its ibe that deserves to get the chance. to me he is a better player than sterling. the way he uses both feet for a kid his age is incredible

07 Apr 2013 00:30:54
sterling is much better. ibe is still to do 20% of what sterling did in the reserves.

Malak

07 Apr 2013 10:20:49
NO sorry malak your wrong there, Sterling always looked more exciting because he's a little bit quicker and dynamic. But ibes ball control, technical dribbling and end product is so much better than sterlings. He will be a star next season.

Calum Red

07 Apr 2013 11:09:59
i really really hope I am wrong:)

Nothing I would love more for Liverpool that ibe outshines sterling :)

Malak

Sterling is a speed merchant, nothing more. Hence why teams have nullified him the past few months. Shaun Wright-Phillips mark 2

I for one am made up with what BR's been saying about transfers and I now greatly anticipate the summer window. What I'd realistically like to see would be:

In: Williams, Alderweireld, Alonso, Eriksen, Ben Arfa.

Out: Carra (retiring) Skrtel, Coates, Spearing, Shelvey, Assaidi, Pacheco, Carroll (if he stays then move Borini on)

How in anyway is that realistic? Your deluding yourself if you think that will happen. For starters LFC have shown no interest in Williams, Ben Arfa or Alonso, Eriksen will have his pick of teams, and he has stated previously he wants to go to spain, Alderweireld I thought was Spurs bound. I myself, will be surprised if we end up with one of those five, let alone all of them.

Na for me.

Alderweireld.
De Vrij.
Eriksen.

Would do for starters.

Jonesred

A Wanyama or Capoue would do for me for starters. A top Quality DM would help us reduce shift 50% of the goals we have currently.

Totally realistic.

06 Apr 2013 22:48:04
don't know how true it is that sterling is out injured but this could mean that suso & assaidi might get more chances along with Jordan Ibe who is seen as the most like for like player replacement by BR and the first team coaches.

on the other hand Teixeira could also get a look in as he can play AM or LW, but he is more like suso in that way that he cuts in behind the strikers rather than run beyond them as someone like Ibe would do.

06 Apr 2013 22:37:03
Love us and had Great times at Lfc games but could Utd send those acoustic experts they've hired to Kop regulars?
And ain't joking, Nowhere near what used to be except the very big games. (which there ain't so many of, of late)Sad but true

06 Apr 2013 22:28:08
wanyama would be a class addition

M-H

No he wouldnt.

07 Apr 2013 09:57:59
I agree brisbane!
Will be a waste of whatever he costs the team that buys him!
Remember his brother? He came with double the hype 3 years ago and now can't get a game for chievo!

Eds am I right in saying that Siem de Jong's contract is up this summer? Or has he signed an extension somewhere down the line? {Ed002's Note - It has some years to run.}

06 Apr 2013 21:37:54
ed is there any news on the redevelopment of anfield? {Ed002's Note - It will make the press when there is - the first thing will be the submission of the initial planning application - perhaps soon.}

06 Apr 2013 21:01:28
Hello Eds
Seems in the Summer we will be looking at 1 or 2 defenders and a central midfielder.
Is there any chance or a forward coming in or a winger? perhaps Ben Arfa, Ince or Mertens?
Also any information on Salah, the winger for FC Basel
Cheers W. H {Ed002's Note - Try the search function please.}

06 Apr 2013 20:42:06
sorry guys, Liverpool will not sign 1 single player this summer, because all our targets those we know about and those we don't know about ARE OFF TO SPUDS.
I swear to Guaranga ever time I visit the site I read something like this. its ridicilous:) Haha

Malak

It's not just this site Malak, for years now the media have been reporting 'the player has been attracting interest from Tottenham and Liverpool. ' I guess the Sigurdsson transfer has fuelled this type of thing even more now and probably the fact that both clubs have been targeting regular Champions League football means they have recently been shopping in the same store for players i. e. for those players who are not looking for a team that can pretty much offer guaranteed champions league football every season.

