opinion?
He has scored goals everywhere he has played and he brings so much more to the team than just goals.
Arsenal is that team where the right signing could mske a massive difference, but I doubt they'll make it based on previous years.
Chelsea will finish top 4 based on their ability to avoid defeats. But the style of play will stop them getting the top positions. City are the unpredictable for me. along with us! I expect 4th but higher is not a dream. lower is an absolute failure which wI'll lead to serious doubts about our ability to challenge at the top.
My greatest fear is the continuation of our inability to get more goals from midfield. Origi who will be 1st choice is destined for great things. but he will be inconsistent and I worry for us on those days that he is.

31 Jul 2016 18:38:08
We're Guna win the league,
We're Guna win the league,
.

31 Jul 2016 18:39:09
Davey Mate, what was klopp brought in for? He's had a season under his belt and again for got the players he wanted. Certainly wernt my choices. My answers an arrogant one because I think it's fully justified. If we are not seriously challenging for the league then it's a failure of a season In my eyes.
Klopp wasn't brought in to finish 5th and 6th with what I'm reading from fans. Klopp wasn't hired to finish where the majority of yall are saying. So yes I fully expect us to challenge And be in the mix atleast top 3.

31 Jul 2016 18:47:41
I think you boys have a major advantage this season in that you don't have a new manager like us, city and Chelsea, and you don't have midweek European trips. If ever you had a chance this surely has to be it?

31 Jul 2016 19:00:08
Agree with Stand-United and Whentheredsgomarchingin.

Never understood the point in worrying about other teams, we can beat anyone so all we have to do is get behind the team.

31 Jul 2016 21:00:23
Im in it to win it Stand, last year should tell everyone what's possible, a one off season or not they won it so everyone will now be thinking they've a real chance, i like our squad and how its coming together and i like Klopp, i think we'll be top 3.

31 Jul 2016 21:56:19
It's minimum top four for me this year. Klopp has more time with the squad this year. Think that extra few days preparing for games is going to a major factor. Bring it on.

31 Jul 2016 22:21:47
5th or 6th I would say at the moment. LB fixed before start of the season and I will say 4th.

31 Jul 2016 23:57:34
I have a feeling the EPL will be a very open league this season, given the amount of money and quality even mid table teams have. There will be fewer easy games and it will all come down to consistency.
Lack of European Football may help a few of the teams as well. I see the following lineup for TOP 6:

1. Arsenal
2. Tottenham
3. Liverpool
4. Man Utd
5. Man City
6. West ham

Chelsea, Leicester to be thereabouts.

01 Aug 2016 01:41:58
I believe city will struggle this season. Pep tactics will be exposed in this league. The weaker teams here are prepared to let you have 80% possession and could destroy you on the counter and are way better than the weaker teams in Germany or Spain.

United could be buying their way to the top. Yes they wasted a lot of money in the past years but Jose knows what he is doing. The hold back in previous years is due to Lvg.

Chelsea is going to be boring to watch this year. Lots of 1-0 I would suspect. They should be quite defensive to protect their slow back 4 unless they get someone else in.

Arsenal are well, Arsenal. They blew it last year although Leicester played really well.

Leicester and Tottenham should have decent seasons but I do not see them maintaining the consistency of last seasons.

Liverpool are going to give some teams a hiding this season. But there's some doubt over their mentality to grind out wins when the game is scrappy. If we can get some momentum going I'm not going to rule us out. The league is wide open.

Letting my heart rule my head a little here but I'm quietly confident and do think we have a real chance.

1. Liverpool
2. United
3. Chelsea
4. Arsenal.

{Ed007's Note - One of the things I'm really looking forward to is Guardiola falling flat on his face and finally getting found out. It's harder to fail at Barca and Bayern Munich than be a success so we'll find out this season what he's made of.}

01 Aug 2016 08:23:39
5th to 8th depending on how main protagonists play. We have not bought well enough and fluffed our lines on replacing the main problem child that is moreno.

We have failed to acheive anything with better teams than we currently have. So with heavy heart i predict another disappointing season from the league perspective. However i fully expect us to win one of the domestic cups.

