I am sorry to say this . but I think FSG and BR both very slow in making decision . more then 2 years still don't know about stadium . and did BR really know his target and the money he need to buy them ? Tottenham move fast and I am worried that Liverpool may fall behind Tottenham again.

r-r

Are you serious! The stadium issue is a long drawn out process. People's livelihood need to be concisered. It isn't just a simple choice between a new stadium or redevelopment. So many factors need to be weighed up before a final and decisive decision.

As for Rodgers, how long has he been back at training. And that is only with a hat full of players. Transfers do not happen overnight either. Rodgers and FSG have plans just have a little patience.

James Mc

Thats it, I've really had enough of mindless people like you! Call yourself a supporter?!?

Have you got any idea how long it would take to negotiate over 100 separate deals with local residents for the expansion of Anfield. Not businesses but just normal people who all want something different. How about a local council as well, then a county council, and 2 different national political parties? Even buying a single house can take months give them a f****ing break FFS! Thats what has to happen before they can even compare the cost of expansion to building Stanley Park. Only once all that has been done thoroughly will it be a "decision" we're waiting for. At the moment its due diligance.

And as for Rodgers, why don't you think about it like this. (Actually why don't you just think about it! ) You've just been hired as the IT Director for a huge company. You have a team of 30 people looking after all your systems. You've been asked to completely updat all the companies systems within 3 months of taking over. In your first month in charge 25 of them are away on holiday at the same time, so you have no way of knowing what any of them do, no way of knowing if you get on with them, what their specialities are, who gets on with who, who needs to be sent for training on new systems. You've been told that 3 of them aren't very good by a few but you don't know what they actually do in your team. You then get them back together for 2 days and some jumped up **** on an internet forum starts calling you an person for not having fired the ones who don't fit and already hired their replacements.

Can everyone just let them get on with it and whinge if they get it wrong, not just because they havent sent you, the most special person in the world a hand written note every 6 hours updating you with their inner most thoughts!!!!!

FatJanMolby

Theres a lot of issues regarding the stadium with people that live round there. You have to understand that people have homes there, have lives. Its a process. Everyones gotta be happy, locals, the council, the club.
Its a lot easier said than done.

I prefer the method we've gone with.

The stadium is a legacy issue, and if we make the wrong decision it will have far reaching consequences. We've waited 10-15 years for a stadium solution, a few more months won't hurt anyone

As for Rodgers being slow, I would rather he looked at all the players he has and then decides what he needs to get the team where he wants them.

AVB I believe has not trained with his players and it looks like he is picking from a list already decided upon from Redknapp's time there. THFC also have Sherwood who seems to have a lot of influence, and this makes me think we should have someone in the same sort of role at LFC, but that idea is off the table since Rodgers arrived.

RedSG

Dont panic mate BR is the man just have faith.....

1. They haven't been owners for more than 2 years. It's less.
2. It's what the 7th July (7 days the windows been open)
3. You're an idiot.
4. Go support spurs then

CQ

FatJanMolby hit the nail well n truly on the head! Thank you sir. N only hope your comments r regurgitated time n time again!

R-R, Have you ever built or redeveloped a football stadium or negotiated a multi million pound transfer of a football player......No,me neither....best we leave it to the experts then ;)
Jim22

What ever any one thinks we must stand up and be counted as fsg supporters as they saved us no matter how or why they did it they saved us from a similiar fate than rangers . none of us will always agree with their methods but they are the ones we need to get behind as with out them we would be nothing. red mick tag .ynwa

Fat Jan Molby -
Brilliant post. Just summed it all up.
DJP

Hello jan you made a very good argument and i am with you , we are what we are lets get sorted we are not mega rich but we can win with application and the support of all of the fans , i think the fans helped when we were 3-nil down , lets give every one a chance , i do not like carroll , henderson , downing , adam etc but i support who ever is on the pitch because thats what we do ask jimmi tarore etc , if we do not how can we call our selves the best fans in the world , players will come and go we have had great players and poor quality players but we have won loads . lets stop wanting what the other teams have and support who ever puts the lfc shirt on , if we do not we are being daft. red mick tag ynwa

one of the coaches who left the academy last season told me that suso's progress has stalled dramatically and he can't see him making it at liverpool. the coaches are are said to have been unhappy with his development in the past 12 months as most of them expected him to have broken into the first team by now as they thought he was the most gifted academy player they'd seen in a long time when he first arrived

Suso is also played out of posistion on the RW, if you watch the u19's of spain he flourishs a lot more in the CM posistion. he is having the henderson syndrome plus he was hurt at the start of the season i believe

Did you see him against Italy? Class.

I hope your taking the p*ss, this isn't even funny you know

Why would you spout this utter nonsense? Seriously. He is obviously quality but he has only just turned 18. He will get his chance. He has been playing right wing to work on more areas of his game and has still been one of the top performers. He will be in Liverpool's starting line up for at least one game this season I am sure of it.

BthekingB

Total rubbuish baad post, have you not been watching the guy ?

Rival supporter

If anyone watched him play against Greece a few days ago I am sure they will disagree with this

"expected him to have broken into the first team by now"

Yeh, he'd better hurry, he's racing towards 19yrs old! almost time to retire!

That was suppose to be Portugal.

06 Jul 2012 22:24:43
Lads, I hope the Walcott rumour comes to fruition. He is not the finished article but he has blazing speed on right side which is sorely needed. I think, on his day, he is world class. Perhaps simply needs to play every game, which he didn't at Gunners.

Ed I heard Stevie G is coming to Dublin for a charity match for Autism tomorrow. 2 questions for you Ed.
1.Any idea whether this is true?
2.Any idea if he will sign autographs?
Cheers mate.
DublinRed. {Ed002's Note - If he is there I am sure he will sign autographs.}

I'm pretty sure I've seen pics of him being there today, unless it was another golf tournament in Ireland??

He said on the late late show in ireland he wud be ther for it
livlim

It is a wheelchair game organised by mace

Thanks guys,
DublinRed.

He went for 5 mins and didn't sign autographs! Waiting for 6 hours outside Richmond Park and he brushed straight past me! Huge disappointment but I suppose the money raised goes to a good cause...
Cheers guys,
DublinRed.

If you heard that we Signed 3 players who would you think it would be.

Ramirez, Munian and Higuain

Jovetic, Callejon, Ramirez.

Jovetic, Muller, Ramirez, Coley

Ramirez, Munian, Affelay
Munian, Tello, Holland Striker (Can't remember his name)

I would say 2 and they would be Ramirez and Munian but that's probably never going to happen.

Ramirez, Schürrle and Borini
Jrsoakley23

Jovetic, Ramirez and Vargas

06 Jul 2012 22:48:30
Telegraph reports rodgers closing in on borini

06 Jul 2012 22:39:57
Liverpool will not be signing anyone of importance if they fail to move on the dead wood

06 Jul 2012 22:37:39
The Telegraph are reporting that we are to make Borini our first signing. They are going with the headline:

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers steps up negotiations to make Roma striker Fabio Borini his first signing
Brendan Rodgers is close to making Roma forward Fabio Borini his first signing as Liverpool manager following lengthy negotiations in Italy.

They are saying we will have to pay £7 million for him.

I'm personally not convinced but take what you will from it

Cheers Eds

Red Head {Ed022's Note - It's utter BS.}

Rubbish.

I have to agree with the edo22 on this it is baloni lol

06 Jul 2012 21:57:11
I love this site. Can I just say its about time we had a manager with some back bone. Good to see his recent comments about paying over the odds for players or if you dont want to play for lfc then we dont want you. Credit to the man. The future is bright the future is red.

He showed the real reason why sigardson didn't sign. I think he will sign Ramirez.

06 Jul 2012 21:56:15
Friday night fun. A drinking game for two people. Take it in turns to read posts.. You have to read down the page and everytime you see the words 'tika taka' you have to down your drink. If you see the term 'dead wood' you have to down another drink.

Alternatively, for a more rapid game you could use :
Gaston Ramirez or YNWA or If anyone slags off twitter..

Good luck

Gazman {Ed022's Note - I'd be hammered after 30 seconds.}

Absolute quality gazman...lol..I was paraletic within 3 seconds...lol..Miami_red

Even faster: Down your drink after every spelling mistake noticed on someones post.

Nice to see some create a bit of cheer on here for once good post m8

Spot on! N throw munians name into the mix to ensure you don't wake up in the morning....

06 Jul 2012 21:54:08
Guys stop fretting over transfers... They will happen when they happen. It nice to see Liverpool going back to days of old, when all our business was done behind closed doors.... YNWA

100% agree mate..Old way's are the best way's..YNWA!

06 Jul 2012 21:31:57
Steven Davis gone from Rangers to Southampton that's another we have missed out on i mean can't we even beat Southampton to signings. Should of got Adkins as manager Are we gonna sign anyone soon or just let every other club get all the decent players!

ernie0071

Do you want us to sign players of his calibre, I for one don't! We haven't missed out on anything so relax there mate - BR knows what he's doing .. Calm heads please , we are Liverpool remember !

