Hi eds I just wondered if you knew had we show interest in either jetro willem or Andrew Robertson pretty sure both had contracts expiring soon?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I don't know about any Liverpool interest, he seems to be linked with everyone, but Hull have a years option on Robertson's contract which would take him until 2018 and they have opened talks with him about signing an extension.}

03 Nov 2016 20:45:17
Where is Waro Ed01?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I thought you had abducted him?}

03 Nov 2016 21:07:56
Lol. I thought Ron ate him 😀😀.

03 Nov 2016 23:50:22
He is good enough to eat 😋.

04 Nov 2016 00:07:14
Hes probably locked up in the Eds dungeon with Blair Mayne, Ozone and Rafaout.

04 Nov 2016 02:31:51
takes me back.

04 Nov 2016 07:55:27
I'm pretty sure one of his last posts suggested he was taking an extended break from the site. Possibly worded slightly differently to that.

04 Nov 2016 08:41:54
Took a self imposed sabbatical after the nonsense surrounding the burnley defeat and complete overreaction.

04 Nov 2016 10:21:12
Or may be he is back when he has something against owners. ATM everything seems alright.

04 Nov 2016 11:12:23
Can't believe anyone disagrees with my comment 😡.

03 Nov 2016 17:49:10
Talking purely hypothetically; based purely on ability and disregarding Sakho's apparent attitude issues and any other offer field issues, do you think Sakho and Matip would make a more solid CB partnership than Lovren and Matip?

Believable7 Unbelievable3

03 Nov 2016 18:13:48
I'd lean towards yes. Sakho's a bit rash on the pitch sometimes and makes errors (particularly with his headers), but when he's in top form he's quite a bit better than Lovren in top form. And Lovren does make mistakes too.

But given Sakho does have off-field issues and is going to leave the discussion is kind of moot.

03 Nov 2016 19:44:39
Matip and Sakho are the most talented are the most talented CBs we have as individual.

03 Nov 2016 19:48:11
He is a better defender than lovren by some miles but that's it. Southampton robbed us on lovren. He is bang average. Not sure y people cannot see it.

03 Nov 2016 20:18:15
I prefer Gomez and Matip. Both are very cool in possession.

03 Nov 2016 21:15:38
Gee how quickly things change. Just a few weeks ago there were lots of comments about how Lovren was performing under Klopp, very few negative ones.

03 Nov 2016 21:28:04
I don't ever want to see Sakho on for us again due to his poor attitude. Having said that yes I believe him and Matip would've been a decent partnership. But now I'd rather see young Gomez given his chance.

04 Nov 2016 00:56:58
I don't think it's necessarily negative mate, no one who watches us can reasonably say that he's a bad player and I agree that we need stability but I don't think it's mutually exclusive to incrementally pursue options that improve the team. In the long term it makes sense to look for a higher calibre of player, as Ed002 states, players are transitional employees of the club and are supposed to be professionals, that's the reality.

Furthermore I don't think anyone is suggesting we sell/ replace him in January by the way. We can be more than happy with not only the displays, but the results, and every member of the team is contributing to that. Why so glum?

04 Nov 2016 09:52:23
No, I don't think Sakho would be better than Lovren. I think he is a bit overated on here.

I think I can see a pattern with Matip and Lovren. Matip is the 'player' and Lovren is the guy to keep it simple. I think having both Sakho and Matip would result in having 2 'players' at the back - both trying to be inventive with the football, either in their passing or moving forward with the ball.

I think it's all about moving the football as quickly as possible and whereas Sahko has a better, more incisive passing range than Lovren, he also likes to dwell on the ball and over-elaborate with it. I think this would slow down the tempo of our play.

If you look at us this season, Hendo is a lot closer to the centrebacks, so the pass being played from defense to midfield is a much shorter, simpler pass, it's about recycling and continually moving the ball at speed. Our incisiveness is further up the field in the next phase. However, there's no doubt that Sakho's vertical passing would be advantageous, as he can find the front 5 quickly (although having Milner at left back allows this anyway) . I just think for this overall system, Lovren works better.

