Hey guys I have just been reading gary monks views on torres and suarez having played them both in the last week, here's what he had to say Monk, believes the Reds did good business shifting Torres and bringing in Luis Suarez after facing both strikers.

The defender, 33, said: "I came here on a free when we were in League Two and he's cost £50m! I didn't give him a yard. Just kept with him “ we all did.

"There are hundreds of players overpriced. It's not his fault that Chelsea paid that sort of money for him.

"But with the price tag comes a lot of responsibility.Once you don't perform, everyone is on your back.

"Clearly Torres has quality though. You could see that with Suarez at Liverpool too, he's a good player. He is Marmite to a lot of people but out of everyone he is the best. He's the best this season I have seen by miles. At last a footballer talking sense

Robbie j

If he is talking strikers in general it's rvp at united. And no I'm not a united fan but as a striker he's the best in the league.

Players peak at different ages. They also burn out at differevt ages. Torres is not the same player he was when he was with us. At that time he was rated as one of the best in the world by virtually everbody. Even though he is around the same as Van Persie they reached their peaks at different times. Van Persie showed promise but was never as highly rated as he now is. He just peaked last year. Players like Owen & Fowler peaked & where then shadows of themselves by the age of 27. Maybe because they started so young. The question of who is better can only be answered when they have retired & we look back on their careers.

Id say RVP is the best goalscorer in the league but Luis is by far the best forward

Suarez end product is wasteful!

I think suso is being hung out to dry on the wings he should play in sahins position or come on for him for the last half hour. Sterling is doing a fine job

''I'm disgusted with people who's criticizing Brendan Rodgers after only 10 games. I haven't seen Liverpool play this good in a very long time, amazing to see how Brendan even fits in the younger players.
That's something incredibly hard to do as a manger, i admire Brendan's work as a manger''. - Kenny Dalglish

Chi-Paul

There!

Jack D.

Wow slap Kenny's name on a post and all the people who have been moaning about Rodgers agree? I agree with Kenny but I also had that opinion at the beginning and end of every game this season.

We're much closer to a brilliant team than we are a bad one. Thought today's performance was pretty good, however it was very similar to many over performances. Concede a silly goal, having 200 shots and score one. Although I see definite signs we have a quality squad in the making. Never done this before but I'm going to rank the players today.
Jones- Had a decent game, not much he could do about the goal and he looks more and more assured the more games that he plays.
Wisdom- I really like this kid, has bags of potential and has cemented his position in and around the first team for me.
Enrique- Looks a real liability to me, given a run of games I honestly think Robinson could take this place. However, if everyone was fit I'd play Johnson at LB with Kelly at RB.
Skrtel- Pretty solid, reliable performance, glad we kept hold of him in the summer as his partnership with Agger is a pretty darn good one.
Agger- Didn't stand out today, but I think this guy should be the next captain. Brilliant player.
Allen- Odd one for Allen. I was dekighted we signed him, as he is a fantastic player, assured and comfortable in possession. However today, he seemed to misplace a lot of passes. I'm just used to him never giving it away though. Looked good in the tackle today.
Sahin- Sahin clearly has quality, but he's yet to really catch my eye, other than the West Brom game. I honestly feel Henderson could do his job. But his talent is undeniable.
Gerrard- Captain Fantastic, didn't do anything really today. Worrying looked a bit slow at times, but I don't buy in with the whole, 'he's getting to old for the first team'. Would not be surprised to see him beat Callaghan's appearance record.
Suso- Looks brilliant at times, but to be honest I'd play Downing ahead of him, he disappears from games for too long, but with his potential, he'll be a star player for us in the coming years.
Sterling-He looks so dangerous all the time, fantastic player and a decent performance today.
Suarez- Our best player, our new talisman, wonderful goal.
Downing- I want Downing to succeed so much, will it happen? I don't know. But if anyone can make it happen it's King Brenny.
Shelvey- Where the heck has that player who played in the first few games of the season gone? Should have grabbed at least one goal.
Daniel YNWA

Gerrard isnt going to go near Callaghan's record, Callaghan played 640 league matches and 847 1st team matches. Gerrard has played 600 1st team matches, he isn't going to play 50 games a season for the next 5 years!

Was I watching a different game, 'Gerard did nothing today' his free kicks were fantastic one of our biggest threats, although he may not be playing great in open play you need these free kicks every time he puts one in we look like scoring

Just a thought, I know the Ed's have said there is interest in Walcott but would he actually want to join us? He is at Arsenal who are in the Champions League so surley he would want to stay at that standard and he wont move to us for money coz we no longer pay stupid wages to secure players.
Although players like Hooper dont really excite us he does seem more realistic, he is more likely to give up Champions League at Celtic to try himself in the Premier League and the wages at Celtic would be similar to ours if not lower.

Up front, I say we go.....

Gerrard Suarez Sterling/Assalidi

Until Jan at least where I really really hope we address the striker situation.

Opinions?

K.Bennett {Ed001's Note - Gerrard refused to play on the right under Rafa, why would he now accept that role?}

A decent manager would tell Gerrard exactly where he is going to be playing or give him the option of the bench. I hope BR has the nuts to do that.

cozinoz

Maybe because he is gonna lose his place in the middle?
He had all the power under rafa Thanks to his performances and status but he doesn't have his performances anymore, just his status.

Ed1 mate what do you think of january window
Rodgers thinks we can sign up to 3 quality players but what happen in last window my expectatins are little low {Ed001's Note - I can't see much happening at all, though I hope I am wrong.}

Brendan Rodgers says a lot. I am still waiting for the exciting player he promised. I am sick of hearing the man talk, he should just shut up and do the talking on the pitch. Rodgers philosophy, Rodgers style of play. It is a football game, and Liverpool are playing pass and move football. I do not understand why everyone thinks it is something else.

04 Nov 2012 22:21:39
just looked at huntelaars record and its pretty impressive

AGOVV 26 GOALS IN 35 APPEARENCES
HEERENVEEN 33 GOALS IN 46 APPEARNCES
AJAX 76 GOALS IN 92 APPEARNCES
REAL MADRID 8 GOALS IN 20 APPEARNCES
AC MILAN 7 GOALS IN 25 APPEARNCES
SCHALKE 40 GOALS IN 62 APPEARNCES

GOOD RECORDS EXCEPT FROM MILAN BUT I WOULD DEFINETLY GO FOR HIM WHAT DO YOU THINK EDS {Ed001's Note - and awful for Madrid too. Can we not just move on? He has no pace, he is not what we need.}

Wouldn't call 8 in 20 awful ed.
But I can't see him coming still with him being a bit older.

MIKEY {Ed001's Note - it is when you consider how many chances they create.}

Ed001 I know you're not a fan of his, but gotta disagree with the right support he's an absolute goal-machine! At Real and Milan he was never the central player the team worked with, at Real it was Higuian/Raul combo and at Milan for some reason they preferred Boriello and Pato (when he was fit). Pace can come from the wide players, he would bang them in all day long with the service we'd give him! He will become available in January, and if we can get him for £6m-8m, it's a no-brainer! RC

Bit like us ed chances galore but still finding it hard to score {Ed002's Note - I had a girlfriend like that once as well.}

I don't rate huntelaar but I'm also not one who is seduced by speed. Some of the best strikers to play football weren't blessed with blistering foot speed. Baggio, batistuta, hagi just to name a couple.

The way i see it is that it woulf be ok if we stayed 6 points behind 4th until january, then buy a TOP forward and we will fly.

Hounsred

That wont happen, 10 games till the window

04 Nov 2012 23:11:50
Hounsred mate any top foward will cost 25m+ and 130-140k a week do you really think we can afford? I think its more wishful thinking from some fans including you mate that in january mirracle will happen and will finish in top4 thats not going to happen. Nothing will change in january I'm really shoked that some fans still think we will finish in top4. Forget top4 for atleast 2 years and that's minimum not maximum

We dont need a striker who willcost 25-30 mil with 120k salary we need a striker who willsuit our play works his socks off and is at the right place at the right time. he could be even 5 mil striker but al long as he does those things and is confident to score I am happy
let BR look for him he does a good job in finding gems
Red 316

05 Nov 2012 03:38:58
Red 316 mate there are very few strikers who score goals consistently. If you think 5-10m striker will come and do miracles then good for you. Big example is Borini not a bad player but these is what you get when you spend 11m. Strikers are very expensive in football coz there are very few who score 25+ goals which we badly need other than that is wastage of money. We have lots of pontential strikers Borini, yesil, morgan now we need class strikers like
Higuain
Damiao
Soldado
Llorente
If not then better play borini and give chance to our young strikers rather then wasting another 10-12m

04 Nov 2012 21:33:20
ok, so i seen a comment earlier saying funding is needed by fsg so i thought id add this
since rafa took over there has been over £390m spent on players, including £28m by rogers, £120m by kenny and £22m by roy, and at the moment the team is no closer to winning the league than say stoke or villa, without suarez there is no quality and would really be in a relagation battle if he wanst there, everybody looks at us as money wasters, really, the amount that has been thrown away is unbelievable so it really wouldnt suprise me if there was no money to come for the next couple of windows. no champions league football, (which we wont get) means no more money

Try getting up on the other side of the bed tomorrow

04 Nov 2012 23:00:44
To above poster you just talk about spending but don't talk how much some managers brought money back by selling players. Just try to find out our gross and net spend then compare to others you will se the difference. Oh I forgot at the same time have strict wages compare to our rivals. Eg if we have 30m to spend in one player still can't buy the likes of cavani or benzzema or hazzard etc etc {Ed001's Note - you are also leaving out how much is lost in pay offs to players, that always seems to get forgotten.}

04 Nov 2012 21:41:58
1. Brendan Rodgers must be able to see what every other fan can see and also fellow managers. If you shut down the space in the final third LFC can't get anywhere near the box. Even when we do get in good positions no-one is ever in the box

2. We need a focal point in attack. Someone who can play right against the centre halves, someone who can bring other players into play. We have that but he is playing at West Ham. WHY? because before Andy had returned to pre-season BR had written him off. We cant have a £35m striker on the bench ANSWER well dont play him

3. Brendan look at other clubs Man Utd, Man City or Chelsea. They have kept players on the bench at times

4. Apart from the first 15 mins (still did not create anything) for the next 40 mins I became bored, our play is actually stale. Is this passing style any better than last year? I think not

5. Or is BR actually a yes man allwoing Ayre, FSG & co get rid of all the players in the summer and replace them with nothing

6. January is becoming pivotal for LFC. It will determine whether FSG really want Liverpool to be a force again in the premier league. If nothing serious happens I would ask BR to step down and show a bit of back down against the owners.

You seriously suggesting that you would of rather been a Newcastle fan today? They must of been so bored! We completely dominated them but I agree to an extent of what your saying we don't have enough players in the box but it could change when Lucas is back?

We had the ball more do you call that domination its what you do with it that counts look at our goals for and against thats why we are mid table.

04 Nov 2012 21:28:56
I know we have a game on thurs but why does he put on downing instead of assiadi think asdiadi has proved he is better than downing and its like brendon is scared of taking off sterling long process guys im up for the wate but i hope it pays off after the wate i hope it doesent get worse STEMLOCC1

In fairness, including additional time Downing was on the pitch 20 mins. he put a peach of a ball on Jonjoes head that needed to be directed either side of Krull. We were rampant for most of his time on the field so hardly a knock on him today

04 Nov 2012 22:11:11
Eds, big question I have is if we sign 1 or 2 strikers in January, big if but let's suppose it happens, where does Rodgers move Suarez to? Replace Suso on the wing? Surely you keep Sterling in the lineup. Or can he play attacking midfield for Sahin? When he and Huntelaar played together were they 4-4-2? Or was Suarez behind the strikers?

Also why doesn't Assaidi get any time in the league. Today I thought Suso was just okay at best, thought Assaidi could have done at least as well if not better.

Thanks.

Lee {Ed001's Note - Suarez played wide a lot before joining us, personally I think he would be better there alongside a central striker. For me he would drop into a free role and play where he wants, but I think Rodgers will want to keep his system in place and move him to the right or put a new signing on the right.}

He scored pretty much all his goals for Ajax and Uruguay playing on the left of a front 3 and cutting inside.

Nevada

Didnt he play on the right for Ajax?

hi,

another game we should have won but looking at squad I think few reinforcements are required. ...Allen has been criticized wrongly as he is not holding player...Lucas is badly missed nd i would say another backup player for holding midfielder is required as HeAnderson I believe is on way out nd some like classie from psv would be idea...so Allen can play further up with sahin in slightly advancing role...Gerard as most mentioned should be on right hand forward to suit better....Suarez will need another striker who can take burden off so Suarez plays on left forward...sterling nd suso should be used as sub nd back up to learn more as I think they little imature...suso should be played in middle behind striker..we are not far off but I guess Cole...downing nd Enrique may be surplus with Henderson unless he starts to perform....

Its a very thin line between success & failure.....Look at our 5 draws this season, City, Sunderland, Stoke, Bitters & Newcastle - no-one can doubt we should have won all 5 & that would have been 10 more points and 3 points off the top.

I cant help but feeling another proven striker in the ranks would have helped to convert 2-3 of these draws into victories.

Ok we haven't but I'm sure in the months to come and additional strikers added to the ranks we can prove to be more clinical & obtain the results the majority of our performances deserve.

Leyland Wool

If only Abramovich had taken over liverpool and not chelsea, if only suarez goal counted against everton, if only cabaye didn't score today, if only, if only. Point is if's and but's get you nowhere. It's goals in this game that count. Simples. If only everton hadn't had 2 chalked off against newcastle, if only their offside goal against wigan was discounted, if only they buried their chances against fulham they'd be top ! Shall I continue ?

Completely agree we are literally so close to being at the top. Two of them games we should have actually won against man c where we made a stupid mistake and the linesman against Everton that atleast another 4 points.. So annoying to think about

To the second poster, I think you are missing the point, he is not saying we should be higher up the table, we are where we are, the point is that we are not as far off as some suggest. We outplayed City, Sunderland, Stoke and Newcastle, surely you agree with that? We had a perfectly legitimate winner denied against Everton, surely you agree with that? If you are agreeing with both of those points then surely you agree that we are not too far off? And that is the point of the original poster. I am happy we all agree now.

Andy K

To the above poster Andy couldnt agree moree also you can add man u game too....valencia saved them that day...i guess we have only played badly in 2 of last 10 games against Wesbrom and arsenal....remember if it would have been any striker instead of shelvey we wouldnt be discussing all this....so just couple of signings and we should be not far from top 4 Yes 4.....cause arsenal, tottenham are the two top contenders and having seen them play we are not far off provided couple of players are brought in in jan at any cost

Yes I see the point but the FACT is we're not up there, so pointless whinging about it. We outplayed all those teams he mention, aside from Everton, where I think if Mirallas had stayed on we'd have been beaten and Suarez shouldn't have been on the pitch if we're all honest and I wouldn't have fancied our chances with 10 men if if they had Marvin Gay on the pitch

Liverpool vs Newcastle...

Jones - had very little to do. I personally thought he might have done better with Cabaye's shot seems as how it was right at him. However, it was travelling fast so perhaps I am being a little unfair.

Wisdom - thought he looked solid if unspectacular at the back. Attacking wise he doesn't offer much of a threat so i think it depends on what type of full back the manager wants. Personally I like fullbacks to be good defensively and he looks solid, hopefully will continue to get better and better.

Enrique - he might have hoofed the ball up for Suarez's goal but apart from that he was awful. Should have done more to prevent Ben Arfa getting to the byline for Newcastle's goal, gave the ball away countless times, is defensively inept and, whenever he plays, a weak link in the team - would give Robinson more games over him.

Agger - rock solid at the back, faultless for the goal, distribution was good as always, slick, world class defender who showed us his class again.

Skrtel - very good game, solid, commanding and didn't put a foot wrong. Hopefully he and Agger can keep fit and keep up this rock solid partnership.

Allen - I've criticised him a few times and I am going to do so again. Saw him misplace about 5 passes that were 10 yards or less, saw him fail to break up Newcastle attacks on a consistent basis, never saw him contribute to our attacking endeavour what so ever and once again am failing to understand what he brings to the team.