Get a grip we have missed out on nobody the manager really wanted or thought was worth it yet.
Trust in the manager, be patient and most of all ignore the papers and twitter as they know as much as we do ie. sod all

Seriously, do you think that we really were in for Davis or might it have beeneither newspaper rubbish or shock horror, an agent trying to up the value of the transfer. Please!

06 Jul 2012 21:31:44
No new players.

So from 3 to 4 new players you somehow translated that into no new players?

you must think that Aquilani, Cole, Pacheco and Wilson are the 4 players Rodgers were talking about....

06 Jul 2012 21:26:59
Steven Davis has gone to Southampton cross another off the rumour list .

You mean the Daily Mirror's rumour list!?

Who cares

06 Jul 2012 21:24:49
Really looking forward to the new season and a few new signings, would love to see gaston ramirez, not sure how true the rumours are tho, also would'nt mind someone like wallcot or adam johnson to add some pace to the attack, I know they are prob on big wages but imo would be worthe the risk, great job ed's by the way Thanks Y.N.W.A
Kopbob

Ramirez and Munian would be money very well spent.

Arsenal dont pay big wages dont think

06 Jul 2012 21:07:32
What is going on?

We've lost out on Diame to West Ham, Sigurdsson to Spurs and now Steven Davis to Southampton.

Brendan Rodgers is small time

All them players are small Time, we don't need any of them, there are much better out there.
Paul the red

Are you serious??

Mark the Selby Red

Or maybe liverpool has disappeared of the radar when it comes to players looking for a club

Or are the players too small time for us? Have some faith, he has only just met the players

Another one from the Scott Clinic. Diame and Davis stop it! Liverpool were never interest! I always get agro from the bitters about Liverpool fans being deluded. After looking through post since July 1st I have to agree that we do have many deluded fans!

Fans like you are small time, go get on the bus to goodison pal

I hoping the origional post was a joke.

Them players were targets if you listen to what caughtoffside and the sun say you dowsy f***

More to the point this is coming from a small minded man

06 Jul 2012 21:05:39
Hey eds! Do you think that alonso would come back to Liverpool if given the chance? He's said he misses Liverpool

Cheers, red army {Ed022's Note - He said he wants to come back one day, but I do not see it happening this summer.}

06 Jul 2012 20:59:04
hey up eds page not updated since 6 whats goin on?? {Ed022's Note - Sorry about that, it's all being updated by myself at the moment.}

06 Jul 2012 20:48:51
Who do you Think BR would Rather Sign Wallcott or Ramriez Also are we intrested in jovetic. {Ed022's Note - There is no interest that I am aware of in Jovetic, or Walcott for that matter.}

Ramirez is 10 times the player Walcott is.

As if you came onto this site to ask an ed what Brendan Rodgers is thinking! F***me incompetent isn't even the word

Ramirez every day of the week

06 Jul 2012 20:43:01
can the eds or macca tell us if there is any confirmed interest or contact made by lfc about munian? I recall macca saying we were seriously interested in munian so i was wondering is that still the case? rab {Ed022's Note - No contact at all.}

I think he would be brilliant for Rodgers high pressing game so we may look to him.

06 Jul 2012 20:36:25
A lot of people dismissing players because they don't believe they suit Rodgers' philosophy; I disagree. They dismiss players because they believe these players cannot pass a ball -- particularly wingers. Now if you look at Swansea's wingers, they aren't exactly technical footballers, they're just very quick and unselfish!

Rodger's doesn't play tika taka, he plays pass a move. His teams build from the back... using the full backs and wingers to make the pitch large, then use the midfielders to retain and recycle possession. Therefore, the wingers we're linked with don't need to be great passers of the ball, they just need to be quick and unselfish to make the pitch as large as possible for the retention of the ball. (however, an all-round player would be better -- i'm just saying don't dismiss rumoured targets on the basis on your flawed understanding of his tactics.)

If someone throws out a name like tiki taka everyone is an expert on it but it really is more like tiddlywinks while ther are players who will need to improve the like of hendo will fit right in but of course u will get the player that will do both (aquilani for instance then ur stuck with not dead wood but a sleeper just hope he doesnt sleep as long as rip van winkle how much will he cost us then lol )

Any professional footballer should be able to pass and move does anybody agree with me.tommy irish red.

Marcelo Bielsa has resigned from Athletic Bilbao..
Have the Llorente, Muniain, Susaeta to Liverpool rumours started yet?

He's signed a new contract till the summer of 2013.

I am a Liverpool fan from Canada and heading to the Liverpool-Roma game in Boston. Anyone know where the team is staying and training while in Boston? Wouldn't mind trying to watch the team train and possible get an autograph or two for myself and kids. Any info would be appreciated.

can you please explain me the situation with aquilani.. Why did we even lend him to ac milan.... why is everybody so not satesfied now when he is coming back..
thx
luka {Ed022's Note - Because he doesn't want to play for Liverpool, he doesn't want to be in England and he is a lazy son of a gun who has the emotional maturity on a 'tickle me elmo' toy.}

And he don't want to take any pay cut.

He didnt get played for hs first year and then never featured much and whenever was interviewed seemed abit rude

Its such a pity we can't be rid of AA, nobody wants him, he costs us a damn fortune (not to mention what we paid).
He must easily be the worst transfer ever for LFC.
What a nightmare.

06 Jul 2012 19:54:16
Hi, think i have only posted on here a few times...

Firstly id like to say how gutted i was when Kenny left... Like all of us, really upset by it as i felt he was getting a good squad together, despite our low league finish last season, we still hit the woodwork more than any team in the league and in all the top leagues in Europe we spent more time in the opponents half more than any team other than Barcelona.....

Now we welcome Brendan Rodgers and il be the first to admit i wasnt so sure when he got linked with the job and then appointed manager, but now im so looking forward to him as our manager, he got Swansea playing some really good football last season, he worked under Mourinho who speaks highly of him and hes said how privilidged he is to be manager of Liverpool and you know what, we may well have found a gem of a manager in Rodgers and i for one cant wait for the new season to start and see a few new faces joining as well....

YNWA Kopites

Suso showing some skills in the under 19s for spain. He had a great end of the season for the reserves when Rodolfo started playing him on the right.I can see him breaking through to be a good squad player on the right for us this yr.

Why don't you ever actually answer our question you always say something like try the search function this is a pointless website it doesn't help anyone at all !! Reddy {Ed022's Note - We answer with 'try the search function' because it is the answer to the question which is asked around 50,000 times per day (at least). It gets slightly bloody irritating with people asking the same damn things over and over and over and over and over and over and over again - when there answer could be found with a simple use of the scroll button, or at a stretch, using the search function. What's more difficult, sending in a post and then waiting for a reply, or searching for the answer yourself which will take half the time. Don't be an idiot.}

It's meant to be a rumours page where you post rumours about liverpool fc, not a Q&A page.

Hear, Hear ED! Love the site but the one thing I hate with a passion is people not having the mental capacity to search a potential target or even scroll! I'm sure on September 1st people will be asking if munian is signing in January! Thanks for good work you do n can only apologise for the incompetent making your job harder than it needs to be.

06 Jul 2012 19:50:23
Seeing the rumors about Ramirez and Jovetic, I really think that if both sign for LFC then it's a clear indication that Luis Suarez is moving on. I hope it doesn't happen. ra1969

Not an indication that Rodgers is trying to build a strong team then?!

Clueless

What a stupid post! BR is looking to strengthen the squad. R chelsea looking to sell mata just bcoz they signed hazard? I very much doubt it.

Marcelo Bielsa has shocked Athletic Bilbao with a resignation!

Shouldn't we use that and quickly try to get our targets from Bilbao - Llorente or Muniain?

Reddie

Who says that they're our targets? you?

I've heard recently Chelsea may be about to bid 12m for Dempsy. Is this true Eds because I would love to see him at Anfield next season?

JY Red {Ed022's Note - Nothing that I've heard to be honest.}

Any chance of getting 1 or 2 of these spanish U19 youngsters? Some look technically brilliant, exactly what we should be looking for...

06 Jul 2012 19:08:39

Ed can you see our 3-4 signings being

M. Krasic.
G. Ramirez.
S. Jovetic.
R. Elm.

With the possibility of Afellay?
All these seem viable to me.

Jonesred {Ed022's Note - There is no chance of Jovetic. The only clubs that hold interest at this time in him are Chelsea and Napoli, however his club are not looking to sell at all. There is a possibility of all the other names mentioned though.}

Elm will not be joining liverpool.

06 Jul 2012 18:24:30

He was injured to play i believe but e is at preseason.

06 Jul 2012 18:13:09
I was just wondering who are possible targets lfc have at this current time and who you feel will be leaving. Plus do you think sterling will be given a chance under BR or will he be sent out on loan. Please respond ASAP. Btw cheers for setting up this website it is really intresting and acturate. Keep up the good work for a long time follower. Finally does this site or eds have a twitter account i can follow to keep up to date on all the latest transfer news thanks.

