Musicnation you said earlier if you could you'd take chicharito from THEM because we don't have a clincal striker?

wobble your head mate tryna tell me he's more clinical than Suarez and Sturridge pfft

He is more clinical than Suarez. How many shots does Suarez need? Hernandez would be a great addition to any team in the world, he really shoudn't be sitting on the bench at Old Toilet.

05 Apr 2013 01:20:56
Come on, just because he plays for the doesn't mean we can't be honest about him he's a brilliant player, far too good to be on their bench, I'd take him in a second if he was available to us. I'd love to see him play alongside Suarez, they'd surely be the best strike partnership in the prem

No the point is he isn't more clinical than Suarez and Sturridge and this musicnation guy said we don't have a clinical striker i'm not having that

Chicharito isn't even in the top 20 top pl scorers this season

Hernandez can only score from the bench, and is quite easily nulified by fresh defenders. If he's so fantastic, why is he behind Welbeck in the United strike force?

If my Chicharito comment offends anyone I am sorry. People are entitled to their opinion. Suarez isn't a clinical striker. He is on top of PL scoring list but look at his conversion ratio.

If you say he is on bench for UTD then I would like to point out Berbatov. He was top scorer in 10-11 season but was on bench next season.

Sturridge wasn't even getting the bench for Chelsea. So please don't give this illogical reasons just to undermine me.

Samsam9000 There is a term called squad depth. And substitutions are made because of a reason. Wouldn't you love a player who can come off the bench & score in the time of need?

Yes I would Music, but I would also like that player to be able to score when he starts the match because other players are rested or injured - not someone who can quite literally only score from the bench.

And Sturridge was always on the bench for Chelsea when he was fit

Hernandez is a much better finisher than Sturridge, but Sturridge given he gives the form from his first few games not his last two, offers more over the pitch

05 Apr 2013 13:02:11
Suarez scores most of the goals from absolute nothing. he is the sole creator of most of his goals.
chicarito scores the goals from inside the penalty area. supplied by someone.
you can't compare both of them.
Suarez is in different class.
Suarez can score goals from half way line.
chicarito can just watch and admire.
suarez can score goals from dead ball.
chicharito can watch and admire.

chicarito is a pretty good player. someone like sturridge with 0 arrogance and selfishness.

You back already harry?

People say that Sturridge did nothing in the Spurs match, but go back and watch it - specifically watch Downings goal and look at where Sturridge was. He was actually a much better option than Downing taking the shot - he was where we needed him to be when we needed him to be there. We brought him as a striker and he stays up front - he's going to look a bit anonymous when we don't press forward much but that doesn't give him a bad game. Eqaully against Southampton, we scored from the rebound of a well saved Sturridge shot

05 Apr 2013 14:36:09
I don't like sturridge.
what am I supposed to do now?
Stop supporting Liverpool FC?

You don't have to like Sturridge. You have to support him whilst he tries to help you.

The goalscoring charts are laughably irrelevant in any discussion on Hernandez' quality - other than to point out he has 8 goals in 8 games, I am guessing not one of them a full game though I'm not sure, and as of the end of February he was the most prolific minutes per goal scorer in the League, and I'm sure that hasn't changed. His attitude has always been good (he looks out of place in a Utd shirt to me). Yes it's out of line to say we don't have a clinical finisher as Sturridge is exactly what we needed but don't let the charts fool you - Suarez is not clinical. Anyone who thinks that Ferguson isn't making a mistake playing Welbeck over him isn't wise.

Suarez makes more chances than any other striker in europe so he's bound to miss more but he scores a shedload more

You can't compare chicharito with auarez, suarez is in the messi ronaldo catorgory chicharito is very good poacher but can't tie suarez' laces

I have it on good authority that unless a deal can be done with NASA, Andy Carroll will be remaining on this planet. Martin Skrtel has put in a transfer request so he can move to Middle-earth. However, Luis Suarez will make a return to planet H17fby, as he is simply out of this world.

You heard it here first!

El Pi**edolero

P. s did anyone else hear Mike Graham on a certain sports radio station call Alan Pardew Alan Partridge last night?

04 Apr 2013 22:15:34
On koptalk its says Alonso-Suarez Madrid. My membership expired on there can somebody let me know what that is. Hope madrid aren't demanding suarez for alonso.

It is bollschit. Koptalk isn't reliable mate.
derryred

Koptalk is crap run by a piece of $&?! who has made money off our greatest tradegy.

If THEY (meaning him aka Dunc) said it then it is definitely not true.

You'll do good by not renewing your membership mate he's been taking (robbing) Liverpool fans money for years

Btw ask him if James Milner is still coming on loan!

04 Apr 2013 22:46:22
Luckly we are not in for alonso and as far as I know madrid aren't in for suarez. or has that changed ed002? Shall we add real madrid to the list of bayern, juventus&mancity? Would really Appreciate the answer.

Malak {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in Alonso from Liverpool nor Real Madrid for Suarez.}

Stocker from FC Basel looks a good player.

Basel look a really good side considering they cone for a far weaker league in terms if money and competition.

04 Apr 2013 21:56:49
ashley williams will come in to replace carra. ince will come in for assaidi, and assaidi will be used as a player plus cash deal for eriksen. the net spend should fall within our 20 - 25 mill budget. these are definite in's.

any other business will depend on sales only and if better options can be sought. a back up left back will be looked at, however will require big money sales to get direct replacement and the lb. for instance, if skrtel and/or coates goes for good money alderweireld and the back up left back will be sought. if a decent bid for downing comes in, a deal with newcastle for ben arfa and carroll will be struck.

rodges brain

Thank you so much brendan for the update. Its always good to know you visit this site for tips from fifa experts.
next time spell your surname correctly
& please learn from rafa how to succeed in europe.

But don't ask Rafa how to NOT run a club without nearly sending it into financial ruin.

What the hell is that about financial ruin, I don't even get where that's coming from.

Eriksen will NOT be coming

Alderweireld is off to spurs!

Why would we need to learn how to succeed in Europe? At this point, we aren't in Europe

I was just wondering about something that has always intrigued me is players who are thought to have. Lied about there age for example sedyou doumbia who says he is 25 but looks about 45 also KANU, Taiwo, okocha who is thought to be 10 years older than he claimed also john obi mike who people believe could be about 31 also taribo west who inter Milan signed thinking he was 23 and he was 35 so it is incredibly important clubs make sure they find out thee real age of these Nigerian footballer also a question for ed is sedydou doumbia age being disputed why clubs who have scouted him have not made a bid

LfcLiam

If you don't have a birth certificate which still many don't as babies in some countries you ask a doctor to issue one when your older and all they can go on is what you look like :-)

Sure Seydou Doumbia has only been playing adult professional level football since he was around 13, just show's how good he is :P. It's a joke tbh I wouldn't buy anyone with questions around their age and would be annoyed if LFC got caught by this kind of scam

Obafemi Martins is another one - there is a picture of him and Kanu training together in the Nigerian U21 team decades ago but he's '29'

04 Apr 2013 21:25:12
If Liverpool were to lose Carragher, Skrtel and Coates this summer, would you be disappointed if we replaced those three with Kelly, Wisdom and Sama?

Yes! I'm all for youth but it's very rare that young centre halfs (no matter how talented), are able to compete at the highest level week in week out.

In happy to sign just one, if they're top class and MgLaughlin joins up with the first team. That said Kelly and Agger (of old) are injury prone, so two would be sensible.

