Did anyone else not laugh when the City fans were singing "what a waste of money" to Andy Carroll ?
The same City that have blown about £400 million over the past 3 or 4 seasons on strikers alone !
I'm telling you man. Lol.
The Real KB

Ye they really have blown money, there doing bad in the league arn't they

watched the match and thought the subs were spot on and the tactics were good but some people in the team were poor . I genuinely think Kuyt is not his old self and we should look at selling him now in jan if possible he has become very cumbersome and slow. We need fresh blood someone like Frei in fulham that sort of thing a silva like player. I think Johnson again was poor he does not seem to think two steps ahead which he should do, he tends to dose off. Really I was not expecting us to beat mancity, yes a missed cahance but you have to be realistic.
KK had everything planned correctly, I think little tweaking and we will be up there solidly in fourth.
The decision to not appeal was very wise ,let Suarez and most importantly the club and owners and fans move on, time can heal many things, and let's take things one at a time.
At least we were beat by a good team and not blackburn.

In my opinion we still have a few glaring holes in this team which we need to address.
1. Need a striker - Soldado, De Jong have been rumoured - would one of those be the answer?
2. We have missed Lucas badly since his injury and have struggled in the middle of the park. For my money Kevin Strootman would be a good buy. Good in the tackle and good vision .
3. We could really use an attacking midfielder/winger in the shaquiri, marin, goetze mould but its unlikely that sort of player would be available in this window.
4. We need to be able to put our best 11 on the field. For this reason if Glen Johnson's contract cannot be renegotiated then I would like to see him moved on should a suitable offer come in.
5. If a repacement can be found then I would be inclined to move Kuyt on before his value drops further.

Thoughts?

Glen Johnson has got a waist on him that suggests he's been eating Thorntons Chocolates for his breakfast for the past two weeks.
And I should know !

KK has to sort his transfers out, were paying over the odds for average players, first downing is totally one footed and has no skill to beat a man! Second Carroll is expected to play up top by himself with no help and score, then were playing a system where were launching balls into the box to Carroll expecting him to win headers with no one else within ten yards of him! We need a proven goalscorer and a proper winger who can beat a man and even chip in with a couple goals

Chris {Ed001's Note - Downing is repeatedly beating his man, it is his crossing and shooting which has been poor.}

Bit like Walcott then. Really want and feel
Downing can do better. The only thing is, i can't recall him ever doing much better. In any shirt. Sometimes good but never brilliant. Certainly never for a prolonged time.

D-Day (1892)

Carroll proved his worth. More than once he won the header and knocked it down to a fellow team mate. Red Lenin

Eds correct,Downing beat man often with ease, then crossing poor,Yet seems to be excellent for v England-odd?

I give up with some people. I know it's an open forum, and everyone can have their say.
But what's going on ?
Liverpool were the better side there.
The two mistakes and early goals changed the dynamic of the game, doesn't matter who you are when you're trying to chase a result.
That's how United & Spurs got done by City remember ?

Liverpool's midfield was on top. Adam get's his foot in, Henderson is a lovely player and is gonna be a real un.

Don't start on Andy Carroll either cos he's living of virtually no meaningful service. Somebody should tell both full backs and Stewart Downing to put the **** ball in the space between the penalty spot and six yard area. But AC played well, worked hard and was twice as good as Dzeko at the other end.

Two bad mistakes and a breakaway pen.
Johnson is overweight and shocking at the minute though. Downing is filling in at RW, hopefully we can get someone in there. And a bit of pace upfront.

But we're 80% there.
What's wrong with you lot ?
The Real KB

I agree KB, there is not a lot wrong. We finally play like a team. What we lack is quality in the positions that really separate from title challengers and European places. Goal scorer, flair filled winger. We have possession. When you have that and repeatedly give the ball to a goal scorer or ask a flair filled player to create you get 3 points. We are 80% there.

Agree on all,but didnt The great Kb previously say we didnt need a Striker??

No one is on par with Lionel Messi apart from Messi himself, so either I have missed something or whats your point?

No but Enrique thinks he is messi

So Ed001 who did you keep your eye on in this game, and how do you rate his performance?

Unfortunately I had one eye on Johnson after your observations in the last game, and it didn't make for pretty watching!

dmedly {Ed001's Note - I was watching Kuyt, I wish I hadn't though, he was awful. To the point where I had to stop watching and start editing or break something! I think from now on I am only going to sit and watch one of our players on a repeat, because I am beginning to think I am a jinx!}

I was watching Henderson, and man is he going to become a player. Still only 21 I believe, played well first half but there is evidence of a top player.

In the post match interview KD said in his own words "We must be more clinical in front of goal and learn from this"

20 games into the season and the team don't seem to be listening to these wise words. It's always the same story dominate possession without the killer finishing..

Suarez now banned for another 7 games..
Carroll totally out of confidence..
Kuyt without a premiership goal all season..
Bellamy (good form) but unable to play match after match..

What's the answer fellow reds, do we try and use young Morgan from the reserves (is he ready)? / or do we go out and buy 2 decent finishers like Podolski or De Young..?
It's obvious we need someone to fill Suarez's boots or we can forget a CL place...

The Grand wizard...

Gerrard is back...which, for me, adds a new dimension to our game.
Have him and Hendo interchanging on the right, Downing/Bellamy LW, Adam & Spearing in midfield and Carroll will soon fire up!

Know need to buy anyone.

dmedly

I may be wrong but didnt dirk score a hatrick againt scumchester,

I want morgan to get run out on Friday but we still have to purchase during this window in my opinion

I think we need to get a striker in this window, especially now suarez is banned.

03 Jan 2012 23:20:56
You need to get rid if downing. He had the ball out wide so many times in that second half and every time he just passed it back to Johnson or spearing. He had Carroll to aim for in the box and on the two crosses he did put in he floated it in to the first man. He didn't attempt to to beat clichy once and his games without a goal or an assist tally is growing. I know that he's never scored that many goals and that can be fine as a winger but he just annoys me how every time he got it on the right he cut back, saw Carroll at the far post, looked like he was going to cross it and then passed it backwards. I just think Liverpool would have been better off investing their money in Michael carrick if they wanted someone who could kill the tempo and pass a ball sideways.

Joe (arsenal fan btw)

Haha, you may have had half a point there until that last sentence.

It's true, the attack seems to die on Downing's boot.

Doni Kelly carragher Coates Enrique shelvey Henderson spearing Adam Carroll Bellamy team against oldham my prediction

To soon mate, too soon!

dmedly

Bellamy won't start and don't yer think that Enrique deserves a rest? Robinson will come in or even Aurelio! Can seeing Downing playing, with a view to him scoring his first goal and so getting him going, maybe even an assist or two as well.

Keith

Doni
Kelly, Carragher, Coates. Flanno,
Spearing, Henderson, Shelvey, Sterling
Morgan, Carroll

What hope for against oldham

Carroll to start for confidence...also Doni, Flannagan, Kelly, Coates, Robinson, Spearing, Gerrard, Shelvey, Bellamy and Kuuyt.
This is Oldham Athletic not Barcelona!

What does everyone think about Darren Bent?
Would you sign him, and if so, how much would you be willing to pay? {Ed001's Note - no and nothing.}

No, just no. That is all.

03 Jan 2012 23:15:18
For 20years I have wanted the title and for near as long I have dreamnt that Kenny would return to manage us. In Kennys book he says Roy failed cos his signings didnt deliver,we are nearly at the point that Kennys are looking just as ineffectual.

The idea to buy young and British to assure players settle quicker has been a terrible own goal, we have paid way over the odds for players who are not offering any new outlet.

The purchase of Andy Carroll has to rank high as one of footballs most insane decisions.

At times we play better football but we lack the standout talents to deliver. We have missed the boat yet again, City Utd Chelsea are not world class we can bridge the gap but if we continue to buy players like we did last summer we will not solve our obvious problems.

Kenny is a legend always will be, but nobody at the club can escape or defer scutiny or responsibility.

We will not play Champions League next year,so i dont know given the owners own comments on that prospect where we go from here.

Dont Buy The Sun

You should change your name to Don't Read My Posts, cos you talk tatie hash mate.
The Real KB

How do you know we won't play CL next season?

We just lost to the team that may win the title, still got half the season to go and we're only 3 points off the top four. As far as I'm concerned we've only had two bad games this season, (Swansea & Tottenham) the rest we should've, could've and would've won on another day.
Chelsea and Arsenal are hardly guaranteed fourth place at the moment, only surprise for me is how well Spurs are playing!

dmedly

I can't believe that you just compared the results Kenny has gotten versus the one's Hodgson did.... REALLY MAN!?

I forgot that Kenny had us battling with relegation candidates in the table

Wait....

03 Jan 2012 23:07:09
It's clear to see where our faults lie and that is, we need a clinical finisher in the Robbie Fowler mould and a better back up to Lucas! Lucas gives the team confidence to go forward, stop worrying about what's happening behind and right now, Spearing isn't doing that in the big games!

Keith

03 Jan 2012 23:08:31
Charlie Adam is awful that is all

I think the own goal and missed penalty somewhat took away from his confidence besides the fact that without Lucas is much harder on him in the middle of the park, come on Charlie YNWA!!!

am so sorry to break alot of fans heart, tossing or passing the ball around or having 90% of the possession does not translate to playing well. city controlled the match from the moment they scored to the end. they allowed lfc to pass it around knowing fully well that we lfc had only one game plan which is toss/float it in the air to carroll. city 10 men looked more dangerous than lfc 11 men. i feel sorry for carroll, he was brought to lfc to be ridicule. he should have stay in newcastle. a team looking for top four slot can not afford to have 2 average players on the pitch at the same time but lfc put up 4 average players in a match against a quality side. i shake my head. lfc is very dear to me but as it is now, i dont know what to feel about this team. finally, lfc needs to move ahead instead of looking back. we dont need
relic.....nuff said. happy nu year to u all

Nigerian Fan(tooblack) {Ed003's Note - Just think you are very close to the top 4 and might have been beaten tonight by the prem champs this year,bad night at the office and move on}

How many bad day at the offices do we need before people realise that its because we have signed poorly? Carrol is useless. He offers nothing up front. When we play with him there is no movement up front. He is not mobile enough. If we play with 2 up top that might b different but alone he hampers our play. Hendo has potential but not quite ready yet. Adam 3 bad games in a row (funny how hes played since stevie has been back). Spearing young, great at what he does but not world class. Downing.......when will he learn to shoot /score and cross, useless.
We need 2 strikers and a winger possibly a defensive midfielder. We dont have the money for all these from what I understand so what do we do? Start to bring on the youngsters I think. We have tried everything else.

Hi eds how was your new year? Do you know if we have any interest in Kerim Frei of Fulham? No doubt they would want top dollar for him but he has bags of potential surely fits in to our transfer policy. Thanks for your time.

Redman {Ed002's Note - There is no interest that we know of.}

Would love us to sign him! Thanks for the reply.

03 Jan 2012 23:00:33
Have we looked at Tranquillo Barnetta at all? Think his contract is up in the summer so wouldnt cost much.

Ive not seen too much of him other than the england match which he looks pretty impressive. Seems he could be a good squad player who could cover both wings. What do you think eds?

Loafmaster Flex {Ed001's Note - not good enough from what I have seen.}

03 Jan 2012 22:59:46
Is america the place to get a player on Loan. It would help the football club and Loaning in a Striker might be better than buying someone.

03 Jan 2012 22:55:47
If we dont buy a decent striker this month we wont finish in the top 4. No guile, creativity tonight.fair enough Citys defence was tight but we passed the ball sideways with nobody having the courage to give it a go. It isnt Carrolls fault, the only one who gives him good crosses is Gerrard. adam cant, neither can downing, Carroll needs pace to be put on the ball and they cant or wont do that, just loft it up and hope for the best. bring back carragher! we need somebody to liven up these players. thuis is liverpool after all!

03 Jan 2012 22:53:22
Just dont cut the mustard...Kuyt...like carragher, just carn't cope with the speed of the prem these days.
Downing..never ever has this player been outstanding,i dont no what managers see in him..(ENGLISH).
adam..To slow,no end product,alittle out his depth..
If liverpool fc want to move forward, kennys got to see what every other liverpool fan see's...average players dont belong here....

What managers see in Downing is reliability. Check how many matches he has missed over the last 3 years. Virtually none.

03 Jan 2012 22:52:51
Id like us to buy shane long at a decent price to play alongside carrol while suarez is out. He seems a natural goal scorer bit like fowler. What u guys recon. Dont think its any good playing carroll on his own. If money wasnt an issue obviously id like sum big name but i think long would be decent.

Lee {Ed001's Note - he is far from a natural goal scorer, he just works hard.}

03 Jan 2012 22:52:20
Carroll wasn't the problem tonight. None of your dream team/fantasy football/football manager superstars who we have to buy (especially Darren Bent), would have made an ounce of difference. Kompany would have had anyone in his pocket tonight and the midfield just didn't offer enough service or support. Christ even Clichy was good.

Adam and Kuyt are good players but perhaps need to spend a couple of games on the bench, as Adam especially looks knackered. Kuyt is a striker and should either play there or not at all.

We won't see the best of LFC now this season in the big ganes without Lucas, we lack any shape/structure in midfield without him. He's honestly brilliant and I miss his style of play. Personally a cup and top 6 would be realistic now. I'd love top 4 but it's a fairly big ask without Luis for 5 EPL games.

I can see why we need a striker, but personally I feel a right winger is so important right now. The right side is just so ponderous. I know the clause, which is probably why Johnson is so lax again but Kelly should be playing, at leadt he gives a shi* and a new winger would make a world of difference. Play Downing (if we must) on the left and stick with it, for a few games. Use Bellamy off the bench and play Gerrard off Carroll and goals will come!!

Papa G

Make that TOP 4!!!!

03 Jan 2012 22:45:12
So is Pepe Reina a sh*t goalkeeper now? If De Gea played that crap, you'd be swarming all over the United site, calling him the worst keeper ever. Will you do the same to Reina, I think not.

G.A.G.U.S

Mate, you're having a laugh aren't you ?
De Gea is a lightweight beanpole with no presence at all in his area. He needs about 2 stone of muscle on him.
The Real KB

I have actually always reassured my cousin (Utd fan), that De Gea was a terrific keeper, having followed him during Spains U21 success.

My opinion hasn't changed, nor will it about Reina!

I was waiting for the Andy Carroll bashers to throw their usually abuse as to why the game was lost. Whoever watched the match with an objective view would see that Andy Carroll's first touch today was surprisingly good and he did his best with what was given. The obvious stands and has stood for a while that we have no one who can supply a decent cross into the box except Gerrard. In addition to signing a forward I would go as far as saying we need to sign two wingers for each flank. I would also go as far as saying if Carroll was in another team who play with out and out wingers, providing quality balls AC would of scored a fair few or at the very least more than what he has scored so far. Thats not to say he cant help himself a bit more by working on his first touch and being more aggressive and imposing in the box but that comes with a run of games and confidence.

I find it funny how AC gets a lot of abuse as well as few others and Glen Johnson's below par performances have somehow gone unnoticed. Now before I continue thats not to say AC, Downing, Adam etc have played blinders and cant improve just Johnson for me offers nothing. Like Ed001 has been saying for a while his strong points are going forward yet in that area he has been poor and the less we say about his defending the better. I have heard and read about the contract clause he has, which leave Kenny in a position where he cant change the situation even if he wants to. Glen Johnson needs to be sold come summer for those obvious reasons and not to mention he is on very high wages that are not justified by his ability and performances.

Our line up lacked any creative spark and pace needed to break down and penetrate a team like Man City. I feel with the players at King Kenny's disposal he couldn't of done anything different, with Saurez serving a suspension and both Stevie G and Bellers unable to start the game due fitness reasons. I am upset like many LFC supporters are right now but with Man City being very strong at home this season, I believe we just lost to a better team.

LFC4LIFE

I think Andy has some of the best cheek bones in football

Someone said this before or perhaps it was you in this post. Johnson has been ruined by that Chelsea goal, before that he was willing and working harder in attack and defence (very rare). Now he's back being Billy Big Balls, just strutting around like he owns the place. Kenny please put him in his place!

Oh no wait you can't because of a ridiculous contract.

Damn!

Papa G

Agree mate. Carroll did OK with what was given to him. Johnson is half a stone too heavy and his crossing is shocking.
We do need a change of pace up front big time.
The Real KB

So, you were surprised that Carroll's first touch was good? Surely such a basic skill shouldn't be that surprising.
Rigsby.

Funny you mentioned that "The Real KB", I have also been thinking is it me or has he piled on a few pounds recently. Im sure Kenny and Clarke also see Johnson as a weak link and will deal with the issue this summer. Mr "Rigsby", basic skill maybe so but compared to Carroll's first touch in recent matches it was a marked improvement.

03 Jan 2012 22:41:33
Need to sign another striker, not because Carroll isn't good enough but because he is getting 2 or 3 defenders on him when it's just him upfront on his own. When he was at Newcastle they played him with Leon Best who naturally took 1 defender out of the equation giving him more space... If we signed a complete forward e.g. Huntelaar then both Carroll and Huntelaar would get far more chances as they would only have 1 defender against them, this overall pins the opposition team back as one if not both full backs have to stay back and means LFC can dominate games like both the Mancs are doing at the moment. Suarez is a striker, but he doesn't impose any physical/areal threat and so is easier to mark in that sense and his finishing has been poor all season long.
My team after January:
Reina
Carragher Skrtel Agger
Johnson Gerrard Adam Enrique
Suarez
Carroll Huntelaar

With a team like that opposition would have to sit back, johnson and enrique would have to put in shifts but with Kelley, Aurelio, Robinson and Flanagan we have adequate cover. This team would dominate smaller sides and give teams like Man City a run for their money. Come on Kenny realise 4-5-1 is useless!

Y.N.W.A

I have to agree Huntelaar would be a great acquisition. I would adore to have either him or Soldado in our lineup. Either of them playing alongside Carroll with Suarez behind the two being the creative spark. I wouldn't push the full-backs as far forward as your formation suggests but instead I would have a 3 man midfield with Gerrard on the right, Spearing in the centre (replaced by Lucas next season) and Maxi on the left.
I think Carragher won't appear in the line-up much unless Kenny is faced with injuries or if Agger or Skrtel deserve a rest.

03 Jan 2012 22:41:12
s**t results tonight but not a disaster....fourth place still anyone's.
Can't understand why Maxi doesn't get more respect given his pedigree.
Kuuyt has left the club mentally.....nothing from him and Glen Johnson should go aswell.
Spearing is Murphy-Lite (as I've said many times) and Charlie Adam's worth is becoming less obvious as the season goes on.
Tough game, though, and I apologise for my rant but we need some quality. Goodbye Luis, hope it works out wherever you go (Madrid or Barca).....shame that we're so s**t-scared of causing offence in this country that the "victim" will never, ever lose however flimsy the evidence so long as they fall within one of our "protected minorities"!....pathetic, pathetic!
I could file a complaint against someone tomorrow and unless....oh, forget it! Needless to say, I think if we tried as hard to stimulate growth as we do in leaping to the defence of the "hard-done-by minorities" we'd be doing ok.
Oh, and by the way, I'm also black by parentage but I don't think I'd ever feign offence in order to get a colleague into trouble. Evra's a nasty piece of work and his "witnesses" are just as guilty ....modern-day football is corrupt!
This country is cock-eyed and has an identity crisis.
I've got a decent job and have never felt as though my colour has been an issue. I've had to compete against people of all races to get where I am and I've won and lost...fairly.
But I've always had some do-gooding "racial-awareness" group or person offering support when I've lost out to a white man/woman for a position. I've always declined on the basis that I've always felt fairly treated.
Maybe Patrice Evra has been provoked into exploiting a loophole which gives the benefit of the doubt to anyone of "colour" making accusations of racism?
Liverpool FC have decided that an appeal would harm the commercial viabilty of the "franchise".
This decision will mean Suarez will walk...simple as!

This was always a Fergie mind-game and the whiskey-nosed Taggart f***er has won.
Perish the thought we should have a world-class player in our team!

Great post , yes fergie has won this battle , he def took this action after the Liverpool V man u game , to take the gloss off a game that showed the pool were so much the better side , not sure what I would do if I were KK , but , I would make it known how I felt about how united/evra/fergie , did the dirty . redforever .

ed is mclaren going back to fc twente and if he does do u think de jong will stay?

ste liverpool {Ed001's Note - there is certainly an attempt by Shteeve to get the job, so I would expect it to happen, unless Twente pick someone else (in which case expect Shteeve to rule himself out and claim he never had any interest in a return!). I don't expect De Jong to stay long anyway, he is likely to move on to further his career.}

Shteeve, haha, quality, i wonder if he'll be stupid enough to do that same accent.

De Jong not long, so is he short then?

Ok when the 12 year olds have quite finished let's lose the hysteria again and take a balanced view.
I've been one of the biggest critics of some of the new signings however tonight I felt Carroll, Hendo and Downing did quite well. Ok Downing should score after yet another excellent through ball by Hendo however he lacked confidence and was a little unlucky that Hart just got enough on it, it nearly got through. Carroll was isolated but did nod down a couple of good balls to create chances when people did get close enough to join up with him.
Sadly Charlie was very poor again and the less said about Johnson the better. Can't believe the critics of Kuyt and Reina, they have given everything and stayed loyal throughout all the tough times these last few years, a certain No 9 was off without a care and some fools keep holding on to a shameful hope that he might return! Forgive me but haven't the owners and manager stated we'll only sign players that want to wear the shirt with pride and passion?
By the way we just lost to the champions elect who've won 10 on the trot at home and beat Man Utd 6-1 away. Add to that no Suarez, Lucas or Gerrard & Bellers until the game was gone and you have to put this in perspective. They paid us the ultimate respect of resting 3 world class players against Sunderland so they would play tonight and by the way Yaya and Company were immense as they have been all season.
Despite all this we played some good football and dominated the ball without, as KK said in his post match, showing that clinical touch at the highest level. We also gifted them all 3 goals, sounds daft but I only remember Pepe making one great save...as did Hart by the way.
Our problems are home draws as we all know and brilliant as he is Luis played in those draws so luck we are just the same distance from Chelsea & Arsenal as before the last 3 games so all is not lost yet.
Kenny said lessons to learn let's hope we do so quickly and get through to the league cup final - again.
Cheers all,
ALB.

