Heard Liverpool are going to make a move for Llorente therefore Carroll is off.

I would adjust your ears

This spanish guy has said some not very flattering things about doubt he would want to ply his trade at anfield any time soon

I believe 90% of people using dis site are gonna be suprised to find that for the majority of our games next season Lucas and Allen are in fact gonna be competing for the same spot in the team, people seem to think lucas will defend, gerrard will attack and allen will link, last season for swansea Allen was d most defensive of the midfield 3, with leon britton playing as a deep lying playmaker( which i feel gerrard and adam wiil play) and sigurdsson playin as an attacking midfielder( which i feel dempsey and henderson wiil play) leaving lucas and Allen comprting fot d most defensive role of the three, obviousely players will play in more than 1 position and their will be rotation and injuries but i feel in a big game with a fully fit squad, Lucas and Allen dont both start

DOL

No chance, otherwise why the hell would we waste £15m on Joe Allen (not having a go, decent player) because Lucas is miles better! Allen's competition will be hendo and jonjo

I only believe people that write "this" and not "dis"

If so then Allen will Loooose big time, Lucas is the best in that position in the EPL and owns the no5 Yellow and Blue jersey for Brazil.

we will play 4222 system.

....................Walcott(CF)
....................................Suarez(RWF)
.....Kaka(LAM)...Gerrard (C-AM)
.............Allen(LCM), Lucas(RCM)
..JE...........DA.............MS.............GJ..

Allen only moved back to def mid to accommodate sigurdsson. Seriously do some research before posting utter rubbish

Dempsey will be bought as a forward, who will be called back into the midfield ina time of injury crisis, in my opinion. otherwise why would we sign him ?
derryred

So u think BR is paying 15m for Allen to play him in a different position than he did at swansea? they will only play together when BR is being cautious of our opponent

DOL

Allen will be there to complement our net captain, Lucas.

If that statement below about sterling to tottenham in exchange for caulker is true there is something wrong already why give up one of the brightest talents in England for a decent centre back we've already got them.

Toad

He'll not be sold as he's seen as too important to the future plans of the club mate.

Can anyone tell me why there are so many people suggesting that Shelvey is to go on loan or as part of a loan deal for Allen? Hasn't He just signed a new contract? And being the best performer on tour I think he is almost ready to play regular first team action? Surely he would better learning from Stevie G the next few years then at Swansea or championship club?
boysie-red

We are trying to get rid of Adam not Jonjo.

You are right jonjo been the best one. i just hope rodgers sees that too.

The comments here will be very interesting if we make a disastrous start to the season. Which seems very likely.
Dislike as much as you like. I have not seen anything to give a positive view.There are way too many issues.
Getting an impression of what is to come is relatively easy.
Perhaps things will work out for the best.
I very much doubt it.

Red Che

Would you like a hug, Red Che?

I recall man city had nothing but distractions and issues all last season and were the prem champs.

Hi eds, just read that in the game v gomel, Borini only touched the ball 8 times... This is shocking, it's like a million quid for each touch. You'd think first game he'd try make an impression...

So we signed him for 1 game only , if thats the case then make sure we dont sign anyone else.

Its not his fault he hardly eveer recieved the ball

This statement is comical... A striker especially a loan striker who leads the line as Borini did will hardly touch the ball in a game. This is in contrast to a deep lying striker examples being Rooney/Tevez/Suarez etc. but still, strikers tend to touch the ball the least amount of times in a game (outfield).

Couldn't be because the midfield either missed the pass or were disposessed before he could receive the ball, I thought he did ok considering it was the first time he had played with the majority of th players on the field if u must criticize look no further than the midfield they were terrible on the night, but I have no doubt they will be better on Thursday, it's preseason have some patience

Towards the end of the game he had a great run into the box Torres style and he he had went for a chip instead of hard and low everyone would be talking about his class. I don't know if he will be able to put it together to become truely world class but he has all of the attributes to be absolutly class. To go along with his pure desire I would think that he will force himself over the hump. There are no guarantees in life but it is obvious he has the heart and the skill.

Coley

Wow, imagine when he's played 200 games for us - each touch will have been worth about 15p. Bargain.

cozinoz

Especially a loan striker? what was that comment about?

Mate, this post is just a complete nonsense.

I am sure he/she meant lone - a single striker, people with half a brain would of known what the poster was talking about. And the statement is true as a football analyst/coach.

04 Aug 2012 22:35:26
is a deal for Clint Dempsey still on the cards? Are we any further into negotiations with Fulham about him? {Ed002's Note - It is being worked.}

Can't wait to see Clint make a play in Anfields end zone

People are talking of Raheem Sterling being homesick, I follow him and his girlfriend on twitter (genuine accounts) and they both seem happy where they are, don't know why a seemingly happy young couple would up sticks and move suddenly..

Yeah dunno where the rumours come from, his family just moved to Liverpool he said that in a recent interview...

It's amazing what you can learn about a person in 140 charecters, now you can tell whether there happy in their lives !!! lol, nearly heard it all now this summer, but i'm sure with tomorrow there will be more utter fantasy come through the posts !! lol,

To the last poster, it isn't from 1 tweet, I've followed them for a long time and you can learn alot from what people say on their various pages. A lot of rumours come off twitter, which I don't believe but this isn't a rumour, keep your thoughts to yourself in future. person.

hi eds do you know of any interest in butland from us or anyone else? been a admirer of his all season and think he is ready to step up to the premiership? {Ed002's Note - I don't.}

Butland ready for pl? have u seen the Olympics? {Ed052's Note -Haha, I agree mate - pressure maybe?}

04 Aug 2012 22:19:01
When I played footy, the greedy, cocky player in the team always messed up when the heat was on.
True with Sturridge aswell.

Could not agree more, plus free kick in extra time, never in the correct position for a left footer to strike, yet the big i am sturridge has to take it.
one of the most over rated players in the world along with ibrahimovic!

Bit harsh, but I'm pretty sure you'll find that is was Ramsey that missed the penalty that mattered. Why they let him take it considering how poor his first was I don't know..

Bellamy should have taken bot pens all day long

Agree with the greedy cocky player bit but will say this in his defense.. he got over meningitis to play for GB.. whereas Bale faked an injury to get out of it!..
Mind you.. noone ever scores a pen wen shimmying about n being flash!
ItsNotRocketScience

Did Ramsey's penalty lose the game then....NO

Sturridge's run up says everything about him as a footballer. Cocky, arrogant and just can't do the simple thing.
How are we even remotely linked to him?

Joe

04 Aug 2012 22:16:56
Thank you Sturridge!! Allen signing sooner!

Taster123

04 Aug 2012 22:16:33
I really hope we don't sign Sturridge!

He did a poor pen but I've been watching him and he's a talent, good touch, very strong and can score. I think he would do well for us if we can get him.

Paul the red

Seriously Love LFC to bits so hope this Egotistical ,greedy arrogant person comes no were near our team.If he does forget pass and move it will be pass and sturridge loses the ball.

what makes me laugh is we have supporters who state Allen is not worth 15 m but would sign sturridge who will be 18-25m .Rather spearing plays upfront

^ He's got an ego bigger than his football boot's! Bad attitude problem! He'd make few allies at Anfield!

04 Aug 2012 22:16:25
Glad team GB are finally out.

Now let's finalise the signing of Allen.

04 Aug 2012 22:16:19
Very Happy to see Team GB out of Olympic. now their fan can't disrespect other country's national anthem.

red-suarez

Please don't brush all of them the same. there is a small section booing the anthem which is not representative of everyone in GB. there are a**eholes in all countries mate.

04 Aug 2012 22:14:58
Great Britain eliminated. We sign Allen yet?

I was sure I saw BR run on the pitch as soon as the final whistle sounded - and Allen signed it.

04 Aug 2012 22:14:46
if points were awarded for fans full of gloom and doom liverpool would be top- sell the club, yeah like so many people were there to save us, spend millions on one player doesnt matter they may want CL football or 200 grand a week yeah lets bankrupt the club like the previous owners please fellow fans if you dont like the way its run then liverpool are offering free transfers to other clubs i like most fans want the club back to the top but im also happy its being done in a sensible manner

rob

Great post mate.although we have probably our worst squad since souness we will improve.We have the making of a really good young team if it means we wait on transfers for the right players then we wait, i do not want to see another player put on our jersey who does not want to be here for the club but for the wages.
We are an amazing team who have gone through some bad years but we are coming through the tunnel and the future looks BRight.Classy manager and in time classy football all we need is classy players on and off the pitch

04 Aug 2012 22:14:39
Now we can sign Allen :-) Redevon

04 Aug 2012 21:47:22
Ed's just wondering how much are we paying to sign joe Allen he's average at best I'd much rather keep Charlie Adam and get another attacker instead.just a point to make with regards Agger or skrtel leaving,I think Seb Coates is ready to step in and play he's gonna be a beast of a player for Liverpool.

Disagree button just doesn't do this post justice. I would personally drive Adam to any club willing to take him lol

Re Joe Allen; You're 'aving a laugh boy. I'm not going to slag off Charlie but there's no comparison. We need both and the likes of Seb Coates who you're right about. Our squad needs to have more quality next year, and when you compare what we could have with what we had 12-18 months ago (Degan, Voronin, Itandje, El Zhar, Poulsen, Riera, Babel, Aquilani, Kuuyt, Darby, etc.)....Some might argue Riera, Kuuyt and Babel shouldn't be included in this list but none of these were really top-notch.
Next season's squad could include (if rumours are correct);
JOE ALLEN, CLINT DEMPSEY, GASTON RAMIREZ, ADAM JOHNSON and others to replace CARROLL, SPEARING, ECCLESTONE etc.
Alongside SUSO, STERLING, ADORJAN, WISDOM etc. plus our established players; REINA, JOHNSON, AGGER, SKIRTEL, ENRIQUE, HENDERSON, GERRARD, ADAM, LUCAS, SHELVEY, SUAREZ, BORINI, DOWNING, etc. we should be better equipped to challenge.
I've left a few ?'s depending on who we sell (e.g. Carroll will have to be replaced and Agger/Skirtel/Johnson ...if sold)
To be honest, nobody knows who'll be sold/bought...including Brendan. My opinion is no more valid than most others on here but I'd love to see a Liverpool squad which can both compete and grow together (not easy when you consider the money the top 3-5 have).
We have the bones of a good squad but we can't afford to lose the likes of Sterling to tiny little clubs like Tottingham. They can take our Coles and Aquilanis. They can even try to chase our targets. But hands off Raheem.
Gotta go now.....but a final word. Hope the fans and players show the same commitment as the GB Olympic team next season. I'd have Jessica Ennis and Mo Farrah in our squad at the drop of a hat (wish Charlie Adam had Jessica's six-pack!). I love my country but I love my football Club first....but if it was a toss-up between a current LFC player and an Olympian I'd say "Hello Jessica, make yourself at home.yo think you're the quickest I can .......no,sorry. Too much!)
I've gone off subject due to my old pal John Smith.)

hi eds ive heard one of the rumours is that were after david villa as the big loan move how much of this is true? {Ed002's Note - No idea.}

04 Aug 2012 21:45:26
First manager will sack in 2012 De matteo .

Thats only if his luck runs out

Either Di Matteo or AVB.