Papa G

Sama was run ragged by spurs under 21'S the other day

1 QUALITY CB plus Kelly wisdom McLaughlin and perhaps a player that could fill in at CB like wanyama or gustavo.

04 Apr 2013 21:23:51
im just watching spurs play basel and basel have a good player in salah, I wonder if BR is watching the same player, he is direct, got pace and and would be cheap,

04 Apr 2013 22:00:58
Cool you noticed him;) I wrote a post about him before the game;) he is 21 and basel signed him for 1.5 milion euros from (mokaweloon) a relegation side in egypt! He has played 19 internationals with 15+ goals already! We have big hopes for him in Egypt! If an egyptian player signed for Liverpool I would say he is not good enough but salah is, amazing and in 2 years time will already be a huge name in european football. (porto, dortmound, zenit) have all enquired about him!
If Liverpool signed him I would be delighted :)

Malak

He would be a great signing for us, only 20 yrs old, but only signed on a 4yr deal last year with Basel, but i'm sure he's caught the eye of a lot of managers tonight.

Hi Malak-
If you don't mind me asking a non-LFC related question, how is Bradley doing for you guys as manager? I've met him a few times and always seemed like a decent guy so curious how you think he's getting on?

Might be motd fever, however Salah looks like a perfect match for our right wing/forward role. His record is very good, he scores with both feet but is predominantly left footed and apparently scores decisive goals, all at the age of 21. He gave vertongen a mare, and is clearly a great technician full of pace yet always in control. Definitely worth a pun.

Definite MOTD fever running high here

04 Apr 2013 21:09:54
Eds, in your honest opinion. Who are our summer targets? {Ed002's Note - Read the posts - what we know has been shared.}

04 Apr 2013 23:33:39
Ello:)
Bob bradley is doing a great job! Beyond great!
He took over a really ageing group of players that was finished physically and mentaley after winning 3 cup of nations in a row, he has kept 2 of them in the squad for experience. in egypt we used to have a squad of 25 players from the 3 big clubs most of them from ahly&zamalek (2 big clubs in cairo) but Bradley has tried out 57 players from 18 clubs in 33 friendlies. before him most of our players who were half decent were 29-33 years old and we had no real proffesionals in europe but now the best 6-7 players in the team are all 21 or younger and already being picked up by teams in europe!
He also changed the tactics, egypt were still playing with an old hungarian tactic which were the reason for their sucsess in the 50s and 60. With a sweeper! A tactic some italian teams still used!
In egypt we were cryingout for a change and he changed it and gave the chance to youngsters and its great!
The only thing that bothers me is his GK coach, he worked with him in USa team and he is Egyptian! He acts like an assistant manager and a media representative and a pundit and I think Bob Bradley would be doing an even better job than he already is!

How many of you think Luis Suarez is a £50m/£60m striker?
How many of you think Andy Carroll is more of a £10m/£15m Striker?

I don't think many fans would be complaining too much if we bought Suarez for £45m and Carroll for £12m.

The fans expectation of payers always seems to reflect their 'price tag'. People look at players and all they do is compare the players performances to how much was paid for them. Regardless of age, form and pressure.

I know many of you rate this Eriksen guy who we have been heavily linked with recently. If we purchased him for £15m - £20m, i'm guessing many of you would say we paid the right price. If it did not work out then many of you would be criticising Rodgers for wasting precious funds. And Eriksen would be subject to much abuse. Look at Joe Allen!

My point is that we should not look too much into the 'price tag' of players. Us fans heap so much pressure on a player because of this. It is nothing to do with a player if they are bought for high price. All it means is that they were playing well for their previous club.

Think about this.
If the cost of every player was kept undisclosed then how many players would get as much stick from their own fans as they currently do?

Allen would still get stick because he is shocking!

It's not really fans to be honest, it's tv "pundits" and the newspapers that make a big deal out of fees.

I wouldn't call him shocking he basically carried the team in his 1st month but has definitely dropped off hopefully he'll come back stronger next season

A players quality, ability, talent or skill is not quantified or correlated to their price tag, like we are mislead to believe on fifa.

Since a fee is based on their importance to the selling club, size of selling club, remaining contractual service, competing interest from other clubs, age and therein potential, the rather intangible quantity of ability, arguably position, history of loyalty, experience and honours ect.

We can't for that reason judge a player on its fee, because all the circumstances above fluctuate meaning two similarly skilled players can have a transfer difference of £10m, for example.

Is a player any better technically because he was cheaper? no, he is better value for money. We aren't judges anyway, we are supporters.

If you've ever made a challenge with a fractured bone anywhere in your upper body, Allens drop of form will make a lot more sense to you. It really, really, really hurts

Hello to all the LFC supporters.

This is for ed002. What impression has Coutinho made on you till now? {Ed002's Note - I understand he is doing well and enjoying his time at the club.}

On the same subject again. Do you see him as a winger or should play as CAM when fully fit & adapts to the physicality here?

LW that drifts inside.

Why can't he be available for both depending on who else is there?

Samsam9000 Spot on mate. We need to add atleast couple of such players more to squad. But this summer we need a CAM (Eriksen) and a pacey forward who can score (Mertens/Dzsudzsak).

With full backs providing width all 4 of our attackers can interchange & cause havoc in defenses.

Rodgers sometime is short on tactics but I love what he has done to bring ou the attacking best from our players.

Can't wait for him to add more quality in first 11 (ie replacing Downing, Skrtel & bringing a proper DM)

I just hope lessons were learnt from summer of 2011.

Hi guys if any of you are watching spuds-basel
Keep an eye on basels mohamed salah and mohamed el nenny! 2 egyptian internationals, both 21! One is the egyptian messi and the other is the egyptian gerrard! Hope you see them!

Malak

If they're the Egyptian Messi and Gerrard then Egypt are going to have their work cut out in Brazil. I dread to think how bad your Egyptian Heskey is.

Watching the game? Asou ekkotto just subbed off he couldn't handle salah. 2-2 so far!
I think egypt will surprise a few;) we just won the u21 african championship and our young players play in decent european clubs! Tottenahm defence can't handle salah as we speak;)

Malak

Yeah, I eat my words actually, my apologies, Salah does look quite good.

04 Apr 2013 22:25:46
No stress man:) would you rather have him or ince? he is 21 and today without being biased was a bad game, he usually is a better finisher! He cost basel 1. 5 m euros and would cost a bit more than ince!

Ok heres one, if you could have a player from any of the top clubs, united city chelsea arsenal tottenham and everton who would you choose and why?

Scouse_pride

Vincent Kompany. Absolute rock and a great leader.

Davey Sulls

From UTD i'll get Chicharito. We don't have a clinical striker.

City Yaya for DM

Arsenal Wilshere for CAM

Spurs Vertonghen ( We need a CB like him to partner Agger)

Everton Are you kidding me?

Yaya Toure, Baines or Kompany - purely because they have attributes our team would thrive on

RobInRed

Bale do I reli need a reason?

Everton a top club? Its posts like this that make this site so entertaining, thanks for putting a smile on my face.

And to answer your question a fully fit Richards from City.

always a red

Gareth bale because he is boss.

