Hey eds,

Wasn't sure how to look this up so thought I would ask on here, I may have a chance to be in England after Dec 15th for a bit and was looking at the fixture list and the closest game would be the Watford away game. I was then wondering if we would have a midweek game that the fixture list isn't showingo because games such as the europa knockout games haven't been put out until the end of the group stage. I was just wondering when those games would be if there is any way to know.

Thanks
Elrobbenino.

Ed002, you've said in the past that we need to balance the books financially so my question is; who could leave in January to help out financially? So if you have time, a possible outs list would be much appreciated!
Thanks Ed.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I cannot guarantee any outs in January - the club would like Enrique gone. The club will know of interest in Sakho. The club know that players are on loan to buy deals which will possibly give funds before the break point of June 30.}

03 Dec 2015 21:13:56
Cheers for the reply mate. So do you think he can be a long term option for us?

Personally I wouldn't choose him over Sakho but I would choose him over Skrtel even though he has improved recently.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I am not convinced he is the answer to replacing Skrtel either.}

03 Dec 2015 22:13:00
Who are you referring to subotic? Sakho has to be number 1 no matter who is bought?

In the last 5 years, what performance does people think is the best? There were many excellent performances in the 2013/2014 season but under Klopp we've already had some blinders- so what is our best I ask?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2015 21:10:26
Arsenal or Everton at anfield.

I think the performances were top notcd but also the suprise of how we went about it, I was so nervous going against arsenal. I out the game on and couldn't believe what I was watching same as Everton.

Then tnete is continuos' goal against city and that game was special.

Under klopp were doing well but we don't seem to have that jaw droppingness just yet. Were playing well but not were your just like OMG.

Agree3 Disagree8

04 Dec 2015 01:30:39
Is a 6-1 drubbing of The Saints and a 4-1 whitewash of Champions-elect City, both on their own patch, not jaw dropping enuff for you, Paulo?

Agree5 Disagree2

04 Dec 2015 03:10:09
The recent win against city for me great team performance, I can't take credit I know but I ran home on a 30 deg day in Brisbane Australia to wash my supporters top ready for the game that night, now my feeling is that effort some how transferred to the players.

Agree3 Disagree1

04 Dec 2015 03:26:26
Come on you must have some serious short sightedness to not understand what paulo is trying to say. Those games where such dominant performances from minute 1 to minute 90. Against Chelsea we had 30 seconds included in injury time that allowed us to score, and it wasn't like we where knocking on the door before that. Against city we played there worst possible centre back pairing, it was an impressive result and is out most impressive performance against city especially that first half. Against the saints we responded really well but we where all over the place for the first 15-20 mins if wanyama scored that header it would have been game over, still we scored 6 amazing goals to thrash them, but it wasn't in the same manner in which we annihilated Spurs away, Everton and Arsenal at home.

That season was almost a miracle, it was like almost the fairytale ending to Gerrards illustrious career which makes those games that bit more special. We are not there yet under klopp because there is no Suarez to match that.

It's not shortsighted it's called having a opinion.

Ed001 I remember asking you when Klopp was first appointed if he could get the best out of Lovren?

To which you replied that you felt he might have to leave Liverpool to rebuild career.

Do you think that is still the case or are you seeing enough improvement to convince you that he become a top centre back for us?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the issue is, and always will be, he has Sakho to compete with. Would you consider him over Sakho?}

03 Dec 2015 21:33:58
Ed002 has said that we will likely receive an offer in Jan for Sakho of a Loan to buy. ?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2015 00:03:15
Sakho 1st choice. Every time.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Dec 2015 01:09:55
Lovren can play left side and right, so would be a good enough back up, if we had a solid first choice, for example sakho +1. Skrtel is playing wel at the moment, and may fight harder for his place, plus is older, more experienced and has been here longer, and he does give 100% which I'm not sure lovren does. I'd hope by next year, we'd have sakho plus a right sided centre back, skrtel second, and Gomez being a capable replacement for any of the back four too.

