does John Henry even like football?

04 Jul 2011 23:30:28
Hey ed:) What are the chance wee can buy this players from 1 too 10; Bo ek Do kal, Mathias "Zanka" J rgensen, Nicolai Boilesen, Christian Eriksen, Nicolai J rgensen, Frank Fielding, Ryan Bertrand, Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Henri Lansbury, Marc Albrighton, Daniel Sturridge, Nathan Delfouneso, C sar Azpilicueta, Javi Mart nez , Jeffr n Su rez, Adrian L pez, Bojan Krki , Juan Manuel Mata, Diego Capel, Ander Herrera, Thiago Alc ntara, Iker Muniain, Fabian Frei and Xherdan Shaqiri {Ed009's Note - I do not know of any real interest at any time in any of those players other than Mata, Muniain and Suarez, and the only one I see as having much chance of happening is Mata.}

Heard adam turned up to blackpool training but never trained any body else heard this?

04 Jul 2011 23:21:45
Could possibly be Doni signing there seems to be a lot of indications that the deal is very close. I hope it is a more exciting deal though rather than for a back up goalie. Doni is a great choice for a backup goalie however

hey Ed, the sun's shinning, we've nice beaches, waterside appartments. Maybe Mrs T and the little Tevez's would feel at home in a more attractive city. C'mon Carlos bring the other half and the kids to the scouse rivera What a load of bull, homesick - my ar*e, more like hates Mancini. Go on KK chuck in a bid. I've just made a "welcome to the north west" banner with his mush on ...Lol. ALB. {Ed009's Note - I would never welcome a player who is such a mercenary to our club.}

04 Jul 2011 23:09:21
ed, why do we want to offload insua? i think he has a lot of potential

04 Jul 2011 23:06:50
Liverpool to get lennon for 8 million plus aqualani and sign Adam and downing before next and brazillian goalie doni before Friday

04 Jul 2011 22:41:17
Eds, in your opinion, do you believe Enrique is good enough for our ambitions and for LFC. Would you sign him if you were KK? {Ed009's Note - I would rather see Izagguire or Cissokho but there is a real dearth in left back quality at the moment, and he is certainly not a bad player.}

04 Jul 2011 22:37:24
I have no idea who will sign for Liverpool. I would say that any player that joins this season (no European football) will want to sign for the club. I only hope that they display as much passion for LFC have as I (and many other fans). Reading through all the posts since the end of the season I have the impression that most fans weren't too impressed with the so-called targets that we had so I cannot understand what all the complaints are about. I am just waiting for all the youngsters that we have to break through. Alan Hansen is known for saying that ' you never win anything with kids' I think that in a couple of seasons time we will prove him wrong again

i'm into this site every day, great job ed's, but a qustion. with the new policy buying young british talents, why aren't players like freddy sears, fab delph or, albrighton or james tompkins mentioned? {Ed002's Note - Dear Mr Dalglish ....}

04 Jul 2011 22:27:06
Some people could make a fortune in the fertiliser buisness with some of the crap they come out with lol

04 Jul 2011 22:25:45

04 Jul 2011 22:23:30
nice to see the pictures of the team training and it looks all smiles around the place.keen looks like hes very happy and the one of carra and the king having a laugh is the best.also is andy carroll trying to grow the worst beard in history lol but at least he had a big smile on his face.we may not have signed any one else yet but things are looking good.owners king kenny the right coaches all there needs now is the kings choices coming in and i think we will right up there.it looks more of a united camp.what you think ed have you seen the pictures?DORSET RED {Ed002's Note - I have not seen the pictures but guessing the smiles were a result of wind.}

04 Jul 2011 22:22:16
Don't care who we sign, Ive got faith in KK and his staff to bring the best out of what we have, whilst developing the abundance of our young players. We will have a fit Stevie G, Big Carroll, Suarez more settled within the team, Henderson who will want to prove himself which will motivate others to raise their own performances. I must be different to alot of the other so called Reds on site, I'm positive and have faith. The Ed's must be on serious medication to remain upbeat when sifting through so much negativity. If you can't say something positive don't say it

04 Jul 2011 22:20:20
we should buy ERIK LAMELA from river plate if not him then ADAM JOHNSON.

TEAM LAMELA. {Ed002's Note - One is not available and one may be.}

04 Jul 2011 22:12:49
Carlos Tevez
Blah blah blah

04 Jul 2011 22:12:19
Ed ive been watching the u17 world cup and i must say the young german striker Yesuztil? something liike that is an unbelievable talent and no doubt would be a future world player of the year, we should closely monitor him M.C {Ed002's Note - MOTD fever?}

04 Jul 2011 22:01:02
ED - just watching the England - Germany U17 game, what do you think the chances of players like Sterling coming into the first team match day squad next year are? Who from the U17 and U19 and ever U21 do you expect to see more of next year?

04 Jul 2011 22:08:03
If we lose the battle to sign Mata.
I think we should lose to Man city, so we can sign Adam Jhonson.

That's why I say there is always hope and we should not think negative.
What do you say ed.

04 Jul 2011 22:04:24
liverpool have sent real madrid a offer for xabi alonso with includes Aquilani + cash , Aquilani does not want to play in prem and xabi alonso would love to return to liverpool , if this deal goes through the adam deal will be off too many center mids ,

04 Jul 2011 21:57:08
Liverpool have offered Acquilani and cash to Tottenham in return for Lennon.
They are also believed to have offered Bradford Joe Cole in return for Harrison and are considering an deal with Memphis FC for Elvis.
Consideration was given to Sunderlands McCartney but Ringo was considered more popular with the fans.

04 Jul 2011 21:53:35
hi eds, just seen on eurosport, lfc trying for a deal involving aquilani + cash for lennon. could this be true? {Ed002's Note - No idea.}

04 Jul 2011 21:50:55
Lucas Podolski left Bayern Munich to return to Cologne because he was homesick and couldn't stand to be away from his family. Now im no geographical genius, but im pretty sure that Munich is closer to Cologne than England is.....so exactly why would he move to England when he couldn't stand it in Munich???????????????

04 Jul 2011 21:48:37
Ed where do you think Henderson will play next season?Do you think he will start? I for one can't see him starting over Gerrard Meireles Aqua Lucas Adam maybe {Ed002's Note - He will ease in to midfield.}

04 Jul 2011 21:43:21
I don't care if Suarez "kisses the badge" or not when he scores.
He doesn't have to love the fans or club.
The only obligation he has is to stick that ball into the net; win us games. Finito. "Badge kissing or not".

Are you people going to turn down, say, Tevez because he doesn't play for the "badge" even if the bloke does his job with such distinction? Shallow, really.

We will only be signing young talent that is interested in playing for us, we might be missing out on some targets, but wasnt it said recently by John Henry:

"Sometimes the ones that you dont sign are as important as the ones you do"

ie If another club comes in with more cash and they choose them - well, we dont want them, and we wont be pulled into a bidding war to get them. We want players who want to play for us.

