surely the easiest way to sign anyone is to get them and their club to cancel their contract therefore making him a free agent

Yatesy {Ed002's Note - It really doesn't work that way.}

Eds are we not in the same position we were when Moores was here he sold so we could build a stadium and improve our squad.. H & G screwed us over yes but Henry cant give us what we need a new stadium and improved players they want to build on youth but look at Barca and Real the produce good youth but they also buy big , actually name a top team who doesnt. It's a sad state yet another 5 year plan how much more can we take

Borussia Dortmund...?

Hughesy

Furthermore Eds, are we not in a dissimilar position to that which we might have been in if circumstances had not dictated otherwise?
Pointless.

Bigbadben

No. Under moores we were still a top 4 club

Our start of the season reminds me a little of Arsenals last year.. And how did their season end? (3rd place)

Keep faith.

Taurus

To be honest, every time in recent years things have looked bad, ive tried to be positive and hope for the best but its not gotten any better. Hard to be optimistic at this stage. but i try

No No No Arsenals seasons always start with them selling their best player. P.S dont try and say Carroll was our best player

But Arsenal had the league's top goalscorer...not quite the same with us

Am I only the one and I'm not losing my marbles that thinks with our striker shortage why don't we put the Legend CARRA up front last 15-20 minutes of a game if we need a breakthrough ok he can't hit a barn door but his presence will mean Suarez, Sterling et al have more space and he'll certainly make a nuisance. Agree or Disagree?

Dal Atwal

Is this a serious suggestion??

To be fair he did start out as a striker... But id rather throw agger up there if things got that bad!

RickyYNWA

Ummmm...yes...you are the only one that thinks that ridiculous suggestion should actually merit consideration

I feel dumber for having read that post Dal!

I'm 30 now when I was 5 I chose to support lfc it wasn't forced upon me , I still support the club now because I choose to because I love the club , clubs have there ups and downs I stay loyal , everyone has an opinion and is entitled to it , but support ur club , and if u can't **** off and support who ever is winning
Thanks
Jeff:)

Its not a case of winning,but how the club is being run.

I was born a red I had no choice and it has been the best thing that my father past down to me!

Agreeded^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I'll die a red and always support them in thick and thin but that doesn't mean I am not allowed to vent my frustrations. I look at the negative posts as people being so angry the club they love is not playing anything like it should. The season has only just begun a good performance against Man U and all will be forgot.

Don't see the point in getting any of the Bosmans that have been left on the shelf and we dodged a bullett missing Owen. I would give Ngoo a place on the bench , the lad is a beast, 6'4" built like a brick sh*t house very skillful and good in the air.

Hes a beast and he has pace as well

Sorry haven't we just got rid of someone fitting that discription ?

No he said hes good in the air, is skillful and lots of pace. it doesnt sound like Carrol at all.

Eds, is it possible for us to negotiate and agree transfers of players outside the window, for them to go through in January, in order to get business 'done' as soon as the window opens? Would be great if any business we do could be done right at the beginning of the window.

Secondly, I agree with most posters thoughts about Borini being used through the middle and having Suarez on the right of the front 3. Is there any understanding or theory behind BR playing Borini on the right and Suarez through the middle? What does BR believe this will give us more of?

Finally, can we all use the international break to let the anger go a bit? I was every bit as annoyed/frustrated as everyone else on transfer deadline day and during the Arsenal game. However, retaining this anger, getting on the back of the players and BR will not inspire any of them to succeed. Let's start showing the world that LFC really do have the most PASSIONATE, LOYAL and INTELLIGENT fans on the planet.

Here's hoping the 12th man can really make that difference to help the climb up the table......

BobbyF {Ed002's Note - It is possible to negotiate deals in advance.}

Hi Ed002,
Got a few questions to ask you. First is where is Doni? Second is can you reiterate we WON'T sign a free agent. Finally is the Carroll £17million thing like a release clause that only west ham can activate or can we reject £17m if he is really success full.
Cheers.
YNWA {Ed002's Note - Doni is still a Liverpool player, so I assume he is there. I really don't know if a free agent will be signed or not. West Ham can, as I understand, buy Carroll for £17M at the end of the season or he returns to Liverpool. If successful Liverpool will likely not be able to stop it.}

Westham are never going to buy carroll for £17M LOL!!
Think Aquaman all over again!!!

They will in 2-3 seasons someone like chelsea will but him for something like £25m so it would be a win win or westham

i have faith in brendan , it will take a month or two for the team to start to gel to his liking, although if gerrard was dropped that might speed up the process he is a liability at the present time, the team will be more balanced without him, rodgers will build a great team

Most sence I've read on here in Ages.

BR was let down with the fans by FSG.

I now know where the source of Liverpool's lack of form over the last 3yrs has come from and I have to come clean about it....
Its my fault....
I have a mate ..... who is a blue nose and he was also my best man at my wedding.
He had never been to goodison so I managed to get him some tickets for a game against Wigan.
At the last minute his other blue nose mate let him down and because my family are from Liverpool and he needed some help I reluctantly agreed to attend the match with him.....
Everton won 2-0 nil and I found myself politely clapping the goals that the blue s***e scored that day.
EVER SINCE THAT DAY LIVERPOOL HAVE NOT WON A BEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE HAVE NOT WON A RAFFLE!!!
RAFA GONE
OWL HEAD GONE
THE KING GONE.
I went to see a shrink and they told me that a problem shared is a problem solved.
There has to be a way of reversing this curse I have placed on the club with my blasphemous behaviour!
I am willing to break in to Goodison and take a s**t on the pitch.
I would p*ss all over Fellaini's bonce if needs be.....
Its getting beyond a joke!
Seeing Arsenal drive a bus through our midfield at the weekend is the final straw...
This needs to stop now!
jonnybarnes89-90
p.s I will never clap a f**cking Saha goal ever again!

Hi very funny love the owl head thing just great (godin)

Why do you all want the owners out? If they did go out and spend big big money on class players on high wages that would put the club in debt and we will struggle for years n years to come, now isn't it better to do what the owners want to do and get the club on a sound financial footing first and build the club from there, makes sense to me and if you lot can't see it then tough luck, you all need to get out instead of playing championship manager or FIFA on ur computers! You don't have a clue on what's best for the club so stop crying about it and get behind the team, Rodgers, the owners etc! We are Liverpool fc and at the moment everyone is laughing at us because of all the whining fans we have.....

Just a thought as life is full of what ifs
What if dubia had bought us and not h&g

We'd have been a landfill site

What if you had posted something useful?

See: Malaga

SpudRed

In the words of the song by Roger Whitakker - "I don't believe in if anymore"!
Accept things as they are - not how you would like them to be. By the way dubia didn't buy h&g!
Dutchmal

We would be like city but ultimately like Malaga.

It doesn't matter who owns us, the clowns on here would still moan.

05 Sep 2012 21:34:33
Not being happy does not make me a troll. It's well over 20 years since we won the league. Houllier came close, Rafa came close, but we are as far away now as we have ever been. Rodgers may be the answer, but it's going to take between 3-5 years until we can even complete. Live with it

3 transfer windows away mate if BR keeps making soun purchases like allen,assaidi,borini and yesil!

So whats the point in moaning and crying about it then? Just grow a set and get on with it.

No optimism here, no pessimism either - just realism

We are only 3 games in you troll! We are in healthy financial shape and are a 20 plus goal a season striker away from having a great team that can compete! You really need to see the bigger picture of what FSG are trying to achieve! I bet you once we starting winning a few games you fickle fans will start saying how great FSG! Seriously, just go support another team. PJ The Troll Hunter

What does PJ the Troll Hunter have in common with Jack the Ripper and Winnie the Pooh?

Their middle name is all The.

Maybe the solution is to put Gerrard as the main striker. He is not shy of shooting and loves to score. This will also take him out of the midfield, where he has been a liability of late. Suarez can just play behind him. Sterling and Assaildi on the wings and Allen and Sahin in the midflield. Can someone please call BR and give him this suggestion?

Paki-Red

Maybe the solution is to play gerrard from the bench

seriously

shelvey is seriously impressing at the moment

our bench has been looking rubbishe

gerrard can not give it all for 90 minutes week in week out

gerrard can single handedly turn a game around

he has lot to offer the club but he should not be automatic first choice if as BR and FSG keep saying we are "building for the future"

And henderson on gerrard position, and the problem solve.

Gerrard should play wide right. He can deliver a deadly accurate cross and provide good back up for the right back who should be Kelly. Johnson costs us too many goals.

05 Sep 2012 21:12:16
I think we should play Gerard up front with Morgan replacing him for the last 20 minutes to gain experience. Shelvey, Sahin and Allen in the middle. Suarez and Sterling or Borini either side of Gerrard. A while ago I was suggesting Gerrard play centre back or right back but needs must and he is the best finisher at the club.
Do you think he could play as a striker Ed / fellow reds?

Mantis

YESIL should be played upfront atleast until january

Gerrard should start on the bench

Borini has to be played up front...he is a striker not a winger

05 Sep 2012 21:11:42
Hey ed(s) do u know if we signed that young lad from brazil william mclaren?

ACHILLES. {Ed002's Note - If he has signed you would not see him here for quite a while yet.}

How old id he 14?

05 Sep 2012 20:59:49
the middle 3

hanson, souness and dalglish

i will dream on

Umm a striker and defender in midfield??

The middle 3

Coates,Allen and Yesil

i will dream on

Anyone that disagrees with this post;

A) doesn't know what the middle 3 in our formation do.
B) has no idea how absolutely brilliant those 3 players were.

SpudRed

I made the original point of the middle 3
hanson, souness and dalglish
i will dream on

.....halcyon days of a centre back, a midfield and a striker, who each wanted the ball, could pass the ball and very confortable on the ball and could entertain week in , week out

05 Sep 2012 20:38:18
The Liverpool team, its quite a decent squad if you ask me.

Mashun

I agree

we could use a new striker but until january we definately should be using morgan or yesil fort sure

we have options in all other posistions

gerrard (shelvey) and reina (gulasci) need competion and possibly even a run on the bench to get their ego's in check

carragher should not be on the bench

Form before status is how it shoud be

It is. and once they click, things will be looking up. It will just take longer than 3 games that's all.

05 Sep 2012 20:36:55
Remember the famous 'class of '92'? We could have the same ourselves with the amount of talented young players we have. Hopefully they will stick around and for years to come we'll have the likes of Sterling, Shelvey, Suso, Morgan, Ibe, Robinson, Flanagan and Pelosi causing trouble for other teams :-)

Mclaughlin (sp?) the Irish right back. Also Smith and Sinclair. Redevon

What did that class of 92 achieve?

I believe they created the spine of united during the 90's when they dominated the EPL

Class of '92? That would be the team that won nowt

Don't see it with pelosi. Yeah he scored the other day but fail to see it
Tommy.

No, it was the spine of the team that dominated the prem in the 90's

This FFP rule, to me is quite inconsistent with modern day reality.

Assuming a club like LFC wants to build a new stadium that would cost 300m and its owners can afford this money from thier pocket, outside of what the club earns, should they now be restrained from building this new stadium because of FFP, assuming it fails to find sponsors?

I think FSG is merely hiding behing behind FFP rather admiting the reality that we have very limited funds to spend.

Why not just come clean and let the manager or whoever is in charge know whats on board so we won't build our castle in the air by paying over the odds for average players only to give them away for little or nothing, despite Rogers saying the owners have been very honest with him.

That way, we would spend whatever money we have very prudently and not blow away scarce resources, only to look very stupid in the end.

Secondly, if the aim of FSG is to sell the club for a profit in the near future, then investing thier money in a new stadium would only inflate the price at which they can sell and this might pose as stumbling block to finding a buyer.

So, would it not be safe for us not to expect much from FSG while they remain in charge?

Sad fan. {Ed002's Note - (1) FFP and building a stadium are entirely unrelated. (2) The owners cannot fund it from their own pocket. (3) The aim of the owners is not to sell quickly for a profit. The aim of some of the fans is to force them to sell.}

surely its a good thing that we have not "stooped" to levels of bringing in older players- no disrespect but i put michael owen and mr Mr Pierro in that category. the younger players must be given the opportunity just like Raheem Sterling, seems a wonder player at the moment, patience and tolerance and consistency come to mind. sorry for making it sound too easy

No disrespect, but Liverpool are a work in progress this season and probably will not finish top four.
Stoke have got crouchy and owen at the end of those delap thrw ins and etherington and pennant crosses, they could be a really contender this season if owen stays fit.
The difference is LFC are trying to create a young squad so that we can get european football in the FUTURE!
stoke are trying to get european football with older players NOW!

There are many ways to play the game of football, none are right or wrong, will a barcelona-esque style team even cut it in the premier league? Wouldn't stoke just knock the rubbish out of them? LOL;)

Well stated, could not agree more- like I say, patience and tolerance and consistency -especially from the fans

05 Sep 2012 20:07:50
eds do u think fsg may want to sell liverpool {Ed002's Note - See numerous previous answers.}

They may not want to, but have to.
There is no sentiment in business.

Red Ewing

Why will they have to? Just because a few muppets have had a go at them.

You are the puppet !

They have to sell because they have cash flow problems, like many US companies.

It has nothing to do with the comments here.

I am sure they would love to run Redsoxx and Liverpool. The task is too great.

Liverpool was a 'Bridge too far'

It has nothing to do with their desire for success at Liverpool.

If they could they would.

how long is cole out for eds/ fellow reds as we could do with him kick starting his career having a blinder scoring and setting up goals as im as concerned as i was last season, we are playing well generally apart from against arsenal somewhat creating chances generally not close enough to goal and not being able to take them, so hopefully cole can finally get his game together get a run of games and show us why we signed him . stuart

He's out until the next time he gets injured, which won't be long.

Not going to happen tho is it

ED02 chancing my arm again 3rd time today.

With FSG offering a leaner fitter more stable club,how long (I know this is a piece of string speculation) do you think it will take the club to challenge at the highest level again? I can only see a painfull and slow recovery over the next 10yrs but then im a pessimist. Would greatly respect your objective independent take on the on pitch performance. {Ed002's Note - It is really pretty difficult to say. The concept of "highest level" is pretty subjective as well. Dalglish completely screwed up last year and the club should be able to get its act together and be fighting for the European places this season - perhaps not CL. If the fans who want to force the owners to sell then I would potentially fear for the team if the sale is via floatation.}

Ed02, I thought you were some form of independent arbitrator of comments. What a fatuous statement re" Dalglish completely screwed up...and the club..should be able to compete for place in Europe, maybe not CL"
did you not spot lfc is in Europe, and had the best defence bar two Manchester teams last season. After their first season in charge and first silverware for years.

Your comments belittle the site. {Ed002's Note - The club came eigth in the league last season - if you are satisfied with that then it is fine by me. The question posed was regarding challenging "at the highest level". I hadly think it is belittling the site to say that I think that the club can challenge for European places.}

Thanks for the answer again.
Tell me there is not really an orchestrated campaign against FSG? It seems some fans just want Citys owners to buy us. I have huge reservations over many of FSGs actions but we have no other option but to support them and hope they are quick learners who dont make the same mistakes twice.

Dalglish did not screw up

He followed the vision he had for LFC

Then Henry sacked Kenny and went with a manager that had a totally different vision without Henry being able to afford the vision of the new manager

Kenny should have been allowed to complete his plan or when Henry sacked Kenny he should have asked any potenion new manager ie Rodgers before he got the job what was his plan and football philospohy if it was tooally opposite to Kenny then he knew it would be problematic to implement

Thats what called straight thinking not over optimistic claptrap that passes for excuses from Henry

Kenny didn't screw up, he paid top dollar for average players...a bit like last time when he signed players like Speedie. Grow up people, it's time for us to move on...or we can keep harping back to the 'glory days'...which are well over 20 years ago. FFS

How do you figure he didn't screw up?

Give almost anyone else ~£120M+ in transfer fees over two windows on top of an existing £100M+ wage bill and I guarantee the end result is not a drop of two places the next season.

Kenny and Commoli combined to make disastrous decisions in terms of personnel moves that wasted a very, very large chunk of money which should have improved the squad but instead had the exact opposite effect. Thus, we're now on 'plan B' since we didn't achieve CL - austerity.

Dagleash did screw it.up end of....

05 Sep 2012 19:40:09
what about klasnic or mcfadden?? any possibilities eds?? {Ed002's Note - Would they be an improvement over Morgan, Pacheco, Nogg, Yesil? If the Liverpool fans would be happy with McFadden it seems a kick in the teeth to the youngsters. Perhaps they should just move on as clearly a lot of the fans have no interest in them being given a chance.}

I think ed has a point.

ACHILLES. {Ed062's Note - A very good point.}

Whose nogg? {Ed002's Note - Brother of Nogbad.}

Nogg is a bit of an egg - head!
DM2012

Half an egg nogg

Trouble with youngesters at liverpool is that they burn out very quickly look at fowler, owen and ehm mellor careers finished after they left cause they were overplayed as youngesters they picked up injures could we live with seeing sterling or morgan burnt out 25 signing another striker would protect them in the long run

05 Sep 2012 19:37:42
My question is if we had 6 or 7 points from our first three games there wouldn't be has much drivel wrote about LFC as there as been the last few days.

There would not of been as many questions towards the owners. So lets get behind the club and just maybe results will come.

Mighty reds

Well we don't have 7 points from our first 3 games, so what's your point?

Yes, and if we had qualified for the Champions League, or won the EPL in the last 20 years, everyone would be happy...but we haven't.

My point is there as been a overreaction to what is just the start of the season.

Mighty reds

05 Sep 2012 19:34:09
We won't sign any big name free agent. But Liverpool WILL make 1 or 2 signings in January. FSG have got money, but they just don't want to overspend like they did under Kenny. Yes deadline day was a cock up, but the failed deals weren't just down to money; Sturridge was going to join, but he wanted a permanent deal, but we wanted a loan as we weren't certain we wanted to invest £10m+ in a risky player, so the deal failed. Dempsey wanted to join us, but we didn't want to be held to ransom for a 29 year old in the last year of his contract. It was Ian Ayres fault that we didn't sign a forward because he couldn't negotiate a deal, not FSG's as the money was there, and FSG themselves were furious with Ayre. Also we weren't going to sign another striker whilst we still had a £35m one on the bench, so that's why it took us so long to finally make an effort to bring one in , simply becuase it took Carroll till the 30th of August to finally admit his time at Anfield was up. Stop being such drama queens, we need time to gel and settle and a season is 38 games, not 3. We will cope till January, and I guarantee signings will be made after Christmas; expect interest in Sturridge and Walcott.
Remember this email come January 31st

05 Sep 2012 19:25:03
I think we should pay Drogba whatever he wants to get him until January. Short term it wouldn't bankrupt the club, would it?
After all, a Drog isn't for life, it's just 'til Christmas.
Rigsby. {Ed002's Note - At present he is not available and he cannot be given a contract just until January.}

05 Sep 2012 19:22:01
just a question ed. how is carlos texeira doing who we signed last yr from lisbon

05 Sep 2012 19:14:24
Liverpool need to replace Lucas so there is cover in front of the back 4. M'Vilna is the best option.

