Looking a bit into the future, I see many of our reserve and youth players fitting perfectly into Brendan Rodgers footballing philosophy. I'm thinking of the likes of Teixiera; Ibe; Nacho; Wisdom; Brad Smith; Adorjan; Suso; Silva; Pelosi; Dunn; Sterling; Sama; Coady; Baio; McLaughlin; Lloyd Jones and Jerome Sinclair. Ultimately, not all of them will make it and some will fall by the wayside when subjected to the mental and physical rigours involved in adapting to 'Tiki Taka'. But with the right guidance, such as from Rodolfo Borrell, these players and others in the ranks suggest the future is bright.
As an aside, adopting a style of play that, if not a carbon copy of Barcelona, will certainly pay tribute to it could act as an attraction to up and coming talent that harbour ambitions of one day playing for the Catalan giants. Signing players that could view the reds as a stepping stone to another club may not sit comfortably with many fans, but if it is a factor that causes them to choose us over, say, Spurs or Arsenal, before moving them on after a few years for a big profit may be no bad thing. The owners may certainly think so!

The Shoe Shine Boy

And you were doing so well with the first part of your post. So you are happy with Liverpool being a feeder club for Barca? Granted we are not at the pinnacle of European football at the minute but isnt the owners and BRs vision to put us back there again? That said Im sure being a feeder club isnt much on the agenda!
Ciario

Out of these i will list the names i think would make it with that style of football

Teixiera; Ibe; Nacho; Wisdom; Brad Smith; Adorjan; Suso; Silva; Pelosi; Dunn; Sterling; Sama; Coady; Baio; McLaughlin; Lloyd Jones and Jerome Sinclair.

We might also poach a few promising barca youngsters as well. Like cesc going to arsenal at 16.

MIKEY

The second part of my post was merely an observation. Personally, I would share the discomfort of many fans in seeing our club being regarded by some as a feeder club for the likes of Barca. However, i can also see the attraction of enticing players to us in the first place, for whatever underlying reason they may have. At least, it could be argued, we would have an opportunity to persuade them to stay long term if they were successful and enjoying their football with us. If they choose not to come in the first instance, then we would have no chance at all. The question is, do we want players with motivations other than pulling on the Red shirt of Liverpool?

Hi eds, you keep saying Daniel Pacheco burnt his bridges at the club and probably won't be welcomed back. Would you care to elaborate on what he actually did? {Ed002's Note - It was well discussed at the time and is all there is the archive. I don't suppose we wish to raise the matter agains. I think that the term you refer to was used in respect of Eccleston though.}

All pacheco done was get a little lazy, if your at work and your boss says your slacking work on it you work on it not loan him out and then not give him a chance.

I hope Brendan Rodgers see's what he can do in Pre-season because i know he'd like him and i also hope he has as much weight behind him as he says so that he can keep Pacheco if he feels pacheco has the fundamentals to succeed with his management.

And exactly what did Pacheco do whilst on loan...?

Not a lot!

dmedly

To the first reply to the original post.
You really think that they never told him to pick up his game, that they just loaned him out without any prior warning. No. He was told time and time again to clean it up, to always be at training on time and to get his head together, when diplomacy failed, he was shipped out and will more than likely never be back!

were are these reports coming from about dempsey doubt we would sign him and sigurrsdson although both would score there fair amount of goals which we could do with -THE POPE

03 Jun 2012 22:19:54
Evening eds fellow reds , I here that our new gaffer is on holiday for a week or so , do you think he will get all players in before pre season? And will he bring all non euro champ players back early to training. Cheers psv

He'll have all his signings completed before midnight 31/08/2012

These Would Be My Signings;

In:
Gylfi Sigurdsson-7 Million
Rasmus Elm-8 Million
Clint Dempsey-4 Million
Ibrahim Afellay-6 Million
Junior Hoilett-Free
Luuk De Jong-12 Million
Mohammed Diame-Free

=37 Million

Out:
Kuyt-1 Million
Downing-10 Million
Adam-6 Million
Aquilani-6 Million
Cole-3 Million
Spearing-1 Million

=27 Million

Seems Like Good Business To Me

I can't see us getting 6 million for aquilani.
What club would pay good money to have that leech on the club.

MIKEY

I agree with all that apart from downing going (i would rather see maxi leave), and not hoillet joining but matt jarvis instead. (jarvis is more consistant)

03 Jun 2012 21:49:25
i think kennys persistance to play henderson instead of kuyt in nearly every game last season has been a big factor in his decision to leave, a decision myself and most fans couldnt understand, id of had both maxi and kuyt in before henderson. he could become a good centre midfielder in the future and is only young but henderson was out of his depth on the right last season yet kenny hardly ever left him out, which is part of the reason why we finished were we did and kenny got his p45, maxi and kuyt both chipped in reguarly with goals and and our lack of goals is what cost us nearly all season, do people agree ? and good luck dirk in turkey and thanks for some big goals you scored.

100% agree. We didn't have enough goal scorers out there. With Carrolls poor play through most of the season we only had Suarez as a scorer. If we had 2 guys clicking and scoring goals up front then it would have made sense to play Henderson out right. However with our lack of scoring we really needed to try to fit players who could score in anywhere we could, which is why we should have had Kuyt playing more often.

Kuyt played 50 games last season, game time wasn't a factor, quit stirring {Ed016's Note - Champions League? He has been quoted several times saying he wants to start more. "quit stirring" cheers.}

Henderson is young and has no doubt learnt a lot by having so much game time at a big club, kuyt and maxi are both at the ends of their careers and have been likely to leave since last summer anyway.
Kenny by playing him has done the player and the club a huge favour by developing him.

MIKEY {Ed040's Note - playing him out of position on the right wing?}

Better on the right wing than the bench ed.

MIKEY

He was loyal, scored goals and was extremely hard working....but his age means he will not get any better. Both Dirk and Lil Luis Garcia have been a couple of my favourite players but also the two that make my groan and shout at the tv more than other. If Kuyt could control a ball and pass he would have been world class. Having said that, he always gave his heart and soul and I will miss him in the team

cozinoz

Kenny kept playing Adam, Henderson and Downing because he paid big money for them and so had to play them.

It was a blunder, and it is why we have a new manager.

Just a few more goals at the right time could have seen us challenge for the top 4 instead of 8th. But for some reason, the one guy who could have provided them - Dirk Kuyt - was kept on the bench.

No wonder Kuyt was annoyed.

Dirk kuyt played 42 games last season and not 50 and 18 were as a sub, he scored a goal every 462mins, henderson scored every 1728mins, both agger and skirtel had far better ratios than henderson, my point wasnt to have a go at henderson cos the kid was out of position, but to say kuyt and even maxi would of been a better option on the right last season,the kids young so give maybe less games but in a position that that he can play.

No i would rather of had him on the bench than on the right , its about a team trying to win games not giving a young centre midfielder playing time and experiance in a position he struggled in,

03 Jun 2012 21:31:47
for all of the fans that seem to think we have a set amount of Transfer funds ( 30 mil, 20 mil most people think) well congrats we now have 21/31 mil...... JLFC {Ed016's Note - Not a set transfer budget for the people who think that btw}

03 Jun 2012 21:28:27
I don't know about anyone else but there is something very trustworthy about Rodgers, I'm feeling very optimistic
{Ed016's Note - I know what you mean. He seems to have a certain presence I think he is going to do well}

So far he has come across pretty well and does feel me with optimism, but I'm worried certain fans may be calling for his head come the end of the season if we don't make the top four...as some seem to think this is success.

dmedly

Top 4 WOULD be success next season.

Top 4 would be a miracle next year given the rebuilding needed, especially if Suarez goes. However, I do think BR has an aura about him, seems PR savvy, looks as though he won't take any nonsense, and he will try to deliver what the fans want in the long term. First impressions count.

03 Jun 2012 21:26:28
Hi eds, with Rodgers coming in, what type of players do you think are likely to be joining? (age/style, possibly nationality wise). Just trying to weigh up possible ins and outs. Really excited about Rodgers appointment! Got to be patient and allow time I feel!

Mike G {Ed002's Note - There will be a 23 year old Dutchman with gingery fair hair and a quiff.}

Siem de jong?

Oh my god. Not more quirky hairstyles!
We need more Kelly-esque figures. Show the good conservative wasp based ideals that are LFC.

Who's that then Ed? {Ed002's Note - I was kidding given the ridiculous question.}

That's either Bas Dost or Michael van Gerwen the darts player?
I thought he'd shaved his head nowadays?

Chris in Tamworth

Ed I feel really foolish asking this, but would you mind clarifying if you mean luuk de jong by this. Also if he is someone we're looking or who is coming to LFC. It's been one those lazy days and the brain's not working too well. Cheers

Koopa Troopa {Ed016's Note - He as just joking}

I thought Tintin, was from Belgium?

03 Jun 2012 21:23:02
Giovani dos santos is playing serious stuff tonight for Mexico why do spurs not rate him at all

We do rate him, its just that he likes his nights out! although saying that he looks like he will be used more next season! reports of him leaving are premature at the moment

Did hector herrera or marco bueno play? if so how did they look?

ACHILLES.

Think he likes to party!

dmedly

Because he parties,, booo hooo hooo....

he enjoys himself,, booo hooo hooo....

hes not suppose to have a life,, booo hooo hooo....

it's not like he just started to play well for Mexico he been a first team player for years now and he's only what 23.

Of course he's not supposed to have a life - he gets paid a shed load to do his job which includes maintaining good health and fitness

cozinoz

Don't want him anywhere near the club.

And if Sterling does not shape up this season, we need to move him on as well.

No more "Spice Boys", please. We need a manager who is going to crack the whip.

Coz, bit strong mate...

03 Jun 2012 21:21:50
Charlie Adam,Maxi & Spearing to move on from Anfield in the coming months,possibility of Suarez leaving at around the £40 million mark

Go back to your own page.

03 Jun 2012 21:08:34
Hi,like your site and kinda adddicted to it
when do you think we start the serious business in the market?
And who do you think would be /are Rodgers targets?

{Ed016's Note - Tough to say. Kuyt went today without a word of warning really. I mean we saw it coming but the actual date we had no clue about obviously. Things are being kept quiet as usual with the new owners. But as soon as we do hear something I am sure you will know, glad you enjoy the site.}

Ed wont the money we got for Meireles still be lying around as we havent signed anyone since he was sold? cheers JF LFC {Ed040's Note - True not sure it works that way though}

Thats only from our end though, if we want to sign a player either that player or that players agent or that players club will make it public.

03 Jun 2012 21:01:08
Eds last year we spent £100m but this year you're saying our budget is only around £25m - £30m.

How comes the owners are not providing as much money for transfers now?

Harry P {Ed016's Note - We're not saying anything of the such. There is no set budget. Remember it was not a total of $100 mill. There were player sales also so remember that goes back into the pot. Even if it was at 25-30 million then that would be a great transfer budget for us. Add another 1 Million plus Dirks Wages already gives us pretty much 4-5 million extra. But no where have we said it is between that, well certainly not me}

Bbc said 30m in the middle of one of their articles (not gossip column) and they're probably the most reliable source around

You have to factor in the sale of Torres into last years spending, plus the fact that the wage bill was lowered and overall spending from January through the summer wasn't very much. Im sure we have some number in mind that the owners feel comfortable spending. However its not a hard cap. If the number in their head is 30 mil and we spend 28 and then another useful player can be bought for 4 mil the owners are not going to say "wait, thats 2 mil over budget". Plus if the absolute perfect fit comes along they will go above and beyond. For example with the Red Sox they signed a player named Adrian Gonzalez. No one saw that large expenditure coming at that time. However they knew they had a couple older players who would be leaving soon and that within the next 2-3 years theyd need to spend big on another hitter. However Gonzalez was such a perfect fit that they just went out and got him when he was availible eventhough it bloated their payroll short term. The same will apply here, if the right player comes along and wants to come to Liverpool the owners will go above and beyond any budget they have set to get it done.

Only reliable source is the club

There is no set budget,I don't know why fans are so obsessed with how much we have to spend.We Know we can spend the Miereles money.and whatever else we rake in from sales.I am sure our owners will support the manager in buying players,but expect the wage bill to be reduced.I am sure that who ever replaces Kuyt will not get the same wages.even if it's 5k a week less.

Now imagine if we have 30m to spend and sell; downing, adam, spearing, pacheco, wilson and cole plus 1m from kuyt.
plus with contracts ending a being released more money available for player contracts.

Maxi, Jones, Amoo, Aurelio, poulsen as well as the high earning joe cole's contract.

we would have £50m-£55m to spend on a striker, 1 FWD, 3 midfielders (1 wingers, 1 AM and a DM.

ST; up to £20m for a decent striker
Wing; Afellay £6-7m
DM; Clasie £8m
FWD; dos santos £4.5m
AM; Sigurdsson 7m
Plus Creative Mid; Aquilani

comes in at £46.5m
with £4m-£10m left over for some to use on a lb or to keep until January.

03 Jun 2012 21:00:29
Question slightly out of the blue, but Eds, do you not think that with all the sackings that have gone on surrounding the Suarez affair that the owners have appezed the sponsor by laying the blame at their feet rather than at his, therefore excusing him for still being with us next season? If you get my point, scapegoats rather than goat. {Ed001's Note - no, I think they have just shown that they are ruthless in getting what they want. It makes it more likely they will get rid of Suarez too, in my opinion.}

I don't think the sponsors are too worried about Surez, after all he's selling more shirts than anyone else.
Bobbinred

Would you won't him to go Ed01? I know you think he's selfish and wasteful, but he is mesmerising and that hatrick last season proved he can be lethal. Of he buckles down and cuts out the antics (big if) then he could be a world class consistent performer.

