Absolutely spot on mate, well said!
Now i don't want to mention it anymore as it will only give the fella too much recognition!
All i will say is LFC is a family and i for one am very proud to be part of it!
I actually started supporting LFC the night The Gooners beat us in the 90th minute to win the league back in 1989 so i'm not quite the glory hunter as was mentioned.
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

Just wondering, did i miss it but doesn't Liverpool usually thank and wish good luck to players that have recently left. Not seen anything mentioned about Torres!

Can we read anything into this?

Yes. He's a p***k. And thank him for what? Not putting the effort in? Acting like a spoilt child? Or letting us all believe he was red through and through but really didn't give a s**t? I'd take Babel back over him any day. I'm sick of reading/ hearing about him.

Cmon guys let stop dealing with the fallout and pratt poster, first goalsorer on Sunday?

I'd like to see either:

Lucas
Johnson
or Dirk pop in the first.

Actually, Dirk first and last, Luis can have the middle couple. . lol,

He didn't give us 100% actually, so maybe you should have done your homework first - now i'm not going to get into a discussion with you cause you're quite honestly not worth it. But get your cocky attitude right little man & your facts.
And next time you're being such a big mouth - try signing off with your name.
You're lot will never have what we have here - history, tradition, family club & genuine supporters.
You've no idea what it feels like to be a part of a club like this!
None whatsoever.
Now go back to JT & your other friends before he gropes up your mrs & mamma (at the same time).

Just in reply to this particular poster,
Yes i'm Irish, my parents are born & bread Scousers, as are my brother & sister. Personally i couldn't give a $h*t where you / i come from, what your skin colour is, if you're male or female, whether you're 2 years old or 92 years old. If you genuinely love LFC then none of that matters - hence the family atmosphere around the club i mentioned in my post, you wouldn't know anything about that thing probably because maybe you were abandoned as a child & don't understand what family means? If so i'm sorry for you. You could be a part of the LFC's family if you want to but with your nasty outlook i don't think we want you. Why didn't you sign off with your name at the end either? I respect your opinion but this is the one & only post i can honestly say i disagree 100% with.
I've always been made feel more than welcome at Anfield / in Liverpool anytime i've been - you're just a 1 out of a million loser trying to cause friction.
It's people like you LFC could do without.
Thanks to all who spoke out earlier against this sad act. Take no notice of him guys & gals! I won't be responding to such $h*te again after this but felt the need to tell all you normal, nice people on here whether you're English, Irish or any other nationality who might be upset / ashamed of his post to take NO notice! It was slightly racist / biggoted but i couldn't give a to$$! So neither should you - I'll never let one fool ruin my love for Liverpool FC. I know this is a banter site but to be honest i'm disappointed with the editor(s) for letting it through in the first place. I don't mind extreme opinions but the above post is not banter!
Hence the response from others in reply.
Please editors don't leave that kind of stuff through again - you've stopped stupid & controversial posts before so why not for something like that when it can be a sore point with some people.
It's nothing to do with football.
Please post this ed as i'd like the people who defended real LFC fans like me to see i'm greatful for their back up.
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

{editor: Sorry for letting it through, he posted more but it did not get through as it was getting worse.}

Cheers for the reply ed.
Don't apologise mate, $hit happens!
I think by the reaction it brought about, it just shows LFC is a family who back up their own.
Wouldn't be surprised if the boy was actually from a different club just trying to cause mischief!
Sad really!
But as the saying goes "There's always one".
Thanks for posting ed.
I'm sorry it was so long (again) but felt it needed proper addressing as seen as it was aimed at me directly.
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

In response to the Manure fan,

Chris Bower (Liverpool fan) says. .

You might be in the right colours but you're clearly some way down the M62, just off the Manc way, pull off the shorts and wipe your a** because you're totally full of shi*e and need to be relieved.

Pull yourself together and move on; just like the rest of us. .

LFC are more of a prospect now than we have been since BEFORE Fernando Toxsess arrived:

A manager with a brain and more importantly 'the Liverpool heart'

A potentially spine tingling forward line, with the finance to back an already strong spine in the critical positions

A more tactically and strategically aware management structure than before;

A global support lager in number than many earth spanning religions.

Oh,

A game on Sunday where regardless of the outcome there will be more passion in the dressing room, on the field and in the hearts and minds of the true LFC family than we have seen and felt in a long, long time. .

Back it all, or back it off. . !

In ref to Chris Bower. . Im deeply disillusioned by Torres departure, our loss and CFC's gain I see him effectively helping them to 'buy' the CL . . Torres leaving has another story I believe the bottom of which we will perhaps never know. . . He was/ still is as a decent homley lad and a loss to us. . He left because we simply could not afford to fulfill the promises made to him that we would find investors and attract better players. He joined post Istanbul and FA Cup Final win and sadly never won a single medal with us! We were then with an early Benitez in charge on the way up no doubt, the PL 3 seasons ago Utd did NOT win we LOST it FACT! It marked the start of a crazy downward spiral! Rafa had a naive foolish dig @ Fergie which lead to a terrible run of results in Jan/ Feb, Publicly said he wants to sell Alonso and replace him with Gareth Barry who we never got and lost XA. . In the meantime to this day Rick Parry has never said WHY when DIC (Billionaires) were on the verge of buying us out he fixed up two muppet texans (credit millionaires) to effectively kill us in the transfer market for the next few years. . to our north Man City were being courted by Billionaires and CFC billionaires who we had the better of in many contests were likewise bankrolling their way to PL glory! That is where it all went wrong. . Had we been able to invest no disrepect to Roy Hodgson he would have never have left Fulham for us as its possible Rafa would have stayed on or been replaced by another Euro tactician with funds to dabble with. . .Torres joined us dreaming of winning medals and had we been in the CL and were competing rather then falling behind I do believe he would have stayed and very upsetingly he will mark my word I hate to say it win medals with CFC. Another point had we appointed KK in the summer 1) we would be higher then 7th 2) Still in one of the domestic cup competitions 3) Torres would have stayed till atleast summer to make his mind up . . Instead he's gone from our 1 (ex SG of course) superstar hope to most hated. . .Lets not forget all his super goals but remember not 1 was in any final or end of season top of the table clash bar that incredible 4-1 win @ OT without doubt the highlight a clue of what could have been. . . on a positive Suarez and Caroll WILL forge an excellent partnership but most will in their hearts agree that Torres was a 1 in a generation striker

After this I'm not going to mention Torres anymore but he deserves all the slagging off that he gets.

That prick picked up over £100,000 a week and didn't even try, taking money out of the pockets of people who could least afford it. In our loyalty we made excuses for him but he threw it back in our faces by not even giving 20%.

It's no excuse to say he wasn't playing for the Manager as, if you don't play for the Manager, you're not playing for the shirt or the supporters either. He even takes the pleasure away from his goals in the Chelsae game this season, as we now know we only got to enjoy them because he was playing for a move away.

Any news on a Suarez or Carroll chant. I'll be at the Chelsea game on Sunday and plan on 90 minutes of non stop singing to show what our fans are all about. Buzzing for the game like no other.

03 Feb 2011 22:52:57

Why is everyone still going on about Torres, He has shown his true colours, and it is history now, it is time we built a bridge and get over it, we need to concentrate on the current team and get behind them, and look to the future, and once Carroll is fit, we could have one of the best strike forces in the country

03 Feb 2011 22:50:32
Hey eds thanks for mobile version of this site, very cool.

People please stop going on about our ex-number 9. We had some good years out of him now we're better off without him. Kenny changing the type of player at LFC and I imagine he's very happy with Carroll and the way things have turned out.
Look out for more north European toughness to be added to the side along with some creativity.

To all lfc fans, just to prove to all of you that our dissappointment in torres is correct , most if not all pundits that come on ssn except for phil thompson are not huge fans of liverpool and do not usually support us in their comments but I have not found one of them that does not sympathise with us and they all think torres's move was cheap, and indecent. Even Mark Lawrence wrote an article about how bad torres's move was towards himself and lfc, just to put this issue to bed.So masch and torres can't be right and everybody else are wrong! what do you think ed?

hibsylfc {ed's note - I don't really care to be honest. He is gone, bye, thanks an all that, but you didn't deserve the shirt anyway and that's all that matters.}

03 Feb 2011 22:46:08

D Comoli, you have till the end of August to find and get us quality players do your job proper and don't wait till the last hour in the summer transfer window so the other clubs can hold us ransom.

03 Feb 2011 22:41:53

Heres one for you all.
Although all the new songs for Carroll are spot on, he's not Torres and he deserves his own song.
We are famed for our songs and we copy no-one and everyone copies us, so lets not copy ourselves and give the new lad his own tune. . .

You want to have a word with yourself mate, my grandad (an irishman and big Liverpool fan) left Liverpool and settled in the midlands after the war and started his family in the potteries. He took me to my first Liverpool game in 1978, when I was a 7 year old kid. Ive been a lifelong Liverpool fan ever since (now 41). I've never been able to sing YNWA at the start of the game as I can easily well up and your telling me just because you had the good fortune of being born in Liverpool that you have more of an affiliation with the club. A bit of an insula outlook sunshine, leave that sort of thing to the likes of Millwall/ Cardiff etc.

Just flicking here thru photos of torres first arriving to liverpool when we didn't know what to expect from him really, he took us by storm, connected with the fans, was a symbol for liverpool, almost like a scouser, i don't think we'll ever replace him, there'll never be another player like him, even if he didn't ever pick up the same form he showed in his first 2 season again, i still wudnt have wanted to see him go :( {ed's note - am I the only one bored to tears of all the talk about Torres? Hmmmmm would you rather had the manc scum winning the title and us grabbing 4th spot off chavski or citeh or have one of them including arsenal winning the league and us not getting 4th.

Good question, for me i'd rather we got 4th as my love for Liverpool far outways my hatred for the Mancs, and we will overtake them again anyway soon with KK and NESV

Chris Bower (Liverpool fan) says. .
This will annoy many LFC fans but Masch has a point. As an ardent LFC fan who was gutted to see him leave, I am annoyed about the subsequent vilification of Torres and this is why:- Torres wanted to leave last summer having not qualified for the CL and with Rafa on his way out, the club up for sale and some of our best players sold in recent years (Alonso, Arbeloa, Masch, his mate Benayoun) can any of us hand on heart blame the lad for feeling disillusioned and wanting out of a mid-table selling club in crisis? - LFC didn't want to sell him last summer because they knew it would devalue a club about to be sold. So Torres was fed more lies by Purslow about investment in the club, new players etc & loyally agreed to stay (when it would have been easier to go) only to see average players like Jovanovic, Poulsen and Konchesky arrive under a manager in RH that was out of his depth and with the club languising in the bottom half. - I hear on very good authority that Torres didn't want to leave his departure until the end of the transfer window but LFC stopped it going public sooner and hushed everyone up because they thought it would push the price of Suarez up (ie LFC have known about Torres departure for weeks now). What riles me is that the Club have come out of it smelling of roses with the fans with talk of big investment, statements of intent etc etc. Fact remains theyve invested a net £0 and simply cashed in on a player they themselves disillusioned over several years. Am I the only person to question why the owners were reluctant to spend anything when the Torres pot had run dry (ie no Adam, no much needed winger or defender) so where is the evidence that Torres has made the wrong decision? So in summary, its been a political & PR masterclass by LFC with Torres the villan in the fan's eyes. I love KK but I'm not happy by the club's portrayal of Torres. He isn't to the blame for this sorry saga - the Club is.

im sorry mate buts its so called liverpool fans like yourself that wind me up! just spent 58m in JANUARY, swapped a sulking half hearted cudnt be arsed striker, for the next england number 9 for maybe 8-10 years, and luis suarez, { who looked quality when he came on last night} and its cost 2m and your moaning? what is your problem? why is it you can't be happy, that we have got 50m for someone that doesn't want to be at the club, and only performed in small bursts in the last two years? the owners have spent next to nothing and the money they have set aside can now be spent in the summer without having to sell first. are we not stronger now than we were 2 momths ago? torres and ngog or carroll and suarez? i know which i prefer.

matt 27

03 Feb 2011 22:24:31
I have to say after watching that brat Torres amble around the pitch disinterested all season, it was a breath of fresh air to see a centre forward in Suarez who ran the channels and made space for himself last night. It actually looked as though something could happen when we got in Stokes half. I never saw this one coming but whether it was Dalglish or Dalglish and Commolli combined, what a move for such a pairing, as Carroll and Suarez will terrorise the most resiliant of defences. We are back in the mix. I've been a bit critical of the owners, probably in part due to sceptisiscm from how our clubs been managed in recent years but if this is a signal of intent then they're gradually winning me round.

03 Feb 2011 22:21:48

Who cares what Mascherano says? Whats he done i'n Barcelona? We have two fantastic players who want to be with us! We have a lot to look forward to - I love King Kenny, instead of cringing at press conferences, I can't wait to hear what he says! Young, Adam, Turan and Shawcross please. Ed, can we get these players?

