Harry Wilson with another man of the match performance for the U23s. I really hope he's given a chance with the first team soon, he's having a terrific season so far.

Fantastic young talent, it's a matter of time mate.

06 Nov 2016 07:41:23
Maybe get his chance when mané goes to African cup.

05 Nov 2016 20:12:14
Hi Ed001,
Any chance of a preview for tomorrows game?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I will try and put one together now, I had forgotten all about until this morning, as I had got mixed up thinking it was international weekend!}

05 Nov 2016 21:23:00
No worries Ed.

05 Nov 2016 19:31:18
Ed001, I presume you've met Luis Garcia? Seems like a good guy, and like he still loves the club? Scored some great and important goals too!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - a couple of times, seems a lovely guy and was happy to talk footie, but I can't say I know him, just know he loves Liverpool.}

05 Nov 2016 20:41:40
Was there any particular reason why he didn't stay that long?

{Ed001's Note - the manager no longer wanted him.}

06 Nov 2016 00:33:16
I think he's a club ambassador.
There was a lot about him, Robbie Fowler and Gary macca on Lfc tv on the preseason tour of America.
In my opinion it must be the best job in the world for LFC fan.

05 Nov 2016 19:09:20
Ed01, you gave a review of the coaches before the season started, and you didn't seem to think Chelsea would be that competitive (which I hoped meant out of the top 4) with Conte.
Is he doing something different now? This Chelsea team is playing well and here I was hoping for one less rival. I was hoping Chelsea wouldn't be part of the top 4 because of him.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I said he would improve things and steady the ship, which is what he has done. They still had the team that won the league just a couple of seasons ago and added the best centre mid in Europe to it. Tactically he will get caught out by the top coaches, but he will be fine to get them into Europe. It is just that he is never going to win the Champions League, which is what Abramovich spends the money for.}

05 Nov 2016 19:20:54
Thanks. They can qualify for Europe as long as Liverpool finishes above them.
This season is going to be very difficult. And Man Utd hasn't even started playing well yet.

06 Nov 2016 08:05:00
He and they will be found out. This is the prem, systems rarely get 6 months before there sussed.

This is the exact same style we played and won for like 10 games under Brendan after Suarez left, December -Feb. Then we got worked out and it all went to crap.

3 at the back eaithet gets you some good results to begin with in thus league or it just doesn't work. They won't be able to stay like this.

A.

05 Nov 2016 18:41:30
Right down in the dumps now. Just when I start to think we are a decent force again our best player is on his way. I can't fault the player as he wants to play at the highest level possible but it hurts. we will again be re-building. I can't think of anyone near his quality that we can bring in without going into stupid money 40m+ and crazy wages which we won't and shouldn't do. No one in the squad is capable of filling the void and grabbing each game by the scruff of the neck like he does. Like I say I can't blame him for wanting to move on but i'm thinking how we are going to replace him without taking backward steps in our progress.

Believable0 Unbelievable10

05 Nov 2016 18:52:22
We shouldn't be thinking about coutinho atm. We need to think about winning trophies atm especially w/ o Europe we have real chance in domestic cups etc. Everything will take care itself once we start winning. Mind u playing in CL again will be real progress too.

05 Nov 2016 18:53:59
We will never replace Coutinho. We might buy plenty and start rebuilding transition all over again as we did after selling Torres to Suarez. I would move heaven and earth and triple his wages to keep him at the club.

05 Nov 2016 18:55:06
Wait. Did we accept a bid or something? You talk as if coutinho's last game is coming up.
Perhaps we'll just win the league and he'll stay here till 2021.
But why oh why are you and everyone else for that matter focusing on something 8 months down the line? Why can't we just enjoy the fantastic football we're playing right now instead of constantly worrying about this player and that.
No player is bigger than the club and to use a good man's phrase players are just transient employees.
Besides if he does have a bad game next half the people crying now would go back to saying how he's flash in the min and they'd take decent money for him.

{Ed002's Note - Because the purpose of the site is to discuss transfers.}

05 Nov 2016 19:11:07
Load of doubters 😡 (except young Reet)

1) Coutinho is our player until someone has a bid accepted.
2) Klopp is building a "TEAM". Some may be unfamiliar with the concept so - basically a "TEAM" is not reliant on one player and does not fall apart if a player moves on. Coutinho does not play every game. We do not win every game he plays and we do not lose every game he misses. He's a brilliant player on his day but he is far from consistent. He does not "grab each game by the scruff of the neck" at all and his potential departure would not leave a "void".

I can't work out if the OP is on a wind up. I can never work out Chin's fluctuating state of mind either 😄.

If you want a potential name to stop you moping about then what about James Rodriguez? He could play on the left.

05 Nov 2016 19:13:02
Ed do you agree its a step back and will take us time to replace and rebuild or am I thinking to much into it.

{Ed002's Note - Players come and go, managers come and go and owners come and go. Liverpool is the only team in the world that needs a year of transition when a reserve goalkeeper leaves.}

05 Nov 2016 19:29:11
Thats a great reply ed002 and I'm hoping that the collective will help loss of big players. that's how it feels now anyways. Previously we always seemed reliant on a couple dudes.

