Eds, do you think Kenny will have some money to spend in the summer. What do you think we need to buy? {Ed001's Note - yes. Right winger and striker are the priorities in my opinion.}

Luuk de jong and the outside chance of adam johnson if city keep up their total diregard for the player and also maybe a right back. Isla?

Luuk De Jong, Isla and Marin for me. Possibly Kagawa if we make the champions league.

That's about 70 millions worth, which might be a but steep but sales should recoup 20 - 25 if Johnson and Kuyt leave plus a few others.

I have just discovered the link from soccertvlive.net has been closed down(firstrowsports has been shut down by homeland security). Can anyone let me know of a link so that i can watch the game on Monday {Ed001's Note - I bet we can all sleep safer in the knowledge that such a dangerous practice as screening free matches has been removed from the net! Homeland security? What a joke!}

The site has changed from .com to .eu so that the American Government can't touch it, forgot to mention that bit.
Scouse_Pride

Go down the pub!

MidlandRed

I use Vipbox mate. They give you up to 7-8 links for the game everytime. The best link usually is Sopcast.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Aw man, that was a good one too.

I also found this out yesterday. Wiziwig worked for me when I tried to watch an A-League game (don't know why I bothered though!)

I use wiziwig all the time only thing i found was the sopcast links didn't work! But if you right and go on inspect element then click on the sop address normally starts sop:// that will load sopcast onto that channel! Hope this helps!

Runcorn Red!

Livefootballol.com u need sopcast

FYI Im on this site everyday and not once have I seen the Eds questioning Johnsons talent. The player just doesnt seem to be arsed sometimes. {Ed001's Note - that is exactly it! His talent is without doubt, it's the application that is lacking.}

Forgot to sign - Dara D
He is so frustrating (Johnson)

Is the name CornishRed taken ed?
If not I will be taking it

Hopefully CornishRed ;) {Ed001's Note - I don't recall it being used before.}

CornishRed

Im not happy about this
(the real ) CornishRed

I'm Cornish red, and so is my wife.

Best tip to the new cornishred, go to the search box, type in "cornishred" and see if any posts come up, so when you pick a name, just do that and it no results come back, it's yours i guess, but i'm pretty sure cornishred is well and truly taken.

Somebody posted on here the other day with my sign-off too, if they had searched the name first, they'd see it's already in use.

Red7.

Wow, i just did a search on cornishred, no results...... I'm sure i've seen the name on here before??

Stumped...

Red7.

HA!, just searched again but as "cornish red" - 2 words. up came about a million posts, i'll shut up now.

Red7.

Im wondering if I should change to
Cornish Chris in Tamworth?

Sorry man I had no idea I guess it's back to drawing board with names

You should keep The Cornishred Reject

Is the name Blair Mayne already taken?

Right don't laugh at me but I was playing a FIFA head to head match (online) when I randomly played a Tottenham fan of all people and I beat him 2-1 so that is my prediction for the match!

My team for Spurs game:

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Spearing
Gerrard Adam
Suarez Carroll Bellamy

We definitely need 5 in the midfield to try and cancel out Spurs' midfield of Modric and Parker who are both on good form, we need to shut Bale out of the game as he (although overrated) has been instrumental in their recent success. And of course, fantastic to have El Pistolero back!

Thanks eds take care.

maka
YNWA JFT96

Henderson in place of adam for me. Adam wont be able to keep up with spurs' fast paced game.
Indian Buzzer

Bale is not overated, hence barca looking at the lad. Spurs will tear Liverpool new a£$es

To the unnamed poster:
Bale maybe having a fantastic season, but its still too early to call him world class. He relies too much on pace. In about 5 years, he will be no better than downing or young.
Indian Buzzer

Agree with Indian Buzzer, both posts. We need Hendo and Spearing to chase the ball and allow Gerrard to provide the passing. Bellamy and Suarez either side of Carroll should work well too as Tottenhams full backs are a soft spot for them. Hopefully Friedel won't have the game of his life against us.

Yeah, actually I agree with you, Henderson in place of Adam. Both he and Downing really need to step up their game to get back into the side.

If he'd of been here 3/4 years ago he'd o been hounded like henderson Lucas downing and Carroll. Can just see some of the posts!!lol

Hello fellows REDS, I found this over the internet it makes very interested read!!

"Man United fan charged with racist abuse
When a Liverpool supporter was arrested for alleged racist comments towards Oldham defender Tom Adeyemi it prompted front page newspaper headlines across the UK.
However, a Manchester United fan has been charged for shouting racist abuse at Stoke players during a Premier League game and thus far is has hardly been reported in the British press.
Howard Hobson of Manchester is accused of a racially aggravated public order offence and using threatening words or behavior to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
The 57-year-old fan was arrested at Old Trafford on Tuesday after a spectator who heard the comments complained to stewards. Hobson is to appear at Trafford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
So, more hypocrisy from the British media, just as was their reporting of the respective John Terry and Luis Suarez cases. We await The Daily Mail et al. to give this the same coverage as with recent events involving Liverpool.