{editor: I can't see why not. Young and Turan would be good.}

03 Feb 2011 22:14:33

Torres is gone . .get over it!

we have 2 fantastic replacements . . and do not write us off for sunday either . . i remember a game not so long ago at old trafford . . everyone said we had no chance . . what was the score?? ?? ? oh yeah 1-4 . . .cmon the reds suarez suarez suarez . .

03 Feb 2011 22:11:38

Can't understand why people are surprised and shocked about Torres. He is a mercenary and I will always respect him for what he did at Anfield. But in the end NESV showed they put there money where there mouth is. I couldn't care less about Torres and Masch right now but I can't wait for Carroll to play for us. Players will come and go but I've been a Liverpool fan for 35 years and we will not change! !

03 Feb 2011 22:10:08
Hmmmmm would you rather had the manc scum winning the title and us grabbing 4th spot off chavski or citeh or have one of them including arsenal winning the league and us not getting 4th.

Owing to kenny s new formation here s my ideal lineup to face chelsea

Anyone who believes that Chelsea are a bigger club than Liverpool is living in a dreamland. Mascherano, Torres. . these guys know exactly what they are doing when they say these things. They are using propoganda, through the media, to back their own cause. Torres says there is no higher level than Chelsea, well forget Real Madrid and Barcelona for a second, what about United? A more famous club who have probably won more in the last 15 years than Chelsea have in their entire history and with a stadium twice the size of Stamford Bridge. By the time both these players retire, Chelsea, still will not have won as much as United or Liverpool and without Abramovich (who won't bankroll them forever) Chelsea are an insignificant club, just one or two notches up from Fulham.

Just whipped this off the Mascherano part on the Sky sports website, This is a Man Utd fans take on it, I thought for a united fan he responded very good, A football fan and prob the only one with sense ;)

Seriously knock it on the head now, are we going to talk about torres all season, he's gone, babels gone are we going to talk about him? He's just another cog in the red machine. Were moving on, we've got players with desire in now so we should show the same and stop looking at the past.

03 Feb 2011 21:33:16
On Sunday I want to look at teletext and see the words: 'Torres sent off 65min'.

Or read the papers monday morning and read "Torres out for rest of the season"

Chris Bower. That's an interesting point of view. Total hogwash I'n my opinion but it'll certainly ruffle a few feathers. Torres screwed us. End of. Having calmed down a bit I'm just moving on. He's the past and there's a promising future to look forward to

03 Feb 2011 21:11:07
This is an article about that moody Argentine midfielder that went on strike before we played Man City. The one we rescued from rotting at West Ham.

Former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has blasted the club for the way they have handled the exit of Fernando Torres to Chelsea.

And the Argentina captain likened it to his own move, when he left the club last summer for Barcelona under a cloud of controversy.

Torres has been criticised for comments made following his departure to Liverpool's Premier League rivals, suggesting that he had moved to the "top level" by joining Chelsea.

Mascherano is quoted by espn.co.uk as saying at a press conference: "I was not surprised about what happened with Fernando.

"When I left Liverpool, it looked as if I had killed someone.

"It is sad that the press and the club try to convince people that it is all the player's fault when the reality is that Liverpool didn't show the interest in keeping us in the club.

"I spoke with Fernando and I said to him that he doesn't have to be worried because he did his best for the club."

To the guy who wrote this. . . Irish kev. ha ha ok I agree with you mate about you being apart ov the club but let's make one thing clear your not a scouser an really don't no what it's like glory hunter springs to mine you'll never know what it's like to be a scouser an support our beloved club FACT. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I wrote the following not to cause havoc but was just pointing out facts I see I got alot of reply's to my post again all the responses I did get were again not from SCOUSERS I don't care if ye Irish or ye from London an support I club I was just pointing out that you will never feel the affection towards the club like me it's FACT an you no it's true an you no it is this is my club an every other scouser were not arsed about outside support the club are revenue an shirt sales Liverpool is Liverpool not Irish Liverpool not londonpool not Welshpool not stokepool not anywhere pool but LIVERPOOL AND SITS JUST RIGHT IN ANFIELD FACT

What a complete moron you are mate, Other fans that are not scouser's love the club just as much as you, Question for ya do you love the club more than King Kenny?Jan Molby?Dont' think they are born scouser's, All Liverpool fans around the world would love to be scouser's and for saying glory hunters, I have been supporting Liverpool FC for about 29 years and have seen my fair share of barren years and never once taught of supporting anyone else, come to an Liverpool v United( or anyone else) match in my local and you'll see affection and passion for Liverpool.Stop saying Fact also, ya sound like a gee bag as did Rafa when he said FACT.Hope I don't offend any scousers's born and bred or adopted, but this feckwit annoyed me.

Torres' first touch was always poor. Saurez's first touch yesterdat was briliant

i think you shud put dwn the crack pipe lad, we get it, torres did the dirty on us but lets not start slaggin his ability off i can remember some sublime touch's of the ball hes done, but anyway hes old news

03 Feb 2011 21:08:16
Does anyone else think we are in danger of becoming obsessed re the Torres saga, and dare I say a little bitter. Let's move on, he showed his love for the club was not what he proclaimed and money was more important, he's moved on and so should we. Good luck Torres, break a leg!

03 Feb 2011 21:05:21

I was born in Leicester, supported Liverpool since I was 7, fav player was Brian hall and keegan. I am not a scouser but that does not mean I support the club any less than someone who is one. C'mon, let's stick together we did when we played s**t football under souness, huollier , rafa and woy, nows the time to ramp it up and show the prem how to support a proper club

Ed thanks for that hopefully that will help me understand what will happen in summer transfer window!Was told we did do everything to get adam from blackpool, the problem was'nt lpool but on blackpool's side & lpool did'nt want messed around because decision's were'nt being made by the player's agent or blackpool.Don't know what info you have or if you could back me up? {ed's note - it was Blackpool's chairman Karl Oyston that stopped the deal going through. He was upset with Adam's agent and his actions.}

what do you reckon ed? {ed's note - do you not think players will be bought to suit more than one system? So we can field pretty much the same team but in different ways?}

03 Feb 2011 20:45:06

Hi Ed please put this on. . . Not sure if anyone on here can help but I think we need to make sure that Liverpool stay in the hunt or remains favourite for Charlie Adams so we need to get emails sent or messages to Liverpool football club to ensure that we sign him. Although people may think that he is just another midfielder they are wrong. He will add the Xavi Alonso factor back into the team with the same ability as Gerrard. Ours strikers will flourish with him in the team not to mention that MANURE will not sign him as I am led to beleive that they want him {ed's note - why don't we just leave it to the King to sort it out instead? I am sure he knows best.}

03 Feb 2011 20:42:56

Don't know about anyone else but these rumours Of Jose mourinho coming to anfield are disturbing.the special one is the complete wrong fit for Liverpool andn I'll explain why.Jose cares about no club only personal success while he is clearly one of the most gifted managers in Europe he shows no loyalty to any club and will move as soon as he has won the trophy that he wanted( After always inheriting a great squad)he is not a club man and should never be considered for the liverpool job. We are not Chelsea or real madrid we are the the biggest club in Europe we have pride and history ( earnt not bought) Madrid are almost the national team of ( by that I mean that they are royal Madrid and backed by the king of Spain also Franco) and won the European cu five times on th trot in the fifties. Chelski ere chelski no explanation needed.we have lost 96 and we survive we have been banned from Europe for five years and we survive mourinho doesn't know or care we are Liverpool and have the greatest manager their is f*** Torres f*** egos love Liverpool always.

You are very childish and if honest, deluded to think that LFC as a club don't need non scouse fans. I have many scouse friends who do and don't go to the match, does this mean that these fans don't love the club as much? I am a scouser, born n raised in Lpool but gladly accept the need and want of fans from other than Lpool. The best will always attract the best. so whether ur martian, indian, irish, chinese, scouse, english doesn't matter. Irish Kev is as true a supporter as ive heard, just because hes not scouse doesn't mean his views or love for the club shouldnt be as much as a scouser. Once a red always a Red! !

- I'm a manc and yet i've been a lpool fan from the day i knew what football was. whoever wrote this is a fool, being a liverpool fan isn't about geographical location and if it was then i'd have ended up a cocky arrogant scum fan! !, how do you expect our club to grow. and sell shirts. and buy all these lavish players we talk of if our fan base is set to one half of a city down the m62?

This would be my team for Sunday:

Reina

Kelly Carragher Agger Aurellio

Johnson Gerrard Miereles Maxi

Kuyt Suarez

Subs: Jones, Cole, Pacheco, Skrtel, Wilson, Shelvey, Suso

I couldn't agree more this would be my team exactly. In my opinion it's obviously the best team we can field. The problem for me will come when Carroll is fit because I'm afraid I have never rated him. However, I trust King Kenny implicitly so I will be happy to be proved wrong