Hinguain is another good choice if available at Striker.

FSG need to understand that resale value doesn't build teams and neither does undermining staff.

Supporters need to understand that there is no magic money tree growing inside Anfield.

05 Sep 2012 19:01:59
ed so say liverpool get the planning to redevelope to something under 65k, and if we got a naming rights deal , do you think ther deal would cover the whole of the buildings costs ?tanx

majestic69 {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what it would be, but the money would be spread over a number of years so in the interim expect money to be borrowed.}

05 Sep 2012 19:00:44
why are people slating Gerrard saying hes past it? i guarantee none of you where saying that in the euros when he was Englands best player; and got into the team of the tournament. hes just going through a very rare tough patch. last season , due to injury, he only started 12 games in the league and still scored 5 goals. he finished the season only 8 goals behind suarez in all competitions. He would still walk into every prem team. so give it a rest and get of his back. where ment to be the best fans in the world and all i see on her is people moaning to get our owners out and calling for Rodgers' head after 3 games. an for fans moaning about s not spending money our owners have spent over 130 million in 2 seasons. Since the transfer window opened 10 years ago, only man city and chelsea have spent more than us. and we have spent considerably more than 4th place man u. stop moaning. best fans in the world, my arse.

Let's face it England were a poor side. Steven Gerrard should earn his place in Liverpool's starting line up like any other player and to be fair he is not producing at the moment.

Hi Ed002
i have been reading alot that we are trying to agree a pre contact with llorente. Personally i don't think we have any chance of getting him. Do you think there is any chance of getting him.
Also do you reckon we could make a january move for Huntelaar?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Not really and no.}

Is the Ka Ching billionaire takeover mentioned earlier a possibility?

MID TIW

Ka Ching is a money expression.

There is no such billionaire as Ka Ching.

The earlier poster was refering to a business man called Ka Ching. I dont think it was a piss take he didnt say he was buying the club just "interested"

Personaly I'd give Dani Pacheco a go instead of Cole. Cole is way past his best and this way he might realise his future is elsewhere and bog off in January. He had the chance to go but said no I'll stay here and take the money instead of going somewhere and playing.
I've heard reports of a bad attitude with Dani but I'd still give him a second chance, he's only a kid still. Eds do you know how long is on his contract?

SK {Ed002's Note - 2014.}

hi eds, do you know if adam morgan is a highly rated prospect. all i heard about in the last couple of years was sterling and susso were the ones to watch out for, sterling looks the part.

thanks B O H {Ed002's Note - Morgan is expected to do well.}

BR bought players who could settle in together. The similarties between borini & allen are that they both came from Swansea. Yesil & Sahin are both from Turkey. Along with Assaidi they are Muslims. This is expert man management

Coincedence. Jesus people will try and look for a meaning in everything

Rather restrictive though...so if he get's one player he has to buy another to be friend with him!

Gav

I think it was ability and attitude more than anything.

Jonesred

Expert... Really?

Explain why we didn't get Dempsey then! Clearly BR was just waiting until Dempsey and Donovan were both available in January.

So if Cheech signed for Liverpool then it means we would have to have Chong as well!

Think it's pretty clear that the squad we have is the squad we have, until at least January. So, instead of moaning about it, can we maybe chat about what we can do with what have?

For me, if I were BR, I'd do the following:

- Gerrard can't play more than 1 game per week. Playing him 90 minutes on Thursday and then starting again on Sunday was a mistake. I would also consider having him come in off the bench rather than starting.

- Play Kelly at RB, Johnson/Enrique at LB. Continue playing Downing at LB as well in cup games.

- Borini has to play central. He is not a wide player, but a poacher and has stated in the past he prefers to play centrally.

- Suarez should play wide or even behind the striker. He is not a poacher.

- Carragher should not be on the bench if Coates is. Waste of a bench space to have two CBs there.

- Give Morgan more chances as well as possibly Ngoo. But not out wide- in the center where they belong.

- Give Suso and Pacheco a chance. We need more attacking flair and I see no reason why they couldn't sub into a game or start some of the cup/Europa ones.

Come January, I'd do the following:

Sell Downing (if possible)- raises £8M-12M
Sell Johnson- raises £10M-15M
Sell Reina (if possible)- raises £8M-12M
Offload Cole anywhere possible- (£2M) to supplement his insanely high wages

Giving us £24M-37M. With that, buy:

A new keeper for £4M-7M (al Habsi, as an example)
A decent striker for £13M-16M (Negredo, Farfan, Osvaldo, Lopez, as examples)
Another young forward for £4M-5M (Musa, Markovic, Jese, as examples)

Better attacking options, defense arguably strengthened with new GK, lower wage bill (Johnson, Reina, and Cole all on very high wages).

Think that's what I would try to do anyway... Thoughts?

Nice post. Constructive and makes sense. You got any more posts like that, sign your name. Ignore the trolls.

Oddly enough, the one thing i agree with is that Coates and Carragher should never be on the bench together....

YNWA - JFT96

I completely agree with everything except for selling Johnson and Reina. Johnson is one of the best right backs in the world as far as I am concerned, and is a major part of our team, especially in terms of his creativity and pace. Kelly on the other hand I see as more of a CB, and whilst he has a terrific amount of energy, I just don't like him at RB. Reina... I think my reasons for not wanting him to be sold are slightly sentimental, but in addition to that I do not think that selling one of the best goalkeepers in the world would help our status and would only add to the growing belief we are becoming a mid-table club; it is therefore vital to hold on to one of the three/four world class players we actually have. I know he has been dreadful recently, but I'm sure he'll up his game soon enough.

BR has to give the kids a chance else the season will be a total waste.
Borini,Sterling,Suso,Pacheco,Morgan,Yesil,Coates,Wisdom,Flannagan,Robinson should all be given opportunities to prove their worth in a liverpool starting X!.
For me sterling deserves his place in a starting XI, I think ALL of us agree on that.
Borini desrves to be there, he has all the hard work of Kuyt but more speed and flair and could be an absolute steal!
Pacheco deserves his chance, make or break time for him this season.
Suso is the one I'd like to see be given a chance ASAP.
Yesil should be given a run at CF immediately for me, this lad could be the real deal top quality german international that you have all been dreaming of for years and he needs to be played!Until january he should be our first choice striker, maybe we won't even be wanting a new striker if this lad starts scoring.
Morgan should be on the bench, what have we got to lose? It was embarassing not having a striker on the bench at the weekend.This lad really could be the next Robbie Fowler.
If Enrique is injured then Robinson should be next inline to play, forget about playing your england international right back out of posistion!Whats the point in that?
Coates should be 1st choice reserve and should definately come before carragher in the pecking order.This lad is a beast and is very capable of going forward as well as defending, a very good player!
I'm even starting to think that maybe shelvey should be getting picked infront of gerrard, with gerrard on the bench to be used as an impact player.shelvey is a live wire, a very exciting prospect and seems like he could be starting to settle into the first team with confidence and determination.

Give peas a chance :D

Oops- sorry, Bigbadben- it was me.

Good post and I agree with some points especially the carragher Coates point but to sell Reina and get wigans goalkeeper el habsi is a pathetic comment to make..... We should go out and get jack butland if anyone

I figured the Reina and Johnson comments probably wouldn't be 100% appreciated and I respect others opinions there.

For me, Kelly is not far off from being at Johnson's level and is maybe even a tad better defensively. He's also clearly the future. I think pulling Johnson from the team does very little to the overall team quality (again, my opinion), plus he's on relatively high wages and is one of the few players we have who I think there might be some demand for at a decent price. To be clear, I think Glen is a fine player, it's just it's one of the few area we actually have pretty decent coverage and a player that has some value in the market.

As for Reina, frankly he's been poor for some time now (again, my opinion). His distribution of the ball long is excellent and perhaps one of the best in the world, but given we're not playing long balls forward or quick breaks, that particular talent is wasted here. As far as shot stopping goes, though, he's just not been very good at all lately. I'd say there are at least 5 better in the PL alone. He is also on a high wages and I believe could be sold for a profit even with a replacement coming in, thus leading me to my conclusion. I completely understand he's stuck with us though and that is certainly a factor for consideration.

Not sure why people don't rate al Habsi as much as I do (maybe I'm just crazy). To me, him and Vorm are two of the better keepers in the league (along with Cech, Szczeny, and Hart).

Good conversation though- thanks for the replies!

RDL

I agree with all of this really but instead of selling johnson id push him into on to the right hand side of the front three. He can beat a man just needs to improve his final ball thats all. He also has an eye for goal too. Al habsi is an immense keeper the guy who said it was pathetic to mention him is daft as a brush i think, top performer week in week out... Look at the save from adam at weekend from the free kick absolute worldie! And for me shelvey should stsrt every game the guy is the new gerrard for me not frightened of going into the tackle and can pick a forward pass, never hides, it just makes sense

anybody else think steven gerrard should seriously consider international retirement? Think now is the perfect time and can only help prolong his playing career with us with.

I totally agree but until somebody as the balls to drop him for not performing at club level then he will think he can carry on.

He deserves to carry on playing for england to gai his 100th cap at least

Yes, especially if he wants to play long enough to win the PL

He loves playing for england.

It's time for us fans to back the club the owners staff manager and players , that's our job , not give out about not signing old players that just want a big pay , I couldn't believe at the time fans wanting raffa out the success he brought us and Istanbul was the best football night of my life , we were fuc.ed heading into administration when John Henry pulled up in the black taxi with his brown briefcase and fought to take our club away from hick and gillet , fsg pumped alot of money into our club and thought they were doing good giving kenny alot of money to buy the players he wanted but he messed up , it's not their fault he bought crap, this summer they bought us Allen , anassaidi , borini , and paid for sahin on loan , we kept all our top players also , and why do people still slate them for not putting the club into big debt, the stadium will be sorted out by fsg and in the next 2-3 years we will be challenging for the league and champions league again , so I say thank you mr Henry and fsg , now start showing them sum support .
Thank you
Jeff:)

Thank you Jeff. Keep the trolls at bay.

Agree entirely with the poster.We are a team in transformation and it will take a few seasons for us to regain a CL spot.
BR is building for the future.All LFC fans have got to be patient we can't keep changing managers and owners all the time.There has to be stability within the club for us to get back to where we belong.There will be good and bad results as there were against Man.City and Arsenal although we should have won the city game but for defensive errors.All fans have to pull together and stop criticising the owners,who basically saved the club from oblivion, and a good young manager with a vision to take us forward.

Hey Ed's with our current problems at the club and FSG not giving a flying f*** about us , do you's think there's a possibility if FSG popularity continue to fall they will eventually sell ? surely we would be an attractive asset to buy with debt free and rich with history !!! {Ed002's Note - This has been done to death.}

We don't need more strikers, we just need our current strikers to score, they are good enough to you know.

Munster

I agree entirely, BUT players need to be played in their most suited posistion and not played in a posistion out of desperation.Suarez should not be played as CF, he should be played either as RF,LF or as a SS/CAM.

We have the players to fill the roles,borini,yesil or morgan should be starting as CF with a choice of suarez,sterling,assaidi,suso,pacheco,cole or downing starting at RF/LF. CAM should be a choice of gerrard or shelvey with the two deeper CM roles being filled by a choice from lucas,allen,sahin and henderson.
At RB with have johnson kelly and flannagan.
At LB we have Enrique and Robinson (downing anyone?)
At CB we have agger,skrtel,coates,carragher,wilson and wisdom.
GK its a choice of reina,gulasci and jones.

ok,obviously some players can play multiple posistions but i believe these are the players most suited to the roles, we are definately a little shallow at LB and GK and obviously we all want that star striker but you have to admit that if a couple of these kids come good we could start playing some pretty amazing football!

Give peas a chance :D

What current strikers?

Errr...suarez
yesil
suso

So we can have Liverpool rumours, Liverpool Banter and then a new one: Liverpool bitching.

Make your life easier and also us real fans can post without wading through the doom n gloom after 3 games!!

Agree. Some people wil always find something to moan about, we could do a league treble and they would still be bitching.

Hi been using this site since it started which at the time everyone was looking forward to having dani pacheco come into the first team as he looked like a great future star whats happened in the last few years? also i do feel everyone has been giving spearing a real hard time if anything he looked a stronger player than lucas when he first got into the team, give him few more seasons before we get him out the door, i do think his time at bolton will help him as he was thrown in the deep end last season with lucas`s injury.

phil

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha worst post I've ever read on here, spearing is a joke and should never be allowed to step back into the Liverpool team, one of the worst footballers I've ever seen, he doesn't add anything to the team at all, would he ever get into any other prem team apart from bottom teams? Exactly! Some fans don't have a clue and u sir are one of them

On the idea of Spearing getting into only the bottom Premier League teams, I very much doubt he would. Wigan, QPR, Norwich... They all have much stronger players than him. He's not even a Championship quality player in my opinion.

Spearing is no joke you muppet, whether he is good enough for LFC is debateable, what is not questionable is his commitment, if some of the players who played on Sunday had half of his grit, we would have done better.

Oh! and if you make disparaging remarks about OUR players again, put a name to your posts.

Hey Ed's I just wanted to find out some more info with this Airline deal that has just been announced? What do liverpool get out of this? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Not too much. Garuda gets the chance to show video adverts before home games or during half time - apparently it was much cheaper than TV advertising. I would expect deals to be offered to fans travelling to Indonesia - although to be honest Garuda's reputation is not the best. There will be some other advertising at the ground and Liverpool will get some payment - a few million perhaps.}

I would never fly Garuda anywhere. They have one of the worst accident records in aviation history. Quite ironic FSG chose Garuda. I'd liken us to a plane falling out of the sky at this moment in time. Let's hope Captain Rodgers pulls back on the stick and gets us flying again!

This information is on the caught offside web page for Liverpool. After the 'open letter' to Liverpool supporters, John Henry has penned an open letter to the Boston Red Sox fans which appear in stark contrast, proclaiming: "We continue to have the second highest payroll among the 30 clubs.
"Baseball is a 365-days-a-year sport for us. Our commitment to winning with the Red Sox is unabated."

If we needed any convincing that LFC is not a priority to FSG then here it is. Our wage bill is now low, our overall debt is low so now we look like an attractive business package. I believe they will sell as soon as they can find a buyer and they will make millions from the sale!

Why wouldn't they. All they get is abuse after doing so much for the club. We don't deserve them as owners.

Daveevad

This been covered & rubbished today already. Shame you can't be bothered to read the posts or look a little deeper into the facts.

According to Forbes.com, The Red Sox revenue in 2011 was $272 million and their player expenses were $187 million. So, yes, they DID spend big bucks on players' salaries, but they spent less than they earned. I suspect that FSG are trying to set up something similar in Liverpool, although it IS possible that they're just spending their days trying to find new ways to upset the most unstable 10% of the LFC fanbase.

By the way, the article also referred to the team as the "New York Red Sox," so I don't think much time was wasted on fact-checking.

John CT

Lol.... doing so much for the club!

Do honestly think they sat in their offices in America and heard of Liverpool's plight and said... "you know what, let's go an buy that club to help out those lovely fans. It's the least those fans deserve" and spent 200million+ just to help the club... Ouch, just fell off my chair laughing, can I sue for that! :-)

You are comparing apples with oranges - the US Baseball financing system is far different and far better than our system - do a little research and you'll find out!

Perhaps you should look at the Boston Red Sox payroll and state before J W Henry bought them. In 2 years of ownership they went on to win their first title in 86 years. And followed up with another on 3 years later. After that their payroll increased to the 2nd biggest in baseball. However they haven't won the big prize in 5 years and they are now rebuilding again. He was simply assuring the fans that they still have the same goals, same budget and same desire as they had before.

They've had to learn English football management as they went but they have and they will continue too. Give them a chance. They are winners who want to win, like to win and are good at it.

Oh, and they also own a largest premier NASCAR racing team

Yes, they will sell Liverpool.

Bankster Red.

It really doesn't matter what they say. It is what they do or not do that is more important.

What do you expect them to say to the Red Sox fans? "Sorry guys, we have to pass some money to the folks at Liverpool, else they're going to shoot our families when we visit them."

Sure they skimped on a million or two last month. And they didn't splurge another 100 million, like what they did last year. Shame on them...

Everybody in the Liverpool said this was going to be a long and difficult project, from the owners to Brendan Rodgers. Even Stevie said we are not going to win the EPL during this time. Guess what, 3 matches later we want them out. All of them,

Do you realize how stupid Liverpool fans look to the world now? Please show some support, solidarity and good common sense.

Don't be so naive as to be played for a fool by the media.

What is the score now with free agents in that can you still take them and then put them in your squad or not.
The reason I am asking is because of the story of Owen and Stoke.
The Premier league have said he made the squad by just one minute when he signed for them.
Presumably we have named our squad in accordance with the rules so can we sign someone else now or not?
thanks Ed's. {Ed002's Note - Free agents can be signed at anytime as long as a number of criteria are met.}

Hello eds can you answer this question to the best of your knowledge, with the supposed £550k a week savings from wages, would you think the club is still losing money? Cheers {Ed002's Note - With the additional £12M funding from Warrior but Standard Chartered still down £5M, with income to come from the Europa League and with the £30M net spending on players and fees I would expect, subject to what happens in January and final league position, the club to make a loss this year, but much less than the £50M or so of the past couple of years.}

Where do people stand with the legend status these days?

Gerrard is a legend - FACT. However, I notice a fair few on here slating him and that he is past his best etc etc. Surely, even though he is a legend, there comes a time where he has to be dropped or rested for the benefit of the current team. Why should he be picked just because of what he used to do 5 years ago?
How many games in a row does he now perform to his old world-class level?
In fact, make that how many games in a season does he do it?

Carragher - see above for Gerrard.

Reina - His form dropped when Hodgson was appointed and the goalkeeper coach was replaced. He has not performed at his consistent world class best for 2-3 seasons now. How many times is he being beaten at his near post? How many times does it look like he didn't even make an effort at a save?

We have to face facts that Gerrard should maybe only be played one game a week to get the best out of him.
Carragher should maybe be defensive cover now (either for injury or to give Agger, Skrtel or Coates a rest).
Reina should be dropped to see if that gives him a kick up the backside needed to sort his form out.

However Gerrard and Carragher perform in the rest of their Liverpool careers they will always be legends in my eyes. Their commitment, passion, loyalty and performances over the years have been immense and speak volumes. Reina deserves respect too and needs our support now more than ever.