Statistics for arrests for racist chanting since 2008-09:
Bolton – 7
Spurs – 7
Blackburn – 6
Aston Villa, Stoke, Man United – 5
Chelsea -4
Sunderland, Liverpool, Everton – 1
Fulham, Man City – 0"

abbs

We just need to look out for Liverpool and fu*k the rest there always going to be out for us

It's a dog-fight between us, sunderland & everton to stay up. On current form, we'll be pushing for a european place by the end of the year though - any more idiots fancy doing a monkey dance this weekend, that should do it?

On the Hazard situation, if we finish 4th that puts chelsea and arsenal out of the running (to sign him) and since he's said he want's to go to the premiership that would leave us and the 2 mancs, man u are nailed on to sign sneijder that leaves us and city, he also said he wants to play every week and with city having silva and nasri means he would'nt be guaranteed a starting place so that means he's coming to Liverpool FC does'nt it. Ed's?

Dont forget he also said that he prefers a club with history, meaning that Liverpool, Man U, and Arsenal is the way to go. With us beaing favrits in this senario.

The Rob.

Hazard will only use LFC as a stepping stone to either one of the spanish big two and you guys better believe that. He ain't interested in LFC unless only as a stop gap and last resort.

BooDaBooze

Ifs and buts. Unlikely he would come to LFC imo unless he has a passion for the club and some integrity. Man C or someone will offer him 150k-200k a week and that will make his decision (or does he have a YNWA tattoo?) Don't get me wrong I'd love to see players of his ilk at our club but money is talking louder and louder these days especially to foreign players who see the PL as a mega-payday.

cozinoz

Personally, I can't really quite figure out the Hazard worship. He's a good player certainly, but I guess maybe I'm not understanding all of the enthusiasm to sign him? I've admittedly only watched a handful of Lille games, but to me it isn't like he absolutely dominates the game or anything. Maybe I just watched the wrong ones?

I'd rather not have Hazard, great player, but I don't see the need to splash out on loads of players. I can't see us spending much in the Summer even if we get Top four. Kenny obviously has faith in the squad and he hasn't bought players younger than 25 just for one season. I trust his judgement and I would be surprised to see more the 2 first team players come in. Now our team is gelling then there's no stopping us, we've been unlucky with finding the goals this season and losing one of our best players for 8 games. I think with our current squad + a few additions to the subs bench and a right winger, we could challenge City for the title.

Hazard is playing in a league where even Joe Cole looks like a good player. I think he still has a lot to prove in particular if he can make it in the premiereship. Liverpool don't need a player of his hype.

Why is everyone onnabout the sale of Johnson bar Suarez and Gerrard he's been Liverpool's best player; and England's right back.

Enrique... Bellamy??

LFC4LIFE

Aaaand Lucas, Skrtel And Agger?

Come to think of it, Johnson's not that good is he? Lol

AG

Agger....Skrtl?

Agger,Skyrtel...

Think it's a hard one, Enrique, bellers, the two centre backs have been immense accross the season. And Suarez bk is like a new signing.

Realistic red

Kelly is a better rightback imo.

Saying he's England's right back is no endorsement.

Carra was in the top 5 centerbacks in europe in 2005, but was 5th in line behind Terry, Ferdinand, King and Woodgate for England.

Shmickles

Like Richards not even being considered for England, apart from Johnson obviously more experienced, I think he's our next best alternative. Richards>Kelly(Atm)>Smalling>Walker
Really can't stand Walker as he isn't even good but somehow sneaks his way into the team.

I think Johnson is the sort of player we need to keep if were are going to challenge for the premiereship any time soon. I think he is a better wing back than Kelly but possible a worse defender. He is a useful player, has cleared the ball of the line countless times for Liverpool and scored a crucial winner against Chelsea if you remember. Also set up bellamy with clear one-two for goal against man city. I would not get rid of him so quicky for a mere 6-7million at the end of the season.

Put this on the Manc page, just to let them know. We all have idiotic fans.

" Howard Hobson of Manchester is accused of a racially aggravated public order offence and using threatening words or behavior to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Blair,
There are people like this all over the country. That is what is truly sad mate.
The Real KB

It's really sad KB mate but our incidents seem to be highlighted more. Which dosn't suprise me mate, considering the lengths the media will go to, to discredit our great club. But always seem to give others an easier time. What the media don't understand or don't give a f*ck. It's things like this that make us stronger and brings us together as one, like all families do.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Agree with you Blair, I've hated the entire media for how they portray Liverpool. I don't see how it is advantageous to them to slander the second largest fan base in the U.K. They've chosen their sides and I hope when they come crawling back to us after we a champions again that we turn them away. I'm still thinking the S*n should be shut down for phone hacking as well as the countless lies over the years. It's a disgrace and ruins our country.

03 Feb 2012 18:51:04
Not that the King is doing anything wrong, but has anybody else wondered who are next manager may be?? For me it has to be Jamie Carragher, after a few years of Kenny schooling him. Discuss...............!

I'd like to see Steve Clarke in charge after Kenny goes. I think he could be a good manager for anyone. That's if he wants to try his hand at management, or just be a coach. If not him, I like Michael Laurdrup. He's young, plays good attractive football and is an LFC fan.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Return of Rafa.