Anonymous woolback

Van persie
Kompany
Hazard
Walcott
Dembele
Baines

All would walk into our first team is the reason why

NV

Van Persie, Hazard, Dembele, Jagielka and Wilkshire

Wilshire, he has impressed me nearly every time he has played. Even against us he looked the carbon copy of Gerrard.
derryred

Definitely Dembele, or Vidic, would strengthen in areas we need, and they're class

04 Apr 2013 21:15:23
It would have to be PHIL Nev from neverwinathing why because I heard our tea lady wants A assistant and let's face it least he would get his hands on a cup JON96

04 Apr 2013 21:26:04
if everton aren't regarded a top team then neither are we so don't be bitter. we have history but they are currently better

Bale - Quality

Wilshire - Future Gerrard

Mata - The type of winger we desperately need

Fellaini - Powerful player that you want behind your striker

Kompany - Solid Defender

For me, Vertonghen or Kompany. Our biggest issue seems to lie in defense and they're both fantastic.

Hernandez for finishing, Hazard for wide-play, Vertonghen for playing football from the back, Cazorla for another quality midfielder and - if Reina were to leave - Joe Hart! I wouldn't count Everton as one of those "top" clubs, although to be fair Spuds too but I thought Vertonghen more than worth a mention.

Dembele, Mata, Vertongen, Baines, Chicharito

Phil Neville? Is this the same Phil Neville with far more medals than any LFC player? Several Premier Leagues and a European Cup? Just asking.

SJH

Oh I forgot Chelsea.

There is one & only player there that change change our whole attitude & bring resilience to frail mentality.

Juan Mata

Phil Neville has far more medals? that's funny, I thought he had 2 more, and was not an integral part of any of those victories

spotted the comments lower down about Johnson - sorry for coming in so late on the topic but I have always believed the priority with a full back is the ability to defend, everything else is a bonus. Johnson cannot defend

Puzzled

The thing with Johnson is his strength and pace. If a man goes past him he has the speed to get back and get his body between the ball and player and has the strength to keep them off the ball. We know he isn't the best at defending but he still has qualities to help.
YNWA
Jamesy

What frustrates me about our fullbacks, this is more to do with Enrique than Johnson, is that they take the ball stationary and take far too many touches instead of playing it on first time.
derryred

Puzzled, good point, as I keep telling you, we have the best right back around.

Would anyone be able to explain to me the logic of selling people 'because they were over priced'? I've seen it a few times now and I just don't get it. If they were over priced, no-one else will pay that price for them and as we already spent the money, surely if we just sell them on for less then we've just wasted whatever the difference is. Am I being really stupid or is the logic of selling a player because they were over-priced when we brought them just ridiculous?

I think saying a player is sold because they are overpriced is basically saying they did not demonstrate to the ability the price tag dictated, and therefore taking the hit on selling at a reduced cost could still raise capital for investment in another player sought by the club. I don't think the price itself is the factor, more that the performances didn't reflect the price paid.

JFT 96

JP

Over priced is not the real issue the issue is being not good enough.

To all the posters who are not quite supporting the club (You know who they are ) and posting let's sell of X, Y, Z players cause they suck play complete BS and want to sell each player who is not playing well I have an idea for you guys why not sell/fire everyone at the club and just close shop.

Chew on this thought for some time.

Learn to support the club and the players and if can't then well .

Havoc's Call

How about some of them players pull there finger out and stop being content with there level of performance

Level of performance. were on a good run at the min, we had a real bad start but that was to expected.

To the second poster.

is this what Liverpool fans have come to.

fat slops at home in their armchair having ago at kids (that is who you are having ago at the ones that are only here about 12/24 months) who have given up their lives to become footballers, you think that they now can't be bothered to even try after all the time and dedication it took to get here.
ask your self this if you had the talent and self-control to stop eating pies and become a footballer, then at 22 arsenal come calling and sign you (not all players are LFC fans). after every thing you have done to this point, would you then give up trying at the REAL beginning of you career?

I would want to sell players that haven't contributed to that good form.
Gulacsi, Flanagan, Skrtel, Coates, Wilson, Spearing, Pacheco, Assaidi, Carroll.
None of them have been involved during one of our better games this season.
We could lose all of these players and almost be as strong as we are right now.

Losing Carragher, Skrtel and Coates means Kelly, Wisdom and Sama move up to first team centre backs.

I'd rather keep Gulacsi and I agree with you on the others except maybe Coates since I believe there is some potential in him

Havoc's Call

Who do the people on this site think our priority singing should be and give a name and reason clearly center half left back defensive midfield and number 10 or winger but put a name to the position ed's feel free to say who feel

And please be realistic thanks

I would try to sign robert lewandowski. Perfect for our system.

Me. In a joint role as Manager and Chief Scout. And Chairman. And Managing Director. And star Striker. You're welcome

04 Apr 2013 17:31:19
if I was the manager and had the funds for four players which I think is realistic I would sign:

CB - sakho
DMF - clasie
CMF - marvin martin
Winger/striker - martinez (dream buy)

That four would cost a big some and would mean a lot of fringe players would have to be sold.

I would sell:
carroll
skrtel
assaidi
coates

That would be pretty awesome but won't happen lol

04 Apr 2013 18:02:54
Lets see. my priorities would be 1. Offer suarez a new contract, to show him we value him and want to pay him what the going rate for a player of his calibre is, he makes 120 000, so let's say a new deal of 150 000 would make him happy to stay 1 more season and fend off intrest from other teams and give up a stress free window!
2. Keep reina as I believe he is a brilliant player, he is just not a keeper.
Then the squad needs
1. Gk
2. Cb
3. Cb
4. Rw

Realistic targets that the club wants or may be possible
Gk. Guillermo ochoa (we have a Nr. 1 in reina we desperatly need a better nr. 2 to push him and be reliable for the 15-20 games reina doesn't play
CB, carlos zambrano ( can play rb, dm and is a gem if we get him)
CB dejan lovren ( fantastic ball playing Cb, only problem is many teams want him as well)
Rw thomas ince or andreas weimann.
Maybe find a hidden gem to replace assaidi.
We don't need a LB as robinson will be back much better after his loan and the euros! Perfect cover for enrique.
I think shelvy will start playing as a holding midfielder as the last 3 games he played for the U21 he played the lucas role and was good. Good back up for dm and he can play as a Cm or Amc! Also I have seen zambrano play there for peru!

Malak

He said realistic not fantasy guys

Replace Marvin Martin or Martinez with psv's mertens happy days

So 3 CB's leave the club and one comes in

I will ship out Carroll Downing Skrtel Assaidi Spearing Pacheco.

Send Suso Shelvey Coates on loan in Premier League team only.

My buys would be
Eriksen/Mkhtirayan/Belhanda for CAM

Indi Martins/De Vrij/Sakho/Dede for CB

Williams is a reported target & I don't disagree with that. He is fierce, vocal & a leader. Ideal Carra's replacement.

Wanyama/Capoue/Clasie for a mobile DM

Mertens/Dzsudzsak/Ben Arfa for the wing

We need to add a very good striker too but if we get one the CAMs & Winger we add immense goal threat to our squad.

We need a great centre back for sure and a powerful quick defensive midfielder. Dede and Wanyama first choice. That could be far fetched though. We'll see.