Commented about this on an earlier post,Gerrard and Carra are still legends and always will be but unfortunately time is running out for them both,their playing time should be more carefully managed so the team gets the best out of the both of them.Running both of them into the ground benefits no one and can only shorten the time they have left to play,managing them carefully can ensure they are in a position to put in the stellar displays we know there capable of
NAVANRED

To the guy who posted the reply above, yes i agree with your comment they have served well but i agree with the original poster also. Times change and bodies age. The 2 outfield players should have been taking a back seat role by now and I certainly agree Teflon Reina seems to be getting away with some terrible performances and yet he starts every game. For me it's time to give Brad Jones or the young Hungarian keeper a crack. Gulasci is class and he will be a another player we lose if we don't let him rip soon.
Any takers for cashing in on Reina and using the money for a decent striker??? xD

Huws

Regarding Gerrard, yes he is a legend and should not be disrespected in the way he has been recently - we expect it of Manc supporters but never our own. I think he should be preserved better though. I don't think he is fit enough to be playing the AM role twice a week. I think BR should think about pushing him up at a CF, ESP with our lack of strikers. He still knows where the goal is, and is versatile enough to, probably, play any position on the pitch. He wouldn't have to do much running, let Suarez and Sterling do the hard work, just be in the right place at the right time. Also, I'd he genuinely has the dream of winning the PL he should seriously consider retiring fro
International football, while he can still hold his head high. I would hate for him just to be considered past it and not selected.

Seriously though, supporters need to lay off him. If he wanted to win the PL badly enough he could have left us many times, but no he stuck around coz he loves the club. That's worth so much more than people realise.

All this talk about league position and players for the scrap heap 3 games into the season take a reality check then a chill pill ,then tell us all when the season is at least half completed what u think and maybe people will stop laughing and take u seriously. by then u will have time to back up that statement and i hope stevie has a belter and see all youz same people telling us how good he is again get off his back and let him play G'DAY MATE

Reina is a loyal servant but is nowhere near becoming a legend. These days he is becoming quite a liability, it doesn't take much to beat him, and that's when he's not throwing them in. He needs to have a serious look at his preparation and application because he's costing us a lot.

The fact that he has no serious competition, and is well aware of this fact, must be having an effect on performance. But sadly this is the situation that we find ourselves in currently, where senior players under no real competition have far too much influence and status.

the Hicks/ Gillet era was obviously a disaster that nearly had the club in administration, and it was right then for the supporters to take a stand to remove them. I'm concerned now that "some" supporters believe when ever a decision or mistake is made by the owners which we disagree (and FSG admitted too) with they believe they should pipe up and get the owners to sell. Owning a football club from a business point is no quick buck. Sporting investments are notoriously risky, and in football more so. FSG will not put us in that position again the very fact they took us on should show they are in this long term, obviously ultimately they want to make the business worth considerable more then what they bought it for, thats business, but that doesn't just line their pockets that will benifit the fans too, better business better team, yes mistakes were made last transfer window, and to some extent this one but the sooner we realise for what ever reason the success of this club benefits both fan and owner and we are basically after the same thing, we need to realise we are not a gauranteed 4th spot team currently, and to be frank in the last 10 years minus Stevie G we probably never would of been, we are a million miles away from our league and europeans rivals business wise and team wise, its going to be a long journey until we are. I think we supporters should go back to doing what we do best, vocally supporting our team being the 12th man, in goods times and bad, and let the business people do what they do best and run the business, some of the negative posts on here are just fueling the press to keep the "anti-liverpool" stories going, which will put pressure on the team, manager and make things a whole lot worse. please please please lets get behind our team regardless keep our thoughts to ourselves, FSG are not going to bankrupt us, theres no need for revolution!!! this time

An excelent post above from john w henry

majestic69

There is more than just risk.
You have to understand the 'market and business', which FSG do not.
They are over extended financially, which is extremely bad news for LFC.
Continued 'poor decision making' and coupled with poor performances (due to a lack in squad resources), points the way to declining revenues, and loss of sponsor interest.
At some stage FSG will realise this and hopefully sell, or bring on additional investors.
I pray for that day.

After failing to even get a free agent striker, surely Liverpool should bring back Sinama

We should complain to uefa about are forward situation because when other teams get goalkeepers injured when transfer window is shut there allowed to get keepers in, why cant we do the same because we have no forwards and its not the fans fault so why should we suffer. Tommo {Ed002's Note - There are plenty of other teams with only a couple of experienced centre forward - Chelsea for example. Give the youngsters a chance - Pacheco, Ngoo, Morgan, Yesil.}

Sorry if it's been asked before, I couldn't find anything.

I didn't intend for the entire budget on a player to merely sell shirts. Kagawa has a purpose at United to fulfill on the pitch, in addition to his role as an ambassador to the Far East. My question was presented as an outlook to the future; should the club attempt to increase revenue from the massive Asian fanbase by allotting at least one squad role to an Asian lad? {Ed002's Note - The club make nothing from selling shirts. It really is not the way to run a football club.}

I understand that the shirt profit would go to Warrior. However, you can't honestly believe that Park Ji-Sung, later Kagawa, hasn't helped Man U's international brand immensely. {Ed002's Note - Kagawa is Japanese so the rest of Asia would not care, or in some cases (e.g. China) it may well have the opposite affect. How good was Lazio's brand in England when Gasgoigne signed? Grampus Eight's when Lineker signed? How many kids do you see in LA Galaxy shirts since Beckham signed. How many of the posters here have their Boston Bulldogs shirts on today (with Super Stevie Nicol on the back of course). Both Manchester United and Liverpool have brands which stand in their own right. I don't see Liverpool buying players from different countries for commercial rather than footballing purposes.}

I see tons of LA Galaxy shirts with Beckham on them, Ed! Course I live in LA....

They should have got rid of all the dead wood in the summer ie cole downing henderson and spearing should have been sold gutted it was only a loan they left it to late to sell and buy players bottom line

WOOOOOOOOW there are soome serious dumb asses on this site! I would personally feel better if our transfer kitty was spend educating some of the thick sh**s that post on here day in day out!

- FSG love their baseball team more than us
*** no they don't, they have 2 businesses and 2 fan bases - both require immediate attention and only 1 is making money - the red sox is a seperate business to liverpool and cannot be used as a support structure, ccan you imagine hhow the red sox fans would react if they heard FSG were using red sox funds to pay for liverpool when they require investment as well ***

- Our owners cant even attract a 32 year old owen or a 37 year old del piero!
*** WROOOOONG!!! they wont pay stupid money for players that don't deserve it, and are only required for 6 months and the players themselves don't want to be short terms options... they would would rather be well paid big fish in a small pond - did you ever think that perhaps we thought, these players could be good back ups for £?? but take it or leave it we don't need them badly enough to be mugged off for it! ***

I havent always agreed with FSG or some of the previous managers, and on occasion found myself questioning their decisions, but they will eventually get it right... it may not be this season it probably wont be next either but Liverpool will be here long after were dead and buried and there is nothing we can do change how things work at the moment, so man up, stop crying like spoilt little bitches and if you don't like it, don't watch it because all this "John Henry Loves the red sox more than us" and "John Henry pays his baseball team more than us" crap is getting seriously boring!

Danski {Ed002's Note - It is not possible to take an out of contract player on a contract to January only.}

Sorry Ed002 i didnt mean contract wise. I assume that come january they would perhaps look at a better quality players and therefore the likes of owen and del piero would fall further down the pecking order and get hardly any game time!

Danski {Ed002's Note - Why not give Pacheco and Morgan a chance if needs be?}

Any one who has Sky movies watch the new movie on Friday Money ball with Brad Pitt it is basically the story of how FSG work ( but not using their name) and succeed {Ed002's Note - Just to be clear it is about baseball and is of no relevance to football at all. I do how many stolen bases Gaston Ramirez could have gotten this year though.}

So Michael Owen, Allesandro Del Pierro and Ivan Klasnic have turned us down. What about Emile Heskey or Darius Vassell ? Luke

We made no offer to Del Piero, Owen or Klasnic. We will not be making a move Heskey or Vassell. Though considered, we are not looking into signing free-agents at this time. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool enquired after Del Piero.}

Del Piero probably had a quick look at the fan pages of both teams and thought bugger that lot, im off to the sun to be worshiped for playing football.

05 Sep 2012 16:22:42
Lets face it we will not make any high class, expensive or "marquee" signings in January or for the forseeable.
People posting about Llorente etc... clearly haven't read the statement from FSG / Henry !! If we can't come straight to the table and offer £6mill for Dempsey, which we clearly should have done weeks ago, then we are facing some tough times ahead !!

Hurray

Someone eith sense

All th posts - We'll have to overpay for Llorente etc. what a load of rubbish

Kenny wanted a striker in the january market last did he get one

He could have gotten Jelavic from Rangers. Nice signing by Everton at 5MM

What would be termed as a successful season for us?

Last Season:
Premier League: 8th
FA Cup: Runner's Up
Carling Cup: Winners
Result: Kenny out! Poor Season!

According to me this season our target should be atleast a top 6 finish which looks tough but not impossible and atleast one trophy be it Europa League or FA Cup or else for me this season will be a failure.

Success for me, to avoid relegation, over achieve in all cup comps even europe also I win the Euro millions that has rolled over all year to a nice £500 mill, give Brendan half of it to get us back up there with the big boys.....CM68

FSG do not see us a cup club.

If fsg wernt gonna spend why change the manager and sack k.k they should have give him another season as it is we got a new manager who dosent like a lot of the players he got and no money to spend its not logical the supporters would have stayed loyal to kk longer than rogers and we wouldnt have the fiasco were in now

1) Playing attractive football - clear evidence that the system BR is trying to implement is coming together.
2) 50+ goals
3) Top 8 finish
4) One SF in the 3 cups

Winning a tournament, top 4, etc. are setting unrealistic expectations given the squad we have now (I don't mean first XI - I am referring to depth and size of squad).

To the top post, you missed one crucial success out in your list, which fsg will be grateful for: Europa cup qualification via the League Cup-Worth several £million.

Surely two cup finals and European football is a measure of progress. Seems some posts here would prefer to have come 4th in the league. I don't consider Spurs had that much of a successful season. Only LFc, Chelsea and City actually won anything last season.. Jmac

05 Sep 2012 16:12:15
HI Ed's

Is there any free agents of potential tha could be a great impact player for the reds up front this season. where does are interest lay? {Ed002's Note - Read the posts please.}

05 Sep 2012 16:07:42
I give up on our management, we can't even attract 37 year old Del Pierro.

Or maybe del piereo is looking fOr one last big payday and knows he won't get that at Liverpool along wIth regular playing time
Huddz red

Then leave the club already!!

If you were 37 would you wanna play against cloggers like Shawcross on a cold,windy & wet November in Stoke or soak up the sun in the final years of your career in sunny Australia, nuff of the doom & gloom its only football mate.....Wirral Red

Haha such a douche!! - you ever think that perhaps we want a striker but not bad enough to offer a stupid package to a player who probably couldnt cut it in the prem, especially when sydney are happy to make him the highest paid player in their league.... ever!

i would prefer the liverpool board used the striker money on common sense classes for half of their fan base!

One thing I've seen posted here recently is the belief that since the owners are 'yonks' they don't understand the business of football in England. What seems to be implied by this is they are crazy for thinking it is possible to run a profitable football club and they should have understood that it in reality owning a club simply means being willing to dump unlimited funds into it because they're so passionate about the club they should be willing to sustain losses of several £M every year. If this is what you expected and think is the 'way of things' in English football, then I would agree that the owners and those who believe this way are definitely not on the same page.

This makes no sense at all. Is this really how those that feel this way think the club should be run? Forever losing money and always in debt? This is a ridiculous way to run any sort of business.

Perhaps instead we should just expect the players to play for free? Stevie and Carra clearly love the club, why don't we expect them to just donate their salaries back to the club (I'm sure an extra ~£200k per week could help fund a new signing)? The supporters love the club so why don't they just donate 10-20% of their wages directly to the club? Both ridiculous notions, yes? So why should there be an expectation that the owners, simply because they're the owners, be willing to continually fund the club out of their pocket?

As long as Roman (now in his 11th year at chelsea) and the sheik plough money into Chelsea and Citeh clubs like LFC will never have a chance

Sad but true

I am with u..

City spent 35m on transfer deadline day.
There will never be any chance of us competing with that.

I think we need to realise that we may not get to our 19th title for a very, very long time.

Roman is passionate about his club.

Big distinction though!!!.
Chelsea is not a "means of economic survival" for Roman, he has other far more lucrative business dealings, it is his hobby and passion, much the same for the Sheik from Man City.
Unlike FSG and John Henry, Tom Warner etc, who regard it as a intergral part of their business empire.

There is a massive difference!.

Ed do you believe there is a chance of danko lazovic coming as a free agent? he is only 29 and he scoring record is good for zenit {Ed002's Note - Unlikely as he is still talking to another club.}

Ed do you know which club? {Ed002's Note - Besiktas.}

Wow

I just been reading these negative posts about FSG.

I didnt realise we had so many multi miliionaire fans on here that must be really loaded and know how to manage sporting investments.

I've got an idea! Why doesnt one of these 'business men' buy Liverpool from FSG!

Then, with their obvious wealth, buy all the best players in the world.

They want FSG out and from their posts, they are more suitable owners as they know where we are going wrong and they can spend spend spend.

So rather than slag off FSG who stopped us going into administration put your money where your mouth is and buy the club.

Wait a minute.... I dont think half these people posting have the millions they are talking about...

Ive just realised these guys who want FSG out are the sort of persons that go on Dragons Den. Id love see one of them go one with their ideas to buy Liverpool....torn to shreds springs to mind.

Real fans support the club. Who would want to own a club with fans like some of these persons!

Let adopt your view point and put up with failure indefinitely

I honestly believe the majority of negative posts are from trolls who are not Liverpool fans/supporters and some from those who "support" Liverpool on a part-time basis i.e when the team is winning/doing well. There have been occasional posts from concerned fans asking genuine questions (which is understandable) and the Eds have answered these as best as they can. And it is refreshing to read many, many post from genuine fans who understand what the Owners and the club are trying to achieve.

Hi Eds, we can judge that the arsenal game was another bad day at the office so why couldn't we play the way we did against city? Do you think the lack of consistency will be our downfall this season? I feel team has not gelled as of yet. I know it takes time but I think we need to get behind our team and manager and start thinking positively.

I am sure when one of our young guns or other vetrans gets firing on goal we will see the confidence get back. We do have quality on the team but we need to play with confidence something I feel is lacking due to the recent shocking transfer window. Hopefully we can get some spark back to get us going!!

RedZed {Ed001's Note - personally I think the complete lack of atmosphere from the crowd was a huge part of it.}

I think what happened Friday had an effect & the fact that Gerrard is not the player he used to be infact he was pretty awful........Rodders

05 Sep 2012 15:32:07
Hi Eds
What's the crack with UTD signing Henriquez today? Is that a pre-contract agreement?
If not are there any players in the S.American leagues we could be interested?
Why the negativity about us no longer being a CL club? It's still very early days in BR's reign and the owners may have learnt the errors of their ways with the reaction from the supporters. Maybe by January they will stump up some cash for BR to after some bigger names.
Let's not be too much doom and gloom straight away, and not tar FSG with the same brush as that of Hicks and Gillett.
Great site. Keep the faith. {Ed001's Note - he was signed a while ago, they were just awaiting international clearance etc.}

They are not likely to 'stump up some cash' without sales. I suppose they could take a loan (i.e. increase the club's debt) to do so, but otherwise we don't have a giant pot of money somewhere that they've been hiding.

05 Sep 2012 15:29:24
Ok liverpool fans
Fantasy football here just to see how stupid some fans are:
Imagine...please try really hard.....

Messi decides he is sick of La Liga and wants to play in the prem.
For some reason he says I want to play the liverpool way, im drinking buddies with Rodgers, and they have the Welsh Iniesta Allen, so Im Kop bound.
John W Henry bangs loads of debt on the club and makes the worlds biggest ever transfer of............150 million quid.

So we start the season with the best player in the world.

And after 3 games we have 1 point and he hasn't scored.

Would you want him sold ? Get rid?

Cos lets face it thats 3 games we are talking bout!

Or would you give him time ?

Cos he cost a bucket load of coin and is a world class player ?

JOKERS

New young manager
New young players
Giving young reserve players a chance already

Maybe money can get you players
But the fans have to be fans and support the team
Let our rivals sling mud at our team
Not us

We are the laughing stock of the premiership that's bad enough for me.

Indeed lfc is a laughing stock, we have been buying overpriced players for years. paying too big wages, letting players go on the cheap, forcing decent players to leave by chasing rubbishter replacements, before Rogers took over our only decent bit of business was buying torres and then flogging him for £50 million. But then we went and wasted £35 million of that money on andy carrol!!!

at last in BR we have a manager buying very talented players at decent prices!
Give BR 2 more transfer windows and criticise hime then , all you fifa/championship manager numpties don't have a clue!!!

To be honest I don't what has happened with Liverpool fans.
The atmosphere at Anfield is non-existent at times.
The support for your own players has also gone.
It makes for an easier visit these days!!

I remember the crowd encouraging the team the whole time and getting behind players not quite performing or hadn't scored recently (crouch probably being the last player that went on a long non-scoring streak, but was given great support).

It's easy for non-lfc supporters and even journalists to look at sites like this and see how bad it all is for LFC.

Attacking the owners, the managers, the players even attacking each other.

So sad!!

What's the point of your analogy??...if LFC actually signed Messi or someone of his ilk that and we were in panic mode, that would be one thing. Last I looked, we don't have anyone even resembling Messi's shadow...we had Carroll, Adam and sadly, still have Henderson...so, to answer your pointless question...no, after 3 games it's not too early to panic.

...and to put in perspective, this shoddy act of LFC--on and off the field--has not been limited to a mere 3 games...at BEST it's been the entire 2012 calendar year...at worst it's been multiple seasons on the trot.

I think fans are just fed up been railroaded. camolli should be hung for treason against lfc for waisting 100 million
amagine if harry rednap had 100 million he would have doubled your money atleast .john henry to come out the same week with two letters one to say sorry to the lfc fans and two to say we are the second biggest wage bills with the boston red sox. i watch every game every season without fail there is little to be excited about i do reallise the club is loosing money but unless you offload the players who are not performing and are on rediculous wages it will always be this way .in a way i didnt want del pierro or heskey or owen they are to old and injurys come with there wages so what we need is a magician who can identify what players we need to get rid off on high wages and bring in pure tallent such as allen the answer is harry rednap unless brendan rogers turns things around in a hurry and john henry live up to your responsibilties and dont leave your manager with only two strikers for half the season i for one would love to see henry getting involved and come to liverpool when both windows open and secure the quality we need ynwa

How did Comoli waste £100m,
Torres bought for £20.2m sold for £50m
Carroll bought for £35m Possible sale £18m.
Both transactions are linked, we only bought Carroll to replace Torres. Over the two transactions we made a profit of
£12,000,000- We all know we overpaid for Andy but so did Chelsea for Torres.BR has stated we can't afford a £35 M player sat on the bench, if we have accepted £18m from WH for Andy he is a £18m player not £35m .

