Villarreal been drop to 2nd division can we have few of their player. any name rather the rossi and Nilmar ?

r-r

Have you ever been on this site before, rossi is out injured, maybe forever

Considering rossi has had a serious injury and may need to retire i think he is seriously out of the question

Musacchio could possibly happen, but I don't see it

Red Ollie

Weren't there whispers of potential interest last year in Mateo Mussachio? or was that just another hopeful poster making up stories?

Red7.

On another note, i would jus like to say R.I.P Manuel Preciado. He died of a heart attack early yesterday mornin and was due to be unveiled as new Villareal manager 2mora.

The new away kit is growing on me. Think it's actually smart, don't know what the moanings about.

Afellay staying put..boudebouz + another target (elm?) most likely to sign as soon both parties agree terms {Ed016's Note - Elm and Boudebouz are bother likely}

Elm at Euros

Must be messi then

06 Jun 2012 21:41:33
Eds, If Sigurdsson rejects Swansea, do you think Hoffenheim will up the asking price for a Liverpool bid? {Ed016's Note - doubtful unless there are other offers. We could just walk if they did.}

06 Jun 2012 21:35:42
heard a rumour today that lloriente has been speakin to torres and alonso about liverpool n expect him signed this week is there any truth in dis
please reply if u can {Ed016's Note - The website I see the story has come from isn't very reliable. You could read into it that because he talked to 2 previous Liverpool players that he maybe asking particularly about Liverpool, however he could just be asking them about England, the style of football and Torres is a Chelsea player now too.}

Ha i would love this if it was true! having llorente would be an incredible boost to the squad. however these days i imagine he'd cost about 25-30 million. eds how much you think he would cost?

I honestly believe that with or without Dalglish in charge this coming season our current squad will perform much better than last year, I could see signs of certain players starting to settle down toward the end of the season e.g. Henderson and Carroll. Given that we've got Rodgers in charge now and the type of football he will bring to us I'm really looking forward to the new season.
Jud.

Hi I think you are correct we also needed a change in coaching which has happened,so lets hope it all falls into place Im happy we made the changes and expect to finish in the top four cheers.(godin)

06 Jun 2012 20:32:31
Hi eds, what positions do you reckon we will strengthen? {Ed016's Note - Right side mid, and center forward. If all else stays that will probably do, and maybe some top "cheaper" young prospects like last summer. that's just my opinion.}

06 Jun 2012 21:12:26
Personally I think we should break the bank and pay the 35m euros for Iker Muniain - I believe this kid will become a better player than Scholes, Fabregas and maybe one day a replacement for Xavi
The kid is only 19 yrs old and more advanced and talented than any young player in our academy or reserve team
Offer him £60k week probably 3-4 times his salary at Bilbao
Sell him to Barca after 5 years at the same price or even profit as we did with Torres and Alonso (he can put this in his contract if he doesn't trust us !!)
I believe he can be the catalyst we need to kick start the rebuilding where the likes of hendo / downing / Adam have stuttered

Leam Red (still pushing for the DoF role !!) {Ed016's Note - "Break the bank" Not a very smart thing to do right now. Look at the state of the economy. Also 35 million is a bit much. He would be more 20 million or so. Especially being so young.}

Fair point but 20-25m euros would still be worth it
I appreciate the argument why Muniain if we have sterling both currently playing in the same position but I really think Muniain can be moved to a more central role as he develops eg off the striker or play deeper like Silva / Nasri / scoles / cesc / Xavi etc
That player we have been missing for a few decades now

Leam Red {Ed016's Note - Hopefully but people hoped that about Walcott. We will see. I think he's a class talent with a bright future. Hope it's with us.}

You do know he's a winger right? Oops there goes your arguement; though I still think we should get him

£22m - £25m i'd say

I would also consider playing him where he plays now, a bit further forward and wider than the likes of Xavi...

I think Munian would struggle a lot and i think he'd find England very different to Spain and i also believe it would be a gigantic risk as he is still so young.

But no doubting it, Munian is a very talented player and could certainly play in Brendan Rodgers much talked about ''Zola zone'' for Liverpool.

Although i highly doubt he will move from Bilbao, although it is rumoured Bilbao have been advertising him to other European clubs to entice interest.

I think it's much more likely that Joe Cole will feature in that role for Liverpool, along side Sigurdsson should he arrive as well as other current players from the squad.

Rodgers wants to keep Joe Cole, according to Rudi Garcia (Lille Manager).

"Joe Cole will stay at Liverpool," the Ligue 1 side's coach told Canal+.

"The new staff have decided to keep him. We will remember him very fondly as a player but also as a man." Rudi Garcia Lille manager.

Which implies to me that Lille did try and take a further option with Cole. But it was a no go.

I think the general amount of critism and lack of respect shown towards jay spearing is unreal. Okay the guy isn't and shouldn't for the time being be a first teamer but we need a squad. We need players who love Liverpool and don't cause unrest if they sit on the bench. The guys a local lad (I don't know whether it's snideness towards the Wirral) and shows real pride in playing for the shirt. Look at Manu they for years had the likes of brown, OShea etc sitting on the bench. And I doubt spearing is on big wages.

He was asked to fill in for over half a season for Lucas, who at the time of injury was easily the best DM in the premiership. That was always going to be a tough task. He's young and a lot of players don't really get going till mid 20s. Not the best example but the only one i can think of at the minute, dempsey, 2 years ago Nobody would have had him Anywhere near these pages (personally i still wouldnt).

Let's not forget what YNWA stands for and give the lad a break. We sound like Chelsea fans at times.
CQ

Spearing should never be in ours squad. o'shea and brown went to sunderland and are very decent players. spearing would strougle to make it in the championship on form whereas shelvy is a very tactically and technically gifted player and if he played him instead of spearing we would of looked a different team. spearing was a weak link in our team and with him on we never went on the attack because other players knew he was a liability.

We all love the club, some live near the ground, however being good at football comes first, and it always should! {Ed016's Note - Of course he is a local lad. We all want to see a Local lad lead the team like Stevie. Hopefully if he stays this season its the one that he can shine. }

Shelvey is not good enough , look at is movement.

Do people forget just how young shelvey is?

06 Jun 2012 20:27:52
eds who is more likely out of g.Ramirez and iker munian? {Ed016's Note - Neither are very likely. Tough to say.}

06 Jun 2012 21:03:51
Hi edd think there is a chance that borrell could be assistant manager
Thanks

Red C {Ed016's Note - No.}

06 Jun 2012 20:48:34
Evening Eds quick question for you gylfi sigurdson pardon the spelling linked heavily to the club,nick powell linked to the club.In your opinion who would you suggest offers better value as i see them being similar players. tomo10 {Ed016's Note - Sigurdsson has experience with Rodgers at Swansea so he would be used to his style of play already}

06 Jun 2012 20:47:11
told you that Gylfi Sidgursson was interested in a move to Liverpool couple of days ago and i got slated for it.. anyway, good things coming for liverpool, Sidgursson one of a few good names

He's a Hoffenhiem reject, Looked ok at Swansea, But Charlie Adam was the same at Blackpool and look how he turned out, Siggudrson will be a mistake.

