6 minutes gone and Spain U-20 lead Australia thanks to two assists from Pacheco - the 2nd was a brilliant pass. It is said that he is arrogant and lazy - someone has got to knock some sense into his head and then he will be a brilliant asset to Liverpool. Give him a couple of years and he will be worth 20 million plus.

Typical of fans,i shake my head for us fans.......yesterday the team was not good enough, today they are world class.
mata is nothing, downning is far better than him. who needs mata?
carroll is a monster, if he doesnt play well they say he is not fit.
bring on prem 2 days ago we were rubbish,we will struggle to make top 6. today we are the team to beat in prem. when the team lost 2 in a row, hell was let loose. fan were spitting venom, some were shooting from the hips while some said it was only friendly, it is all about fitness. the team won today against a good team, no venoms, no shots and no talks of fitness as an excuse. the truth of the matter is we fans are fickle bunch. am not leaving any fan out, we are all guilty of this.
i 'll reserve my judgment on the team though.

i personally dont think we need enrique aurelio played well today and so did robinson.i say if aurelio is injured use johnson if not robinson.the most important position next is cb and i for one would prefer dann as he is the cheaper option and has the same attitude as carra.is great in the air and would be solid with agger at the back.we are losing ayala and i expect kyrgiakos to leave aswell.next we need a pacey winger/striker and the best option is park chu young but first we must get rid of useless ngog. if we sell aqualani and meireles we must go for moussa sissoko great young player. so summary:

Just got in from the match.
Played Ok
Left back position covered well by Aurelio and Robinson.
johnson off after 5 mins injured ?
Ngog needs to be replaced.
Aqua, Downing and Adam played really well.
Valencia played got football but nothing upfront.
We desperately need a Quality right winger and back up centre forward plus Cahill for centre back..
Not a bad crowd good to see all the kids getting a chance to see the reds.

I have to say it was nice to see rafa at Anfield today watching both his ex clubs. Some of his buys doin well still, lucas, agger, auralio. With kennys signings were sure to do well. It was nice to have Lucas back and Carroll played well starting to look sharpe. with a few lads to come back from injuries and Mr copa America to return this week......I for one cannot wait for the week to be over roll on 3pm a week today.

Hope u can shed some light on this aqua insua and degan were giving squad numbers during the week 97 98 99.
Then tonight aqua was wearing 15 all the other players were wearing there own numbers so I checked the website at half time and aqua was still listed as 97 but insua and degan one again have no numbers.. Are both insua and degan close to going and has aqua decided finally to stay hop so as he looks good battled well tonight.. Hope u can shed some info on this are even anybody else if they coped on to it ..

All this talk of Henderson not being good enough to play on the right wing makes me laugh. When have liverpool ever played with two out and out wingers?
When Barnes was playing, Houghton played on the right and tucked in and when Johnston played on the right, Whelan was playing on the left with Souness and Molby in the middle. Stop talking sh*te and leave the lad alone. Get back to your Xbox or razzle. Kenny knows what he's doing.

Bring in Barton on a free, let Aquilani move to Italy for around £10m. Honestly don't think we would be missing that much in terms of quality. Barton proved himself last year, he's a Liverpool lad, seems to want to play at a club with stability and passion. If Aqua wants to leave, let him go and bring in someone who wants to play for us. £10m profit right there.
Next, I'm gonna go on a whim here, please don't crucify me. Henderson does not seem comfortable on the right. He doesn't play up high enough, doesn't work the touchline, always coming inside. He's just much better has a central midfielder. Here's the solution: David Bentley. Why not? He doesn't want to be at Tottenham and they don't want him. Has a great right foot, a bit of pace, and is still only 26 despite having bags of experience. Get him in the squad, have him put it on Andy's head. Would be a good bit of business for me.
Then, use the £10m from the Aquilani sale to bring in a center half. To me, that just seems like strengthening the squad without much outlay. {Ed001's Note - I would hate to see what you would call weakening the squad if that's what you call strengthening it!}

Also, with Downing looking excellent today on mainly the left, does it not highlight even more than we could do with a 2nd Downing on the right? I mean Henderson seems more suited to the middle of the park than right wing?