I'll do it ed's.
Use the search function, or scroll down the page. each question has been answered. {Ed049's Note - I hope you understand mate.}

06 Jul 2012 17:49:12
Hi ed! do you think Joe Cole will be given a chance next season. I think I would nearly prefer it because if he does leave i doubt a replacement will be brought in as he wasn't here last year! Cheers!
LFC Folkface {Ed001's Note - I think Rodgers will give any player that stays a chance, he will look at them in pre-season before making a decision.}

06 Jul 2012 15:56:44
Hi eds, something that has been boggling my mind for years is the Mascherano to Liverpool deal. I believe we paid 18 million for him and that included his wages. Who did we have to pay for this and how much did we pay him per week?

Another thing that has boggled my mind is the Glen Johnson purchase. Apparently Portsmouth owed us 8-10m and we bought Johnson off of that debt + 8m. Is this correct? Thanks.

BthekingB {Ed001's Note - no idea, sorry I have no idea who owned Mascherano, but it wasn't West Ham that we paid. I can't remember how much he was getting, he was one of our bigger earners though. Yes, we cleared off the money they owed and then paid the remainder to make a total of 18m.}

Is he Masch not owned by the fella who as dibs on , Kia or someone? As they came to WHU together?
Lee73

Is he Masch not owned by the fella who as dibs on , Kia or someone? As they came to WHU together?
Lee73 {Ed022's Note - I think you mean Kia Joorubchian or however you spell his last name. The guy is a complete muppet to be perfectly honest with you.}

Thats a purchase bad bizzz

The Glen Johnson deal was that Portsmouth owed us £7M from Peter Crouch and we gave the £11M

can people stop posting about siggurdson he has gone to spuds for what ever reasons we need to move on and focus on new targets whoever they may be ! Have to say the club are doing a fantastic job of keeping the targets in house as there is no leaks coming from the club compared to when rafa and kenny where in charge , really hope we sign ramirez though fits the profile of player we should be signing the kind of player that madrid or barca will come offering stupid money for in future years !

Agree about siggurdson .This is a Liverpool site not a Tottenham one.

McGregor from Rangers decent keeper if Reina wants to go, maybe Rangers could do with the money...CM68

Wouldn't mcgregor be a free as he has refused to sign the newco contract at rangers therefore costing nothing i think doni is better than mcgregor or go for ter stegen he looks like he might bgiblet

Agreed good keeper. Would it not be on a free? Everyone else who has left the Gers, there has been no transfer fee involved - Naismith, Fleck, Ness etc

06 Jul 2012 17:49:49
(wat i think from reading rumours at the moment)

Ins.. Stevan Jovetic
Ibrahim Affellay or Theo Walcott
Gaston Ramirez

Thats (ST) (RM) (CM) Covered and would b lovin life..!

Outs.. Doni
Aquailani
Spearing
Pacheco

Smurf..

Who is the CM?
jovetic is SS/FWD
Afellay & Walcott are wingers
Ramiez is Winger/SS/AM

Gaston Ramirez isn't a CM . plays as an AM, RM or a second striker.

That would be incredible but unrealistic.

06 Jul 2012 17:05:40
Ed, re targets that are at the Olympics, is it highly likely that clubs will wait until after the Olympics have finished to submit bids? {Ed002's Note - I really have no idea.}

Obviously he is talking about Gaston Ramirez

I do not know how what I am about to write will be received; but I want to say firstly that I have the greatest respect for the work of the editors on this page. I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to have to answer the same questions day after day and I admire your patience. Personally, I would ignore a lot of the posts or perhaps create a File 13 page where people could see their post along all the others asking the EXACT same thing. However, there is an issue that has been on my mind for a while. I consider myself to be a well-behaved poster. I believe the vast majority of real fans here are also reasonably well-behaved. Yet, when others choose to act foolishly i.e. disagree to a condolence message, use the term dead wood (I admit I might have once), not properly support management, owners or club, use abusive language, etc.; somehow my reputation as a Liverpool fan goes down as well? Isn't anyone responsible for his or her own actions firstly? Some Liverpool fans are idiots, but then again some opera fans are as well. People are people and every time one or two (proportionally) misbehave it's dangerous to point out everyone else. I have been a Liverpool fan for a long time, I have never insulted another club's fan or thought less of them because of the behaviour of a few. Reputation, to me, is not collective and if I'm wrong in assuming this or anything else I wrote; I'll stand up to receive the abuse that I have coming knowing that I only embarrassed myself.

Banter = British term I believe

Irish son

I like the opera I went to see Porgy and Bess a few months ago (Gershwin is top calss ...)
good post as usual keep on posting!

Tom Red

Well there is a line between banter and insults. do people call it banter when the eds take abuse for saying suarez could leave ?
derryred

Kudos Canadian Fan! The majority of sycophants on this site wouldn't have the balls to write those words...good for you my friend! miami_red

Yawn, nice story, should of chucked in a few aliens and stuff

SHED END

I am a Canadian poster and i am British- i was born and raised in Devon so lets not get funny about ware people are from or there ability to understand terms -Im prity sure some of the ed,s are from the us or canada {Ed022's Note - You're correct.}

Lol it's a British thing

Don't you have Paragraphs in Canada? That was hard work son.

Gazman

The origin of the word banter remains obscure, although it appears to have started life in England about three hundred years ago as a verb. Its original meaning was to tease or ridicule, usually in an aggressive manner. Later banter came to be used as a noun and it acquired a slightly less aggressive, friendlier meaning.

Think thats the first time i've seen sycophants and balls in the same sentence. Nice one! Is there no end to LFC supporter talent?

Personally, after the euros, my opinion of Walcott has increased. Before I thought of him as a bit of a headless chicken so I'm not sure he would fit in with BR's system. Do you think he'll leave arsenal and would we be in the mix for his signature eds? Cheers!

I don't think he's as good as the uk media think he is.
He would have a inflated transfer figure because he is English and from a rival.
We could get a better player for a lot cheaper, easier and on Lower wages.

MIKEY

Well his end product is shocking but at the age of 23 he can still fix that i guess. i doubt there will be much of a place for him at arsenal next season and he will likely be a fringe player, but we will have to pay too much to get him i think.
derryred

He has only 1 season left and he won't be renewing his contract so around £12m is not over inflated at all

Pacheco in training, do u think he will be given a clean slate?

I think he should although i have no idea what he done(would love to though)but he came on under hodgson i think and looked way better than ngog he actually set up ngog and looked real lively

It depends if he shows up on time.

My understanding is that it wasnt one specific thing, just general attitude problem.

Pacheco's problem was his attitude. he thought he was to good to train the way he was told and his timekeeping was abysmal. He undoubbtedly has talent and is a younger version of Suarez for want of a better description. He's back because his loan is up. Whether he remains with is, goes back on loan or is released remains to be seen however Athletico (who he was loaned to who then in turn loaned him on to a another team) don't seem to be interested in buying him. RED LENIN

Ok cool thanks that might be easier to forgive if he shows up on time??wat?

I think he'd suit our style but he isn't good enough, may be a decent player in the Europa league (But I guess my opinion is that a younger team should play in those competitions)
Looking at it, in the Carling cup we could play

Doni
Flannagan - Kelly - Coates - Robinson
Henderson - Coady
Sterling - Shelvey - Suso
Pacheco

Wouldn't be a bad team in all honesty, may struggle against top opposition and I think Henderson may replace Gerrard at times as he tires.

Lets face it, Pacheco is 'not all that'. I wish we'd stop going on about him. If he was any good, why would 3 successive LFC managers not see it and 3 clubs he went on loan to (including a 2nd tier Spanish side in Vallocano) not see it?

Lets concentrate our hysteria on Sterling & Susi!

Red G

Because if they got told he has bad attitude dont play him like babel

Hysteria??o.k well i wont get hysterical over any player but you feel free

Having watched liverpool the whole way through last season i am sure like most fans became frustrated as we played brilliant football and dominated matches but couldnt score nobody seemed to have the confidence to shoot so when we got near the goal the ball was passed back and we started all over again if brendan plays the same system as he did at swansea and implaments spains famous tiki taka system in a 4-3-3 formation i think he will use enrique and johnson nearly as two wing packs constantly bombing forward lucas will be played in a deep cdm role with gerrard playing slightly infront of him in the centre of the park i think that if we do get gaston ramirez he will be brilliant and is what we need in a creative cam midfield role this is what man city have in david silva and now what man united have bought in kagawa if he is bought he will play infront of gerrard and lucas constantly creating chances for the fron three i fell that rodgers will play suarez in the right wing position but close to carroll who will play the striker role and then in left wing i think rodgers needs to bring in somebody with real pace and attacking ability i think he should slowly play sterling more into this position if rodgers can implament the tiki taka style properly and gets the players playing to there full ability we will do well. Last season like many before we can never seem to finish off lower in the table teams but can beat the top 4 consistancy next season is needed if we want to finish in the top 4!
5 stars

I agree with most of what you have said, but i think Suarez will play on the left to cut in and Ramirez (if signed on the right) with Rodgers looking to ad another cm to play alongside Gerrard and rotate the attacking role.

