Gomis from Lyon is the name everyone who is usually reliable is talking about, although stumbling block is he has Champions league football at Lyon.

any truth?

cheers

05 Jan 2012 23:43:27
We are NOT in for Bent. Luuk de Jong and Gaston Ramirez are priorities. Hoilett and Scott Sinclair are also options

05 Jan 2012 23:40:30
Inigo Martinez of real sociedad....any truth? heard we been scouting him

05 Jan 2012 23:52:56
Darren Lewis also put his neck on the line with that Bent 'exclusive'. He's a red...not necessarily a good one...but a red nethertheless.

DaveyBootle {Ed002's Note - Is there a bad red then Davey?}

Is he a maroon? (although I do like maroon) What are your thoughts on maroon Ed?

5times***** {Ed001's Note - I would say that was fairly bad....}

Never. Its just the journalists I don't trust...I'm sure he's a nice fella...but still a journalist.

DaveyBootle {Ed002's Note - I am one for a real hot red myself.}

I prefer Ecru too maroon if I'm honest

5times*****

I'd say that pink was a fairly bad red.

im not itk and i dont no any romours! but please please ed tell me wer not getting bent! he needs bout 15 chances to get 1! his 1st touch is awfull! i no you keep getting asked about this but have you heard anything even just a whisper that were having talks with torres? thanks ed great site!

I'm not a fan of Bent, and hope we don't sign him, but his stats at villa are something like 65% of attempts on target and 28% conversion rate which would indicate he scores 1 out of 4 chance's not 15

05 Jan 2012 23:30:28
Guys i'm not being funny, but why is their so many posts about Torres on your page? He doesn't play for you anymore and you all 'hate' him don't you? Thats like us posting about Joe Cole constantly, but we like Joe. Its not even just because he might be going back to you, there's posts below from people saying what they think the problem is with him, why it hasn't worked at Chelsea, and what they think the best solution would be for Torres! Its staggering!

There's a fine line between love and hate.

OsgoodIsKing

Christ... What's a chelski fan doing here?

Not being funny mate but why are you even on this page go back to your own page and figure out who is gonna be your next manager instead of sniffing round here..by the way whats the deal with the atmosphere at the bridge it`s woeful got stung to go along with father in law for game before the smart replies start..it was dreadful..JG..

It's the school holidays and they're allowed to stay up later!
No self-respecting supporter is even contemplating the return of El Sulko.....he was a "has-been" when we conned Chelski into parting with £50m and he's even more of one now!
ANFIELDPETE

Forgot ed002 is chelsea fan,should have known my post wouldn`t get through..sigh..JG.. {Ed001's Note - don't cry before you are hit! It was simply that I was in the 'library' with a good book ;o)}

To be fair to : OsgoodIsKing , he has been on our site a couple of times now and is alright for a Chelsea fan .

Qwerty

I like Torres, i've got no problems with him and would take him back in a heartbeat, i know the arguments that was had when he left Liverpool, but we all have arguments with things we leave, you cant tell me you never argued with ya ex's when you split, i understand why he left, his age, trophies and so on, but its just not happenin at chelsea and god knows why, i still rate him and think he's class, but it is gettin bit much with no reliability to the posts.

Ed001,
Was the story to your shatisfaction?

Redjinal {Ed001's Note - very much so mate, though the area needed to be evacuated for a while for the smog to clear.....}

05 Jan 2012 23:30:05
I'm understand that Carroll's form hasn't been great but there has been many great players who have gotten of to bad starts I say give him time. It's not like he's on a high contract and when it gets to a point where it isn't working then we must make a decison -McMenemy

05 Jan 2012 23:24:06
Hi Ed,

Just wanted to ask if you knew what was up with Downing. I really rated him when he was at Villa, but it seems he is scared to run at people and put in a cross at the moment, which is what we bought him for.

Do you think going to a huge club like us has seriously affected him and do you think he will eventually find his feet?

Thanks,
Mitul {Ed001's Note - it started off with him trying too hard and hitting the woodwork with his shots etc, now he is just lacking confidence.}

I've lost count off the amount off times I've been shouting at the tv this year for him to shoot. Last season he would've stuck half them in the top bag

Give it time and i think he will be producin exactly why KK bought him, i know he's got prem experience, but he's still new to LFC and he's gellin with the team, give it till this nxt season and i bet everyone who says we should be gettin rid of him will be praisin him all the time, he's a good player

Carb

Thanks Ed001.

Carb, I also believe he is a good player. But feel that his recent performances are a worry. I dont care how much we paid for him, but I think he does.

05 Jan 2012 23:22:07
Torres has just left Melwood, apparently he was sill in Enrique's pocket from last time we played them.

5times*****

I heard he wanted his tooth back from Agger, It has been almost a year....

05 Jan 2012 23:17:44
On another note, apparently Chelsea are sniffing around César Azpilicueta of OM. If they are interested in right backs is there a chance they will come in for Johnson.

I don't dislike Johnson as much as Ed001 seems to, but of we could get decent money for him then selling and getting his wages off the payroll would be good.

Anything in it Ed?

Anfield Rapstar {Ed001's Note - I don't dislike him, I am unhappy with his performances this season, especially as he showed last season just how good he can be. I have not heard of any interest in him from Chelsea though.}

That's fair ed001. Didn't mean to misrepresent your views. He does have the ability, and I think he has been doing alright this year. Not great but decent. My only complaint would be that the attacking element of his game, for which we bought him and why he is England's rightback, has been not up to standard. But there is clearly something wrong with Downing and him playing together and I don't know which is causing the problems.

all quality youngsters that would solve are goals problem:

giovanni sio
dudu biton
john jairo ruiz
lorenzo insigne
andy polo
leandro paredes
dennis praet
lazar markovic
artjoms rudnev
dries mertens

achilles.

OBVIOUSLY the person that disagreed wants us buy darren bent.
By the way i dont mean buy every single one of them lol

ACHILLES.

Football Manager???

Right so you've watched all these players play? get a grip mate get off of football manager

I wouldn't be surprised if none of them even ended up in the Premiership, let alone Liverpool.

Achilles, you need a clue sometimes mate, or better yet a brain that exceeds Video Game footy levels!

McSnuggles

OMG i dont play football manager as well as bein a liverpol fan im a general football fan and watch alot of games in alot of different leagues. Just cause you morons play it doesnt mean everyone else does! And to the person who says i need a brain i have more of a footballing brain than you ever will pal.

ACHILLES.

05 Jan 2012 23:14:35
Out of all rumours, I think the victor Moses one is the most likely IMHO

05 Jan 2012 23:13:51
i would love torres back! what the hell is all this speculation! where are people geting this stuff from?? pleas post

05 Jan 2012 23:12:54
Carrying on with that post on Doumbia, in this search for a goal scorer I would have to say I would rank our targets (or rumoured targets) like this:

1. Soldado
2. Doumbia
3. De Jong
4. Bent
5. Hooper

All are at least possible but of course have varying degrees of likelihood. Anyone think we'll sign more than one though?

Anfield Rapstar

05 Jan 2012 23:10:16
Ed what's with the Torres rumours?
Admittedly you do get the occasional Torres return post but this is ridicules. It's like the whole page is dedicated to him.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Torres burn all his bridges at Liverpool?
Did he not say things he shouldn't off in order to get his 'dream' transfer?
Did he once claim Chelsea to be a bigger club?

Ed let rip! {Ed001's Note - it is just fantasy stuff, mostly just childish people thinking they are funny.}

05 Jan 2012 23:09:29
Hi Macca

Justed want to check if you know anything regarding Suarez leaving rumours.

Let's face it crowds don't boo Suarez because he's a racist...

For me, why is it so hard for people to forgive nowdays. You would swear that he killed Evra, from the way the media and liverpool fans go on.

Mandela(Madiba) could of imprisoned all the white people for losing 27 years of his life but instead he open his heart to forgiveness and united a nation for change. How has this case helped promote change. This only makes things worst for the rivalry of these two teams. I hope that this does not result in a fan getting injured after matchday.
i think the FA could of handled this case with a lot less emotion from their part. Suarez and Evra were both wrong but only one gets punished for his wrong doings.

05 Jan 2012 23:08:48
You know there was a post on here earlier today suggesting there would most likely be violence during the next United game and i fear he's probably right.

With all the troubles and injustice in the world, hell in this country it saddens me that this is the bs people decide to get in an uproar about. Yes its not right whats happened even worse the way its been reported, but the more we talk about it the more these slime ball journalists will write lies about it.

always a red

05 Jan 2012 19:41:54
Eds 001 and 002, can you please give me your opinion as to whether or not you rate the work of Mick Dennis from the Daily Express?

Red Otter {Ed001's Note - sorry I don't know him.}

Red Otter. Mick Dennis, is supposedly a Norwich Fan. I've heard him on talksport a number of times. He made a ridiculous statement about Kenny being out of touch of football before his appointment. Recently on Sky he opened his mouth and faeces proceeded to pour out about Suarez.

Want a good journalist, and informed, educated journalist. I'm not looking further than Paul Tomkins. Tomkins times.com. He could tell you some truths about how Rada was systematically ridiculed by a xenophobic British football and media coverage.

05 Jan 2012 23:02:53
wouldnt we have more chance in signing Romelu Lukaku on loan compared to Torres

Anyone other than Torres please

Lukaku? That dud? Lol! After all the fan hype about this player last summer, he ends up being a absolute pants for chelsea. Lukaku this and Lukaku that.
No, thank you. I'd rather we don't buy any striker at all. {Ed002's Note - "Absolute pants" - clearly no bounds to your lack of knowledge given he has only made a couple of first team appearances.}

05 Jan 2012 22:58:38
EDS The Mirror have just said a move for Darren Bent is done and he will move to Liverpool i know you have said its unlikely but have things changed a lot or reporters have said a anfield source has told them a deal is done? {Ed002's Note - I know no more than I said previously. I know of no confirmation of any approach by the club.}

05 Jan 2012 22:58:36
Arsenal and Torres would be a good partnership. Torres main problem being the supply of quick balls and intelligent passing. Chelsea seem to be play slow football with simple balls.

Liverpool's midfield wouldn't be able to improve Torres game. Considering the player now lacks the speed to beat defense. He has to use his footballing brain to unlock team defenses.

It may be time for Torres to move back to Spain

05 Jan 2012 23:01:48
Below is video of Evra going down after contact with Suarez. Before you watch it, here are the FA's words:
In the 58th minute of the game, Mr Suarez fouled Mr Evra between the edge of the Manchester United penalty area and the corner flag at the Kop end. It seemed to us to be a deliberate foul, and the referee awarded a free kick. The foul was committed by Mr Suarez kicking Mr Evra on his right knee. Mr Evra explained that he had previously had a bad problem in that knee. He remained on the ground receiving medical treatment for about one minute after the tackle.

2nd point: Mr Evra said that while he was lying on the ground, Mr Kuyt came up to him and said "stand up, you prick". Mr Kuyt said "This is untrue. What I did say was something to the effect of "Stand up, stand up", as if to say that it had been a foul but he was making too much of it". The video footage did not show Mr Kuyt speaking to Mr Evra at this time, but Mr Kuyt admitted that he did so.

Now watch the video starting at about 1:15. Suarez did not kick Evra deliberately, and Kuyt did say something to Evra. Both points are obvious on the video to even the most biased United apologist, yet the FA gets both points horrendously wrong. They had zero desire to get the facts right. They put their blinders on and set out to find whatever they could to convict Suarez, discounting any evidence that didn't fit their wishes.

Either the FA have not seen video evidence of the game or they didn't care about the truth in their efforts to show Blatter how hard they are on racism. No wonder Liverpool are calling the whole process into question.

Evra feigned Injury as he conceded a corner. Suarez didn't kick him at all. I'm not sure if this is really what the FA mentioned but if it is then it's p*ss poor from them.

It was not the fa who got it wrong mate. It was the three man independent committee set up by the fa.

All i know from watching that video is that it looked like Dirk needed to do a number two as he walked away.

Hi eds / maccc,
Mirror journo posted this tonight.
@MirrorAnderson: An Anfield source says Darren Bent's move to Liverpool is done.
What's your view on this?

NiRed {Ed001's Note - the Mirror has been banned from Anfield, they are not spoken to by anyone within the club. Don't waste your time with it.}

05 Jan 2012 22:47:00
Is there any interest in Torres , Ba , Tiote , Cabaye , Coloccini or Bent heard a lot of rumours lately about Torres being in melwood and there's no smoke without fire these days as you found out with Carroll was in the paper next thing you know surprise 35m offered :)

05 Jan 2012 22:22:35
Why would Torres leave Chelsea a "bigger club" than Liverpool. At Chelsea it is assumed "you are a professional" at Liverpool it was quite the opposite. The atmosphere in the Chelsea dressing room is better than at Anfield. At Liverpool it is a project that will take years at Chelsea success is nearly guarateed. Torres was let down by the ownership and Kenny everything should have revolved around him.

We should listen to Torres own words and then think why in Hells name would you want him back!

Torres is a grade A number 1 lose bag!

Dont Buy The Sun

Wtf is a lose bag ?

Its the opposite of a tight bag

That would be loose

05 Jan 2012 22:20:28
Seen mrs Torres in Stanley st in town today 5:30pm

Was he shopping?

I thought Mrs Torres was playing up front with Drogba this weekend

05 Jan 2012 21:41:02
Hay ed002 apologies on the last post. Don't realize what was factually wrong but ill relook that one. In fairness after I posted that I was hoping it got cut.

I can take it Torres an hazard are signing with
Quigz23 {Ed002's Note - My advice is to read it real carefully and it will become clear - lokk for an apostraphe and a missing "a" and how adding the "a" and removing the apostrophe will change the meaning to what you suggested.}

05 Jan 2012 22:33:32
eds I don't mean to be a bother but I've just seen the video of evra saying negro is it legit? {Ed001's Note - that wasn't the word he used but it is legit.}

05 Jan 2012 22:31:01
i know he didnt exactly cover himself in glory the last time he was here but surely a short term loan deal for robbie keane would be a no brainer while suarez is out.....even if we sign a new striker, i feel this loan would b terrific bit of business the lads a proven finisher, not the classiest but always pops up in the right place. that is unless there was very bad feelings left over his departure before?

05 Jan 2012 22:43:54
liverpool need striker have faster in running and clinical finishing....gerrard,adam,henderson can make through ball..that one more strategy to score goal..not like liverpool doing now..all player just cross into the box and then waste it..defender just marking carroll and win it...so easy..how clinical finishing will produce...

05 Jan 2012 22:42:36
So If you were Kenny and you were told help fund 3 new arrivals you have to sell 3 current players. From those sales get at least half of what need to spend , who would ye guys sell and who would ye bring in?

downing, carrol, kuyt
mosses, clint demps,(spelling)defo

sorry for replying like this i could not get the reply button to work.
Mattyf

I'd sell Kuyt, Johnson, and Ecclestone(couldn't think of a viable third sale).

And I'd bring in Soldado, Sissokho, and Adam Johnson.

05 Jan 2012 22:25:55
Torres tried to get into melwood, well he aimed at the entrance and missed so no he isnt coming back : )

05 Jan 2012 22:01:18
Just a note IF Torres does return (anything can happen) we have to look at all the good that he had done for the club and remember at the time the club was going through big change with new owners and a new manager.

You can hate all you want but you all remember the man who was Stevie G's goalscoring partner.

He's not coming back. He's not coming back. He's not coming back. And thank god he's not.

Might as well get John Barns back to play on the wing. LoL

The club has to move on and Torres isn't half the player he use to be. I can't see him turning into a Alan Shearer

Without the consistent movement on the pitch. Torres wont fit in, if anything he will cause liverpool to lose more games than win. We need forwards that work hard off the ball

I am dismayed at all the posts about Torres. He had his time at LFC and chose to move on, had plenty to say about the club once he was earning all the Chelski pounds. Forget about him, move on, stop longing for the past, its over. There are better players to be had, ones who will serve the club, not serve themselves.

05 Jan 2012 22:00:46
If I have worked it out correctly Saurez first match back will be against non other than MAN UTD - this would be interesting!!

Mike W

It's spurs the week before

Has anyone else noticed the news media getting alittle bit obsersive by this black, racist comments.

Its getting to a point where everyone is thinking twice before they open their mouths or risk being labled a racist. Has PC behaviour gone mad.

05 Jan 2012 21:58:43
Surly to god this Torres at melwood is bull think there is more chance of getting hazard, messi, tevez and ronaldo all for £1:75 I will walk to anfeild which is about 350 miles from where I live and run around the outside 65 times naked at a 3 o clock match for everyone to see

Hmmm lets hope its not true then

The African nations should bring up opportunty to find some new players. I hope we will be buying someone foreign and exciting, I hope we get someone in this transfer window.

It will give everyone a lift.

Foreign and exciting? That's bordering on racism isn't it?

Because we're good at spotting talented players at the ACN ie diouf African player of the year aswel

King luis

As I posted yesterday. There are some brilliant young players from Africa, who would love the opportunity to play for LFC.
Shankly's Red Army.

The only black player we have in the main squad is Johnson. and he is even english. united, chelsea, arsenal, spurs, newcastle, everton, stoke, sunderland, qpr, villa, fulham, swansea have more. these are the teams whose squad i can recall right now so may all the teams has more. my point is, with this suarez saga, we have some image changing to do before the damage is done. effective way to do it is to buy good black players. there are many quality players in the positions we need to stregthen. if i were kenny or the owners, i would think about that
miccmak

That's the worst idea I've seen in a long time.

05 Jan 2012 21:56:49
Right this Return of Torres thing and please post this...im not saying it will happen...but after the last transfer window is it really fair to rule it out? IMHO i think it will be Luuk De Jong coming in...but who knows...stranger things have happened!

05 Jan 2012 21:55:52
Eds are you really this bored?! Anyone wanna call which transfer window this whole Torres thing will be dropped?