Davey Sulls

04 Apr 2013 20:48:12
Dede and Eriksen. Sell Skrtel Carroll Downing and Coates. Sick to death of wasting money on bit part players like Borini and Allen. BR has stated he plans to bring in players to take us to the next level and these 2 would do that. The last thing we need is Williams and Andreas Weimann. January was a good window, a step in the right direction, this must continue

04 Apr 2013 15:47:16
hello, ed001 and fellow reds
why are suso and wisdom not getting enough game time?
we are defensively stronger when gj plays lb and wisdom rb and this would cover a lot of errors of gj.
also suso does not get enough minutes and do u think he plays central and we play 433 so does not fit in or is he not 100% fit or there might be another reason?
LIVERBIRD {Ed001's Note - Rodgers prefers Johnson's attacking thrust at right back over Wisdom's ability. That is why Wisdom is not playing. Suso, I just don't get why Suso has not got more time, I liked what he did when he played, he seemed to be a lot more involved than say Sterling. I guess Rodgers just prefers what Sterling brings to the game over what Suso does. I like Sterling, but I think Suso is a much better fit for our system right now.}

Suso to play where Henderson does even the last ten or twenty minutes here or there I think he is pure talent

Maybe Rogers thinks it's due to him sterling wisdom and shelvey not mentally strong enough cheers

Suso a better fit wide right than Sterling ed001?
Or where'd you play Suso?
The Juicer

Suso a better fit wide right than Sterling ed001?
Or where'd you play Suso?
The Juicer {Ed001's Note - anywhere mate, I just think he offers more to the team right now, Sterling is in need of a break, he just looks jaded to me.}

Perhaps Rodgers would rather wait for room in the center for Suso (where he is quite a long way down the pecking order behind Gerrard and Henderson at least) rather than shoe-horning him into an unnatural winger position? A lot of our 'fans' have hardly been supportive of players trying their best to play well out of position recently, don't need to expose yet another player to calls for his head just because he didn't immediately excel out of his natural position

I'm a big fan of Suso but it's hard to know exactly where to play him sometimes. If it's forward in midfield like he prefers it then we need to be in control of games/ahead as he brings nothing defensively and doesn't look like he ever will. {Ed001's Note - I disagree completely, he was constantly getting stuck in and harassing the opposition when he was playing. The whole team needs to press more and higher up the pitch, it is a clear weakness and you can see Suarez asking for help in each match. Suso does that very well, unlike Downing or Sterling, who tend to drop off when we lose possession.}

Anyone else think suso is going to be the next David Silva mata or even deeper alonso!

Afternoon eds with some managers out of contract and desire to manage in the EPL do u think that FSG may hit the panic button and look to bring in a new gaffer personally I hope the don't because I'm sure buck is the man and on the subject of selling up I understand it was april fool joke but could it really happen in the summer is there any feeling it might cheers thanks JON96 {Ed002's Note - Who are you thinking of Jon? Obviously Benitez and Moyes are out of contract.}

I suppose O'Neil in a sense is as well

04 Apr 2013 17:12:02
Jayus I only asked would FSG press the panic button I hated rafa and I really hate moyes I'm only asking would they be after a new manager and are they looking to sell up JON96

I think JON96 has Warnock in mind

Puzzled

In reply to the guy mentioning O'Neill. I am so glad he has been found out. I am from Scotland and my blind Celtic supporting mates think the sun shines from his preverbial. He is a shocking tactical manager that has 11 favourite players and plays them as soon as they are fit even if the cover is better. I see him as a Keegan type that can inspire but has no clue.

He should never be mentioned as possible Liverpool manager again. He is useless.

Gazza

I had christian gross in mind he's quality JON96

Oh I didn't mean him as a potential Liverpool manager, I hate the man and I think him blaming everything at Villa on the owners has now been shown as no-where near as clear cut as he made it out to be. I just meant he's a manager that Jon might be talking about

A lot of talk about Borini today, thought it might be worth pointing out what his injuries actually were. One was a broken foot following a bad tackle in training. The other was a dislocated shoulder following the weight of two people (him and the defending), both with momentum, falling directly onto the join and popping it out. Injuries like these are not long term injuries - they are both the result of very heavy physical blows and the majority of players his age would have suffered both in the same circumstance unless they were particularly well built players (in which case they might have avoided the shoulder injury). They are nothing to do with fitness, nothing that can be prepared against or he could have done something to avoid. He's just been a little unlucky, there is no reason to worry but him being injury prone from the injuries he's had

Can't believe how many people think we should sell half the first team squad. I think that the only business we should be looking at are a few quality additions and keep everyone we have.

I would say 3 or 4 players tops with a centre back the priority. The only players I do see leaving are Carrol and Skertl.

The youth players in the squad have done excellently this year with Wisdom the standout for me. Next year I expect Ibe (who is brilliant), Texeiria, McLaughlin and Dunn to be included in the first team setup.

What we need this season is a strong finish and qualification for europe would be a huge bonus as it would help the progress of the young players in particular.

McB

Pacheco, Spearing and Wilson are all almost definitely going

Surely we still have use for Spearing? Not sure why people say he's definitely leaving - if Lucas is injured or rotated we have nobody to do his job, and Spearing is good at it.

Why do people want Skirts to go, he was our player of the season last year, he has had his moments but I doubt we old get a better player for the money we get in.

I say keep him let Downing go as I still don't think he offers us much in terms of goals and assists, coutino has done more in 3 months than downing in 2 years.

Spearing is definitely leaving because he's been decent but not brilliant in a league below us. We have no use for a player like that and at 25, he's not going to get much better

hello eds, amazing site,
Everyone is hearing rumours about these people,
Sow
Eriksen
Alonso
What are the chances of them coming to Liverpool,
Eriksen have had strong rumours about Liverpool leading the chase for him, what are the chances of him coming?
Sow, Liverpool have been showing interest in him lately, and he has said that he wants to come to Liverpool,
Alonso, well Alonso, Gerrard desperately wants him back, he was a Anfield legend and now rumours of him coming back?!?!
Pease get back to me on what the chances of him coming back are! Thanks! {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Not eriksen or alonso

When was the last time we went more than 2 or 3 months without being linked to Sow?

Abou Diaby.
This lad shown me or rather tought me. all the bones, its functions. and the injuries. rarest to rarest. which can happen in or around our Knee.

Massive Respect.

04 Apr 2013 14:04:13
Did you not follow Kewell, Agger, Torres or Aurelio? lol, I knew way before Diaby rolled into town ;)

YNWA! (Adam)

After spending enormous amount of money.
we have just found some squad players. in the end.
hendo is a pretty decent player. but not a regular starter If you have an erriksson or honda.
allen will never start if we buy another CM to replace gerrard.
Downing will be another squad player if we buy any pacy winger. mertens.
Borini will be injured again. since we already have a front 3.
If BR said we need 4 quality players in summer.
which means all these expensive buys will be a decent squad players?

Agreed, not much you can do about past buys though. You have to look forward. If the players are only good enough as squad players more need to come in. However, I do believe that Henderson & Allen will develop into good players, that will be needed if we get back to competing on several fronts. Which has to be the aim.

Take a Prozac Harry lad, it's not all that bad.

You've mentioned two players there who have never been given a proper run either through injuries or being played out of position.

DaveyBootle

Very pessimistic outlook. Allen can, someday, be as good as Rodgers thinks he is now with more confidence and physical strength. And Henderson already looks like someone who should be a starter for us, what will he look like in three years? Downing is indeed a squad player really but a useful one and Borini is a very good striker, and any top team needs three or four of those. Two or three quality additions to challenge the first team and we're flying.