Best post of the night. Still all to play for!

Chipkin9 (EIRE)

Man of the match. A city defender says alot if you look at it without need to be too critical

Great post and to all those saying that Downing should have dinked it over Hart, he's not Messi you know!

Keith

Agree to a point mate but we should've got something....Kenny should've started with his best team which means Maxi, Gerrard, Kelly and Bellamy......Spearing and Johnson aren't "starters" in my opinion. Lucas and Suarez would've made a difference tonight but weren't available. It's a pity Aquilani or Meireles weren't available but you can't turn the clock back! {Ed001's Note - I am going to start just deleting posts talking about how Bellamy, Maxi and Gerrard should have started. Take some time to find out why they are not able to play from the start!}

I too felt Hendo, Carroll and Downing did well. It isn't Carroll's fault that we don't get people up to support him and the quality of ball going into him is poor. Downing is just a confidence issue, he actually isn't playing that poorly and Hendo is growing into his central role where he is more suited. On the other hand though we do lack pace, creativity and a general plan B. Adam looks out of his depth against the big boys and our general shape has really suffered since Lucas' injury, what a loss he will be. The table doesn't lie and as mentioned somewhere above I think top 6 is realistic for this season.

Good one Ed, it's about time people started supporting the team (that means knowing about them) rather than just watching the football!

I think it a fair point to mention some of our best players were unavailable. By the way not only do I agree with Ed about people understanding the reasons for KK selection policy tonight but there's no way on this earth Adam has played as well as Spearing in the last two games.
Thanks to those who appreciated my post ...it takes forever to type on a HTC!
Well done to our club for supporting Luis and standing up to the FA and Ferguson's bulling by showing the class we are renowned for worldwide.
Well done JW Henry & good man Luis Suarez, stick with us mate and you're right we'll never let you walk alone.
Cheats never prosper in the long run, see you for another famous Suarez led victory in 8 games.
ALB.

Thanks for the support on my post.
I'd like to add a huge well said to JW Henry, LFC and Luis Suarez for standing up to a corrupt FA, kangaroo court and bully in Ferguson yet managing to maintain the class and dignity that symbolises our great club worldwide.
Good for you Luis, walk through the storm and hold your head up high - we'll never let you walk alone. Stick with us son.......ALB.

Ed1 i totally agree with you about Glen Johnson. I find hard to criticise Liverpool players but Johnson as been really bad these last two games. Everybody says he is good going forward but his use of the ball as been poor and he hardly beats the last man and when he crosses he either hits it out at the back post or hits the first man. I can understand Carroll getting frustrated with him.

It is definitely time to play kelly at right back a far better defender and a better user of the ball.

Sorry i forgot how good spearing was tonight i thought he was superb and he got the better of Barry. Played really well.

Mighty reds

bar the first 10 mins and last 10 of the first half we wernt all that bad. obviously city being 2 up, they didnt need to press us, and all second half they counter attacked us. it wasnt a 3-0 result. city were professional, and fair dues to them. our defence was ok, reina disappointed me though, and i think kelly should be given a run. our problem is creativity, and we need to get more than one man in the box! carroll cant be blamed for average deliveries, and no one to knock it down to. i think downing also needs to get a bit of confidence and shoot more often. apart from the one on one, one shot in the 92nd minute isnt enough. we play good football til the final third, better than we've done for years, but we're scoring less......time to dip in the market..... DAR

03 Jan 2012 22:35:58
The guys need confidence; down to coaches and players to work hard and focus on the basics and go from there! Hit the ball sweetly and get it on target; cross to miss first Defender; attempt to get to the line and cross etc not hard!

The only time I can see Stewart Downing providing good service is in a my local branch of Halifax. KK cut your losses now. Gerrad Houllier played Diouf week in week out even though he was W*** in an attempt to solve our winger crisis. He was determined that proove us all wrong thinking he was S*** this ultimatley cost him his job. 70 million on Hendo, Carroll and Downing is not looking like money well spent especially the 20m on Downing.
I have no doubt that all you fence sitters and Mr PC get behind em boys will throw some pointless stats at me..No need I already have them..
Downing...Passing when he should shoot...100%
Shooting when he should pass...100%
Not getting into goal scoring positions...100%
Getting into good positions and passing the buck to someone else...100%
Side passes completion..100%
Crossing the ball either too nobody 100%
Looking like they should work in Halifax...100%

Dave

Love the post,
kind of agree
also dissapointed in Downing

Banks always have masive ques

You missed back pass completion 100%

Downing not getting into good attacking positions?? did u watch the game today or are you just blind?

What cracked me up was his lack of self belief he looked scared to have a go himself he could easily had couple more shots, and when out wide all our players just float balls in this drives me bonkers ac has his faults but unless ball is yard or half yard infront of him and at speed so he can attack it rather him having to stand and wait to be attacked by centre half he's never going to score the service he gets is terrible at best! That said a 35m striker shud be far more mobile and comfortable with ball at his feet! So frustrated tonight cos we weren't that far away but an inch mite as well be a mile if u lose!

Although i would like to somewhat agree with u, i personally think Downing is a good player, im sure he will come too, and secondly, how has he got 100% on shootin when he should have passed? he was clean in on goal this evenin and if he had passed, people would probably still be moanin about it, when people are on his back, he cant do nothing right, give the guy a break for cryin out loud

03 Jan 2012 22:34:08
Gentlemen, we were played for fools tonight. All the stats will point to the fact that this was a game we were unfortunate to lose. But the fact of the matter is City saw the lack of incision, guisle and penetration camped in front of them and said 'there you are boys. We know you can't really hurt us, so have it all say long.' And we did, and we were done like kippers. Well and truly time to hold up the hands and say yes, he was a panic buy. He was the best that we could get in the tight window we had, so we took a chance. Sticking by this guy over the remaining half of the season, and not going out to replace him with a proven poacher will cost us so so dearly

Don't talk *** sh***e.
No team gives up possession or loses the battle of the midfield. The two early goals changed the dynamic of the game and allowed City to sit back and defend. But our midfield was on top.

We got beaten by better team on day and its football, we did play well in patches and couldnt score which is story of our life but now lets see how much man city paid for their team..over 250 million.lets see positive and look for future games..YNWA

03 Jan 2012 22:27:53
hi all not a fair reflection tonight think j had a great game again! think its fair to say now is the time for kuyt to leave just not good enough anymore! downing had a shocker should of scored in first ten mins, when the fullback has the ball he doesnt make runs to make space just stands there ball watching all to much, think its time to leave him out for couple of games cause i do think he has the quality but maybe trying to hard! as for carrol think he is a great player just needs good service this is why we need more creativity, rw is a must and a silva mata type to in the middle iwould get these positons sorted first then think of a striker maybe in the summer keep surpporting and to louis chin up ynwa

Kenny: how can we replace Suarez>

Jelavic 9 million, quality player {Ed001's Note - hardly a replacement for Suarez, lacks pace and effort and isn't exactly setting the heather alight this season.}

03 Jan 2012 22:25:58
ed every time we loose were the worst team in the league with all the posts flooding in and when we win there all back on saying we will deffo get 4th.its getting stupid were still in the hunt for 4th.at the start of the season i knew it would be hard.every forgets we havnt got cpl/european footie, which would get us the better players.plus we havnt got pots of cash,we all know we need a striker.we can all have a go at are team for a bad performance but some of it is a joke.lets not forget how far we have come as a club

03 Jan 2012 22:25:23
I apprecite city played well defensively but there is far too much faffing around the edge of the area by the reds. Could be a lack of confidence in carroll...so perhaps a top striker required for the team to believe in. But even with suarez playing we tip toe round the edge of the box with and finish with little conviction.

03 Jan 2012 22:24:49
Thanks Eds just found the info I asked you about, took a bit of finding, Sorry for the copy & paste.

This just in from a very reliable source, Andy Carrol will go on loan to Port Vale for the rest of the season as a back up for for ex-Rotherham man Tom Pope.

Dalglish threw the game,
could see it from the team picked before game started,
Pressure now back on Fergie in the manc battle
and Fergie knows Suarez will be back for old trafford game
Maybe not everyone will understand
but it was one of those Scotish revenge things,
like in Macbeth...
"Those Fergie commands,
move only in command,
nothing in love.
Now does he (Fergie) feel his title
hang loose about him,
like a giant's robe
upon a dwarfish thief"....

I have no idea if you are a liverpool fan but there no way he'd throw it away fool

From BBC:

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish: "If you want to be successful you have to be clinical, and that's what was missing tonight from ourselves. We worked hard and passed it well, but if you're not clinical you won't progress."

State the bleedin' obvious...No sh*t sherlock!

Message to KK: we NEED to BUY a NEW striker who can score GOALS! Please buy one this month!

No, we need player who can feed the strikers!

03 Jan 2012 22:31:03
Will liverpool now start with Carrol and Bellemy up front. The old Newcastle forward line of speed and strengh. It might be better to try them upfront.

03 Jan 2012 22:22:16
Now that Luis Suarez has accepted his punishment. He should go out publicly and apologize to Patrice Evra for what he said.

Liverpool Football Clubs name has been dragged through the dirt. We should go out and buy a top class player to encourage Luis Suarez and the other liverpool players that the club is still going in the right direction.

People will stop talking about this event and will start talking about our new signing. Its time to change the media attention.

Man city had 29 shoots on target tonight. They played very well. Roberto Mancini seems very disapointed by the barry getting sending off and skrtel not getting a card.

29 shoots on target u numbty. Next time watch the match will ya. Maybe 8-9

gezza1982

29 shots on target?. New calculator. For person please!,,,, Go bury ya head fool.

City did not have 29 shots, what game were you watching.

Theymay have passed the ball 29 times but certainly not in the direction of the goal...have you tried merging your two brain cells to see if you can make one good one out of them?

Team rating:

Reina - 5 - was poor for the first 2 goals, even his kicking had been bad.

Johnson - 5- Really doesn't deserve to play ahead of Kelly. Hopefully we can get shot of him due to the contract issues of him having to start when fit.

Skrtel - 7 - Had a pretty solid game excluding the penalty issue which was Downings fault for giving the ball away and allowing us to be hit on the counter attack.

Agger - 8 - Was great all game, Dzeko nearly caused some trouble towards the end but he didn't put a foot wrong. Let down by the above 3 for the goals.

Enrique - 8 - Ditto Agger. Never looked troubled.

Kuyt - 5 - gave the ball away for the first goal, poor touch, poor pass, never ran with the ball (in the right direction). Was useless.

Henderson - 6 - Wasn't good, but neither was he bad. Just seemed to go missing forlarge parts of the game.

Spearing - 8 - Great tackling, covered for the defence brilliantly, battled hard and won every 50/50, won a lot of headers to, and i cant remember him giving the ball away.

Adam - 6 - Was pretty average just like Henderson. Can't really afford to carry performances like this in these sort of games.

Downing - 7 - His final ball wasn't ever great, but his runs were good. Should've had two goals really, but hit both shots straight at Hart. Above average but not great.

Carroll - 8 - Brilliant for me, won loads of headers, held the ball up great, worked hard and caused defenders a lot of trouble. If he'd had some better service he may have bagged a couple of goals.

Gerrard - 7 - Failed to do much after coming on, seemed a bit off the pace. Made some good passes through and attempted some one twos in and around the area. Only Bellamy and Rodriguez seemed on his wavelength.

Bellamy - 7 - Great running at city, looked dangerous as soon as he came on, and linked up well with Gerrard. Need longer than half an hour against a team like City though.

Rodriguez - 6 - found space well, also linked with Gerrard well, could've buried his chance in the box to be honest though.

All in all not a bad performance, and the scoreline certianly doesn't reflect how some of the players played. Reina and Johnson let us down the most. Was missing that killer pass again though. We desperately lack a Silva or Juan Mata type. Anybody who slates Carroll or Spearing today, either a) didn't watch the game or b) has no footballing knowledge. We were let down by the first team regualers, but we've 3 points off fourth with 18 games to go so lets be positive.

MOTM for me (from our team) is a tie between Andy Carroll and Jay Spearing.

YNWA! (Adam)

P.S. call me delusional you haters, i'm just being a realist.

Good post there mate but for me downing was a 4, he's in the team to cross and he made one good one all night.

Cheers
Squeky

You are delusional

Delusional!

dmedly

You must have been watching another game Downing was pure s**t all game

Cheers Squeky, I was meant to put Downing at 6 anyway. Think 4's a tad harsh, although he definately needs to improve. We paid £35m for Carrolls potential, which he may yet achieve, same for Henderson. However Downing was bought in for £20m to be an instant success at 27 years old, and he has 0 goals and 0 assists. Average player at best. But in all honesty, Kennys only bad buy so far.

03 Jan 2012 22:20:28
Well lads. Very unimpressive from the red men tonight. Far to many poor performances. But there were four players who really angered me. Glen Johnson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Dirk Kuyt.

Glen Johnson, the right footed right back who can do nothing but try and cut in on his left foot at every opportunity. Should be dropped and give Marty a run, at least he's honest and will give his all for the shirt. Glens too happy to go through the motions. That goal he scored against Chelsea was the worst thing that he done, been living off it ever since, and thinks thats him now an he doesnt need to work hard to start.

Charlie Adam. Cannot believe this man plays for our great Liverpool. What does he do? Doesn't chase, can't tackle, his deliveries are woeful. Another mans who's performances have dropped since he has joined us. I get the impression from him he's happy to cruise along earning a nice wage playing for a big club thinking he's made it. Really sickens me to watch it to be honest. Always said he was a poor player.

Stewart Downing. What did we pay for him? His attitude tonight was shocking. He's a winger who has no pace, who cant beat a man, and seems to have forgotten how to get to the byline to put a cross in. He's a mid table player. Distinctly average.

And Dirk. God love the man he's just not very good. I blame him for the 1st goal. Far to slow and cumbersum on the ball. Should never be dallying on a ball in that area. I know the club are looking to sell him on, and it cant come soon enough.

One thing I cannot abide from a Liverpool player is not playing for the jersy and playing for the manager. Giving everything must be the minimum requirement from any player crossing that white. And if they do that we cannot have much complaints, but that was not the case tonight from a large majority.

On a plus side, Martin and Daniel are looking solid at the back, Jay and Jordan gave there all. Carroll was isolated, and was getting no service, although his movement is, well their is none. Good that Stevie got more minutes under his belt.

Rant over. YNWA

KMK {Ed001's Note - you are wrong about Adam, if a nice wage is all he wanted, he would be at Villa on a much higher one. The one he rejected to take our much lower one.}

Its a much nicer one than he was on in Blackpool. He'd really need to up his performance to justify anything like the money he's on. Goes for more than him too.

KMK {Ed001's Note - hardly relevant, the lad is not sitting on his laurels, he is tired, he is not at a semi-pro side in terms of training and it is taking its toll. Blackpool have a hell of a lot of good points, but they don't have a very professional attitude towards fitness training, he is suffering because of it. The lad needs a rest.}

Your right. Glen Johnson doesn't have to work hard to start. His contract dictates that when 100% fit and able to play, he starts right back, regardless of the managers decision.

YNWA! (Adam)

Ed001, if Blackpool are not very professional towards their fitness training are you surprised that Liverpool loan then players?

dmedly {Ed001's Note - no, because they are going their to learn technique not to gain fitness. Blackpool is close enough they can go to Melwood for fitness training. Anyway young lads need a less physical regime or they suffer injuries like most of Everton's youngsters.}

03 Jan 2012 22:20:06
What is Kenny doing starting with Dirk?, he has been our worst player for over two seasons now, he produces nothing, his first touch is shocking, he never beats a man, and cannot pass to a team mate ten yards away, and has not scored or created a chance let alone a goal for god knows how long, it was time to get rid a long time ago why Kenny still calls on him is beyond me

You mean the same Dirk Kuyt that scored a hat-trick against Man Utd last season? And scored 15 goals in 41 games in all competitions last season 2010-11? Hmmm....

Kuyt was one of our best players last season. Why are children's memories as short as Goldfishes?

Yes he's having a poor spell and may potential be on his way but he's been a great servant, show some gratitude you little pork sword!

64% possession, 16 goal attempts but still our beloved liverpool been defeated 3-0..dissappointed but thats football some time..hope we can bounce back from this defeat...

supports red army through thick and thin...

shukri

How many of those attempts were genuine chances the only clear chances we created all night were Downings and the block by Kompany

03 Jan 2012 22:18:53
The loss to city just showed how we desperately need some pace upfront and for the love of god please don't let it be Walcott - most overated player in the premier league! I personally would be happy to give any relatively young and gifted goalscorer a chance: Huntelaar, Poldolski, Soldado, De Jong, Bent. Stick them upfront and sign Adam Johnson and 4th spot will be ours!

03 Jan 2012 22:18:11
What is going on... all season, we play great football up till the edge of the opposition 18 yrd line then we stop.... pass it round the outside of the box and juat cant cross it in. You could only count on one hand the amount of decent crosses today and thats with johnson, enrique, adam, gerrard, henderson, downing and belamy on the pitch.

If only we could get it into the box as well as we can get it from side to side....

sorry just had to vent, do i have a point?

gd work eds

I didn't think we played great football this season, we played better football last season when we had Luis Suarez, Raul Meireles, Maxi Rodriguez

U do have a good point

ste liverpool

Glen Johson can Cross a ball, but was pinned back for the whole game. José Enrique was none existent in the first half. Attack comes from the fullbacks.

03 Jan 2012 22:17:47
15 mins to go, our 3 subs used, I was hoping KK would take off Downing & Johnson. Devoid of the ability to beat their men and cross. Never thought I'd say that, but that was true tonight

03 Jan 2012 22:11:42
after tonight a striker needs to be bought within the week

Who is available what is better than the guys we have? I don't think Neymar + Carlos Tevez hybrid walking around on the cheap. Im still waiting for magical Damien Comolli to come up with five or six magical players.

03 Jan 2012 22:10:58
Hi Eds: Will Suarez miss just league games or
does it cover all competitions? Sorry if this is ground you've already covered. Many thanks in advance {Ed001's Note - all comps.}

03 Jan 2012 22:10:18
Can't believe people are slagging off carroll he won about 80% of the balls played up to him but no midfielders got close to him for support and there we go again good aul downing as useful as an ash tray on a motorbike

03 Jan 2012 22:09:59
in the starting eleven our midfield and front players goals all season downing 0 spearing 0 henderson 1 adam 2 ( 1 pen and 1 deflection) kuyt 0 carrol 2 how did kenny expect to win that with that starting eleven?

03 Jan 2012 22:09:24
I have been looking at the site for a long time now, and i am sick and tired of the whingers that jump straight on here after a defeat, all some people can do is slag off players, Carroll had a good game game tonight it is not his fault that he doesn't get the right service from the wings. Dirk Kuyt has not had the best of games tonight that is true, Stuart Downing needs to remember how to cross however we should look on the bright side we were the better side tonight and only lacked that bit of guile and flair. Stevie G is just returning from a long term injury and needs to be brought back gently, Craig Bellamy has kanckered knees and can not play two 90 minutes matches in a row. Stop slagging off the team and get behind them with fans like you who needs enemies.

Finally a bit of sanity, some of the people on here feel like the prawn sandwich bridgade from united probably why the atmosphere is so bad in anfield this year worst i have ever seen, the home fans need to get a bit of perspective

I agree my friend. Didnt play at all bad against top of table team who have only dropped two points at ome all season. Some of these people cannot be fans with some of the things they post about players. Bet if they read some of these posts they would be pretty shocked how hostile it is.

03 Jan 2012 22:17:00
To get the best out of Andy Carroll the crosses must come from the by-line,not once in the game tonight did our wide men or fullbacks get in behind their full backs and we had plenty of the ball.I am very dissappointed with the performance tonight,we did not defend well and looked clueless when going forward, our build up play is slow and laboured.

03 Jan 2012 22:16:48
Lets put this as simple as i can!! Man.c took there chances and again we didnt. If downing had put that 1on1 with the keeper into the back of the net it might of been a different game. We played well but we def need a rw with pace and that can cross. And we need a finisher that also can make things happen. Looking at a.johnson today and all the other times ive seen him play, he cant cross either just has a good shot. We have to get someone with flair, speed, great crosser, and that man is me lol. No but seriously some like mac manaman type player. And a time machine to bring a young robbie fowler back. What u think eds

Gezza1982 {Ed001's Note - right winger and a penalty box predator is what I feel we most miss. Personally I would like to see Johnson dropped after his last couple of games, regardless of contractual issues.}

If we don't play him, are we in breach of contract and he leaves for nothing? {Ed001's Note - I do not know what the terms of the contract lays out in terms of penalties, but there must be a very real chance that could happen.}

Do you know if we are able to sub him during a game Ed, with his contract stipulations?

dmedly {Ed001's Note - I don't know, but that is a very interesting question.}

Agree with ed on this one Johnson has been poor recently

03 Jan 2012 22:16:43
Does anyone know if Liverpool are seriously considering selling Carroll? I've just watched the 2nd half of the city game having got in from work and it's embarrassing watching us try and cross for him. He has missed chances and doesnt look sharp but it must be so frustrating that not one ball played into the box seems to beat the first man or falls nowhere near him. In my opinion a winger or 2 who can actually beat a man and then sit up a ball to be attacked is what we lack and until that player is brought in I think Carroll will continue to struggle. He has obvious talent and is still very young and I think a run in the side whilst Suarez is banned will do no harm at all and hopefully build some confidence.
Critcho

When did we cross

03 Jan 2012 22:15:48
I said last night that the ban would not be overturned and that Suarez will leave probably to Madrid. We need to accept his departure and make better use of the cash than we did with the Torres situation. Higuian and Ozil straight swap would be Madrid's preference.