Agree with pep and man city failing, i expect mour to make united competitive again and conte will grind down a lot of teams with his style but can not see them winning it.

Xhaka could be the missing piece for arsenal, spurs will be strong again and i would not discount everton who now have a competent manager. It will be very exciting and competitive this year, looking forward to it.

Hi redmen,

If you like I will provide the loan updates for the coming season again.
However I've not kept track of who has gone where? Cab anybody provide the info?
Hopefully the loanees will have more success this season with the 75% playing time being part of the loan deals.

Well done for this, enjoyed reading it last season. Don't worry about tracking Bogdan.

Yep keep it up pal 👍👍.

31 Jul 2016 14:55:23
Defo keep it up mate was good to hear how the loans were getting on last season an this year should be even better with the loans not just getting treated as an afterthought by the club. YNWA.

31 Jul 2016 15:37:21
That'd be great 23carragold! Great to keep an eye on how everyone's doing!

As I've said on here, I'll be updating everyone on Danny Ward's progress at Huddersfield Town as I commentate on the club's home games!

As I'm gushing with praise I'd also like to say thank you to the ed's who work tirelessly managing these pages and who provide so many interesting pieces of insight and information - this is the only sports website I read and I thank all the ed's for their work and patience, it really is appreciated.

How did young arnold get on at rb this morning?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

31 Jul 2016 12:38:49
I thought he looked good had no major issues to deal with, one thing I can say tho is Milner looked pretty solid at lb too. I don't for a second think Milner our answer to our lb problem but this Milan side where sooo poor. I can't quiet believe how a super power as big as Milan has fallen so much in the last few years.

31 Jul 2016 12:42:42
Just watched it. Thought he looked really good. Nice touch, calm possession and good pace. Made the odd mistake, but it's not his natural position. At 17 he didn't look out of place at all.

Speaking of pace. Ojo. Wow.

31 Jul 2016 11:13:19
Anyone thought about possibly trying to sign Ben mee for left back. Decent defensively and has a good delivery.

Believable1 Unbelievable9

31 Jul 2016 11:11:14
How about a little hijack? Left back Ludde Augustinsson of FC København is on his way to West Ham. 5-6m £ rumoured to be the fee. Last time we had a swedish defender we did OK in the league.

31 Jul 2016 11:31:17
Actually Hysen only had one good season, he was shocking after that.

31 Jul 2016 12:31:47
That was because Hanson carried him.

31 Jul 2016 13:36:43
Find us another Finn.

31 Jul 2016 14:53:43
Augustinsson is actually quite good. Decent speed, smart going forward, composed on the ball, solid defensively. Can't believe Sweden played headless Martin Olsson at the euros. Cresswell will have to work hard to get his place back when he returns from injury if they get LA.

31 Jul 2016 16:14:28
Augustinsson is not that good. On the bench for sweden to Martin Olsson who was on the bench for Norwich.

Wijnaldum was functional.

He was there, might have got more praise if Sturridge finished his lay off. He was ok. Made a good run from deep, first half was a bit dull overall so no one stood out.

01 Aug 2016 17:11:55
The opposition seemed to make the game a snoozefest as Milan didn't seem to fancy it. We'll know more about this team vs Roma and Barca.

Morning Eds and all,

So I wanted to ask what is happening with Markovic, but before I did this I thought what do the Eds always say?
Ping! An idea forms and I searched for the post :o And there I found posts about the player.
It really works people, type the name in the search bar and voila.
This message is in support of all the Eds and posters that have to repeatedly direct people to search posts.

31 Jul 2016 10:07:43
Okay, only a friendly but very pleased with our performance this morning and with how Jurgen's new-look squad's coming together.
Would love to see more of Trent Alexander-Arnold (very composed today), Cameron Brannigan, Harry Wilson, Ovie Ajaria and Sheyi Ojo (superb tonight) .
Moreno played okay but I'd love us to sign Jetro Willems or Hector (in that order) and Gary Medel (not hopeful) . Can't understand the decision to let Flanagan go out on loan except it may give us a closer relationship with Burnley in the future.
It would seem that Lucas Leiva, Benteke and Mario Balotelli have joined Jurgen's departure lounge but I would seriously urge Klipperty to keep an open mind in respect of his attacking options.
Christian Benteke is famously "unsuited" to Jurgen's style but Klipperty once tried to sign him.
Benteke's stats are seriously good.
i KNOW £34M Is a lot to turn down for a bench-warmer and I would say take the money and get Ayew plus a defender of some quality if we were to sell Benteke.