I really can't understand why sections of fans are looking to sign players like Owen, Drogba, Del Pierro. All class players, but either too old, too expensive in terms of wages or too injury prone.
If you look at the players we have signed and managed to keep hold of, the window hasnt been too bad at all - as has already been stated. Signing the above players is totally false economy. We have some excellent youngsters coming through in Morgan and Yesil. Yes they are still very young, but remember at 18 Michael Owen was playing and scoring in the world cup.
Give Rodgers the chance to work with and develop the youngsters that we already have instead of wasting money on rather expensive sticking plasters. If players are good enough then the are old enough.

i think we all need to stop panicking, we will be alright. we wont get champions league football this year, we wont mount a serious title challenge for at least 2 to 3 years. what we do have is a strong spine of the team in reina agger skirtel allen gerrard sahin lucas(when hes back). i honestly beleive if liverpool play to their strengths maybe change system/tactics. to stop us losing games. for me at the minute when liverpool seem to making passes the team seems to be spread to far thats why we come undone against arsenal and they basically ran thru us in the second half. west brom was a freak game not taking anything away from wba, but agger being sent off was why we lost, city we where brilliant apart from a lapse in concentration. its not all doom and gloom, if we cant score dont get beat and see where we are in jan. i personaly dont want a free transfer now and i also think its to soon for likes of morgan to come through maybe another year or 2. but lets not all jump on the band wagon. we need a calm head and alot of support if what we have now isnt good enough we can make them good enough. we have seen it with our own eyes in ISTANBULL ! now lets go and smash sunderland and chase the other gang of people down the m6. when we are together we are strong.

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark

At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown

Walk on walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown

Walk on walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk

You'll never walk
You'll never walk alone.

Agree with most of your post but Reina gotta go for me, his heart aint in it anymore, total sh**e for last 2 seasons.

Oh please, sentimental ****

Dang, FSG playing FFP too early when we could at least spend in just this transfer window then continue FFP next season :/ I honestly feel they misread the FFP situation.

Expansion is a failing business plan FSG, just ask Wal-Mart who won't let it go and it will probably be the end of them too.

Tesco seem to disagree....

Hi eds, this is a question to ed001 in particular. Ed001, what is your opinion of Steven Gerrard? I'm not talking about his ability, but his attitude and commitment to the cause. Against arsenal when he gave away possession for the 1st goal he failed to bust a gut to get back and defend and instead jogged. This is becoming a regular occurance for him. Is gerrard another Michael Owen in disguise or am I just overreacting?
My next question is regarding his possible moves to Chelsea and real Madrid over the years. Did he want to move on or did he genuinely stay because he loves the club? The reason I am asking this is because I am unsure about his feelings for this club. Robbie Fowler wouldnt have even thought about leaving Liverpool no matter how bad things got. I would really appreciate some feedback.
Jim Thompson {Ed001's Note - I don't believe there to be any question about his love for the club, that is not in doubt. There is a very real question about his attitude on and off the pitch though. The problem is that he is forgetting exactly what it means to be on that pitch wearing the red shirt. He is allowing personal differences to become more important to him than the club is. He has been given so much leeway, even now the majority of fans are still talking of him like he is some kind of god, that he is forgetting that he needs to earn his place. His lack of work rate defensively can be partly attributed to coaching though, Rafa was always on at him not to chase back and to pick his runs, so that he could last the full 90mins. What that has meant is that we get a 60% Gerrard for 90mins of a match, instead of 100% for 60mins and then him fading. Personally I would rather have the 100% and take him off when he tires, if need be. Did he want to move? Yes and no. He wanted to win the league, he wanted the money, but he didn't want to leave Liverpool to get them. Would he have gone? Yes, he was certainly ready to sign for Chelsea.}

05 Sep 2012 15:40:38
Hi Eds do you think that when BR left Swansea with a blueprint of which players or player types to get during the summer prior to leaving and that their new manager has implemented? {Ed002's Note - No.}

05 Sep 2012 15:17:11
Eds is possible 4 Liverpool to buy somebody out of the last year of their contract and if so is there any talk of it? {Ed002's Note - No it is not possible.}

05 Sep 2012 15:16:54
At least there's a positive in this transfer window. WE DIDN'T OVERPAY FOR BRITISH 'TALENTS'. Although it might seems bad, but im glad we only wanted to loan sturridge and not but him, hes gonna cost a fortune when we can buy other better strikers for lesser amount.

05 Sep 2012 15:15:06
Over here in the states Mr. John Henry has just sent out another letter to red sox fans. In this letter he states that the Red sox have the second highest salary in baseball and his commitment to winning is second to none. Just rubbing salt in LFC's wounds.

Red Sox have the second highest payroll in baseball because they have the second highest revenue behind the Yankees. Henry will spend whatever he can take in, but not more. He is a good owner he just needs time and patience to sort out the Hicks/Gillette mess as well as their own early errors. I just wish they hadn't panic bought Carroll and waited with the 50MM from Torres for the summer.

How is this rubbing salt in the wounds of LFC? The Red Sox are, for the most part, a profitable business. LFC has one of the top 5-6 highest wage bills in the PL and, like the Red Sox, has been drastically underperforming to the size of the wage bill.

Actions have been taken at both clubs to try and rectify the situations. I think it fair to question the owners for maybe not getting good advice or having proper/better advisors or management in place at both LFC and the Red Sox, but questioning them for not being supportive enough financially or supporting one team more than the other is ridiculous.

05 Sep 2012 15:14:26
ED02?

Im gonna push my luck and ask you more questions.
I take it a new build is off the agenda( baring a Shiek I cant see the financial benifit of such a huge spend and the debt it would heap on the club)

So I take it a refurb and naming rights on Anfield seems like the only realistic way forward bar ground share.

So what kinda of capacity do you think would make sense for FSG and LFC and what kind of figure could we get on a naming rights deal? {Ed002's Note - I would suspect a new build is most unlikely at this juncture. Eventually they will look to a number below 60k.}

I take it we are still years away from any work commencing? {Ed002's Note - Planning permission would be required.}

Ed2 why below 60k? why not 65k?tanx

majestic69 {Ed002's Note - There is agreement that anything above 60k requires additional infrastructure changes (e.g. transportation) which the club would need to fund.}

Ok tanx. do u reckon we could be close to seeing the stadium redevelopement?dosent seem like it will ev er happen

majestic69 {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. Planning has to come first.}

05 Sep 2012 15:12:54
Apart from defense whole team has a new look. New players but still same problem persists as last season. I think someone has used black magic and put a curse on us to not score..

Just kidding guys.. But still why the hell we are not taking our chances.. Maybe once team settles down we will see lots of goals..

Arsenal also has some changes and they also didn't score in the first two games.. So guys give the lads and specially Rogers some time and our full support..

We are creating chances.. It wont be long before we start taking them..

If we go to Sunderland and take 3 points, then beat the mancs at Anfield, I'm sure we'l all feel a lot better.

These International breaks are a pain in the a***, but let's all stay positive !

I love dreamers

Yeah, he should have just started crying his eyes out and predicted we would lose both games, just like most muppets on here are doing.

05 Sep 2012 15:11:59
eds i love u guys but u cant tell me to trust fsg anymore the more concern about baseball than football and thats why we need a new owner srry to say it but going into the market just to get loan player thats not liverpool

05 Sep 2012 15:10:45
Did you know that in 2011 Fenway Park was the most expensive place to see a baseball game. This is the future for LFC fans, a mediocre team with sky-high stadium prices, good luck with FSG . . .

Why don't opposing fans with big mouths not have the guts to say who they support? They must be either jealous or ashamed!

MR EM

What!.
No fantastic new stadium for LFC, I am truly shocked!.
We have been conned by all these "fast talking American Businessmen"!!.

05 Sep 2012 15:04:46
Ed can you please post this , I would just like to remind all the "fans" that this is our worst start to a season in 50 years. And who was the manager the last time this happened? Bill Shankly . Stop acting like chelsea fans , we're three game into the season and have played 2 champions league teams, one of which Is the best team in the country. Fans need to get on to the fact that we are not the club we where . We are no longer a top 4 team , we are bearly better than everton , there are at least 5 better teams than u in the league, we can't compete with city man u and Chelsea , they are in a different league to us, as are there players in a different league to ours.

I agree, it is just three games but once again I don't think people are upset because of the three games but rather th decisions that have led us there made by or not made by the owners . . .

At last someone that talks sense.

Read on the internet so its probably fake but a chinese billionaire if offered, would buy the club. He was interested at the same time as FSG took over but obviously FSG got us. Any truth? {Ed002's Note - Must be the return of Kenny Huang.}

Think his name's Ka Ching !

While we all know that H&G meant well (FSG too); we all also know what they say about good intentions . . .

05 Sep 2012 14:33:08
Can you please tell me what happened to Texiera? I thought he joined last season, but returned home because of injury or illness. Is he a Liverpool player?
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - He is, in the reserves.}

What is the general opinion on him? Does he have a bright future?

His futures so bright he has to wear shades

So what's going to happen in 2 years? Will we have a Premier League and then a FFP Premier League because as it stands now more clubs in the world run at a loss and fewer are "financially stable". FFP is just a way for some owners to justify being cheap with their "investments" while milking loyal foreign fans. The only way to fight them is to get them out or boycott them totally.

Well you boycott them but it will only make you a traitor to Liverpool F.C.....go support ManCIty instead...we dont want ya

Bazingaa

Loving some thing and loving the owners of said thing are two completely different things . . . so you go support some thing else

Why boycott? The owners have invested they have spent close to 30m this summer as well as over £100m last year. Is that not investment? Just cause we missed out on a few signings at the last minute everyone is going mad. Loaning Carroll may have sounded bad at the time but he's injured for nearly 2 months. If we kept him we would have had to pay his wages of nearly £1m for those 2 months and he would have been crocked so we would be in the same position. We outplayed man city but didn't play well against Arsenal but they played better than expected. Plenty of time and if he do Man Utd everyone will be singing the praises of the team again.

No there not...Boycotting Liverpool F.C. because you dont like the owners only hurts the team.

Bazingaa

These owners are not LFC, and neither were the last owners!

I doubt your old enough to remember the last owners lol

Bazingaa

Simply put.
If you are not happy, then don't support it.
Boycotting is a very reasonable means, to getting a point across.
Never Assume anything.

05 Sep 2012 14:12:22
does anyone get the feeling that we never should got rid of kenny jus needed a top class striker and a midfielder

Kenny was pretty poor and defo wasted alot of money but if we had of kept his squad intact and only added a top top striker then yes we may have had a tilt at top 4. But as it stands now I cant see us getting in the top 10.

I agree, LFC were actually getting better while i'm sure the owners at the same time didn't like the bottom line of it, but LFC were actually looking like a football team finally.

Kenny would probably have bought Matt Jarvis for £22 million and Steven Fletcher for £24 million, so no.

Looking better are u nuts didnt u see the second half of the season mate u realy havnt a clue

Commoli did the negotiations, a football manager doesn't have financial sign off. Only the board sign off financial transactions.

Do you think Alex Ferguson was sitting opposite Arsene Wenger hammering out the deal for van Persie!

Manager asks for player, finance executive and commercial director try to fit into the budget, if the forecast is feasible and they think they have the cash to cover salaries etc then the Board can sign it off.

I know the KD haters, most of whom I am sure are quite young, given the spelling mistakes, think KD was sitting there with cheque book buying players.

Despite a striker like Carroll having a good track record, and getting Newcastle flying past the likes of Swansea in the championship, the pressure proved too much.
Quite how an unproven Borini justifies £11m is more bizarre. He has no record.

We finished 8th after spending a fortune. So no. If we finish 7th we have improved and be in a lot better financial position with a younger side. Your point, Like Mo Farah, carries little weight.

He would have continued to buy over priced british players (the post about fletcher and jarvis above, precisely), the likes of downing, henderson, carragher, adam, spearing etc would all still be seen as starting players, good enough for the club which would mean Kenny would have no need to buy need players to replace them! His tactics were completely bizarre at times, just thing how many times you sat watching us, and thought 'what is he doing?' Sacking Kenny was the way forward, however i'm not completely convinced rodgers was a better option than someone like Van Gaal, I think he would have took us to the top.

Ok, so then if we finish 8th or less this year will this team get dismantled, too?

Finishing 7th with no cup runs or finals is not success in my opinion. Finishing 4th would be a success.

The Irish Rover

Winning the prem would be a success but being we are being realistic.

05 Sep 2012 14:09:10
The three strikers we let go in the window scored a grand total of 12 league goals between them last season (and in fairness to Bellamy, he got half of them).
It would be nice to see our fans backing the likes of Borini, Morgan, Yesil to better that return (and for a lot less wages..)
Get over who we havent got, and get behind BR and his players.

BigBadBen

Shocking, someone who is talking sense.

BigBadBen you pal are the most deluded liverpool fan ever, you have got the most tainet goggles on ever, your the type of fan even if we signed titus bramble, markus bent or peter enkelman {ex villa keeper } you would say there good signings, get real will you and be honest for once instead of being so deluded. ASHY

BigBadBen, people here will yell at you if support your opinion with facts. Never let the facts get in the way of a good opinion. I'm not sure why Ashy doesn't like your goggles, though, or who Titus, Markus and those other Romans are, but apparently one of them owned a villa.

John CT

How is he deluded? it's a fact that the strikers we got rid of couldn't score...Andy Carroll scored 4 goals in 35 games...your only arguement is someting about us signing bramble? and you have the cheek to throw the word "deluded" about lol

Bazingaa

John CT have you just finished school you clown because you make no sense you t-t, if you dont know who them players are you dont know much about footie.

ASHY what the hell are you talking about? What a stupid post. BigBadBen is right, we will have to make do with what we have and give them our full support. Like it or not were stuck with it, at least till January, so deal with it.

WBLFC

Right then ASHY, I've taken my 'tainet goggles' off, and read your reply...
When you read my post, did any of it sink in, or did just generate a random reply in your tiny mind? It had no relevance to what I said in any way. My point was that we should support the new recruits and the youngsters to perform better than the mediocrity they replaced. I supported AC when he arrived. After 18 months, it is pretty obvious he doesn't cut it. Borini and the youngsters have had THREE games not 18 months....
The only one is deluded is you, as you seem to be a better judge of talent than the professionals...
Did you also think Lucas was useless after a couple of games? Thought so.
If your going to be critical, try and be lucid and constructive, because babbling just makes you look personic.

Hi Eds and fellow (supposedly) supporters

If you guys earn more than me, could you please give me some of your money?
I find it completely unfair that you may earn more than me, and because I support myself, I find it only right that you should subsidize the difference between our pay packets.

Layman's terms for the reason why FSG will not put Red Sox money into LFC.

MUSHROOM

I agree, and it's why they stand behind FFP, they are trying to run a UK sports team like a USA sports team and thats part of the problem.

I'm sorry I don't quite follow?
They run a successful USA sports team, why wouldn't it work in the UK? If you have more money coming in than going out, surely that is success and you can buy/spend on better players.
If you're wanting them to put more money into the club than it can cope with, this will increase debts and put us on the brink like H&G did.
What most fans want is a sugar daddy. We haven't got one and I wouldn't want one. When the sugar daddy gets bored and decides to cach in all his assets, what will be left?

MUSHROOM

Didn't they just get rid of a bunch of players to make their bottom line look better (Like LFC) and I'd bet they won't put all that money back on that team.

^ I bet they will. They always do. Look into it.

^ LOL, that implies tha their team now is better or equal to the team then, guess again fool.

Question for the eds. When Assaidi is healthy is there any chance he can play a central striker role? Thought I read that he has mostly played wide, but wanted to know if he has ever played centrally. If he can he may offer some finish to the team.

YNWA {Ed002's Note - Assaidi is perfectly healthy. He has played as a striker before, so sure.}

05 Sep 2012 13:48:24
How about using gerrard as a striker? His long range shooting seems to have deserted him and he doesnt have the legs he once did for the box to box running. I think its worth a go.

And a proven goalscorer would make sense upfront with young talent to replace him later in the game.

Gerrard is a deadly finisher

05 Sep 2012 13:40:55
After Liverpool announced that Garuda partnership, all is forgiven. Thank you Ian Ayre

Is there anything that people wont moan about?

^ apparently not . . .

05 Sep 2012 13:35:37
Like my fellow kopites really disappointed with the season start and lets be honest Champions league football is a long way off.
Whoever is to blame for the debacle what was transfer deadline day is immaterial.
Rather than dwell on it lets move on and BR should cease this opportunity to bleed the youngsters into the first team.
Lets be honest we are not going to be in a releagation battle or vying for the league.
I would rather finish mid table having bled the youngsters for the season than finish outside top 4 with owen or drogba in the team

Assiadi
shelvey in for gerard
sama
suso
coady
morgan
coates
yesil
sterling
wisdom
ecclestone
teixera
ibe
ngoo

all quality up and coming youngsters who wont win every game but their developement at this stage will be invaluable.
I have nothing but admiration for both carragher and gerard and the service they have provided our great club during the last decade however, its time they realise they are no longer heads of the court and should be dropped and carragher should not be on the bench at all allowing coates and sama to grow

2 week break time for BR to work with the youngsters while the big time charlies are away on international.

If you cant support us when we lose dont support us when we win

RED DEAN

It's a waste of time trying to get through to the clowns on here mate. Because we aren't playing like Barca after 3 games Rodgers needs to go, and so do FSG. We are going to be relegated you see.

Nathan eccleston's current club blackpool he is no longer a liverpool player.

You do not know for certain that we will not be in any relegation battle this season. Crystal ball much . . .

05 Sep 2012 13:35:36
Look, let's look at this in the right perspective :

a) FSG I do believe are in this for the long term - why ? They have been at Boston a long time ? They have no plans that we know about to move away from there ?
They did win the title there.....yes ?

b) Why is there such a knee jerk reaction after admittedly one bad match against a very good Arsenal side ? at WBA at least we created alot of chances

Action Plan - WE MUST GET BEHIND BRENDAN !

He has given nothing but praise the club since he has been here and feels it is a privelege to manage us. I do believe he will be a success

And.... if we do back Brendan publicly the players will have to toe the line if we are led to believe there is unrest in the dressing room

I didn't want Carroll to go but the manager has to manage the way he wants.

He has a tough few months ahead of him and he should have been backed with another striker at least, but we can't do much about this until Jan

The alternative ? - he may walk ? Back him !

I don't recall queue of so called top notch mangaers wanting to take the reigns last time the job was advertised ? Give him time and I am sure he will deliver

Remember Shankly said if you can't support us when we lose don't bother when we are winning

It's three games in not thirty !