My preference to.

03 Jan 2012 22:15:19
Ed does glen johnson really have a clause in his contract that allows him to play so many games? Because in my opinion we have 2 right backs in flanagan and kelly that are 10 times better defenders than he is. Sure,he is a great attacker, but rb's are defenders primarily. As for hendo,downing,carrol..eish. 3 great players no doubt, but just not for lfc. Thats 16+35+20=71million,yes millions of POUNDS (the strongest currency in the world) wasted in my honest opinion. I love Liverpool Football Club to death, but Ive quite honestly had enough of us buying Fulham-level players for shocking amounts of money. Im not a negative person, but it needs to be said that the king has made some terrible mistakes in the transfer market that is costing us dearly, even though enrique, suarez, coates and even adam have been fantastic signings. But i have to admit, man city are just an incredible team. The way they pounced on the few errors we made tonight shows how good they are. I really hope they win the title because im sick of united sweeping all before them while we battle away for a top 4 finish at best every season. I honestly believe that we as the supporters of this great club deserve so much more. And one last thing,i think that martin skrtel is turning into an amazing defender for us. Hope he continues to improve. Ok performance tonight, poor poor result.
Capetownred {Ed001's Note - I am told he does have the clause, the person who told me would know better than me, that's all I am going to say there.}

03 Jan 2012 22:14:12
The score line doesn't reflect the game. I thought pepe was unlucky and should of saved the two goals.
Was it a penalty? He did get the slightest of touches but he feels that and dives.
Did we deserve to loose? No, the difference between them and us was they were lucky and we were the complete opposite.

We need a new striker to take some pressure of AC. The lad needs a goal soon. Come on Kenny get Luuk Da Jong in ASAP.

All the Carrol haters will be out in numbers tonight. I feel for you eds having to read through the Kenny out posts, I guess your used to it.

IF YOU CAN'T SUPPORT US WHEN WE'RE LOOSING, DON'T SUPPORT US WHEN WE WIN.

Unlucky tonight lads, let's plod on and show them how its done in the Carling cup.

03 Jan 2012 22:09:14
First post and think this as honest as it gets for our performance. Carroll did everything he could tonight, but the dilemma is that when he plays, crossing is our only plan for the whole game and when you float the ball in its impossible for Carroll to do anything with it. How many times does Carroll have to scream at the wingers to hit it hard and flat so he can attack the ball. Not going to comment on Kuyt and Adam as I think everyone was disappointed with there performance tonight.
On a possative I would of snapped your hand of if you said we would have been playing this well for the majority of the season so far!

cheers
Squeaky {Ed003's Note - Credit has to go to citeh for their tactics they stopped anyone hitting the byline and creating,they held a deep(ish) line and the mids doubled up and showed the pool players attacking inside to either try and play a pass through the eye of a needle of just cross it in from deep on a diagonal which is easy to defend}

Fair point ed I think after citys dreadful defending against Sunderland they've really worked on it in the training ground, there weren't many gaps in the defence, however the crossing still wasn't good enough for me, 90% were either behind Carroll or floated up into the air which kompany kept nodding away all game.

Cheers
Squeky

Ok this wasn't easy to watch but 4th is still a possibility as Arsenal and Chelsea aren't great either....you must agree ? The other three are way ahead of us and they are not in the Champs league !

What I don't understand is this :

Why doesn't Bellamy star every match ?

Why is Kelly not right back ? ( don't give me this contract sh**te about Johnson)

Downing - bless him- wants the ball - but what does he do with it ?

What has come out of this is this :

Enrique - superb left back

Gerrard has to now start every game ( barring Oldham on Friday)

Kuyt is probably on his way out ( has given everything for us)

Maxi looks like he is the only one who is likely to score !

Don't despair- I do belkieve we will come 4th - no chance of anything higher - yes we do need more creativity in midfield and at least one clinical goalscorer

REDBOY

{Ed003's Note - On Johnson, it's the contract sh**te as you put it, Redboy)

Bellamy has a chronic knee condition and cant play every game even though he fully deserves to do so

The game really showed how much we need a striker. I think that with some one up front with Carroll he will be alot more dangerous with someone running on to his flick ons and creating more space. Jay Spearing i thought was our best player, always gives 100%. Aber Red

I have never known "fans" to slag the club so much. If you want to win every week and sign "big-money" players, go and support City...

The point is some of you need to question why your judgement is better than Kenny Dalglish? Why you think you can comment on PROFESSIONALS and their ability? Why do you even "support" Liverpool Football Club if it hurts you so much that you have to complain about every single game, win, draw or loss.

A wise LFC fan once said, "if you can't support LFC when we lose or draw, don't support us when we win"

The moral of the story being that we should back everyone at this fantastic club and get behind them, there is too much hate towards our very own players!

So lets aim to go back to the Ethiad, in the Semis, and go there to draw and a win as a bonus, if possible.

LFC used to be a family with a great attitude, now it just seems that people are blinded by money, video games and the lack of passion that is required to qualify as a Liverpool Football Club fan.

LG.

Think your wrong here LG, of course we can comment on professionals and there ability, I will always support every player in the squad and think many of our players have been getting very harsh criticism this season so far. Our football this season is in another league to last seasons, however you can't defend Adam, Kuyt, and downings performances tonight or for maybe the last 2,3 or 4 games, we all know how good they can play but there service for Carroll and all round play was atrocious tonight!

Excellent I agree completely

Everyone has an opinon in football. they have a right to express how they feel while the game is going on. New media brings this out in the fans. A roleacoaster of feeling

At last a voice of reason and clearly a true fan.

I can't believe somebody actually disagrees.

Billericay Red

I've been relatively quiet after games we have lost or drawn and today i felt we had no edge to the side.

Why do I support the club after losses or draws? I have no clue I'm so emotionally involved and I love the club so much that i expect us to win every game, sign the best players and if we don't I'm frustrated and upset (anyone in my house would testify to the fact that I'm a different person if we fail to perform).

Even though my head at times want to support someone else I can't that's why I can empathize with other fans that are frustrated.

Calling those that criticize the club they love any less of a fan is beyond me. I don't praise or support the players after a bad performance nor do i publicly criticize them.

Its that passion and desire that makes us Liverpool fans and as much as we hate it when we lose we still watch the games, get nervous when we face the big teams, are disappointed when we concede, and elated wen we score.

Criticism doesn't make you any less of a fan than someone who defends players after consistent bad performances, a supporter maybe but not a fan.

Blimey you'd think it was 6.1 at anfield!

Square tomato

It could have been 6 goals today. Man City has 29 shots on goal. That said alot about how liverpool set up for this game.

Liverpool feared man city, when they should of gone out in a traditional 4-4-2 and played their own game. they score one, we score two. It would have been a better game.

Where did you get that 29 shots stats?????

03 Jan 2012 22:12:47
Eden Hazard will cost £40m. Maybe its time to go out and spent alittle bit of money on someone little more creative.

Aquaman £6.75m + Luis Suarez £35m gone. we would kind of have the money for Hazard.

Hazard yes but cant sell suarez

ACHILLES.

Is there enough money for him to be hypnotised into believing Liverpool is suddenly his favourite club?

If we sold our best player (after Gerrard), do you think Hazard would be interested ?

Hmm we played better with 9 v spuds then citeh with 11
We are/were awful, absolutely shocking. I hate moaning and slagging players off, but it needs to be done on this occasion.
I cannot understand how downing plays week in week out as he can't do anything and it does my head in.
Honestly believe Jose thinks he is messi
First game we can't have a go at andy as he had nothing to deal with or any crosses to help him he held up the ball well and didn't stand a chance in the air with kompany etc.
Also tired of saying that Adam is poor, but it is true!
How we cannot take advantage of 10 men with about 20 left is poor
Disappointed red, but we will look foraward to a carp game with Oldham on Friday

All you so called "supporters" STOP slagging off Kenny !!!

Do you expect us to win the league with the players we have got, he needs time to rebuild. Get your heads out of the sand, we can't attract the top players any more, we don't have the money or champions league.

The Hicks / Gillett hangover is going to take a few years to get over. Support the team, which apart from some poor luck has done reasonably well this season.

Trust me we will be back where we belong, but it won't be this season or next .

Billericay Red

People will stop slagging of kk when he stops buying s**t usless players, stops leaving decent players on the bench for s**t like kuyt, adam, henderson, downing, johnson

03 Jan 2012 22:07:15
now tell me you have faith in andy carrol we need a big name striker its a simple as that a top striker will make the rest of the team look 10 times better fact!

Instead of having a go at Carroll, maybe have a look at some of the service he is getting!
Take the "I hate Carroll glasses off" and look at what he has to play with!
I thought we bought Downing to supply crosses to the big fella?

dmedly

I have the faith! But someone needs to learn how to cross the ball in a decent way.

03 Jan 2012 22:07:14
Does anyone find it strange that the decision to accept Suarez ban came immediately before Man City game?

I suspect owners not happy with the negative publicity. In my opinion (just a 'hunch'), Suarez will leave in January. We will probably be told "Requests transfer" any day now. Just wait and see....

I agree, I think he wants out. FSG not impressed?
I think the eds have the same opinion. {Ed001's Note - I don't think you should be suggesting you know what we are thinking, we are capable of saying what we think for ourselves.}

Wise up and stop fear mongering.....Suarez is staying put!

It was obviously done to get the issue over with!

TONIGHTS PERFORMANCE:-

reina - Must still b hungover from xmas even pepes entitled to an off day
g.johnson - A complete liability poor player
agger - Did very well
skrtel - Did very well also part from the penalty
enrique - Good but still a liability
adam - did ok nothing great
spearing - I thought he did really good constantly pressurising.
downing - just not good enough
kuyt - Just doesnt cut the mustard anymore
carroll - doesnt get the service he needs but still a poor player considering his price tag

gerrard - could see the difference in class when he came on findin space opening people up.
bellamy - constant threat pinging balls in and crossing alot in

All in all i was impressed by how we kept possesion and played pass n move and on occassion forced man city into playing long balls really good football to watch despite us losing.

ACHILLES.

O n HENDERSON - great through ball to downing early on in the game bt part from that he was quiet.

ACHILLES.

Enrique a liability? I don't think so!

I'm sorry but I completely disagree with the "Enrique - Good but still a liability" quote!

By far our best signing this season, and very rarely beaten, tonight was the first time I'd seen him beaten (only once) in a long while.

dmedly

You forgot Henderson, was that on purpose or does he not merit a mention?

03 Jan 2012 22:04:25
Downing has no confidence what so ever that chance he had in the first 10 mins he should have scored. And what's with pepe? He's done that a few times already this season. I'm very annoyed with that performance yes it was against man city who will probably win the league but come on at least give it a go how the hell are we going to get through the semi-final if we play like that because even if city change half there team its still more than a match for us. Arrrrrgh

Great ball by Hendo too, might I add, still people will bash him.

Downing really should have finished it though.

Hi Eds / Macca

Do you believe our interest in Luuk De Jong is real? He looks a good player but his strength seems to be in the air which means it would be no different than having Carroll up top! If we go down that route we need better wingers

NiRed {Ed005's Note - Yes it is very real. Luuk De Jong is quick and has good tecnique also - and a good finisher but he is pretty good in the air. In all honesty he reminds me of RVP abit.}

But he would want champions league football so thats us out of the running

So, Ed005 would you buy him and play him ahead of Carroll? {Ed005's Note - Well it would be dependand on many factors mate. If it were my choice I would sign Soldado. However if we were unable to afford Soldado I would certainly take a chance on De Jong. He's scoring goals for fun in Holland and looks a very good young player. However he would need to earn his starting place.}

03 Jan 2012 22:03:15
I think a lot of people on here are expecting a striker to sign in January. DO NOT expect anyone to arrive as Kenny feels were strong enough already until the summer. I personally would love to see a striker to come in but I'm 95% certain nothing will materialize. I don't have a source, just an opinion.

Click agree if you think the same

Hans

"Kenny feels we are strong enough" really? Did you watch the match against city? You are very clueless. No further comments.

dont want to sound negative, but the Wembley dream at the momement seems highly unlikely (and im being kind)

we are seriously lacking a creative player that floats behind the strikers (like silva for city). i dont think we can blame andy carroll today, he did his best, the crosses to him where just sh*te.

LFC 2929

City's defence, especially Kompany, were excellent today, we had most of the possession but couldn't really get into their box and cause problems.

03 Jan 2012 22:02:41
Really harsh scoreline! If ever there was a scoreline that didn't reflect the performance it was Citys. Tells you everything when Vincent Komany gets the motm.

TBH i'm not even that disappointed. City have a 100% record at home and it was always going to be difficult, especially without Suarez.

No point in complaining about the penalty decision either (even though I thought it wasn't), because had it of been Liverpool it would have been a stonewall :p

Let's look towards the next game lads.

03 Jan 2012 22:02:37
I will personally give andy carroll a piggy back to which ever club wants to sign him in jan, we need a great striker now not next season or the season after but now, he simply is not good enough... he jumps up for the ball barely wins it then trotts about doing sod all... what a waste of 35million
We need two strikers in jan to start getting somewhere or at least a striker that will put a shift in!!

Ant

Service into him tonight was shocking. we could have had shearer in his prime up top tonight and he'd be able to do no better.

carroll is great in the air but having kompany, richards and toure all crowd him out, he's going to struggle

You don't feel that the people crossing the ball in have something to do with his lack of winning the ball...I thought we bought Downing to whip some balls into the box, not constantly run forward and then stop!

dmedly

Well thats how one dimensional carroll makes our game when he plays which all it is crossing it in its all too predictable.....
at least when bellamy, suarez, maxi etc play its quick pass and move which is the type of game you need to play against city
ant {Ed001's Note - how is it anything to do with Carroll, we barely put in a cross all night, certainly no more than usual.}

03 Jan 2012 22:02:37
I think i'm gonna have to stop reading this site after we lose cos there's too much negativity it's unbelievable. Let's judge once the season is over. Still only 3 points off of CL place and we have just played arguably our hardest game of the season. Let's get behind the team whoever plays. We are still a work in progress and I still BELIEVE. Let's not walk alone and all believe!

Spot on about time a sensible post.u speak sense

03 Jan 2012 22:02:18
Kompany had Carroll in his pocket the whole game. Playing to a big central striker just doesn't suit the fast, tricky passing style that at the others could play. We didn't play that badly but just didn't look like scoring. Fox in the box is exactly what we're missing; the big fella can't do it on his own. Let's just hope Stevie, Maxi and Bellers can start the next game.

Good game City...solid. Liverpool played well at times. Sell Johnson and drop downing for being a s**thouse. A right back who can defend AND cross would help. Come on red men keep the chins up!

03 Jan 2012 22:02:04
Very good game, very well played by liverpool. Expect to see that kind of commitment week in and week out. Tough night with the weather.

Very good all round I thought alot of positives can be taken away from tonights game.

Jay Spearing got some game time and so did Andy Carrol. Gerrard got through another game. So everything is looking good for Liverpool.

Are you blind, good night were you watching the Newcastle game?

Yeah great another 0 points gained but hey we played well thats all that counts...... right {Ed001's Note - there are no points up for grabs in a cup match anyway, are you sure you have taken your medication tonight???}

03 Jan 2012 22:01:58
Decent build up play but no final ball, crosses were awful especially downing and johnson hitting the first man over and over can't remember carroll having one good ball to attack, kuyts passing gets worse apart from that, GREAT! I thought there were some positives like possesion and interplay I do think we are not far off being a very good side but it might take a bit of time, one last thing, was the penalty a dive it looked it to me but I can't be sure.

03 Jan 2012 22:01:52
No complains about the result. We were well and truly beaten. It was essentially damage control in the second half. Not going to criticise any player because it was a collective effort.

Game merely showed the difference in class and wealth of talent at Moneybags' disposal, but yes we are falling short in the attacking department. Need to get a good striker and creative playmaker in quickly. We can still make top 4 especially since the chavs and gooners look vulnerable. SingRed

Disappointing but we are more than living with the top teams just need that little bit extra..

Suarez Bent

Downing on the right isnt working, he just slows the game to get onto his left foot allowing the defending team to get men behind the ball. He's totally out of confidence, get him back on the left and let him get some crosses in !

Geez. Thought we were supposed to be good against the top teams.....what an eye opener. Feels like back at White Hart Lane in September.....except this time WE had an extra man. Shouldn't we have scored one goal? I would be happy if we beat them in Carling Cup, but what are the odds?

Caroll did very well. He looks hungry. Keep your chins up red fans.. Happy new year

Carroll was poor his movement off the ball is terrible.

03 Jan 2012 21:59:04
There was nothing wrong with our performance tonight. I thought the whole team played the only one who lacked quality was Glen Johnson. Ok we need a bit more quality up front but we are a damm good team at the moment.

I can see us turning them over in the semi. So onwards and upwards from here. I thoght downing was our man of the match tonight.

Mighty reds

I honestly cant believe anyone who watched the game could say downing was our man of the match

03 Jan 2012 21:56:14
I question the clubs decision to accept luis' ban so close to the match. Surely it would have been better to play him tonight and accept it in the morning. The disruption cannot have helped what was an ineffectual and toothless performance. We need rid of AC for whatever we can get for him, he showed he hasn't the movement or intelligence to be LFC class tonight, but saying that, the supply to him was woeful as well. I truly despair for us at the moment, we need to get someone in at the sharp end that can do the business, not one for the future, one for the now.

I'm afraid with or without suarez you did not even have a chance through a squirrels ass in hell.
That was effectively a footballing lesson for Messrs dalglish and gerrard.
Considering that city just played on Sunday and were a man down for almost 20 mins.
There should be an enquiry into why Liverpool couldn't score a goal.
Thanks anyway for a much needed boost towards the title.

I agree I was surprised by the timing, but as much as I disagree with the ban in the first place, having read more into it, and the clubs recent statement, an Luis own.. it's probably right to put a line under the situation ASAP!

03 Jan 2012 21:58:20
Thought we did ok, a few errors but the scoreline flattered them. We look static on the attack around the penalty area though, nobody makes a clever run from midfield, the wide players have to stop and check before they cross the ball & then the crosses are crap. I'm disappointed but am realistic knowing that we are years off the mancs and this game is probably the hardest one to get a result from all season.
Not worried!
Ultra red

Set Peices will always get you goals.

Ultra Red you are so right,we need to be better in final third,Saurez and fully fit Stevie will help. Not worried either.

A fair summary Ultra Red. We need a couple of players who know where the net is and can finish. For tonights game i thought KD was too conservative - he left out Liverpool's goal scorers in Maxi, Bellamy and Gerard... i couldn't see any of the starting 11 scoring a goal and to be fair on Carroll he was isolated up front. {Ed001's Note - Bellamy, Gerrard and Maxi can not play every game. Why are people too lazy to find out why a player isn't in the starting line up, but will spend hours bitching about them not being in it?}

I think we played well in places but we lacked an end product from the wings. Downing keeps cutting inside and kuyt is usually the point of the team where possession is lost.

03 Jan 2012 21:55:52
Can anybody in our team other than Gerrard or bellemy actually cross a ball....we never get it past the 1st man and then everyone wonders why Carroll isn't doin it for us! The lad hasn't got a chance!
We didn't deserve to lose 3-0 tho, city were s**t too.

We have spent well over £100m on players of course i expect 4th or more. simply not good enough for all the money spent so questions have to be asked over KD & DC {Ed001's Note - yes questions have to be asked of why you can't show the intelligence and maturity to show a bit of patience?}

Can all stop moaning about maxi bellamy and Gerrard not starting now because we were worse when they came on

Game was already over when they came on

What?! we actually started to play when they came on. They are intelligent and confident enough to make chances. Kuyt was awful in possession and Adam was outclassed. Bellamy drove us forward and had decent shots, Gerrard gave us decent tempo and attempted one-twos with Maxi who nearly scored following a clever turn in the box.

03 Jan 2012 21:49:53
we badly need a striker and right winger with pace or else we dont have a chane of getting 4th spot

We need a strong, pacey midfielder like Sissoko, Yaya is an example of what power in midfield brings. We also need a quality striker that is on the move constantly trying to get in behind and making space. If you can name a right winger that makes pin point passes we should buy them but who could we possible have a chance of buying?

03 Jan 2012 21:49:21
It was always going to be tough at the Etihad and we made it much more difficult for ourselves. Let's write it off as a bad night at the office against a better side.

03 Jan 2012 21:49:05
I'm still shocked that we miss Lucas. 2 years ago I would be shot for saying that.

On a lighter note, we played well. But as we all know our problem is scoring, if we put away our chances god knows what the result would have been.

Really need a striker or two, even three.

Worst performance i have watched this season i think, Reina at fault for first, why did Johnson have to come from far post to try and cut Yaya's run for the second, when it should have been Henderson or Agger. Terrible passing again, especially from Adam and Kuyt, and did not realise Spearing was playing until the second half. Crossing is appalling and why do we have to always go for the long high ball when Carroll is playing, he is supposed to be just as good on the ground. Where do we go from here? Kenny has a few problems to sort out, but some of the players need to step, specially the new boys.

Carrol reminds me of one of those iron men in crosby beach i.e legs cemented to the ground. His movement and reading of the game is awful.

03 Jan 2012 21:46:38
Damage done first half never really recovered. Showed good signs when going forward just lacked cutting edge once again. For long periods of this game we were the better team. Just cant weigh up Downing at the moment. He seems to lack that bit of confidence to beat his man and carry on forward.
I may be wrong with this next bit but I feel the younger and less established players feel frightened to carry the ball more than five yards.
Stay positive guys!!!

