great site im addicted .
but all the line ups people are predicting are a little unrealistic in my view . i mean its alright putting in all the superstars but you still need to have the right balance . kuyt is always gonna be a starter because teams need grafters as well as flair all the managers hes played for say the same about him that he is one of the first names on the team sheet and thats club and country . and lucas is another one , you can only admire the character of the lad after the abuse he got most players would have left but he stuck at it and proved he is worthy of his place and now first choice for brazil and think he will captain them before long, was at the birmingham game and he was the best player on the pitch by a mile.
it looks like downing and mata will be joining us which in my view are great signings . also adam will come but more a squad player but he could be the player who can make the difference when we struggle to break teams down like we have in the past . ngog will either go out on loan or be sold because you can only have potential for so long . what do you think ed and everyone

Given that lfc has finally got owners who are trying in most cases to increase the profile of the club and automatically the revenue do you ever see us making superstar buys to match those of the current big spenders in a few years time?

Only ask because to make interest in the club is to win/compete.
Or as the saying goes to speculate to accumulate !

So surely logic dictates that spending big now to appeal to a worldwide audience etc on someone say like kun who have more of an impact than say Henderson?

Can't understand why they haven't come out and say that they are trying to sign big name players and yet seem ok to be linked to average joes like Adam, Henderson and bloody cattermole

I hate rumours like this but 3 of my mates from Granton Road, close to Anfield in Liverpool have told me the same thing now... They've heard that Liverpool are to sign an English International on Monday and will be confirmed at a press conference in Anfield at lunchtime. I'll take it with a pinch of salt and believe it when I see it.

Rocky

Sorry to blow this out the water but Granton road was knocked down in the last 12 months so I doubt you have any mates living there, but love all the things going on on this site really really can't wat for new season, great work E ds do any of you actually have anything to do with the mighty reds?

YNWAJFT96 {Ed001's Note - as in work for the club? No. I know a few that are and a number that have been employed by the club in the past though.}

*****************************
I dont actually live in Liverpool, I just know my mates are from there originally, I'm from Ireland myself, I haven't seen them in a good few years but keep in contact with them through Facebook, so didn't know if they still lived there or not, I was talking to them on Facebook this morning and they gave me that info so just thought i'd post it. I've no reason not to believe them but I'll just wait and see for myself on Monday.

Read an article saying Liverpool want to tie up Henderson deal before England U21s leave for Spain. Have they not left yet, I thought they had gone by now?
Thanks
Glov3z the Red
p.s - would love to see Henderson sign above most of the other players linked.

03 Jun 2011 23:30:32
Ed, how highly do you rate Jordan Henderson?
I honestly thought he'd be one of the last kind of players we'd be going for as i see centre-mid as being one of our strongest positions!
Although I personally rate him highly.

Thanks
Stu {Ed002's Note - I am not able to realistically rate players in terms of "goodness" I am afraid.}

The new U19 champions league tournament will be fantastic for footballing academies accross europe.

LFC will be part-taking in this tournament, hopefully players like pacheo will be representing LFC when the tournament starts.
Other players that should also be representing LFC are Shelvey, Wilson, Flannagan, Robinson, Sterling, Suso, Spearing, Coady and Ngoo.

I hope the Connor Wickham rumour is true another youngster we could prise away from utd and arsenal who were linked with wanting him. Not sure if anyone else would agree but i also hope the Nzogbia rumours also true dont get me wrong he's not amazing but i think he's a decent player and would be a bargain.

JUST MY OWN OPINION BUT :

I THINK SERGIO AGUERO WILL END UP AT REAL MADRID DESPITE THE IDEA HE WOULD NEVER PLAY FOR THEM

GOD WILL BE BACK TO TAKE UP HIS COACHING BADGES

ROBBIE KEANE WILL NEVER WEAR THE RED OF THE MIGHTY POOL AGAIN - NOT HIS FAULT IT DIDNT WORK OUT LAST TIME - RIGHT PLAYER, WRONG TIME

JOEY BARTON - DONT EVEN GO THERE

DOWNING, HENDERSON AND ENRIQUE WOULD BE AN EXCELLENT SUMMER FOR US AND OUT WITH POULSEN, COLE AND JOVANOVIC

HOPEFULLY GET SOMETHING IN PLACE REGARDING EITHER / OR PHIL JONES AND JAMES MCCARTHY

JUST MY OPINION FOLKS

i think the first signing for us is going to be scott parker. There was loadsa chat about him coming to us then so many other players have been linked lately and have read hardly anything about him. I think a little bit planned to take the attention away from that so no other clubs get involved late on. Either him or Charlie Adam.

Sorry i am new here. Who is ed and why is everyone treating everything he says as gospel truth?

03 Jun 2011 22:51:50
i can hear it now.."Arda Turan scored against Belgium tonight surely kenny will sign him"

I am a huge fan of turan , i have his boots and i also have a match worn aguero jersey they are my favourite players and yes they have said in the past that they are liverpool fans and no one would like to see them at our club more than me but c'mon people, why oh why would we spend 35 million for carroll to sit on a bench? he has enough trouble sitting on stools (sorry for the bad joke)

and why does everyone think we are going to play 4-3-3? and this opinion that meireles would be dropped? he was our best player this season even if lucas got voted best player the chap even said raul was our best player and he covers more ground each game than kuyt does-Fact, and please stop asking the eds to rate players out of ten because it gets REALLY repetitive, also stop asking them about the same players over and over again because they say the same thing in their replies each time if you havent noticed.

truth is no one knows whats instore for liverpool regarding transfers this summer as only the king knows who he wants, so be patient and keep the faith. In Kenny I Trust. Y.N.W.A

Ed 002 (0/10, 1/10, 3/10, no chance, slim chance etc etc) do you work in a Casino? Football is a game of the unexpected as your Suarez (I can't see it) proved. Some people want to dream an some want to post mad things! Your responses are harsh mostly without a hint oof humour. I accept you do this from your own free time but if you don't like it why do it?

Brighten up ey!

Btw would you say there are any seasoned players coming in such as over 28 year old players? We had a great player once called Gary Mcallister..... {Ed002's Note - So what has upset you - Ganso not arriving? Neymar? The answer is simple - just don't ask questions of me because I will give you an honest answer which is not what you want, and take the opportunity to skip over anything I write as it is bound to disturn you.}

03 Jun 2011 22:35:30
{Ed001's Note - sorry but you need to take a good hard look at Liverpool's history if you think that Gerrard is the most inspirational player of all time. You are clearly talking complete nonsense, he has been a great player in poor sides, leading by example, but he lacks a captain's ability to inspire others. Souness and McMahon were far more inspirational, they made the whole team raise their games, Gerrard has never done that.}

---------------------------------------------------

I agree 100% Ed and I truly believe that the lack of success at Anfield over the years has been the absence of a Souness or a McMahon, in fact when the going gets tough, i've always felt Gerrard has a negative effect on other players.

i potsted earlier about vargas, i'm not just biggin him up i think he would be a real asset for the club he's not the best deffender but he knows his role well, full backs, wing backs, whatever, we need these kind of players, players that can come in make a difference for 2-3 seasons in the league and at the same time show the youngsters how to effect it.thats how it was done before and thats how we're gonna move forward.

question for the eds!!
do liverpool still have a good chjance of getting Arda Turan? and are we still interested at all??

Ladders {Ed002's Note - Arda Turan looks Atletico Madrid bound. Talks have been going on for a while and he will move this summer. Dortmund apparently, remain interested but Villarreal have dropped any interest that they had. Spurs have dipped their toe in the water over the player and I suspect Valencia are keeping a watchful eye on matters. I am surprised that Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

Apparently he's said he's staying at Gala.

03 Jun 2011 22:17:33
Players I'd like to see both in and out

Out:
Poulson £3M
Jovanovic £2M
N'Gog £4M
El Zhar £1M
Kyrgiakos £0
Degen £1M
Cole £5M

Total = £16M

In:
Charlie Adam £8M
Iker Muniain £25M (MAX - Buyout clause)
Jaun Manuel Vargas £18M
Mamahdou Sakho £16M
Juan Manuel Mata £23M
Marveaux £0M
Payet £15M

Total = £105M - MAX
-£20M from outgoings = £85M. No high wages and all young (exc Vargas) and willing to play for the club. No ultra egos.

eds, has any progress been made with mata? as a lot of rumours are saying that we have a agreed personal terms and finalising the deal with valencia! is it true? {Ed002's Note - No. Nothing has changed; Mata is away with the Under 21s.}

03 Jun 2011 21:47:41
Ed,
Great site, can you please provide a rating (1 / 10) regarding how likely the following are:
Jones (B/burn)
Henderson (S/land)
Mata (Valancia)
Young (Villa)
Adam (B/pool)
Enrique (N/castle)

To Liverpool

Cheers ears.