06 Apr 2013 18:11:53
Sorry fellas, but De Vrij and Aldewreld are off to WHL. Erisksen too wants Spurs.

Always nice to hear from you AVB

They already have too much centre backs. So no.

Im sure Eriksen has stated previously he wants to go to Spain not England!

That 2nd post made me laugh

Hi eds
Was just wandering how highly Samed Yesil is rated at LFC.
I have only seen him play a few times and haven't really seen enough to make an opinion on him.
Would love to know what you think {Ed002's Note - He is injured.}

Well, if Spurs collapse and miss out on Champions League football. Liverpool are a MUCH more attractive option.

. Plus, say bye bye to Bale if Spurs finish

06 Apr 2013 20:30:32
in 2-3 years he will be one of the first names in the starting line-up.

I really think Rodgers is beginning to prove his doubters wrong! I hope he continues to prove them wrong as I would hate to see us sack yet another manager. Plus I was in the pub the other day watching the Villa game and I began to get into conversation with a mixed group of fans. Some United, Chelsea, Spurs, Villa and even Everton fans! But what surprised me was they were all stunned by how well Rodgers has done. What I was even more surprised by was the fact that they see Rodgers as the man to bring Liverpool back to the top 4 and given time, even win the league title. So just a bit of an idea of what some opposition fans think about Rodgers! I've been a Rodgers fan since the day he was appointed and I know some may say we are 7th in the league, 29 points behind United etc. but that is mostly down to the start of the season when we were struggling big time. But now, we are playing great football, the players seem to be high in confidence and the results are starting to become more consistent. But I'd just like to say the thing that has impressed me most about BR is his ability to bring out the best in players. Henderson has been outstanding, Downing is also playing out of his skin and the youth players are starting to make an impact. I really hope Rodgers is the man, otherwise I will look like a complete fool!
Cheers,
LS7.

I don't think you will look like a fool mate. I totally agree with what you have said about BR. I personally think now that he has had a full season in the hot seat he know exactly what he wants. With the addition of some signings hopefully we can push on next season and be a real force. I just hope he gets the players he wants in the summer. Cheers

Jamesy

I won't go that far saying he is the man to win us the titlle. but I like the way we play under him. Sometimes we play like our players don't have a clue what they are doing or the manager. but then in the same game he will change the tactics a personel and we play better and look like a team who might squeeze out a win. So I can say he reads the game well and is not scared to change the tactics as well as the players. we are at 7 position because of the start we had as you said and because we didn't have a striker other then Suarez, when we got sturridge we have another option upfront and Coutinho has been doing good so far so we climbed up the table. but still feel that the summer transfer we had didn't go very well. we should have bought a Proper DM, a versetile striker (borini is ok but I still fell not LFC quality and specially for that price) Allen. can't say how he will end up.
With a good summer tranfer we might be able to compete with the big boys
But as I said he is still learning and could be the man to take us to champions league and may be may be a Title shot.
Red 316

Man utd, Chelsea, spurs, villa and Everton fans all in the same place? Is this a joke? It's a good one lol

Malak - Is it true football was invented by the acient Egyptians? I read that a primative form of the game was once played by Eunuchs in Egypt, only they did not have any balls.

06 Apr 2013 16:56:29
I know that land hockey was invented by Pharaohs.
I don't know about football, I don't think so.

Malak

I know the Maya played a rudimentary version of footie. With the losing team being sacrificed to the gods. {Ed001's Note - ancient Chinese played it too.}

Indeed Ed001 is right, the ancient Chinese played it with decapitated heads, often those of their enemies!

And had silk nets.

How can you play footy if your head is decapitated?

06 Apr 2013 14:43:46
Well done ngoo another 2 goals fair play keep up the good work JON 96

06 Apr 2013 15:56:03
if he keeps like this I would most def. give him a new contract and loan him out again!

Malak

And spearing involved in one

Oh god don't start on spearing, we need to sell him quick when he comes back in summer, well I'd give him away for free because he's awful!