Bit of a fun Question for all Eds included.

1- Fave game under klopp
2- Most improved under klopp

For me watching BR struggle to ever get anything against Chelsea i'd say the 3-1 win is my fave game.

most improved for me is lovren, went from a train wreck to solid defender and he hasn't been 1st choice under klopp until sakho injury so its about 5 games he's become solid and will only get better.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - 1. Last night against Southampton
2. Lovren.}

Edd001 think he'll play lovren Sakho?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if there is a need to, I am sure he would, but Skrtel is playing well so why do that?}

Wow, just learnt about the Enrique substitution incident. Absolutely disgraceful. But I remember Neymar trying to show some trickery in the dying moments of a match, which Barcelona had already seemingly won, didn't go down well with bilbao players and even Enrique criticized it. How did the opposition manager react to this incident?

Great read btw! Will be looking forward to these from now on. Thanks!

03 Dec 2015 13:35:10
We not only beat, but absolutely thrashed a full strength Southampton side (arguably Fonte is better than Caulker tbf) with a lot of squad players in our match day squad and some really big names missing.

My man Brad Smith finally gets a chance in the first team and whips in a peach! Randall had a shakey first 20 minutes but then grew into the role. Bogdan was excellent. Claimed crosses for fun and couldn't do anything about the goal (Moreno got caught flat footed) . Ibe, what a goal and what an assist for Origi's second. ORIGI! Wow. His second and third goals were oustanding. Also great to see Sturridge back and instantly among the goals. Hendo looked off the pace but he's been out for a long time. With Can banned for Newcastle i imagine he will start though. Also hats off to Allen, Lovren and Skrtel. You lads take some stick here but i think all 3 players had their best game in an LFC shirt for a long time. And Can. Omg. To think Rodgers had him in defence?! A Ronaldo chop and an outside of the boot through ball that Gerrard would've been proud of! Lucas did what he always does; ties it all together.

The only player i was disappointed in was Lallana. I think the crowd got to him with the booing. To have a stadium full of people that once idolised you for years suddenly booing you is a feeling most of us can't even imagine. So i can't comment on how it must've made him feel. His performance was hard working but he just looked off the pace.

If we can translate our away form to our home games, there is no limit to what we can achieve this season though. YNWA!

Believable10 Unbelievable8

03 Dec 2015 14:36:28
Agreed with all you posted, EMS BUT that was not a Ronaldo Chop by Can. It was a RONALDIHNO chop. Brilliant!

03 Dec 2015 14:46:21
I'd keep the team that started with coutinho and firminho in. Sturridge and origi starring and no james milner but I think he will start. Playing great atm.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 15:13:57
I really was worried watching Randall at the back. Whether it was him growing into the game or Southampton heads and pressure dropping, he can only learn by playing. Can's attempted block on the cross for their goal was rather comical, sums his defensive ability. We do need to figure out how we are going to play against teams at Anfield though when they sit and counter, but if Klopp can sort that, which I am confident he will, we can only improve. Good to have the feel good factor back.

Agree7 Disagree2

03 Dec 2015 18:16:43
Randall was dodgy defensive wise . Didn't stop the crosses.

Agree4 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - he got better as the game wore on, he is still learning the role, this was a good learning experience for him.}

03 Dec 2015 21:35:23
Wasn't impressed with Smith but benefit of the doubt in his first game in the 1st team for a while, looked lost defensively and going forward and didn't keep his shape well. But I'll reserve full judgement till I have seen him more. Good cross though.

Bogdan could have come for that cross, Can shouldn't have sold himself and Moreno was caught, I wouldn't simply blame Moreno there.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 11:09:15
Not many comments about Origi. Three excellent goals. The first was given as 'stolen' from Moreno but after looking carefully it is a much better goal than many believe. A lot of the fans were against him from the start because he was in the 'Worst eleven in French football' last season. One of the problems for him last season was that he was contractually compelled to stay with Rijsel but his thoughts were in Liverpool. Fans also forget that he has 16 caps for Belgium (No 1 in the world) . He has now broken his duck and hopefully will progress even further.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2015 11:25:11
He was also playing a lot of games of the wing last season.