Papa G {Ed001's Note - he has shown major improvement on the pitch, he stopped diving constantly, he stopped throwing so many tantrums and started playing more for the team. But there is always that tendency towards doing something stupid. So I am torn, I would let him go, but only for the right price.}

The right price x2

Myk

I think its too late to sell Suarez now, they had a record number of shirt sales with his name on the back and to sell him now would send fans into outrage!

Suarez is going nowhere. Splashed all over LFC website in new away kit,sponsors love him !! B

03 Jun 2012 20:57:16
farewell and good luck dirk, not the best ever footballer but always gave 100%, as a human being worth 10 torres and at least 20 owens

As a person yeah. As a footballer they were 10 times better.

03 Jun 2012 20:41:51
best of luck dirk what a shift that man put in for us great man thanks to dirk and his family.YNWA

RED KENNY

03 Jun 2012 20:38:57
Seems to me like the more I read and learn about Rodgers style of play that Suarez may be more suited to play on the right as one of the wide forwards. Now this obviously at this point would mean Carroll would have to be the center forward. Is he capable of doing this at a high enough level? Maybe if he can play at the level he did over the last 1/3 of this season and improve upon that. But if we played Suarez on the right, with Carroll in the middle and add a signing for the left, Munain perhaps? That this could be a fairly lethal front three. Obviously alot will depend on Carroll but when you consider that we probably can't fill all of our holes in one transfer window it might make sense to give Carroll a chance and concentrate on other positions. Carroll is potentially (although far from guaranteed solution) at center forward whereas at other positions we have no real potential solutions. IMO we should spend whatever funds we do have on those.

I Tottly agree

Without spending a dime;4-2-3-1;Carrol.Suarez,Aquaman/Cole,Sterling,Gerard,Lucas,Enrique,Skrtel,Agger,Johnston.Carrol up front Suarez and Sterling inside left and right,Aquaman pulling the strings,Stevie G and Lucas lending a bit of bite.Enrique and Johnston providing some extra width,jobs a good un !! B

03 Jun 2012 20:28:48
On the stadium could FSG opt for a compromise between a new build and refurb of Anfield, I believe that would be the best solution for everyone concerned.

HOWLER

Have you told them that

What would be a compromise surely its one or the other

Why don't we rebuild Anfield AND build a new stadium. Then we would have two. More than the other teams ;)

cozinoz {Ed040's Note - genius idea!}

A newfurb is the way forward. It could be out on its own.

We build half a new stadium and refurbish half of anfield - we just have to travel between them during half time.

Jolly Red

We could build a new stadium, and then refurb it.

Redjinal

What a stupid post

03 Jun 2012 20:22:24
Just seen new away kits on official website and Keeper top the same colour as outfield!!? (this breaks the rules?).

The kits are a grower pure black yellow crest and warrior badge (no sponsor though so maybye a new sponsor in the pipeline) Socks and shorts also pure black.

Bold move from warrior real no nonsense no frills stuff.

Corky {Ed022's Note - Sigh.}

Dear me

Use the search function and you will c that they are blacked out

*all Eds roll eyes and shake heads*

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - at least tomorrow it is revealed, so it will stop until the 3rd kit appears....}

Classic Ed022 best ever reply haha!!...You gota love it...YNWA!!

Ed- genuinely laughed out loud

Lfc matt

Cant sugar coat this eds, post at your discretion
corky, you sir are an idiot, the new away kit is not revealed till tommorrow, and the keeper kit is not the same as the home, i bet you clicked the link on the new away kit and it takes you to the shop with the home kit on it and you put 1+1 together and got 7, what a plum

big red g

Ed022....I feel ur pain !

Red Til Dead

Oh dear, please re-read your post because i think you've made a clanger!

koppite7 YNWA

It's ok Ed. I'll take this one lol. The Eds already answered this, the website puts up a teaser a little while before they release the official kit. So that is not the 2nd kit, it hasn't been released yet. Apparently people get misled every year.

Fitz,
Jamaica

Morons! Go check out the official website! You dumb fools the photo is there all kits are pure black including the keepers and no sponsor!

Why would the official site show a fake kit?

You plums!

CORKY

Oh please

Armadillo

Corky my dear boy you are going to feel such a tit when you realise!

Chris in Tamworth

Its not a fake plum its blacked out so you dont know the details of it eg. Colour

Seriously Corky, you need to stop, just stop...

Corky do you have a twitter account? If so, I really need to follow you.

Oh dear Corky, I think my literature teacher would call you referring to us as idiots as 'situational irony'.

Fitz,
Jamaica

Corky man you just don't know when to stop, they are blacked out, revealed on the 4th, tomorrow, you really think everything is going to be black, including the keepers kit

They aren't showing the kit, it's blacked out, don't you think it is strange that absolutely everything is black including the keepers kit

This makes me laugh {Ed016's Note - Not me and the hundreds of responses trying to guess that haven't made it onto the page}

The kit is not blacked out you can see it is totally black!

If this isnt the kit customers who order it could later demand a refund for false advertising!

Dont take my word look at the clubs own website!

You can order it SO IT IS THE KIT YOU PLUMS.

I ordered mine KUYT 19 so if it aint all black I will be mega annoyed!

CORKY {Ed016's Note - lol, just before everyone attacks back. Turn your sarcasm sensors on}

Corky, I actually thought you were being funny and this gave me a good laugh. Surely you don't think the image represents the next kit? Or maybe you are right! We'll be the Liverpool All Blacks.

PMSL Corky your a legend mate. I gotta take you out for a beer!

:D

So, now that the kit has officially been launched, and isnt all black, will you still be asking for your refund?

This.... ladies and gentlemen, is the funniest sequence of posts i have seen in my entire time on the internet! Corky... jesus mate...

Did no one get he was messing about?

He asked for a Kuyt shirt after he was sold with the number 19, Kuyt was number 18 lol

03 Jun 2012 20:16:16
Hi Eds & Macca, great site.

Is there any chance of us landing Jackson Martinez and/or Adam Johnson?

Thanks!
El Benito

{Ed022's Note - Unlikely.}

03 Jun 2012 20:14:24
With Rodgers just been appointed, who would have given the ok for kuyt to be sold.
I know that there has been of talk he would be leaving in the summer but for £1million seems a joke. We would have been better keeping him for that amount?

It alwasy seems that we pay over the odds for players and get shafted when we sell.

Rushdentillidie {Ed022's Note - Rodgers would have given the ok.}

Would he even have meet Kyut, his he not at the euros?

Wasnt there a release clause {Ed001's Note - nope.}

Wasn't it something to do with a clause in his contract, that made him available for so cheap? {Ed016's Note - I thought he had one but ed01 knows more than me. More likely the fact he was entering the last year of his contract is why he was so cheap}

I'm glad he has gone , a big step forward . I would rather have Toni Silva in the team from now on than Dirk Kuyt .

EdWood

Selling senior players like Dirk for so cheap isn't only about a transfer fee, it's one of the fatter wages out of the way too.

I dont get why everyone is saying Carroll wont fit into BR's playing style, has anyone ever actually watched Dany Graham? he's hardly a pass and move player..

Gman

I thought the same; that the striker wouldn't get much of the ball until they got to finish the chances but I've never watched Swansea play live; only highlights so I cant say. Does anyone know the involvement of a striker in Rodgers' setup?

Rodgers will not want to rock the boat as much as some of you's lot think.

Yes there will be departures but they will be the players who WANT to leave.

Carroll is a big, young beast and I will put my mortgage on it that Rodgers cant wait to try and improve him.

Kuyts gone, maxi will go home and spearing/shelvey will be loaned out for sure but mainly Rodgers will be looking to add to what he has, not rip them apart.

Granted, Adam should be sold, but I think Downing will do much better next season, he cant do any worse can he lol.

03 Jun 2012 20:13:10
Im am sorry if it been asked before but i didnt find it in the search function/
How much we got for kuyt ?
and how you (ed's) woald like to replace him?
Thanx
Tom Red {Ed022's Note - About £1.5 million. I would choose Luuk De Jong, Matt Phillips or Susaeta personally.}

I realy dont understand the transfer seistem how we only got 1.5 for kuyt dutch team etc...
It will be diply appraised if you can explen it.
thank you very much for all your hard work epic site
Tom Red {Ed001's Note - it is simple, he only had a short contract, he is over 30, he wanted to leave and we wanted his wages off our bill.}

03 Jun 2012 20:08:12
A goal in the 2007 champions league final, a goal in the 2012 carling cup final, a brace against Everton, a hat-trick against United and that penalty against Arsenal after a very long injury time! Dirk Kuyt was so underrated during his time at Liverpool! Surely BR will sign a right hand sided player now! Macca/eds? {Ed022's Note - Yes.}

03 Jun 2012 20:07:54
Names linked with Liverpool
Adam Johnson
Didier Drogba
Gylfi Sigurddson
James Milner
Theo Walcott

Johnson/Attitude
Drogba/Age
Gylfi/Possibly
Milner/Sqaud player
Walcott/Possible squad player

Cannot see this batch moving us forward

Puzzled

Drogba????????????

According to whom?

Drogba and milner are not linked with liverpool

I'd take walcott

Of these, only Sigurddson is linked. A. Johnson linked by fans on this webpage. The others are silly.

I think you just linked them with the club mate. Because some of those are news to everyone

03 Jun 2012 20:03:26
Is there intrest in mario suarez? {Ed022's Note - Who on earth is that?}

Holding midfielder for Atleti. I doubt they will want to let him go.

I think he/she means mathias suarez...

Mario Suarez player for Atletico Madrid, Defensive midfielder, 25, Spanish. very good player, standing tackles quick on his feet for a '6"1" ft guy, assured in position BUT would he want to be second choice behind the Brazilian International Lucas. he is pretty much first-choice Holding Mid at his current club

He can push forward too, he'd make a good standard midfielder in years to come. 25? really? wasn't long ago i remember seeing him in youth setups and as a promising young pup... time flies...

I'm getting worried about Rodgers talking about getting average players. Chelsea have just bought Hazard and Hulk and we are after average players from Swansea? The future doesn't look too good imo. {Ed016's Note - When has Rogers spoken of average players? Havent heard anything about targets from him}

The only person he talked about was gylfi

You create a team not gang of overpaid superstars , thats what fergie learnt tryin to overhaul lfc back then ! He was tryin to pick up the best players but then brought thru the youth and look were they are now ...nudged off our perch, but brendan will get us back on our proud perch im sure !
kopace

Haha a good hard tackle in the first few minutes of a game will fairly quiet both players imo.

Will Lucas be fit for the start of the season? As good as a new signing.... {Ed016's Note - Should be, but don't think he will be as sharp as he was when he got injured. He did some nasty damage to his leg. He may not be looking himself until November/December maybe even January, really nasty injury, happened to myself once.}

Ed, as a defensive midfielder who always goes into a tackle, will the lad ever be the same? I'm just curious, - asking considering your experience- as we've seen with Essien, he just never fully recovered. You'll always be that little bit hesitant to go all in.

NextGenRed {Ed022's Note - Lucas may be a little hesitant at first, but with time then the confidence in tackling will return.}

I recently found out I have to have a similar surgery on my knee and the therapy and down time is not easy at all. I admire Lucas for his dedication to get back and his work on his recovery.

Red Rat

I played at pro level as a goalkeeper until i was 24, I smashed my leg up in a bad tackle, had it pinned and screwed etc, it was nasty, 12 months on the sofa with a newborn to contend with!, I never came back the same, too nervous
My point being its just personalwith how your mind copes with it even before you see if the physical side is the same, hope this helps and good luck to Lucas
The Guv 81-9 YNWA JFT96

So Ed are you an ex pro or did you wreck your knee skiing or participating in a other sport......Knight templar

{Ed016's Note - I busted it up playing rugby, To people asking if he will be the same then I can't really compare because he has probably had better physio therapy than I did.}

Lucas has been a warrior since arriving at anfield, carried himself through when the entire ground was on his back.

If any player is mentaly strong enough Lucas is. Cause we need him badly this season

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'd take Defoe in heartbeat.
Absolute live wire in his cameo last night natural goalscorer (sorry Ed001)

Chris in Tamworth {Ed016's Note - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Defoe is over rated and getting on......sorry Chris have to strongly disagree with you're opinion on him.}

Defoe has scored just over a 100 goals in about 10years in top flight footy hard natural goal scorer the amount of chances he misses is a joke law of averages would say he'd at least score a few he's no more prolific than anyone we've got mate sorry Chris have to disagree bud!