03 Feb 2011 20:34:15

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Spanish or Spanish speakers = Suarez; Maxi; Pacheco; Suso; Ayala plus several coaches. . . but it's probably a pointless discussion anyway! Does Kuyt want to leave because he's the only Dutchman left, now that Babel and Brouwer have gone? What about Kyrgiakos being the only Greek, or Skrtel the only Slovakian? I really don't see it being much different for a Spaniard and particularly one so comfortable using the English language. They are all grown up professional footballers and whilst fellow countrymen can always assist in attracting a player to a new club and help them to settle in, it is rarely a reason for them wanting to leave! If Reina does want out it, his motives will be very different.
Maybe one day he will be grateful Liverpool rescued him from his West Ham hell.
Hi Ed, or any other readers, I am a regular poster on here for the last year and reader double that. I was just wondering why there is so much hate for kids on here? I myself am 16 years of age and don't feel we all deserve that; there are a lot of farcical adults out there too.
EyeSak
{Editor's Note: I hope there isn't any hate of kids on these boards - I certainly would not let anything through that I thought was such an issue.}
Guys i don't think there is an actual hatred of kids on the site, when replying nobody knows the age of the person there replying to. People use it to point out some posters maturity levels rather then an attack on there age. I myself have been called a kid on a couple of occasions and im 26 years old. Pity i don't still get asked for id though when going out LOL.
Personally i couldnt care how old someone is cause i don't know and can only assume. Were all here for the same reasons because we like rumours and enjoy others opinions regardless of age.
Let's face it, if Whisky Nose or 'Arry 'cor blimey, triffic' Redknapp had spent £35m on Andy Carroll there wouldn't be any debate. Certainly not in the vast majority of the London and Manc centric press! They would be hailed as visionary geniuses for having the foresight to sign a future world star before the rest of us mere mortals had realised how special this boy is going to be!
Maybe we can start a guessing game as to who this unknown player is. its definetly not cara of stevie since they are mentioned and the person speaks of torres's first year. so it has to be some one in the club then and now. lucas? agger perhaps? kuyt? any guesses people
. . . . . Jay Spearing!
What Torres could not do, Suarez did! ! A goal on his debut! ha ha H! !
03 Feb 2011 19:41:53
Something to think about in regards to the Andy Carroll fee; based on the fact that Torres clearly wanted out and the fact he hasnt played anywhere near his best form, what if we'd sold him for £30m and then signed Carroll for £15m.
Seems much more reasonable doesn't it? Well it's still the same £15m difference!
The two most important signings in the Summer - Dalglish and Steve Clarke
03 Feb 2011 19:36:51
Ed i'd be interested in your thoughts.
It has been so much better watching Liverpool since the return of the King and the player look as if they want to be part of it.
Do you think Torres handing in a transfer request is a blessing in disguise.
It would have been impossible for the new owners to sell him without an uproar.
He obviously wasn't making an effort.
Team morale will be better.
Missed a lot of football and spent a lot of time playing whilst trying to regain full fitness.
We now have to great additions to our forward line.
It will be more difficult for teams to stop Suarez/ Carroll than just Torres.
We haven't really spent any money and have strengthened.
We will still have the transfer funds from the owners to spend in the summer.
Long live the King!
{Editor's Note: If any player is not happy he has to go - it really is as simple as that. The fee was exceptional, although I will take some convincing about the "over £35M" spent on Carroll.}
03 Feb 2011 19:34:49
Torres left. Did well when he was here but didn't do much this season. Let's just get over it and stop with all the rubbish posts. Not really that bothered now - focus on the future.
"I'll admit i'm not the biggest fan of lucas but some of his passes last night were unbelievable i think he is and will be a great cm for many a year to come"
- - - - - - -
Like him or not, Lucas is a class act. He was Footballer of the Year in Brazil as an attacking midfielder, but Rafa played him as a defensive midfielder. Instead of pouting, hanging his head, or causing problems in the dressing room, he just got on with it.
After the antics of the girly boy mercenary, I think people should give Lucas his dues. Fair play to him!
03 Feb 2011 19:23:00
ED
Who posted this below? Has he gone stark raving mad.Thats like replacing half the squad and usually foreign stars usually take 6 months to settle in.
There wil be possibly 3, 4 max players recruited in the summer and they will be gradually intergrated into the team RW, LW, LB.CB.
03 Feb 2011 13:31:16
My thoughts on a summer clear-out, I've listed who I'll think will go and in rough order of the need to get them out:-
Konchesky - 2m
J Cole - 4m
Jovanovic - 3m
Poulsen - 3m
Aquilani - 12m
Darby - 1m
Irwin - 1m
Bruna - 500k
Degen - 1m
El Zhar - 1m
Insua - 2.5m
Mendy - 250k
Saric - 500k
Johnson - 10m
Agger - 8m
Skrtel - 8m
This would give us roughly £52m to invest in new players, and reduce the wage bill massivley.
I reckon we need a CH, LB, CM and a Left forward, as well as cover at RB. If we can get these postions filled with genuine class players, then we will be challenging for the title next year.
My preference for each need is Subotic, Gibbs, Banga/ Lass Diarra, Turan and Onouha
Kenny is so flipping smart?! I love the fact that we don't have a formation! He changes it for every aide we play and it's worked with our current first 11 we don't have enough quality to play a strict 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 likke so Lenny rotates it to enhance our strengths!
Amazing start king!
So happy to be talking about Europe again.
Re what player commented on torres he spoke of gerrard and cara as other players and said when torres came so I take it hes been there for a while, since Torres came anyway and not Gerrard or Carra my guess would be Kuyt.
Ed do you think we will be attempting to sign Davide Santon or Simon Kjaer in the summer?
These two along with Defour of Liege and Banega of Valencia would all fit the NESV profile as all still around 22-23. Would be excellent signings for the club and give us some strength in depth as well.
Two wingers coming as well ( Turan in last year of contract so will be fairly cheap to sign ) Marvueax on a free makes two and hopefully a bigger name as a third ( Hazard or Sanchez marquee signing ).
We would have some strength in depth with these and a striker on top would suit me just fine
What do you think? All would be class purchases in my opinion
{Editor's Note: Santon - very doubtful; Kjaer - possibly; Defour - doubtful; Banega - a good chance; Turan - probably but so will many clubs; Marveaux - is already available on a pre-contract but has an injury problem; Hazard - it'll be Arsenal or Italy for him; Sanchez - no chance I am afraid. Much will depend on European qualification.}
Ed, when Kenny really gets to stamp his authority on his team, do you think he will play a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-1-1?
{Editor's Note: He will need to be flexible - and so will the players.}
03 Feb 2011 18:56:27
Ed do you think there's any chance we will recruit Ever Banega and Steven Defour in the summer or one of them?
I think combined you would be looking at 20-22 million. Both are brilliant centre mids and still very young. I know we need wingers first but I'm taking that for granted that we get some as well as hopefully these two.
I think we would utilise them as Gerrard is getting old which leaves Meirelles and Lucas plus if we injuries or suspensions in the middle we would be short.
{Editor's Note: Banega there is a good chance if the club go after him; Defour less likely, but just maybe a chance.}
Marcherano today stated that he understood torres leaving us.
i am sorry that he left but that's what he wanted so we should all except it.
but we saved marcherano when we bought him from west ham, and he himself has destriod it when he left for barca, he on the the bench all season.
i think he regrets leaving us.
anyway i am so happy that we have KK, AND THE FUTURE LOOK BRIGHT.
Apparently Rafa Benitez is on Football Focus this saturday lunchtime. Should be interesting and I hope he gives Kenny his 100% support as Liverpool manager. I hope he doesn't go over old ground digging up old stories. You gave us many good moments but its time to move on Rafa. Enjoy your £6m payoff from Liverpool and the one you got from Inter.
This talk about Torres discussing terms in the summer with Yosi.To be honest, I don't care if Torres went and spent a week on Abramovich's boat and knelt at his feet to pledge alligence to the Dark side. .
I was genuinely gutted on Monday! My Misses even felt sorry for me and me lads .. Torres is a class footballer but it would appear he is not a class act. . he's gone. . good riddance. . and if he scores on Sunday, we played a football match against Chelsea and one of their forwards scored. So what? At the end of this storm the Golden sky is players who want to put on the shirt and be one together on the pitch and play their hearts out each week. I'd rather that than Champion's league football and championships, that's called being honourable and having pride and if Gerrard and Carra simply pointed that out to Mr Torres, so they should! That's where you start before you win anything. . Torres is not one of us and has chosen not to be a Liverpool legend when he clearly could have been. FACT!
p.s. I do want Liverpool to win things and I think we will!
He will never be loved by them like he was loved by us. Torres will soon realise this and when he is on LFCTV looking back at his Liverpool career in 20 years time he will say so to.
I agree with the writer who states the importance of Steve Clarke. I truly think that Sammy Lee will be let go and one of the following will be brought in because of Kenny's relationship with them:
1. John Barnes
2. Phil Thompson
3. John Aldridge
Also, I heard that Fabio Coentrao loves Liverpool. This is a good thing because of his skill on the Left Side. He could be very much like Bale Playing a LWB or LW.
I know that we are going through a revelation with the return of the King as well as a revolution, but I want us all to remember the importance of our youth system in particular of these players: Pacheco, Suso, Sterling, Robinson, Ngoo, Silva, Wisdom, Flanagan and Coady and may be even Ince (if he decides to renew). I truly think that we should be sending out players on loan to gain first team experience in front of big crowds to assess the growth and vulnerability of these youngsters! In 1 or 2 years time we may have 3-4 of these players capable of playing in the Prem at a high level and could save us millions! Do we need to go out there and buy a 20 million winger?? Or have you all seen Sterling, Ince or Silva work wonders on the wing. .and with Confidence at that! What about going out there to find a 3rd or 4th Striker?? Ngoo is 6 feet plus and has wonderful feet as well as the quick Pacheco! Or what about another CB when we have a robust youngster with fine talent as Andre Wisdom and a player that has shades of the great Alan Hansen in Danny Wilson! What about a future replacement for Stevie (this one worries me the most), however I truly think that Suso will be a future wiz at this position!. .
Let's try to groom our future as Barca does and look what it has produced them! The great thing is that we have the man who produced Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas and Co. Our future looks bright, now we must use them!
On another note! I've admired Tevez since his playing days with Boca and he's truly one of the greatest striker/ personalities on the planet (except for his lack of dedication), however, we have a player in the same mold. .Luis Suarez! Everytime he's on the pitch he brings that "X" Factor that we've been lacking! If we only had a player like him when we finished 2nd, we wouldn't have!
At this point, Kenny's wit, drive/ determination and love for all of the LFC Nation has us all feeling a whole lot less depressed! Long live the King!
SIM THE RED!
(P.S. Ed, whats your take on the absense of Joe Cole-can help us on that left side and Pacheco?)
{Editor's Note: I understand that Cole is not fully fit. Pacheco will get a run out now and again but I doubt we will see him starting regularly. He may well have a tough decision to take in the summer, or perhaps go on loan.}
03 Feb 2011 18:31:21
"I would love Hazard but let's get a reality check. Arsenal, Chelsea, Manure and Real will be leading the chase for this supreme talent. Try for him by all means but more realistic targets would be Turan and Honda. Would also like to see us go for Pjanic, who is quality and Lovren who is a brilliant centre half"
"eden hazard"
Yeah your right chelsea arsenal manks and real might be interested but he has quoted as saying he wants to play everyweek and it will be difficult to go somewhere like real where he is competing with kaka ozil di maria ronaldo etc , so i don't think he will go to real , man u i think are more interested in alexis sanchez and oxlade chamberlain and ashley young , personally don't think they will move for him either , arsenal have far too many attacking midfielders like ive said before , and knowing wenger he won't spend £20+m on a player. chelsea again he will have too much competition , at liverpool he will start every week on the right wing guranteed were crying out for width and he would fit the bill perfectly.
To all those that keep saying aquilani is to weak and slim. .
Doesnt matter about your size if your gifted enough, modric is like a pre pubescent school boy but has done well in a good system. He looked rubbish under rafa because he only got to play 2 mins at end of matches. Lets give him a shot I say. Hes technically gifted.
Accrington Kopite
{Editor Note: It's not that he's weak or whatever, its the fact that he moaned about it and complained that training was too intense. Atleast the likes of Modric work hard and get on with it. Aquilani is a sissy and isn't cut out for this league.}
03 Feb 2011 17:54:59
Lets just wait and see where we finish in the league this year before we start thinking about what players to try and buy. If we were able to finish 4th that would make a huge difference to the calibre of player we could attract. Champions league is what all the top players want. Gazza
{Editor Note: We were still able to attract some top players this window without CL football. If playing in the CL is everything to a football player then I don't want him at our club.}
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
We also have Kenny Dalglish, if you go on the SSN site there's an article by Suarez saying it was Dalglish's presence at Liverpool that convinced him to join the Reds, what footballer would pass the opportunitie to work with KK, also Man City signed many big players without Champions league football.
The bench-warmer of Barca has chipped his two-pence worth in! Of course it's our fault that the players leave, it's the clubs fault the players leave. Not the greedy little b******s fault though oh no!
I'm not from Liverpool, but I live very close in Warrington, Cheshire. Being from a town that is pretty pretty much a divide between Liverpool and Manchester, there are plenty Liverpool, Man Utd, Everton, City fans floating about.
I have been hearing from all the Man U and Everton fans that we got our pants pulled down on the Carrol situation and that he is overrated. First of all I have to say one name. . Rooney. Secondly to the Bluenoses. . Behave yourselves. You know what, maybe we did pay a bit over the odds for him, but bearing in mind that the lad's potential is so massive at 22, and that he scares the s*** out of defenders, has proved himself (up to now) in the top flight and been called up for England tells me that this kid aint that much of a gamble when you think about it.