Gerrard - poor game from the captain. Was anonymous in midfield (and playing very deep - so perhaps a Rogers idea?), distribution was average and did not contribute enough to the game. He has been consistently poor this season, it is a big worry.

Sahin - started brightly but faded badly and really didn't manage to contribute to the game effectively. Thought the entire midfield was poor and uninfluential today, Sahin just a part of it.

Sterling - fast, pacey, worrying for defenders but needs to work on his finishing. Like the derby had a gilt edged chance today that he squandered. Sometimes makes the wrong decision i.e. wrong pass, wrong dribble, wrong run off the man but I think a lot of that can be chalked down to his young age, will surely get better. Really needs to work hard to get himself in the box though, too many times he was a good 20 yards behind Suarez upfront, Suarez needs support.

Suso - had a real lively first half, some good touches, good flicks, cut inside and shot a few times, good play but can't shake the feeling that, given the system we play, that it would be more prudent to play Assaidi down one of the wings and Sterling on the other. Suso would be a lot more effective in a more central role behind Suarez in my opinion. He did ok today but there is plenty of room for improvement.

Suarez - seems to be our saviour week in week out. Work rate was outstanding, should of had a first half penalty, took his goal superbly and is our only really attacking thrust. Was isolated too much today, the team needs to work hard to support him more. Keeps producing the goods week in week out, but really does deserve a better supporting cast, world class.

subs:

Shelvey - got himself into really promising positions and made a difference up front, which is great. But missed a good few chances, one of them a sitter. He needs to start putting them away, this isn't the first game he has been prolifigate in front of goal, still has a lot to learn.

Downing - to be honest I didn't notice him, he put in one decent cross and, apart from that, didn't do much else of note. He only had 15 minutes on the pitch so I didn't expect him to win us the game, I just wish he would try harder, he never seems to bust a gut for the team, does he need reminding that he plays for Liverpool?

Summary:

A sadly familiar tale of the tape, we dominate possession, have the lions share of the chances but fail to be clinical in front of goal. A lack of strength in depth up front is costing us big time, Suarez cannot just do everything himself every single game - but that is what is happening at the moment. The support for Suarez today was abysmal, when he gets into dangerous positions there should be players in and around the box ready to pounce or make themselves available, today that didn't happen anywhere near enough. Defensively we were solid today but one lapse in concentration is all it takes - Enrique is a bad player and Jones is not a very good goalkeeper and as a result we conceded a goal. We are playing well and our football is good, I really hope we can make it to January with a good enough points tally for us to still be in contention for a Champions League place, I think a couple of signings could make a huge difference to our team. The midfield was alarmingly for me today, no one (Allen, Gerrard or Sahin) emerge with a lot of credit today, too much sloppiness, lack of drive going forward and not enough defensive cover, we will look much better when Lucas returns. Overall I am disappointed we didn't win but happy we continue to play well, hopefully we can start scoring a few more well deserved goals and start turning single points into 3 points.

SMc

Spot on - good, accurate appraisal

Enrique was far from awful don't know what match you were watching!

Is it just me or is there more to Reina's injury than we are led to believe? I mean, wasn't Reina on the bench for the derby last weekend? Surely that meant he was fit enough to play if called upon. With that in mind why would he not be on the bench at the least today?

Unless he has received a further injury I cannot fathom why he would be out the squad completely. So my question is, has something, other than injury, happened and does that mean Reina could be a shock transfer come January?

Personally, I think a new GK would be a must if this was the case as Jones, as much as I admire and have time for the guy, is not quite to the standard needed for a team with aspirations to be amongst the elite in Europe.

Cheers all

BobbyF

Gulasci got a last minute injury so Reina agreed to sit on the bench.

Lads,

Can I ask a genuine question here and I'm hoping that the Ed's will give some genuine and accurate feedback here. Are we really finished as a Top 4 club and do fans everywhere have to accept this? Are we even in the running for players like Walcott, Remy or Ericksen or is this fantasy on the parts of some fans? Will these owners ever bankroll an offer of 25mill for a player ever again or will they samction the wages that such a player might get elsewhere? Have they been so burnt by the Dalglish experience that they're just determined to make it a profitable club so they get their ROI and leave it at that? Are they relying on the fair play rules to level the playing field because I have my doubts this will have the effect that some people think it will. I'd really like to hear the opinions of the Ed's as I really respect and value your feedback.

Thanks guys,

Bren. {Ed001's Note - they are more intent on producing long term success, rather than buying short term fixes. Regenerating Anfield will increase the budget long term and make us more able to spend money on players.}

What I think of today....

Yesterday Irish Rover said that today was a must win game after how the results fell in our favour yesterday, he also said no excuses. I agreed, and still do. Today was a big missed opportunity in my opinion and makes me wonder how badly things could get if we cant take advantage on the one occasion things actually do fall in our favour, because that will not happen more than 2 or 3 times a season.

Today I felt in the first half we were like hugh heffner, love being around the box but no ability to penetrate. Suarez is pretty much working alone at the minute, no support from anyone. I was not impressed with the first half, also think Jones could've done a little better with the goal.

In the second half after Suarez scored we were much much better, we did something we failed to do in the preceeding 60 minutes...get people in the box. They don't need to be there for crosses or even low passes in, they just need to be there so Suarez isn't marked by an entire defence. He's proving this year that if you give him a couple of chances he'll put them away but we can't simply rely on him dribbling past both centre backs then smashing it in, have some players in the box to split the defence a little and give him room.

Bad Day for -

Gerrard - looked completely disinterested after 50 minutes, even the goal didn't really wake him up, is he complacent? does he need a rest? Who knows but if he wants to retain his position he needs to do something because Shelvey at least moves and finds space in the box (even if he does waste gilt edged chances).

Sahin - I'm a big fan of Sahin and have been since Dortmund days but he was a little blunt today, passing was not as accurate and penetrating as he can be and anyone who watched him at Dortmund will know what I mean.

Downing - Wait...Downing was playing? You sure? I don't believe you? Honestly? When?

Sterling - People may (and probably will) disagree, but I think he can do better, he's all speed and no product at the minute. When you're one on one 12 yards out SHOOT, don't take an extra touch. Decision making was a little poor at times as well. Though he does get a lot of credit for his fantastic movement.

Good Day for -

Suarez - What can be said for a man who seems to be an actual wizard? I honestly think he should be drug tested because some of the things he does are brilliant. Always threatening and a constant nuisance, needs some help up front or he will get tired...quickly.

Jose Enrique - Another that may spilt opinions (or perhaps just have everyone call me mental) but I thought he was actually decent today. Whether thats just because he looked good by the recent standards he set or just good in general is a different question.

Allen - Gave the ball away a couple of times but was generally good in possession (and played a few forward passes for those who think he's a bit of a crab), he made a few good tackles and interceptions and kept the games pace quick.

I dunno about everyone else but I feel disappointed with todays result, not just because it was a missed chance to gain points but also because we didn't really start playing until 60 mins had gone, thats not the way you win games. I really think we should be going all out for early goals as our passing style would make it fairly easy to maintain a lead, the team however seems to think that its better to start slow and build towards a blistering last 30 minutes.

Thanks for reading and comments appreciated.

Nevada

I don't think Newcastle saw the ball for the first twenty minutes! So to say we started badly is not true.

I thought Enrique and Allen had their bright moments today but they were both sloppy at times too. Allen is usually Mr Consistency in midfield so his errors stuck out like a sore thumb, whereas Enrique has been pretty poor all season so the things he did right probably made him shine brighter than normal imo. Having said that, I wouldn't give any player except Luis and Jones more than 7/10 for their performance

Nevada mate nothing new there that's been our story since the season started. Passing footy is good but we pass more side or backwords even if we are 1 or 2 down. Ed1 mate says we don't appreciate good footy nope we do apreciate but something is wrong coz when you see arsenal or barca or bilbao they play passing footy with full of attack but if you see us we pass more in our half compare to opposition half which makes easy for opposition players to deffend

04 Nov 2012 21:13:14
Let's get serious john aldrige is right..how long can suarez continue to play around average players..my God what a footballer..we rili needed this 3points cos our next 3matches isn't something to be hopeful about..mr rodgers its not your falut rite?u bought borini for 11m..ba was 7.5 wtf..I not rili hopeful about january cos FSG don't look like they are ready to splash the cash.shelvey20,allen22,suso18,sterling,17,wisdom,19,sahin23,hendo22,this team would kick ass in the championship..let's not kid ourself rodgers needs like 50m if FSG are really serious about backing him

And if Ba's knee goes and how old is he? I rate him but these are both points in the equation on top of the amount he cost. We dont need anywhere near 50 million and yet you start that sentence with 'let's not kid ourselves'. We are 6 points off 4th, had 5 draws where we dominted 4 and had a perfectly good winner disallowed in the other. No one disagrees that we need some reinforcements and further quality upfront but the dire state that people suggest we are in is way off the mark and in one of the tighest seasons I can remember.

Eds, thanks for everything but I'm off now. Sick of all of the negative comments here. It's a shame that so many "fans" really don't get what's going on at the moment even though it's been written a thousand times.

Our club was nearly destroyed.

FSG clawed us back from administration. But that was only a tiny part of what needed doing. It's a changing world. We need income from every possible stream to compete with owners of some of the other clubs. We need to plug all of the leaks so we're not wasting money (Yes, Joe Cole, I'm talking about you!).

Look the stats from today. Possession 66% (not BBC stats - they're always wrong!), 84% pass success, 23 shots. But the most important stat....1 goal. That's the difference between where we are and where we want to be.

It amazes me that some posters are moaning about our inability to score and then point the finger at Rodgers. Did Rodgers get rid of a prolific goal scorer from last season? No. For all but about 6 games the majority of posters moaned about Carroll. Then, as soon as he's away, they moan because we need a plan B. i.e. Hump it up to Carroll. It didn't work last season!! Dempsey. Hardly BRs fault he didn't sign for Liverpool. Had he done then perhaps we'd be in a much stronger position.

Nothing is going to change until January but it's pretty clear to me that 1 player who can score (and a bit of luck!) will completely turn our season around.

Once again Eds, thanks for your hard work. Hopefully I'll be back on here in January when we've signed a goalscorer and the moaners have taken their support elsewhere.

Best to sign your name so we can welcome you back in January :)

We need to spend every available penny on a so called 'world class' striker. A 30 goals a season player. There's never many available, if we can't land one in January, wait until the summer. No point getting a promising one in Jan (we have Borini), or an ok-ish one (eg Hooper). Llorente, Falcao, Damiao etc is what we need. We have trimmed the squad to it's bare bones, surely we can afford 1 player on Stevie G sized wages or even more? I am no football economist, but surely everyone can see that we can get by with our current squad in most positions, but we need a specialist striker. It is so flipping obvious, but I hate to say that I don't think it will happen. Let's hope FSG get the message from someone - BR, or a new DoF or wherever, because without this one very important piece of the jigsaw, we will keep dropping points.

As regards today's game, deja vu. Suarez is a genius, we dominated just about everything, contained them well, they scored against the run of play with just about their only attempt on goal. Same as almost every game at Andield in 2012. We need that striker!!

Nick

Falcao?? Dream on mate.

Glad to see some of your fans are still as delusional as ever :)

Love him or loathe him (loathe him in our case, mighty toffees) that was an absolute worldy today in the words of paul merson. Absolute class, fair play. Great player, shame about the rest

Eds fellow reds , watching LFC tv after game and Jason mac was saying there is no point in going and getting an out and out striker because BR would have to change formation to 4 4 2 and that is not in BR plans . So who could be availible in January as a Suarez type player (either flank or centre ) the only two that might be possible maybe Arda turan or bojan on loan .any thoughts they also said you won't get a top striker come to warm the bench only play to rest Luis .

Sturridge? Walcott? While I am not sold by or against either, both can play wide and centrally.

Perspective....

Remember when Macca posted while the team where still on the USA tour? Too many average players in the team?

Well I think its fair to say theat the nuculues of the team is quite strong and we have 3 or 4 youngsters capable of playing in the first team (although it can weaken us a bit having 3 or 4 playing at once).

Add to that 4 first teamers being injured for most/a number of the games so far (Lucas, Borini, Kelly & Enrique).

So a thin squad further weakened..

Yes we all know about the striker we should've got etc..

Perspective..

Is the football better than under Hodgson? Is it better than the 2nd half of the last season?

I think it is.

I think we all need to have some perspective; this season is going to be tough however if we can get a striker in january followed by 3 or 4 players in the summer then things will look a lot better (also the "kids" will have another year experience).

Also hopefully Downing will generate some money when sold (Cole & Doni would be good just to get off the payroll).

I don't like losing but changing manager isn't the answer; we need to get behind him and the team and stop the knee jerk reactions; if by the end of next season we haven't improved then fair play but for now support the team; try to get into Europe for next year and push on - this season isn't over yet and things may improve (no one knows what January will bring).

Still this site is overflowing with negativity? Thought we had a great game today, played superb in most parts. Yes we should have scored 1 or 2 more goals and won the game, and yes even Stevie Wonder can see we need a clinical striker, but let's try and be a bit more positive.

We made up 1 point on Spurs and Arsenal

Stanz

Lol, they are not our competition. Right now, our competition is West Brom, Fulham, Newcastle, and Everton.

I'm sick of the blame Kenny brigade!.
Ok the back room staff squandered millions under his rein
But forget the fact that we bought young protential, the truth is our demise happened under Benitez final season and stupidly we never gave Benitez the chance to right the team. Kenny can't be to blame for everything and he WON a trophy with another final.
After 10games we was far better under Daglish this stage than Rodgers yet Brendan gets ' he needs time' yet Kenny got ' he hasn't a clue'.
The out brigade contributed to the demise of our club with their clueless views and im

How were we by the end of last season under Kenny? Our form in the league from January on last year was borderline relegation. The guy is a legend, but we were going nowhere fast under him this time around. Let's see how Rodgers is doing by the end of the year.

Lee

The thing with Kenny was he made mistakes, like Benitez, Ferguson, Wenger and Shankly. I am not angry with him for it, it is however a reality of coaching. He would be the first to admit it. I am of the "he should have been given another year camp" however he is gone now and I am fully supportive of BR. Just because someone points out what could have been done better in hindsight, does not mean they are being disrespectful. If they add insults with it, another story. Lets accept that like Benitez, Hodgson, Kenny and Rodgers, things are being addressed from previous managers and that this takes time. No one has to be made out to the bad guy or to wear the blame, we are where we are, lets move on.

Thoughts on playing Gerrard up top with Suarez when Lucas returns. I feel Stevie G can hit the net still and doesn't have the legs for box to box anymore. Also just want to say no matter what happens Ill support LFC till I die. And I am indoctrinating my newborn son as well.
YNWA
FLMatt

Again, I will say....GERRARD SHOULD BE PLAYING UP FRONT IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE! Let him and Suarez build up a relationship of interplay/linkup play and and interchanging of positions with Sterling/Assalidi, surely that will lead to more goals. That's my thoughts.

K.Bennett

04 Nov 2012 21:09:43
Think we should push Gerard to the right of the 3 with Suarez centre and sterling left save his energy a bit and get him to set suarez up in the middle of the goal rather than wide or outside the box.when benitez played him right he was gokd and he is better im the final 3 rd than the others!then play Allen and sayin holding with suso or shelves just behind Suarez until Lucas is back anyway

04 Nov 2012 21:09:11
I watched the match and I thought that sahin looked a little light weight or could be adjusting to life in the Prmiership though I think the jury is still out on him.
A few times particularly in the first half I thought we looked short of pace and did not see evidence that as tricky as Stering is no real pace.
I did not see our 3 forwards able through pace to go off the shoulder and finish.
The answer from BR his only goal option is Suarez however we can get the ball to him in essence I'm saying he's playing the cards he's got.
We need pace and a finisher.
Though all is not lost we are in development and we have youth.
All is not lost.