We need to be patient and listen to our owners, KK and DC - they are the experts
......but i do wish they would hurry up and sign a big name

a very good source of mine has told me nt to listen to any of the rumours what are flying around he said that liverpool fc are not giving any info on signing players and kk is playing his cards very close to his chest. due to liverpool missing out on the players liverpool have wanted in prev seasons.

04 Jul 2011 21:32:44
{Ed001's Note - we have brought in 3 players already and a coach, what are you on about? The window closes on August 31st you do realise that right?} who's the 3 players ed? Henderson who and who? {Ed001's Note - Henderson, O'Hanlon and for the life of me I can't think of the name of the other kid. Sorry my head is killing me but I am sure someone will know who I mean.}

04 Jul 2011 21:28:14
Biggest Hint yet who Liverpool will sign next.

I meet KK in a bar and asked him "who will be our next signing big man?" He looked at me straight in the eye and started to turn green. He then started to inflate and veins started to pop out everywhere. It was only when he started ripping at his shirt that the penny dropped.......

Hulk is ours

Hey eds, can i be an editor during the summer??PLS i have nothing to so otherwise...:'(

Please? :D

YoungRed {Ed001's Note - we would really prefer editors to be part of a long term team, it takes time to learn how to do it and gathering up contacts is an ongoing process. But there is nothing to stop you carrying on after the summer if you wish, there is no requirement to edit every day or edit many hours, anything can be a help. If you really want to do it, email me using the contact form with your details.}

Many would contend that a good argument is one which achieves what the arguer wants, not necessarily a sound or valid one.

So therefore, regarding Abramovich sacking managers "willy nilly", the man could and probably would argue that his club is always up there everyone, either winning the title or running the Scum close.

Which means that his sacking of managers and the manner in which he generally goes about his business is nothing less than effective.

As I said earlier, Abramovich is the sort of man who'll do what he has to do to get the job done.
Whether it's sacking managers, or generously rewarding his players.

As for Chelsea buying/bidding for players even when they don't have a manager, well, it's a way which has worked before, so why change it if it ain't broken?

Like it or not, folks, money talks, bulls**t.
It's why we ourselves are looking redeveloping Anfield. More money means being able to pay big fees and wages.

Tradition, honour and romance was long confined into the bin.
Football is mercenary.

04 Jul 2011 20:55:20
how did we lose out on clichy?? i hope we do not lose out on any further targets as that makes it 4 (marveaux, young, jones, clichy) any more we might have to start looking at players like wayne bridge....god forbid

please please kenny sign mata....he is without a doubt the best player we can get and need this summer

ed's who are we linked with in central defence? i have heard sakho mentioned but he will be expensive specially with psg getting new rich owners {Ed001's Note - we have looked at so many, it is strange that it has gone so quiet, my opinion is that it has gone quiet because we are busy getting the one we want with no fuss. The same way we got Henderson, a complete out of the blue surprise.}

04 Jul 2011 20:52:38
hey eds , just wondering what you think may happen with Spearing ? we've plenty of cms with more coming in . Do you think he'll leave or still be in the squad as backup / rotational {Ed001's Note - he will be in the squad and if he performs well enough he will play.}

04 Jul 2011 20:50:28
Why are people so upset about losing out on Clichy? He's a good player but not as good as he had the potential to be. Gibbs would be first choice at left back if fit all the time at Arsenal. Not calling Clichy as I think he'll do a job anywhere he goes but he isn't the loss of the century.
Got faith in King Kenny to get the right players in (not so much in DC but he could surprise us all) and improve the team next year.
I like our signings so far under FSG. Carroll has real potential and Suarez has already shown his class. Henderson is already a proven prem player and can only get better.
With regard the rumours, Downing wouldn't be a bad signing to provide experience and ammunition and Adam could be the guy who dictates our rhythm. Lucas was class last year but doesn't turn defence to attack like Alonso used to, which Adam can.
With Suso, Sterling, Robinson and a few others on their way, the only concern I have is that we haven't got a centre back who can swallow up on the deck and in the air. No offence to JC but age is going to catch up on him.
Hope we do get a Kjaer, Lovren, Cahill or Zapata but I suspect they are interested in other clubs. Sakho would fit the bill but PSG will not be selling. Dann - OK but will he stay fit ? Would like to see a real effort from FSG on this one.
Any chance of Kjaer/Lovren/Zapata/Cahill or Dann, Eds ?
Bear {Ed001's Note - you really wouldn't want Kjaer, he is terrible at his best! Not sure on the rest, though I hope we don't go for Cahill, he just looks to lump it long every opportunity.}

04 Jul 2011 20:41:29
I think we will sign Adam Johnson what's your thoughts ed? He fits all the bills {Ed001's Note - I would love it to be true, but first City need a replacement, then they need to be convinced to sell to us.}

04 Jul 2011 20:37:58
as a change of subject from transfers. anyone else really exited at the thought that a fully fit Andy Carrol could be f#####g amazing? (i know i know , 'he could be s##t', save yourself the trouble lol

I have been coming on this site for years now dropping in the odd comment as I passed. Back in the good old days when ED001 was a one man band and I can honestly say I have never seen so many whinging, negative, backstabbing, irritating, gullible people grouped together as there are on here now...

Still love coming here in the hope that some good news pops up but must say ED001 youve created a monster {Ed001's Note - please don't remind me, I am so sick of the negativity and whinging and whining! It is driving me up the wall.}

04 Jul 2011 20:32:55
I am not pessimist I think we will definitely sign some decent playeys by the time transfer window closes but I also think there are some problems in Liverpools transfer policy because we are missing on some of our targets which I think wanted to come to us , and I think it is all due to money.

So it will be a huge task to buy good players on low wages and for less fees because we are not offering europe this season.
But I like to believe that everything will be fine.

ED I would like to know from you that if we got some problems in transfer matters and if they exist what are they. {Ed001's Note - nothing other than not having Europe to offer them.}

04 Jul 2011 20:32:35
I've heard we've signed Wickham, Clichy and Marveaux wot a start to the transfer window,
Oh and we got 10m for Jovanovic

Oh i must of been dreaming we let other teams buy these players cos were to slow and give others away

Big Roge....

I just have to say that im unimpressed by the majority of supporters on this site in recent weeks. They seem to think that all contact being made with clubs in regards to players becomes public immediately. They also assume that Liverpool will not be signing any good players because were not in the Champions League and get really impatient and negative towards Kenny and co because no signings have been made yet and it seems to them that were losing out on players that were supposedly linked with. Another issue that seems to upset them is the situation with players wages and the ability to sell players no longer needed at the club.

I just want to say that those fans need to get realistic and at the moment are an embaressment to everyone involved with the club. We all know that we need, depending on who leaves, a left back, center back, left wingers, right wingers, a central midfielder and a striker to be brought in by the end of August. Regardless of who they may be, we know that John Henry tweeted on Twitter and stated that...

Don't believe the 200 or so stories on potential player "swoops."

Speculation on players shouldn't include those of a certain age. We are not going to be successful by merely filling short-term needs at LFC.