REDBOY

They are only 10 years in with the Sox and really haven't been successful since 2007 with them.

Baseball has been very profitable for FSG. Liverpool has not been.

Not since winning the 2 world series they have been running more and more at a loss every year since.

05 Sep 2012 13:34:38
Ed can you post this please as I want to see what the general consensus is by the agree and disagree buttons

GERRARD IS FINISHED

regards Jimbo

This needs definition.

Have we seen the end of the Stevie G. that could win 3 games in a week for Liverpool on his own? most probably.

Have we still got a solid leader in the middle, a matchwinner with the ability for genius? Yes

To the second poster

What Stevie Gee have you been watching lad, he played one good game in the last 12 months against the Bitters and he got a hat trick, that is all, we need to get rid and spend the £150k per week on a couple of players who have passion left in them, harsh reality but true

Also we need to get rid of BR now because we will be in the bottom three by Xmas if we dont, we do not have the players to play his way, and before you say anything Swansea did

I dont understand this get rid of br nonsense hes just startin of give him some time.

Get rid ov BR after 3 league games get a GRIP u clown

05 Sep 2012 13:09:24
If FSG are unable to sustain the ownership of two sports clubs (franchises), why don't they just sell the one.
Clearly their focus is on the Red Sox, and they don't have the money to sustain LFC.
At this rate, we will never see a new or redeveloped stadium, or sustained growth and development, because they do not have the resources or inclination to do so!.
Over extended are FSG.

Funny thing is that in Boston they say the same thing. that FSG is too focused on Liverpool and not paying enough attention to the Red Sox. Funny how not winning causes everyone to think you aren't focused.

Maybe FSG just aren't any good at what they do and should go back to speculating investments.

05 Sep 2012 13:05:26
With Dani Pacheco being included in the Europa league squad does this mean that Brendon Rodgers is looking for extra striking options within our own ranks again?

Vic {Ed002's Note - He is a Liverpool player included in the squad - it should not be a surprise.}

Think suso should get the call up ed? {Ed002's Note - I am sure there will be a cameo or two.}

05 Sep 2012 12:47:19
Ed. With Liverpool saving around 10m in player's wages that have left this not including insurance and agent fees. will we see this money go into new players in January? {Ed002's Note - It is not how the finances work, sorry.}

05 Sep 2012 12:46:17
With the announcement that Garuda Indonesia have become our new official airline there are strong rumours coming from sources in Indosia that they are the front runner when coming to naming rights at Anfield. As indicated by other posts recently a decision is due any day now.

I think there will only be naming rights if we built a new staduim mate and we're not. We're supposed to be redeveloping Anfeild.

Scott78 {Ed002's Note - The great issue is would the owners look for a naming rights deal to fund the redevelopment of Anfield?}

Don't hold your breathm
FSG couldn't find £1m for Dempsey, they certainly don't have enough for a stadium or redevelopment.
They are woefully short of money.
Austerity measures at LFC.
The club will not develop until there is a change in ownership.
Time to leave FSG, and take your bag full of promises with you.

Maybe MRS Henry spent the £1m on clothes, makeup, etc, and MR Henry on 'Botox, Hairpiece, and Viagra'.
Comedey and tragedy are FSG.

I don't really see the issue with the naming rights if it meant a shed load of money to redevelop the stadium and improve it. In Newcastle, they play at Sports Direct Arena, yet whenever I've been in Newcastle everyone still calls it St James' Park. It will always be Anfield, regardless of who sponsors the ground. If it benefits the stadium and the fans, more of which will come surely to visit the outcome of the renovation (which, in turn, would produce more income for LFC) then isn't that a good thing?

Hi Eds

How do you put up with all the bitching from our so called fellow Reds? {Ed062's Note - ignore it mate}

05 Sep 2012 12:43:53
hey guys its all going to be ok, cole is on the come back trail. sure he may score a goal this season.

And if that goal gives us 3 points and keeps us up then it would be priceless.

Can't we try persuade Fowler to get his shooting boots back on. He was a prospect for Blackpool and Wednesday back in March.
I'm sure his still got some goals in him.
I could always dream.

FowlerGod.

I'm so glad you're not the owner/manager if you're wanting Fowler back. In his day he was superb, but that was in his day, not no more.

MUSHROOM

It would give every1 a boost, fans & players. So that can only be a good thing having him around teach the striker on how to poach goals. Pay as you play contract, win win situation. Cant c a downside!!

05 Sep 2012 12:36:38
If anyone on here has seen or know much about young Samed Yesil could you please give your opinion on the lad, would he make an impact at this stage? Is he a natural goalscorer?

Thanks
Ian :)

He is a better option than Owen would have been, so that's a start.

05 Sep 2012 12:20:40
Hi Eds, firstly, thanks for the good work you put in. I'm on the site regularly when on a skive break at work, it makes a great read.
Quick question as we are being linked with the likes of Owen, Heskey or Del Piero.
Is there any chance of Rush, Barnes or big Al Hanson?
All are out of playing contracts but have great C.V's.
Rush has lost his legs a little but has great position awareness and can surely toe poke a goal or two?!
Barnes is a beast, just been watching his best bits on YouTube, surely it won't take long to get him back to full fitness?!
Hanson as cover for Agger and Skrtel? He can definitely talk a good game.
What are the chances?
Thanks again for your efforts, from an LFC fan who's on the verge of hanging himself.
Dave H
Ps, we'll be back up there soon. Have faith!

05 Sep 2012 12:26:42
SoS making afool of themselves. What spirit of Shankly when they cant even back the team who needs oursupport most, instead of threats and pressure from their own supporters who should be supporting them (obviously) through thick and thin, like what Shankly said. What a disgrace, unless they are making a reference to FSG blaming Ayre, which would be hilarious.

The team needs the support of the fans, true, but also and more importantly, it should have the support of the owners as well, and I think many LFC fans see FSG as couldn't be bothered by LFC and it's collective problems, just releasing statements when they feel they need to. I for one am glad for SOS and agree that we need someone here (that can make the decisions that are necessary) for LFC at all times.

SoS play an important role if you don't understand that - too bad

SOS = Clowns. They think they speak for all Liverpool fans, but they don't speak for me. I cant stand them, they wont be happy untill they are managing the team themselves.

If it wernt for fsg there mite not be a liverpool fc .sos need to move on simple

SOS LOL!
Just a militant bunch of trouble causing
Far far left socialist with a axe to grind.
If it wasn't about football they would
Find another cause!

05 Sep 2012 12:18:25
Eds, why don't you create a 'moaning muppets' section on the site. Then all the dom and glooom merchants can go and cry their eyes out on there rather than spouting their rubbish on here. Just a thought.

You would be on it too, for moaning about the moaners . . .

Or perhaps have a section for people who think everything is fine with our club when clearly it isnt

What happens if your not a muppet?

Most posts on here are the following:

wahhh, wahhh FSG out, BR out, wahh, wahh, we're going to be relegated, why didnt we spend £200 million in the summer, wahh, wahhh Clint Dempsey would have saved us as he is as good as Messi, wahhhh, wahhhh.

I'm sorry but some of us here don't want to listen to you pedal your thoughts....

And the people whining about the whining, very interesting, even the people who tell all the people to stop whining are whining.

While were at it let's have a "In FSG We Trust" section for the mindless people who also probably trusted Hicks & Gillett.

05 Sep 2012 12:10:52
Hi Eds, news on footballgossip is stating that Rodgers tried to offload henderson, downing & enrique on the last day of the transfer window. Any truth in this? Thanks. ZA13 {Ed062's Note - only henderson that i know off}

Trying to get Enriegue off would explain the interest in Bastos? {Ed062's Note - hmmm good point. but it could just be a recylcled story}

05 Sep 2012 12:06:14
Rogers is saying we need to be patient in the final third, yet all I see is Suarez constantly running into dead ends and giving the ball away so easily.

We build up our play so well from the back only for this geek to just mess it up.

Rather than using your spin to pull the wool Mr. ROGERS. I think you need to sort this out with your team cos our link up play in the final third is quite poor.

Sort this out now and if Suarez won't bed in, just sale him for the good of the team and get us a team player.

The rate at which he gives the ball away by trying to take on the entire defence when a simple pass would have been okay coupled with the volume of chances he misses is killing us.

Finally, Rogers need to be reminded that Liverpool is bigger than just settling only for the players he worked with in the past and I believe this is why we messed up in the last window.

There were other players we could have signed with our little kitty but this guy just blew the whole thing on Allen and Borini.

Not saying these aren't good signings but why blow the whole kitty on this two when we had other pressing needs?

There were quality players like Michu, Chico, Ki Sunjg Yeung, Dempsey, Kone and a host of others we could have signed with what we had, had Rogers not blown the whole money by insisting on these two whose prices were largely inflated.

Try to be flexible Sir in the next window before you line up the squad once again with expensive average joes.

Sad fan.

You certainly are sad! Michu? Can you imagine the abuse from fans like you if we had tried to sign him? Just because he's now scored in a couple of games, we should have signed him? Get real sad sad fan.

Allen has been our best player so far. Michu and the likes haven't played against man city and arsenal yet either. So unless we can buy and sell players outside the transfer window, your gonna have to wait. Sad you are

I sympathise with your sadness. How can someone who is a highly paid manager, prioritise signing Allen and Borini, for £27m when a striker was the ONLY priority. Or holding on to the only other striker we had! Nuts.

How can BR be lauded when such a major error of judgement took place in public, for all to see. If I was a player i would find it hard to look at him in the same light as before.

BR is in danger of making Clarke/kd look very good.. BR please don't mess up the defence, if you cant score you'll need clean sheets. Lfc were strong last season in defence, you need it more than ever now.
Jmac

Our manager is not called ROGERS. Next time spell his name right.

You talk aback Suarez Gerrard does that and it actually cost us to concede our first goal. after that we weren't going to score.

I do like when someone disagrees with my comment. Thanks for reading. Truth hurts I suppose.
So that means you disagree a striker was a priority..yet BR was desperately trying to grab a striker in the dying moments of last Friday.
You disagree that BR made a major error of judgement. Well the very fact Owen etc have been discussed plus the manager's own assertion that he would be nuts to let Carroll go on loan, seems to suggest he agrees with me.

You disagree that the defence will need to be stronger than it was last season, yet few goals for means we need to concede fewer goals too. Not likely to have the third best defence in the league again.

You must be a blue welcome to the best football banter/rumours site. Jmac

How can some of you call yourselves Liverpool fans........you all need to take a good look at yourselves in the mirror coz some of the things ur saying is pathetic and it's creating drama for no reason......if ur so mad n so unhappy at Liverpool then why don't you go and support some other team......I'm sick of all the crying and bitching..... We are only 3 games into the season for Christ sake...... Get a grip..... We all knew it would be a hard start with fixtures..... With a new manager..... New tactics and formation...... New players.....every player coming back at different times in pre season etc....... So come on everyone get behind the team n Rodgers and most of all just be patient......rant over

Andy

Well said mate.

We have assiaidi, yesil etc to come in. They are unknown quantities at present and I'm sure Brendan will get them playing very soon.

If you have no faith read post above

I agree amte but why all the long un-neccessary pauses?
Are you Ann Robinson? Find out after the break

05 Sep 2012 11:31:15
hey eds and fellow reds
could u please clear up the J hendo situation did we try to sell him or loan him out over the last transfer window coz i hope it aint true i like him as a player

Dman {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool actively trying to sell him.}

05 Sep 2012 11:28:36
Anybody Else thinkthat rather than signing a free aent which smacks of desperation liverpool could use Morgan and Pacheco who were both stand out performers in pre season and maybe give suso a chance now that spearo and adam are gone in a couple a cameos off the bench

Sure but there is no guarantee that the younguns will score, is there? There is no harm in bringing in a free agent. We need goals mate, goals.

Yeah but there no guarantee the freebie would score either
FowlerisGod

05 Sep 2012 11:26:46
If Arshavin becomes a free agent we should definitely go for him although i would think he will want a move to Russia!? {Ed002's Note - Arshavin won't be able to move to Liverpool before January.}

He's being allowed to move from arsenal on a free transfer, not being made a free agent, there's a difference.

05 Sep 2012 11:26:05
For all you FSG must go persons - more and more abuse towards them could actually give them an option .............. Mortgage the club up to the hilt, put ALL the debt on the club, take their initial investment with them ............. Which would put us in administration, become the Rangers of the PL and could be the end of Liverpool Football Club - worst case scenario perhaps, but it would be what the FSG out crowd deserve.
No buyer will even contemplate LFC, with the knowledge that if they don't buy every superstar in football, win every trophy available in their first year they will get constant abuse from the fans.
Time for people to accept that we want FSG in for the long haul, and believe Rodgers is going to do the right thing and still be here in 20 years.

John B

Patience for the first year or two then we will get stronger and stronger, that's the way it's gonna be.

Rogers could have done the right thing and walked exposing who at FSG is responsible for the mess however he chose not to do that.

Ahh for self preservation

Ed 02, i think FSG would only buy coke if there was a resale value to it lol?

I think we are going on year 3 of FSG ownership and if they are just now implementing their managerial methods just now then they truly are stupid.

05 Sep 2012 11:24:23
Hi Eds - I'm asking this because I honestly don't know, but can FSG make a profit out of LFC and spend it on the Red Sox? I hope FSG stay and see their plans through with BR as manager.
KernowRed {Ed002's Note - I imagine the owners would be dancing in the streets if they were to be making a profit out of Liverpool. At the end of the day, if FSG took a dividend out of Liverpool they could use that money any way the wish: fund the Red Sox, buy a Bugatti, big pile of coke - anything.}

ERR......Thanks ...........I think.
KernowRed

It will be a long while before LFC are constantly making a profit so the idea there in it for money makes me laugh. If you want to doanything for money steer clear of buying a football team!

If it's impossible to make a profit, then why the hell buy the club. it was'nt for the love of football

You'd think some of FSGs so-called "advisors" would have let them in on that little nugget of info before they bought the team, lol.

The question was hypotheotical and not that I thought that FSG would or ever would do such a thing even if there was a profit to be made so wind ur necks in people. Maybe I should have used a different example but using LFC and the Red Sox seemed more topical.
KernowRed

We undersstand that you were trying to put a spin on something just like the FSG so just shut up please.

Sign your post, I'm not trying to put a spin (as you call it) on anything I'm asking a hypotheotical question of which I have the right to do if I don't know the answer so if you want to get involved then be more constructive just saying 'shut up' shows your immaturity IMO.

Season 2011/12
Liverpool goals for 47, against 40
Swansea goals for 44, against 51

Would be a good bet that those stats will swap around, or close to i, for this season.

There is no chance the LFc strikeforce will score 47 this season, they are hamstrung until January til reinforcements arrive.

And on current evidence they will not be the third best defence in the league, as they were last season.

What has changed to make the team leak so many goals so far, since the back four have been largely untouched. Points to midfield?

Getting used to playing a slightly different way, confidence (in the case of Pepe certainly). {Ed062's Note - correct}

Just hearing FSG statement about them ivesting heavily in the Sox thats just a kick in the teeth. Was a condition of the sale of the club not to build a new stadium. The owners are getting worse by the day.Who would say we will spend big after the way they treated liverpool getting rid of 4 players in the last 48 hours and buying not one.
FSG OUT

You're being childish ... grow up will you

Grow up Red Sox and LFC are differenet companies.
Red Sox spending has about as much to do with LFC as the price of a prawn butty in Marks and Spencer.

Different business different accounts simple as

They cleared $260m of wages which means they have $260m of wages to through at 4-5 players.

They operate within the means of Red Sox earnings.

They cleared $260m of wages which means they have $260m of wages to throw at 4-5 players.

They operate within the means of Red Sox earnings.

'FSG OUT'??...what & chicken farmers in yeah? You pillock.

^ Same owner's! FSG are the 2 club's guardian's parent's if you like! And there's clearly a case of favouritism toward's the Red Sox!

The red sox have just traded a few of their better but under performing stars for large amounts of cash, i guess they will invest this money in the red sox during the close season .
The way they took over Boston reminds me of the way they have started with Liverpool ......invested heavily on the club , stabilise it and continue to grow , however the club, supporters , players and management have to accept as much responsibility as the owners

What's it matter what else they spend their money on.

Red Sox have slowly gotten worse and worse through the tenure of NESV/FSG and LFC is the next sports franchise they are going to ruin. Their business model/plan just doesn't work and I know people will say the Red Sox won the series twice since they took over but really the Sox haven't been successful since 2007, they were wildcard draws in '08 and '09, but 2007 were the last time they were even close to competitive. Anyone who says anything else has rose-tinted glasses on as it were. FSG aren't putting in the time or effort required to own/run a great team like LFC and think they are in over their head and should get out now.

I think far too many people are mistaking running a real football club with playing football manager on their playstions, some of the comments on here about the club are embarrasingly ignorant.

Like this one.

... And I do believe the latest version of Footbal Manager game is getting tougher now .

Ed 02?

Could you see a scenario were FSG spend the next few years stabilising LFC financially and then selling to Robert Kraft (who has a long term interest in aquiring the club) once finacial fair play kicks in properly?

Also if the wealthy clubs pull out to form a Euro super league would you speculate LFC would remain in the cash starved national league as we wouldnt be able to compete with the Euro elite?

Sorry for asking SILLY questions but would welcome your opinion, I just cant see were we go as a club to close the gap, glad to see FSG putting our house in order its just what happens after that stage to make the club competitive. {Ed002's Note - I cannot see Robert Kraft buying Liverpool because the day-to-day running costs of a football club remain very high - although to be fair he was approached by the club to see if he would be interested and gave serious consideration to the matter. He has in the past tried to get NFL franchises in to both England (particularly London) and Germany (in the north of the country). If the owners were to decide to sell quickly then the obvious route is floatation on a stockmarket - perhaps in teh Far East. It is not so much the wealthy clubs who have, for some years) been discussing options for a pan European breakaway league but the "higher profile" clubs. Much of this started back in the G14 days and again discussions were held very recently. As we stand right now Liverpool has not been party to such discussions - David Moores was the last to be involved from a Liverpool perspective. However, regardless of those involve in current discussions, it is perfectly possible that other clubs could be invited to eventually join a breakaway organisation.}

Thankyou for answering my questions much apprieciated.

Thank God Michael owen signed for Stoke!

With only 2 strikers i think we are stuffed if one or both get injured, failing to sign any strikers was incompetence.

Eds: Whats the chance of liverpool getting Drogba ? at least the guy knows what a Goal looks like!

Irish eyes {Ed002's Note - I would doubt Drogba will be moving to Liverpool.}

If Borini and Suarez get hurt you will wish you had Owen

What planet are you on fella, we have no money and Drogba wants £250k per week, have you got any business sense.

