Welcome home Kenny, welcome home.

Reading some post saying lucas is missing tomorrow. How come?

Cheers

Abundance of yellow cards

Suspended mate. 5 yellow cards.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers. Figured it must be his yellows.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he can't play a game without picking up a yellow card. I like Lucas but to get himself 5 yellows already is astonishing

Agree0 Disagree0

Astonishing isn't the word I would use and he was unlucky with a few off them if I remember right.

The best problem with getting so many yellow cards is that one of these days it's going to red instead!

Kenny coming back in non exec role it will be mainly ceremonial with no input into team affairs think this is a great move by LFC the man is a true legend

Welcome back King Kenny! Great news!

Just wondering Eds, what exact role will he have at LFC? Is he this new DoF style appointment Ed002 said could be possible or will he be involved in different aspects of the club?

Thanks {Ed001's Note - he is in a non-executive role, in other words no power, just an advisor/figurehead.}

Really glad to see the king back at anfield, the man is a legend and all Liverpool supporters should be delighted

Apparently BR sticking with 3412, and with no decent candidate for RWB other than Hendo, it will likely be Agger stepping into Lucas' shoes as defensive CM, with the other 10 positions unchanged from the past two games:

------------- Mignolet
---- Toure --- Skrtel --- Sakho
Hendo -- Gerrard -- Agger -- Enrique
------------- Moses
-------- Suarez -- Sturridge

Possible Toure could play CM with Agger at CB, but this looks good to me.

Prediction: 2-0 (Moses, Suarez)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would think it more likely Toure or Henderson play CM with Gerrard than Agger. Guess we'll see soon enough, though- should be interesting.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Oct 2013 00:44:48
I have a sneaking suspicion it'll be Sterling at RWB and Hendo in the middle.

The King is back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Absolutely chuffed to bits.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great news!

Following the return of Fowler, Macmanaman and Rob Jones as well, I wonder if the club have any other former players in mind for roles?

Maybe Hansen once his contract with the BBC ends next summer?

Just speculating.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep, welcome home Kenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Alan Hansen having a role would be, to use a phrase, 'diabolical, ' and would be the first of a 'catalogue of errors.'

Agree0 Disagree0

Long live the king!

good to see him back

Eds, why am I getting pop-ups of interviews with Brenden Rodgers instead of the usual Ladies from Brazil Ads? Most dissapointing! {Ed001's Note - sorry mate, the ladies are busy having Brazilians, they aren't actually Brazilians, or ladies. Well, some are ladies now.}

If we're in the top 3 come Jan and looking strong, I hope FSG will sanction a big investment for up to 4 new players in preparation for Suarez's departure in the summer. Sterling, Wisdom and Kelly should go out on loan and my targets would be as follows:

Muriel
Koke
Claise
Montoya

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have you ever seen them play?. we need established/proven players, not developing ones(we have them in abundance)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2013 20:30:59
I'd like to see Hendo replace Lucas in midfield and hopefully Martin Kelly is fit enough to play right wing back.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There are no other options and that is what will happen I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2013 18:53:27
To all those thinking Suarez will leave in jan or next summer, Suarez openly states he wants to win things and challenge. If we continue or growth and progress on the pitch he will see us as legitimate champions league contenders and wish to remain.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And yet, he keeps telling his friends to talk to the media on his behalf, about how he will win the CL with real Madrid and how Real Madrid is his "Dream Club".

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez only cares about Suarez, slim. If he thinks he can make more money elsewhere (and he probably can) then he'll keep trying to push his way out the door. To believe he has any sort of long term future at LFC is pretty unrealistic, in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez will go he is still a little s**t wanting out.I hope he bangs the goals in and we get mega money for him and buy a player that appreciates the badge.Or better still let's promote a young un to help Daniel.

I just wondered what my fellow reds think the formation will be against Palace?
Will we play 3 at the back, at home to a side that are struggling to score?
Personally I quite like the formation.
But with Lucas missing should we look at something else?
Just putting it out there. :0)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Rodgers thinks this formation is the way forward. So he is going to keep it.
It may look better with Coutinho in the hole. But I have not been overly impressed with it so far.
If he is keeping it, I would prefer Moses on the right tomorrow and Henderson in the centre with Gerrard and Alberto behind the front two.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think back to a 4-4-2.