6 points off 4th & 6 points away from relegation. That just shows us how competitive the league is. Does any one remember when teams like England were guaranteed to beat teams like Trinidad & Tobago by a 6 goal margin. It was only a few years ago when we scraped a 1-0 win against them in the World Cup. Now we see the same thing happening in the league. There are no more easy teams in the league. I'm happy about it because as poorly as we have started we aren't too far off of 4th. Actually we are only 4 points away from Arsenal & 6 off Spurs who play City & Arsenal in the next 2 weeks. Neither of those 2 teams look like going into the break significantly ahead of us. Suarez is absolutely fantastic even if he misses the majority of his chances. He's got 7 goals from 10 games. It should be ATLEAST 8 & he comes off the bench to score in cup games. I want to get to the break with a realisti c chance of a top 4 finish the bring in a goal scorer & go for top 4 like our lives depende on it.
slodge

At last slodge speaks some common sense, yes we have had a terrible start but only 6 points off 4th, so as slodge says if we can keep on the coat tails of 4th place until xmas and buy a striker or two in January we might have a good chance of pushing for 4th place come May. Keep the faith fellow fans don't be slagging each other off get behind the team and Buck. We are liverpool we are the greatest. Red till i die. Noel C

What colour is the sky on your planet. Top 4? Dear me

Waro

The point is that there is no other team that have proved that they are favorites for 4th. Not Arsenal or Tottenham who most would have thought would claim the final spot. Their next 2 games are critical. Arsenal has 2 London derbies with Fulham & Tottenham. Tottenham's next game is Man City. Even if you look atCity's games so far they haven't been convincing. It depends on weteher or not we actually buy a "goal scorer". If we do we can really fight for 4th. slodge

So Waro,

Is it the points or performance that suggest there is no chance? Because performance wise have generally outplayed our league opposition. If its points, then we are two wins off 4th. I know we are thin and there is a lot of season to go, I know we need more firepower up front and I dont think we will make the top 4 come the end of the season however to write it off now is certainly on the pessimistic side.

well the game was not bad but it was not good either,we should have won if shelvey had not wasted that easy shot into goal.I don't think the players were firing on all cylinders, although they should really because if I was being payed tem kind of wages I would be trying to score with my hair even.
what is the eds take on todays game?
hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - I just felt the players lacked in belief, up until the moment Suarez scored, then it was like watching a different team. If we can get our tails up, then we can start picking up some wins.}

Getting their tails up can be achieved by the crowd. Before we scored, Anfield was so quiet. After the goal there was a roar for about 15 minutes that felt awesome. The players seemed to feed of that, their confidence kicked in and they actually started to play.
It's amazing what can be achieved if you actually get behind the team!!

04 Nov 2012 20:49:36
As much as I enjoy to see us passing it around and dominating the possession every game, I think that's what's stopping us from scoring because instead of countering at pace, we pass it around and let the other team get back their shape and get their whole team behind the ball stopping us from scoring.

04 Nov 2012 20:45:16
Also think Jack Robinson should be given a chance more, not a big fan of Enrique think he gives the ball away too much and is a major liability in defence. I like Wisdom just think he switches off from time to time. Robinson is super calm on the ball with tremendous composure just lacking a bit of physical presence.

What do you guys think?

barnesjnr777

Allen and Gerrard gave the ball away more than Enrique today! I don't disagree about Robinson, he's obviously our future left back but we are playing a lot of youngsters because there are no better options for their positions. That's not the case at left back, we can play Enrique until we can bring Robinson in under less pressure, we have definate priorities such as a striker, we don't have to adress every position all at once. If you want to worry I'd start at right back, by my reckoning Wisdom should have been tracking Cabaye. You're advocating playing two young full-backs at the same time when we don't have to!

Thought Enrique was poor again today, needs to find some form quickly. Would like to see Robinson given a chance at left back and Johnson at right back (when he is fit) as Wisdom has been exposed in the last few games so it might be good for him to be rested for a while. Dont want him losing confidence coz he will be amazing in the future, possible captain in the making?
Also putting Johnson right and Robinson left will give the back four a more natural balance, dont think we can play Wisdom one side and Robinson the other at the moment as we might be too inexperienced then.

Jay

No what I'M suggesting is when Johnson returns switch him back to RB and give young Jack a chance at LB

Guys we need to give Rodgers time....

I know none of us like the position we are in but we have to admit we have played some brilliant football this season. Only Arsenal out of all the teams we have faced this season have played better then us and deserved the win (I'm not counting the Swansea defeat that was a severely under strength team against there 1st team). With a bit more luck and referee decisions going are way more we would be soaring at the top end of the table.
We have given our two most talented kids a chance to prove themselves and they haven't let us down, we are playing some great football with a bit of support in Jan we could add a few top class players for relative bargains in Walcott for around 8mill and Huntelaar 6mill. This would give us a strike force to compete with any of the other top 4 teams. I see Huntelaar scoring a bomb for us he scored 48 GOALS last season and could be just what we are missing an absolute top finisher who already knows how to play with our top player Suarez.
I really like what Rodgers is doing we just need to give him a little more time guys.

Responses more then welcome

How many times did we cross the ball into the box from from corners/free kicks or wide positions only for nobody to attack the ball only for it to be cleared. If we still had Carroll even on the bench he could have attacked the crosses and posed some problems. I know BR is presiding over a footballing revolution but what is the point sending crosses over if we do not have a forward who can attack the ball in the air. Barca play their free kicks and corners short. If BR wants us to play football on the ground maybe we should be adopting the same style. {Ed001's Note - the only problem with that is that Carroll is not much of one for attacking the ball crossed in. That is why he is not scoring for West Ham, he just isn't getting on the end of any crosses.}

That is why agger and skrtel come up for corners. skrtel is the man you want on the end of a corner

One cross today, that was it.

Our corners and free kicks were diabolical, most not even clearing the first defender. A pub team usually manages to have someone who can put in a decent ball. How difficult is it to land a cross somewhere near the penalty spot? Particularly if you're being paid an absolute fortune.
Our play today was exciting and exhilarating, but ultimately let down by final balls and poor finishing. Time to stay behind at school and improve those skills.
ND

To be fair the amount of crosses that were put in last season and Carroll missed why do you think this year he would have connected?

Not on the topic of today's game but Ed001, who in your opinion was realesed too early when coming through the Acadamy and should have been kept for longer? {Ed001's Note - I can't think of any off the top of my head. There have always been other reasons for the ones with the ability to make it being let go. Those that have actually been good enough have made it through.}

I am going to answer this post about Academy graduates as I do who one who springs to mind.
Alex Kacaniklic, I always liked him when with the academy and was surprised Hodgson sent him to Fulham. He may only have a few Premier league games under his belt but he has scored already and played very well vs West Brom and got himself one or two assists. He also played for Sweden in that epic 4-4 draw last month.
Scouse_Pride {Ed001's Note - I am not convinced by him, he looks ok, no more.}

Wasn't exactly released but I thought Nigel Clough was excellent and left too early.

Nevada {Ed001's Note - when was Clough with the academy? He was also far too slow anyway, he was not the right player for us.}

Tom Ince i feel is one player who's benefitted from getting away from Liverpool.

Young players 18+ need first team football and he's done extremely well at Blackpool with many Premier League admirers.

No fault to Liverpool or the Academy, it's just crucial players get 1st team high pressure games, with fans who are lovingly critical.

Not many thought Lucas would have ever made it through his first two seasons after he was many a fan favourite to which disdain was pushed upon. Now we are all begging he comes back and stays fit because he has become so instrumental and integral to Liverpool since Maschers left to play centre back for Barcelona when Puyol isn't fit.

04 Nov 2012 19:59:19
How desperate are we for a striker who do you think are we most likely to get ed
Ta modos69 {Ed001's Note - impossible to say this far away from the window, situations are changing fast, with players coming to the end of their contracts and not agreeing new ones. A lot will depend on which of those their current club can replace, then enabling them to sell them.}

Very desperate in my view. I don't know who we can realistically attract who has goals in them.

I don't think Theo Walcott is any answer to our problems, although he's bagged 7 so far for Arsenal.

04 Nov 2012 19:51:44
Just back from a freezing cold Anfield with Liverpool six points away from relegation and six points from the top four. I think perhaps so far as the former scenario is concerned, we can be thankful that QPR, Reading, and Southampton are all relatively weak and are unlikely to achieve more than thirty points. However, so far as achieving a top four, or even a top six place is concerned, such ambitions are beginning to appear the stuff of pipe dreams. Following the Swansea debacle, this means that the prospect of European football next season is equally remote. In all likelihood we are looking at finishing the season in a mid-table to lower-half-of-the-table position and with a trophy cabinet as bare as baboon's backside. I therefore question how on earth such an eventuality could possibly be regarded as an improvement on last season. Thank God for Luis Suarez, as RedTurk and countless others have said, but he desperately needs support, because there is only so much one man can do. Suso is a good player, but flimsy and definitely not a winger, or a forward, while Sahin is peripheral. Shelvey is cumbersome, but does at least get forward, so should probably start, as too should Assaidi, at least until we know whether or not he can add goals and creativity to the team in the guise of a genuine winger. A young striker on the bench, at the very least, is essential and the manager's failure to recognise the fact begins to appear stubborn, at best. A grand total of two wins at this stage of the season is simply unacceptable, particularly with a trip to Stamford Bridge to follow. Brendan's apologists are beginning to sound increasingly delusional, I'm afraid.

Red Owl

Spot on Red Owl.

Half glass empty then? And why is it Rodgers 'apologists' as apposed to 'supporters'? We are 6 points off CL as you point out, how about thinking of it like this, it is one of the toughest years I can remember in terms of quality across most teams in the EPL and that explains how we can be 6 from the CL spot and relegation? We havent had a great start results wise but we are building ok so far. We know we need more goals outside of Suarez, no secret there and I believe that we will try to address this is January. Chill Winston.

Andy K

I don't think that's true, Johnson, Kelly and Lucas are missing, Pepe is yet to come back hungry. We are playing the young boys all over the pitch and we'll benefit greatly from doing so.

It's about getting on the right page and we can still see some uncertainty in the team and time and training sessions will cure the problem areas but the passing game is working really well overall and only by playing games will more problems be discovered.

We are missing an option or two in the final third but when the midfield click it's going to be extremely formidable.

I think you are being maybe a bit too critical, the Everton match in which we scored at the death and it was disallowed was much worse for Liverpool than going out to Swansea in the League Cup.

Guess your saying that we haven't improved from last season and infact are arguabley far worse.

Iwanted Rafa back myself *ducks flying beer cans* but i felt he always put a good team out even if he tinkered with it like a child does their toys.

We've got Rodgers and i'm fully on board, i know it's going to be really tough and with Carroll going out on loan it makes it even more so as we have only one goal scorer in the team.

But i feel the squad being up against it only makes them stronger. Shelvey, Sterling, Wisdom, Robinson and Suso among others.

04 Nov 2012 19:36:44
I personally think BR is using Suso as a David Silva or Mata type player as a winger! Maybe he is trying to adapt him into a Silva or Mata type player. Opinions welcome!
Redmanluka

He has a lovely loop when he tries passing over the defence...

But Ed would be the best judge having seen him at close quarters...

LiverBird

Suso to be a silva/mata type of player, get a grip, he will never be half as good, he has done nothing in any if the games this season

He 18, it doesn't happen overnight. Suso may not reach that class, but it took Mata and say Carzola time to reach their levels. I do however agree, Silva is on another level all together.

Papa G

He's 18 for F***s sake give him a break. He's got massive potential so just do as it says on the tin and SUPPORT our team!

04 Nov 2012 19:24:41
Piss poor finishing again. Only Suarez is world class in this team, the rest haven't got a damn idea how to attack the goal.
This team is handicapped, we have no plan B, nor players who can actually deliver the results.
If it were not for Suarez, we would be absolutely certain of relegation.
Anfield is no longer a fortress, its a damn 'Sandcastle'!!.

Suarez is good but he's not 'World Class'.
Once again we fail to beat a team above us.
Only two wins Norwich away and Reading at home, hardly setting the world alight are we. I just don't see a win coming, unless we play QPR or Southampton soon, we could be dragged into a relegation battle.
As someone said quite clearly 'we have no plan B' and plan A isn't that great. Woe is me!!

Suarez is easily world class!

MR EM

Its sad when you cant tell the difference between some fans and trolls.

Andy K

And chelsea to look forward to next weekend. will have everything crossed for that 1!! if we play as open as we have been that could be a rugby score.

What is not world class about Suarez football ability? perhaps his fantastic dribbling? his ability to beat 2 sometimes 3 players alone? the fact he carries the weight of our goalscoring on his own? his neat passing and great hold up play? Maybe his Dirk Kuyt work ethic? And the fact that he usually does all this against officials and every fan outside of liverpool?

Maybe its just me but I think those are world class attributes, hs only downfalls are his sportsmanship issues at times and his occasional wastfulness in front of goal.

Nevada

Never mind Plan A or B, does Rogers have any plan at all. We are like headless chickens most of the time! No leadership on the pitch at all!

04 Nov 2012 19:24:39
Like the goal 2 day Steve g oh by the way wasn't it a long ball hmmm

'Long ball' is just belted up field for the forwards to fight over. That was a carefuly placed pass. Long, but carefully placed.

Yes, proves we can score different ways, not just with long balls like the Merseyside B team

My team post january transfer window--
Reina....................

Wisdom...Coates...Agger...Robinson

....Erikkson.....Lucas......Sahin.....

...Suarez...Hunterlaar...De Jong
..

De jong moved to mochengladbach in summer, not going to be moving again. terrible team anyway

04 Nov 2012 19:51:35
Get real. If anything we will be weaker

Here is my team:

----------------Reina-----------------
--Kelly----Agger------Skrtel--Johnson-
---------Lucas---------Allen----------
---------------Gerrard----------------
Sterling---------------------------Suso
----------------Suarez----------------

Basically, what i'm trying to say is that if all our players are fit, there is no room to accommodate a striker. So I think that Brendan will go for a Borini type guy again, So that there is cover for Suarez. I mean, imagine Lucas freeing up the attackers, and both full- backs fit....

Piledriver

Why would we drop Skrtel, Johnson, Gerrard and Sterling. Probably our best performers this season including Suarez.

Jay

04 Nov 2012 19:16:56
I think our team has a real good core we dominate every game we play... I would just splash the 20-30mill we have in January on someone like jovetic... It will add one more quality player who can play in all three forward positions... In the summer I'd spend whatever money we have on a right back (cuz Johnson is way better at left back) an the rest ona striker... That's 60mill on 3 players top players... If u spend 60m on 5-6 players then u will get 5-6 squad players...

Or even scrap buying a right back and just spend 30mill again in the summer on another striker who can play in a rotating front 3.. makes more sence to me than blowing that kinda money on mediocre players!

Thoughts?

It's obviously not that simple... But I understand your point I'm sure most fans are thinking the same thing

Or maybe that is what the £30m spent on Allen/Borini should've been put towards.

Just a thought. Neither of the above contribute to winning games. Jmac

We didn't dominate Everton

Jack Robinson will be ready next year.

We always dominate everton win lose or draw due to their obsession with all things Liverpool

Thoughts ? Hmm... Deluded. As the person above alluded to, Everton, by and large, dominated us. But that was probably the only game where we have been 2nd best. Everton are a top side this year, no question and there's no shame admitting they outplayed us for 70 mins

Lets not forget he is only 19! Composure comes with age and experience

We are really dominating games now and this is with a fee players missing . Jones did well again but am looking forward to seeing pepe back . I think wisdom is a great player but still looking forward to Johnson coming back . And of course Lucas is out . When everyone is fit again and add a striker in jan . Things are looking ok to me .

Jamesy

We don't need a striker ''per se'' , we need a proper No.10 . Somehow Honda got overlooked over and over again. And maybe Misimovic might be a good short term solution. Take a look at Misimovic, he is still very good, and would welcome a move. He was overlook by the ''big'' teams. And is stiil hungry, bit overweight too.