As for Suarez, I'll keep it short and sweet. 111 goals in 135 games. Shown his quality on the world stage. Scores on his debut and he's still only 24.
The main thing that I am loving is the apparent return to a dignified Liverpool ways with regards to in house dealings. Have to love Dalglish. I find myself cheering at the screen when I watch his interviews like we've just scored. All things are looking brighter for us without a doubt. Not saying we will win the League next season or anything but I'm defo we'll be back in the Champions League with a few new additions. If some summer transfer targets I read in this site are for real then I'm sure we'll be laughing. Yan M'villa would be a good addition as well as some width (take your pick) and left back.
Just hope that we get a result against that lot on Sunday and kick on until the end of the season.
I love it when our enemies say things like this, it shows their pain and jealousy, they said NOTHING when we bought Konc and Poulsen but are now on every forum and LFC site crying like kids, it goes to show we going in the right direction and they are getting scared, so please keep it coming your pain is sweet music to our ears!
I'm not really sure about Hazard. I would think that he'll end up at Arsenal in the Summer - the rumours were that both are keen on the move, but Hazard wanted to finish the season at Lille.
I think it really all depends on what formation Kenny will choose to play. I'm enjoying the 4-3-3 of the moment and I could imagine Suarez playing to the left once Carroll is fit.
If Kenny chooses to keep this formation, I'd love to see Adam joining Gerrard and Mereiles in the 3-man midfield (with Lucas as backup) and then looking for a couple to join for the wings. Hazard would be perfect there - supplying crosses and using trickery.
My top choice would be Ashley Young or Adam Johnson, though. We'll obviously have to wait and see with Young, but I'm not sure that Johnson will be available for us (which is a shame).
I'd also love to see Kenny follow up on the interest in Richards, as I've always rated him.
As for LB - that's a tricky one. There were more rumours about us chasing Coentrao, but the fee is about 26M, I believe (buy-out clause). I also think there'll be lots of competition for his signature. It's hard to see who Kenny has in mind for this position - I expected us to put a bid in for someone, but nothing came to light.
Anyway, I definitely think we can challenge next season with the right players brought in. I also think that a result against Chelsea on Sunday could springboard a good run for us, that could see us in the European spots.
Fernando Torres has allegedly said to training staff at Chelsea today that he was "very impressed" by Luis Suarez's debut performance for Liverpool last night. (My mate works with someone who's uncle is on the Chelsea staff - APPARENTLY, although he has mentioned that before)
Too early for him to have regrets ofcourse, I wonder if will end up wishing he ahd stayed to partner Suarez?
i totally agree too , its nice to see my fellow liverpool supporters feel the same as i do , we have to be positive , everybody says there was no quick fix but i disagree because i think the confidence is back under kenny and with further additions in the summer i believe we can challenge for the title next season. KING KENNY = THE BIGGEST LEGEND THAT EVER WALKED
im with you guys too. think you'd have had an overload of agree's if the buttons were here lol
03 Feb 2011 17:15:01
Ed- what did you reckon to the formation last night? With 2 wing backs in Kelly and three central midfielders. I think it worked quite well and think it would work quite well against Chelsea as they have 3 central midfielders and 3 strikers. But what I can make of Kenny so far is that he will change the formation for what is needed in that particular game and not just stick to one.
What ya think ed?
{Editor's Note: I think Chelsea will pose a very different threat, so I expect a change of formation again from Dalglish.}
Hey Ed(s), hope all well lads. Saw someone mentioning "Cheers for Agger info" or something, and was wondering if it regards his future? Because personally, I see him and a new CB as the future for the LFC back line. Daniel Agger is by far our best centre half, a proper footballer, not a clumsy brute. He can obviously tackle, but he ability on the ball (He can pass, shoot, dribble, and always gives 110%). I feared losing him under Roy cuz he didn't rate him it seemed (which again. .I don't understand). But with a quality sweeper, or speedy CB alongside him our defence would be vastly improved, and with Kelly and a proper LB I'd say defence sorted for a few seasons. Just wondering waht your thoughts were regarding Dagger too.
I'm not a serial poster, but I'm a regular reader of the site and I admit, yeah I have posted one or two wind up's on the Utd page too.
Just had a look through the UTD banter page just to see if there was any negativity towards us signing Suarez-Carrol and there was plenty. Just read one from a lad who was already branding Suarez and Carrol "flops". Based on cold hard evidence, I can't understand how even a UTD fan can come up with this Be****nt?
Anyway, I wanted to ask whether there are specific ed's for each team forum, or is it the same who deal with em all?
Love the sight btw. was stuck to it all the way thrrough transferwindow. Cheers!
{Editor's Note: There are a number of Editors and none are tied to any particular team forum. So you could, for example, have a self-confessed Manchester United supporting Editor dealing with the posts on the Liverpool forum. It is all part of life's rich pageant."
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Cheers Editor's Note! Couldn't agree more my friend.
As it's all part of life's rich pageant, then it wouldn't hurt to allow a bit of harmless banter between fans of two fierce rival football clubs to continue. (not that it's wrecked my 2011 or anything)
We're all grown up's so no need to avoid hurting each other's feelings for instance.
Cheers though!
{Editor's Note: I am not entirely sure what point you are trying to make here. Banter is fine within reasonable constraints and one has to accept that different Eds will have different values. Out is foul language, moral turpitude, threats against players, racist or xenophobic remarks, mentioning specific events which could be considered distateful, use of acronyms or language which is not understood etc.. So banter is fine if you keep it to "our pies are better than your pies" type stuff.}
Gotta be loving the football last night. thought suarez's finish was a bit dodgy but hey its his first game in the epl which is probably the toughest league and his movement and work rate was great. surely kenny will get the job after this.sam37 (ps if we beat chelsea on sunday then we are only 6 points off 4th spot)
Ed
A few thought on the last 30 days:
1. We are undoubtedly finally have the right manager. Pass and move is coming back. Everything he says and does reeks quality and inspires the fans and players.
2. Kelly and Shelvey are being well and truly blooded by Kenny.
3. Players are being played in their natural position (save for G Johnson who is being asked to do a short term job for the team). Just look how Raul is thriving.
4. Carroll and Suarez replacing Torres who has clearly not been committed to our cause for quite a while will represent a huge improvement at no extra cost and adds more depth to the squad.
5. Suarez looks to have it all including a willingness to sweat and chase down when necessary (a la Rush).
6. Carroll has huge potential. He already frightens the life out of opposing defenders. As he matures further he will be unplayable.
7. Its the perfect time for Carroll and Suarez to join. They will have the rest of the season to bed in.
8. We have the best set of youngsters in a generation including Kelly, Suso, Sterling, Coady, Robinson - thank you Rafa for giving us Rodolfo and revamping the youth set up. We also continue to purchase gifted youngsters
9. We have no debt.
10. Kenny will have at least £60m to spend in the summer (the transfer window showed the owners were willing to spend £30m plus add to this monies from the sale of Aquilani, Insua, konchesky and the fact that our profits are no longer being used to service H & G's debt).
I have no doubt that Kenny will use his summer funds to buy 2-3 quality players for those key positions that need strengthening rather than half a dozen mediocre player in quantity. By the beginning of next season we will have a formidable squad. In my opinion Torres has defected for what will be no more than 6 months of benefit. By next season we really will be contenders and will be doing it the Liverpool way, with elegance, style and teamwork.
i totally agree too , its nice to see my fellow liverpool supporters feel the same as i do , we have to be positive , everybody says there was no quick fix but i disagree because i think the confidence is back under kenny and with further additions in the summer i believe we can challenge for the title next season. KING KENNY = THE BIGGEST LEGEND THAT EVER WALKED.
I think it was Skertle, who said this
03 Feb 2011 13:20:17
1 member of the squad apparantly spoke to i think it was the daily mail about torres"s attitude do you know who it was {ed's note - I don't, I haven't looked at the Mail in years to even know what the story is mate sorry. I will see if I can find out, these kind of things are normally common knowledge.}
I think this is the story you have mentioned. I google it and found the story
I have cut and paste this from the website
Liverpool plays describes Fernando Torres efforts this season as laughable
Now a Liverpool player, whose identity hasn't been revealed, has added his voice to the ones that are slamming the Spanish striker's behaviour.
"His efforts for the team this season under Roy Hodgson made everyone notice [that he wants to quit Anfield], " the unnamed player told the Daily Mail.
"On the pitch, he would definitely play for himself rather than for the team. Even the real pros like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher noticed that.
"But, when Torres is in top form, you would forgive him for anything. He has always been a complex character. He is so naturally gifted that he has always been totally self-absorbed.
"For the first year, we would put his quietness down to lack of fluent English. But then, he would come with some perfect words - which made you realize that he understood what was going on all the time!
"He's always been admired by his team mates - but not loved. He hasn't endeared himself in the way that Pepe Reina has, for example."
I'm not a serial poster, but I'm a regular reader of the site and I admit, yeah I have posted one or two wind up's on the Utd page too.
Just had a look through the UTD banter page just to see if there was any negativity towards us signing Suarez-Carrol and there was plenty. Just read one from a lad who was already branding Suarez and Carrol "flops". Based on cold hard evidence, I can't understand how even a UTD fan can come up with this Be****nt?
Anyway, I wanted to ask whether there are specific ed's for each team forum, or is it the same who deal with em all?
Love the sight btw. was stuck to it all the way thrrough transferwindow. Cheers!
{Editor's Note: There are a number of Editors and none are tied to any particular team forum. So you could, for example, have a self-confessed Manchester United supporting Editor dealing with the posts on the Liverpool forum. It is all part of life's rich pageant."
Ed, Who is our first choice CB and does KK rate AGGER?
{Editor Note: At the moment our first-choice pairing seems to be Skrtel and Agger. But Agger is without a doubt our best defender. And I'm sure KK realises that. Agger couldn't get a game under Hodgson and he's our main defender now under KK.}
A few thought on the last 30 days:
1. We are undoubtedly finally have the right manager. Pass and move is coming back. Everything he says and does reeks quality and inspires the fans and players.
2. Kelly and Shelvey are being well and truly blooded by Kenny.
3. Players are being played in their natural position (save for G Johnson who is being asked to do a short term job for the team). Just look how Raul is thriving.
4. Carroll and Suarez replacing Torres who has clearly not been committed to our cause for quite a while will represent a huge improvement at no extra cost and adds more depth to the squad.
5. Suarez looks to have it all including a willingness to sweat and chase down when necessary (a la Rush).
My missis and her whole bloody family are gooners, so for arguments sake i would like to see them happy and the arsenal win the league, also they would win it on merit which would be nice to see as opposed to the big money spenders. I fear the scum will win this year though, (i wept as i typed the last part).
Ed, Theres definitely no 'lesser' games for us for the rest of the season, every one of them vital. I take your point though, I really want to see Pacheco get his chance, before he loses heart. Ayala I'm not sure of yet, I've seen him on LFCTV quite a few times and he still seems shaky to me.
Mjr Hufton Tufton (rtd)
{Editor Note: The word lesser was used for a reason. For example, we could play Man Utd one week, and play Wigan the next week, and Wigan would be the lesser game.}
Just a note to ask if we have shown any interest in signing Lee Chung-Yong of Bolton? I have seen him in the Asia Cup and even last night vs Wolves he looked very good. He is quick, tricky and a has a great cross on him, I have been really impressed with his performances and, at only 22, has proven himself in the EPL. Any interest from us ED?
{Editor Note: There was under Rafa Benitez, and I would have liked him. I think he's better than Park Ji-Sung. But I've heard nothing of interest from KK and Comolli.}
Q: When Yossi travelled down to have talks with Chelsea in the summer, who was in the car with him?
A: It was Fernando Torres
And I am led to believe Torres discussed personal terms then? someone could back me up or correct me if I am wrong ?ya you are wrong its a stupid rumour cos torres was in spain with his wc team mates so stop posting crap and talk the truth
{editor: Torres had an extended break so he was not in talks with Chelsea at the same time as Yossi.}Didnt Yossi hold talks with Chelski before the end of the season? I remember reading that he signed before Benitez left and it was too late to change his mind. If I remeber correctly it was around late April early May he held those talks. Rafa didn't want him so he was allowed.
Konchesky - 2m
J Cole - 4m
Jovanovic - 3m
Poulsen - 3m
Aquilani - 12m
Darby - 1m
Irwin - 1m
Bruna - 500k
Degen - 1m
El Zhar - 1m
Insua - 2.5m
Mendy - 250k
Saric - 500k
Johnson - 10m
Agger - 8m
Skrtel - 8m
are you mad johnson is english and can perform when he wants to
Hello Fellow reds. . been away for a while because I have had nothing to moan about. . everythin is going very well for our club. With each passing day I feel we are going in the right direction and the press conference with suarez and carroll was brilliant.
Kenny has the press eating out of his hands and i for one am loving it!
The game on sunday is massive but Kenny's teamtalk has already been given by fernando. . we will be up for it this weekend! I feel so happy that NESV have shown that they mean business. . under H+G that money would have been siphoned off and we would be looking at a mediocre strike force. . compare that with the newcastle board who have gambled their premiership status by not bringing anyone in to replace carroll and it's like looking in a mirror at liverpool under the previous ownership. Hopefully the fans can now see that NESV are gonna be brilliant for our club and that carroll and suarez are gonna be legends. .
p.s even dirk kuyt is playing pass and move football. . I can't believe my eyes.
I can't agree with posters who call Soto 'deadwood'. The man gives his all, he clearly loves playing for us, and its that enthusiasm and desire that's going to take us up the division to somewhere closer to where we would hope to be. Fifth would be a great achievement after the turmoil of this campaign, fourth is out of reach in my view, it would take two teams to basically collapse, and I just don't see it. With regards to Man Utd winning the title, there isn't a thing we can do about it, so let it be. My hope is that Fergie will then retire to an armchair with Neville seated next to him as Kenny goes about knocking them right off their fu***ng perch!