Everything in sports is overpriced now -especially the cost of winning. But you make your choices based on a plan.

I personally think that the growing imp I just have to say that im unimpressed by the majority of supporters on this site in recent weeks. They seem to think that all contact being made with clubs in regards to players becomes public immediately. They also assume that Liverpool will not be signing any good players because were not in the Champions League. I just want to say that those fans at the moment are an embaressment to everyone involved with the club. Regardless of who they may be, we know that John Henry tweeted on Twitter and stated that...

Don't believe the 200 or so stories on potential player "swoops." Now maybe if the rosters expand by 175 or so... Every day new names

Speculation on players shouldn't include those of a certain age. We are not going to be successful by merely filling short-term needs at LFC.

Everything in sports is overpriced now -especially the cost of winning. But you make your choices based on a plan.

I personally think that the growing impatience shown by fans has forced these type of comments to be made to reassure everyone that rumours in the papers are not entirely accurate at all, newspapers are business and rumours sell papers. They are in persuit of young quality players that are ideal to Kennys plans for the future. Players are over priced these days but if they see the player as a good choice for the club and the owners they will do all they can to bring them in. Work is being done behind the scenes and people who are not involved have no idea whats going on to make the club successful at every level. As you can see work has been done to the backroom side of things which is absolutely essential. Having a good start with fit and confident backroom staff and players is priority and generally overlooked by most of the fans

I thought that fans would of learnt a thing or two from Fernando Torres' situation. There is no point buying individuals for the long term, its no longer our transfer policy. Team Players who are young and want to play for the club and possibly have a sell on value are very welcome. If fans can't understand that then they need to stick to manager games. I personally think that once a player signs, the fans mood will change instantly. Juan Mata hopefully will be that signing but if not don't get irate and frustrated. The fact is Liverpool are in a much better position then they were last year. Much better. Progress is being made and work is being done behind the scenes. Don't let newspapers get you too excited or rumours on this site either. Liverpool are a club with passion and history that money can't buy. All these other clubs trying to emulate that are buying 'individuals' and have a lot of catching up to do. Keep the faith and stay positive because we will be signing quality players and I can bet my life that most of the players that we sign were not even linked with us. I do post rumours on this site too, so its all good sharing information of what could possibly happen. The editors are doing a great job and deserve alot of respect. There is plenty of time and it has only started. Keep the faith and wait for the great news. You'll Never Walk Alone.

Anybody else think that villa looking at nzogbia would be a like for like replacement for a certain winger? Instead people are saying we missed another target? Ever occured to anybody villa asked for time to sign nzogbia, they have the money from young don't need to buy to sell any thoughts eds? Welshboy Dave {Ed001's Note - they would have to be mad to let Downing go as well as Young, their squad was paper thin anyway. So replacements will be needed.}

04 Jul 2011 20:17:06
Everton have been invisible in the transfer market this summer and judging by their new strip, they want Tim Howard to blend in too... if he joins the army

04 Jul 2011 20:13:17
really dissapointing transfer window

all of us get so excited and we miss out on most of the targets, everyday i come on this website and there is 3 new players linked

people may argue kenny knows what he is doing and i am the kings biggest fan but atm it is very dissapointing

adam should be a done deal its back and forth 24-7 people saying it will be done in 24hrs haha awful load of bull s**t

people are so desperate for good news they make stuff up

we are desperate for fresh legs preferably english and young

sturridge
sinclair
tarrabrt

would love to see them in a red shirt

adam johnson too

milner is a waist

04 Jul 2011 19:56:13
Fact
I haven t got an immediate answer but I, ve been told on good authority the biggest issue in the way of bringing in new players is the existing wage bill at the club

04 Jul 2011 19:37:59
Looking at the photos on the LFC website of first day back. Aqualani looks miserable, Johnson looks like he has put on a few pounds, Carroll looks a beast (he will scare the s**t out of defenders), Pachecho looks like he is not trying too hard. Also the LFC website received 100million hits by 4.2 million fans last month. Come on we must be one if not the best supported club in the world Dont let those bluenoses stir the s**t with their jealously

04 Jul 2011 19:36:39
I would be happy to keep hold of Aquaman and also Meireles both are very clever players, S gerrard sat behind these two Suarez attacking from the left and kuyt from the right with Carroll up front Very attacking, obviously another natural winger would be ideal any off the X3 we have been linked with Downing, Mata and Johnson. the back four needs really a quality CB, Glenn Johnson LB and M Kelly RB, very strong eleven if we can solve that CB position.

heres to what you all think?

04 Jul 2011 19:30:58
hi eds-macca , why do u think we arent looking at pjanic , just like to know ur opinion on him thanks jeff {Ed001's Note - sorry I don't really know much about the player.}

04 Jul 2011 19:29:14
Bob, I was not at all being sarcastic.
The truth is that the game is what it is (money, money, money, money and more) and not what people want it to be.

History, tradition and honour will buy you very little, if anything.
Such things as pride and prestige are only relevant the player values them.

And the truth is that possibly 8 out 10 players would put forward money over the badge. Simple.
It's what the game has come to.

To try and conceal or sugar-coated this fact is, quite frankly, naive.
Whether or not you countenance Abramovich or Mansour's ways, they have a massive effect on us.

Their spending more or less make our job of competing a daunting one, in the transfer market and/or the pitch.

People dismiss Chelsea's successes as having been "bought" and therefore "meaningless". Shallow, I say.

What most don't realise one bit is that, Abramovich and Chelsea fans rather could not be bothered about "honour", "self-sufficience" etc.
To them, the overriding thing is that they've won trophies... what they exist to do.

They don't care if others don't respect their successes. Success is success self-sufficient or not, and success is good, brings joy.

For Roman, it's about doing what you have to do to get what you want; get the job done.
If it means paying £30m for Neymar and giving him wages of £170k, so be it.

When all is said and done, what the annals of the game will reflect is who won what, not how they won it
the latter piece of information is merely a tinpot irrelevance.

Regarding FFF rules "reining in" exorbitant spending by City and Chelsea, I think it's fair to say that both these teams have it, or will have it covered.

By the time these "rules" come into full force, Chelsea and City will have long had their books balanced and their houses spring-cleaned.
So the FFF is, well, bunk.

Regarding mercenary players. Look, if a player does his job well (a la Tevez, Toure Yaya, Kun Aguero), should it matter if they "kiss the badge" or not?

Last time I checked, players were paid to a) create goals, b) score goals and c) save goals. Basically, play football and do that very well.

Tevez scores goals for City... his job description. Nothing more less should be demanded of the man other than to just generously reward him.
Same goes for David Silva, Toure etc.

Another day gone and no transfer's in or out.Time is moving just a pity we are not moving with it.Another long season ahead.