03 Jan 2012 21:46:31
Very good tactics by Man City tonight. Rested the entire team, and still won 3 - 0.

So you didnt see the line up then person ?

I meant cynically that City didn't even show up to play and still walked out comfortable winners. Their only 'star' was kompany.

03 Jan 2012 21:46:21
Surely eds you go to agree that we are in desperate need of 2 strikers this january window, with Suarez out for 8 games and Carroll just not upto the mark, we looked tonight against City that if we played all night we would have never scored!! {Ed005's Note - Carroll isn't getting any service. I'm personally confident a run of games and good service will do Carroll the world of good.}

03 Jan 2012 21:46:16
We just aren't clinical in front of goal and that's the only difference between us and a team of mercenary superstars.

We should be proud of our effort and heart today.

We need a fast winger and a goal scoring striker to challenge the league

03 Jan 2012 21:45:53
Can't defend downing or Adam anymore they both need to be dropped

Mat lfc

And carroll...

What's there to defend? This was by far the worst performance this season. Now if anyone says we can win a game against the top 4 without Suarez they really don't know how poor the rest of the squad is. No quality, no creativity and hardly any skill. Bellamy was the only threat to City and that says a lot about this poor Liverpool squad. KK is the man to take us forward but he'll be the first to admit Downing and Hendo were expensive mistakes. I won't mention Carroll since he's had a lot of stick already (and you can't blame him if the service is poor). The only solution is buy the type of players City have bought. Otherwise, it's hoping we can once again be the Liverpool of old. It's isn't going to happen simply by hoping. I guess I'll never see a Liverpool team winning the EPL in my time. Shocking thought that is. {Ed001's Note - don't talk wet, the Spurs performance was the worst of the season, this one wasn't even that bad to anyone that has any clue about footie.}

03 Jan 2012 21:45:26
I know this is a rumours page but everyone else is commenting on the game. It's quite simple, we are awful shrn Carroll plays. Plan A is to try and get crosses in for Carroll which are failing to do over and over and over again and apparently seem uninterested in a plan B. We were so much better last year from January when Carroll was injured. It's a shame because it's not his fault but we need to cut our losses and go back to a pass and move style where our front line interchanges with one two short passes in triangles rather than hoofing into the box for Carroll to try and make something of it. Compare this to Gilgamesh away last season. Dear god we have gone so far backward its untrue!

Livermule

By the way it should have said fulham away last season. Bloody iPhone! Sorry for the other mistakes I've just noticed, bit tricky on the phone! :)

03 Jan 2012 21:45:13
its almost like liverpool didnt want to play the last 10 minutes. we were against 10 men shud have done better.

Do you not realise we do not have a goal scorer oh my god some people

Think i was watching a different match!
We had the majority of the play.. only thing we couldnt do (again) was get a decent ball in to Carroll or score from another position!
When their CB is man of the match it pretty much says it all..
Mistake by Reina for 1st, Mistake by Johnson for 2nd and dodgy Pen awarded for the 3rd..
We need a striker that can play off Carroll.. He was up top alone with 4 defenders the whole game! Nothing much he can do...
ItsNotRockerScience

Mate did u watch the game or what. at that time we had world class players on the pitch. is gerrard not a goal scorer, bellemy? we shud have scored. we were unlucky fair enough. but some players in the team need to play better. much better.

03 Jan 2012 21:44:36
WE NEED TO GIVE KING KENNY ANOTHER 100MILL PLUS TO SIGN PLAYERS TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING!

And they all need to be QUALITY signings and not championship material.

And give the boys light blue shirts as well?

After giving his other signings half a season i wouldnt trust him not to waste it more over priced mediocre players

I think 'MARQUE' signings are what we need hehe...

Cheers
Squeky

03 Jan 2012 21:44:13
For those of you saying we've played well tonight. Get real, city have let us have the ball where there comfortable and company has had Carroll in his pocket. To slow and clueless

Not fair mate. Games are decided by fine margins and we conceded at bad times with three soft goals. If downing takes his chance we would have won, we are a good team, we just need to finnish better.

have faith

Must be a successful ex epl manager to have such credible knowledge.

Maybe if Daglish leaves his post then you should apply.

I love experts

Agree we carried no threat what so ever tonight

Just being honest. How many times would Pepe let that one in out of ten? We are a good side. City were surprised at how we dominated at times, shame there was no end product, which has been the story of the season so far. If we get the first goal we wouldn't be having this conversation..

Im the first to moan if we play bad but no way are city 3-0 better than us. We will beat them in the cup. Remember this post

Gazman

03 Jan 2012 21:43:21
Poor result but let's face it Yaya Toure and Kompany were awesome for City - if we had two players like that tonight we'd have wiped the floor with City.

We need someone whos clinical in front of goal and someone else who can cross a ball.

ACHILLES.

03 Jan 2012 21:42:45
Said at startve game=wrong side.Shouldve had Downing on right, not played Kuyt,Maxi on left.Shouldve searted Bellamy, then took off and rested.Anyhow done now.But i truely despair of those who cant see we need more creativity and a forward. There for all to see.We aint far off,but as weve proven time and again-pocession wont win games, umless ypu have the clinical personnel to finish

I dispair as well mate agree totally but its like talking to the wall how can those disagree about flair its a beautiful part of the game and yet they disagree

Oh yeah if we had have started with exactly who you wanted we would have won for sure. ha

03 Jan 2012 21:42:12
This is not a slag off Carroll post.

I believe that as we are unable to provide crosses in that suit his style of play we'd do better playing kuyt as the lone striker as Carroll is ungainly when we play it to feet and seems to pick the wrong pass. He played excellently for Newcastle who played to his strengths but we persist with playing our wingers on the wrong wings for them to get crosses in.

Kuyt is a worse option

03 Jan 2012 21:41:31
This is just embarrasing... Its gonna be a long January

About time to buy a real goalscorer! But WHO?

Aggerfan

Darren Bent

Roberto Soldado.

03 Jan 2012 21:41:16
I'm concerned, despite playing well, we are 3-0 down against city with 10 men and it doesn't look like we are going to score!

We have been made to look average both defensively and attacking! Hopefully this will highlight to KK and DC that we need to get some quality players in!

Red Legend01

The poorest one's tonight were bought in 2011!
Vic {Ed001's Note - Johnson wasn't bought in 2011 and nor was Kuyt or Pepe. All 3 had a bit of a mare tonight.}

03 Jan 2012 21:41:14
A man down. Adam Johnson hits the post. Could be 4 - 0 for City. This is painful viewing. We never looked like scoring once during the game, even though City essentially let us have the ball the entire game. No January transfers will rescue us. Could be a long spring.

03 Jan 2012 21:41:04
No end product again tonight! def need a new striker asap in this transfer window!
we are goint to struggle without suarez in the team! get a striker in now kenny!!

03 Jan 2012 21:40:55
Really couldnt care less that we are playing well when we are down 3 0 when overall we have been the better team

03 Jan 2012 21:40:22
Henderson is awful, never creates or moves forward with the ball, just a nothing player

Did he give the ball away? No. His job is to keep the ball and keep it flowing. He did his job efficiently. {Ed001's Note - he played a great throughball to Downing at the start of the match, Downing should really have scored.}

Aart from the brilliant pass made to downing or did you forget

He does nothing, he gets the ball, s**ts himself and passes it 5 feet, there's just no point to him. {Ed001's Note - so Henderson is the latest boo boy target then? Show the lad some support, he is young and learning, last thing the team needs is idiots, er I mean 'supporters', getting on the back of those trying to find their feet.}

Johnson was brutal tonight. Thought downing and Adam were really ineffective. Richards owned downing but bellamy ran him ragged. We are only going to improve

Dar88

He's not good enough at present Ed and you should know that
Vic {Ed001's Note - why? Because you say so? He never had a particularly good game, but he was far from the worst player on the pitch. Hard to be a creative midfielder with a lack of movement from your team mates, and you should know that, right?}

03 Jan 2012 21:40:13
The problem with Liverpool is that we only ever have 2 world class players at a time. now its Gerrard and Suarez. The one time we had more was when we finished second uner Rafa, the next season we were back down to 2 again.

03 Jan 2012 21:40:12
say again how much to put this side togther!!and we get this top 4 i know new year but that aint going to happen!alot of question need to be asked another hiding have we improved cause am not seeing much!good point a carroll!

03 Jan 2012 21:39:46
No fluency, no shape, old style tactics that worked in the eighties, but it's 2011. Players who are only interested in earning an easy large wage. No european football again. Fenway Sports will be wondering what the hell they have let themselves in for. Yes there will be some responses to this post questioning my loyalty. My loyalty is not in question, I will follow LFC wherever and whenever, but my reallity does not need checking.

Tell us what the 'eighties tactics' are your referring to .

03 Jan 2012 21:39:09

Is there something in Glenn Johnsons contract that says he has GOT to play because he is by far the WORST RB in the PL.
One thing which is 100% certain is that in the summer Pepe Riena WILL leave LFC,beacause a top 4 finish is an impossibility

Alan50

He was to blame for 1st goal which changed the game,

I couldnt care less what pepe reina thinks pal if he wants to go we will replace him simple he should concentrate more on not giving sloppy goals away b4 leaving us.

Kuyt and pepe were to blame kuyt tried a skill and lost the ball and pepe well i dont even know what he was doing

03 Jan 2012 21:36:35
can we please put these torres rumours to bed macca are we slightly interested in this player.

03 Jan 2012 21:36:29
this performance sais it all
1 we need a new cb after all
2 we need a new cm
3 we need a new winger
4 we need a new cf
and was doni not bought to keep reina on his toes ? if so next week we will see him introduced {Ed005's Note - What an idiot. Skrtel has been excellent all season as has Agger. Toure dived for the penalty so stop being such a fickle mindless person.}

Hopeless and hopeless...no other way to describe today's performance. Can't see how this team is going to score...not even 11 against 10. Humiliating.

Just not happened for us tonight, 1 goalie error, 1 defensive slip, one penalty that never was, though the games has shown we need a couple of players with pace and skill! Frustrating to see Carroll not getting anything he can really attack!

El Diablo!

Hey ed. When somebody puts across their point, you very often call them idiots. People are allowed to express their opinions without, in my opinion, a non Liverpool supporter like yourself, calling them names. {Ed005's Note - And where did you come to the conclusion I wasn't a Liverpool fan? And excuse me for calling a poster an idiot, the abuse we receive from you lot on a daily basis is quite shocking at times so don't expect us to be all happy clappy 24/7. There's opinion and there's just downright fickle.}

Overall a good performance we just need a bloody centre forward

Derek

To be fair Ed 3 of his points are correct

Chris in Tamworth

Ed the defence is sound but we do need a good winger and striker and stevie g back fit. I think a lot more money needs to be spent before we can even talk about getting into even the europa league

03 Jan 2012 21:36:29

OMG are you serious....

We have been beaten tonight by a far superior team ( at the moment ) and on another night with a bit of luck with Downing's finish could have been alot better. Add to that the fact we were without our star man in Suarez and could only rely on Super G and Bellamy for 30 mins, you have to be deluded to think we need to replace nearly half our first team. Remember we have done winders this year under the management of KK. Just a LITTLE tweak here and there and we'll be there I reckon! C'mon let's stay right behind them.
Village

Ed005 is spot on to many fans on here won't take the good times and the bad,to say we are bad at the bk is a joke one the best defences in the epl

Ste Liverpool

I love how Liverpool fans think that after one mistake a player is terrible. We don't need a new CB. The goals were all really lucky to some extent and shouldn't have been conceded. We don't need a new CM as we have Gerrard coming back to full fitness very shortly. I agree we need a new winger and a new striker but to say we are terrible is stupid!

03 Jan 2012 21:36:25
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

i didnt expect to win..............but a 3-0....whopping.....

liverpool are not that bad..................are they eds?

anything wrong tonight that could of changed?

tactically inept today anyone??

Don't worry they aren't better than us by much at all.
1st goal = unusual mistake by Pepe.
2nd goal = silly/unusual defending mistake-ish.
3rd goal = silly/unusual glasses worn by referee that caused him to be temporarily blind and unable to spot blatant diving

Don't worry, I'm just an annoyed angry fan, and when I wake up in the morning I'll be wondering why I wrote this - my annoyance gets the better of me ;)

Better team lost pal

03 Jan 2012 21:36:21
you all need to calm down, you speak asif we are expected to win every game 5 - 0, this city team is pretty remarkable, credit where credit is due, 2 mistakes and 2 down.. then a penalty,

people want kenny out.. why... after one loss.. pffft how fickle can u be.

Completely dominating 2nd half, yet 3 0 down. Wtf skrtel, he just lost us the match with that clumsy tackle, just when manc got a player red carded

Match was already over chap. Won't score one goal, let alone two

Are u watchin the game, skrtel never touched him u tit. skrtel was fantastic today. 1 mistake from reina, 1 from johnno n a dodgy penno. problem is were not creatin enuff clear chances. downing was poor today, and adam. carroll tried hard but he's so lackin in vonfidence. we need creative midfielder n striker, n left winger.

Dominating game in 2nd half? Which part? Useless passes in midfield maybe.

We only have one real problem ! We have NO-ONE who can consistently put the ball in the net..and little else matters!
Puzzled

03 Jan 2012 21:35:11
Adam an downing r 2 donkeys an bring nothing to the team! An reina a so called great penalty stopper when was the last time he saved 1 he's making to many blunders this season! An the team r just paceless an we need at Least 3 signings

Wait a minute... you are having a go at Pepe for not saving a penalty? In particular THAT penalty which was perfectly taken? mate you know nothing

It wasn't just the nights pen! Which was well taken but when was the last time pepe the great penalty stopper saved 1

03 Jan 2012 21:34:53
Man City go a man down and then score. We will still not get one, even a man up for 20 minutes. Liverpool simply not in same league as City. City squad are exhausted and still schooling us.

03 Jan 2012 21:33:47
We've played well and don't deserve to be losing 3-0, highlights our weaknesses which is a good thing and hopefully will be addressed.

Hessle Red YNWA

Playing well? How do you figure? Tossing the ball around with no forward progression and then giving it away in the final third. How is that playing well? Looked to me like Man City are resting their players, and still dominating scoreline.

03 Jan 2012 21:33:34
On the plus side, at least people will stop with the unrealistic title aspirations. We are a work in progress, be 3 years minimum before we see any titles coming to anfield.

I'm not that fussed about this game to be honest, its more important we win the games against the lower placed teams.

Ha ha another fan who believes in 2or 3 years spearing v silva lol no suarrez tonight no chance

Not true. We tried several crosses. Unfortunately, nobody has ability to cross.

Carroll did well today. kuyt, I can't understand why he started. Downing is not doing any good. When would he play in any decent cross. he was thought to be expert of that. Overall, we did play decent at times. But its a truly deserved victory to them. gutted. may, we come back stronger. YNWA

Wow i am getting such negative response when i am actually telling the truth. we got useless players and that is final.

so disappionted in Downing, aint done nothing since he arrived

Couldnt agree more. A left footed winger playing on the right, who instead of crossing the ball cuts back and rolls the ball to johnson, leaving carroll out of position after he has already begun his run. Looked scared witless when on the left and facing richards.

Absolutely amazed by the posters saying Gerrard and Bellamy should have started, obviously haven't a clue. Bellamy will struggle to play consecutive games and Gerrard is on his way back from a host of injury worries. These players need managing and that's exactly what Kenny is doing. You would play them 90 minutes every week and potentially have their careers over in months! Clowns

DOOOHH you can start them, and take them off

RedTurk, move to another team. Your lack of support is frankly embarrassing and is just becoming an irritant to I'm sure; everyone here. Support the players, yes tonight hasn't been our game but we're playing Manchester City who have the best goal difference in the league and haven't lost at home this season, so please. Stop expecting 5-0 or whatever, support the players or jog on.

I actually think we've played well. Johnson was been awful tho. At fault for the second ball, lacking in forward play, passing terrible. Can't wait for Kelly once johnsons been shifted.

Just thought i would get it in at the moment in the 55th minute, that despite the 2 - 0 score line or what ever it finishes at, i would like to say we are doing well, controlling the midfield battle, someones moaning about jay spearing, i think the problems are the more "senior" players, adam kuyt and johnson are all poor tonight, with a fit gerrard lucas suarez, and the players coming on in leaps and bounds I.E Henderson, carrol winning EVERY DECENT ball put in, we can look forward to a brighter future!! I continue to be baffled by the lack of starts by Maxi Rodriguez! Dirk Kuyt has been poor all season for me and Maxi has been one of our bright sparks, he should start more games.

We are the better team in this game vs Man City atm, Bellamy, Maxi and Gerrard on for Downing, Kuyt and Adam could really change the game for me.

Man City have a quality squad. They battered Spurs at WHL, they battered Man U at OT. Did Harry get the sack? Did Fergie? No. & where are Spurs & Man U in the league?

03 Jan 2012 21:01:25
Half time report -

Johnson, Reina, were poor. Reina completely at fault for first goal and Johnson's poor marking of Toure coupled with more flapping from Reina for second goal.

Adam needs to be taken off set piece duty until further notice. Henderson looks nervous, which poses a problem because I would like to take Adam off for Gerrard but Henderson also needs to improve or come off.

Downing seems to be much better when on the left, keeps attacks more fluid when he doesnt have to double back onto his strong foot.

Carroll has had a good game so far, won plenty of headers and worked hard.

We pass it around a lot but we need to create more clear chances, we've had 2 in first half and we are not gonna get many more, so they have to be real chances. Need to pick up the loose balls around city area, thats where gerrard comes in...

Spearing has been ok, not really done much wrong. Enrique has been good as usual.

Changes?

Gerrard for henderson, Bellamy for kuyt and change to a 433 with Downing and Bellers playing off Carroll. Spearing sitting with Adam and Gerrard in a semi free role.

we were doomed from the minute kenny put team sheet out ! how can we all see that the team chosen isnt good enough and he cant, adam is shocking as ive stated for the last 5 weeks kuyt is past it we should have played stevie and bellamy instead and im not being funny downing needs to buck his ideas up as fans will not tolerate many more poor performances off him like the last few week ! make the changes early or not at all come on kenny use your head ! early goal might change things touch wood!

03 Jan 2012 20:59:57
Now, now gentlemen. We have been the better side at the home of the top team in the league. We have looked good on the ball. Mistakes have cost us. The goalkeeping error is very odd. Very odd, did seem like that ball moved very peculiarly. 2nd one. Definitely should have done better. They are a powerhouse side though. Kay has warmed to it. Took him 20 mins. Jordan has looked impressive, unlike newcAstle game. Downing really needs to have some target practice.

Having said that, we have passed the ball better, and our confidence getting out of pressured situations is quite brilliant at times. Shows we have improved drastically on the ball. We need a threat. Kenny should go for it, it's a loss as it stands. Let's try to discover some fight. If we can come back in this game we will be looking good this season.

Keep the faith lads! Get behind your team!

D-Day (1892)

True, we look competitive. But what good is it? We don't take our chances. Good teams do. I am just as frustrated as usual.

03 Jan 2012 20:59:52
shocking to leave suarrez out tonite people say lfc did the right thing we are a laughing stock everybody knows without suarrez we are crap not only crap brainless as well to leave out our best player i wish to god pool fans realise suarrez has carried liverpool this season and yet we wave him good bye for 8 games i will ask you pool fans what position will we be in the time he returns i dread the outcome and fans say he will be back against utd and will score a hatrick delusional dreamers kk has alot to answer for this disgracefull announcement you played right into the hands of city tonite disgacefull

You gave yourself away when you said "you" played into the hands of City. Jog on lad.

Matt S - YNWA

Yeah youre right must be all those goals Suarez is banging in. Stop using the Suarez thing as an excuse.

His ban actually started tonight coz we didnt appeal to the 8 game ban so he COULDN'T have played anyway.

Original poster ok ye are right we dont need suarez lol

03 Jan 2012 20:59:30
The last time Liverpool came from two goals down to win a PL match was away at Man City in October 2008 (W 3-2). Repeat?

Another dreamer i see

03 Jan 2012 20:59:28
Im not the one for jumping on peoples back when they are playing bad and says to get rid of players but I think its time for Kuyt to go now hes just not offering anything!

03 Jan 2012 20:59:12
Does anyone else think that Kuyt is an unintelligent player. A useful player no doubt especially with his work rate but he is not the sort of player that can start or come off the bench and make a difference IMO. Bellamy is much better, however, I am sure he is being rested tonight.

I dont see what Kuyts problem is with not playing, when he watches back the match and sees how he plays, giving the ball away, not being on the same wavelength as the rest of the team, he must surely see why!

Sell him in Jan and get a young lad in who can actually make a positive impact on the team!

03 Jan 2012 20:58:43
Only a handful of players looking worthy of the shirt tonighht so far.

Carroll, Spearing, Downing, Agger, Enrique and Skrtel.

Reina poor for both goals. Kuyt poor consistently. Johnson looks lazy, and Henderson and Adam look lost.

Carroll great hold up play, winning a lot of headers, but needs faster players around him. Spearing has been great, tracking back and hasn't given the ball away once. Downing has made some good runs but needs to have a better finish to his attacks. Agger, Skrtel and Enrique have been solid but they must feel let down by Reina so far here.

All in all, Come on lads, those playing well and those off the pace, Us fans believe in all of you and know you can win us this game!

Gerrard and Bellamy need to come on sooner rather than later though!

YNWA! (Adam)

Stop being delusional we have no 1 to score goals

03 Jan 2012 20:58:23
Slack defending for both our goals - shame as I think we can match City. We have played ok in patches but having some pace in the side could make all the difference.