Ack17

Ngoo deserves a chance. He impressed in the unders now he's doing well on loan. Brendan should give him a crack in the pre-season

06 Apr 2013 20:29:26
totally agree ack 17.
i think it may be good to keep ngoo, so our defence can train on that type of striker (Giants)

Malak

I was soooo puzzled as to why Brandon Rodgers never gave Michael Ngoo a chance earlier in the season when we needed an extra striker, he gave Morgan a chance and he totally looked out of his element, plus the season before Ngoo was better than Morgan AND Ngoo was playing some good football in the start of the U21 premier league.

maybe he was cautious to the fact that if Ngoo done well then that would have added to the fums of the fans as to why loan out Carroll without a replacement.? and not relising that ngoo is a totally different player.

Is it just me or I smell victory this weekend.

I am going 3 - 0. Suarez, Sturridge and Downing to score.

Maybe just the sweet smell of spring drifting down hope street mate.

Though 3-0 is unlikely and optimistic, it's not unrealistic. I feel without defensive errors and the team clicking as a unit it's definitely achievable on Sunday. We need the win and goal differential.

06 Apr 2013 13:42:55
That new Liverpool Waters project got the OK from the Govt recently I see.
Was that the area where Everton & the Council once looked at building a new stadium on?

No the Liverpool waters is up towards the north end of the city near the heritage market and towards bootle the ground for everton was on the kings dock were the arena is now

06 Apr 2013 13:11:52
Eds, have Liverpool shown any interest in Southampton's young full back Shaw? He would fit into our system brilliantly.
Cheers LincRed {Ed019's Note - Not right now}

No chance of getting him

Can the ed's confirm that he just signed a new long term contract this season? {Ed002's Note - Yes, but there is every chance of a move in the next 18 months.}

06 Apr 2013 13:10:28
De vrij, sakho and wanyama. These are 3 players I'd like to see us buy pre season. I think there the type of players who would come to us and strengthen our squad massively. would be nice to get a world class attacking midfielder forward but I think we should concentrate on not shipping goals at the moment we seem to be doing well going forward it's silly goals we giving away holding us back. opinions please?

I don't usually do this but just wanna say this. What kind of moronic person will disagree with this?

I agree there all quality players who would strengthen our team brilliantly

06 Apr 2013 12:47:48
Good day to you all, Can anybody give me an update on the latest of our development plans at anfield, it seems to have gone very quiet at the moment. Please only real info if you have it and not pure guess work, thnkyou in advance.

06 Apr 2013 12:02:31
What you guys/eds think of weimann (spelling) from villa? I would love for us to go for him. do you no of any clubs looking at him?

06 Apr 2013 13:09:53
we are looking at him actually and have spoken with his agent to keep us informed about the contract situation with villa!

Malak

Have we not learned our lesson from Downing?

What's your source Malak?

Come on lad, let us know, seen as though you know fabucking everything.

Malak

and since you asked which teams are intrested OP
also dortmund and Inter.

Malak

I'd prefer benteke the beast. Strength is the one thing we crave up top as an option for BR. think he could be as good as heskey was in his 1st season with us. (ignore his others!)

06 Apr 2013 10:20:45
I think liv. need a defender carra is retiring

06 Apr 2013 09:54:09
Seems we are linked with a host of players this month. i'm really happy with the fact we are continuously linked with both S. De Vrij and T. Alderweireld.

With Carragher retiring and question marks surrounding both Skrtle and Coates' futures, could anyone seeing us going for both these these defenders?

Alderweireld is nearing the last 12 months of his deal so could be bought for a respectable fee (say 8-12 million) and De Vrij would probably command a fee of 8-10 million.

Only problem with the Alderweireld bid would be we would have to beat others in a possible bidding war. This could take the fee even higher.

If Skrtle was sold I'd expect a fee in region of 15 million maybe 20 million if its one of the Russian clubs. That fee alone could possibly cover the transfers of both Alderweireld and De Vrij.

Could anyone seeing us signing both these defenders?