Hungry and overweight. Now that's a big problem :-)

04 Nov 2012 19:07:22
For me we need two new players to support suarez upfront..sterling and suso are good but they are better as impact subs not regular starters..for how long will suarez keep saving us..my God what else does shelvey want, allen needs rest he plays 90mins all our games..why can't he just give hendo a chance its rili unfair cos I think he has more to offer than shelvey..for me brad jones should not be benched when reina comes back..as always they would pick on enrique when he had a pretty average game today...the period we need gerrard the most he has gone to sleep(only if he sees united)he plays like we are fighting for the league..the problem I have with rodgers was buying borini, when we cud have gotten better,he caused part of his problem..like I should wake up 2morow and its january..

04 Nov 2012 18:46:40
I'm sorry to say guys but the good times are behind us!
What we need is money wich we don't have we need a top quality forward and an actual good winger... We have the best midfield in the prem... We need to spend 30mill ona striker the likes of hopper huntelarr sturridge Walcott... There not good enough... It will be a waist of money signing any of them... Jovetic skillfull gets stuck in a lot like Suarez, would be my left choice, keep suarez in the middle, sterling right any youngster at the age of 17 if they feature a lot in the first team they will be top top players just wait 2 years an sterling will be worth 50-80mill...

Best midfield in the prem? LOL

Best midfield in the Prem? Better than Hazard, Oscar, Mata and Ramirez? Better than Silva, Nasri, Toure? Get a grip

Don't know about the best midfield in the prem, but more like a midfield who can't score.

04 Nov 2012 18:45:51
we were just flat, nobody is taking responibility in the middle. only suarez looks dangerous. sahin second poor game, gearard not there today, allen had a bad game, no fault for me, he usually keeps us ticking.
susso seems out of position, maybe play him in the midfield on thursday, see how he plays there. sterling is going to be a star, suarez is world class. where the hell would we be without him.
enrique is getting worse every time i see him. wisdom needs a break, had two tough games in a row. centre backs are fine, hope agger does not get injured.
assaidi and henderson will play on thursday imo and hopfully susso in the middle, hope we rest gearard for chelsea. chelsea is a game that we could spring a suprise, heres hoping anyway.

Anyone explain why Rodgers is reluctant to give Assaidi a chance in the League but is determined to stick with Downing who was ineffective again.
He has impressed me when he has been given a chance in the cups and Europe and the game today was crying out for more penetration, especially when Colocini was sent off.
Also, dont know what anyobdy else thinks but for me SUSO IS NOT A WIDE MAN! He is an amazing talent but wasted on the wing coz he lacks the pace needed to fit the system in that position.
Bring him more infield or behind the front three and we will see the best of him.
Disappointed with a draw today but yet again the performance was good but we couldn't take our chances.

Jay

The answer would be that Assaidi is best when he has space to run into...With Coloccini off, the left back job would be to alternate overlapping (with the winger) to provide width to the shape thereby stretching the defence...But Assaidi being right footed, it would not be as effective as with two left footed players...

But he could have been played right from the start...

Young players usually start out wide where a mistake is not very costly....Hence the same with Flanno, Kelly,Suso, Sterling and Wisdom....

LiverBird

Go on Jay, write it caps incase the manager is reading this, he might take some notice will he sees it.
JohnBoy

On the play them in the wide position, didn't Stevie start at right back?

Good one JohnBoy, atleast make sure the sentence makes sense before you post it "he might take some notice will he sees it"?? :/, whats that about.
Do you actually have any opinion on the game or just come on here to comment on other peoples posts?

Jay

When downing has played this year he has actually done pretty well. I would give him a start next week.

04 Nov 2012 18:43:33
I'd also like to add. The way Liverpool are at the moment is exactly the way I play champ manager. I sell and drop all my middle of the road players. Then get the best youth players I can. Problem is my squad is always thin and my substitutions are always predictable. Also times when I should be playing the likes of assaidi to build their morale which would be good for the team I don't, I take the risk because I want my youth to be better and only manage to churn out draws at home. Its infuriating but I can't help it.
But. If its anything to go by(which it obviously isn't) we will win every cup possible in 3 seasons. It guaranteed haha

Cudge

Lol we all do that. About 7 or 8 big earners and buy young players plus throw in the kids. 3 years later champions league winner!

I was actually getting worried but now i see our future.

04 Nov 2012 18:40:30
Great goal by suarez, suso had a good game as did sterling although I didn't approve when he tried to a lad who fouled him! Enrique was poor as was Allen and gerrard. Shelvey needs to wake up at times. Once again no one up front supporting. Also thought assaidi should have come on as downing is not fit for the shirt

04 Nov 2012 18:37:21
10 matches and 2 wins, lol

Against the mighty reading and norwich well done liverpool you are great ha ha ha

6 points off 4th and January looming...not bad for a thin squad with one goal scorer...lol?

AsianRed

6pts off the drop zone with trips to Chelsea, Swansea & Spurs looming.

I agree we are great. Thanks

MR EM

11 points from 10 games. thats progress that is...simply not good enough, its liverpool football club.

So great that only the might Reading and Norwich have been beaten this season in the prem.

Think your forgetting that as well as games away against Chelsea, Swansea and Spurs (who just lost to Wigan at home), we have home games against Wigan, Southampton and Villa coming up.
Could be a good few weeks

Good game today, deserved a win. Didn't get it because that's the consequence of playing without a central striker, and we all know why that has happened.
Suarez - Absolutely world-class today. Aside from an amazing goal, he constantly turned defenders all over the final third, constantly ran down balls and was always a threat. 9 goals already so far in the first third of the season (where are the doubters who say he can't score 20 in a season?).
Sahin - some great aggressive tackles, but someone has got to teach him to run back and defend on counterattacks from the opposing team. He was spectating on quite a few.
Gerrard - One of his best games of the season if not the best. Accurate long passes, ran back to defend far more than anybody else. His 600th should have been a win.
Jose Enrique - Yes he made that pass to Suarez but, Enrique has to be traded. The man has no clue on what to do with the ball in the final third and he's a liability when defending. His saving grace is his fast running with the ball but I can't recall the last time i saw him run at a defender.
Suso - talented but slow and still young. I think he and Shelvey should be reversed with who starts and who comes off the bench.
Allen - what's going on? The accuracy in his passes seems to be leaving him.

I shudder to think what would have happened to LFC's season if Coloccini's tackle on Suarez had injured Suarez.... ra1969

We are rubbish thats why we are in a poor postion we have less than average players like shelvey , allen and a few more and we are building up a young lad hoping he is better than he is , i am not a arm chair fan i have just got in from the match , oh and i think jones is poor why do i go to the game because i love lfc but i know a good player from a mid table player. red mick tag

Gerrard was woeful and at times is holding us back.

Papa G

How is Gerrard holding the team back?

Sam armchair!

I'm inclined to agree with Papa G, I dont think Gerrard currently merits his place, shelvey is much more of a threat and is quite handy with a long pass as well. We seem to be keeping Gerrard in just for his long passes, Sahin can easily do that saw it many many times at dortmund.

Question.
ben arfa had a choice of take enrque to the byline and put in a cross or cut inside a 17year old winger and have a go with his left foot(left footed player) which one did he pick.

Answer.
new LB needed contact liverpool.

also dowling showed noting again to day.

Have to face it. Any win is down to individual brilliance. Or clear set piece. Nothing to do with BR system.
These players were capable long before BR came in. Again it shows other teams know how to play Liverpool at Anfield. Same book same story.

No real threat. No fortress any more either. Saw how many left with ten minutes to go, not many expected to win even against ten men.
We come not to play indeed.
Jmac

Nothing to do with BRs system? Yes we got our goal from a long ball but Shelvey could've got a hatrick had he worked on his finishing earlier.

A bit disappointed, again. It's not coincidence or down to luck the results we've had, recently.
I think we need to get players in the box and closer to Suarez; then we'll score more goals.
Allen, Sahin and Gerrard are all too similar. None of them are likely to make runs into the box and they aren't the quickest, either. Gerrard used to be able to do it but it isn't his strength, anymore. For that reason, I don't think he should be a guarateed starter and he should be used more sparingly.
Shelvey, I don't feel, will be top drawer and doesn't seem as effective coming off the bench.
Sterling and Suso have potential but when out wide they are often faced with just Suarez as a target and this limits them.
The return of Lucas could shake up the midfield and give us more attacking options but I'd love to see Suarez play with a quality 'number 10'.
Let's just hope we get through the next couple of months without too many more disappointments (and without losing Suarez to injury or suspension) and then strenghten in the areas we desperately need to.
Rigsby.

04 Nov 2012 18:23:24
Disappointed with the result but at least we wiped that smug grin right off Pardew's face. Suarez made a show of Collocini all game

04 Nov 2012 18:18:01
i think its time gerrard steps down and becomes a bit part player. atm he seems to not try hard enough for the full 90 mins. we should throw him on last 20 mins of a game and tell him to just go all out. maybe rodgers will start to realise this next season.

One bad game doesnt make a good player rubbish....

LiverBird

I'Ve watched SG closely over the last few games, Ithink he has some sort of problem, hr's not fully fit but he tries as hard as anyone. I don't think he is very happy with his own performance BR must think a half fit SG is a better proposition to any of the players on the bench hopefully when we get more of the injured players back we can rest him for a couple of games

I thing Stevie looks tired- maybe time to retire from international duty

It's the same Gerrard thats been playing for the last 3 years, just peoples rose tinted glasses have helped them find excuses in the past.

04 Nov 2012 18:16:59
my god we need a free kick taker did any corner make it past the fist castle player 2 many young players on the pitch suso should not play over assaidi and shelvey should start over sahin even tho he needs to sort out his finishing the kid misses sitters every game

04 Nov 2012 18:15:01
I thought the referee had a good game..it was very refreshing.

GuvTOB

Yes...They are mostly good with the exception of Clattenberg, Webb and Friend...

I know two of them are well rated but they make some high profile biased decisions...I like referees who give good decisions based on what they see....A 50-50 is noproblem but giving howlers of decisions is not my cup of tea......

04 Nov 2012 18:14:44
Was Assaidi nt on d bench? BR shud hv removed Enrique and put in Assaidi esp after d red card. Downing shud hv gone to play left back. I didn't see anyother reason for playing downing ahead of Assaidi. I blame BR partly for the draw. Everything went our way today yet another draw. I just hope we can work miracle against Chelsea. I think Enrique and Downing need to go in Jan. We really need a striker! Shelvey really needs to improve his game in d final third, while Allen should learn to shoot at goal, its not just about retaining possession. Who says a midfielder cannot score? Anyways, gud performance but we could hv come out with all 3 points. Niger RED!

Djoe.

Did you ever see a player going downhill this time last year i thought Enrique had a good shout at getting into the spainish team now he plays football as good as the singer with the same name.Tommy Irish Red

04 Nov 2012 18:14:32
Bringing on downing instead of assaidi is like bringing on heskey instead of falcao.

Another 2 points dropped as it was a game we deserved to win, we just need a clinical finisher whos going to blast it in the net in the box

Enrique is not good enough id prefer to see robinson there tbh we clearly need johnson back and lucas

Allen needs to pick it up he's had 2 poor games in a row

Luis Suarez is absolutely world class, if only the rest of the team showed the same amount of drive throughout the 90 mins

Gerrard losing the ball again and seemed to had just given up after they scored which isnt a good sign when hes meant to be the captain

We needed those 3 points badly

Just going to have to learn to be more patient and lower my expectations but i do believe this team will achieve great things..

04 Nov 2012 18:14:20
if we never had suarez we would be below qpr. we are a one singer one song team the song is suarez the singer is suarez. top notch centre forward him in the hole weve cracked it.

alan waddle

God imagine if he got injured we would be in relagation zone, how have we become a one man team, were like sunderland with fletcher.

The big worry is someone is going to come in for suarez he scores world class goals. him and falcao we would win every thing.

04 Nov 2012 18:11:54
Disappointed with the draw, but took heart from the second half fightback. Trio of Suso, Sterling and Wisdom were superb! Stevie was off (again!), my MOTM Allen, he marshalled the midfield. Keep the faith, guys!

Singred

04 Nov 2012 19:16:00
Wot game were u watching?
I like allen but today he was below par.
Gerrard was sound good ball contribution
and good tracking back. People are fogetting gerrards
quality as a captain his form will return. Have faith

Skrtel and agger were our best players

04 Nov 2012 18:10:59
Alarm bells should start ringing now ..
we play excellent football but we need results at home at least .. and we need to stop relying on Suarez, he is one yellow away from a ban and you can bet your life we will loose that game.
If we dont make Europa places then the wage bill will have be adjusted again to cater for the loss of this revenue, it means an experience player or two have to leave and be replaced by younger less experience players.
Roy

The bells started ringing when the transfer window shut and we never bought a forward

Im worried too as at the moment we're playing well and still not winning, there is going to come a time when performance levels drop off then we are in trouble.

And according to BR, our captain is a quiet guy who keeps himself to himself. sound like a winning formula?

04 Nov 2012 18:10:58
So impressed with the performance today! Its obvious given time BR will make us a force again! We dominated a good team. The only thing that's missing is a goal scorer which Brendan knows he needs to address. It doesn't take a genius to work out were going to ruin teams if the right players are bought in January!

Give me a bad performance and 3 points anytime as im getting sick of us playing well and not winning.

Patience is a virtue my friend!

04 Nov 2012 18:10:19
despite all the hype the simple fact is Gerrard doesn`t warrent a starting place anymore, when Lucas is fit he should be on the bench. Allen started brightly but is now not effecting anything, Suso is just not ready, Enrique and Downing are just useless. From todays line up only Agger, Skrtel, Jones, Saurez and Sterling should be happy with their efforts.
Matt b

How is Suso ever going to get up to scratch without playing games?

He needs games and will benefit for it.

Tottenham didn't win a game with Bale in the starting line up for months and months but they stuck with him and he's come good.

You need to blood players, it's the only way to make a football player, games.

I believe spuds never won a EPL game ever when Bale started at LB. hense he is now a winger.

04 Nov 2012 18:09:55
God we need a striker.3 golden chances missed.I hope suarez stay fit till jan otherwise we may struggle for top 10.
Is it me ed or alllen looked really poor today.

He slowed everything and missed passes.

Red indian {Ed001's Note - he had a mixed game, certainly not not at his best, but he has played a lot of games this season.}

Are you having a laugh by saying he has played alot of games this season, it's only November for goodness sake! {Ed001's Note - he played in the Olympics, he didn't get a proper summer break.}

He has played a lot of games and also against physical sides like Stoke, Newcastle, Everton, ManU, Man City and so on....

So BR is finding it difficult to put Sahin alongside him thereby forcing Gerrard to play infront of defence with Allen....

With Lucas back, BR should have more options...

I have one question for Ed though...
Ed, Gerrard has one year left in his contract after this season....Will they offer him another one?

LiverBird {Ed001's Note - I expect he will get offered another, yes.}

Surely he wont get an increase or even the same wages? The club will start negotiating his contract down now wont they ed? It's a lot of money for a fading 32 year old, even if he is captain and the main reason we've won trophies in the last 10 years.

Nevada {Ed001's Note - that is going to be the major issue, will he accept a drop in wages?}

04 Nov 2012 18:07:58
We should never ever cross in a corner. 14 corners and I don't think we got a head on any of them. It was sooo frustrating. Other than that I think it was a good game.

Cudge

But how will skrtel score!?

04 Nov 2012 18:07:29
When the f--k are we going to learn that when we cross a ball or take a corner, that we need to BEAT the FIRST MAN.

Every SINGLE F-----G time, over and over again,we HIT the first man.Enrique has to go and today Gerrard didn't look interested at all,and neither did Shelvey when he came on.

Deffo still think that Rodgers is the man but we need 3-4 players in January,2 being strikers,a LB,and a quality attacking midfielder.

alan50

I wouldn't set myself up for disappointment by expecting 4-5, mate.

We need a few changes but I would doubt anymore than 2 and would expect only 1.