Will we get him for 50million +? I hope we pay it all back to chelsea

Im sorry to say but if you dont want to support LFC because they bought Torres back, then LFC dont want you supporting them at anytime.

That could happen, torres for Suarez Swap deal with Chelsea.lol

05 Jan 2012 22:09:05
I don't know if if can believe these Torres rumours, but if a deal was to be struck for him then I can see Johnson being used in part exchange as Chelsea are looking for a right back, and he is available for transfer according to some people on here. Maybe it can happen.

I was on a easy jet flight from Paris to Liverpool and Wilson Palicios was on the flight. {Ed001's Note - strange that he would be going there, I mean you would think he would just fly straight into Stoke airport, oh that's right there isn't one there!}

So why would he fly easy jet? is he another cheap millionaire

Making a case for Doumbia.

I hope LFC go in for Doumbia - DC must appreciate what he has to offer but would £25m represent value?

Now you cannot guarantee any player would settle into a new league and score goals from the off, however with Doumbia you can pretty much assume that the risk of him failing to find the back of the net from the off would be minimal and here's why:

First lets take a look at his goal scoring record from the Swiss league and Russian league since the age of 22:

Swiss Premier League
2009: 20 goals & 10 assists in 32 matches
2010: 30 goals & 7 assists in 32 matches

Russian Premier League
2010: 5 goals & 4 assists in 11 matches
2011: 24 goals & 9 assists in 30 matches
2011 Champions League: 5 goals in 5 matches

He was voted player of the Swiss league 08-09 & 09-10 and Russian League for 2011 and top goal scorer in each of these seasons/leagues.

Characteristics:
Doumbia is a natural and instinctive striker, who thrives on unsettling defences with his speed, power and direct running style. He's often found lurking on the shoulder of the defender, where he can run in behind or find space to feed off scraps in the box. He's a real handful for any defender, but despite being five foot 10 inches tall, is rarely put off by the physical side. In fact, he more than holds his own.

In terms of other qualities, Doumbia is a hard worker, has intelligent movement, always finds space in the box, but can also drift wide and dribble the ball to create chances when necessary. This is a player however that is all about scoring goals, and that's where his true talents shine through. In front of goal, he has good composure, is a confident and clinical finisher and can be explosive in tight situations.

He is one of the quickest strikers in Europe, but at the same time is agile, tricky and uses his athletic ability to get to balls that other players can't - attributes that Darren Bent for instance does not possess.

Furthermore he can play left, right or as a central striker - although he does rely heavily on his right foot to do the damage. He is not a technically perfect all round centre forward (other than Messi/RVP, who is?), but he makes up for this by being a very wily goal poacher, who knows how to unsettle defenders with his pace, power, strength and movement, while also having top clinical skills to finish chances off at ease - something we have been missing all season.

Now he is going to the ACN with Ivory Coast and CSKA have got through to the last 16 of the Champions League which both makes a January move less likely, however I think LFC should offer CSKA the £25m or so they would require for us to be granted permission to speak to him.

In my opinion he ticks all the boxes his key attributes and lack of injury record sets him apart from all are other potential striker targets. Could he cut it in the Premier League? I think he could and would, in the final 3rd the EPL is not all about size and strength, its all about speed of thought, touch, movement and finishing, everything this guy has in abundance.

Red Otter

Are you his agent lol

Too often for whatever reason top players or those just about to become recognised as top players - which are just about obtainable by our club are dismissed or overlooked and we end up missing out. We shop in the minority now - in terms of top talent we can attract. We need to be clever, patient yes but at the same time we need to improve the squad whenever given the chance with top players under 25 that possess great potential and improve our first 11. As financial contraints tighten their grip on clubs, buying these types of players is what all the top sides will look to do. Doumbia may be worth £25m now but it in next year say he signs for PSG or Inter and keeps up his record by becoming the respecitve leagues top scorer again, his value will probably soar to £35m-£40m and he will still only be 25/26 yrs old. Or we could go and spend £25m on a soon to be 28 Darren Bent or £18m on great potential like Luuk De Jong to find out he isnt quite prolific enough yet to fire us in to the Champions League and we end up 5th/6th for another season and it becomes yet even more difficult to attract top forgein players.

Thank goodness, the PFA have brought some common sense to the Suarez situation - the FA should have been leading the way on this...

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16424872.stm

I for one had no idea that the word 'coloured' was unacceptable as an adjective until the bbc issued an apology over a comment made by Alan Hansen. And many people I work with have said the same... and my job involves working with the public.

Eds - Not necessarily LFC related but Mancini is saying they are going to sell 3-4 players, who do you think they are going to sell? {Ed001's Note - I really couldn't tell you, I haven't had a chance to catch up on City's plans this season.}

I would hazard a guess at Tevez, Bridge, Onohua (sp.) being part of their clearout

if there are any referees amateur or professional who visit this site and would like to comment on the following . it says in the 115 page evidence which i have READ that the notes of contemporaries in other words the words of both parties were recorded by the fourth official after the match finished . when lfcs legal rep asked the panel which is in the report that i have just READ where were the notes of contemporaries the panel said that and i quote these are irrelevent . then i beg the question why does any referee bother to fill a report in because the panel have undermined the refs by saying there not needed . could some refs give their opinion . by the way i have emailed the fa with this question because in believe they have undermined every fa referee by their comment in the report
which i have READ . the notes of contemporaries where destroyed .

alan waddle

Hi Alan, I'm an ex referee and now an assessor and I quite agree with your statement. I have attended FA player appeals as an official and they very rarely find on behalf of players.
I think because there are so many frivilous appeals the FA make it very tough for a player to succeed, else they'd be inundated with them.
Luis was doomed and judged from the start, the panel was just a sham so the FA could claim impartiality.
Oh and before anyone posts that I'm bitter and twisted I'll state that I don't think a great deal of the FA as an institution or employer, like FIFA it needs modernisation. I suggest more female executives for a start.
Hope this helps answer your question.

i gota really bad feeling the owners are worried about handing kenny funds, i hope im wrong but i think if they analyse a few over priced players we have bought, you cant really blame them for not wanting to give kenny money, by the way just a feeling hope im wrong cos we need 2-3 players, but i hope kenny doesn't repeat same mistakes i.e. henderson £16mil? downing £20 mil? carroll £35 mil? too much money blown away, our scouts aswell as kenny need to do better then that surely.RedTurk

Change the record ffs. Buying footballers doesn't come with a crystal ball. Of course you know better? You've no knowledge of what the owners think, it's just more BS.

The Irish Rover

The Irish Rover {Ed001's Note - ah come on, be fair, he knew full well that we were not going to buy Charlie Adam in the summer!}

I dont think the owners would be too unhappy at the moment - dominating most games, pushing for 4th, in both cups. They are savvy businessmen who understand long-term strategies and investment. Carroll and Henderson have 10 yrs to 'justify their price-tags'. I'm sure they would be content with 4th spot this year and a push at the title next year (unlike RedTurkey who throws his toys out the pram if he's not seeing Carroll playing every game like a 35m Aguero)

cozinoz

Since when does Kenny Dalglish decide what price another clubs player is ? Damien Comolli negotiated the deals for all the players - from Jose Enrique to Luis Suarez to Andy Carroll .

Kenny Dalglish is managing the team , not deciding how much players are worth .

STRIKER;18 years of age plays for the team suarez and coates played for his name is GONZALO BUENO and has been in fine form coming on as a sub in 6 matches and scoring 3 and assisting 3.

we need a goalscorer/impact player!

ACHILLES.

The players correct name is marco bueno he is mexican and did not play for the same team as luis and sebs as their team is nacional who play in uruguay.

You realise he is talking about a different player who is called gonzalo bueno and does play for nacional in uruguay...

Awkward moment when an un-named poster tries to make somebody look stupid, but Gonzalo Bueno does exist and does play for Nacional.

Mr. Anon, you are thinknig of the Mexican Marco Bueno who plays for Pachuca. You should perhaps do some research before trying to correct a regular poster.

Gonzalo looks a good prospect though ACHILLES.

I know who marco bueno is numb nuts theres a player called GANZALO BUENO who plays nacional montevideo.

Speaking of marco bueno what's happening with his trials? he was told to come back in the new year (I think) but when is it likely to be?

Torres ain't comi g back. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar or deluded. For the last year of his time with us his heart was not in it. He has lost a yard of pace, is the wrong side of 27 and burnt his bridges when he left. Given all of this what logical reason would there be for the club spend 25-30m on him. Reality Red

Torres with the right players around him is still class with goals in him

Torres with LFC players around him in 2010-11 was pants
Torres with Chelsea players around him in 2011-12 is pants
Torres is pants and is currently not worth much more than Bryan Ruiz

Liverpool signings ( who i would like to see )

- Nilmar ( Villareal-27 ) Same age as Bent IMO as good with huge potential, and could sign for 10-15m due to the poor display of Villareal

- Podolski ( FC Koln-26 ) Intrest from Arsenal however why not go for it would hate to miss out on this guy he looked brilliant in the world cup

- Mario Bolatti ( Internacional- 26 ) Looks absolutely amazing. youtube him. he is rated the best midfielder in the argentine side ahead of pastore.

- Kevin Prince Boateng ( AC Milan- 24) Absolute utter class, creater, skill full, creates something out of nothing. what abut 15 million and aqua man

- Darren Bent ( villa-27) Hopefully he wont be joining, i think he takes to long to settle, and due to his age think money can be better spent.

Any interest in any of the above EDS

LTP The Red

All the players you've mentioned are realistic, not too expensive and champions league quality (although boateng would be a long shot). But it is these quality of players we need to push not these boring players playing in bottom half of the league sides, they will get us no where.

lavezzi £23-£26 plus maxi
soldado £17m

all of these = £57 maximum

I think lavezzi is underrated because of cavani in his shadows so if he comes to liverpool he can show of his talent

We should get rid of reina and get vorm from Swansea

What a ridiculous post

Vorm has been 1 hell of a goalkeeper this year, but get rid of Reina? are you serious? Reina is a world class keeper, and he should be Spains number 1, but unfortunatly for him, Spain also have Casillas who is amazing and he would have to be to stop Reina bein national keeper

I don't for one minute expect Torres to return, although I am sure he is very aware of the mistake he made leaving a club which I genuinely believe he loves.

I don't blame him for leaving under the circumstances. He was lied to by the previous owners / board, as I'm sure Benitez was and at that time we were going backwards rapidly. He is surrounded by barca players when he Joins up with Spain and he must have felt he had a chance of titles and champions league glory with Chelsea. Obviously it hasn't worked out for us, Chelsea or Torres.

I think if he was to return Lenny would get him firing again, I know he's had injuries but he can't have turned into Emile Heskey in 12 months. I would certainly welcome him back.

It may be hard for us fans to accept but football is just a job to footballers and most are motivated by status and winning things as much as their agents are motivated by money.

I wasnt aware Lenny Henry was working for the club now! lol

dont think board will back kk buys in jan they will save mony for summer.this will result in no european football again. names mention for jan signings bent roberts moses johnson.no wonder board reluctant to spend.afraid kk getting to many things wrong at moment need 2/3 quality midfielders and striker to partener bellamy( crouchy back).stop picking players out of form.ive noticed last couple of games fans turning on players ie downing carroll play making them worse if that is poss.the future is lucas spearing sterling if ever given chance

If we were in top 4 of the EPL it is still not a certainty we would be there in May, so if money is available and the right player wants to join us, Kenny would be able to spend regardless of our position.

Thats if he can score goals with a broken leg?!!

He'll struggle to score with a broken leg

05 Jan 2012 19:19:34
Hello Eds,
Very doubtful in my opinion that LFC, KK and the fans would like Torres to come back. Esp after all the things he said. Why would they want him back? He doesn't score at Chelsea and he didn't score at Liverpool last season. Makes no sense to me but what do I know. Ba is probably not going to go to LFC so I would rather put my money on De Jong.
cheers

I remember a few years back everyone was pleading to bring back Owen and then he went and chose Utd, for money, Thats how loyal footballers are. Torres does not want to come back to Liverpool, he just wants as much money and fame as possible and will go to the club that offers the most money.

I would have him back if he apologised to everyone and groveled at the feet of the king for forgiveness.

The only reason I say this is because he actually scored more goals for Liverpool last year than he did for Chelsea and that was done in one month (4-3). He is obviously a selfish little sh!t but he is a goal scorer and puts away chances when they are put on a plate for him. He would have banged away carrolls chance again Swansea and would have easily been in double figures this year if he was still playing for Liverpool with the amount of chances we have created.

The problem at Chelsea is that he is expected to do too much, I know this sounds silly but let me explain. At Chelsea the person who is playing up front is expected to drop deep, hold it up and bring others into play. At Liverpool we don't need that, we attack a lot more fluently and move the ball a lot quicker. All he would need to do is be on the shoulder of the last man ready for a ball through or sweeping up any balls that are put in the 6 yard box. Best example of this are the goals he scored at Blackpool and wolves last year.

I don't think his fitness would be a worry either tbh, kenny has shown a lot of common sense with gerrard and refused to rush him back. He wouldn't risk putting him out for months just to try and get him back quickly for one specific match.

The only question is, what number would he wear?

Hi Ed(s), I get the feeling that this is going to be a poor window all round. With the Euros coming up anyone who is playing well or regularly will not want to move and take themselves out of international contention, leaving unsettled or unpicked players that have no form to mention. Your thoughts? cheers {Ed001's Note - or ones that aren't currently in their national thinking and will move to try and break in. Then there are other continents than Europe that produce players. So I wouldn't think that will make much difference, the FFP ruling is having more effect than them.}

Workmate of mine couldnt stand Muslims.He was a Hindu.Racisms wrong.But as Dianne Abbots proved,exists in human nature,even subversely,accross world Society.Its a reaction to anything different.Point is,is the punishment of Abbot and F.A bloke gona be as outspoken and harsh on them?Media wont be happy,till Suarez forced out!

Muslim is not a race, it is a religion. You can be english, italian, chinese and choose the muslim/islam religion. People mix up nationality with race. You can change your religion but you cannot change your race.

Theres only ONE race.. its called the HUMAN race.. Black, White, every shade in between are all part of ONE race.. sooner we all recognise that and start to appreciate each others differences instead of being afraid to speak to each other the better!
Luis Suarez isnt racist, Dianne Abbott isnt racist.. both said a racist comment and both have apologised.
We need to ALL as LFC fans just let this go now and move forward as best we can. It doesnt help Luis Suarez or LFC for us to be seen as whiners and bitters.. The media will write storys on the best headlines they can get.. they are tiring of Luis now and the Evra backlash has begun so let them get on with it.. hold ur head up and walk on! Otherwise were just embarrassing ourselves..

After watching City v Liverpool the other night it is very clear to see that the time has come to sell Kuyt, he offers nothing any more and it does not suit him not playing on a regular basis. We need an experienced fox in the box striker, somebody like a Fowler, Rush or Owen and a quality right winger with pace and good delivery. I am sure the Liverpool powers to be have got it in hand. We need that 4th place

Evening Ed002, this may have been asked before but is there any chance of getting the search function and the rumours page replies on the mobile site? Thanks

Chris in Tamworth
PS hope I find you well today are you in England at the moment? {Ed002's Note - I am in England - in the deep south with my people. No stout, flat caps or whippets. I will pass your message on to our IT chaps.}

Ed002,
Do I detect a hint of Northernism in your remarks?
Perhaps we can set up an independant panel consisting of experts from a variety of Northern council estates to examine the evidence at hand?
I see an eight comment ban looming. Subject to an appeal of course.

Hey Eds, and Ed002 in particular. I've noticed you get far too much grief on this site, and have joked about people setting up an 'Ed002 out' group on Facebook. Well I've gone one better, and created a suitably cheesy Ed002 Appreciation Society. I'm sure you'll love it. Come join all ye Ed002 supporters! Together we'll crush the anonymous keyboard warriors ;) {Ed002's Note - You are very sweet thanks you. I have no access to Facebook sadly but I shall look forward t the occasional summary of how it is going.}

Pot on a link

Hopefully the link works... www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=318376138408&ref=ts#!/pages/Ed002-Appreciation-Society/295138177203666 if it doesn't, searching Ed002 Appreciation Society should do the trick

Please stop all the Bent rumours, i am seriously worried anyone thinks he is LFC class and worth all the combined fees paid for him. Tottenham got rid, Sunderland cashed in so why would it work ay LFC? Not technically gifted enough or quick so please no!
Cavani or nothing for me.........

Darren Bent is a smokescreen

I hope so.Uselessssss

I know mate, it's Heskey we're after.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

No, he`s a footballer.

Matty P.

He's one of the best goal scorers in the league and is a proven premiership player. Don't understand why theres so much negativity bein thrown his way, I think if we got him for 18mil and say kuyt, would be a good deal. All this knockin of players is gettin tiersum, get behind the team ffs!

He's more like a cloud of fart gas than a smokescreen

With Mancini saying he needs to sell 3 or 4 players to buy, do you think that he would consider selling Adam johnson to us?

BTW can this utube video have any barieng on recent events, as far as I can make out it won't mattress with respect to Suarez ban but could it make evras account of things unreliable. Macca ur a legand mate and thanks for al your input.

It proves evra is a hypocrite

I was the poster that Ken refered to earlier today

Had loads of abuse but I called it correctly re the Suarez ban 16hrs before it was announced . I am now more convinced that with the disgrace that is the FA and English media Luis Suarez will be a Real Madrid player in 2012 . As a club we should accept this and get as good a deal as possible ie Higuian and Ozil.

Ed with FSG and standard chartered apparently wanting Asian players Do you think we will put in a bid for Kagawa or Honda (i know we missed our chance at 8 million for Honda) as these players are very technical and could help LFC in a major way {Ed002's Note - Standard Chartered should not determine transfer policy but you may want to consider non-Japanese Asians if they are.}

Ok guys i want your opinions

Jay Spearing - Loan or Fill Lucas's role.