The best we could have hoped for was Owen, some plonkers are now pushing for Del Piero, cuckoo cuckoo.

We will end up with either Heskey/Fowler or nobody, that is the simple facts so people stop asking for Drogba for gods sake

I'd rather play Morgan or Yesil than Owen.

Drogba will NOT sign for Liverpool!!

to all the "fans" who are slagging off the owners, who with out we would now be in admistration, who know a hell of a lot more about running a business then any of us, and rightly so priority no.1 has to be putting the club on a safe financial footing so we are never hours from administration again. and this petty BS about "they like the redsox more then us" I say one thing......be careful what you wish for!!

FSG are a bunch of cowboys Henry has told of big spending for the rex sox what a joke. Selling liverpool players to fund the Red sox

FSG don't care about liverpool.

Agree, because of what the last owners were like we maybe are being to quick in drawing comparisons without giving them a real chance. They did spend last summer, albeit on the wrong players, but as it is now we have started off badly and they are aware we were inept by not getting at least one striker in. Going against them isn't going to help us now we need to see how things pan out and how they perform in january in the market. Till then support the boys fingers crossed we start winning and scoring Ynwa. Jd

Surely 'priority no.1' is to ensure that the club are competitive and getting back to where we rightly belong, which is what the owners said they would do? When is this going to happen? They might know a lot about running a business but they know sweet FA about running a football club - our football club. Do they not realise that without investment in the team, revenue for their business will decline? There has to be a balance and, currently, the owners are just concentrating on the business side and neglecting the football side which, ultimately, is how they will make their business succeed. I'm not advocating throwing money at it like they did last year but we need football people at boardroom level too, not just businessmen.

Gillinho

I still think Kenny and his players deserved another year and were starting to come good, when FSG decided it was time for some documentary drama, and went about dismantling everything King Kenny had built . . .

Mate, you might not know much about running a business, but some of us do.
Some of us have masters and doctorate degrees in business, and can see FSG for what it is doing (though adopting sound financial principals, but at the risk of hampering growth and development, impeding performance), my best guess is making the club more attractive to investors (be it new owners, or shareholders).
The question is, does MR Henry and Warner, hold any reasonable qualifications?.
I think its rather rude of you, and ideed disrespectful, to assume that LFC fans are 'not' qualified to make comments or give insights.
Cabernet.

"The question is, does MR Henry and Warner, hold any reasonable qualifications?." - Are you serious? Mr Henry grew a small office pretty much into one Americas largest Commodity Brokerage firms in the US...one thinks he is plenty "Qualified" - who cares if someone has a masters or a Doctorate in Business, does not mean you'll be successful in business.......but thanks for including a couple of textbook sentences and given us a proper insight in to nothing.....I think maybe actually if your that big in to business you would show Mr Henry a bit more respect in how he made his money and how qualified he really is!

Al

Cabernet. I agree with you that FSG are doing some in house cleaning with a view to selling LFC! But cleaning up to much to soon is going to have a diverse effect on the club! And being midtable to relegation battle side is not going to attractive to potential buyer's or investor's! Mr Henry keep's harping on about the FFP rule's but they don't come into play for another 2 year's! We are a laughing stock in the football world and about to be charged with tapping up a player that we would'nt give that little bit more for! FSG's action's in that episode amongst other's is nothing short of being disgraceful!

Lol . . . easy to build a business of speculation on the home soil of capitalism, but cannot speculate on a few deadline day transfers.

Season 2011/12
Liverpool goals for 47, against 40
Swansea goals for 44, against 51

I think a good bet is those stats, or close to, will be swapped around this season. It will be interesting to compare.

There is no chance Lfc can score 47, if they are hamstrung til January with the current strikeforce.

And on existing evidence there is no chance of keeping as strong a defence as last season (third best in the league). What's happened to make the defence leak so badly this season?

05 Sep 2012 11:06:54
We will not be signing Del Piero.
We couldn't compete with an Australian club on wages.
It's a joke, whether any of us wanted him or not is debateable but not being able to raise 2m for Dempsey and not being able to compete with an Aussie club on a straight wage deal is frightening for the future.
I think what's happening is the owners agreed with BR not to appoint a Camolli type but then just done his job themselves.
Although a lot of people disagree with Spirit of Shankly group on many things they were spot on yesterday calling for Chief Executive to be appointed as Ian Ayre is clearly not up to the job or does not have any authority given to him by the owners.

It didnt come down to a wage fight! He had already agreed to move to them.

I seriously doubt we wanted a 38 year old to lead our line

I can not fully comprehend the statements made by Henry and FSG.
Are they totally clueless, are just idiotic.
Does he fully comprehend what he is saying.

FSG have left poor BR in a very, very difficult situation, their inability to be decisive in the market and lack of foresight will impact dramtically on the teams performances.

Though they are not 'cowboys', the description of 'distant, aloof, and uninformed' best describes them.

Its now only 3 games into the season, and already we look like breaking more records (for all the wrong reasons).

FSG, surely you can't be this stupid!.

Yes they can!

I agree - their PR seems to be really quite terrible. My issue stems from the letter released from Henry to the fans - Henry essentially saying they will not be bullied into paying over the odds for players who will not benefit Liverpool in the long term, something I wholeheartedly agree with. Now look at Henry's letter to the Red Sox fans, explaining how they have the second highest payroll amongst the 30 clubs. What needs to be understood and appreciated is a lot of us fans do not understand the complexities and financial implications of owning different clubs, in different sports, on different continents. I fear it may just look to many like Henry's attention is fully focused on Red Sox with Liverpool almost on the sidelines with regards to transfer funds (I'm not saying this is the case), potentially causing a backlash. Only time will tell, however I think the timing of the releases to the two sets of fans could have been slightly better. I just hope the spotlight isn't shone on Liverpool any more than it has recently - the publicity isn't helping anyone at present.

why is everyone slating borini? hes one of very few players who are working very hard for the team. hes also been played out of position, he should be switched with suarez. give the lad a chance he clearly has ability, 4 or 5 games in and everyone says hes awful, how did lucas start anfield life again? working hard and taking loads of critisism, so just support the lad, we will be seeing a lot of him.
ed001 whats your take on borini?

LFC-IRE

LFC-IRE

I totally agree, he is no way a winger just as adem morgan is no way a winger they are both goal poaching strikers, now i rate brendan rodgers but he has to prove he can spot the differences quickly and thats the sign of good managers, if borini is played in the center, no one will be talking about needing strikers again, with suarez coming off the wing (his best position) and borini's pace to get in the box at the right time (which was carroll's downfall) liverpool wil be scoring goals for fun, the biggest mistake of rodgers so far is believing that borini should be played on the wing, its vitally important he corrects this and we will see suarez back to his best and we will see the new inzaghi very soon. So please brendan wake up, i rate you highly but learn from your mistakes dont be stubborn like previous managers. Please guys give me your opinions and does anyone know how we can bring this to the attention of rodgers. RedTurk

Borini will come good im sure but like with most young players it will take time,the lack of striking alternatives will only add pressure
NAVANRED

Bit of a contradiction above, that you rate BR, but that he is failing to spot the most crucial part of the game's objectives, how to play his striker to score goals.

Only 6 goals to go for Borini to be more successful than AC, and 35 games to get them in. I haven't checked AC assists though.

Funny I thought Brendan got him as a finisher, only game he played as a striker was Hearts away I think. Borini needs to.score in the prem to get his confidence, after this more will follow, he has a better chance of scoring being swapped with suarez. Borini even would get penalties suarez wouldnt, I know this is being a bit desperate but we need to start scoring

Jay Spearing worked his butt off for this team too. But that doesn't mean you got what it takes to make it in the Prem, unfortunately . . .

Your right, jay spearing did work hard, but look at how much tiome he was given. All im sayin is give borini a chance.

LFC-IRE

I think borini has excellent positional sense which he showed when he got on the other end of sterlings cross.needs to play as central striker though not a wide forward.

Surely the transfer window is a restriction of trade for European Union players and as such should be challenged as such.

Watcher {Ed002's Note - No. THey have contracts with clubs and are free to work. THose uncontracted are free to move.}

I'm not sure I agree with you Ed002. If I have a contract with one company and another wishes to take that over if all three parties are in agreement this can happen at any time. It happens all the time in the 'normal' world. There are a few things in the 'football' world that are (in my opinion) wrong or illegal but so long as no-one challenges them they will continue. The only challenger in recent years was Jean-Marc Bosman (pronounced boss-man not boz-man) and he was successful. The only ones who can challenge won't or don't so we just have to accept everything as it now is. I personally think that within a few years there will be changes (hopefully) for the better so we will all just have to wait and see.
Dutchmal {Ed002's Note - The transfer of a player is not the taking over of a contract. One contract terminates and another starts. The Bosman ruling was the to do with free movement of a player to another club "at the end" of their contract not during it. The transfer window is something that many clubs disagree with, but for now it stays.}

Hi Ed002 - Your point is in accordance with mine. One contract ends and another begins as in 'normal' life. However in football this MUST happen within a certain time and as the original poster said this could be challenged. As for the Bosman ruling I do know what it means. My point is UEFA, the Belgian Union, and FC Liege were challenged and found to be acting illegally while many other rulings have simply been accepted without protest. Groetjes

I think we need to be sensible in all that has gone on in recent weeks,I'm sure the owners and BR will get it right, however they do need support,&above all patience!
In the past we have signed a lot of expensive imports who were mediocre to say the least , cost a fortune and earned a fortune, fans then started to question the purchases as they were not good enough and stunted the progress of young academy players
For one reason or another we are now finding the squad a little thin in certain areas, however Dempsey or no Dempsey let's get real , we were not going to compete realistically for the league or top4 as we are in a rebuilding period, the silver lining in this present cloud is that the likes of sterling and Morgan ,and hopefully others are getting valuable experience and game time required to prove they have what it takes ,an opportunity they would never have had if previous transfer policy had been yet again repeated
Let's get behind the owners the manager and every player who wears the red shirt

Liverpool fans have been rocked by John W Henry's assurances to Boston Red Sox supporters that FSG will spend big on them.

While the American tycoon insists he will not break the bank to fund Anfield signings, he boasts that his baseball team will continue to be among sport's biggest spenders.

Liverpool supporters have been left in no doubt which side of the Atlantic Henry's priorities lie,

He said in his American open letter: "Baseball is a 365-days-a-year sport for us. Our commitment to winning with the Red Sox is unabated.

"We continue to have the second highest payroll among the 30 clubs."

james red

If this is true then them S''T bag owners should just start looking for buyers cause they haven't shown us that same commitment this summer

I would suggest, before getting too carried away, that you go away and find out about Baseball before trying to use this as more fuel for the Anti FSG mob.

There is, simply, no comparison between revenues/salaries in Baseball and that in Football.

FSG have stated, more than once, that they are trying to build a sustainable football club. If you bothered, any of you using this adversely, to go and look at Baseball, you would see what that is about.

They have been involved with Red Sox for about 10 years I believe, have built up massively increeased revenues, increased support nd matchday sales. They are able to continue spending, because the money is there!

The money simply isn't there in Football, for Liverpool, at this time.

I for one would be quite happy for such a statement to be made about LFC in 10 years time, when the club has been ressurected and brought back to where it should be.

Good response. And to add to that, the more money the Red Sox make them, the more money FSG will have to invest in us. These are serious sports investors, they know what they are doing?

Did you think they would simply throw hundreds of millions at LFC immediately? What guarantee of returns would they have on their investment? They have come good for us already. Stop your nonsensical blabbering and try and understand... {Ed062's Note - some think football is just a replica of fifa or football manager}

Why would the owners sell the club when the writ off all of our debts?

Doesnt add up. {Ed002's Note - At some point they will become sick of the threats and abuse from the fans.}

What threats? What abuse? if there's any, its by a minority of imbeciles, and its no worse than what they are getting from the Red sox nation at the moment, the vast majority of Liverpool fans have only been expressing their frustration and they have a right to, I think you may be prone to a bit journalistic sensationalism ED

Carter {Ed002's Note - You clearly have no understanding of what has been going on.}

Don't agree with abuse for the owners, but they are definitely not going out of their way to make LFC successful now are they? {Ed002's Note - Yeah I am sure that they appreciate putting £100M in to the club over the first two years of ownership and the fans demanding more. Plus £30M plus this summer on transfers and fees, but the fans still crave sugar daddy ownership.}

See this is what I don't understand about debts. Why should we as supporters be concerned with this? "We got 8th in the EPL again, but hey we have no debts!" Do you think Utd supporters cry themselves to sleep at night because despite their clear domination over the last 20 years they are in so much debt that it over shadows their success? As supporters we want to see our team do well - and by that I don't mean I want a rich sugar daddy to take us over and buy the EPL and CL for us, I wouldn't want to be associated with a club like that. I would like it if our owners would let BR spend enough to keep up with our rivals (Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea).

I am well aware that I don't know much about how this all works, i'm working purely on what makes sense to me, but all this reducing players wages, not spending over the odds on players (or not paying what they're worth for them?), and not replacing vital players within the squad, surely can only make us a poorer side? I understand that there were players who weren't being used, who were on horific wages, and it's good that we have replaced them. But if we are to compete with our rivals, we need to be buying in players as good as theirs, paying what they are worth, otherwise we will be falling further behind.

I get the impression that FSG want to have their cake and eat it, ie not give BR money to spend, but also expect the team to improve on last season. BR is an excellent manager, not a miracle worker!

So what will happen when we are actually making an income rather than losses? Would we have fallen so far down the table that we have money to spend and no one wants to join us? Will our revenue continue to decrease because we no longer have the ability to attract supporters from all around the world? There seems to be this belief that within 2-3 seasons we can be challenging for the title - I just don't see it! If we finish this season in 10th or below (this is not my prediction, but entirely possible), players will not only be choosing Spurs over us, but Everton, Swansea, Stoke, Fulham etc.

Contrary to popular belief, we are still a big club. I don't think anyone dare say that Inter or Juve aren't big clubs, and they have had their issues over the last few years, and it's the same for us. But Leeds United and Nottingham Forest were once big clubs, and look what happened to them.

I'm just wondering, would it not have made sense for the owners to make us successful before addressing all this? With CL income, we would recieve greater recognition across the globe and this would surely generate more income than what we are doing now? Teams in the CL will continue to get stronger and stronger, whilst this rebuilding will cause us to fall further behind, and then when we are in a position to compete, we will have so much further to go.

I don't think United are going to go bust anytime soon are they?

I know the owners have their agenda, but us as fans have a different agenda, we want to succeed, and at the very least keep up. Maybe that's why so many LFC supporters are annoyed with whats happened recently. I doubt there are many of us thinking "our team is going downhill, but hey, our owners will be making a profit soon :-D

{Ed002's Note - BR was given money - Liverpool were in the top ten spending clubs world-wide this summer. I spent the past year saying don't expect a massive spending spree that some were expecting. For some reason people cannot see that the owners have been financially supportive of the managers.}

I would be so ashamed if we went the way of Chelsea and City - having to buy our success. I would just very much appreciate it if we could keep up with our rivals

A successful idea is often NOT the popular one. I for one am happy to wait a couple of seasons for us to build into a MASSIVE team. We are planning our ascent and I'm excited at the future.

Having waited for over 20 yrs for the title, I am happy to wait a couple more as when it happens, it will for a prolonged period with consistent success.

FSG, we believe in you, but as other successful businesses do nowadays, information needs to be shared with us. We are heavily emotionally invested in LFC and would appreciate more details about our future. BR is here to focus on winning games while building a squad. Let him focus on that while you address our concerns.

Many thanks

Sugar Daddy implies that one can spend with no end sight or goal in mind, where as I can assure you that any group or individual spending big in football is only spending for one reason; WINNING!!

Ed the net spend works out to around 11/12 million a seaon when u look at the net figures.

Alot of the money they spent was money already in the football club not investment money from their own pockets..

Liverpool may have been up there in spending but its a bit convenient dismissing the money the club MADE in outgoings.

This is why we are now one injury away from playing a school kid upfront.

Shak Attack {Ed002's Note - Really the fans seem to have no grasp about the finances of the club. I have explained ad nausium that they have put up an additional £50M a year to make up losses. This summer we have seen £30M plus net spending on players and fees.}

If you want to end up with a sugar daddy
You'll be glad to see the club turn into a club that you have no infinity with the players because if they have five or six bad games they are shipped out for the Next
"big thing"

Let's get behind the club what ever
Bad times we are having.
Its all part of being a fan

Lyndon

What?! I don't understand how people are agreeing with this 'sugar daddy' stuff. Do you not want LFC to be successful through bringing through young players, playing together as a team, and bringing in a few top drawer players? I hate the fact that the EPL is dominated by teams who are only good because they have rich owners. Money is ruining football, and supporters of CFC and MCFC should hang their heads in shame that their support is allowing it to continue, all for the sake of supporting glory. My hat goes off to teams like Arsenal and Tottenham, whilst they are our rivals, at least they are not buying success. In my opinion, a bought trophy is a non existant one

^ Wake up, mate. Money is ruining the world . . .

interresting piece in the telegraph saying wenger is willing to let andrey arshavin go on a free because the russian transfer window does not close yet. if we could come up with some sort of package to get him here surely hes better than whats been mentioned....owen,heskey?? just his fitness and confidance issues. he did score 4 against us so knows were the anfield goal is! {Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot sign Arshavin before January.}

We can if both parties (Arsenal and Arse shaver) mutually agree to terminate the contract. We can't if he's allowed to go on a free but still contracted.

Either way I wouldn't want him...give the kids a go - there's enough of them to rotate if we have to!

Marshy {Ed002's Note - No, mutual termination does not work, he has to be a free agent during the preceding transfer window. If Arsenal were to be in breach of the contract then it would be possible.}

Goodness, give Borini and Sahin a break! These guys have just joined LFC, are only 21 & 22, never played in EPL and has been thrust unfairly into a lead striker and midfielder role due to lack of other options. We need to appreciate their effort to work for the club and give them time.

A lot of LFC fans need to look up the definition of support! I for one am more worried about the decline in attitude of our fan base than I am in the clubs progress. At least the club have a plan of how to improve! Please get behind the owners, the team and the players.

Bryan

Borini coudnt score 4 open goals, in three matches, and despite of this rodgers let carrol lives, every manager want to prove their singnins, dalglish - downing flop, maxi bench. If he is hopping from borini some goals, im sorry this club will b on the risk of relegation, simple rodgers not good enough

If you had been around in my day, you would recall that many fans were calling for Ian Rush to be dropped because he wasn't scoring at first. He struggled to get into the right position and was not on the same wavelength as the others. After an 8 game (I think) drought the goal machine started.....and the rest is history.
My point is NOT that I think Borini is another Rush, but , give him a chance to settle. He is young , a hard worker and has a great attitude and he wants to succeed for our club.
Get off his back...if these forums had been around in Rushie's day it could have ruined a great career.