I saw an article today that said that Malaga are under a European competition embargo over unpaid debts this year. Assuming that the article wasnt rubbish (Daily Mail, it could well have been), what would that mean for their the Spanish League if they are in a European spot? Does it get re-allocated to the next best in Spain, or will there be another opportunity for a team in Europe (like when Liverpool won the CL before they had the rules in place, they made an extra quantification round for us and 1 other). And linking it to us, does this ban also put them under a transfer embargo and does that mean that buying players from them will not be possible e. g. Iturra {Ed002's Note - It is not a new issue - it has been known for months and that is why Chelsea and Real Madrid were in discussions over Isco recently. The Champions League space will go to the next qualifying team. A transfer embargo does not stop players leaving and right now there is no such embargo in any case.}

a web site has got an article that BR may keep Andy Carroll if "he agreed to be used as an impact sub".
What does that mean, if we're getting beat, he comes on in the last 10 minutes and everything is hit long?

Ed002, do you know of any other clubs solid interest in Carroll?
If West Ham don't take up their option, I couldn't see us getting more than £10 mill tops - probably even less - from anyone.

So is this article voicing an apparent BR re-think, or Liverpool's realisation that they've got an un-wanted / over-priced asset?
The Juicer

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of firm interest in Carroll. Interestingly, I have not found any transcript of an interview given by Rodgers about Carroll so it is hard to comment without seeing what was reportedly said in the contect of what was asked.}

I imagine this is part of the bargaining process that makes any potential buyer for AC know that we won't just let him go on the cheap.
It gives the message that we are prepared to sell him but not give him away.
I reckon anything between £15m-£18m will be accepted.
Anything less than that and he will come back and be used as a sub most of the time. {Ed002's Note - I bet all the other clubs are sitting back know thinking long and hard about Liverpool's message.}

Not all clubs will think. but Newcastle will!

DaveyBootle

Ah! Plan B

I'd bet ed002's pension fund that Newcastle will come in with a sub £9 mill offer in Summer.
The Juicer

I really hope that if he is kept for the whole "Plan B" thing he is allowed to play football, and the natural reaction isn't to hoof it desperately, though I often get the impression that's what some fans want.

Surely he's going to west ham? {Ed002's Note - Bony?}

04 Apr 2013 21:09:28
@Ed002 - there is no transcript, it is just a journalist 'whose sources indicate' that Carroll will be retained and go on an intensive summer training program to increase his mobility.

I don't think Borini will be a great player.
there is a differnce between a Striker and Midfielder.
Striker needs to score goals to show the impact. Midfielders are different category.
Allen with his passing rays may become a hit in the long run. probably an year after 2013.
But no club would sit idle if the striker isn't scoring a goal.
I can't see Borini hitting double figures any time soon.

Harry Scousser

persons like you are pissing me off. Borini has not been playing because of injury so how the hell can he hit double figures?!? Just give the guy a chance! Jeez I'm sorry but not even when messi is out injured he can't score goals as well

London red

04 Apr 2013 12:44:17
Another year?. will that be enough dude?
You know what's the differnce betwwen torres and borini. torres is 28 and borini is 22.
both can't score. simple.
we slate torres here day in day out. others slate borini.
he started 11 gmaes. and never looked like the striker we are loking for.
Dude I will bet you. If we recieve a 10 mill offer from any club for borini.
You can see him scoring in other league.

Borini is a good player who has hardly played through injury. These things happen.

The only way he will come good is if he is given time and support from our fans.

Harry - are you a fan?

04 Apr 2013 13:39:51
Nope dude. I am not a fan. I bleed Liverpool. the only club I have ever foloowed. no matter how much we loose or draw or win.
I don't have any shame. infact proud to be a Liverpool Fc fan.
But. I can't see nor. defend all the stuppidity happenining in and around.
If you are wrong. Simply accept it.

Charlie adam was similar like borini. where is he now?
All the fans wanted to give him 2-3 years time.

dude. some players are just brilliant. you need to find them. they will never require even a sec to start firing. and those player are called. quality players.
and that's what we need atleast next year to finally reach in CL. which is what Liverpool FC needed.

If we fail to reach that goal. I don't think neither gerrard nor borini will save our club.

TBH no club would pay 10mil for Borini. My concern with him is the variety and number of injuries he has had despite his tender years. Having said that, he opened his account against Hearts early on the season and his age and wages are perfectly compatible with the club's current philosophy. BR says his attitude is great and he is a workhorse, which is important in terms of defending from the front, as a lost ball upfield can be punished at the other end in a matter of seconds. Perhaps he can be a Kuyt like player for us, let's give the lad a chance, however I feel his first team opportunities may be limited as he will be behind LS and DS in the pecking order.
DT

04 Apr 2013 13:56:49
You call 5 starts and 10 min. Sub appearances 11 starts?
You are not scouse, you barley speak english! English is my 4 th language and I write it better than you!
Borini has also clearly played out of position so even without the injurys he can't be judged before 7-8 games in a row in his real position which is a striker!

Malak

Hold on a second Harry. Your man crush Alonso took 2 years to find form. Does this mean he wasn't a quality player because he didn't hit the ground running? Because your logic on Borini would suggest as much.

You my friend, talk absolute rubbish on a consistent basis on here. Opinions like a yo-yo.

04 Apr 2013 14:13:20
Malak.
You got me wrong. And what's this english all about. I am working and am using my lap and phone. spelling mistakes do happen.
5 appearence and subs.
Y is a player being benched?
two reason.
One. out of form. rather. not good enough.
two. Injury. or resting a player for an important game ahead.

Borini was benched coz. he wasnt contributing annything.
Does this english good enough.
or you wnat a further off the record detailed explanation?

04 Apr 2013 14:21:04
Give the guy a break, his barely legible ramblings about Borini are clearly all he can think to write!

It seems some 'fans' just cannot leave the players alone!

"Does this English good enough" lol. Yes Harry, you nailed it.

Melbourne CFC

How the hell was Charlie Adam similar to Borini?

Charlie Adam was great with dead ball but wasn't the box to box midfield we were looking for. And not to mention a drunkard appearance

Where as Borini is a winger/striker with decent pace and is young and have enough time to develop. He is just having a bad luck with injuries.

Wait a min the guy who said the reasons for being benched is 2. Injuries and then said borini is benched because of poor form? Are you that stupid? He's been out injured! Harry stop being so impatient if you actually watched the game you can see the guy tries really hard he's obv going to be rusty but he's got to be given time and your the personic fans that won't give him that.

London red

04 Apr 2013 14:44:40
Okies.
I quit.
no more post here after.

Borini did get into the Italy squad for the 2012 European champs, yes he didn't play but you've got to be a decent player to get into the Italy squad. We have just got to give him time, judge him after a run of games in the team in his preference position, striker, not on the wing. Just look at Henderson, last season he played on the right and was rubbish, this season he's moved into the middle and is much, much better.

04 Apr 2013 15:33:29
Save me the theatrics! And I hope you stick to your word scouser! Even spells that wrong! Like most of us we post from phones or laptops, its clear for a 5 year old that you are not a scouse! Peace man I will not miss you!

Malak

Just to bring it back to point, anyone who can't see the brilliant vision for runs that Borini actually has isn't a football fan, simple as. Just needs to score early on when he comes back and he'll be a great challenge to when Sturridge is inevitably off-form.

Malak, leave the lad alone. We've taken the hint that you can spell (even though it's not your first language etc etc), so I suggest you leave-out with patronising spelling comments. It might be school for you, mate, but an opinion for others.

DaveyBootle

04 Apr 2013 18:30:10
Davey for months now I have read this site but not posted, harry scousser always talks bad about most players, wants to sell the whole club, fire brendan, only negatvity and today I had enough, you think its unjust I called him out because he calls him self scouse when he aint! But you are happy with the constant slagging off players and manager, totally unrealistic posts and targets and totally unfair comparisons and completly outrageous comments like a yoyo! This day he slags all the other is better, he can keep his opninons for himself because if you read all the banter you will find out 9 out of 10 people know what am talking about! School? What? Opninion? This is mine! I don't stand people who doesn't stand the word support!