In my opinion he should go on loan he leaves massive gaps and cannot do Lucas's job.

Stuart Downing - What's wrong with him.

He seems to be struggling and his performances are very poor compared to Bellemy and Maxi.

Dirk Kuyt - Seems to be lost - Is his time up

I used to love this guy but lately he looks as useless as poulson did.

Suarez - Why cant people move on

Yes he was wrongly accused but we all know when Fergie talks ref's and officials listen so lets just get on with life and support LFC

MJ

MJ, I have some sympathy with Luis as I believe the context may not have been what people think it was but I'm not sure you can say he was wrongly accused

Chris in Tamworth

I pressed 'agre' but i disagree with the spearing bit. he was and is a squad player , and a good one.

Disagree about Spearing. I'm a big fan of his and thought he was our best player against Man City.

I would find it hard to discuss your agenda with you. Means as you already accused me of being a racist yesterday. Which in 40 years i have never been called before. But you seem to take the Suarez incident personally when talked about on the site. Admire the work you do on this site up until this subject. Thanks

I have not seen any racist pressure groups rushing to take luis to a criminal court with their 115 page report as evidence. why because it would be laughed out of court especially of today . {Ed002's Note - Individuals or pressure groups cannot take people to criminal court. Sorry.}

In my opinion I don't think Bent is on the radar or a host of others that have been mentioned. Striker wise I think we are only looking at three at present which are Luke De Jong, Mauro Zarate and Roberto Soldado.

I think one of these will arrive along with a midfielder maybe two. Granero would be a cheap option and would provide more width as would Afellay (but he's currently injured).

As a centre mid option I would like to see Banega come in.

Jonesred

Jonesred. Mauro Zarate. Spot on. Reminds me a little of Romario. Therefore a little like aguero. Although aguero isn't a patch on Romario. Then who is?

Let's hope Mauro Zarate signs for us.

D-Day (1892)

Isn't Granero more of a CM, actually a DM? How would that give us more width?

Hi Ed 002,

Maybe there is an element of clutching at straws, i agree he should never have used the word but i feel people have jumped on the bandwagon based upon a statement that came from Evra..

People are basing there opinions from that statement..

Nobody knows if that statement is correct or not..

The reason for me mentioning the youtube footage is to pick holes in Evras statement which clearly says he has trouble using the N word..

He did not seem to have a problem using it there..

Maybe i am missing something here..

Cheers

Macca

{Ed002's Note - I appreciate the reply Macca. In the big scheme of things I don't think you are missing anything but equally this naive video is probably not the magic potion to fix anything. As I mentioned before there was some fuss about this at the time in France and one of the Chelsea players was questioned about it by AFP, but I really don't recall who it was. In terms of the evidence I think too much is made of the word "reliable" and perhaps the focus should be more directed toward the word "credible" which is where, unfortunately for Suarez, there is no doubt Evra wins hands down. As for the underlying statement, I am with you that there is little to substantiate Evra's statement. I somehow feel that the real damage was done when Suarez switched his story a couple of times with regards to the initial exchanges (thereby contradicting Kuyt etc.) and particularly with the additional video evidence. It has been interesting to read through the responses to your question as there is clearly a split in the opinions given. Let us know of any other snippets of evidence that take you eye (either party of course).}

Will do, cheers Ed002..

Macca

Very good, and neutral, summary there ed. I understand that Liverpool were not too happy with their barristers in the handling of the case. But, equally, the barristers felt constrained by Suarez' stance.

Macca apparently if a black man says the n word to another black man its not racist. What the f.a and our country is saying if u aint black then ur not aloud to use that n word. Suarez isnt exactly white but still gets done. If heskey had said this to evra nothing would of happened at all. Rest my case.

Gezza1982

We can debate this issue until the cows come home, but its done and no appeal has been lodged. Evra has no integrity, so his statement hold no real water with me, Luis gave them reason to doubt him with his version of events. No appeal has been lodge nothing more can be done, from the videos i've seen show Evra for what he is! All the best.

KNEE JERK

Yes fantastic. Right can we please now finally put this to bed and let the players, staff, fans club get on with the small matter of winning football matches. Thats the only way we're gonna put this thing straight is by putting all our efforts into winning football matches. Theres a top four place, a league cup and and F.A. cup to play for and if we carry on like this and let this take over the football we will end up with nothing. So lets move on from this one and for all and get behind the team! YNWA

The report made it clear that when considering the clauses under which Suarez was charged that only an 'objective' test was required in order to establish guilt. This means they only needed to establish that a particular word could be deemed offensive. They concluded there was no requirement for an accompanying 'subjective' test i.e. there was no need to also demonstrate intent to cause offence and that any cultural or other 'mitigating' circumstances could therefore be largely ignored in reaching a decision. Would be interesting to see how the above would play out in the unlikely event that any charges were made against Evra.

macca

It shows that evras evidence cannot be trusted- which is the only reason that suarez got found guilty seen as they said it was unreliable evidence vs evras reliable evidence.

Is the video definitely legitimate ?

cheers

Yes, it's legit, copy and paste 'Le periple rouge (AS Monaco FC Ligue des Champions 2003)' into your search box and in the first video, you will find this clip in there and then you can tell that there is no voice over or anything (35:35 minute of that video)

I didnt mention flanno because as i much as i think hes a decent player an would give his all for the club i dont think he will be the answer for us long term just doesnt have the pace to play fullback.

I think Kelly is more than capable of filling johnsons boots, I can't remember one bad performance from him, if we can keep his injury problems at bey I think it's going to be close between him and walker for the England squad.

Question. What is less offensive about what Diane Abbott said on twitter to the whole Suarez incident! Ed2 what is your opinion? {Ed002's Note - It was a dumb thing to do. But I am not sure why you want to compare it to the Suarez matter. Did the American bombing of Vietnam make the actions of Pol Pot in Cambodia acceptable?}

Ed2 I think by the posts from yourself you have an agenda and are less than impartial!! Which as an editor is not a very endearing factor. I think I know what the agenda is to!! {Ed002's Note - I think you will find I am entirely impartial. But perhaps you would like to share my agenda with others rather than anonymously trolling the site.}

Their you go a dumb thing to do But racist. Is she having her right to work stopped is she being crucified by the left wing No. It will get washed over and you know why!!! But you crusade ed2 as plainly Biased by the cutting remarks and put downs you throw about Mainly to the working class people who frequent this site. I'm sure you'll make sure this recieves your usual biased "EDITING"

{Ed002's Note - I have still not seen you share my agenda with anyone and I am struggling to see who or what my impartiality is aimed at (Luis Suarez? Black female MPs? The working class?).
I have not called anyone a racist by the way and I have defended Suarez to the hilt from anyone here calling him a racist. I have no idea why you see a problem with my saying what Diane Abbott did was “dumb” - if you look back I said Suarez was "stupid" - or is your point that "dumb" is not as harsh a castigation as "stupid is"?
Additionally, I have no idea how I could possibly determine which users of the web site are "working class" and which are not from their posts. I would however like to know how you manage to tell. Perhaps you are suggesting we should have an additional button on the submission form, something like "Click here if you are working class and we will ensure that Ed002 does not edit your post". That of course would be discrimination against an Ed - a hanging offence still.
It is pretty hopeless really. On the plus side the anonymous trolls such as yourself who have put their whippets away for t’ night and have gotten home for a little trolling do keep me amused on these cold winter evenings. I have to go now - and have my butler throw another chimney sweep on the fire to keep us warm.}

Wasn't meaning to "troll"'but having trouble with my tablet. Can put name by Sending by phone {Ed002's Note - Posts are way easier to remember if you simply put your name at the end of them - and I appreciate as the original poster you are not guilty of anything. I am now going to be accused of being overly polite.}

ED02 your responses can be rude and abrupt and often overly harsh but on Suarez you are spot on. Supporting a football club should not include condoning racist behaviour. Wether Suarez was provoked niave etc is all a stupid defence. The club has made this way worse than it should have been. And everyone clutching at straws makes us look blinkered and ignorant. If I call a racist thug a racist name I am still wrong. I strongly dislike Evra for a number of reasons but what I dislike more is a Liverpool player acting in a disgracefull manner.

I support LFC but I despise tacit support of Racism.

Dont Buy The Sun {Ed002's Note - They love my rude and abrupt responses in Bootle and I love them for that.}

My only Problem with you is with this subject! Keep up the other GOOD work!!!lol

I am a huge supporter of the Reds. Also a fan of the RedSox. I can't understand where the idea that there is no money to spend comes from. The owners want to win. They spend money on the Sox. They will spend on LFC. John Henry and Tom Werner know what they are doing. Also please stop bashing our own players for not being good enough. The team is doing well and looks like one or two players away from champions league. Also I for one would be over the moon with winning league and fa cup. These are realistic targets.

i walked out 10 mins from end of city game as section iwas in started booing team team selection did nothing to inspire fans bellamy should have started instead carroll a man out of form played.adam started in front of gerrard.any small chance of winning was throwen away before ko.lets start with strongest team v oldham and get right behind team.certain players not fit enough johnson carroll adam,no pace and looking very tired at end

You obviously don't realise that not every player can play every game.
Gerrard is only coming back from injury and can't be rushed.
Bellamy can't play too many games too close together as his knees are quite bad.
Get behind the team no matter who plays and you might see their confidence improve instead of them thinking if I miss I'm gonna get a load of abuse.

Lets be truthfull team at rebuild stage next 2/3 years.the board made some/few bad buys over past year ,but we gotta get on with it .in summer we need to clear decks get stragglers out .will we be challanging for europe come may very unlikely.this might be reason stopping quality players signing {Ed002's Note - So you think the Board are responsible for the bad buys?}

Here is another report quoting another self-righteous anti-racist campaigner, joining the media feeding frenzy and complaining that LFC risked provoking their fans by wearing the T shirts:

"Piara Powar, executive director of European football's anti-discrimination body Fare, said Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish's comments had been "undignified" and that their reaction had damaged the club's brand across the world.

Suarez is not appealing against the ban imposed for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

"This is a lack of respect for the governing body by Liverpool and the FA should charge Liverpool FC and Kenny Dalglish," Powar said. "I think the FA should come back now and be very clear that Liverpool could be construed to have brought the game into disrepute by the way in which they have consistently undermined the judgment and by Kenny Dalglish's comments.

"Liverpool have been too keen to support their man and in doing so have whipped up a sense of paranoia amongst their fans. This is not the Liverpool FC that we have applauded in the past for their support for a whole range of issues. The responses from Kenny Dalglish have been undignified; the way in which they have dealt with the whole matter has been unprofessional.

"For the club to so aggressively militate against what looks to most people a considered judgment from the FA leads to a potential for anarchy."

Powar said reaction from his colleagues in other parts of the world made him believe the affair was damaging Liverpool.

"They have damaged their brand, no question," he added. "There is no question that Liverpool do have a global appeal, but I have emails from colleagues in Africa asking me what the hell is going on. I think people will be watching this and I believe there is no question that their plans for global expansion will have been damaged by this.

"That's not to say they cannot come back from this but it has done them a lot of damage and they have not conducted themselves in a very palatable way."

Powar's call comes after Lord Ouseley, the chairman on British football's anti-racism group Kick It Out, called Liverpool "hypocritical" and Suarez's apology "lamentable".

Ouseley also described Liverpool players wearing T-shirts in support of Suarez as "dreadful".

Suarez's apology stated: "I admitted to the commission that I said a word in Spanish once and only once. I told the panel members that I will not use it again on a football pitch in England. I never, ever used this word in a derogatory way and if it offends anyone then I want to apologise for that."

Suarez did not mention Evra by name in his apology, and previously said in a statement on Tuesday he would carry out the suspension "with the resignation of someone who hasn't done anything wrong" saying the word 'Negro' was in his country a commonly-used word which did not show any lack of respect.

Ouseley, who was chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality from 1993 to 2000, wrote in The Guardian: "Liverpool FC need to take a hard look at themselves. Since the publication of the 115-page report of the findings of the FA's independent commission, Liverpool's vitriol has increased.

"Suarez's attempt at a belated apology is nothing short of lamentable. I cannot believe that a club of Liverpool's stature, and with how it has previously led on matters of social injustice and inequality, can allow its integrity and credibility to be debased by such crass and ill-considered responses."

Ouseley added: "Liverpool have been particularly hypocritical. You can't on the one hand wear a Kick It Out T-shirt in a week of campaigning against racism when this is also happening on the pitch: it's the height of hypocrisy.

"Liverpool players wore a T-shirt saying: 'We support Luis Suarez', seemingly whatever the outcome. This was a dreadful knee-jerk reaction because it stirs things up." {Ed002's Note - I have to say I find it truly, truly astonishing that you could call Piara Powar a "self-righteous anti-racist campaigner". You need to get yourself a time machine and get yourself back to a few of those Millwall games in the early 70s - you would be in your element.}

I would politely tell them to f**k oFF and clean up their own house before telling Kenny what he should do.
robbie

Ouseley sits on the board of the Manchester United Foundation alongside David Gill who is also part of the FA Board. Piara Powar is, like everybody else with a political axe to grind on this issue, taking their lead from the snippets and selected extracts from the report as highlighted by the media in general rather than reading and analyzing the document as a whole. It amazes me that only today certain journalists have begun to take an interest in Liverpool's reticence to accept the findings instead of originally asking themselves why, Liverpool FC, with a great tradition of displaying integrity towards the game in this country, should be outraged by what has since become apparent as a flawed disciplinary process, and that's being kind.

- Moussa Sissoko
- Ryad Boudebouz

Outs:
- Andy Carroll
- Maxi Rodriguez
- Fabio Aurelio

Why do people do this? It's not a rumour and it's not banter.

Chris in Tamworth

We wont be buying any of these players nor wll we be selling any of the players above, not this January anyway... Boudebouz maybe in the summer the only one, if Liverpool got Drogba he'd have to take a pay cut also Drogba offered £300k a week in Asia! Andy Carroll wont be sold, for me we should be playing to his strengths, Downing, Johnson, Kuyt and Enrique must deliver better quality crosses for Carroll to get on the end of them, dont just blame Carroll cos he hasn't scored a goal, if he's not getting any service how is he gonna score?

No chance

Question why is it without demba ba using much pace at all can clinically finish like that last night against man utd, its called something out of nothing, thats what seperates quality from average. Andy carroll is average and people will come to realise that in the coming games. another point i would like to make, why does people always say on here crosses need to be better? surely andy carrolll needs to use his mind and move into the right positions, commentators have spotted it but some of u cant.RedTurk

I think Liverpool need to have a good look at the squad and now is probably a good time to with us pushing for 4th spot ,
I think we need to have a clear out of some players who are good but are perhaps taking up the space in terms of salary and bench/starting

players out from Liverpool in my opinion should be :
Kuyt- good player , adds a goal here or there but he isnt the kind of player we could rely on to get goals,
Rodriguez- good off the bench seeing we didnt pay much (think it was a free) it may be good to cash in on him also same as with kuyt i dont think he has that creative spark that we need,
final out spearing - he promised alot but as far as i can see hasn't deviled hes 23 now (if i remember rightly) hes not the kind of player we need
if all three are sold that would allow us to buy soldado or de jong ) maybe both without having to take to much out of the funds for this also with spearing gone shelvy may get more pitch time

Kuyt was our top goal scorer last year...
maxi scored 10 goals in 10 starts besides the last 2 games he startd

I think downing should get sold, aurelo sold and carroll just need confidence and time

Sorry this is the quote from Evra..

From the FA report: "Mr Evra told us that he believed, from the moment he heard Mr Suarez use the word "negro", that this meant ******. The Commission asked Mr Evra why, then, did he not tell the referee that he had been called ******, as opposed to black. Mr Evra's answer was that even when he pronounced the word "*******", it was not a word he liked to use."

Look at the youtube video and see what you think...

Been sayin this to the lads in work mate totally agree the more you scratch the surface the more u realise how unjust it is Paul Tomkins got good read on this aswell

If this guy was deemed "more reliable" then Suarez must've turned up wearing a KKK outfit. Bloody outrageous. Saying he never told the ref because it wasn't a word he liked to use, didn't have any problems back in 2004 did you Patrice?

Absolute disgrace. he had no problem using it there

Evra is a dirty rat
k-h

Well it supports our honest feelings on the matter , Evra was completely misrepresenting the exchange to suit his agenda , an agenda the authorities were only too happy to execute .

However , LFC have accepted the consequences and Luis Suarez has proved himself the bigger man with a LFC supported apology , therefore we move on in the knowledge that LFC is above it all and too self respecting to allow this issue to impede our best efforts as a Football Club .

We will fight them on the pitch with pass and move - no problems .

I posted earlier about the F.A. having blood on there hands if as I suspect there will be trouble at O.T. You people have clearly learned nothing from the Suarez incident and are jumping on me for making an observation and then basing your replys on an inferance, I don't advocate trouble at the game but am old enough to know what can happen when such an inflamatory incident occurs between us and them! And I live smack bang in the middle of the city and know of a few groups(not personally) who will not take what's happened lightly!! This is not how I react myself but there are others that do. I would just like to know what colour the sky is on a few of the posters who replied to my earlier posts PLANET because if you don't think there will be trouble at that game then your naive to say the least!! Oh and just for the record my personal anger is not with Evra or Ferguson because that is the type of behaviour I expect from that crowd, NO MY PROBLEM IS WITH THE MAGGOTS AT THE F.A.

Guys some of you on here are absolutely delude your saying are players are crap but we need to support them sometimes they might have a bad game and also not taking a personal snipe but the guy who posted about Drogba you need your head checked, yes Drogba is a good player but he is a dirty, diving, filthy Chelsea Rent Boy why would you want him? Also to finish off my rant stop with the Bent rumours he IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH that's why the best team he has played for was Tottenham when they were so so if he was good enough for LFC he would be at a big club already also 20m+ for a guy who is 27 wake up and smell the coffee.
Ed's great job you do don't know how you cope!!

