Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

03 Jul 2012 22:38:11
im going to thtow in my two cents here.. this isnt a rumour! my views are that are season went someehat pearshaped when lucas got injured! i remember when lfc played city and lucas literally took silva out of the game. ill hold my hands up and say i used to really not rate lucas..as did most.. but rafa called it! he said he will be a superstar!

the euros proved one thing to me with regard to england. anyone who says stevie G cant hack it anymore is clueless. the man is still a fantastic player who would walk into most teams in the world. next season we will have a very solid back 4 and centre mid.. not to mention pepe, who granted didnt have his best season, but he is still a top player who loves the club.

suarez.. well nothing need be said! and carroll will hopefully hit the ground running come august!

BR said 3-4 players that will impact the squad. personally.. my two first choices would be buy munian and ramirez, two players who are very young with huge potential. yes they are pricey, but we need to add a few players of this calibre. we bought potential with andy carroll and that was overpaying! 20mill each on these boys would be fantastic business. the striker addition is tough to guess.. but i trust in BR and i think he will be great! well feel free to comment lads, just my two cents!

also a massive thanks to the eds. u boys put up with some s**t! so chin up!

Rab

Well said Rab la.

" but i trust in BR" reminds of all those last year battle cries like " i trust in Dalglish, or his judgment, or whoever he brings will be a hit". I'd suggest that people hold their horses and reserve such remarks for when BR has proven himself (at this, current level)

One of the best posts ive read on here yet.. wll said mate

Great post mate !

I saw a similar post like this yesterday, and ill reply just what I said to the other post. Absolutely! The muniain and ramirez opinion is spot on. These two players together would only near enough match what what carroll cost us (no disrespect to Carroll but his transfer was a little over the top in valuation). The thought of Suarez linking up with a fellow country and especially in ramirez is brilliant. As for muniain, he's already showed he can play in the epl simply by running rings around Man Utd in the Europa. Both these players have sooo much potential its ridiculous! I would be really upset if we missed out on both, not to mention one! As for striker, "IMO" I would love to see rondon or welliton because they're the type if strikers we need (we have our tall man so let's get someone smaller and quicker who can also finish - bit like Suarez but he's more of a wing/cam). A backup central mid would be smart to but like you said about the striker area, I have no clue who would be good for primarily being backup. They're also saying a backup left back in vargas/ armero is smart to have as well. YNWA

Right put the Sigurdsson rumours to bed he is gone to Spurs, don't need him if all he was doing was chasing money. For me Afellay has now to become a serious target. Lille agreed an 8mill fee for him but he turned the offer down, surely Liverpool would be a more appealing offer. He is not far off world class in my opinion and at 8 mill an absolute bargain. Come on Rodgers, get on it.
The Gooch.

Did you watch him during the Euro's? He's a long way of world class.

MR EM

Lucas Gerrard

Suarez Afellay Ramirez
Carroll

Not bad.
With Suso, Downing, Henderson, Cole, Sterling, Coady, Bellamy and new young winger and new striker in reserve.

I don't think him and suarez see eye to eye

I agree but he is a bit injury prone.
derryred

MR EM a lot of great players played poorly at the Euros, look at that t**t Rooney.. why base it on his performances for a struggling team? He plays for Barca and has untold potential. An improvement on what we have anyway or are you one of those guys who thinks we can sign Neymar or worse again one of those guys who think Aquilani is decent and our saviour?

Could you please clarify the "believable" sources or websites. This is the main site I follow but it would be nice to know what other sites arent full of bulls***!

Cheers mate - keep up the good work!

{Ed001's Note - personally I couldn't, the only ones that I would call reliable are the wire services from Reuters and PA. But I am not much of one for browsing the net and surfing other sites, I just don't have the time. Any spare time I have I spend as far away from the comp as possible!}

I'm a believable source; trust me.
My close friend Edison Cavani will vouch for me.

Hey eds , great job , if we need defensive cover , what is wrong with howedes of schalke, he's strong young and good in the air , he could be the next carragher , what do you think? {Ed001's Note - looks good from what I have seen, might be difficult to tempt him over to England though, without big wages.}

Are Liverpool going to sign German striker Andre Schurrle?

I doubt it.

Get serious he wants champions league football

03 Jul 2012 22:17:38
In my opinion, I believe Glyfi Sigurdsson wants to join Liverpool. These are my reasons as to why.

1. His father/agent said he would have made up his mind by Sunday, yet here we are, with no movement whatsoever.

2. He wouldn't be AVB's signing, he would be Levy's signing, so waiting to announce it with the new manager has nothing to do with the Glyfi deal, as it in't his signing.

3. Bale, Van der Vaart, Lennon, Dawson, Parker etc. will be the ones modelling the new kit, so daying the delayment to unveil him with the new kit for me doesn't make sense, as said the current players will be modelling them.

4. He was more than prepared to join Swansea when BR was manager but decided not to join when he left to manage us. Says to me BR being manager was the key factor in him joining Swansea on loan and almost perminently.

5. His so called 'wage demands' seem to be a lousy excuse as to why we apparently cooled our interest. We've signed the most lucrative kit maker and sponsership deals in the clubs history, and with the likes of Henderson, Downing and Carroll all on 70k per week, I can't see it being an issue.

6. being from Scandinavia, him and his Father/agent will know how big Liverpool is. If he himself isn't then his friends certainly will be. He will know that to play for us regardless of wages is a privilege in itself.

7. And finally, to say he is Modric's replacement is naive of the situation. Who says even if Modric wants lo leave, that Levy is going to sell him? He stood firm last year, and would do so again. His role isn't the central midfield role, its the attacking midfield role, or more importantly, Van der Varrt's role. He can't expect AVB to pick him ahead of a fan favourite at Spurs, who can do everything he can with more experience at this level. To play in CM would mean he would have to operate a lot deeper; too deep for his suiteability.

And there you go. My reasons for believing Glyfi Sigurdsson prefers to join Liverpool and not Spurs.

Regardless it looks like he's going to Spurs.

Dirks Engine Room

Well it looks like hes going to spurs

Who gives a s&%T about Sigurdsson?

No name poster but good post semi makes me belive lol but i think he will end up at tottenham although i did like the thought of him joining us. STEMLOCC1

He's off to Spurs mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Very good reasons all told but one important factor on the situation as a whle is this supposed heavy investment for spurs.levy could have had a meeting with gylfi and told him the ins and outs of the dealings and that in a years time he could be on double triple what we offered and thats a sure way to turn a head like even his dad/agent would have to advise him to do wats best for his career.hes a pro and has to think like one god forbid he got hurt he has to make sure hes covered in the best possible way and i would just like to say i wish him the best in his career whoever he should choose..ynwa

Modric played a lot of the season at centre mid, infact and excelled.

But I agree with your logic here. Maybe the stalling is because Brendan is after someone even better though?

SuperDuperSuarez

This site has become the home of the dysfunctional.
Sigurdsson - Big deal !

He may well have preferred to join Liverpool, but I have a feeling his agent has convinced him to go with the cash on offer by Spurs. The icelandic journo who indicted that we may still have a chance is now saying the word across all the press agencies and his network of contacts is he's chosen Spurs and it will be announced any time.

Personally, I'm a bit gutted, as I think he would've been great for us and could see him making an immediate impact on the first team. At Spurs, unless VDV goes (which is by no means certain), he'll sit on the bench and have to wait his turn. Despite the results of Spurs in previous seasons, there's no guarantee under AVB that will continue immediately, so are they a better option than us for success long term?

I trust that Brendan will find a better alternative if he doesn't join, as he doesn't strike me as someone who panics and hasn't got more than one trick up his sleeve

Good luck Gylfi - I have a feeling you'll need it

Could it be because Spurs need a manager to unveil him? And now he is in place you watch him be unveiled in the next 2 days, so it has nothing to do with him wanting to come to Liverpool that's just wishful thinking on your part.

He is not from scandinavia, he is from iceland.

If some one were to bid for Lucus before he got his injury how much do you think he would be worth? (I wouldn't ever sell him just curious)

Mascherano was sold to Barca for around the 25/26 million mark, i would say Lucas is very similar to what Masch was when we sold him, so give or take, Lucas is around that sort of cost, i would guess.

Carb

Gareth Barry was £25m right? So probably in that range if not more.

Anfield Rapstar

Most teams would bid from 12m upwards...Juve would bid 5m...

15m {Ed049's Note - 13million}

A very good friend of mine who lives and works from home in benidorm has told me that gylfi has made up his mind on where he's going next season it looks like spurs ..... 100% believe my source as he's is the man and everything he says is gold dust
Ps DUNK KNOWS BEST alllrrrriiiigggghhhhttttt

Whats benidorm got to do with it? Hardly the hub of European football?

If it's fat Dunk your talking about he does always know the best information, and funnily enough it always seems to be straight after sly have announced it. Strange coincidence that.

Personally Iam glad Demba Ba dismisses speculation linking him to any club. He wrote on his personal Twitter account: "Holla back everybody. So much stuff about me lately. Rumours are rumours! Just forget about it. By the way I had the best holiday ever!"

From sly sports:

sly understands former Swansea star Gylfi Sigurdsson is poised to seal his move to Tottenham in the next 24 hours.

The Icelandic international is expected to be unveiled as new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas' first signing on Wednesday.

Spurs have beaten Liverpool to the 22-year-old's signature with Brendan Rodgers keen to be reunited with the attacking midfielder having signed him last season at Swansea.

Sigurdsson enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Swansea last season and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

The talented playmaker scored seven goals in 19 games for Swansea last term and was named the Premier League player of the month for March.

Swansea had agreed a deal to sign Sigurdsson on a permanent basis, but Rodgers' departure to Liverpool all but saw their hopes of signing him ended.