I hope so he is excruciatingly defensive. really, i understand why he does it against barcelona but then i see him doing it against teams like arsenal, us, newcastle, benfica and spurs. teams who you would think chelsea have a fais chance in beatin. i think that swansea play the way they played on limited funds and then chelsea have all of the money in the world to spend and he plays like that. good riddance. football doesn't need him.
sorry for the rant.
derryred

I think Di Matteo could struggle.
You cant go from playing 11 at the back to all out attack in 6 months.

04 Aug 2012 21:09:04
Our next bit of business should be a new left back to replace Enrique, not a back up. I admit the first half of the season but the second was shocking (worse than dosenna, he was that bad) he can't deal with players with pace, and the game against Gomel he was exactly the same (admit that no one had a good game). I would love us to sign baines

Worse than dosenna? i want to put words the ed's will never allow us to, shame theres not a section for it for when posts like this happen, ridiculous over slating of a player who had as good a season as anyone in what was a disasterous season for the club and you have a right old go at someone in his first season at the club who was probably the best performer out of the new boys, person !

Wouldn't mind Baines but when we got Enrique we was interested in Baines and he wasn't interested in us. What about Shaw from the saints, young quality attacking left back can also play left midfield. Redevon

Enrique is quality got be one of the best left backs in the league. I would happily have him back mate.

I doubt we'll get Baines, but you're spot on about Enrique. What summed it all up for me was (I think it was the FA Cup Final?) the match against Chelsea where Ramires just humiliated him all game, both in strength and pace. Ramires is obviously a very good player, but he absolutely destroyed Enrique and if I remember correctly he got a goal due to Enrique's dreadful play.

You say ramires embaressed enrique so thats terrible? apparently john terry is one of the best centre halfs in the league and Andy carroll of all forwards made him look utterly ridiculous at Anfield only 3 days after that FA cup final, so that means nowt im afraid ! enrique is quality,

Enrique is average defensively, sloppy, lacks concentration and always passes backwards or forwards but gives the ball away. competition would get the best outta him

I'm pretty sure that our left-back being outplayed doesn't mean 'nowt', and actually points towards the fact that he isn't good enough. Ramires is a terrific player, but as a natural CM certainly isn't the quickest or best Enrique is going to come up against- especially with the additions of other teams in the transfer market. Your point about John Terry holds no validity; John Terry is a good CB in the same way that Carragher is a good CB. He possesses a tremendous amount of experience and football intelligence, but physically he's past it. Andy Carroll made him look ridiculous because he is young, very strong, and in that particular match was in amazing form.

Have to disagree with the last post.With the possible exception of Yaya, Ramires was by far the best midfield performer in premiership last season.It's players like Ramires we need to be unearthing.
Any left-back would struggle to contain him not just Enrique.When you say he's not the quickest or the best Enrique will come up against,i think he probably is !! B

" Ramires is a terrific player, but as a natural CM certainly isn't the quickest"
ARE YOU BLIND??
Ramires is one of the quickest, if not, the quickest player in the premiership.
jonnybarnes89-90

Absolutely no way is Ramires one of the quickest, especially not THE quickest in the league... Are YOU blind? And I agree with the fact Yaya and Ramires were probably the two best midfielders last season- where did I say he wasn't brilliant? My point is that there are quicker players, and stronger players, often individually. Ramires has a bit of both which makes him a very well-rounded player, and what I am saying is that Enrique should be able to cope. To say 'aaah well, he was up against a decent player' is not the sort of attitude that is going to get us back on top.

Please name me a quicker central midfielder than Ramires and i'll eat this laptop !! B {Ed052's Note - You could argue both Bellamy and Walcott can play central Mid}

Perhaps if you'd been reading my posts correctly rather than focusing on eating your laptop (which there really is no need to do by the way), then you'd infer that I'm referring to natural wingers more than CMs. I'm not saying Ramires isn't quick, I'm saying that he's not the quickest PLAYER Enrique will come up against... Quicker players just to name a few include Nani, Walcot, Gervinho, Adam Johnson, Sturridge... The list goes on. You will, however, notice that they are wingers, but just to fulfill your request, I'll go with Moussa Sissoko.

04 Aug 2012 21:07:26
Allen doesnt look that great at all! waste of money yet again

Allen had looked neat, looks good on an off the ball! Ramsey and Cleverley have looked sooo poor. Id rather have Allen over them any day!

Nick

No, yet he looked brilliant the other night when gb won 3-1 according to most of you people on here, make up your minds and stop judging players on what the score is during the game their playing in

Mid table player

Hes brilliant. He does the stuff that often doesnt get rewarded, very much like lucas in that respect. I can see Allen, Henderson and Shelvey all playing in the midfield for us and becoming the best three in the league. Abit like when we had alonso, masc and gerrard a few years ago.

Allen not worth 15million, never gonna to be a world beater

04 Aug 2012 20:58:17
Eds, just wondering what you think about this. I read somewhere that when Arsenal complete the deal
for santi carzola then Theo Walcott will sign for us in a deal worth £13.75 million with add ons
pushing the fee to £15 million.

Nub

Do You people seriously think wallcot would improve our team? Hes average at best.

Everyone's been moaning about how bad Henderson is or how badly Allen's been performing for Team GB yet have failed to notice/mention how awful Arsenal and Man United's equivalents in Aaron Ramsey and Tom Cleverley have been... Give me Hendo and Allen any day!

Exactly wat i was thinking. poeple complain about hendo passing back all the time, cleverley doesnt know any other pass then pass back

My butcher gets his Argentine ribs from the same farmer who raises Messi's personal herd and my butcher has been told that Messi will sign over the rights of his first-born son to Liverpool!

There's bound to be a few people who don't understand this is a joke.

No, it's just not a funny joke...

Hi any of the eds could suggest possibility of this as I mean if LFC management thinking about this. How about John Flanagan playing as CDM backup for Lucas. IMO he is better tackler and marker than Spearing with good enough passing ability. With Glen Johnson and Kelly as RBs it would be better if we transform him at least temporarily as CDM backup if/when Spearing is sold and concentrate our efforts on other priorities. If it doesn't workout we can try to bring someone in January. In case of injuries he can also cover up RB and LB. I think this is the correct use of his talents just like Philip Neville of Everton.

AJ

Do people not understand that you need positional awareness in football? That's why most (not all) players play one position for their while careers.

He's never played there, would be a huge risk.

- Something Red -

May be wrong here but am pretty sure he was utilised in a defensive midfield role for the reserves last season though admittedly I think that was to improve his game understanding not necessarily to play there long term. In any case he may be able to do that job adequately but prob the signing of Allen would mean we had two players who could cover that position before anyone else. Little bit drunk and suddenly forgot what I am on about!

Cheers
Greggers

Whilst I disagree with playing Flanagan as CDM, it wouldn't be a huge risk at all to be honest; he's still a professional footballer capable of learning, developing and improving, and really couldn't do any worse than Spearing. But no, I don't think there's much point in using him there.

Hello Henderson can cover Lucas' place, showed us all how good he is defensively...

I think you've raised a decent point. I could definately see Flanagan playing there, and with effect.

I know he is not natural there and I would honestly prefer a good quality natural back up there. But we have bigger things to concentrate and Lucas even though he had a bad injury, he is generally very fit and can sustain long. Its not something like Gerrard, Agger, Johnson who gets injured training or running. Its just a nasty clash with Mata. Regarding Flanagan, he got natural ability to tackle and mark and push people off the ball none of which spearing posses who just runs along with attacker. Whilst Flanagan does not posses good pass to attack he can just quickly get rid of the ball to people who can do that. And this is just temporary and only in games like cup ones. With our RB quite bulked up with quality and also McLaughlin who looked a lot better for his age I believe this is a good idea to utilize his talents for the team. Its not about others like Henderson can do or not. Its like utilizing the assets we have instead of buying them when there is no need to at least until we know it is complete no go while others can play the roles they prefer.

AJ {Ed049's Note - I guess he did play in that position for the reserves last season.}

04 Aug 2012 20:40:24
Leandro Damiao is such a class player. Would be a great replacement for Carroll. Cant see it happening though..

04 Aug 2012 20:35:40
ED... If we sell Carroll, can you see us putting in a cheeky bid for Hulk? Him and Suarez wud be awesome! Thanks.

Joe allen will be another waste of 15 mil, to go along with henderson and downing. How is this guy worth more then 5 mil? And what will he bring to the team that we dont already have? We need pace creativity and flair not another safe, simple joe! RedTurk

You've left big Andy out, Redturk mate. Don't tell me you think big Andy was a good buy? Joe Allen hasn't even signed for us yet.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

In allen he is buying a player who will need no coaching to play the way rodgers wants.

You didn't enjoy your tea then.

Mighty reds

Joe will control the midfield like he has done all season. He keeps the ball and moves it further up the pitch. If you watched Gomel we didn't have a player like that and we desperately need one if we want to play this type of football. Lucas, Allen, Gerrard in midfield is impressive as it has the defensive side along with the attacking prowess of Gerrard. We obviously need flair like you said which is why we are pursuing Dempsey and Ramirez. There is also a "major loan signing" possibility which will probably add flair too but Allen in my opinion, is a necessity.

BthekingB

Do you even know where he will play in the team

Yeah rubbish shot by Downing on Thursday night. Majority of the fans were moaning that we hadn't got a backup for Lucas. Allen can do that job albeit hopefully not required, so that they both can play in the midfield three with Gerrard (Shelvey being his backup). Agree that we need one possibly two more players for the attacking three. Redevon

I would actually be more worried about a player if RedTurk didn't have anything bad to say about them.