I am interested to know everyones opinion of the Evra video that has appeared on youtube..

With reference to him using the n word..

Thoughts please..

Cheers

Macca

Looks like a pss poor attempt at being a rapper to me but nothing to do with Luis.

I dont care what he said thats a seperate issue. But no Lfc player should use racist language, two wrongs is no defence. LFC have shamed the club in their dealing with this affair.

Dont Buy The Sun

2 faced & disgusting if you ask me!...

Any transfer news for us legend?

Shows him as a hypocrit not us. Plz tell me this isnt are defence ?

Thanks Macca - will do.
What's the link / search for the new 'You Tube' footage?

At first I thought it was just a fake one with someone speaking over what was actually being said, but if it's real well it doesn't really make a difference now does it? That happened during 2004 I think, but who knows.

Alex

'Macca'

I posted about this video after I read the 115-page report into the Suarez/Evra case after it was released.

I found it laughable that the report claimed Evra was an impressive witness and gave his evidence in a calm, composed and clear manner and then go on to discredit Suarez and his evidence.

Yet there is so many inconsistencies with Evra's evidence.

The referee said that Suarez had been calling him black during their conversation but later changed it to n****r. When questioned on why he changed it he said he doesn't like to use that word, but this video clearly shows that to be a lie.

He also said on TV after the game that Suarez had called his this word 10 or more times but Ferguson said to the referee that Evra had told him at least 5 times.

According to the report the evidence Suarez gave was inconsistent and changed when he was shown new evidence but it is also clear that Evra's evidence is also flawed.

If these reports are true that Evra was allowed to watch each video with the FA and then give his evidence, whereas Suarez was not allowed to view the evidence until the hearing then this may explain why Evra was calm and an impressive witness while Suarez had to work from memory of a game two months ago.

JRG

So macca are you on about the video that has the FA's credible witness but years before called evra a liar in that one you on about lol my opinion is that Suarez should have his ban halved as the video questions his character anways it's just my opinion because he did admit saying the words and has to be punished but I would of gave him a two match ban and do some training classes or racial awareness classes you know stuff like that and it does not paint evra or the FA in good light cheers pk

EVENING EDS ,MACCA. just looked on youtube and the clip has been removed .I suspect that is so the FA can cover there own backs because off what kenny said after the s**ty game . think all these football govening bodies worldwide are hidding alot cheers mate psv

It looks badly dubbed to me, but I don't know if he's saying it in French & someone has voiced over it?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - The video is well known and I am sure you will find it via a French site if you Google Canal+ and Evra. It was filmed a few years back and there as a bit of a fuss at the time in France and I recall someone (perhaps Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink) talking to Agence France-Presse - but I do not remember the detail. As an interesting aside, it was all tied in to the game which saw Chelsea agree Mourinho as their new manager, but that is another story.}

Smacks of hypocrisy...evra is a disgrace but at the end of the day, suarez should have been made aware of our rules a long time ago. feel for the guy as he is being branded racist which he clearly isn't, yet evra gets away with his xenophobic mutterings, and then this which categorically shows the word doesn't offend him (and i believe having spoken to my black friends, that is far worse than what suarez said.) have we dealt with it well, with hindsight no; deserve an 8 game ban, no; should people be aware of this video and show evra for what he is; 110% yes....problem is coming from us fans or the club, we get hit with the "let it lie" stick, constantly having to defend the club to friends near me (leeds fans). they feel we are a "woe is me club" which angers me hugely, maybe a viral campaign would do the trick...easily organised??
what are your thoughts mate?
redmatt

Well as there is clear video footage of him doing it the F.A would turn a blind eye and not do anything, In a heated argument people say things that they may regret but as Evra cried about being called a spanish word (not a racist word) but finds it so easy to call people the N word then he himself should be fined, Banned and severely punished

MJ

Macca
This shows evra to be the lying spambag that we know he is but isn't it from years ago. It is obvious he is just doing his rap thing and plenty of (loadza) raps contain the gangsta style language. If we are going to try and use this in an appeal we will end up being a laughing stock across the world. I don't want to see my club hurt any more over this incident which I think has been blown out of all proportion. If you have contacts in the club beg them not to be stupid and keep dragging us through the mud. I fear for Kenny now and what FSG might decide to do. Geoffo

I agree he should not have used the word, the club are incensed because they believed Evras account to be totally incorrect ..

I am just pointing out this video because if you read Evras account, he says he cannot bring himself to use the word..

Cheers

Macca {Ed002's Note - To be fair though Macca, "clutching at straws" does spring to mind doesn't it. I cannot help but agree that Evra cames across as a bit of a jerk but I find it tough to see that this clip will help Liverpool at all. And I would be interested in your opinion of the clip?}

It's a tough one I suppose, as a friend pointed out to me, the word in question has almost been reclaimed by the black community and carries totally different connotations to those if it were spoken by a white guy. So I would hardly call him a racist.

BUT what I dont like about it is, as ye posted above, is that Evra cleary lied to this panel about his usage of the word.
All it does for me is confirm my opinion that Evra is a nasty piece of work and a man not to be trusted.

davethebutcher

I found it and watched it.
I think for Evra to say what he said to the FA about the 'n' word being not a word he liked to use when this video clearly shows him using it - is hypocritical to say the least!
The Goatherder
JFT96

Yes, but this calls into light his already questionable integrity, all the best.

KNEE JERK

I think that the video show how unreliable and false Evra could be about this whole thing. However, when I say that it IS a separate thing completely, and although I believe Suaraz and KK, I think the FA won't do anything because they want to make an 'example' of being racist.

I don't agree with racism at all and if Suarez was racist/proven guilty then he'd deserve a huge ban, but just relying on the word of a guy who has a video of himself on YouTube acting like that? Pathetic imo. FA/whoever it was that has give Suarez the ban won't want to go back on themselves either, to keep up their ego.

It will be classed as a black thing(can i say black or is it racist) so he will be allowed, double standards any1?

What's done is done, I truly believe that Luis had no idea that what he said could even be dreamed of as racist. The whole things stinks of fergies apse and he will be loving what HE has done. Just glad that their recent results should have taken that smarmy smirk off his face and we should all just bite our tongues and hope that karma catches up with both him and Evra.

Macca,

I think Evra's made a rod for his own back. The phrase that 'people who throw stones shouldn't live in glasshouses' springs to mind.

Whilst all this tripe gets rolled out backwards and forwards and many so called 'media' experts pin their anti-LFC motifs up for everyone to see so readily, i fear the whole point of this sorry saga is going to disappear.

The media, hook, line and sinker have jumped on the racist bandwagon. The speed in which they have done so, has been staggering even by their own prior anti-LFC stances.

They are as guilty of the pure arrogance they have labelled against the club and yet defend their actions with the simple 'so you condone racism do you?'

The Mirror's disgraceful headline sums it up perfectly, as does Sky sports' decision to slant their reporting in one direction and one direction only. I am struggling to see why the public are so up in arms at the club's stance.

I am appalled at the quality of the process from start to finish. The level of proof the panel has decided on. They have decided to find this case based on which character they chose to believe is the more credible because the lack of evidence to find Suarez guilty is just not there.

To state that one gave a more credible and consistent testimony over another is tantamount to hearing what you want to hear and if you need/demand/must have a charge to show the World you mean business, this is it.

An agenda, hidden or not is at play here. You have to have confidence and trust in the process to be able to rely on it.

Evra being coached to be able to deliver his lines, his history of unreliability, his testimony within days of the incident in relation to Suarez' months after, the inconsistencies with the dialect, the lack of witnesses.

It's all stacking up. Had this been in a Court of Law with the criminal standard of proof required, i wonder what the outcome could be.

The handling by the FA from the start has left a less than savory taste in the mouth. I don't trust them, they are a bunch of mediocre minds concocting a very impractical plan to a set of rules more complex than their minds can comprehend.

I haven't an issue with the ban whatsoeverif the process is fair, just and right. Unfortunately these traits will not be found in the corridors of Soho Square.

If you have doubts about the integrity of the process, how can you accept the findings when things points the other way?

Ironic (again not the first time i've used this word) that the panel display the same inconsistencies in their judgement that they accused Suarez when delivering his testimony.

Bob the Red

Pardon the pun, but its Pot calling the kettle black!

He used those words in an aggressive albeit trying to be humerous way.
However we cannot overlook the fact they he can't accept someone calling him what he clearly calls others. That along with his world cup antics, the Stamford bridge fiasco where the FA themselves called his evidence unreliable and tmyou can see why KK and the club are saying the whe thing is a set-up

Sinner21

Is this the video from quite a few years ago? looks like he's on a hotel balcony or something? If it is, from what I remember it's almost as if he's rapping, so perhaps he's just singin' a wee song. It does beg the question why he wouldn't censor himself if he finds the word so abhorrent.

Rugby Parker

I have to say I have been in agreement with ed002 throughout this saga. Suarez was stupid to say what he did, and stupid to give Evra & Ferguson the opportunity to lay all this at his door. Cos it's one of those things that you just can't win, once accused.
The Real KB

If this is the evidence Kenny referred to he is turning our club in to a joke. I have no way to get to games any more but I have been proud of every player who has stepped on to the hallowed turf. I never want to see the reds with the reputation shot to pieces by a player who has been at the club less than a year. I feel that if it had been Carroll who had been found guilty every red would want him gone tomorrow.

Blood Red Alistair

Blood Red Alistair, it is nothing to do with the clubs evidence..

I agree he should not have said it..

I am just trying to bring attention to people that Evra has used that word before..

This in my opinion makes his statement less credible..

Cheers

Macca

The FA and their 'independant' panel are a disgrace

Nothing will change now. but what is clear this shows that the FA clearly dont do their research when conducting an investigation. surely with a case like this reasearch should have been doing checks on backgrounds on both, find out if this is a one off occasion generally check out their personality. evidence like this should have been found and taking into account. to find someone to be a crediable witness in law i would have thought that full background checks would be a must. by doing this these things would have come up. i would say poor work by the FA. Evra has been found to be a liar before but they felt him to be a credible witness.lol. i think Suarez was in the wrong place at the wrong time, Blatters comments really didnt help and the FA wanted to show their feelings on racism. but in doing so they have made a mess of everything and they themselves have come out looking stupid.

my concern is Suarez will leave in the summer cause this will take a long time to go away, maybe never and who misses out, us fans, not just liverpool but all of us. all fans love to see great football and it will make our league poorer if he does decide to move on. J

eds.. 19m as quoted by some for darren bent is too much,not good enough,why dont liverpool sign someone on loan until end of season,then decide what to do with caroll and review who would be suarez's best partner or ideally player to play with,im tired of losing beings expensive flops in recent times.esp aqualani and caroll which i believe was a panic buy as torress left. waste of money.
i cant understand why liverpool didnt have a look at miroslav klose who was a free transfer,yeh ok hes 32 but has scored goals at all teams hes played in germany and now at lazio.proven in international level.liverpool need to be shrewd in the transfer market. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool took action to bring in Bellamy on a free transfer.}

05 Jan 2012 16:08:38
Downing Verses Bellamy. I have to say i haven't jumped on the 'Downing is crap' bandwagon and i'm not really going to start now, however just before xmas Downing was showing strong signs of big improvement and therefore i thought his settling in period was behind him and he would go from strength to strength. Unfortunately he turned in what can only be described as a turgid performance against City. He appeared to show 'fear' up against Richards and a complete lack of belief to get past him. When switched to the opposite flank and a chance to get at Clichy, he just looked totally shot of any self confidence and belief. No penetration, no darting runs, no movement off the ball. He appears to go into his shell when pitted with Glen Johnson and allows Johnson to do all the flanking down the right hand side, content to sit in and defend the space Johnson has left.

When he picks the ball up just inside our half, there is no immediate thought to attack the space with pace. Instead he ambles into the space allowed to him by the opposition full back and when 35 yards out the full back decides that he's had enough backing off and asks the question to Downing 'what you gonna do now sunshine?'

Without any hesitation, Downing stopped his tracks, put his foot on the ball and 85% in the second half he rolled the ball back to Johnson 10 yards. 9% he rolled the ball sideways on the backward angle and the other 6% he lost the ball trying to take Clichy on with all the determination of a runt in a rather big litter trying to get some milk.

This isn't what we paid a lot of money for. Whilst i rate Downing, he just isn't performing to the standards required or meeting them consistently enough. Frustratingly, he has the required pace, skill and technique to be a damn good player and worthy of wearing the shirt. He picks the ball up and you urge him to get at the full back at every opportunity. That's his job. Get round the back and pop a decent cross in. Do it often enough in a game and you'll get the rewards sooner or later.

Bellamy. His attitude is chalk and cheese from Downing's. On Tuesday night, his very first touch after coming on, he picked the ball up on the half way facing our goal, within seconds he's turned and running at Richards. Richards backed off, aware of Bellamy's pace and backed off. No holding his zone, he wasn't going to ask Bellamy the question. bellamu gets past him and puts a cross in.

In a nutshell. The difference. Bellamy did this all night thereafter, no thought whatsoever of turning back and giving the ball to Enrique. As soon as he gets on the ball, he's off and threatening.

Downing needs to get this into game preety damn quick. Bellamy on the ball frightens the life out of defenders. They know he'll run them and he has the pace to hurt them. Downing carries no such threat and allows defenders to bully him and ask questions of him rather than the other way around.

I look at Bellamy and can't help but think Rafa made a poor mistake to sell him, even if he blamed Plick Parry for having to raise funds to buy Torres and his conditions with his knees means he's a little like Ledley King and has to be treated gently. You play Bellamy for 2 full games one after the other and you run the risk of not seeing him again for long periods. Therefore whilst he is an excellent impact player, we must realise we cannot utilise him further.

Bellamy's performances may not help Downing, but at the very least Downing should look at Bellamy's attitude for attacking play and try to replicate it. if defenders see enough evidence that Downing is prepared to get at you time after time, it's going to affect their way of dealing with him, which at the moment is pathetically easy.

Happy New Year to all and sundry.

Bob the Red

Yeah, I agree Bob. Downing has lost his mojo. I would play him against Oldham as well as Carroll & maybe Adam. Fill in the gaps around these 3 but they definately need to play. They need to have a refresher on how to dominate players. Hopefully the Oldham game can do this, without being over confident of course & thinking the result is a given.

The Irish Rover

Ever thought about being a serious writer, Bob? Brilliant read, the metaphors in it were fabulous.

RenegadeRed

Happy new year bob the red,
I'm a big fan of your posts,
it's like reading a regular column.
Agree that Bellamy has been great,
I have to confess I was a bit critical
of him when he came back because
I thought he had a bad attitude
and would be a bad influence in the dressing room. But he has way proved me wrong. He came back to Liverpool because he wanted to play for Liverpool.
Downing needs to get some of Bellamy's agression into his game. As some other poster said, he looks like he's going around on the pitch as an insurance salesman. Excuse me Clichy, I wonder if I could interest you in a quick dribble on the left? No, ok then, thanks for your time anyway, Enrique, here's the ball...

Downing V Bellamy

Downing is placid, Bellamy is a terrier

Downing not up for the fight, Bellamy is

Downing faster than given credit, Bellamy very quick

Downing doesn't run at defenders without generally stopping, Bellamy runs at defenders and they know he is unlikely to stop to often

Downing nice guy, Bellamy nice guy but with aggressive temprament

Downing seems low on confidence, Bellamy believes he can do anything

And that pretty much is why Ballamy is showing better than Downing

dark shadow

So by the end of ur long essay u relised downing is crap lol

Particularly if downing wants to be in the england squad. I was quite happy we bought him but a bit like a a disappointing take away, he has been a bit of a let down. I presume it is a confidence thing. He needs to go past people and get crosses in.

Iggypop

Happy New Year Bob.
To be fair to Downing, he usually starts the games when we keep it tight early doors.
Our midfield (Stevie G apart lately, and Henderson only occasionally) do not get get up to support or go beyond the striker/s. This is even more apparent when we play one up front.
So consequently he quite often doesn't have much in front of him to encourage him to get to the line and sling a cross in.
But, yeah, Downing does look a bit subdued. Second half especially against City he was, as you say, backing off a one-on-one foot race with Richards.
I hope a bit of pace up front, say with a RW and / or another striker, may help him out and give him rather more options to pick out in the area.
That's my take anyway mate.
The Real KB

Bellamy and Gerrard change games, Downing and Adam do bugger all

MJ

I agree that Downing has been well below his best since joining but I have to say in his defence against city on many occasions when he got in a position to cross he looked up to see only Carroll in the box and 4-5 city players. Not much point putting the ball in there then is there

Well said Bob. I would show this post as an example of how a supporter can (constructively) critisise without being a whinger.

Dara D

I feel sorry for Downing, play him on the left tell him to beat players, wip the crosses in. but more importantly tell him not to worry if it does not happen all the time. i think he is feeling the pressure and all he needs is to just be told dont worry just go do it. j canada

In training I would make Downing play and get past Skrtel.,Agger and Coates. When he can do that i would give him a game. He is totally lacking in ideas as soon as he gets anywhere near the box. He crosses to nobody and then moves backward instead of supporting the attackers. He is not atm a team player.

05 Jan 2012 16:04:06
Man there was a lot of moaning after the City game on here, we were done by a mistake from the throw in, a set piece and quiet a soft penalty. Lets face it 3-0 flattered them.

Apart from a striker and maybe someone to play down the right i really don't see the need for this major overhaul that some suggest.
To be fair i wouldn't mind some people having a go at player half as much as long as they praised them when they play well. I mean i think Henderson has played well since he came into the middle, look at the stick he got.
Would it not be easier to support the players from the off, thus getting rid of this 'sing when we're winning' attitude that has crept its way into Anfield lately.