05 Nov 2016 09:52:56
Why even bother with this, he obviously has a terrible attitude even Ed001 has said he had attitude problems. Let it go and hopefully we can reclaim most of the money for him and let's concentrate on the great players we have who don't cause problems.

03 Nov 2016 17:34:10
So LFC have reportedly slapped a £68 mill price tag on Courts, does make me laugh when you consider what's been bought for £89.3 mill and hidden away in Utd's midfield.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

03 Nov 2016 17:59:58
Agreed, coutinho is much better than pogba all through the season so anything less is be disappointed. Tbh I don't think Barcelona can afford coutinho.

03 Nov 2016 18:17:17
Looking like these stories have some substance, which is a disgrace if true, PSG look to be interested but I cannot see him going to France, Barca or Real for me if he decides to leave, but certainly not for £68 mill, the club needs to rethink this price tag without a shadow of doubt.

03 Nov 2016 19:46:04
According to what source? The Metro? Get real lads.

03 Nov 2016 21:43:03
Don't believe it, but when we had Suarez he had a price tag of £40 mil but we didn't sell him for that. It was LFC's opinion that the "buy out clause" was a minimum we would accept not that we HAD to accept it.

03 Nov 2016 17:21:01
Virgil van Dijk is the name in the frame to replace the now strong possible departure of Sakho in Jan. can't see saints wanting to deal let alone in Jan plus fee would need to be round the 25 mil mark. Any news on this from your ends Eds?

Like the look of TAA a lot think the boy will do well given time and games which I think Klopp may well afford him both.

Feel for Ings greatly, don't see a reason to invest in a replacement however as we are well stocked with Origi, Sturridge, Firminio all first team ready and the potential to interchange the front 3 with the modern day wide forwards and the talent in the youth ranks available.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

03 Nov 2016 17:36:36
Surely gomez will take sakho's place in the first team unless we are planning to offload him too.

03 Nov 2016 17:44:34
I think we should go for Schar and forget the Van Dijk talk altogether, it's not like we are looking for a cb to go into the starting eleven.

03 Nov 2016 19:49:07
Sorry but how many CBs do we actually need? Matip, Lovren, Klavan, Lucas, Sakho and Gomez all fighting for two spots in the squad. We are overstocked and if we reinvest money from selling Sakho into the squad immediately, it should go on the only position where we are short of first team quality - LB.

03 Nov 2016 20:29:06
There's a young Portuguese lad who I think would fit the bill perfectly. Tiago Ilori is his name. Pretty sure he wouldn't break the bank either 😂.

03 Nov 2016 21:17:38
Still someone going on about Illori? Surely the fact that he's had next to no playing time under a series of managers now, here and on loan, tells us something?

{Ed001's Note - he is earning rave reviews for the U23s and he is still young enough to make it. Though I am sure the poster was probably joking.}

03 Nov 2016 22:39:27
Is it at all likely that he may get a chance? Maybe early rounds of fa cup as unlikely as that may be.

03 Nov 2016 22:39:27
Is it at all likely that he may get a chance? Maybe early rounds of fa cup as unlikely as that may be.

{Ed001's Note - it is more likely he leaves in the summer.}

03 Nov 2016 23:43:28
nice to hear that ed001. if illoris not going to get his chances here, i hope he makes it elsewhere.

04 Nov 2016 00:17:41
Spot on Ed001, you got me! Although Burkeyboy appears to have missed my tongue, which was wedged firmly in my cheek! Tiago Ilori, Hero to Zero to Hero?! 😂.

04 Nov 2016 00:42:33
Righto thanks Ed001.

03 Nov 2016 16:46:54
I'm a football fan, but seriously. I would happily read banter about any other team. including everto blue nose, but threads on pogba and united. WTF.