So you are the one that told everybody? I suppose it wasn't in all the papers as soon as Rodgers was appointed I guess. Must be great to be ITK

John B

Not being funny but it wouldn't take a genius to work out that Sigurdsson would love to move to Liverpool.

Tom.

Charlie Adam got relegated at Blackpool, Sidgursson played in a team that got 12th.

does matias suarez play on the wings and could he play with suarez?

06 Jun 2012 20:54:36
Hi Eds and all,
Wanted to ask if anyone has the goss on who the new Assistant Manager will be? Any clue who the possibilities are?
Eds, any info or ideas? I know it's early but you guys have more trusted info than most in my opinion.
Thank you

His assistant at Swansea who we agreed compensation for as well!

Rodgers bought his assistant with him, Pascoe

06 Jun 2012 20:54:28
Hi eds

All this talk about squad clear outs etc are a bit harsh in my opinion. Last season was a bit of a disaster in terms of league position but not in terms of chance creation and general play, what we lacked was a clinical finisher and a bit of luck. I think its worth giving the likes of Adam and Downing another season, they could really flourish in Rodgers style of play. The FSG budget should allow the purchase of good finisher and possibly a good winger and keep our best performers from last year will mena we can achieve champions league by the end of the season. Good luck Brendan YNWA

At last a decent comment

I agree with the form, luck played a part. I can't see how Adam fits into Rodgers style though, he's Mr Hollywood pass, not short smart and simple. He's lazy and doesn't have good positional sense, especially off the ball. Finally he's not a team based player, he seems to prefer the individual praise, play to be the hero e.g Gerrard without the quality.

Downing may come good and may suit Europa and the Cup games, but I see him being sparingly used in the league.

I do believe that Carroll and Hendrrson will come good.

Hopefully when Sigurdsson signs Adam will be first out.

Papa G

Half the so called chances wern't clear cut chances. Brendon Rodgers will have the team playing the ball around a bit more untill a clear cut chance arrives. The ratio between chances and goals scored will improve dramatically.

Bobbinred

Henderson is young and a good prospect. Carroll has been the biggest disappointment and is the reason why KK was sacked. He's nothing more than a someone to change a game with 20 mins left. He's not someone to play with flowing passes around him

Nicely put papa g lad agree there

Eds(001,022,006,005)
have Liverpool serious interest in these players:
Schürrle
Muniain
Cavani

IF they become available? {Ed016's Note - long shots, Cavani is a no}

CAVANI WILL NOT BE COMING TO LIVERPOOL!! jeeez

Ed 16 feels hurt :L {Ed016's Note - Didn't noticed he had specifically asked for another ed's opinion. Sorry.}

06 Jun 2012 20:47:47
Scott Sinclair has handed in a transfer request to join Rodgers at LFC?
Not sure we want every Tom dick and Harry from Swansea but Fits Fsg's policy at 23, right footed and replaces kuyt and good value as they only paid 500k for him {Ed016's Note - He can't buy swans players for 12 months}

Why sign him? He will just block Sterling's route to the first team...

Richards

Would much rather use Sterling than spend millions on Sinclair...

Looking at the current squad on Liverpooltv. Not many players I would say "Get rid of". Gone are the days of the old european crap like, Biscan, Jovanavic, Poulson, Josemi. A good base and now for some quality additions with Goals!

I agree with most of this but why add Biscan? He wasn't the best but played great in some important games for us.

Biscan was a legend

If you like a lot of Igor in your biscan join our club
FowlerisGod

I agree Biscan was a legend. My favourite memory of him is when he scored that goal against Fulham, and looked genuinely really surprised with himself. Didn't even look happy. Just very, very confused

Joe {Ed016's Note - BIIIISCAN!}

Biscan was crap! He always had that "just woke up" look and played the same. He wasn't the worst player we've had in recent years and that fact alone disturbs me !
ANFIELDPETE

Some can't, but Biscan ( or at least Biscould)

Hi Eds & Reds,

I was just thinking earlier, if I could pick a LFC Premier League XI, what would it be and I came up with this:

Reina
Finnan Carragher Hyypia Riise

Mcmanaman Gerrard Alonso

Suarez Torres Fowler

Subs;

Enrique
Hamann
Dudek
Skertel
Litmanen
Rush
and very grudginly (O**n)

your thoughts

Rebel_Red

I'd have babbel over finnan

LAVERS

Barnes?

Richards

Where is P. Burger

John barnes center mid for me everyday

Babbel over Finnan for me too,

Agger in defence for Carragher, tough choice but love how stylish his play is, he is simply class if not so injury prone.

I would also somehow worm Hamann into the team, simply a machine.

Ska-oop

Surely any and every fantasy Liverpool team must include Beardsley in the hole !! B

Where's El Hadji Diouf?

...kidding.... kidding......

Actually i can't believe i managed to type that name. I feel ill now, but i typed it.

Red7.

I'd have Rob Jones at right back

All I can say is what I have heard from my sources (a member from the supporters comitee and the president of a "player union" of the lower leagues in spain)

They all say quite the same.
The main point of them all is that Brendan will TRY to sign this 3 players:

Sigurdsson
Soldado
Muniain

But they are certainly not sure about it, just what they have heard...

Cheers

Phil F

Hopefully if we sign all three i will be delighted!

eds If we got hold of Eriksen and told him our plans would he come. {Ed016's Note - Not without champions league}

Unlikely but would really signal our intentions

Talk about suiting the style of play, throw him in alongside Stevie G and in front of Lucas and we'd have the best midfield in the league... We can always dream i suppose...

06 Jun 2012 20:21:45
Reina
johnson skrtel agger enrique
martinez lucas
g.ramirez l.suarez m.suarez
solado

Would be unreal, but unfortunately also unrealistic

Great team

Where's Stevie G?!?!

Weres gerrard ? everyone seems to be writing him of a bit to early

No Gerrard????