04 Jul 2011 19:19:56
i dont understand all the talk about wingers , the problems at the back, carra getting to old, skirtil is never a centre half who has his arms all over forwards 4or 5 pens a year, aggar never of the treatment table, left back, go and give what newcastile are wanting, johnson well he can play on any side, so i am saying its alright to buy forwards but you have to keep it steady at the back

04 Jul 2011 19:01:29
All these people freaking out about a lack of transfer activity need to catch their breath for a minute. Try reading Brian Reades book 'An Epic Swindle' which describes the mess of the H&G regime. I'm more than happy with the way the club is now than I've ever been since the days of John Smith If you can't trust the judgement of Dalglish to do his best for the club then do us all a favour and do one.

So it seems Xabi Alonso id favourite to be real madrid captain next season do you think it will make it difficult to bring him back to anfield next year?

Rafa and RH are having the last laugh now....we can't get rid of the players they signed.
And you call Rafa a legend?haha
won things with Houlliers team mainly and the best players he got rid of.
No wonder any team wants him.

I was full of opptimism with the buying power in January, but it now seems the yanks are going back on their word (deja vue).
Or is DC not doing his job again?
By the time we sell players there might not be able to get replacements.
Wickham, Marveaux all went to other clubs because of contract disputes.
Good luck Kenny ;(

Hey Eds,
Just a couple points to make
1) just a little disappointed you didn't post my Charlie Adam post earlier, it was meant as a piss take
2) Can you explain why teams opt for a transfer fee to be undisclosed fee? Does it have any benefits ?
3) No else signed by first day of pre season training, sack both KK's , SC, DC, make FSG sell the club to Peter Risdale and release the whole current squad, not good enough I tell ya :p

Rebel_Red {Ed001's Note - I didn't see it sorry so no idea what you are on about. I have no idea, I think it should be illegal because it is usually done when shady backhanders are involved.}

04 Jul 2011 18:16:47
Hate to sound like one of the moaners but Clichy moving to Man City means we have missed out on yet another top target. Not going to blame KK and DC coz I guess the lack of European football (for 1 year IMO) has seriously proved detrimental to our transfer activity so far. Still fairly early days though I suppose :/

It appears that Arsenal & Chelsea are favourites to sign Scott Dann. Decent CB supports LFC but looks like he will go somewhere else

All the people on here saying be patient, trust kk, its only july.Stop giving yourselfs and others false hope.It takes time to buy and sell players and at the rate we are going it does not look good.It is one month since we signed henderson(time flys), we have sold no-one and bought no-one since then.Its time to walk the walk and no more talking the talk.

I am becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of clout that Dalglish has, we keep being linked with this player and that player....actually no big signings will be made because we have no european football, who in their right mind would leave a european playing team for a domestic team? these are the only players that will have us challenging for honours, we are in the middle of a desperate time for our club and i cant see a way out of it no one will buy the players we want to sell because of the wages....very sad fan :-(

Looks like there is some concern over Enrique's availability. Man City having previously bought Wayne Bridge and then at the start of last summer Aleksander Kolarov for a combined £31m, added Jerome Boateng for £10.4m, Joleon Lescott for £23m, and now have spent £7m on Gael Clichy. That takes them to over £70m on left backs still with the squad (not withstanding that in some league games, Milner, Johnson and Micah Richards also played / covered that spot). I believe that Mancini has a target in his mind of getting to £100m of talent in one position - cue a £20m bid for Enrique and £10m for err - who wlse is there - Konchesky? Genuine question though - how much of that £70m would he get back if he sold those left back now...?

04 Jul 2011 16:02:28
Heard in Italy (been there two weeks now just outside Turin) that Aquilani is begging for Juve or any Italian team to take him on even at cut price salary.
He's putting a brave face on the return to Anfield but desperately wants to remain in Italy.
I for one would be delighted to see the back of him.
The talk over here has always been that they couldn't see him holding up in the PL when he couldn't do it Italy and that when the bid came in for him from Rafa it was unbelievable.
He has skill undoubtedly , but not the mental toughness to go with our league.

04 Jul 2011 16:00:48
ed can you please explain to of what signing on fees means as in the case of jovanovic

thanks
kop763 {Ed002's Note - When a player joins on a "free transfer" invariably it is not free, just the no fee is poid to teh club he is joining from. Instead of this, the player is paid a signing on fee either as a lump sum or in the case of Liverpool, spread across the length of their contract. So, if a player has a £2M signing on fee and a four year contract, an extra £10k per week will be added to his wages. If a player leaves at teh request of teh club before the term of his contract is up, typically, the remaining portion of the signing on will be paid as a lump sum. If a player is released, this would be augmented by the cost of any wages remaining as well.}

Liverpool have made another move to strengthen their hand ahead of the new season, but this one is a behind the scenes appointment as Kevin Keen has joined Kenny Dalglish's backroom staff.

Keen had spent the previous nine seasons at West Ham, where the coach took over as caretaker manager on three occasions - including the final game of last season, a 3-0 Upton Park defeat by Sunderland in the wake of Avram Grant's sacking.

And the reputation he garnered there was enough to persuade Liverpool to hire him on a three-year contract ahead of former Anfield favourite Gary McAllister, who had fulfilled a similar caretaker role at Aston Villa last term, and ex-Chelsea coach Paul Clement, who became an early casualty of Andre Villa-Boas arrival at Stamford Bridge.

Keen becomes Liverpool's first team coach to replace Sammy Lee, whose 35-year association with the club as first a player and then a coach was brought to an ubrupt end

Ed002, Kevin Doyle to Arsenal for 12M this week. Wallcott wants to play as a striker. RVP likes to play on his own up front but can't stay healthy. Bendtner looks like he's off and Gervinho looks like he may be joining them too. Do you think Chamahk could be available to us and do you rate him. I think he was frozen out too early by Wenger last year. Think we could get him for 8M. Your thoughts??

Chi-Paul {Ed001's Note - RVP likes to play as a winger, wants to play as a winger and is not a lone striker and does not want to play as one.}

It has come to my attention that many people seem to be reading the title of arumour on a website and taking it at face value.
The rumour of a £20m pound player-exchange with Tottenham for Aaron Lennon is not Aquilani and £20m. It is Aquilani and £8m which is being considered to be worth £20m as Liverpool are valueing Aquilani at about £12m.
I doubt this will happen but just carifying what the actual rumour is.

Personally I think we should be offloading Aquilani but not for Lennon and certainly not for that much. He is a very average player who cannot cross a ball.

I would prefer any of these wingers; Turan, A.Johnson, Mata, Carzola and as much as I dislike him if we could get him for £15m tops Downing. Although that is incredibly unlikely.

04 Jul 2011 15:46:33
In order to get rid of some of the deadwood we should should tell their agents to pull their fingers out and find a new club for them. If they dont we should keeep them on until the end of their contracts and never play them even in the reserves. When the contract runs out tip them in the street. Nobody will want them as thay havnt played and they will have to get a job more suitable to them like the rest of us. Whoever signed Ngog, Poulson etc wants shooting my 11 years old son is better.

Rumour has it that Charlie Adam had a medical with Liverpool last Thursday ?
Dalglish really wants Adam & the player has told Oyston he wants Liverpool , it is just Oyston who is the stumbling block and it is over the players valuation.