Ali

We didnt dominate throughout the season, we had a few games were did, but couldn't score.

We got passed off the field at home most weeks by the likes of Norwich and Wigan

Passed off the field in most home games... you are joking, other team were more clincal - it's something this team have to address.

Here are some stats for you on those games you picked...
---
LIVERPOOL 1 v WIGAN 2

Possession %
LFC 56.9%
Wigan 43.1%

Total Shots
LFC 19
Wigan 5

On target
LFC 8 (1 of which we scored!)
Wigan 2 (both of which they scored!)

---

LIVERPOOL 1 v 1 NORWICH

Possession %
LFC 55.4%
Wigan 44.6%

Total Shots
LFC 29
Wigan 12

On target
LFC 9
Norwich 7

Now, Liverpool dominated those games you quoted... now go and listen to BR on talksport the other day. He talked about how Liverpool and Kenny were unlucky and reasons why...

Mate a trip to spec savers is needed

I am a season ticket holder and hope we play the same way at home next season, but take our chances next time around.

To the kid who said we didn't dominate. You are wrong, we played teams off the park in nearly every game, Kenny didn't pay enough attention to the smaller team which is a vital mistake as 3 points is the same reward for every game, not just against the big teams.

I agree with what you say 5 stars, I think with Ramirez and Suarez we have two player who can unlock the opposition, I'd love Jovetic to complete the trio and then we will walk through most teams. BR will do it right in the training and match preperation department, complancency should never become an issue again. I am excited for this season, regardless of who we sign and I'll say this to anyone reading, being pestimistic will get you nowhere, we are LFC and despite not winning the league in so long we still are a global team feared across Europe. When the top two teams have players that still hold memories at Anfield as the best of their footballing career, we know we are doing something right. Remember Istanbul, we are at half time now.

Who wrote we got passed of the field most weeks by norwich and wigan what a load of dung

I daily see player linked with LFC but one player the club needs the most is hazardous Clint Dempsey(my tot though)
his work rate is awsome, finishing is sound, passes 80% acurate. If rogders wanna succeed in the short term, he should go or him cos he is a good AMF,CF,WF

Dempsey would be a good squad player but it depends how much Fulham want to make signing him worth it.

Pablo Betancourt has confirmed two offers of around £16 million for Ramirez, coming from England and Germany. Presumably Liverpool and Wolfsburg. Great news!

Ever heard of a little club called Manchester city, we LFC have as yet, to place a formal bid, Truth may hurt, but non the less, its the truth......

R4L

R4L, the club reveals no information. I doubt you can confirm whether or not a bid has been made from us.

The offer from England has come from Spurs as they bought sigurdsson to replace Van der Vaart.

Afternoon (ED's) It's been a long time since I've posted,
but still tune in regularly. I do enjoy this site and appreciate everyone is entitled to their opinion on matters related to L.F.C. However it's becoming boring regarding the BR appointment and transfer situation.
The negativity towards BR and the lack of transfer activity is ridiculous. it makes you wonder if some posters want BR to fail. He must be given respect and time.
Brendan Rogers spoke on L.F.C. TV yesterday or the day before, remarking on how friendly and welcoming people have been towards him since he arrived and spoke highly about the City and it's people. He spoke about the passion and loyalty shown by Liverpool fans. At that point, I felt a little embarrassed when I thought about so many of the hypercritical, disrespectful posters on this site who claim to be true Liverpool F.C. supporters. Who gripe about anything and bad mouth everyone.
I don't believe these people are true Reds, they are glory hunters, who want the club to spend vast sums of money every transfer window on so called marquee signings and want appoint the flavour of the month manager. Who's just won a premier league title somewhere. It's not Dreamland, It's Liverpool Football Club. A club with a great history and tradition. A club
Who has been held in high regard for it's integrity and values. The fans are acclaimed for their passion and knowledge of the game.
IS that how you see us (EDS) when reading the posts?
We have not been very successful in recent years, it's true. But we are not in a dangerous financial position as were recently and that we should be very grateful for. We may have been in administration and
in the s**t.

Regarding transfers: We have till 31/08/2112 to bring in players, So there is time to be successful in this window. The club must get it right this time. The Fenway Group will not pay over the odds any more and they are rightly taking a more cautious approach this time around. The players must have quality and importantly want to join us for the right reason.
what's the point in signing a high profile player for mega bucks, who would leave the club at the first opportunity to satisfy his pocket and big ego.
There is no guarantee of us being successful in the transfer market but there is time, though time is not the main issue when dealing in the transfer window.
I believe we will get it right this season and I think BR will be a big success. Lets support our great club and that includes the owners and Manager.

on al lighter note. my predictions for the season 2112-2113 are as follows:
1) Stevie Gerrard will retire from international football.

2) Jamie Carragher will hang up his boots

3) Liverpool F.C. will begin work on a new stadium.

4) Stirling and Susso will set he Premier league alight.

Chelsea will win the premier league. Man City will be runners up, Man Utd will finish 3rd, Liverpool will finish 4th.

Liverpool F.C. will win at least one cup.

Alex Ferguson will announce his retirement.

Cheer up Reds this season will be the start of a new and brighter era for our great club.

Red Robin.
PS ....Thanks EDs for your hard work

Just shows the state of english football if Gerrard is still playing in the 2112-2113 season lol at least i wont be hear to see it :)

If Gerrard retires from International Football in 2112-2113 season that will make him 132 really don't think he will be playing until then.

I can see that red robin ,that you havent posted here for awhile. by the long post u just done lol and welcome back.

Gezza1982

1 thru 4 will not happen

There's nothing worse than fans banging on about transfers apart from fans banging on about fans banging on about transfers.

God so its going to take 100 years to get a new stadium. Think gerrard will rap in before 2112-2113 myself but you never know

Good post, I don't think glory hunters is the right term for some of these fickle fans. They want big names to brag about to their friends in the play ground, what these children are yet to realise is Liverpool take players and make them household names, not the other way around. BR will do his best, and deserves our backing right to the hilt, just as Kenny, Hodgeson and Rafa were.

Maybe the post is from 2112-2113 wouldn't that be creepy

Ok it was a typo you know what he's talking about. Some funny comments though. But the people he's on about seem to be taking it personally.

If the Andy Caroll AC Milan rumours have any truth I hope we tell them where to go after the way they had our pants down with the Aqua man saga!

To right we shouldnt deal with them cheap skates again after that

If Andy Carroll is not going to fit into BR's plans we should do to AC milan what they did to us.If Silvio wants him so much he will have to pay top money just like we did.

06 Jul 2012 14:43:07
BR will not make any signings until he has assessed all the players. He will then look at who he feels is not unto the game and then look at bringing in players. This is from a close friend of mine who has links within the club. He also wants to involve some of the senior players (carragher & gerrard) in looking at transfers.

Ed I know Managers have to take note of Leaders at a Club.But I.Y.O will Rodgers be his own man with the established at our club,or be maybe overly affected by their views? I think he seems own man and he's been impressive so far.But he wasnt a Manager at Chelsea,and this is huge step up from Swansea {Ed002's Note - I really don't understand the question. He is the manager and has terms of reference for his job.}

If anything, his experiences will help rid us of our old habbits. He will have the team working their b****cks off and this will help bring our team back to Earth and dominate everyone (Not just the top 8).

06 Jul 2012 14:28:46
When are we likely to have saurez back in the squad, if hes away with the uruguay olympic squad now. he could potentially still be there until the 11th of august just 7 days short of the start of the season, we he be given a couple of weeks off or straight back to it, no doubt hes going to be completely bolloxed and its also gonna have a big effect on BR's preparations, its not like our opening games are not going to be hard enough as it is.

I've seen the Walcott rumours, anyone with me and hoping there BS... I look at him and think if he's a pro i could be... He has pace and that's it... no control, no shooting technique, no crossing ability. Just what Andy needs another winger who is useless

G BOX

Id welcome him myself. Not because he is the best in the world but IMHO one thing we don't have down the flanks is real pace and consequently our counter attack has never been as good as some of the other teams in the premiership

gareth

Walcott does have some ability and if he signed he'd get my support. Of course the effort he will have to put in bring him up to scratch will be massive but if BR feels that is what we need we should trust his judgement.

why all the hate 4 spearing he better than ppl think

Well he does I better job than I could do lol!

Agree but people only remember that important mistake he made as it is still fresh in their memory.Having said that I must admit I think he falls a bit short of the required standard.
CR

He is not Liverpool standard. Would be a decent lower table PL player or maybe championship.

I think we should rather give Coady a chance than spearing. He is better built and much better suited for the CDM role.
I think spearing has had his opportunity and its time to move him on. People might claim we only remeber his mistake in the FA cup final and against ManU but that was the opportunity to stand up and be counted but he rather was a let down.