CoolhandLFC

We need stevie in the team, he has to change his game but is good enough to do that in my opinion he is a great forward who would score lots of goals converting the chances we make , we stayed up there as a top club in the eyes of overseas "fans" for the past few years because we had the two best players in the prem' i.e stevie and torres we need stars in the team who are fab and influential .red mick tag

06 Jun 2012 20:21:22
All those bangin on about promoting youngsters they're not there yet you don't want to rush them or they won't grow to their potential. Also they're more prone to injury. A time will come for our acadamey and I can't wait! {Ed016's Note - Don't want a team of Michael Owens}

If they're 22yrs old when they get their chance, so be it. They'll play when they're ready.

06 Jun 2012 20:20:08
Hi Ed's, it appears BR has started his recruitment into new players. Sigurdsson, Adam Johnson, Keita and a clear out of players, these being maxi, aqualani, spearing, cole, doni, jones, downing. Looks like a fresh start all round for the new season, let's hope he is looking at other quality players.

ed with isla going to Juve and correct me if im wrong but i think van der wiel going to chelsea what other right backs would we be looking at to replace johnson? cheers ed JF LFC

{Ed006's Note - Johnson is leaving? This is news to me.}

06 Jun 2012 19:48:58
According to the owners LFC need to make bold moves to move the cub forward. Definition of bold is: Showing an ability to take risks; confident and courageous.

Appointing Brendan Rodgers was a bold move.

Another bold move would be brining in relativley unknown players that are cheap but offer great potential or spending big money on an expensive player before your rivals snap them up.

I think this window is going to become quite interesting... roll on July...

I concur. Good post. He who dares Roddera....
L19 Red

Another bold move mate. Would be for the owners to switch from Daz to Bold, to wash the players kits.

Now that would be a bold move.......

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed016's Note - Cheese}

By the time we do that and the young players come to fruition the other teams
will be over the hill and very,very,very
far away,teams like chelsea,citeh,manu,
arsenal,spurs are not gonna hang around
waiting for all are young players to mature
so we can match them,wake-up will ya.....

auntie annie.........

People forget that not all managers who win the league in their respected countries are as good as managers who can have a newly promoted team playing mid-table. i don't think we could've done much better than appoint BR. the same goes for players. you don't have to spent 20+million to get good quality players and sigurdson for 6.8 or so million is probobly one of the best bits of business in europe.

Hi (Eds) and everyone
Steve Clarke has officially left the club.
seemed like a decent guy and it's a shame the way things have worked out for him.
Good luck to him deserves a decent job, I'm sure he'll be sought after.

EJ {Ed016's Note - Agreed, good luck to him. Also everyone who is posting the "breaking news" plenty of posts about it now}

He'll surely walk into another job somewhere - maybe back at Chelsea ?
The Real KB

I shall watch your reaction with interest when Suarez is sold. {Ed016's Note - Well it seems like the club is actually trying to dispel such rumours. Suarez even greeted new sponsors 3k. If the owners truly thought he was an issue with sponsors they wouldn't let them near them. However if a mega bid comes in then he will probably go.}

I think he was gone the day Kenny left, for all practical purposes.

Good luck to him. Hope he gets the chance to take the reins somewhere. {Ed016's Note - He has been gone since Kenny left}

Amazed that spearing is top of all the posts as one of the first player to be sold,is he not the type of player rodgers loves to fill his team with,busy pressing aggressive always wants the ball young British.some still think we will sign Martinez who would walk in most European champion league teams.come on guys keep it real.

Clee red YNWA

Agree with "keep it real" but spearing is not good enough so he should be sold for a mil or 2 if where lucky!
Kp

Spearing will be sold ( or given away ) because he is not good enough - simples.

Spearing is now overtaken by hendo and shelvey. he is behind gerrard and lucas and if sigurdson arrives he will be behind him too, not to mention if a youth player gets promoted spearing may halt his development. don't get me wrong he is a good wee player and i would still have him ahead of aqua and cole. i also think he will cut it in the epl but unfortunitely not at lfc.

06 Jun 2012 19:24:37
Eds and who ever else, just wondered what you thought about top top signings vs perhaps unproven players who may play better team football

I actually do not think LFC need all these top top names players who live like pop idols often, and Brendan Rodgers if i remember right on talk sport mentioned the topic of not looking for just big names, but players who would add the the teams phiolosophy of play and that often players who were relatively unknown and in lower leagues could add as much as some of these other over hyped, blown out of all proportion by the media players.

Im not saying Hulk, Hazard, etc etc are not great players but personally think (especially hazard, ronaldo etc) that they can be so self important that in the end it would be far better having someone who really wanted to prove themselves and fight for a team
gareth

Hulk and hazard for 35 million each + mega wages. your having a laugh. although we can't slag, but still hulk is so overrated and hazard has done well in the french league but the premiership is a huge step up. i'm glad liverpool aren't buying any of them players

Hi! Ed(s) I was hoping you could sum up what our interest is like in the following players :
L.de.Jong
Sigurdsson
Boudebouz
Afellay
Ramirez
Isla
Van der wiel
Butland

Seems these are our main targets so realistically I think that our summer could shape up like this

Ins:
Sigurdsson 7m
Ramirez 15m (Ish)
Van der wiel 13m
Afellay 8m
Butland 3m

Outs:
Aquaman - fiorentina - 8m
Spearing - Southampton - 4m
Johnson - ?- 13m

+cole returns from loan

Ed(s) what do u think {Ed016's Note - Use the search function. All these players have been discussed previously over and over.}

Spearing 4m?! When kuyt went for 1?

06 Jun 2012 19:21:56
Summer Signings;

-Gylfi Sigurdsson-7 Million
-Luuk De Jong-12 Million
-Ibrahim Afellay-6 Million
-Mohamed Diame-Free

06 Jun 2012 19:08:38
I know every wonts a top striker but think they should bring through Morgan he would play his socks off for Liverpool he is a player you can take a chance on rather then pay millions for a player who can turn out to be crap Morgan wouldn't cost nothing

When you say, "wouldn't cost nothing" you do realise that means he will cost something?

Chris in Tamworth

Quel pedant.

I know, I know, I just can't help it!

Chris in Tamworth

It is too early for him. just because he is doing it for the u-18's doesn't mean he'll do it in the premier league. don't get me wrong he is a great prospect and i think he has great potential can be a great player for us but it is much too early. if you look at sterling etc i think that he will have to be playing with the first team in training for a while before he will get gametime in competitive games.

He has been training with the first team a while!

hi ed, Firstly, I would really like to praise you for your wonderful works for liverpool fans.I would like to see very much affelay play in liverpool this upcoming season.Ed,could you pliz tell are we still interested in affelay and also will it be possible for liverpool to sign him in this summer transfer window 2012. Thanks. faris d' kop {Ed016's Note - I personally don't think we ever were interested.}

06 Jun 2012 19:00:48
Hey Ed's, I've just been on player-profiles and have been reading up on Andre Schurrle; it says that we've had him scouted in the past but interest remains unclear, do you know of any interest?