Gerrard n Bellamy if fit between now n 60th min. Don't think the game is beyond us but we have 2 b much sharper.

D 2308

03 Jan 2012 20:57:19
Let's not be defeatist here - city are not that good we have just made them look good for 45 minutes now let's make them look poor in the second half - Gerrard on for Kuyt, a couple of goals for Carroll and bobs your uncle.

03 Jan 2012 20:56:56
wish Downing would play like he at least gives a damn.

The Liver Bird

03 Jan 2012 20:55:16
Downing shouldve done better

03 Jan 2012 20:53:59
its half time now, all i can say is "sell kuyt, spearing, henderson, downing and Carroll". i knew that Kenny was going to mess the formation. also the Suarez ban has made the situation worst. i hope we don't get beaten 4-0 or 5-0. if so then I'll say sack Kenny.

03 Jan 2012 20:56:43
Typical.... Downing wastes good chance then Reina makes horrific mistake.

When are we going to get any luck ?

Billericay Red

03 Jan 2012 20:55:58
Unlucky to be losing but playing nice football and people have already started flagging every player on the pitch off. thanks for your "loyal" support. Yours sincerely K Dalglish!!!?

03 Jan 2012 20:55:43
Kuyt's having a shocker but we have actually played well. I think we're the better team to be honest

03 Jan 2012 20:55:25
Im afraid to say it but we've invested in to many players that are not top 4 material.We have;
a defender that cant defend
a winger who cant cross a ball
midfielders who cant pass
a striker who cant score,
but on the plus side we have Kuyt who cant do any of the above but can run all day.

03 Jan 2012 20:53:31
Let me guess Kenny should be sacked! Pepe is not lfc standard, its Andy's fault we are 2-0 down. Instead of moaning and whinging about the same old sh1te on here go kick the dog. All the best.

KNEE JERK

03 Jan 2012 20:50:43
In fairness, we haven't done a lot wrong bar Reina spilling it and losing a man at a corner. If Gerrard has 45 in him we can get back into it and get a draw. Henderson looks great, as does Carroll. Kuyt looks spent and I don't know what the hell we can do with Downing, just not performing.

-Shane.

03 Jan 2012 20:47:48
I think we have been the better team in the first half really unlucky to be losing by 2 goals. I really cant see city winning the league. There is definitely something ine the game for us.

Mighty reds

03 Jan 2012 20:46:16
no wonder carroll doesnt score we got no width cant cross twenty mill on downing and we paid money for adam!!!!!!april fool day cum early!but seriously where is the playmaker everything goes down the middle!get off carroll back jesus how can you expect him too score we dnt give him anything"!i think there should be asked at top!!!

03 Jan 2012 20:41:15
Why are we afraid to shoot from distance? Thats why we look more dangerous with gerrard on, we are a threat from distance. Not one player is threatening from distance.

Rewflo

Cos weve tried to walk it in all season

03 Jan 2012 20:54:58
Two goals down, no Suarez. It looks like a mistake using Jay Spearing. This isn't a game for kids.

Playing 5 in midfield and being so defensive hasn't helped us.

Are you watching the game moron, Spearing is the best player on our side so far tonight. Go watch the match and get off the live BBC commentary, the Eds have posted links.

YNWA! (Adam)

Like to see Gerrard in start of 2nd half. and Bellamy too. but Kenny always wait last minute that not going to help for sure.

03 Jan 2012 20:52:38
Wow. I hate to say it but rewflo is right. Its not the 1st time reina has cost us in a big game. And no matter what anyone says, its our big money signings that have let us down time and time again this season. We all know which 3 im talking about. They've had enough chances as far as im concerned and they need to start improving in a big way. And fast! Sorry if i sound pissed, which i am,but ive just walked quite a distance at 10pm at night to watch this game and made a special effort for that crap. Im on my way back home now in the dark. Cant stand to watch that even though we have played well at times. Goodnight all. I'll be reading the site for updates.

03 Jan 2012 20:52:11
Kenny........big-big mistake not starting Bellars and Stevie.......no shape no width and no one picking up AC's few knock-downs Adam/Downing and Johnson way off the pace tonight, it seems no-one on the pitch knows how to feed AC....... Bad mistake by Pepe......cant see anything from this only a hiding if we don't change our shape and fast for the 2nd half

03 Jan 2012 20:51:55
Were losing 2-0 atm dont worry though.i think were playing well a reina mistake n johnson let his man go for the corner.we had them pinned back for 15 mins of that half im expecting a briliant second half performance.hopefully at least a draw.
Come on you reds
Tommo

Pinned back? fair enough but where is the final ball/cross/pass. where is the pace? bellers shud have started.

03 Jan 2012 20:51:10
I said two weeks ago we have the most overrated keeper and yet again He needs to go at end of season
and get some cash we have had the best out of him and buy the keeper from Swanse

City were there for the taking tonight but we are so nervous going forward

and when will Adam have some confidence to take a decent free kick

downing needs a month in the reserves

Henderson & Spearing playing well

Cheers K.O.B

Get a grip!

If you think getting rid of Pepe is the answer then your very much mistaken!

03 Jan 2012 20:51:04
any chance barca are interested in swapping carroll kuyt and downing for messi, pedro and sanchez?

03 Jan 2012 20:49:49
urgh! missing a lot of pace. especially outwide. i thought downing was quick! come on kk get on bellers and stevie. lets not forget istanbul 3 2 pool ft

03 Jan 2012 20:49:48
Poor Half and it could have been worse but lets get behind team, bring on Gerrad and Bellamy and at least give a go. Kuyt and Adam Off.

Triple change at half time needed. Maxi, bellamy and gerrard should come on.

03 Jan 2012 20:46:22
this is the game andy carroll shines.... yeh right! RedTurk

2-0 down and guess who's come out to play......

What did he do wrong? Did he fluff a chance that Suarez wouldve scored? Better yet, did he get a chance?

Rewflo

After watching a dissapointing first half it's clear andy carrol couldn't hit the side of a barn with a banjo - it's time he was gone!

03 Jan 2012 20:46:08
I know as a Liverpool fan, it's high blasfamy to criticise any players, and I understand that we should be behind all players 100% of the time for the good of the franchise.
However there comes a time when you have to fold, regardless of the money you have contributed to the pot. Charlie Adam is not good enough for Liverpool, and with players like him playing for us, the team will never improve, only stagnate

03 Jan 2012 20:45:06
I can see what Kenny was thinking with the defensive lineup. Failed miserably. How about bring on Gerrard and Bellamy, and take off Kuyt and Spearing and have a go. Game is over, so only a miracle will rescue a point now.

I must admit, Carroll is looking up for it. Downing sharp too. Henderson made one good pass then followed up with 7 mistakes, including a botched free kick. Why doesn't Adam take free kicks?

Coop

Downings poor

03 Jan 2012 20:41:40
I can't hide my frustration with Johnson. He is not a RB, can't tackle and looks lost at times & his delivery of the ball is also poor. Are people serious about the clause in his contract? If so, KK & SC must be gutted picking the team every week because the guy looks as if he needs a stint on the bench to wake him up.

03 Jan 2012 20:41:27
well i just hope kenny and the board no what they are doing cause looking at us tonight we will be lucky to win another game befour saurez gets back !! yet again a mile behind the manchester clubs !!

03 Jan 2012 20:44:35
Shame. Played quite well. Shocker by pepe. No luck once again...

Come on reds!!!!!!! 3-2

Where not playing our game. We should just gone 4-4-2

03 Jan 2012 20:44:24
One bright spot - Carroll has looked more dangerous tonite than in any other game I've seen him. He just needs a goal.

Don't agree, he like sluggish and lacking game time. his failure to move when attacking moves are on has been disappointing

03 Jan 2012 20:44:04
Actually playing well especially Carroll really impressed with him tonight come on you reds! Y.N.W.A

03 Jan 2012 20:40:27
Why the hell is kuyt on the pitch he constantly gives the ball away as for downing he is useless.

I think downing has played well so far

Agreed mate- I cannot wait to the back of kuyt- nothing personal but terrible player who adds nothing- I'd rather see a youth player given a chance- couldnt play any worse.
Jason

03 Jan 2012 20:40:00
I don't like to moan during a match but our right hand side is abysmal. Kuyt and Johnson are giving the ball away too cheaply. Gerrard on for Kuyt at half time.

And what are we doing giving away free headers for two corners in a row?

JRG

Carroll is really isolated up there if that system is to work we need support from midfield. Gerrard on for Kuyt or Adam cuz right now we are set up to stop them not play our own game.

GuvTOB

I have been saying the same thing for ages , our right side is so weak , and both goals have come from a right-sided players mistake , why are we not giving Kelly a game , and Kuyt is on a downward curve , best to put him in for a part exchange soon , been a great player , ha this game will put city nicely top of the league . redforever .

03 Jan 2012 20:38:40
All you fans that told me today i was wrong about them donkeys kenny bought like carroll adam hendo downing well i told you so,watch the match and see them play

Why is there so many moanbags on this site get behind the team

03 Jan 2012 20:38:21
Even if Gerrard comes on, to expect us to score three in one match against a team thats conceded 4 all season at home is unrealistic.

We be lucky now to get a draw.

03 Jan 2012 20:38:01
We just have absolutely no flair in the team with out Suarez. For £80 mil on attacking players spent in the last 12 months, thats is criminal.

Ash

03 Jan 2012 20:37:36
City surely now have sealed it. Who'd score for us? C'mon, too disapponted to watch whats going on. Creating some but no end product and now they've got two. Gutted.

03 Jan 2012 20:37:18
Kenny is right to have Gerrard on the bench to unleash him when city tire, however it might be too late by then and the game may well be lost.

03 Jan 2012 20:35:48
Found wanting, simple as that. It's over for LFC. They clung on to big club status for as long as they could, but it's over. RIP.

Enough of that sort of b!!!cks. This is when being a true red diverges from being an occasional fan when it suits you.

03 Jan 2012 20:43:21
sky sports news liverpool not going to appeal suarez ban....after the way the team wore those t,shirts what does it say?

For me , wearing those tee shirts , was as much to show the Fa that we have taken way too much crap from them . redforever

03 Jan 2012 20:41:56
Adam and kuyt off. bellamy and gerrard on please

taffytel

We would be a decent team if we got rid of adam, henderson and carroll, what does henderson do he can not tackle , shoot straight or find a decent position , would love to be wrong but

03 Jan 2012 20:33:54
I am not manager, but why, mark that WHY??? is Henderson taking the free kicks? Ridiculous! Ofcourse he didn't score!

It is 1 - 0, but I promise it end 5 - 0

Who should be taking them? Every free kick adam has struck for us has been very poor.

How many did Charlie scored from them, this season.?? Only Gerrard and Bellamy have got them. And they both are not on, tonight. Shocked, why Bellamy isn't there. its over, now. Gutted. Hope, we can recover from this in the coming weeks.

Because he's our best player tonight in my opinion pk

Agree mate and we deserve it no suarrez no chance i hope we r hammered we r disgraceful to anounce wat we did tonite fuming

03 Jan 2012 20:33:26
Game over

Did you say this in 2005 champs lge final?

The league isnt important with our earlier announcement

Technically we are poor compared to the likes of Silva and Yaya Toure. I've said all along...we're far from the finished article and serious investment in class players is still required. Maybe there will be further investment this window but it's clear we need a class player between the lines, a class winger on the right and a strong but technically gifted centre forward. Anything less and we cannot compete with City and Utd. That's the benchmark we need to reach and we're not there.

03 Jan 2012 20:29:08

Terrible team pool have out tonight no no no pace with kuyt adam carroll henderson spearing how the hell are we going to score unless we bring on gearrd and bellamy, very annoyed with that slow slow team selection, you have to have pace in premiership,we will lose tonight

Defo agree abiut kuyt and adam has been poor for awhile think he is xabi but he forgets he is more like barry ferg! Carroll i have to say has been decent.

03 Jan 2012 20:23:08
Why is kuyt on that pitch he hasn't started in any other game with weaker teams but starts against the best team give me strength

03 Jan 2012 20:22:12
Whoever made the decision that suarez should serve his ban from this game should be sacked. It should be that he misses the spurs game. We will beat oldham. We are crap. Dalglish must go now for the good of the football club.(rdred)

Lets see the shortlist for kk replacements then , you joker!

That's utter tripe and you know it.
ND

Unai emery of Valencia. Can work with a low budget. Good team ethic, repsectable manager. Likable and plays good attacking football. {Ed005's Note - We're not in need of a manager though.}

03 Jan 2012 20:19:34
How many of the goals conceded this season have either been keeper mistakes or own goals? It feels like a decent percentage of them. Very unlucky.

03 Jan 2012 20:19:16
so instead of downing putting us 1 up, reina drops a clanger and were 1 down!!!!!!!!

03 Jan 2012 20:16:32
reina again.its getting to the point that im thinking hes doing it so he can leave when we fail for 4th spot!

^ ^ ^ behave yourself......

03 Jan 2012 20:15:54
I got slated for saying that Reina makes errors that cost us goals in important games. Once again he cost a goal in important game from a tame shot which any average goal keeper should save. Just hope it doesnt cost the match.

Rewflo

Are you a keeper are you, and where you in that situation. I would like to see you deal with the pressure that goalkeepers overcome every game. Idiot.

That shot was dropping something wicked - desperate to save. It's just unlucky again! We were all over them for preceding 20 mins.
ND

Seems to get unlucky a fair bit. The ball was body height in the centre of the goal from 20 yards hit with average power. If you dont think any goalie should save that then you probably thought David James was amazing.

rewflo

I'd agree that Pepe may not be having the bets of seasons, but I think there are other areas to worry about, before we start the "get rid of Pepe" campaign!

03 Jan 2012 20:14:24
Kuyt flopped for the first goal...sell him...way past it now...EPL too quick for him.

03 Jan 2012 20:13:43
That in a nutshell is why we will struggle to get fourth a bad miss and a bad goalkeeping error. Pepe is usually so dependable but that's 2 goals we have conceded due to his errors in the past month or so.

03 Jan 2012 20:12:05
Hi Eds,

Have you got any links from where I can watch the game live. I'm currently abroad.

Cheers.

03 Jan 2012 20:11:28
Sort it out Kuyt!!

03 Jan 2012 20:11:27
1-0 already. This could end up a route. Liverpool need to grow a pair, both on and off the pitch.

03 Jan 2012 20:11:26
Oh no Pepe!

03 Jan 2012 20:10:57
wtf is kuyt doing

03 Jan 2012 20:08:20
Downing, brilliant effort, very, very unlucky, could this be his and Andy Carroll's game?!

maka

Nope.

maka

Downing won't do any favours for both Carroll and himself if he keeps bursting forward only to play a backward pass as he's too afraid to take on his man. Carroll needs crosses, Downing needs confidence. Just go for it lads.

I disagree with my own post.

hello ed
with swarez starting his ban even though i did not think he did anything wrong but that said

have liverpool got someone lined up cos i dont think they let him start his ban without having someone lined up {Ed001's Note - an 8 match ban does not affect transfer plans! Why would anyone base a transfer policy on such a nonsensical premise? You wouldn't buy a player to replace a hamstring tear or a hernia op affected player, they both take as long to recover from as this ban will.}

03 Jan 2012 19:58:50

how about something good reds win 2-1

Well considering all the stick De Gea has had from liverpool fans bet you wish you had him after that one

03 Jan 2012 19:57:43
Not impressed with Bellamy and Gerrard not starting.And wouldve put Downing right,Maxi left,dropping Kuyt.Still come on you Reds {Ed001's Note - Bellamy has a knee problem that requires management and can;t play every game. Gerrard is returning from a long injury lay off and needs to be eased in. Why are you not impressed?}

Rushing Gerrard back could be a disaster so I agree with the ed tbh

Nope. Be good if we bought a decent striker instead of Torres

Like Carrol lol

03 Jan 2012 19:50:48
Eds, is it an option that we could loan Suarez out to say Milan, and have Pato (or another striker from another team) on loan in return? Or does the ban apply everywhere?

Michael Bland {Ed001's Note - ban applies to all first team matches.}

Thats why he was banned when he first came to liverpool, because of biting that player, the ban continues over regardless of what team he plays for.

I am absolutely disgusted with Liverpool tonight!!
Some things transcend football and this was one of them. This is about what's RIGHT or WRONG NOT about what games Suarez might miss! I feel let down by the club as I have spent the last 8 weeks defending the player and the club against what i believe to be unsubstaniated accusations! I may be wrong but I believe the owners have caved in so as to protect revenue streams at home and abroard because as with everything in football today it's all about the almighty DOLLAR!!! Don't know why I am surprised though because football sold it's soul to Murdoch and Sky 20years ago!! Couldn't care less what score it is tonight and I won't be watching it, because if the heirachy at the club don't care about anything but MONEY MONEY MONEY! Why should I.

Disappointed not to see Bellamy starting today after Suarez's dismissal. Two bad news but hope, the end of the day is bringing a great news for us. C'mon lads, you can do it. YNWA {Ed001's Note - Bellers can't play every match, he has to be managed.}

Hello everyone,

First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for all the support I've received these past few weeks. To my family, friends, mates of Uruguayan team and its staff and of course to the Liverpool F.C. (workers, coaches, managers, my teammates, and all who are part of the day-to-day life of this great club), and, of course, all the fans who never once allowed me to feel alone for even a single second throughout all of this. These past days, I have felt the meaning of that support more than ever: You never walk alone.

As many of you know, I was born into a humble family in a working-class neighborhood of a small country. But born and raised with the values of respect, politeness, and sacrifice. My family, from the very first club where I started playing up until my move to Europe, have instilled the values that have shaped the person I am today. Let me be absolutely clear: I've never -- ever -- had a single racial problem with any team mate, player, or person with a skin color or race different from my own. Never.

As a result, I am very upset about what has been said about me in recent weeks, all of which have been very far from the truth. This is further compounded by the helplessness I feel for not having done anything yet being accused of something I did not nor would ever do. In my country, the Spanish word for "black" is a term commonly used and does not symbolise any disrespect, let alone racism. Everything that has been said beyond that is completely and utterly false.

I will comply with the sanction, but with the acquiescence of someone who has not done anything and who feels extremely upset about what has transpired. I'm sorry for the fans and for the teammates who I will not be able to assist in this coming month. This will be very difficult for me.

My only wish is to get back to the stadium and do what I like most again, that is, to play football.

Thank you all very much,
YNWA
Luis Alberto Suarez.

Forgot to add this is from suarez twitter

03 Jan 2012 19:34:15
I don't know what you lot think, but personally I'm happy that the club and Suarez have released their statements indicating that they will accept the player ban without appeal. Hopefully it's 'closure' to a damaging time for the club and player, but the fight against racism in the sport must continue but unfortunatly Liverpool Football Club will never be treated with the respect they deserve. I think we have to be optimistic about this, and consider that this ban might actually come as a blessing in disguise for our little star player as he's ran his balls off in evrey game including world cups and international friendlies...it's only a matter of time before he burns out. At least the little boo-boy shiysters can't give their verbal bile from the terraces and hopefully the club will invest in another cracker in January to compensate for our loss and to suck away the attention of the Manc gutter press.

no bellamy gerrard or suarez (of course)

no pace in the team bar downing........

and no PLAYERS WHO ARE SCORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

guess we are going for the draw aye??

Have some faith and get a grip.

maka

Poster correct sadly as i was.Doesnt take a genius. But judging by those blind on here,it does!

03 Jan 2012 19:24:22
Reason lfc have decided to accept ban is that we have so many games close together now we might as well just see it through. So its two games gone already after Oldham Friday :D Liverpool not buying a striker I dont think we have bellamy Carroll and kuyt! We will be fine lads! Think a right winger is coming in tho.

03 Jan 2012 19:22:27
Liverpool are right not to appeal. The FA would just have used this as an excuse to increase the ban. However, as the LFC statement says, it is a dangerous precedent that the FA have set by banning a player on the basis of disputed comments on the field of play. If you think the play acting and simulation on the field to get an advantage is bad at the moment that's nothing compared to what will happen after this judgement. In a couple of years time we will look back on 31st December 2011 as the day the decline of football as a national game started, mark my words.

03 Jan 2012 19:21:49
Why didn't we confirm it after the city game?

GuvTOB {Ed002's Note - There is nothing sinister about it, the proposal was to minimise any further adverse publicity on the matter and get it dealt with as soon as possible.}

A bit weird this one. If you are correct ed002 & you guess that Suarez won't play against Man Utd then surely Liverpool could have delayed the statement by a few hours until after the Citeh game. It certainly doesn't make sense to make Suarez miss an extra game if he doesn't play against Man Utd. I can understand Suarez not playing against Man Utd/Evra but not waiting until after the Citeh game makes no sense IMO.

The Irish Rover {Ed001's Note - depends on his frame of mind.}

Does this game matter then so

SO that Suarez will be availible for the ManU match. :D
If he played today he wouldn't be able to take his revenge on EVRA.

03 Jan 2012 19:12:08
Hi eds
do you think that in Lverpool not appealing the 8 match ban that this will increase the chances of a player like soldado or podolski coming in at the start of the window
thanks {Ed002's Note - It will make no difference to the plans for January transfers.}

03 Jan 2012 19:11:54
Interesting stance by Liverpool. Best not to appeal as if we beat Oldham on Friday then this throws up another FA cup game before the glut of big matches in Feb/March which means the only league matches he will miss is City tonight, Stoke, Bolton and Wolves and back for Spurs (If we go go through in the cup) if we get knocked out of the cup then his first match back will be against.....yup....United away!!

Personally I think KK has faith in Carroll, I think we need another forward tho. Would be happy with De Jong and potentially a winger in Jan. Cant see any real marquees in Jan. If we qualify for CL then I would expect a name ort two in the Summer.

Let me know what you think eds.