There has been lots of talk about carroll and downing the last few weeks and I hope that some of the doubters have been shown tonight that both will be great players for us over the coming seasons. I would like to mention henderson tho, he didn't see much of the ball tonight but when he did I thought he looked composed, comfortable and classy. I think he will turn out to be a class player over the next few years and a canny signing by kk. I think you all can see what Downing brings to lfc. I think he was a quality signing. Very intelligent player with the ability to switch wings and has 2 great feet. Has much more speed than given credit for. Andy has to be really excited and when Saurez comes in I think we will be very attack minded. Aurelio and Downing look great on the left and if only fabio could stay healthy we could save 8-10M on a Lb that is no better than Fabio and young Robinson. Beginning to get very excited by what KK is putting together.

very good first half, lots and lots of positives, good football, the desires there, downing looks very very good, carroll is working his socks off without the ball closing down, chasing defenders, pressing the keeper, defence have been good, reina's had nothing to do, so that proves the defence have been alright,
valencia have had most of the ball, but liverpool will let them have it all night if they plan on doing nothing with it for another 45 minutes, very happy with that performance, excited by downing, making our wing play come to life which les face it, nobody's done that for quite some time, come on reds,

Strong reports in Italy suggest that Snejder is playing his last game for Inter Milan, as he is expected to sign for Man CITY in the next few hours. Not sure if that is gonna happen, but it is sure to free a player or two in city, and Kenny might give Jonson or Millner a second chance. Furthermore, wouldn't Silva be worries, since his favorite post is exactly the same as Wesley's? I really don't see him a natural winger, even though Mancini plays him there.

I must be one of the few Liverpool fans that thinks Daglish and Comoli need to be shown the door before its too late. Still no quality at the back. I always thought you build a side from the back. There is a good reason we've finished 6th n 7th in the last 2 years. Very poor defenders and they are all still at the club. Sort it out b4 its yet another season down the swanny

Regarding Alberto Aquillani , can anyone help to make sense of buying a broken player for £20mil, getting him fit , then loaning him out on a yearly basis until his contract runs down then possibly to leave for peanuts. I know these deals are pre NSV and KD , but surely given his obvious quality we should seriously find a way to play him in our team and help justify the time any money invested in a very skillful and useful player.

I was walking down Liverpool city centre when I saw Damien Commoli in the distance. He dropped a piece of paper, with various coffee stain upon. I turned over the stained sheet to witness Liverpool's team for the new season including Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta and a certain Titus Bramble. Commoli then came running back, with a slight limp may I add, and demanded for me to hand back the paper, trying to use a unique hynotist method to rid my memory. Fortunately the Frenchman's tactic failed. I then woke up from my dream wondering what happened and reflecting on the event until I noticed Damien in tight lycra underwear, tempting me to rub his back and we would forget about the whole thing (he was threatening millitary action for seeing the new Liverpool team). Although he doesn't look much Damien has a way with words and that's why i'm able to tell the story to you all today.

Many fans are being far too optimistic, the players we have signed (looking to sign) I feel will not get us any higher than 4th unless City, Chelsea and United have poor seasons which realistically I cant see happening.
I hope for the best but until we get back in the Champions league and start signing world class players I dont think we can compete for the title.

Had a weird dream last night that we had signed mata.Im sure i was raving how we are going to win the league.My mrs hasnt said anything to me so i mustnt have talked in my sleep.Anyway,i cant wait for next weekend.If we can keep our squad fit and healthy i can see us pushing the likes of man u and citeh all the way.Predicting Charlie Adam to have aa massive season. Not really LFC news but looks like Man City have got Sneijder. It sickens me that they are 'doing a Real Madrid' and spending endless sums on the best players in the world (who are all too happy to accept - probably with no idea of who Man City are). Personally, I would root for the scum before City - at least they have worked hard and earned success. Hope kenny and co hammer them home and away. I don't even blame the supporters (most are more authentic than ManU's) but the sheiks and the Abramovichs are destroying the game.
I'm so glad I support a real club, with real values who's staff and players respect and honour its ethics.