Toure at RB, Sakho and Skrtel at CB, Enrique at LB and Henderson in the middle with Gerrard. Sterling on the right wing and Moses on the left wing, with Suarez and Sturidge up front.

And Cissokho on the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wing backs play there, because henderson has d dicipline he will play there, i'd rather kelly on the right and gerard and alberto in midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

We could go 442 Henderson and Gerrard in the middle with kolo at RB and I would give Ibe a chance today at Right wing- I feel that sterling has not grasped the opportunities he's been given and Ibe will provide a freshness that we need

Agree0 Disagree0

We should get a replacement for a RB/RWB, because now that Johnson is injured, we can clearly see that we lack replacement in that position. We move Hendo out of position, we should get Morata from Barcelona {Ed001's Note - Morata is a striker, we should play McLaughlin there.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Morata plays for Real Madrid, not Barcelona and he is a striker. Do you mean Montoya?

Looks like somebody started on the bivvies a little early ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with ed001 that McLaughlin should be given a bash

We desperately need ‘Top Class’ midfielders. regular internationals. Lucas was never in same league as Alonso. Mascherano and Gerrard, still isn’t and never will be! Nor will Hendo or Allen. If its young with potential the likes of Will Hughes. Oliver Torres(Atletico) and Allan(Udinese) would be ideal. more experienced maybe Ivan Rakitic. Axel Witsel. Inan. Dynamic Central midfielders with ability to pass, tackle, shoot, go past a player and we would dominate teams. we have the strikers and defence…bearing in mind Stevie G getting on and affordability…I’ve too often seen Lucas, Allen outmuscled twisted and turned by average players like Diame, Schneiderlin, Wanyama, Moussa Sissoko…no competition for youe Carricks, Yaya Toure’s, Wilsheres etc…Midfield is and should be the engine room but u need Guile, Craft and endeavour not players who sit back and ‘pass the buck’ as quick as they can!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What about Lallana? He's got prem experience, very good, english. Certainly more proven in a physical league than Oliver Torres.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hahaahahah Carrick? Wilshire is vastly over rated what does he do? doesn't tackle, doesn't score barely gets assists? He passes his passes and goes round players well sounds quite like our own Joe Allen actually.

Agree0 Disagree0

I guess some fans have short term memory Bash you must be one of them. Go back and watch the game last year Liverpool vs Man City at Anfield at that point Allen had Yaya Toure in his pocket and Toure had a real tough game that day he even admitted it after the game I guess you forgot about that.

Mate lucas is top class and different to alonso and gerrard and mascherano

Lucas is important to our team!

Abbas lfc

Agree0 Disagree0

Tend to agree with the theme here although you may be being a bit harsh on our guys but the fact remains that it is an area for improvement for us - poss playing Hendo tomorrow for Lucas will show what he can do in a more favoured role (although more defensive than box to box).

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Lucas is looking a little off the pace and Gerrard is too so I agree we are looking a little weak DM/CM. The rest of the post is fairly nuts though, imo.

Will Hughes is 17/18 and you think he should replace Lucas - we'd be waiting years for him to be ready and you'd just be complaining still so makes no sense.
Oliver Torres is 18 and plays too far forward to improve DM/CM.
Allan, I've never seen play so I can't comment on him.
Rakitic, fair enough.
Witsel, cost £35m a year ago so no chance we'll be getting him.

Gary Medel and Wanyama would have been good purchases this summer I think in terms of affordability and quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rakitić is oke, good passer and good shoot, but not too fast, and he plays AM at Sevilla so?

Afternoon Eds and Reds. I can't help but despair at all the talk of suarez again. Do we relly need to go through all of it again?

Yes he will leave, yes we will replace him. No people won't be hapy and no we won't get 60 million.

I think 50-55 million is the ceiling of what we can expect tbh. He's a great player but he misses too mny games due to his behaviour.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Oct 2013 13:22:21
Lots of talk about the valuation of Suarez
It's quite simple
He's worth as much as someone is willing to pay
He's worth as little as Liverpool are prepared to accept

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on. People seem unable to grasp that you can't just offer a flat estimate like 50 mil.

If Liverpool want more, the club who wants him will pay it. 'Worth' cannot be quantified because it is all relative to those involved.

04 Oct 2013 12:33:05
Afternoon eds.

Can't believe all the post about Suarez, I really can't.

Yes he is a 'world class' player and I would love him to stay, but. HE DOESN'T WANT TO STAY!