Kosovo Joe

{Ed002's Note - Champions League qualification will change the transfer paradigm in the summer.}

03 Jan 2012 19:10:42
We are disgrace for accepting the ban. We should have brought this to the highest courts available. Evra and utd stitched us up. I hope every liverpool fan never forgets it.(rdred) {Ed002's Note - And thus ...}

Kk the next time evra and ferguson make a complaint . tell them NO COMMENT till we see a lawyer . im afraid we fell for the two card trick .

The worst part is how the all powerful Alex Ferguson (who secretly controls the league) has convinced not only the FA but a completely independant panel to ban suarez.

I hear there is a serious investigation going on regarding the financial crash and Fergie as well as reports (from some seriously deluded liverpool fans) that he may be responsible for this also.

Seriously people can we stop the ridiculous Fergie conspiracy stories, he does not rule the whole footballing world if so why would he make himself lose any games what so ever? Think logically you're making us sound mental.

You cant fight the system it will only bite you in the ass, ruin the player, tarnish the club and destroy the season. No one stiched anyone up its a misunderstanding in a very high presurred sitation that led to allergations that due their nature could not be ignored. LFC have acted in the best interests of the club by accepting the ban in the way they have. If you curb your frustration, sit back and think about the bigger picture, and long term interests of both player and club, you will understand why they have handled it in this way. If not, then once you have matured you perhaps might have better chance of understanding.

03 Jan 2012 19:17:09

all i can say is well done LFc and Luis, let's bite the bullet & miss this month. the main thing is he, they and we know he's not a racist and that's all that matters. by accepting the ban doesn't mean we accept that he's a racist, rather we're looking at the big picture. i'd rather he missed 8 games now and have him for the end of season run in rather than miss poss feb and march as well as carling cup final if we make it.

miss January and have him back & raring to go in his comeback against....Man U 11th Feb! Irony can be so ironic.

we love you luis

The time luis suarrez is back I'm afraid it will be to late chin up maybe in 2 or 3 years time we will challenge again

Before all the mugs out there start the Suarez rumours, in his statement, he has said he can't wait to run out at Anfield again, and is so amazed at the support he has had from the fans, therefore him leaving in Jan, or any time soon, doesn't seem realistic....as well as that most of the pundits and media out there do not know the first thing about racism, as they have never experienced it themselves, and so I would therefore urge all Liverpool fans to back our players, regardless of what the media has to say, as the media are known to make HUGE "mistakes" especially when talking about Liverpool
Kabir

03 Jan 2012 18:56:43

Well done to LFC they nailed the statement and have acted in the interests of the game, whilst still backing our player.

Shame Suarez will miss some important games but i'm sure he will come back stronger and the team will grow in his absence. The presence of Gerrard will guide us through the next 8 games.

We can now move on and look forward to Suarez's first game back - Manchester Utd away on 11th February. ;-) YNWA

I have to say I feel a bit of sympathy towards Suarez, after reading his statement. He does seem very genuine, and it genuinely does seem as if him and LFC and 110 percent sure he didn't do anything. However, do not mistake that I permit racism, as I definitely do not, it makes me feel sick.

This was what i would have done, tried to end the whole case, and get Suarez away from controversy for the time being. Hopefully he will come back fitter, stronger, and hungrier than ever. Ed, do you influence LFC decisions, they have done exactly what you said you would do, LOL.

Eds, so now liverpoolfc and luis suarez has accepted the ban starting immediately, have you read the statement by liverpoolfc and by luis suarez, it seems they are still not totally accepting it, especially in the liverpoolfc statement, whats your take on their wording on this? surely that can still bring repercussions on the matter? your thoughts

p.s Andy Carroll, step up to the plate {Ed002's Note - I am not going to say anything about the wording of it at all.}

03 Jan 2012 18:51:41
Lets look at things realistically here

We are sorted when it comes to our defence, we will not be signing any defenders now.

We have Gerrard, Spearing, Adam, Henderson and Shelvey as our CM's at the moment. Lucas will only be back next season. We have five CM's to accomodate at the moment so any rumours for CM's coming our way are 99% of the time going to be hogwash at the moment.

Out wide we have Downing, Maxi, Kuyt and Bellamy who can be used out wide. Fact is we need a player out wide on the right of midfield. By the looks of it, Kuyt is on his way out (reckon at the start of next season) as he is not the regular he used to be under Rafa. Kenny is using him sparingly and Kuyt is at a age where he wants regular football and sitting on the bench ain't doing his International career any good either so maybe just maybe we will sign a replacement for him.

I believe we have a squad good enough to finish 4th. If we finish in the top four then we can attract better players as we will be in the CL so would it not be a better idea to wait and sign players at the start of next season?

Saying all this though, the only thing we need at the moment is a fox in the box to make our chances of finishing 4th that much more likely. We also do not know how things will end up for Suarez so for me we do need to sign a prolific striker.

03 Jan 2012 18:50:32
Looks like lfc have accepted Suarez' ban and will not be contesting it. This means we need an out and out striker more than ever, as whilst Bellamy can score, carroll can't. Doesn't necessarily mean that he wont (he was very unlucky not to score against Newcastle) but by the time that he does start scoring, we will probably be too far behind to get into champions league next season.

Eds, any news on transfers? I have heard that de jong is imminent, although not sure it's true or not.

Great job by the way eds!

Red Legend01 {Ed002's Note - This will have no impact on the transfer policy.}

03 Jan 2012 18:50:07
Any reason this was announced now and not after the game, which would have allowed Suarez to play.?

So he will be back for man utd game for revenge!..JG.. {Ed002's Note - Blair, I will use this post as a good example of why it is not worth discussing his return at this time. The fans calling for revenge and blood will struggle to understand the career ending approach to the game that would be for Suarez. Much worse are getting deleted of course.}

Ed002 do you not think for a minute the powers that be who timed the decision didn`t take the utd game into consideration?..JG.. {Ed002's Note - Certainly not.}

03 Jan 2012 18:50:07
Liverpool accept the 8 game ban against suarez for making racial comments against patrice evra, he will miss tonights game against city, oldham, man city, stoke, bolton, man city, wolves, spurs and be back for the man united match at old trafford on febuary the 11th {Ed002's Note - Unless the Oldham game is a draw when he would return for Spurs.}

Good point young red.

In theory no i believe a ban is a ban including reserve football ala cantona {Ed001's Note - no, suspensions can be applied differently, Cantona did not get a standard ban, his was a ban from all footballing activity for a period of time, not a ban for a number of matches.}

The owners are in a very difficult situation at the moment and are trying to minimize any potential impact on sponsorship and merchandising.}

03 Jan 2012 18:40:36
First of all I would like to thank everyone so much for all the help and support I have received during these last few weeks.

Thank you to my family, my friends and everybody at LFC (the staff, manager and coaching staff, the directors, my team mates and everyone who is working on a daily basis for this great club) and thank you especially to all the fans who made sure I never felt let down for one second. During those days I understood more than ever what 'You'll Never Walk Alone' means.

Like many of you I was born into a very humble family, in a working class neighbourhood, in a small country. But I was born and raised learning what respect, manners and sacrifice mean. Thanks to my family, from my first club where I started playing, to my transfer to Holland in Europe, I learned the values which made me the person I am now. Never, I repeat, never, have I had any racial problem with a team mate or individual who was of a different race or colour to mine. Never.

I am very upset by all the things which have been said during the last few weeks about me, all of them being very far from the truth. But above all, I'm very upset at feeling so powerless whilst being accused of something which I did not, nor would not, ever do.

In my country, 'negro' is a word we use commonly, a word which doesn't show any lack of respect and is even less so a form of racist abuse.  Based on this, everything which has been said so far is totally false.

I will carry out the suspension with the resignation of someone who hasn't done anything wrong and who feels extremely upset by the events. I do feel sorry for the fans and for my team mates whom I will not be able to help during the next month. It will be a very difficult time for me.

The only thing I wish for at the moment is being able to run out again at Anfield and to do what I like most which is playing football.

Thank you very much.

Hey ed002, you're contradicting yourself there. First you say Suarez moving is an option, and then further up you say his ban will not impact our transfers.
Which is it ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Both actually, but I will spell it out. His ban will not impact Liverpool's planned transfer activities. However should he leave for any reason, there will be a change to the planned transfers. In the same way as Reina leaving would impact the transfers.}

Haha..

i have to be honenst and say that i think bent maybe the best option at the moment. i am not a fan of him at all but the facts are there. he scores goals and thats what we need. as for this talk of torres coming back its not going to happen and a good job to. he wanted to go and got his wish.

breaking news liverpool not contesting suarez ban,so he does not play from tonight,

03 Jan 2012 18:33:23
Something's in the pipeline Suarez leaving maybe?

03 Jan 2012 18:33:13
Suarez out due to Liverpool deciding to not appeal. Starts as of tonight. Game just got a bit harder for tonight boys YNWA

MullyLFC

We are not a one man team, we can beat Citeh without Suarez.

The rest will do him good also.

TIZER RED

Yea but not with Gerrard and Bellamy on bench!

03 Jan 2012 18:33:02
no appeal cant believe it hope suarez can sue evra for defamation of character instead
{Ed002's Note - Of course he can't. That is it - done.}

03 Jan 2012 18:02:43
{Ed002's Note - I don't suppose anyone will trust me, but there will be no Suarez appeal.}

002, now that you've said it, what will you do to the lads which ask "Whats happening with Suarez tonight?"

RenegadeRed {Ed001's Note - she is already crying and sitting in the corner, hugging her knees, while rocking backwards and forwards.}

As i expected, cheers Ed.

Hopefully the abuse you recieve will now stop, somehow i doubt it though.

KT!

Are you responding to something there ed or are you just making a comment? I dont think I've ever seen an ed post something on their own before.

I think people should trust you more ed, you're usually a very reliable informant.

Your humour is amazing Ed002!!

Got to love it, LOL

Liverpool not going to appeal Suarez ban. So Suarez out for 8 games starting tonight.

03 Jan 2012 18:30:25
Liverpool won't appeal. Suarez ban starts today not eligible for man city game

Djjj {Ed002's Note - Hopefully that settles down the bar room barristers now and perhaps I won't get anymore grief on the matter. We should have a sweep to see how long before the "FSG Out" calls begin.}

Grow up ed

They should of backed him, they bottled it

Eds - Why hasn't my info about the stadium been published? The fans deserve to know what's going on

The new stadium is going to be in stanley park - confirmed by Robbie fowler

David Villa rumours are gaining momentum once more and this time there may be genuine movement on this one {Ed002's Note - THis will just be the six month loan I imagine.}

He is out for the rest of the season with a broken leg. Do some research first before you post rubbish!

03 Jan 2012 18:16:38
I'd like to see the side we play against the Toon, but with Suarez on for Bellamy (who surely cannot start two games in four days), and Gerrard in place of Adam.

Anfield Rapstar

Downing on the right, maxi on the left maybe. Or vice verser

03 Jan 2012 18:11:38
Okay Comrades! It's match day and here's how to watch it live for those of you unable to get to the game.

1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

RED LENIN

And why not just go to footballstreaming.info

Or wiziwig.tv and the select live sports then select football then the game will be listed on loadsa streams

if we have torres on loan you never no im sure hes missing lfc he might be as good as when we signed him and then maybe we buy him.

He has lost it pal,

Your gonna compete for top 4 ....Keep on dreamin and you'll always walk alone with no silverware lol ... more like 7th or 6th or maybe 5th no champions league again ........Fenway sports group gonna sack KK and Gerrard over rated diver..

I cant think of any examples of outright diving from gerrard. can anyone else?

Bitter blue?.... Manc?.....
Bitter blue if we finsh 7th we will still half a table above you!..... Gerrard overated but would still would walk straight into the Man u midfield, and wont take us 20yrs to catch your trophy count, all the best.

KNEE JERK

Wow this poster is such a clever lad

*yawn*.....zzzzzzzzzz

Make no mistake Gerrard has done it before. Every single player has done it at least once. Some just do it more obviously than others.

Review some of your season review dvd's from a few years ago, he goes down a little too easily on occasion.

He would most definitely walk into ANY midfield in england.

Tonight is not for 4th place, the boys need to go out and enjoy the challenge...

City claimed 52 Premier League points out of a possible 54 on home turf in 2011...

I can't pick the team tonight other than

Reina, Skrtel, Aggar, Enrique, Johnson, Henderson...

Go on lads - enjoy yourselves!!! See what can happen...

If we get a result here tonight, it will be incredible!

To be honest, im not sure if i would change the team from last time, maybe drop Adam for Gerrard, but i would leave Suarez on the bench and see what happens.

hi guys, i am so nervous for the game tonight. playing man city away and i don't know what is going to happen. we play them three times in one month. we want a trophy but its going to be difficult. i hope Kenny don't mess the formation lol. we need a striker. but i just don't trust Kenny with the money that he is given.

Be glad they're not giving the money to hodgson otherwise C.Cole would be our main striker.

YoungRed

Is this lad for real? Kenny's forgot more about footie than you'll ever know fella. Why don't you trust Kenny with money? He's strengthened our squad with some top players. Obviously you're one of the people who throw s**te his way about Carroll, Downing and probably Henderson then? Give them and him a chance you Nimrod! Scott.

We cant keep saying every week the new players like carroll will come good how long do they want to settle 2 years eh...

You've just summed up your mentality fella. Week by week? This week, next week, 3 4 5 6 7 weeks. I doesn't matter to me as long as we "support" them when they're struggling for form. If they came good after any period, them I'm sure that you'd change your tune. Scott.

Our performances this season so far (baring spurs away) have all been vastly improved from last season. Much more fluidity and pass and move being resurrected. The one deficiency has been the inability to deliver enough killer final balls. Many want a marquee signing to remedy this. Well the good news is that we have something far better which aint costing a penny. A world class captain itching to make up for lost time is ready to be unleashed. With Stevie G in the team confidence will be even higher. Caroll will be served up at least two clear chances a game. Henderson will continue to grow but at a quicker pace as he learns from the master craftsman as will Charlie Adam. Notwithstanding Suarez's ban we are looking very strong for the second half of the season, whilst at the same time Arsenal are tiring with their lack of squad depth and Chelsea are in disarray with their aging squad, rookie manager and interfering owner. 4th is looking good and if we can get a win tonight, which is not out of the question, we would be 8 points behind Citeh with half a season to play. A big win tonight and a late title surge is not out of the question. Reality Red.

A title surge would heavily depend on a number of additions arriving in jan which I can't see at the minute.

Yes i agree City have better players but we as a team at the moment are on a different scale all together!
I have watched liverpool for soo many seasons since the days of micheal owen and i haven't seen us play with so much determination and frustration which can only lead to the players improving and evenually we will be top!
Its a matter of time, maybe sooner than you think!
Tonight we will win and win well! city will be embarised and will struggle to find form after we destroy ever single part of the over paid over rated mancs!
In KK and Stevie G I trust

I love kenny but he has brought all these players to the club in the last year and some of them dont cut it for liverpools standards. The likes carroll, adam dowing and henderson are average players and come the end of season we cant keep saying they need time to settle.I think we should give comoli the buying of players because look what he done at spurs he brought in bale and modric who are world class before him nobody knew these players there proably worth 100 million between the now, this comoli guy is a serious operator leave him at it,kenny is a great manager and leave him at picking the team, i would like your opinion on this ed please....ps and liverpool fans

Agreed - no doubt about it

Oh yeh wot rubbish players they are, most games we have out played the opposition created the most chances in the league and ur slating nearly our whole starting midfield , I think Henderson is a great player and since he has been moved in to the middle he has excelled , downing is always a threat on the wing I dunno y so many people are on his back he constantly gets decent balls in the box it's not His fault people dnt get on the end of em, and Adam although he is unfit he has scored sum important goals for us this year , it seems like everyone expect us to be the best team in the world straight away and everyone to settle instantly n be messi like , u jokerz

You only see what you want too see, there not up to liverpool standards,we are liverpool not fulham ur villa

Think about all the players that Benitez brought in, not all of them were successes but we still had world class players like mash and alonso and lucas come through the bad signings of morietes, keane, pennant, dossenna, babel.

Kennys not going to be perfect but the squad we have atm is top 4 worthy and quality compared to last season.

were also being linked with big names. seeing the likes of luke young and carlton cole linked with us at the start of last season was terrible, now its soldado, cavani etc.

#J

Hi joker never said there rubbish as ur post said,i said there only average players and we dont need excuses they will come good

03 Jan 2012 16:42:10

Wow! Talk about getting ahead of ourselves. We haven't a hope of winning tonight. I'll be ecstatic not to get embarrased 6-1 like Man Utd did at OT. They have Aguero, Ballotelli & Dzeko, we have erm, Carroll, Bellers & Suarez. They have Yaya, Silva, Nasri & Milner! We have Adam, Maxi,Spearing & Downing. Seriously, let's just hope our goal difference doesn't take a battering, take a 3-0 beating & get the he'll outta there.

The Irish Rover

Fair play to ya Irish Rover. I appreciate your usuall prediction. Can't Wait.

The Thruff.

We have team spirit which counts alot you manc

Please tell me this was a joke. Last time we played it was a 1-1 draw and CITY were the ones who escaped with a draw, not us.

Not to mention we have the Gerrard factor on our side as well as a hungry Bellamy looking to show Mancini what City lost. Not to mention a Suarez and Carroll hungry for goals and looking to clear his name.

RenegadeRed

What the
we are liverpool fc we come to every game too win!!

Tom Rd

Your defo not a liverpool fan!!

Interesting post...tell me, i'm curious; how did you type that with the strait jacket on?
Milamber

Irish Rover did we get smashed by city last time we played no we didnt and they played a strong team and aguero could not break down our defence so why should we get destroyed this time...FOOL

MJ

Yes and we drew with them 1-1 at Anfield if you don't remember? They're on an average run of form right now and I feel we can take the match too them and get a result. I love your "positivity".

Alex

No way the irish rover , at least a draw tonight , we matched them at anfield and were unlucky not to win , if we fight the same way tonight , we will be fine...........lfc

Full of optimism I see Irish rover

King luis

Nice positive attitude just can't beat it.

Sunderland had O'Shea, Cattermole and Bendtner. City had Kompany, Silva and Aguero. Now what was that score again?
Liverpool may lose tonight but one things for sure the team just wont roll over and take a hammering like United did, we have to play City three time this month and i just cant see us losing all three times, even if they are the best team in Manchester.

And i know this is a rumours website (a bloody good one i might add) but please can we put the Cahill and Torres stories to bed, first of all Cahill would be at least third choice CB maybe even fourth. And as for Torres he's made his choice he's a Chelsea player now so lets move on.

always a red

Your forgetting at half time Kun will switch sides and come out of the tunnel wearing Red, you can read about it on this site.

This is possibly the worst statement have heard from a Liverpool fan for years go and support a differnet team because Liverpool should never except defeat before a game has even started you melt!

We have Gerrard. Nuff said

The most embarassing post this season.

The Irish Rover always says we will lose. I personally feel that we will lose at least 4-0.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

Personally think we're looking at 5 or 6 nil.

Seriously, though, Irish Rover has a tradition of making negative predictions in the hope of the opposite happening. At least I think and hope he does.

Martin

Irish rover is a huge fan. When it comes to predictions though he uses reverse psychology. He is superstitious so that's why he gives his own wacky predictions. All is good

The Thruff

Hasn't Yaya gone to the ACON?

Coxy82

The amount of peoople that do not know Irish Rovers routine, search his name he's a lucky charm(ish).

Come on, Carroll is due at least a hat trick and am sure Bellamy and Gerrard will get one a piece. Oh and then Maxi will come off the bench to set up Downing to score his first goal for us!

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Ed001 suggested "I haven't been keeping notes, so I can't give a definitive list, but we have checked out Azpilicueta, Naughton, Clyne, there are a bunch of Spanish, German and French league ones we have checked out as well. I am sure there are more in the smaller leagues that I don't know about too, we are definitely looking very carefully for one." which I found using the search function.}

Lol ed. Made me laugh. Where on earth did u find that search button?

Gezza1982 {Ed002's Note - The Search button is at the top of the page.}

Don't know how much truth there is in it but I have heard we are watching Å ime Vrsaljko from Dinamo Zagreb. 19-year-old Croatian international who looks pretty promising. -SH-

Ed i really hope u didnt take me seriously when i asked where the search button was lmao

gezza1982

Guys, you are all being a bit harsh on Irish Rover. City are not top for no reason, they didn't beat UTD 6-1 for no reason, it wasn't a fluke. Just wait and see what happens. Nobody knows what will happen, the teams may decide it, a mistake by Lescott, whatever, there are too many possibilities to predict the match tonight.

Cross your fingers and hope. I dont think we will lose, but it might be 6 nil to them. The last weekend of Premiership football should show us never to guess the result of the match.

I don't think Spearing will do the same job on Silva that Lucas did.Dempsey found plenty of space when we played at Fulham. If Jay gives Silva that sort of room, he will get murdered.I would play Carra as DM myself, with the instruction to keep Silva Quiet. We stop Silva we can go there and win.

Nojay

Carra was not built to stop small fast players

He would be pulling Silva down

Carra was meant to be the warhouse that he is against bigger tougher men

Spearing is a liability and he is not liverpool standard he is rubbish as a CDM his defense is terrible, he will be loaned

03 Jan 2012 16:37:10
I've probably got MOTD fever but the more I think about it the more I'm liking this Reus kid. He'd cost under 20m, give us at least 5 years of service, slot right into the squad as a direct replacment for Kuyt, and we have a close relationship with his club. We could use Rafa's classic 4-2-3-1

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Lucas Adam
Reus Gerrard Downing
Suarez

or stick him up top in a 4-4-2

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Bellamy Gerrard Lucas Downing
Suarez Reus

I'd like another winger as well (Hoilett would be a realistic choice) and possibly another striker, but if we sign Marco Reus I'll be over the moon

Red Ollie

I really don't know how Jose Enrique isn't in the Spanish side, don't half feel sorry for him. Showed everybody his worth by playing superb this season and is a member of the best defense in the premier league. Must be that he doesn't play in Spain.