03 Nov 2016 15:42:22
Question for the eds:
Did players from around the world in the 60s, 70s, 80s want to play for Liverpool in the same way players now want to go and play for Real and Barcelona? And if so why didn't that happen?
The only foreign players I can think of from those decades are Craig Johnston and Jan Molby.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - some did, but it wasn't as simple as that, never has been. It wasn't so worldwide on TV for them to hear of Liverpool back then, even those that had, how on earth would we hear of them? We didn't have a worldwide scouting system.}

03 Nov 2016 17:30:22
I suppose so. It's hard to think of a time where the internet didn't exist
Was there anyone else who joined you can think of?

03 Nov 2016 20:21:03
If I remember rightly I think the clubs virtually owned all rights to the player.

even out of contract players couldn't just walk out and find a new club.

I think the clubs also owned their registration.

It was the opposite of todays player power.

03 Nov 2016 23:51:49
Avi Cohen?

04 Nov 2016 08:11:40
Think Michael Laudrup was very close to joining back in the day. Can't remember the reason why he turned us down in the end. Not sure if anyone else has heard this story?

Also pretty sure Maradona very nearly signed for Sheffield United in the early 80's (or they were in discussions anyway) .

04 Nov 2016 09:55:40
The club offered him a 2 year deal. he wanted a 3 year year one. We weren't going to let a young Danish lad dictate to the club. so both parties went sepeerate ways.

03 Nov 2016 15:32:30
Was watching the ...

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - This is the Liverpool page.}

03 Nov 2016 13:36:23
Hi Ed would love to get your opinion on Paul Pogba mate.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - very good player being used incorrectly at the moment. He will get better as he develops a partnership in midfield, but it will take time, as he needs someone alongside him who understands when he is charging forward and when he is holding back etc. He needs to be given freedom in a deeper role, as a box to box midfielder, rather than an attacking mid starting 5-10 yards further up the pitch. He is almost on top of the opposing defence when he receives the ball, when he should be bursting onto them at pace, after a few yards to get going.}

03 Nov 2016 14:01:14
He needs to play in a midfield 3 he would be best suited playing with Carrick holding, Herrera as a deep playmaker and pogba box to box.

03 Nov 2016 14:25:53
Let's hope he's kept to playing out of position, i'm not going to moan at that. At the moment he's done bugger all, long may it continue.

03 Nov 2016 14:36:58
Ed01, What was the need of Pogba given Herrerra plays pretty much in that position. Pogba and Herrerra in a midfield would overkill as both would get into each others way or one will be completely isolated in the midfeild.
Schniderlin-Pogba should be the deal imo.

{Ed001's Note - they are not the same, and, even if they were, it is like saying why would you get Messi when you have Willian. They both play mainly right wing, but they are a whole different level from each other. Pogba, on his game, is a worldie, Herrera is merely an excellent player.}

03 Nov 2016 14:38:19
I agree Ed after watching Pogba play over the years at Juve. While there, he played on the left of a 4-4-2 diamond under Allegri and on the left of a central midfield t3 of he Vidal/ Marquisio and Pirlo. He was lethal in said positions as he had partners and a setup to get the best out of him. He`s being used badly as you say, no just at Utd, but with les Bleus as Deschamps still does not know what his best position is hence, he struggled at the Euros and is doing the same now at Utd. He may need time AND a manager who actually knows what to do with him. Is that manager Mou? Time will tell.

{Ed001's Note - Deschamps is hopeless to be fair.}

03 Nov 2016 19:54:43
Hendersons and Pogba would be a great pair together. Shame about his odd run I guess Fergie!

03 Nov 2016 20:25:35
Utd are going through a phase where no matter what they do It'll not work out right.
And throwing money at it and huge wages are not the answer.

By the way. GOOD RIDDANCE AND LONG MAY IT LAST.
ynwa.