Spurs are believed to have agreed a fee with Hoffenheim for Sigurdsson with the former Reading man also agreeing personal terms and passing a medical at White Hart Lane.

Sorry to post this but a friend of mine, Claudia was a crew member on the flight that brought the Spanish team back home after Euro's and over heard Piqué having a conversation with Torres. Torres said he is unhappy and intends to hand in a transfer request after his 2 week break. She was clear that he said he really wants to go back to Liverpool. MiguelLethente

Well tell your friend the Judas git is not welcome back

G BOX

Hope so

Why post such s**te, you know your gonna kop (pun intended) for some flak right?

kellyclan

You should be sorry posting that pile of w**k.

MIKEY

Oh dear.

Although i am unsure if i believe you and could possibly get a slating for it, i would like to say that i know what Torres did when he left is pretty much unforgivable, but if we were to go for him, i would welcome him back, not to say i want him back or expect him back, we need to look forward, but i'll explain why. Torres needs Gerrard, Gerrard (and Alonso, but lets not go there) is one of the biggest reasons Torres was the player he was at LFC. Torres might have lost a little pace but with players like Gerrard, Suarez, Carroll and to a small degree Downing buzzin in and around the area's that they do, making the amount of chances we had last season, i reckon Torres would still score a fair amount of goals, he knows where the net is, he proved that by winnin the golden boot in the Euro's. Jus my opinion.

Can you tell me is your friend pepe reina? i thought he was a stewardess on that flight? lol

Why would we go for Ba when we have Carroll. Unless he gets sold, I cant see him coming here. Knowing our luck he will sign and his knee, supposedly a "ticking time bomb", will explode, while Carroll hits it off at Spurs.

F.A.O Mr Sunshine regards his post earlier this evening: THAT... my friend¦ is the best post I have read on this site... EVER! Optimistic, but realistic. As Liverpool supporters, we've all been down this road many times before, false dawns, broken promises, etc, etc. BUT, as I look back at the history of the clubs that have finished above us over the last 10 to 15 years, most, if not ALL of them have had long bleak periods of nothingness, before they found the right mix of: 1-Owners, 2-Scouts, 3-Players, 4-Manager. When these all click, by god, it can be exciting... and make no mistake people, WE WILL reach that point again. It's only a question of WHEN, not IF, LFC rise again. Have faith in Brendan Rodgers and FSG as I think we have the right Manager AND the right owners, that's 2 pieces of the master plan in place. And remember... "All Good Things Come To Those Who Wait"

Stevie.

Please God!

Red4eva

So Sig refused to join Swansea when BR left but he won't go to a bigger club where he is now manager? Can't understand it if he goes to Spurs.

Cant see this anywhere on sly sports web page??

It doesn't make sense. If he goes to Spurs it can only be for money reasons, or he desperately wants to live in london. Its a shame coz Rodgers showed Swansea and Gylfi the ultimate respect by allowing him to speak to Swansea before he made his move.

We didn't offer him enough money so get over it. I know your now going to say but we're Liverpool, but sorry that doesn't mean as much as it used to do. Jack

03 Jul 2012 21:23:06
If Liverpool want Demba Ba he would cost more like 20million not 7million due to the clause in his contract only active if the offering club has champions league football...

03 Jul 2012 21:22:16
eds, city seem to be after some more attackers, would that make Johnson to Liverpool more likely. {Ed002's Note - Perhaps.}

03 Jul 2012 21:21:55
Liverpool should buy De Jong and play. 4-2-3-1 Lucus aqulani, downing Gerrard suarez, De Jong

Unfortunatly mate ent gonna av a specific formation to squeeze in luke de jong

WHY Aquilani?? WHY??

03 Jul 2012 21:17:34
eds do u no why the sig deal is being delayed didnt his dad say on saturday he has made his choice to be announced within 24 hours and hoffenhiem gave him a june 30 deadline aswell so is it cos they wanted to appoint avb for spurs first or are we trying to hijack it ???hate these drawn out sagas wish we could just get our men quickly and move on {Ed002's Note - The "sig deal"?}

Dunno why it's being drawn out like this. Something tells me they are waiting for us to make a move to sign him. Bale, VdV, Lennon, Parker etc. will be modelling the new kit, plus he whasn't even spoken to AVB yet.

How do you know he hasnt are you with him now if so tell him "hey buddy"sign for us that should do it thanks

03 Jul 2012 21:14:27
With rodgers stating he is keeping his transfer targets close to his chest, how on earth do some of these posts state "blah blah is on Rodgers wanted list"? Lets be honest LFC fans, we don't really know. Lets just let the month pass by and welcome any new signings. In BR and FSG I trust, as I'm sure most of us do. YNWA

He doesn't have any targets. lol

Great Joke

You didn't read the previous post so how do you know? lol louder!

The only target Rodgers has, is the dartboard in the pub.

Are they archery targets if so he shouldnt keep them close to his chest he could get hurt

Lucas Leiva @LucasLeiva87
Already in Liverpool . Good to be back :)

r-r

In a way thats like having a new player, welcome back Lucas, you have been missed.

Amen!! The wheels fell off last season when he got injured. Hopefully he will slip back into the fantastic form he had prior to injury. Welcome back Lucas Leiva.

ChrisE

My flatmate is a a Gremio fan from Brazil. He told me Lucas is still worshipped there, and why wouldnt he be ?!..He's a legend, a great guy and a great player. future captain in my opinion.

So the red zico returns,as peters and lee said welcome home,looking to seeing a stronger meaner and leaner lucas leiva putting a few opposition midfielders right in their places.

Cant wait to see him bk,greatly missed lst year.

All those asking for Macca, the Ed's or anyone supposedly in the know needs to rest a little. It's hard to have patience but BR has been in the job a matter or weeks, he hasn't been able to see his squad in action, let alone decide exactly what he needs.

Players such as Aquilani, Cole and Pacheco are returning and how I doubt they'll all be here come the start of the season, Rodgers will still want to see if they're committed to the cause and up to the job. He'll know young players like Sterling and Suso by reputation and perhaps seen them play a little, but he'll want to see first hand and not just take advise from others and reports.

I'm sure he'll know some glaring holes in our first 11, most notably a right winger, goal scoring midfielder/playmaker and perhaps a proven goal scorer or young pacy forward. But he may have some faith in Cole to play right wing, he may think Pacheco and Aquilani have something to offer, as does the much maligned Downing and Adam. Personally bar Downing (who had got scope to return to top form), I'd be happy if they all left along with a couple of others.

My feelings on the lack of confirmed targets by say Macca, highlight that he gets his info from a player(s), as his silence would explain things whilst players are away. His inside staff contacts may have left with Kenny and he won't know BR's new coaches. The Ed's (Ed02) in particular has a lot of contacts within football, people such as agents, scouts etc on that level probably above that too (guess work from reading this site for ever). She has fingers in a lot of pies and gains information from clubs willing to speak (getting word out about players) or agents (who never shut up) wanting to spread the word on their talent. This info will come in a variety of ways but with a new manager accessing his squad it's not so simple.

Press jump down previous linked Swansea players such as Dos Santos etc, but they fill Swansea's needs and not ours. They also go for the blanket approach. Liverpool need a forward, this one might be available, let's print that. They've been right on Sigurdsson as he's been available and it's been fair game for him to be spoken about. If we sign him (which I highly doubt now) then good. If we don't then so be it, we move on to plan B or alternative plan A. Rodgers probably though Sigurdsson would honour his agreement with Swansea, so must have another player in mind.

It's a hard process in summer, the Euro's filled a void but everyone is craving the premiership. Everyone gets so wrapped up in transfer this and player that, but don't remember the window has realistically been open a matter of days. Everyone complains that Chelsea have signed Hazard and United Kagawa, but they've been scouting them for over two years. BR may have kept an eye on players, but most likely with a view for Swansea. LFC scouts may have players in mind, but look what happened last summer and why we're trying to get lots of new scouts. These things will take time, BR will work hard with the board and in my opinion get it spot on.

I think we'll have a positive season, start to see clever disciplined football and not players snatching at every chance we have, like last season. If someone can unleash Carroll, get Suarez to focus and get Gerrard playing like he did in the Euro's consistently then that's half the battle. Add in a solid defence, an improved Pepe and a fit Lucas then you've got the makings of a great team. Three or four signings like BR said and we've got a shot of top 4, especially if RVP leaves Arsenal and AVB loses Modric and VDV. Hopefully we won't need that luck though.

If that's a little jumbled I hope you get the gist, it's tricky to write on an IPhone.

Papa G

Excellent stuff

Is it just me thinking what a waste of time the olympic football lark is. I know everyone wants to play in important competitions but why not leave the olympics for the semi pros and amateur footballers, not the 60/70/ 80k a week stars. i know the tennis and basketballers are in now but the boxers used to use the olympics as a stepping stone to professionalism
DAR

Maybe the youngsters in the teams see it as a stepping stone to the senior teams or to sell themselves to big club sides.

MIKEY

Yeh, agree with what you are saying mikey, just thinking of losing players from your team/squad for a couple of weeks at the start of the season means you might be starting off with a weakened side at a time when you want to have your strongest side out

The twitter account is fake! The picture on there is of a reporter, not Gylfi's father! Here is the same picture used o his account...

He is a script agent called Mel Stein. The account is obviously some Tottenham fan!

You heard it first
LFC_Charlie

Now are you really saying something on twitter isn't true? But its been such a reliable source of information for some time now.
Twitter is a waste of time, its for people who think their lives are so important they need to tell the world about, i mean really who cares what flavor crisps some random C list celebrity likes. Any information you read on there should be at least double checked.

The Sigurdsson transfer saga has become boring very fast and Sly Sports betting company are just trying every trick in the dirty book to milk people out of their hard earned cash.