Reina is in the squad so was torres an d alonso and fabregas

Hey eds,

I was wondering about two things -

1. any news on whether gerrard will start tonight ?
2. any news on whats happening with suarez case ?

sorry if youve addressed these before and all the best for the new year !

lfc4evaneva {Ed002's Note - (1) No but he will when the club, player and medical staff agree he is ready for it. (2) I assume you mean in respect of an appeal. The answer is no but no doubt the player and club have been given advice on it by now. I expect the owners will want to make their view heard as well.}

Gerrard will start!

03 Jan 2012 15:30:09
No I agree, we just need cover and both teams win with a loan.
He gets exp for madrid and we get decent cover

03 Jan 2012 15:29:50
lets face it. liverpool are only going to get 1-2 players in january. they might not even get one. if they get someone they will not be for 30 million. they are more likely to be players at 15 million or under that. i think that we should look at defoe and hoilet. we do not need a midfielder because of lucas injured. we have gerrard, spearing, adam, henderson and shelvey in centre midfield. we only need 2 centre midfielders to have in our starting line up and we have 5.

Bit random but does anyone else rate Soto Kyriagkos I think he never let us down much (Braga and West Brom) but apart from that me and my mates seen him as a sort of cult hero think it is because he just a Big Hardknock Greek (Hope thats doesnt offend any Greeks you know how it is nowadays). Anyonenow how he's doing at wolfsburg hopefully he's doing well!

Buller {Ed002's Note - Major issues with Magath - hardly surprising, Magath has fallen out with most players.}

The greek should then just sacrific felix Magath to the Gods! {Ed002's Note - I don't think he would have any issues finding helpers.}

If Magath has fell out with his players is there anyone there worth bidding for Im ure if they players dislike him so much they would be open to a move. I can remember Wolfsburg in the Champions League so they must have some worthwhile players! {Ed002's Note - Diego still belongs to Wolfsburg but is out on loan for the season.}

Ed around the end of august Macca said something along the lines of we will hear news over the stadium soon however I dont remember seeing if he did say any news could you please remind me as i cant see any on the Macca page and it make me question whether he is just got lucky with one transfer and now just makes obvious points(although i do think he does have some sort of itk). Good luck tonight lads! Can't see a win at City, but with enough pressure on their star players (Aguero and especially Silva) we could pull off a draw (1 - 1). Going to be real tough though. Big question is will Suarez start? Should be an obvious 'yes' but I am having my doubts (mindset, etc.). One thing is for certain: wee Jay is going to be tight on Silva's apse!

Do people on here really believe the owners of LFC are going to risk paying over the top again this January? Last year they aimed for one purchase, and were 'forced' into a second (Carroll) with its ridiculous price tag. Henry has said so much himself in interviews. Would purchase of another star guarantee a CL spot? The answer is no, though it may help.

I can see a purchase of a midfielder, as Gerrard is mobile and can fill several positions, and Lucas missing is a big loss. But how do people think we will sign a new striker? We spent almost 60 million on them this time last year! No chance of taking that sort of risk and hoping the player is an instant hit (even world class players need time to adapt, though Suarez was a surprise exception).

I would be quite happy with a right sided player (unlikely) or a defensive mid (more likely). January is not bargain season. Mr. Henry didn't become a billionaire burning money.

My blood is red.

If a quality players available,we need an extra Striker.Owners would surely pay for one,if meant the riches and profile of Champs Leauge Footy. And prospect of better quality players willing to come in summer

Mr. Henry is not a billionnaire

His personal wealth a few months ago was listed @ 540M

Mr henry is all but one owner of fsg . theres more millionairres there, shrewd millionaires
5 gold stars

Yes but he is just 1 of many that own us so we are worth more than billion {Ed002's Note - It is FSG that own the club - not the individual investors in FSG which is simply an investment vehicle.}

All those involved in FSG have not made their personnal fortunes available to Kenny as his war chest to fund transfers

FSG have investors who like a return on their money not to spend it on average football players during the transfer silly season

Hey Ed, Im not going to speculate on transfers but I was curious as to whether or not adidas will still be our kit manufacturer next season and beyond? Can you shed any light on this? There is no article within the archives of the Official website relating to this. Thanks

Kam {Ed002's Note - The plan is that a new kit manufacturer (Warrior Sports) will be taking over from Adidas.}

I see. Is this confirmed or is it still yet to be confirmed?

Kam {Ed002's Note - It is intended to happen.}

Great stuff. Thanks for the quick replies. You guys do an excellent job in bridging optimism and realism together. I love this site!!

Was out for Dinner last night with Vicki and she says that David is willing to come to Liverpool for cut price wages as he his trying to get in the England team.
Also hinted that the Kids needed some decent schooling so Liverpool it was.

He was discussing the likelihood of a move to Liverpool when the interviewer asked
"wouldn't you be worried about the stick?"
to which he replied
"naaah she'll be fine, she knows quite a few of the Liverpool wags!"

Talking of wet weather, does anyone remember the old, open terraces at certain away ends.
The ones at Newcastle, Bolton (Burnden Park), Chelsea, Arsenal, and The Dell at Southampton spring to mind.

i think its time to say goodbye to aurelio and kuyt been great players for the club but are no longer contributing imo. sell kuyt for around 7-10 mil and let aurelio go on a free , expect a winger that can play upfront like kuyt to come in podolski or someone along those lines. carroll going nowhere matter of time before he starts banging them in with gerrard back in the team. YNWA

Mr.Deeds

Thats nothing new. Maybe Kuyt can stay, and just buy a winger. Kuyt doesn't play too bad upfront on the wing he just doesn't appear to be contributing. Having said that, he doesn't appear to look happy on the bench, so there is a possibilty he could leave.

Bring on tonight's game, let's hope it's a good one.
It's going to be a difficult game but we've already shown against the likes of Chelsea, United, Arsenal and even City themselves that we can put in a great performance and we were unlucky not to beat united and city.
We need a fast start in my opinion but i think most of us think that. Despite everything, i hope suarez is in the starting line up and i also hope to see stevie get a good few minutes.
Let's keep our faith, support the team and hey if we win, we're joint fourth so come on you reds

Now that Beckham has turned down PSG, who will be the first person to suggest/provide rumour that he should/will sign for us for 2 months. They will state what quality balls he will deliver for Big Andy, and the experience he will provide for Hendo, and Downing, and how he has dreamed of playing for the King at Anfield.

They will of course forget he is actually slower that Kuyt and is aged almost 50.

But You know it will posted...(in the near future)

This supposed Talks**te exclusive about Carroll returning on loan to Newcastle seems to me Alan Pardew stirring it. It is all one way.
Pardew is really starting to p**s me off. When interviewed you'd think he was a Professor of football or something. He'll be managing Luton or someone in a couple of years, trust me!!
Also Talks**te presenter Alan Brazil seems to have a close friendship with Derek Lamblas of Newcastle and I bet this is where much of this 'exclusive' has come from.

Mate don't listen to it, when was the last time they had anything positive to say about the club, come to think of it when was the last time anything they said was true. It gets called talkshe*p for a reason.
Your right about Pardew mind, living in the northeast i had to listen to all the, 'have you seen the table lately' where as now i can just sit back and smile.

always a red {Ed002's Note -

Alan "I'm Mike Ashley's Puppet/Casino mate" Pardew really reckons himself just because Newcastle were on a recent roll. He always has a smug look about himself. Arrogant Tosspot. Who remembers I especially hate the way he has gone after our targets e.g. Marveaux (whom we didn't want eventually as wages too high), "Like what Liverpool can do, Newcastle can do better" attitude. Glad we stuffed them 3-1 on Friday. When Newcastle go on a losing streak near the relegation zone eventually, he WILL be sacked..close mate or no close mate of Ashley!

Hi Eds, I was just strolling on the official Premier League website, and it says that Craig Bellamy is at Liverpool on loan. Is this true? I was under the impression we had signed him on a free transfer

www.premierleague.com/en-gb/clubs/profile.squads.html/liverpool

Down the bottom of the page it says Bellamy is on loan {Ed001's Note - I was told he had signed a permanent deal, which involved him taking a pay cut and waiving loyalty bonuses etc, even going so far as to offer to buy out his contract completely to make the move happen. That came from about as good a source as you can get, so I am a little confused by that, though it might have been a compromise between the clubs.}

It's a permanent deal, otherwise he would not be eligible to play against Citeh

SingRed

If he is only on loan it doesn't mean he can't play against City, unles that has been agreed by the two clubs in the negotiations. {Ed002's Note - No. The Premier League rules would exclude him if he were on loan.

I now feel obliged to share some info from a very good source. There is definite interest in Carroll from two premiership clubs which the club are reviewing. However, AC does not want to leave.
--------------------------------------------------
With reference to Carroll, newspaper reports last January suggested Newcastle had turned down bids from Spurs and other clubs approaching £27m and this is why it really bugs me when people criticise Liverpool for paying £35m because there was great interest from other Premier League clubs who were willing to pay close to what Liverpool paid. Many Commentators seem to conveniently forget this now.

03 Jan 2012 13:49:13
I came across something quite interesting yesterday. Torres' new excuse for leaving:

full interview translated here: lfc.im/79

I personally think it's quite reasonable - makes sense and all. Thoughts anyone? Especially considering Chelsea won't be successful short term.

Funny part, Torres looked at Chelsea players and thought "they have won everything" Obviously forgot the Champions League that LFC won 5 times. Fool

03 Jan 2012 13:48:33
Marquee signings..... Everywhere I look a see those words, and its beginning to drive me slightly crazy.... What is people's obsession with a Marquee Signing? To be honest I dont care who we sign as long as he can do his job well and improve the team! The clear fact is we dont know how any player will react to joining LFC regardless of their name or price tag.

This forum used to be superb as it gave people a chance to share the rumours they had heard. Often they were garbage but an entertaining read. It appears to me that people on here are just using it to ask the Ed's "what are the chances of...." and is going around in circles with the same stupid questions. It is not 'Ask the Ed' and I would like people to refrain from the "will we sign" posts do we can get the comedy and rumours back again.

I now feel obliged to share some info from a very good source. There is definite interest in Carroll from two premiership clubs which the club are reviewing. However, AC does not want to leave.

03 Jan 2012 13:29:20
It's great to be a Liverpool supporter for the time being! We produce the most chances in the premiership, concede few goals, Gerrard back in full fitness.

The new team is setteling. I realy don't want to interrupt this with a lots of new signings in January. Save the money and evaluate the season in the summer.

Touch and go if we get champs leauge as it stands.A striker who converts a lot of the plentyfull chances were creating, would enhance chances greatly

03 Jan 2012 13:26:12
wud it be smart if we threw a 7m plus dirk kuyt bid for luuik de jong

If he does leave it probably won't be until the summer and he will be looking for a bigger side than fc twente. They wouldn't even be able to pay half the wages he gets from lfc.

Andy Carroll - Discuss - Good, Bad or Ugly?

I personally believe he is a player that does not fit into liverpools style. That being said after watching Gerrard come back against Newcastle and managing to get the Geordie into the game I believe there is potential as long as we can use him correctly...

I rate him! I belive he is a good player to have in the squad. I think that he represent something different. I don't think Liverpool should have one playingstyle, but different options that fits different match situations and opposition.

I agree, when he has a good run in the team with service like Gerrard supplied to him in the second half, he'll be banging in the goals!

A good player with bags of potential going through a really bad patch. Also ugly. Not Wayne Rooney of Ian Dowie ugly but the ginger one out of Girls Aloud ugly.

Carroll looked a total different player when gerrard come on . fair enough when he was through on the keeper his touch was crap but hey he was in the right postion i think with a run of games and a little bit of confidence he'll be a good player for us

trev d

Definitely Ugly, he has a face only a mother could love, maybe a good hair cut would help him -McMenemy

So he's definitately not Sampson (sampson and *Delighlah*). His strength is not in hes hair...

That's him to a T
good bad and ugly!
At the moment:
Not very good,
Not too bad either
First touch is F*** ugly
But, strangely,
I think he has the potential
to be an awesome striker
Saw flashes of him against Newcastle,
Dalglish's Frankinstein
Shearer, Rooney and Rush
all rolled into one striker
He's already got a great shot on him
from outside the box,
far better than Rooney,
he's playing too much with back to goal,
if he can lean to control the ball and turn
and run at the goal and at defenders,
he could be the new Shearer
he already heads better than Shearer
If he works on his pace and I do think
he is quick on these long legs,
if he can push on last defender
and make a run into space,
he could be as devastational as Rush.
I think that's what Dalglish saw in him,
but he's a work in progress
and only time will tell if he reaches
his true potential - I hope so.

He was starting to play decent when Gerrard came on. I've noticed that Downing on the wing doesn't produce good enough service for Carroll, it's like it's Enrique doing all the work down the left. Bellamy provides good service though and Gerrard the other night was outstanding. Lets not right him off yet, give him until the end of the season, maybe we'll sign a playmaker/winger in Jan to provide some good service.

Andy Carroll - Discuss - Good, Bad or Ugly?

I personally believe he has cheekbones and is a player that does not fit into liverpools style. That being one of 1990's spice boys.

I have said for ages that as soon as we get someone crossing balls in from the right hand side then it would help big andy massively. Ryan Taylor was that player for newcastle and we need one now. Stevie can do it but we all want him in centre-mid so in my mind our top january target should be a right sided player who can whip in a decent cross for andy. job done.... happy new year to everyone! except evra!

Google images of Andy Carroll. He looks fit with shorter hair.

Edo2 question for u? Would u be annoyed if torres did come back to lfc. Just asking as u are a chelsea fan just like me dad. Saying like me dad because he feels torres just aint getting the service and he feels like the other chelsea players just aint interested in passing to him. And i agree with him on that. Seen some games where players had simple pass so torres is clean through and they just ignore him for some reason. Jelousy im guessing.

Darren Bent will be allowed to leave Villa once they have secured Steven Pineaar and Robbie Keane (on loan). Liverpool are clear favourites to snatch him for £24m.
Dirk Kuyt will prob be heading back to Holland, LFC will accept offers in the region of £5.5m

Lol I hardly call £24m a snatch. His value should be lower as he has got older around 16 to 18m

Its no snatch for 24m it is Daylight Robbery!

Overpriced, and Bent is 27 yrs old, it would not be a good investment at all.

Just thought I would say , tonight could be a watershed game for LFC if a victory comes our way . I think we are capable of a strong performance with our only weakness - an obviously low goals tally however , our away form is our forte this season .

Here is hoping for a win and a good performance that can solidify the team with the rest of the season to follow .

We could have ourselves a title challenge here , with a little luck . Let's stick together regardless of opinion .

Qwerty

Our away form isn't that great,we have lost to stoke, fulham and spurs

Its great to see all the pundits giving us a chance lol i think we can go there and get a great result

A few unlucky defeats I agree , however our goals against is superb , even more so considering 4 of those goals were against Spurs where we finished the game with 9 players .

Tough for teams to score against us . We could nick it tonight .

Poolgunner again. I love this page because they bite very easily here and the Spuds site is dull (no posts). When Arsenal lose you rarely take advantage, so keep this mind against City tonight (no malice intended). Try and avoid a hiding the Mancs received, then at least you can boast that you didn't get a hiding.
Regarding Walcott, you can have him, but seeing as he is better than Andy you may have to cough up more than you paid Newcastle. We can add 3 extra players on top of the ideal, ie. Arshavin, Chamakh and Squillaci if you wish.

Poolgunner

This boy annoys me. Who are you to speak of capitalizing when a team drops points? Arsenal have not capitalized on any team dropping points for years. Come back when we're ahead of you in the league table tomorrow.

Eds, why when someone comes onto this page and admits an intention to wind people up do you still let posts through!? {Ed002's Note - It is Banter. The same happens on the Manchester United pages with Liverpool fans.}

Its a bit of fun mate, I should know I wind the manchester united fans up enough times lol. We know what is the truth and what is crap so we don't have to agree with it.

Danny

'Poolgunner'

Are you trying to raise funds so your manager can finally sign some players? I hear the likes of Wayne Bridge and Kieran Richardson are being heavily linked with your club......................score.

To be honest mate you can keep Walcott - I think that chance he missed the other day against QPR just about sums his career up. He made the right run, showed some good pace but lost all of his composure as soon as he looked up and saw the keeper.

Hi Poolgunner..

Last time we met ManCity i think it was them who avoided a defeat ..

Can't wait for the match tonight. IF we win we got on level points with chelsea and I can almost guarantee we will finish ahead of them unless they dramatically start defending well. They will get beat a fair few times this season. RVP gets injured and arsenal are out so got a good chance. So what if we beat city and united go top they will not last there judging on previous performances there squad is not good enough to beat city.

Alright lfc-ers.

Not a rumour per se but Robbie Keane.... why not? Has something to prove at LFC after his previous endeavour, is only available for two months so we are not stuck with him if it falls on its arse again...unlike if rumours are to become fact and we sign that pile of tripe Darren Bent...and that is also the roughly the period we will be without Suarez if Lfc decide to accept the charge. Also leaves the funds available for the summer. Perfect bit of business in my eyes.

The Merry Pippin {Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen.}

Not going to happen , redforever .

So the transfer window has opened, but it's very quiet not only for LFC, may be becaz it's too early in the window. Expect more movements as the days pass by.
In my honest view we should not waste more money on mediocre average players, thought buying players to improve the squad was finished in summer, now we should wait for the right time (January is not best of times), right player & the right price (we have paid over the odds for some players- Carroll, Downing & Henderson). We should try to unearth a classy player who can create movement of Brilliance like Gerrard or Suarez / even Bellers from some where. If we can't find a suitable one then be it, keep the money in your pocket till the summer arrives.

With Lucas injured & Suarez likely to be banned we certainly need a player/two. Unless a player leaves can't see why we need more than two.. I would opt not to buy another CM, a winger & a striker should be the priority.

Against Citeh tonight, think we should start Stevie, Suarez, Carroll & Bellers all 4 of them would be tough to handle. Downing on the bench Adam & Spearing in Midfiled. Hope Spearing will step up, of course not as good as Lucas but still he can do a decent Job. My greatest fear is Spearing getting sent off, he must keep calm composed & cool. Henderson's tackling is not good enough for me so i will keep him on the bench.
Carroll 'll certainly be uncontrollable if Stevie can create him with chances like he did against Newcastle.

Come on Redmen! you can do it, YNWA!

Reina

Johnson Skertl agger enrique

spearing Adam

Suarez Gerrard bellemy

carroll

I think we all know by now that we can't predict what Kenny and Comolli are going to do in this window. However, according to the rumours, these are the players whom we have been most linked with:

Cavani (Unlikely)
Podolski (Good chance)
Bent (Unlikely)
Luuk De Jong (Good chance)
Eriksen (Good chance)
Soldado (Good chance)
Higuain (Very unlikely)
Defoe (Good chance)

Eriksen is no way a good chance. They want 40 million

why does everyone seem to knock Kuyt? For people to say he was never good enough i can't believe. He's a Dutch international and the last time i checked Holland were an OK team! He was never the most technical but he worked his arse off every game and like it or not the main aspect of what makes professional football players effective is fitness and work rate. Sure some have natural gifts and have world class attributes but for the most part its fitness and who is willing to run themselves into the ground.
There have been so many games LFC would have lost if it wasn't for Kuyt. maybe he should go now but some fans are so fickle and should show a little more respect to players that serve their team well!

Liverpool FC has teamed up with the global print and document management company, Konica Minolta, to create a unique partnership that will benefit both companies.

The long-term relationship will see the Club working with Konica Minolta to help raise their profile as a provider of print and document management services to SMEs, public sector, commercial and enterprise business through brand affinity and engagement with Liverpool supporters.

The partnership will also see Liverpool FC benefiting from Konica Minolta's skills, experience and expertise in their role as the Club's Official Print and Document Management Partner.

Ian Ayre, Managing Director, Liverpool Football Club, said: "We are excited about working with a brand that has such an innovative and fresh approach to business solutions and the Club will provide Konica Minolta with significant brand visibility and access to our supporter base."

Neil Dingley, Konica Minolta's Operations Director & Company Secretary added: "Our partnership with LFC supports our corporate vision of developing long-term partnerships that optimise mutual profitability as we will be able to improve efficiencies and reduce operational costs associated with managing print and document management for the Club. At the same time, we will be able to raise our own profile in the B2B arena as the market leader."

why does everyone say MOTD FEVER more like FIFA FEVER or FOOTBALL MANAGER

G31212412D XOXOXOXO

MOTD fever is for the over 50's, old boys like Ed002.
FIFA fever/FM are for the under 15's, the Ed009's of the world.

dmedly :-)

Lol. Do you remember The Big Match on a Sunday dinnertime dmedly ?
The Real KB

Seriously, where is ed009? I havn't seen him on the site for ages?!

arguing with a friend over Charlie Adam's performances for Liverpool. he says he's carp , no engine, unfit. i say hes been good if not spectacular, consistent. works hard , has more in the bag as i think his set pieces were much better playing for blackpool.I think if he was more of a glamorous buy (ie. from spain full head of hair and an exotic name) he'd wouldnt be as underestimated. just wondering what the general attitude towards him is..

D

He's done well considering step up but needs to drastically improve his dead ball efforts been really surprised how poor his delivery been for us! Next season think he will be even better along with downing and Henderson they need a season to properly gel!

To be fair he is one of my favourite LFC players and can only get better , I think he will become very important . He seems to have grown a lot since Blackpool but it's early days .

Qwerty

I completely agree with you. He's chipped in with some good assists and set up some attacks with a few lovely long passes.

I still think there's a lot more to come from the fella and it's a little early to judge him.