Malak

I bet Harry can speak and write English better than you can with his first language Malak.

04 Apr 2013 23:01:34
So what?
English is the 4th language I speak after arabic, french and swedish!
He says he is scouse, his first language should be 'english', some type of english at least :)

04 Apr 2013 12:01:58
did anyone see how many times Carrager was defending Villa players by holding onto their shirts? we were so lucky that the ref did not punish us for that.

it was a poor show from him against Villa, he seems to be out of steam and barely holding onto the opposition by the threads of their shirts

No mate you're mistaken, that was Skrtel

They were doing the same thing. Most defenders do. He wasnt dragging them down or even holding them back by the shirt, the were just getting clutched a bit. Notice how the Villa players never even complained about it?

Shirt pulling /holding happens all the time and the ref does nothing, it's common nowadays, just look at the juventus v celtic game at celtic park, the Italians and juventus are known for there ability to defend well, yet they still hold opposition shirts

04 Apr 2013 16:02:44
Regardless of who gets away with it, we shouldn't do it!
Although Carragher is famed for it!

Who cares we got three points suppose you thought it was a foul when benteke got shot by johnson aswell

Skrtel is infuriating to watch doing it because it's so blatant.
Carra seems to have mastered the ''art?''

RobInRed

I just think if we have players who we consider legends, then they should be able to play in their positions based on their ability and not on using under handed tactics and try and get aay with it,

some day in a crucial match they may do the same and it could cost us.

also JC is a senior player, he should be setting an example for the rest of the players. play by merit and not by deceipt

04 Apr 2013 11:47:34
Hi Eds, I was just wondering, if we did sell Luis Suarez who would we buy as a replacement?

04 Apr 2013 12:24:04
Probably you.

What a great buy Suarez was,
thank you Mr Dalglish.

04 Apr 2013 13:53:37
what a great buy was downing. 3 mill less than Suarez.
Thank you Kenny

Downing was a good player for villa, and how can you compare the price of the two players when they were bought from two different teams in two different leagues

Hasn't Downing been all right this season?

I think that would be thank you Mr Hodgson.

The Irish Rover

Sanchez and gomez would be good to replace Suarez, perhaps throw aubemyang in ther if the money is available

The only way we are convincing a Barcelona forward and a Bayern Munich striker to join us is if we hold their children hostage, and I think the FA would frown on that

04 Apr 2013 11:41:14
Would shaqiri at bayern be a possible summer target? ( hopefully not involved with saurez going to Munich) and what's the situation with mario Gomez? Is he injured or just frozen out? Cheers eds {Ed002's Note - Shaqiri will not be leaving whereas Gomez and a number of others will.}

03 Apr 2013 16:46:52
Hey eds, any interest from Liverpool or anyone else in one of the few Bulgarian prodigies, like Aleksandar Tonev, the Milanovi brothers, Simeon Slavchev, Todor Nedelev, Georgi Kitanov, Nikolay Mihaylov, Ivelin Popov or Stanislav Manolev?

Sorry for the long list,
Drigan {Ed052's Note - Not from Liverpool no. I am not sure if anybody else has. I'm not sure Nikolay Mihaylov would get a WP either}

Nikolay Mihaylov is claiming that Fulham want him according the the BBC

Hello Ed52, nice to have your insight on the page as its been a while.

As you're around, I wanted your opinion and other users on youth players you'd like to see play next season and those who you feelings on Sterling, Suso and Wisdoms performance thus far.

From a personal perspective, I've been greatly impressed with Sterling. I don't get opportunities to watch lots of youth team football, so although I knew the hype I didn't have much evidence to support it. I can see why at youth level, Sterling would rip defences in half. His sheer pace and quick feet would do that alone, but his intelligent movement for one so young is very impressive. Translating this to first team football is no easy task, but before he burnt out/distracted by the hype and contract situation, it's clear to see that he's got an exciting future ahead of him. I hope he keeps his head and finds some confidence to really attack opponents once more. I feel given this break and coming back into a team with Suarez, Coutinho, Suarez etc all playing so well, will give him space and freedom to express himself and attack opponents.

Suso is the player that most feared would lose out to Coutinho, but to me they're both completely players. Suso does have similar control and skill to beat a man, but his range of passing and tempo strikes me as someone who could benefit from playing a little deeper and controlling the tempo of the game. For him to succeed in this, he needs regular football, plus time for more time to adapt and develop his game. A loan, perhaps for 6 months to say Wigan or Southampton, Watford (of they came up) etc would be a really smart move for me. He's get all the benefits of first team football, with the benefit of playing in the EPL. I've got high hopes for him, but imagine its longer term gain.

I'm running out of energy at Wisdom, so all I say is he's a tank. He reminds me of a young and slightly more intelligent Micah Richards. Him and Kelly, will both prove excellent in the future and in my opinion eclipse Smalling and Jones in the national team.

Of the players I hope to see in the setup next year the clear stand outs are McLaughlin, Texeira and Ibe. I also hope
Robinson comes back stronger and more determined and Yesil gets back to fitness, as he's potentially the most natural finisher in our side at any level.

Papa G {Ed052's Note - Hia Papa. Normally, when people write a really long post on youth, its normally, sell them all, get in new youth, Strerling ain't good enough etc etc. However, I really do agree with everything you say there. Sterling will improve because of his rest. Suso needs games, perhaps a loan to Cardiff in the Prem next eaqer would be a good option? And Wisdom is great, and has probably been the most impressive of those 3 youth players in the first team. He will be even better at CB. I also hope Robbo comes back, and really tries hard. He is doing well at Wolves but needs to pull his socks up when he gets back to us, because as I say, he ahs all the talent. And I agree, that Yesil can get a few goals and improve next year. Great post mate.}

Is Yesil expected to be back before the start of next season? Unless he has the majority of the pre-season, he probably won't be playing anywhere near his top until Christmas at least

04 Apr 2013 09:03:08
regarding bentekke. I think he is having an awesome first season as is michu but the real question is whether he can do it in 2nd season when defenders figure out how to nullify him? people already are having debate whether papis demba cisse is having a worse second season or is it jelavic both of whom were on fire last season and our armchair supporters were crying for signing them! even to the point of blaming dalglish for not signign them. so I think cries for players like bentekke are not worthwhile is what we need to understand! we can have a better player for similar cost from over europe just as we signed coutinho for a steal of 8 million!

04 Apr 2013 10:27:23
Dude.
But anything around 5 mill mark is a steal wether he flops or become a hit.
We took a risk of 18 mill on joe allen. what's happening now?. 11 mill on borini. what's happening now?
Since both failed misserably in first seaosn. we are ready to give them another season to proove.
Y can't we buy benteke, He can least be a decent squad player.
If you socre 0 goals and 5 assist for under 5 mill. you are sill a good deal.

04 Apr 2013 10:35:21
Europe?. striker. with goals. under 5 mill?.
the last striker sold. was borini for 11 mill. still haven't hit a decent goal.

04 Apr 2013 10:57:15
£5 million is less than they payed for him so why double post nonsense and another pop at Borini?

Learn to support all the players maybe? Borini is a very hardworking young player, Why jump all over him?