Jonesred

06 Apr 2013 10:27:45
Skrtel would get in £ 12 million maximum bro.

£12 m would just cover a tranfer of f. eks S. De vrij

say feeynord get 8m, and then signing on fee, agent fees, taxes, wages, which will make the transfer cost more than £ 10m. There is much more than a transfer fee when you are bringing in players.

F. eks, if suarez would go to bayern this summer for £50 million, his transfer would still cost bayern close to £ 60 million, I would think a signing on fee of about £ 4-5 million alone.

Malak

I know there would be more than just a transfer fee? But these two defenders for a combined (transfer fee) of say 20 million is still good business. Both are very young and would have higher resale value.

We are also going to be receiving transfer fees for Carroll, Spearing, Pacheco, also. This would give us more than enough to cover both fees and to invest in other players.

Gotta admit a defence including Agger, Alderweireld, De Vrij, Enrique, Kelly, Johnson (depending on who starts) would be a quality backbone.

Jonesred

Skrtel will fetch £15M upwards and I personally would not sell for anything less

06 Apr 2013 12:15:26
i agree jonsred

but I think it will be hard to get either of them, ed002 said that devrij looks less unlikely because of price & wage demands, and toby is of intrest to half the big teams in europe.

Malak

Totally agree its not a certainty, but we can hope. Both reasonably priced due to Alderweirelds contract and De Vrij reasonably priced.

It's basically a preference from me and with the two being linked with us. For me we do need two defenders this summer. One for Carragher retiring and at least another for one of the departing Skrtle or Coates if not both.

Just in my opinion a defensive unit with these two and the remaining defenders could be a really solid and pacey backbone for many years to come.

Again this is just my preference guys, everyone is entitled to their own choices.

Jonesred

Alderweireld is off to spurs!

06 Apr 2013 15:55:16
when ed002 say it remains a possibilty he will replace gallas at spuds that doesn't mean he is off to spurs 100 % specially when top 4 is everything but certain for spurs and that a lot of teams want him, teams bigger than the deluded spuds like Juventus, Lyon, Arsenal, United, Inter
so when you say he is off to spurs you clearly have a crystal ball to tell all the events of the future and that a 100 things go right so he ends up in london! Please keep your crystal ball info for yourself!

Malak

The back four is not certain for spurs! They are looking for a new left back, a new centre half and possibly a new right back? The chances of him joining spurs are a lot better than lfc unfortunately

06 Apr 2013 18:55:43
he is not a right back nor a left back

who will spuds bench so he can start in the middle?
that will be the first demand to move. To play

He will play instead of dawson?vertongen?caulker?or the best of them kaboul?
He can play RB, but Walker wouldn't be happy sitting on the bench
the more I think about it is very unlikely he will join spuds!
Liverpool need 2 starting CB, Carra and Skrtel will both be gone + coates. on your logic Liverpool actually stand a much bigger chance of getting him but that's not how things work!

Malak

Imo Granqvist from Genoa, will be the Centre Half that we will sign in the summer, He's big, strong, experienced, right footed, and scores goals.
The Cricket

06 Apr 2013 20:53:39
we will be signing 2 CB this summer.
and I wouldn't like Granqvist, very slow. (i have lived in sweden for 14-15 years now and would be absolutly gutted if we sign him to replace skrtel or carra or even coates. ) he is a 6 year older version of coates! and if I remember correctly he was never a sucess in the premier league and wigan sold him after 20 games?

Malak.

Instead of de Vrij i'd have Dejan Lovren as he can play RCB or LCB with equal ease as well as RB and LB

07 Apr 2013 00:35:37
agreed about lovren, but I feel lyon will ask for a totally unreasonable fee.

Malak

What's Kjaer's situation? {Ed002's Note - Lille and Metalist enquired but it went no further. He had a major issue with Wolfsburg's Magath but even though he has now gone Kjaer is looking to leave and a move to Genoa beckons.}

Hi eds and reds, just q quick question. What do you think of rogers backroom staff. Do you think they are any good for us and our team?
Cheers again
Gaz b

I think they are doing an ok job for there 1st season, they have actually kept gerrard fit to play every game so far this season and agger fit too, the only one I can say I don't rate is mike marsh, mever have and never will

Wouldn't it just be easier to send the message and then say James squared?