KJS

Actually Borini played in the EPL before and I think he will come good. Patience is the key!

HK

Has borini played in prem? Dont think he has {Ed002's Note - For Chelsea and Swansea.}

Boot room blarney - Hi eds , am i correct in saying that our squad deadline for registering with the premier league was 5pm last night,if so does that mean we are not allowed loan players or anyone else until January if thats correct at least we can put that to bed and get on with the season with what we have got. {Ed002's Note - Any chance of a loan stopped on Friday. Free agents remain an option.}

Boot room blarney - thanks,does free agents remain an option anytime during the season or is there a deadline ,sorry to be a pain {Ed002's Note - Anytime as long as they were free agents in the preceding transfer window.}

What, so you want them to lie and say we won them games?

deano95, what a joke, del piero has more goals in him at 38 than most of our team put together, he scored vital goals for juventus last year and they won the league. suarez just doesnt have the prolific goalscorer in him. look at what gary mccalister did for us and people was questioning his age. guess people are happy with the rubbishe we watch week in week out, hitting crossbar, over and in the stands

Del Piero, who ended his 19-year association with Juventus when leaving on a free transfer at the end of last season. was expected to sign for Sydney in the biggest transfer in the history of Australian football.
However, Liverpool's failure to sign a new striker on transfer deadline day has forced them to consider bringing in a free agent to provide back-up to Luis Suarez and Fabio Borini.
The Reds have made an offer for the 37-year-old, who scored 208 goals in 513 appearances for Juve, and Del Piero is expected to announce his decision in a press conference in Turin on Wednesday.
However, Sydney chief executive Tony Pignata remains hopeful the former Italy international will move to Australia.
"Liverpool have come in ... and they're a big club, there's no denying that," Pignata told Fox Sports. "But I think the attraction of Australia might sway us.
"I'm still confident but until we get that signature on a piece of paper, you never know. We've done as much as we can to get this deal over the line.
"We're all anxious. I'm sure there's a lot of fans out there hanging on to get a decision. We've just got to be patient. We've only been in these negotiations for a week and sometimes these sort of negotiations take longer.

Macca, What are the rumours about Del Piero and Sinama?

05 Sep 2012 08:35:14
Hi eds and reds!
Are we interested in Alessandre Del Piero despite Henry stating we are not looking for solutions for short term problem AND are we going to sign some one in january (IF YES WHO IS MOST LIKELY?)

Aneesh Liverpool {Ed002's Note - I have given an opion on DP and there is no way that we can answer your "most likely" question at this time.}

Macca thanks for updates all summer.
One question, what is the mood inside the camp?

05 Sep 2012 08:18:19
Morning Ed

With big Andy on loan at WH with an option to buy,is it possible this option could be taken up early in the january window? Really hope we don't bother signing any free agents as I'm sure the wages would be ridiculus and a huge signing on fee involved, in my opinon undo all the hard work clearing high earning non first teamers off the bill we managed this window.

sorry to be harping back to the olden days- but the successful liverpool teams of the past were built on consistency-as in a regular team- this business of a different team / chopping and changing virtually every game will never work

Modern day football is all about a squad of players,look at how fergie manages to keep the whole squad fresh and hungry including the older players.Liverpool need to stop running Gerrard into the ground,as soon as Giggs and scholes turned thirty they were wrapped in cotton wool and their playing time was carefully managed hence they are still playing and making great contributions.

05 Sep 2012 06:40:46
Not sure where we are up to at the moment with this Del Pierro "saga". It could be that he would not want to sign for us-so as not to risk failing a t a top premier club. Could be another Robbie Keane money wasting business-seen as the top player at the time, someone who we had all been waiting for-a massive fee, but delivered nothing-either because he was not given the chance to or not good enough to

05 Sep 2012 04:25:04
Just an opinion. I've noticed something similar about Dalglish's reign and BR's, which is that we can play good football BUT we can't finish. Both managers bought strikers who need at least 1 season or 2 to regain their form instead of ready made ones. Dalglish could have bought cavani for Carroll's money, BR could have bought Soldado with Borini's money. Not saying that Borini or Carroll are not good, but they need time and we have no 1st choice strikers that can finish, which is causing our poor form of late.

Soldado for borini's money, what dream world are u living in?

Soldado wouldve been available for 15m- Borini is a waste of money at 5m never mind what we paid for him- it is quite clear that he is not the prolific scorer Rodgers hoped he would be

25mil minimum for soldado, something our owners probably wouldn't pay

LIVERPOOL SUPPORTERS GROUP OPENLY SLATE OWNERS IN STATEMENT

Liverpool Supporters' group Spirit Of Shankly have called on Liverpool chairman Tom Werner to be held accountable for the way the club is being run in a move reminiscent of the backlash against previous owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Disquiet has been growing among fans after the recent well publicised mistakes made in the transfer market, the sacking of iconic figure Kenny Dalglish as manager in May, the lack of a decision on whether to build a new stadium or renovate Anfield and the lack of a prominent figure from owners Fenway Sports Group based on Merseyside.

Spirit Of Shankly made a statement suggesting it is time for Tom Werner to be held accountable as chairman of Liverpool Football Club and that the lack of ownership presence is the main reason for the transfer market mistakes.

The statement in full reads as follows:

"Following yet another summer where off the pitch activities at Liverpool Football Club have dominated the headlines, we once again find the club ownership attempting to explain away business decisions that have overshadowed footballing matters.

"Spirit of Shankly reiterates its stance that the position of manager at Liverpool Football Club should be supported with all of the resources at the club's disposal. However, events of last Friday and the subsequent 'open letter' from the club's Principal Owner, John W Henry, indicate that almost two years into FSG's ownership of the club this is not yet the case.

"As pointed out by the union in May, there remains no ownership presence on this side of the Atlantic. It is our opinion that this situation has led directly to the "mistakes" alluded to in Mr Henry's open letter. Should the club's absentee owners not wish to establish a full-time base in Liverpool, it remains imperative that they appoint a Chief Executive of a calibre commensurate with the club's global status, to act with the full authority of the owners in their absence. Without this Chief Executive, it is far from sufficient for a club of Liverpool's stature to have a part-time Chairman, based on another continent, with various other interests, and from whom little or nothing of consequence is seen or heard. In case FSG need reminding, they are now employing their third manager, have already dispensed with the services of their Director of Football and now accusatory fingers are pointing in the direction of their Managing Director.

"The questions posed of FSG by Spirit of Shankly during the close season remain unanswered. If the board is based in Boston, why has no Liverpool-based Chief Executive been appointed to oversee the club's affairs? It is almost two years since Liverpool Football Club was sold to FSG, with the stadium development being a condition of the sale, yet still no decisions have been made and still communication with fans and neighbouring residents alike remains patchy at best. Commendably FSG will not sanction the spending of money the club has not got, but why not increase the money available to the club through selling shares to supporters?

"There comes a point at any football club where the Chairman has to step forward on behalf of the board and be held accountable for decisions that they have made and strategies that they have implemented. With key questions continuing to go unanswered, Spirit of Shankly suggests it is time for Tom Werner to be held accountable as Chairman of Liverpool Football Club. After all, the buck stops with him, not with those acting with his authority and not with people no longer at the club."

In his letter Henry insisted the club's ambitions were not about "cementing a mid-table place with expensive, short-term quick fixes that will only contribute for a couple of years". That led to suggestions - dismissed by Rodgers - there was a difference of opinion between the owners and the manager.

Former owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks were forced out of the club, with the lack of new stadium among the reasons for fan dissatisfaction.

FSG got the club cheap (what was it, £300m or so), have done very little since.
Have spoken of 'a stadium or redevelopment' but have still delivered nothing.
Have spent lots of time easing the wage bill (decreasing it), in so doing have left the team weakened, and unable to sustain a challenge long term.
Fired a legend.
Appointed a relatively inexperienced manager (one who I believe will be fantastic over the long term), but then left him somewhat 'stranded', and without the resources (players) to truly perform.
Criticised players.
Taken on disgusting sponsors (Standard Chartered), who have been shown to have profited by their dealings with oppressive regimes (Iran).
Appointed various individuals with no understanding of the game (Warner and co).

Can we really say, that these are 'owners' to be admired, I think not.

The sooner FSG are gone, the happier I will be.
Though not as bad as H&G, they are certainly 'no good' for the club.

With supporters like you, even had we won the premier league last season, you'd still not be happy ... asking for more and more.

A lot of us fans are waiting ... so should you.

Ed2 mate can you clear for me few things mate

1) Why did FSG buy liverpool when they didn't know anything about club or even knew what loverpool is

2) Why FSG risked their investment knowing nothing about club or football its very surprising mate when they sayed the didn't know what offside means in footy or penalties until with cardiff

Now mate why would FSG risk their investment in a firm where they have Zero knoledge or massive lack of experience mate

{Ed002's Note - It is an investment and their business is an investment vehicle. The price was low considering the valuation of the club and they new opportunities for grwoth existed with further investment.}

Ed002, are you two mates? I'm starting to think you might be mates, mate.

i dont get...it this time last year Big Andy was getting slated and now everyone loves the bloke and are crying hes gone.......crazy world tis Liverpool football club.

Matty b

Yes

There are many forked tongues

Because most fans are fickle mate and have no loyalty at all, continually wanting new owners and managers, this club is now on a downward slope and we are already a middle of the league table club (if we are lucky)

Believe me we have a chance of relegation and that would be the saddest day in this city's history

I wouldn't have thought it's all simply about AC as it seems much more likely to beabout leaving the team short of 'tried-and-tested' attacking options.

I was slating andy carroll and i still think hes average sorry, what a waste of money. We still need a replacement for torres. RedTurk

Eds, not a transfer rumour, but a question. How can Kelly and Henderson be playing a U21 qualifier when they are clearly 22? I know it's some specific about the date when the initial squad list is submitted or something like that, but can you clarify? Thanks in advance. {Ed049's Note - As long as the player is 21 or under on the registration date, then they are still eligible, I think.}

Players remain eligible until the end of the season in which they turn 22.

I disagree with eds when he says assaidi is not ready that he is for the future..I think its bcos he just finished fasting and needs time to get back into shape..I don't tink he could be worse than borini right now

Agreed, he's 24 years old, if he isn't ready now he never will be.

Who could be worse than Borini right now

Pretty random question, but does anyone else have problems with the official team website on their iPhone/iPad? For some reason I can't ever get past the annoying splash/picture thing. Clicking 'enter' just reloads that same image over and over again. Just trying to figure out if it's just me... {Ed049's Note - Yes the same thing occurs on my Galaxy Note.}

Instead of the normal URL, 'www.' type in 'www./news'. Should work now.

He is mate, he's third on the list

He's not on Liverpool's squad list on Liverpool's page. But if you look at the official announced 25 man squads he is on Liverpool's list.

04 Sep 2012 23:31:56
Ok guys I think it is time we all admit the hard truth and that is at the current time we are not at the level we once were it sucks but does that mean we give up and accept that we are not going to compete and the once great fortress know as anfield goes silent and resembles a library with dusty old remnants of past glories adorn the halls or are we going to build on the glorious traditions of the past and give opposing teams something to fear and that is the loud and intimidating image of the KOP in full voice not only does this make it hard for opposing teams to focus but also spurs our players on gives them the belief that they can do anything as long as the fans are behind them 110 % I know we are hurting but so are they, the are nervous and unsure about this season just as much as we are but if we are going to struggle I would rather struggle as one group united, the media would love nothing more than a silent Anfield then they can get the daggers after rodgers and the players but if we as fanbase are behind the club they will have to talk about how anfield is rocking even when LFC are down, how about for once the fans step in front and lead. the players and manager need the support so if you still love LFC make anfield what it used to be one of the most difficult places to go in the premiership sorry for the rant also. If u want to be negative on a website that's fine and is no big deal but please don't bring it into the stadium

Ps I'm an American who has never and unfortunately will never go to Anfield for a match but i miss hearing that stadium in full voice on my tv an rubbing it into my dads face ( he is a man united fan) sorry for the long post

Texas red

Mate after lots of years of mediocore it has really effected our fanbase some fans have already lost passion and have already excepted we are a midtable team do you think its easy for fans when every year club is breaking their heart ask your self when you love someone but every day she breaks your heart then time comes you step back same as fans have step back

Eventually you get a DIVORCE

Give me a break! we are a mid table team so that stops the supporters actually supporting does it? When Shankly took over we were in the second division, do you think the atmosphere was crap then? No it bloody wasn't! I'll tell you why the atmosphere has died down as of late! because Liverpool have become greedy with success over the last 30 years and just because of a slip in form in recent years fans have suddenly lost their voice and instead of supporting have begun to spew vile hatred to those on the pitch! Do you see stoke fans who are a top 10 team losing their voice because they aren't fighting for champs league? No they make a bloody racket because they support their team, becoming sick of liverpool fans, no support anymore and its a joke! They try to run the club instead of getting behind the team, its a joke!

For God's sake fellas, i despair at some of the comments made on these pages. we're a huge club with a fantastic history. but,at the moment. history is all we've got,certainly when it comes to winning the league. Sometimes, i think we have to accept that with the advent of foreign buyers,successful foreign buyers that is, we've missed the boat by selling out to the yanks for a second time without ever really realising what we were letting ourselves in for, which means, with our current financial status, its gonna be a long hard process to get where we once were. Unfortunately, we're going to have to follow the example of the other shower across the park and bring through some youth, helped by some cheap but astute signings like Moyes makes, not nice, but thats the reality of our current situation. Hopefully Sterling is the start of many to come through, now Brendan, its over to you to work the magic, i just hope that our supporters realise its going to take time, we're not what we once were, but hopefully, we'll get there again

You cant emulate the "shower" across the park because youre stuck with your memories and false impression that you have some divine right to be good, you are a mid table team at best and i hope that come january you have whatever resembles a decent player (maybe your two centre halves and thats it) will be snapped up and you descend into proper freefall....one closing comment i think youre probably too good to go down but only just..kopites are red rubbishes

Just over 10 years ago we signed Gary McCallister a player in his mid 30's. Who, in only a few years, didn't become a 'Liverpool Legend' that only a select few can call themselves, but reached legendary status as the most perfect, and surprising signing that became such an instant success.

If we can sign Alessandro Del Piero, I truly believe he could follow Gary Mac as the player who could be a perfect signing looking at the current situation. Also, and its damn important, a former Juventus player legend, playing for Liverpool for the historical importance from Heysel... I really hope it can happen, as I read this evening we put forward an offer.

I get a shock every time I see him play. I can't believe LFC have a player so poor consistently in the team. After the Arsenal game I hope I never see him for LFC game....not holding my breath though, I said that after the cup final....and after QPR, and after ManU...and After Norwich

Any one see Bed-knobs and booomsticks? The animal football-team?... We've got one hell of a freaky looking squad!

We all have an opionon. Thats our rite as fans.

Pepe is past it. Stevie is past it.
Fsg are wa###rs.
Bring back kenny. Bring back raffa.
Everyone is intitled to an opionon.
But there is a reason i have to get up at six feed the kids and go to a job i now hate. Because that what we all do.its life lfc lets us dream. And will always be there for us thru the good and the bad.
There is also a reason why brendan is manager of lfc
And not me or u. And its because he knows what he is doing.
I trust this man with my deams. We all should. No one at lfc
Should never have to walk alone.

The greatest liverpool banner i ever saw read.

04 Sep 2012 22:49:18
In regards to a previous post, how can we have 17+ disagrees to YNWA? I wonder whether us Liverpool fans need to take a good hard look at ourselves before we start pointing the finger at everyone else. We have created a cauldron of tension for our own players, it cant be fun playing in front of our own fans right now. I cant believe the madness right now. Players need to be relaxed and have belief, to play at their best and yet we do not project either from the stands. Goals are met with relief rather than celebration. We cant control anything else outside of how we react as fans and I dont think we are doing a great job at that. Remember half time in Istanbul? We, as fans, could have folded at 3 nil but instead we we lifted and so did the team. How could they not after that SUPPORT? Maybe have a think about that before getting stuck into everyone else. Managers, players and owners are going to make mistakes, that is up to them to address. We can only address what we do. Why not make that a positive step towards lifting our team, not dragging them down into a pit of our insecurities? Football is meant to be fun, lets make it so, and we might be amazed by what we can do for our club.

Patience Patience

Being a Liverpool fan IS

Standing outside the rediffusion shop on a cold Saturday nervously waiting for the score
Running down my friends house with tears in my eyes after losing to Utd in 77
Filling my bedroom wall with pictures of Dalglish, Hansen, Mcdermott,
Trying to phone Bob Paisley from my local phone box to congratulate him after winning the European cup in 77 at the age of 7
Writing to "Jim'll fix it" asking to play Liverpool at Anfield.
Listening on my transistor radio on a cold December night listening to John Motson commentate on Liverpool and some obscure Russian team.
Dreaming the night before that King Kenny would score in the European final, and he did (my hero).
Rushing home on the bus after being made to work overtime so I could watch the European cup final to see it Hysel, sad sad night.
Almost wanting Liverpool to lose just to tell my friends "I dont support them cause they win all the time!"
Thinking King Kenny and Ian rush are the best partnership I had ever seen.
Watching John Barnes at Anfield taking Utd apart, pure class.
Coming home from my semi final win on a sunny Saturday afternoon in a great mood and hearing the news that Liverpool fans were fighting again (oh no).
Turning on the TV with the realisation of what was really happening, feeling hopelessness, despair, total sadness, anger, numb, at what was happening.
Opening the Sun and seeing the pictures on the center pages showing the faces of those poor soles and vowing never to read that trash again.
Watching King Kenny slowly falling apart and into despair, but defiantly walking through through the storm (a hero)
Watching all of Liverpool play a small part in easing some of the pain at Wembly.
Watching in awe when "God" graced the fields of Anfield (what a player)
Olympiakos what a night, Steven Gerrard take a bow.
Being so nervous I thought the good lord make take me in the final minutes against Chelsea when Gudjonsson's shot flew past the post.
Ataturk Stadium, feeling sick, lost, depressed for 45 minutes and feeling adulation like never before at the end, crying when they showed the credits with the Beatles playing "in my life".
Never being tired of watching the champions league final always putting a smile on my face
feeling despair, hate, anguish at the state of the club after H&G
Feeling a warmth in my heart watching the King walk out at Old Trafford.
Struggling to watch the match on a Saturday on a rubbishty web site streaming and stopping every time Liverpool attack
Turning the match off 10 minutes from the end when the opposition score only to turn it on again a minute later to see if we have equalised
Feeling sadness for the King after standing behind him at the Swansea dug out looking frail and drained - Good luck Kenny and thanks for the memories you are truly the King of the Kop.
Excited when Brendon took over, as ever feeling optimistic and excited as i was when I was 7 when Jimmy case struck that ball in 77 to make it 1-1.