03 Nov 2016 11:17:28
Ed001 if you are free, I have seen a couple posts about ex players Alonso, Hamann etc. was wondering if you could give me an opinion on Luis Garcia don't worry if you already have! he was my favourite player growing up in the mid 2000s was fantastic to watch silky on the ball was he liked at the club? I feel he could offered a bit more if the club didn`t move him on or was that him wanting out? I wished we went for him earlier in his career could of been even better for us!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I loved him as a person, but he was on the periphery of most games, never took control of them, which is what he should have done. Lovely skill, but just didn't impose himself enough. Great guy though, and a very big Liverpool fan now.}

03 Nov 2016 14:02:40
Thanks ed, if anybody hasn't seen he went a as a ghost with goal written on the front for a Halloween party was fantastic.

{Ed001's Note - the pics are on his Instagram.}

03 Nov 2016 14:39:20
He`s often on BEIN Sport footie panels with Christian Vieri and always talks LFC whenever our news come up. Great guy!

03 Nov 2016 10:26:04
Eds, a report this morning linking us with a young psg centre back, I'm not even going to try and spell it! Got me wondering if psg would be interested in having sakho back, the two things not necessarily involved in the same deal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - PSG have no interest in Sakho.}

03 Nov 2016 12:54:47
Thanks ed2.

03 Nov 2016 14:28:33
No wonder, a desperate team might be interested in him. I think it'll prove to be difficult to get rid, but what do I know, we'll see.

03 Nov 2016 09:48:13
Ed001 I know you can't predict the future but when klopp does leave (hopefully not do a while I might add) do you think pepjin lijnders will be lined up to take over? He seems to be doing very well in his position and working with the younger players would put him in a better position than others do you have an opinion on him do you rate him?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is a distinct possibility, it would certainly be a good way to continue with the same style of play. Pepjin very much favours the Klopp style of football as well.}

03 Nov 2016 09:57:09
I think that would be the best option, klopp builds the foundation wins things and continue it from within would probably help stabilise the club and defiantly help players not having to learn a new style! Thanks for answering have a good day!

03 Nov 2016 10:02:47
It'd certainly be a ggood option but Klopp will be with us for years I hope!

03 Nov 2016 10:27:47
I asked this a few months ago and 002 said they wouldn't be planning for it already.

{Ed001's Note - and no one is saying they are. What is your point?}

03 Nov 2016 12:54:21
No point just another point of view on the subject.

{Ed001's Note - ok got you.}

03 Nov 2016 14:29:12
Lost me.

03 Nov 2016 14:43:00
That wouldn`t be a bad idea to have Pep take over, as it seems everyone in the first team all the way down to the academy kids will be playing the same system. And don`t forget, Pep is Dutch, one of the palaces where gegen pressing was used as a tradition under Rinus Michels that culminated in the Total Football we know today so the guy knows the system inside out.

03 Nov 2016 19:56:53
Surely it would depend on the circumstances of Klopps departure.

04 Nov 2016 03:34:46
A return of the boot room staff. that's exactly what this club has been missing, seems like our soul had been taken away when the boot room was let go.

03 Nov 2016 09:22:57
Looking for some feedback from locals on here. I'm thinking of heading over to Liverpool from Dublin this weekend but I don't have a match ticket. How likely would it be to get one outside the ground? And how much over the odds would I be charged?

Thanks for any help lads.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

03 Nov 2016 10:16:21
You'll be paying mad odds pal you'll definitely get one but will pay for it!

03 Nov 2016 10:30:53
The game is on tv too isn't it? Find a good pub with a good atmosphere, if you're in Liverpool early, head down to the team hotel in hope st and see the team as the board the bus, would prob be 11ish I'd guess. Then with the crazy money you didn't get ripped off for by a tout, head round town to celebrate a victory (fingers and toes crossed! )

03 Nov 2016 10:30:58
I'm pretty much resigned to paying over the odds. Just trying to get an idea of how much over the odds too!
Have you any idea?!

04 Nov 2016 20:58:42
Sorry mate, I don't know.

03 Nov 2016 09:04:37
Andy Carroll accosted by two gunmen in London - they didn't take anything. He's finally found two attackers worse than him! Back at Anfield on Sunday for the first time in 30 years. Last time we won 4-0. I'll be very happy in we can do the same again!