Carra with Thommo as assistant.Aldo run reserves,Stevie overseeing Charlton esque role

Jürgen Klopp from Dortmund together with The Kaizer

I was reading a article on bleacher reports the other day about this i think the best 3 candidates were joachim low michael laurdrup and pep guardiola although i do like what brendan rogers is doing at swansea
giblet

Rodolfo Borrel anyone?

dmedly

Mourinho was asked before kenny to be full time manager, he didnt join this year cause he wanted to win the league with RM. If he does this year he'll leave for L'pool, one of his requirements to join was that Clarke was appointed as coach before he came...
Red Mist

The king's successor? Only Guardiola would do. Don't want any other manager.

BooDaBooze

I undersatnd the shout for Michael Laudrup, but I would like to see theway we done it in the past. Promote from within and keep the good work progressing. Steve Clarke should get his chance if he wants it then promote JAmie to the coaching staff and see how he does. Its all about keeping it the Liverpool way and keeps the continuity going of the project that Kenny has started. I also can't believe we haven't tried to get Roy Evans back in some way.

Gazza

Not being funny, Carragher is a genuinely noce bloke but I don't believe for one minute he has the necessary inteligence or intellect to be a manager in a top Prem club. Nor Gerrard. Really, I can't think of anyone other than Reina or Marcus Babbel or Hamann. Brainey footballers with intellect and leadership are pretty rare. RED LENIN

I've always liked the look of Karl Robinson of mk dons. You never know where he could be in a few years!

If not, got to be Steve Clarke for me.

Stu

It has to be pep guardiola. Best manager in the world imo, plus he wants a club with a good youth academy, wud be a perfect fit.
Indian Buzzer

What about brendan rogers, swansea play some great attractive football.
paul d

Red Lenin I disagree mate, just coz carra is scousers don't write off his intelligence, I'm willing to say out of all the players at Liverpool he is the one that has the best footballing brain and understands the game far more than any of the others. His ability to read the game is one of the reasons he was first on the team sheet for so many years. He also loves the club with a passion which I think is a desirable trait in a manager, promote from within and all that. There are very few current players in any team in the world that I would trust to be a future Liverpool manager, Jamie carragher

That last post was supposed to end by saying "Jamie carragher would be top of my list" but my iPhone cut me off.

Ashy

I reckon Carragher will become manager of a team like Hull or Wolves, I can see him taking those teams far. While he is a great servant and a legend for his commitment, I don't think he's capable of keeping us playing Kenny's style. Whilst Pep guardiola is a decent manager, I don't want him to be ours. Also forgetting he's gonna have to wait 10+ years for the job as the King ain't going nowhere.

Ashy, that is an appalling conclusion to reach - that I think Carragher lacks the intelligence because he is a scouser and says an awful lot about you in actual fact. I think he lacks the intelligence full stop. Having a keen football brain is only a part of what is required to be the manager of a top club and I do not think he possesses the other qualities at a sufficiently high enough level. Think on - most of the Premiership's current managers are not of a high enough quality to manage the likes of us, Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea or City. RED LENIN

Didier Hamman

Hamann is one of the ones I named above along with Reina and Marcus Babbel.

03 Feb 2012 18:39:37
chritian eriksen would be a better buy than hazard, but if we do go for hazard i would have to see joe cole as a makeweight. as we need at least 2 strikers in the summer
luuk de jong, maybe cavani but alo lavezzi and soldado

I know its a banyer page, but does anyone else feel its a bit inappropriate?

03 Feb 2012 18:25:14
sorry guys but not liverpool chelsea or arsenal will take the 4th place..............

it will be NEWCASTLE...................very shrewd transfer with buying cisse

now they have ba cisse ameobi or best..............4 strikers who are all scoring

i just think newcastle firepower upfront will be the difference till the end of the season

You may have a point.

Ozone

Mate, you're so right. Ameobi (made me laugh, this name did) and Cisse (yet unproven in the Prem, btw) are soooo much better to have than let's say Prem-proven Kuyt (who's found his scoring boots), Carroll (One of your best players last year?), Bellamy....

I guess the schools in Newcastle aren't as good as they used to be..

McSnuggles

Furthermore, beyond Cabaye and that little feller Ben Arfa, what kind of attacking options are coming from midfield? And your defense? Second best defense in the prem still I believe, with Gerrard back to full health and Spearing playing well, everything about Liverpool is better than Newcastle. Great gadzooks, I wish people had brains sometimes!

McSnuggles

My mate is a newcastle fan he was praying that senegal got knocked out of the acon due to the fact that best and ameobi are not good goal scorers now that cisse and ba are back they may well do well they may also be tired from the travelling theres also the chance cisse may take time to adapt newcastle will not finish fourth there defense will let them down they are doing well but not good enough for fourth you should have left your name so at the end of the season we can see who's right
my two cents

Ha ha ha ha.do you want to bet on that?£50 says Newcastle don't get 4th spot.i'l send my name address and anything else you require to the eds if you want your call king luis

I wouldnt worry Demba Ba's leg will fall off soon......