Lots of shots screwed wide and some on target but with less power than a sparrows fart but ye hes not what we need coming from the bench we need immediate impact from the bench

He turns slower than the Oasis of the seas, mate. He's not good enough and at 23 never will be.He's no better than Guthrie and no where near the player that Danny Murphy was.Let's forget the fact that he wants to succeed at the club and he has heart and desire. He's not good enough.

So that does make him liverpool standard then, make your mind up mate!!!

Spearing, for all the effort he puts in, isn't good enough. I'd like to see him move soon and establish himself at a lower team. He still could have a decent career, just not at Liverpool.

Joe Anderson says theres progress over LFC Stadia issue, but the most important thing is the residents well being. And thats true, but is he also thinking of the extra money for pubs, takeaways, taxi companies around Anfield. All going to improve life of locals.Sure more staff be needed at LFC,stewards etc.More business hotels, restaurants in town.More flights J.Lennon airport. He is correct in what he says, but is his thinking bit small time and insular also?

Flights are going to drop coming into Liverpool airport from this winter.
Both Ryanair and Easyjet are losing planes and as a result more routes.
Just so you know.
Joe Anderson has no power at all when it comes to the airport and flights into it etc.
The only time football has had any impact at all at the airport is istanbul and Athens.
Expanding anfield will have very little effect on flight schedules.

Stevie's had one long term injury, doesn't mean that he is always injured!

Chaki

I would have loved to see Clarence Seedorf come in and perform the Gary Mac role. He's been there and done it all! A proven winner who's experience could have proved invaluable. However, he's gone to Brazil and I can't recall many other players of his ilk available.

I have to say that Spurs look like they are signing quality players at the moment if the sign Vertonghen. I've watched him a couple of times and he looks very good at bringing the ball out from the back - a little like Agger (although not quite as good imo).

Although there is plenty of time left, I do hope BR has some deals to come and I'm sure he has. The top 4 are certainly wasting no time in signing good players.

I was thinking in relation to the Gylfi deal that didn't come off for us, are we paying too little on players wages? I understand we need to be a self sufficient club, but to get players to join a club that finished 8th in the league, do we not need to pay a little extra in order to "persuade" players to join us as opposed to others?

I'm not saying we do, just asking the question.

Ash

Yes Ash agree, seem to have gone from one extreme-paying over top-to other

I'm pretty sure that for the figures quoted, it was purely Rodgers who made the decision not to sign Sigurdsson - and he wouldn't have been appointed, or even accepted the job if he thought the board wouldn't back him in the transfer market.

John B

Moan when we overpay, moan when we refuse to pay too much.

Jatt YNWA

BR knew he had accepted 30k per week to play for Swans, so wasnt prepared to pay more just because Spurs were involved.

Fair play to BR. He obviously knew the players worth as a 'squad player' and thought the transfer fee was worth it for a 'squad player'. He didnt consider him to be star-man material so wouldnt give him the associated wages.

Will prove to be a great decision, provided he can attract a better star-man number 10!

Well said Jatt!

It seems you can't have a adult debate Jatt. It's a real shame.

Ash

I think if a first team player was being looked at, then we may negotiate a little more, but Sigurdsson wouldn't of walked straight in. Good decision by BR and it sends a message to agents saying we won't give into your demands.

Any chance/interest in N'Zonzi/M Olsson/ MG Pedersen?
LFCREDPANTS

I hope not.

Dear god i hope not

Is that you Steve keen?

Bigdan

I think N'Zonzi could come in and do a job for us, providing us with good back up to Lucas.

Nzonzi is diabolical, might as well sign Kevin Davies and Paul Scharner while we're at it....

Within next 48hrs.... I've been reading the same line for days already, people please stop posting bull... 48+48+48...how many players we signed so far?

06 Jul 2012 12:44:48
Brendan on Sigg

"I knew what the market was and I wasn't prepared to pay anything over what I had known was agreed before" - Rodgers. That is why Liverpool didn't sign Sigurdsson, the man who knows him better didn't think he was worth it.

yoyoman

Yeah yeah we know, forget it now please and move on.

Thats the same thing look most pool fans do tend to check the liverpool site to but thanks

I really doubt Adam will be sold. He looked like he was getting fitter last season until his injury, and was excellent when Lucas was next to him. Why Kenny played Adam defensively is beyond me. He was dissapointing from set pieces, but the ability he had at Blackpool hasn't just disappeared!
Speaking of his time at Blackpool, they played fast paced pass and move football and Adam was the instigater of the attacks. Just like Xavi is for Barcelona. All Adam needs to work on is his tendancy to try the long ball too often, but next year I strongly believe he will start or at least be a regular squad member. The fact is, we'll be competing in 4 competitions next year, so why would we sell a good squad player?

YNWA! (Adam)

Charlie is that you?

Is that you posting Charlie?

No its not me at all

Some of the reasons FSG chose Rodgers were: He agreed not to demand a large budget and that he could be successful with the players already at Liverpool. Or less if big money came for the top players.
Quite a gamble.

That sir is an assumption.

I prefer to assume the hired Brendan Rodgers becuase he is young, is incredible with the media, has an excellent record for buying value for money and had swansea playing some of the most attractive football in the premier league last season.

And you have this information from ?? - let me guess, you are assuming that is the case, if that was the case I'm pretty sure we would still be looking for a manager - in fact we would have probably had to resort to a manager not capable of getting a job - Benitez perhaps.

John B

We got BR because he's a fantastic manager and will be here a long time. Our whiskey nose??

06 Jul 2012 12:39:55
I think that if Walcott does become available, Rodgers will become very interested! I think this because look what he had a Swansea. He plays Tiki Taka football but with two quick wingers and I think he will try to do that with us. What do you guys think?!:)

RedSpud

Yeah but with Jose Maria Callejon down the right, not Walcott.

06 Jul 2012 12:32:07
Heard that Adam is part of BR's plans and can't wait to coach and develop his skills. BR has Barca coaching mentality ,range of pass and ability comes 1st, athletic ability comes second. So get behind him and stop griefing the man will be a superstar. NOW FINISH THE SILLY ADAM rumours.

Hooray :-D no more players like Kuyyt then and more players like Molby!

MUSHROOM

I think the comments about Adam have been fair and he must be aware of them. Hopefully this is a wakeup call and he can start to justify his transfer fee from Blackpool. If BR wants him to stay as has been reported he must see something that we LFC fans have been missing. Don't forget most of the Swansea team were not high profile players but brought together, given a role to play and carried it out to great effect.

Hi Edds!
Should we all be getting excited about G.Ramierz? He isn't gunna ditch us last minute for a lesser team with no soul is he?

Hi Eds and all,
I'm just wondering what people think of the idea of Suarez as a winger?
He has speed, immense skill (specialising in "MEGS") and can use both feet. he loves running at people and i think he's got a half decent cross.
Although he is good at finishing, he is far from the best i've seen. I just think if we could have Suarez as an attacking winger, and one or two natural goal scorers in the middle, that we could really do some damage.
I think he is imilar to Ronaldo (but in a good way)
Some thoughts would be great
Dave H

That's where he started his career and he sometimes plays there for Uruguay.

Too me il'd agree hes not a great finisher but creates loads.A Winger or in Modric-esque postion said for ages. Then real out and out finisher to play off Caroll

I think he's a fantastic player and work hard. Very similar to Tevez but maybe a little slower but able to challenge for the ball in the air. I'd like to see him just behind Andy because I feel he can either side of him and open spaces in the defence.

06 Jul 2012 12:19:28
BR decided we can do without sigurdsson in the end and decided not to bid.

Good enough for me...

MIKEY

Agreed Mikey. He's showing his metal..

Alfie

He knew what he was worth - end of.

But is it good enough for LFC?

BR wanted Sig, but not at the wages he wanted.

Ash

Who needs him when you got Ramirez, Callejon and Jovetic on their way!

Let us not forget were talking about a former reading player that couldnt get in the team at hoffheilm, hes hardly iniesta and i have no doubt would of only been a squad player, see how many games he gets with spurs now that modric is staying

06 Jul 2012 12:11:57
I am pretty confident that were going to bring in some much needed quality to the team over the current transfer window, i can also understand the need to not panic, form and injuries aside we've got a very strong squad of players, Rodgers needs time to asses the assets at his disposal but we only need 3-4 very good signings in the right positions and were right back up there if BR can get the players we already have firing again and playing the right way.

GK, reina, Doni,gulacsi
LB, Johnson,Kelly
CB Skyrtle,agger,carragher,coates and wilson
RB, Enrique, cover for this position is definitely needed
LW, Downing, cover again is needed
CM, lucas,gerrard,aquaillani,cole,henderson,adam,shelvey,spearing.
RM, 2 new players for this position needed.
AT, Saurez, carrol, bellemy, another top quality player for this position

Gaston ramirez and adam johnson would be great signings and would come relatively cheap, considering there age, both young and potentially world class, can play on both wings and both score plenty of goals something we have been desperately lacking.
the signing of a young potentially world class proven goal scorer is also essential
FSG need to be dishing out about 55 million on these three players before player sales, not a massive amount for a team that has top 4 ambitions, obviously some moneys will be recouped through player sales as well.