The One with the kleft foot {Ed013's Note - 4, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3}

Seeing you give these tranfers a 50/50 chance at best, are there any transfers that you think may go through (excluding Maveraux), by the way you are missing Britains got talent whilst you are doing this !!!

The one with the kleft foot

Maybe we should buy Asford and Simpson?
I hear that they're solid as a rock.

03 Jun 2011 21:42:51
Ricky Van Wolfswinkel signed for Sporting Lisbon for £4mil(approx), surely that would have been a good deal to make for Liverpool considering his 21 and would serve as great back up and one day even challenge Suarez and Carroll ?
---------------------------------------

that's all well and good but you're forgetting he severely lacks in quality.

03 Jun 2011 21:55:10
realistic targets and going by what the board said they want good young british talent are,

1. jones blackburn
2. henderson sunderland
3. cattermole sunderland
4. enrique newcastle not english but prem experiance
5. downing aston villa
6. young aston villa
7. wickham ipswich
8. long reading

03 Jun 2011 21:54:57
Kelly should be a regular, CB, Johnson a regular, RB, Carragher a regular, CB and a left back (Enrique). Agger, Skirtel, Wilson, Wisdom, Aurelio, Flanno and Robbo competing. Do we need anymore defenders? We have Mavinga and Insua as well!

03 Jun 2011 21:50:10
Really would like to see Shane long join as a back up striker

03 Jun 2011 21:45:06
we should start playing like Barca short passes, triangles pass, pass and move create space instead long ball charlies.
We should dictate the game

03 Jun 2011 21:41:16
i think the players that we are going to buy for defo are Aguero, Dann, Vargas, Diego, Hendersen for around £80 million , then the attacking line up would look like this
Gerrard- Hendersen
Aguero - Diego - Surerez
Carroll
what a line up this will be , we will win the league for sure !! what do u thunk ED ????? {Ed013's Note - Good line up but aguero is not realistic}

03 Jun 2011 21:40:20
Just watching lfc tv and xabi alonso is being interviewed, asked will we ever see you in a liverpool shirt agian, answer was YES, is this old or does familiar faces returning apply???

Love this site good work EDS think im a little addicted.
The only point I want to make is I think that not being in europe this season I one hell of a blessing we can now focus on getting back into that top 4.
I think we only need to sign 4 players, I dont think we could challenge for title as think our young players and squad needs to 1 improve with experiance (our young stars) which will in 2 years we will see benefit and 2nd gel as a unit, this meaning not being unreal and us signing aguero, hazard, kaka, lukaku and so forth but getting solid, young players who will grow as squad like henderson, enrique, wickham, albrighton, these type players will then let youth have there chance and with the looks of coady, wisdom, robinson, flanagan, kelly, shelvey, suso, morgan, sterling come on slowly and in the future reap rewards.
So my point really is lets not wish for aguero and co who might not even cut the prem but just taking a step on and producing our own suso's and co!!!
future well and truely scouse red

I'm not saying I'm right but could the following be viable Ed?

Firstly we enquire about the availability of Eden Hazard from Lillie, Comolli asks to be kept informed. Secondly we make enquiries over Steven Defour of Liege.

Both these players this month stated they will be staying with their existing clubs for one more season ( in Defour's case signs 1 year extension).

Could it be possible due to lack of European football this season, the fact they are still young and can experience it this season with their current clubs that we have agreed with these players to sign next season instead?

Just a thought? {Ed002's Note - No. Hazard has made his desire absolutely clear to play elsewhere. Talks broke down with Defour's transfer to Portugal and he decided to stay in Belgium. Nothing more.}

03 Jun 2011 20:57:52
Also, to carry on, I think Messi would do fine in the prem at manc (the only team likey to get him) he did ok against manchester united (much to your fans delight i'm sure) and arsenal, and chelsea when they played before... liverpool do need to spend the cash to come even close to barca, same for manchester united. Just think when Kenny leaves in Jan / sacked in december you can start all over....

03 Jun 2011 20:49:53
I read these pages reguarly and whilest we all hope some of these very good players join us i think we need to be realistic.
I would like to see Adam Johnson and Mata come into our squad as wider men and a young CB which Jones would fit in perfectly and give cover as a DM when needed. We need a LB but unsure about Enrique, i like Clichy or possibly the young lad from Celtic who i know very little about but i imagine he has something after picking up the Player of the Year award. I dont think any CM are needed as Stevie will return aswell as Aquaman unless he doesnt in which case i like the sound of Cattermole when he is not seeing red!

I think Kenny will get it right, Come on you Reds

Ian Holloway is interested in taking Dani Pacheco and Daniel Ayala on loan for the season. Holloway is good mates with my uncle since he stayed in his B&B when he 1st joined Blackpool. They are actually going on a golfing holiday together next week. No news on Charlie Adam though unfortunately.
Terry Boyd superstar
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well tell Holloway that there will be a loan fee upfront of £16m... thats what most of his players are worth according to him!

03 Jun 2011 20:36:39
sat ere thinking, wow arda turan, suarez, carroll, this would be a formula of mass destruction on the epl so close your eyes and dream the same....gerrard, meireles, mata, johnson, carra, dann, enrique, and reliable red reina...just a dream..ynwa

03 Jun 2011 20:32:34
Have the rumours about Clichy died out? I think wre should go for him instead of Vargas. (Just my opinion) and what do you think of Moussa Sow? ( what I've seen he's a pretty good )

03 Jun 2011 20:06:57
just wondering what people think. everyone is hyping up youngsters like kelly, flanagan, robinson, sterling, shelvey, ayala and eccleston but many players have shown talent when young and not been able to become great players just wondering whether this group of players are possible liverpool legends or whether they are just overhyped due to being young, english (most) and playin for liverpool

03 Jun 2011 19:12:39
sorry guys this what phil jones had to say after the gooners lost to stoke
I think Arsenal play the prettiest football in the Premier League, he said. Obviously money helps. Having more money allows you to play in a certain way, but that s the beauty of the Premier League there are so many different styles.

You know it s not easy for Arsenal to go to Stoke and win a game there anymore. It s not knocking anyone s style, it s just the nature of the Premier League and that s why everyone loves it.

But with Blackburn just three points above the relegation places it is still far from certain that they will be safe, and Jones is adamant that he can forget the rumours until the season end.

I can t afford to think about any of that, I just need to be concentrating on keeping Blackburn up, he continued. I tend not to read the papers or listen to what the pundits say about me. My mates will tell me they saw me in the newspaper linked to this club and that club, but to be honest it goes in one ear and out the other.

But he did reveal that he did have ambitions to go to a club that could challenge for trophies when he said: Obviously I want to win things, and hopefully play for England at senior level. Representing your country is a massive achievement.

Realistic looking team for next season from a fully fit squad to challenge for title next season. GK.Reina.RB.Kelly.CB.Carra/Jones.CB.Agger.LB Vargas.RM.Perroti.CM.Gerrard.CM.Adam.LM.Mata.C.F.Carroll.Striker.Suarez. Bench from. Westwood, Lucas, Flanaghan, Henderson, Raul M. Negrado, Maxi, Robinson, Downing, Kuyt, Aurilo last chance, Shelvey, the Korean player from Monaco no offence and McCarthy, i dont see a future for Spearing if just 1 of the main 3 Centre mid targets sign although i doubt we'll sign all three, suppose Henderson can play wide right as well.Think thats the caliber of player dat will gel together under k.k and would be a formidable team week in week out and would be able to rotate when needed.What you think ed, them players on there all realistic and attainable targets.See no future for Glenn Johnson with the 2 young right backs in his spot.Kelly defo better then Glenn, Flano will be rightback in a couple me years when future Liverpool and England captain will move back to the centre, and before it gets ripped, we've got to walk before we can run in the transfer market with the caliber of player without C.L football/money .Johnny Boy6

03 Jun 2011 18:54:14
why would Gerrard leave ?? he loves the club and he cant wait until the start of the new season . so stop the rumours about him going to real madrid. if by any chance gerrard does leave kk should get Kaka in return . so den we would have a 4-2-3-1 formation with carroll upfront and the 3 just behind will be aguero , kaka, mata what do you think ed ?????

{Ed002's Note - So Suerez is leaving to be replaced by Aguero, Kaka and Mata. How did you find this out - it wasn't due to be leaked until Monday?}

------------------

Ed,

I think he is right.
Liverpool are going to play 2-3-5 next season with 5 forwards up front.....

We will still be short after buying Aguero (we have Suarez and Carroll)......So we will bid for Fernando Llorento and Rossi...

Liverpool will spend around 120 million on these players and will be looking forward to buying to more strikers in January which will make it a more rounded team......

Reports coming out today, that Liverpool can buy Ayew from Marseilles for 10 million.Go get him Kenny. He would be without doubt my number 2 target from overseas. Box to box player, great in the tackle, scores and creates. A proper player, who can only improve with age. My number 1 target overseas, would be Mata.