Puzzled

06 Apr 2013 12:12:34
unless of course you wanted to send the message the three times

Puzzled

I think they must be doing great! Because if you look at all our injuries, most of them have come from in game and Allen's was inevitable.

Backroom staff aside, do the ads think someone should be brought in to have some input into the transfers?
BR is young and has no experience in spending large amounts of money. His transfers have been very hit and miss this season (agreed that others in the past have too). Coutinho clearly looks the best, but the 3 signings (+ 1 loan) last summer have not worked out.
Maybe someone with more football experience should be overseeing the transfers as BR is at the very beginning of his managerial career.
G {Ed002's Note - Clubs do not bring folks in just to have input to transfers. It doesn't and won't happen.}

06 Apr 2013 05:37:59
Just read BR's interview that they are planning for the next season already. so I am assuming that he is definitely staying for one more season. Points to ponder.

1. Is Suarez staying for another season?. I really hope he does.
2. What about Borini?. he still has much to prove. I hope he regains his fitness soon and starts scoring.
3. Are we going to bring in a top striker?. more importantly are we going splash cash. Michu anyone?
4. Gerrard will renew his contract right?
5. What about our defense?I feel we need someone new there.
6. If Reina leaves who are we planning to bring in? Brad Jones is not no. 1 keeper.
7. Hendo should stay and Downing will probably be sold off.
8. What about our youngsters? Shelvey, Suso, Morgan etc.
9. What should be a realistic expectation for next season? Are we going to be consistent enough to mount a top 4 challenge?

Would love to hear your views. Eds and Reds.

I Think suarez might go to bayern

Borini isn't good enough, even the few times he played he wasted good chances

If you mean a top striker like borini or sturridge then definitely

Gerrard should retire a red

We need maybe two cbs

If reina leaves we should go get a new keeper from germany

hendo and downing should both stay they are good squad players

Our youngsters need to be loaned out

If we don't get top4 next season rodgers should go

06 Apr 2013 09:52:00
so many questions, so little answers.

Malak

1. I think Suarez will stay, or at least go for something like 60 mln.
2. Borini will stay at least one more year, but he would be facing a very hard competition. I am not sure he will break through next season, but he definitely has potential - perhaps a season or two of rotations, before he manages to assert his place.
3. No.
4. He is Legend. Of course he will!
5. We need at least one quality centre back, and perhaps an additional rotation option. Perhaps some cover on the left too, but Jack-o might come out good, I hear he's been doing good on his loan. I really hope Kelly would be moved in the middle at some point.
6. Eds say Mignolet is of interest, and it seems plausible. Before that, it was mentioned we might scout German keepers (not Stegen), but this seems to have gone cold.
7. I really, really hope Hendo stays! Downing too, but as a rotational option - he's come out good, and the only reason to sell him would be that this is the last season a part of the investment in him could be restores.
8. I hope some go out on loan. Shelvey has been a particular disappointment for me this season, but he still has loads of potential.
9. We will either get top 4, or be within 2-3 points from it. If Chelsea don't shape up, we will have a shot for 3rd.

Drigan

1. All the signs seem to point him staying for another season. But TBH a bid of more than 50 mills would be hard to decline.
2. His movement off the ball is very impressive but hasn't played enough to judge him. We could have a lot better striker for 11 mills but he is young & I think he will come good for us.
3. Striker isn't on the top of agenda. Splashing cash can have different interpretations. FSG will provide Rodgers enough money to improve the squad + we are going to sell some players.
4. Yeah mate he will.
5. Need to replace Skrtel & Coates with top defenders. We need a world class DM too. Without a proper DM however good your defense is, it's useless.
6. I don't see the reason to sell Reina. He is world class just had a dip in form. Seems to be coming back. very imp for our team. He loves here.
But If Barca comes with ridiculous offer what can we say. Infact we need to bring in a good cover for him. Brad Jones isn't good enough.
7. Hendo should stay. All efforts should be made for Downing to be shipped. His recent form should help us get decent cash for him & replace him with a more potent goal threat.
8. Shelvey & Suso should go out on loan. Suso should go to Spain or Germany to improve his game.
9. If we bring in top defenders, DM, CAM + a more goal threatning winger. I can see us challenge for top 4. Need to make the first 11 more strong.