Hello, i was just wondering if theres any news on fabio aurelio? I think hes a class player but he never seems to play, is he injured or out of favour?

Jose Enrique is playing great at the moment and is very consistent so until Enrique has a bad game or Aurelio gets a chance against Oldham, thats the only way you'll see Fabio i'm afraid

I just wanted to say how can some of you call your self Liverpool fans? You slag of players for not performing at the end of the day they still put on that red shirt and yes andy Carroll has not been great but he sure ain't been "crap" as some of you say he is only 22 so give him a chance and when he's banging them in you will all be eating your words have some loyalty. And Darren bent would be a great signing I'm not sYing he is or not comeing but if he puts on that red shirt I know I will be supporting him! He's a proven goal scorer and that's what we need at the moment! So I suggest you guys back the players and stop casting them off they all have the capability to be amazing and king Kenny don't buy crap! YNWA gazza

Just leaked in several newspapers. Should be interesting:

RACE row soccer star Patrice Evra was filmed spouting the n-word on a French television show.

The footage — taken from a documentary — shows the Manchester United star spewing out a foul-mouthed rant and using the word n*****s.

Steve068

Yeah just seen it on tv my god that man is an awfull individual

I think he used the phrase "f*****g N*****s"

Having read the FAs report on how they came to their decision, I am more convinced than I was before that this was a set up. Not presenting the two Evra interviews before the trial was significant and unfair despite LFC accepting the rapid transcriptiion of these during the hearing. In a real legal case this could have stopped the whole process. Apart from this, They took Evra's word against Suarez's in a completly subjective manner. I support the club's further support for LS.

Personally, I still wait for the FA to charge Evra for his misdemeanours(admitting he is not fluent in spanish and then the change of what he called Louis - either way he was racist or insulting himself) and am disappointed but not surprised by the response of the national press.

What also struck me was that the panel seemed to think the "incident" has started with Louis kicking Evra.........the little Frenchman had been kicking and winding up Louis for the whole game so they should reconsider.

Iggypop

This video was on Twitter/Facebook as soon as Suarezgate broke back in OCT and not one of the media took up the story or even commented on it... The Witch hunt of Suarez and Liverpool FC began and now that an apology has been made and the ban accepted and theres not much more mileage in 'Suarez is a racist' headlines.. they are turning to this video and the Evra Backlash begins!
How many headline makers will call him Racist? Will it prove him a liar? No course it wont!
ItsNotRocketScience

Correct it's been in the public eye for months. Today it was played by SSN with bleeps over the swearing.
I truly believe that Evra will not be able to stop his continual moaning, baiting, and nasty behaviour and KARMA will visit him.

Here's an interesting article from the herald.ie site:

"LIVERPOOL will seek urgent talks with English Football Association chairman David Bernstein to demand reform of the disciplinary procedures that led to Luis Suarez's suspension.

Although the Merseyside club have now accepted the eight-game ban, their anger at the guilty verdict has not diminished and the means by which the punishment was reached remains a matter of dispute.

Senior club officials are to contact Bernstein to register a series of complaints about the handling of the Suarez case and request a thorough inquiry into how future incidents of this nature are dealt with.

They will even consider asking the FA if it would be prepared to take such a case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to enable a player to clear his name beyond the English governing body's jurisdiction. However, for Liverpool to have taken the Suarez case that far, it would have required the FA's agreement.

Liverpool believe judging such an incendiary case involving alleged racial abuse should never have been based on the balance of probability as the commission was entitled to do. It could be argued a higher threshold of guilt – as will be required in the forthcoming John Terry race abuse case in the criminal courts – is justified.

In a criminal trial, Suarez's guilt would have had to be established beyond reasonable doubt and, such was the seriousness of the charge, Liverpool's lawyers believe the same weight of evidence was required.

Suarez, Liverpool argue, was found guilty on the kind of subjective evidence which would never have been given credibility in a court of law.

The club believe Patrice Evra's allegations would have been thrown out if pursued by the Crown Prosecution Service and believe the same standards should be applied.

Liverpool are also unhappy that the Independent Regulatory Commission, led by Paul Goulding QC, was selected by the FA, which was itself bringing the charges. They feel this represents a conflict of interest where the accusers are in effect

selecting the jurors. That brings into dispute the notion of full independence.

Although Liverpool were within their rights to challenge the make-up of the commission and made no representation to oppose its members, they say it would have been pointless to do so because the FA would also have picked its replacements. For a commission to be genuinely independent, it is Liverpool's view that the FA should not have jurisdiction on who sits on it.

There are numerous aspects of the 115-page written report which Liverpool continue to find inconsistent with the commission's findings.

Liverpool are unhappy that Evra was granted three meetings with the FA and given access to video evidence well in advance of the December hearing.

It is Liverpool's belief that Evra was coached by the FA disciplinary team before meeting the commission, enabling him to piece together his version of events to tally with the footage and appear more consistent in his verbal evidence than he had been in earlier statements.

Suarez, who did not have access to the same video evidence until he sat in front of the commission, according to Liverpool, inevitably had a sketchier memory of what had happened at particular points of in the game, which had been played two months earlier. This made him seem less sure of what took place at certain moments considered of importance by the commission.

Despite all these concerns, Liverpool still decided not to appeal against the suspension and fine because they felt it would have been an exercise in futility, given that they would have been working within the same procedures. A new panel, appointed by the FA, could have reduced the ban but would have had no power to overturn the verdict."

This is why I believe John Terry will be found innocent of any charges he receives.

Terry has been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence and will stand trial. But for him to be found guilty it needs to be established without reasonable doubt that his actions were racially motivated. I think any lawyer should be able to argue there is reasonable doubt and get him found not guilty.

If/when he is found not guilty the FA cannot possible charge him and find him guilty can they? They will look a higher power than the law courts and so John Terry will not be punished.

It's a shame that Suarez was charged by the FA and not the police really.

It seems that lately Arsenal are looking at every player that is mentioned on here. just wondering where they think all this money is coming from because with all the players they are tracking prices put together it must sum up to around 70-80million {Ed002's Note - There is a big difference between scouting players and buying them.}

Is it not the other way round?

lets be honest, is there a difference between carroll, downing with ngog and j.cole..... henderson, atleast he's young and has some pace.

Andy is only 22 think some people need to start to remember that! let him play friday he will get a couple of goal boost his confidence and he will be flying!

Joe cole was better than downing

To be honest i think everyone on this site with nothing but complaints need to get a grip, how our club has built a reputation of having some of the greatest most loyal fans in the world is beyond me the way some of you are acting!
Yes it's frustrating Andy Carroll isn't netting a goal a game and Stuart Downing isn't beating the first man with his delivery but do you seriously think your constant moaning is going to light the spark for them? As fans we should be getting behind these lads, this is our first full season of Kenny's assignment with a squad what is slowly but surely learning its not going to happen over night.
And as for the minority that are slagging of Kenny a Liverpool legend and our third most successful manager you have serious issues! As much as we look at him as a god as many of us do we must remember he is only human all of us make mistakes and in a industry as complex as football it's easily done.

Get behind our team and have a little faith with Kenny and our new owners we will have success at this club sooner rather than later.

Hi eds, it has been mentioned a few times that Suarez could potentially be sold. Do you know how this has surfaced especially as the club has continued to support him even after the ban was announced and do you think the club would risk selling him and facing a backlash from the fans?

Ta {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

The only place i've heard that "rumour" is from this website, it's total nonsense.

Hi (EDs) I have no idea who we will sign in this window and would not be that surprised if we don't sign anyone at all.. January, as you know is a very difficult time to acquire any half decent player and decent strikers in particular are almost impossible to buy. for one reason or another no manger wants to loose a good striker at this stage of the season as they have to find a replacement and the further we move on in January. then it just gets tougher in trying to persuade a club to sell prized asset unless stupid money is offered and this is normally the case in January.
I think that if we are intending on keeping Andy Carrol and Louis is prepared to stay then surely we just need somebody to fill in for louis until he completes his ban and to fill in for Andy from time to time. So it might be an idea to sign somebody short term not to dissimilar to the Bellamy situation. Then we can sign some decent striker in the summer.
We have lost a lot of credibility through our poor transfer dealings and suffice to say we are a bit of a laughing stock in this regard. we are struggling to find the net, which is a fact and we could very well be right up there with City if we had taken our chances we are certainly creating loads of chances and if we were not,then that would be more of a worry. Its very frustrating at the moment because we should be higher up the table and deserve to be just can't convert enough chances Why??Is It confidence and some bad luck?How many times have we Hit the woodwork at least twenty times. absolutely astonishing. I am totally convinced we will score a load of goals soon and be right up there pushing city all the way and lets hope it starts next wednesday in the first leg of the carling cup semi final.
I just hope we don't have a repeat of last January. paying way over the odds for someone. It dosen't help the player and probably has done Andy Carrol no favours as he knows it was ridiculous the 35 million we spent on him and maybe he has struggled to carry the burden.
I don't know who is available for a short term contract but I'm sure the scouts, Kenny and Commoli know and this maybe an option as i cant see Liverpool FC right now attracting the right player/players we need to move us on just a bit more

My personal wish for Jan is, that we convince Louis to stay "if" he is considering leaving and we persevere with Andy Carrol.(unless he desperately wants to return to the north east we could very well be the case.)because he can be really good for us. He just needs the right service and He needs to improve on his positional play.

My prediction is, We will buy someone of total
surprise and will not be on anyone's list.

A Chester RED

05 Jan 2012 14:54:50
hey eds

firstly, thanks for answering alot of the questions to the best of your knowledge as you always do.

i know ed002 has mentioned luuk de jong for a while now, and the info that has gone along with it...So what I would like to ask all of the Eds (who are available) based on your knowledge, links, connections, gut feelings, which players do you think we are leaning towards...(i know this doesnt mean, that if you anyone that is to be taken its gospel, and we are going to definetely sign them) im just interested in your own views on this as opposed to all the names you get thrown at you...

Thanks alot guys... {Ed002's Note - Hopeless fishing. Only one of us can answer your question.}

Haha outstanding try

You have to word everything specific with these eds, ive noticed that over the past year, ha..i thought with such careful wording they would have given us something.. {Ed002's Note - It certainly helps. We also like drawings.}

05 Jan 2012 14:44:13
Heya Eds,quick question for ya! Handling of the Suarez situation aside,any ideas if the F.A have any plans for John Terry? I assume if he's found guilty by the C.P.S they would but surely they would look into it anyway? Ive seen the footage and it seems clear he uses rascist language,seems like if the F.A want to keep some consistency they should at least look into it! Any thoughts?
Cheers

Just wanted to say to the eds especially ed002. You guys are great and put up with all kinds of crap. You respond with common sence and humour and always seem to have a neutral point of view on all the subjects discussed especially the Suarez situation. The site is great and you guys are great keep it up and thank you

Aint suarez aloud to play in cup games? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Hey Eds, any news on Dameio. some rumours starting to emerge about us bidding 17 mill for him. {Ed028's Nope!}

ed was just wondering was on the lfc website an cant find out if aurelio is injured still i think he would be a good option for the left wing esp with andy going to be getting a run of games now.
do you no of any news on him.

thanks belfast red adam {Ed028's Note - Not injured, just out of favour}

05 Jan 2012 14:24:48
I like the suggestion on the banter about Nilmar.

Villareal are a shambles and while Rossi would be great his buy out (which is what 30 million?) is too great.

Nilmar is better than De Jong and wouldn't cost as much as Rossi. I think we could score him for 10-15 million. Any idea if there are any enquiries ED or to what he is worth?

Hopefully Kuyt gets a start in what could be his farewell game, Would have thought Feyenoord would want him back to try to get them in the top 3.

05 Jan 2012 14:18:02
hi eds is this just roumrs about the suarez sittuation? or a possibillity, pleas could you explain to me what has been said! i hope its not true {Ed028's Note - Real Madrid are sniffing around, that is all}

Maureen is trying to unsettle Luis. Can't let go that we beat CFC and won CLx5

05 jan 2012 14:17:56
hey ed's , firstly i can't believe that there could be a chance of suarez being sold, i just cant understand it , so my question is if madrid comes in for suarez .. we should simple ask for xabi alonso in exchange for suarez , do you's think it could happen ? {ed028's note - it's a possible scenario, however there is a value indifference}

05 Jan 2012 14:17:31
What do ya reckon we sing this to Andy Carrol?

His arm band proved he was a red carrol, carrol
You'll never walk alone it said, carrol, carrol.
We got the lad from jordy land,
He headers the ball through the keepers hands
Andy carrol, Liverpool's number 9

"his arm band proved he was a red" wtf mate doesn't make sense

Aye, that's right, let's motivate the lad by singing a song we used to do for Torres. I'm sure that'll work.
Nugget.

Redjinal

Im in favour of a song for carroll to spur him on but, jesus not that.

05 Jan 2012 14:09:31
Posted earlier that suarez will not be leaving us! He loves lfc & said how much he now understands what you'll never walk alone means! He can't wait to run out on to the anfield pitch again read his statement fellow lfc fans! Dalglish will buy someone not to replace him as such but to help Carrol up front

05 Jan 2012 13:58:19
According to Steve McMahon Former Liverpool & Eveton player, now ESPNStart pundit has said (in a Live Program which is broadcasted in Asia) that Liverpool won't be signing anyone in January, with all the Money being spent in summer there won't be any new arrivals in January....

Don't know whether this is the Macca we have on here.. but since Mr. McMahon must have good relations with the club we must assume that there must be some truth in this...Whats your view on this ed?

Cheers
{Ed002's Note - We could shut the Liverpool page until the summer then.}

Of course no matter we sign or not, rumors will be there so no need to close the page.. but am feeling bad about his words......we have no guarantee whether
Carroll, Downing will deliver but Kuyt getting old we are almost with noone to score goals...

Or he could be following the club's line and keeping it shtum !
The Real KB

This is the problem with ex-players, i dont think they have a clue what's going on as much as most of the fans... Mark Lawrence said the other day the Bent to Liverpool deal was basically done! Goes to show you... Plain and simple, the club are now air tight, no information is coming out at all and believe me i've tried with all my contacts... Taking a guess, we have a cup game coming tomorrow so something could be done between Saturday and Wednesday before the Man-City game in the Carling Cup... If there's a striker coming to us in January my most likely guess would be Soldado off Valencia, but i'm just guessing... What do you think Eds, who do you feel would be most likely to join our club in this window?

Rocky {Ed002's Note - We really cannot say who is "most" likely. Sorry.}

05 Jan 2012 13:57:31
Ed's - Are Liverpool Football Club 'hypocritical'
over it's handling of the Suarez affair? Penny
for your thoughts please!

I strongly disagree with the statement.
RedAce. {Ed002's Note - "Hypocritical" is probably not the best adjective. "Stupid" would be better.}

05 Jan 2012 13:50:11
There's nothing astonishing about it. Other than how they were ever considered good enough for our club in the first place. Oh... and the sickening amount of money the club parted with to bring them in. {Ed002's Note - Dear Kenny ....}

Yours Sincerely

A.Troll

KT!

Carroll & Downing is s**tt & will never come good but Henderson might come good but still not worth 20M P.. these three signings are & will be the misfortune of Kenny's new project.

Were the Henderson and Downing signings not made due to prem stats wich makes them DC signings not Kenny's, yes kenny confirms if he would like the player but the price is also negotiated by DC.

05 Jan 2012 13:50:06
the fa are idiots and that is final. i hope we beat utd when Suarez returns. its going to be hostile. if something bad happens (for example a riot), then the fa better look at them selves and understand that they started the problem and made it worst. Also i had enough of reading these stupid news papers that talk rubbish about lfc. I hope they choke. YNWA {Ed002's Note - Another interesting well balanced and astutely expressed point of view.}

I believe you are being `trolled` ed2, don`t rise to the bait.

Matty P.

It was Liverpool fc who made it worse. The t shirts, the un wavering support of Suarez.
The club should of supported him until he was found guilty, then disciplined him themselves. Even if it's just for the cameras.
The club look like they are supporting a racist, don't matter if it's true or not.
Suarez was always fighting a losing battle.
Time for him to bite the bullet and say sorry.
The clubs Image is far more important than one players.

MIKEY

So your saying that evra is innocent?. he is a trouble maker and started it all. i said before that us lfc fans are not supporting a racist simple as that.

05 Jan 2012 13:39:41
when are the transfers happening?. we need to sell players and get players before the man city game. otherwise we have no chance against them. i hope Kenny does not get more british flops. we need a striker before the Carling cup game.

No chance against a team who we was dominating a few days ago?

KT!

I know what u mean, but how are we going to beat city if we have players that are not good enough. we played city twice this season and both games we still could not beat them even though they had a man sent off.

05 Jan 2012 13:29:08
Hi all, seen as Luis has an 8 game ban to deal with can we look forward to the fact that John Terry will receive a ban for his comments, or because he is English and England captain he wil escape . What's good for the goose has to be good for the gander.
Ynwa

For me this is why chelsea are in for Cahill, to replace JT. He's essentially past it anyway and he is going to get severely slapped for his comments. JT will be sold
next summer IMO.

Hi Eds, i posted a question earlier in the week about the status of Craig Bellamy, and it never got posted. I am really interested so I will ask again, is Craig Bellamy at LFC on loan from City or did we sign him on a free transfer? My question comes from my browsing of the Liverpool section on the PremierLeague website, and it said that Craig Bellamy was on loan at Liverpool.

Thanks for your help

Gavino {Ed002's Note - This was dealt with. Bellamy joined on a free transfer.}

Red Juggernaut!

{Ed002's Note - Make sure that you copy the owners in so they can see the efforts you are making.}

KernowRed

Is Red Juggernaut Spanish for idiot?

KT!

The white lines will be involved in a racism row next!

Seeing the lighter side today then ed2. Or as it all just about done your head in!!!