Enrique plays as left back no?

I would live Ramirez and Munian and that would do.

Johnson will never be world class. He plays for himself, Not the team. You need someone with Ronaldo's ability to have that kinda attitude and be world class. And johnson is nowhere near that in terms of ability. I agree with poster above although would be shocked if it happened. Ramirez and Munian for me.

Robinson?you forgot him as cover for enrique

Yes got the LB's and RB's wrong way round, didnt put robinson down because he didnt get used last year cant see him being used this year

Im an evertonian (dont all get on my back) but was just looking through all the different rumour sites, so funny to see what different people say about there clubs. But we seriously need to stick together i think before the London clubs try to take over ( i cant stand the arrogance of the london clubs, trust me i live down south and its a nightmare dealing with them). I just wanted to make a few points, im flabergasted that sigurdson (sorry for spelling) choose the spuds over you. It really annoyed me even as an evertonian as i think he would of been a great signing for you and would of learned loads off gerrard. Just cant believe you didnt go and offer him big money. My next point is, if you look at the league table (and please let me have my moment here, cant belive we finished above you lot, doesnt happen very often so let me have that one) last season it looked like a terrible season for liverpool, yet the weird thing was in the games that i saw, liverpool had played some of the best football i have seen in a few years, the completly dominated games without the ability to find the back of the net. For that reason if i was BR i would be thinking about signing Jermaine Defoe, one of the most under rated strikers in the league i think. Spurs have ruined him the last couple years, there is no doubt that if he had been playing regular football he would have been starting for england at the euros. The boy just knows how to find the back of the net and wouldnt cost and arm and a leg. Anyway it was just a thought. RobbyMac

Good lad and i'm with you man we should stick together. I love the way we are the only derby where we sit or used to stand together. Proud of that and I still look out for Evertons result next.

You're right we did play well last season as did Everton. You got a good set up there. Very consistent.

Alfie

Moment granted mate, but savour it!

Rodgers knew Sigurdsson, knew what he was worth, and decided we didn't need him - why would an Evertonian want us to sign him, maybe because he is only a good player, and not a great player and that he wouldn't improve us.

Alfie, shame those days are gone

There not gone in my world my friend. We are 2 great clubs in the best footballing city. Keep spreading the love.

Alfie

Nice to hear from a friendly blue nose, some of the ones i know are very detrimental to the reds. Some would yould believe it call us the red sh***
Good luck for the new season Toffees

Not a rumour but here is what John Barnes had to say recently:

" If he [Rodgers] signs a player we have not heard of that he knows can fit into his philosophy and pattern, then we should support that, rather than saying 'unless we get big-name signings, we are not going to be optimistic'."

... Perhaps some fans should adopt this mindset rather than expecting cavani et al!

KingHeskey

True if hes quality band can fit in

Everton do it all the time im a pool fan but everton are my second team just since moyes jumped on board hes a great manager he brings in players on the cheap because there not well known and my god they play well like lets face it if it wasnt for everton utd would have won the league again.. 4 all.remember WHAT HEART point being rodgers can be as affective forget big names you have to pay big money for there goals

Hey guys just dropping in to say i'm glad all the in fighting has seemed to have stopped between us Liverpool fans. We need to show this unity all the time.

As for the clubs progress this summer. I was gutted Kenny left, I love the man and he has certainly steadied the ship and much more. What he achieved last season no other manager could have come close. It also gave the younger fans a chance to really dip into our history. Winning a trophy and experiencing losing a final can only inspire the players to achieve much more. The losing process is a part of becoming a winner. As a new squad they have to experience that and grow. He'll be missed.

Behind the scenes we have brought in some exciting new board members who can help the club grow.

The new manager and his style of play excite me too. This is not an overhaul simply a continuation of what Kenny built last season. Talk of Downing, Adam and Hendo being sold is simply not an option. We have to add to this squad. It is a very strong squad. Bringing any of these players from the bench is a must. A striker and a couple of wingers will add to the competition for places. The younger players will also play a part but doing it right.

It is unfair the pressure put on Lucas a few years ago and Hendo today. They need to be played from the bench and in the lesser games to gain that experience not be thrown into the fire so to speak. This will speed up their progress and our youth/reserve team is full of talent so lets support them. Strength of squad is essential. Thankfully Lucas has proved his worth on and off the pitch. He loves our club after all that he went through. Be great to see him back.

So all in all it's not that bad yeah, we all can't wait for the first signing but lets get some real quality. 2 or 3 quality players are all we need. No names from me just stating how things are.

Alfie

Good post. agree with what you say and think Henderson will become a great player for the future once the transfer fee fades and he'll have less pressure on him to justify it. Having Lucas back will be like a new signing. B

06 Jul 2012 11:43:54
Out of some of the players we've been linked with could you clear up what the likelihood of us signing linked players, 1-10 or likely, unlikely, possible, no etc however best for you. Jovetic, Callejon, Ramirez, Walcott, Kalou and Mark Davies. Cheers if any Eds do this thankyou {Ed002's Note - Try searching on the Transfer Summary. Others just read the posts and answers that have been given.}

Hi Eds
Love the sight. Worryingly addictive. Hope this gets put up. Wondering if other than waiting for the squad to return (so as to assess), whether we are waiting for more people to be brought in behind the scenes (in new managerial structure) before we buy anyone? Is there any word on this that your aware of? Hope for a reply.
Cheers {Ed002's Note - A number of staff have already arrived.}

I have to say, after watching the Brendan Rodgers Exclusive on LFCtv, I can't help but be drawn to the guy. The way he speaks and even moves is like a modern day Shanks.

Let's only hope he can recreate history!

Oh, and I've been hearing a lot about Gaston Ramirez; the lad's a class act. Great eye for a pass, quick on his feet, very 'Suarez-esque': Exactly what Brendan should be looking for! I'd love to see him wearing the number 10 next year. Come on Luis & Seba, have some words!

But thats joe coles number hehe

Hi Ed, can you share any light on a naming rights partner for the clubs new stadium or are they redeveloping anfield. Can fans expect any news soon {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new.}

06 Jul 2012 11:24:12
I can't ever remember a time when the glass was as half full, or as half empty as it is now. Depending on your view poin, things can be looking great with loads of promise and potential, or they could also be looking quite desperate. That's why there are so many 'doom and gloomers' about.

Recent examples : Didn't sign GS. Can be seen as a view of strength that we won't be taken for mugs. BR new his value, and wasn't going to pay more. Or, we were to slow, too poor to afford the fee or wages.

The owners : they are running the club to a good business model, they will nature we will compete on a solid financial foundation, ensuring years of success. Or, they are too poor to build a stadium, and too poor to pay top players wages.

The manager : Young, determined and astute. Knows his own mind, knows hat the club and the fans expect. Wants to play the game the way the fans want it to be played - expansive attacking football. Won't be taken for a mug, and has the b*lls to stand up to anyone including the owners. Or, is he too young and inexperienced, can't pull the big names, and in over his head.

I could go on, but you get the drift. The simple fact is that there is alot of stuff that we simply don't know, and we won't know for sure how things will turn out. But, given the choice between whinging or supporting, I choose to support!

Some might say stupid, blind loyalty. I don't care, mainly because it makes me feel better!! I am proud to support LFC, because we are the best. I am 100% behind BR, and whoever he brings in. It makes me feel good. I don't want to feel depressed all day, walk around with my head down all gloomy.

I am looking forward to next season like a 10 year old kid. Sod RedTurk and all the other depressive so called supporters. I am happy when I am supporting my team, so I'm going to support them to make me happy. Call me a happy idiot, but I think we are going to do OK with BR. He has do e nothing other than impress me.

My 2 pennies worth.

Nick

Looks like some fake fans like to disagree and well said bud roll on the new season !

I wish more fans took as balanced a view as yourself, Nick.

Fair play lad.

Gaston Ramirez
Jose Callejon
Steven Jovetic
Juan M Vargas or Aly Cissokho

And we'd be sorted!

2 of first 3 would be incredible and that would do.

He's a very large lad!

Yeah that's him, think he's wearing number 55. Absolute beast of a lad.

Does he have 666 somewhere on his body?

Just to say Aqualani wasnt at pre season training because it was his wedding day! I hope he stays coz him stevie and lucus is a quality midfield 3

Thats fine if you want players in the team who dont even want to be there.

He changed his mind fairly abruptly towards leaving, who's to say he won't have a change of heart towards staying?

If he gives it his all, puts in good performances and generally does well for the team, does it really matter?

I remember aqua when he was a young player,he was italy number 1 talent.injuries have had a effect on him,the english game is not only fast but also fysical.remember lucas intervieuw on lfc tv.his problem in the beginning was the high tempo that he wasnt used too.he was young and learned and before his injury the best holding midfielder in the country.aqua will have a good game here and there but rather get a new player too move forward

The best holding midfilder playing today is scholes

Really lucas does not even make it into the top 10

Alonso! And he knows how to tackle, unlike the ginger prince. Although are either holding midfielders? More like deep lying play makers.