Andy K

04 Nov 2012 18:06:34
liverpool r just 6pts off 4th an if we buy 2 or 3 players then y not 4th come on liverpool ynwa4life

Because we need 5 or 6 quality players to get anywhere near 4th. Other than Suarez, Sterling & maybe Agger who else would make it into a top 4 side. Don't want to be negative just realistic..........I thought we played well for first 20 minutes with no cutting edge, then poor until Suarez superb goal. We need to improve and are conceding too many goals.

Yes, and 6 points off the bottom 3, quit dreaming and get a grip

04 Nov 2012 18:55:01
or 7 points off bottom

Supposedly BR has bought in some better players than we had last year! Yet after 10 games last season we were 6th on 18 points.

Keep seeing people say we are progressing....wow you guys must have a different view of what progress is to me

I guess if the ladder is the only thing you look at there probably isnt much progress however if you look at adapting to a new system, blooding youngsters, releasing some expensive players, bringing in some players for the future, 1 loss in 7 league games and 6 points off 4th in a very tight league season so far, then may you might find some progress.

Andy K

I was disappointed with yesterdays result as I felt the toon were there for the taking and i'm expecting lfc to "click" sometime soon. having said that, there are many ways of measuring success and the league is just the most obvious one. andy k is spot on in what he says. more power to ya fella.

04 Nov 2012 18:05:18
i dont get why brendan always put shelvey on. he is always put on and doesnt make any difference and also misses alot of chances including a sitter today, i think henderson should be infront of him in the que.

The problem is Hendo wont be in the right place to have the chance in the first place.
Jonjo should be a starter ahead of Suso, he is far more confident when he starts. He is no good off the bench, I agree he was dismal in the couple of games he come on as a sub.
Roy

Shelvey is an excellent player and apart from that miss he provided much needed impetus in the midfield. He should be starting according to me.

amar

I disagree but understand your point. I like Shelvey for the positions he gets in and if he keeps getting in great goal scoring positions.....you can only hope! :-)

04 Nov 2012 18:04:02
We are where u r bcoz of FSG, their inability of understand football has cost us results. If Luis wasn't there we could be religated. The man is amazing the energy he has is unbelievable.
The Owners have to take blame for leaving this team in this situation and making us look like fools with only a single striker.

The rest of the team lacks quality everyone can see that, no one else can score.

Isolate suarez n u can win hands down. FSG need to learn football and walk away if u can't fund a team.

FUND A TEAM, FUND A TEAM?? they have put in over £150m to kenny AND brendan, blame the management and the players, the board have spent a lot of money and we all know it

Teams should be self funding you plank!

We wouldn't be where we are if Kenny and Damien had not spunked all the money on crap players. Did you ever think of that !!

Money plays a big part, but it pains me to say look at Everton. The money has to be spent wisely!!

To the inaccurate author of figures above

Commoli and Kenny had a cash budget of about £55m. The ignorance of cashflow makes people look half informed. The inflows from sales funded most of the transfer spend.

Even BRs spend of £30m+ is not the right figure. He got cash in from sales and will get more cash for Carroll. And others hopefully.

The only figure that matters is the net spend. That shows what owners fund- real cash that goes out the door anddoesnt come back. Anything else is just a timing difference. Stop looking at the headline spend, they don't just spend, they have cash in too. Jmac

The OP won't read it mate. he's about 10...as are most of the fifa crew on here. dont bother replying to them

04 Nov 2012 18:03:22
Another really good performance by the lads, I am really enjoying the way we play and the commitment of the players. We just need a proven goalscorer to partner the ever brilliant Suarez and we'll be ok.
kidmillions

LOL, are you serious ?

Don't know why your lol unamed clueless poster that's probably never kicked a ball at any level in his life. Any one that knows anything about football would know that goals change games.. We just need a World class striker to partner Suarez. There's not much else wrong when your dominating games.
kidmillions

04 Nov 2012 18:02:16
Another shocker by gerrard, he keeps getting worse and worse every game. He may be a great leader but at the moment we need quality on the field. Allen had a very poor game, he unfortunantly proved the haters (people saying that he passes backwards or sideways) right today with that performance. Wisdom didn't have a great game by any means, much like that game against Everton. Sahin was almost non existent, he shows quality sometimes but how he got German player of the year is beyond me. Shelvey needs to learn how to finish an open goal. sterling needs to be more confident in front of goal. Only players worth praise, suarez, skrtel and agger.

One more point, i think we need lessons on how to take and attack corners because they got to every ball...?

I thought Allen and Gerrard were decent and disciplined.

We can't play much better and not get 3 points!

Raoul

The highlight of that game for me was Gerrards 60 yard pass to Stirling.

Mr NEGATIVE!!
You think every player on our team need to learn something how about you learn how support your team first mate.

04 Nov 2012 18:02:12
I officially dont get it. Allen is the most over rated player in the prem. He refuses to contribute to liverpools attack. In addition enrique has to go. Ask pardew does he want him back.

Henderson can do more than Allen

Sorry mate but he's playing as a holding mid while Lucas is out. That's why he doesn't get forward much!

Allen was bought to play further upfield but when Lucas got injured he filled in. Lay off the guy, he works his socks off for the team and club and rarely gives the ball away. He has still only played around 10 or so games for LFC so really early days. Keep the faith

04 Nov 2012 18:01:03
lets hope thats the start of the end of the hatred campaign

04 Nov 2012 17:59:07
Very happy with the game but we should have won again! But the one thing that is still ticking me off is that ours corners still cannot beat the first man! Charlie Adam couldn't do it last year but Suarez and Gerrard are no better! This needs to be sorted out!

04 Nov 2012 17:56:04
BR needs to get on that training pitch and practice a few corners because every ball in from a corner was diabolical.

Frog.

04 Nov 2012 17:54:44
Jonjo shelvy should have scored . Why are we missing these simple chances ?

Jamesy

Lad just needed a left peg. Unfortunate.

He was still complaining that suarez didnt pass to him just before he turned outside coloccini. when the ball came he was a fraction off because of his body language. i hope someone shows him the video and breaks it down for him

04 Nov 2012 17:54:44
6 points off 4th or 6 points off relegation.
Either way 11 points from 30 is not good enough.

Agree Draws get you nothing

Pork Chop

Sorry they actually get you a point.

Actually draws get you 1 point. Look it up if you don't believe me

If you draw every game you will be relegated 1 point is as bad as none.

I thought 35 points was the stay up mark? If so, 38 points would keep you up. Just saying.

Andy K

04 Nov 2012 17:54:15
Draws will get you the sack. At home 3 points are a must.

04 Nov 2012 17:53:29
steriling is a good prospect but he shouldnt start. sterling cannot finish. i think ossaidi should start.

So Suso should start over Sterling.. Right..

I think Assaidi should play on the left with Sterling on the right. The speed would kill defences. Suso was sloppy today but his touch was good.

ChrisMiz

04 Nov 2012 17:53:23
I hear that Enrique and Downing are going to be sold in January! WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING ON THE PITCH.
DM2012

What did Downing do wrong today?

Bottled out of tackles and headers he is a frankie howard mate

He's a winger and you want him to be graham souness? get a grip. his bravery is meant to be shown on the ball, not in the tackle

04 Nov 2012 17:52:56
We really REALLY needed a win today...

04 Nov 2012 17:49:50
Is sad that Gerrard can't influence a game anymore. He's done nothing today bar get tired.

-Shane.

Interesting that as I noticed in the derby that he didnt even break a sweat in the whole game. Seriously, watch it back, watch the team walking off at the end, watch the interviews. Money for nowt that lad at the moment.

04 Nov 2012 17:47:03
Enrique and saurez top performers for me. The wee man has done well to. Jonjo needs to go to a finishing school. {Ed001's Note - Enrique? Did you watch the match? He was awful, again.}

04 Nov 2012 18:04:11
Gonna have to disagree Ed, I thought Enrique played fairly well.

Yeah, he got beaten by Ben Arfa once. But he's not the first fullback to have that happen to him and certainly won't be the last.

- Something Red - {Ed001's Note - disagree all you want, but he wasn't even facing Ben Arfa most of the game, so that is completely irrelevant. He was beaten by him twice anyway, both far too easily while he did nothing. He was his usual self, dwells on the ball and gives the opposition a chance, can't cross, can't shoot, makes sloppy passes and hoofs it far too much. He was another terrible buy.}

Enrique has been poor for a while now he should be sold him and downing.

Enrique was the reason they scored watch the replay of their goal he was just watching.

Pork Chop

Ed 1. You talk garbage

Cudge {Ed001's Note - and that is such an intelligent response, glad you thought that one out so you didn't end up just looking a complete fool. Oh wait....}

Enrique was awful. He must have given the ball 20+ times. Dire crossing to no one, passes to the stands, etc.

Spot on ED001, Enriques passing and awareness are awful. He will never be LFC quality. I thought Allen was also awful today, hurry back Lucas, we need you more than ever.

Suarez magnificent again, the man is world class.

So much for for tika taka, the only time we really threatened was when we played long killer balls......

Says a lot really :-(

Tel 1949 {Ed001's Note - but they were only a threat at the end, when Newcastle were running on empty after chasing shadows thanks to tiki taka. We never used to threaten much early in games, it was always about late goals winning games, because every team we faced was run ragged by our short passing game.}

He was terrible..............he was excellent for the first 6 months last season I don't understand what has happened.

Enrique, OMG what game were you watching, he was absolutely rubbishe. If Johnson was fit he would not get a look in and rightly so.

ConnorsLFC

He's an overweight liability. Personally, I don't criticise players often yet I see no use.

Enrique needs to go, today he was an accident waiting to happened thank god it didn't, lately he has been playing as if he had smoked pot, but that was a good pass from him to suarez for the goal.

Ed001 did you really say above that Enrique 'did nothing'? I know he didn't have a great game but did you not notice who set up the goal? By all means criticise him but unless you acknowledge the brilliant ball for Suarez it looks like either you weren't paying attention or you have an agenda and choose to ignore the good and only look at the bad. {Ed001's Note - are you unable to read? I clearly said he did nothing while being beaten by Ben Arfa, not that he did nothing all game. It seems you are just looking for reasons to dispute what I said, when there are none. By the way, his 'brilliant ball' was far from brilliant, Suarez worked a piece of magic to make it anything other than a wasted hoof down the middle. It was not the ball that was good, it was Suarez.}

Does no one realise hes the reason we got a draw come on eds always say surport the team dont ya

mike {Ed001's Note - yes, you are right, if he hadn't been so easy for Ben Arfa to just skip past they wouldn't have scored....}

Enrique is not bad but he is awfully one footed which is where Ed1 is correct as he slows the game down due his inability to use his left foot....

One his opponent knows that, all he has to do is to take him to his right foot which he is incapable of using.......

Conclusion : Ed1 is rarely wrong

LiverBird {Ed001's Note - if he could just learn to play quick passes a bit more often, then players wouldn't close him down so tightly, forcing him to try and turn shielding the ball every single time. He just needs to mix it up, make them have to consider more than one possibility.}

I thought enrique did really well to nick the ball back several times, and he was a rock at the back except for their goal, but it was ben arfa so you cant be too harsh. The tjing that annoys me about him is that once he gets into the final third he becomes a headless chicken. His crosses are just thumps. Also you cant rely on him to find someone with a long pass. Bur he was ok today. Not as bad as you make out ed001.

Ed,

Obviously there is talk about the potential transfer targets up front. My question is, let's say we do bring in someone like Walcott or Sturridge, do you think they'll be movement away from Brendan's 4-3-3? to maybe a 4-4-2? Or will he be playing Suarez out wide on the wing from time to time? How do you see this panning out?

Thanks {Ed001's Note - I see him looking for players who can play both positions, like Borini and Suarez, so they can interchange throughout a match.}

04 Nov 2012 17:46:35
Not sure if anyone followed the American tragedy last year. But Pardew looks like a young Sandusky. Creeps me out.

Niko

Oh Niko , shame on you .

Jargon .

While we're on the subject....doesn't Joe Allen look like James Blunt?

04 Nov 2012 17:38:23
It's the same old story, we're absolutely dominating a team (and a good team at that), but we're not winning because we don't have a focal point and finisher other than Suarez. When we get that, we'll be laughing.

That said, performances like this are really encouraging and make me think that Rodgers IS the real deal.

ChrisMiz

As long as we get a good goal scorer that is.

ChrisMiz

04 Nov 2012 17:35:53
Can Gerrard not see defenders when he takes a shot?

So sick of him just wasting possession with pointless shots.

ChrisMiz

Or a corner and free kick

04 Nov 2012 17:35:32
Don't think Enrique knows who he's playing for.

Jumping on the enrique bandwagon for no reason. Sorry but wisdom played a lot worse today {Ed001's Note - not true, Enrique was abysmal, constantly getting caught out, lumping long balls, one of which he was lucky to have a piece of Suarez genius turn into something useful. He just can't defend, or position himself correctly, or learn when to keep it simple and play a quick pass. Wisdom was far from as bad, though he didn't have his best game, he wasn't too bad.}

Got to agree with ed on this one. its not jumping on the bandwagon enrique was just poor its as simple as that.

Ed 1 talking garbage again haha

Cudge {Ed001's Note - you need to grow up or go elsewhere, if you haven't the intelligence to make a point, don't waste people's time with this kind of stupidity. Clearly you are just another imbecile with a big mouth but no actual ideas of your own. Don't waste my time again.}

04 Nov 2012 17:32:22

I'm not ashamed of supporting Liverpool, I just don't want to watch them play anymore hah

We became entitled to complain when they started treating us like customers rather then fans and if things haven't improved by the end of the month, people start will start asking questions

04 Nov 2012 17:31:18
Maybe one day shelevy will learn how to score open goals.

Over rated, over hyped, the new Steven Gerrard apparently.

04 Nov 2012 17:29:19
All that tippy tappy and we score from a long ball. Are you taking note Bren?

No we scored because Suarez's touch was excellent. The long ball wasn't even half the battle.

ChrisMiz

It was still a long hoof ball {Ed001's Note - and the space was there because the Newcastle players were tired from chasing the tippy tappy stuff. I am amazed anyone with eyes could not see that was happening throughout the second half. It seems most people just don't want to see good football succeed as it won't suit their agenda.}

No Suarez touch was magical but the chance was made by a long ball. I agree with the original post we pass for the sake of it allowing ten men to get back and defend and then we do t get any support in the box. No wonder we don't score!

TJ

04 Nov 2012 17:17:40
This is mainly for the benefit of Irish Rover who, quite frankly, is boring the pants off me with his moaning. I'll explain what the difference between RHs, KKs and BR reign have been and why I think we should back BR where I haven't ultimately backed the others.

RH - yes, he didn't spend much money, but our football was dire. We didn't create chances, and were being beaten by teams with a worse squad than we had and regularly.

KK - was given £116m to spend and bought in Bellamy, Suarez, Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Adam, Enrique and Henderson. In his starting 11, he had 6/7 of his own signings playing at any given time, along with Gerrard (good player) Lucas (good player) Agger and Skrtel (good defensive pairing) and Reina (solid keeper). He was able to put his stamp on the team and could call it his own. He was allowed to build and given the funds to do so. It didn't work and neither did all but 1/2 of his signings.

BR - he has been in the job for 9 (soon to be 10) league games. Signed 2 players, and released a load. You cannot call this BR's team. We are creating chances and I have seen enough to suggest that, with a couple of players in, we will be in good shape. I can see what he is trying to do and am fully in favour of his methods.

Ash

04 Nov 2012 18:02:48
You can hardly call one full season in charge plus a few months of cleaning up Roy's mess being given a chance to build. That's what irks me about the whole thing. People beat him around the head with a number and then a breath later say Brendan needs a chance. Suppose Brendan had spent £60m and we were delivering the same results? Would it be okay to want him out? Of course not. Managers need a time to build and to see their ideas develop and come to fruition. Kenny didn't get that, irrespective of what he spent.

That said, he is gone now, and we're best sticking with Brendan again rather than just turning around and making the same mistake.

- Something Red -

04 Nov 2012 18:05:43
Ash football is all about results not sexy play look at Mourinho he is always critisiced by playing boring footy but he is one of the siccessfull manager in modern footy. Owners are not interested which style we play they want CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL. Did you see Werner comments he made it clear they are not happy at all. I think we need Director of football to help Rodgers coz his lack of experience is killing us.