Cheers. {Ed016's Note - No interest remains unclear}

Why does there seem to be no interest in Huntelaar.We need another striker and he has got to have the best stats out there. He has scored goals in the Dutch,Spanish,Italian and German leagues.Is about 28yrs old and would'nt break the bank. He is a must along with a couple of other signings.

Ed's, Macca

I have heard from a source who works withi Anfield that Rodgers has stated he would like Xabi Alonso back if the transfer can be negotiated.

Not sure of costs or anything like this. Just passing on something I have heard.

Ed's, Macca - Have you heard anything about this? Would love to see Xabi back at Liverpool and feel he would be great in the centre of the three man midfield that we would have next season under Rodgers!! I know Xabi himself says he would love to come back but I cannot help thinking the Owners just won't stump up a huge amount for someone of his age!

Jon LFC {Ed016's Note - Everyone would love this. I think Xabi would always be open to a return. But unfortunately I don't see it happening. Also a bit odd that your source works "within Anfield" yet Rogers is there only on match days and all other business is done either at Melwood or the City offices or in Boston. Sorry mate}

So Clarke has left, Im not happy about that.

I'll admit i really didnt want Rodgers to take over, He was brutal at Watford, Sacked by Reading and when he took over at Swansea they were already playing that style of football thanks to Martinez and Paolo Sousa. Rodgers didnt improve that team, Anyway, Hes our new manager so ill give him a chance.

What id like to happen next season...

Kuyt is gone, Id also get rid of Henderson 12m, Spearing 1m, Downing 8m, Carroll 18-20m, Shelvey 1m, Adam 4m, Maxi 1m and Bellamy 1m.

I can also see Reina, Skrtel and Suarez asking to leave. Id love to keep Reina and Skrtel but Suarez can go, Dont want someone like him wearing our jersey, He brings to much trouble and bad publicity to the club, I said the same when we signed him, He bit a player and spit at 2 others when playing for Ajax, He cheated a country in the world cup then laughed about, We all know what he said to Evra and theres absolutley no need for that sort of thing in this day and age, Anyway, If Reina leaves we could get about 10m, Skrtel 15m and Suarez 20m, So all together we could have about 100m to spend this summer

Id take Cole and Aqualaini back for a start. Im not gonna say what players i think we will get because Rodgers will have his targets and theres no point speculating about it, I just honestly hope the stories with Siggurdson are not true, He was brutal at Hoffenhiem and he was a big fish in a small pond at Swansea, Just like Charlie Adam was at Blackpool, I just hope Rodgers has some quality targets and not the players we are been linked with like Hoillett, De Jong (The next Ryan Babel) Moses and Diame

We need big changes at this club and a big season, This season could be make or break, We need to get behind the team and stop bickering amongst ourselves

Alan D, YNWA {Ed016's Note - Yeah get rid of Hendo and Carrol, you know what keep Aquilani and Cole, may want to re-read that and realise if you were in charge we would have no players come the start of the season......I want whatever you're drinking}

So you're saying, let go

Hendo
Adam
Spearing
Downing
Carroll
Shelvey
Maxi
Adam
and that Suarez can go but not to worry we can bring old Cole and Alberto "For god's sake how many time do we have to say he doesn't want to play for liverpool or in England in general" Aqualani in to replace the 5 CM, 2 ST, 2 Wingers, nether mind we just sold Kuyt and to only buy expensive players of "Quality players to replace them!!

Lets say a "Quality" player cost 15m to thats 150m for the 9 players plus Kuyt replacements and these players would need more expensive wages and that we would probably have to give them all game time meaning we would have 4 CM + Gerrard and Lucas expecting first team football

For pete's sake listen to yourself man this maddness -McMenemy

It ain't FIFA mate

You are not right in the head - let Saurez go, you have to have a screw loose, so let's improve our team by selling the only world class player we have !!! The Evra affair was a joke, the biting thing, he was punished for - and as far as the World Cup incident - if Gerrard did that and kept England in the World Cup - he'd be a hero.

John B

The grass is always greener! your a plonket. sell two class prospects for cole and aquilani ? get real, who in utter christ let you out of the asylum ?

What the chips has Steve c just left??

06 Jun 2012 18:51:12
A lot of our players, including our main strikers Carroll and Suarez, don't really fit the Rodgers philosophy, which I understand to be quick passes, one or two touches, and constant heads-up movement into space. Carroll is more a traditional English center-forward, and Suarez is more of a head-down dribbler.

It seems to me an awful lot of Reds players are going to have to learn a new way to play, and quite quickly.

Next season is certainly going to be interesting . . .

Ed if we did get sigurdsson there would be no reason to get elm they both play cm don't they I think we should get boudebouz an put Morgan through to first team I know every 1 wonts a top striker but that lad would play is socks off for Liverpool we never give any youth players a chance we probably bring 1 threw then the rest of the youth u will never hear from them again

He's nowhere nearly ready.

Big News on the New Team of Executives to help and aid Brendan Rodgers will be announced tomorrow or Friday.
Looks like Skrtel could be off to Man City as head been turned - at least with City in for him we will get decent money!
Lastly Suarez will be staying - Liverpool have no intention to sell.

Have to say rodgers on the official website again going on about his Swansea and the way to play football is just starting to get a bit annoying, dont know about anyone else.
If his team and style of football were so good how come he never ended the season way above us? after all by all accounts we were absolutely terrible, just ask Kenny he was sacked for it.
Look I'm desperate for us to be title contenders and win it, but the fact is last seasons squad did not perform and this season if Kenny was there we would all have expected a far better showing from the same team anyway. Whilst I understand it takes time to build a team I think he is about to find out that the pressure here is different to Swansea, top 4 is expected whilst developing the side, the finished article is expected to win.

His squad was full of championship quality players who finished only afew points behind our team full of established internationals.

MC: Alberto Aquilani
MRL: Maxi Rodriguez
GK: Brad Jones
FC: Daniel Pacheco
ST: Nathan Eccleston
MC: Jay Spearing
GK: Doni

No shortlist has been drawn up by Rodger's and his management team YET! Expect that to change in the next couple weeks thought when he will begin to move for players.

Thomas müller of bayern munich claiming he is considering his future at the club and will Only talk after Euros. Long shot i know but i have always admired him since he broke through at bayern the season before he got joint top scorer at 2010 world cup. Great versatile forward who has enough physical prescence to cope in the premier league no doubt. Have liverpool ever had any interest ed? Cheers!

So we've been linked with god knows how many players, I'm listing some that I would prefer.