In all seriosness though regardless we have to play well for the spot but they will drop points and if we dont capitalise we have ourselves to blame.

PDUK

Its not a given yous will get there, when you start beating the crap teams then a might change me mind. also newcastle 5th top at mo,and only got promoted back into prem lge last season. excellent achivement

The same demba yous were wanting your club to sign, short memories!!

03 Feb 2012 17:05:35
Ive just seen on the liverpool website that Andy Carroll got voted MOTM. What the f***? He is absolutely shocking; him on a good day doesn't deserve to play in the premier league never mind on a bad day. Think we should stop hoping and face reality. He is bot good enough to help liverpool progress but instead bring us down a peg. Sick an tired of waiting for him to do something. He cant even control the ball so how will he score us 15 goals in a season? And if he cant score us 15 goals ge aunt good enough.

Andz

Anders

I'll tell you one thing fella, he's better than your spelling!

Jack the groove

Did you actually watch the game did you see a rather amazing improvement to Carrol did you see how hard he worked on the pitch and in training...You sir are a fool Carrol,Suarez and Gerrard will form an amazing Partnership...But for you to say he is shocking just shows how ridiculous your comments are.

MJ

Get a life and support a player who deserved to be voted man of the match for that game. He's played the target man effectively in the last couple of games which has created chances for both Bellamy and Kuyt. Chances that were converted to goals, that were necessary for our wins over both Manchester clubs and Wolves. He also scored the first goal against Wolves. If you can't support the players who play for the club, whats the point supporting the club?

KennyD JFT96

Redturk is that you in disguise?

King luis

Hey andz anders didnt u actually watch the game? Ive critised andy carroll all season but he made me eat my words last few games hes made a dramatic improvement so he deserved to get the MOTM! So get ur head from up ur ass n take pride in the team u support get behind the lads in the next few games.

ACHILLES.

Do you even watch football?

PDUK

What are u on about, we saw the real Andy Caroll on tuesday.Lucky 4 Wolves Liverpool went easy on them.

He got man of the match because he played well maybe not the best player on the pitch but not far off have you thought he might have got the man of the match due to the fact the fans want to get behind him and give him some confidence and he's showing signs of improvement every game he has only started 11 league games and got 3 goals thats not fantastic but for most of those games he was low on confidence the last 2 he,s looking more like the player we bought not there yet but getting there and i think your deluded if you think andy carroll cant get 15 goals a year he had 12 for newcastle in 17 games before we bought him if he can get back to that form he can be a very important player for us
my two cents

Carroll is improving rapidly. In the last match he was winning balls and putting them into scoring areas for other people as well as bagging one himself and nearly bagging another. He was a major headache for their defenders and he threw his weight around giving them a real bruising. RED LENIN

Last 3 starts, 2 assists, 1 goal and hit the woodwork I think. I'd take that as a ratio for a target man throughout the season, most definitely. Andy Carroll, Liverpool's number 9. Get used to it.

Rugby Parker

I've harshly criticised Carroll all season but there has been an improvement the last couple of games and he did play well against Wolves. I'm starting to come round to the fact that he is becoming useful as the lone striker when we need to fill the midfield. If he develops his control and pass and move concept I think he could become a decent player.

Ozone

There could of been 3 players p for man of the match , andy carrol just shaved it for me , carrol has not been getting played regulary , he is now and any football fan knows players get better the more they play , as in carrol , well done andy carrol , like lucas you will change minds

Same view as own Ozone, but credit where due,as youve said

spearing is better than mascherano and should start every game.He makes Charlie adam look like zidane.

They both make stupid aggresive tackles that dont need to be made

Ha ha ha

Qwerty

Spearing doesn't make "stupid" tackles. Spearing is a fighter and should keep doing what he is doing. He is an amazing central midfielder and amazing cover for Lucas.

So flying in with studs up is not stupid...ok then mate and its all well and good that he is a fighter but that still doesnt forgive the STUPID tackles, I am not saying he is a bad player he is good his attack is good but his defence needs a little bit of work his only major fault is the aggression of his tackles

I agree Charlie Adams tackling isn't so good but spearing has made some phenomenal tackles!

Ashy

On recent form, it's definitely got to be Spearing ahead of Adam in games like the Spurs game. Against lower-league teams, I think you need to play Adam as he has a better passing game. I do believe, however, that Spearing deserves a run in the team, he's played really well every time he's had the opportunity this and 2nd half of last season, dodgy red card against Fulham not withstanding.

Rugby Parker

Spearing? Studs up? Even on his red against Fulham it was just horrific refereeing, a lot like Rodwell against us.

McSnuggles

Spot on about the Spearing tackles. They will cost us again - mark my words.

Hey ed, with tottenham pulling out of the nemxtgen series, will liverpool go into the semis?
Indian Buzzer {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Wud be a gr8 experience for them to play against la masia.

Ajax kids are supposed to be pretty good. They're always strong at youth level.
So it may be them.
Are the semi's two legs ed002 please ?