Although when ings is fit I think origin will find himself further down pecking order.

I thought allen had a really good game last night.

Agree9 Disagree6

03 Dec 2015 11:48:58
The fans weren't agaisnt him because of anything that happened in France but because he looked quite unimpressive until yesterday. But under Klopp there seem to be not such a thing as an unimpressive player.

Agree2 Disagree9

03 Dec 2015 12:02:23
I didn't see it coming, he looked like he couldn't finish his breakfast and I thought he'd need a lot more time to develop. He looked great last night and seemed very impressive on his interview.
To be fair to Klopp, he knew.

Agree7 Disagree2

03 Dec 2015 12:13:42
LAVERS totally agree with you about allen, Him and can dovetailed really well with Lucas sitting just behind going to be big competition for midfield places in the coming weeks. Btw what an assist from can.

03 Dec 2015 13:58:34
I personally don't think Allen is good enough for our first eleven.

Agree8 Disagree7

03 Dec 2015 14:23:06
I agree with Ron . up until yesterday he had done nothing to impress at all, many fans, including me, were starting to wonder if he would make the grade, for me the jury is still out, no bones about last night but he needs to show consistency now to get the fans chanting his name!

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 14:36:58
Yer I agree, the 2 goals the ball was played in front of him, from what we've seen previous he struggles with anticipating the ball, not a natural finsher, however he's only a young lad, so working day in and day out and watching sturidge will hopefully bring him on.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 16:41:48
His second and third goal where both great finishes. The jury's out with me because he wasn't the creator for either (although he showed great movement to be in the right place) . Compare that to Studge's first where he used his own skill to get past the defender and create the opportunity.

Having said that great night for the lad and hopefully he can kick on from here.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Dec 2015 11:51:33
Origi was class last night. Didn't even realise (to watching match again) he was involved in all 6 goals.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 16:54:03
Allen may not be good enough for our "first eleven" but then we don't really have a first 11 because of the volume and frequency of our games.
Klopp's skill at the minute is being able to turn seemingly poor players into useful squad players - like Allen.

I'm no fan of Allen, I've slated him on numerous occasions, but when he plays well I'll give him credit and his performances are definitely improving. So fair play to him and huge credit to Klopp and his team.

Agree8 Disagree1

03 Dec 2015 18:07:28
Origi before yesterday couldn't 'strike a match' maybe because he was still using Brendan's flint.

Agree0 Disagree2

03 Dec 2015 18:40:37
I was impressed, who wouldn't be? But a memorable part was the peach of a cross from Smith - nailed it.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that was a beauty.}

03 Dec 2015 10:59:29
Does anybody else think that origis performance last night was down to playing with studge? His second goal especially. I think had Sturridge not have taken he's second goal as he did, then origi wouldn't have hit it first time as well. I do honestly think that had it been benteke and origi to start the game, we wouldn't have won so comfortably. Nice to see Klopp playing two uptop. Bring on the toon!

Believable5 Unbelievable6

03 Dec 2015 14:19:54
I think it's a stretch to say that the way Sturridge finished his impacted Origi - what I would say is that, at that stage of the game, Origi was under less pressure enabling to open up more and play more naturally and that always helps. Getting goals when you really need them though, like Sturridge did, is the mark of a top striker. Origi needs to find a way to do that too if he wants to stake a serious claim in the starting XI week in week out.

Agree7 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 14:52:09
And Studge didn`t feed off Suarez? Nonsense! Strikers feed off each other. That is normal. I played the position and my strike partner fed off me. One game he score a hatrick and i scored one. another time He score a goal and I had three assists and won a penalty. That is the advantage of playing two up. If you think Studge did not benefit from playing with Origi who ran the channels a lot more than Studge did to open up spaces, then you are fooling yourselves. Stop trying to diminish the boy`s perf. He scored a hatrick on the road vs a team that NOBODY will drop six on this season. Give him credit and move on. N BTW, I`m not claiming he`s better than studge either. just to clarify.