My realistic prediction for coming season.
1.it pains me to say but Man U will be team to beat and no 20 is a posibility they have added depth with joans and young.
2.city to challenge united but loose title due to mancini and big ego's.
3.liverpool to challenge but miss out and finish 3rd. Kenny as a manager is going to make big difference. And we may be in. Title race till jan-feb.
4. Arsenal to finish fourth but trust me those kids can do anything remember what dourtands young team did in germany.although leagues are different.I expect wilshire to be a star performer this season.
Chelsea to struggle big time. I think terry wanted a puppet manager and he got it in vila boes.(spelling). Lampard and terry are not getting fast. And I fancy them to destroy chelsea season.
These are my predictions for top. Any points?

What happened about the rumours of Vargas.....that guy is proven left back and could be better than Enrique anytime....
And I really don't see why we don't bid for the Greek CB - Vasilis Torosidis...this guy is class, strong and would be much much cheaper....I rememebr back during Rafa's time that we signed Kyrgiakos.
And I am the one who is posting almost everytime we should really sign this guy Sotiris Ninis(21 years) as right winger....what do you say guys.

Defensive frailties in pre-season are a real worry for me, the amount of goals we have leaked has been truly scary, it doesnt bode well for the start of the season at all. Is there disquiet in the camp? I cant understand for the life of me what is going on pre-season friendlies isnt anywhere near as intense as life in the Premier League, its a real worry if you ask me. Who in your opinion are the defensive plugs we need to reverse this worrying trend, personally I would like to see Cahill AND Dann, the defence is the area where the most urgent work is needed but who do you think are the most likely recruits?

Regarding Deadwood it is a tough job almost no team are interested in these money grabbers & above it some of them wants to stay at the Club no matter they plays or not. ( Poulsen & The Greek). Joe Cole is looking likely he will end up some where on loan with LFC paying part of his wages. Aquaman is more or less likely to return to Italy before the end of transfer window. David Ngog may also leave if a good offer comes in (6M-8M) / in a player exchange deal.

The most likely to sign before the season starts are both Enrique and Dann to fill the left back and centre back slot perspectively.
Hopefully, after those 2 deals being finalise, Liverpool will bid for a back-up quality striker in Park Chu-Young.
I believe that Sterling should be given a chance to shine and bit a bit part of the new season.

Hey eds, more of a point really, just watching us being linked to various defenders both left back and centre back, for me Gary cahill is our centre back with Danny agger over Scott dann, if you had a choice of dann or cahill or in fact someone else, who would u pick, cheers

Just a thought about our hangers on for want of a better term , have they so little desire or respect for their careers that they are unwilling to take a pay cut and move on . Lets face it no premier league footballer is on the breadline and any drop in wages would not have anywhere near the same impact it would to the average working class person. Lets face it the modern footballer is motivated only by greed and not the desire to play regular football . If as reported deals had been agreed for poulsen and ngog only to fall through because of wage demands these players and ant more like them do not deserve support from our loyal fans as they have proven LFC means nothing more than a cash generator . Its a sad state of affairs when so called professional footballers are happy to sit out a fair chunk of their careers and watch their already swollen bank accounts swell further while the fans who actually contribute to their wages struggle week in week out. I may be being naive but it makes me sick.

I've been thinking of all the past great players at all the big clubs. You read of tales of ex players having to flog their medals to get by, ex players living or suffering in hard times.
And i just don't get it. The English game is awash with money. Average squad players on 20,30,40,50k a week. Multi-millionaire Agents.
And yet every clubs has their own list of heroes.
The players that made the history and brought the glory.
To me, these people should be millionaires. Surely the game should find some way of sorting this out.
You know, is Gerry Byrne a millionaire, Ian St John, Tommy Smith ?
To me, the game or their club, should look after these people their entire life. Take a % off wages, or profits, or Sky, whatever.
But it just doesn't seem right. I honestly don't know the status of the lads I mentioned above, but you all know what I mean. For an industry to award failure or mediocrity as lavishly as it does today, and seemingly forgetting past heroes, just does not seem right.
That's my thought of the night.