{Ed002's Note - We have seen posts about all sorts of similar issues, I have been called a n***** lover by one fan and there are calls to arms being made for the next game with Manchester United. Many, many comments have come from those who have either not read or not understood (e.g. offending Suarez' sister) the report from the independent panel. I am not so sure this is the lighter side.}

Hasn't been helped though Ed. By the coverage by a certain sports news channel. Wheeling people out not exactly Newsnight is it with Just One point of view shown on the subject and one opinion. Which is been turned into a witch hunt of one person

Hi ED's
I was just looking at the list of 50 players who could move in this window. And i came across a Leftwinger by the name of Carlos Luque, 17 year old Argentinan. Of what i could find out he sounds like a wonderfully gifted player. Do you know if we have scouted him.
Thanks Si {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

Blackburn 3 Liverpool 1. January 5th 2011

It is 12-months ago exactly that Liverpool sunk to their lowest point in all the time I have supported them.

It wasn't just the result that day, it was the abject display and lack of heart or fight by the players and lack of any leadership by our then manager. We were outplayed and comprehensively beaten by Blackburn, our ninth defeat in twenty league games. It left us 4 points off the bottom three.

"Hodgson looked on crestfallen from the sidelines, with his hands planted in his coat pockets and that was a mood echoed by his players' body language on the pitch."

Thankfully this proved to be the beginning of the end of Roy Hodgson, a few days later Roy was gone.

A lot of rumours of Bent, Luuk De Jong and some about Hoilett but most Eds seem to believe we have no interest in Bent, Twente have said De Jong is not for sale so do any eds know any potential bids coming up or any major interest in players. Great site visited it everyday since last January {Ed002's Note - WE do not know when bids will be made, sorry. Are LFC Players obliged to be Members of the PFA? Their stance towards Liverpool (generally - remember their stance on Fowler!?) and Suarez (over Evra) has been lamentable! I would hope LFC Players would publicly (and loudly) resign membership in protest!!

Funniest union in the world!! Smallest number of members of any union in Britain. highest paid union official in Britain. A div 2 player pays same contributions as Wayne Rooney will. Then to top it off if You have "SKY" you pay for the union with the Millions the premier league give them out of the tv money!! The Luddites would be proud? Red Nev one of the reps

Guys it would be great to say let's spen a fortune and buy the best players in the worls but lets be realistic, we don;t have champ league football yet and the next step is getting it. I think small affordable improvements can do this. get off Downings case as well, he's a good player just struggling for form. it's not like hes giving the ball away all the time, get behinf him!

Given our funds etc we should be looking at:
Shaun Wright-Philips and Matt Jarvis wingers can play either side to replace Dirk Kuuyt who should either be allowed to play in his natural position up-front or be allowed to leave the club.

Tiote from Newcastle to cover for injured lucas (the boys got quality)

Up front- I'd take Clint Dempsey, Oscar Cordoza, get Crouchy back

Shaun wright-Phillips couldn't cut it at Chelsea or man city and can't get in the England squad you must be drunk or don't like Liverpool at all

05 Jan 2012 11:55:22
I hope the F.A. take a long hard look at themselves after we play the mancs, because they will have blood on there hands as there will be serious serious trouble before during and after that game. It doesn't matter who said what when and why what does matter is how the F.A. have handelled this case and stench of injustice that has gone with it. I hope they will be happy when the see the images of people hurt and injured after the game!!

Waro {Ed001's Note - let's just hope you are wrong, it is just a game of football at the end of the day. People need to grow up a bit and remember that.}

Hopefully Ed but I think it's as certain as a biased trumped charge by the f.a sorry couldn't resist

Waro {Ed002's Note - I am surprised that the original entirely irresponsible message had been posted, but I will say that the repercusions for any club that has fans planning or becoming involved in such matters of violence as you suggest will certainly be devastating, and may well also have serious consequences across international competion for the club as well. I would have thought that the owners would take immediate action if this sort of scenario was made known to them now.}

A post in really poor taste , the only 'action' LFC fans wnat to see when Luis Suarez returns is on the pitch .

It is only on the field of play that LFC are going to fight for Luis Suarez & each other .

Qwerty

What a completely ridiculous post Waro. I know many Man Utd fans & absolutely none of them are thinking like that. This was an issue between 2 highly paid sportsmen & the authorities that govern. On the contrary, there has even been lighthearted banter between fans (albeit some in poor taste) but to suggest your average Joe on the street is gonna take to arms because of this is fantasy. It was an unfortunate sequence of events for both clubs but I will not be holding the ordinary man just 30 miles down the road responsible. As Ed001 says 'Grow up!'

Nothing was "unfortunate" for MUFC. Their player is still on the pitch (although playing really carp) hehe

Rome was not built overnight.. but am sure when the people building the Rome discovered 2/3 misplaced stones.. they 'll try to correct it they don't leave it...saying it 'll be Ok when the other stones come in place...instead they removed the stone & replaced it.......

Our Rome is in the building process but we have one huge misplaced stone & we need to remove it soooon other wise it'll damage the whole structure....

Also the King is on Holiday after many Fame and prosperous years & lots of achievements... while the King is away The Dark Night has taken over the Kingdom & he is ruling with an iron fist.. but it won't be too long before the King arrives with full force to reclaim his throne....

Soldado looks like quality. Let's break the bank for him.

Play him as a no9 and Suarez behind as a no10. I still think Carroll has years at Anfield to develop and will be ace once he cuts his hair and gets his confidence back.

Macca good to know we're likely to re-develop Anfield.

Maybe a shave would help him score goals?

Agree, lets give Dalglish his
number 7 shirt back

he might be 60 but I bet he can
at least cross the ball

Hopefully its Luuk De Jong in a matter of days.

Would be stoked if we landed Nilmar. He would be wanting to jump the sinking ship that is Villareal and wouldnt cost as much as Rossi.

When building Rome, Cesar did not spend all the money in the empire on concrete that proved to be rubbish and that was left at the side of the road. You dont build an Empire with Adam, Carroll, Hendo or Downing. Two wasted transfer windows.

What the flip are you on about mate??

Is there some kind of G**gle bullspit translator I can use to decipher this?

Dalglish always acts selflessly
only in the best common interest of
Liverpool football club.

He was the noblest Roman of them all. All the conspirators, save only he,
Did that they did in envy of Caesar;
He only, in a general honest thought
And common good to all,
made one of them.
His life was gentle,
and the elements So mixd in him
that Nature might stand up
And say to all the world,
This was a man!

Somehow, I think that the next Liverpool / Man Utd match is gonna be a little bit tasty. On and off the pitch.
I wonder if Evra & Suarez will both play, cos the way things are shaping up it seems like it's all gonna kick off.
The Real KB

I wonder whether Evra will be marking Suarez at corners and if so, how many camera's will be on them?

JRG

Was watching sky sports this morning and some mug from the papers has said all us liverpool fans have become bitter and entrenched over the saurez saga i can imagine the atmosphere will be red hot would love to get a ticket to the next few games between us and them

Just confirming ..last 2 of my post have not reached the page..is it that you not receiving them ? {Ed002's Note - If you signed them then I could perhaps tell. Or perhaps you could tell us what they contained.}

Hi Ed, Not signed them but they had fairly simple things ..like Players to buy and positive thinking.. {Ed002's Note - Have you looked on the Teams page if you put lists of players or whatever - and it is way easy to sign posts.}

The Guardian are against us as well -

Kick It Out chairman Lord Ouseley has branded Liverpool as "hypocritical" over their handling of Luis Suarez's eight-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra and called the striker's apology "lamentable".

The Reds have decided not to appeal against the Football Association suspension and £40,000 fine imposed on the Uruguay forward by an independent commission for his comments towards Evra in Liverpool's Premier League match against Manchester United at Anfield on October 15.

Ouseley described Liverpool players wearing T-shirts in support of Suarez as "dreadful" and said the club need to take a hard look at themselves.

Suarez's apology stated: "I admitted to the commission that I said a word in Spanish once and only once. I told the panel members that I will not use it again on a football pitch in England. I never, ever used this word in a derogatory way and if it offends anyhone then I want to apologise for that."

Suarez did not mention Evra by name in his apology, and previously said in a statement on Tuesday he would carry out the suspension "with the resignation of someone who hasn't done anything wrong" claiming the word 'negro' is a commonly-used word which does not show any lack of respect in his country.

Lord Ouseley, who was chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality from 1993 to 2000, wrote in the Guardian: "Liverpool FC need to take a hard look at themselves and how they have responded to the complaint and the investigations into the allegations of abuse in the Patrice Evra/Luis Suarez case.

"Throughout the entirety of the proceedings, over the past three months, all we have heard are denials and denigration of Evra.

"Liverpool players wore a T-shirt saying: 'We support Luis Suarez', seemingly whatever the outcome. This was a dreadful knee-jerk reaction because it stirs things up."

Knib - get your nose out of club

I dont get the response to this post it dont make no sense what so ever
ginlet

'House of Lords' yup, never a hypocritical passed in that chamber.

dd

What I find hypocritical is that all these anti - racial people are coming out criticising Liverpool whilst not mentioning Evra's racial comment to Saurez which kicked it all off. The one-sidedness of this case makes me sick. {Ed002's Note - The charges were against Suarez and not Evra. Suarez was found guilty and Evra was not on trial. It is not that hard to understand. Evra's admissions were not know when the charges were placed and whilst it is clear that charges should be considered, it is an entirely separate matter.}

@ Ed002 - Could Suarez bring a case against Evra then?

KernowRed {Ed002's Note - For what? It is done - there will not be any further court cases. It really is time to move on and get back to the football.}

I didn't mean he should, was just asking if he could. Sorry.

KernowRed {Ed002's Note - Sorry, the answer is no then.}

Morning Ed's,
The De Jong situation looks the most likely to happen at the moment, which I believe is the correct way to go, young player with great talent just what we need. But do you believe that Liverpool should now look to bolster our wide positions, in fairness Downing is not looking the Price we paid for him, so maybe an option of Nathan Dyer of Swansea may be a good deal he has prooven he is Premier League standard, and wouldn't be an over priced player. Also there will be no Darren Bent now, if there was any truth in it then he will sign on Deadline Day. A reply would be appreciated.

Cheers
Pete The Red Hearted Soul {Ed002's Note - I think it has always been envisaged that a right sided forward would be required to replace the role Kuyt is playing. I think there is a good chance Kuyt will leave in the summer so the club will be looking now. Note that there are also youngsters coming through but I very much doubt David Amoo will be considered. I rather think his time has come this season.}

Ed002,
Would you care to elaborate when you say you think Amoo's time has come? Time to move on?

Redjinal {Ed002's Note - He is coming up to 21, he has never had a game for Liverpool, his contract runs out in the summer and he will be released.}

why are we selling kuyt?? {Ed002's Note - Eventually time comes for a player to move on and the next generation to come in. It is no more than that.}

Sad to say he,s losing some pace - remember last game? - love the lad, had my picture took with him only a week before xmas, but its time to move on

Pot calling the kettle black, evra using racist profanities against chelsea players. 0 game ban.
i guess this is what the FA call a creditable witness. egg on their face.
Video showing Patrice Evra using n-word against Chelsea players Frank Lampard & Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4_fQXwIV4E&t=35m30s

"We found Mr Evra to be an impressive witness. He gave his evidence to us in a calm, composed and clear manner............."

"..........the Commission asked Mr Evra why, then, did he not tell the referee that he had been called n****r, as opposed to black. Mr Evra's answer was that even when he pronounced the word "n*****s, it was not a word he liked to use"

I remember youtube having the video of Stevie G, a compilation of some of his best goals, with english commentary. I had it in my laptop but I re-did my Windows yesterday and I think I've lost it. i tried searching it on youtube and I can't seem to find it there. have they removed it, or what? I need that video, I really do. I'm only 21 and I'd kept it for my children to watch. Gerrard wouldn't be on the pitch then but my children must know who he was, the best ever to wear my Club's Jersey. Someone help me, please.

can anybody please tell Suarez when he tackles never go and excuse or pat the player. All started this way. I saw suarez many times going to shake hand with defenders but they push him away. Ref dont see it. This action make Suarez more violent. if he want to play just be arrogant to like balotelli with def and pplay your football. Show no compassion. Either they can stop you or cant. Please dont bow in front of them just to receive a kick which obviously make you angry.

05 Jan 2012 09:17:04
Really hoping that we don't sign Darren Bent. We have enough english "talent" on our books to fill a league 1 side. Unfortunately it probably will happen so let's get excited people. Hey if that falls through maybe we could go for Steve Morison from Norwich? He's scored like seven times. Surely we're interested in Danny Graham aswell. Good times, good times.

Seriously though, why aren't we coming out and just saying we are looking to push for fourth and are going to sign a world class striker? It's like KK has accepted that we can't attract proper class anymore so why even try. I understand it may not be as clear cut as that but when Redknapp says tottenham are going places in the next few seasons you believe him because he makes quality signings. We keep opting for average players with "potential" to make the jump to a higher standard. Ah well, YNWA

OZredSA

You're absolutely clueless mate. Another know-all fan who knows better than the King - in reality you're clearly spoon-fed all your football "knowledge" through the propoganda vehicle that is Sky, as evident in your unexplainable love for Arry and his eccentric cockney accent, hanging out his car window, giving his pals the low-down on transfers. If you could expand your view beyond that of the Murdoch machine, you would be aware of the fact that any manager worth his salt cannot go out singing from the rooftops about the players he's going to sign and certainly the club wouldn't release a statement (I actually laughed at that part) to make the press aware of our intent to purchase a "world class striker" - we'd look like idiots.

Martin

05 Jan 2012 08:59:01
Hi all

Have I missed something? Why is Glen Johnson available for transfer? I thought he was pretty settled.

Anyway, Darren Bent would be a backward step. He is "proven" in the premier league, but he is not going to set the world alight.

Laxster

Reading some of these posts, I cannot believe these so called 'fans' arguing and bickering amongst themselves, calling each other names, saying this player cost too much, this player is rubbish, the manager should be sacked the owners need to spend some money or get out etc etc.

It really is depressing.

I think I might steer clear of the United page for a few days and stick to this one.

JRG

Nice one.

05 Jan 2012 08:29:04
we need to get some players in early in januari to make top 4.
we need a extra striker and winger.
downing is a good player playing with no confidance.what i dont understand is that he attacks the fullbacks and then stops,he needs to keep doing that and it doesnt matter if he loses the ball he wont loose it everytime.
adam for me is just not good enough,his position is such a important 1 we need a class player there.
the back id solid and playing well.
1 winger and striker required this window.
we can make the top 4 easy,adress the attack and we will be there.
KK has made us play some real good football,we are showing our teeth but were not biting.

05 Jan 2012 08:18:08
Apparently it is now the fans fault that the Suarez carp has dragged on by us diminishing the club led by our "dodgy" manager
Knew we would somehow get blamed
What is it with Suarez has to apologise directly to evra when he has already given an apology.Joke.
Bad feelings that the fa have driven him out if English football or will drive him out?
Bean {Ed002's Note - There has been no apology and it is time to close this matter. It is done.}

05 Jan 2012 08:02:48
Hi Ed,

will anything happen to Evra regarding the abuse he gave to Suarez (forgot the word that starts with S)

I.e. have they decided not to charge him or do Liverpool have to make an official complaint first?

thanks,

redkenyan {Ed002's Note - Nothing will happen now and Liverpool are not in a position to complain. Just accept it and move on.}

Media is not letting anyone move on john terry not getting the same attension maybe its a rasism case in its self picking on the foreigner

red devil {Ed002's Note - You are an idiot.}

Just accept what you see as an injustice and move on ed002? Thats not the Berkeley way is it!

The FA are too biased to give an honest opinion - it's all politics, poppies and xenophobia building (sorry, did I say that.... I meant 'national pride building' with them). As such, any appeal is already doomed to fail - which shows just how ridiculous and farcical that any idea of FA 'authority' or 'legitimacy' actually is.

I'd love to see bookmakers odds on the chance of a succesful appeal.

They're not stupid.

The Suarez example informs societies drones that Johnny foreigner is indeed a savage, as was always feared. In turn these people will vote for/support Cameron's continuing campaign against ethnic minorities in the UK, who are corrupting and destroying their great nation - safe in the knowledge that they hold themselves to a 'higher standard'.

'He might get away with that in Uruguay' eh.

But the FA didn't seem to mind covering up for Johnny Englander's plainly spoken, good old fashioned English racism - by none other than the 'born leader' of England, John Terry - who was only charged due to a fan's complaint to the police, whilst the FA went all 'law and order' in their efforts to construct a diversion and a case against Suarez, although the evidence of Terry's guilt was clearly more concrete. There was nothing lost in translation. He was just racially abusing Ferdinand.

And seemingly they all bought it.

Some of 'Dave' Camerons comments during the London riots! Now THOSE were racist - and dangerous too.

Just accept it and move on though eh?

One hand feeds the other, Monkey see - Monkey do etc. Eh? Sounds like a bit of a police state complex you have there ed002........

BJH YNWA. {Ed002's Note - This is just crass. Why do you harp on about the FA when it was an independent panel that found Suarez guilty and issued his punishment. As for Terry, I cannot understand the difficulty you are having in grasping it is a separate matter. How have the FA covered anything up with Terry? He has been charged with a public order offence by the police and will no doubt subsequently be charged by the FA. You have to have misunderstood a great deal if you truly think that the FA charging Suarez was to divert attention away from Terry. If you want someone to start abusing who might care more than me, then surely it should be much closer to home and take your shots at the board who have clearly let you down by not lodging an appeal. You should dust down the old "Yonks Out" flag and start the Facebook and Twitter appeals. Because if you don't move on from this, where next? Protests at the Manchester United game? Violence at the game as some are suggesting?}

Source BBC website

Speaking after the 3-0 defeat by Manchester City, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish says he won't be looking to buy a replacement for Luis Suarez after the club decided not to appeal against the striker's eight-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra.