This is a lovely site and I love it! But the only problem is there r certain ppl here that post dump rumors! Can u just disgust everything with ya brain before u fart!? Sorry with my language!!!

03 Jun 2011 18:26:55
I'm actually pretty disgusted with all these people saying to sell Gerrard after all his years of service and all he has done for the club you's want to cash in on him instead of letting him play out his days in the club he loves, quite disgraceful does no one else agree ? {Ed001's Note - players have to move on some time, it is sad that people think a player is more important than the club. He has been poor for years, in the past he would have been long gone by now.}

03 Jun 2011 18:11:29
People that say or claim to have read that Gerrard is getting sold need to seriously look at themselves read what they have just written. I honestly don't understand how people who post so things like this are allowed to comment. I didn't think id have to comment on why the f*** would we sell our most inspirational player of all time now, when he is 31 and has the best chance of winning the league title under KK. {Ed001's Note - sorry but you need to take a good hard look at Liverpool's history if you think that Gerrard is the most inspirational player of all time. You are clearly talking complete nonsense, he has been a great player in poor sides, leading by example, but he lacks a captain's ability to inspire others. 03 Jun 2011 18:11:07
Liverpool FC should look at Georgi Schennikov who plays for CSKA Moscow. Only 20 but has made a handful of appearances. I watch the Russian Premier League and this guy is very stable defensively and offensively does offer a cross that in my opinion can only be second to Juan Vargas...

His price must be jus about 5M rising to 7 at most... trust me when i say this people, but this guy has the potential to even out do Ashley Cole and Roberto Carlos in their prime in about 2-3 seasons from now!!!...(ed please post this rumour)

03 Jun 2011 18:08:29
Its look increasingly obvious that KK will be buying British talent. Players linked are Young, Downing, Jones, Henderson, Cattermole, Henderson and Baines. I beleive two of the above will be signed and i would love to see Jones purchased as he will be a fantastic centre half. I believe we won't sign a left back due to the form of Glen and young Jack. Unless EFc do business at 15m for Baines.
However, there will be an import of one big player only. F*c*ed if I know who it is!!!

I can't wait to read the response's to this totally true rumour, Well done reaching 50 lenghts mate.
I lost the deed's to my house at my local pool last week, I went for a swim and had the house deeds tucked into the waste band of my budgie smugglers so this I think is a valid rumour.

I've just been down my local swimming pool doing lengths, I'm up to 50 now, on the way out I was talking to the maintanance guy and he told me a rather pleasing story, he was cleaning a small blockage from the drainage system of the pool when he came across a couple of pieces of paper, being the creep that he is he put the paper ontop of the aircon ducting in the plant room to dry out so he could read them and try to get some dirt on the customers, to his surprise he found some very official looking paperwork that turned out to be a Liverpool contract signed by none other than Sergio Kun Aguero, I didn't believe him at first but then I seen 2 magpies on my way out, everyone knows this is a sign for joy so it must be 100% nailed on, apparently Tom Werner is always down the pool working on his back stroke and he must have accidentally let the contracts slip into the pool, so you heard it here first Aguero will be at Liverpool next year.

Think I've seen that episode of the brittas empire

Muniain or Gervinho?

I can't believe that Gervinho is our main target...Muniain is sensational. What do any of you think?!

im not sure why the stevie g to go rumours have come around again, but if any one saw him on sky the night of the fulham game, he looked like the cat who had the cream. he cant wait for next season to start at liverpool. one of his all time idols is in charge, he looked excited at the thought of linking up with suarez, and you could see in his face theres gonna be a big revival in the summer................ so he ent gonna be going anywhere!!!

Henderson will be going to Man Utd. Bruce wants brown and gibson so the manc lover will sell to rudolf before the pool

Another bitter bin dipper. Maybe the lad wants to go to a successful club. No trophies in five years or go to the champions?? Ooh tough one.

I have a friend who lives just outside of Madrid, great guy got me and my brother into the champions league match with them a few seasons ago. Not a great lover of Mourinho but has hear a rumour that if Lorente signs Higuain may be used in a deal to bring Gerrard to Madrid this would make sense as the manager is a great admirer and we are certainly capable of performing without him.
If we had to offer £10m on top i would think this would be an excellent deal for both sides and give a great servant of this club the opportunity to shine again in Spain.

Re you mad 10 mill plus gerrard. My god if we were getting kaka Higuain and ronaldo maybe so

03 Jun 2011 16:54:25
berbatov maybe outta contract next summer but we have an option to extend it by one more year if we want. So we could keep him for another year sit him on the bench all season then still extend his contract and sell him next summer although a bad season would hurt his resale value. So i'm just saying don't be suprised to see berba stay next season.

Sorry Ed's and fellow red's fans I copied the above post from the Utd page.I was just seeing what rumours they had going down and I saw this gem.
What a great way for this "supporter" of a player that plays for his beloved team to think.

My brother lives in the same road (a nice leafy village in the Midlands) as Ashley Young. He had a nice conversation with Mr Young earlier this week (before he joined up with the England squad) who said he was very much looking to continuing to play with Stewart Downing next season, and that they enjoyed switching flanks as a tactic throughout a game.

Read into that what you will but I think this would suggest they are both Liverpool bound (or less likely remaining at Villa)
--------------------------------------------------

HaHa, did ashley young also tell him that the fox flys west at winter and to meet on the park bench in the north of the square. When did ashley young become the riddle master. Hes a footballer is it too much to ask to give a straight answer like im staying, im going, im not sure or even refusing to comment.

On sky bet 2 days ago we were 5th favourites to sign Aguero, yesterday we moved up one to fourth favourites, just checked now and we are second favourites ! Something fishy going on here :

03 Jun 2011 16:21:18
Ed, in your view if we were to sign Henderson would that mean our chase for McCarthy and Adam was over? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know I am afraid. There is clearly interest in several players at the moment.}

03 Jun 2011 16:13:18
Ed I am generally worried about the british players being linked with us. Henderson jones catermole are all from teams that went through a relagation struggle they can be that good. We should concentrate on one than the whole bunch. We need players who will allow us to break the top 4. Ed answer me this do you think Comolli will allow these players all to come or will he go for players like Bastos Mata Young Hazzard Rolando I mean more of players that will improve the first team than ones waiting on. The sidelines because with those lot we won't even crack the top 8. Please let me know the type of players we are going for beacause we in my opinion should be going for players Chelsea Utd and City are after. {Ed002's Note - Well the management are looking to improve the squad and the defence is an area that needs some work. The problem is that the less glamorous positions are the ones that need some attention - and no club excepting Manchester City is in a position to only buy the "super stars". I guess the best advice is to support the management team.}

03 Jun 2011 16:12:37
Hi Ed,

Could you help clear up a bit of confusion for me?

I was under the impression that the transfer window was for players transferring into that particular FA. e.g after Riera made his comments about Rafa and Liverpool, he was looking to transfer to the Russian League, despite the English transfer window being closed, this was still possible as the Russian Transfer window was open.

So could you explain why we cannot sign players for other FA's now, despite their transfer windows being closed since ours is open?

apologies in advance if this question is not structure too clearly.

{Ed002's Note - There are exemptions for countries that have a season that works the other way around - such as Russia where the season does not start until March. There are a number of countries that work this way.}

Simon Kjaer:

There are personal reasons for such a move.

My father and my uncle are big Liverpool fans. I d be happy if I was at that club.

I was a Liverpool fan until I came up at this level. To play for them would probably mean something extra for me he added.

I can understand that we are at present looking at homegrown players as the international window doesn't open for another month, I can understand Downing and Young, seems perfectly reasonable, 2 wingers that on their day are as good as anyone, I can understand Jones as a replacement for Kyriakos BUT for the life of me I can't understand Cattlemore and Henderson???? Unless 2 central Mids are leaving? And I don't put Paulson in this category, I mean Lucas or Spearing? Strange don't you think?

Further more I am of the opinion that we don't need too many expensive signings just yet, we only have 38 games to play next season, why oh why would we sign Aguero just for 38 games? Fair enough to play 433 but we are not going to play 433 against every opponent and so he will no doubt be sat on the bench which I am sure he would not be happy about.

Don't get me wrong I would love LFC to buy the best players in the world, Thomas Muller, Aguero, Hazzard etc. but the simple fact is with only 38 games they are not needed and they would only cause a disruption to the dressing room when not picked.

Next season after we have won the league then lets go out and sign some world beaters but for this coming campaign I think we need to just focus on what is needed to get the job done, to win 38 games!