Gman82

Just my view but last season we were missing a piece to the puzzle. I'm not saying Allen is going to turn us into a league title team but with Lucas providing the link between defence and midfield I thi k an 'Allen' is exactly what we need to provide a link with the the attack, gerrard can't do it all so I honestly think that with time coaching etc gerrard Allen and Lucas could be formidable, downing providing the width and pace on either Wing interchanging with Suarez and borini down the middle, nice balance? Thoughts?!
Lfcmatt

If we get allen..we should sell adam and spearing...gerrard, lucas, hendo, allen and shelvey enough....
need a striker up front..
my guess..matias suarez...

Someone explain how he is worth more then £5 mil? He realy is average and will be found out at liverpool, he is a worse version of lucas can you imagine 2 of the same types of players in midfield we will surely be a mid table team if we are going to carry on buying players like this after 1 season of playing above average, people can talk about his passing acuracy all day but most of his passes are backwards and sideways, xavi and iniesta try trough balls and they thread balls through into goalscoring chances. This guy allen is a weaker lucas. RedTurk

Rubbish shot by downing but won us the game hes already doing better than he did last year.haha

Spot on RedTurk, decent player, but offers very little creativity, mid-table player. If you're all gonna bang on about passing accuracy, why don't we sign leon britton while were at it? Hope he does well and improves, good luck to the lad though, I will back him.

Two things - first Joe Allen is not worth of 15m as he is not the creative midfielder who can create deadly penetration. he is good and definitely NOT better than Adam and Hendo. Second, i am really sick of these comments "he knows Rodgers' style" - then why don't we get the entire swansea squad. I know the same lot of fans who were euphoric with Adam and Hendo's signings are now creating hype out of JA. Next summer perhaps you will get another player and will be willing pay over the odds to replace JA. I still hope JA becomes a success. but please do not create hype and let's hope we are not robbed by swansea.

04 Aug 2012 19:34:30
Close relation works within the club, give me this info:-

Allen...should be a done deal after GB exit Olympics but clubs still haggling over price. He believes Liverpool will eventually give in to the 15m asking price

Dempsey...deal was basically done until news was apparently posted about it on an American website, now fulham are straggling as their a bit miffed about the whole thing

Adebeyor....we have no interest in the player but are quietly happy to be linked as senior officials at the club are annoyed that spurs are always linked to our targets and sterling etc

Pacheco will be sold if a bidder is found but then Apart from from carroll and loan deals for younger players no Other players will be released

The Sharpshooter

04 Aug 2012 19:28:47
The loan signings could be Affelay for 6 months and Callejon for a season. {Ed002's Note - Twitter I am guessing.}

Now Rodgers has come out and said he wants us to sign someone on loan, even if it doesn't happen we all know Macca was right, it's so hard to come out and say who because up until the player has signed it can all change, I just wish more people knew this.

05 Aug 2012 12:51:40
Yep OP. And I can't remember the last time we loaned someone.

If it was a guess - It was pretty out there!

It's been a long time since I doubted Macca.

I did at first, but anyone would be sceptical who was new to the site.

He constantly delivers. Cheers Macca.

He keeps the fans in the loop - yet flies below the mainstream radar. He's a football rumours hero to the common man.

Just thinking too - Macca was saying we were after a loan deal in Jan - and now we're chasing more loan deals in the summer - seems to suggest we have jacked in the big money approach - at least till sales are made... quite a few papers have said similar things about our ins depending on sales - and not having a lot to spend - and there does seems to be an element of truth to that appraisal of the situation.

As I said, loans just aren't usually our style.

Personally, I'm glad to see us getting the ship in order financially - and am not remotely concerned if this is the approach. I'm happy about it actually. People have short memories it seems....

I posted the other day about the squad and why I'm not concerned. So the doom-mongerers can find that post and read it before they rail at me for answers about how/why I'm optimistic. Why I feel this way is there. Not gonna get in that lengthy explanation again.

Cut wages. Improve squad.

Sounds good to me.

Again. Cheers Macca and eds - I appreciate your work. Like William Wallace payed homage to Scotland - I pay homage to thee.

Even when we've had our worst disagreements over tactics and wars over transfer policy.....

Even when someone says Downing is sh*te and writes misleading statements regarding Lucas' passing range.....

Even when someone tries to tell me that Rafa should come back - and that Dirk's first touch is excellent.....

(the first guy is usually Dirk btw - and the second guy is usually Rafa. lol.)

Even in those moments of 'tearing hair out frustration', when I swear to myself I WILL NEVER GO BACK......

Like the prodigal son - I will always bow my head and humbly return - having learned more of myself and my brother; 'Man'.

This really is the best site on the 'net for LFC junkies - and has the best info

- I used to trawl through a lot of sites, until I realised there is little out there that escapes these hallowed pages.

If anyone sees anything interesting though - or makes a shrewd observation through the dredges of rubbish online - They seem to write it here.

Lots of good posts and posters here imo - and much better than the regurgitated stuff that reels off the Newsnow 'blogosphere' - or whatever the kids that write there call it.

BJH YNWA (Even RedTurk is good for a laugh....)

ps - As refreshing as the smell of warm coffee - caught in a fresh spring breeze.

So full of warmth, the soothing aromatic comforts of home, the embrace of your first love....

Thats RedTurk.

Keep up the good work folks.

Malaga spokesperson has been quoted that Salomon Rondon is staying in Spain and having contract talks to join another team. The agent of Salomon Rondon had previously been quoted that chavs spurs and LFC are interested. Transfer fee ten million euros. Redevon

Kaka will come in on loan as an attacking option. Only if modric arrives in madrid. Real will pay 50% of wages

Kaka is not the player he was. In fact he's kaka.

04 Aug 2012 18:37:05
Higuiain is not going to join, nor is saldodo, our best signing, if we sign him will be gaston Ramirez. BR looking to sign for more players and maybe a loan signing. Probably
Allen
Dempsey
A decent forward
A back up LB
Loan will be one of affelay/sahin/sturridge.

Cheers

Agger will leave Liverpool for either Real or Barca. He doesnt want to go to another EPL club.However, the only stumbling block is the new proposed increase in taxes in Spain and in particular the big hike to 56 % in Catalan.

Dont they offer wages after tax {Ed002's Note - Please don't go there.}

Wages before tax? {Ed002's Note - Pearls Before Swine.}

Is Catalan the Spanish Matalan?

Steak before chips?

I before E...........accept after Si ! ;)

Jam before cream?

04 Aug 2012 18:25:15
Ed there's reports that we are talking to Agger regarding a contract extension, can you confirm if this is true?

Just heard in my local GAA club Bernard brogan and liverpool mentioned in the same sentence.. Could we sign the dublin all star? Or could he just be a fan, or did I over hear half a conversation? Only time will tell! ;)

Dublad

It probably was bernard brogan will never join liverpool

Judging by the match, the Dubs are useless and even alan or Bernard should jump at the chance or joining the pool.

85k with dediciated dublin fans croker or... In Anfield and I would be one of them who wonder.....

Liverpool are currently putting finishing touches to the deal to sign 22-year old mexican winger, Hector Herrera who currently plays for Pachuca. Our scouts have been to see the lad at Olympics as Andrea Fassi, Pachuca's president revealed ealier and they were very impressed with what they. United are also said tointerested but it's Liverpool who seems to have won the race to sign him. His team mate, Marco Bueno, on the other hand won't move this summer. He scored a goal today to cement Mexico victory over Senegal I look forward to seeing Hector dazzle in red. Dan.

Lad you are a clown, why make crap like that up just because you have just seen him play at the olympics that is pure MOTD fever.

04 Aug 2012 17:56:32
4th june over, squad still looks weak. Weaker than last season. Dirk kuyt, maxi and aquilani sold only borini bought. 14 more days left for d season to begin.

H*** it's only June? I'm way too far ahead in thinking it August!

Ed, Hector Herrera looks a player. Do LFC still have any interest in him? And what is the situation regards his compatriot Marco Buena? {Ed002's Note - No and I don't know.}

04 Aug 2012 17:14:44
Just heard we're prepared to go all out for Sniedger. Player would prefer a move to Manchester but both sides have lost interest and he is keen to make a name for himself in England. However Inter seem reluctant to sell. Things may progress next week.
Cheers,

If he prefers a move to manchester i wouldnt have him only want players who want to play for liverpool fc and no one else

He blocked the transfer to UTD last year becoz of his wage..no way we gonna give him 200+ wages per week

04 Aug 2012 17:10:32
Just watched the chelsea game now..they lost 3-1 to BHW...awful they were...with 120 mil...so slefish chelsea players are always...
I am not sure how on earth Lampard became a legend?
Simple tap ins..and penalty..make a player legend??

Hes a pretty damn good player to be fair mate.
Red Branch

Soft lad its only a friendly, in 2 weeks is when the season starts muppet.

Surely (who's Shirley?) Lampard being in a position to 'simply' tap the ball in so regularly from Midfield makes him a decent player? Just a thought like!!

Loves a good deflection too.

Never mate..i never rate lamaprd legend...he can only play in one position...and people still comapre him with gerrard..
have he ever scored a goal like gerrard did against olympiakos back in 2004 in CL??

I think it's funny too mate ur not on your own, I know it's only a friendly, still made me chuckle though

To be fair he is and never was as good as stevie g, but always got the better position in the england team

Yes thats true...i dont know how some one steal the spotlight...gerrard is a living legend.the most loyal player any club can ever get..
i remmeber its the same lampard who fired AVB..
I would love spurs wipping chelsea asses this season...

Hate to say it but chubs (lampard) is a good goal scoring midfielder never understood the fuss about him when he was at west ham but with a lot of players he took time to develop and hate to say it again mourinho played a system that maximised the strengths in lampard's game honestly think that Henderson could develop into this type of player his finishing seems to go unoticed p.s. chubs's all round game pales in comparison to gerrards & always will......paisley's genius

Fat Frank is an enigma. A rare and wonderful footballer. One would shoot towards the corner flag knowing that there will be a deflection or four and will find its way into the back of the net. A pin ball expert!

Dublad

Post wasn't signed but presuming reading the last sentance it was by Yoda?

Mark the Selby Red

So we have nothing to worry about then haha

I'm not a chelsea fan but lampard has done a lot for our england squad and for chelsea what has gerrard done for england or even liverf**l seriously respect SUPER FRANK......

Hotspud009

To the douchebag hotspud009, lampard has never been nor will ever be as good as gerrard. What's gerrard done for England? In the last 3 major tournaments he has been one of our best if not the best player in the squad. Has always performed on big stage where others like fat frank bottled it. Was the best player for england during the euros, set up 3 of the four goals we scored. The only reason why fat frank looks good is because of the players around him at Chelsea. He's a good player but not in the same league as stevie g...simple.