Agree4 Disagree2

03 Dec 2015 20:47:34

03 Dec 2015 12:54:28
He looks like aspas but also again yesterday it was shown how out of his depth he was. However he played a quite big roll in the first goal with a lovely ball down the line. He's so so far behind where McLaughlin and wisdom and Flanagan are and were even at his age. I thought after the first 20 minutes the decision to play him again would cost us the game fortunately we scored almost every shot we had.

I thought exactly the same Sam,

Thought he would cost us the match as he just looked well out of place. But he grew into the game and got better as it went on. Fair play to him, was not an easy southampton side.

He will take quite a lot from that match I would imagine.

Agree5 Disagree1

03 Dec 2015 13:29:43
I think Sam you are being ridiculously hard on the lad.

He was up against an experienced and skilled player in Tadic and on the whole I thought he did okay. Particularly as they where happy to double up on him whenever there was a man over.

I mean their goal came from his side but it certainly wasn't his fault. Can sold himself and then Moreno got caught dozing again.

I am not gong to say he had a worldy by any means but I don't think he looked out of his depth. That is my opinion anyway.

Agree9 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 14:22:56
Agree with Wassa - your criticism is ridiculous. He was up against one of the best wingers in the league in Tadic and, though he got done a few times, showed excellent positional awareness and, apart from the goal and another cross later in the first half, didn't really do anything catastrophic. His touches were find, distribution was direct and simple (and not wasteful) . I thought he did alright all things considered - to say he looked way out of his depth is a gross over-exaggeration.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 14:29:06

20 years of age. One game won't define his career, Klopp trusted in him. So should we.

Very much pleased with Smith and not so much with Randall.

Agree1 Disagree5

03 Dec 2015 17:03:54
The first game he played he was ripped apart my mark Pugh (i think) although he was against a far better opponent last night he was still ripped apart was far too far off and didn't stop a single cross. He was awful. If we hadn't scored the goals we did theyd have continued to kill him all game and would've no doubt scored from more free crosses.

Agree4 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - you are being extremely unfair. He was nothing like as bad as you make out, he grew into the game as it went on.}

03 Dec 2015 20:56:55
You're probably right about me being unfair tbh he wasn't helped much early on with the system but I do believe if we hadn't scored the goals he'd have crumbled and probably been sent off or subbed.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - but we did score the goals and he didn't crumble, get sent off or get subbed.}

03 Dec 2015 20:54:49
The kid looked very nervous and in the first half seemed to have one passing move (find Skertel) . But he got better as the game went on. Who knows how his career will work out but with time he will show us what his true potential (or not) is. Give him time and a chance.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2015 09:55:53
How ridiculous on this site that we batter our young players. I thought Randall done OK. Sure it was not perfect but do we expect 10/10 performances from a young lad?
Behave yourselves.
Lets nurture these boys and maybe just maybe we will find another Carra/Gerrard/Callaghan/Thompson/Heighway.
Would it not be fantastic to have a team that can challenge for trophies made up of scousers?
Maybe a fantasy, but let me dream.

Great team performance last night! My heart dropped when Lovren was getting booed at the start, I thought he would let it get to him, but credit where it's due he was very good. Hard to believe what players can do when played in their actual positions!

Believable13 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2015 11:20:33
He's a different player with a manager who can actually tactically organise a team to defend 🙌.

Agree8 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 12:59:43
Apart from playing players out of their position (Emre Can, Sterling, Ibe, Markovic) and pandering to certain players and playing them in certain positions (Milner, Sturridge) Brendan's biggest issue was his inability to organise a defence. I can only assume from his interviews and what has been said by certain players who have left since that he had a bit too much ego. I wanted him gone after Stoke away last season but, I do feel for the guy. That being said he may be a great manager in terms of setting up a team to attack, but without the ability to organise a defence he won't last long anywhere.