1. Is Suarez staying for another season?
I think he'll stay for one more season, if we get Champions League he'll stay for longer.

2. What about Borini?
I think he's staying and will be a quality squad player.

3. Are we going to bring in a top striker?
I think one of Kevin Gameiro, Wilfried Bony or Christian Benteke will be that top striker.

4. Gerrard will renew his contract right?
I am absolutely certain he will sign.

5. What about our defense?
Losing Carragher, Skrtel and Coates means we need a partner for Agger, I think Brendan Rodgers will go for Williams.

6. If Reina leaves who are we planning to bring in?
I don't think but really hope Reina doesn't leave.

7. Hendo should stay and Downing will probably be sold off.
I think both will stay, both have proven their quality.

8. What about our youngsters?
I think all will get their chance and if they don't prove themselves they'll be loaned out by January.

9. What should be a realistic expectation for next season? Are we going to be consistent enough to mount a top 4 challenge?
I think we should definitely be competing until the end of the season for a Champions League spot.

06 Apr 2013 20:39:39
I really hope Suarez stays.
Money will not replace him, even if the most positive of supporter can say we will buy 2 players to replace him and improve the squad in other areas, it will be a season of transition again. 7-8 new players will need atleast 5 months to blend and become a unit and Brendan may be used as scapegoat if results doesn't come around, and that would set us back a couple of years again.

But if Suarez himself pushes for the move, I guess there isn't much we can do, and the horrible brain washing media won again.

Malak {Ed002's Note - This whole "period of transition" excuse is pretty poor. Clubs change managers and players all of the time - it is a feeble and embarrassing excuse to roll out year-after-year.}

06 Apr 2013 21:06:39
and how is that working out for chelsea ed002?
its no excuse bro/sister in my opninion at least. whatever that matters for.

if our top scorer is gone and his replacment doesn't deliver and becomes a 'flop' where does that leave us?
you know ed. I have relized we are not city or united or chelsea. if they loose players no problem, but we are in a different ball park, don't you agree?
I mean, we are lucky to have him and his next team will be too. If he leaves at least I hope we get a good fee and a replacment who will hit the ground running.
but if he didn't wouldn't you agree that we will be in transition until the real suarez replacment is at the club?
and then our best player by then will be sold again because of his big ambitions etc. money runs football now sadly, and commitment and loyalty are dead words. So I see it like this, we have little exp. in the squad, if suarez leaves I assume reina will too, maybe agger. it will most def. won't be easy.

Malak {Ed002's Note - It works out just fine - Chelsea won the Champions League last season and top the rankings still. They have won the league three times recently and a hatful of cups. Nobody has ever mentioned transition.}

06 Apr 2013 21:11:23
stabilty is key ed to any kind of sucsess. or you need to keep putting 100s of millions in it, which I understand from your comments which I believe 1000% will not be happening anymore at Liverpool. Good anyway because we have just wasted that money.

Malak {Ed002's Note - It makes no difference - your example of Chelsea shows that. And I can give you plenty of similar examples.}

2; Fiorentina wants Borini.

give them £14m + Borini for Jovetic

06 Apr 2013 23:27:18
i really hope I don't get blocked for having a different opinion :S

Malak

07 Apr 2013 00:42:15
i don't know why people are writing off borini before he's even started. how do you know jovetic will be a hit if he joined us? and how do you know that borini will not stay fit and play in position as a striker and be a good signing after all? he was played out of position, and each time he gets close to full fitness he gets a broken foot or a broken shoulder! Unlucky injuries. I still hope he comes back this season and gets a couple of goals from the bench in the last couple of games so people lay of his back a bit. Why do you think Fiorentina want to replace the 'all mighty jovetic' with borini?