Now i wasnt a Hodgson fan, but to say we were getting beat regularly and we were a point better of than now is laughable. Not even using the same excuse as Ash uses against Kenny (the £32 million difference in spending). Konchesky, Cole, Poulsen, Babel. Come on Ash surely our squad is better now. Yes, i agree our footie is pretty but its a results business.Ask the owners.

Lastly, moaning? I will refer you to the start of the year. (pot, kettle, black?)

But in the interests of harmony i will refrain a bit on the reality of what is happening in the hope that Rodgers results will improve from now to Christmas. I think Kenny had 32 points by then and obviously still in the League Cup.

The Irish Rover

Here goes that bighead Ash AGAIN !
Listen fella YOU are not always right and your famous for boring the pants of people on here.
You and your anti kenny crap yet again its so boring change the record eh lad.

04 Nov 2012 19:25:33
Ash playing good footy is luxuary results are nessecity.
Did you see wener comments he doesn't care what style we play they want Champions league footy. Coz we can't progress without champions league revenue and will need to slash more wages and sell our best players in order to survive. You need to wake up mate no manager will get time coz in modern footy a lot of money is involve. Finishing 7-8 doesn't bring enough money to run club like liverpool even our sponsors won't be happy will even be harder to attract new sponsors. Liverpool is a massive club to run club like these comes with big responsibility and money and champions league is must to move liverpool foward. We don't have owners like abramovich to cover our losess with their own money.

04 Nov 2012 22:18:25
Ash mate Rodgers knew everything before taking liverpool job. If you think owners are going to give him time then mate your wrong or its just wishing. Rodgers needs to grind results coz the real bussiness in footy is results. No manager can get away after being that bad especially the way we are placed in league. A lot of fans including you think some one will come in january and do miracle for us to climb up the table again is just a wishful thinking.

04 Nov 2012 17:16:03
Enrique off now please.
Why the hell is Anfield always so bloody quiet these days? You can hear a pin drop a lot of the time.

04 Nov 2012 17:15:42
Get Enrique off that pitch quick!

-Shane.

04 Nov 2012 17:14:35
Newcastle totally guilty of wasting time today, the ref adds 2 minutes in the first half when Perch stays down for 3 minutes and Krul wastes time on every goal kick. I know i am stating the obvious but boy do we need another 2 Strikers. Second half and much more of the same, come on you reds. Rant over lol

04 Nov 2012 17:09:34
I have to say that at the moment I am embarrassed to say that I support LFC.
Didn't feel like that under KK the 1st time.
Did under Souness.
Didn't under Evans.
Didn't under Houllier until the season he bought Diouf etc.
Didn't under Rafa at all.
Did under Roy.
Didn't at the start of KK's 2nd reign, but did towards the end.
Do now, but that doesn't mean I don't like BR. I think he needs to be given time, but he is now having to deal with the rubbish that has gone before him.

Im certainly embarrassed by you!

It's laughable to think I became a supporter of LFC because of the fans... I can't hear a peep at Anfield, it's no wonder our players don't have the confidence to play there. Any team can beat any team with the right support, you can't just expect them to perform and don't say it's a two way street because this has been going on for who knows how long, even when we've been achieving things. Stop being expecting, fairweather supporters or feeling sorry for yourselves and support the team and name of LFC

04 Nov 2012 17:04:21
The reason is blatantly clear we all talk about strikers but theres more problems than that. On average liverpool have 1 player in the box when ball id outside box. This system doesent seem to allow the players to commit. We need to let 1 centre mid to go by striker and 1 winger to turn into advanced forward when ball at by line the problemd are deeper than that. We need a front three involving a cf as well as suarez and then a winger then say suso in advanced playmaker centre mid. Its not roket science come on someone wake up. Yes we have no cf but in mean time learn to commit players!

04 Nov 2012 17:04:08
the knives are getting sharpened now . for gods sake play 4-4-2. 2 wingers a partner for suarez and two midfielders tiki taka is no good for the prem will never work.

04 Nov 2012 17:03:20
Started off just like the first half of the West Brom game. Domination without goals followed by a fantastic sniper goal for the opposition.

04 Nov 2012 17:02:46
Steve g and Allen are plying poorly today. Especially Allen. No penetration from anywhere, no one to help Suarez, suso does not look ready for this level. Sahib notnpositive enough. Blame whoever or whatever u want.

I can't believe Rogers got called for that foul throw. I can't believe he allowed Krul stop his shot with his legs and he also whizzed that free kick just over. Take him off now. 60% possession and got caught by a wonder goal again. Playing well but fell off the attacking high after 25 mins. Still the best team. big 45 mins coming up.

Chi-Paul

Groundhog day, toothless pretty play doesn't win games...........

04 Nov 2012 16:59:25
Ed fellow reds , same old story , think BR needs to rethink his game plan it all very well having the ball for 80%of game but you have got to do something with it . Starting to dislike him now . ,

04 Nov 2012 16:58:55
Half time and a similar story unfolding, more of the ball and yet not too many clear cut chances and one nil down. Then Suarez talking to the ref before he walks down the tunnel, good way to get another booking in the second half. Wish he would shut up, getting sick of it.

Hoping we can turn it around in the second half but struggling to see where the goals are going to come from. Another striker is paramount in January and there should be no messing around this time. We cannot afford to wait until the last week.

Despondent but patient.

04 Nov 2012 16:51:23
We seem complacent in keeping possession and not scoring.

04 Nov 2012 16:51:12
same old story we dominate opposition goes on one attack and scores lol

Dominate what? Having all the ball and doing nothing with it isn't dominating. I feel as a neutral the passing game will work in the future but u also need to be more aggressive on counter attacks like when Torres was playing for Liverpool.

04 Nov 2012 16:51:10
Joe Allen is having a very bad game. Nearly every pass is given away. Gerard doin nothing. Suarez is being very selfish. BR has a lot to do to make us a TEAM. Too many people out to make a headline for themselves. Suso doin well

irish rover whats your point, coming out with all negative comments regarding br, then stating you wont call for his head.
do you really think hodgson was the future? i liked the man but he never was going to be a long term solution to anything. daglish was my idol in the 80's. but he spent 70million on downing, carroll and henderson. his conduct was suspect. he is still a ledgend.
we have good owners, very good owners who have admitted they have made mistakes.they will bring us back to where we belong, they need a little time and full support from the fans.
i am not going to say br is deffo the man to bring us back the glory days, but from what i have seen so far i like it.
we are moving in right direction, maybe a little too slow for some fans, to them i suggest go and support man city.
i support the players, manager, owners and all the conected with lfc.

B O H

If having an opinion and questioning the manager means you can't be a fan then my 43 years on this planet as a "fan" of Liverpool Football Club have been a waste of time ! As a scouser born and bred mate, I'm proud of the tradition of this city and it's people who will question things in any walk of life, in order to get their very valid point of view across. That extends to and includes our football team, its players, manager and owners - especially as I pay handsomely every week to go to the game and have for over 30 years ! My point of view is as valid as the next man and any one of us is entitled to question or critisise the manager, players or owners when it is us that are effectivley paying their wages each week!

I'm not having a go at BR but I keep reading on here that "he is giving the kids a chance" obviously he is but surely you can all see its not through choice? He has had no other option, if he'd got the 2 signings he wanted in the transfer window Suso and Sterling probably wouldn't have had a look in

Chris in Tamworth

Why is it the easier choice he could be safe and just play cole, downing and carragher in those position... Easier decision in my eyes but it would have been the wrong one. Give him some credit.

04 Nov 2012 15:24:46
Just a message to all the BR haters, lay off the guy.....

We haven't won back to back home games since sept 2011, that just goes to show what a massive job BR has on his hands.

Like BR has always said "it's not an overnight fix, it's a project which could take 3 years to fix, and yes they will be pain along the way.

We can't keep sacking managers just because we can't do what we used to do and roll over every club that visits Anfield, them days are gone for the time being.

Give BR a chance let him continue what he's started and time to build a squad, lay off the negativity.

Curled1

We dont need fixing we need a striker

04 Nov 2012 15:15:18
Anyone tell me what is happening with John Flannagan? Is he injured or not rated by Rodgers coz he hasnt really been involved at all this season and Wisdom has jumped ahead of him for the right back position.

Has he not been training for the past two weeks? Because i thought he was?

Let's hope they've learned their lesson and don't throw away a 2-goal lead again.

Feeling a little nervy about Jones today...

I believe were due a wonder goal ala Suarez v Norwich or Mereiles vs Wolves, think todays the day!

Dont say that. Ben arfa is probably the most likely to do that.

04 Nov 2012 14:55:52
Ok, first of all i apologies for bringing this up. You do realize that if Liverpool actually win today that they will only be a point better off than they were under Hodgson? Now some will make excuses to say Rodgers has only has 1 transfer window (£26 million). So did Hodgson with a minus figure of approx £6 million and we all know what happened to him in January. You cant make excuses for one manager and not another that would be hipocrisy (right Ash?). Dont shoot the messenger! I am only pointing out the facts, yet i still wont call for Rodgers head, unlike some.

The Irish Rover

Do you also realise if we win today we are only 4 points off a champions league spot, top of u21 league by 3 points with a game in hand and with a manager who is not afraid to give youth a chance. Sick of all the doom and gloom on this site. A short term fix is not the answer. We have had years of bad transfers and mis management. We are building for the future in the right way, give the man a proper go at it, Simonpw

And if we don't win?

If we lose today we'll be at best only 5 points above relegation having played an extra game.

04 Nov 2012 15:24:32
like i said doom and gloom, simonpw

Yeah but you have to admit we do play better football than under RH .
Come on get 3 points today .

Jamesy

Yes but we're playing good football now, and Roy signed Konchesky, Poulsen etc. who were never ever going to be good enough to play for us, we were going nowhere. Now we can all see it's going in the right direction and Rodgers is a good young manager. YNWA

Your miserable rhetoric is getting boring now Rover. Just stating facts were you? Just putting it out their eh? Won't be calling for his head but try to enable and encourage others to. Yawn.

Lets hope BR starts going after results b4 style as fans ain't gonna put up with things how they are much longer.

04 Nov 2012 14:42:07
No excuses but just things to consider;
1) tough opening 4 games we played 3 Champions League teams & we outplayed the mancs & city.
2) new manager & system
3) Sterling, Suso, Borini & Sahin were playing in the BPL for the first time in their lives
4) Our best tackler & one of our more complete players Lucas not being available meaning Allen isn't playing in his mot effective position
5)Gerrard & Suarez have never played a full season together due to injury, suspension etc.
6) Our BEST player (Reina) suffering from a temporary loss of form
7) Unfortunate officiating
I think wecan get into the top 6 by January. If we can then add a goalscorer there is no reason that we cant make a realistic challenge for the top 4
slodge

And your point is what, no excuses in the premier league, nobody cares about sexy football, its results that count

There comes a time when you just have to man up and accept whatever situation your in and carry on going forward. You can't keep making excuses all the time waiting for everything to be just right. If you do that then there'll always be a reason why you could have done better.

I am a Liverpool fan, as are around 10 of the Ed's I would say, however, there are obviously all the other Ed's on the other sites. On htis site I think it only Ed002 who's not a Liverpool fan}

Starting to see a bit of criticism about Rodgers, LFC and his style of play in recent days, on here and accros the press and net.

How come he was getting so much praise at Swansea by everyone in the press etc but now he's at Liverpool he's getting criticised for it?

Discuss below.

MIKEY

Expectations were lower at Swansea and their style of play was unique for a newly promoted team.
Different ball park being manager of Liverpool.

Jay

Swansea was a newly promoted team playing football like they've been in the EPL forever. Liverpool is a huge step up, when things don't click quick enough then fans and pundits alike start getting agitated. Expectation at liverpool is top 4, at Swansea it was staying in the league. But I know where your coming from, liverpool seems to be vilified by everyone else. No one ever likes the best of the best remember that.

But your not the best of the best?

OsgoodIsKing

More money, a better squad, higher expectations.

We need to realise that times have changed and we are not a top 4 team at present. The owners came and rescued us from administration due to over spending on both players and wages. Things could have been a whole lot worse. We still haven't finished outside the top of the BPL ever, we won a trophy and are competing in a European competition. I beilieve that the top six is not out of the question but we do need to add quality and depth to our very thin squad.

I hope we dont buy Ba in January.
Carroll was knocking them in for fun there. As soon as he leaves he loses his form and confidence.
They replace him with Ba and he starts knocking them in for fun.
They buy cisse and move Ba out of position and Ba forgets how to score and cisse starts scoring hat fulls.

Seems Newcastle are set up to allow the striker to score loads whoever he is.
As soon as the striker is sold or starts playing in another position his real talent (or lack of) starts to show.

A lot of people are praising the newcastle scouting teams for finding these strikers but they have done nothing for any other team.
I reckon you could play any old rubbish up front for them and they would score for fun.

Maybe I'm just being stupid but Liverpool should know not to buy strikers from Newcastle by now.

MIKEY

Ba, has talent, he scored a bundle for West Ham.

04 Nov 2012 14:33:48
What a bitter and sad way to complement/defecate on Newcastles scouting system. Im sure you will find that Ba and Cisse were scoring goal way before coming to England. And strikers like him are usrless on the wing, like Cavani for Uruguay.

I wouldn't do business with Newcastle full stop. Especially when Pardrew is in charge.

I think people should ease up on the negativity and give Brendan a break. When we win this afternoon, we'll be 4 points of fourth. For a team that's had to play virtually the entire campaign without a striker, I'd say that's a pretty good return. (Just how would Utd do without RVP, Rooney, Javier and Walback? Not too well, eh.)

If we can bring in a striker winter (Hunterlaar maybe) and get Fabio firing, we'll be good.
FSG have to pull their finger out Jan and back Brendan.

Unless your Spain, it's nigh impossible playing and winning without a striker/s.
We've seen recently Sterling and Suarez taking turns leading the line there and then.
So just Brendan and the team a break.
From the constraints they've had to work within, they've acquitted themselves rather well.

......Gidmontie

Well if you're happy with cup knockout and 10 points from 9 games then good for you.

Suarez is a striker and a pretty good one at that!

Was the Capital One Cup really gona make our season?
Did no favours for Kenny last year.

Jay

04 Nov 2012 15:18:30
Jay mate LIVERPOOL FC IS MADE OF TROPHYS. Yeh it didn't fever Kenny but it did for our cabinet and reaching 60 trophys. If Shanks would be alive he would really be upset to hear your comments coz these trophys made what Shankly is remembered. Most big trophys were won by Paisely including 3 european trophys.

I get it is a chance to win a trophy but if I had the choice between winning the Capital One Cup this season and finishing 8th again or going out like we did last week and finishing top 6 then I would take top 6 all day long.
We need to improve our league position steadily over the next few seasons because that is where the finance is unfortunatley.
We dont have the squad to compete for the FA Cup, Europa League, Capital One cup and maintain a top four challenge.
Sad but true, the times have changed.

Jay

RODGERS is doing a fine job. What he needs is backing from us the fans and the owners. He also needs time to jel the players within the squad. we must give him full support but most important is to give him time and backing rather than been negative. If the owners support him financially the next couple of windows so he can add to the squad the LFC will be on top

Alex

He's getting the backing at the games lad and that's all that matters.

ed can you explain the wage cap trying to be introduced by club owners {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are referring to, but it is not something that can easily be done retrospectively.}

Just imagine where we will b without d incessant 'errors' by match officials particularly referees. I hv put d errors in inverted commas bcos I sometimes feel they are intentional particularly those committed against Liverpool(not bcos I'm a RED). I personally think d epl officials are over protected which hv made them complacent. They need to be sanction sometimes. A lot has to b done to address these problems 'cos d so called 'human mistakes' are ruining d game. I believe d introduction of technological aids for officials (not just goal-line tech) will not go amiss, neither will it undermine their Jobs. Just imagine that I can no longer watch Liverpool matches with a free mind bcos am always scared of one 'human mistake' or d other. D 'errors' hv become a routine, just d way Reina commits a blunder. I really do not mean to be rude to anybody bt I think I have a right to watch Liverpool's matches with a free mind. Niger RED!