It's ok to disagree Ed, everyone is entitled to an opinion. As long as you realise my opinion is the right one ;-)

Chris in Tamworth {Ed016's Note - Haha, I already know how different our opinions are but that's a good thing mate.}

He has a goal ratio of 1 goal every 2.4 games.
Please enlighten me with any available premiership strikers with anything even close to that

Chris in Tamworth {Ed016's Note - Why are we looking in the premiership again Chris? What about the season before when he got 4 goals in 22 games? He is 29 going on 30 at the start of next season. You might be right that there is no one better available in the premiership but there are much better options outside of the prem on a lot lower wages. Did Demba Ba come from an English team? Cisse? No, so whats with this we need a "Prem proven" player malarky?}

No, I agree Ed, I'd rather buy from abroad in the main but please don't go down the Ba, Cisse route. Ba was on fire for half a season then what? Same with Cisse, who knows what he'll do in his second season? Even Hernandez at utd couldn't do it second season. I've seen so many players especially strikers have half a season or maybe one full season then disappear. I wouldn't touch anybody based on only one season.
With the chances we create I believe Defoe or even Bent for that matter would score 20+ a season do you think well have a striker that'll do that? By the way it doesn't hurt to be "premiership proven"

Chris in Tamworth {Ed016's Note - No matter which way we argue here Chris it doesn't matter. We don't get to choose who they buy. I still think Defoe is unlikely, doesn't fit into FSG policy at all. Think younger mate.}

03 Jun 2012 19:30:12
Hi edds, what are the chances to get dries mertens? Looks like a star in the making? {Ed016's Note - No interest}

03 Jun 2012 19:24:38
Hi Eds, any news on Jackson Martinez , cheers {Ed022's Note - Nope.}

03 Jun 2012 19:15:00
Joe Allen? Clint Dempsey? wow....we really don't learn from our mistakes, its not about buying quantity, it's about buying QUALITY FFS!!!

03 Jun 2012 19:13:06
Why do I keep seeing rumors linking Joe Allen to LFC, but isn't he a Swansea player? Thought there was a trade embargo for 12 mo's between both clubs. {Ed022's Note - There is, but people are morons.}

Morons for even wantin Allen we don't need anymore average players.

03 Jun 2012 19:25:43
I have a couple of questions for the Eds:

1. Are we allowed to sign swansea players?
2. How much is BR's transfer budget?
3. is sigurdson a swansea player, or is he available?
4. Has anyone enquired about Carrol, if they have, how much will we get, and will we spend it on De Jong?
5. Based on shirt sales, will Suarez leave?
6. DOES ANYONE USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION?
7. As Ed 002 is American/female/chelski fan, can she tell me if Sturridge is available/brainless?
8. can Macca tell us if hes real? if so, is Aguero on his way yet?

Love the site. Love the Eds/regulars. Worry about the nameless hordes.
Impressed with BR. can't wait for the new season. YNWA.

BigBadBen

Also, notice that Maccas gone quiet. Oh, and good luck to Stevie G at the Euros. Lol. {Ed016's Note - You ask if anyone uses the search engine yet all your questions could be answered if you searched. so here we got. No, Not set, No, No, Not sure, No and ed02 is on holiday plus sturridge is crap}

My ironic musings have been completely blown out of the water by a huge dose of counter-irony (?) Ed 016 I salute you. I think. Or maybe it went over your head. Or mine.

BigBadBen {Ed016's Note - haha, }

Ferdinand, the most overated defender in the last 10 years?? Or maybe Sol? {Ed040's Note - laurent blanc easy!}

03 Jun 2012 18:53:04
Liverpool played some class football in the cups this season and to be fair so did Chelsea, with six Liverpool players now in the England team I'm beginning to get quite excited about the euros! Can't wait for it to start, come on lads make then England spots your own and bring home a trophy!!

Mellor {Ed016's Note - Lol see Ferdinands reaction to not being called up instead of Kelly. Glad they are getting rid of these old players and moving forward}

Haha eds what was his reaction? {Ed016's Note - He said on twitter. "What reasons?????!!" Like what an idiot. Before all that he is talking how its good for Wellbeck and Ox to get into the England squad because they are young. As soon as Kelly gets a call up he disrespects him. We all know Rio isn't going because of Terry. To be honest would rather they both got left at home. I used to love watching England play, now its full of big heads and ego's. Since 2002 basically. Sick of it.}

Ferdinand has always been a dipstick and for the last couple of seasons he has been protected by Vidic. With him out of the side, he's been embarrassed a number of times this season. Even if he wasn't past it, it's great to watch him make a fool of himself. The bigger they think they are, the harder they fall.
ND

Ferdinand is a true a**hole....I'll be supporting Kelly all the way haha hope he gets a chance!

03 Jun 2012 18:48:50
hey eds, gr8 site
just wanted to ask in your honest opinion will we be looking at young emerging talent (like BR) or more experienced players to help consolidate our position in the top 6 places of the league?

03 Jun 2012 18:48:08
Hey Ed's and all, not a rumour but here is a link to a leak of next season's away kit if anyone is interested in seeing it. as you can see it's legit.
Levon 69

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4zygslG2i1qg93xbo1_500.jpg {Ed016's Note - Looks nice, pretty grainy pic}

Its deffo that, black and yellow with grey along the side under the arms. with the sponsor, kit manufacturer logo's and liverbird in yellow and the shorts have a red strike along the rim. and i think its only the home kit that has the collar.

in the yes & no interview with Jose Enrique he was about to say black for a kit colour. he said i like the kit they have many colours, red.. bl..

03 Jun 2012 18:47:28
i posted on here 3-5 days ago about how dembele would be a great signing for us as he was amazing against us last season, he never gives the ball away and he is very strong, one of the ed's shot me down and didn't rate him, well on last nights performance i think i proved the ed wrong. man of the match performance v england last night. {Ed016's Note - One game doesn't prove anything. I don't see him joining}

03 Jun 2012 18:44:56
just wondering if agger will be staying at the club because i want agger 5 on the back but dont know if i should
{Ed016's Note - I think you should just wait till the start of the season to choose your name mate. Get the kit for now and wait and see who's about in September. I hope he stays too.}

03 Jun 2012 18:44:55
selling Kuyt frees up an extra £4 million in wages. Who should that be spent on?

It depends who is worth 80k a week that we are interested in.

DOS SANTOS or IBRAHIM AFELLAY
but i would go for afellay from what ive seen of dos santos he likes being a one man team player and cos hes of that mentality he hasnt made it a tottenham n if he had sayed at barcelona he wouldnt of got a look in there either.

ACHILLES. {Ed016's Note - Eek. Affelay has had injury problems and Dos Santos has always been talked up to be this talent that he has never really produced.}

I'd argue that at 23 there is about 5 years still before you can judge Giovani dos Santos about his talent...

but even still i think that he has talent and there is plenty of time for it to be projected in the right team.

03 Jun 2012 18:37:19
Read Spurs are going in for Luuk De Jong, any truth in this Ed's? {Ed016's Note - I am sure they are also interested in him yes}

03 Jun 2012 18:32:28
Sad to see Dirk go. One of my favourites.
Probably the hardest working Liverpool player I ever saw. Bailed us out in the League Cup Final.

Offered much more than several players last season who played while he sat on the bench.

Good luck! YNWA

03 Jun 2012 19:07:31
Reading the tiki taka article, and it states position 3 is the most important position to its success, it requires someone who has an excellent pass rate who can control the game making the link from defense to attack.

Its Sad to say we had probably one of the best in the game at this position ; Xabi Alonso, its a shame we couldn't entice him back, he would be perfect.

Whats your thoughts Ed

Evered {Ed022's Note - On what? My thoughts on life are currently regarding potato's.}

AQUILANI - the boy with the perfect vision, but then again with those big funny looking eyes it would be a sin to not use them.

We have lucas for the busquets role

we have Aquilani for the Creative Passing

we have Suarez "who can sweet talk his way past any defender"

we have two defenders who play the passing game and split up to create space for the holding midfield (the warden)

we have the sweep keeper/ counter attack instigator

we have England's best attacking right full back

we have one of the leagues best passing left backs

we just need two good forwards/wingers and another creative midfielder.

Zone 3: The 'volante de salida'
This player must be particularly good at PLAYING HIS WAY OUT OF TROUBLE and yet still excellent at WINNING THE BALL BACK. Typical characteristics are the ability to READ THE GAME, act as an outlet for under-pressure teammates consistently and continually PASS THE BALL UNDER PRESSURE.

I think this are all abilities Lucas has shown he possesses and is capable of.
And I'm really confident that he will grow in this role next season and will fit it perfectly for years to come.
He will turn in one of the finest midfielders of the game.
He can do this, it's not for nothing that he was a "box to box" creative midfielder at Gremio.

Cheers

Phil

Phil if you must not have seen lucas play, he ALREADY plays this way, his first touch is always either a pass or a turn with his back towards his own goal and then passes taking only 3 or 4 touches at most. that's how he played his way into the Brazilian National Team STARTER No5 Jersey.

and his tackling is spot on, after giving so many free kicks/penalties away resulting in goals conceded. he tackles but he doesn't tackle he just takes the ball like the sun gives light.

he's got fluidity, consistency, composer, confidence, spacial awareness and always finds an outlet.

Haych

Thank you Dirk for all the great memeories you've give for all our club. Always will be remembered. All the best for the future. Do well in the euros

03 Jun 2012 18:58:38
The "Rodgers and Tiki Taka" article is an excellent read everyone should give it a look.

Square tomato

03 Jun 2012 18:57:28
Firstly I like to thank dirk all the hard work hes put in over the years , all the best for the future.

Secondly onto to transfers.

Apart from obviously replacing who leaves I think we need to look at a proper RM . A tricky player with speed.

Then a real goal scorer. Who that'll be I don't know.

I can see downing staying on , then in a couple of years lose him with sterling taking his place.

If we go for sigurdsson I'd have thought that was bye bye Charlie Adam.

LAVERS

Bye bye joe, maxi, charlie and jay for me

bring in a 1st team RW-Fwd/ Muniain?

a DM for cover and replacing Spearing/ Jordy Clasie?

a young winger-forward (to strengthen the squad)/ dos santos?

a quality striker-forward/ Luuk de Jong - Matias Suarez?

a back up left back

promote
Suso (David Silva type)

Sterling (Tekerz, dribbling, pace and clinical)

Toni Silva (pace, power shooting, skill, physical, dribbling skills)

S.Sama (mobile, power shooting, passing, physical - both feet, long or short)

03 Jun 2012 18:37:44
it is evident rodgers will play a 3-4-3 formation meaning we are after 2 wingers 1 central midfielder and a back up striker

You mean 4-3-3?

It is evident that that is not evident. read the articles "tiki taka" on the lfc website please

He usually played a 4-2-1-3 at Swansea. {Ed016's Note - Same thing really}

Well same as a 4-3-3, not a 3-4-3. People do get too hung up on formations. A 4-3-3, 4-2-1-3 and 4-2-3-1 can all look exactly the same depending on how exactly the players play. {Ed016's Note - exactly}

I'd more like a 41221 why because that is the real tiki taka formation. not two in dm as the whole team will do their job in defense making one more body available in the creative midfield role.

reina
johnson, skrtel, agger, jose
...................lucas
.........gerrard,,,,,aquilani

Defoe to Liverpool... just seems a logical move?

More average players to add to our squad

Defour you mean

6 Liverpool players at the Euros with England “ surly there must be some hope - YNWA

Lol dont know who that's worse for England or Liverpool
Irish John

Under Roy England haven`t got a hope in hell. Far too over rated.

Kevo

Its always liverpool

The more players from the same clubs are involved the more for England because it creates a bigger bond and Kelly Deserved it he played well for England u21 every time he put on the shirt. scored 3 goals in 6, surely strikers would take that.

03 Jun 2012 18:16:22
eds out of eriksen and adam maher who is the better option based on potential, talent, price and avaliabillity for liverpool to sign. P.S keep up the good work eds {Ed019's Note - I don't think either are likely to sign}

03 Jun 2012 18:15:02
Good source tells me Arsenal have bid 10mil for Nicky Powell, and apparently Liverpool have bid 8mil. Dario will no doubt have final say, though Powells preference is us. hopefully the good relationship with Crewe can get back on track after Rafa turned his back on there amazing academy.

Ps. Good luck Dirk

03 Jun 2012 18:14:13
Thanks Dirk “ One of our best ever, bit of a shame for you that you where with us at such a barren period, but at least you got one winners medal at Wembley this year. And don't forget YNWA¦..

Perhaps the management that bought players of his ability or "lack of it" is responsible for our very long barren period.

Hi Ed's
Liverpool obviously need a centre back if sketel goes!
A left back competition for Enrique
A creative cm
A R Winger
An a goal scorer
Would you have any idea yet who is most likely to be bort in?
Plz post {Ed019's Note - Not really yet}

Goodbye Dirk Kuyt, he will be missed. He always gave 100% no matter what, and he will always be remembered for his goal in the 2007 CL final, his Hat-trick vs Man Utd and his goal in the CC Final. I wish him the best of luck in Turkey.

Eds is there any chance of BR getting players from comparatively unknown leagues..
he has great eye for talent bringing players like Vorm(1.5m),sinclair(0.5m)sigurdsson(loan)..so hoping we can scout our own gems for cheap like chicharito..

have we any chance of getting players like Sime vrsaljko or karim ansarifard(the guy plays like a young torres) for eg..

they are random names maybe to some & i dont play console ,just that came across their names in the internet and then seen them play a few times and both looks great players for the future ..

PlZ post {Ed016's Note - He can not sign Swans players for 12 months.}

Seems ed 16 didn't bothering reading the post properly. He is using the Swansea players as examples of Rodgers eye for talent.