Hi Ed002 & the other Ed's ive been following this site about 3-4months before all this Liverpool take over with FSG when there wasn't rumour sites for individuel clubs , Loved it then & still do now i look at least 2-3 per day and i dont get is why you put up with the useless sh*t our so called LFC supporters sprout off when all you do is provide valuable information to me and every other LFC fans who view this Worldwide! I have been torn for sometime on what to think of Aquilani. Is he just disinterested in playing for Liverpool? If that is the case why was a deal even made. Surely he must of already had reservations coiming in if always wishes to be loaned out. Every time I see him in preseason he is playing very hard and with pride, and with some impressive effectiveness. Then he fades away on loan.

For me he would be great to have for the style Rogers speaks of implementing as the one thing I have always thought Aquaman has done well at is quickly receiving and distributing the ball in short and long passes with near 0 hesitation. (Something a good majority of LFC midfielders lack at this time)

Although his talent is undoubted and his vision unquestionable he knows how to bite the hand that feeds,but if im honest the lad deserves at least the chance to make us admire and respect him from a footballing stance.

I feel like next season we will do well we have -lucas returning from injury andy carroll is starting to show signs of his old self and we have lots of young youth players to use , using the likes of sterlling and suso in early cup matches will help them to gain strength vital for playing in the premier league brendan seems confident in all of his interviews and if he can make a couple of good signings we will do well, the back bone of the team is great you have pepe who is still world class after a dissapointing season last year- then agger and skrtel who have bonded a strong partenership and who are both at the minute amongst the top defenders in europe then lucas who has came on leaps and bounds and can hopefully retain the form he was at before his injury and lastly both suarez and gerrard who are both world class. Carroll and henderson are both still young and show promising signs people slate them but they shouldnt even though i agree that the money which was payed for them was to much. But if rodgers can get the best out of all the players and makes smart signings i am confident we will do well!

This is a site for RUMOURS and/or BANTER. The Eds work their butts off trying to bridge reality and optimism in terms of these sometimes ludacris rumours. There is no harm in voicing your opinion but its the way you say it. A little bit of common sense and some diplomacy never hurt anybody. Lay off the Editors. They are website administrators. Not Greek Gods!

Happy rumour/bantering!

Thanks

Kam

What's yer point? Some of the eds are pretty random too mate. The truth is, nobody knows who we will sign. Brendan Rodgers will have a short list but that still doesnt mean we will get them.

been using this site for a few years now noticing alot the last yr supposed lfc fans getting in to kenny players fsg etc.. never thought we would have many of them but i believe we have alot of plastic fans who are very impatient.. whats this strike this n that player of the list? what list??.. we do our business in house!.. get behind the club fsg br and do what we do better than most support the club. keep up the good work eds wasnt sure were to post this. ps look at spain cant wait to watch br version of tiki taka .

Considering we haven't seen our team lift the league for over 20 years I say we've been pretty patient wouldn't you?

Agreed but we have been trying. Very trying.

Am I the only one who is hoping we don't sign Sigurdsson after all this hullabaloo? Reminds me of the whole Hazard 'saga' (Not quite near the Cesc-to-Barca level though)

HI Eds great site,
i really hope we start to make signing to help with getting a top 4, as other teams have started.
but as potential players what is our chances of any of the following young players:

-Stephan El Shaarawy
-Iker Muniain
-Moritz Leitner
-James Rodriguez
-Erik Lamela
-Vįclav Pilař

and any update on any transfers

THANKS

Best regards

liverbird {Ed002's Note - Slim at best.}

Their is surely a chance of Munian ed?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Slim at best.}

I thought that Bilbao wanted something like £40 million for Muniain?

Another football manager geek, no doubt never seen half these players play, just using FM12 as a scouting tool

Search my name in the search function and see the what I posted about a week ago.

"Sorry to tell you guys but Gylfi Sigurdsson is going to Tottenham, just met this guy I know that is a very good friend of Sigurdsson and he said he is waiting for a new manager and then he will sign. Will probably be finished at the end of this week. I know many people post here that they are confident something will happen but I am 99% sure that this will happen, I am Icelandic by the way. Just remember the name

Reddie"

That's what I posted. I got shot down by many people and I understand that but let me explain this to you. The population of Iceland is 300.000 people. I know almost every single person in my town, the population of my town is 10.000. The name of the town is "Garšabęr".

I was shopping with my wife when I met a friend of mine that works in a football store and he is a really good friend of Gylfi Žór Siguršsson and those were the times when everybody and even I believed that Gylfi was coming to Liverpool.

I asked my friend where Gylfi is going to end up, he said straight out and without a doubt that he was going to end up at Tottenham, I didn't believe him but I posted what he told me here. Almost every person said that I was talking rubbish and one person said that I should be banned on this site for a week when Gylfi would sign for Liverpool.

I know I have posted something in january and I was only talking rubbish then and I admit that, that was just my guess.

Gylfi has been at a holiday in Iceland with his family. Last weekend he won a golf tournament here in Iceland.

I know many people that know Gylfi and he is 100% going to Tottenham. Sometimes people post something right on this page and don't always shoot them down because what they say can be right.

Reddie

Again. Most definetly a lie.
Your brain cannot remember 10,000 people. Maybe if your brain is that Of Steven hawkin. Also. Why On earth does some Icelandic guy who doesnt come out in the winter suddenly know a pro footballer...? And if I remember correctly, your ip was not the city that ed1 tracked it down from.
AnfieldUSA

Ps- cute try though

Reddie,

This is the Internet, mate. Sometimes people just react the wrong way to what you say. It can be the content that sets them off, perhaps the timing can be wrong, they might have misread (misunderstood) or, as it is mostly the case, people are just looking for a reason to ridicule someone else. I remember your initial post and the reactions it gathered. I didn't believe you then because you were one of the first to say this. But, take it from someone who has posted a few times on this site; don't take it personally.

Canadian Fan

You know 10,000 people, everyone in your town?
I don't even know who lives to the left of me.
I think your fibbing.

MIKEY

10,000 people.....you must have huge muscles in one arm, after writing all those xmas cards.
K79 {Ed042's Note - you haven't exactly been proven right yet? Iv'e seen no formal/official announcement yet..have you?}

I believe you but just to prove it. You have to name all 10000 people in your town.

Reddie,

To be honest, I don't think anyone really cares about where Siggudson ends up now.

Dont matter how many people live in your town or country.when did gylfi last live there?does ya mate know eider gudjonson aswell?

If liverpool got rid of
Adam
Downing
Aqua
Cole
Spearing
Doni/jones

Your looking at 300k+ a week of the wage bill and would recieve a fair few million of the transfers. Then we can begin to spend on better quality. Although it looks like sig is of to spurs i rate him very highly and may regret it in 4/5 years time when he is at his peak. I know its not as easy as that just flogging a few players but it has to be done

Mason

Not as simple as that, you have to find clubs that a) to sign them and b) will meet there inflated LFC wages, Im a newcastle fan and when carrol went to you he went from 40k to 80k allegedly, dont know for sure cos lets face it im not his accountant but thats what was reported, if he can get 80k i presume adam and downing are on around the same, cole and aquilani will no doubt be nearer to 100k, not sure of length of time left on the contracts but my guess would be no other team in the prem would pay distinctly average players like downing, adam and below average players like aqua, cole etc that much, the only way you will get shot of them is if either a russian or far east team comes on for cole or aqua to try and cash in on there once big name, my point is simple.....your stuck with them :) they will do what Smith and Xisco did/are doing to us now, runnning down there contracts on sky high wages then drop to there true level (league 1 and subs bench of second division in spain respectivly)..................... good luck for the season folks :)

03 Jul 2012 16:04:46
Surely if rodgers wants Spanish players which are fast and skilful then surely he would be happy with suso ?

Not good enough for 1st team, Maybe a season on 2 on loan and then we'll see

Not good enough for 1st team...I take it you didn't watch our midfield during the second half of last season?

I think when he is 19 he'd be ready, we need to stop sending our most promising youth out on loan, like pacheco and nemeth they get drawn away from liverpool by first team football. we need to do it like the old days, if your good enough ur old enough.

suso is on par with cole's technical ability (atleast what he showed at liverpool) and same speed. Spain shows that you don't have to be strong to we effective.

Hey Eds,

First of all I'd jst like to tell you how great this site is. One of my favourite!

Okay, so this twitter account is starting to puzzle me. Normally agents don't have twitter accounts, and in this certain circumstance it seems really fishy. Personally I think it's fake, but who knows?

Also, I would love for Demba Ba to come. He has great strength and can finish the ball beautifully. But I don't understand why Victor Moses costs more than him! A bit stupid really...

Thanks for you're time.

Any news on the Sigurdsson deal? {Ed002's Note - No.}

03 Jul 2012 15:52:35
Suso and Sterling MUST be given playing time in pre season, atleast a few games. They both look like players we desperatley need. Suso is a typical Spanish mid fielder, similar to silva and iniesta with the long range passing of alonso. Sterling possesses blistering pace and tricks to scare defenders. these two could literally be world class, they NEED playing time this season!

RDR

I too can't wait to see Suso in action!

I don't want to see either of them go out on loan at any point of their career's at liverpool. we should mold them into the team like flanagan has been. they need to play with world class players in order for them to progress.

03 Jul 2012 15:52:18
why all this fuss over sig of the dump, i do not recall liverpool ever scouting him over the last couple of years, its only because rogers took over, that we are linked.
anyway munain is on way, and an old midfielder is returning, after winning euros. like BR said the players that will come in will make a Big difference.
so ignore all paper talk and wait, end of July 4 players will be in 3 new 1 old face.

03 Jul 2012 15:50:38
BR was on Talksport earlier and announced that he will be bringing in 3 or 4 new players this window, although (as you'd expect) he didn't reveal any names but did say they would be effective for the club...