Reality check;
You have already spent the torres fee, do you honestly thick, g****s could afford to pay more than three times what the 2 donkeys you signed, were worth otherwise.
{Editor Note: You need to get your facts straight kiddo. The Torres money was supposedly an invoice, meaning that it won't come through for up to 28 days, therefore Henry spent his own money on Carroll and Suarez. Not to forget that we also bid £20m for Micah Richards, and £18m for Young. So they potentially spent £95m. And even if we did get the Torres money right away, they would have potentially spent £45m of their money in a lesser window. Read up on the things kid, instead of spouting your rubbish.}
03 Feb 2011 15:41:33
Hi Ed, it's always people posting their team selection for the match against Chelsea.I'd really love you to just give your team selection against them as to who you think should play for each post and depending on the strategy you think best we'll adopt, be it 4-4-2 , 4-3-3 , 3-4-2-1 or whatever and how we should play(according to you) if Chelsea plays with 3 strikers including Torres. Thanks Ed.looking very much to it.
{Editor Note: My team would be: Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Lucas, Meireles, Gerrard, Suarez, Maxi, Kuyt. I would like to see Pacheco and Ayala get games however putting them into this type of the game where they could play poorly and it would knock their confidence. I think playing them in lesser games and letting them get experience would benefit them most. As for my team selection, well it is pretty much the team we've seen since Kenny arrived so I would play it and keep the momentum going. I'd have Kuyt up front as he is ineffective on the right, and I think he could do a job there with his hard work. Maxi and Suarez as inside forwards in the wider areas, swapping positions in a 4-3-3.}
A few seasons ago we had Neil Warnock in the Premier League and I thought that he was the biggest moaner there and that includes Ferguson's cohorts (no names needed!). He has now been replaced by that little weed at Blackpool. He's been in the top division for five minutes and already has an over-inflated opinion of himself and his club. I don't think Blackpool will be relegated this season but I am pretty sure that they will be next season - especially after we don't gift them six points like we did this season. Apparently Liverpool have no respect for Charlie Adam - I think that they had a lot of respect but couldn't buy him because Blackpool refused to answer the telephone when Liverpool rang on 31st January. We also read that Tottenham Hotspur were two minutes late to sign him but this was at a lot smeller price than Liverpool offered. I don't know where Adam will be next season but it certainly won't be at Bloomfield where next season he will play in only one match there - against Blackpool!
Ed who do you think is going to be our left back next season? also do you think Glen Johnson will be sold in the summer? {ed's note - I have no idea, but I very much doubt Johnson will be sold unless he asks to go.}
then do you think Kenny will play him as a right winger if we sign a quality left back?
{Editor Note: I would say he'll be used on the right-hand side.}
I'm wonder that if our worst nightmare came true and the league came to a two way shoot out between The Scum and Chelski who would our fans like to win it ?
The dilemma we have is that if The Scum win it they'll hold the record for league titles (althought it will only be for one season ;-) ) or if Chelski win it The Traitor will think he has being proved right by leaving us (although he'll realise that he was very wrong next season)
Glen Johnson is now showing what a superb player he is under Galglish.
03 Feb 2011 15:15:13
Ed (and everyone else), what positions do you think we need to strengthen. I am very excited about the summer transfer window and I think we will see even more improvement. I would look to get rid of all the deadwood like Aquillani (too lightweight), Jova, Cole, Insua, Skrtel, Soto, etc and look to bring in 5 new players. A CB, LB, CM and 2 wingers. Obviously players performances will change minds between now and the summer, but looking at it now i would like to see us sign: ADAM (British, prem experience), he will only have 12 months left on his contract so should be available for about £4m. YOUNG (British, prem experience), like adam he will have 12 months left on contract, £12m. TURAN, very good player, dreams of playing for LFC, £14m. So £30m for those 3 would be an absolute bargain! Still undecided on CB and LB, maybe G. Cahill for CB, he's young, british and has prem experience and he and Kelly, Wilson and Ayala would be good replacements for Soto and Skrtel. Would love to read everyone else's opinions and yours to ed.
m1ke91
{Editor Note: I would concentrate on left-back, centre-back and the wings. Would like to see Turan and Mata for the wide areas but I don't think Mata will be here.}
To the idiot that wrote this
Irish kev. ha ha ok I agree with you mate about you being apart ov the club but let's make one thing clear your not a scouser an really don't no what it's like glory hunter springs to mine you'll never know what it's like to be a scouser an support our beloved club FACT. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I wrote the following not to cause havoc but was just pointing out facts I see I got alot of reply's to my post again all the responses I did get were again not from SCOUSERS I don't care if ye Irish or ye from London an support I club I was just pointing out that you will never feel the affection towards the club like me it's FACT an you no it's true an you no it is this is my club an every other scouser were not arsed about outside support the club are revenue an shirt sales Liverpool is Liverpool not Irish Liverpool not londonpool not Welshpool not stokepool not anywhere pool but LIVERPOOL AND SITS JUST RIGHT IN ANFIELD FACT
can i point out a few simple things first
1. an should only be followed by a word beginning with a vowel otherwise it is "and"
2.no is the opposite to yes and does not indicate somebody "knows" it
3.well played try an alienate millions and millions of fans across the globe.LFC mean as much to the fans who cannot attend games for financial, geography or any other reason and if you had half a brain cell would realise that the fans across the world contribute to our club through merchandise etc.So please keep your zenaphobic(anyone that isn't a scouser) opinions to yourself you ignorant bigot.
if you would like me to explain any of the words used in this email please ask and i will assist all i can however i find the impossible takes time miracles a while longer.
sorry for the rant ed but people like this make me want to disassociate myself from the club LFC is global not just for Liverpool.
if you query where i am from, i live in Manchester but was born in Finchley road, off Clapham rd, which if you know Anfield runs off Anfield road and for those of you old enough to remember the old cop shop was at the top. I am therefore scouse and proud of it and i still attend games and fight our corner in mancland.
I read these posts at times and feel bemused with whats written, Liverpool supporters are Global, im a scouser but due to work ive lived around the world, i gave my season ticket to a friend many years ago, i don't attend matches but im a die hard fan, everywere i go i get asked about LFC, the club is Idolised the world over by all nationalities, its what makes it the best supported club on the planet, so lets not give the non attenders non scousers any more grief, we would need a 250.000 thou seater stadium just for the UK fanbase, never mind worldwide, so accept we can only get 40+ thousand at home games, and for the rest of us millions, its a case of watching TV or a PC, we are One, im not 100% happy with the current squad either, havent been for many a year, weve had idiots and incompetants running our club for 20 odd years, Moores, Parry, H and G, weve had managers who didn't have a clue, but i now feel things will change drastically over the next year or so as everything weve wanted for the past 2 decades are now back in place, remember, LFC are One, the rest are None, forget Nando now, hes history, lets create a new dynasty and look forward to the future of this great club.
Look at United, they have probabily less big names stars than we do now and still sitting comfy at the top of the table! Why because they are a Unit and want to wear the shirt.
This is what Kenny is doing at the moment and has already managed to make a bigger impression in 1 month than Roy did in 6! We look sharper, more aggresive going forward, got rid of a striker that for the last season and a half hasnt given a s**t and replaced him with a young english striker who in his first season in the prem has already score 11 PL goals for a team full of average players! Imagine what he can do with proper service! And a goal scoring machine with traits that resemble a tevez style player. scored on his debut within 16 mins!
Our youth has developed and is developing the likes of Suso, Pacheco, Ngog, Wilson, Kelly, Shelvey. . we have some excellent prospects coming through.
And as for King Kenny, nobody is more qualified to bring our club back to where is should be, nobody cares more about our history and our future than that man, and nobody else could be bigger than Gerrard and Carra in that dressing room. . You thought he was good 20 years ago! imagine that plus 20 years of studying the game!
I tell you what take your negative opinions and keep them to yourself. . because us Liverpool fans we hold our heads high when we walk through the storm!
Is there anyone on this site who cares to comment on the one player we actually have been critical of? The one that Hodgson has singled out alongside Agger. The one that has been told to play of position and who seems more than happy to do so. The one who has been thanked for his support by the youngster who took his preferred position. The one who doesn't sulk on the pitch for all to see and who has quietly picked up his game for the last month or so. He celebrates his teammates' goals because he cares about the results of the team. What about him?
Yes, I think he has been excellent in the last few games. It was a shame his header didn't find the net because he deserved a goal. And what about our Dirk? Played in his own position for a change and he still worked his butt off for us. The excitement is well and truly back; they were a pleasure to watch - every one of them last night. Kenny leads by example - what a fantastic return.
Is it me, but should we support Liverpool fc and not worry about what other teams are winning. If we get our act together and under Dalglish we will it won't matter
My thoughts on a summer clear-out, I've listed who I'll think will go and in rough order of the need to get them out:-
Konchesky - 2m
J Cole - 4m
Jovanovic - 3m
Poulsen - 3m
Aquilani - 12m
Darby - 1m
Irwin - 1m
Bruna - 500k
Degen - 1m
El Zhar - 1m
Insua - 2.5m
Mendy - 250k
Saric - 500k
Johnson - 10m
Agger - 8m
Skrtel - 8m
This would give us roughly £52m to invest in new players, and reduce the wage bill massivley.
I reckon we need a CH, LB, CM and a Left forward, as well as cover at RB. If we can get these postions filled with genuine class players, then we will be challenging for the title next year.
My preference for each need is Subotic, Gibbs, Banga/ Lass Diarra, Turan and Onouha
skirtel agger and johnson won't be going. its all good if we got 52 million but it would cost that to get 3 world class defenders so i don't think them 3 will be leaving. but left back and winger and another striker yes
Get a fu**ing life. You think you posting on this site will disrupt the mood of supporters?
This is why chelsea fans are s**t, Instead of concentrating on your own team you feel the need to come on liverpool sites and try stir things up!
Fact of matter is you probably only started supporting chelski in 2003 when billions of pounds were introduced to them ha ha!
Come back when you have some history and a european cup! And enjoy El sulk just another Ego to add to your squad of aging wannabes!
You are very childish and if honest, deluded to think that LFC as a club don't need non scouse fans. I have many scouse friends who do and don't go to the match, does this mean that these fans don't love the club as much? I am a scouser, born n raised in Lpool but gladly accept the need and want of fans from other than Lpool. The best will always attract the best. so whether ur martian, indian, irish, chinese, scouse, english doesn't matter. Irish Kev is as true a supporter as ive heard, just because hes not scouse doesn't mean his views or love for the club shouldnt be as much as a scouser. Once a red always a Red! !
£35 million for an injury prone, thug with only 19 epl games under his belt, Fail.
Suarez, may work hard (so does kuyt) , but again thug (7 game ban for biting), but he dives to much. Fail
Youngsters are ordinary, done nothing at youth level for years, at the moment it's chelsea, arsenal, m, city & sunderland, that have the best youth set ups. Fail
Kenny is out of his depth & will be playing the long ball game to the donkey. Fail
Owners are a sports venture investment group & they will in the next few years be selling thew club & taking the profit for there investers, Fail.
Just a little agger stat for you. . When agger has played we have only conceded 10 goals 3 were against city and 2 against (i forget ha ) Every other time we have only conceded 1 goal or kept a clean sheet. .
Still want to slate him?
Hes a great defender that offers a lot more to the team not just defensively but offensively as well!
My thoughts on the players performance v stoke!
Riena: Little to do but dealt with everything well, and mad a good save just after we scored the second which would have made the last minutes hard.
Johnson:Dont think anyone really got past him again, but also was forwards lots and is dangerous around the box.
Agger: Cool, calm and collected.great on the ball with good forward runs and passing, but defensively completely solid our best CB easily.
Soto:Perfect player for these kinda games wasnt troubled on the ground which is where he is dodgy so easy game for him.
Skrtel:still makes the odd stupid tackle but solid on the day.
Kelly:brilliant, got enought pace to keep up with pennant but good strength against all the attackers against him, not the greatest forward but he is a centre defender really but puts some good crosses like the glen johnson header.
Miereles:again great goal 3 in 4 now good to see, good passing and movement, still a bit week sometimes.
Lucas: watched the game 3 times now and basically never lost the ball lots of short passes to help the game ticking over which is what we need and also some good cross field passes, will have a big part to play v chelsea.
Gerrard: Class just dominated the whole midfield
Aurelio: like Lucas just defended well and kept passing keeping it ticking over did lots of passes to players just in fornt of the stoke defence which meant we could get close to the goal quick.
Kuyt: held it up well getting the team close to their goal
Suarez: closed down lots won the ball a few times, 2nd touch was a back heel and then made a few after aswell, passes then moved, hes pacey, good battler with defenders and didn't look to out of sorts in the new much faster league looked good unlike the blonde guy he actually passed around the box. i can see him being as good as that blonde girl just maybe not as good in the air but a better team player. Legend.
Ed
A few thought on the last 30 days:
1. We are undoubtedly finally have the right manager. Pass and move is coming back. Everything he says and does reeks quality and inspires the fans and players.
2. Kelly and Shelvey are being well and truly blooded by Kenny.
3. Players are being played in their natural position (save for G Johnson who is being asked to do a short term job for the team). Just look how Raul is thriving.