Seriously, if Scholes could tackle, he'd still be in Pirlos shadow, and good thing too, the little guy'd burn to a crisp should he not be in somebody elses shadow.

I am beginning to get more optimistic about this window as we are starting to be linked with better players like Ramirez callejon and jovetic. Any of these players would be fantastic additions and could really make a difference.

Those 3 would be amazing!! And maybe a left back and we'd be sorted!

Soldado jovetic and rameriz and I think that would be a brilliant summer for liverpool.MATTYLFC

Hey Ed's , is there a chance just an chance that we could sign walcott ? he is the type of player we have been missing for the last 20 years , we never got an replacement when john barnes left in our team that's why we haven't achieved the english title in the last 20 years and to be honest i see walcott an perfect player to fill in at liverpool plus isn't he a liverpool fan anyway ? what's liverpool waiting for. {Ed002's Note - Is he available? What would he cost? Who else is interested? Does he want to move to Liverpool?}

Do we want him? Probably not.

'Walcott is entering the final year of his contract and has apparently been offered a new deal (by arsenal) which ups his wages from £55,000-a-week to around £80,000' - football365
With Rodgers' stand on over-the-top wages, don't expect him to go for Theo. Singred

Wash your mouth out! Walcott wouldnt lace John Barnes boots. Closer to Ryan Babel if im honest.

The Irish Rover

Jose Callejon would be a better addition.

I'd have Walcott, he is way better than what we have.

Walcot had the chance to join before he went to arsenal so did chamberlin , do we want players like this or should we treat them the way we treated the spurs bound icelandic person.

Walcott is still only 23 and he is just inconsistent...had very productive cameos for England during the euros

Hi eds, just a question for you on BRs tactics.Do you think that with the style or model of football he says he wants to implement at the club that wide players as in out and out wingers eg. Downing, Sterling etc and supposed linked players like A Johnston would not fit in his plans? If he introduces a style similar to that of Barca or Spain then I'm thinking our width will come mostly from our full backs making the need for wingers redundant.Would like to hear your views on that, thanks.
Great site by the way
Kopman {Ed002's Note - I am sure others will have a better opinion on tactics than me.}

Width will come from anyone on that side of the pitch, there's no real emphasis on positional play so to speak.
The best way to picture it is just to imagine a series of rotating triangles. I know Barca and Spain are the base model, but watch a bit of Real Madrid in their build up play too, just notice how... for arguments sake, the right winger drops in to receive the ball, this can often see the CF dart wide while the right sided CM can dash forwards. But the true width, yes, that will come from the fullbacks, they'll generally give a bail-out option to the wingers who will drift in.

But as i said, wherever one player moves into a certain area, expect that triangle to rotate. Benzema, Ozil and Ronaldo play a beautiful variation on this, with backup from Marcelo.
As for Barca, they're just freaks of players. But another good team to watch is A. Bilbao, their rotation is genius and it's a big part of Bielsa's style of play, we also saw it when he was in charge or the Chilean nation team.

So really, we will play with wingers, but the real advantage for BR is that he can now afford wide players with a good passing game too, Sinclair and Dyer are good attacking players, but the build up generally stopped with those two, luckily they could finish. But now, with the likes of Downing and Suarez we have players who will fill the wider roles, but will contribute in build up play aswell, giving a lot more time and space to Johnno and Enrique.
With Barca, their fullbacks have a lot of freedom because Busquets usually drops in as a slightly more advanced centre back when they're in possession, giving the likes of Alves, and next season, Alba the license to roam and with no wide midfielders to speak of, they have all the room they could want. So maybe we'll adopt this kind of move aswell.

I was kind of all over the place there, It's a simple system in theory, but i'm struggling to explain it at the moment, hopefully it made a little sense

Red7.

Kopman.
I would say its difficult to judge, refering to BR statements and who he already has in the squad.
Downing IMO is an out and out wideman, but is good with the ball and works hard. Final decision making is his only downfall. AJ does have a little more to him for taking on players and chipping in with goals, but lacks tracking back.

We may well see a whole different approach, like inside wingers doing channels alongside the AM, with fullbacks overlapping.
I wouldnt say wingers are redundant in Barca style of play, just more effective and direct, and go out to wings when the play forces them to, or to drag players away from centre.
Piddy.

Eds,
Love this site. Just want to share quick info to all.

1)Only one of Joe Cole or Aquilani will be staying at club as backup for Attacking mid. Rodgers is looking to buy Attacking Mid and Joe Cole/Aquilani can be a good backup for new player.

2)Eds, need to confirm this with you. My source said Gaston Ramirez wants to come to Anfield. Talks between 2 parties will begin shortly and Bologna will only let Ramirez go for bid 17M or more. Is it true?

3)Spearing will go on season long loan with option to buy him.

4)Joe Allen & Scott Sinclair under consideration. But there are other players based on scout reports that we are interested to sign. Its up to Rodgers to choose which one we need to persue.

Thanks.

i believe rodgers could do a great job given time.
the way he wants to play will take time and some new players.
johnson
skrtl
agger
enrique could play possesion football from the back although enrique walk to much with the ball.
carra cannot play in rodgers game.
adam spearing cannot eather.
henderson i am not sure abt.
gerrard suarez will have no problem for carroll it will be harder he will have to be a striker that can hold the ball and score goals.
i think rodgers will try to get a right winger 2 midfielders and a striker.
rodgers said he was looking at the squad and i think he is looking at the youth players to make sure he wont buy a player and stop a youngster getting in.
thats why i think he will play with downing knowing that sterling is there for the future.
spearing and adam are just not good enough.
we had bad luck last season with 3 quality signings we will be stronger than we all think.
ed?

If we get jovetic, ramirez and strootman we would be challenging for top 3 this season..

Are u serious Carroll will have to hold the ball?!?!? Does he not do that already?

No does not hold the ball how rodgers would like it.carroll is coming towards the ball.the way rodgers wants to play is dominate the midfield and have carroll very deep.carroll will be able to do that.once carroll gets the ball wingers come into play and beiing deep he will be close to the goal.the role carroll needs to play in rodgers system is a important position

Seriously mate, how in the world would you know that the likes of Adam, Henderson and co. Cannot play the system.

I've had to say this so many times it's not funny.
Footballers are not robots, and as such, are not looked at by managers who say "well this is no good, this one's been programmed wrong".
They don't come in a box labelled "Tika-Taka" or "Hoofball".
All players have different skills, but all in all they're professional athletes, and it will really surprise you what more these guys can learn with proper guidance and how well they will adapt. So whether you choose to believe it or not, these guys are damn good footballers, as is every professional player WORLDWIDE!

Red7.

Henderson might be able to play like rodgers wants, but adam will never be able to play the tika take football.adam is a good player but not for the kind of game rodgers wants to play.lucas and gerrard the only midfielders we have with a quick brain and feet.

Hi Eds

At least we finally have a manager that's stand up against the player power. I think that Clubs should have a salary cap and rather invest in the players insurance and policies when they retire, would that work Eds. Money players are demanding is ruining the beautiful game.

Thanks

Yip!. BR has impressed me, he is well grounded and realistic and will not be manipulated.
Good for you Brendan.

I have to say this site is a fantastic read and really good to see everyone trying to guess what is going to happen. I think the Eds will agree it is now extremely hard to get any information out of Liverpool FC as FSG are conducting themselves in the correct manner. we now have owners who deal as a business and keep their cards very close to their chest.

I have no idea who is likely to arrive but have a feeling we will be pleasantly surprised by what might happen and this does not mean I am now believing we will sign the likes of iniesta, benzema, higuian and many other stars.

I do however believe that we will sign players who are young, talented and actually want to play for Liverpool, not only adding a passion back into the team but also more creativity. I look at some of the games from last year and it was only the finishing that let us down and as BR says he has areas he needs to work on and I have no doubt he will rectify the issues and we will have a better season.

I would like to see Ramirez and Johnson arrive and anything else on top would be a bonus. Eds great work on answering so many questions on the possible transfers and lets hope for a much improved season under FSG and BR

Not Johnson as his wages and price would be ridiculous as he is English. I think we should look to Ramirez and perhaps Munian, callejon, pedro and if all fail affellay or susaeta would be fantastic additions.

Munian i doubt would come to us in all honesty and mention of Higuian...no chance

gareth

There is not mention of higuain in my post it is just stating that that calibre of player is not what we will be getting

Winger; Ramirez £16.5m
AM; Oscar £13m

Would be unbelieveably delighted.

06 Jul 2012 03:03:13
I think Brendans big 3 could be Ramirez, Callejon and Jovetic!

2 of those would be more realistic.

06 Jul 2012 02:53:27
Why is everyone suggesting foreign players no disrespect but Rodgers is new and these top foreign players won't take a risk because were not gonna offer stupid wages(just look at sig)lets be real.

So paying ridiculous intial fees for cr*p homegrown players is a better idea? Look how that turned out last year.