Mark Davies, Steven Davis, Steven Caulker and Hugo Lloris

03 Jul 2012 15:40:58
EDs or anyone for that matter, just wondering if you could clear up something. With FSG owning 2 sports teams then how do they split their money, is it something like anything LFC make LFC has, and anything the Red Sox make the Red Sox have, or do they share eachothers money kind of thing, like say we sold a player for £30 mil, then would any of that go towards the Red Sox or would that amount just be kept in the LFC loop? I think the owners are great, and although this point isnt too relevant it is interesting to know, thanks! {Ed002's Note - They are two entirely separate investments - there is no financial link or liability.}

Fantastic, Cheers ED002

03 Jul 2012 15:42:17
This is just my opinion, purely speculation, but I think Suarez will stay - he has received a tremendous amount of support from LFC and it's followers during what must have been the hardest point of his career. If a big offer came in, say £35m+ then I think we'd only be able to accept if we could replace him with someone equal to or better than him. The difficulty would be getting a striker worth £35m to sign for a team with no CL. It's amazing that we managed to sign him when we were 12th in the league, and he has the winning spirit LFC needs. You see when playing for his country that with the right service he is a goal machine, which is something he lacked last season. Put him up front for a team like Barca or Real and he would be knocking them in like there's no tomorrow. He fits in with Rodgers plans and we need him next season. I think he will stick around for a few more seasons and then go to one of the top clubs in Spain.

Of course the media want to tell us he will leave, he's our best player and we've had a battering from them this year, obviously they have learned that they can no longer use Gerrard leaving to worry us.

No disrespect to the Eds who think he would go, but if he is being offered a new contract surely we still want him?

I dunno, maybe I'm wrong, but it just doesn't make sense to me.

Super

03 Jul 2012 15:00:12
eds do you think last januarys window has a lot to do with the silly stories and that basically we the fans just want to sign someone instead of no one , becaue in janaury when we needed to sign a striker we never signed anyone and the teams that did ended up above us , newcastle signed papiss cisse and everton signed jelavic , as our team was firing blanks one of these players would have helped us to finish higher , plus the last time we signed someone for the 1st team was last summer , it seems a long way now , thats why loads of us are hungry for information on any new signing , even if they are not that good , people are going on about demba ba , ok he was good for the 1st half of the season but once cisse came in he never realy scored as much as he was doing , and as good as gylfi sigg is is he a liverpool type of player , only a few years ago we would not be looking at these players , any way its what i think , i am most probably wrong but i know im looking for us to get back into the market and sign any one

03 Jul 2012 15:13:20
was just reading a comment on skysports. a spurs fan was saying how redknapp was never gonna challenge for league, 4th place not good enough, villas boas the way forward. ha spurs will be back were they belong next season then you will see that stupid fan supporting chelsea. cringy fan

Back where we belong ! still above you lot then ! FACT

Much love

They have got very big headed redknapp is partly to blame for this, and he heaped on the pressure on the next manager the other day on sly by saying he brought them to a point were they can win the league ,ahwell no more transfer deadline day with arry hanging outa his range rover slabbering all their buisness to the world.Tommy Irish Red.

It rally is only recently that Spurs have become somehat competitve at the very top level , but kudos while it lasts just remember where you were only a few short seasons ago .

EdWood

Much love what did you win,how many times do you finish above us?mmwwwahh x

Normal liverpool fans talking about history and other clubs - why not concentrate on liverpool!! Both Rodgers & AVB have big jobs to do. Your only as good as your last season and in point tottenham played better football

Hey Macca
Any news on the Sig deal.
Thanks Scosered

03 Jul 2012 14:29:58
hi eds surely if BR has to sell before he can buy big he would not sell surez , theres skertal and even agger ( seeing agger is injured so much and cant seem to play a whole season ) to get some big funds in , we would still have kelly and coates to come in plus we could have one hell of an attacking line , all im saying is that there other players to sell before suarez to get the funds up , and isnt it great BR is not coming out crying to the media and fans about having not much to spend and trying to blame it on the owners , a bit like a certain spanish manager did ,

Its pointless trying to build a strong squad by selling all your best players. We will sign players this summer without having to sell our best players. Money is there, there's no indication that there isn't money available.
We don't need to sell in order to buy.

03 Jul 2012 14:10:04
BR does like moses but not at the figure being quoted. He puts a similar value chelski did on the kid. So interest has gone for now. We can all thankfully forget about victor moses.

Well that's good news, but there is one question - how on earth do you know what BR thinks???

I certainly hope this post is true, imo, Moses is at best a 3million£ player, i cannot for the life of me, see what anyone sees in the lad......

Hi ed great work, just wanted everyone's views on Suarez and a 30 mil transfer fee. To me that is a joke this player has the poten to be one of the greats and selling him for that price is shocking. {Ed042's Note - I personally wouldn't take £30mil for Suarez}

Shouldn't sell for 30m as he is worth far more than that...however, that amount is much higher than some of the rubbish bids that have been rumoured about from teams like Juve...

Seems we buy high sell low ,other clubs taking the piss when it comes to dealing with us

I'd say 50 mill at least he is only going to get better....

If cavani would cost 40m euros than suarez is worth more or at least the same, he is his countries no9 not cavani he is

03 Jul 2012 13:40:13
"I very much keep my own counsel and it is certainly the Liverpool way to do that. I am looking to potentially bring in some players that can really affect the group. I have got a wonderful group of players here at the moment. I read every day players that are linked with Liverpool. Unfortunately, especially for the supporters, it is a difficult time because you have agents linking players with Liverpool just purely because it is great for them to be linked with such an institution of a club. But the reality is that there are very few players who could actually come and make a difference at Liverpool. That is something we will always keep close to our chest. I have had a brilliant chat with Luis, he is really looking forward to being here and we are obviously hoping to get him on another contract. He is really looking forward to the new season."

Hopefully that should silence the Suarez leaving rumours.

I like Rodgers more everytime I hear him speak. He's intelligent and his knowledge of the game is obvious.

The players i think we should sell are;

1. Spearing (he tried)
2. Adam (his movement isn't sharp enough and he looses the ball ALOT)
3. Downing (doesn't suit the system at all)
4. Kuyt is gone
5. Maxi likely to go although would love him to stay for a season or half a season to help us with Europa League.
6. Pacheco out on loan to swansea or Villa.
7. Jones free

Two players to return
Cole (out wide somewhere, in the maxi role)
Aquilani (replacing his intended replacement adam)

if we can get these 4 players

DM; Gago = £7m
Winger / SS / ; Ramirez = £16.5m
Second Striker / LWF; Jovetic = £21m
Wing Forward / Winger; Tello = £7m
= £51.5m - £19m (player sales)
= £32.5m

imagine a front 3 of ramirez, suarez & jovetic.
backed by a midfield three of lucas, gerrard & aquilani
backed by one of the best defenses in the PL; johnson, skrtel, agger & enrique
with the best ball distributing / Sweeper goali; Pepe {Ed049's Note -

So many hypocrites on here...

If someone say we missed out on Diame to West Ham or Sigurdsson has chosen Spurs over us. Then you all say ''Thats just paper talk'' and ''Dont believe everything you read in the papers''.

Now, Today 3 papers have linked us with a 7m move for Demba Ba and all the people who say ''paper talk'' are posting comments saying ''Is the Ba story true?''... ''Ba will be great for us''...

Hats off to the Eds, Id love to know how much rubbish actually does'nt get posted on here. pord. {Ed022's Note - You wouldn't mate, it is literally infinite.}

I know he's been offered to Liverpool, not sure Liverpool interested

Agreed. I say just don't believe anything the papers say whatsoever.

The Suarez/Dalglish saga just demonstrates how they are all parasites just writing trash to make a story.

Gh*Lfc

The papers are writing things to fill their colomns. Otherwise they would just have blank pages for their readers

03 Jul 2012 13:14:33
Makes me very nervous when a manager or owner comes out and makes comments like that

Last time BR made a comment like that he left Swansea for us

Now he has left it as we want him to stay but it will be Suarez's call whether he accepts £150k per week from PSG

It would be better if Lfc come out and say Suarez is not for sale at any price and has agreed to an extension of his contract

What BR has said has just left the door wide open by saying Suarez has not committed his long term future to Lfc

Leam Red

Some idiots on here, you're one of them

He isnt going to lie

Juve can't offer him that plus are they any better than us. The answer is no. However they do have champions league but he came to lfc when they were nowhere near champions league. PSG are probably no longer interested as they have signed lavezzi.

LFC don't have to respond to idle gossip... Our club is being run in the correct way wrt signings and departures, the lack of news means we our conducting our business behind closed doors not constantly in the public domain. All BR did was respond to a direct question and said he'd like to get Luis to sign a new contract. Of course if we get a mind boggling offer he could still be sold but it was encouraging....

Richards

If livepool dont get into the champions league over the next 2 or 3 years do you expect suarez to stay ?

At last we have a realistic manager who speaks fantastically well.

We do indeed have a manager who speaks well...I also think we have a manager who will get us into the CL within 2 years
Milamber

You have learn to read between the lines when it comes to negotiations and especially the murky world of football transfers and agents

A simpleton is one who takes everything at face value and only has a one dimensional view on things or on all things Liverpool

How many players have come from from the dutch league with a price tag of over £23m ?
Suarez, despite all his baggage is a game changer and there are clubs that would love to have him and tempt him with more money and a faster track to success

I for one hope he stays as he is key to our success because of his age

Leam Red
I maybe too cynical but not an person as I live in the real world where money talks
I remember KD coming out and saying Torres is going nowhere and look what happened there
Have you ever seen the look of frustration on Suarez's face when the players around him do not have the same vision and tactical ability as him
When he signed he expected to play alongside The likes of Torres not Spearing and Victor Moses and co

I know we've just had the euros, but im missing football dudes, can't wait for pre season games to start. Trying to fill the void with tennis........Its just not the same. Hopefully we'll have some transfer news soon. Come on Brendan get your skates on :)

U19s European Championship plus the Olympics should get you through.