4. Carroll and Suarez replacing Torres who has clearly not been committed to our cause for quite a while will represent a huge improvement at no extra cost and adds more depth to the squad.
5. Suarez looks to have it all including a willingness to sweat and chase down when necessary (a la Rush).
6. Carroll has huge potential. He already frightens the life out of opposing defenders. As he matures further he will be unplayable.
7. Its the perfect time for Carroll and Suarez to join. They will have the rest of the season to bed in.
8. We have the best set of youngsters in a generation including Kelly, Suso, Sterling, Coady, Robinson - thank you Rafa for giving us Rodolfo and revamping the youth set up. We also continue to purchase gifted youngsters
9. We have no debt.
10. Kenny will have at least £60m to spend in the summer (the transfer window showed the owners were willing to spend £30m plus add to this monies from the sale of Aquilani, Insua, konchesky and the fact that our profits are no longer being used to service H & G's debt).
I have no doubt that Kenny will use his summer funds to buy 2-3 quality players for those key positions that need strengthening rather than half a dozen mediocre player in quantity. By the beginning of next season we will have a formidable squad. In my opinion Torres has defected for what will be no more than 6 months of benefit. By next season we really will be contenders and will be doing it the Liverpool way, with elegance, style and teamwork.
Who still pulls there weight at liverpool.
Answer is none of them, there all useless overpaid kn#b's.
We should sell gerrard next, lets face it, he's been crap the last 3 years. We will have to convince M.Sh#tty to sign him, chelsea wouldn't want him anymore, he's not good enough for them.
We might get enough to sign adam if we're lucky.
The difference inbetween the last 3 managers?
The King changes his system to fit the players that he has, the other 2 were too stubborn to change their system, or offer their players support.
How good was Kuyt? IMHO, he probably played the best game for us ever. I am looking forward to a Kuyt/ Suarez partnership. .Raul. . Suarez. . Lucas. . brilliant. Fernando who?? Bring on the Chavs!
1 member of the squad apparantly spoke to i think it was the daily mail about torres"s attitude do you know who it was {ed's note - I don't, I haven't looked at the Mail in years to even know what the story is mate sorry. I will see if I can find out, these kind of things are normally common knowledge.}
I think this is the story you have mentioned. I google it and found the story
I have cut and paste this from the website
Liverpool plays describes Fernando Torres efforts this season as laughable
Now a Liverpool player, whose identity hasn't been revealed, has added his voice to the ones that are slamming the Spanish striker's behaviour.
"His efforts for the team this season under Roy Hodgson made everyone notice [that he wants to quit Anfield], " the unnamed player told the Daily Mail.
"On the pitch, he would definitely play for himself rather than for the team. Even the real pros like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher noticed that.
"But, when Torres is in top form, you would forgive him for anything. He has always been a complex character. He is so naturally gifted that he has always been totally self-absorbed.
"For the first year, we would put his quietness down to lack of fluent English. But then, he would come with some perfect words - which made you realize that he understood what was going on all the time!
"He's always been admired by his team mates - but not loved. He hasn't endeared himself in the way that Pepe Reina has, for example."
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Maybe we can start a guessing game as to who this unknown player is. its definetly not cara of stevie since they are mentioned and the person speaks of torres's first year. so it has to be some one in the club then and now. lucas? agger perhaps? kuyt? any guesses people
Guys i went to the game last night torres was upfront, and put the same effort in he has done most of the season, i mean he as put as much effort in as not being there, we can now start playing with 11 players, so does that mean chelsea have got to finish the rest of the games with 10 men funny and thank you chelsea for the 50k
03 Feb 2011 13:35:35
Is it possible that we 'Internet' fans have been on the wrong player's case since the beginning of the season. Torres has been negative since before the beginning of the season and we have blamed Hodgson's tactics, his teammates, the owners (past and present), Gerrard, Carragher and the medical staff for it. But, in the end it is he who let the team down and later left to play to his potential. However, we let it all slide until he actually spit in all our faces and left for Chelsea. May, I remind you all that on his ladt game, he stormed off the field without applauding the fans who stood by him through his sulking. Enough about him, he is gone now. Is there anyone on this site who cares to comment on the one player we actually have been critical of? The one that Hodgson has singled out alongside Agger. The one that has been told to play of position and who seems more than happy to do so. The one who has been thanked for his support by the youngster who took his preferred position. The one who doesn't sulk on the pitch for all to see and who has quietly picked up his game for the last month or so. He celebrates his teammates' goals because he cares about the results of the team. What about him?
03 Feb 2011 13:34:44
At risk of being slated I think Carroll was overpriced for what he is. I'm sure we could have used the money to buy a more proven striker. He has had half a season in the top flight and done well, so did Geovanni for Hull when they came up but would you have him now? no.
I don't think we should have panic bought him, we're not going for title contender or, realistically, going for a champions league place. We have a squad capable of beating most teams in the division We should have been happy with Suarez and just aimed to maintain what we were already doing with Torres and saved the £50 million for the summer and planned out strategically who to buy not suddenly thought "oh s**t we need a striker".
I'm not saying Carroll isn't a great prospect, I think he has potential but to become the 8th most expensive transfer in history and the record British transfer? I don't agree.
A Rant!
I am concerned by the attitude that some sections of the liverpool faithful have towards non scouse supporters and feel that this could be the single biggest threat to the club as a global brand, Myself and my wife have lived in Liverpool in the past but I am not scouse and to me it does not matter, the attitude that to be a true supporter you have to be a Liverpool native and attend every game is old fashioned and outdated, as a family man who lives a fair distance from Liverpool it is not realistic for me and my family to attend games more than 2 or 3 times a year and some people would suggest that this means that we don't care as much. I can assure that the club means a lot more to us than most would say is healthy and any suggestion otherwise due to those considerations mentioned above would be ignorant, as much as I love the club my family comes first and in the nature of today's market that means supporting from afar with occasional pilgrimages for us to Anfield. It is bad enough that supporters such as myself are often made to feel like outsiders but there are many lfc fans who have never had the opportunity to attend a game or may live in countries on the other side of the world does that mean that they are not real fans? No, but I have seen the way that these foreign fans are often looked down upon (i sat near some Japanese fans last night and they were treated like second class citizens) when they do get the chance to go to a game (for some a once in a lifetime opportunity) and it saddens me. In my opinion anyone who wants to lend their loyalty and support to this club should be welcomed.
03 Feb 2011 13:15:55
Liverpool should definetly consider moving G. Johnson into a wingers role on the right.
He's a fit lad and can cover some defensive duties on the right along with providing attacking elements.
A left winger is needed, Ashley Young should top the list because he fits the same bill as Suarez and Carroll.
Young would also provide LFC with another English talent. That would include 6 English players already at LFC.
Hi guys.
i'v been telling all my family (liverpool supporters) for weeks that KK is goin back to how he had it last time he was here.
pass and move is evident for all to see and i remember on many occasions him playing with three CB's with the FB's bombing on. .they become your wingers.
with lucas mopping up and fabio finding raul and stevie it was great to see. kuyt did brill up front holding the ball up (as FT should have been) with SG and RM picking up the 2nd ball.
as for luis, he did in 20mins or so what FT hasn't all season. plus he brings so much more to the table.
last night was master-class from KK in nulifying their threat, yet still imposing our will on the game. with that in mind i really believe we can go to chelski and win. and the team/ formation to do it would be:
reina
skrtel carra agger
kelly lucas Jonno
raul stevie
suarez
kuyt
i'd bring suarez in for fabio purely to make it more offensive or if he wants to keep it tight, drop fabio in alongside lucas as last night and bring luis on to spark like last night.
either way i believe we can do it.
carra, agger and skerts will take care of drog, ft and anelka. kuyt will keep terry busy and the other Cb will have to come deeper to pick up one of SG or Raul allowing the other to run through.
this team is beginning to remind me of the late 80's one in that jonno is doing a steve nicol (playing wherever he needs to and well) the CB seem more in tune a la hansen-gillespie.
SG, raul, lucas = 3 of molby/ mcmahon/ whelan/ mcdonald
carrol, suarez = beardo and aldo.
the only thing we're missing is a Jonny Barnes and in my humble opinion i think that man is Ash young. he has all the attributes needed, he just needs the platform to shine
well done for last night boys. .bring on the chavs
Liverpool Fans,
What the hell is wrong with you lot?
Fernando Torres was without a doubt one of your best players for years!
You embraced him with open arms and he gave you 3 years of 100% effort and Complete loyalty.
Unfortunately Liverpool FC have been through a period of decline and are now rebuilding with the signings of Suarez and Carroll and also the return of Dalglish!
Is it so hard to understand that Torres watches his Spanish friends winning domestic and European honours year after year and he wins nothing!
Its time to wake up Liverpool fans to the fact your gonna win nothing this season, nothing next season and your gonna get smashed at the Bridge this weekend!
Oh and can one of you give Phil Thompson and John
Aldridge a slap for being so damn embarrassing!
Your history is history! It means f@ck all today! !
You're a f**king tw*t you. A total embarassment to our entire club. It's blithering idiots like you who are not real scousers and ruin the good name. Just because you're born there does NOT mean you automatically get birth rights to being a supporter of LFC or make you better than the outsiders.
I don't live in the UK. I'm originally from Africa. I have saved my entire life to get to Anfield. And I finally did it last season. To me it was like a pilgrimmage, sacred, heavenly, an out of body experience. And you think I'm not worthy of being called a true supporter? Mate, if anything, I'm a far more loyal supporter than you and I understand the club, it's culture and it's values far better than you.
I as well as millions of Reds around the world make up the majority of Liverpool supporters. We can't all get to every game but we are there in spirit. When I see Chelsea legends on TV I think to myself: Who the bloody hell is that?!
Chelsea think there a big club but Leeds are bigger, they have real legends like Jack Charlton, Billy Bremner and Allan Clarke.
The sooner Chelsea's bubble burts and they realise that they will never be a bigger club than us the better.
You're a f**king tw*t you. A total embarassment to our entire club. It's blithering idiots like you who are not real scousers and ruin the good name. Just because you're born there does NOT mean you automatically get birth rights to being a supporter of LFC or make you better than the outsiders.
I don't live in the UK. I'm originally from Africa. I have saved my entire life to get to Anfield. And I finally did it last season. But there is a generation of younger fans who love us because we are Unique and not like any club in the world , the passion , the love , the culture and of course the fans and Anfield So long as they sing The Liver Bird Upon My Chest I don't care la great site keep up the good work an people give some respect to edd for the site bless ya loads YNWA
Liverpool Fans,
What the hell is wrong with you lot?
Fernando Torres was without a doubt one of your best players for years!
You embraced him with open arms and he gave you 3 years of 100% effort and Complete loyalty.
Unfortunately Liverpool FC have been through a period of decline and are now rebuilding with the signings of Suarez and Carroll and also the return of Dalglish!
Is it so hard to understand that Torres watches his Spanish friends winning domestic and European honours year after year and he wins nothing!
Its time to wake up Liverpool fans to the fact your gonna win nothing this season, nothing next season and your gonna get smashed at the Bridge this weekend!
Oh and can one of you give Phil Thompson and John
Aldridge a slap for being so damn embarrassing!
Your history is history! It means f@ck all today! !
okay reality check roman abramovich only bought quality player to prove hes still in it but it still doesn't mean your team is rapidly in decline sunderland opend you up twice with ease. . and for your phil thompson and john aldridge being an embarssesment why don't you look at your own legends for help but that is a abit of a problem for you as you only have zola and thts it andd thts because . . YOU HAVE NO HISTORY! apart from what romans bought for you. .torres never give 110% for the last 18 month and a smashing at the bridge ouch i can't rele see it all i can remeber is the sweet blissfull sound of champions leauge finals to yourrr one defeat in the final when terry got a glimps of a buer and went weak at the knees. torres won't win nothing with you your even struggling to get 4th spot tied down and when liverpool pass you next year hell bee the moaning little sh** you inherited tht gives 25% and can't be bothered nomore tbh if he had the choice i fink he wuda went to city not use Soooo zip it you absalouty moron
The whole torres saga should be laid to bed after the weekend.
I hope liverpool fans show the maturity and style that KK has shown in the 'old liverpool' way and appluad Torres and even sing his name at the Chelsea game - he will no doubt realise then what a fool he has been, especially when we win.
He was one of the best and most talent players to play with our club and is in the worlds top 3 with Ronaldo and Messi - i rate him the worlds best striker. Everyone loved him and that is why we now hate him, but i'm sure he feels cheated in the same way by the clubs owners and feels resentment for wasting some of his best years - but for an extra win or two a few years ago things would have been so different.
Hopefully we are on the right track and another win a the weekend and who knows where we could end up by the end of the season. .especially with bruiser carroll and the class of suarez
still can't get round to changing the ring tone on my phone from the Kop singing the torres song, maybe on sunday. . .
I would just lke to say a big thank youto lfc for getting rid of el sulko, that for me was a massive statement of the club saying no one is bigger now you shall go forth an lose with chavski, we will see you on channel 5 again next year. on a serious note, it was a smart move and one we needed to freshen things up and to let the players know the owners mean buisiness and that its up to them to take responsibility to get us back in the champs league.