I just got some shocking news from a very reliable source. It seems that we are not negotiating for Adam anymore, the negotiations are taking too long and it is clear that LFC aren't going to pay what Blackpool is asking for. Kenny will take a better look at Aquilani before deciding whether he fits the bill Kenny is looking for before deciding to keep him or sell him.
Great site btw eds, keep up the good work.

Whats going on all we heard for the last 4 to 5 months is how we were going to be very busy in the transfer window, seems to me we have got rid of none of the dead wood (poulsen, javanovic, ngog, insua, aquaman and cole to name a few) are still draining money every week. i know u cant move them all on that fast but not 1 of them are gone and are all back in training today because lord knows they werent needed by national teams (rubbish). Are we able to move for anyone else in the market without gettin rid or are we going to loose out on more potenial signings because of wage bill. worried this is another window wasted cleaning up the mess instead of moving forward and upward. Please place this in rumour section, i want to see is everybody else as worried as i am or are they still going to come on and write a list of 5 players at 15 to 20 million each (get real). Thanks ed.

Do I want a football mercenary in my club ? Hell no, I want someone who wears the jersey with pride and commitment. We want players who see the bigger picture, not just the pound signs. I could give several examples of football mercernaries, for example, Craig Bellamey, is the perfect example, club after club, any sign of trouble and they're off, do u really want these types in your team, when your trying to build for the future, simply no

I am not been a football romantic or cinical, but money is quickly destroying our game, I acknowledge that the game needs money to survive, but the expectance of players, managers and coaches to deliver results automatically has gotten to point of been ridiculous.

This has not been just evident in the premiership, I can't remember who it was last season, but there was some manager in league 1 I think, who was 4th in league , lost a couple of matches and got the sack( possibly rotheram , open to correction) . The point I am making is that although money is needed, its not everything, chairmen must stop interfering and let managers manage, it's not always gonna be roses.
Successful teams don't sign mercenaries , they sign people who are up for the fight.

04 Jul 2011 13:28:40
I'm still pondering whether the post about mercenary players is a sarcastic swipe or whether the poster is genuinely fond of mercenaries. Granted there are some positives to buying these types of players but the negatives far outweigh them.

Mercenaries think of one thing, well two actually themselves and their wealth, how that can ever be conducive to good team spirit I do not know. They are very insular and do not for one minute look at the bigger picture. They have agenda's and motives that are not in keeping with the ideas or beliefs of the club and/or the fans. This manifests itself in many ways and the fans in particular absolutely hate it.

It's a team game. You need all the players to pull in one direction. Any chink in the chain and it can be harmful. You need the player to want to play for the club, the manager and the fans. It is this 'hidden' ability/quality that is crucial, it cannot be taught or manufactured. It cannot be turned on or off. We have all played for clubs with managers that we would run through the proverbial 'brick wall', likewise we have played for clubs that you never felt settled at or a manager who was just a complete arse. The contrast in performances is evident for the individual.

Football mercenaries are and will be, the ruin of football and if you buy one then you deserve what you get from them. Any player who chooses to play for a club for wealth first I would not touch with a barge pole.

Players like Barry who said he would only leave his beloved Villa for a club in the CL and on the face of it, you could hardly blame a player for being ambitious then leaves for City who weren't even in Europe at the time when Villa actually were Let us not forget Robinho and his infamous first media interview when he said he was "delighted to have signed for Chelsea" Yep really have the love of the club in mind.

Oh and the mention of Chelsea. This is where Ed002 and myself will have a disagreement. Do you really think Chelsea are fortunate to have Abramovich? Personally I think he's turned that club into a laughing stock and they didn't need much in any event.

The sacking of managers willy nilly, the interference in which players should be bought, who should be played. He has thrown money at this project, got the short term gain of winning the PL. The moment he stopped managers buying £30M players the club started to 'struggle'. Boom and bust is the way forward to Chelsea nowadays. Let's buy a centre forward the manager doesn't want and lets buy a centre half who the manager doesn't rate, then let's sack this manager at the foot of the stairs of a rival club after a press conference. Abramovich thinks the only way forward or the only solution is to throw money at a problem.

There is no way on earth any manager worth his salt would contemplate going to Chelsea, unless it's for money. It's the same with the players. Chelsea attract mercenaries, like moth's to a flame or they either find some kind of kinship with the owner. How can a club bid for a player when they haven't even got a manager in place in the event of the failed Modric bid? Hilarious.

Don't expect to engender any kind of team spirit when you have mercenaries in your team, whilst they will be very talented and capable of turning a game on its head, the carnage they create in not so obvious ways on and off the pitch will be far more damaging. But by then they've already hit the airport and checking in elsewhere counting your money in their hands. If you happen to have a mercenary as an owner like Chelsea, then oh dear you reap what you sow.

So whilst players like Tevez, Balotelli, Torres, Yaya Toure will provide instances of brilliance on the pitch, don't expect them to kiss the badge and mean it. They don't. They won't see their contracts out either and will be off at the first sign of any hassle.

The role of the mercenary has evolved since the days of Winston Bogarde, who was comfortable and extremely happy sitting in the stands on £40k per week (back in the day that was a lot of money) and rejecting all talk of a move to other clubs until his contract ran out.

Nowadays the mercenaries want to play but it's on their terms, no one else's. Whilst the Sheik's and Abramovich are still here and ruining the game then they will continue to attract likewise players, leaving our club free of danger.

Seriously would you want Juan Mata if Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool were in for him and he turns round and says to us "Pay me what City will pay for me and I'm yours" I'd tell him where to shove it, or would you want a player who says "I'm going to turn down Man City's offer of £300k a week and sign for LFC because I want to play for them for football reasons and not financial reasons"

If you love mercenaries Chelsea and Man City are the team for you.

We must try to be patient in this transfer window. It is very annoying I know and I would love 5 or 6 signings major signings.

I even downloaded the old champ man 01/02 with a new 2011 update and spent all evening trying to buy some of the big names that we all want, Mata, Pastore, Hazard etc and ironically I couldn't sign them either It was frustratingly annoying and realistic.

Rumours - Doni will sign by the end of the week and the Adam and Downing deals are coming to an impasse, if there is no movement by the later stages of this week we will look elsewhere (Turan for instance).