Believable1 Unbelievable14

31 Jul 2016 10:14:39
Agree with your analysis of the game - a lot of positives there for sure!

However I really don't think Benteke needs replacing with another attacker (Ayew) . We are overrun at the moment and could field two teams we have so many! For a team not in Europe that is wholly unnecessary.

31 Jul 2016 10:40:00
We are overrun with strikers.
Now where have I heard that before?

31 Jul 2016 10:43:34
We should use the Benteke money on a lb . Playing Milner there is a joke to him and to the the club.

31 Jul 2016 10:50:06
Really Barry? Klopp often plays one up top. We have sturridge, origi, ings, balo, benteke and firmino has played there, never mind the odd space on the bench for a youngster.

31 Jul 2016 11:34:05
Sorry Barry, missed the sarcasm on first read.

01 Aug 2016 17:13:46
Pete, Benteke's stats are very misleading. He scored ten goals in the league but also went eleven games without scoring hence, stats means nothing. We don't need to replace a striker who would not make the stands. That makes no sense. Klipperty never tried to sign him nor placed a bid. Ed said he explored the idea but decided against it. Now Origi? Klopp DID try to sign but he was late to the party as he already signed him.

31 Jul 2016 09:00:53
Ed1, hope you enjoyed your birthday and also hope that ed2 bought you a lovely gift?

Doctor think that Markovic has a future at the club? He's featured quote a lot in preseason unlike those who appear to have no chance of getting game time.

Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he is likely to leave mate, he is certainly available for transfer, but he is not being pushed out of the door. If he decides to stay and fight for his place, then he could have a future, if he performs when it matters.}

31 Jul 2016 11:34:24
I for one hope he stays and fights for his place. I felt he never got fair crack from Brendan playing him as a wing back. Still only 22 I think, so I would be pleased if he hangs around and makes a go of it.

31 Jul 2016 11:39:45
I just don't get Markovic. Every time i watch him play i'm desperate to see something special from him to understand the hype and the large transfer fee. But all i see is an ok player who can show a burst of speed occasionally but very little else. Right now i would say that Ibe showed a lot more of his ability when he was with us yet he was moved on. I would also prefer Milner on the right than Markovic. c'mon Marko, please prove me wrong,

31 Jul 2016 12:39:18
I always got the impression that Markovich was really not much better than Ibe, but because he was 1 foreign and 2 had a few caps (regardless of what the competition for places was like) we spent a lot of money on him. Then found he wasn't the finished deal and needed to develop a lot more. So he and Ibe, who both needed to develop as wingers were played as wing backs.

01 Aug 2016 17:14:33
He was just another BR splurge with no thought behind how he would be used. Same with Ilori.

31 Jul 2016 08:25:49
Friendly or not, the way Origi took his goals (one of which was wrongly ruled out for an inept offside decision) was fantastic to see.

Sturridge really has got his work cut out. On paper Danny is the better player, but (and this was the case for the back end of last season as well which saw Origi become first choice) as soon as you put Origi on the pitch he debunks every stat, every general consensus etc. He truly is a sensational young player. It is amazing how much he has come on under Klopp. At Lille and under Rodgers he just looked like Belgium's answer to Danny Welbeck!

Now though he has so obviously worked on the key facets of his game (namely upper body strength which has helped him hold players off) that he looks like he is potentially a complete forward. Hats off to the young man. He hasn't let his injury stunt his development which is another indicant of his excellent attitude.

Absolutely brilliant to have Origi and Ings both scoring goals already. It will force Sturridge to up his game, and a Sturridge on form up front with either of these lads could be frightening!