Djoe.

The game has been run by officials for over a century. Before SkyTV these officials were respected. SkyTV has ruined our clubs identities with money-the root of all evil. Now SkyTV is starting on our officials by undermining them constantly.
Sadly the generation of fans who only know football since 1992 are completely in love with SkyTV and believe everything SkyTV shows them. Don't be fooled, football should be above SkyTV.

Hi eds and all, I know we are all waiting for neymar to come to pool, but what about hernandez from swansea he will not cost the earth and as a striker for the bench I think he is good.eds what do you think?
hisbylfc {Ed052's Note - No chance, he is not good enough and only moved in the summer. And has not been playing well}

This reminded me of moses rumours last year. Try watching the rest of the game yesterday. Or even any other performance from this season instead of taking up space on here because the guy scores a decent goal or in moses case makes a decent run. I reckon he will become a good player for SWANSEA but he's not Liverpool standards. I mean think about it. Who would u drop for him? I'm sure you'll come to the same conclusion as me.

Cudge

Moses has done really well for chelsea so I dont see your point.

Neymar and Liverpool in the same sentence.......

Lets compare some facts. KK and Hodgson both had efficient squads to work with. (Hodgson having Torres, Gerrard, Mascherano [who he failed to persuade to stay], Lucas, Agger, Skrtel, Aquilani, Johnson ETC ETC). KK spent ALOT of money on the wrong players, so that's fault on his part along with comolli. However, BR came to Liverpool when morale was EXTREMELY LOW. He had one perilous job on his hands. He was on a thin budget and bought in some decent players. Yes, Borini is questionable, but the guys in his early 20's and Allen too, although he's looking impressive. BR did with the youth what no other Liverpool manager has done in the last decade, and that is get something out of them in an insanely short amount of time. You have the likes of Sterling and Suso making the likes of Joe Cole and Downing look like a championship players, who would have thought that a couple of years ago eh? Just give BR a chance, right now CL is looking far away, and realistically it is, but if we dont get behind the manager, then the process will be delayed. We aren't as big as we were, and we need to admit that first before we can move any further.
WelshBoyDave

Morale was only low because the owners sacked Kenny and they did it before they identified the next manager. They dragged the clubs name further through the mud by having some weird manager X factor competition in Boston with Dave Whelan as the presenter.
Before that shambles morale was not low at all. We'd narrowly lost the Cup final, Carroll was hitting form, had just been selected for the Euros and we were league cup winners and qualified for Europa.

The guy who replied..is kks borther..sure..
morale was doen becoz we sacked kk..
who bough a rubbish caroll for mill?
and said no one is bigger than club wen he couldnt convince torres to stay..and shipped meirels..
excellent..
if i am blind..and given 5 mil..to buy a player..i would still not buy caroll, downing or henderson..with that..
becoz those doent cost that much...
we lost 80 mill brother...can u count it 80 mill?
money is not printed in US...

Well lads can not wait for the game today at Anfield..Hope it will be buzzing and us fans need to belt out Steve Gerarrd Gerarrd! and all the Pool songs..we need to lift the team today cos they need it and show Rodgers what Anfiled is all about..so come on lads who ever is going to the game today..roar out at the top of our voices.

On another note i hope the owners give funds in Jan..yes we know they want a model that balances the books but we need to give Rodgers support financially with proper funds after the deadline hock up and buy experienced goalscorers to help Suarez thats all were missing and a bit of pace in the team.

Anyway sorry for the rant adn would like to see the owners there today..3 points we need today come on

How disappointed you must be...

We need to show Newcastle we are still a force to be reckoned with, id be delighted with a scrappy home win and a clean sheet to push us to tenth i was to be honest, but i really want to see:
The team to work together and dominate.
No costly defensive blunders.
People talking about suarez for right reasons. (As newcastle have been doing)
And most of all 3/4 of anfield singing, shouting and clapping so hard that there hands will be red and throats sore but nobody will care because LFC is our club, our life. I want to feel my skin tingle as 40,000 of the greatest fans in the world sing "You'll never walk alone."
We need the atmosphere back in our once feared stadium, i want to see the confidence of our fans pulsate around the stadium and into the team. As four oclock beckons and the shrill whistles blows can we please have the noise so loud that we, as a legend once put it, "suck the ball into the back of the net"

04 Nov 2012 11:59:54
Can everyone just get off Kenny's back. He has done more for this club than anyone associated with LFC today. His first spell as manager has still not been surpassed by any other LFC manager after him and don't start with he did not win in Europe as those with brains will clearly remember that we were banned from European competitions in his first spell. As a player he was one of the best this club has ever seen.

Shankly started it, Paisley made us the best team in the world, Fagan built on that and Kenny followed through.

Without these four men, our club would have achieved nothing.

Instead of ridiculing Dalglish, be thankful for what he did for us. Have some bloody respect.

Red4Life

Kenny destoryed liverpool in he's second spell pure and simple. He destroyed our name supporting Suarez bought a pile of crap that could not grace league one for huge money.

Written like a true LFC supporter.

Not a case of ridiculing him at all.
We can all appreciate what he did 1st time round, but at the same time have to recognise that his 2nd spell could have gone so much better.
So much money wasted and that has set us back even further than where we were.

I'm sick of these people that come on here and demand respect etc for legends of the club.
That's all well and good.
They can be classed as legends, but the time always comes to move on.
Gerrard and Carragher have been immense and are legends.......However, this is probably Carraghers last season and he probably shouldn't have that much 1st-team time as he is not as good as he once was. The same goes for Gerrard. He needs to play less (whether only one game a week or coming on as a sub).
As for KK, his 2nd time as manager could have been so much better. Yes he is a legend, but keeping him one was not an option.

I totally agree with the original poster. Some of the abuse and disrespect that the great man has received on this site, particularly from the armchair fans, has been an absolute disgrace.

Red Owl

Too many kids on this site who think football started in 1992.
The reason this club is great is because of legends like Shankly, Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish and great players like Hughes, Heighway, Souness, Clem, Yeates, Hunt, Keegan, Rush, Fowler, Barnes, Hansen, Gerrard and Carragher.

But above all else we used to have great fans. Now we have people who are "sick" of giving legends the respect they have earned.

1)Is Rodgers being forced to play youth or is it a choice?

Some want it both ways. Praise him for giving youth a chance but then whine because he hasn't been backed and has a thin squad. You can't have it both ways.

2) how much control do managers have over spending? Rodgers is given sympathy because naughty FSG wouldn't give him money to buy a striker. But then Kenny is criticised because he spent (pick an inflated number) millions of pounds.

For me Rodgers chose to get rid of a lot of experienced players in the summer so he chose to go with youth. Fine with that, but don't whine about a thin squad.
Secondly, managers don't negotiate transfers anymore so stop moaning about how much Dalglish spent compared to how little Rodgers is given.

No - but the manager DOES identify the target

Puzzled

Did Rodgers want rid of Kuyt, Bellamy or Maxi. The answer is no, so your arguement has failed.

Papa G

Kuyt wanted more regular game time.
Bellamy wanted to go back home.
Maxi wanted to go back home.
It suited us as they are off the wage bill and suited each player as they got what they wanted.

Papa G

If Rodgers did not want rid of Kuyt, Bellars and Maxi are you suggesting that he was forced to get rid by someone? The owners maybe? That would suggest that he was the man for the job because he is a yes man. If it was true of course.

Hey lads just a thought or two for today but i feel its relevant right now.

We have a new manager, one with a vision, its an old cliche but Rome wasnt built in a day even in this day and age of no patience and instant success, Old Fergie didnt build what utd have on overnight success it took a while to implement a system, and no comments on money theyve spent please, ALL the top clubs have spent well with limited success in the last 20 years,
Brendan hasnt had it easy, granted one or two would rather have seen Carroll stay but we all also know his hands were tied behind his back regarding the wage bill and expecting a replacement striker,
Last year everyone on here were divided between suso and sterling being ready for first team action and being too young, well with them through a few slip ups and a weak bench weve blooded these youngsters and more and the future looks bright with them involved in it,
I suppose what im trying to say is cut the man some slack, we KNOW we have a slim squad and we know its going to take time, but we are Liverpool F.C and were supposed to be sticking together through the wind and the rain, regardless of slip ups and regardless of a sticky patch or two
This afternoon we play a decent Newcastle team who Pardew has got playing a system that works for them, it wont be a walk over....Whatever the result lets stick together, support the club we love with no negativity and divine right to win everything and lets look forward as one, this club has been through the mill enough its high time we all stood together and showed the other clubs why we were largely regarded as the best fans in Europe,
crank up the atmosphere boys and lets get behind everyone including Mr Rodgers, he needs us as much as we need a winning team.

cant wait for game today. all are important but today a win states we are in contension for top 4.
now i have said many times i dont expect us to end up in top 4, bedding in young players more important, a foundation as it were for the future. but staying in contension, putting a few wins together, who knows. look at results yesterday arsenal, spurs loosing, everton drawing.
last season arsenal had dismal start, then put a run together, not saying we will do this but by beating newcastle today we give ourselves a fighting chance.
4 points from everton and newcastle would be going in right direction. next 4 games after newcastle
chelsea (a)
wigan (h)
swansea (a)
spurs (a)
doesnt get any easier. 3 points today and we will move on.

B O H

Ihave a good feeling about today plus newcastle arent that good away from home am going easy 3 0 win. {Ed052's Note - We will win 4-1 and get top 4, is we draw we wont get top 4, there we go, my necks on the line}

Liverpool never win when results go are way i reckon 2-2 or 2-1 to them sadly it is like a rule of thumb for pool when tems get beat around us we lose :(

04 Nov 2012 14:20:41
That was the story of last season, Chelsea were appalling in the league and we had so many chances to catch up and failed to...this time however we have hungry youngsters desperate to impress an an in form
Suarez. Fingers crossed for a great game and a Liverpool win

04 Nov 2012 10:36:23
Alright my fellow fans im up and raring to go today think with the results yesterday BR needs to get the lads pumped up and raring to go. We need the win but please please for god sake If bye the off chance we lose or draw dont come on here boring the Eds and real fans with BS like BR out, FSG out, Liverpool are rubbish, liverpool are so far behind bla , bla, bla. Im sick reading the constant moaning and greeting. Get behind the boys and we might get some where.

On to why I found myself wanting to post on here today, I was up readin the LFC,tv website and young Suso is on again, A nice artical about how he would sign a contract that he wouldnt score a goal or liverpool if it meant the team winning many games and tropheys. This lad loves this club big time, Him and wisdom are showing you Sterling what liverpool means to them, maybe the lad should take note and stop thinking hes made it and sign a new deal. I understand there as been a bit of worry on the site recently. Alot of fans shooting for LFC to pay this 17 year old boy what he want's, get his mates up from london and give them house etc etc. Are you guys for real? the day my club let some we prat to hold them randsom is the day we will be ****ed.

So if the worse case he wants to go home, let him young Ibe will fill that boys shoes in a flash, sterling should maybe take a look at the lads that could fill his space and realise what he as at liverpool, we could make him a great! Cheski would let him root, spuds have plenty of wingers etcetc.

So for the eds and the fans were going place, with FSG and BR. the players are buying into whats happening just look how wants to sign up for the long hall. Exactly suarez, Agger, skirtle, suso. Why would the commite and be looking forward and not back like so many boring fans on hear. Yeeee haaa Im loving every min of it and cant wait to were playing tika takka and scoring for fun. The leagues worried thats why they try and bring us down at every turn. YNWA

Scottybhoy 1888 3-1 to liverpool today

Just wondering Ed, when Gerrard eventually retires, who do expect to be the next Liverpool captain? {Ed023's Note - I think Gerrard should hand it over at the end of the season. Lucas or Agger would be my picks}

Suarez should be captain, every single game he shows 110% fight and without him we would be flat. Has to be suarez and it should be him now. Best liverpool player for a long time. RedTurk

Yes Suarez does show 110% in every game. However his English would let him down as captain. When time comes it could be Shelvey or Allen, both young and (when time comes) they'll be experienced.
RedHead

I think I am in danger of agreeing with RedTurk.

Red Owl

I agree with ed. Agger should be the next captain. After the loyalty he showed refusing Man City he deserves it more than anyone else.

GlJosh

Agger it has to be. Unless reina improved his form and gets back as the rock he once was.
I would never give it to Suarez and I imagine no manager would either due to his track record. He's a brilliant footballer and puts in the effort yes but being a captain is about being more than that, do we really want our youngsters to look up to Suarez as an example?

MIKEY

The middle of the pitch is the best place to command the team from
NAVANRED

Say what you like about Suarez, yes on the pitch he does let the red mist descend sometimes, does seem to be getting a bit better then when he first came. Off it though he seems like a good family man who you never see out on the piss, falling out've clubs with birds on his arm, beating up taxi drivers etc. So I would think Suarez is a better role model then some folk would have you imagine, if you believed all the crud in the media like some on here obviously you wouldn't let him near the captaincy, thankfully I can make my own mind up. I wouldn't have problem with that, just think that Agger and Lucas are stand out candidates for the job
JohnBoy

As much as Suarez is by far our best player he will never be captain for a long time. He shows the wrong attitude in other areas.

In true Rafa-style some FACTS about Kenny Dalglish's 2nd Liverpool managerial reign:
1) Working under a director of football and chief exec means that Kenny had no control over transfer fees paid. Comolli likely did the negotiating and Ayre signed it off.
2) In his first transfer window the club spent 62 million pounds. However, it had a net spend of zero after selling 62 million of talent.
3) In Kenny's first 20 league games LFC had the second best record in the premiership. That is why he was afforded more time and the club spent more money.
4) People who criticise the squad Rodgers inherited need to look at the squad Kenny had to rebuild. Konchesky as left back. Poulsen and Joe Cole in midfield. So before you have a go at Adam, Henderson and Enrique, think about that. Kenny took over a squad with 23 points from 18 games and lost 62 million in players and took them on the second best run in the premiership.
5) After trying to rebuild the squad, 2011/12 started well. Up until January and the Suarez Evra episode LFC were challenging for top 4. Then the Ameicans came in and sacked everyone except Kenny and Clarke. Is it any wonder the squad lost it's consistency and limped home in 8th?
6) who on here criticised the signings of Adam, Henderson, Enrique when they first signed? Henderson was wanted by Fergie - FACT. Adam was wanted by Spurs and according to Fergie his corners alone are worth 10 million - FACT. Enrique started on fire for LFC and had a bad start to 2012 as did everyone. When he signed he was one of the best left backs in the league.
7) Kenny was our first trophy winning manager for 7 years.

Thank you for reading

II criticized thee buyingg of Adam as I thought he was and is over rated

Seems you are kennys brother..sure..
he just wasted 80 mill pounds..
do u hear that...
80 damm million pounds...
he plays in 70....a tall striker with a winger to cross...
rubbish...

Least he played with a striker

I am a season ticket holder and I must say this tactic of blaming Kenny for the situation Rogers finds himself in, will not go well with the Anfield faithful. We played some great stuff last season at home and only the crossbar and inspired man of the match performances from the oppositions goalkeepers stopped us getting deserved results.Lets not judge Rodgers on who Kenny left him with.Lets not forget Rafa won the Champions League with the likes of Baros,Traore Biscan Smicer Cisse.

Mistakes that kenny made:
1) continuously neglected our better foreign players in the squad (kuyt and maxi most notable).
2) continuously fielded poor teams as oppose to the ones he could have fielded (playing Adam and spearing in the middle, Henderson on the right and Carroll up front)
3) wasted £70+ million on overrated English dross that only weakened the team.
4) sold raul merieles one of our best players from the previous season.
5) the Suarez issue made him look rather unprofessional an made lfc even more hated (the interview he had with bbc after the match against man united)
6) prioritised winning silverware in a domestic cup over finishing as high up in the league resulting in the worst EPL season in 54 YEARS!