So according to the"Anfield Mole" on twitter the loan signings are Afellay and Callejon, two good signings which would improve us but i wouldn't say any is a star signing... but a massive improvement of what we have had.

We need pacy and skillful wingers to break down stubborn defences or catch them on the counter but guess who we are linked with. Allen, Dempsey and mysterious loans; the same mistake we made last season with too many midgielders and no striker signed.

My heart bleeds for LFc...unless we are prepaired to wait a few more seasons before we hopefully start challenging again and hope that our rivals go bankrupt and stop spending. But to be very honest, i could hardly wait untill the next match after a cold saturday night at stoke or for the league to be done with already when we lose the race for top for midway into the season.

I love LFc and I do believe in Rogers but I also know a quality player when i see one. And Have I seen any so far? Yeah, ive seen Giroud, Podolski, Carzola, Marin, Hazard, Oscar, Kagawa, Gaitan, Sigurdson, Lewandowski, Rondon, Sissoko, Badelj, Belhanda, Muller, Moutinho, Munain, Suseata, Martinez, Dzeagov, Reus, Mirralas and Remirez. If we can't afford any of these, then we need not bother trying to sign them. But for the love love of club, we should stay away frpm mediocrity.

Stevenge

Allen is a top player who will get better also proven in the p/l or did u not watch him for swansea last season , out of all the players u named apart from siggurdson how do u know any of them will cut it in the prem did u watch padolski in the euros he was awful , trust in what br and the club are doing they know more than we do .....steve ynwa

Why are people always saying 'he is proven in the premier league'? Downing was proven in the premier league so was henderson and Carrol to an extent and look where that got LFC. Premier League proven means nothing. Torres was not Premier League proven when he came to LFC and he was a Hit. Mata the same. Almost all of Arsenal's players over the years have been unproven in the Premier League and almost all of them turned in Super Stars

Brad Smith (LB), one of the younger lads who went on the tour (didn't get a game), comes in my parent's pet shop, and he told them that Carroll is definetly going. He didn't say whether it was perminent or on loan. He didn't say who was coming in, but he's a regular so next time he's in I'll try and catch him for some more updates

Lewis the Red {Ed052's Note - Did he just come into the Pet shop to tell you his news?

A regular to a pet shop - suggesting he already has a pet. But if he comes in often, he must buy the same things often. Therefore, he must have a rabbit.}

Or he just needs to buy pet food?
That said, I don't believe it either

Chris in Tamworth

Well you are wrong. He didn't have a pet. He bought 2 Leopard Geckos off us, as we are an exotic pet shop. He came in with his Mum and Brother and as they are from Australia my Mum asked him what he was doing over here and they told us who he was. She mentioned I was a big fan and asked him does he know anything ad that is what he told here.

Lewis the Red

I know there is a lot of b******t on this site and I don't expect anyone to believe me straight off. If you don't believe me Chris I can always get a phone pic of him in the shop and email it to you. Trust me :)

Lewis the Red

Are u sure it wasn jus a talkin parrot

He's a regular who came in to buy his first pet and told you that?
So what did he do before to make him a regular? Come in and look at the animals, or buy some bird seed for himself to eat?

Ed052 loved the rabbit reply! More of that type of humour eh reds? Sometimes reading the posts on here I swear it's lawrenson,begin,redknapp & Robbin (afgan) savage! Posting!

Eds, id love to get your opinions on the new U21 leagues. Do you think they are a good idea? Would you prefer to see B teams? {Ed052's Note - I think a B team would be a fantastic idea - but I cannot see it happening. It would give youth a chance to shine and test themselves more.}

04 Aug 2012 15:41:27

He isn't worth half that.

04 Aug 2012 15:41:06
how does rodgers telling suarez to move on from the events from last year end up being the front page on skysports website?

The media are secretly trying to keep the story alive, even though they say the opposite, hypocrites, they'll do anything to allow a swipe at Liverpool {Ed002's Note - Try not to get paranoid about these things.}

It's strange that there is no comments on the Terry story. . . oh wait no it's not it's Sly Sports

Mr Slonk The Red

YNWA

If we all stop clicking on the links and they get less people reading them then they'll probably slowly start stopping the story!

Rodgers was saying we all need to move on, meaning the Media and fans but they then twisted that for a headline to look like he was havin a go at Suarez. ......and people wonder why we call them sly sports

04 Aug 2012 15:06:49
eds reds re the pelican riddle concerning a player coming in. has an answer been given? i havent seen one and not much on the search button. if it hasnt been solved , ciuld it be a player from senegal? their flag is red, yellow, green. thanks. steviep62.

I heve a feeling it was just something to keep people busy .
CrAsH

Surely if your on about a pelican, wouldn't be better to research which country the pelican is indigenous to, just an idea. Si

The pelican isn't indigenous to anywhere. Pretty much a globe trotter. And I don't know of any loans coming from Harlem.

I asked about the feathered pelican a couple of days ago, it comes from louisianna, ?. maybe something in that , maybe both that and red,yellow,green? steviep62.

Are FSG punishing the club for the 'perceived' wasting of funds in previous windows. Their lack of iniative is most unsettling, and does not bode well for any sustained campaigns.
Please FSG, if you are committed to the club, then its time to show it.
Poor old BR is 'sloshing around' like a fish out of water.

Wait till the end of the window before you criticise... {Ed052's Note - Agreed}

04 Aug 2012 15:02:32
Firstly, I check this damn site everyday...
saying how addictive it is must be addictive, because i agree. It's addictive.

This is less of a rumour and more of 'thought share' on the current squad.

Enrique is a problem.. he needs to find his 'form' from the start of last season otherwise we're in trouble. Have been criticizing him to for month after month, thought nobody else was noticing, it seems some were. Moving Johnson to left back and Kelly to right would be my solution. Really think we should try to strengthen with a proven left back (is that what Enrique was?)

Carragher - Legend - 93 years old now?

Continuing my negative theme.. 'lol'. Reina has been nowhere close to his best for a couple of seasons now. Is that KRUL of me? I don't think so.

Agger/Skrtel - injury prone/one good season, it's a tough one but Agger edges it (if he can stay fit) any offer for Skrtel of 18m or above has to be taken, use it to get a younger partner that could suit Agger more (Kjaer?) Van Tongeren would have been a perfect signing, but I won't mention him. Oops. I feel Coates needs a little more experience before making his way into the first team proper, maybe he's the answer though. Maybe.

Spearing needs to go, there's no 'x factor'. Adam seems to have a little sparkle but there's a lack of pace and the ability to tackle. Pardon me but.. a poor mans Paul Scholes? SORRY.

I can see Henderson AND Shelvey improving game on game, and Lucas will hopefully return to his fine form. More than happy with all three.

What are peoples thoughts on Downing/Cole?
I for one am not a big fan, Cole at Liverpool was never meant to be (he was only meant to score against us...) and Downing? Potential all his career, only showing it in glimpses. Worth keeping as a squad player? He just doesn't fill me with confidence.

Sterling and Morgan have shown a lot of potential and will surely push for a place over the course of the season. Common knowledge I know. Borini, apparently the lad has world class movement. Done.

Haven't mentioned Gerrard or Suarez because there is no need (that doesn't count)

I may have just pointed out the obvious, but thought I'd share my long tedious opinion. Sorry for any grammar bads.

Hey Eds. Keep up the good work ;) if you had a pound...
{Ed052's Note - Thanks}

Did one of the girls from sex and the city write this.wasted my time read this bs

"Did one of the girls from sex and the city write this"

I don't know. I'm not familiar with their work.

You tell me.

I'd say that those fictional girls might actually be more constructive in their thoughts and writing than you are though. So perhaps you meant it as a complement?

Surely their fictional jobs require being able to construct two or more fictional sentences together in a coherent manner.

The OP has a hell of a lot more to offer to the conversation than you do.

"I have also looked at one or two loan deals from abroad. There are some quality players in that market that I have inquired about. The make-up of the group will change before the season starts and that will change the dynamic of the team also."

I envisage we will get a better calibre of player on loan than permanent deals. Nuri Sahin, Ibrahim Afelley, Cristian Tello, Thiago (doubt it, but possibly?!), Muller, any more potentials?! {Ed052's Note - I doubt Muller and Thiago will be available for loan though...}

04 Aug 2012 15:15:14
things will progress over the next couple of days," Rodgers said. he wants players in sooner rather than later

Looks like next signing imminent!

You seem to have forgotton out the part of the interview when he said ''There is nothing imminent''

04 Aug 2012 15:12:21
I will be a happy happy man if we sign Dempsey. He will do wonders for LFC. His link up between midfield and attack is amazing, he's versatile and strong as hell. Not only that, he finds the back of the net time in time out, I'm surprised he hasn't been snapped up sooner. People on here saying Dempsey isn't good enough need to get a grip, you do realise his tally is pretty much double what Suarez got last season? An attacking formation of Dempsey who is a nightmare for defenders, Borini who draws defenders out of positions and Suarez who frankly embarrasses every PL defender he's against would be absolutely lethal. I genuinely think with that strike force we would have one of, if not the most fearsome, forward formation in the PL.

JP.

04 Aug 2012 14:53:49
Eds do you think it wud be worth puttin a bid in for Kaka, providing he is willing to take a drop in his wage and the price is right {Ed002's Note - No.}

Why would Ka'ka want to come to Liverpool ?

Not saying he is coming, and i dont want him, but why would he sit another season on the bench for real? kaka is no longer a kid, and maybe he just wanna play?

04 Aug 2012 14:41:03
Ed2 You have always questioned how strong an interest liverpool have in Ramirez. Do you Still question that mate?

Thanks

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - At this time as far as I know nothing has changed. Liverpool may at some point make a push for the player.}

You hope we don't get Ramirez coz you've seen 8 games of his now you think Hendo is better? They don't even play the same position, I,ve seen enough of Ramirez to know that we need someone like him if we going to break down the likes of Norwich, Stoke etc. Some flair and imagination.

04 Aug 2012 14:37:38
I hear from a very good source that we are still very interested in Victor Moses I do know BR would like Gaston Ramirez but willn,t pay the 20m that is wanted by Bologne and the star loan signing is from City watch this space they would like to sell this player if they could but will let him go to LFC on loan

04 Aug 2012 14:26:22

Sahin(Real Madrid)
Tello(Barca)?

If this is so i think it be sahin and villa.