Agree3 Disagree3

03 Dec 2015 14:08:58
Brendan didn't allow the players to play their own game. It's as simple as that. Too many times under Brendan new players were asked to play in positions that made them look Sh**. Why he did this? Only he knows. Our new manager simplifies things the way Shanks did, He makes the players feel that they are all good enough to play for Liverpool. Last season Brendan Loaned out 2 Right Backs and then played Markovic and Can there. Last night Clyne was given a rest and fair do's to Klopp he played the only other fit right back we have on the books. I remember a game against Southampton at Anfield when Rodgers played 4 Centre Backs Toure Agger Skrtle and Sakho. We lost the game 1.0 to a Lovren goal. Shanks, when he was stopped by police, told them that sitting next to him was young Emlyn Hughes, the future Captain of Liverpool and England, and that was before he'd kicked a ball for the club. Klopp is a lot like Shanks in the way, when they talked they made everyone listen, Brendan made us all cringe with embarrassment.

Agree7 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 15:16:58
Spot on, terry MC. Klopp said himself that he was not a magician nor genius. He is a football manager that loves the game. he said in his firts presser that football is the same ANYWHERE you play it. it is also a simple game. BR was too busyu trying to look like a good coach instead of actually working hard to BE a good coach. His ego will be his own downfall and his anability to simplify the game as well. Klopp makes the game simple and loves his players and as players, they don`t care how much you know until they know how much you care. BR never cared about them. Klopp does and genuinely wants them to succeed here or elsewhere.

Lovren has improved great. But one thing that strikes me, The Central defenders should mark the most important players. Mane for example.
Moreno is short and there is every chance someone could get the better of him in the air.

Not that I'm a BR fan but in fairness, when was Lovren not played in position?

Agree1 Disagree1

03 Dec 2015 18:34:29
Lovrens confidence was shattered, by Rodgers tactics pushing the full backs on and having the 2 at the back split Leaving him Skrtle and an ageing Gerrard to start the play. When that didn't work he went to a back 3.Lovren is now being asked to play in a back 4 and looks more like the player we bought. Klopp said that Lovren was a beast in the friendly against Dortmund at Anfield, that was before Rodgers tried to turn him into something he's not.

One more for the growing list of songs to be sung
To the tune of the Monkees (or Vic Reeves and the Wonder Stuff's . take your pick) - I'm a believer

"I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me.
Teams were going to beat us
That's the way it seemed.
Disappointment haunted all my dreams.

Then we saw his face, now we are believers
Not a trace of doubt in our minds
We're in love, ooooh, We are believers
Jurgen don't leave us, We'd all cry!

Then we saw his fa-ace, now we are believers yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Not a trace of doubt in our minds
We're in love, ooooh, We are believers
We couldn't leave here if we tried".

The Match

Thought that the team played really well last night and all of the team put a shift in. Great teamwork, great understanding. Start wasnt the best but we showed what team is all about. Good to see Sturridge back hope he stays fit. Lovren has impressed me since coming in (some moments of the old lovren but not many) Allen i thought has had two decent back to back games against bordeaux and southampton. Good night for Origi can he keep it up? let's hope so! Moreno has improved vastly but still has his sleepy moments.

The commentators said something interesting last night. This is Brendan Rodgers pick of players, so why did he fail to get them playing the way we have been since Klopp has come in? It is one word Belief.

To be fair, I think has has been doing this for the last 3 or 4 seasons. Doesn't seem to do very much (or so you think), then when he misses a game. you really appreciate what he is all about.
I love him, he is a fantastic footballer and he also loves Liverpool.
I would give him a new contract today. :)

Believable10 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2015 08:33:35
Lallana is still the weak link for me, He works hard so does Milner, Offers nothing in terms of Goals.
Two names to be dropped for Firmino, Coutinho, Henderson.
On another Note, Ibe has scored goals more than Lallana.