(Since both failed miserably) bit harsh since one hasn't really had a chance this season with injuries and I will bet on it that allen will come back next season and do a hendo.

A striker who provides 5 assists and no goals in a season for £5m is a good deal for you?

04 Apr 2013 11:27:52
Allen will do a hendo.
where does that leaves us?
Y are some people doesn't digest that Liverpool needs CL. not Joe allens fitness and pass compliation ratio.
we had enough blunders in transfer dealings.
Some here keeps on defending it.

04 Apr 2013 12:27:39
samsung,,
probably better than our current flops. whom we are actually struggling to sell.
and since we can given bentetek 2 years time to come good. he will suerly improve his stats.

04 Apr 2013 12:46:10
Harry Scouser, I perfectly share in your sentiments. Benteke is an excellent striker and is better than other strikers we have now, aside Suarez. I've seen Sturidge and others miss numerous chances that Benteke would score blindfolded.

People are raving about Cavani when we clearly lack the fund. A front line of Benteke and Suarez will be a handful for any defence.

The guy is strong, has pace, is quite imposing, can shoot with both feet, is a good header of the ball and most of all, he knows where the net is. So What else do we need? Sign another Borini and give him 3 years to settle in?

If we get Benteke for anything below 12m, then I think it would be a good deal.

Borini should return to Italy before he breaks down completely on the pitch. What's the use of a striker who is never available? Even his injury records before he joined us is quite underwhelming.

summer ins:
Benteke (solid striker) 12m
Nkoulou/Etienne Capoue (can play as CB and DM) 8m
Henrikh Mkhitaryan/Erikson (excellent AM) 15m
Dejan Lovren/Carlos Zambrano (CB) 10m

TOTAL: 45M

Summer Outs:

Skrtel 10m
Coates 5m
Carrager (retires)
Borini (7m)
Spearing (2m)
Andy Carrol (10m)
Wilson (1m)
Pacheco free

TOTAL 35m

Net spend roughly between 10 and 20m.
Quite realistic I think.

04 Apr 2013 13:46:32
To the last poster.
Top draw.
But unfortunatly you can see atleast 15 disagree.

04 Apr 2013 08:53:37
I have just been looking at the oficial LFC site and seen that Villyan Bijev has taken part in a cooking competition with other U-21 players. Does this mean that he now has a Work Permit and is finally at the club or is he just on a flying visit from his loan club IFK Start?
DM2013

I have just been browsing through Bijev's Twitter Account and it appears that he has been training with Liverpool since November and was given a Work Permit just before March 11th. Let's hope that he can get in some U-21 matches before the end of the season.
DM2013

I think he was also a reserve in some of the youth team official fixtures, so he probably got the permit. However, he doesn't seem to be lighting the team on fire thus far.

Drigan

On what do you base that statement Drigan?
A. Moran

I think it means that his food safety and basic food hygiene certificates have finally come through. Can't wait to see whay he'll rustle up!

04 Apr 2013 08:48:06
Eds, do you think we will sell Assaidi or send him out on loan, personally think he's a good player with a lot of potential. He's looked very good in his Europa league appearances!
Cheers! {Ed002's Note - Please try the search function.}

04 Apr 2013 08:24:34
Ed's do u know if lfc are going to sell borini, Allen, skrtel, jones and Carroll? {Ed002's Note - No.}

I would sell all of these along with Henderson, Downing, Shelvey and Johnson.

04 Apr 2013 10:17:08
I would sell you un-named poster!
And iam very happy henderson, downing, shelvy, allen, borini and johnson are Liverpool players next season, and just because you have 0 knowledge or 0 gutts even to sign a name doesn't mean others think like wise!
Only 2 I would want out is B. jones & skrtel!

Henderson will be a great great player for us! So will allen and borini! Even if injuries have ruined their first season!

Malak

04 Apr 2013 10:29:37
I don't think Borini will be a great player.

I agree with un-named poster. Get rid of Henderson, Downing, Shelvey, Johnson, Allen, Skrtel and Borini – and I will leave my name!
Bob the Red

Agree with Malak. Care to reason why you want to sell Henderson, Allen, Borini and Johnson?

The real AG

Reasons to sell:
Henderson - overpriced, not good enough - ask any sunderland supporter.
Allen - overpriced, can't tackle, can't pass forward, can't score - what can he do.
Johnson - the luckiest man in English football
Downing - overpriced, what does he bring to the team?
Shelvey - worst player in the premiership
Borini - second worst player in the premiership.

04 Apr 2013 11:26:30
Why are you guys so keen and happy to be getting rid of players? A bit disrespectful don't you think? Didn't we used to love all our players because they played for us? Borini and Allen haven't even had a whole season with us yet and already you want to get rid of them. Allen will be class when he has a few seasons under his belt, and poor Borini has only had a handful of games for us before so called supporters are calling him rubbish, and wanting us to sell him. You all want players to play for the shirt, however, Jay Spearing probably loves the club more than his wife, and some of the things being said about him were disgusting! We were all crying over the thought of Agger leaving, and then he got that tattoo and stayed and were all gushing over him. Now our defense is looking shaky, people are on about selling him! Downing and Hendo have had great seasons, and Johnson is more times than not, an excellent RB. Shelvey hasn't really had a chance this season, and is clumsy at times, but he is still learning, and in a few seasons he could be the muscle we need in midfield. Our problem at the start of the season was having a squad that was too thin and couldn't cope with all the competitions we were in. why are we trying to get rid of players? We should be concentrating on replacing any that leave and adding just one or two more to add some more depth. I'm not saying all the above mentioned players should be automatic starters, but if our last choice midfielder is Allen, Hendo or Shelvey, we really can't be doing that badly.

Let's wait and see what happens in the summer, and in the meantime, show our club's representation a little more respect and support. I don't know why half these people support LFC, when all they do is complain.

Great reply super! I wish all the so called supporters had the vision you have! I am 100 % with every word you said!
And to bob the red, thanks for leaving a name, now I know never to read or care about your fickle posts!
Its not henderson nor downing that descided their pricetag! and what they bring to the team?, well downing+ henderson this season have 9 goals and 13 assists between them and that's very very good for midfielders who between them had 2 goals and 2 assists last season!
Borini & allen will come good and impatience from "supporters" like you is shocking and disgraceful!
They are both 21 with their whole careers ahead of them and its no excuses but just the fact of the matter that both have been plauged by injury and haven't have the chance to shine under different circumstances.
Shelvy I am unsure about but he is 21 and he runs the show at U21 international level so he will with more 2-3 years under his belt he will do the same for us!
To the poster saying sell shelvy and borini are the worst 2 players in the league then you are an unnamed fool who doesn't even deserve to watch football as you clearly don't understand it! Or you are just a bitter or a manc trolling! Either way get a life.

Super.

Y don't u understand mate. Pur beloved club is under loss and the farther we are away from CL. we are literally screwed.
We are not rest rooms where players come mature,, develop. increast their potential and move on.
we need players who can push us into Cl with sheer quality.
and most of the above players won't fit into it.

What have you seen this season in Allen that makes you think he is a good player? He can't score, he can't tackle, he can't pass forward. What does he do?

Downing and Henderson have had great seasons? WHAT!

04 Apr 2013 12:31:55
Johnson - the luckiest man in English football

this is true. he is the luckiest man in england whose a RB. probably because he is playing for Liverpool.
he would have never been a RB if he was with wigan.
English Team is been domianted by clubs. simple logic. there are some players. who would not even make bench in other national team.