We are looking at buying another striker - at least - Not replacing Luis - so what he said was correct - it doesnt mean however that he wont be buying a new striker, which he obviously will ..

Team to play Oldham

Doni

Kelly Carragher Coates Aurelio

Maxi Spearing Shelvey Bellamy

Kuyt Carroll

Subs: Hansen, Flanagan, Robinson, Suso, Sterling, Coady, Eccleston

Thought Aurelio was injured (just for a change) more change of flannagan playing at left back. Also think Gerrard will get a run out for more match fitness

No way Bellamy will be playing.

Replace Bellamy for Downing and you're probably right

Bent will not be signing, De Jong may but other teams are interested so nothing is certain.

realy hope we do not sign luke de jong,this is like ola taivonen and van wolfswinkle all over again and lets face it they turned out to be pretty average.its not too hard to get goals in the dutch league.lets be honest if this guy was offered to every team in the EPL the likes of city,united arsenal chelsea spurs wouldnt even look twice at it and he would end up somewhere like villa r fulham so if we want to be a champs league team why should we settle for this standard of player.

Good evening Ed's

A few questions for you, if I may.

1. What really happened with Robbie Keane? If you can't give exact details any chance you could point us in the right direction (drugs, attitude, drinking, fighting, etc).

2. Is it true about the contract stipulation that GJ has to play RB if fit, or has someone posted it once and everyone has jumped on the back of it. Surely no-one could be stupid enough to guarantee any player a starting position.

Cheers

Tommy Walsh {Ed001's Note - 1. I can't say any more than I have said for legal reasons. We really can't give any more hints or risk court action.
2. Rafa had to find a way to persuade him to join, the then right back, Arbeloa, was desperate to return to Spain, he had already been persuaded to stay a year longer than he wanted, so Rafa had to get a right back. Johnson was in a strong position, with a number of other clubs making offers for him, so he managed to get a contract that seems ludicrous in retrospect. I am told that included clauses regarding on pitch appearances while fit. To be honest, this is quite a common contractual clause on the continent.}

So want to say something but damn it I can't!
Can I just say Boobies?!

Sorry I had no idea about any Robbie Keane stuff.

maka YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - that's ok, the press were happy to pin the blame all squarely on Rafa's shoulders because of 'Arry.}

Ooooh not darling of the press, tax dodging, brown evelope, betting ring,dodgy earnings off player sales but its alright cos im a cockney n my mates in the press are cockney's but im a nice guy rent a manager for a sound bite because im on a p.r campain for the England job even though i leave every club in ruin when i leave. Say no more.

KNEE JERK

Sniff sniff

I keep saying it ed001, but you keep avoiding me. If Johnson has a clause that says he must play at RB - then explain why he played at LB for much of last season (a position he has even less experience in than RM).

BJH YNWA (it's nonsense ed. nonsense. As you say to everyone..... PROOF!)

ps. keep up the good work. Looking forward to a signing or two. {Ed001's Note - I keep explaining why over and over, but obviously you are not bothering to read back. He was asked to fill in at left back because we had no left back and he was not worried about his England right back berth ahead of the European Championships then. So he was willing to play left back. But note that he still played EVERY game when fit.}

After reading just about everything I can about the Suarez/Evra case, I have come to the conclusion that Suarez should never have used the word negro and should make an apology for it.I dont care who said this or that or in what context. If it was ignorance on his part he should man up and least say he is sorry for saying it. I am a big fan of his and I think he is one the best players around these days, and by no means am I condemning him and far from saying we should sell him he is human and we all make mistakes but we have the ability to aknowledge it and learn from it wich I think he should do I know I would try. When you move to a different country imo you should try your best to respect that countrys culture and values.
He plays football in England not South America or Spain , somebody at Liverpool FC. should have told him this from the start when he got charged and should continue to do so to till he does make an apology. YNWA.

ChinUp

I agree to a point mate as it may help how other team's fans treat him in the future & it may help the race he may have offended come to forgive him for his stupidity or ignorance but it's probably too late now & to be honest he clearly feels he did nothing wrong in his own mind so he doesn't see the need!
But i definitely see your point in the main.
It has left a sour taste i must be honest.
Irish Kev.

All done and dusted

Yeah a bit of wishful thinking on my part. Since Kenny took over I somehow had this boyhood nostalgia back and all that wich you lose a bit especially after playing a sport. Was a promising youth at one point got badly injured and all that promise went to my head got a lengthier ban than Suarez in the end :) Cant imagine how the pressure is at the level of EPL, shouldnt be surprised anymore that things get this unhinged with so much at stake. But maybe being naive is good for me every now and then. I get alot more excited I think.

ChinUp

Negro only means black nothing more, i lived in spain for 10years and it was common to hear it, if u read it u will also notice evra lied as well so why should he say sorry i would not

I am fully aware of that negro means black but he said it to an opposition player on football pitch in England. I dont care if Evra is full of it. Maybe my mind will change if I hear the full story from Liverpool as they say that not half of the story was in the report. If he called him sudaca like I have read before but that was not in the report but if that is true he doesnt have to apologise in imo

Hi ED's.
Great work everyone, I love the site.

I have a question, do LFC have scouts based in Africa?.
Africa has a population in excess of 700million, and football is by far the most popular sport on the continent.
The possibility of discovering new and exciting youngsters (for the Academy), would be in all probability be very good.
I am aware that Ajax are involved here in Cape Town, and Spurs are also actively involved.
Many of the African players end up in France, and are developed by clubs there.
One would also note that many players from South America are drafted by Spanish teams (mainly).
Do you think that language is a major barrier, that said many African countries are English speaking (previous colonies!), by the same token do LFC have scouts in the USA (English speaking mainly).
It just appears that many English clubs are missing a opportunity to unearth new talent, but end up relying on developed talent from so called "feeder clubs" and often end up paying massively for this opportunity.
Your thoughts.
Regards Shankly's Red Army. {Ed001's Note - we are currently busy developing our scouting network in Asia and the Americas, I do believe that Africa will be next though. At the moment, we still rely on freelancers bringing players to our attention from Africa, as far as I am aware.}

Hi ED 001.
Many thanks for the response, I do appreciate it.
It is good to hear that Africa is not being overlooked by LFC, as there are soo many gifted players who would relish the opportunity to play for LFC.
One thinks of some of the great players who are from W Africa, now playing at clubs in Europe and further afield.
Not only is the continent a source of new players,but also new supporters.
Arsenal have done well in this regard, and as a whole are well supported here in Africa, no doubt due to the number of players who have played for the club over the years, being from Africa originally.
With the scarcity of top players (strikers etc) in Europe and the massively inflated transfer costs, it makes sense to source new talent from other locations.
Furthermore different players add variety and complexity to any team (a X factor if you will).
Only problem with freelances would be that they may represent a few clubs, and thus may have their own favourites.
It struck me, when thinking about this, how teams during the transfer windows, end up paying hugely inflated fees for "home grown talent", some of whom (let's face it) do not warrant or justify said transfer costs.
I look forward to the day that a African player becomes a legend at LFC, I know the club have had a few African players in years gone by, but none have risen to true 'superstar status'.
Thanks again, regards Shankly's Red Army. {Ed001's Note - I am sure it will happen, but I would expect a bunch of Liverpool 'soccer schools' to start appearing over Africa in years to come. That seems to be the plan from what I can gather, worldwide schools using the club's name and giving us first dibs on any player to be produced there.}

Can't see us playing 4 players at left back, they'll be tripping over each other kiddo!

Reina
Kelly Carra Coates Enrique
Maxi Spearing Adam Downing
Kuyt Carroll

is what I reckon we'll play

WOuld love to see some youngsters having a chance in this game. Hope, we'll do great in the coming weeks. YNWA

Teams Please

Reina
Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique
Lucas
Suarez Gerrard De Jong
Soldado Carroll

Nice Attacking Team.

Obviously we'll have Bellamy, Hendo, Maxi, Adam, Downing etc on the bench.

Would also Love A.Johnson from city so lets hope they get a replacement.

Heres Dreaming

Reina
Johnson Agger Skrtel Enrique
Lucas Adam
Downing Gerrard Bellamy
De Jong

05 Jan 2012 01:54:33
In "preparation" for tues for Citey, would totally rest Bellamy and give Gerrard an hour or so. Carroll can get more playing time ( hopefully score.... ) n also downing n Adam ( for more 'confidence'). Would give youngsters... Shelvey n a few others a game, whilst resting key players... Enrique, agger, skertel...

Redish

City is on Wednesday...we've got 4 days between games so plenty of time to recover. I think we'll play a pretty strong line up. I'd definitely like to see Shelvey play though

05 Jan 2012 01:46:12
Ed,given our lackve goals/creativity,last third.do you feel a young forward and midfielder/ or wide player may get a chance in Fridays game,at some point? {Ed001's Note - more than likely, I would expect a few fringe players to get a run out.}

05 Jan 2012 01:26:32
Kenny is putting the boots back on to assist with the goal scoring problem, he will partner Carroll up front as he loves the big man.. Rushy may make a come back in the Summer.

This is more likely to happen than Hazard, everyone stop asking! We wont be spending more than 30mil on anyone else until we are in the champions league!

My personal take on the whole Evra/Suarez situation is that there was an accusation made by Evra. Suarez has admitted using a word on one occasion which has been considered to racist. He should only be punished for this one occasion. There is no visual, audio or witness evidence for any other reference to Evra's colour. All other testimonies are from people repeating what they heard from others. This whole process could have been handled far better by all organisations involved.

However. the decision made by the club not to appeal Suarez's ban is the right one and the club's statement was well considered and the statement made by Luis seemed honest and genuine. I hope the enforced break gives him the break he needs and he returns next month to entertain us all and help our push for a CL spot.

I have followed Liverpool for over 30 years and my hero as a boy was Kenny Dalglish. He was an exceptional player and was a great manager. In our darkest hour twenty years ago he proved himself to be a great man and leader. Legend is an over used word in football but Kenny is a true footballing legend and in addition to this he is a legend of a man with real integrity.

Like everyone else I have seen Kenny during recent interviews and I can see he is uneasy but is unable to elaborate. I trust his judgement in this matter implicitly. It is time to get back to footballing matters.

Crazy Horse

Excellent Crazy Horse. Well put.

Alot of talk of Suarez leaving. Doesn't make sense from a fans perspective, but from players perspective it does (Suarez will not be looked fondly upon in premier league from now on) as well as owners' perspective (don't want to be associated with racism issue, proven or unproven). I really hate the thought of Suarez leaving, but honestly, who out there would be surprised if you woke up to headline of LFC webpage "Suarez requests transfer". Surely the article would have a cameo from Kenny stating that its probably what's best for "the wee man and his family" and "LFC thank him and wish him luck" etc.....

I know most of you will disagree, and I really hope this isn't the case, but it is a very realistic possibility. I think the owners will choose what's best for business, and I'm not sure if that's having a player who was banned for racist slurs (not to mention history of 'the finger' and biting another player).

Red 89

Suarez will not be leaving in Jan.

KNEE JERK

Suarez will only have to put up with it for rest of the season... Next season all will be forgotten except when playing Man Utd...

Its a BS if anyone saying LS leaving!
jst wait for his encounter against spams!
he will be all over them with a hattrick and again loved by all other teams and managers

Editors and fellow posters,

I have decided that i am to become nocturnal, and troll this site every night!

By day, I'm just an average 17 year old college student, by night, i am "YNWA! (Adam)"

This site could keep me up all night. In the mean time, i'll run on pro plus and red bull!

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed001's Note - argh! That will mean I have to stay up editing all night!!}

Oh how I'd love to be a student again!
Where did the time go?
And where did my hair & vision go with it?
What you studying in college Adam mate?
Haven't spoken to ya in a bit, hope you're keeping good?!
Irish Kev. {Ed001's Note - being a student, he will no doubt be studying cheap booze and easy women ........ or is it easy booze and cheap women?}

Whatever way ya put it Ed, it still sounds good to me.
Jesus, i remember the good times going into clubs, getting pi$$ed on two pints, getting into fights with four and a half foot midgets, puking all over the ladies toilets, taking the fattest & most flat chested girl home for a minute of steamy passion, nothing much has changed there then thankfully lol!
Irish Kev. {Ed001's Note - I was never lucky enough to be a student, was far too busy getting drunk and chasing loose women.....}

Haha, its great fun Irish Kev ;) your welcome to come and dance in the corner pretending to be our age again. I could even get you involved in a little game of the ring of fire! Fun times... An lol Ed001, isn't getting drunk and chasing loose women the same as being a student? haha

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed001's Note - I missed my calling in life then, I should have been a student.}

Hiya Guys,

Does it annoy you that you're having a good season (for you) but are 6th in the league? I don't mean it in a funny way, but i come on you're page quite a bit, because it is the most popular one on this website and you are funny guys. But i see loads of posts where you are really happy and positive with your performances. But at the moment, United are playing quite poor (for them), City, even though they are first in the league, are under performing when you look at the squad they have, we (Chelsea) are having an awful season for us, albeit we are in a big transition period. Spurs are not as big a club as you but are 8 points ahead with a game in hand, and Arsenal are roughly where they should be when you look at their squad. All i'm saying is, after reading a lot of posts, i'm surprised at how happy and content you are to be in this position. For example, 4th will be a success for you, whereas for Chelsea it is the minimum we expect and a dissapointment. You've got to admit that that can not make you happy? You're Liverpool for God sake, no matter how much any one will hate to admit it, you ARE a massive world wide club with some of the most passionate fans around, i think you should have higher expectations and standards. For example, the Luis Suarez incident, its been mentioned far too much so i won't drag it out. But, the way the club wore the t-shirts so soon and released that statement so soon afterwards seemed a bit much for me. Suarez is not your saviour. He is not the be all and end all. After all the legends you have had, all the trophies you have won, all the records you have set, all the admiration you have got from other fans from the way you stuck together over Hillsborough. I just think for a club of your size, you should be packing Suarez's bags for him and waving goodbye. For one player to jeopardize all that admiration towards your club, and for the club to stick by him so strongly, and for the fans to defend him so strongly baffles me. The saying is 'no player is bigger than the club', but this stands even stronger when it comes to Liverpool because of their size. I just feel at the moment it seems like you are settling by accepting 4th as a success and by defending Suarez so strongly and making excuses for him.

I didn't mean the post to be brunt or anything, i just wrote it as straight forward as i could.

OsgoodisKing

Osgood... A very passive text compiled there. If I were a cynic, :-), I'd sense the patronizing undertone, at best it is rather pragmatic of you. Funny thing pragmatism, could also be considered short sighted.

Seems a trait of the chelsea fan. Hey ed2?
All the best.

D-Day(1892)

All i will say is 4th will be a success as it means we beat teams who had the pick of players in the summer due to Champs Lg football (except Spurs).
If we can knock Chelsea / Arsenal out of top 4 then it will have been an incredible come back.
Last season we were in the relegation zone for a while & it looked for a while like we may actually be in a fight for survival.
So to turn all that around in just 12 - 18 months would just be fantastic.
With regards to Suarez, the fans at Liverpool always back their own & likewise for the club.
It's one of many reasons that sets us apart from any other club.
The YNWA is not just a saying, we do actually mean it.
Suarez made a big mistake it seems, but we all make stupid stupid mistakes, some bigger than others.
He'll learn eventually hopefully.
I'd be more concerned with John Terry's situation if i were you though mate.
Now he is a man on a dark path in my opinion.
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

Family stick up for one an other .This is why we are so positive we don't have a rich uncle to bye us all the toys in the shop so we make do with what we got.

You seem to of lost my attention somewhere around the beginning of you drivel. Forgive me you see, I am somewhat a stickler for things making sense.

LFC4LIFE

We are in transition also mate, this takes time and patience is required. While also we recognise the progress we are making, our club is being rebuilt top to bottom. We have changed our style of football, which is a pleasure to watch, and a manager the players want to play for, and that the fans love and respect, this is progress! In respect to the league our goal was at start of the season was CL and maybe a cup. Given we are there abouts regarding a CL spot, with everyone dropping points here and there nothing is a fore gone conclusion.

Re Suarez, the issue for me has been dealt with, Kenny & co maybe privvy to more facts than us. So i hold my judgement on if he stays or goes, tbh either way im fine with. Our reputation is still intact, and we will move forward, i dont support players i support my club, my badge. All the best.

Anyone else hear what Robbie Keane had to say about the end of his short spell at Liverpool on tv last week?
Rafa didn't come out of it looking very good / fair from that interview anyway.
It also probably showed just why players like Xabi & Benayoun left in the main, maybe Hyypia too.
Anyone who missed the Keane interview & wants to know what Rafa did, just ask & i'll happily fill you in!
It was fairly ridiculous but i was not very surprised in many ways with Rafa having read between the lines with what some players revealed about his behaviour.
While i won't knock Rafa too much as he did reasonably well for us on the whole, i must say he cleary had a slightly crazy side to him & certainly wasn't a players best friend at times.
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

Did Robbie Keane happen to mention his own indiscretions during said interview, or did he just blame Rafa?

dmedly

''maybe Hypia too'' ffs , what are you basing that on? nothing.