03 Jun 2012 17:16:54
Ed's, anyone with good knowledge. Can you give us an idea of the scouting setup at Liverpool. How many scouts do we have and are they assigned particular countries, regions, sectors (like youth players). I imagine we employ people on a consultancy basis i.e Canniggia in South America, any scouts/consultants for Asia, North America etc. Do they just scout for us or multiple clubs? Sorry for several questions, just wanted to know how our setup compares to other 'big clubs'. Any feedback appreciated.

Jackal {Ed016's Note - Well have you seen lately that Liverpool has a few Acadamy's around the world now. I believe there is one in the Middle East Area and one in North America and we have a great relationship with Nacional In South America. We have a solid foothold for scouting around the world}

03 Jun 2012 17:48:23
Why are liverpool not talking to solomon kalou? Free transfer? Pacy winger who can score surely worth a punt.

UlsterRed {Ed016's Note - High wages, not that good}

An absolutely pahetic idea. im surprised you dont want torres back as well ?

I got so surprised when people suggest squad players. It's clear to anyone we have enough of them. We either need youngsters with incredible potential or players who will more than likely walk into out first team!
CQ

03 Jun 2012 17:42:29
Macca, thanks for all the info that u give us before hand. i would like to ask have u got any info on whos going to be signed by us as we already have our manager. any interest in rasmus elm

redh0t {Ed016's Note - Macca doesn't get to answer too many questions, but from what I have heard there has been Interest in Elm}

03 Jun 2012 17:37:28
Thanks Dirk Kuyt for a real shift in the Liverpool trenches. Great heart and real competitor. Good luck in the future

Pompey red {Ed016's Note - Have to agree with "shift" never seen a player work so hard on the pitch.}

03 Jun 2012 17:36:20
ed do you think its possible we could see kelly playing cb for us next season? {Ed016's Note - Maybe, depends on how things go in the summer. I would think he could do a top job there though}

03 Jun 2012 17:34:33
well dirk thanks for everything. you were a great player for us and got some important goals through the years. we wish you all the best. YNWA. derryred {Ed016's Note - Maybe now we can sign a real winger}

Agree with ed.

Bit harsh ed? Maybe your right but the guy never moaned and did work for the club like he loved it

Kuyt never moaned??!!!!

What is wrong with you people.

heard from a good source in wales that huw jenkins has told brendan that he can sign joe allan cos he does not want to hold the kid back as long as we are prepared to let swansea have 1 or 2 of our fringe squad members for next season !
kopace {Ed016's Note - I guess this could be a possibility. It seems Jenkins is actually a top top bloke. But I am doubtful of it happening this season}

I see a few of our players going on loan to Swansea though...Rodgers said its a good place for players to develop.

I'm hoping spearing will either be sold or loaned out for a season with an option to buy, he's not a good footballer!

03 Jun 2012 17:52:52
I wouldn't actually mind if we got Dempsey

03 Jun 2012 17:31:10
with the right guidance Raheem sterling could be as big as messi while learing to be a team player.

Messi still isn't a teamp player, sterling is for now

03 Jun 2012 17:30:53
Eds you think we will but a DM this summer?
Javi Matinez, M'Villa or Cheick Tiote would be an amazing signing.

Is M'Villa definitely going to Arsenal?

Is there any chance of 1 of them signing? And how much do you think Tiote would cost?

Cheers,
RedChris
{Ed022's Note - No chance of any to be honest. Perhaps a very very small chance of Tiote.}

03 Jun 2012 17:24:48
A few posters are saying they are unsure if Brendan Rodgers being relatively inexperienced and no DOF will be an issue in bringing in top players.
I can't see it being a problem, the media have jumped all over this. All positive reports as far as I can tell.
Everyone is talking about LFC again and for all the right reasons.
The bitters are in full bitter mode (running scared)
Liverpool fc represents (in my opinion at least) the most exciting project in the EPL and maybe Europe.
Who wouldn't want to play for LFC?
Even if you Take away our history, honours and recent cup runs you have a club with financially supportive owners, a brand new stadium or refurb on the horizon, a manager with aspirations about being the next pep, tiki taka football, a great academy, tixli bergistain (spelling) probably coming.
Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?
Only mercenaries, and that's why we have Chelsea, man city, PSG and anzhi.
Shame about kuyt he's everything a Liverpool player should be off the pitch but we won't miss him on it.
Liverpool supporters are often criticised for looking at the past, but now our future looks just as good.

Let's start looking forward.

MIKEY

03 Jun 2012 17:22:12
kuyt leaving for 1 million is just stupid,kuyt is in the dutch squad and has a few years left.we should have had 3/4 million more,that would help us buying a replacement.
it tells me that rodgers must have other plans and told kuyt he would not be needed.
i agree that we should replace kuyt but he was 1 that i thought we could get some for.
maxi will leave soon and those 2 need too be replaced.
Kuyt you worked your socks off and complained,thanks and good luck in turkey

Didn't we promise him a low transfer in the summer 2012 (now) if he signed a year extension in the summer of 2011 {Ed016's Note - Kuyt wanted more playing time, simple as that really.}

03 Jun 2012 17:18:07
gerrard,henderson,downing,carroll,johnson n now kelly?

all in the england team, do we seriously underrate and under perform ?

No - this is the current level of English footballers. The same collapse has occurred in Scotland.

03 Jun 2012 17:09:38
In:
Sigursson, J Martinez, A Johnson, Dempsey, Boudubouz.
Out:
Kuyt,Maxi,Aquilani,Cole,Spearing.
That's 5 in 5 out, more options and guaranteed top 4. {Ed016's Note - No to Dempsey}

Hi( ED16) Why no to Dempsey
Ste. R. {Ed016's Note - People seem to think because he is American that he will be signed so that we have a bigger profile in the U.S, which is a ridiculous notion as was the one that we would sing Honda to have a bigger profile in Asia. Plus Dempsey is not the quality we need}

03 Jun 2012 17:08:05
Dempsey would be an ideal contribution. Consistent, good passer/shooter and american. Possibly increase a bit of revenue overseas having an american prem player. Apparently wouldn't be expensive either. {Ed016's Note - Stop with the nonsense we are not going to sign Dempsey. Especially not just because he is American. Would be a waste of money}

03 Jun 2012 17:06:23
Feels like the end of an era with Dirk going, well new horizons I hope with some exciting times to come. Good luck Dirk you will always have my utmost respect.

Slimboy {Ed016's Note - Worked extremely hard for the club and played out of position for most of his time here. Good luck to him}

And there's the real story behind Dirk.. played out of position by every manager in his time at Liverpool..and he never complained. When he was played as a striker/poacher he usually scored.

The reason he was played out of position
was because he was bought as a
striker and failed miserably,all these
people who go on he works his socks
do my head in,working hard is a
pre-requisite after that your skill,talent
should come to the fore if you don't
posses any you aint gonna get far,
DIRK KUYT was at best an average

What kind of salary was Dirk Kuyt on at Liverpool
{Ed016's Note - Modest not over the top.}

75,000 a week?

And he gave a very large percentage of it to charity too didn't he?

I'd heard it was 65-75 with a third or a half going to help run his foundation for sports for disabled kids in Holland.

03 Jun 2012 17:13:05
Bye Dirk. Thank you for all your efforts on behalf of Liverpool. You're an absolute hero. Yet again we have let someone go before we should have done (step forward JAR). Great player, nice guy. You'll never walk alone.

apparently liverpool are goin to poland and ukraine for preseason :-) also good luck to kuyt a hard worker with a touch so bad his second was a header or a tackle but gave everything to the club if only others there at the minute then we would be a lot better off today

Just shows how perceptions gather momentum. Defy anyone to look at tapes and say dirk's first touch was bad. Class act on and off the pitch.

03 Jun 2012 16:58:55
hi ed,
so would you agree our top targets would have to be a pair of wingers & a attacking centre mid & possibly a dcm to fight it out with lucas(who by the way i think we have sorley missed for most of the season)?

lfcscott {Ed022's Note - Something like that yes.}

And a striker unless Carroll steps up his game in the euros and pre-season!

Definately a striker

03 Jun 2012 16:58:03
Would you prefer Nathan Dyer (Agree) or Theo Wallcott (Disagree)?

Cheers JY

Or C, neither as they're not good enough

03 Jun 2012 16:48:42
This is what I see as the potential line up for the 2012/13 season:

------------------Reina------------------
Johnson ---- Skrtel ---- Agger ---- Enrique
------------------ Lucas -----------------
-------- Gerrard ---------- Sigurdsson-----
-- De Jong ------- Carroll ------- Suarez---

Subs: Kelly, Coates, Wisdom, Robinson, Henderson, Shelvey, Downing, Bellamy, Clasie

(21 years old) Luuk De Jong - £15 million (FC Twente)
(22 years old) Gylfi Sigurdsson - £7 million (TSG Hoffenheim)
(20 years old) Jordi Clasie - £6 million (Feyenoord)

All 3 are young individuals that already stake a strong claim for there positions in their respective teams, they all have potential and would be great assets to the squad.

Cheers
Lee Wickham JFT96 YNWA

I'd bring De Jong into the middle, bench Carroll and sign Mertens to play on the wing instead. We are in need of natural wingers and we haven't addressed this in the last few seasons!

RDR

I couldn't agree more with that line, it's what i and i assume many fans would like to see.

I think we need to start getting real wingers not botch jobs

03 Jun 2012 16:48:13
In
A.Johnson 14m
Gylfi Siggurdson 7m
Joe Allen 3m
Didier Drogba Free
Michael Owen free

Dirk Kuyt ( done deal)
Maxi 3m

Owen? Just LOL. And Drogba? LOL, never coming.

I have always wondered why we don't move Johnson up to right wing and play Kelly right back? Just as our wingers were terrible last season and Johnson seemed always up for running and trying a cheeky shot, plus his crossing was miles better than Kuyt or Downings was. Is there a reason we don't do this? Just to put my mind at rest . {Ed022's Note - Because Johnson doesn't want to as it would affect his England Career.}

Who cares what he wants, even that rat Mascherano played wherever he was told to and at least he was a top quality player. He should have def been playing on the right, at least to try it out.

Sorry Ed022, I know you've had people talk about this before, but is that the entire reason Johnson isn't used as a winger? Because he doesn't want to? I'm sure I read something is messed up with his contract or something?

Any clarity would be appreciated!
Thanks, Ell.

Plus Kelly's a centre half, he's not a right back.

Ozone

Best I've ever seen Johnson play was when he did that stint as left-back. He was great in that position.

03 Jun 2012 16:32:28
liverpool may be looking at a host of players with only one year left on their contracts

C.Dempsey £4m - £6m
G.dos Santos / £4m
T.Walcott / £8m - £10m
J.Vargas/ £4m - £6m
as well as
G.Sigurdsson £7m
L.de Jong £13m

03 Jun 2012 16:29:41
..........................Reina............................
..............Skrtel..............Agger..................
..........................Lucas............................
Johnson.........................................Enrique
...........Siggurdson.........Gerrard................
..............................................................
......Dos Santos......................Suarez..........
..........................Carroll...........................

Just those 2 additions drastically improve our first team IMO. I expect more additions, maybe afellay, De Jong and we could do with a technically sound left back to suit the 'tiki taka' style. I know its unlikely but i really hope Rodgers can persuade Aquilani to stay, he would be a revelation in that advanced midfield role

Dos Santos wouldn't remotely improve us, he spends more time in clubs than on the training ground.

I agree with Sigurdsson but would prefer almost anyone to Dos Santos. Another striker in De Jong or Dempsey would help and a back up defensive midfielder too.

Papa G

Munian and Ramirez

Dos Santos would improve our team immensely - he has more ability in his fingernails than Kuyt has in his entire body.

If he turned up pissed he'd be an improvement on Kuyt on the right.

If Rodgers can get him to knuckle down - he would be one of the greatest players in the league - I have no doubt about that whatsoever.

He would also be relatively cheap to buy - he would be a realistic target - I struggle to think of many better (realistic & affordable) options.

It's not his fault that Harry Redknapp is an idiot.

BJH YNWA (been saying to get him for some time now - this isn't 'MOTD fever' - I gather he scored against Brazil - and BR targetted him for Swansea - so his name will crop up here - I didn't see the goal, I already know how good he is). {Ed001's Note - it is his fault that he is not as good as you are making out, do you ever watch him play? Your post is so so wrong it is laughable. He is extremely average. And it clearly is MOTD fever, because anyone who has watched him play for 90 minutes would know he can't be bothered.}

03 Jun 2012 16:28:13
really think maxi should be kept.. just for 1 more season. i personally think the guy is underrated. despite his age, i think he could really adapt well to rogers' tactics. he could score 10-15goals next season if played regularly. just feel whoever gets him will get an absolute bargain.. as we wont sell him for much, if anything at all. ed, how long has he left on his contract? or is it more of a wage issue?

ryan belfast ynwa {Ed022's Note - He has one year left I believe.}

Maxi's problem is that he's very anonymous apart from popping up with a goal. If he scores great, if he doesn't it's like playing with 10 and a half men instead of 11.

You could have worse squad options, but he shouldn't be near the first XI.

Eds just wondering if you have any inside info on any pre-season friendlies in addition to those taking place in the USA.

Any over here, or anywhere else? Must be some more being added, three isn't very many. Usually around 5 or 6 at the least.