04 Apr 2013 12:50:30
downing and henderson were beter than last eyar horror show.
for 36 mill you could get probably 2 world class player from any possible legaue who would have showed what they are like suarez.
without excuses like. need time.

04 Apr 2013 13:39:22
Downing and henderson are haviing a great season what?

To the being who wrote this I would like to tell you that downing & hendo have more goals and assists than valencia, young, welbeck and nani combined!you look like a fool stop infesting this site with your BS and negativity!

To the poster,

You reason that Henderson and others should actually be sold because they are over-priced! You are a complete teapot!

And as for your other reasons, well I just want to say you are indeed a teapot.

The real AG

Harry we can't just sign 3 40 million pound players with 'sheer quality' who will get us into the champions league, we just can't afford it we have to try and sign good reasonably priced players I. e not 40million, who will help improve our team and get us into the champions league, when will you realise it's never going to happen in 1 or two seasons, look at all the great teams now, they didn't become great in just 1 season it to time. Just be happy we haven't done a Leeds

I know this goes against everything the 'rumours' site stands for, but can people stop linking us with players who've had
1 good season in the EPL?

It happens almost every year. If we sign players who do perform well for a short period of time e.g Carroll, Downing (who I like but was way overpriced) etc, the. we'll be paying over the odds and likely get our fingers burnt.

The examples of last year are Stephen Fletcher, P Cisse, Adebayor (whose different, but never performs with a new contract), Jelavic etc.

This year Bentekke, Michu (who I like, but not for £20 mil), Long (for a brief time), Remy etc, will all prove the same.

What we need to target is these kind of players pre EPL, e.g Coutinho. Players that come in on a realistic fee and wage. Therefore not burdening them with the pressure it induces and giving them time and the correct platform to produce.

Fingers crossed our revamped scouting time, plus BR and his staff will see this. As in all honesty they need to produce miracles to find the kind of quality we need in defence and CDM, on our budget.

Papa G

So is your plan to sign players who'll be very expensive as they proved themselves consistently over a number of seasons, or to buy players that have had a bad season?

I agreed with this post, we are always linked with players that play well with their clubs when their first brought to EPL, in all honesty, they looked good because their team under performed which made them seem so! I too would love most of the players we are linked to but have faith in BR and co! Have faith too!

Jimerny cricket

Also stop linking us with world class players cause that's just as stupid!

04 Apr 2013 10:31:14
I understand. But give one good name, striker, who is available prooven under 5 mill?.
Probably its only benteke. if villa goes down.
We can take a gamble. but not paying 20 mill on benteke. and sit and give them time after time after time to proove themself.

I wrote the original post. I wasn't implying we should buy world class talent, I want us to buy players who are talented, but perhaps off the radar a little. Or players like Sturridge, Coutinho etc whoaren't working out at their current clubs but are clearly talented.

A club liike PSG for example with Gameiro, may prove to be a similar aquisition.

Get over it! He won't be £5 million! Regardless of whether or not Villa get relegated! His wages will be sustainable, Villa are a decent sized club!

They won't need to sell, which drives the price down in relegation clubs.

Now he may leave cheaper if he wants to hand in a transfer request, but it still won't be £5 million, okay?

Hey eds I was just wondering if you could give us a summary about what's going on with Assaidi? I find it hard to believe that Rodgers would buy him and then not play him and get rid of him straight away, seems a bit odd, could you shed some light on the situation please? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function please.}

Ed001, is there anyone in our current squad that you think is over-rated? Is so, who and why? {Ed001's Note - Johnson, because, while he has fantastic ability, he just doesn't use his head at all and can be lazy. That is the one who instantly springs to mind.}

Sorry ed but I disagree {Ed001's Note - that's ok, it is only an opinion. Kind of mixed anyway, as he is top class ability wise, it is just mentally that he is a problem. Far too often he is caught ball watching and a good pass to him will go out of play because he wasn't moving until after it is played. He is even more prone to it defensively, not just getting caught upfield and not tracking back either. I mean when he is back and just not getting into position and watching what is happening around him. It happens far too often for my liking, I much prefer Kelly at right back.}

04 Apr 2013 07:46:37
I agree with you here ed, I think his decision making is very often poor-dont know when to pass a ball and when not to.
Enrique sometimes suffers from this problem. This is not a dig at any player but just an observation.

This makes me laugh, i've said simliar for weeks and got shot down!
He frustrates me no end, balls into the boz should be better quality.

There was a moment verses Villa, he was very much out of position, the ball came into the winger, which meant Carragher had to come across and cover and G. J ran in to cover Carragher. I think Benteke had a shot from it, although over it was piss poor for the England no1.

You mean no. 2

Glen Johnson is a beast going forward. an attacking talent.
But let's face it. he is awful defending. simply awful.
I would rather put him as a RW like nani or valencia.
After 4 odd years with Liverpool and prior to it with pompy. Johnson is still awful in defending.
No excuse for improvment and learning time.

People see what they want to see as regards Johnson who in my opinion is the best right back in league.
To WelshBoyDave, did you not notice that Carra was at fault for Villa's goal.
The back line pushed up and Carra as he does? Went back in goalside and played them onside from what was just a punt to the edge of the box.
Not having a go at Carra because that's what he does, he get's goalside but it did cause us to concede.
But people just harp on about Johnson, which to my mind shows a lack of understanding.
We need to play a high line and are disjointed with Carra or Skyrtel in the side.

Glen Johnson seems to have lost his spark in the LFC jersey, he has proved more useless than Downing while downing was having a bad run of form.
GJ runs into good positions but doesn't even get a proper cross in, how many goals have we leaked where GJ was involved in the defending.

i think it is time GJ gets to spend some time on the bench as he is not producing any quality in either defence or attack

Sell him you might even get 20 million there is better out there he cost so many goals this season by falling asleep he is a right winger but can't defend only reason he wants to play right back is so he gets his game England

I find it interesting that Downing playing on the right side with GJ is sometimes highlighted in his own performances for tracking back and his defensive work. Perhaps he's working that hard to cover GJ's arse when he gets lost going forward and too lazy to track back himself. I think Johnson doesn't produce enough to warrant that much offensive liberty personally ie. poor decision making and end product crosses. He also greatly hampers the ability of our wingers to do their job without worrying about his.

04 Apr 2013 14:30:35
Kidmillions, were there not 3 defenders around Benteke and Gabby?

I think with 3 players and the most route 1 stuff you will ever see, its a collective failing, rather than being able to blame any individual!

If they don't drop back, they are clean through onside with no defenders left.

I agree though, that people see what they want to see with regards to Johnson!

Personally I see bags of technical ability, with about zero application or defensive positional sense!

The odd cracker doesn't cancel out numerous defensive mistakes for me,

04 Apr 2013 14:34:49
As you say kidmillions, its all opinion based!

Personally, I think people are taken in by his flicks and nice touch, failing to see the numerous flaws in his game.

Which I think shows a lack of proper understanding.

You can almost guarentee, when Johnson is 1 on 1 with a full back, no ball will be delivered into the box, or if it does it will not trouble the first man!

Like I said, I think he's got bags of technical ability, so why do we only see it once or twice a year?

He's not nearly as consistent as people make out, and there are far far better more complete full backs in the league.

Hi eds the other day, one of you said that Bayern Munich have a 200m transfer kitty in the summer?! Where did they get all that money from, especially with the FFP rules?

Keith YNWA {Ed002's Note - I really don't want to explain the BM finances on the Liverpool page.}