I. Affelay Barcelona 6-8 million.
G. Sigurrdson Hoffenheim 6-7 million.
N. Powell Crew 4-5 million.
R. Elm Alkmaar 5-8 million.

Total of 21-28 million.

Now these are the more expensive signings.

R. Soldado Valencia 20-25 million.
I. Munian Bilbao 20-25 million.
G. Ramirez Bologna 10-20 million.

Total of 50-70 million.

Outs.

Kuyt 1 million.
Rodriguez 1-2 million.
Aqualani 4-5 million.
Spearing 1-2 million.
Adam 5-7 million.
Downing (I'm hoping he has an excellent euros so someone buys him) 10-14 million.

This totals 71-98 million. I know we won't be able to afford all of these, but what a team the reds would have with these.

They are all viable options, but I think we will get 4-5 out of the eight and mainly coming from the first list to the latter.

Elm is there any news on Elm as it seems to have gone quiet on him? Also do you know if we made any attempt to sign Kagawa before he signed for the mancs?

To all those that say bring back AQUAMAN, he doe's not want to be here, he doe's not like life in England, plus as Ed's have said time and time again he is LAZY and as a negative attitude in training, which means he brings negativity.

Get shot for whatever LFC can get to get his massive wage plus benefits off the books for someone who WANTS to play for Liverpool FC.

Cole deserves another shot, had a bad start in his first season, we could use him with Bellamy, alternate them due to bellers knee's.

Cannot see any big names being bought in, just lots of youngsters and perhaps the odd first teamer. But no massive player. Would love to be wrong but.....

Ed's your thoughts please?

You think that Raheem Sterling is more technically gifted than Theo Walcott? The two are very similar players. Good dribblers, but Sterling lacks any power in his shots, which ultimately effects his effectiveness in crossing the ball.

I'm sure his strength will improve as he gets older.
That's one reason people say he is not ready yet.

MIKEY

Walcott is awful Sterling is miles better

Sterling already has more end product than theo ever had

"Sterling lacks any power in his shots, which ultimately effects his effectiveness in crossing the ball" - not sure I would agree at all with this statement or that it makes any sense?!

Also Sterling has a footballing brain, Walcott has not. Walcott is about as agressive on the pitch as my nan on the bog, whereas Sterling is always trying to win the ball and fight for the cause.

Nevertheless you can't judge Sterling or compare him accurately until he has played perhaps 15 games in near succession... we will be probably 2013.

Cheers JY

First of all, as long as he can keep placing the ball in corners as i have seen he is well capable of doing he will be fine if he doesnt develop a "cannon" and i also dont know how the power behind his shots affects his crossing?

Have u ever seen walcott do any skills like raheem does?

Didn't you see the three crosses he put in all of them were on point and directly to the intended targets?

And he's only sixteen... I teach PE to secondary school kids and not many can strike a ball like an adult crossing or shooting!

Maybe we give him a couple more years, maybe even let him pass his driving test!

Dirks Engine Room

I've seen Sterling put a couple of 35 yarders in the top corner, so I don't think there's much wrong with his power.

Ed with Enrique dropped at the end of the season and the constant rumours of Johnson leaving who are likely targets if indeed we do decide to change here. I dont mind Johnson but I was never really sold on enrique to be honest, strong but lack of finess and positioning for me.
It also looks like Isla is off to Juve which is a shame.

Im a huge fan of sigurdsson he was fabulous fo reading and swansea. But do we really need him eds with the current squad.

Scouse ben

Only if we let adam go..

Piccolo

Yes the quality in our midfield needs improving, esspecially going forward. The way Rodgers sets up his teams the midfield is key. I could also see maybe Charlie Adam and maybe Jay Spearing Leaving the club, Shelvey may go on loan. Sigurdsson is also a very good player whos available for only £6.8m and we also need a bigger squad next season.

06 Jun 2012 16:48:16
for me the most likely signings are:
Muniain 25m max
De Jong 12m
sugurdson 7m
dempsey as a backup 4m

06 Jun 2012 16:38:55
Rodgers is prepared to let Skrtel leave and is hoping to replace him with Douglas who plays in Holland for Twente, who will cost less than what we get for Skrtel putting a few more pennies in the transfer kitty. The Robster.

It would be madness to let our player of the season go now. Make sure he stays!

06 Jun 2012 16:34:00
Well since everyone else seems to be making a transfer wish list in this down time, here is mine. I think the players are mostly realistic.

Adrian - Atletico Madrid
Borja Valero - Villareal
Luciano Narsingh - Heereveen
Jetro Willems - PSV
Adam Maher - AZ

Xabi Alonso (oh baby jeezus please, I beg of you)

06 Jun 2012 16:27:22
Why are people asking about Munian? He will cost 30 million plus, and surely one of the big spending clubs will sign him. My money is on Inter or Juventus. Would love to have him, but it simply isn't realistic.

I could only see it as a possibility if the club sell Suarez. The money raised from his sale would be enough.. Also, if we are to sell Suarez, the club would have to show ambition to the fans by signing someone of his calibre..

06 Jun 2012 16:10:18
everyone goes on about Aqualini being fragile too soft on the ball but let me tell you one thing ive watched this guy loads he technically more gifted than Shelvey, Adams and Spearing. You dont hear anyone dissing Silva or Mata or the 2 Barca players in the middle they are not built like brick houses but what they do have is like Aqualini the technical skill to open up matches and I think that would suit Suarez alot.
The reason they wanted Aqualini out was because of the £5m payment that would of been triggered but personally I think he,s worth it.

How dare you even slightly compare aqua to the likes of the barca boys! Aqua is poor... And who the hell is Adams?

G BOX

Its not about their height, build or even weight its about a desire to win and keep hold of the ball a trait shown more so by the 'two Barca players' as you called them. As soon as Barca lose the ball the midfield chase it down, the only way Aquilani would chase the ball down was if it was covered in chocolate.

BIG CHANGES !! Rodgers believes most of the squad is simply not up to it, including all four of Kenny's signings.
Cole is being giving the first three pre-season games to show he is good enough, Aquilani the same. Carragher will stay as a player. The owners are prepared to give Rodgers £40m plus player sales:

Being sold - Spearing, Henderson, Adam, Downing, Maxi (for wage reasons) Pacheco, Darby, Brad Jones, Carroll.

Ins - Sigurddson, Dembele, Nick Powell, Diame
+ Hoilett (both free) Munian, Soldado

Big Dog

Holiest has already signed for a german club.

Agree with Soldado and Munian but I doubt we will get both.

Sigurdson virtually sorted, Powell I'd take, but I'd throw in Affelay for the fee he is going for.