Great site eds, I always have a check to see if any activity is being reported by Liverpool but it's a quiet one so far and I personally think this may have always been on the cards.
This may not be the case but maybe all the names mentioned have been not so much a smoke screen, but to keep some LFC supporters happy as they feel that we need to strengthen the team by purchasing this player or that player, but with the likes of Young, Wickham, Jones all having been rumoured with a possible Anfield move and then ending up elsewhere when we clearly have the money and are capable of getting deals done quick ie Carroll/ Henderson to me thinks we are not in such a dire need to get players in and I like the way that Marvaux went to toon, because of money it shows that we are not going to bend over for anyone and present them with stupid money
We have no European competition this year so therefore not so much need for such a large squad and I feel that we have more than enougth younger talent to blood into the team over this season, I hope that LFC can cut some of their wage bill this year and would not be too disappointed if we signed no-one else and got rid of a few that don't really bolster the squad as in Degen, El Zhar, N'Gog, Poulson maybe loan out Shelvey, Pacheco and Insua and hate to say it sell Meireles who was quality the tail end of last season but I think he may be the only player we can get any real profit from.
If we do sign anybody I hope we can get Mata in as I feel he is the only real quality player that we have been linked to and have a chance at getting, bar that signing I'd be more than pleased to see the likes of Darby, Kelly, Robinson, Henderson, Carroll become premier league regulars so that they form a solid spine for the next few seasons.
I also hope that we can use the FA/League cups to give the likes of Suso, Amoo, Sterling, Wilson, Flanagan, Morgan more experience.
Well I know we all want quality players to sign for our beloved red shirt but in this day and age of stupid wages and rediculous player price tags I hope that LFC use the talent we have.
We can use this season to give the younger players more match fitness, more game time, more competition for squad places and therefore hopefully cementing some acadamy talent in the first team and also the prospect of selling them fo a tidy sum next year once were back in the Champions League and they show their talent.
Anyway I just thought I'd have a banter post as I could, this season is going to be immense, its nice to have a confidence at the start of the season I really do think we'll be pushing for the top spot this year

04 Jul 2011 12:56:13
just a bit of banter, I always thought Joe Cole was "agent bluenose" sent by chelsea to infiltrate anfield and ruin the season for us, sendings off, missed penalties, injuries etc.. and now he has proved he is a blue loving chelski scummer with his team selection for the fantasy all time five a side squads listed on the LFC website, heres his pick :-

Joe's team: Cech, Terry, Carrick, Lampard, Di Canio.

So is every one still of the believe we are doing things behind closed door's.If you do you really are gulible.If we were doing it this way why doe's everyone that can listen know we are in for downing and adam.If we were in for other players there would be leaks no doubt about it.The facts are we are in for no-one else because commoli has not got a clue.Both spurs and arsenal cannot both be wrong.

Patients is a virtue folks, i, like every poster on here, is a die hard red, and wants, CRAVES for the board and management to rebuild our once fantastic team into world beaters again, but, we all MUST have faith in KK and DC. They are privy to information regards players etc that we will probably never know about. Its only thanks to the Eds that we even get CLOSE to some info, and they should be thanked at every turn for their brilliant commitment to the site. So, in short people, as the old saying goes: "STAY CALM AND MOVE ALONG" In the King we trust.

04 Jul 2011 12:46:35
Why does everyone go on about CL football, it's not the be all and end all of a reason why players come to a club, money is a lot of the time, but sometimes it might be the pestige of the club and the players they have.
Suarez came and LFC even close to getting into europe and not that many high profiled players went to Spurs when they qualified for the CL, as for Man City it is just pay day for them.
The biggest clubs can always attract the best players, but don't want to pay over the top prices or wages.
Also a bit worried about DC as he has a habit of letting young quality players slip thru his fingers judging by what people say about himHe has unearthed a couple of gems but missed a hell of a lot a well (allegedy).
Anyway looking forward to the new season regardless of who comes in/goes out cause with KD running the team things look good:)

Aquilani is back in pre season training wearing number 4 on his shorts, don't know if this signals the end of raul or not, am I reading too much into this eds?
Jb {Ed002's Note - I have no idea why Liverpool supporters care quite so much about squad numbers. If the players had a decent sense of humour, they should perhaps have some kit made up with different numbers on.}

Just a little bit of info on Ray Wilkins for those who have been asking why he wasn't approached. Since he left Chelsea in 2000 he had a year & a bit at Millwall I think, then he got the call from Ancellotti last year & he survived just over a season & a half before getting the bullet. Very nice bloke indeed & seemed to be the players mate at Chelsea, but his record ain't by anyway outstanding or close to it. Maybe he was hired at Chelsea as a communicator while Carlo learned the Lingo :-) Ed002?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - Ray Wilkins was already at Chelsea when Ancelotti arrived. He is generally much liked by players. I am not sure if you have any specific question though. We are not going to discuss his reason for leaving the club.}

A source close to Mata has revealed the player's favoured destination as Anfield, with due consideration being given to any interest shown by Damien Comolli.

"If Liverpool are interested, then the player would also be interested to hear from them, " said the source.

"While they are not playing in Europe next season, that would not be a hindrance, because Liverpool is a club with a big tradition."

Just wondering what fans thoughts are on the stadium proposals? I would usually prefer to stay at anfield personally, however, after looking around at proposals and sketches online, a new stAdium could do wonders 60,000-73,000 seats, roof design over the kop end designed in a way to increase the kops volume and so on Anyways, thoughts please from eds and fans {Ed002's Note - I rather expect a refurb at some point.}

Exactly what's people's beef with mercenary players like your Tevezs, Yayas, Agueros, Barrys, Balotelli?

I respect such players, mainly for two reasons: one, with them, what you see is what you get, very honest players.
And two, mercenary players are a very dedicated group of workers, perhaps the most dedicated of all other professionals.

You pay them and they get the job done. Take at Tevez and Toure Yaya.
The former scored a shetkoad of goals while the latter did terrificly in nullifying the opposition, creating scoring chances and even chipping in with some important goals.
Mancini was smug and Sheikh very pleased. No complaints.

And to be fair, I wouldn'd complain either.
I'd have loved to have all or anyone of Tevez, Super Mario, Barry, Toure Yaya and Aguero at Anfield.

They know what they want in the game and are very clear about and they'll earn their money, which means success for me.
This route is very efficient.

Chelsea's successes bear good testimony to this. We all remember how Abramovich went about swooping for the finest money-grabbers around when he first descended upon these shores.
A year or two later glory came, all and sundry was happy.

That's what I like most about signings mercenary players. You get results; no dilly dallying. The rewards are quite generous.

The game should consider very fortunate to have people like Roman Abramovich and the Sheikh. Putting their money in the game has benefited many a small team (Everton made a handsome profit in the Lescott deal).

By rewarding them kindly, these blokes keep players happy and happiness in a team is a the starting point.

Yet these great man are given grief, week in week out. Such a shame.
Ed002, Mr My Friend, you're very lucky to have Roman.
Hope you appreciate him.

Regardless of the peasants say about the Sheik and Roman, these men do what they have to do to get what they want. They're go-getters.

It's because of those traits that today City and Chelsea are looking to do deals for players of the calibre of Pastore, Sanchez, Modric, Aguero, Sneijder etc.
Whilst we LFC are salivating at the prospect of signing Downing, Adam, Enrique etc.

"We a club with history and tradition. Go support s**tty" I hear you.
Well, I don't remember who was it that said, but he was right; history is bunk.
It's only of importance to the person who takes intererst in it or is affected by it.

Our history to us LFC fans is important. Is it to Mata, Lucas Moura, Balotelli, Sanchez, Eriksen, Hazard?
I wouldn't have thought so.