05 Nov 2016 20:28:04
Ron, you were going really well, until you mentioned a replacement, keep the faith, I believe that we will get Champions League next season, and we won't be a selling club, we will be adding to our great TEAM .

05 Nov 2016 20:43:00
I only threw out a name redforever to keep the mopers happy.

05 Nov 2016 21:29:24
Players will come and go, but for Couts I'd say Ojo looks like he could fill the void next season, or maybe Pulisic. Everyone is replaceable. Does anyone miss Stirling nowadays? Carragher even? Or Torres?

05 Nov 2016 21:32:36
haha couts is good he's got better playing this formation an he does seem to be doing more than he was but come on the are others out there that will do what he does an that's score goals and assist others to score. I'm not worried I think he'l stay but if not ah well. Let's keep some perspective .

05 Nov 2016 22:39:58
Wow chill out everyone. I was only saying the other day how good it was that we aren't reliant on one player. We have lots of players waiting to fill his place were he to leave and our team is very much a team now.

06 Nov 2016 07:13:25
Need a year of transition when reserve keeper leaves. Ed02 your comments are the best mate.

06 Nov 2016 08:07:27
Wow what's the meltdown for.

1/ coutinho is here until the summer
2/ he is in no way shape or form as crucial to us as Suarez was, just no.

Brilliant player but not the reason where so good, infact his run. of good consistent performances is as much down to him as it is the base the team provides for him.

05 Nov 2016 18:40:57
Is it just me that doesn't understand all this Coutinho leaving talk that's so dominating the discussions here?

Ed002 has already said that he won't be going in January and by Summer we could be a Champions League club again!

Coutinho is a Liverpool player. Nobody has said he's definitely leaving. unless I'm missing something, which I'm sure I'm not? He's only said he wants to leave if we aren't in the Champions League hasn't he?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

05 Nov 2016 20:26:17
exactly.

06 Nov 2016 00:03:57
Eds can we have a post of the day section 😉.

05 Nov 2016 17:16:56
I have seen many leaving Liverpool for better opportunities. I don't want Coutinho to go.
You don't sell your talisman. You convince him to stay and build the team around.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - You have to accept players are transient and come and go.}

05 Nov 2016 17:26:49
I do accept it ED02 and have been convincing my heart and soul since how many years now. This happens only at Liverpool though. Chelsea keeps Hazard
We work hard to assemble a team and then sell the most important rock.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has been far more successful so it makes it far easier.}

05 Nov 2016 17:53:17
Looks like they are going to top of the table. Who saw that coming?

05 Nov 2016 18:14:37
It's not only Liverpool is it. Spurs sold Modric, Carrick, Berbatov, Keane and Bale. Arsenal sold Nasri, Clichy, Sagna, Fabregas, Van Persie, Toure etc. Everton sold Stones, Rodwell, Rooney and Fellaini. Southampton have sold Lallana, Lovren, Shaw, Mane, Clyne, Schneiderlin etc.

We are in the same bracket as these teams. Good clubs who are not winning trophies regularly. Until we are winning silverware we will not be in the same position as Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City will we. They have been regulars in the Champions league and title race for many years. We haven't won a major trophy since 2005. So in a brutally honest fashion, get over it Harry!

I agree that you always try and hold on to your best players, but if they want to leave then forcing them to stay is just a waste of time. I hope this is all just a storm in a tea cup, we win the league, and Coutinho signs an extension to 2022! But if he does not want to be here, I'll make sure the door hits him on the way out ;)

05 Nov 2016 18:22:03
This is strange. I thought coutinho was still a Liverpool player?

05 Nov 2016 20:27:11
Madrid and Barcelona don't want hazard as well so makes it easier.

05 Nov 2016 16:42:51
Eds do you think brannagan is good enough to replace coutinho of he goes? I think he's quality don't know why he isn't getting much games.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I think it unlikely that Klopp would give him the opportunity to step straight in.}

05 Nov 2016 17:10:50
brannagan is not good enough for that yet. I'd just drop firmino back and play origi up top.

05 Nov 2016 18:29:47
no offence to Brannagan but he is nowhere near Coutinho's level, hasn't even made the first team squad this season. Unfortunately for the lad he will have to leave if wants to progress his career possibly in the championship or league 1.

05 Nov 2016 16:17:40
Jordan Ibe subbed at half time today not really working out for him at he moment feel sorry for the lad but also think we did well to get 15m for him . we all had high hopes for him couple of years ago hope he can pick up his form at Bournemouth.

Reading Eds post about Under Armor and Steph Curry being the face (shame he lost the finals! ) anyway who do you think is Liverpools most marketable player/ asset? Not the best or most skilled, most marketable? Hendo was on the cover of FIFA 16, Coutinho doesn't get a lot of hype from Nike, Firminodinho is quite a way down from the Adidas Pecking order, Mane hasn't reached face status imo, tough cookie, In all honesty it may be Klopp? I think he may be the most marketable, lemme know!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It depends on the market.}

05 Nov 2016 12:58:52
Question for the Eds. There are strong rumours that we are going for a winger in January. A name that keeps cropping up is Pulisic, do you think he would be ready to step straight into the first team?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - No.}

05 Nov 2016 18:30:49
He's been playing regularly for dortmund this season.

05 Nov 2016 12:38:00
Hi,

Question for the Eds. Are we interested in Will Hughes any more?