Jonesred

Bit harsh to say he hasnt even had a chance to assess them, other than what he already knows from playing against them and no doubt match analyst dvd`s?
Plus most are on holidays or with national teams.
Liking your INS, keep Caroll and Hendo who i believe have already been told they only have next season to prove things.

Rumors on Adam Johnson joining liverpool are very unrealistic due to the fact the price tag on him is 16M now united have purchased Shinji Kagawa for the small price of 12M who is twice the player of Johnson so we need to not listen to what the papers are telling us we could get someone just as good as Kagawa for 16M and who is definately better than Johnson.

JM

Kagawa only had a year left on his contract. Hence the reduced fee. He is 20m player at least.

Not many clubs would pay £16 mil for a player sidelined for a year who has been fit .
thanx mal

For a lot less than £16m you could buy BOTH Markel Susaeta and Ibrahim Afellay.

06 Jun 2012 15:40:08
Eds any chance liverpool could go for both De Jong and Schurrel?

IMO would be immense with suarez in a 4-3-3.

And if only one is possible which one would you take and why?

Cheers

Cheers Ed022

This confuses me Ed. How can having Andy Carroll and Luuk De Jong work?

They are both similar style of player, similar ability and age. Playing one would just hinder the progress of the other, and I don't believe in rotation..

Thoughts?

Afellay would be a great buy according to our Budget ! Don't forget that we've got Sterling to Use too ! With Lucas back in training and Aqualani & Cole returning ....We've got a strong Attacking team ! Not forgetting our wonderful defense 4 ( Glen Johnson , Agger , Skirtle , Enrique )

06 Jun 2012 15:52:14
i think just 4 good players will be enough to mount a serious challenge next season.. we already have a reasonably solid spine, we just need to build on top of it. cover for carroll, lucas and enrique, plus, a decent winger.. and replace outgoing players. though we DO NOT need to buy big names. its just not necessary. we have a long standing tradition of creating world class talent, not spending a fortune to get them. i just hope we can get back to that tradition as soon as possible. also, since when has buying big name players, been less of a risk, than buying unknown talent? how many of you knew who skrtel was before he joined? or hyypia? how many of you jumped on the 'big name bandwagon', so to speak, when a big name did come? i.e. morientes? id love to see players such as muniain, llorente, hummells... etc etc, but i would much rather have someone who can do the same job, half the price and on half the wage...

All the possible transfer targets for LFC below & the thing with the players here fit in with the kind of style rodgers wants to play.

Signing Chance in percent.
10% Poor | 100% High

Munian - 50%
Luuk De Jong 80%
Sigurdsson - 95%
Johnson - 65%
Boudebouz - 80%
Elm - 55%
Granero - 70%
Krasic - 75%
Soldado - 80%
Vargas - 65%

Unrealistic Gossip
Cavani

I seriously hope we keep shelvey he seems to be showing his potential and will only get better

I agree shelves has all the potential in the world and offers a real goal treat hope he stays for a long time

06 Jun 2012 15:13:06
From the rumours I've seen:

IN:

Winger - Boudebouz/A.Johnson/Ramirez/Elm/Moses.
Striker - De Jong/Dempsey/Powell/Rhodes/Soldado.
CM/DM - Diame/Granero/Javi Martinez/Allen.
AM - 'Aquilani'/Sigurddson/'Cole'.

Most likely - Sigurddson, Boudebouz, Dempsey, Diame.

OUT:

Possibly - Skrtel, Suarez, Cole, Aquilani, Johnson, Maxi, Adam, Downing, Reina, Spearing.

Certain - Kuyt, Aurelio.

Elm is NOT a winger! And, Ed, is Cole staying now that Rudi Garcia has said, we want to keep him?

AG {Ed022's Note - His wages are too high, so unless they are cut down I doubt he will stay.}

So were getting rid of 12 and buying 4 or 5, Hmmmm.

Your "sauce" must be "gone off" his head

Get rid of reina and not buy another keeper?
Lpoolkris

For me I'd like

Affelay 6-8 million
Elm 59 million.
Powell 4-5 million
Sigurdson 6-7 million.
Soldado 20-25 million.

And one of Gaston Ramirez or Munian the latter being the preferred choice.

Jonested

Yes Liverpool do overpay for players but surely 59 million for Elm is a little drastic. ;)

That was supposed to be 5-9 million for Elm

Jonedted, that's a fair wack for elm

Promoted: Sterling, Suso

Loaned; Wilson, Wisdom, Gulaci

Out: Spearing, Kuyt, Maxi, Eccleston, Pacheco, Darby, Adam, Aquallani

Cheers

Hi Eds,all these wish lists of players is a bit o.t.t. I really cant see us getting any real mega signings until we get back into the European Cup again!
I think weve made a great move bringing in B.R. and hope all the supporters give him the chance he deserves..Its gonna be tough enough getting in the Top 4 next season so all who think we have a chance of winning the title are slightly over optimistic..
Id love to see Aquaman back in a red shirt next season and with him Stevie and Lucas in midfield and Carroll Saurez and Joe Cole upfront i think would work well with maybe 1 decent striker to going the squad we will have a chance of getting in the Top 4..This is just my opinion and really looking forward to total football back at Anfield...YNWA JFT96

why does everyone want to see cole and aquilani back? maybe cole in the role that bellamy played for us last year and to make players work for their position, but surely not as a starting player. as for aquilani. he shows some creative ability when he isn't laying on the ground or injured. he doesn't have the physical ability to play in the premier league, plain and simple. we need young players, and ones without high wage bills. the players we should buy are

sigurdsson
luk de jong
adam johnson
boudebouz
elm

these players would be great at liverpool and the goals will start to flow again

YNWA

Id much rather cole and aquaman than spearing, adam, henderson, downing and shelvey.

Aquilani never. Cole, maybe. Depends on fitness levels and if the manager can see him being useful. His wages are a bit of a drain though don't you think?
What's he on about 100k?
You could have 2 or 3 players for that money and they would probably be more useful, or one really special player.

Does anybody else reckon cole and aquliani cud be ideal in brendan rogers style of play??

Yes,but all depends on attitude and fitness!! B

Hello, hello, HELLO ! - who is that ?

Puzzled

06 Jun 2012 14:38:51
After viewing different videos of sigurrdson i have to say he is a very good player and i hope brendan rodgers buys him and replaces him for charlie adam, he is a much better version of charlie adam. Also i would like to add i hope we can sell joe cole, spearing, downing and andy carroll if a reasonable offer comes in, along with aquilani it he wants to go, also maxi. Replace them with sigurrdson, belhanda or boudebouz, soldado, another winger and lb. RedTurk

Couldn't keep "CARROLL" out of your post? Is it really that hard?