Agree3 Disagree13

03 Dec 2015 07:03:47
Well he can say all night long he is just the normal one, sorry Mr Klopp, maybe the paranoraml one. He really makes many of the discussions here a bit meaningless. Getting a hatrick from Origi, making Allen look like a class player, Can looks a world apart from where he was just weeks ago.

Now just a word of warning about Newcastle. Everyoen would expect now us going there and getting 4:0 before half time. It usualy doesn't work like this, It may look much more like our game against Swansea. We will probably have to work very hard from 90 minutes and be careful with our defence as well. But then again with Klopp you never know.

I wonder what Klopp is feeding the players .

Or 8s he just an amazingly outstanding coach and man manager?

A mate of mine says Dortmund actually has/had a worse squad than us but Klopp brought the best out of then. If that's true, how far can we go in a couple years? Food for thought huh?

Anyway, can anybody recall any manager anywhere having such an immediate and impressive effect when taking over a team?

Fergie took 7 years to turn things around.

AW won the title his 1st season but he didn't come in mid season .

Klopp basically came in and took over BR's struggling team and in 2 months transformed everything.

Surreal.

Wonder what BR is thinking of it all .

If I were McClaren, I'd be really concerned about Sunday .

Anyway, 1 game at a time.

We go again. :)

I can tell u klopp and liverpool's success is not gg down well with all current and ex managers. Its really making them look bad. Not since mourinho, has another manager come in and make other managers look so complacent. There is already some kinda phone calls and coffee groups among these managers how to best fix Klopp's team.

Sturridge and henderson back into the team along with flannaghan and Sakho back in top 4 is sealed. Klopps doing a marvellous job. Players have confidence now. If we can win a cup what a season it could be.

03 Dec 2015 10:18:33
i think Flanagan will not be a starter under Klopp, he lacks the pace. Klopp kind of demands very high pace from his FB's since his Mainz days. Flanno will be a back up. Sturridge will not start all games and Sakho will have to work really hard because Lovren is doing nothing wrong at all, actually he is playing really well of late.

Great great game and the younger players did great a big change and nice to see them able to kill a game and not struggle for 30 mins at 2-1. Randall got caught a few time with faking crosses but he must learn lallanas time will come he is improving just hasn't got the goals yet. Nice to see the Belgian power and fitness of origi show and hopefully studge didn't get injured with the hugging of the celebrations 😂. Enjoying the new klopp era.

Its just another step in the ladder for the boy and I hope he goes from strength to strength.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 10:22:15
I feel Conor Randall is being groomed to become the 2nd RB, he is a more natural FB than Wisdom and Flanagan. Joe Gomez is a CB and i think this summer will see Ilori and Wisdom sold, maybe even Flanagan. Hard to see where Flanagan will play when he will have 4 FB's more suited to Klopps way of playing ahead of him in Clyne, Moreno, Randall and Smith. Gomez can also cover all over the back 4.

Without any "tools" Not sure what you mean here but if its that the squad are not the tools in JKs toolbox then spec savers would be a good place for you to begin seeing again. Maybe you're referring to Brendans comment about having the tools to do a job. He did comment about being able to work with quality. I think this may have been when Sturridge returned from injury and scored a couple and Brendan was taking credit for a quality player. I'd have been severely p***ed off if I was another player at the time. Oh, you can get quality players to do their job hey Brendan, I think even I could do that!

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 10:25:42
Not one player was improving under BR. They were all regressing at an alarming rate, take Jordon Ibe and Dejan Lovren as examples, or Moreno or Emre Can. They all look like top top players and under BR they looked awful. That is because BR is awful and it reflects on his players performances. Even Coutinho has scored 4 goals in 3 games for the first time in his Liverpool career. Klopp is taking already class players to another level.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Dec 2015 23:46:22