03 Jun 2012 15:42:51
hi eds, iv not seen much of luuk de jong, i was just wondering how good is he and are we likely to sign him and if so what sort of valuation fo fc twente have of him?
also is a move for demba ba a possibility?and if you were pushed into it who are the three players we are most likely to sign (i know the window is not properly opened and its too early to be sure of anything) {Ed022's Note - Www.player-profiles.co.uk - there is a profile on De Jong.}

03 Jun 2012 16:20:10
It really worries me when I see things saying Dempsey and Sigurdsson are our top targets! If these two mid table players are the players we have identified as our TOP TARGETS, then we really are going to some no where near top four! This is exactly what i feared when Rodgers arrived, hopefully its just paper talk because we really need to be signed better quality than this (not saying their poor, but they wont really be a great improvement on what we have already.

Pete

Dempsey for me was the best player
in the premier last season.

Mighty reds

Did Dempsey not score 21 goals
If he could do that for us I'd b happy

Rodgers philisopy is that "if the other team can't get the ball, they can't score" He's building a team to play the tiki-taka and for once we're not building a team around one player.

BACK THE MANAGER AND THE CLUB.

RenegadeRed

Two days into the job and you are on his case already. You are not a real Liverpool fan. {Ed016's Note - all these targets you hear, well half of them are BS aren't they. No Dempsey why do we need Sigurdsson?}

Of course they would. Do you not watch the rest of the teams play in the premier league?

There are some great players that play for other teams.

Haven't we already done this enough times though? See players play 'brilliantly' for the likes of swansea, sunderland, blackpool etc and then move to bigger clubs and play poorly (adam, henderson, Carroll, downing for us). How can you say i'm not a real Liverpool fan just because I dont rate a particular players, that is just a stupid thing to say. All i'm saying is that I feel these players will come in a not be able to cope with the big leap, hence why you aren't seeing the likes the big teams bidding for them, aren't we looking to be on the same levels as them? Signing these players isn't getting us anywhere near their levels.

Pete

Pete

Dempsey has been consistant over a number of years.

Mighty reds {Ed016's Note - 50 goals in 184 games....he only did 25 out of 76 in the MLS that's not the quality of player we should be going for and so I do not believe he will be signing because he is not good enough and he is 29 he probably peaked last season with his 17 goal total up from 12 the season before and 7 the season before that. }

03 Jun 2012 16:19:50
The tiki taka article on the LFC website is indeed brilliant and clears the waters a lot about Brendan rogers and what he is going to try and achieve at Liverpool.
He will need a good couple of years to really get into the swing of things though. We have a few players that will fit in brilliantly, reina, Kelly, Johnson, Enrique, Suarez.
But also a few players that will have to adapt and change aspects of their game, agger, skrtle, Carroll, gerrard and downing.
It's going to be very interesting watching this team grow.
We might see the best of reina under rodgers as well as I am sure he will relish playing tiki taka again.

MIKEY

I think hendo, lucas and maxi can play this way too.
derryred

Agree with hendo although I think he will have less playing time next season.
Lucas will be our most important player in this playing style as long as he returns to form after his injury.
Agree maxi can play this style I just see him leaving soon. His wages are too high.

MIKEY

03 Jun 2012 15:58:06
Note to the eds,

You guys(eds) make out that walcott a terrible player but he must of had a combined 20 plus goals and assists this year. No liverpool player even comes close. I think it would be a good signing.

Pistol pete {Ed001's Note - I prefer to watch players, rather than look at stats, they tell you only half the story. How many missed chances were in there? How many times did he sky a good crossing opportunity? How many times did he waste possession? There are hundreds of things involved in a team game, creating the opportunity to get an assist or goal is just as important.}

Theres more to football than stats mate.

03 Jun 2012 15:56:50
I know it's not too realistic but I would love Belhanda as our future playmaker. His ego isn't through the roof like Hazard's but he still has a confident vibe to him which is always positive. He also seems to pick out the key pass or assist rather than always going for glory all the time.

Fantastic potential.

hi ed surely if br is to turn the club around he needs to get rid of a minimum of 6 players and raise some cash for better players i really hope br doesnt go through this pre season looking at players that couldn't do it last season and although he worked with joe cole at chelsea he just isnt the answer for liverpools rivival also aquilani has not love for the club the last couple of years he just said he didnt want to go back to liverpool ?these are players i think we should move on;

joe cole no pace to go by players
aquilani doesnt want to be with us
adam terrible season could not make the grade
spearing 24 never good enough

Once again another tournament where England depend of Liverpool. they are going to make Brendan Rodgers' first season at Liverpool very tough. I hate the FA.

Why do you think that way. our player going to take part a big turnament and that can boost thier confident. Hendo Kelly all are very young player and will learn so much from it.

Hi, not a rumour just a question. Does the 12 month swansea transfer agreement work both ways? What if any of the swansea players wanted to follow BR and have there agents try to engineers a move behund the scene? Would they have to hand in a transfer request.. I know it means nothing as Liverpool may not be interested in any swans players anyway, im just realy interested by the agreement. Thanks eds love this site. {Ed001's Note - it would depend on the terms of the agreement, but I would assume that would be blocked or they would risk players being tapped up to hand in a transfer request.}

03 Jun 2012 15:42:14
why is everyone getting so excited about Sigurdson. He's played for Reading, swansea, hoffenheim, and been loaned to the likes of crewe; how do any of those teams show he is the type of quality we require at Liverpool, he's also 22 years old which isn't really that young too be honest. I just feel that he will be similar to henderson. We really could do much better in that position, where we need some real quality and flair, I just feel he'll come in a be another very average player to add to our centre midfield to go with adam, henderson and spearing. For me we need an attacking midfielder similar to Suarez, someone who makes the crowd think 'wow' as he dribbles past multiple players with trickery, i dont think sigurdsson is that type of player, in fact i know he isn't. Please lets move for someone else, because I know if we sign him we wont be buying other players in that position, if we are able to get both then great, but we can't rely on him to provide the flair we desperatley need in central midfield.

Jay

How the hell can you mention Spearing in the same sentence as Henderson. Maybe we will see how good Henderson is now he may get played in the position he was bought for.

John B

I dont think you understand how rodgers system works sir. we dont need a player that can dribble through 5 defenders

You worried about your place in the side. Jay?

BigBadBen {Ed016's Note - lol}

He will fit in perfectly to the system Brendan Rodgers wants, I think that's the point.

03 Jun 2012 15:30:51
Players I'd like to see:

Boudabouz, a skilfully winger in my opinion with plenty of pace.
And Ramirez in this section, pace along the width as well as skill.

Clasie, quality distributor of the ball and very good holding midfielder as well. Which would really benefit us, to hold midfield but mainly to distribute some quality defence splitting passes to Gerrard, Suarez, Carrol or even switch direct to wings. Would work brilliantly with Rodgers philosophy. Negative point is its the Dutch league but he looks promising

Sigurdssen, has been top for Swansea in his loan spell. Could also benefit us, seems to be at the right place at the right time to finish it off! As far as I remember in the season just gone, there was never a Liverpool player charging into the box or challenging to get on to rebounds or crosses going in. There was no movement, just so static

Luuk de jong, also could be a good goal threat. He has smashed a lot of goals in however it is the Dutch league, where kuyt did the same

But I'm sure Rodgers knows exactly who he wants and who will suit his style of play & I hope he does well

03 Jun 2012 15:28:58
hey eds,
I rated Rodgers well before he signed with Liverpool, and what he did with Swansea was incredible. I believe this was the best possible pick up for the club, I have so much respect for him, as he has respect for all of his players and other players. I hope he does well at Liverpool, because he is a fine coach with a lot of ability. Deserved a move to such a prestigious club! With a few summer signings, I reckon this could officially be the rejuvination the club needed!

Dumbass! For all kuyt has done for this club do you not think he deserves to go to the club he wants regardless of the money. Kuyt is happy and were happy to have him off the wage bill.

Do you think Rodgers had any say in the sale of Kuyt? or was it done before he signed on as manager?

I'd say he would have been happy for him to go. frees up big wages and gets rid of someone that passes the ball into the receiving players b****cks, causing them to take extra touches to control the ball and resulting in them getting closed down and tackled. doesnt really fit the pass and move philosophy.

With kuyt going, and the fact we were looking to sign a forward anyway, does it now mean we're likely to see 2 strikers coming in? Or even more if Suarez leaves? Are we likely to look again at luc costaignos?

03 Jun 2012 15:02:33
I'd now put money on Suarez leaving. Kuyt was a huge reason for his coming. One of his best friends has left and I wouldn't look against him leaving either should the money come in.

Redheart. {Ed005's Note - If a player comes here just for individuals and not the chance to play for one of the world's biggest clubs then I don't want him here anyway.}

First and Foremost… Welcome Brendon…. Whatever choice the board have made the Liverpool supports will walk with you…..

As for the plebs that let the King, This Great Club and their Team Mates down so obviously its time you were shown the door and KICKED out of our beloved club…. Step forward Pleb Downing – £20m of s**te, no goals, no assists and little to no effort, Step forward Pleb Henderson… Rare goal or two, rate assist or two, no ability, effort or desire, Step forward Pleb Adam… No abiity to hold the ball, you can't and never will pass the ball as well as Alonsa, can't tackle and little effort…. Sorry to say but Spearing (100% effort) nominal ability and Carragher (100% effort but now too old) its time for you to step aside….

PORK CHOP

Henderson can be a great player given the time he needs, Adam can be a good squad player. I would keep spearing as a back up option should Lucas become injured again, carra still has a year if used very sparingly.
Downing I suspect has little time left at the club, his style of football is incompatible with Rodgers. I still expect him to get another year unless a good offer comes in though.

MIKEY {Ed016's Note - Spearing wasn't good enough as a back up last year.}

No mention of The Pleb Suarez who let Kenny down more than any other player
and got banned for 10 games and then refused to shake hands after saying he would!!!
But I guess you forgot to mention him
Due to the amount of wet dreams you had thinking about him

Lyndon

Brendan Rodgers will turn Andy Carroll into Fernando LLorente. THATS how he will fit into our system.

Look at how effective Danny Graham was at drawing away defenders for Swansea. And lets not forget lots of possesion = Lots of Free Kicks and Corners.

Gh*LFC

What happens if Carroll turns Llorente in to Rodgers?

Mighty reds

03 Jun 2012 14:06:12
hi eds, just curious to know but do you expect BR to bring in the main players he wants before the euros as he liked to get his deals done reasonably early at swansea (Danny Graham) or do you expect him to wait until after the euros so he can see them in action.
Thanks and great site.
YNWA {Ed001's Note - impossible to say, I am sure he would prefer to get business done early, to give himself more time to work with the players in pre-season. But it might not be possible.}

03 Jun 2012 13:57:36
Hi ed's quick question,

Will the scouts reccomend every player that they have scouted when Kenny was there or will they only reccomend players who they have scouted and know will fit in with Rodgers' system..

Cheers

Greg. {Ed001's Note - they would recommend players they feel fits into Rodgers' system.}

Dirk kuyt as good as he may be,
Hit every branch on the ugly tree ...

Loved him as a player and always came across as a good guy. scored some memorable goals in some of the biggest games, and who could forget the hattrik against the mancs!!

The flying Dutchman will never walk alone!!

Mully LFC

Why have ago at the way he looks?
He did well for us. A nice man that will be missed. Go luck kuyt hope it all goes well.
We need to replace him though, we can't keep letting players go without replacing with somebody better.
Would say 1million euro was a little on the cheap side, I think we could have got 3 million for him.
Paul the red

I think if he had more pace he could have been a top player not just a good one

03 Jun 2012 14:52:39
Dirk Has Gone, i know he loved the club and fair play to him. but i hate fans who will blindly insist he was a top player because he loved the club, be a realist he was an awful player who gave the ball away constantly, has missed easier chances than Stuart 'barn door' Barlow and was at Liverpool for three seasons longer than he should have been. hopefully now we can look to players who have some quality in keeping hold of the ball, can beat a defender and having an end product.
cobra

Awful seems harsh, he was decent but a bit of a headless chicken, scored some big goals for us and continued that last season. His time was up but we obviously need to replace. Been a good servant and I hope he a massive success, scores loads of goals.....then next season you will all be on this site questioning why we sold him. The fickle world of being a football fan!
Fowleris

Show a bit of class cobra mate. We all know he wasn't a 'top class' footballer. But his CV, for our club is pretty impressive.

Scored over 50 PL goals, playing predominantly at RW.

Scored winning pen against Chelsea in the semi of the CL.

Scored a magnificent 3 yard hattrick against the Manc.

Scored an extra time winner to qualify us for the CL group stage.

Scored our 2nd in the Carling Cup final, this year.

Scored numerous pens/goals against the Toffees.

Scored 71 goals for us altogether. Again not bad as he played mostly on the right.

If i've missed any cobra mate. Feel free to correct me, thanks.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

He was a top player cos he worked his arse off, not many players are like that these days

Awful player?? Seriously mate you are blind. When you look at football and footballers like it or not the best attribute to have over a long season is fitness (hence why german sides are often very good, as very fit) and Kuyt ran his legs off, also scored some very important goals for us!

03 Jun 2012 14:52:32
Dirk Kuyt moving to Fenerbahce. Thanks for you great service in a red shirt, your never say due attitude and the important goals you scored. You may not have been the most skilful player to pull on the red shirt but the effort you put in has not been bettered by many. You were a great example to any young footballer for your work rate. Good luck in the future YNWA

All can say is good luck to lad, what a guy and what a player for us his effort on the pitch was a pleasure to watch.