I know all about them too dmedly but Rafa did him an injustice no doubt about it!
Keane scored 5 goals in 8 games but got benched due to Rafa's ego & then sold as a video man Rafa hired told Keane he was making the wrong runs, yes i said a video man!
This video man never kicked a ball in his life but yet Rafa gave him the power to tell experienced international footballers they were basically playing rubbish.
Keane's issues you are hinting at are blocked by law so can't even go there mate.
Ask Xabi in a few years what happened & i'd say he'll tell us something along the same lines.
Remember when we beat Utd 4 - 1 with Sami in the team, he was instantly dropped after that match & hardly featured for the rest of the season.
Why i ask considering Hyypia was class?
Rafa's ego?
Who knows?!
But probably yes.
Irish Kev. {Ed001's Note - Keane was dropped for disciplinary reasons, any bull he is talking about video men is simply that mate. Another spoilt little brat who can't take the consequences of his actions, that is all that Keane is.}

I disagree Irish Kev. He made one big player mistake. That was Xabi. Rafa builds machines, (see Valencia) like we were in. 2009. The players are cogs for him. He also improved practically everyone of our players. Even the mighty Stevie G. Yes, he lacks the personal touch (or dare I say, the media prostitution of a Harry Redknapp). But remember our days towards the end of Houllier, and think about the high expectations we have for our club again these days. I mean, we expect to be in the champions league, we expect title challenges. Roy was a farce. But the man who reinstalled the pride was Rada. We were feared, best team in Europr, Barca, Milan, Real, Chelsea all if them. They had top managers, ask them what it was like to play against a Rafa team. He was undone by a very shoddy board and and bad decision with Xabi. Xabi was that one almighty cog, even Stevie was secondary to the importance of how that team worked. Xabi was the playmaker, the dictator.

We'll get back there soon. Kenny is the man to galvanise us. Make us formidable. I'd like rafa to return in some capacity. He only needs to learn a few things. Cant see anyone better than the King to teach them.

D-Day (1892)

Sorry dmedly, i did attempt a reply but it wasn't posted due i assume to what you are hinting at.
If you search "Robbie Keane Rafa Video Man critic", i'm sure you'll find what was said somewhere & it's all of the legal variety if ya know what i mean.
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

D-Day, i do see your point absolutely.
I think he made more than one mistake though to be honest.
He never replaced Keane for 2 seasons.
Never replaced Hyypia (unless you consider Kyrgiakos a replacement - i wouldn't), never replaced Alonso as we all agree on probably.
Ed001, i don't know Robbie Keane personally or anything obviously but can you honestly say he was left go just for the issues you hint at mate?
I am of the opinion that he was sold back to Spurs as Rafa wanted to rub Parry's nose in the dirt for buying Keane without his full support when Rafa wanted Villa.
Ask Benayoun why he left on bad terms with Rafa, same for Alonso & possibly Hyypia.
Rafa made some players feel very unloved at times, Alonso even said he felt uncomfortable at the club at times, he may not have used a video man with those particular players but probably froze them out of things etc.
I don't see why Keane would lie about this particular scenario as he could easily be called out on it (which he definitely wouldn't want) if it was false as the interview was on a popular English sports channel so would have been seen by a fair few people who could rubbish the claims if they wanted to.
It'd be a stupid move on his part if you ask me to lie on national tv & i don't think he's quite on Steve Nicol's level just yet.
But this is just my opinion mate.
Irish Kev. {Ed001's Note - Rafa wanted Keane, there was no issue there, the issue was he also wanted Barry. Keane let himself down and should be hiding under a rock somewhere in shame, rather than spouting guff about being hard done by.}

If the rumours are true lol, Keane's "antics" were ( better watch what im saying ) are not a million miles away from what his fellow pro's at a club just down the M62 were said to have done. Was this enough to finsh his Anfield career ot is there more to it?

KNEE JERK

To the nameless asking what i'm basing my Hyypia thing on, it's my opinion lad so what's the problem.
That is it put simply, i could easily be wrong!
Irish Kev.

Irish Kev,

He sold Keane in January if memory serves me correctly. As far as not replacing him, it came at a time when transfers became a big struggle for Rafa due to the board deficiencies. In regards to Yossi, I liked him, but at times he lacked drive and commitment. I think Rafa lost trust in him. Since he left he has been what Rafa saw in him, impact sub. The hyypia one is a little redundant. I'm pretty satisfied that Sami doesn't harbour any negative feelings. Like I said, for me one big player mistake. Keane cost us in some big games, as he fluffed his lines infront of goal. Sitters. Allied with the bits that ed001 is referring to, you could understand Rafa's annoyance.

D-Day (1892)

Hold on, i was under the impression that Rafa did not want Keane but wanted David Villa.
I was under the impression Parry said he wouldn't sign off on paying £15m for what he thought was an unproven player (Villa) but was happy to spend £18m on a 28 year old Keane which annoyed Rafa so Rafa & his ego then went about making Keane's time at Melwood a nightmare by ridiculing him when he could ie the video man type of story.
Benayoun also hinted that Rafa tried making a fool out of him at times for whatever reason even though he may have scored & played well in a match.
Sorry if i'm wrong on the Keane thing Ed / others but that as i said was the impression i was under.
Could have sworn i got that info from you Ed last year or in 2010 but i am 33 nearly & my memory is now slipping ha ha!
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {Ed001's Note - I have never said Rafa didn't want Keane mate, might be one of the other editors having a different viewpoint. Keane was very much on Rafa's list, he did want him, he just wasn't the main priority.}

Wat did keane do wrong then?

Wish i knew KNEE JERK!
It was a shame whatever happened, if we kept him until the summer we (maybe) could have clawed back the 4 points.
Torres got injured in February I think & we threw away points at home to Fulham & West Ham which would have been the 4 we needed.
Keane may just have got a sneaky goal or two in those games but we had N'gog, enough said lol!
So near & yet so far eh?!
Irish Kev.

Fair enough Ed, sorry, it might easily have been another Ed as i wasn't too sure who was who amongst you guys back then probably with "Ed's note", "Editors note" & the like.
D-Day (1892),
Ya Keane was sold in January, he did miss some big chances for sure.
I remember air shots against Utd at home & a terrible, cocky, pathetic attempt of a
finish vs Atletico Madrid away, but can't remember him costing us any games as we only lost 2 games all season.
Benayoun has become a bit part player these days but had a terrible injury since he left so it's hard to judge in his case if he could still have done it.
He (Rafa) dropped Benayoun after every good game he had, same with Crouch, Hyypia i concede was clearly getting old but had a season left in him & wasn't replaced properly.
I could go on with some other players like Babel for example but as i mentioned earlier, i don't want to slag Rafa too much as i do / did enjoy most of his tenure.
You do make good arguments for me being wrong mate but i'm a stubborn so n so ha ha!
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

Sorry Ed if i've opened up a can of worms with the Keane thing with people asking questions that can't be answered here!
It's incredibly frustrating not being able to spill the beans as to what went on as i'm sure you may agree.
I'll just never refer to it again i think as it's too messy with all those worms & beans being opened & spilled all over the place lol.
Irish Kev. {Ed001's Note - it drives me mad, still at least it is clear to see by his recent performances, and how far his career has fallen, that something is up.}

Can i mention the Richard Keys one though lol!
If you haven't heard of that one please look it up!
I actually nearly pi$$ed myself laughing at it when i read it!
It's so mad & funny it could actually be true!
You may be directed to a Spurs site if you search it, there you will find what you seek...
Irish Kev.

Its easy enough to find a rough idea of what went on regarding Keane, arry and Rafa though Irish. And does'nt suprise me one bit, with the way arry conducts his business.

people need to get real. Higuin,cavani etc. wnt come to us. But Bent wud jump at the chance n he IS a gud goalscorer BUT wudnt want him for 20m+.
Wud b happy with De jong.
Ramirez seems unlikely now so try A johnson if possible.
If Soldados a possibilty go for him But if not go for G.Hooper cheap english poacher gud option.

De Jong
A johnson/Ramirez/Hoillet/??
Soldado/Hooper.

F5.

Why can't we dream big?
I'm not talking Messi big, but we are Liverpool FC ffs, we are a worldwide recognised club so have every chance to get in quality players such as Cavani.
It all depends on funds to pay his fee & wages.
I think he'd jump at the chance to play alongside Suarez & Coates (if he ever gets a game again)!
Have a little hope mate.
We are a top top club!
Look at Juve for example, they were relegated a few seasons back but that didn't stop good players going to them, what have they won since?
But they still get good players as they're a big club also & now they're back challenging for honours again at the top.
Irish Kev.

Not exactly a rumour, but I was in the Bem Brazil restaurant tonight on Paradise Street and Damien Commolli was there having a meal with two fellas, none looked like players tho (too old :) but both looked well dressed and well tanned. I did try to listen to any conversation but all sounded foreign to me.

Stunning news. Thanks

Brilliant. We can now all agree that Comolli likes to eat, goto restaurants and likes to associate with well dressed business men. Im surprised an exclusive like this hasnt made the back pages yet........

bleacherreport.com/articles/1009787-luis-suarez-ban-5-things-liverpool-did-wrong/page/6

This is a stupid article. Here are my thoughts on it, as i wrote on the site:

First, I would like to say that this article is written entirely in someone's OPINION. It is by no means right or wrong is it Mr. Cummings?

I also think this is article is very flawed. Firstly, the T-shirts, they do not, represent "anti-anti-racism", they are simply showing their support for a player they do not believe made racist comments, so they are not being pro-racist.

You say that if Dalglish obtains some hidden knowledge, why doesn't he come out with it? Because, as he says, he doesn't want to get into trouble over it. And if we had a special insight, why WOULD they want it in the report? This hidden knowledge is supposedly pro-evra so they obviously wouldn't want it in there as it would make them look bias. We are not appealing the ban because we just want to get it out the way and so he would definitely be back for the Spurs or United game.

Now for the Suarez Statement. You talk about the quote about him living in a small town. He says this to say how he was still raised well and has good manners etc. Next you say, and this annoys me a lot, "Never? How about Patrice Evra?" The fact is, he is saying that he is not racist, and did not mean his comment to be racist, so this comment of yours is obviously stupid. You then say how he does have power over his words. He is not referring to that but is referring to the fact that he was powerless during the interviews and hearings. Onto the next quote. He may of not known that his comment would of gone down so badly here. We all know that being politically correct has gone over the top in this country even saying "my friend the black guy" would provoke remarks like "you shouldn't say that" etc. That would be simply distinguishing a friend from a group, for instance. How do you know that it is not acceptable in South America as you claim? If the whole report and surroundings over the incident and hearing where so clean and nothing went wrong, why were the language "experts" from manchester university? And it could of been that in Suarez's particular area of Uruguay it could of been acceptable to say such things. Yes it will be a difficult time for him, being the centre of a possible witch-hunt where he could be innocent. And your last comment is very stupid, what is wrong with saying how he wants to play football again?

The "Persecution Complex" as you put it. We made that statement regarding the FA being determenined to have Suarez guilty because we obviously felt that they were against him. Why should Evra not be punished for his comments, which would of obviously had a large part in this row? If it was unrepeatable to say in the report or in the hearing and Suarez's was, why isn't it being punished for the same amount of time if not longer?

By saying that he has black relatives and has played with and against other black players is because he obviously hasn't done anything to them and no doubt they at some point would have annoyed him as everyone annoys everyone at one point, it's just human nature. And as you say in the next quote "what Suarez allegedly said". Key word ALLEGEDLY said. It is not certain that that is what happened so how can it be used against him? That is Evra (and assumingly yours) side of the story. OPINION.

Evra could very well be lying in a lot of this. If we feel it is not the truth why should we apologise.

I have been following the Suarez debate on these pages and in the media over the last number of days with more than a little frustration and annoyance but felt I lacked the words to make my point so I was delighted when someone finally did what I couldnt....I refer everyone to Paul Tomkins article in the Tomkins Times yesterday...if there has been a better summation of the whole debacle I have yet to see it.

Depressive Posts
Do me a favour chaps.., reality check, we are competing with Arsenal and Chelsea for 4th.., which sorry to remind you we beat earlier in the season..
The world and his dog know we need a striker, which doesn't come easy in Jan.., one bad result and it's negative posts.. Every game bar spurs we have dominated, then get shown what taking your chances is all about, keep the faith and stop asking Eds who we are signing cos they and know only KK

Ed, just a quick question on soldado, is it the same soldado that nearly signed for hull city a few years ago or have I got it totally wrong?

Cheers

Lee {Ed001's Note - I am not sure to be honest, I don't remember it, but it could have been I guess.}

Cheers mate, I just wondered cos when hull got promoted to the PL a soldado nearly signed for them but he played at Madrid in the youth team {Ed001's Note - then it very well could be him, he came through Madrid's youth team.}

Hull were after Alvaro Negredo, not Soldado.

Jatt YNWA

I'm sure that was negredo when he was at Almeria mate.

Stu.

Bloody hell, where would Hull be now if they had those players!

Suarez will not leave, he has the backing of the players and the coaching staff, if the owners are worried about the image, it's a bit late, the damage may have been done, one of the eds mentioned a worry about sponsors, if this were true would we have signed a deal with Konica minolta the other day whilst this racism row happened, we have sponsors lining up, carlsberg would jump at the chance to be on out shirts again, as for Suarez, he feels victimised but thankful the bulk of the club and the supporters back him

The worst player in the Man City game was Adam. Don't pick him again.

Sir Derek

No he wasn't Derek mate, it was Johnson or Kuyt.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Kuyt was appalling, shudnt even make the subs anymore, id rather see some1 whos 16 played

Kuyt was pretty abismal. But yeah Adam was very poor.

If Suarez were to leave it would be for more than Torres was sold, in which case use the money to buy an even replacement unlike the Torres Carroll episode. Ed, then , maybe then, could we get cavani? Don't get me wrong, I don't want Suarez to leave, I simply love the guy, but if the eds say there's even the slight possibility that he could go, I'd be interested to hear their thoughts. Cheers guys, top job {Ed002's Note - Cavani won't be joining.}

ED02 Hasn't got a clue what is going on so always says that every player linked won't be joining. Why don't we get back to the good old days and stop asking the editors for their opinions - if you have a rumour post it. The Ed doesn't have a clue. Cavani is in the picture - mark my words. {Ed002's Note - So why not leave a name?}

Good for LFC for standing by Suarez. If there was any thuth in the allegations the CPS would have got involved - why haven't they? - because none of the allegations would stand up in court.
The truth is this is politically motivated by the FA - can you imagine a case going to court where the accused is of mixed race, where there are no witnesses, where the plaintiff has twice had similar claims kicked out? No.
LFC know that any appeal will be heard by the same kangaroo court who only listen to what they want to hear.
Evra is a disgrace to football.

Sir Derek {Ed002's Note - I assume a joke post.}

Whats funny? {Ed001's Note - well for starters Evra has never had previous claims kicked out of court.}

Derek, i don't think 8 matches is fair. They both should've gotten 4 games ban for both being racist. However, whats done is done, the FA didn't decide the punishment, and regardless, Suarez was racist towards Evra.
Move on.

I'll leave you with a question in regards to Terry and Evra receiving "special treatment".
If one murderer goes free, do the others deserve the same?

YNWA! (Adam)

Well what about for the main course and dinner ed?

I bet the terry case will go on well past the euros's

The only discrimination i see in the whole thing is from the F.A towards Liverpool wait and see if utd get in trouble for the sh*t that happened tonight

I don't think it's fair on the eds to speculate about players that we think would be good buys. just relax and see what happens. we'll know if anything is going to happen

Now I've posted in banter saying we need to get this window right, and i'd now like to make some suggestions of how to do that. (If its too far fetched Eds, whack it in Liverpool Teams, but i'm just posting some 'possible' rumours):

Sell:

Kuyt - £7m - Galatasaray, back to eredivisie?
Johnson - £12m - Chelsea, Real Madrid?
Aurelio - £0m - Free to a good home

Sign:

Luuk De Jong - £14m
Kevin Strootman - £8m
Matthew Jarvis - £8m

Now obviously these are rough prices, but i think they are all reasonable, and except perhaps Strootman who may have to wait until the summer, they are all realistic for January.
I'm not gonna mention net spend, because that is never accurate with extra fees and pay offs etc.

De Jong - Is very similar to Demba Ba. Quick, powerful, clinical, and good in the air.

Strootman - I genuinely think he's the next Van Der Vaart, we should sign him as soon as we can. Excellent Control, fantastic shot, can see a pass.

Jarvis - Not extravagent, but always delivers a great cross. Doesn't just hit it in like Downing, he picks his man. Very consistent.

I am of the belief Spearing is good enough to fill in for Lucas, and given a good run this year, could be as good as him. Henderson needs to play central to develop and improve, but Charlie adam and Downing, for seasoned pros, have been dissapointing. Carroll also has time to develop as does Coates so i am happy with them, but Adam and Downing should be performing here and now.
Enrique and Suarez have come in and been fantastic (football terms anyway).

(Can't resist a formation Ed, sorry, see you in the team listings lol)

----------------------Reina-----------------------
Kelly--------Skrtel-------------Agger-------Enrique
------------Spearing--------Gerrard---------------
Jarvis--------------Strootman---------Bellamy/Maxi
-----------------Carroll/De Jong-------------------

Doni, Flanagan, Carragher, Henderson, Adam, Downing, Carroll/De Jong.

Bellamy and Maxi should alternate between games as neither are fully fit. Carroll and De Jong should be played based on Form (whoever is better at the time). Downing and Adam need to fight there way back into the team.

Suammary:

Get shot of three old, average high earners, bring in 3 youngsters with great ability, and better potential.

When Suarez and Lucas return, things get really interesting with a squad that strong. Depending on Flanagan and Robinsons development, we may need to recruit in the wingback positions in the summer, but they both seem good enough back up to me.

YNWA! (Adam)

p.s. Far fetched Ed? Realistic? Or just 20 minutes of my evening wasted speculating? ;) if its Ed002, be gentle with me!

Eds, am I right in thinking I remember Aurelio was being paid based on appearances because of his poor injury record? If so, let's keep him - he's superb when he is fit

cozinoz {Ed001's Note - no, he rejected that offer and was signed to a normal contract by Roy when we were desperate.}

04 Jan 2012 23:27:51
hi ed's, great site by the way, anyway just wondering, out of our realistic targets, e.g luuk de jong, (soz if spelling is wrong) would you most want at the club? thnx

clm96p {Ed002's Note - The most, Sissoko for the long haul.}

Could Sissoko be brought in this transfer window?

Vik {Ed002's Note - Sure, but interest is unclear after the summer.}