I would like to throw a name out there for public opinion. the guy Hoorau from PSG. He looks like a great striker big and strong and quick with good feet and a excellent eye for goal and also I think hes quite young. I think he would cost around the 10m mark. Ed what you think?? {Ed001's Note - we did try for him in January.}

Correct me if im wrong but is that not tapping up? Ed? Dont you have to agree a fee with the club then be granted permission to talk to the player??? {Ed002's Note - Please don't get suckered in to all of this stuff about Mata. ealistic players to come in..
Elia

Mata
Henderson
Adam
Jones..
A good mix of british and flair players what you think ed ???.. {Ed002's Note - All are possible to one degree or another.}

That would be really great!

03 Jun 2011 15:07:32
Following from an earlier thread - if we bought two quality wingers (take your pick from Mata, Downing, Elia, Johnson, SWP, Lennon or even Kranjcar) then we really wouldn't need a striker - because it free's up Dirk to be the other option. He had a good season last season and it means we can spend bigger on wingers, centre midfield and defence....easy peasy !

Handy Carroll

_______________________

Kenny did state earlier on that he wanted 4 strikers. Iker Muniain would be my choice.

maka

Kranjcar is not winger he is AM, excellent back up for Gerrard. I agree with rest

About a week ago I agreed with most people that Aguero wouldn't come but if the rumours are true that - Chelsea are getting Neymar, Barca have pretty much signed G.Rossi, Real close on getting Llorente - so that leaves us and City, and I believe they are going for Ibrohimovic. The chances may be slim but after looking at it I think we might get him! YNWA

-----------------------------------------------------

Inter Milan, AC Milan can offer Champions League football ....If Ibrahimovic leaves AC doesnt that make them front runners ahead of us?

P.S. Aguero has already stated he doesnt want to play in England.

We dont need him and shouldnt pay outrageous wages for anyone. If he wants to play for Liverpool, he should play for his red jersey and not 150k a week.

Jog on, Sergio.

---------------------------------------------------

Aguero didn't say he didn't want to play on the premier league, he said he would prefer to stay in Spain. A big difference.

---------------------------------------------------

I admire your enthusiasm. Having said that, Aguero will still not sign for LFC. When Ashley Young says "I want champions league football" why dont fans understand that he is saying "no" to signing for Liverpool?

Application of theory, not theoritical application.

Still .. Jog on, Sergio.

Ibrahimovic is still formaly Barca player he is on loan to AC Milan and if they want him to stay ACM has to pay 25milEUR to Barca.

Hi Guys, just been speaking to a fringe player at Newcastle who tells me that Lucas is moving to St James Park for £8 million. Liverpool will then sign Jordan Henderson from Sunderland. Would be a great piece of business for LFC.
Newcastle has also enquired about Shane Long but have been told a deal is done with LFC for £5 million and will be made public next week after the internationals. Great third choice striker.

Lucas just signed a new contract ... evidently a fringe player for a reason, who told you.

good old lfc nothing changes when it comes to tranfers. i would of thought we would of had a few players in place by now. cant see us getting anyone till the end of the window. deals should be in place like real madrid do. this is why we miss out. we take to much time over things.

03 Jun 2011 14:12:37
Does anyone know or heard anything about the high profile player that COULD be leaving? the only player i think it could be is Carrol but i doubt it to be honest.
Could be something in the Torres returning story after all?? Im only bringing this up after seeing a post from someone but for some reason it wouldn't surprise me at all!

i dont like all these people posting about "realistic targets" liverpool are a great club with great history that are rebuilding and will once again be great, look at the stars man city have pulled, and where were they 3 years ago? liverpool can surely sign any player and KK and DC will do their best to improve the squad, please stop saying that liverpool cant sign so and so because it may be unlikely but never say never in football

As I have said time and time again Jose does not want Aguero....and thank you Jose you have confirmed that now...look it up if you don't believe me. And I'm going to say it again Llorente is who he wants. The vital games for Real is Barca and what don't barca have? Tall players..what is Llorente a tall player Arial threat. And with the abundance of wingers it is clear what mourinho is looking for. May I add for all of Llorentes arial threat he is quality across the ground also.

"I've just checked the odds on sky bet of what club Juan Mata will end up at.Last time i checked at midnight City were 6/4 fav's and Liverpool were 2/1 second.Just looked now and to my very pleasant suprise, we are now 5/4 fav's and City are now 7/4.What do you make of that ed, i make it that he's on the verge of joining the us shortly, by the way he was about 10/1 to join Ol Whisky nose's team In other words Man U take Young and we'll take Mata .Jonny Boy6

{Ed002's Note - There is certainly a chance.}"

Hi Eds,
Do you think bookies have insiders in clubs or just following gossip and journalists? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - The single largest driver for bookmakers is the amount of money placed. If a lot of money is placed on Neymar to Liverpool they will very quickly become favourites.}

Hi Eds & Fellow Reds!

What do people think of a possible no.2? obv friedel now gone to spurs and with us sending out current no.2 on loan i feel a bit of experience would be good as a back up just for next couple of seasons at least? As i dont rate Brad Jones at all and i am a mega reina fan but was not happy with his attitude of leaving the door opens to offers if we did not improve?? rats jusmping a sinking ship is not what we need, and now we have Kenny and things loooking positive he has said 'oh i never said i wantedt o leave im happy now' dnt know whether i appreciate that after we all help to pas his wages week in week out at the game.

Apparantly just been informed that we have agreed personal terms through Mata's agent and that he is interested in moving to us, all's thats left is to agree a fee with Valencia and he will be on the move. Talks are due to resume with them at 2pm today.

Apparantly just been informed??? Haha, he doesn't even know if he was given this information or not haha, non starter for me :D

03 Jun 2011 13:01:04
AGUERO: Funny how some of our fans often mock City for having mercenaries, yet they themselves crave the biggest one in the known world, Sergio "Kun" Aguero.

It very much is common knowledge that the player's reps are looking for and open to, any club that will meet his wage demands.
They've even tried to get Roma to bid.
Which really is in stark contradiction with what he said about a week ago about how his decision was for "footballing" reasons.

Really now, "Kun", huh? Is moving to Roma over Madrid/Chavs/City indicative of ambition?
I don't think so.
The fact of the matter is that, if Aguero moving truly was for "footballing" reasons, I'm sure he'd have decided by now who wants to play for and look to do a deal asap.
But no, he's waiting, tightly sitting and awaiting a big payday, even if it's from Roma, bloody FC Roma.

And there are some people who crave this bloke but have the nerve and audacity to take a moral stance against and dismiss, Toure Yaya, Tevez, Milner, Silva etc as mercenaries. Unbelievable.

That aside, I don't understand why, if we are, we would want Aguero. He's a player we don't need, regardless of what he'll cost and the wages he'd demand.
The type of forward we need is a like-for-like replacement for El Sulk. Benzema would be my pick. Young and very well proven. He can lead the line on his own and do a terrific job at it.
He'd get us 30 a season.
And he'll set us back what? £22m£25m... about half of what the Lord Mercernary Kun Aguero would cost.

HENDERSON: I must say, this came as a surprise to me. No links whatsoever prior to the news of the bid. Wasn't he supposed to be nailed on for the Old t**tford up the road?
Ed, is our interest in this kid very real, or just some posturing to get Wigan to stop their nonsense with the Irish lad, (don't remember his name)?
If it's genuine indeed, do you see a second bid being made, which will perhaps seal the deal?

Jan Palumbo

03 Jun 2011 12:46:45
Just seen on another page, Man utd bids for adam (bpool), young (villa) and henderson (sunderland) imminent. Also links with McCarthy and mata have been mentioned in other areas.

Im sure slur alex waits to see who we bid for or are linked with and then goes for them, hes always done it! haha Silvestre, Ronaldo and Vidic come to mind!

03 Jun 2011 12:44:25
ed canwe please ban talk of augero signing for us. It is ridiculous to think he would come to us as the money he wants is unbelivable and we have no champions league football. Praying mata signs and would also like to see michael bastos as left back and scott dann and matty jarvis as well. {Ed002's Note - NO we cannot ban it but we can manage it a little better.}

03 Jun 2011 12:37:48
Have any of you seen how slow Adam is. Its not like Xabi, who just naturally had no pace, he's just fat. Thats why he was burnt out by the second half of the season. He isn't fit enough for the top flight. I want to see him lose at least 2 stone if Liverpool sign him. Then he may even turn out to be quick!

YNWA! (Adam)

03 Jun 2011 12:35:50
Liverpool fans are the funniest by far, some of the names touted on the rumours page are too funny... next you'll be saying Messi and Ronaldo to come.. lol, stick to your Hendersons lads, you can't do better.

03 Jun 2011 12:23:47
If Scott Dann and Phil Jones do arrive at the club this summer, do you think it could spell the end for Daniel Agger? When fit he is a great defender, but like Aurelio is fit far too infrequently.

03 Jun 2011 12:19:26
I'm starting to think that Scott Dann will almost certainly be a red next year. The lad was born in Liverpool, is a former season ticket holder for LFC, Birmingham have gone down so shouldn't be awkward about the price and Kenny is interested in signing him. What do you think Ed? What are the chances of him playing for us next season?