I just hope Kenny does not drop Kuyt. Kuyt is a class player and he needs to play to keep in form. Awhile ago he was left on the bench for some time and people were moaning that he lost pace. Now that he is back he finds the net as well as the others. The same goes for Carol. I thing Kenny should start with Luis and Kuyt and at half time employ Bellamy and Carol. This way two pairs of fresh legs can cause a lot of panic at the Spurs deference.

2 subs at half time seems unlikly
Shanio1

I agree id rather see bellamy lf, Carroll cf, suarez rf and gerrard Henderson and Adam in the middle.

Leave Suarez out for this one. It's not a great game to play 2 up front and there's no reason to drop Carroll right now.

I wonder who will be dropped for Suarez.
Or if Suarez will start at all after being out a while.
He will make a great impact player after-all.
I look forward to a change in character in the man. I want to see all the hunger he shows without any of the crap and diving. Keep your head down luis and show us what you can do with a football.

MIKEY

I wud bring suarez after 60 mins. Their already tired backline(pretty carp btw) wud be taken for an unforgettable ride.
Indian Buzzer

Kuyt should be dropped for suarez i know he has scored 2 goals in 2 games but Suarez is faster more skilled and a better crosser than Kuyt

MJ

I personally hope that Suarez starts the match. This idea or bringing players on with 15 minutes to go is senseless. Play him from the kick-off and if he tires replace him - he's a fit young (uninjured) young man so he might even be able to play the full 90+ minutes.

Capello resigns
'arry gets england job
Mourinho takes spurs job
(they're almost at league winners level, prefect for 'the special one' to take an almost ready team to success )

So then we can assume he'll try take a couple of players with him, mainly strikers? And his lap dog carvalho.
So spurs will want to sell a few names on...
Maybe we'll pinch a few?
Use your common sense people...

I can only see Mourinho at one of 3 clubs, Chelsea, City or his preferred destination united. Just my opinion.

Mourinho will win the La Liga with Real Madrid, hence his quest for a title in Spain will come to an end, Villas-Boas won't get the CL spot with Chelsea, therefore he gets sacked and Mourinho takes over. Capello resigns after Euro '12, 'Arry takes over England. IMO Benitez will come to Spurs, I just have a feeling it'll all come into place.

RenegadeRed

Benitez would NEVER go to spurs.

^^ Good! We dont want him. Will take the best manager in Liverpool...David Moyes.

Hope morinho goes back to chelsea,
its not the same beating them without
him.

David Moyes is the next manager of manchester united. He's just biding his time at Everton - not being a great success but, most importantly for his ambitions, not being considered a failure either.

Ed do you know which player it was that ineligible to play for Spurs in their squad that played Liverpool? Massive respect to Spurs for pulling out. {Ed001's Note - nope sorry and hardly respect, it was pointed out they had an ineligible player so they pulled out to avoid punishment.}

From looking at the match report, it's possible that it was Jake Nicholson, July 19, 1992. He would have been 19 at the start of the tournament. He played in nearly all of their matches as well.

I don't beleive that we need a striker. We are in need of a player like Diego, Marin, Mcarthy or Maybe even N'Zogbia or Hernandez. A nice new centre mid in either Diarra or Khedria. And if we did get a new striker , Cavani or Van Persie. Wouldnt happen though. But YNWA YNWA YNWA YNWA...

Ed's if we do sell Johnson and end up with Isla and Martin Kelly, which one would play in your opinion? {Ed001's Note - that depends on them, they would be assessed before each game and then it would be decided.}

Play isla in 3-5-2, n kelly in 4-4-2. Very simple. isla is a wing back, n kelly is a right back. Plus isla can play as a cm as well.

Question for ed001 really,
u said u expect glen johnson to be off in the summer and we'v been tracking every half decent right back across europe. i just wondered if glen knows any of this himself? and if he does would you or more importantly the coaching staff and kenny not think this would effect his morale/effort and overal preformances? It just seems a bit harsh to actively seek a replacement and expect him to give his all if he knows his times up. dont get me wrong i think all players should give there all no matter what given the ridiculous wages they recieve for doing a job that most would do for nothing but the honour of wearing there teams colours! me included.
cheers eds
bulford-widnes ozy {Ed001's Note - surely, if he wants to play for us, he should try a bit harder to prove he deserves to stay? If not, then he has the wrong attitude for us, we need people who thrive under pressure not give up.}

Glen Johnson is a skilful and intelligent footballer. It's a great pity to me some our supporters don't have the intelligence to recognise class in a player. How times have changed we used to love skilful defenders at Liverpool. But then again people said for years Phil Neal wasn't a great defender? didn't do too bad though did he. Effort and huffing and puffing is no substitute for skill on a football pitch.

I agree with you kidmillions. It would be a shame to lose a good footballer. But if that clause is true that the ed said about, plus his wage, well...

Alot has been said about Liverpool re-entering the NextGen, the real positive that has come out from this is the professionalism shown by Tottenham.

There has been so much bad publicity over the years about the way football is managed on and off the field and because of certain individuals, the beautiful game has been stained with a un-honest reputation.