06 Jun 2012 14:25:15
Eds any chance you can ask people or filter yourselfs to stop people putting thier opinions on the RUMOUR page.
I come on the rumour page to read rumours not to see who people think we should buy or shouldnt buy. This site was great last season but seems to have lost focus this year. {Ed002's Note - We tr and keep it tidy.}

Most the rumours are a load of bull anyway! Think the eds do a great job for a free site. I check most transfers out when there announced by the club! Where as this site is a lighthearted relief from the daily grind.

Mike

06 Jun 2012 14:11:17
Hi eds.....whats the latest concerning transfers.....Cole is coming back according to reports bcos BR wants to give him another chance, is this gonna be the same with Aquaman.....also was wondering if anything new has happened concerning the DOF or Stadium.....thanks and please post
Kabir {Ed002's Note - Please try and mak the effort to read the other posts - you canot seriously expect us to write little summaries for you.}

06 Jun 2012 14:08:45
Ed's,
Tried using the search function and didn't find what I was looking for. So I have a quick question?
Will the search function give me all results from rumours and banter or does it operate seperately for both pages regarding results posted in each section.

Who is the kid mentioned yesterday as a huge potential right back making LFC to try Flano in midfield with the reserves as they see this kid as a future starter?

Chi-Paul {Ed002's Note - It works on both and I have no idea about someone mentioned yesterday - can't you glance through the posts?}

Ryan mcglaughlin(spelling) i think.
huddz red

Could be mendy

McCloughlin I think

Its ryan mclaughlan (spelling). i remember that particular post.

Big Dog

Hasn`t Hoillett already signed for a german club?

I agree with all the players you have that are been sold, but we have no chance of signing dembele, powell, munian, soldado and hoilett.

Big Buffoon,

I never knew you were BR's wife who knows everything that happens with him. Wont you rather Gerrard is sold also, so that the midfield will be better 'without' him. Bloody Dog.

Ridiculous.... you expect BR has pre-judged the squad without even seeing them train once?
Championship manager....

Richards

Kenny made more than 4 signings including Enrique, Bellamy and Suarez so im thinking your post is a load of made up crap and you just dont like the players you listed as being sold.

Secondly it is very unlikely 9 players will be sold and 7 bought, it just wont happen.

Sorry but im sick of BS like this.

Some people on here are in dreamland and need to realise we have no chance of signing players such as cavani, munian, llorente, dempsey etc. Sad to say it but we cant attract the players that we used to attract, we only have europa lge football because we beat cardiff on peno's. It looks like we will be signing players like moses, diame, sigurdson etc. and to be honest, players like that wont really improve our squad. Not looking forward to next season, especially as city, united, chelsea, newcastle, spurs and arsenal will all attract top players for next season. Hopefully Rodgers can succeed where Dalglish failed and get a few decent performnaces out of Downing, Carroll, Henderson and Adam. Also, Hope the rumours of Reina, Skrtel and Suarez wanting out of the club are not true, Though to be honest, Im not to fussed if Suarez is moved on, Id happily take 20m for him and be rid of him, Trouble just follows him through out his career, No time for someone like him at our club. Stephen DubRed.

Gah, some fans make me want to tear my own eyes out. Plus, 20m for Suarez? So you'll take the what, 7million loss that would bring?

McSnuggles..

At last a liverpool fan whos not deluded and knows how things are regarding players coming in,top players want champs footie and liverpool probs wont get champs league footie for ages now.I think tho mate you should keep suarez because he is the only player you have who can change a game.Terry

Agree stephen, We wont be able to get any 'big' players this season, But rodgers could get the most out of moses, diame, siggurdsson etc. Id also let reina and suarez go but keep skertl, i think we'd get about 25m for suarez, juventus were linked with a 23m bid for him but we could prob push them to 25m, skeeter.

Personally, Id be happy to see the back of Suarez, No time for him at all, Nothing but a trouble maker and is just using us as a stepping stone to get a move to a big club

Seany

And some people on here live in negative land. There are plenty of top quality players that will require CL or/and big wages we won't pay, but there are still some top players and plenty of good quality players that would jump at the chance to play for the club. We can't attract them because we're in europa league?! yet according to your insightful knowledge Newcastle can, with their europa league spot, and manager very few would have heard of outside of the UK. They were also in the championship the season before last, and have surprised all with their incredible season, which may yet turn out to be a one season hit, yet the same people who tip them for attracting top players and challenging easily for CL next season, slate our own manager for only having one good season so far in the EPL.
There's no parity at all where certain so called fans are concerned. You don't need to put on the rose tinted specs, but at least take off the doom and gloom ones.

SCF27

You lot should NEVER call yourselves Liverpool fans! I'm glad your not the manager otherwise we would be looking at going down! and how can you say we wouldn't get Dempsey (not that I think we want him) you are a joke go back and get more practice on champ manager because you sound like you need it!

The original poster is fairly on the ball although it may not be that bad, however irt won't be that good either.

Make of that what you will

Con-fu-cis

I'm getting a bit worried about Terry. Has he lost all his friends, and decided to hang out on this site? He seems to pop up all over the place with his anti-LFC sniping at the moment.crawl back under the rock you came from Terry Blue.

BigBadBen.

Some players we have been linked with are and have been far fetched for sure...but losing money on suarez?? How does that make sense?

gareth

06 Jun 2012 13:43:45
It looks as if we are preparing a bid for Sigurdsson, ed do you think this is potentially the only player to be brought in before the euros?

Bcos i can see many players valuations rocketing if they have a good euro - i.e. affellay. {Ed002's Note - The timing is not something that we can really comment on sensibly.}

Someone in need of a crystal ball?

Even Rogers does not know these things?

How the bleedin hell would you expect anyone to know the timing of signings?

Some of you are just bleedin Weird

I've said it before and will say it again you are in cloud cookoo land if you think any of the big names will sign for us even if ee could afford them.sigurdsson,dempsey maybe Johnson is all we will get keep it real.

06 Jun 2012 13:40:12
So, we have the media headlines stating: "Dave Whelan hits back at reds" ...really? I don't see being publicly scolded, branded a comedian and then run away with your tails between your legs as "Hitting back" BUT, yet again, the anti Liverpool media just HAVE to try and inflict damage on our club.

Am sure John Bishop will have a thing to say bout Whelan taking his crown...YNWA!!