04 Aug 2012 14:09:04
Has any1 else heard about us being close 2 getting Tevez on loan. I think it would make sense seeing as the Donkey is on his way out, I've heard this numerous times now. KAGS

04 Aug 2012 13:58:33
Hi eds, just wondering the need to "sell to buy" is that to do with actual transfer funds that will be used to buy or is it because the wage bill needs to be reduced before adding anyone new? {Ed002's Note - THis was dealt with yesterday - it is futile to bring it up again.}

04 Aug 2012 13:52:28
Genoa has also shown interest in Vargas and could spark a bidding war.

Carrol has been offered to Fulham for Dempsey plus cash

Liverpool and spurs have inquired For affelay on loan.

Newcastle inquire for van der wiel

Mourinho has told arsenal they are free to sign sahin

04 Aug 2012 13:49:57
Kazan make Euro 10m for Rondon. don't know why Liverpool sleep on this player. he is a young and very fast in the field. will do very well in wing. go for him Liverpool £10m Bid.

r-r

Seems to be a lot of 'sleeping' going on at LFC. We are fumbling around in the dark wrt transfers. More speculation about players leaving than coming in. Just what the hell is going on. Two weeks still season starts. Cmon let's be proactive, not reactive.

{Ed052's Note - There is plenty of time left mate - don't worry. Rodgers himself says he hopes to get deals done sooner rather than later - so he doesn't like the wait either.}

Ed plenty of Time left but not plenty of player. we have to understand that we are not City or Chelsea who have unlimited money in bag and buy the player when we want. we must look for a good player in a good chance to make a bid.

r-r {Ed002's Note - I have little doubt that the players are already know.}

04 Aug 2012 13:28:54
Ed could the one or two loan deals BR is talking about be players like
Villa
Kaka
Tello
Pedro
Darria
Susaeata
Could you rate are chances out of 10 for each player . Cheers {Ed002's Note - I have absolutely no idea. Sorry.}

04 Aug 2012 13:28:30
Eds, where is reina?? Jayo {Ed002's Note - PepeCam places his car in Waitrose car park on Tulketh Street in Southport. He is not in sight at this moment. Weather appears pleasant.}

Looking on PepeCam Ed and seen him getting back in his car, it appeared he was stuffing his face with beef jerky, surely if he was back in training he'd be cutting this out no?
The car park attendant said he has a load of chorizo sausage too?

04 Aug 2012 13:24:00
to reply to the person who says i dont know anything about football.. you sir dont know how to read. i expect the team not to be ready so early but this game counts so a player like shelvey who has been in the exhibitions practicing under rodgers all camp would be more ready than the first teamers who just arrived.because they looked so sloppy i think they would have been better served by jonjo s presence that was the point i was trying to make.

04 Aug 2012 12:48:37
This isn't really a transfer rumour but do you think that we should keep Andy Carrol because I think that if we get rid of him I think we will be making a huge mistake pls comment if you agree or disagree

I have posted 2/3 times that we should definitely keep AC. He has come on since being fit which he has shown towards the end of last season, the Euros and on Tour pre season. If nothing else he is at least Plan B. It seems that other Premier league clubs want him. Why can't BR give him a chance!? In my opinion it would be a BIG mistake to let AC go.
2009 Captain.

I would be ecstatic if we got rid of Carroll as we could bring in a player(s) via loan and or buy who have pace, and score goals from the attacking three position. Probably will get shot down for this post. Redevon

I'd keep him. Forget the price tag that has burdened AC since his arrival and consider where we are at the moment.

He's a young striker who hit form towards the end of the season. Form that saw him a whisker away from winning the FA cup for Liverpool and claim the England no. 9 shirt.

And if we do sell him, it's no good saying "we can bring in a striker that can score 20 goals a season" - REALLY? Is it that easy? Who's available that's guaranteed to come straight in and hit the ground running for us?

I think the thing that I'm most disappointed with is Rodgers seeming to have made his mind up about AC without even giving him a chance. I know he may still get his chance but it's looking less and less likely.

Joe

Why does the striker have to score 20 premiership goals? Carroll only scored 4 premiership goals from 35 premiership games. Redevon

liverpool will be the next "big club" to get relegated. we have shown we cant pass and we cant even beat teams like toronto and fc gomel. gerrards to old henderson is s***e spearing must be the crapest ever player lfc have had and adams so slow its pathetic. suarez and agger are the 2class players we have. reina was s***e last year. nwely promoted teams are spending money and we aint. as for borini 11 mill rondon i goin gor 10mill to kazan and rondon isa diff league to borini. all lfc fans whos a better player rondon from malaga or borini

What a lovely little ray of sunshine you are, and we did beat gomel btw

And how are things down at Old Trafford these days?

Puzzled

FC Gomel 0 - 1 Liverpool. That is a win.

Im quite sure we beat Gomel

You are super optimistic you! lol
why not give the team some time before judging them on pre season games.
Gerrard is not too old and Henderson could become good.
I really hope Borini will be class act. Regarding Rondon do you know if Liverpool were interested in him? and ready to make an offer?

Rondns a sickk playa on footbal manger, beta than borini

Well rondon does look to be a better player but i doubt we are getting relegated tho a realistic fan would no we will not top 4

To this poster, please save the rest of the readers on this site from having to waste time reading your utterly worthless opinoins by either never posting again or by starting your posts with "I'm an person, only other persons should read" this would stop normal people, who realise that the things you talk about are pathetically stupid, irrelevant and ultimately a waste of time from reading and allow them more time to read other normals fan's post, where they might actually get to hear the views, opinions and banter from other real people. This would result in much happier forum where we could easily filter out the bottom of the barrel fans like yourself and save our eyes from nonsensical tripe which you and other trolls seem to be able to produce at such a fast rate.

Samson Rasher {Ed049's Note - The last portion of your rant which I've edited was a bit out of order,careful from next time Samson.}

I will take that on board Ed. Everything I post(not much lately) is banter and will hopefully be received as banter, however, sometimes with such thought provoking drivel, such as that posted by the above troll, a chemical reaction occurs in my brain which seems to disable the bit of me which makes rational decisions and I am overcome with a lust to offend.........

Liverpool manager hoping to Bring few more players into the first team before the end of the transfer window.
            "There is nothing imminent just yet, not that I am aware of, but hopefully things will progress over the next couple of days,I want players in sooner rather than later, it is important to get the group together as quickly as possible, but if not we will just have to be patient." Rodgers said after the Europa League away win vs FC Gomel.
    "I'd be happy as long as we have some in before the end of August.
       Manager also sugggested he is looking to Bring one/two "HIGH Caliber" players on loan. "I have also looked at one or two loan deals from abroad,There are some quality players in that market that I have enquired about and spoken to the European managers on. "The make-up of the group will change before the season starts and that will also change the dynamic of the team" added the Irishman.
            Boss also updated on Daniel Agger's fitnesss on the wake of his agent's quotes about Dane's withdrawal from Europa league squad "We have a behind closed doors game for him this weekend to help his match fitness," said Reds manager .
"Daniel is fit, but we have to make sure his physical condition is up to speed. He wasn't going to play and if that was the case, I wanted him to use that time to work on his physical condition."

04 Aug 2012 12:36:08
I read a lot of posts criticising Brendan Rodgers in particular and the owners in general for a perceived
lack of activity in the transfer market. We have no
idea what is going on behind closed doors ! Stop taking what is written in the newspapers AND one may add, on sites like this and taking it all as gospel. The important thing is to get the best player you can for the positions which need to be filled - if that takes time so be it.
It is more important to get the right transfer deal than the quickest .
Another bugbear is the number of times I read people mocking BR's vision of the football he wants to be played at Anfield. WHY? He has been chosen because he is young, bright and BECAUSE of his vision.
I don't mind people having a moan - I am something of a Victor Meldrew myself, but at least wait for the transfer window to close before you criticise transfer activity and wait for the season to get under way before moaning about BR's style of play

In short - a bit of commonsense and a bit of patience please

Puzzled

Well said mate, i have had enough of all these moaners too

Regards the loan deal,it's not a loan deal more loan deals!! We enquired about players from 3 clubs Real Madrid, Barca and Malaga with positive results from RM and Barca. We will defo have a player from Real on a 12 month deal and a very possible Barca player on a 6 month deal!

The Malaga player was a no go as they were looking for a permanent deal my thoughts are it was Rondon!

What I do know is the player(s) are european so no Higuain, kaka and no it definitely will not be Alonso!

Deals to be completed within 2 weeks!

My thoughts are Villa for 6 months as it makes sense for both clubs, unsure about the Real player!

Thanks reds!

Iano

Well done, you follow the anfield mile on twitter and repost it on here.

It is jose callejon and ibrahim affelay
Thanks

Hey Eds. The three players we're all constantly hearing are Dempsey, Allen and Ramirez. Adding the value of all three of them comes to over £40 million. Do we really have that sort of money? Especially how we didn't make anything off Aquilani and Carroll's sale is far from guaranteed. Do you think there will be more players sold? {Ed019's Note - We do have money, just not unlimited amounts. I predict more departures}

04 Aug 2012 12:15:41
star signing wont be villa, he was the one who slagged lfc off and told torres to move. It will be a forward however, as carroll wont be here. Yes i believe it could be a man city player, as they dont see us as rivals. So maybe edin or carlos. But my gut feeling, really is higuain. Basically by elimination, as most other options, there a reason why they wouldn't, but cant think of a reason why higuain wouldn't
Benny baller

He scored 22 in 35 last season why would he be sent out on loan?

Chris in Tamworth

I'm hoping for higuain as well mate, but I realise it would be coup of the century if we managed to bring him in on loan.
But i think it may be sahin and we will miss out to arsenal.

i think the obvoius chose for a loan is david villa barca dont want or need him we pay his wages for 1 year he gets us in champions league great buisiness

Who could be the loan signings BR said he was looking to get? Thanks....great website {Ed019's Note - No clue}

04 Aug 2012 12:07:30
i know its been a while but by any chance could the loanee be either Alonso or Sahin the reason i say this is because Bredan has spoke about loans and it reminded me of the situation a few weeks backs

please post

and great site

A lot of moaning, whiny Be**-ends on here today. I thought the tide had turned and we true fans, armed with common sense and logic had out numbered and out voiced them. Alas no....Pick your dummy up, count to ten, use some critical thinking and then post please. Your whiney, ill-informed complaints are getting tiresome.

just wanted to know if anyone shared my views.. With all the abuse Suarez is getting from GB in the Olympics, surely it must be likely he will be driven out of liverpoil and the premier league to play in another league? Is there a high chance of this happening?

That is what this has all been about and that is what the Mancs and Fergie want.
They fear us and we must not let this happen and them to win.