Believable20 Unbelievable3

31 Jul 2016 08:43:24
Good win last night.
First half. dominated possession again but no goals.
Mane came close on a couple of occasions. Sturridge looked a bit sharper but drew a blank.
Second half. AC Milan just couldn't cope with Origi and for me, he should be the first name on team sheet. Pace, power and skill all on show.
Great ball from Moreno too, to put Origi through for a very good goal.
Ojo looked impressive when he came on and he set up Firmino for the second goal.
I'd be sorry to see Markovich go because he put in a really good performance.
Not sure about Milner covering at left back in the first half.
He can tackle, but will struggle against speedy wingers.
All in all. a good performance and work out for the lads.

31 Jul 2016 08:49:06
Happy to see you have come around to my way of thinking MKS. Six months ago (after the Southampton game) I wrote glowingly about Origi ("maybe the next Drogba") and you were not convinced (to put it mildly. But once again. I really like him. A different kind of striker from Sturridge - less technical and more physical - and I see him getting better and better.

31 Jul 2016 09:52:20
I have to old my hands up regarding Origi.

I never thought he was a bad player. But I also only ever saw him as a hard working left forward. I never dreamed he'd have the quality to lead the line alone. But he is arguably one of our nest players now. As Liver_La, Origi may well be the first name on the team sheet!

31 Jul 2016 10:32:36
Origi's still not proven himself as clinical a finisher over the course of a season as Sturridge yet (although a few more goals like that and I'll happily change that view) but the fact he's improved so much makes him a real challenger IMO because he brings other strengths to the table.

The physicality he possesses allows him to hold up the ball better than Sturridge and bring others into play as well. His passing and technique in tight spaces are remarkable for a big lad. Wih Couts, Firmino, Mane and Gini breaking forward behind him, I think there's a chance the team as a whole scores more often when he's on the pitch. He will also be more effective as an outlet when we're under pressure at the back and looking to play on the break.

I'm Glad we have both options on the bench and also wouldn't mind seeing them together every now and again in a diamond midfield, think they'd complement each other well.

Looking forward to next season!

31 Jul 2016 12:09:54
Milan is as good as any championship team and pre season friendlies are not the right time to pass any judgement on players. We ll see who stands up against Arsenal at the Emirates.

31 Jul 2016 12:30:29
I think between origi sturridge ans ings we have 3 decent strikers all with different attributes. And if Klopp can work some good rotation between and keep them happy then we could be a bit of force.

31 Jul 2016 18:54:51
And to think before he joined up with us, while on loan that season people had already written him off . I think it shows that we need to give players the time and support .
I totally agree with you MK and imo is fast becoming a fan favourite.

31 Jul 2016 19:19:57
It has been going on till he got injured.

Liberal, how did Sturridge look sharper? He was awful like usual. People are masked by goals and don't see how he blunts the whole teams attack. People moan at benteke for not being in the box but Sturridge is always dropping deep giving us no focal point at all.

01 Aug 2016 17:15:18
After his Southampton hatrick, I knew Origi would come good. After he bullied the Great Hummels vs Dortmund, I said to myself that he HAS come good. Klopp has no mercy for slackers, go ask Benteke. Hence, Studge had better be ready to get stuck in because Origi is coming for him.

31 Jul 2016 08:24:26
Hi ed001 can i just ask who exactly your refering to as the wrong people at the top of the club? Not being awkward would just like to hear your opinion, thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - most of them mate, we have business people rather than football people running the club and they make decisions based on their experiences of their own businesses. Football is different though. You can't apply value measurements in the same way, as value is very relative when it comes to players, which are the main assets.}

31 Jul 2016 08:57:18
Thanks for the reply ed001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

31 Jul 2016 09:59:18
thats why england hav nt done anything in 50 years, when you see the muppets they have had selecting managers. it just doesn't work!

31 Jul 2016 14:25:27

01 Aug 2016 17:16:24
That is what destroyed OM in the early 2000's, something they have not recovered.

31 Jul 2016 05:58:44
ED01, I was going thru posts on the rumors page and saw your comment abt the club still being run badly in terms of finances ie the fee we are willing to play for players Klopp wants.