The club have got 3 months, and will have been looking all summer for his replacement.

It is inevitable that he will leave.

You just need to accept it and move on.

No player bigger than the club etc

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Oct 2013 12:05:16
everybodys predictions for tommorrow? I think 4-0. so it will probably be a smash and grab by palace lol. we should win these

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Should be 4 nil.

Will prob be 2 nil at HT, 2-1 at FT.

Hope it's 4 nil though!

Rodgers was quoted today saying how much Henderson has improved, and I agree, but I also know that we are not seeing the best of the lad and any improvements have been delayed as a consequence of playing out of position.

There is a young player across the park who deserves all the praise of late, and rightly so, but I firmly believe by playing him in his correct position that Jordan will blossom into a top midfielder.

Yes, he's still relatively young, but he's got the attributes to step-up and cement his position into the centre of our midfield, just as Ross Barkley has at Everton who looks established, comfortable and mature beyond his years.

Stevie won't be around forever Brendan. give the lad some more games.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Oct 2013 15:47:42
Totally agree iv been saying this for ages henderson had all the attributes and he has even bulked up and looks very strong he needs a consistant run in cm and I think that's when wel see the best from him

Abbas lfc

Agree0 Disagree0

Hendersons time will come. Gerrard also started out on the right and even played right back. Hendo will be happy to bide his time.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2013 23:33:37
Well said Irish Rover, I wouldn't agree that Gerrard started Right Side Mid, but when asked to do the job out there he stepped up, learnt the role and excelled. Jordan's starting to do the same, albeit with less goals. It's an education for him that will stand him in good stead for the rest of his career.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2013 00:07:37
I reckon if real madrid really want suarez lfc need to ask for 55 mil plus
I kno ed002 keeps saying it has nothing to do with torres or bales fee but surely everyone knows lfc are in a good position they know they can hold their own even if suarez plays up again and madrid are desparate bcoz benzema is only striker and he's not doing as well as they expect him to if madrid paid 80 mil for bale am sure they can pay 55 for suarez but how do lfc replace him?

Arda turan 30 mil
Benteke 25 mil
Or muriel 15 mil

Konoplyanka is top class but somehow wel go for the other lad yarmenlenko lol he's gud but the other lad is something else

Abbas lfc

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Suarez is irreplaceable, his unique style of play makes him a 'one off 'and that is why there has been so much interest in him. The replacements you suggest, although good player they may be, don't have Luis mercurial ability to go past an opponent in tight situations, he really is up there with Ronaldo and Messi. Here's hoping we can keep him as long as possible!

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2013 11:00:53
Yooo spot on.
You hate him or like him. But we saw for the first time we scored 3 goals after 6 games. Sturridge needs a player like suarez alongside.
This man is pure Machine. let's keep him and get back to CL.
Two words to real MAdrid.
Hell yeahh,,, {Ed002's Note - You seem unable to grasp that he wants out Harry.}

Agree0 Disagree0

You say Suarez is irreplacable but that is far from true. There are players of his calibre available. An example would be his name-sake Matias Suarez. A player in a very similar mould, with the ability to take defenders on, very skillful and passionate about the game. If I 'm correct he still plays for Anderlecht and was looking for an opportunity to come to the premier league. Players like Suarez are available for decent prices but there is always a risk attached to them, as there was when we bought Suarez (his ability to do the most bizarre of actions was well documented before we bought him).

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah okay, he comes with significant baggage, but there is no other player in world football like him, he has impeccable technique, thinks three steps ahead of everybody else, gets behind the best defenders with his runs, can score or create with either foot and looks like he will do something sublime with the ball every time he touches the ball, wherever he is on the pitch, whether he picks it up deep, is taking a set piece or is in front of goal. I mean, he is a world class jerk but he is also a once in a lifetime kind of talent, he has so many attributes that it would take three or four top class players to replace him

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2013 14:57:53
Matiaz suarez was one of ma fav . I have seen him play. But he failed in his Medical.
but if we could get him. he is deadly.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would prefer Mario Suarez, though he plays in a different position.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need the little mercenary to score as many goals as possible in the next 3 months so that we can sell him for as much as possible as January.

Practically NO-ONE is irreplaceable. Certain not Suarez.

I have seen perhaps 3 players in the last twenty years who fit the "irreplaceable" tag: Zidane, Scholes, and Stevie G when he was at his peak.