He simply had to go because his tactics were old fashioned and rafas players were the only ones doing the job in the squad (maxi, kuyt, Johnson, agger, skrytel, reina, Lucas). Need I say more

Mistakes you've made:
1)check how many games Maxi and Kuyt played under Kenny compared to how many they were fit but unselected for.
2) transfers were negotiated by Comolli and Ayre , not Kenny
3) Meireles has done well since he was sold
hasn't he? Lol
4) Backing his players as his default position is not a mistake. He had no time to view the incident before the post match interview.
5) Prioritised winning silverware over finishing higher up the table. Have you heard yourself? Are you 12 years old?
This club is built on silverware and if you can't see that then the sooner half term is over the better for you.

Are you saying Lucas was "doing the job" last season? Think you are the one making the mistakes.

No, don't say any more. Spearing only played because of Lucas injury. We defeated Man City Man utd Chelsea and Everton on the way to Wembley. And as a following supporter I loved every moment. We outplayed most of the teams we met last season, creating numerous goal attempts. It was good attacking football. He blooded Sterling, sent Shelvey on loan, to give him experience.Sent Joe Cole on loan, because he wasn't good enough and saved some of his wages.Yes he made mistakes, but Shanks also made mistakes. The Suarez saga cost Kenny the job and not the football his team produced. That's my opinion,Rodgers will be advised not to blame Kenny for any short comings that his management produces.Lets get behind the team but show respect to a true legend to lfc.

The Cricket

From what I have been led to believe, the board actually didn't intend to sack Kenny. Some demand or other was made at the meeting in America that he wasn't happy about and refused to even consider and he dug his heels in over it (Kenny was always stubborn). That left the Board no option other than to fire him. RED LENIN

I am going to the match today and I normally enjoy the games under the floodlights so hopefully we can carry on our cracking league form. If we stay within touch of the top four going into Jan then you never know. Lucas is back soon and Borini in the New year and with the right additions anything can happen. I just hope Suarez don't get booked today.

Mighty reds

It makes no difference when Borini is back he has not scored a goal in the prem. Waste of 10m

How can Borini be called a waste of 10mil? He is only 21 and has only featured on 11 occasions and now he is injured. Look at Lucas who was ripped apart at the start of his career and made many of our fans eat humble pie. Give the lad a chance.

Red4life

To the 2nd poster - you're probably one of the haters that jumped on Lucas for the first 3 years and now love him.
Borini has shown in the games so far that he makes proper CF runs, gets into space, works hard for the team, has a fair amount of pace and looks like he will becomes a top striker.
Just give the lad some time!!

Yes give him a chance but he does not look .

who i think in jan should go and come in....
get hooper and walcott and holtby and Dries Mertens
tell west ham if they give us 20 mill for carroll they can have cole for free
get downing out for 3 mill and hendo on a loan enrique out for 3-5 mill

Why would we need holtby? Henderson and Enrique will be kept in my opinion because both have obvious quality. The only exception with Henderson would be to buy a quality DM as cover for Lucas. I don't see that happening in jan. why on earth you think where going for so man players is beyond me. We'll be in the market in jan for 1 maybe 2 forward/strikers and that would be it. Carroll will not be sold in jan neither will he be recalled, he'll be sold in the summer. I think the players on the shortlist in jan are: Walcott, Sturridge, hooper, hemed, mertens, hunterlaar and aubamayang.

Pardew really, really gets on my nerves.

The way he beams & radiates smugness.

I hope we cram it down his pie-hole today.

It's not only you that has noticed it. I think the whole EPL has by now. Can't wait till Newcastle end the season where they should be.

He's sitting on an 8 year contract. He has every reason to be smug

Contracts are not worth anything unless you improve the team. aklfc

Hi Eds
Do you know if we have any money or not? One minute you have Rogers saying we have money for January and then his next comment is we need to balance the books?

We should only have the £2m left over from the summer that wasn't spent so that at least one quality signing :-) {Ed002's Note - The owners will continue to support the manager regarding transfers - within reasonable constraints.}

The owners should just sell the club. Aint even seen them after the transfer window closed.

We got £4mill from Adam sale.

Hey West Ham goal was disallowed. Time for the pool supporters to take out their conspiracy hats, or is it only in case of United

Everythng in life is to aid united mate, from a disallowed goal to peeling an orange. it's all to appease sir alex of corruption boulevard, mancs, lancs.

Man city would have came back if west ham scored. West ham still had the majourity of the match to score. Ours was last minute against our rivals and if you look Nolan was in front of dzecko who was playing him on so naturally the official sees Nolan offside first. Suarez was behind at least 2 everton players when he knocked it in so the first player the lineman could see was an Everton player (distan).

Nice to see Shelvey and Sterling nominated for the Golden Boy award. On a separate note, what do you all think of Shane Long? I think he's a decent player, but I am Irish and probably biased... I'd welcome the thoughts of the eds too, thank you!

Green Red

Great player but he's more of a provider.

I personally think Shelvey is over hyped. He may well turn out to be a top player, but at this moment in time I don't think his all round play deserves the superstar status the manager and some fans are throwing his way.

Not what we are after at the moment in hounest opinion.

I haven't posted for a while because I feel the site can sometimes be contaminated by negativity. I can get that at the game !
We desperately need to beat the Geordies tomorrow. Preferably in style but a scrappy last-minute own-goal would be ok aswell.
We are playing some ok football without getting the breaks but our defending can be shocking at times. Swansea City completely outplayed us in mid-week and Joe Allen had a rare off-night. Personally, I don't really care that we're out of the Mickey-Mouse Cup but I do worry that we are "finding our level" and that level is mediocrity !
I'm trying not to be negative and, although hard, I'm finding a few positives this season. But first the bad points;
NO STRIKERS.....It's blatantly obvious we need to de-frost Robbie Fowler or at least fork out for a poacher or two......Walcott,Ba and Hooper have been linked.
BAD SIGNINGS; Kenny's legacy has (sadly) been that we are stuck with some pretty poor players. Some have been got rid of but Henderson, Downing and Enrique remain and Carroll will only realise a fraction of his cost.
POOR MEDIA; Our relationship with the national press is at an all-time low. The Hillsborough revelations have clawed back a lot of credibilty but mud sticks and we don't do ourselves any favours. Benitez was often embarrassing and subsequent managers haven't been much better.
The Fox series on Channel 5 was completely un-Liverpool and I watched it one-eyed from behind the sofa. Horrible.
LUIS SUAREZ; The one player every manager fears....hence the almost daily accusations. He doesn't do himself or the Club any favours but I personally don't give a toss about that. I just think we'll lose him unless we get quality in to support his genius.
DEFENCE; Pepe Reina has had more children than good performances in the last two or three years. Brad Jones is okay but not a top-notch goalie. Martin Skrtel, Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique make too many mistakes and Jamie Carragher is history i'm afraid.
MIDFIELD; We miss the oft-berated Lucas and Gerrard isn't the player he was. Selling Alonso and Mascherano has cost us dearly.
Not getting Barry cost us the League and we've brought in rubbish ever since.
FORWARDS; Suarez aside.....have we had a Rush, Fowler or Owen over the last few years?
Even Suarez is more of an AM or LF/RF. Borini hasn't done it yet.
BRENDAN; Big Bren has yet to set the world alight. His appointment is being questioned and his style of football is being ridiculed in some forums. It's all well and good to control possession but the end-product is far more important.
THE OWNERS; FSG have been quite sparing in their thoughts since they took over. It took a while for them to announce the Stadium plans and they went for the cheaper option. They've spent a few bob but they've saved loads on wages by getting rid of some of the "dead-wood".
Do they know football in this country?
Do they know Liverpool Football Club? No.
Are they willing to spend enough?
LIVERPOOL SHOULD WIN THE LEAGUE AND EUROPEAN CUP EVERY YEAR.
THAT SHOULD BE THE AIM !

The POSITIVES;
Andre Wisdom has been immense
Raheem Sterling was drinking breast-milk 2 years ago and is now our best prospect
Suso is a fantastic prospect
Seb Coates is a beast of a defender/attacker
Joe Allen is Ronnie Whelan #2
Nuri Sahin is quality
Lucas Leiva will return soon
We will buy a striker in January

We have on our books some players who most Clubs would kill for;
ALLEN, SAHIN, LUCAS, SUAREZ, COATES, STERLING, SUSO, AGGER, GERRARD, REINA.
We also have a lot of players we would rather be rid of but it's not that easy is it?

Henderson will be a decent squad player and Downing will be easier to keep than get rid of.
Enrique and Carroll are prime examples of why we shouldn't pay good money for Geordie crap and Charlie Adam isn't really setting the world alight at Stoke. Thankyou Kenny.

Brendan Rodgers has given youth a chance.
If I'm honest I'd have done (almost) everything Brendan has done so far.
If I'd taken over at the same time as Big Bren I'd have targeted Joey Allen as a playmaker (success).
If you read my previous posts I'd have brought in Wisdom,Sterling,Suso (success)
Assaidi and Yesil were very astute buys but only as back-ups...more quality was needed.
Brendan has done brilliantly in some respects....Downing and Henderson as full-backs and Suso as a winger have been imaginative concepts. It would seem that playing players out of position has been in vogue for years. Winger Glen Johnson, Central Defenders Andre Wisdom and Martin Kelly, Defensive Midfielder Daniel Agger and Left Forward Luis Suarez might agree.
Probable team for tomorrow;
GK; REINA
LB; JOHNSON
CB; AGGER,SKRTEL
RB; WISDOM
MID; ALLEN,SAHIN,GERRARD,
FWD; ASSAIDI,SUAREZ,STERLING

MY Team;
GK; REINA
LB; AGGER
CB; COATES.WISDOM
RB; SKRTEL
MID; SAHIN,ALLEN,GERRARD,HENDERSON
FWD; ASSAIDI,SUAREZ
SUBS; JONES,STERLING,YESIL,DOWNING,CARRAGHER,ENRIQUE.SUSO

I've just re-read this post and it looks very arrogant. I'm too tired to re-write it but I don't pretend to know more than Brendan. I stand by the sentiment that I'm trying to project.
Everyone connected with the Club can do more but we aren't as bad as we are told we are.
We have some excellent players and some not so good players. We are holding on to some players who aren't at our level any more and we're targeting players who aren't good enough.
We still have a pulling-power but we're "pulling" the wrong things. The wrong players and the wrong "commercial partners". We all know how quickly a man can plummet in life....one bad decision and you're screwed. Two or three bad decisions and you're Liverpool !
Sorry, but I'm just trying to

:)

After reading thru the replies to Bob the Red's post last night i find it hilarious how ignorant some posters are.

Cozinoz states you are not a supporter because you actually have a difference of opinion to his and have the audacity to think for yourself. Tow the party line or your not a fan and definitely not a supporter. There is no right and wrong in this debate Cozinoz, just opinions. Mine is the same as Bob's! Rodgers has nothing in his Cv to show that he has the pedigree to change our fortunes so Fsg are taking a massive gamble on hiring him and he hasn't produced yet. Care to prove me wrong so far?.......... The Irish Rover
---------------------------------------------------

Maybe you need to re-read my point, Irish Rover, instead of ranting. Bob is welcome to his opinions, as we all are. We're also entitled to contest opinions and, as you correctly said, there are no rights and wrongs.....just opinions.
My point was that Bob (and you too it seems) is great at highlighting the current problems at LFC but offers no solutions. Things are not perfect right now so what can the average follower of the club do to produce better outcomes. We could chastise the owners for employing a young manager with limited experience; get the 'BR OUT' banners ready for matchday; boo the manager when the team loses; moan on internet forums because FSG didn't splash out on Pep or Klopp........or we could simply support the club and manager and pull in the same direction to give Brendon Rogers the best possible chance of succeeding.
BR has had 6 months in charge ffs and Bob was slamming him for using kids in his teams (our better performers by the way) and saying he is not worthy of being a Liverpool manager. Irish Rover suggests that BR 'hasn't produced yet' as an argument. Better get rid then, eh? I mean if he 'hasn't produced' by the first two and a half months of the season its time to get Pep in, right? Especially as we have been knocked out of all 3 cups and are languishing in the relegation zone without a single decent performance under BR.
Bob is welcome to his opinion, of course, but he asked at the end of his post whether he was being supportive. And the answer is a clear No. There's nothing supportive about petulant demands for quick-fix glory or calls for a different manager after a few losses. If we end up 4th with the Europa Cup, some people will end up looking like complete t*ts but the rest of us can be content that we aided that process by supporting the team and manager.
I'm not blindly saying that Brendon Rogers is the new messiah or the new Shankly but he is Liverpool's manager and he deserves our support particularly at this early stage.
All opinions welcome but if you disagree at least try to offer solutions rather than just moaning. And maybe save that 'ignorant' comment for yourself, Rover

cozinoz

Best post ever my friend.Let's get behind the boss. It's not going to happen over night people. It's going to take time and unfortunetly some fan's just wont give it to BR but thankfully most of us will.

Cozinoz you fogrt to mention that BR is a yes man , what other manager with some pride would be treated the way he did in the summer with no replacement for losing AC , maybe all the big name managers who never came to us was because they knew what FSG are and did not like their plans for liverpool fc , all last season we knew we needed a striker , we never got one borini is not a proven striker , you ask for solutions well my solution is to wait till january and see if brenden buys a proven striker , huntelaar had a great partnership with suarez at ajax , he has not signed a new contract m and he has scored goals were ever he has gone , we also need a good keeper and a left back , also instead of trying the tika taka football why not just press the team we play high up the pitch and play with an high tempo ,but one thing is for sure there are players out there who will score us goals , everton, newcastle and swansea have bought well and for less than 10 mill now if teams like them can do it then we should be able to do it , plus one last thing 2 seasons ago none of us had heard about BR and we would not have guessed he would be are manager

MB

Brilliant post!! cozinoz
kidmillions

Couldn't agree more with cozinoz, if FSG listened to fans like Bob or Irish we'll be starting from scratch with a new manager every season, we'll be the same as Newcastle or Tottenham, just as the team is looking good we'll have to go back to square one, Man Utd stuck with Ferguson and gave him years to turn the club around, i expect during those years they had impetulant fans calling for his head.....we need to take a lesson from History, building a successful team takes time and along the way we may have to put up with the whiners that want a quik fix

MB ''maybe all the big name managers who never came to us was because they knew what FSG are and did not like their plans for liverpool fc'' Like who? According to absolutely EVERYTHING i've read and been told BR was the first choice and and the ONLY manager that was offered the job.

A simple goalscorer is needed doesnt take a genious to work out all of us have been calling for one and hopefully one will be bought in january Suarez for me is in the top 3 players in the premier league and doesnt get the recognition he deserves but suarez can both score and create we just need an out and out goalscorer and to be honast we havent had one since torres, but look back we have always had a goalscorer going back Torres, Owen, Fowler, Aldridge, Dalglish, Keegan, Rush. To be honast if our team is better than United only we got robbed by the ref a mixture of poor referee decisions and van persies goals have got them to where they are in the league and most of the games i have seen them play they have been outplayed. So chins up if we win tommorrow we go 4 points off 4th place! YNWA

5stars

So why did Bren pay 11 million for Borini?
Wasn't he supposed to be a goalscorer?

Borini is still 21 why do you think rodgers wanted dempsey then?- an expierienced goalscorer?

03 Nov 2012 23:49:37
Love all you guys, and our team. Keep the faith, we'll be alright :-)

03 Nov 2012 23:41:34

Personally:

Reina
Wisdom
Skrtel
Agger
Johnson

Sahin
Suso
Sterling
Assaidi

I like this line up and i think it should be tested, assaidi can cause more problems then sterling and suso right now and should be given a chance to start. RedTurk

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Allen Shelvey
Sterling Suso Assaidi
Suarez

Lets wipe that smug grin off Alan Pardews face tommorow! He really is annoying!

He's still smiling about the fact he got 35m for Carroll, and to be honest I don't blame him.

It not just that he got 35M. They bought well with the funds and have enough left over to buy AC back.

Chi-Paul

I bet he isn't smiling about the 2006 FA cup final is he though.