Tom. {Ed001's Note - it does seem the most likely signing, dependant on his fitness.}

03 Jun 2011 12:16:54
Looks like Macca was wrong about Friedel - he signed for Spuds on a 2-year deal SingRed

{Ed002's Note - Please don't start making comments like this on other posters - I get a mass of this sort of nonsense with nobody remembering any of the correct stuff. I recall Macca said that he thought he would be going to Spurs in any case.}

-------------------------
Macca said last week that there was a good chance of Friedel going to Spurs due to more first team football.

---------------------------------------------------

Check my posts mate, i told you last week he would sign for Spurs as there number 1, he loves Liverpool but was not prepared to be number 2.. His words where he is a long time retired so needed to make the most of playing..

Cheers

Macca

People.... we will never know who is signing until its done and confirmed by an official statement on the club website or tv channel

Take all rumours you here with a pinch of salt.... aguero, young, mata, dann, adam ect...... some of the names would be great, some other names linked, not so great.

The bottom line is, I dont expect many foreigners to want to come to us right now. I do expect one or two that need a fresh challenge.... names like Mata and Higuian, maybe, but I mainly expect english talent that have seen the improvements made since January and would like the chance to take Liverpool back where we belong.... champs league minimum!!

On to other things mentioned.... TORRES!!

WTF are some of you thinking that you would take him back. It isnt a personnal thing against him as he will score goals for chelsea, but I said it when he was still with us. When you go to games regularly, you see players differently.

Torres has become Michael owen.... too many groin and hamstring injuries ruin players raw pace which was torres' main attribute. Sure, he will still be deadly in one on one situations but he will never be the superstar beating 2 or 3 defenders to a through ball and racing away from them.

I said at the time and will say again.... he will miss Liverpool much more then we will miss him. Time for some of you to realise that the future does not include Mr. Torres, but a team who are dediated to taking us back to our righful place, whoever we may bring in and keep!

And also, dont judge Carroll just yet. 35M was a lot of money for him, but he was kenny's #1 choice to replace the former No.9 and clearly told the owners he does not care what carroll costs, he is the player he wants to form a potentially deadly partnership with our little south american, and with one or 2 new wingers, im sure you will see a potant attacking team next season.

It really annoys me when you get certain players refusing big clubs like liverpool because they demand champions league football like it should be handed to them on a plate! Liverpool has a great champions league record over the last 10 years and its one season that we're not in it. Esspecially when they're in their early 20's and theres still time. Its not a god given right to be in the champions league! Players should be attracted to the huge club and amazing fans before anything else and come here and with their team mates work hard to get to that standard! Its not a god given right its a result of hard work and team work. Any player that isnt attracted to liverpool football club playing in the best league in the world (english premier league) must have something wrong with them!

I personally would be happy with just Adam signing and a CB and a Winger. I think Adam can really help us push for champions league. His set pieces are second to none and with Carroll i could see a lot of goals coming from them. Also we've seen him in the PL so we know he can cope.
Do any eds know if we are actually interested in Adam and if we are, is it looking possible ?
Many thanks {Ed002's Note - You have to keep up with the posts. It is impossible to answer 1000's of posts per day and 100's asking questions for which the answers can be found by reading the posts and

DC and KK have to persuade players like hazard and mata to sign for liverpool...... i thought the owners are ready to break the bank for world class player so that should not be a problem..

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure the owners will be looking to pay over the odds for anyone. There is interest in Mata and there is a chance, albeit reasonably slim, that he could join.}

"If I had to choose a league then it would be the Premier League, " Aguero is quoted as saying in the Munich TZ newspaper.

"I have been a Liverpool fan for as long as I can remember and it would be a dream to play there.

"I watched the Champions League final and celebrated every goal as if it was for Independiente."

If we sign Young, Adam, Henderson and a few others that have been linked then we ain't going to challenge next season, these players are not good enough...I much preferred it when we were being linked to players like Mata, Hazard, Muniain, Hulk etc, etc...Now the transfer window has opened we seem to be getting linked to players from struggling teams, although Adam has been linked for a while. Please get some quality in a not the carp we are getting linked to now. Instead of Young=Mata, Muniain or Hazard, intead of Adam/Henderson=Banega. Anyone agree?

liverpool should sign quality players to compete for title race next season not being link with decent players that cannot win you anything....dc and dalglish have to be quick if they want to sign world class player before other club interested with the player or otherwise liverpool will not sign any player this summer.....And please not to post rubbish here...

Both Arbeloa & Alonso tweeted that Mata has joined Liverpool, but they removed it because the deal is not known to be official, therefore they have no permission to do it :) Ynwa

i would also like to fully throw my support behind all of the edds on this site...i look forward to visiting the site every day and appreciate all of the hard work and comments given by the edds (good or bad!!) infact i hate the posts that do not receive any comments because i for one do value there opinion on all transfer rumours!!! some of the people who write into this site are quite frankly brainless...they dont even realise that the edds just paste standard answers back to the constant augeuro / mata / hazzard rumours!! another small point to please make note of is that if you care to visit some of the other teams rumour pages the level of manners and all round respect and politeness towards the editors is far greater...we are i think giving our teams supporters quite frankly an awful reputation with some of the fowl abuse being dished out on here....if you dont like what the eds say then fine but please realise that we all love this site and the only thing that is achieved by abusing the eds is for them to stop posting any replys to rumours at all or to stop giving out any snippets of information they may have and then just how boring will this site be?? the futures bright the futures biege

Just a thought on the transfer targets being printed in the press.

All English players end up being over priced, so i am not sure why this would suit Liverpools plans for players. If we do go after Henderson, i do not see him being worth 15 mil. We just need to take our time and buy whats right for Liverpool.

i have faith in the king but some of the players we are linked to are not the class we need to take us back up i would take a 24 to 27 age player with class than a 22 year old with potential any day!

03 Jun 2011 10:59:50
somethink a little different. been looking at the squad on liverpool tv and i tryed to work out who was going so i picked the players that i think will be already on the squad sheet for next season and see what is left so my opinion here we go. (gk)-Reina (LB)- Aureilo Robinson (RB)-Johnson Kelly Flanagan (CB)-Carragher Agger Skrtel wilson (CM)-Gerrad Meireles Lucas Spearing Shelvey (FWD-Wingers)- Maxi Suarez Kuyt (ST) Carroll. Now you can add youth players to that ie Sterling Coady Ayala and your transfer targets to see where they would fit but with out most of the youth players in there i believe that is the core of the squad for next season start adding.

03 Jun 2011 10:51:33
I can't help but worry that Kenny's dream summer of transfers will be hit by the mistakes of the previous ownership and managers. How we have a wage bill of £121m a year is unbelievable (I believe only Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea have higher), considering the quality of the squad is so poor compared to those teams. Tottenham noted for their strict pay structure have been able to add quality without breaking the bank - I think Van Der Vaart and Bale are the only ones who the structure has been ignored, but they have a better squad than we do. Currently Jovanovic is on the same wage as Gerrard....
On a more positive note, it is great that we're looking to add more English and British players to the squad. Phil Jones at Blackburn could be our centre back for the next 15 years. Ashley Young & Stewart Downing would all be improvements on what we currently have in their positions.
It's all well and good trying to buy British, but you have to pay a premium - so I just hope they don't ignore the rest of the market. Park Chu Young and Juan Mata for me a must sign players. PCY could be available for less than £5m and for that sort of money you won't buy someone of his ability, and potential marketing opportunities. Mata is quick, strong can cross, shoot and pass - and would be the best addition to the left hand side we could make.

{Ed002's Note - Just a quick comment on the wage bill. It is artificially high through the signing of "free transfers". Rather than pay the "signing on fee" directly on arrival of a player, clubs tend to split the fee across the length of the contract - thereby adding perhaps £20k or £30k to the weekly wages of these players. As such, the overall wage bill does get inflated.}

Reports on twitter that Arbeloa and Alonso both this morning tweeted about Juan Mata signing for Liverpool but then immedietely removed their tweets.

Arbeloa:

"Juan Mata joins a special club in # LFC, well done my friend, the city is beautiful."

Alonso:

"Congratulations to Juan Mata sign # LFC. Good luck my friend # YNWA."

I never saw it, so don't believe it.

Love the site eds all i want to say is can please people stop talking rubbish about who lfc will get during the summer .
No body can be 100% on who we will get as everything is done behind closed doors iam sure the king and dc have a list of players they want but we have not signed anyone yet . Please stop these silly rumors i feel sorry for the eds having to keep repeating themselves when the club have something to say we will all find out iam sure we will sign some good players so lets wait and see .