Tottenham for sure, have been one of those clubs who have done themselves no favours over the years. But to see a club show honesty, integrity to the rules of the competition and exit gracefully is a true testement to Tottenhams character. Using a ineligible player clearly was a mistake, and when Spurs realised that they had breached the rules of the competition, they acted fairly and did the right thing.

Maybe other clubs can take a page from their book in teh future, great to see some honesty back into the game.

Sam Adzii YNWA JFT96

Sam whilst i agree in the main around your post lets not get to carried away, Tottenham have done the right thing in the end but sooner or later they would have been found out and expelled anyway, by doing it this way they just dont look as bad, stupid yes, how in this day and age a club could make that kind of mistake in the first place is beyond me. Someone in the Spuds admin dept will be receiving a p45 very soon i can imagine......
Scouserjohnny

Yes Johnny, totally took that into consideration before i posted this. They would have been found out, they simply made a mistake and have avoided a fine by coming out and admitting it. Its the way they have gone about it which impresses me. The for once showed some dignity and that is the point i am trying to get at.

monday nights team selection is going to be very interesting. it would be silly to drop carroll just as hes starting to perform. suarez needs to start, after all, hes our star man. but the same role is applied to bellers now. so the question is, where do we play the three, what formation? i would consider putting johnson in the midfield? thoughts please lads?

Depends if Suarez has kept himself fit?

I'd agree that Carroll should start. Maybe Suarez on the bench.
I imagine that Liverpool will go 5 x in midfield.
The Real KB

4-2-3-1 Suarez un hole behind Carroll, bellars left , kuyt right, spearing and Gerrard middle, back 4: Enrique, aggerskrtel, Kelly.

Suarez should start from the bench. If we're struggling bring him on to run their defence ragged once it's been buffeted by AC for 60 minutes

Suarez should be fit enough to play, he would of been training with the squad even though he's banned I'm assuming.
Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

4-3-3.

-------------reina

johnson skrtel agger enrique

---gerrard---------spearing
----------henderson

----suarez-----------bellamy
------------carroll

a combination of our hardest working, fastest footballers to combat the pace of spurs on monday evening which will inevitably be needed. i also think every one of them is comfortable keeping the ball. would definitely pull charlie adam out for this game and bench him, don't think it'll suit him. harry redknapp made a point of hurrying charlie at white hart lane into mistakes.

Agree about keeping Charlie on the bench for this one. Intelligent formation, I would go with that one.

Good team

Carroll doesnt fit your hardworking or fastes player categories!

Yeh Adam got hammered at the lane!!

Decent team you've put there

RedSG

Replace Hendo with Kuyt.

I wouldnt wanna omit kuyt and adam from the lineup, they have shown some progress

Dalglish will use 5-4-1 formation vs spurs

Interchange henderson with gerrard

The only changes I'd make with your team are:

Kelly for Johnson: I think Kelly's a little better defensively and we'll need a big defensive performance against Bale.

Kuyt for Suarez: Kuyt will run tirelessly, is in good scoring form and doesn't deserve to be dropped. Suarez can always be brought on later on if we need him.

So my team would be:

Reina
Kelly-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Kuyt-Gerrard-Spearing-Henderson-Bellamy
Carroll

Red Ollie

I agree with OP, I think that's the best team to play. Would like to see Kelly instead of Johnson but not gonna happen, and depending on how Tottenham line up i'd possibly swap Stevie and Hendo, but I think they've pretty much nailed it.

Rugby Parker

Understandably kelly could get the nod for a lot of people and probably myself included as i was the original poster but johnson has been an integral part of a solid back five and i believe kenny will stick with it in the league games.

as for the person who said carroll doesn't fit the hardest working/fastest player category i suggested, i think you'll be surprised how much ground he does cover! no one mentions that he plays a lone striker role every game he starts and also is expected to defend every corner and set piece as well? some things go unnoticed by some fans (essentially the ones that are never happy and always moaning on here!)
give the lad a break, he's starting to look like what the club saw in him in a newcastle shirt!

Just wondering if anyone knows of any significance in Lucas being named in the squad for Feb to May?

If Kenny was 100% sure that he couldnt play again this season there'd be no point naming him, right?

So I'm guessing it could means he has an outside chance of making a return to full fitness before the end of the season?

It means he is of the belief he could make it back and he would like.to name him in case, even if he isnt back this season the chance is there and you only have this chance to register

There's no significance. We had 7 over 21 spaces to fill so it doesn't really make much difference.

Surely it's a conflict of interest for a manager to get paid a % to sell players. " right I'm a cockney wide boy I need a few quid I know what I'll sell my best player/players" That's not in the interest of your supporters or club and open to abuse... He is Funny in court though how could you make yourself sound anymore guilty!!!

Until Ian Holloway announced he received a cut of sales I didn't even know it was allowed... It's completely a conflict of interest and should not be allowed.... At least we know why Harry used to sign a player every other week... he must have loved the all year round transfers, I wonder how much he earned from Marco Boogers?