Good Luck Dirk! YNWA

Good Luck to Dirk Kuyt at Fenerbahce. Always gave 100%, will always remember his hat trick against Man Utd, and him scoring the winning penalty against Chelsea in 2007.

Jimbo.

03 Jun 2012 14:37:31
Just want to say a massive 'good luck' to dirk. You have been a fantastic servant to the club and scored some crucial massive goals. You are always welcome back with the kop singing your name.

03 Jun 2012 14:29:31
So Kuyt has gone!

Even though he wasn't the best, technically, he always gave his all and scored some very important goals!!

Let's give him a huge thank you, and wish him all the best!!

The calibre of the man is that a large percentage of his wages went directly to charity!

A true LFC legend!

Thank you Dirk.

Hope he wins the Champions League with them next season.

thats one player off the wage bill. who'll be next??

Show some respect, kuyt is a liverpool legend

What a rubbish post it is the right decision by the club he as been poor this season. I am glad he is off the wage bill but I respect what he as done for the club.

Carragher , he gets paid more and does less

Why is he a Legend!! Please enlighten me
Or do you just band the word about like

03 Jun 2012 14:26:40
Anyone know roughly what salary Super Dirk was on?

Cheers JY

Probably around 60k I would have thought. Maybe the Ed will know?

Burnsy {Ed001's Note - this is when I miss my notes, I had his salary listed in them, it was a bit higher if I remember rightly, but defo below 100k.}

About 60k I think.
Wasn't he giving about 50% of that to charity as well?

MIKEY {Ed001's Note - yes something like that, it was certainly around the 50% mark, he is a good lad Kuyt.}

I think that he was on around 70k a week if I remember correctly.
Scouse_Pride

Roughly 70k p/w

Well he said he coudlnt go to feyenoord as he couldnt take an 80% pay cut, and yet feyenoord said they offered him £20,000 a week

About 45K I think I read.
KJS

People may scoff,but FM12 was usually quite accurate in-terms of contracts.Dirk was on £85k per week.Aurelio was on £25k.Thats the best part of £6m a year saved already.

Somewhere in the region of 80k I've been told.

Fair play to Dirk.
I didn't know he gave 50% of his wages to charity, what a top bloke.

There's a great article on the LFC site at the moment explaining tiki-taka, the 7 zones of players and their individual roles. Kuyt, Carroll and Downing are the obvious ones that don't fit into the style, they just don't have the touch required to do their required roles. I think Henderson will come alive under Rodgers though. He has the technical ability and think he'll benefit from having a few set roles rather than the 'Go out there, run about and impress' way of thinking.

-Shane.

Interesting article and I do hope BR manages to get the team playing this style.

Absolutely love and admire Dirk Kuyt. He wasn't blessed with pace or skill but he was always a big player, for the big occasions. And he scored a fair amount of goals, especially in big games. He always, always gave us 100% in a red shirt.

You'll Never Walk Alone, Dirk. Good luck in Turkey.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

The Hat-trick v Utd could watch that game over and over he was a brilliant servant to our club!

Very well said Blair, sad to see him go but good luck to him, he always gave 1000%

On the whole I agree Blair. He has been a great servant to the club. I was a bit disappointed with him at the latter end of this season having a go at Kenny after Carling Cup Final and in the press recently though...lost a bit of respect I had for him.
However I do wish him well. I am sure he realised his days were numbered here and has had the sense to get himself a decent deal. Good luck Dirk!
KJS

The winning penalty against Chelsea, in the semi of the CL, Skurks mate. Or his winning goals/pens against the Toffees are some of the great memories, he's left us with.

I personally think that his extra time goal against Standard Liege in the qualifying round of they CL. Is up there with any of his big goals, he scored for us.

Top bloke.

Yea agree Blair but i'm always happier when we beat the Mancs and the manner we did that day was superb.

I believe that if Henderson regains his confidence,he along with Carroll have a fine future at anfield. I believe that Adam and downing will most likely get another season to prove themselves but I honestly don't see them in our long term plans'. Also if reina was' to leave,I believe vorm would be an excellent replacement and the only player I would be satisfied if we purchased from swansea. Opinions as always welcome'

Melbourne'

Totally agree and Vorm is the only player i would want from Swansea also.
Skurks

To be fair mate i dont think henderson is good at all. all the calls on here for ericksen type players etc, henderson is nowere near that class, get sigurdson n loan henderson to swansea . we far better quality in midfield than we had last yr, suarez would grap 30 goals if he hadnt got to drop in and do it all,
5gold stars

Vorm for reina would be a good shout, especially if we could get £15-20m for pepe

03 Jun 2012 14:04:34
I was impressed with Mertens and Dembele yesterday.

Hazard - not sure if he's worth 35mill but has a nice touch. Hope he enjoyed that game as that's what he'll typically face week-in-week out in the premiership.

I believe spurs talking to both players even though they have stated modric and bale will not be leaving, those two along with sandro, parker, huddlestone, livermore and lennon will stay,

03 Jun 2012 14:02:28
I was just thinking that we can sort of compare Carroll with Graham. Graham doesn't have the best trickery, pace and stuff like, nor does Carroll, but obviously Carroll is better and he can play a good pass and probably overall better than Graham at every thing a striker needs.

I think BR has no intentions what so ever of selling Carroll and we will have options of playing, like round there defense like BR did last season and we can still get some balls into the box for Carroll to attack.

Can see it being a good year next year!

03 Jun 2012 13:44:36

We may play 4 -3 -3 next season
a good manager never favours a formation. he comes up with a formation suiting to the players he has or depending on it can hurt the opponent team. if we if we bring a versatile striker like Luuk dejong who is not as direct as Caroll, we may end playing this formation

Kelly/Johnson ---- Skrtel ---- Agger ---- Enrique/Vergas
---- --------- Lucas -------------------
---------- Gerrard -------- Ramirez-------
----- Affellay ---- Dejong ------- Suarez

your thoughts ?

miccmak

------------------------Reina-------------------------
Kelly/Johnson ---- Skrtel ---- Agger ---- Enrique/Vargas
----------------------- Lucas ------------------------
------------- Gerrard ---------- Sigurdsson------------
----- De Jong ---------- Carroll --------- Suarez-------

Good team mate.

Both are amazing teams. If that happened, then we are in with a chance of anything.

The defence in those teams is solid, the midfield good both defensively, and going forward, and the front 3 could be true class.

Burnsy

I love that second team and it's quite likely.. Add elm and maybe another center back to the squad and top 4 would be a sincere possibility
ShaneK Lfc

I now what you mean about formations but in the modern game doesn't it depend very much on what is happening on the pitch at any given time?

I'm sure John Barnes , in the recent interview on LFC website, said that teams like Bareclona will go through 100s of scenarios that could happen on a pitch and work through what each player is supposed to be doing... how does a formation work with that?

The second team lacks wingers, we have been crying out for a pacey winger for years and still haven't addressed it, a winger is a priority!

Reina

Kelly Skrtel Agger Vargas

Gerrard Lucas Elm

Suarez De Jong Affelay

THIS IS LIVERPOOL NOT SOME LOWER CLASS LIKE GRIMSBY TOWN IF WE WANT CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND WIN TITLES WE CANT BUY LOW CLASS PLAYERS SIMPLE

Arrogance is never a good look.

A lot of the greatest players ever have come from working class backgrounds, our very own gerrard for instance

Rodgers teams are "teams" based on being a unit and sticking together - a bit like Maximus and the gladiators when they take on the chariots and sh1t and form a shell. If one component doesnt work it will fall down but Rodgers will drill it in to them time and time again how to play his style! Come on!

Because you put that in capitals, you must be right.

DID,NT a certain mr shankly join liverpool from grimsby. moron

Would like to pose a question, would the people here be happy if we got say 35mil for Suarez and then maybe spent 15 on combined l.dejong and n.Powell I'm personally undecided but do think it is important that Liverpool have as close to a net spend of 0 as possible and this would certainly go along way.. Eds any input? Btw agree if you like disagree if you don't, any comments appreciated.
ShaneK Lfc

{Ed006's Note - I want Suarez to stay.}

Is Suarez more trouble than he is worth though. I want him to stay but there is a part of me that feels bitter that he was quite probably one big reason for Kenny going and yet i get feeling he wouldn't feel the least bit of bad about leaving us or feel responsible or that he owes Kenny a thing

I really hope he will stay, but I rarely get what I want when it comes to football.

There is not much talk about Adam Johnson who is a class winger who hasn't featured much for City in the second half of the season...would be a great addition and not too expensive...any thoughts?

{Ed006's Note - Would cost about £20m. We wont sign him.}

Not so sure he would cost £20m. That was his supposed value in the January we signed Carroll and Suarez but he hasn't played much since.

I think he could be bought for £10-15m.... well within our price range.

{Ed006's Note - Do you think that he would want to join us though? Just a thought...}

To expensive for liverpool & dont think he wants to leave.

I think he would love to come.. I think he would jump at the chance for near guaranteed first team football he won't play at all for city next season.

03 Jun 2012 12:28:01
well, in my opinion. i think liverpool should cut their losses with the likes of downing, adam etc. rodgers should be given a decent war chest to bring in the maybe 1,2, 3 or 4 additions he said is needed.
we need to be quick and brutal or we are going to miss out on transfers. still cant beleive shaqiri went to bayern for around 12 mill or something like that, thats 8 mill less than downing, hes 20 years old and a million times better.
anyway i think:
out:

downing
adam
maxi
kuyt
spearing
joe cole
aquilani

in (who i think we should try for)

younes belhanda
mathieu valbuena
jordy clasie
kevin strootman
de jong
soldado
hoilett
dempsey

obviously not all of them but at least 4 of these players would be ideal.
any possibilities there eds?

{Ed006's Note - I would take the last 4 on your list.}

Whers musa dembele, I sow him play yesterday this its wot Liverpool need, aquilani, Adam Johnson, affelay, and jackson Martinez. who is 1 good finisher

{Ed006's Note - Dembele plays for Fulham...}

Gerrard owned Debele yesterday.

03 Jun 2012 12:18:52
Dempsey wants Champions league football - he'll join Chelsea or Arsenal. I'm a realistic Liverpool fan, we need to acknowledge that finishing in the top 6 is our aim for 2012/13.

Mate, winning the bloody title is our minimum aim

Top 6 ain't good enough for LFC no matter who the manager is.

I think we can get top 4 but man city, chelsea will finish above and totters likely too
Personally i think Man u may not be as top 2 this year and think they will reach 3 or 4th but hopefully if not and im wrong about man u we can pick off totters and arsenal

Realism is our current target. Rome won't be built in a season. Top 4 is a target and a realistic ambition but anyone who thinks we can win the title next yr is deluded.

Hi I have a question for Macca! Do you have any info on the Suarez situation, is he likely to leave the club? And if so who are the likely replacements ?

Thanks

R@

03 Jun 2012 11:29:13
So Suarez isn't a goalscorer? And didn't score double figure goals for us? So who would you have? Someone who hasn't proved themselves in the prem? Or just another overrated English player! Suarez was out best player all season, how does it make sense to replace him? We ain't gonna get a messi or van persie so why?

Louis wasn't proven in the pl before he came to us! if rodgers see's potential in a player even from the lower leagues he will have done his homework no doubt about it, we have to trust guys, give it time, we're not chelsea.

03 Jun 2012 11:46:00
the fact that hoffenheim don't deem sigurdsson good enough for them and were so willing to loan him out to a small club like swansea would suggest that maybe he isn't quite the standard of player liverpool should be looking at.

Once he gets the security of of a permanent deal, his performance levels will drop significantly

Mate, he won their player of the season award in his first year there. They probably just want to improve his physique and strength.

03 Jun 2012 11:36:35
it looks nailed on that Sigurdsson will be a red after br comments in todays telegraph.i think it will prove one way or another weather or not we are mugs in paying over the odds. Hoffenheim agreed a 6.8 million deal with the swans,not a penny more now that he is going to the reds instead.

But Aquilani, for all his public quotes, has no interest in Liverpool and English football, but we might end up stuck with him anyway. Just read the 'Rodgers, Barca and 'Tiki Taka'' article on the official liverpool site... I was just wondering were our current group of players would fit into Rodgers system (which is very impressive). And in particular the holding midfielder/3rd centre back position. In the system this player is required to have 90%+ pass completion. Lucas is a brilliant holding midfielder but perhaps not the best passer of the ball under pressure situations, so my thought was to wether Rodgers will use him in the other midfield position as a box to box midfielder, he certainly has that in him. What are your thoughts? P.S. Siggurdson would be a quality addition to the squad

Cheers

JPW

We don't have the wide men for this system but I lucus would be perfect for that role

Leon Britton does it at Swansea but only plays backwards and sidawards

Its written that the player in zone 3 prefers is a let-off-pressure-outlet and I think Lucas is good at holding his own in a physical tussle and then just playing it along to someone like Agger (technical CB/libero) or Gerrard. If you look at Xavi's quote "I get the ball, I pass..". Nothing spectacular. There's only one Xabi Alonso really. So I think he'll do a good enough job in zone 3 as described by Rodgers!
sama491

Yes was wondering that myself about Lucas after reading the article, although his ball retention ability has come on in recent years and with good coaching in terms of this role and what it means he can be given the confidence to do it well. Cant see him further up the pitch receiving the ball with his back to goal think he likes to face the play too much. Ideal for Gerrard and Sigurdson though!

hi eds all reds firstly , i think , brendan rogers coukd be a fantastic liverpool manager . as another poster said earlier , if he can walk the walk , as he can talk the talk , we are going to do fine. as for who we can attract to the club , in terms of players , im a bit more worried. i hate to say it , but , at the moment , we are in the second set of five clubs in the epl. so , as much as it pains me to say it , we will only get players who arent going to the top five, if we were prepared to pay massive wages , like man city did , to get the top players in , we"d stand a chance of getting them , money , with lfc , would talk , even without cl . but , without either , we will get , whoever isnt taken by the other five. this , i have to say , may be a good thing . we could , get very good players in , who want to build something , not just jump on the back of previous success. im sure our new "gaffer" can pluck these players out of the "best of the rest". i wish our new boss the very best of everything . godbless 96 all reds . steviep62.