Being a Liverpool fan is as Shanks once said being part of a big society with all your fiends around you.

Being a Liverpool fan is Being

Liverpool, never walking alone, alway supporting the club

Absolutely superb post!

That post = eyes watering and goosebumps lifting ! similar memories to you my fellow red. true reds. steviep62

Well summed up on what being a Liverpool fan is. Seems for every bunch of negative posts there have been so far this morning there's always one positively cracking post. Nice one mate.

How does the 25man squad list work? Anyone who's not on there will not get playing time? Because sterling has not been named.... {Ed001's Note - he is under the age of 21 and doesn't need to be named.}

Have you been asleep for the last three seasons ?

Liverpool transfer strategy according to Mr Henry is for no short term quick fix that means not to buy quality players to get into top four instead buy potential for great resale value seems to me they want to be a feeder club for the big teams

Sounds like 'hedge trading' to me.
Why does he approach everything as a 'wheeler, dealer', instead of according the club the respect it deserves.
He is just another 'bag of hot air and promises'.
What has really been done to improve things.
No stadium.
No strikers.
Owners with no clue!.

Well at least we will still have our history to dream about, cause we can't dream about any sort of exciting future, until Henry and co take a walk!.

04 Sep 2012 22:34:40
Cannot believe all the negativity! Do people seriously think we are worse off than we were?? The club was close to a financial meltdown, FSG effectively saved us and paid off all our debts - the thanks? - abusive comments sent to j. Henry's wife?! come on people show some class!

Also, yes the squad has been trimmed, but for good reason. The players mentioned - Kuyt, Bellamy, Maxi, Aqua (and i could go on) were all on big wages and not exactly prolific so what's the problem? So what we lost out on Dempsey (wasnt sure about him as a signing anyway) and some of these posts are building him up as the missing link or something - HES NOT MESSI!!

We are starting to play some very nice football, and I for one believe the goals will come from our current crop of players. Think Borini will do better centrally with Suarez and Sterling off him and cannot wait to see what Yesil does for us (kid is gonna be an Anfield legend!)

Its only 3 games in, plenty more time and I believe BR is the man to lead us to back to the summit of English football once again so can we just show the rest of the world that ' THIS IS ANFIELD!!' and get behind our team again!

Sorry for the essay! and thanks Eds yous are doing a great job, though all this constant free agent gossip (about the same free agents) as well as constantly explaining the rules around the transfer window must be really annoying for you guys!

Bill (An Irish Red for life) {Ed001's Note - annoying is not the word!}

Aha!.
Saviours one day, Dictators the next.
Henry and co deserve the crticism.
We can't tolerate sheer stupidity and ambivalence.

Just want to say, that it wasnt fsg or br's fault. It was ian ayre and his team. they were the ones trying to get players on the cheap. They should take the blame. We now have to get behind Brenden and the team, and make the best of things. All this, gerrard isnt happy with the way we play, jamie wants owen, pepe is past it. Call yourself fans. Go and support Chelsea or City, if you want instant success. But me like the majority, will support my club through good times and bad. Win or lose.

Mate maybe your trying to blame everything on ian ayre or ignoreing what the owners sayed. In a letter he made it clear that it wasn't lack of desire from staffs getting players but our policy is getting players with resale value. So he indirectly says Dempesy doesn't fit the policy it means owners didn't want Dempesy

Media press release, formulated by some 'spin doctor'.
Its called 'damage control'.
How can you even believe it, you gulliable person.

Why the club is finding players with resale value. Are we CREWE or something. Even Fergie got RVP who is 29 at 20 mil which he said he want to win the LEAGUE, CL not sell him in 2-3 years time for resale value. Why not FSG BUY all Players at age 21-22 so we will be a GOOD selling CLUB not a club to win anything. ISTANBUL look like dream now. We need player who can fight for the club now not player who sit at the bench and sell them for a price. If that is so, ALLEN is showing he is a massive talent. FSG might be licking their fingers on his RESALE VALUE. So BYE BYE ALLEN in 3-4 years time. You heard from me first.

The owners themselves took the trouble to write an open letter to fans to explain they did not agree with the signing. How then can you conclude that the lfc executives were at fault. They would need sign off from the owners before spending such large sums.

And don't bring your myopia down on Reina. He along with the defence were the third best in Epl during last season in goals against. You don't just become poor overnight. Maybe it has something to do with introducing a passing system that players aren't comfortable with. Because they have shipped 7 goals so far after 3 games compared with 40 in the entire season under Clarke/kd. On this trend goals against will be around 56-60 for the full season. Have a look at where that potentially puts us on last seasons stats. Need to score 70plus to avoid falling further into trouble.

Yes and it came too late on the last match of the season.

04 Sep 2012 22:08:37
Hi Eds, what's the current situation with Suso, is he on loan or available? L19Red {Ed001's Note - available and named in the U21 squad, Genk announced his loan move a bit soon.}

Is that why he didn't go on loan because they announced it too soon?

04 Sep 2012 21:27:35
Eds do you know when Joe Cole is fit?

Mighty reds {Ed001's Note - officially due back on the 15th, but truly he will never be fully fit, he is a crock like so many others, he has to be managed to get through games.}

04 Sep 2012 21:03:56
Well this sums our situation up perfectly... A poster just now posted the lyrics of YNWA and what happens, majority disagree... I think the whole concept has been lost on the fans of this great club.
I started supporting Liverpool watching the fans on tv, when they sucked a Neil Mellor goal into the Anfield nets against Arsenal. Neil Mellor for goodness sake!
Against Olympiakos, would Sinama Pongole seriously have scored if it wasn't for the fans? Not at all...
Half time against AC Milan, need I say more
Every big game in the premier league since then, there's a reason the players players pick up their games...the fans. It's honestly not a coincidence. We could get Igor Biscan and Djimi Traore to have world class performances... Be honest, we have a far better squad then in 05 and are only 2-3 players short of seriously competing on all fronts. Ok, this transfer window let us down...get over it, because you know it's not a quick fix. Liverpool made its history over 120 years of hard work and support. Is one transfer window seriously going to destroy your faith in this institution. The Arsenal game felt like it was our players against the world, where was our support?! I have never set foot in Liverpool, but the way I would make a dent in Anfield screaming for my reds and everyone involved in the club would be terrifying. We need to pull together and scream for not against. I'm not going to say go support another club because every voice counts, but only in a constructive manner.
Come on you red-men. All of you

04 Sep 2012 21:46:22
(This is a reply to Shushyboy's post a while ago but can't find that post right now so can you post as a seperate post/thread)

I think the only problem was carroll who wasn't replaced because sahin was brought in on loan as a replacement for adam and allen for spearing(gone on loan). So the two loans cancel each other out really. The only player missing from last season's squad was a striker so we actually are two strikers short. That would have been fixed if we got dempsey and sturridge/walcott/damiao etc. But that is the past and what the team really needs right now is thge support from the fans. The most embarrassing thing from the Arsenal game was our fans. We never really showed the amount of support we did against city. If we had shown even a litl bit of that support, the result could, and porbably would, have been different. Even if we lost then, we would have been proud that we tried our best. So lets go every match and support the team. As Rodolfo said after the U21 match vs Man City, the players have to concentrate for 90 minutes, not just 89 minutes and 59 seconds. We, as supporters, MUST make sure that they do exactly that. So let's go and be proud of our club and we WILL be back to being the very best.

04 Sep 2012 21:07:09
I think the owners and BR have sussed the overall dissasifaction over the lack of goals fire power. give the younger players a chance. lets get some good results- as in not lose. the role of stevie g now, has never been so important for the club {Ed063's Note -

04 Sep 2012 21:06:26
SoS has replied to Henry's letter and thier response ironically mirrors many of the complaints that Boston Red Sox fans have of Fenway Sports Group. A dysfunctional management team that is not on the same page, and an ownership that is tone death to the concerns of the fans.

Still got faith in FSG?

04 Sep 2012 21:01:24
6 points from our next 2 games will be tough but we can get them . If we do then happy days and then we are over the bad start we knew we had . Let's just get right behind the team and get those 6 points . It's going to be up and down for a while but it will come good .

Jamesy

You'll be lucky to get 1 point!sunderand away will be difficult and untied will whoop you's

Eds,
Do you think we will be bringing anyone in on a free or do you think some of the young players (Morgan, Ngoo) might get a chance?

Cheers

Dan

04 Sep 2012 21:00:44
the club has gone downhill since carroll left

No...

but maybe since Carroll was left out of the system by Rodgers...

The clubs been going downhill for years. 5 years ago we would be targetting winning the league not a top six finish

04 Sep 2012 20:55:42
How bad can things get? Just read that Del Pierro is to turn us down for Sydney, WTF?? We can't even attract a has been like that? This is totally ridiculous, what the hell do we do now? Suarez and Borini are both sh**e in front of goal, they've both missed virtually every chance they've had. Things can only get better? We'll see. {Ed063's Note -

Your a fool, go support another football club!!

04 Sep 2012 20:51:36
iam as p*ssed off as many of you are. but this is the way it is and we have to go with it like it or not. we surpport a great club and yes we do have problems at the moment and we live in hope they will sort them. its time to move onwards and upwards i hope. WE ARE LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB and thats who we love and surpport. so lets get back to surpporting the club we love.

04 Sep 2012 20:49:15
Hi all.

a quick question..
I really can't see what was wrong with signing a 27-29 year old striker.
I know it does not fit the fsg profile, but i think they might have got this wrong.

Ok they might have no re-sale value, but if you may get 2-3 years from them and they score 20 goals a season? Like we have all said if we had this quality this should get us into the champions league places within the next 2-3 years.
So if their wage demands were not excesive and we paid say 12-16 mil for them and gained champions league football it would pay for their transfer and wages?
Just a thought..

Phooey

04 Sep 2012 20:48:33
Just some points......
number one - Why are people saying we are linked to Del Piero....he was never a striker and a striker is what we need...
number two - Why do we seem to be so hung up on bringing in a striker out of contract, unless its Anelka or Drogba for a season i wouldnt even be looking at it, id go with Borini in the middle due to being told by Rodgers he was a fox in the box....so why play him wide then.....
number three - Has Rodgers done some sort of deal or arrangement with Suarez promising him a role down the centre if he signs a new deal?...just a thought but any fool can see he does more damage coming in from wide.....
number four - why hasnt anyone done anything about the total ineptness of a certain Mr Ayre......
number five - Does anyone apart from myself think Rodgers looks as lost as Hodgson on the touchline when it goes wrong?...I like the guy but i cant see him making top decisions under pressure in games
number six - Why do we have this precious tv station of ours when all they want to do is dumb down apparently the most knowledgeable fans in the world when theyve got something controversial to say?....
Im trying to keep the faith, but its hard right now.....
Fan of 39 years.....YNWA

I tell you what do some people on here not know the word support because I don't see much of it,I see winge winge we didn't sign him,FSG are not doing this,well the club has been run into the ground over the years with bad managing upstairs cupple that with poor signings with high wages and sooner or later we will go bankrupt errr wait we nearly did,I'm not a tinted glassess fan just observing that FSG are trying to reduce wages and keep us self sufficient and yes they ballsed up on the carroll situation with no replacement but we still spent £30 ish million,we might of spent more if we were in the champs league and another maybee is that we might of got a big high profile signing that the FIFA football brigade want but were in transition and transition is not 3-5 games it's more like 15+ so still have a rant because I do but let's not forget why we are here and lets back the lads cheers pk

Bit frustrated at the minute and had my note book out looking at this seasons performances. I have came up with a team that I think would still compete. I've posted my team in Liverpool teams on the left hand side. It starts with reina who hasn't been the most consistent but I've stuck with him. I've gone with 3 centre halfs in skrtel,Coates,Agger I believe these are the best available out an out defenders at the club. Ive gone with Johnson and enrique as the wing backs to provide width for the team. In front of the defenders I've gone for Lucas to sit deep with Allen and sahin infront of him doing there midfield duties supporting the strikers box to box midfield duties with Lucas in behind them breaking up play. I've gone with gerrard as the second striker in behind Suarez I know these two can be lethal on there day as I've seen there link up play. I believe gerrard should start playing more of a striker role as over the last year or two I have not seen that midfield engine. He knows where the goal is as we've seen over the years so I see him now as a deep lying striker. Suarez for me needs to start looking up when in control of possession his end product has not been the greatest so far and I think getting gerrard closer to him would make this work.

04 Sep 2012 20:20:26
Without a salary cap and a draft system football will never be a truly profitable business model - American owners don't realise that - and as a result they run clubs into mediocrity. Even mighty fabled Barca splash the cash when they need to. Well done Liverpool - five years ago you were in the CL final and beating teams like barca at the nou camp and real at the bernabeu - now you're trying to emulate Swansea. Are you the new Villa?

You know what this is the truth and this is what people are writing these Americans have no idea about footbal i mean soccerrrr !

So you're saying that all owners of all football clubs should just accept they'll never make anything from their investment? How exactly would that work?

04 Sep 2012 20:19:22
Ed001 the other day I think you said that Owen was instrumental in getting Fowler out of the club. I have not heard of this before, could you shed a little light in this subject, when you have a spare minute?

Many thanks

Crooky
YNWA {Ed001's Note - I already did, but basically he hated playing alongside him (in my personal opinion based on the way he is, I think he hated the fact that he was always number 2 when God was alongside him) and used to get a nark on about it. Owen would demand that he was played alongside Heskey, so Fowler would never get a run of games and the fans were starting to question why. Especially when Fowler was scoring goals for fun still. Rather than get rid of the little money grubber, who never gave a monkey's for the club and only cared about money, Houllier decided Robbie had to go.}

04 Sep 2012 20:18:30
I think BR has the message now on the problem with our strike force, Sterling and Downing ought to be used "ecomonically" across all competitions coming up soon, to try to get the best out of them- I cannot see them both playing in the same side. Good results as in not losing is the key- to instill some confidence. I think Stevie G's Role for the team now has never been more crucial

Guess Suso is seen as a wide forward (on the right)

good for him though hope he gets his game time.

04 Sep 2012 20:07:42
Rodgers is a bright young coach joe Allen is brilliant shelvey is developing faster than I thought (bulked up a bit what's he been eating?) sahin is talented (needs time) Martin Kelly is quickly turning into a very good footballer as well as defender not forgetting suso,dan smith,ngoo & some of the other young lads,Sunday was disappointing but the foundations are there we live in a culture of instant gratification I personally do not believe this is conducive to continual success,let's give it time........ Get well Lucas! Y.n.w.a. Paisley's genius

04 Sep 2012 20:05:19
I'm a positive fan and I don't believe the hype, but put it this way, Suarez gets injured and that's top 4 goodbye...

Top 4 was never an option

Bottom four is our first priority .......... getting out of it .

04 Sep 2012 20:00:39
Why isn't downing playing?

Do u really have to ask lol

04 Sep 2012 19:59:11
There is no point in crying about who we did or did not sign i think we need to get behind BR and the team now and see what we can do until the Jan window if only one more young player broke in to the team won't be great. I think in Jan we might have £15 or £20 mill to spend if the right player can be got. Great site Ed's would not miss it.

Thats what they said about this transfer window ,plus did you not read JWH's open letter about they would not pay the money they were asked , and that they will use the youth players , as good as some as the lids are it does not ,ake up for experience and the strenght of the older players , look at the age of swanseas michu , he has not needed a year to bed in like downing has , and he is scoring for fun , i cant see any of the young talented kids doing the same at our club

04 Sep 2012 19:56:34
So now the squads are registered with the league is that it as far as incoming players are concerned until January? I'm still hoping for a miraculous last minute addition so it would be good to know when to uncross my fingers!

04 Sep 2012 19:55:08
do you think the recent down fall of the club feeds into Rafa's ego. He can go around the town thinking to himself, I made this place great.

04 Sep 2012 19:52:57
Would not be shocked if we sold or loaned another 4 players in jan and replaced them more ghosts.

Depends if FSG want us in the top half of the table or not...

04 Sep 2012 19:47:59
At this rate i think i should put my boots back on. I played for Tooting and Mitcham and scored 5 goals in 1999 : ). Thats just the fire power we need.

04 Sep 2012 19:47:16
The most dangerous duo Liverpool has gotten in ages! Reina and his gloves. Hope he will be class again.

04 Sep 2012 19:47:15
Post this plse proper fan loyal home an away theres 2 many people on this site sittn behind a screen waffling on don't Evan go the game be quiet we haven't got off 2 a good start we all no dead line day was a joke the first signing should have been a quality proven striker but didn't happen but we have 2 get behind the team an it will cum 2gether i think we should bring NGO up till January an see wat happens can't do no harm an swerve miggit owen sorry Michael Owen every liverpool fan isn't happy the hearts game at anfeild was the worst game I've watched in 10 years like we wanted 2 go out but we need 2 keep the faith scouser mark .

Eds, not been on here for a few days but what did you make of the open letter by J.W.Henry? I thought it was a joke!

04 Sep 2012 19:31:35
Hi Eds and fellow reds,

Quick question regarding football accounts if anybody can help?

When a player is bought, (let's use Torres to Chelsea as an example) is the transfer fee placed as expenditure in the p+l and "prepaid" over the length of the contract? So Torres' fee would be £10m of expenditure on the books for the 5 years of his contract.

Or are players classed as assets (which is what I would think would be the process) and then their value depreciated over the length of their contract?

Like I say I would think the latter but not entirely sure. My company buys some new furniture and it gets capitalised so seems crazy to me they could be classed as expenditure.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Davey {Ed001's Note - I believe they are classed as assets.}

04 Sep 2012 19:11:22
Ed, you keep ignoring my requests but can you please stop someone posting under my name 'Red Viking' from doing so. I am the original and it is really frustrating to see someone else doing so.

Just can check it is me if you like because it was my computer which sent the first one.

Thanks

Ed am I right in thinking that if you win the Europa league you go into the champions league next season ? If so , I think looking at the teams in it, on paper we should walk it. {Ed001's Note - I thought Europa League winners just got automatic qualification for the Europa League, unless they qualify for the Champions League through league placing?}

04 Sep 2012 18:21:18
Ed, can u give a link of the 25 man squad list that is submitted by the different EPL clubs ? {Ed001's Note - they will all be listed on the FA's site and the Premier League site.}

04 Sep 2012 18:04:34
eds can you please tell me where i can see the inside liverpool documentary??

love the site

04 Sep 2012 17:41:46
hi eds. just wondering, why doesnt BR give assaidi a go. Borini is no good on the wing, he cant dribble, he cant cross, he is not very quick, assaidi has all that. also do you know of any transfers that could be possible in january?
thanks {Ed001's Note - he is just not ready to be thrown in, he was bought for the future.}

Assaidi is 24!!!

So now were buying 24 year olds for the future?