Been reading about Johnson leaving in summer, is that going to be abroad? I cant see him moving to another english club? I see it as being a season early at the minute, Kelly is quality at RB but he has had a fairly lengthy injury spell in each of the last two.seasons. Will he be our main RB or will we be targetting another? any light spread on this would be appreciated eds?

Anfield Andy {Ed009's Note - I would sell the player. We have been watching several replacements, including Isla, as alternatives.}

In summer, Kelly should be 1st choice, with Flanno 2nd choice. If we can get Isla, he should be at RM, but can fill in at RB if Kelly is out of form. Or if we play 3-5-2, we can play Isla as a wingback and Kelly as one of the 3 CB's.
Also would like to see Kelly at RB and Isla at RM, and then they can switch positions back and forth during games together. If Kelly and Isla are on top form, Flanno can be loaned out. If not, Flanno can cover, he will be excellent in the future.
Buying just another RB solely will stop Kelly and Flanno progressing, the Utility man in Isla is the best choice as he's adaptable and quality.
RedChrist

For me it really depends on what position the club see Martin Kelly playing.

If we see him as a right-back, I can see Johnson being moved on this summer.

If we see him as a centre-back, I think Johnson would stay.

RedSG

I think selling Johnson and buying Isla would be the most intelligent move we could possibly make this summer. Isla, in my opinion, is a top top player, and would fill 2 positions in the team, RM and RB if Kelly is injured/out of favour. Isla to replace Johnson is my top transfer wish for the summer, really hope Isla would be interested in the move and KK makes it happen.

Hi eds, I question for yourselves. What is the situation regarding europe? Meaning, if we win the carling cup and finish 4th in the league would Cardiff get the Europa cup place? Also, if we was to win the carling cup but finish outside the top 4 in the league would there be an extra Europa cup place for the premier league or 1 less place?

Thank you for all your hard work and time.

K.Bennett {Ed009's Note - If we win the cup but gain a top four berth, Cardiff will take the place in the Europa League. If we win the Carling Cup but don't make the top four, then we will gain a Europa League spot at the expense of the 7th placed team.}

19 man squad named for remainder of this season by KK. ( lowest in EPL ).
LIVERPOOL: Brad Jones, Glen Johnson, Jose Enrique, Daniel Agger, Fabio Aurelio, Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, Andy Carroll, Maxi Rodriguez, Dirk Kuyt, Stewart Downing, Jay Spearing, Jamie Carragher, Jose Reina, Charlie Adam, Alexander Doni, Martin Skrtel, Lucas Leiva, Craig Bellamy.

If a club chooses fewer than 25 players for their squad it is almost certainly due to them having a large number of Under-21 players. Clubs with fewer than 25 players in their squad are still permitted to sign free agents.

looks like youngsters will be getting more chances shelvey, kelly etc etc.

PIDDY

Only 6 homegrown players in the list of 19, means they'd need to leave spaces to fill the quota. Not that i expect any free agents to sign before the end of the season.

There are 8 home grown players on that list.

Hello Ed002,
no time to speculate about transfers in the summer. It all depends on the position in the table at the end of the season. We shall see if KK will stay - hope he will. But right now, CL is not that far away and still very much possible. Would be great, esp if one or two cups will be won. Spurs can easily win the title but just as easy they can lose 3rd to us. Hope LFC can beat them on Monday. A very important game, as the one with United. We shall keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. Greetings from Poland.

Hopefully :) its about time we destroy spurs and finish them off.

There is a reason that Redknapp and Mandaric have not so much as flapped or batted an eyelid in their trial, and thats because the best money buys the best lawyers and the best lawyers get you off with a fine, Tottenham know ths and that is why he still has a job, they would not have kept him or allowed to make transfers last week if there was a possibility that he was going to prison time. I can see repayment of the squandered tax with a large fine.

Morning all,
Ticket allocations :
If anyone has been to or seen the recent cup matches, the atmosphere at Anfield has been brilliant.
Yes they're big occasions, but it's also partly due to the strong away support in the ground.
A vocal away contingent prompts the Liverpool crowd to respond.

I, personally, would like to see a good allocation given to away fans. At all grounds, even ours.
Or a pro-rata allocation depending on the likelihood of filling the away end. So clubs like Utd, City, Spurs, Arsenal, Everton, Chelsea etc would all get a good allocation.
Why not give such clubs' fans the entire lower Anfield Road end, like City got in the CC ?
Any LFC season ticket holders in that section would get guaranteed seats for upper, or elsewhere.