Eds one of the lads was saying that overall last season under kenny we had more possession , completed passes , corners and shots on target than Swansea any ideas if this is true ?
{Ed001's Note - I don't really take much notice of stats, but I read somewhere that Swansea had the most possession last season, so, if that is true, then no your mate is wrong. I would expect corners and shots to be higher for Liverpool than Swansea anyway, it is hardly something to be impressed by!}

Man city had the most possession swansea were second we were fifth it was on sky i believe we had more shots and corners like ed said swansea had more possession than man u but didn't finish above them

Good morning all,

Before I start I would like to add that i'm Welsh but I have always supported England and have always watched them when playing. But was I the only person watching yesterday who rather than sit and enjoy the game was thinking for the whole 90mins thank god hes not our manager anymore. The exact same bank of 4 defenders with a bank of 4 midfielders right on top of them, playing to stop the other team and just hoping to nick a goal somewhere along the line. We (LFC) as a group of fans were slated for our treatment of the great RH, with the media stating we just didn't give him a chance. Lets see how the nation feels about him if he keeps setting his teams out like that. Couldn't help but have a chuckle at the fact the FA are in the process of releasing new coaching guidelines with regards to youngsters and trying to create players with confidence and ability on the ball, then they hire a manager who goes against every new directive they've just told the whole country to follow.

Also, welcome to Anfield Brendan. Very happy with that appointment. I think he is just what we need and I think the project that is just begining at LFC is just what he needs.

Tommy Walsh

Totally agree Tommy, on the Liverpool website this morning there is a great piece about the 'Tiki-Taka' style of football Brendan Rodgers likes to implement which is very much the Barcelona style, if he is successful in getting us playing this way we are going to be a very good side in the coming years and I for one am getting excited about the possibilities.

Sigurdson is another Adam. Bug fish in a small stinking pond

Cp

Sigurdsson, is only half the player Adam is, literally!

Yeah bet you were saying that about Papiss Cisse who was a complete unknown just banged in goals in a more than crap league yet he came he saw and powered in more goal of the season candidates than anyone in history and all that in half a season.
Personally I like Adam the only part of his game I dont like is his defensive ability very prone to lunging in very dangerous areas.But we have an anchor in Lucas and Gerrard but would rather see Lucas given the Gerrard role as I believe he has the ability to be a top AM.

Kopping a feel
(By the way I learnt from my mistakes about slating Lucas lets hope we are not repeating history with Adam).

Adam was a championship player whereas lucas was young, outstanding brazilian international who needed time to adapt

Adam was a championship player whereas lucas was young, outstanding brazilian international who needed time to adapt

Pipe down your just a muppet bet you were slating Lucas coz you knew best now your doing the same thing probably also one of em who seems to run every manager out of the city the second they lose a game.
Give him a chance he was massive at Blackpool in the prem just because he is in a lower div does not mean the game is not played the same way.
Again had you heard of half of Newcastles squad before they were bought yet they seem to do alright so crawl back under your rock you know f*ck all.

What's a "bug fish"?

A "bug fish" or correctly pronounced "bug fush" is a big fish from New Zealand.

I didnt know alot about rodgers when he was given the job ,but he seems like he knows what he is talking about now were do you think we need to strengthen.we havnt got much cash available for a twenty million pound player and no champions lge will hinder us from signing proven stars.i would take a punt on gabby agbogalahor as a extra forward id say we would get him for 7-9million pace to burn can play either flank or upfront.defence and keeper defo wouldnt change them ,midfield and wingers we could do with and they must have pace.zaha from palace has youth and rodgers would develop him,aquaman is top drawer just hasnt been given a chance and id buy de jong from holland ,sterling needs to be trusted this year with more game time, {Ed001's Note - Agbonlahor? He is so bad the Villa fans regularly boo him!}

Agbonlahor is 90% athlete 10 % skill. if it weren't for his pace he wouldn't be a footballer

Please tell me you are joking!

Will you be satisfied if we sign Gylfi Sigurdsson? I personally think he would be a great addition. We will have a great present/future midfield, when Gerrard hangs the shoes, the 4 of Lucas, Henderson, Shelvey and Sigurdsson will still be young.

PJ

Suso coady to name a couple more

None of them will ever be half as good as gerrard at his peak, so that's not a particularly great plan

We need wide men though like Munian and Ramirez although both actually tend to come inside quite a bit
A top striker should be a priority but I wouldn't mind Lukk de Jong

{Ed006's Note - I would love Muniain but can't see us affording him really. I think there are better options that De Jong.}

What if he was suarezs replacement ed? then we could afford him {Ed002's Note - Yes, but would he be interested?}

03 Jun 2012 09:45:46
Folks, the Away Kit picture released on Empire Of the Lop IS legit. (Official Lfc site just shows solid black kits with nothing on them) The kit IS Black, Standards Chartered and Warrior are in Yellow/Gold, with small grey sections (NOT Blue) under the arms, on the shorts and around the neck area. Best mate works in JJB and he took me in to show me the advertising boards sent from Warrior. And let me tell you, IT LOOKS CLASS.

03 Jun 2012 09:41:18
Heres my only worry. Is BR a big enough manager to attract quality from abroad? Or will we just attract average players from this country !!. Pete {Ed001's Note - the club is big enough for it not to matter.}

Don't worry Pete in a couple of seasons when we become successful playing Tiki Taka football Barcelona style, we will be the choice for Barcelona players wanting to try there hand in the premiership :)

Chris

I don't get it. he attracted sinclair to swansea. just because he hasn't won everything doesn't mean he will not attract big names. honestly do you think if we got guardiola that messi, xavi and iniesta would come here ?
derryred

Roy hodgson persuaded raul meireles

03 Jun 2012 09:35:30
so how close was we when we tried to get hazzard

With respect who cares how close? We will have looked at hundreds of players over the years and many will have been overlooked for various reasons. The fact is he will not be wearing red next year so we move on...

Dirks Engine Room

Not to close there was always going to be a warning.

Mighty reed

I think he was just being scouted by Roy hodgson as well as the rest of the footballing world. I dont think we ever tried signing him.

MIKEY

It doesn't matter how close we were! Anyway if he doesn't want to play for us then we don't want him anywhere near a red shirt. He's got tickets on himself and he is yet unproven in PL....might find it a bit more physical than the french league...then we'll see how good he really is.
Strikes me he is more concerned with the size of his wageslip, so he's more suited to Chelsea (or City)

dont think spending big is always the way look at man u when they bought little hanadez (spelling ) 6 mill an i no hes not getting a game but what a player an you have pappa cissse of newcastle another good buy so you can get a bargain if you look round instead of grabbing the big names the cost you the earth an they wont big wages thanks edd

03 Jun 2012 09:31:56
Can someone please tell me why we want sigardson we have Adam hend gerrard lucus Shelvey and possibly aqua
If I was manager it would be 2 of Munian Ramirez affely and Lukk de Jong or a world class striker

We don't need any more squad players just a couple of top players

Do you call him aqua because he turns to liquid in the tackle?

I think you answered your own question in the list of players (excluding Gerrard) you included!

Only 2 of those are good enough at the moment and Adam is too fat to play rodgers style

03 Jun 2012 09:30:35
Players in: Segurdson 6.8m, Vargas 12m, A.Johnson 17m, J.Martinez 7m,
Players out: Kuyt 3m, Aquilani 4m, Cole 3m, Rodriguez Free, Spearing 4m,

What you recken Eds?
Gary

Javi Martinez- the new world superstar? - 7million?

Maybe put a 2 in front of it, if not even a 3.

Burnsy

Definately no

You think we'll get 4m for Spearong when you're saying Cole will go for 3m?? If Maxi is going for Free then we'll be paying a team to take Spearing!

I think maxi will suit rodgers' play to the ground. but he will still probobly be moved on as he wants first team football
derryred

Burnsy, I am sure he meant Jackson Martinez.

BthekingB

Lol Jackson Martinez.

Just realized before I saw the other comments he meant Jackson not Javi,

eds, do you think that because of all thats going on in Italy at the momant that a lot of the players would want to leave the league? If so do you think there could be a few bargains!
wildwelshman {Ed001's Note - it doesn't really affect the players, they still get paid huge amounts, maybe one or two will have to be sold because of a downturn in gates. Unless they 'just happen to win' the Euros like they did the World Cup during the Calciopoli scandal, which rescued football over there. Thinking about it, I am going down the bookies to put money on Italy to win it, not that I am in any way suggesting it might be fixed.....honest....}

Hey ed can you see any teams getting relegated or massive points reductions like we saw last time?
It's a shame Italian football has so many problems, it could be a really good game over there.

MIKEY {Ed001's Note - yes, I can see huge penalties being meted out and then reduced even massively on appeal to being little more than a slap on the wrist. Then it will continue on as always, corruption being rife. Italian football is dire to watch and a complete shambles off the pitch, their fans are a disgrace too. Club fans, I mean, not the Italy ones. The corruption in the game has led to the Ultras being allowed to control most of the fans. It needs to be ripped apart and to start again, clean.}

Eds Marin has signed pre contract agreement with chelsea but looking at the player that they are buying Hulk,hazard who are wingers in my opinion he wont be assured a place in starting XI so can he sign for any other club(i mean liverpool ;) ) considering the pre contract agreement

SDM {Ed001's Note - technically he can, in reality it is unlikely to happen.}

Does Liverpool want to be sloppy seconds to chelsea though?

MIKEY {Ed002's Note - Like Brendan Rodgers Mikey?}

03 Jun 2012 08:53:21
i hope that cole and aquilani do sit down with BR and he can persuade them to give the club a proper chance as i think both players would suit the way BR wants to play

I can see Cole staying, not Aqualani; do think some of the technically gifted lads maybe given a chance, Suso etc. The reserves and U18's have been utilising a similar style of play which focusses on possession. Might be a good opportunity for some of the young lads.

Evo YNWA

They were both s**t at liverpool regardless of their fifa rating. honestly. big wages, glass knees and never gives it simple always went for the bulls eye pass.

Ed 005!! Small club?? Pathetic!
Your club is a shambles!!
You lot use to call the carling cup the worthless cup now it's a trophy!!
If that's what 120 million gets you I would rather leave it! As for the league it speaks for its self!! Stop living in the past it's getting boring even ted Rodgers is banging on about it now!! Give it six months you will all be calling for comedy king Kenny back!! :)
Your recent managers.... Have you heard about the Englishman, Irish man and scots man?? Makes sense now!

Tree Blue {Ed001's Note - aye, but your Scotsman can't even win a trophy, so I really don't know what you are banging on about. You do realise Moyes would love to life any kind of Mickey Mouse trophy, just so he could win something, don't you?}

Ye lost ye last three cup finals and a 7-1 aggregate to boot.

Everton have always been a small club compared to Liverpool. Lfc are in a time of change but the name of Liverpool is marked into the history of European forever, as the most successful English in Europe ever, and the second most successful club in the league. We are in a transition period but just cause everton ended up being a place higher than us in the league, doesn't mean they are good or even a big club. Let's not forget, we beat u 3 times over the course of the season, won the carling cup and should have won FA cup. What have everton got to show for all their efforts last season?? Nothing, zilch, nul point, zero....

Where i come from the irishman always has the last laugh ;)

Sweet!! Nice predictable comeback! Your club is a joke no one wants to manage you! So you end up with teddy.... All your fans we are signing cavani, Walcott, messi, hulk, hazard!! Get a grip.... You would love moyes as your manager!!

Tree Blue {Ed040's Note - So you admit that Everton is a small club then? Also if you hate Liverpool so much why are you on this page just a thought}

Make mine a Bitter!

Everton had to cancell the open top tour around walton for all their fans as the picture of the league table showing them above us might have got wet (by the way i do not dislike everton ,respect to them but hey blues fans have a reality check) red mick tag

And what did them 3 wins get you? You struggled to beat Cardiff....

If it's so boring why are you reading Liverpool forum's, didn't the Olympic Torch go through Wallesey ? Also why don't you sell half season tickets at the start of the season and can you still bring ' yer ' nan for a fiver next season ?

When whiskey nose retires it'll be Moyes to scum and bye bye Blues. Championship here we come. Sad, but can't see it any other way. Sorry bitters.

Typical dickh**d using the 120 million when it was 30 mil net spend

Peoples club?Pity the people don't go.

03 Jun 2012 08:47:31
If Liverpool don't sign Joe Allen - (if you listen properly to the Rodgers presser he swerves the question about going back for the Swansea players and it was Hue Jenkins who said there was a deal of type in place!) then look to Liverpool to attempt to buy Midfielder Jordie Clasie 20 from Feyenoord. This is a typical (If we can now say that) Rodgers type player! The Dutch Xavi

Have watched bits on youtube, a real terrier play breaker who gets the ball and gives the ball quickly.
can he step up a level and do it in the prem though?
is he able to do it any different to spearing?