I think we should. Loan out jonjo shelvey, also spaering and maybe sell lucas, seal the deals on james mccarthy and or henderson or adam, then maybe do some sort of a swap with kuyt with another forward player e.g. Mata ellia young downing navas milner perotti, you can get the idea, all these links with henderson, I don't think he's up to scratch

Ed , how come we are being linked to so many average players recently ? Players like Dann , cattermole etc. are just not good enough for a team expecting top 4 next season! Bar Henderson ( and i dont even rate him that much) , i dont think any of the so called 'young english talent' is good enough. We need quality , and i dont mind if they come from europe if they are better and better value then the guys here. Any chances of us signing thhe likes of dzuduszak, martinez, gotze, m'vila? {Ed002's Note - I have no control over the players are linked to - although some posters seem to hold me responsibile. There are plenty of chances of signing the "big name" players you crave, although I am not so sure that more than one of the four you suggest will be available at all.}

03 Jun 2011 08:29:20
This is fantastic. Two bids henderson and jones a to be made today, but nobody knew about it until two days ago. These two players prove that everything is being done behind closed doors, which means nobody has a clue. All these names thrown around the press is all guesswork. So for the summer window, expect a few surprises....

me14 {Ed002's Note - Surely this is everything being done in the open not behind closed doors? Otherwise how would you know so much about it?}

Re. Chris in Tamworth & JFT96

Chris, like you I thought Jova and, despite some of his dire performances, Poulsen both had the talent to turn their seasons around, but needs must and they never got the pitch time after KK came in to really show they could adapt. Question is now whether to keep them and hope that with a good pre-season they can adapt, or allow them to return whence they came and restart their careers. Both have at least publicly stated their desire to stay on and fight but given who we're linked with I suspect one if not both will go, particularly as there's no EuL next season and depending on the kindness of the early draw I'm sure KK and co will want to give some of the youngsters a run in the League Cup, reducing their chances of early action.

I also think that KK and DC want to get as much business done as early as possible to give the new guys as long a pre-season as possible. Hence the "we only want players who want to be here" and "we don't want greedy players" comments - i.e. We don't want to be mucked around and we want to get a shift on. I'm sure for the right players with the right attitude, the deal will be done as needed, but the £35m deal for Carroll showed that FSG is willing to make things happen

I would also be surprised if there are any announcements before early next week, unless they are forced upon us. Hughes' resignation not withstanding, I'm sure the LFC publicity machine wants the biggest splash it can and will wait for the aftermath of the international fixtures to have abated before hitting the back pages.

Liverpool FC was founded on this day in 1892. The name of the club was changed when Everton moved away from after a dispute with club founder John Houlding. John Holding then went on and signed the certificate to change the name of the club to LFC. The original company was never desolved just the name of the club had changed. So in effect LFC are the oldest club on Merseyside.

Happy Birthday LFC!!!

great site, but stop with the football manager type suggestions, sissoko, m'villa, etc, not gonna happen, no more foreign average under KK and FSG,
______________________
yeah ino buy british players although their not good enough. barton, parker, adam, cahill. iknow that the ed's agree he has got potential and i concur, but that doesn't make him good buy at the price being mentioned based on his potential. 15-20m is what you pay for a already able, young (proven player) with WORLD CLASS POTENTIAL(Bojan for instance). 15-20m doesn't rep good value for money in this case because you don't see him getting sold later on for double that we'd get the same if he does utilize his potential but we'd loose if he doesn't and that would make him not a good signing. maybe at 8-13m but any more than that, then i don't see why we can't get aguero, mata, cissokho if we are just gona waste money like that. same thing we did on carroll. we payed 20m more than his worth and at the end of the day hes not gona make us that money back. So that would be bad judgment on FSG's side and would show that they;

1. don't know what their doing(but i don't hate them infact the opposite they saved us and im thankful)

2. spending money willi nilli and not to full affect (buying duds just because of nationali, when there are better, Carroll)

3. tryna prove to us they are willing to invest by just wasting money which would make it harder for us to buy players in the future at reasonable/market prices because everyone will want to con us as they see us as weak and easy to minipulate.

in my view we should do a Arsen and mostly only pay or offer what we think the players worth is unless the player is already proven and would UNDOUTABLY earn their price(Mata, Aguero even perotti at 8.5/10m - just a few names that we are being linked to. we have the nextgen english talent at liverpool why buy others when ours have just a good a chance as they ones we're looking at
- McCarthy - shelvey/ Coady/ Suso,
- Henderson - Sterling/ Ince/ Sliva,
- Jones - kelly/ wisdom

2ndly people going on about Aguero your nutts you think 39m is too much try Suarez was too little and Carroll was too Much, you lot got it all twisted. but i do agree higuain would be my first choice ahead of aguero but i do think we have more of a chance of getting aguero than we do any other world class striker thats why it should be him, he's a RED.
************************************
Whoever posted this, what a load of bo*****s you talk.
Carrol will make us the money back by getting us into the champions league again, £35m to get back into a competition of that stature is nothing.
If you only do an Arsen and pay normall prices then you get normal players, and do not win anything.
These days youu sometimes have to pay over inflated prices for players, because of what they will bring to your team, not what they brought to their previous team.
You say M'villa and sissoko arent going to happen, bu then go on and mention that Aguero is a red and we should get him, M'Villa and Sissoko would be more likely if you lok at the transfer, wages, club, etc.

I think you should go bury your head back into the sand, grown men talking about serious football matters on here son.
If the club want any player they should get him, no matter who they are, how much they will cost, because the fickle fans will come round once we perform well, just as the savvy fans will sing aloud from the stands thinking 'told you so'

Anfield Andy

03 Jun 2011 08:01:08
I'd love to see Aguero and Suarez upfront but what would you do to Carroll you could sell but it wouldn't be right and your not going to spend 35M for him to sit on bench

03 Jun 2011 07:58:10
Just wondering ed, what with Liverpool looking at more CMs and Wings, along with a 3rd decent striker, do you think that perhaps KK is looking at being able to adjust between 442 (wings) and 433 as our two formations?
Both formations need Carrol as a target man, which would explain why he was willing to pay so much for him, no matter what wingers we get or CMs, it appears that without Carrol KK would have been stuck without a decent front man to play off, do we reckon thats a fair assessment ed?

Anfield Andy {Ed002's Note - I am sure that players arriving will be flexible enough to adjust to various formations. However, there are less attractive positions that must be addressed in this transfer window as a priority.}

03 Jun 2011 07:54:59
Looking at the rumours of yesterday there are 2 i really want to be true, obviously Aguero, the hottest talent on the planet, just thinking about him and Suarez playing off Carrol makes you think trophies!
The other is Phil Jones, a fantastic young talent, hard working and technically excellent for a cb, a young John Terry, with the potential to be better.

These are the ins and outs I would like to see for us this off-season - these I think will make the most sense and give us the depth and versatility to make a realistic challenge for a top 4 finish next season and hopefully to be there or there abouts at the end of the season for the title:

OUTS:

Poulsen - sold
Aurellio - released
Ngog - sold
Pacheco - loan or sold
Konchesky - sold
Jovanovic - sold
Darby - loan or sold
Aquilani - sold
Agger - sold if we get a decent offer, too injury prone we should move him while he still has decent market value

Promoted from reserves:

Suso
Insua - return from loan to be 2nd choice LB

INS:

Mata - 22mil EURO Our marque signing ST or LW/AMC
Marveaux - FREE LW
Gago - 10mil EURO
Vargas - 15mil EURO and first choice LB
Mateo Musacchio - if we sell Agger
Scott Dann - if we don't to act as cover for Carragher an Skrtel with Kiri and be Carra's longer term replacement

todays headlines is lfc have tabled a 20 mill bid henderson ed what do you think?????????
am i going mad or is cm the last place we need to spend 20 mill on ????? unless we are spending 75 mill this season which i doubt it!
we need lw 20 mill rw 15mill lb 10 mill and a back up forward 10 mill thats befor we spend 20 mill on a position we have plenty of.......
AND please everyone were not getting augero hes off to real madrid its laid on athletico just trying to get as much as they can from there enemy

KK was a great admirer of his
Real Madrid and Jose would like to get thier hands on Glen Johnson
could a deal be done ? is this the old face returning i would love it to happen with the youngsters looking excellent at RB it is a position we have well covered

Henderson is a decent young lad but if Sunderland price the lad out of a move then Alonso would be perfect would he leave spain to return ?

this window is just like when KK swooped to land Barnes Beardsley Houghton and Aldridge if the players he brings in this time around are half as good as those wel will have done very well