In many countries is normal to booo on rival team anthem,so I dont think so.Serbian Red

Suarez is driving himself out he can't forget Evra, silly boy.

He knows the Liverpool fans still love him and will show him strong support this season. That might encourage him to stay rather than move clubs where he has to fit in again with the eyes of the world on him and opposing fans will really start to boo even more if they think it got to him at Liverpool

"That is what this has all been about and that is what the Mancs and Fergie want.
They fear us and we must not let this happen and them to win."

LOL. Sorry to break it to you bud but United are not in fear of L'pool anymore. Neither are City or Chelsea for that matter. If SAF feared anyone he would be trying to oust the likes of Aguero, Yaya, Silva....but Suarez, who cares? He may be the difference between you finishing 6th or 8th but that's irrelevant to United

ED'S this is from and on our home site,rodger's looking at loan signing's and stated nothing imminent at moment ? i for 1 dont like the sound of that ?.hope we see some new player's come in but seem's that money is just not there for us.in lfc i trust.jay essex red till dead....

BR also said he would like to keep Aqualani

It doesn't mean we don't have the money, with loans you can just add "high porfile" players who don't get the minutes at their clubs (like affelay)
i think it's a great idea from BR
trust him

Just wanted to give Kudos to Macca. As I've always known, not even people right at the heart of the club get everything right. I bet if Brendan Rodgers himself posted on here in secret, he'd have said Siggy was nailed on before Spurs got involved.

Anyway. just like with the new manager, everyone else was saying Martinez and Macca was saying Rodgers. Some people called him out, but he was the one who had the last laugh. Now again, not one person in the press or telly, or anyone on here come to think of it, had even the merest mention of a loan signing. Macca comes on and says "We might be getting a star on loan" and lots of people call him out on that again. Well guess what people? There's another serving of humble pie on its way to you. Rodgers himself said that he's looking at a couple of star foreign players on loan that he's made enquiries about. All the papers are running the story today, but we really did hear it here first - days and days before the press got a sniff of it.

So Kudos Macca. Thanks for your info when you can give it, and keep it coming please mate. I'd like to know what's going to be in next week's papers so I don't have to buy them again cheers, seeing as you've got a habit of beating them at their own game. Honestly, the journalists would probably be better of doing sweet FA at work and then copy and paste Macca's posts. They'd be a hell of a lot more accurate for starters! ;)

BR has just said he's looked into a few loans in the international market, but also in the PL, so maybe adding yet more wood to the metaphorical fire of our possible mystery loan player.

Why does everyone want Spearing to be sold? Dont you realise hes not going to start for us? So why does it matter?

And also, name one other player we could get that would be happy to be second or even third choice behind Lucas and on low wages.

Hounsred

It is because he is simply not good enough for LFC, the performances last year showed that without doubt.

THere is no room for sentiment just because he is a Scouse lad, he should move on a make a good career for himself at a lower club and LFC should get greater depth for 1st team competition as that is the only way we will be able to deal with injuries and still maintain a challenge of any sort.

ConnorsLFC

Connor Coady

We have Connor Coady already who can step up.Keeping Spearing stops the younger lads development.spearing proved last yr that he wasn't good enough.

Coady is utter crap if we have to call up a kid it has to be suso other than that we have plenty of midfielders, too many some might say

I know you have stopped responding to the - "On a scale of 1-10 what are the chances of us signing this certain player". However, on a scale of 1-10, what are the chances of you changing your minds and answering! {Ed002's Note - Changing my mind about what? If new information comes to light, things change. At the moment Liverpool have not enquired about Sturridge, but if they do I will say. Nobody I know of has approached Liverpool to buy Enrique - if the situation changes I will say. Hopeless.}

Loaning players is for small clubs. Rodgers needs think bigger instead of turning us in to a small club buying average swansea players.

Are you stupid? Loaning a star so that we can get back in to the champions league is intelligent business. If we do get back in, then next season we can buy the stars. We are not going to attract big stars to buy without CL this season.

Man utd had Tevez,on a 2 yr loan.You my friend don't have a jar of glue,or if you have, stop sniffing it,as it destroys your brain cells.

Mascherano to us. Adebayor (sp) to real Madrid were both effective quality loans. One to the biggest club in the world and real Madrid are a top team. Redevon

Can you reveal who the possible loan signing could be?

if it doesnt happen it doesnt mean anything, you stated it could happen not that its definite {Ed002's Note - I assume this is aimed at Macca.}

I think everyone is frustrated by not knowin who the potential loan signing is, but I understand why Macca isn't saying. We all want something really exciting to happen, but if Macca says who it is, and it's someone who could make a massive difference, and then they don't sign not only are we gonna be disappointed, but Macca's gonna get it in the neck from all the keyboard warriors on this site, saying he knows nothing and that he's making stuff up just to p*** people off. He's good enough to tell us what he knows and then gets a load of abuse when it's not what people want to hear or when it falls through

I little advice for anybody that wants to get a players name on the back of their shirt...maybe wait till the transfer window is closed to avoid any Disappointment and waste of money?

Just got suarez on my shirt, but i do believe he will be red for seasons 2 come,

I hope to buy an Agger shirt come the start of september.

WHY!! WHAT DO YOU KNOW... i was going to get my own name on there. Have you been speaking to my Mum what is she going to do, she never liked me it was alway my other brother... thank for the tip off!

Your mum loves you very much mate.

Simple...Just get a GERRARD 8 jersey if you want to be safe...

Bought the home shirt in the first weekend and was gonna get Carroll or Agger, thank god I held off!

No interest in Ramirez? Are you having a laugh? Ed's where do we get some of these posters on here

There has been no offer, liverpool i am sure are interested in hundreds of players but that doesnt mean they will sign them. At his current valuation he is not viable in my opinion unless players leave.

For what its worth, we've got rid of both Aquilani and Maxi who were on unbelievable wages. I reckon there's room to fit in Ramirez as far as wages now they've gone.

JP.

04 Aug 2012 09:45:15
I know Rodgers is a fan of pace in his sides. Our first team,as a whole, lack genuine pace. I believe technically gifted midfielders, and indeed forwards can overcome a lack of speed with quickness of thought and skill. However, in the modern game I believe central defenders can be cruelly exposed when not the most mobile. The match against Gomel showed this as a particular flaw in our side that desperately needs to be addressed. Carra was never that quick but the opposition forward gave Skrtle a torrid time when running at, or behind him. Agger is pure class but I feel we need an athletic,lacey CB to play alongside him. Not sure Coates fits the bill although Sama shows huge potential. I wouldn't mind seeing us make a bid for Sakho, who I believe is available.

I know what you mean, when we play a high line in defence you need players that can get back to cover,
Chelski suffered from this with AVB as Terry was to slow.
But i dont know the answer?

Phooey...

Hope not, Udinese Manager has said Luis Muriel will not play for Udinese because he is overwieght!

Hi eds, Now that Uruguay are out of the olympics, does that make a deal for Ramirez more likely? Also do we have a chance of getting sahin?
It definitley seems as though Brendan Rodgers isnt signing players up to liverpool standards at the moment....

thanks great site {Ed002's Note - I don't think Sahin will be moving to Liverpool. The Olympics being over for a player means that a transfer, if any, is easier to complete from a logistics and practicality viewpoint.}

Hi Eds,

Just wondering when we're expecting Reina back and why his extended holiday seems to have lasted so long compared to others? Thought he would have been keen to get back and playing under BR. Great work! Liking some of the rumours on here and hope some of them become reality!

Mike G {Ed002's Note - PepeCam has him back in Liverpool. He was washing the windows down at the back of his garage a minute ago but he has just slipped in the kitchen door after a few spots of rain. No dout he will have a refreshing glass of homemade lemonade.}

He asked a genuine question ed that most of us are still wondering the answer to. {Ed002's Note - Why are you wondering about him - folks have said he returned on schedule on August 1. You should look at PepeCam if you want to stalk him. Rain has stopped no. Just a little shower.}

worrying times at lfc. something dont seem quite right at the club. we are being very slow in the tranfer market. i know we have money to spend as the owners have said but this dont seem right. we dont look that great at the moment as a team and yes i know its only pre season but come on they cant get that unfit over there time off and to be honest most of them played over the summer. i just think this plan the owners have came up with is not going to work. i think br is a little fish in a big pond and just cant see him pulling this off. the players he is looking at are just not up to what lfc need. we still have not brought any wingers yet and that was what we needed. i know there is still time but this is slow. we should be looking to hit the start of the season in a big way but cant see it happening. the team look all over the place. i know things take time but we dont have time to keep falling behide. alot of people i have spoking to have said they think this will be are worst season and i have to agree with them. i hate to say it. i hope br proves that he is the right man for the job. i dont want to see lfc fall behide anymore.

FSG have no money they are only intrested in selling our best players

I have to say I agree, the wingers point is an issue, but anyone who watched swansea last year will know that BR plays his tactics through the middle, so tbh I dont expect any wingers to arrive, more likely to be more CM's, also not impressed with the players we have been linked with, watched our game the other night, pre-season or not we should be battering teams like that and we WERE lucky to get the win, forever the optimist I got odds of 20-1 on us to finish outside of the top 7! Seriously thinking about putting a bet on! heres hoping he proves us all wrong.

Have you thought that maybe the club
want to make sure we get players off the wage bill before we add to it....

Kuyt and maxi left , then straight away borini signed.

Aqaulani has gone so is expect Allen to join soon.

LAVERS

ManC, ManUtd, Chelski with Arsenal finally buying quality to keep pace. They r clearly the top 4.

We are in the next tier with Spuds and Nufc. Hence linked often with same targets.

Unless Rodgers is a miracle worker, its not gonna change. Get used to it.

FSG should sell the club to owners with more ambition. They have little money and are lowering the wage bill. If this is their way to get in the top 4 then it may take 20 years and a lucky season.They should not have bought the club if they could not afford it.They should have bought a smaller club where the fans would get exited about a borini not this club.

FSG should sell the club to owners with more ambition.................

Yes because there is a whole host of billionaires queuing up to buy us.

GET REAL!!!

04 Aug 2012 08:18:54
i find it funny on here how many of you moan about what players get paid and then call them greedy. the only people you can have a go at is the club. they are the ones that offer it and lets face facts if you were offered it you would take it. so just stop with all this crap about what we have paid out. thats football get over it.