03 Feb 2011 11:22:26
Hi Eds, There was some banter yesterday about people watching the game on the internet, and people saying that they should go to the game.
I don't get to go to Anfield very often because of work and family commitments, not to mention the cost.
Yesterday though, I took the afternoon off work, travelled to Liverpool (about 35 miles) and spent the late part of the afternoon drinking in the atmosphere around the ground and enjoying the craic with some of the fans in the Albert.
I am absolutely made up today, to have been in the ground when Suarez scored on his debut. It seemed almost surreal to be watching him there, in the flesh, when only days ago we were glued to this site waiting for news of new signings, and hoping he'd be one of them. You couldn't make it up!
When I got home I watched the game again on Sky Football First, and then I watched MOTD because I wanted to hear what all the pundits had to say.
I sympathise with anyone who lives a long way away and can't get to the ground. If you're in South Africa, or Australia or USA it doesn't mean that you're not a red. And we're all proud of our world wide support (which will also stand us in good stead when the Fair Play rules come in, because of all the money we generate from overseas. . far more than Chelski I'm sure).
My message is carry on watching the game on the telly (I needed to in order to see the goals properly last night!) or the internet, but if you can get to a game now and again try and do it. It's special and it's good for the soul.
35 mill was a decent price for Carroll he's averaging 1 in 2 in his first season in the prem with newcastle, just wait till he is fit hes gonna bag loads of goals and think of all the space hes going to create for suarez, gerrard and mirelles, the kids going to be the future england no 9.
i also guarentee shelvey, carroll and kelley will all be regulars at next years world cup, look at chelsea and manures team half of those will be dead in 3 years, coffin dodgers.
Was at the game last nite and was really disappointed with the atmosphere. . . there was a buzz at the start of the game with Carroll being introduced and wen suarez was annonced on the bench but as soon as the whistle went the stadium went silence and didn't really pick up until suarez started warming up. . the 2nd half i'll admit it got better but that was only down to the goal and the introduction of Suarez. . . and thoughts on why this mite of been the case ed?
also wud just like to point out i fort lucas had a great game last nite. . . he had a shacky first 10/ 15mins at the start of the second half where we switched off but in the first half he was in full control of that game pinging balls round for fun. . he was let down twice from GJ with poor first touch but good to see KK getting the best of him
please post on rumours
{editor: I don't think that the atmosphere was too bad. Once the Kop writes more songs about our new players it will be back again.}
The 2 wingers i would go for Harry5 would be Ashley Young and Adam Johnson mate. I believe that both of them could be a real possibility, especially with Adam Johnson not getting a regular start in the City team. But like we've seen with Carroll we might have to pay over the odds for them, like everyone has to for young English players.
"This is why I think its funny when people post lineups in a 4-4-2. We werent bidding on Adam to not play him and we certainly aren't going to not play Gerrard or Meireles. Kenny wants to play a 3 man midfield."
There's always the possibility he'll shift Gerrard to the right in a 4-4-2? He's one of the best crossers of the ball and we've paid good money for a forward that's an aerial threat.
I think Kenny was thinking ahead to Sunday with the tactics last night. . I think it set up as 3-6-1!
With this we have 4 central players which Chelsea may play in a diamond formation, We have wing backs who will get tight to their full backs. and 3 center backs, 2 man marks and one free and one up top but also it could be aurelio left out suarez coming in and going 3-5-2!
You never know, just can't wait for Sunday! !
Hey Ed that was a excellent team performance last night, watched it on my laptop (my p2p) KK certainly likes changing our format. . I was really impressed with Kuyt up front, he's always getting slated on here but no one can question his commitment & work rate good team player. Kelly again was brill & even Johnson impressed, wel me anyway. Gerrard, Lucas & Meireless bossed the midfield & the big Greek along with Skertal & Aggar were solid at the back as Carew can be a handfull!
As for Suarez's debut. . I think we're on a winner their can't wait for the big man to be fit. . the whole team worked hard for each other & of course us fans.
looking forward to Sunday. . only wish Carrolll was fit.
I'm sure we will see more of the youngsters as well soon. . wilson, Pacheco, Suso. . Shelvey looks to be well in the frame now & Kelly has made the RB position his own, would love to see Johnson playing RM. . had the good fortune to get 2 corporate tickets for the home game against B'mingham canny wait. .
Hope KK keeps the job. . YNWA Micky Dover
Just wanted to say that I posted on here a few weeks ago about the fact that 3-5-2 was without doubt our best formation with the players we have, and last night KK agreed. Thought we played well despite this being our first outing with this formation.
Would like to see Wilson and kelly alonside Agger though, with aurelio at left wingback and johnno as right. more balanced.
This formation will also allow us to play Carroll and suarez, as well as gerrard and mereiles supporting.
Come on the reds!
Have to mention Dirk Kuyt, he has had a bit of stick on here latley but had a very good game vs Stoke playing as a striker.
- -
100% agree. Dirk's performance was missed given the hype (deserved from what I saw) about Suarez. In a more central but flexible role, Dirk will work very well with Carroll & Suarez, supported by Gerrard & Meireles in the middle and Kelly, Johnson & Aurelio from the wings. I can see a lot of interchanging of positions between all the players up front.
And how many different players are we seeing in the opposition's box now?
Since KK has come back - what a change in attitude and confidence throughout the team. And we are playing as a team. The passing move before Dirk's spin and shot was sublime.
Lucas and Agger continue to impress.  Soto a threat from set pieces. God help us, I almost passed out when Skrtel pressed and won the ball and found himself 25 yards out - I know he should have slipped Dirk in rather than shoot, but he had the right positive attitude and I'll forgive him his rush of blood.
I was hopeful of a change, but what a change and so quick.
Really looking forward to Sunday!
One last thought: individual players win games (sometimes); teams win championships.
Ed what are the rules gonna be with regards to foreigners in your sqaud for nxt season. whats the split against english homegrown players?
The reason I'm a bit worrried is that we all know how overpriced english players are eg. Carroll 35m. But at the moment we seem to be linked with mostly overpriced english players eg 18m Young 20m M.Richards. . when you can get better value i think abroad. . .Llorente 30m. .hazard 15m Kjaer 15m. .
Dave. .
Your thoughts pls ed. . .
{editor: If you name a 25 man squad, 8 have to be home grown.}
03 Feb 2011 09:15:34
Why will he be gunning for us? What did we do to him?
He's had service from Gerrard and Meireles for half a season and scored nine goals. Forget about the "no service" excuse, that was another example of our fans making up excuses for the fact Nando ain't as sharp as he was. I expect a lot of hype from Sky, some cheesy montages and an overwhelming majority of pundits going for a Liverpool thrashing, which will be followed by a lame performance from Torres and possibly (POSSIBLY) us sneaking a win.
You are bang on mate, Torres got plenty of service and his last few goals were given on a plate, and the 2 at wolves he didn't even celebrate, at times if the balls were not played to his feet he would go on one. and if he lost the ball he would just stop and refuse to chase back.Is it any wonder his team mates were fed up with his attitude.
You think ed that we still lack natural wingers? Especially if we have got Andy Carroll. I know he is a bit of a loose cannon but im a huge fan of Charles N'zogbia as he has pace, skill and a good shot. Any thoughts?
03 Feb 2011 08:52:33
Hope that we can now focus on bringing in Arda Turan and Taye Taiwo (solid leftback, with pace) that would do the job. With the current squad and these two and of course getting rid of a few. We can be playing beautiful football (Liverpool football) and challenge for honours.
Have good day fellow REDS
Of course we are not happy at the thought that Scum Utd will beat our record should they win this season. Wishing and hoping that one of the other higher placed teams will overtake them is just that, a wish.
How can we can rectify this? WIN WIN WIN! And that is what we are going to do. Let them have the bragging rights for 1 season. I couldn't give a toss. We'll smack them next season. We are back.
Let us stop the sc*m by beating them fair and square. We are Liverpool FC, no matter what performance, what position in the league, we are Liverpool FC. Best club in the world, best supporters in the world, best culture in the world. NOBODY can take that away from us. NOBODY. Only we know how we feel in our hearts.
You'll never walk alone.
YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE! ! !
What a performance. After the crazy week of transfers, our top striker leaving us, I'm sure lots of doubts were in our minds and in our player's minds. But just look at our boys. Hearts of Gold.
Your highness King Kenny Dalglish, I LOVE YOU. We support you 110%. Where have you been all these years? Nevertheless, we are overjoyed that you are back. You are amazing. Had you not been a footballer, you would have been a motivational speaker, a General, a Commnader. You are amazing. You have changed the team from zero under Roy to hero. You even made Poulsen look good! And I thought that was as possible as me getting to sleep with Zoe Saldana. But alas, we have turned the corner.
NESV/ FSG, thank you soooooooo much. Thank you for your support. You have brought back smiles to our faces and true hope in our hearts after a long time. Hicks & Gillet, hang your heads in shame. You brainless tos*ers.
I do not care what happens from now on, I just want KK, NESV/ FSG and our soldiers to know that we, the supporters, are happy. We are right behind you. We have been behind you eventhough the times have been very hard and we are delighted that finally LIVERPOOL FC is back where it should be.
Fernando Torres, all you had to do was utter some kind words and appreciation. But, one cannot expect gratitude from the ungracious. One cannot expect manners from the insolent. My very good mate is a colchonero, an Atletico die hard, now I understand how they felt and still feel. I am delighted that you are gone. You are no longer as good as people make you out to be. Your transfer request was a blessing in disguise. Thank you. Your future performances will tell. Enjoy warming the bench you impertinent tw*t.
Long live Kenny, long live Liverpool FC. Blood.
Hi all. Im now looking to the future. The entire ft fiasco was sad and hurtful but after yesterdays display i have renewed hope.
I love our club dearly and i am confident that we can push for 4th place. There seems to be a balance in the team now and belief that we can beat anyone. It was lacking a while back. We may not have stars but we have a team that wants to do well for liverpoolfc. What do you think are our realistic chances of finishing 4th ED?
{editor: I don't want to say we will or wont get 4th but it is not impossible.}
03 Feb 2011 07:52:03
Just wanted to conratulate the team & KK on a good performance last night. Kuyt played well up front and mereiles scored his 3rd goal in 4 games. Amazing what players can do when players are picked in their correct positions and not shoved out on the wings!
El Pistolero also scores on his debut! Well done Luis! !
Hi Ed,
Any Chance of the Aqua man coming back, i think with him in the midfield will give Suarez and carrol the passes that are required.
we will once again be a frontline to be feared.
What do you think?
Bel : Yes Unbel : No
{editor: A small chance, very small. He doesn't want to come back to us but Juve aren't willing to pay our asking price. I don't expect him to be in an LFC kit next season.}
03 Feb 2011 07:21:02
Hi ed, please post this. . . . . this may be my first post in my 100th attempt. . . . .
Yesterdays 5-3-2 formation was a great success. Our next fixture is against Chelsea and we need to repeat this formation and hopefully performances too. . . .
Skrtel may took care of Drogba and greek may mark Anelka. .And Agger can control the runs of Selfish. . . .
Kelly has proven against Malouda. . . . . .
There is a Suarez to attack and he will be helped by Raul and Captain fantastic. . . . . . . .
We need to ruin Selfish's party. . . . . .
So much chat here about ft not having good supply and when he did he scored. anyone remember the Tottenham game? ft had good supply and missed a couple of sitters
03 Feb 2011 07:12:14
FERNANDO WHO?
He has been the "Darren Bent" for us for the last two seasons. . Does nothing for 80 minutes, plays for 10 and pops up with a goal. . Yes he was one of the most naturally talented players we had but honestly Suarez alone is better than him and you will see it in the coming weeks forget about 5 and a half years(Reason? PASSION & Love for the game. Kuyt falls in that catagory of PASSIONATE but its a pity he doesn't possess as much natural talent).
We've watched Torres evolve into a diver and a cry baby. Not worth the Red Shirt but as die hard Reds fans that we are, we always go down with the ship.
CARROLL is a Demon. With him in the team it would free up everyone to play their natural game. And even if he doesn't score that many, his presence alone is worth 20mil cos you would now have Suarez, Gerrard & Meirelles playing like they are worth 50mil each with the space they are going to get.
Stop moaning people. . Change has come. . and for those young supporters who've never witnessed a Great Liverpool. Its time to raise the bar on what u expect out of our team. The acceptance of mediocrity, the settling for draws, the top four ambitions need to be wiped out your vocabulary.
THIS IS LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB
PASSION, TRADITION, TROPHIES
and we do not settle for second best.
The King is in the house. .
IT HAS BEGUN. .
You'll Never Walk Alone
. .Yas
No rumours, just fact!
So for every game since Kenny arriwed back I thought, what! Why does he field such a team, and I thought the same tonight. .
But, every time we can sit back and think, this is well thought of, and if he plays Poulsen, I'm confident because of Kenny.
We have played in different ways every match, this really shows Kenny/ Clarke are doing hell of a job.
Chelsea doesn't have a clue how we will be playing on sunday.
So my wishes other than 3 points on sunday:
1. Appoint Kenny now for as long as he want's
2. Trust the owners, the future will be much different, with new rules.
3. Caroll to score on his debut against wigan to!
And just like Kenny said, 1 game at the time, and we add together and the end and see where we are.
Even if Reina was to leave, we have got our forward plan in place, even with Suso and Pacheco for next year(Sterling, Amoo, Ince and mabye others).
We can concentrate on defence now, wich prob. need 3 players LB, 2 CB(Agger getting there, Skertl great sub, or Wilson comming through only 1)
Can't wait for the game sunday, even though we might loose, there's light that hasn't been there for a long time.(Even here in Denmark, where we are just as passionate than all of you!)
03 Feb 2011 06:16:50
Lads it is time to feel a bit more optimistic, if we beat chelsea on sunday the race for fourth is well and trully back on, can u imagine us beating chelsea to fourth at the end of the season and the look on Fernando's face lol