It dont matter how new rodgers is im sure they could find out wat hes all about

Whats everyone's guessing for top 4 next season? I'd say man c man u Chelsea Liverpool I think to many big egos in Chelsea squad for them to gel

I think we will come 5th or 6th but that depends on signings like if we got Ramirez and Munian we would definately have a shout plus if last years signings start to produce you never know where we could end up.

To be fair, City do surprisingly well on that front, they have Hart, Kompany, Richards, Barry, the Toures and Silva. They more than keep the squad together, it's just a few clowns that disrupt the group.
Chelsea on the other hand... Wow, that place is going to ERUPT about 2 month in to the season with some of the "personalities" they have on their books... christ almighty!... and they really think Di Matteo will be able to handle it? no no no no no...
As for ManU, they'll just be ManU as usual, there are some massive egos, but none more dominant and overbearing than the one and only, Sir Johnnie Walker himself!

So with rumours of bids for Ramirez jovetic and callejon (apparently) we are unlikely to get all 3. We are more likely to get 2 but which 2 would you prefer

I would go for Ramirez and Jovetic, both young and a touch of class about the pair. I am not saying that Callejon isn't but just feel the first 2 are more achievable targets.

Ramirez jovetic and Ramirez

Dragon3383

Why not all 3? I say go for it. All 3 of them and we'd be boss!!

hi guys, i keep reading that theres mixed feelings in regards to the 3rd kit. i actually think its better than the black 1! all 3 kits do have a warrior type edge to them and with a new style of play 4 next season. premiership beware, the boys are back in town!

06 Jul 2012 08:00:57
Is it just me that thinks the new 3rd kit is great? Really like the sleeves and the tribal design - definitely stands out from the crowds and should be a decent seller. Well done FSG and Warrior for having the balls to do something different.

I think it looks cheap to be honest, but have to say i'm not worried about the kit too much

looking at euro 2012 performances of players two midfield players stood out to me moutinho of portugal was outstanding in terms of ball retention very barcelonerish in how he played would clearly suit what we think brendan will try to do and rasmus elm of sweden had an unserstated tournament as did his country however you could see he was a good player who retained the ball reminded me of a younger schweinsteger both wold be excellent buys

Man Utd have bid £20m for Moutinho according to Rory Smith. I doubt we will bid for him, but he is a fantastic player. I can see him pitching up at Tottenham with AVB or at Real Madrid with the rest of his Portuguese team mates.

It's difficult to tell with Elm, Sweden were average and he didn't look to special to me. Personally I would rather we allowed Shelvey and Henderson to develop rather than add another body unless we were to bring in someone of the quality of a Moutinho.

RedSG

I have said it a million times that Rasmus elm is not good enough to play for Liverpool football club.

I'm not trying to stir the pot or anything, but everyone calling Gylfi a money grabber and all that, do you KNOW what wages he'll be on at Spurs over what he would've been on here? We're looking to lower our wage bill and they're already on a very fixed one I believe...

I'm just spitballing here but perhaps the wages weren't the issue and in fact would've been nearly identical at either club.. Not agreeing a fee usually tends to scupper any negotiations, does it not?

Besides, we have class in Shelvey and Hendo already at the club, why spend more to fill a position we have covered for the next ten years far more than adequately?

I personally feel like Spurs told him either VDV or Modric was moving and he'd be slotting into the team.

McSnuggles

Rodgers knew the amounts GS had agreed with Swansea to move to them.

Rodgers and LFC were not prepared to offer much more than what he had already accepted to move to Swansea

Tom Werner has said previously we're looking to increase our wage spend, as long as the quality of the squad reflects the expense. Currently we have a Champions League wage bill with a Europa League quality squad, the balance needs to be addressed.

The moving on of Kuyt is an example of this. Last season he was a squad player, and his £70-80k wages were not a effective use of LFC resources. Same applies with Aquilani, Cole, and Maxi who's wages do not reflect their status in the squad.

RedSG

Perhaps I should rephrase... I understand WHY we didn't buy him, but is he TRULY a moneygrabber? And if he would have wanted 70-80k regardless, good riddance. That's more than Luis!

PLEASE BUY HIM!! more than worth it!

Spend that on gaston Ramirez as the money we spend on him will double.

Van der Vaart is a poor version of Ozil. Rather spnd double the amount on Ramirez who will be as good as ozil in a couple of years.

With all this talk of Ramirez and the likes of Walcott and Johnson along with others supposedly being linked to the club, with a combined total between them of somewhere in the region of 30-40 million (this could be way off feel free to correct me), do you think Eds that we could afford such spending on a few players even if we did shift out the surplus players?
How much is in our transfer kitty in your opinions?
Great site by the way you deserve a huge amount of credit.

Eds, Rodgers has stated he is after 3-4 signings in the transfer market. He has also said he would like to emulate spains style of play, so if he builds a squad around a typical tiki taka style of play i.e 4-3-3 and you take into consideration pepe, back 4 (maybe without johnson but kelly could take that position) gerrard and suarez all starting, that would leave 3/4 places up for grabs and it just so happens sterling will probably start, we are after a winger, attacking midfielder and a striker? id also take maxi, lucas, aqua and cole over spearing, shelvey, hendo, adam and downing. no one knows but trying to think logically. whats your thoughts? thanks.

Thoughts - wow - get rid off Henderson, Shelvey, Adam and Downing - you have to be a on another planet, or a Manc.

Agreed mate how many other fans come on our page.. They still fear us. As for the Downing, Adam, Hendo hate mob. This is called depth of squad. Add to it and make them play for their position. Sorted.

Alfie

Sterling i dont think will be started.
He will move to 1st team for training, and be included in squads for experience first.

hi eds with people seeming to think henderson and carroll will be given this season prove themselves is this also your opinion? after all telling the players this could also have a negative effect on them and plus they are only young so should surely be given more time to prove their selves especially henderson who im sure will come into his own in the next 2-3 years if learning from stevie

Hi everyone, Ramirez is not a good enough player for us yet everyone is thinking he's the best thing since sliced bread he won't take us into Europe the club needs to stop signing people like Carroll and downing and bring in good quality cheaper players. Look at Hernandez at united 6 million had a bad year this year and still scored more than Carroll. Valencia probably set up more goals in a game this year than downing and Henderson combined. They cost 40 million combined he was something like 16 million. We need to stop dreaming about big names as we no longer have the pulling power!

Stan

Mate, with all respect have you seen Ramirez play throughout a season? There is a very good reason City, Inter and Juve were interested in him.

I bet your the kind of guy who calls for us to find quality continental players and then slates players like Ramirez who actually fits that description.

You have used the example of Valencia. I will say that if Liverpool had tried to sign Valencia at present, there would be a huge uproar that the club and manager does not have any kind of ambition, hence we are buying a player from Wigan ay a huge price.

Now, Man City have spent a lot of money. But two of their stalwarts in defence cost less than 7 mil - Hart and Kompany. Now, their combined value will be around 50 mil if not more.Similiarly if we have to get Ramirez in now, otherwise his value would simply skyrocket like Eriksen's did after his last season with Ajax.

So, do try to think before you post. Because you have contradicted yourselves in the post by saying Ramirez wont improve us and then urging us to go for south americans. I guess if we had signed Falcao before his 30 goal seasons, you have been the first to chant anti-FSG slogans from the rooftops.

Corvin

I know the weathers bad mate, but come on cheer up.. How can you even compare Ramirez to Downing?

Stan stop your little girl whining and go somewhere else. It it not all of liverpools fault but it kennys fault which hurts to say.

Massimo taibi, veron, djemba djemba, Anderson, kleberson, blanc, bebe, oberton and plenty of others and letting players like pique and Rossi leave for next to nothing, I don't see you mentioning any of the above but hey why would you in your eyes man united can do know wrong, you must be a worried manc coming on here slating Liverpool ps what did u win last season

just wondering where all these people posting on here are coming up with Ramirez 100% moving to Liverpool. I've seen nothing at all on him agreeing right away to the move. -mike

An Italian journo was answering questions on twitter he was asked various questions about Ramirez in the answers he said he's open to the move, that talks with bologna were happening in the next 48 hours and also that he didn't believe he was worth 20m euros.

With the whole Sig thing I'm with Brendan, he knew what was being offered at Swansea and that he accepted this. Just because you move to a bigger club does not mean you by right by get more money. There is no difference between Sig a Swansea and Sig at Liverpool other than the location, the player doesn't change.

Moving to a bigger club like Spurs or Liverpool it should be that he is given the chance to prove that he can perform at the highest level, and therefore proves that he is worth the wages that he wants to the club. But no hard feelings this is football he may end up a dud for all we know. What do you think Ed? -McMenemy

Forget Sig. Weve got bids in for Callegon, Ramirez, Jovetivic and Forlan!

I think we were poaching him from under the noses of Swansea. Can't really complain when Spurs do it to us.

What about Charlie Adam he's on 60k at Liverpool and was on 10k at Blackpool...I wouldnt be surprised if Rick Parry was involved in that deal...lol