No players demand it that's why there is us h a massive divide in football, take gilfi he demanded more money we wouldn't pay, players are greedy it's not the most of the clubs fault, just te mega rich who throw money at players, think you need to get it right

That's spot on mate,as I have said before, no one who has been given a big contract will want to go somewhere else for less.I think we will play it a lot different from now on and players we sign will be hungry to earn a new contract with added incentives.Aqualani didn't want to work for his wages,but how many people work with someone like that.It's up to the employer to make sure the type of person they take on have a great attitude .Aqualani as a lousy attitude,so we just got to make sure that we bring in hungry players with a fantastic work ethic.Let's forget about abusing the bad signings we have made and move forward.Brendan as proved already with Sigurdsson and Aqualani, that he wants to work with players, who want to play for the shirt and not play for the highest wage.

Jiminy Cricket

Arsenal sign sahin and carzola while Liverpool still shopping in Oxfam. Fsg must have hicks and gillet on the board.

Slow management by FSG.

20m euros for a nearly 28 year old haha

If you had a business and it wasn't making money,you would try and turn it around too. The plan the Owners have is a sensible one,it will take time before we see the benefits of that plan,but you can see that we will not be throwing money at more players until we remove the ones that Brendan decides He doesn't want.Before you say we have had 4 out and 1 in,we all know that Dempsey and Allen should be with us before the end of the month.We also have some of the younger lads moving up.Imo Aqualani and Carroll were both rushed signings and not first choice, you can't blame the owners that they didn't work out.

04 Aug 2012 07:47:57
Hello ed's,
I don't understand all the hype surrounding Joe Allen, I know I will get a lot of stick for this but I genuinely don't see why we continue to pursue a player that is a mediocre premiership player at best yet and are looking to pay a fee that seems well over the top for a player of his abilities, I honestly believe that we should be looking abroad or to players that have had more than one season in top flight football as I feel we could probably pay less for better albeit this is opinion rather than fact. Sahin, affellay, diarra would probably be available around that price region I know that the above mentioned players play various positions just feel that the quality of the above mentioned is needed more than another bog standard CM.
I apologise for this post to seem like a rant but it just frustrates me that we are looking to Swansea players to solve our troubles, I bet Scott sinclair signs for us before the new season..... Cheers eds, great site Riles11 YNWA

Allen is average so he will fit in well at liverpool among his fellow average players. Apart from maybe 2-3 players we are rubbish face it. I would rather have 2 great signings then 5 average ones.

Allen is better than Spearing,so he's better than we already have.He has pace good in the tackle and a great mover of the ball.We want a team of players who don't give the ball away cheaply, that have a willingness to improve and win things.I think he's one of the best young players in the premiership.Craig Bellamy is a winner and he knows a winner when he sees one.He's gone on record about Allen becoming a top top player.

Are we talking about degrees of betterment?

The Gaston Ramirez transfer is a possibility IF dempsey does not sign for what ever reason. However, 2 more clubs are waiting to make bids for Ramirez and one other club is preparing a bid for Dempsey, so we could miss out on both.

Amorebeita has been made aware of Liverpools interest and has comfirmed that he would be interested, but no bid has been made. Just an enquiry. Andy Carroll has finally given up on a future with Liverpool and has 3 clubs willing to pay up to 16 million for him. Liverpool are trying to squeeze another 3 million out of the deal, hence why its dragging on a bit!

The mystery loan signing, well i havent got a clue. I would of hoped it would of been done by now and we all could see who it is but im not accepting that its Kaka or D Villa or even Dzeko.

Adebayor maybe!?

Sinclair has come out and made a statement saying he wants to stay at swansea. Fair play to the lad.

But i still think another striker, 2 if carroll does go and a left and right out and out winger!

Carzola would of been a great addition but the gun bums have got him now. !

Arjen Robben maybe?

This isn't a rumour related question but I'm sure a lot of the users on this site would be interested.
I noticed there are a few of these sites for other clubs. I am wondering which club site is used the most if you know?
I know man utd probably have the most support these days but I am still hoping we are far bigger than Chelsea arsenal and especially spurs {Ed002's Note - Liverpool by some distance. Then perhaps the general page, Celtic and Rangers, Manchester United and Arsenal about equal.}

He eds I know you get asked a lot of questions on the same subject but I was going to buy the new home kit and I was thinking of getting a young player on my back like Henderson, sterling, suso or Morgan. And I was thinking favouring the first two names mentioned but sterling has been linked to spurs a lot so I was just wondering if in your educated opinions if you think he won't be around for much longer.. because I saw his lfc interview and he seemed happy, excited and like he really liked it at the club plus been on his Twitter a couple of times and he seems to have good relationships with the other players.. any opinions would be appreciated.

Secondly I don't know about you but I am finding it worrying how our best players are being linked away with the manager not coming out and quashing any of the rumours. Makes fans nervous and probably gives a notion to other clubs that they can raid us. We as a club at the moment just seem weak. Bit sad, hopefully the owners and manager can put on a stronger stance and reassure fans. Just my two cents, hopefully you can respond. Cheers {Ed002's Note - I know little of the kiddie footballers but perhaps wait until the end of the transfer window before having a name added.. I cannot give an assurance about players not being linked to other clubs.}

There has been some mention that LFC are looking at loan moves.
How is one to interpret this.
The first thought is that there are no funds available, which is rather troubling, as how are we to remain competitive, when our competition has been acquiring new players.
Time will tell.
Though I must confess to being a bit worried right now.
If we are not able to compete for the 'most desired players' on a full transfer, how the hell do we expect to attract quality on loan.

I think mabee the loans or loan is to let mabee 1-2 younger lads develop another year and then step up next season! We have sum crackimg youth but some mabee need a year or 2 till there ready for regular footy... Thats my opinion anyhow :)
Rickblfc...

My personal take on it is FSG are willing to fund a big money move but want to make sure 100% first, hence taking them on loan for a year with an option to buy at the end. I could be well wide of the mark but that is my 10 pence worth for today.

Tristan

Personally,I think FSG are wary of spending big money on players. The top three transfers from last season equalling about 71 million scored less than 15 goals between them! WelshBoyDave

In my opinion , i think that we are getting a old yet experienced player who can help us reach the top 4 , so we dont want to buy him because of the policy we just want to use him for a season to increase our chances of competing ! sabe3

BR trying to get Kaka in on loan and willing to pay £120k of his £165k pw wages plus a £2.3m fee of which Real would use to pay the rest Kaka's wages. The move will be funded by maxi and kuyt's wages.

We need a more stable midfield and he thinks that a loan move is a good way to for a temp fix. added to that player of Kaka's stature would only be a good thing.

also kaka can speak english which is just a bonus.

Why would Liverpool not just pay all his wages then if they are going to give a fee to pay the rest

Just a thought.....

....Reading in-between the many lines written, in the press, this great site, and the way things are at our beloved club. In my humble opinion FSG have begun the massive wake up of this sleeping giant. Huge steps have been made commercially, with a team, that though our great history and massive fan base, on field success has not really contributed towards. If you look at the reality of things on field success really is the only way of increasing fan base, and in turn sponsorship and commercial revenue. the last time we can say we won over new fans is probably under the Rafa era, and the spanish influence in the squad and the most historic champions league final ever. with our club more stable than with the previous ownership. the return of kk and our huge spend was maybe on reflection a knee jerk reaction to what they thought may change fortunes of the club with a quick roll of the dice. Respect to kk for taking up the job 2nd time round, and had he come in instead of roy maybe we would have been further down the road of rehabilitation.

the way thing are footballing wise is very tough to take as a fan but we must support brendan. he wants to play good football and make use of the youth we have been producing. it may not be a bad thing that we are currently not after the elite footballers, but honestly which world star would sign a longterm contract at lfc right now. in a season or two when brendan has put his stamp on the club and hopefully got us back in the champs league then i'm confident the big names will come, alongside the required revenue the club needs via sponsorship and commercial revenue the club requires to support a squad of big name players. potentially alongside this the club can make genuine forward steps in having a state of the art 60-70,000 stadium to bring us into the modern era of the game.

with respect to the so called rumours surrounding this seasons transfer dealings, keep hold of our two centre back. allen, ramires, tello would be great additions, as far as the star loan signings that we could possibly attract and perhaps could do with, villa, pato both need game time and would help lift our slumbered profile. and if chelsea rumours are to be believed with them after a top class striker, the loan return of torres may not be a bad option ( please dont slate me ).

4-3-3 or 4-1-2-3 / 4-5-1 both 2nd formation are pretty much based on fluid angles of 433 which rodgers favours.

Please correct this if I am wrong.

When FSG took over the club they purchased it outright which would include any debts (ie outstanding transfer fees)

In the case of Aquillani he was purchased outright and so was an "asset" of the club. This asset was included in the total purchase price.

FSG therefore did not lose on Aquillani he was part of the total purchase price. Hicks and Gillette who sold the club, lost out as they overpayed for the player and didnt get a return for what they had "spent".

As far as I can see FSG have not lost a penny on him. {Ed002's Note - The debts were not outstanding transfer fees, they were loans. Aquilani was not purchased outright. It is not the case about anyone losing out, it was simply, in the big scheme of things, not great business.}

Some time that happen why so many talk about Aquilani , we paid £18m for him his injury and loan all not come out well. but that don't say he is a bad player. club like Milan and Juve take him on Loan. £7m Alonso sold £35m. £25m Torres sold £50m so money come in too. how much we pay for Agger, skartel and Pepe ? £20m is there for each one of them.

Olympics - i found it annoying that half of the big stars havnt turned up for the football. whats wrong with these clubs. they would rather piss away thes summer in America than here in england.

I predict any team going to usa will come home more tired than if they choose to stay at home. these events are pointless, success on the pitch should be followed up wtih time on the training field.

I think that's where we have been going wrong. too much time away from the club and not enough time getting the basics right.

as for players. Well we are shopping at 99p store, but paying harrods prices. if where going to get rapped over prices for players and wages these players want. then why not go after the big names in the game.

Unless liverpool go public and admit they will be playing to stay in the premiership this season and will be dealing with the west-hams of this world.

Using players who are using the club. AquaMan, Joe Cole, well roll the dice and go big or go home. What would of happen if we bought a bunch of unhappy players in to a weakened squad and forced them to earn their wages.

Well we may of gotten to a better league position. but what else. I know its hard to get ride of them.

What are you moaning about? The post is really confusing.

Liverpool will never, ever become a PLC and I for one am very glad of that.. You're at the wromg club mate

Aquilani leaves liverpool for €4m, but Reds get stung for extra €3.4m in wages. Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani has left Anfield to join Fiorentina for good.

Fiorentina co-owner Andrea Delle Valle told the Italian Press this morning that Aquilani is now a Fiorentina player, and he also told ssn 24: "Aquilani is ours!".