I think a rip-roaring English football match, with proper vocal support for both teams, is fantastic.
If they can do it for cup games, they should be able to do it for league matches as well. As a fan, you come away from the ground afterwards hoarse.
Feeling like you've done your part, and enjoyed and gotten in to the whole experience.
Not sitting there in broodful, frustrated silence or filming the game on your new Samsung phone, and coming out of the ground moaning your head off.
So there ! Lol.
The Real KB

KB, whilst I completely agree about the atmospheric side of the ticket allocation, whilst there are only 46,000 seats available at home games as it is and it being so hard to get tickets, not sure giving more to away fans is the solution, did like your idea around based maybe on previous years and clubs ability to sell the amount of tickets, just feel that the extra allocation could be best served by giving some to school kids or youth clubs, local charities, local good causes etc, i.e people who wouldnt normally have the opporunity to watch the reds.
Ideally wed have a 60 - 70,000 seater stadium which would allow for more away fans but not at the expense of the home fans.
Scouserjohnny

That is very true Scouserjohnny.
There are, however, a few thousand tickets that end up in the hands of ticket agencies. How, I don't know. Presumably via organised groups of touts. These ticket agencies charge a fortune for them mate.
That is what the club should try and stop, if at all possible.
As regards the players, and their performances, I think that they thrive more in a charged atmosphere. To me, an integral part of the match is the atmosphere. Makes or breaks it, really.
The Real KB

Morning eds with terry being stripped of the role as england captain would that mean the most likely captain will be stevie g? CRAIG {Ed001's Note - no idea and really don't care sorry, I have no interest in England whatsoever.}

Agree with Ed001, hope Stevie G gives up

Think he deserves to join the hundred cap club regardless of what people think about England.

Normally, I'd agree with Ed001. I'm simply not ar$ed about England any other time. However, on this occasion, if Stevie does go and captain's the team, which in all likelihood is what will happen, I'd like them to win it. Purely just for Gerrard, f*ck all to do with England. Jordan Henderson not in ? Mr.Jones {Ed009's Note - He counts as an under 21 player.}

My bad lol ! Mr.Jones

Henderson, Shelvey, Kelly, Flannagan, Coates, Robinson are all under 21 and therefore not included in that list

On LFC official website they always ask for a playlist before each game and at halftime.3 before game,2 at halftime. We should all request-Money money money,Taxman,Dont pay the Ferryman. Then H/t-theme from"Minder",then Money for nothing. If time"Rabbit"by Chas and Dave

How about, Tell me lies

That's genius.
at the very least we have to get taxman on, shouldn't even be too hard

My lineup for Tottenham

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Kuyt Gerrard Adam Bellamy
Suarez Carroll

Spearing in for adam...

not trying to be pessimistic but bale is in a great run of form. do you think johnson will handle him? i wish enrique was on the same side as him because he would have him tucked in his pocket the whole game..

Why do you want us to lose? We would get absolutely murdered through the middle.

DownUnderRed.

Spearing has to start otherwise midfield will get ripped apart

The Dark Knight

I think kelly would put manners on him.
k-h

Got a feeling we'd get killed in midfield with a 442, especially without spearing.
What about:

Usual Back Four

Spearing
Gerrard Henderson

Suarez Bellamy
Carroll

?
Or do you think kuyt should be in there somewhere?

x {Ed009's Note - I would probably start with a 4-2-3-1, similar to recent matches, with Bellamy, Suarez, Gerrard playing (from left to right) behind Carroll.}

Just been reading Martin Samuels latest piece of " journalism " regarding the John Terry trial, here is a man who certainly seems to have changed his tune, while I agree with his comment about innocent until proven guilty he did mention something about due process in a proper court of law before a mans reputation is ruined he didnt think that Suarez should have been given the same privliege. He also has a pop at Jason Roberts for giving his opinion, dont remember him leaping to Suarez's defence when everyone was coming out of the woodwork to attack him. Double standards anyone??

It had been the source of huge irritation for me over the past few months. The disparity in the way these two incidents have been discussed by the media ( and thus the lemmings who follow it) has been huge.

I'm too tired to compose a long message, and also for this next line I feel a quick concise message will deliver the impact clearly, without room for misinterpretation.

...The way these cases have been handled is a fundamental example of how this industry harbours the most definite xenophobic agenda seen outside ethnic cleansing. I just hope that those that question Rafa all the time slowly get a picture of what he was up against in this country.

Please don't use Mourinho as an example to fight back, the man was lusted over by the media. A man crush if you will. Disgusting.

D-Day (1892)

Terry's position is untenable. In any other profession, someone with such a charge being levied at them would be asked to stand down or be suspended. If he is proved innocent then fine, he can come back. However, the Captain should put the best interests of England first and do the honourable thing.

Great post...is there any where we can post this comment so Martin can see it?

Banana Bender

Terry should be replaced in the squad by Chris Huhne - wait a minute - breaking news - cancel that!

And that tunnel vision ,bias, blinkered, clown of journo-fiona phillips constantly defends him

Hi ed, is the world gonna end this year? And what do you think the chances of carragher becoming the next LFC manager are?

If the world ends this year then reckon Cara chances will be extremely low.

Carras knowledge of game, honesty, and forthrightness are superb.Surely key qualities for a start

just a quick note to say that i would not be surprised to see kd take a few of the young lads from the net gen series in to the match day squad. very unlucky to go out against spurs. i know morgan only on a few minutes but jesus he created himself a few chances and sterling has some pace

Probably more chance they might go on loan now?

dmedly

Ngoo lost the game with his failure to convert two good chances - should have been all over by half-time

Apparently we are back in by default.
Not the way i'd like to win and no doubt spurs'll will go on about it but a good opportunity to continue building experience against different opponents, and it sounds like we deserved it on the night anyway from what you guys have said