HAve to agree with the original posted message. Charlie Adam is no more than an average squad player. One of the reasons we bouhght him (apparently) were his set pieces. So when are we going to see these? I think he knew he was playing while Gerrard was injured and has coastedin recent games. Now Steveies back he needs to put slome real effort in and show what he can do

I like Charlie, he's done well. Though he's looking a bit tired at the moment. But he's no Steven Gerrard. Seen that the other night.
The Real KB

I think Charlie has done well, but it took Stevie G 10 minutes to see the level of class we have been missing while he was injured

SamuiLFC

While adam has had the odd good game he has never had a great game.in blackpool he was a star in liverpool he just hasnt got it, for me gives the ball away to cheaply in most of the games he has played in red.but the geesta is back now hopefully he will score tonite

He needs to improve his decision making and be more unselfish...too many times I've seen him drive at the opponents defence and shoot instead of put it on a plate for someone else. His games so far haven't been consistent but maybe he just needs more time.

GuvTOB

He's not in same league Xabi (obv) but thats the role i can see him playing, next to Stevie. All the best.

KNEE JERK

He is crap and yes he is lazy

Hello Eds:- If ( a big if) Erikson were to go to Barcelona, would Liverpool be interested in getting Ibrahim Afellay ? He seems to have stagnated whilst at Barca-injuries, lack of form and competing against Xavi, Iniesta and the other midfield players.Best wishes to all for a Happy (Liverpool) 2012. Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Eriksen is irrelevant to what happens with Afellay. You do know that Afallay is out with cruciate knee ligament damage?}

Gerrard will be starting tonight...

Gerrard will be starting in the second half

03 Jan 2012 10:28:50
Hi Eds and Macca,

Any update on Gerrard starting tonight. I'm thinking he may start on the bench. I think we may need him, Man Shi**y's home record in last 28 games is drawn 2 and won 26 :-( My heart says we'll nick a draw my head says me may slp up! God I hope I'm wrong! Thanks as always

Ahh.. i like the odds... remember chelseas home record...

Is your heart broken?

For some reason I can never picture us having a draw or losing, I always imagine us taking the win. Anyone else have this problem?

RenegadeRed

Liverpool win!

My heart is not broken but it does try to remain sensible. I would love nothing more than to upset the odds. A last minute Gerrard free kick leaving Hart stranded would be fantastic!

I have the same problem RenegadeRed

Kaizer

Sensible? is that what the head is for. it can be totally at odds with the heart eg... my head says city will nick it but my heart says we'll kill them!

03 Jan 2012 10:25:57
Hey eds, heard anything on a possible Gyan signing, it's obvious he doesn't want to play for Sunderland under Steve Bruce but maybe that will chance under Martin O'neill. Just wondering whether we'd have a look in. He'd provide much needed cover up front and maybe offer us some goals. Maybe even on loan. Yes he has a bad attitude but I'd love him in a Liverpool shirt for now.

What do you think? {Ed002's Note - Just throwing up names at random is unlikely ever to get a positive response. Sorry, but there is no interest in the player at all.}

03 Jan 2012 10:02:51
Theese targets are likely to happend.

1. Lukas Podolski
Dirk Kuyt in a part exchange if the transfer happens in Jan. Podolskis price can raise afther the Eurochampionship.

2. Christan Eriksen.

3. Walter Gargano

Chrsitian Erikson is by no means liklly -McMenemy

03 Jan 2012 09:57:04
If we are going to buy a winger my top 3 would be;
Nathan Dyer
Adam Johnson
Anthony Pilkington

Pilkington and Dyer would both be relativly cheap, wouldn't demand high wages and would most likely jump at the chane to join.

KT!

Motd fever?

Most definately not my anonymous pal.
I just thought i'd be realistic in the signings that we could get to improve the sqaud, not people like Hazard as you most likely want and cry for.

I've seen every Norwich game this season because i watch them because of Paul Lambert and Pilkington is the type of player we need.

KT!

03 Jan 2012 07:51:19
I wish everyone would stop going on about Cavani, he said he wouldn't go to City why would he come here? What because he is from Uruguay? Then Messi may as well come cause Maxi is here and he is Argentine. Get a grip.

Luuk De Jong would be the main target for me, young, strong and lots of potential and a lot of Eridivisie players settle well into England.

Like most I would welcome Adam Johnson just couldn't see it to the summer.

I don't think we need anything in defence currently and I would try to get Carroll away as soon as we can. Bent is a proven goal scoring poaching git and if we could do a part exchange with Carroll to Villa I would take that too.

Conor

I totally agree bent scores all the time and carroll never scores its a no brainer...ynwa

What a load of shabite from them two posts.

DaveyBootle

Load of rubbish, get a grip will you, we have a great squad

03 Jan 2012 07:35:34
Hi eds, I have two worries over Darren bent, although he regularly scores goals for mid table teams but I don't think he has the work ethic for a team like us, also remember when he was at spurs a few years back? He was awful

Well what is andy carroll ... ps he cant even control a football.... go get bent

Carrol is a gud player, why dont you crawl back to mancland , nugget

03 Jan 2012 05:06:54
Who are our realistic targets at this point? Personally I dream of huntelaar and m'vila but I'm also realistic....What's the latest over there guys?

We should sign Robin van Persie.

Yes Arsenal are going to hand over RVP because were worth it!

Liverpool Players In Players Out Nett Spend Per Season
Before Hicks/Gillet Buyout £270,605,000 £112,020,000 £158,585,000 £10,572,333
After Hick Gillette Buyout £281,500,000 £213,150,000 £68,350,000 £17,087,500
After Henry Buyout oct 2010 £114,750,000 £76,050,000 £38,700,000 £25,800,000

And your point is?......

Our squad is better now than it has been for ages and we are playing better footy......3 points off fourth. If we get a result today, we will be level with Cheslea and 3 of third.

I know who I would rather have in charge.

Net Spend 92 - 2011 --- Purchased Gross-- Sold -------- Nett---------- Per Season

1- --- Chelsea ------- £729,240,000 - £224,275,000 - £504,965,000 - £25,248,250 (oil money)
2 ---- Man City ------ £655,180,000 - £163,303,000 - £491,877,000 - £24,593,850 (oil money really does talk)
3 ---- Liverpool ----- £552,105,000 - £325,170,000 - £226,935,000 - £11,346,750
4 ---- Man Utd ------- £483,150,000 - £300,590,000 - £182,560,000 - £9,128,000
5 ---- Tottenham ----- £407,050,000 - £228,717,500 - £178,332,500 - £8,916,625
15 --- Arsenal ------- £340,690,000 - £319,474,000 - £21,216,000 -- £1,060,800

it doesnt stack up with league positions over the years. Net spend on players and finishing positions.

Im guessing Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd will get into champions league

you can say man utd are stuggling because of under investment in playing staff.

Arsenal have under invested to the tune of £80million in playing staff.

Liverpool have over spent and underperformed mainly because we buy players for stupid amounts of money and sell them on for hardly anything.

So you are in third place then!

03 Jan 2012 03:12:17
Gary hooper is good poacher also Darren bent

Can he do eggs over easy

We should sign James forest from Celtic

03 Jan 2012 02:53:57
I have been reviewing the days posts, and was immediately struck by how divided LFC fans are in their views and opinions.
Not judging anyone, but reading through it is quite a chuckle indeed.

You should sort out the regular and named posters from the anonymous entries (usually posted by other team's supporters to get a rise). Having said that, this Suarez issue has polarised even the true LFC supporters - those who back Luis' appeal and those who want the club to forget it.

cozinoz

True, but the report is extremely poor in it's rationale. Liverpool should not appeal to the FA but Luis should take it to court. The findings would be utterly destroyed in a court room. There are so many posts and sites and papers saying Suarez admitted this and that; he clearly didn't. Evra is a 'reliable' witness...the same Evra banned for his testimony over his fight at Chelsea? The same Evra who acted so disgracefully at South Africa? The same Evra who's claims about the foul that kicked this all off are so blatantly untrue? The vast weight of evidence supports Suarez, yet this panel consisted of Fergie's mate and an FA member. Ed02 doesn't like this being pointed out as it doesn't fit in with the world view floating around his/her head but it's fact. never mind the hang up on people saying its an FA report, that's not really the point. The evidence comes down to 1 persons word against another, and much of the original claim has been retracted as the lies were too easy to spot. This is a pure stitch up job and needs to be fought all the way in court.
Ulsterpool {Ed002's Note - You clearly don't understand the process at all. What is it that "Luiz should take to court"? I assume you have not read the report or have failed to take off your Liverpool tinted spectacles to come up with such astonishing rubbish as "The vast weight of evidence supports Suarez". Why did Suarez' council not object to the members of the panel when the opportunity arose? Why is it not the point to explain the complete misconception to the masses who see this as an "FA Report". So who or what will Suarez be taking to court? And what will the owners be doing as he drags the club and FSG further through the mire? You also seem to somehow be holding me responsible for this complete mess - try looking a little closer to home.}

Hey ed, there is a point or two in there. The evidence does support suarez somewhat in that there hasn't really been any hard evidence presented against him. For the report to conclude that he said certain words 7 times defies belief when the report is read in full, especially when the video evidence of the goal mouth is examined. It's a dangerous, slippery slope finding one word against another, as i'm sure will be found over the next while. I think the point relating to the 'FA' report is that there were several questions asked about the report but you concentrated on the FA thing too much. As for 'dragging the club through the more' this is nonsense if the club and manager genuinely believe Suarez to be innocent, as they clearly seem to do. Your viewpoint certainly appears to be very anti-Suarez, whether it actaully is or not that's the impression given. Obviously this will cause some irritation on a liverpool page ed. Milamber {Ed002's Note - And when presented with the additional video evidence what did Suarez do - he changed his story again. I would ask again, if Suarez' council did not agree with the commission members, why did he not say and call up the reserve? I would also ask what anyone expects Suarez to go to court with - and against whom, and which court? I am sure you will be put out of your misery about this in a few days. At which I predict a massive "FSG Out" onslaught.}

03 Jan 2012 02:48:12
shouldn't torres go to one of these Emirati club UAE Pro-League. Oil money can pay him off big time, he dosn't have to play very well because no one really cares.

Its better than being in the premiership. it would make more sense than him coming back to liverpool

Id prefer he stayed at Chelsea and continued taking 120k a week from Roman's coffers while doing next to nothing on the pitch....and reminding us why we got the Sale of the Century

cozinoz

Newcastle can say the same thing m8.

Newcastle cant say the same thing as Carrol cost 15mil less and hes on half the wages
wildwelshman

03 Jan 2012 02:48:03
Yes, this is a simplistic viewpoint but consider this for a minute...what is the common denominator between Carroll's struggles now and Torres's struggles at Chelsea? An absence of Stevie G is the answer. Torres best form while at Pool was linking up with Gerrard with Stevie G orchestrating a lot of the key moves or final passes. When Gerrard came on the field for the last 30 mins at Newcastle suddenly Carroll was in the right places with chances to score from quality balls. If Stevie stays healthy I cannot imagine any other outcome than Carroll will start banging them in consistently. Again...yes...this is purely a one dimensional view but for all the pundits on TV talking about both the number 9's troubles there has been little mention of the the service to them or the style of play.
rjb

Completely agree! I recently realised that with Kenny only bringing Carroll on for the last 5 mins, maybe he's been waiting for Gerrard to return? Downing, Henderson, Maxi, etc can't really give the delivery Gerrard can because he really is something special. My Family are very harsh against Andy Carroll but I have faith and genuinely believe that with the right service Carroll will start banging them in!

We've done admirably well without Stevie on the pitch for the last few months. What has been forgotten is his ability to bring players into the game. I reckon he could even make Theo Walcott look decent (although I hope he wont get the chance).

cozinoz

I agree and feel Carrol will score goals very soon. However my concern is Stevie isnt young anymore and I hope we can find a younger version of him

Speedy

There'll never be another stevie g speedy, lets just admire and love him for how ever many seasons he has left. I also agree that carroll will start banging them in now the legend is back

31 is not old how old is Giggs38 and still putting in top performaces?

Age is only a number, what happens in the brain is more relevant!

Theree are no new Gerrards and if the lord made one Liverpool would not be able to afford him, as he would be playing for any damm team he wanted too.

We might have the next best thing lurking in the reserves/academy. e.g. Conor Coady.

One good thing is as he gets older he can come off the bench for the last 30 minutes to try raise our level get a winning goal he could still be doing that in his late thirties if his body can take it he has had a good few injuries over the years he doesnt have to be a starter look at the difference he made the other night with just 30 minutes

As we always known, and already know; Sergio Aguero is a big Liverpool fan. With Suarez's ban looming, Kenny urged Aguero to help his beloved team. He'll join us tomorrow after the half-time. He will change his kit and play for Liverpool to be precise. Everything's done, I am "in the know"!

P.S. "Watch this space".

Jack D.

Yesss! That's what I call a miracle of the New Year!

KUN has stated he liked Liverpool when he was younger no longer a fan, he's moved on and so should you

03 Jan 2012 02:26:12
why slate daglish and his signings:
suarez- speaks for himself
carroll- not up to scratch but has potential and suarez' ban could be the making of him
henderson- not a great start but is improving and has bags of potential
adam- has had a patchy start of good and bads, and can build on the goods and was got at a steal if you ask me
doni- only signed in the case of an injury to reina
enrique- amazing signing again at a steal considering he is now the best form lb in the league
coates- has bags of potential and has adapted well considering the jump he can be a steal also at just 6 or so million.
bellamy- was a steal excellent performances to date
downing- not much potential but has shown his class, however he must improve

Dalglish didn't sign Suarez Woy did {Ed001's Note - erm you know Roy had been sacked before Suarez signed right?}

03 Jan 2012 02:25:52
I think soldado is quite likely to leave valencia isoon, if not january then the summer as valencia need the money, also i have heard from a reliable source that kuyt is.likely to leave in January so we will need a replacement so.soldado is ideal as he can actually score goals unlike.kuyt who has none this season. Is there a genuine chance of Liverpool signing him in jan or is it all rumors ed's?

Play Kuyt up front as a poacher for 90 mins, he will get goals.

03 Jan 2012 02:25:10
What a team liverpool have for the future.
Raheem Sterling, Fernandez Suso, Jordan Ibe etc in a few years time we will relive 2005, we will have flair galore, Suso's Passess, Sterlings dribbling. For now though we need players like Adam Johnson and theo walcott

You ruined it when you mentioned Walcott.

KT!

03 Jan 2012 02:08:33
why does everyone hate adam henderson and downing everytime we lose or draw. adam has been solid enough this season barring the bad performances at newcastle and blackburn. henderson is improving and will keep improving. downing is being slated for not having goals or assists, but there is more to football than stats he hasnt been outstanding but he hasnt been as bad as some people say.

Adam henderson and downing are just not Liverpool standard, they will take the club nowhere special

I think you need to rememba all the other wingers we have had before u slate downing , we haven't had someone who attacks and takes defenders on for ages I personally think he has been a good signing and Henderson is improving all of the time, Adam is a good player I just think he needs to be a bit fitter cause he tires after 50 mins. B.w

I remember all the wingers we had before downing here's two Steve McManaman and Steve Highway, much better than downing.

I have not dissed adam, downing or henderson just that they are not good enough to take Liverpool somewhere special they would be great at UTD though or Chelsea or Citeh.

I bet thats what u used to say about lucas aswell

Who's Adam Henderson? ;)

We have just signed him, look him up on youtube

Looks pretty special

03 Jan 2012 01:42:40
Ed do you see us singing Luuk de Jong. Thanks keep up the good work. {Ed001's Note - I do think he will be signed in the summer, possibly January if other interested clubs move in. But you can never tell for certain.}

03 Jan 2012 01:34:41
Well howdy folks, hailing from America again! Been awhile since I got to stomp on the "fair-weather fans" crying out for this player and that to be sold, Kenny to be fired, etc, etc. It seems the editors got as fed up as we did, or maybe people smartened up a little? School holidays over? Who knows!

I'd just like to take a moment to thank this Liverpool team for exciting me nearly every time I watch (The Norwich, Swansea's, etc, not included of course), and I'd love to shake John Henry's hand and thank him for the opportunity he has given this club.

Considering I've been knocking them back for about 48 straight hours (Oh, new years...) I'd also like to sloppily thank the contributions of some of our.. veteran players who seem to get the short end of the stick sometimes, but who have stuck around and indeed found a place in my heart forever.

Dirk Kuyt, please stand up! I hope you play tomorrow, you know how to score in big games and we all know you're gonna bust your hump all game long.

Martin Skrtel! The forgotten man sometimes, so many people claiming he is not of "Liverpool quality" and the likes, but look at him now! I feel he organizes more than Agger does, but man the two of them together shut down some pretty good attacking options all year!

Oh, Bellers. Keep this level of play up and your knees stay healthy, I'll be honored to have you around for another year or three.

And a big call out to our captain - He's coming back, and he's ready to take these upcoming matches by the scruff of the neck, and Steven Gerrard is gonna win us football matches.

CHEERS! Happy New Year from the Yank side of the pond, and let's show our support tomorrow!

You'll Never Walk Alone, my fellow reds.

McSnuggles

03 Jan 2012 01:30:25
will GYAN become available at the end of the season and if so how much is he valued at imo one of the best african strikers at the moment!!

You mean a player that walked out on sunderland because a team offered him a few more quid?

wouldnt want him at Liverpool, he plays for money not the club

I hope, we are not after him. He isn't that good and his behaviour is too bad.

03 Jan 2012 01:19:19
Ed what's the deal with christian erikson? Kid looks like a world beater (I realise that we aren't europes most appealing prospect currently) are there any clubs looking into him? Cheers mate {Ed001's Note - pretty much every top club is keeping tabs on him, we tried to get him last January, as well as Suarez and also tried to get a first option on him, no chance of either though. His preference is to go to Spain, I am quite sure he will get a move to Barca or Madrid as soon as he decides he is ready.}

03 Jan 2012 00:39:14
If i were suarez i would look to leave. Its quite clear the f.a. are out to protect english internationals and to hell with everyone else. World class players dont want to come to england unless man city are paying their wages.(rdred)

Okay eds, no pressure, but you're going to have to tell me, 1. who is signing this month, 2. which day they will sign, 3. how much they will cost, and lastly, do you think torres will be coming back?

Ok, I'll answer you.
1. Torres
2. It'll be on a Friday night, after the second episode of Corrie.
3. £35m seems a popular figure at the moment.
And lastly, no.

I think Kenny will want a striker, as Suarez may have to go. The owners were trying to bring pride and class back to Liverpool. As much as I love Suarez as a player, he isn't exactly class act. Forget the whole racist accusation, what about his one fingered salute at Fulham? He loses his marbles every time a call doesn't go his way. He did bite a player in the Dutch league. Who bites people? I thought Carroll was supposed to be the bad ass?

I think Suarez is very talented and I would hate to lose him, but his antics are detrimental to the team too. If ban holds, which it in all likelihood it will, it means Suarez will miss 1/4 of the premier league games this year due to misconduct. Is this acceptable? Surely if a 40 million bid came in the owners would have to take it seriously.

Kenny has said many times, no player is bigger than the club.

Coop

LOL, we should get rid of him because he's a passionate footballer. Agreed he's always moaning when he goes down or when things don't go his way but that doesn't mean we have to sell him , how about anger management or something instead

After so many years we finally found someone fit to wear the No 7 shirt, and you want him to go. Get real! Everytime I see Saurez play, he excites, is passionate, always unpredictable. Have you forgotten the way he ripped United apart last season, it would have been a sensational goal if Kuyt didn't get the last touch on the line.

He is still young, he will learn from his ban, and hopefully repay the Club, manager and fans for their support and get us that coveted 4th spot.

MidlandRed

By your logic man u would've sold rooney some seasons and balotelli wouldn't be at city. john terry will be sold by chelsea and the list goes on

As much as I love Suarez and believe he is quality, I can understand what the original poster is saying. Yes I remember the way he ripped united apart but I also remember during an on-field scuffle in which all the players where involved I saw him wait for uniteds player fabio or rafael (not sure who is who) and he grabbed a fistful of his hair and tugged on it if the referee saw that he would of been sent off.

Now we have the racism thing and giving fulham fans the rod that's another 2 bans.

Over reacting over little descisions made by the ref we used to have that problem with mascherano and he got sent off for it a few times. Let's be honest about the biting thing if he bit someone's nose in the premier league he would be in a world of trouble probably on assault charges too.

There is passion which I admire and then there is being a spooky brat who seems like he was short of a good hiding from his dad growing up. You don't see gerrard acting like that and can you honestly say he isn't passionate about Liverpool?

Bottom line he's a great player with a bad attitude and unless he can get his attitude sorted out he's going to be more trouble than he's worth. I understand sometimes things don't go his way but he can't lose it all the time.

Ashy

Gerrard was always in trouble with referees when he was younger I remember he nearly broke George Boatengs leg when we were getting beat.
Also filling a dj in at a bar in southport yeah?
Get of Suarez back FFS we have bought a competitive man not a bloody nun would you like him swanning round the pitch smiling when we lose?
You would soon have something to say about his lack of passion then!

Suarez as a nun now that's an image

I agree with the above statement. I am i right in saying that commoli has f**ked the translation of words suarez used in his evidence. saying that suarez used porque tu eres negro which is grammatically incorect in his native language? when really suarez said Por que negro.

How bout Antony Pilkington from Norwich. Can play both wings. Wouldn't be too expensive. Also young and English. Think he's eligible for the republic snap him up trap. Played well at anfield aswell I re

His shooting with left and right foot is exceptional for a winger , the way he strikes a ball actually reminds me of Alan Shearer - power , aggression & accurancy .

I think anyone Kenny Dalglish signs will improve his reign . If it has to be Anthony Pilkington , so be it .