I feel this is really alarming and they are setting up Klopp to fail. Why not just back him and get the players he want instead of pissing abt with other clubs for few million and then paying over the top for a player who Klopp never wanted in the first place.

I don't like this at all and I had hoped the club would learn after the shambles that was BR's last season.

Who are these people?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - because we still have the wrong people at the top of the club. Ayre goes soon, maybe things will improve then, if someone who is a bit more of a football person takes over. I don't necessarily mean an ex-player, just someone with more understanding of the game and less of a beancounter.}

31 Jul 2016 05:08:10
the good news is that origi looks like he will be carrying on where he left off before his injury, brilliant goal and all round forward play. ojo's pace is frightening just needs to improve his final ball and his shooting.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

31 Jul 2016 06:47:31
I agree with Origi but not ojo. Ojo' touches been very poor. Yes pace but decision making is horrid and he is selfish. U realise he actually attempting a weak shot which got to Firmino for the 2nd goal? If u observe carefully, Klopp's been screaming his head off at Ojo whole match.

31 Jul 2016 07:54:47
Yes he is attempting a shot (not sure about weak), but he also ran 50m to catch a ball that seemed lost. So he's not entirely selfish to even run into the channels like that! Fact is, his hard work, skill, and desire led to a goal. I don't care if he got lucky. He is 19 .

31 Jul 2016 09:20:30
If u really wan hardworking ppl, get the farmers or bricklayers in. Seriously we do not wan hardwork without end result. The reason he able to sprint 50m is bcos he comes in half time as sub. How many 50m sprint does he make a match? No, sorry, he needs to improve vastly when having possession.

31 Jul 2016 10:04:23
He is 19! Of course he needs to improve.

I'm sorry Lee but this goes down as one of the most ridiculous criticisms I've ever seen.

A 19 year old has come on and single handedly created a goal (albeit with a large slice of luck) and you are trying to find a negative in it. Ojo is an excellent young player, and if you can't see that, more fool you!

Who cares how many 50m sprints he makes? How is that relevant? Fact is, when the scenario raised he rose to the challenge, powered past a defender who had a massive head start, and then at the end of the sprint still had to stamina and composure to face up and beat an experienced defender and get a shot away which ultimately led to a goal. Yes, Ojo needs to get his head up in the final third. He is a kid and that is a pretty standard fault for young attackers, that can and will be coached.

31 Jul 2016 10:09:33
It's preseason lads, no need to get on the players backs.

31 Jul 2016 10:20:35
Only Leek would turn Ojo assisting a goal into a chance to deride a player.

31 Jul 2016 03:33:35
Ed001, do you agree that Coutinho needs to do a bit more this season, more goals and assists? Rumours were flying about that he was linked with Barcelona but until he improves then he will hardly get on for us this season, he was decent in a half decent side last year, I personally love the wee guy but he goes missing far too often for me!

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - he just needs to show more consistency, but then so does the team, so it is not all about how he plays.}

31 Jul 2016 12:24:30
If you look back at all our goals last season (there's a YouTube compilation) he scored quite a lot and was involved a lot IMO. More than I'd remembered.

30 Jul 2016 21:34:59
To Edda 01 do you think Moreno may improve with the new players that have come in given time as they may more vocal and tell him what to do . Just hoping one of them maybe more vocal and tell them there positioning, and I still feel there are lots more players going to be sold and more coming in.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I did hope for that, but he clearly does not have the intelligence needed on the pitch to be good enough. He shouldn't need someone to shout at him to tell him to stop lunging in, he should have realised it is a mistake by now, but he continues to do so. So no, he just doesn't learn, so he won't get better, at least not to a significant degree.}

31 Jul 2016 12:25:28
Kloppo loves to unload a torrent of abuse on Moreno 😄, one of the best bits about watching the lad play.

Ed1 I've said re moreno- he's doing the same things now as he did at sevilla so obviously he's not going to learn.

{Ed001's Note - exactly. Different coaches are not helping, so it is clear that it is time to give up on him.}

He's a lost cause. He plays with too much emotion and not enough brains. Again, he made a ridiculously stupid challenge today. This time he luckily missed the player.