If not, is it because he never quite reached his expected potential?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - That was long ago Nick and everyone has moved on.}

05 Nov 2016 09:18:09
Morning eds

Whats the maximum games that Mane could miss being awat at the ACON please? I've read people asking about bring a player in to cover this and even the Echo are suggesting we will look to do so. Crazy if you ask me as surely we can push Lallana or Origi or Ojo into his slot? can't buy a new player just to come in for one missing a few games.

Also in Pulisic, we clearly have interest in him do you see us trying to sign him in the summer?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United, Swansea, Chelsea and Hull but he plays for a team that are unlikely to make the final. If they did you could reasonably add Spurs. If Liverpool are looking to replace Mane whilst he is away it would be a kick in the gonads for Ojo, but Klopp has his favourites. Pulisic is 17 and Dortmund has no interest in selling - but the summer is a long way off. Interest has been shown in other youngsters who may be more viable in the wing-back or attacking midfield/winger type role. Club are constantly looking at players, and Liverpool are no different.}

05 Nov 2016 10:09:52
Another dig at klopp ed? I'm sure every manager has their favourites.

{Ed002's Note - Try not to be so embarrassing - it is not about anyone else, it is about Klopp. If you don't want honest answers just don't come to the site anymore. If you don't think what Klopp said is not a kick in the gonads for Ojo then perhaps at the end of the season he will be another of the players wanting out, like Coutinho.}

05 Nov 2016 10:10:53
Ok mate cheers for reply.

05 Nov 2016 10:12:01
Isn't ojo out for the season? Or am I imagining things.

05 Nov 2016 10:46:00
Ed who has been looked at please at the attacking wing back/ mid roll?

{Ed002's Note - I will explain when there is an update.}

05 Nov 2016 11:58:13
Ok mate thanks again.

05 Nov 2016 12:50:23
I have to agree with you Ed, Klopp said that after Mane we have no wingers, of course that will be hard for Ojo to take. Perhaps he doesn't rate him?

{Ed002's Note - It was either a stupid thing to say or as you say he doesn't see him as part of the way forward. Playing the way he does much of the responsibility for what would traditionally be considered a winger is the responsibility of the full backs - hence the premium price true wing backs cost. No doubt Ojo will be thinking about his future whilst he has time to do so.}

05 Nov 2016 14:07:43
Just a swift question as nobody else seems to have mentioned it yet, How comes coutinho wants out still? And how many others want out? If your willing to throw in names then bonus, however I just wanted to gauge how long the list of players that want out is. Cheers in advance Ed002 and no worries if it's not something you want to discuss.

{Ed002's Note - Coutinho wants to play at the highest level and that opportunity has not been afforded him at Liverpool. More than a year ago I explained that Coutinho had said that he will leave Liverpool in the summer if they didn't have Champions League football to three of his International colleagues. He was also aware of interest from Barcelona and one of the three is a Barcelona player. That interest has not gone away whilst Liverpool managed to persuade him to stay and the club know that both PSG and Barcelona are keen on Coutinho. At the end of October his representative visited Barcelona to make clear that the player is open to a move there during 2017 and this re-enforces the recent comment from an international colleague that Coutinho has got Neymar to speak to Barcelona about him as well. Liverpool will try to avoid selling.}

05 Nov 2016 14:59:59
Ed2 I'm not being bitter and lashing out becuase I accept frankly we have been tapping up and I'm not trying to say everyone is doing it, but in the most peaceful way isn't Neymar and the other two internationals tapping up Coutinho or is it ok because they play for the same team? Also say we get champions league this season, will that change his decision? Cheers Ed2, you the MVP.

{Ed002's Note - The other two have not done any tapping up, just one of them recounted the story. What Neymar as done has not been to talk to Coutinho on behalf of Barcelona - which is indeed tapping up - but speaking to Barcelona at the request of Coutinho to re-enforce the efforts of his representative to make it clear to Barcelona that Coutinho wants the move. And that of course is not tapping up at all.}

05 Nov 2016 15:02:40
Interesting info thanks ed2.

Looking like couts will be off in summer but things change of course. End of the day he's still a Liverpool player. Should he move on in summer good luck to the lad, but we have him until then so I'm alright with that.

{Ed002's Note - You are jumping to conclusions very easily.}

05 Nov 2016 15:12:00
Cheers for clearing that up ED2, really helps.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

05 Nov 2016 15:17:14
Do you foresee one of Barcelona or PSG making move for Couthino in the January window Ed 2?

{Ed002's Note - Probably not, but he is available to play in the CL and PSG are looking at changes.}

05 Nov 2016 15:23:38
Yes, that's a good point re the CL.

Cheers ed.