He's worse than Spearing don't understand the hype?

03 Jun 2012 08:18:28
Not LFC related. Yes, England were really average in the 2 warm up games, but they won. If I remember correctly, Italy won the 2006 world cup playing exactly the same way. What is it with our press? You can't win either way. No wonder certain managers within the game try their utmost to give them a negative response during interviews. Really hope Brendan Rodgers does well at LFC, and I hope the guy has got thick skin.

The more support something gets, the worse it gets. Classic example is Capello winning La Liga with Real Madrid, then being sacked because it wasn't exciting enough, which was then followed by quite a few Barca league titles.

How can the eds bear any more of this. Will everyone please stop...just stop. I try to read all the posts, mainly because I'm out of the loop being a few miles away from the city of my birth...but people, please cut the crap. Read the posts, use the search function, get your head out of your arses. Do people simply stumble across this site, post some inane question which has been asked twenty times the same day, then sit and wait, constantly refreshing the page, in the hope that someone responds, thus confirming their actual existence?

Affelay, Murphy, Essien, Kalou, Alonso, Soldado, Higuain, Christ Almighty Michael Bleeding Owen, will you just shut it and use the search function? It is at the top of the page. The designers of this site put it at the top of the page for a reason. That reason is to stop people asking the same frigging question over and over again. Cavani, Lavezzi, hey lets give Aquilani a go, everyone knows he's quality and so much better that Spearing (a local boy but just not good enough) and Adam (fat and over-ambitious), Joe Cole on his 90k but bristling with talent...I even read a shout for Emile Heskey. I don't have any rant about Emile Heskey. I'll just repeat his name. Emile. Heskey. I'd rather sign Mark Hately.

Or Paul Mariner. Now.

Walcott, Defoe, Lennon, Mc bloody Geady, are all garbage. They won't be joining Liverpool. Neither will Fellaini. Or Drenthe. Or David (Medusa) Moyes. Nor will Neymar, Michel Bloody Bastos, Raul, Ronal-f***in-dinho, Van Persie, or any of the other random names that people throw out. For the love of god, signing players is a complex and costly business. Nor will we sign Lucas Ocampos, Steven Defour, Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez...the list, it seems, goes on.

There is no such thing as a 'smokescreen'. He might be a Transformer. I'm not sure. Did Alex Ferguson use his purported interest in Glenn Hysen as a smokescreen because he really wanted to sign Bruce and Pallister? Could that be the one and only smokesceen in transfer history? Who is the smoke for?

I'm having a moment. Forgive me if you can. Please read the posts; your question will almost certainly have been answered previously, and then your curiosity will be sated. Save your delicate fingers. Save my aching eyes. Stop talking s**te. Vote Green or spoil your ballot paper. Aim to consume only good carbs. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Amen.

SpanishChris

Eds, I assume this is banter, rather than rumours.

It is very annoying. Example : Since Rodgers was announced as manager every other ''Rumour'' has been asking the Ed's if Rodgers will buy The Icelandic (i'm boycotting typing his name) because of the ridiculousness of it all.

When the Ed's have answered the questions repeatedly over and over. All it takes is scrolling down the page to read.

I remember recently i had a question for the Eds, but instead of cluttering up the site by asking the same tried old questions, i used the search function and there was a decent response which was recent and answered my question. I remember it was about Andre Wisdom.

The search function seems to be very under used. Editors should not have to reply ''Use the search function''. It should be common practise, that's what it's there for.

Tired and repeatedly repeated questions should be ignored under reasons of health and sanity for and of the Ed's.

The other ''Rumours'' that vex me are the ones where some one types an ''in list'' and an ''out list'' with loads of players names, but each player has their own line all to themselves, why?

Those should be for the banter page, or the yet to be created ''ridiculously annoying people page''.

Comolli's dried up ink well

What about Sigurdson?

Ranter rather than banter but there isn t a ranter room

Any chance of Lucas Moura? Heard he's the next big thing! Could fit well in to our team?

Square tomato

That just had me in stitches.
So very true.

Ed any chance of Aguero?

So spanish chris , do you know any good spanish players we should go for lol............lfc

If the eds don't like the posts they don't put them up. If they get asked the same question over and over they say 'use the search function' or 'see other posts' . We all get irritated by the same things being asked but not all of us get all of a lather and post such a rant. Go and lie down

Puzzled

It needed saying Spanish Chris!

PiInTheSkyMan

But other than that, you're happy...?

At least two of the people you mentioned could sign. And if everybody wrote within the confines of your limitations, this website would be a long blank empty space.

Get off your high horse.

We also see several of these posts a day brown nosing the eds. Haha

Cast iron, we are redeveloping Anfield and it will be announced within the next month. Nearly all the owners of houses on Lothair Road and Anfield Road have already had offers made to them for their houses. Knock and ask them if you don't believe me, start with the side nearest the main stand. I can guarantee they all had written offers in the last week.

Sean

We know this. It was reported in the guardian on july 31.
Tell us something we dont know.

They don't have to accept, they could be finding out how many would be open to the idea of a sale!

03 Jun 2012 02:50:07
Eds/Macca please tell me we are getting rid of Aquilani?

He's taking the absolute micky out of the club. If we sign a player for £18m I at least expect him to want to play for Liverpool. We only see him as "talented" because the rest of our midfield has been atrocious bar Lucas since Mascherano and Alonso left. He's nothing special, and he's a bottler. {Ed005's Note - I think that will be the plan but it all depends on what he tells Rodgers.}

We should play hard ball with him,as I think selling him for 3 million is way under the odds.He's worth 5 million even with his high wages.That was really shady what Milan did ,but I suppose the clause should never of been put into the loan deal.We shouldn't let him go for less than 5 million.Keep him and let him be a squad player.We could have used him last season, when Milan stopped playing him.

So by talented you admit he is our third best midfielder after lucas and gerrard, so shouldnt we sell adam henderson spearing etc before we look to gte rid of our more talented midfielders

A squad player gettin payed what he is ?

03 Jun 2012 00:35:17
hi eds are there any youth players you feel could make the break into the 1st team this year? cheers {Ed005's Note - I think Sterling will almost certainly get a few appearences.}

03 Jun 2012 00:11:21
Is sigurdsson any good eds? don't no much about him,and are anyone else other than Swansea interested in him?thanks
Kp {Ed005's Note - I haven't seen much of him but based on his Swansea performances last season he looks good.}

03 Jun 2012 00:09:53
Ed, our new boss prefers fast pasing football. Who do you think doesnt fit his profile on our team?we have a quality squad but there must be playesrs that you think wont cut it with the quick pass and attack strategy. {Ed005's Note - At the moment I can't see Carroll fitting into that however big lads have adapted to playing in teams that play such a style. I think all of our players are perfectly capable of fitting into the style but they need to be better off the ball if it is to work.}

03 Jun 2012 02:29:01
All we need to do is buy in players who are two-footed. Look at how much we have struggled with Adam, Downing, Carroll [coming into it], Enrique and Henderson. They don't have two feet to play with. Look at Sigurdsson. He has two very good feet and is able to shoot with both feet as well as keep the ball under controll with both feet.

Anyone have any ideas on who is two footed and is available?

BthekingB

I believe all footballers are two footed

Well I've never come across a footballer who hasn't got two feet. It would be quite difficult to stand up, never mind playing football without two feet

Elmo96

So Messi is s**t?

The players who favour their left foot were brought in to solve the problem of having too many players who favoured their right foot.

Thierry Henry was well known for only using his one foot yet will probably go down as one of the best strikers to ever grace the EPL so wouldnt worry too much.
Again have we been patient enough with our so called crap players who only took us to two finals just had poor performances in the league but still deserved better.
Personally I think we were unlucky I like the squad and think apart from one or two signings and a couple of promotions from the reserves we are a strong team just believe.
Better the devil you know than the devil you dont.

Kopping a feel

So you think messi robben and van Persie are poor players

{Ed006's Note - Robben is poor}

Robben? lol

03 Jun 2012 01:14:20
If Sigurddson comes in, then what will happen with Henderson? I see Sigurddson and Henderson as practically the same player other than the Sigurddson set plays being a bit better.

We still have Gerrard, Lucas, Rodriguez, Kuyt, Adam, Spearing and Shelvey too and none of these are specialist wingers!

Surely we have to move at least 2 of these players on? Maybe we should loan out Spearing and sell Kuyt and Adam?

If gylfi comes in i d expect adam to be out the door

Sigurrsdson is very similar to a young frank lampard mate he is a goal scoring midfielder which are hard to come by-gh

Henderson is not even a 10th of the player as Sigurdsson

03 Jun 2012 01:13:27

Personally, Id prefer three games with no injuries to our players. Not fussed about england

03 Jun 2012 00:46:08
A quote from Craig Bellamy (for me, what a Liverpool player should be) about Raheem Sterling...

"He is a talent, give him some time to carve out a career," Bellamy said. "Fingers crossed that if he can knuckle down and focus on his training, he can grow to become a real star."

Knowing Craigs mentality, I think he sees Raheems mental attitude may not be what it should be. Lets hope he does focus and not end up another Wright Philips.
The Robster.

I watch sterling and he has undoubted skill, but he is so very small, i fear he's either going to get injured by a late and lazy tackle, or he's going to trip over the size 5 football.

I love the little lad and have watched him for quite a while. I hope he has a very long and successful career at Liverpool.

I just hope he doesn't listen to the hype, rest on his own laurels or gets too impatient with his role next season.

The lad is still a teenager, and physically a very small one. I hope he had very good people around him too keep him grounded. As he is an immense talent.

Brendan Rodgers has done another interview where he reveals he talks to mourinho on a weekly basis and remain very good friends. Personally think he's trying to use this sort of relationship to attract big names.

Also this guy can talk and he can come across as being very cocky, which is what I like about managers. He really does have some mourinho in him. And if you're so good friends with mourinho, please beg him to sell us nuri sahin. {Ed016's Note - If the relationship is as good as it seems it could be a big bonus for us}

In what way would it be good for us? {Ed016's Note - Getting in players is about who you know. Obviously, if they have a good relationship then perhaps it would benefit if Jose sent players our way.}

I wouldnt mind some Madrid rejects like VDV robben kaka sneijder sahin higuain etc

Are you Simple lad in what way would knowing the manager of possibly the greatest team in the world do for us.

John b m8 Torres was no where near world class b4 we signed him he was like I said a gamble he was young not a high scoring record he was not tried at the top ov a big club with pressure etc that's just a few points to say why he was a gamble and for most he did very very well could have been so much more but that a another story
YNWA lfc linc

What are you talking about the guy was captain of his club and scored 91 goals in 243 games, he only joined liverpool at 23 and piror to signing for liverpool was with spain at the 2006 world cup and which in a way already made him world class.

91 goals in 243 games for a striker is not world class. Playing for your country makes you international class not world class

Looks like Suarez is off this summer as a friend of mine took his son to the official Liverpool shop today only to be told the kid could not have Suarez on his shirt as they were told to wipe it with his future very much uncertain. Personally im not bothered as I think we can invest with 2 quality players. I mean the kid is a fantastic player but you never know when he's gonna blow up with his unpredictable attitude. {Ed016's Note - Can anyone else back this up? Seems odd I can still order his name online}

Its BS ed, he is a liar, suarez shirts are the biggest seller of the new kit, this was confirmed on lfctv on launch day {Ed016's Note - That's what i fugured}

Two words for you buddy

I really hope not

Its funny how they sold me my Torres top when went too watch the west brom game last season then like a month later he was gone so go spread your lies elsewhere.

Hi eds, you must be sick of questions regarding sigurdsson now, but after reading Rodgers' comments that he will 'be interested in the player should he come on the market'
Do you think we will make a move for him and do you expect him to sign for us? many thanks

Im going to try and help the eds with this anyone going on the Liverpool offical site and seeing the Liverpool away kit wont actually be looking at the away kit its blanked out black and wont be released untill the 4th of july.

gee man {Ed016's Note - I did see a leaked picture early and the kit was black and gold. Difference is that on the official site it is indeed blacked out. I know the image was different because it included the SC sponsor logo}

2nd july release date, not 4th, its revealed 4th june

Can someone explain to me how a black kit has something to do with the maritime traditions of Liverpool as that's how they describe it. Thanks {Ed016's Note - No one can answer that because no one has seen it}

Go onto the sightings page to see it

Ed do you know what other managers was in interview process

Thanks {Ed016's Note - Klopp was approached but didn't even have an interview. The club says Rogers was first choice. Obviously it seemed Martinez was also interviewed.}

Any ideas as to why Klopp wasn't interviewed ed?

many thanks

Zero {Ed016's Note - Yeah he didn't want to join and I told everyone over and over.}

If he had been interviewed u think he would now be our manager if he wanted the job?

Does swansea's deal with Rodgers include sigurdsson? {Ed022's Note - For the last time, NO! Sigurdsson is not a Swansea player.}

1. When I posted this there were no posts about it at the time and 2. surely its a bit cheeky considering its a gentle men's agreement (correct me if I'm wrong) however the next swansea manager may not want him anyway and also considering how much rodgers rates him (called him the next frank lampard) I guess it could happen.

Its not cheeky if he isnt their player