I believe there's a conflict of interest ahead between Kenny and Commoli..............British v French/European. Kenny's targets are over-priced and his imput is regarded as "out of touch" by Comolli.
Kenny sees an influx of "young French/Euro potential"
as too risky.
Both are right. Both are wrong.
The French League does produce some highly sought-after young talent but, to be honest, we've seen it all before under Houllier (Pongolle, Cisse, Cherout and Le Tallec ??)
However, British potential comes at a price.......Andy Carroll (if fit) will be a magnificent signing ...but shrewd?...no, £35m is way too much for an injury-prone youngster.
Henderson, Cattermole, Adam, Young, Cahill, Jarvis and Dann are all okay players but did anyone actually see Barcelona dismantle the scum last week?
Quality in midfield is essential.
Fenway Sports Group have employed the personnel and the "system" they feel will be successful next year but, in using Comolli, I believe they are taking a massive gamble.
Kenny Dalglish is Mr. Liverpool.
Damien Comolli is a head-scout whose reputation tends to be "mixed".
Kenny gets Liverpool.
Comolli gets P.R. and statistics.
Maybe football genius and sports P.R. can meet half-way.
However, I feel that the forthcoming transfer-window will become a game of high-stakes poker crossed with "High-Noon" with agents becoming richer than Croesus and the biggest spenders (MCFC, CFC, Barca and Madrid) beginning next season with oodles of expensive talent, obscene debt and wage-bills but no way of keeping all of this unused testosterone happy.
I firmly believe that Liverpool's failure to qualify for Europe next season was a masterstroke (intended or not). The EUFA Cup has become the Carling Cup of Europe and not worth being in for a Club of our standing.
Players like Aguero, Lukaku, Hazard and Dzudsak want Champions League football so let them go to Clubs who'll pay way over the odds to entertain their whims.
If we are to buy European I would, personally, plump for Sakho and Hamsik.
There are others I know would be incredible signings (Muller and Sanchez) but these are unrealistic.
British-wise I'd go for A.Johnson, S.Dann, McArthey and C.Adam.....or Young, Baines, Albrighton, Henderson....who knows?....I wouldn't mind Long as a back-up striker or even Demba Ba.
I'm not on the LFC payroll so my opinion counts for nothing. But I hope that KK and DC can see eye-to-eye on the way forward.
For the record, my personal preference for 2011/12 would be;

GK; PEPE REINA, B.Friedel, C.Chow Mein(China)
LB; AGUIRRE/ L.BAINES J.Robinson, Mavinga
RB; G.Johnson, M.Kelly, Flannagan
CB; SAKHO, DANN, AGGER, Carragher, Skirtel, (Kelly)
DM; LUCAS, SPEARING, Coady (Fuk yoo -Korea)
LM/WING; ADAM, MARVEAUX, Sterling
RM/WING; A.JOHNSON, G.JOHNSON/A.YOUNG
CM; GERRARD, HAMSIK, (MEIRELES, )
M'Vila/MCARTHY
ST/FWD; SUAREZ, CARROLL, KUUYT, Albrighton,

Maybe not to everyone's taste and a couple of Asians thrown in as a joke (in deference to our need for a more corporate approach)
I've thought long and hard over who we could/should buy ....who we could replace.....who we could afford.
I have my ideas and I can't help returning to the more important question which is who we should offload.........getting rid of the following will be key to who we should bring in:
KONCHESKY, COLE, POULSEN, JONES, INCE, (SKIRTEL), N'GOG, EL ZHAR, PACHECO, ECCLESTONE, DERBY, AYALA, MAXI RODRIGUEZ, MEIRELES, AURELIO etc.

As with all supporters, I only want what's best for the Club but, as an older fan, I tend to remind myself of past mistakes when it comes to transfers.
If we sign Aguero for £50m, Cahill for £20m, Wickham for £15m and Adam for £15M then we'll have paid £100m for £50m of "talent".
I remember past "marquee signings"....Morientes, El Hadj Diouf, Djibril Cisse etc. as being expensive flops and don't really want to see us made fools of again in the transfer market.
Agents are great at promoting their "talent" and get a high percentage of any deals struck.
Fans are the best scouts....we are so thorough in our examination of reported "potential signings" ...(You Tube, Google, Wickipedia, other rumour sites, SkySports, BBCsportsnews etc) that most of the plusses and minuses of any potential purchase have already been explored before a bid has been made.
However, and this is mostly my point, for every Aguero, Lukaku and Mata there's always someone else waiting to be "discovered".
The game, at the moment, seems to belong to scouts.
Houllier wasn't so great (Cheyrou, Le Tallec etc.) but Rafa did actually promote loads of young (albeit mostly Spanish ) talent and employed Rodolfo Borellel who has transformed the youth set-up.
Ideally we'll sign players who'll elevate us from Europa-League to Champions League contenders.
Less than three years ago we were considered on a par with AC Milan and above anything else in Europe ....Barca, Real and Scum included!
So we're not that far away and I truly believe that Dalglish, Comolli, Clarke and Fenway will, between them, make the right decisions regarding the squad.
I can't imagine any of them'll want to keep any of Hodgson's buys and there'll be, I'm sure, a good idea of who to get rid of from the Benitez reign.
We NEED a playmaker in the mould of Alonso and Charlie Adam wouldn't be the worst option.
We need width but not as desperately as most people make out....Marveaux plus one other (A.Johnson, Mata, Turan) alongside players like Henderson or Adam who can provide width will give us more than a few options.
We have to recognize that we have some real quality coming through the ranks and that we could easily overspend on youth when we don't need to. Just look at the England u-19's and u-21's and we're more than represented.
Some of these lads (Robinson, Flanagan, Kelly, Coady, Ince, Sterling, Wisdom
N'goo, Morgan) plus the overseas lads like Adjoran, Suso and Ayala....are the future !!
Between them Kenny and Damien could sort us for years to to come....or....!!

stop the torres rumours plz , his not coming back and months ago you where all hating on him for leave so STOP ! and to all the people that think higuain is better then aguero NEVER aguero is far better , higuain is in a better team so he scores more goal but overall aguero is way better. i think the players there we are going to buy are Giovinco, Ageruo, dann, henderson , Izaguirre what do you think ED ? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps one or two.}

For god sake STOP DREAMING about Aguero&Mata there is no way they will sign for us.

I wouldnt say no way for aguero n mata to sign for us. u cant compare higuain n aguero though. higuain always gets to the right place at the right time thats why he scores, with good feeding, he can find the net, good finish. aguero however finds the right place and the right timing to dribble, pass, shoot, etc etc. very different players. i would personally choose aguero but thats because im a fan, but i disagree with u saying aguero is far better by comparing them like that. higuain is class too.

For those who are saying Mata only plays a central role now, yes he has been in the recently ended season, but so has Ashley Young a fair bit this year, but we still want him as a winger, Mata is playing centrally for 2 reasons, Joaquin and Vicente are their wingers, yes Mata is as good as them, but he can also play a central role, where the other 2 can't so well.
He is still a wide player by trade and has a bit more time on the ball when receiving wide and coming in toward goal.

i think we should hijack the transfer of arsenal and man u target Ricardo Alvarez from Velez Sarsfield, price being quoted is 10mil, why not? i'm watching him as we speak, he just came on in copa libertadores semi final. Seems a very good player.

It is all over the telly in australia that Arsenal and Spurs are entering a bidding war for Higuain. Is this for real?, with arsenals wage structure and Tottenham having played their last CL game for many many years to come and just generally being a crap club, surely we'd have a better chance of signing him, not that i'm entirely conviced of his ability in fast matches(his brain is much slower than his legs), but for the rumoured price he would be an inexpensive gamble.

great site, but stop with the football manager type suggestions, sissoko, m'villa, etc, not gonna happen, no more foreign average under KK and FSG,
______________________
yeah ino buy british players although their not good enough. barton, parker, adam, cahill. iknow that the ed's agree he has got potential and i concur, but that doesn't make him good buy at the price being mentioned based on his potential. 15-20m is what you pay for a already able, young (proven player) with WORLD CLASS POTENTIAL(Bojan for instance). 15-20m doesn't rep good value for money in this case because you don't see him getting sold later on for double that we'd get the same if he does utilize his potential but we'd loose if he doesn't and that would make him not a good signing. maybe at 8-13m but any more than that, then i don't see why we can't get aguero, mata, cissokho if we are just gona waste money like that. same thing we did on carroll. we payed 20m more than his worth and at the end of the day hes not gona make us that money back. So that would be bad judgment on FSG's side and would show that they;

1. don't know what their doing(but i don't hate them infact the opposite they saved us and im thankful)

2. spending money willi nilli and not to full affect (buying duds just because of nationali, when there are better, Carroll)

3. tryna prove to us they are willing to invest by just wasting money which would make it harder for us to buy players in the future at reasonable/market prices because everyone will want to con us as they see us as weak and easy to minipulate.

in my view we should do a Arsen and mostly only pay or offer what we think the players worth is unless the player is already proven and would UNDOUTABLY earn their price(Mata, Aguero even perotti at 8.5/10m - just a few names that we are being linked to. we have the nextgen english talent at liverpool why buy others when ours have just a good a chance as they ones we're looking at
- McCarthy - shelvey/ Coady/ Suso,
- Henderson - Sterling/ Ince/ Sliva,
- Jones - kelly/ wisdom

2ndly people going on about Aguero your nutts you think 39m is too much try Suarez was too little and Carroll was too Much, you lot got it all twisted. but i do agree higuain would be my first choice ahead of aguero but i do think we have more of a chance of getting aguero than we do any other world class striker thats why it should be him, he's a RED.