It's not Rogers fault we're not bringing anyone in, it's the owners. Rogers doesn't personally finance transfers. In no doubt Rogers will have identified targets, if the owners penny pinch and don't stump the package, we don't get them.

Well it is their money after all

hi ed's, please post as i would be interested to hear peoples opinion. Ok, so firstly, i love reading the site, although i admit that i take much of what is said with a pinch of salt. If i read a rumour regarding a player i like i "hope" it's true rather than believe it might be! 100's of posts are published on this site and i just feel that surely there can't be that many genuine "insiders" with sources at a club like Liverpool. I myself have posted rumours on here myself but these are purely based on things i have read elsewhere, heard whilst in and around anfield (at matches, stadium tours and the like) or even just heard in the pub. The only time i posted anything from a "source" was when i was sat on a table with Jan Molby at a sportsmans dinner a few years ago and he suggested Fernando Torres wasnt happy and would be leaving in the near future! Basically what i'm saying is, do people think many people on this site have genuine sources, do alot of these rumours come to fruition or is it just a bit of a laugh and a discussion board about who people "hope" we will sign? Either way i will continue to read avidly and post when i can be it with genuine information or purely opinion. thanks people {Ed022's Note - Some of us Editors do have 'genuine sources', and I cannot speak on behalf of the posters, so I will allow them to answer.}

I think most of the posters on here "hope" we are signing a certain player, rather than know we are signing said player. Although most of the posts can be taken "with a pinch of salt ( bar macca and the ed's) it is important to stress this is a site where Liverpool fans can express opinions, thoughts maybe fiction if they so desire. No matter what the content of a post, this site always provides an enjoyable read in comparison to other forms of media ( papers, sly sports). I for one am an avid fan and will continue to be as long Liverpool fans all over the globe get to express their views.

Cheers

Now that Liverpool have a new manager and hope to play in a similar style to Barca and Swansea. Will they hold on to players like Pacheo and Suso who could potentially fit well into this style of football.

Suso yes but Pacheco isn't good enough.

Raheem Sterling as well, its time to reap the benefits of our youth academy.

Pacheco not good enough? you mean he wasn't crap enough for kenny.

03 Jul 2012 12:51:26
Ramirez and Rondon that will do us till January and will get us closer to 4th.

And tello or krasic

2011/2012 League Statistics

Jesus Navas, RW - 5 goals, 14 assists
Clint Dempsey, LW - 17 goals, 7 asssts
Yohan Cabaye, CDM - 4 goals, 9 assists
Demba Ba, ST - 16 goals, 2 assists

Brendan Rodgers wants 3/4 new additions.
These 4 players are exactly what we need. They are quality players, and affordable!

Red Lee

Navas has home sickness issues, he will not leave spain, a has a degenerative knee issue and it could break at any time, dempsey although a good shout age is against him and i don't see the toon selling cabaye unless someone offers them silly money, which we won't. try again mate.
huddz red

Not Navas again!
Indian Buzzer

I would rather 2 of Munian Ramirez and rondon than give Newcastle another 30 million as they seem to spend it very wisely plus I think it is better to only sign about 2 young players who will really make a difference plus it doesn't load the wage bill.

Gk:
The reports of Liverpool being interested in Hugo Lloris are just stupid. Even if we were why would he choose us over Arsenal and AC Milan who are also interested in the French international. Plus he wants Champions League football and we can not provide that next season. We have already got a world class keeper in Reina and to find a shot stopper of his quality could cost alot of money.

LB:
Jose Enrique will be a solid starter next year and we will not be looking for a replacement.

RB:
A few teams have looked at Glen Johnson one of them is Real Madrid who normally make an offer so big which clubs just can't refuse. But after a great euros for the England right back I'm sure that Brendan Rodgers will fight to keep him.

CB:
Both Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger are top of a few teams transfer lists but both of the centre back pairing insist they will be at Anfield next season. Sebastian Coates is starting to look like a great hope for the future with Martin Kelly being developed into a centre back just in case one of Skrtel or Agger do decide to move on.

CDM:
Lucas has been out pretty much the whole of the season but if fit should be a definite starter. Let's just hope that he can continue the form he showed at the start of last season.

CAM:
No signings need to be made in this position. Gerrard is obviously going to be the player that fills it. We have a few replacements for it. Henderson (who is not a winger), Adam and even Joe Cole if we give him another chance. Siggurdsson would be great but I think he has chosen Spurs and is just waiting for them to unveil their kit before they announce him so they can reveal him in it.

RM:
I think the two wings is where the signings need to be made. Gaston Ramirez will make a difference and although he's twenty million he's worth it.

LM:
I think Victor Moses will be the other signing because he plays the same football that Brendan Rodgers likes. Him and Ramirez can also switch wings and Sterling may grow into a first team footballer.

ST:
Suarez will not leave and has had a discussion with Brendan Rodgers about a his future. He says he is looking forward to next season and wants to sign a knew contract. We should not sell Andy Carroll as he is just finding form and next season him and Suarez will be a great partnership.

Thanks
Scousered

I would rather someone else instead of Moses. I think Munian would be perfect but there are other options like affellay susaeta who will be much cheaper than Moses.

We need a cdm if lucas gets injured we are screwed we have no 1 to fill in for him bar spearing and he is crap

We should go strong for ramirez £16.5m, M'vila for £16m and Tello for £7.5m = £40m

IMO Rodgers could be scouting for a left forward to complement Carroll at centre forward and Suarez at right forward. Singred

Yes, Gaston Ramirez.

(7) Luis Suarez
(10)Gaston Ramirez
(9) Andy Carroll

Now that's a front three with a bit of everythin!

Why oh why are we being linked with all the players i keep reading about?? These are players linked with swansea when rodgers was in charge of them!! We are liverpool, no disrespect to swansea but come on we need to aim higher than this n the sooner rodgers realises he no longer in charge of swansea the better!
RED4LIFE

Of course he realises this, hes very intelligent and knows the game and understands the club. You are a fool who obviously believes everything you read.
Go to the talksport web site and listen to Rodgers' interview from today.

Rodgers does realise it. Didnt you keep track with his interview?

You do realise Rodgers has no control over who the papers link us with?

It's just made up by journalists - why blame it on Rodgers?

03 Jul 2012 12:43:57
Its safe to say that average players such as Moses, Davies etc are not targets and that the select few targets must surely be special players or those that possess great promise if they are to affect the starting 11. This is very interesting, we obviously should not expect fantasy signings but I think for the first time in years we can expect players of quality that clearly make both financial and tactical sense. Don't count your chickens but so far Rodgers appears to be an inspired move by FSG.

Cheers JY

Yay!! A positive post! Eds i'll get the champagne!

Eds, what has happened to the rumours of us signing Rondon from Malaga, was there ever any interest? Many thanks and good job you're all doing!

hi ed after reading the interview og rodgers i hope we will sign these 5 players.
1. ramirez
2. a.johnson
3. moses
4. krasic
5. vargas
what u reckon ur response will appreciate.
thanx great site {Ed022's Note - Technically speaking they're all possible. Adam Johnson is not realistic though in my humble opinion, whereas the other players are certainly possible as Liverpool have displayed interest in all of them.}

I would only want Ramirez from those 5 to be honest.I would love Walcott to be bought as well.He's a red at heart and I think our shirt on his back would take him to the next level.

I am not a fortune-teller unfortunately.}

Hello Eds and fellow Reds!

Listening to the Brendan Rodgers interview on Talksport there's a couple of interesting points.
He mentions how hes looking at possibly four players coming in, "three or four players who will make a difference," but how that he also likes to keep things "close to his chest" which he states fits in with the Liverpool tradition.
He also makes the point of so many players being linked with Liverpool through the media and points out that more often than not it's players agents that put a lot of these stories out there which he admits can be hard for fans as they don't know what to believe.
He seemed to be quite convinced that Suarez will be getting offered a new contract as soon as possible and that Luis is looking forward to the new season with Liverpool and looked at Suarez being at the Olympics as a very positive thing in terms of being fit and ready to go when he gets back to Liverpool. He seems a very positive thinking guy.
As far as Im aware we have 3 players going to the Olympics in Bellamy, Suarez and Coates (please correct me if I'm wrong) but the way Rodgers was describing it it sounded like we had more going there, maybe other players that are joining the club? Ramirez? Sinclair? Abel Hernandez? to name a few, who knows, maybe I'm reading too much into it.
I still like the way he talks and he sounds very confident. He answers the question of does he feel intimidated with the size of the club and all that goes with it with the answer of whenever he walks into the club or the training ground he "feels inspired," and talks about seeing European cups, League trophies, pictures on the walls of Shankly etc as all forms of "inspiration" rather than intimidation.
All in all I am still very impressed with Rodgers so far, I like the way he speaks, he's confident, intelligent and his knowledge of the game really stands out. I'm confident that signings will be made and also confident that by the sounds of it he isn't rushing out to buy any tom, dick or harry, that it really sounds like he's putting a time and a lot thought into getting the right 3 or 4 players to make that difference that he talks of. Which to me indicates 3 or 4 players of genuin quallity.

hi eds do you have an idea whats happening with jack robinson and john flanagan? i personally think they are brilliant young players who could have a big future but they dont get a chance in my opinion {Ed022's Note - I believe Robinson will be loaned out, but that is not set-in-stone. As for Flanagan, I believe he will stay and be used as a back-up.}

03 Jul 2012 12:28:54
Ed, I.Y.O where would you bracket FSG's spending power compared to our rivals? And 2nd question,How come Spurs appear to have fair bit Financial clout now a days? Thanks {Ed022's Note - I don't really have much time for rating our spending powers to be honest with you. I would say that Liverpool are in a better position financially than most.}

Hi eds. Last year there was some rumours about an urugay midfielder walter gargano. He plays for napoli. What do you know about his situation? Have he been scouted by Liverpool. In my opinion he is a very good midfielder. Reminds me about macherano.