(lets hope and pray i believe in god and KARMA)
Juan Mata and Eden Hazard/ Alexis Sanchez. . these 2 in the summer with captain gerrard leading and king kenny guiding and i'll be worshipping this team for ages to come(even though my hero torres is missing :( although suarez's 1st goal made me completely forget abt him). . just 2 be greedy i'll throw fabio coentrao and Arda Turan into the mix. .Another Striker like hulk or benzema will turn into fantasy. What a team it can be though! Red Indian
{editor: I prey to god that he doesn't!}
Do we have something against Nottingham Forest? If not, why did we loan them Konchesky? We may have ruined their chances of promotion - LIVERPRES
Think that makes Pepe #3 on our all time clean sheet list,
But i may be wrong on that particular stat!
Cheers & goodnight one & all!
I nearly cried when I saw Lucas play a 40 yard long ball. I thought he only knew 5 yard square passes
Just want to mention something quick before bedtime for me,
Pepe Reina surpassed Elisha Scott's clean sheet record for Liverpool tonight.
This again just shows that Pepe is fantastic!
Thank chri$t he plays for us!
A lot of people probably missed this fact due to Suarez netting on his debut.
Congrads Pepe!
Cheers,
Irish Kev.
Regards to all the controversy as to whether Liverpool is owned by NESV (New England Sports Venture) or FSG (Fenway Sports Group), Luke Traynor, Liverpool Correspondent for the Liverpool Echo sent me an email regarding the matter, stating "this was clarified with Liverpool FC last week, who stated the owners of the club were Fenway Sports Group." {ed's note - according to the official site: John Henry and Tom Werner are the ultimate owners of The Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Limited (the Club), each owning 50% of the voting rights in the Club.}
So media reports stating FSG own Liverpool is correct and no need for anger or annoyance from supporters.
1-It was interesting to see how Kenny tried to get width by playing 3 centerbacks in an attempt to give Johnson and Kelly the freedom to push up. In theory it makes sense but as Suarez and Carroll integrate into the team it won't last. The best way to do it I think would be to have Poulsen or Lucas play as a true anchor man in midfield and thus essentially forming a 3 man defense giving the fullbacks freedom to push up.
2-Meireles has turned into a star under Kenny! Its amazing how a manager who will put a player in the right position can get the best out of a player. Him and Gerrard in midfield will work wonders.
3-Suarez looked great, not only the goal but he was close to working some clever passes. The types of passes we havent seen in Anfield in a while.
4-Kuyt can be a force when allowed to stay centrally and not play as a winger. I think when Carroll comes back they need to play a 3 man attack with Carroll in the center of Suarez and Kuyt. Give Dirk and Luis alot of freedom to move inside, make Kelly and Johnson provide width plus give Gerrard and Meirles freedom to drift wide.
When the team is fully fit I think our best 11 would be:
GK-Reina
LB-Johnson
CB-Carragher
CB-Agger
RB-Kelly
DM-Lucas
CM-Gerrard
CM-Meireles
LF-Suarez
CF-Carroll
RF-Kuyt
I am so optimistic right now. Its likely too late to get into the top 4 this year but we need to play well and finish no lower than sixth. We need to get momentum for next year. We need to play well and become a team where players around Europe think "that is a team on the rise, I want to go be a part of that!"
- - - - - - - - _ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Agree with you mate just one thing tho I would much rather have pacheco up top with carrol and Suarez than kuyt because he is a better footballer kuyt is an engine yes but lacks skill and control and he is getting older that engine won't last forever time to bring in some real talented youth i.e suso Pacheco coady sterling ect can't wait for next season under kk gna be a good one
Please torres I want you to have a good look at what passing a ball means and not to whine at the touch of another player and what putting an effort means it might help you in your career in the future, I meant suarez, you ungrateful useless footballer.You should have had the decency to say that you had agreed all this all the way back in the summer with the russian, and you should have come out and said your goodbyes properly on tv . No class just selfishness! One more thing please stop spreading all these rumours about Reina wanting to leave because it just puts down the morale of everyone and a silly thing like that will spread and turn into reality. THE LADS need our SUPPORT not crap.what do you think ed?
hibsylfc {ed's note - very true, it is time to get behind what Kenny is doing at Anfield, he will do greater things than he did last time I think.}
HI ED I thought we had a good game tonight, with Johnson doing well in his new position, and God rewarding us for a depressing week for all lfc fans and supporters alike, and i feel very uplifted by KK saying the owners have given him the go ahead for the summer to buy whoever he likes. I feel we are on the up and when we get into the champs lg let's see what ft will say?ed honda and turan are a must from what I saw today what do you think?
hibsylfc {ed's note - Turan and another winger, yes, but I have to say I am not so sure we need Honda now. Much as I love him as a player, I am not sure he is an essential signing any more.}
I saw a post earlier today with a team line up of regular posters on here - was i imagining this ed?
Can't find it now but i'm very upset.
I was playing the FT9 position.
My midfielders were offering me no support & i'm only just back from injury after International duty for the second time in the past few weeks!
WTF!
That's it - i want a transfer!
I feel we will never win anything with Macca at left back either - he's right footed FFS.
Anyone got Roman's number?
Irish Kev. {ed's note - it was there, I remember being left out altogether when clearly I should have been manager!}
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Well you're time will come ed's, can't keep talent down like.
What i want to know though is who'd be the poor guy having to massage our sore, sweaty & tired inner thighs to get us fit for the next game though?
And who'd be the tea lady cause i'm bloody parched?! Where the bloody hell is she? Ha ha!
Irish Kev. {ed's note - knowing my luck it would be me making the drinks!}Well mine's a Bud please pal.
By the way, Suarez? First impressions ed's?
Thought, he did very very well myself considering he hasn't even trained with us yet.
When was the last Liverpool player to never train with us but yet score for us?
Never surely,
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {ed's note - I was excited by what I saw of him tonight, he really looks the business, I can see him linking up well with Carroll.}
Heres hoping lad.
Chased lost causes too tonight.
Think Carroll could be a revelation for us too.
Think the fans will love both of them really.
Carroll wears his heart on his sleeve so we'll all appreciate that considering we haven't had a hungry forward since 2009.
Someone mentioned the other night that £35m was too much for Carroll but £50m was too much for FT.
If FT was sold for £30m & we bought Carroll for £15m who would say there was a problem then price wise?
Same difference though - £15m.
Irish Kev. {ed's note - I agree completely mate. That is the nly way to look at it.}
I don't mind admitting I was wrong about him, from what I had seen I wasn't keen, but he really looks the part.}
Hello Mr.Chelsea.
Bring it on;
I wonder if they'll buy thier fans little chelsea flags like they did a couple of years ago? You've got to create an atmosphere some how I guess?
Its true, our recent history hasnt quite been as we had previously become used to, but the King is back to reclaim what is rightfully ours - maybe not this year, but soon enough. Torres is also our recent history, we loved him, more than Chelsea ever will, and I still respect the player, whilst not fully respecting the man anymore. We'll see how things play out over time - perhaps he'll be best remembered as a Red and over time we'll forgive the past few days words. Perhaps not, still, Suarez is looking rather promising right now eh?
So mr sole Chelsea fan on a Liverpool site, see you at the match - it should be good - don't worry though, we'll bring our own flags and atmosphere. YNWA
Just a quick question ed.
Is there any way to set up something like a recognition thing so when we log on here we can see who else is on site at the same time? Almost like the chat site that was on here in the summer, just with slower posting as it is now (not instant) after you eds do your editing first etc.
It'd probably cost ye too much to set up or require stuff like usernames & passwords making things overly complicated for some people.
I'm sure you've been asked this or something like this before - sorry if so mate.
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {ed's note - it was a bit of a disaster to be honest the chat room mate. Cost a lot of money and was very underused. It would be nice to have it more instant, but people abuse anything you do for them to be honest. It is much harder work moderating than editing.}
Ok mate, no worries.
Yeah, some people have no respect.
Ya give give give & they still want more!
Someone always has to spoil the fun!
Cheers,
Liverpool Fans,
What the hell is wrong with you lot?
Fernando Torres was without a doubt one of your best players for years!
You embraced him with open arms and he gave you 3 years of 100% effort and Complete loyalty.
Unfortunately Liverpool FC have been through a period of decline and are now rebuilding with the signings of Suarez and Carroll and also the return of Dalglish!
Is it so hard to understand that Torres watches his Spanish friends winning domestic and European honours year after year and he wins nothing!
Its time to wake up Liverpool fans to the fact your gonna win nothing this season, nothing next season and your gonna get smashed at the Bridge this weekend!
Oh and can one of you give Phil Thompson and John
Aldridge a slap for being so damn embarrassing!
Your history is history! It means f@ck all today! !
Cya Sunday! !
He didn't give us 100% actually, so maybe you should have done your homework first - now i'm not going to get into a discussion with you cause you're quite honestly not worth it. But get your cocky attitude right little man & your facts.
And next time you're being such a big mouth - try signing off with your name.
You're lot will never have what we have here - history, tradition, family club & genuine supporters.
You've no idea what it feels like to be a part of a club like this!
None whatsoever.
Now go back to JT & your other friends before he gropes up your mrs & mamma (at the same time).
Irish Kev.
The Chelsea game is going to be an awkward one. I bet he is going to go down easy close to the penalty box and try to get loads of easy free kicks. That's kind of Torres' style. .
Great result tonight boys. I'm not being funny but Kenny is the manager we need. I really had my doubts but just look at the team spirit! I'm so excited for the Saurez/ Carrol partnership.
I know it's in the past now but if there is one thing i thank Woy for, it's for signing Raul! Woy you chancer, you did one thing right!
I cannot understand how a former manager of Liverpool can get such abuse from idiots like this. He took the job on, gave it his best, but it didn't work out. But he got a lot of things wrong, and it cost him the job. Rightly so. He wasn't up to the job. But, I have no doubt he always did what he felt was best for the club, and he never bad mouthed the LFC after he left (unlike some). He still deserves respect. And to mock a speech impediment is just childish beyond belief.
Ola,
I saw a post earlier today with a team line up of regular posters on here - was i imagining this ed?
Can't find it now but i'm very upset.
I was playing the FT9 position.
My midfielders were offering me no support & i'm only just back from injury after International duty for the second time in the past few weeks!
WTF!
That's it - i want a transfer!
I feel we will never win anything with Macca at left back either - he's right footed FFS.
Anyone got Roman's number?
Irish Kev. {ed's note - it was there, I remember being left out altogether when clearly I should have been manager!}
I can't help thinking that if Kenny had not left (through intense stress and depression at the aftermath of Hillsborough) then LFC would not have had the 90s it did. We would probably have added a few more titles to our name too.
The man is a charming and dedicated LFC fanatic who totally 'gets' the club and its fans (one and the same, I hasten to add).
Roll on the Knighthood. And the bright future please.
King Tubby.
Why will he be gunning for us? What did we do to him?
He's had service from Gerrard and Meireles for half a season and scored nine goals. Forget about the "no service" excuse, that was another example of our fans making up excuses for the fact Nando ain't as sharp as he was. I expect a lot of hype from Sky, some cheesy montages and an overwhelming majority of pundits going for a Liverpool thrashing, which will be followed by a lame performance from Torres and possibly (POSSIBLY) us sneaking a win.
Brilliant post mate!
Kenny said it - we are only interested in players that WANT to play for us.
Andy looked like he couldn't wait to put on a red shirt.
If Reina wants to leave, fine.
Pity we let a couple of half decent goalies go.
WANT to play for us.
Lucas's attitude has always been excellent.
Have you seen him play for Gremio in Brazil ?
Outstanding !
I know ed your not a fan of soto, but in the match he was making lots of important tackles and was always battling with carew in the air all night long and was on him like JT on a team mates wife.
i thought he was one of the better players however just outshined by the other players who played well. and suarez looks fantastic his work rate and touches were drewl worthy.
As much as i loved the other guy, yuk spit spit! !, i think suarez is brill and going to score a lot more goals and play for the team, he seems to have a lot more in his locker, he will go back looking for the ball and as soon as he has got ball pass and move, and to see kk with a rye smile on his face saying he has not even trained with the lads yet, hes gonna be a good un, ynwa jimmybosun,
Who cares what he said mate? His words are obviously worthless. We should be more like Kenny and not talk about other teams players.
We should be looking forward to what looks like a bright future. With Carroll, Suarez, Mireless etc. not talking about other teams players.
So please, please, please everyone stop talking about our ex no.9 we've got a new one, a half decent no.7 and a great manager.
Blair Mayne YNWA
PS And our no.8 isn't bad either.
3 wins 3 clean sheets and plus 2 goal diff for the first time this season. . look out all the reds are coming. . its good to be a red with a smile again thanks to the owners, king kenny and the players, to be able to put a terrible season on and off the pitch behind them. love all the eds to great job.
sod it i am going to get carried away and say we can catch 4th. . i am a liverpool fan who believes.
RE: Torres Supply issues
i remember the Man Utd, Torres had no supply first half, Chelsea game that we one, he got the ball once and managed to score. Under Roy the supply to him was poor.
Re: Just saw Suarez on MOTD, omg have we got ourselves a little tevez
I don't think he is a Carlos Tevez he doesn't seem strong like Tevez. Maybe a Peter Beardsley.
RE: Kenny playing the formation he did is going to confuse the hell out of Chelsea at the weekend; they don't know what to plan for.
I think Torres and Chelsea will be a whole different tactical problem. Drogba, Torres, Anelka is a lot of power and pace and skill to defend against. We will See Man Utd style of football when they use to have Rooney, Trevas and Ronaldo in free following mood.
Our Defense is still too slow to couple with Torres or Drogba and we all know Torres need half a chance to score. For the first time this season Torres will be receiving decent supply. Expect a Torres hatrick.
He will be gunning for liverpool