Modern football is about the here and now.
It's about being relevant, now, in the spotlight, now.
That's just the reality of it. Romance died a lot time ago in football.

Like it or not, mercenary footballers ARE the future; football IS mercenary.
All the peasants and romanticists would do well to take that and put it in their pipes.

Hi eds and fellow posters I have just come back off me holidazys a sunny week long trip down to Littlehampton West sussex.Would rate it for anyone looking for a cheap as holiday.I have read a few posts and see that Liverpool have just added to the backroom staff and the departure of Sammy Lee who I believe struggled at Liverpool and maybe its better for him to not hold such a high profile role no one was in doubt about his love for the club but his ability was lacking.I dont know much about this keen so wont be commenting unlike everyone else who seems to know more about him than King Kenny.
Whats been up anyway eds has it been the usual posts of doom and utter depression at the fact we havent signed anyone and we are now a mighty four days into the international window.

RED WILL {Ed002's Note - I guess you need to take the time to do some reasing.}

according to liverpools website we have been linked to 66 players in a month, quite baffling to say the least, to be honest all this speculation does my head in, liverpool are going back to the good days where transfer targets are not discussed in the media until there is actually a deal to be done i.e henderson that came out of the blue really and completed very quickly, the adam, downing situation is obviously down to there clubs valuation and liverpool not prepared to pay it, for me adam johnson would be a far better signing and mayb n'zogbia at half the price of downing

On the Kevin Keen debate, here are the 1st team coaches of the top 6 clubs;

Man U Rene Meulenstein
Chelsea Paul Clement
Citeh David Platt
Arsenal Boro Primorac
Spurs Joe Jordan
Liverpool Kevin Keen

Cant see anybody there that you would recognise as a top coach My point being that just because they are not a well known name, doesnt mean they arent a good coach

John Wigan {Ed002's Note - Paul Clement is not at Chelsea any longer.}

I personally feel that we will only sign downing and all the other signings will be surprises to us like the henderson deal. I think the adam deal is dragging on too long for lfc to stay and wait. What do you think ed? I know you get asked this every day but do you feel the adam deal has got any closer since he was ment to have a medical after the Miss uk contest? {Ed002's Note - Nothing as far as I know has changed. If it does I will say if nobody else picks up on it.}

morning all and eds,

is it me or is all our rivals getting in there first with bids for big name playsers?

not that i doubt KK " KING KENNY " not nevin keen haha :P

ive got faith in him and always will, to my dismay all i see and hear bout is the rest of top 4/5 clubs going for big names highly rated players, some of which we could have in our team,

theyd be better off at us would make us alot stronger and they would get regular first team games, i know i sound like cry baby but iys only an opinion lol

does anyone agree or disagree?

REDMARKO {Ed002's Note - Which players are these? Liverpool are, as we know, making a concerted effort to close in on a couple of deals.}

Sorry i got's Clarke's timescale of club's wrong, but it we still got him when he was unemployed. Gist of it is just because Keen aint a big name doesn't mean he cant coach. An extreme example of a s**te player who turned into a top coach, Wenger.Played about conference level in France and he aint done to bad. Jonson6

Hi, I do enjoy this site. Mostly laughing at some of the rumours. However I must ask who is this Ed and why are his marks out of ten so important? And more importantly are they credible? I don't want to take anything away from 'Ed' as the upkeep of this site is very well done but it would seem some people think the holy Mark out of ten is the be all and end all of comings and goings at anfeild.

As for transfers I think the only certainty is there is money to spend, and quite a bit it would seem. But as for signings I think KK and DC would like to keep there business as secret as possible, personally I like it like that. So maybe Mata, Aguero, Neymar and Bale are going to walk out in red in august, maybe not. Lets just wait and see eh?

Did Jose offer Steve Clarke a job in Madrid? Was Steve Clarke bounceing around clubs from Chelsea to Newcastle to West Ham. Progessingly going from a top club to a bottom club via a team who thinks their a big club because of their stadium. And not aimed at the previous poster, but i've heard why didn't we go after Ray Wilkins. He was ment to be a top assistant manager/coach. Didn't see or hear Europes top clubs climbing over each other to employ him. Give the guy a chance, i'm 100% sure K.K will have done his due dilligence on Keen before appointing him to a coaching position. I've not seen anywhere yet that his title is first team coach, as Ed001 confirmed before, and i wouldn't be assed if he was. Suppose its another reason for some fans to piss and moan about, instead of the perception that the club are sat on their asse doing nothing in the way of trying to the up deals and bring players in. I came across this and thought I would share it with my fellow red's.....
Delay In Cesc Fabregas Deal Owing To Cesc Fabregas Growing A New Head

There has been too much uncertainty surrounding the Cesc Fabregas saga for too long now. One day you have Sandra Rossell s menagerie proclaiming that their baby is powdered, dressed up and ready to serve at the hungry Camp Nou; and the next day you have the knights of North London tutting at Spain s lack of dignity and refusing any sort of contact between the two clubs at all. Well, one thing BigFourZa doesn t like is uncertainty, and so our Irreverent Reporter sniffed the air for traces of truth like the bloodhound he is, sneezed furtively, and then sauntered off to uncover any shenanigans taking place.

I: La Masia Academy, Barcelona, Spain

Cesc walks in through the academy gates, a small smile on his face. He remembers his formative years with much fondness, the triangles of tiki-taka, breaking bread with Lionel Messi, Loretta the cafeteria lady-

Hola Cesc Sandra Rossell calls out. He strides up to Cesc, hand outstretched and shamelessly beaming.

Hola, Signor Rossell, Cesc says politely. He reciprocates the handshake and cringes, Rossel s hand feels like a dead, scaly salmon.

So, all ready to join Barcelona, yes?

Cesc looks around. He sees lots of youngsters in Blaugrana colours running with the ball, their rosy cheeks flushed. A few toddlers are practicing throwing marbles into the Champions League trophy.

Yes, he says. Barca is my boyhood club, I have always dreamt of returning and playing here one day. If the transfer goes through, I d be more than happy to come here.

Of course the transfer will go through, Rossell says, patting his head as Cesc shivers in repulsion. You just have to do your bit to make it work.

I m sorry Signor Rossell, but I m not going to force a transfer, I wo-

No, no. Nothing to unpleasant as that. It will just involve pushing some buttons, Rossell says, his smirk still apparent.

Buttons?

Si, Rossell says, pushing a remote into Cesc s hands. You know Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin, yes? Your new Arsenal teammates? Go up to them when they re at the Emirates; they will always be together as per instructions. Ask Bellerin to open his mouth, and then press the red button on your remote.

Wha-

And then you ll need to vacate the premises within ten minutes. I ve already mailed you a flight ticket, and saucy magazines to flip through during the journey. Godspeed, Cesc.

Umm, no, Signor Rossell. I m not going to help blow up the Emirates, Cesc said, aghast.

We really need you here, Cesc, David Villa says, caressing his left cheek.