Anyway great website. Love it. but i hate the silly season.. To many agents puttng out rumours for their clients to actract interest. Ref... Lavezzi. {Ed022's Note - No idea mate.}

hi eds and reds ..just a bit of a triva question do you know any one player who has won all 3 of are domestic cups..champs lge ..euros and world cup..only 3 i can think off who even come close r ..torres..terry henry and schmeical[not the dog from corrie]....dave d {Ed022's Note - Torres has won the CL, Euro's and World Cup.}

Torres hasn't won the premier league, which is one of the 3 domestic cups. So he isn't in that group.

Henry never won the league cup so you can rule him out. There is nobody that has won all three english trophies as well as the rest. unless you include charity shield and take out the league cup then you have henry pires viera!!!

Can you shed any light on the player or the rumour?

Hi eds so pleased to hear suarez is staying now everyone can stop asking you every 5 mins but heres another name am sure your gonna be glad to stop seeing is gaston ramirez im just wondering do you think if the other teams interested in him eg.juve,napoli,and wolfsburg start bidding it will force us to show our hand and where do you think in your opinion he would choose including us would he wanna be with the likes of suarez and coates 1 more Thing dont you think we that if we were seriously interested in him since they are training at our training ground could'nt we sign him 1st thanks for all the hard work {Ed022's Note - The training ground makes little difference to be honest, and there is no latest on Ramirez I'm afraid.}

Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson says discussions between Liverpool Football Club and Liverpool City Council over the club's stadium plans are encouraging, but maintains the local residents are the priority.

"It's frustrating for the local residents and they are my main concern," he tells the Liverpool Echo. "We are pushing for a speedy resolution to the issue of whether the club stays at Anfield or goes to Stanley Park, but we are encouraged by the discussions."

Good post. Small steps then, but steps none the less.
It annoys me when you get people come on here saying, why isn't the stadium issue sorted out yet? What are the club playing at? What they don't realise is that people live round there, there's a lot of issues to sort out, this is peoples homes and peoples lives.
Its not just about the club, its also about the people.

Roads concerned are derelict.Yes its peoples lives,but one road has about 6 houses occupied others boarded.Cant see wht you'ld wana stay there

I know its not as easy as that just flogging a few players but it has to be done

i personally think br cant attract big name players to liverpool mark davies of bolton omg {Ed005's Note - The Mirror reported that? You are stupid if you believe what those tools report mate. That's why they report stuff like that - so that people like you will make comments like that and surround BR with negativity.}

Rodgers was linked with him at Swansea before Davies went to Bolton. It's a recycled story and a load of journalistic rubbish to fill in a space in a newspaper. If you listen to Rodgers in his talksport interview he states that some players' agents also 'link' their players to certain clubs to try and link them to a big club or to get a better contract where they are. A lot of rubbish gets thrown around, dont believe everything you read. He talks about 3 or 4 players coming in "to make a difference" do you really think Mark Davies will be one of those, I dont.

Did you know the word 'gullible' isn't in the dictionary?

03 Jul 2012 11:26:26
So everybody speakinig about suarez and reina leave and which striker shall we buy. Spain was playing without a single striker and won the Euro cup. So if we pass and move right, have our set up situations and if our players in mid field can score ok. But at firts we need playmakers - like Xabi and Gerrad, we need player like Mascherano to hold the ball, to stop the attacks away from our penalty area, we need really good players to pass the ball. Who can do it? Lukas - may be like mascherano, just maybe. Who will make the game - Gerrard - too old/ max 1 season at this level. All the other boys - Adam, Downing, Henderson are crap. Maxi can help. Suarez will help - he is moving too much and is very hard to track, also very tricky and very quick. So we need at least 3 very good players to pass the ball and a good system

chris christov BG

More like 5-6 players we need a squad with this intense style of play. agree with adam and downing being rubbish,
give henderson time maybe the new system will suit him.

Lucas is better than Mascherano though? He doesn't give away cheap free kicks and is a better passer of the ball

Henderson and Downing will be a lot better this season than last, although I didn't think Henderson was that bad, esspecially when he played more in the middle.

03 Jul 2012 11:25:56
Saw an interesting post earlier about the prospects of getting Demba Ba and Cabaye from Newcastle and Carroll heading the other way in a straight swap. No cash involved.

Regardless of the legs in that rumour, would we see that as a good deal, bearing in mind the kind of football BR obviously wants to play?

Im interested to see if LFC fans would take that deal?

Agree - Yes
Disagree - No

Red G

Demba ba is a good player but his leg's are shot it would be just our luck we would get him and a couple of month's later his leg will fall of carroll will go the other way and end up been top scorer now that would really hurt can you imagine the out cry if that happened carroll showed signs near the end of last season that he will be a lot better this year

Can see logic in the deal

Ba with a reported £7m clause and cabaye i think bought for 6mil-ish, had good season, in french squad at euro's so 10-12milish seems about right.

on other hand i think most of would agree that if he was available and a club offered £20mil-ish for AC, we'd take it.

we get a good solid midfielder and an excting goal scoring striker for Luis to partner. it's true re his legs but surely can't be any worse than Aurelio was! he's got dodgy knees (me too!) but it's worth the punt - quality player.

you never know, dafter things have happened....

Sineer21

Good point about Ba's legs. I seem to remember he had problems with a Stoke medical a couple of years back.

I was on the fence, but that has swung me. No deal!

03 Jul 2012 11:20:41
We have a massive wage bill and we are looking for probably 3 or 4 decent players. Why not buy 1 or 2 great young players like Ramirez and Munian which will drastically improve us. This probably wiser fininancially too and we just keeping adding 1 or 2 a summer. If injuries occur we have a some fantastic young players who can get their chance and hopefully take it. To be fair at least rodgers comments are encouraging in regards to transfers. Thanks jc

03 Jul 2012 11:10:28
Just something on Suso, i've heard rumours he has just 12 months on his contract, do you know if the club will be offering a new one this summer because at 19 he looks as if he could become a superb player especially in Rodgers style football

Surprised he's not on a longer term deal. Hope we get that one sorted asap!

He will be offered a new contract. I think he'll make a big break through at Liverpool this season. He's gonna be a special player and he fits in with Rodgers' style.

Hey eds, would you mind clarifying this for me. Raheem Sterling has said Rodgers wanted him at Swansea on loan last season, wouldn't he have been to young to go on loan as some eds have said he can only go on loan when he turns 18??

Hi Eds. With all these so called fans looking at the worst case scenario all the time cause we aint signing cavani, messi, ronaldo etc.... do you think that after the transfer window closes there will ber some optimisum finally after 3 bad seasons? I believe that fsg are going to make us great just seems that half the people are after instant success, how much have man city spent in 3 years. 200 - 300 hundred million and have only 2 cups to show for it, people need to remember all great teams have blips and we are coming out of a very bad one i dont know if people realise how bad the H&G ownership was, and FSG need time to fix it! AJH316 {Ed005's Note - If all goes to plan in this transfer window I'm sure the fans will be pleased and hopefully we will be more optomistic going into next season and that will ring around Anfield, rather than the moaning and groaning fans creating an awful atmosphere at the club and at Anfield.}

Just a question, in your opinion would you say there is any chance of Yohan Cabaye moving this summer, even to LFC? {Ed049's Note - I don't think so, unless they get an offer too good to turn down.}

Geordie supporter here: Why would Yohan Cabaye want to move to Liverpool? He is at a bigger club, a better run club, bigger attendances, a club which finished above Liverpool in the league, has seen what has happened to Carroll and Enrique (who said Newcastle would never qualify for Europe) and he loves the area and is worshipped by the supporters - WHY MOVE? {Ed005's Note - A bigger club? Absolutly nothing to suggest that. We've got a far far far bigger worldwide support than Newcastle, bigger income and are known across the world. Bigger club haha good joke. A better run club - excuse me but weren't yous calling for Ashley's head? Idiot. Bigger attendances only because you have a slightly bigger arena, we could sell out 70,000+ every week if we wanted to - and that is with Everton competing across the park - yous are the only club in your area and wouldn't even get near that. Finished above us in the league yet we'd consider where you finish a total failure, and you consider it a total success. Difference? Stop being a typical deluded Looney Toon fan and thinking you are a bigger club when indeed you aren't. A flash in the pan season doesn't change that. On Carroll and Enrique - why do you think they moved? Why not stay at a "bigger club" Duh!}

Ashley would probably want 50m for him and knowing us we will pay it - remember the Carroll transfer.

Which I hope we don't give them.

I was going to reply, but I think Ed005's eloquent reply said it all.

Newcastle will 100% finish above Liverpool this season,Liverpool will be lucky to get top 10 LOL, as a club Liverpool are finished they are nothing no other prem team fear them any more hence you were crap at home, teams fear the geordies because we are young hungry exciting and a good team were Liverpool are just CRAP. Geordie power {Ed005's Note - Thanks for providing a constructive response and arguement to oppose all of my above points. "Liverpool are just CRAP" - I have to say that totally defeated all of us LFC fans we just have no comeback for that. Geordie power? More power in one of my farts after a dirty kebab on a Friday night mate.}

Lets be honest - he'd move for the money (and so'd we if we were in that situation.)

Champions League is a draw, anything else isn't worth anything except money to nearly all players.

How many trophy's your players pick up last year? how many did Carroll and Enrique get? and both in the same European comp...