The terms of the deal are as follows:

* Three year contract.
* €4m transfer fee.
* Liverpool to pay half his salary (€1.7 million per year) for two years. €3.4m in wages

Taking into account the €3.4m in wages Liverpool will have to pay over the next two years, the club will end up making a €16m loss on Aquilani, who was signed by Rafa Benitez in 2009 for €18m. Initially, Aquilani's fee was to be paid in installments, but according to LFC's 2010 accounts, the entire amount has already been paid.

Aquilani was never really given a consistent chance at Liverpool, and the midfielder recently complained that he was 'pushed out on loan against his will by both Roy Hodgson and Kenny Daglish.

The Italian is undoubtedly a good player with great vision and technique, Aquilani's signing will surely have to go down as one of Liverpools biggest transfer mistakes of recent history.

2009 - 2014
£86,000 x 52 = £4,472,000
x 5 years = £22,360,000
£17 million Roma Italy
= £39,360,000

Appearances: 18 and most of them where as sub,

IF Fenway sports like stats, then Aquilani has been the most expensive player in the clubs history. He cost the club £2,180,666.66 per game

Aquilani Cost £2,180,666.66 per game played

Does anyone know of a bigger flop at Anfield

How many match he played for Liverpool ? {Ed002's Note - The figures are horribly wrong above - just ignore it.}

News that Rodgers wants to LOAN class players from abroad. Once again Macca has proved he is a reliable source. Agger will stay and if Skrtel does move on I think Coates should be given a good run with Kelly as back up. Flanagan is cover for RB so we shouldnt worry too much.

The news of a bid for Gaston Ramirez excites me, Im a big fan of but watching him at the Olympics worried me. Why couldnt the Uraguay team (barring Suarez) be bothered to play? Do they only play when it suits them.

I have a gut feeling that the big man is all but out of the door. Surely the money we get from his sale will be invested in a striker as Macca has said.

I would like to say goodbye to Alberto Aquilani, one of my favourite players ever. I will miss him but glad I got to see him play in red one last time. I know alot of fans will view this wrong but the lad didnt ask for any of this. I just hope he has a good career and wish him all the best.

BR says yes to a foriegn loan possibility, and no Agger/Carroll omissions from the Europa squad as signs of imminent transfer. Just not fit enough yet.

-- The Liverpool manager said: "There is nothing imminent just yet, not that I am aware of, but hopefully things will progress over the next couple of days. It may take one or two moves to spark everything off. I want players in sooner rather than later, it is important to get the group together as quickly as possible, but if not we will just have to be patient. I'd be happy as long as we have some in before the end of August.

"I have also looked at one or two loan deals from abroad. There are some quality players in that market that I have inquired about. The make-up of the group will change before the season starts and that will change the dynamic of the team also."

Rodgers denied the exclusion of Andy Carroll and Daniel Agger from Liverpool's trip to Belarus was connected to doubts over their futures at Anfield. The Dane's agent, Per Steffensen, has denied claims Agger has been approached by Liverpool over a new contract.

The Liverpool manager added: "Daniel was always going to stay behind. We have a behind-closed-doors game for him this weekend to help his match fitness. It is straightforward with Andy too. I didn't want senior players coming over if they weren't going to get games. He is another who stayed at home to work on his condition." --

'from abroad' - So Maybe now the Tevez, Adebayor loan nonsense will stop.

Interesting to note that most of the players we have been strongly linked with or bought: Borini, Allen, Ramirez, Affellay would all be considered to have pace. Last season we had too many players with little or no pace (Kuyt, Aurelio, Maxi, Carroll, Adam). Encouraging. Was tempted to engage in some creative writing about how my cousin Vinny met Brendan Rodgers granny at Barcelona airport and that apparently a deal is imminent for a straight swap between Charlie Adam and Andres Iniesta but decided your readers have been subjected to too many such airport sightings.

I really wish people would stop comparing our transfers to Spurs. When did they become the yardstick?

Last transfer window they signed Louis Saha and Ryan Nelson.

At the moment their only established recognised striker is Jermaine Defoe, and they're likely to lose the only player that even comes close to world class - Modric.

They signed Sigurdsson - who cares?
Anyone else that we were even remotely linked with? No.

We already have.

Reina. In reserve. Gulasci.
Johnson.
Enrique.
Agger. Coates.
Skrtle. Flanagan.
Carragher. Robinson.
Kelly.
Gerrad. Coady.
Lucas. Suso.
Henderson. Sterling.
Cole.
Borini. Morgan.
Suarez.

All we need to sign would be.

Ramirez.
Affelay.
Vargas.
Munian.

I think those additions and possibly a back up keeper (Butland) would be all we need for the coming season. This would give our team the creativity, pace, and goal threat weve sadly been lacking.

Vargas at 4 million would provide competition at left back and left mid. Whilst we could get Robinson some valuable prem experience in a loan deal. We should also loan out Flanagan for the same reason.

The impending sale of Carroll would provide a good cash injection of 15-20 million. Plus if we can offload Spearing, Eccleston, Adam and Downing we could hopefully raise another 20-22 million.

This would give us roughly 34-40 million in transfers to go alongside what is already in the kitty we could easily afford the above players.

Obviously just my preference but your welcome to yours.

Jonesred

Do not expect all 4 to come in. Possibly 1 at best and that's increasingly likely to be Ramirez. Affellay probably on loan but I doubt it. Your deluded if you expect 2 of them let alone 4

How do we get Cash for Carroll (Pun) NOW if west ham pay 2m now and 17m next year

From net today

Brendan Rodgers has tried hard to add some attacking flair to his squad since taking over at Liverpool and we feel that he could finally be about to achieve that as a move for Bologna's Gaston Ramirez approaches along the horizon. The Reds have reportedly made their move official, submitting a £12.6m bid for the Uruguayan. The 21 year old's agent is also rumoured to be in England holding talks with the Anfield hierarchy over a possible transfer.

Ramirez was a steady performer for Bologna last season as he netted eight goals while also chipping in with five assists. A very versatile attacker, Ramirez can fit in on the wings or down the middle in a withdrawn role. Bologna are understandably keen to make the most of the situation by cashing in on their young star, reportedly holding out for £16m.

Liverpool already have Stewart Downing occupying one wing position but they most definitely need a few more quality players around another Uruguayan, Luis Suarez to make a push for a Top Four place next season. They have also been linked with the likes of Clint Dempsey but none of the deals have materialized, leaving Fabio Borini as the only major arrival at Anfield in the summer.

The rumour mill has been livelier than ever this season regarding Liverpool, and Brendan Rodgers has assured fans new faces will be seen pulling on a Liverpool shirt before the window slams shut.

Sticking to the Liverpool way of doing things, the gaffer didn't reveal exactly who we can expect to see at Anfield this summer but did reveal full-time deals were not the only option.

The media exploded with rumours when speculation surfaced of Liverpool looking to loan big stars, David Villa's name being mentioned by the optimists. Rodgers speaking to The Guardian, did confirm he had looked at some players to bring in on loan, and noted they were of high calibre "I have also looked at one or two loan deals from abroad. There are some quality players I have enquired about." This sparked rumours that Ibrahim Afellay may also be on Rodgers' radar.

Despite the excitement of promised talent coming in on loan, permanent transfers are what get fans going and rallied up for the new season. "The message is there is a lot of work going on, on a number of deals and hopefully we can get those completed by the end of August."

The boss was quick to warn fans off reading too much into the speculation though, claiming that most of the targets being set by the media are wide of the mark.

Another piece of speculation surrounding Liverpool at the moment is the future of Daniel Agger, with reports suggesting Liverpool have rejected two bids and with the Danish defender sitting out of the Europa league victory with Gomel, rumours became intense. Rodgers was quick to dismiss such claims stating that it was always the plan, "The plan was always for Daniel to stay behind, everyone knows his history of injuries. He came back to pre-season training after everyone else and is still not up to speed."

With Manchester City seemingly ending their interest Liverpool fans can relax once again, aided by Agger's agent claiming he is happy on Merseyside.

This is a confusing situation. Aquilani did not want to play for us and nobody wanted to pay for him. The board who may I add never signed him had to get him off the wage bill. This was a decent bit of business considering it recoups some money and offloads a useless commodity from the club. He was on over 80 grand a week and was getting paid by us for no reason as every summer he would return to Serie A until pre-season when he would visit his employers for a few weeks before departing for Serie A again. Aquilani will always be rightly remembered as a flop, so let's forget about him once and for all.
Scouse_Pride

H&G and Rafa Benitez then.

How can you ever call this 'a good piece of business', is a massive financial loss, and one that directly impacts on proft/loss statements.
Not to mention the restrictions it places on any potential signing. {Ed002's Note - It has no impact on the "profit/loss" statements. Just move on.}

You have to factor in the saved wages to us over the next two years. Having decided that no one would buy him and his wages being a stumbling block this deal is probably the only way to get rid of him. half his wages for two years will save the club over £4M paying him to do nothing. Difficult decision but that is business.

There is no smoke without fire. There are serious problems behind the scenes. One does not need the methods of Sherlock Holmes to realise it. The agents have caught a whiff of something. Why does, Agger, Reina, Suarez, Skertl, Johnson and Carroll all start to be linked to other clubs?
Forget about the chat that they don't fit into Rodgers tik-tacky system. That is a diversion.
Carroll bless him, is trying to hang in there.
There is a lot going on that only agents know about.
The quality players, the few we have, are unsettled.
Why ?
As I said, forget about fitting into a system.
That is a diversion. Quality professionals can fit into any system.

Concerned Red.

Um, maybe the media need to sell papers and advertising whilst the agents like money?

Okay, this is really starting to bother me.

I haven't seen Reina linked with a club all bloody summer. Yet people still say he's probably going. Yeah, I get the logic, he's a very good player who's now entering his third season outside the CL, I could understand him wanting a move. But the way people are going on, you'd swear that Barcelona or AC Milan were publically declaring interest every day.

You say there's no smoke without fire, well I really haven't seen any smoke around Reina. The fire triangle is there, but no smoke.

Wait and see.
We are trying to balance the books, and no doubt will need to sell to do so.
Sad!.

This is not the first summer Reina is linked for a move away from the club. Saurez is linked to another club after Evra case. Johnson is high on wages, 'must play in RB position when fit' in his contract and also ed 001, ed 022 believes he may leave this summer.Skrtel and Agger may be due to CL football. Carrol does not fit in Rodger's plan.
This is completely out of Rodger's hand.