If Torres was to come back(highly unlikely this year), i would personally fly over and welcome him with arms wide open on his first day back at training, IF he does come back it will be because he has seen the error in his ways and will know that he has made a decision that he regrets, i can't think of any reason why he shouldn't be given a second chance. The fact that he would realise this mistake and be willing to apologise would mean 110% commitment from the player. Personally i'd rather have a player like him back after realising that the grass is not greener elsewhere over having somebody come to us because we offered a higher wage.

Hogar de vuelta Fernando...

Hey ed, in regards to releasing players from their contracts, I was wondering what the protocol was for this? I mean, would we have to pay out the full amount of the remainder of their contracts, or would the players agent and the club come to an agreement on a severance package that is agreed upon by both parties?

DownUnderRed.

{Ed010's Note - My understanding of the contract release, is exactly how you have described it in the last couple of sentences of your post. Obviously, where no agreement can be reached, players will just continue to draw wages from the "contracted" club, up until their contract expires, generally on 30th June.

Messi to sign for Liverpool for 500k, I know his dad, he told me so.

03 Jun 2011 02:24:15
We need atleast one left back, another center midfeilder, and two wingers. We could also do with bolstering the squad with atleast one more support striker and another center back. With this in mind I think we will probably sign; Dann, Enrique, Marvaux, McGeady/Downing, Long and Adam/Parker.

However I would prefer Hummels/Howedes, Coentrao/Izaguirre, Gotze/Mata, Hazard/Ayew, Lukaku, Neymar/Bojan and Sandro/Honda

we need to buy:
peter odemwingie
charile adam
stewart downing

03 Jun 2011 01:47:26
any talk about lfc buying a forward is bull. we spent 70+ on carroll and suarez and have kuyt and ngog also we cant afford to go and spend 40+ on aguero or 25+ on sanchez or 20+ on mata. the summer will be about strengthening the centre backs with signings like cahill, dann or sakho and fullbacks as we have called on the youth system by the end of the due to the lack of cover. expect summer signings to be a centre back, fullback and possibly a centre midfielder if people like cole, poulson and maxi are sold

03 Jun 2011 00:43:00
hi eds, i can see liverpool playing a 4, 2, 3, 1 system next season with gerrard playing behind carroll with suarez and hopefully mata on the wings.When gerrard played behind crouch he scored a shed load of goals and with him ready to go next season, i don't see the point of him sitting in the middle of the park whe n he can play a free role.i think we'll have to sitting center midfielders in lucas and adam and we'll play with two attacking full backs in johnson and hopefully vargas.The final addition will be sakho at center half.In total i think these four quality additions will be enough to at least get us into a top four finish to start with next season.whats the chances of this happening?.great site mate

cheers:mini scouse {Ed001's Note - there is a chance of Mata, but no more, Vargas is looking more likely right now, Adam is anyone's guess right now, he has a lot of offers to choose from and no one is even sure if Liverpool's offer is still on the table. Sakho has been priced out of a move at 20m, by the looks of it.}

So i saw this player at the worldcup 2010. He played 3 starting games at the worldcup, then got injuried

Prince Tagoe (born 9 November 1986) is a Ghanaian footballer who plays as a R/Winger/stk loaned to FK Partizan has scored 12 goals in 18 games. On loan from Hoffenheim due to Hoffenheim faking documents exposing a heart-condition that did not exist in order to cancel contract.

So i saw him at the world cup. He was very strong, quick with great work rate. Nothing magical, but i think he would make for a good premiership player. He has a good engine and would fit into EPL well

Liverpool FC is born on this day. The club is changed when Everton club founder John Houlding signs the certificate to change the name of the club to LFC.

Happy Birthday LFC!!!

Ed's I'm deeply worried looking at the leaked details of the ridiculous sums being played to the dead wood in our squad. I have a horrible feeling no one will be able to afford these guys and they'll not only fail to bring in transfer funds but they''l be happy just to sit on the bench and watch the cash roll in!

Provided we can raise the funds my Hunches are Henderson CM (Though having been at the England France game I fail to see what we'll get for 15million that Adam won't give us for half that). I can see Jones or failing that Dann for CB. I've no idea about LB but the Celtic lad sounds good.
If we pay £30million for Henderson and Jones then I think we'll end up with Marveaux on the left as he's a free but I worry about him. We have an appalling record with free transfers (they're usually free for a reason). On the right I'm hoping Mata but it'll probably be Payet or Perotti.

Just my thoughts but a lot will depend on selling and freeing up wages :-(

Why is everyone settling for CL next season. I think it is the perfect time for an LFC BPL Title. Gerrard deserves a title more than anyone in the Premier League. With a few more signings and any that KK and DC bring in are going to be quality because they don't buy s**te. Gone are the days of H&G where we had to wait till August for any kind of transfer activity and when it came it was always lacklustre, signing someone like Jovanovic.

So Lets buy Aguero, Mata, Henderson, Dann, Enrique, Perotti, Gervinho, Hazard etc. and really challenge for the title.

Yes teams can take time to gel, but frankly it is now or never for Stevie G and that Barclays Premier League title. With KK at the helm, anything is possibly.

Why do we need a backup striker? We have Dirk Kuyt and upcoming Morgan if totally necessary.

Will love it if we get Henderson mainly because utd have been after him for a while and loadsa utd fans i know were determined he'd be going there this summer. So is he worth 20 mil? well prob a bit steep but getting one over on those utd fans blimin priceless lol

Ed, just wondering if you could rate these numbers out of 10?
5,
0,
2,
2,
6,
4.
Cheers, love the site. {Ed001's Note - oooo tough one, I will go with 2, 8, 7, 3, 8 and 5.}

Why do peoPle keep saying kalou would come, I'm sorry to be harsh but that's pretty damn stupid. He stated the reason he is leaving Chelsea is because of the little game time he has gotten and why would he leave chelseas bench for ours??

Re: Aguero & Higauin & Mata & Co Situation

1) Real want him

2) Athletico will sell him for his clause

3) However Real would have to pay 60m due to taxes compared to if we signed we wouldn't have these taxes as Aguero and Athletico would pay them

Real want a new team:
Cassilas
Ramos Pepe Carvalho Coentrao
Xabi Sahin Ozil
Di Maria Ronaldo Llorente

Also add Benzema, Adebayor and Aguero to that team, no doubt Higaiun forced himself out

Likely Aguero is not Real bound as the players their signing Sahin, Coentrao, Llorente are about 70m plus 40m for Aguero; highly unlikely to happen TBH

Expect outgoings of Lassana, Gago, Higuain, Marcelo (Benfica I think) Pedro Leon and Sergio Canales are both gone as they just didn't progress as expected since signing within the last two years.

Higuain will be available for 15m no matter if they get Aguero or not, he wont get 1st team with Di Maria, Ronaldo, Benzema, Llorente, Adebayor, Ozil etc etc

Newcastle, if my sources are correct, since hearing news from owner have offered 12m and are in negotiations, Higauin will however decline as he wants a Massive club and CL, IE Man U, AC, Inter, Arsenal but the club must have secure owners, big backing, history and ambition. Probably Arsenal is where I expect him to be sadly

However we are currently in negotiations with Athletico for Aguero and explained by Owners in England to secure that deal, the Mata deal and Perotti.

Also expect advances on Henderson and dependent on Arsenal getting Hazard; if they do I believe their is an agreement between ourselves and Arsenal that if they get Hazard (Commoli in France negotiating; Sahko and Gervinho also) they will sell Walcott for the same price to cover costs; approx 23m I believe

The Next ;)
(PS Sorry for long posts just had to explain what I know) {Ed001's Note - utter nonsense, the tax still has to be paid regardless of who buys the player.}

I know I'm leaving myself wide open to get slaughtered with this one but am I the only one who thinks Jovanovic may have something more to give? I just think that on occasions (rare though they have been) I have seen something in him.
Ed can you give me any support before everyone starts berating me?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - He may well have more to give, but I think time has come.}

i agree with chris, milan deserved a much better chance than he got, the times ive seen him play i was impressed with his contribution, but unfortunately he wasnt given enough of a chance, bud what p***ed me off big time was the fact that poulsen got several more chances than jova did and yet jova is a much better player than him, im simply disgusted with what they did to jovanovic. {Ed001's Note - Milan has no ability whatsoever, he stumbled over the ball every time he got it and tried to run past everyone, despite being unable to dribble.}