We shall see you next season muppet...

i hope we miss out on both Johnson and gylfi. for me the former is no different to downing and the latter ishave yet another player we have no need for. for all gylfis attributes he lacks out and out pace and plays in none of the positions we need strengthenin in

just a thought

Sean wondee

Well i would be happy with either or both, johnson is miles better than downing and sigurdsson could be anything rodgers wants him to be, and both players would provide an instant upgrade on what we already have at anfield

Gylfi doesn't need pace; nor does Van der Vaart at Tottenham; they both control the game and score goals.

03 Jul 2012 09:48:40
Hello Eds,
let's be honest. With United, City and Chelsea investing hard we are way off. So can Liverpool get back to CL football? Highly unlikely...Let's just hope that the moves we make will allow LFC at least to be in contention for 4th spot. Good day. {Ed049's Note - I believe if we do some astute business in the transfer market we'll be in the contention for the 4th spot.}

I THINK THE TEAM TO WATCH OUT FOR NEXT SEASON IS NEWCASTLE THEY ARE GETTING A REALLY GOOD TEAM TOGETHER. SAV {Ed049's Note - What's up with the Caps-lock?}

How about concentrating on what our club is doing rather than what the others are doing? Who they sign or what they do is nothing to do with us.

Tristan

I have to agree. Lets be honest we cannot compete with those teams. We will go nowhere with FSG they do not have enough money and lack ambition like in Jan transfer window. If they sell Suarez then we will not finish in the top 14. Ive never been a fan of FSG. I think they see liverpool as an investment which they will sell at the right price. I do not think that they care too much about football. If there was a big baseball game for the red sox or a big football match for liverpool where do you think they will be. {Ed049's Note - You need to show some belief in FSG, they are in for a long haul. You realize they did invest heavily in the squad last summer, can't help it if Kenny blew all the cash on average players.Sorry mate but the truth is always hard to swallow.}

LFC has about as much chance of getting 4th spot as Doddy has of paying taxes

Well said Tristan ...

Jordan Henderson, a cracking player with bags of potential.

Andy Carroll, a towering centre forward with bags of potential.

Luis Suarez, a genius at his best.

Jose Enrique, a fantastic laft back.

Stewart Downing, brilliant for the first 5 games of the season but things didn't go his way and lost all confidence. It never returned.

Charlie Adam, was actually not bad until Lucas got injured, then went downhill fast.

Coates, won young player of the Copa America and could become a brilliant centre half in the future.

Doni, an assured back up keeper on a free.

Bellamy, absolutely brilliant when he played, again on a free.

So ed, I don't buy into your thoughts that Dalglish wasted the money. Nor do I believe the owners aren't willing to invest. They are responsible owners and I think they will lead us back to the top. For most of the season Liverpool played some of the best football in the premier league and were desperately unlucky not to be further up the table. Kenny bought a strong base, so that we could add real quality players this window and push on. I think his plan was very good and we need to thank him for what he did personally.

KiwiRed

Calm down sav. No need to yell, mate;)

Newcastle have proved that it does not have to cost a fortune to get yourself back in the mix. You've just got to make clever, shrewd buys and start putting a skillful, young, competitive team together.

Nice one Kiwired. Totally agree with your post. Far too easy to blame Kenny out of turn. If those players didn't perform or gel, that might be the managers fault but we bought good players with very good stats and potential.
ND

To say Newcastle have a great squad is very narrow minded. Their players performed really well and took teams by suprise, but do you really think that half their team is even top half worthy? Sure Cisse, Cabaye and Coloccini did well but they have more average players in their first XI than us.

Ed do you think its likely that we will use a 4-3-3 formation this year with Rodgers? Presumably the positions that we are looking to cover make a 4-3-3 formation such as going after a central attacking mid to play with gerrard and lucus in the middle and a winger and a striker to play with Suarez( which in my opinion will be playing a more wider role instead of a striker)upfront, of course that's if he stays. Thanks :) {Ed005's Note - I think that will be the dominant one personally mate but I think we'll use different shapes but with the same ethos and same group of players, depending on the match or score for example. I think it'll be close to that anyway - can't see him going with a 4-4-2 ever.}

I think you should focus less on traditional formation titles and more on the role players have. In the modern game nowadays you might play 442, 4231, 433 or 4411 with slight adjustments... it's more a question of flexibility and how the game develops.

Listen up everybody Rodgers himself has told talk sport that Saurez is going nowhere and there is an even longer contract on the table if he wants it so stop panicking.
Also he said everybody gets linked with us because there agent's say so because of who we r. So take no notice of most rumours the ones that sound daft more or less but he did say he WILL bring in three or four so let's bepationent (spelling).

Sig and Tottenham is not as nailed on as people are thinking. We have made an improved offer, but financially, Tottenham's offer is better. The main difference between the two offers is that Tottenham can not guarantee first team football, wheras he will have more opportunities with us.
Also, there are talks of a Man City style take over at Tottenham which would mean that their transfer targets would significantly change.

As things stand, it is looking more likely that Sig will be joining us, with that being said, nothing is certain until he has signed on the dotted line.

Hope this helps.
LeeC

He may have a better chance of 1st team football at LFC but I am sure no one is guaranteed a place. A dip in form can always mean a few weeks "rest".

So your saying spurs r way better than us if they get city money we may forget about any champions league ever again.never mind winning the league.

Pity Fenway couldnt find Mega investment financially and not just for Stadia.Muller is more and more what its about.Dont get/or dont have and you may do well ala Geordies.But you wont get in Champs Leauge.Sadly thats the way it is.Huge cash reserves mean you can afford best players,and even afford some mistakes too

Spurs are gonna lose Modric and VDV, I think he'll get more game time there.

03 Jul 2012 09:08:15
if we can sign the trio of adam johnson , rameirez and siggy I don't think we need to buy a striker, these boys have goals in em .. Assuming (and I'm sure of it ) suarez stays .. at this point we are reasonably linked to all three and u never know ..... True red

We would still have to buy a striker for the squad I think. It should be the priority after last season.

The Sig saga has dragged on longer than originally expected, Hoffenheim originally gave it until the 30th June for a decision to be made.
Why the delay?
Unfortunately I think it is so that Tottenham can confirm the AVB appointment before they announce Sig's signing.
Looks like we have missed this one..... Think he will regret it, will end up sitting on their bench.

30th of June was to have an agreement in place, not necessarily to have signed on the dotted line.
If the buying club contacts Hoffenheim to agree the deal, that means an agreement is in place. It will generally take a few days to iron out the details and do the medical. Once the signing is 100% complete, we'll hear about it.

I still think he'll be at Liverpool this coming season, the only other club that would give away so little information may well be Swansea, so it's us or them still, that's my view anyway.

So we have been given until the end of July to finally make a decision on whether we stay at Anfield or move to Stanley Park, surely it can't be that hard to make the decision...

If we redevelop Anfield and let's say for argument sake we increase the capacity to 60k, at a cost of £120-150 million it could take 18-24 months before its completed. During this time match day receipts will go down due to building work etc, which will have a direct impact on the clubs transfer markets for the next two years. Little money to spend and a squad inferior to our rivals for a top 4 position, therefore no Champions league.

Or we decide to leave Anfield and go for a new build in Stanley Park with a capacity of 70-75k at a cost of 300 million to be completed in two years time. It's obvious the club are in final negotiations with 2-3 Global companies for naming rights for a new Stadium, therefore Mr Henry won't have dig deep into funding the project. We then continue to play infront of 45-46k at Anfield for the next two years continue to invest and improve the squad over this period with one or two very good players each season. In two years time BR will then have a very good squad of players, a new Stadium and Stevie. G to lead out the mighty reds in his farewell season as club captain where he finally leads us to the premiership crown...

Wishful thinking I know but Stanley Park for me guys....

Curled1

You talk about the impact a redevelopment would have on transfers. Yet you spend double on a new stadium which I think is way short of what a new 70-75k stadium would be.

Over two years (38 games) match day revenue in my estimation is around 60-65 million. I am not to sure but doesn't match day revenue go towards running costs anyway, maybe one of the Eds could clarify? I could be wrong. I see a new stadium having more financial implications compared to a redevelopment even with financial backing. I dont see transfer activity being hindered with a redevelopment.

James Mc {Ed049's Note - have a look http://swissramble.blogspot.in/search/label/Liverpool}

Curled1

Its not only about a new stadium, what happens to the area belonging to Anfield Athletic grounds? this will have to be either developed or sold.
No doubt selling it all would bring in roughly half needed to build a new stadium, but can you see hotels shopping centre etc etc slap bang in the middle of 2-3 rows of derelict houses?

I believe H&G bought a 999 year lease on stanley park ( anyone correct me or has this lease now been bought out? ) , so re-development of anfield makes sense, for now.....
Add another 8-10 thousand more seats, improve the area around anfield and put stability back into the club both on the pitch and off it.
Then, look into a new stadium.
Sorry people talk about naming rights etc etc, i just see a new stadium as FSG showpiece with their name over the door, no-one elses, if they can stabilise us and build squad for next 5-10 years, profit will come back.

The whole issue is not only a case of new build or re-develop, the area is run down and needs to work along side either a new build or re-develop, hence all the waiting.
Piddy.

Ed049, thank you for that mate. It was a great read, very insightful and I suggest fans who visit this page to give it a read. Long winded but you will have more of an understanding of the business and running side of the club. Thanks again.

James Mc

Any redevelopement work would be done out of season.

Hello eds
Would it b right to assume that BR won't make any signings until near end of july so he can assess the squad first or do you think he has a good idea where he needs 2 strenghten. Personally I think a striker,pacey/tricky winger and playmaker in midfield and wee won't be that far away. what do you think.

N.ireland Red. {Ed002's Note - We have no idea about the timing of transfers.}

BR was saying on Talk Sports that he wants 3 or 4 new players that will make a difference, but later he said that very few players will make a difference, and that a lot of players linked to us are agents doing PR. I reckon he already knows who he wants (but we might not yet).