You re the last strand in the grand Barcelona plan, Andres Iniesta says, caressing his right cheek.

We ll be bench buddies, you and I, Javier Mascherano says, stroking his left thigh.

We ll snack on Loretta the cafeteria lady s late afternoon munchies again, Gerard Pique says, stroking his right thigh.

You complete me, Cesc, Xavi Hernandez says, standing in front of Cesc and opening his lips in a hideous pout.

Cesc dislodges himself from all the stroking, caressing and pouting and hurriedly legs it for the exit. He glances back and sees the Barcelona first team trying to make a YMCA style SEXY CESCY . He doesn t look back again.

II: London Colney, England

Cesc walks in through the academy gates, a small smile on his face. He remembers making the step up from Spanish starlet to club talisman here, running rings around Vieira, many friendships, jumping on Arshavin s stomach between training sessions-

Cesc Thank God you re here, Arsene Wenger says, scurrying forward and clasping his hand fervently.

Arsene, I-

You see I told you, Arsene says, turning around and facing the rest of the Arsenal team. Cesc notices that they re all carrying suitcases with them. I told you Cesc would be staying with us next season. There s no need for any panic. We re set for next year. Have you seen Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin play, they re really good-

Cesc, Robin van Persie says, are you staying next season?

Erm..I m not blowing up the Emirates, Cesc says.

Van Persie shakes his head and hands his Arsenal jersey in to Wenger. An artist s life for me, then.

Other players soon follow suit, handing in their jerseys.

Manchester City, Clichy says.

Drag queen finishing school, Rosicky says.

The highest bidder, Nasri says.

Borussia Dortmund, Sporting Lisbon, Benfica and the other 27 clubs who have bid for me, Bendtner says.

Zoo entertainer, Gunnersaurus Rex says.

Don t worry boss, I m staying, Almunia says.

On hearing this, the rest of the team and most of the Reserve team troops out as well, leaving the forlorn figures of Arsene Wenger, Manuel Almunia and Cesc Fabregas in the middle of the pitch.

Wenger sighs but there s steel in his eyes, Don t worry, Cesc. We ll get through this. I m going to build my entire team around you now. I have these insane kids in my colony; you should see their skillz. And we still have your two Barca mates.

Cesc looks over at Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin, who stare back. Bellerin opens his mouth.

Cesc shakes his head and slowly trudges away, holding his head in his hands and moaning.

III: Cesc Fabregas s Residence, Sometime In The Night

Our Irreverent Reporter (IR)Â diligently follows Cesc all day and waits outside his apartment for any untoward signs. He hears screams of agony rent the air, bestial shouts that worry him. He weighs his options, and enters the vestibule of insanity Cesc s home has become.

He knocks on Cesc s bedroom, and a weird, echoey voice bids him to enter. He goes in to find a two-headed Cesc Fabregas sitting on the bed. The Irreverent Reporter (IR)Â doesn t break his stride, he s seen many stranger things in his time. He flicks out his writing pad and gets straight down to the business of removing uncertainty from this transfer saga.

Cesc, where will you be playing next season? he says

Arsenal, says the left head.

Barcelona, says the right head.

The Irreverent Reporter (IR)Â scratches his chin, this was something he hadn t envisioned.

Don t listen to this muppet, I m staying at Arsenal next season. Barcelona players are creepy and touch me weirdly; and I don t want to be bench buddies with Javier Mascherano, he reminds me of a Mexican rapist, the left head says.

I would rather hobnob with Mascherano than give football tuitions to fifth graders, which is what Wenger will make me do, the right head says. The Arsenal trophy room will become a heritage site soon, and I don t want to stick around that long.

Balls to you, the left head says.

Balls to you, the right head says.

Both of them stick their tongues out and spray each other with spittle. A few seconds later, they let out a collective sigh and a drooping of shoulders is noticed.

We have a slutty mother in Barcelona, and a beer-guzzling father in Arsenal. We wish we had better parents, they say.

And THAT is what the truth is.

Reading a few of the earlier posts re some fans not happy with Kevin Kean's appointment. If we dont carry on the good work from last season and continue to improve and search for the top four minimum. We know who's fault its going to be, his initials are k.k but it wont be the King getting the flak. To me it looks like we've just done a straight swap for Sammy Lee and i think we've got the best out of the deal. Lets give the guy a chance before everyone kills him. I doubt K.K would've appointed him if he didn't feel like he'd make a major contribution behind the scenes. Good luck Mr Keen, hope your grad this opportunity with both hands and prove your doubters wrong. Jonson6 P.S, Note to Kevin Keen, change your name by dead poll to Giovanni Sanchez, get on the sunbed, and those doubter's will soon be on your side mate.

Dear Eds,

I would firstly like to thank the eds in maintaining the site. On the matter of transfers, I'm rather concerned at the lack of movement. It's said all transfer matter are being dealt with in the background but nothing seems to have been finalized. Our main priority was to act and approach targets straight away, avoiding bidding wars but we've already missed out on a few players (Jones, Young and now Clichy). I seem to read 'Aguero is joining' blah blah for the past few months, and to be frank, Aguero will never sign for us, FACT In 'Kenny we trust' as the saying goes but am I the only person worried?

04 Jul 2011 00:19:03
Ed001, now that Kevin Kean is bored as a coach now. Do you think Liverpool will officially name Steve Clarke assistant manager? I know his title was first team coach last season, but as you've alluded to on more then one occasion he was in all but in name K.K's number 2 last season. And whats your opinion of the appointment? To me it looks like were adding even more stability to the club to go along with the new signing's that will defo arrive. I for one am happy were we are at the moment and cant wait just for the friendley's to start never mind the Prem. Jonson6 {Ed001's Note - I am not sure what will happen with Clarke, I would expect him to be named assistant manager, but it is impossible to second guess them these days! We are clearly short handed on the coaching side of things, I expect a few more appointments to follow Keen in the door before the season gets underway.}

Rumours have it that Yossi is making a return this summer seems a strange one to me tbh, granted he's got a a couple of years left at his peak but no resale value or time to improve. Opinions?

Personally i think Keen is a good appointment but don't see him neccessarily as Sammy Lee's replacement. Looking on the LFC site at the club staff page there does seem to be a distinct lack of coaches anyway. Pepe still hasn't got a keeping coach since Rafa's backroom staff left. John Achterberg is down as the reserve keeping coach only. Keen could be the first of a few coaching appointments.

04 Jul 2011 00:09:46
i truely hope we dont sign downing dont rate him at all. Adam will sign but do we need him ..... no as much as i trust the king i fear he is flooding the wrong areas we need a left back, 2 wingers and a striker no more centre midfielders

03 Jul 2011 23:47:35
why do people on here have to criticise those who dont agree with the appointment of kevin keen, , , just cos u r happy with it dont mean everyone has to like it...imo i would of preferred clarke to remain as first team coach as hes great at it, , and we should of went for ray wilkins as assistant as hes great at that.....but we cant change things so ill give him a chance before i stat calling for him to be sacked.