When are Liverpool actually going to make a bid or even sign someone because this is ridiculous, all the big teams in the PL have made some sort of signing apart from us. We have cleared our debts, BUT we are cheap and young players and we are not paying "silly wages". Where all the money are going maybe to clear the debt for buying the club and clearing the credits or just in the wealthy pockets of our american owners? Something is not very right.

Liverpool fan here,
just wanted to say that us fans should be a little less arrogant and more reasonable....if sigurdsson signs for spurs then it doesnt mean he is going for only money because spurs have been finishing above us for the past 3 years and have a better squad too....and every now and then i see posts saying how no1 cares about sigg but what i see is 90% posts are related to him....so please stop being hypocrites we are better than this.

I love reading all the transfer rumours - thanks for the pleasure. Rumours are what they all are untill confirmed. There's always someone's dads mates brother that knows everything, even more so in Liverpool ! I would just like to give you my thoughts for the close season, having followed Liverpool closely :

Summer signings :
Clint Dempsey
Gifi Sigurdsson
Victor Mosses

Giving our longterm future manager the first season to make his mark and asses the players at his disposal and up and coming ! What do you think Eds ?

03 Jul 2012 02:23:59
If liverpool got rid of
Adam
Downing
Aqua
Cole
Spearing
Doni/jones

Your looking at 300k+ a week of the wage bill and would recieve a fair few million of the transfers. Then we can begin to spend on better quality. Although it looks like sig is of to spurs i rate him very highly and may regret it in 4/5 years time when he is at his peak. I know its not as easy as that just flogging a few players but it has to be done

Mason

Adam and Downing are going nowhere! simple.

Its ok getting rid of these players and to be honest i would not be surprised if they went, but you still have to replace these players and Kuyt. This is where the issue is.Get rid of them, but they need replaced with good players. I would think you would get £20/22 million for those players, but is that enough to replace Kuyt,Downing,Adam,Spearing? I think not!

Fact about Vargas, he would have to apologize to Coates for "intentionally" elbowing him in the face in the Copa America.

Not as a demand from lfc but i'm just using logic, he wouldn't want to start of on the wrong foot at liverpool especially with the South Americans as he would most likely look to them as a easy way to settle in.

Yes, i'm sure they've not been getting on with their lives and have been spending their nights in a dark cellar, plotting...

Is it just me or is spurs being linked with evey player Liverpool are being linked with! Ā

The fact is Liverpool will only buy 1-2 players max! And we will 100% lose out on-

Ā Moses
BoriniĀ
Sigurdson
Ā Gaston Ramirez
Daniel Sturridge

Players who we need and would improve our squad!Ā

Saw a post comparing wigan wanting 12m for moses, yet alba only cost 14eurom.

The reason alba is that cheap, is because when barca sell their young stars, they put buy back clauses in them. Its a very good model and can work out really well.

Wouldnt mind liverpool doing that with some youngsters, instead of silly 3 and 6 months loan where they have no continuity.

Say for instance, sell sterling to a championship club for 2-3m. With a buy back of say 10m. Then see how he developes in first team football for a couple of years, then buy him back.

Obviously if you do that deal with a club thats doing better than us, they wouldnt want to come back! but luckily for barca they are the best team in the world and their players hope to be re-signed.

In response to a lot of things written on here.

- Rodgers is a fantastic manager.
- Sigurdsson is a good player.
- Spain are amazing, they are playing the best, most exciting football any national team has EVER played.
- Italy were worthy finalists, they were just hammered by an amazing team.
- If we don't finish in 4th spot next year, it is NOT a failure.
- We have a good squad, we do NOT need to buy 21 new f*****g players!
- FACT: Common sense in this world seems to be waning by the day.
- FACT: The eds are not to blame for us missing targets we weren't even interested in to begin with. So let them continue to do their amazing job that they DO NOT GET PAID FOR!
- Tika-Taka or whatever you might like to call it, is not dead. The only thing dead, is your imagination and want of a little unpredictability in life. The only issue is that things are going ok for the club at the moment and people have nothing to whinge about so they're turning on the very things they loved no more than a few months ago.
- Now this last point needs to be addressed; The ONLY reason Spain and Barca have not been quite as exciting to watch lately, is that nobody wants to play against them. A few of their own players said "nobody wants to play against us". All other teams want to do is park the bus and try to hit on the counter, but either way, the Spaniards win! When a team has the balls to come out and have a dig, they are generally smothered and killed in one or two moves. Or would people find Hoofball more exciting.

Get a life!

Red7.

I agree with the Barca comment, it's like the Mancs no one takes them on us and the odd team, that's why they win,as soon as you give Mancs a game their odds shorten. Come next season, the likes of City,United Chelsea will all dread playing us as we go out to win and not fold in their stature.

Hi eds, question I have always wondered. Why can Italian and Spanish clubs sign south American players but when it comes to English teams it seams near impossible to obtain a work permit unless the are the next messi... Thanks for any info on this. Jayo. {Ed001's Note - because their laws are not so tight and make it easier for them to get permits. They don't have the overcrowding we have, so they can afford to have more laxity in their immigration.}

Koptalk are claiming former Liverpool player Steve Nichol the Sig deal was a non-starter from the beginning. Apparently as soon as Liver pool was mentioned the fee went up along with his wage demands, and Liverpool walked away from it there and then. The only credability I see in this is due to the fact Liverpool have not agreed a fee for him, so in principle we would not have offered him a contract (at least officially).

I think too many fans are too focused on this "another one lost" crap along with their opinions were too slow in the market. If Liverpool wanted this guy they could have had him in bag long ago.

The fact we got a new manager was obviously going to have a major impact. Despite having targets in mind under King Kenny, Rogers like any manager will want his own signings. If Macca is correct we can expect investment in the squad and hopefuly those new signings who failed to kick on last year can have an impact this year.

In my opinion we were unlucky in a lot of games last year although we were dreadful and deserved nothing in loads of games we lost/drew. But if we were to get our scoring touch this year we will improve massively. And that is without signing anyone.

Three of the biggest things to annoy me last year was 1) our wingers inability to beat the first man on so many crosses, at that level constantly failing to beat the first man on crosses is unacceptable and I hope to god Kenny tried to do something about that in training 2) Enrique's holding up of the ball - in my opinion he started as one of the best signings of the summer but he too often holds up the play/counter attacks, won't make the pass, has a little tussle with a player and then makes the pass he should of made the first time, 3) Jay Spearing/Shelvy should not be allowed near the team, just not good enough - but in fairness to Spearing he has played well in some games when surrounded by better players.

Lastly, apart from the obvious need to sign a striker, and wingers, I think the biggest impact and the reason why we dropped out of the top 4 was due to the loss of Alonso and Maschreno, neither was replaced with quality and until then we will struggle to challange for the title, although I think with 3 quality signings we will get 4th.

You are correct we had one of if not the best midfield in the world,which is needed to reach and maintain a top 4th spot (godin

Man United's midfield is garbage and they lost the league in stoppage time on the last day.

Anderson, Carrick, Cleverley, Park, Those 2 diving little sh*ts (Nani and Young) and 2 more pensioners.

Down the flanks they have decent options, but through the middle nothing.

If Rooney and Wellbeck continue their blistering form from the Euros then they're gonna badly struggle.

Add to that a dodgy keeper an over-rated back four (perm any 4 from Evra, Quaver lip, Smalling, Pie A*se Jones, Evans, the twins) and by every right they should be a poor team. There's only Vidic from their team that I'd have and even then, I like the way Agger and Skrtel play together so play him wouldn't be a given.

As much as I cant stand arl whiskey nose, he clearly knows how to get the best out of his side, grind out wins and win leagues. Lets hope BR has got the nouse to work with what he's got as we wont be signing all kinds this season.

One more thing, Keep Moyes In Our City...TRAMPS!

Last post is spot on, the mancs are no more than flat track bullies who always go to town on the lesser teams.

Hi Eds & Reds,

Sorry to ask a silly question but it is is silly season, it appears that FSG have now in place a proper wage structure, not paying silly money a week to a half decent player. But do you think or know that if the right player was available and wanted a 100 odd k a week, based on age and potential profit from a future sale of player, are we willing to pay it?

R_R {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware, no, not for a new signing. Pay rises for proven performers are a different matter, though the club would prefer to keep them as below that, if possible.}

02 Jul 2012 22:02:59
eds why do u think joe cole didnt play well under daglishe and hodgson was it because there style of play didnt suit him or was it because he wasnt good enough {Ed001's Note - bit of both, in my opinion. I don't think he was good enough, but he was never given a role that really brought out the best of him.}

He is a winger, we tired him at AM and it didn't work, he doesn't have the legs for wide positions.

His physicality waned a bit, but i think with a faster, passing based game, he can be good again.

He never was a winger, Mourinho stuck him out there and made him another donkey wide man. He has superb close control and passing and would be much better suited to a central role, possibly behind the striker.

Although in that position I think SG8 or Suarez are better, so I doubt he would be more than a squad player if he was to stay.

02 Jul 2012 20:17:36
Evening Eds, hope you are all well. I have a slightly different question for any of you who care to answer. Regardless of who will be joining, who out of the current list of players liable to leave ( bellamy, aqualini, maxi, cole,spearing etc) would you actually like to stay?

I personally would like to see Cole given another chance till Christmas at least, and I have always enjoyed watching maxi, not least his ability to score goals at important times. Aqualini obviously is going and he is perhaps the most disappointing liverpool signing of all time, but I'd enjoy reading your views on the others if you can spare the time. If not no worries, know that you are all very busy and I appreciate your hard work.

Andy H {Ed001's Note - Bellers is the only one I would be bothered about losing, he is still top class and offers pace, which we lack.}

Bellamy was only good for half a season and at that only 20m games due to his knee and drop in form