How can you say the media is against you all the time,have never known supporters like you lot who think the world is against you get real the media say crap about every club not just you sad lot,you fans are so so so deluded and thick its unreal.Terry

Terry, you seem to have a lot to say about Liverpool fans. All of it criticism.
But I'm slightly puzzled why you're reading through a Liverpool rumours page when you're clearly not a Liverpool fan.
Call us all the names you want, but you, are a weirdo

Joe

Haha right, who has time to scroll through a clubs page who isnt their own.. and who would want to? loser

Listen joe its called a banter page and i go on every prem page to see what fans put and by far yours is the most deluded with the most thick fans who are living in the past,you need to wake up joe and the rest of ye fans..By the way mouth if you go on other teams pages you will see its full of you lot talking crap esp united,city,everton,spurs and chelsea pages so tell your shower to stay off other teams pages if you dont like us true fans telling you what you deluded lot are really like,you weirdo.Terry

Terry, as a 'true fan'(WTF?), could you please try and make your inane ramblings a little more accurate?

The first stage of this would be signing them 'weirdo Terry'.
save us pointing it out to you...

BigBadBen

Bcoz terry's own club's banter age is so boring, hence his frequent visits on the liverpool page. The chelsea page is full of Fantasy Football teams, n wishful signings. Nothing about the club in general.

06 Jun 2012 13:30:38
Don't wanna go on about it but, Rodgers signing a Hoffenheim reject and said reject ends up playing like a cross between Gerrard and Beckham? In 4months too.. The new boss could work miracles for our current squad, plus some signings, I think it could be our year next year and really surprise people. But then again I've said this every year since 1994/5 season..

Im with you, if nothing else this coming season is going to be very interesting for Liverpool fans, I believe we wont have a season like last the misses, the woodwork, the missed penalties... I could go on... I believe we will have a better season - a good start is essential to breath some confidence into players and fans...

Cant bloody wait, just hope non of our team get injured at the Euros.

YNWA jns

Yeah maybe a much better season :-)

Maybe better than lst season but then again my money is on maybe not!

I'am trying to be positive but I just can't find a reason at the moment!

Mr. Optimism

Mr.Rodgers thinking about his answers and saying the right things.BUT remember Brendan the snide(mostly anti LFC press)will be chronicling all you say.So -a) i'ld back off with the statments if i was you.Actions speak louder than words.b)Make sure you can deliver on what your saying

Would you rather he came out and said stupid things ?

I think this poster is trying to tell him not to talk to the media, but he really can't NOT talk to the media - it's a part of his EVERY DAY JOB. I'm sure it's in the description on his contract, lol. And then he answers the questions the press asks of him.

McSnuggles

Rogers should come out and say:

Look

I am a mgr with little experience

I have won nothing

I have little money to spend, am going to ask Roman for a few bob

I will win nothing this year

I will win nothing next year If I am still here

How can I compete with Chelsea
32m for Hazzard
A bargain 7M for Marin
40m for Hulk
etc.
We got some guy whos name I can't even pronounce for 6.8m

Anyone see the funny side, maybe not!

Original poster here,just saying maybe be tad less open(not Kenny style thats miles away)Cos Media will Build anyone for fall.In reply to 2nd poster-you obviously lack ability to read between the lines,or look at broader view of how Media have hounded LFC of late_K ob

Have not posted in a while, but this is worth it!

I had an idea, if it is legal that is..?

Say i am Thomas cook, or Mcdonalds, Or Santander ......

Can i go " Here liverpool, here is 25M, i want you to buy ______ "

Then on the back of his shirt, is said company sponsor, under the number or something.

Is this possible, legal?
Could be a revolutionary way to sign players without spending a penny...

Benny Baller {Ed002's Note - It is not possible.}

Who pays 5m a year wages?

cozinoz

We would pay the wages, we will be paying wages anyhow, just we wouldnt have to fork out on transfer fee?

Why is it not possible ed, care to elaborate? Many clubs around the world have more than 1 shirt sponsor, and on the back....

Benny baller

Those clubs come from poorer countries where these clubs NEED all the money they can get - their jerseys look horrible because of it. Their uniforms are so cluttered and ugly in general, it'll probably never make the transition to major European football. There's too much money already. Plus, I'm sure the leagues wouldn't allow it.

McSnuggles

You could always sign the player you want and thereafter force him to change his name to "Pepsi" LOL

There are too many jokes!

{Ed002's Note - There are very strict rules abot sponsorship and ownership of players.}

Good Value Players :
Affelay - 6million
Powell - 10million
Sigurdsson - 7million
Dos Santos - 4million
Diami - free
Narsingh - 7million
Vertoghen - 12million
De Jong - 10million
Boudebouz - 8million
Clyne - 3million
Keita - 3million
Hoeillet - free

Expensive Players :
Martinez - 25million
Solado - 20million
Muniain - 25million
Ramirez - 18million
Johnson - 17million

How can an 18 year old lad from crewe in league two cost more than 2 barca first team players combined

£10M for powell ? get real

What is this obsession with Dos Santos?... I just dont get it.. Yes he is fabulous for his country but he has been at Spurs for 4yrs and so far has been loaned out to at least 3 other clubs and at all of them he has failed to impress.. He turns up late to training and ask any Spurs fan and they will tell you he never shows any commitment to the cause!
I think we can do a lot better..
ItsNotRocketScience

Soldado martinez and muniain will cost more than that also affelay is too injury prone for my liking. say what you want about kenny's signings but at least they had good records
regarding injury's

06 Jun 2012 12:18:49
Eds.. I read chelsea are looking at selling kevin de bruyne already dunno y or how much truth is in it but they got him for £7mil.. Our sorta price range, age n a winger.. Wat do u think about him and chances of comin to liverpool..? Cheers {Ed022's Note - No they aren't at all and that's utter BS. De Bruyne will more than likely be loaned out next season, and there are a host of clubs interested in him.}

06 Jun 2012 12:15:28
i cringe whenever people say we should aspire to be like swansea, sign half their team and buy players who can be our very own allen, britton, dyer, sinclair. they're a mid table team as are athletic bilbao. let's build to try and be like the great ajax, barca and liverpool sides of the 70's, not swansea

06 Jun 2012 12:10:04
lucas leiva has gone from being our most underrated player to our most overrated one, although jose enrique is also extremely overrrated, one of the best LB's in the world my ar$e

If you cant see how important lucas is to our team then your a fool it was his injury that caused our down turn in form had he been fit i can safely say we would probably have been up there challenging for fourth well at the most we would have been a damn site closer than we was i think you need to learn about the game

Someone got out the wrong side of their crypt this morning.

Dirks Engine Room

Dont think lucas is overated
he is along wiht gerrard suarez agger skrtel and reina the spine of our team

didnt you see how bad we were with spearing instead of him

as for enrique i think he was fatigued at the end of the season

Just as an aside, now that Kuyt is off to Turkey (good luck Dirk) will Dirk'sEengine Room have a name change?

Puzzled

Its got so bad that we think Lucas is a world beater, he's not, I can't see Barca wanting to swap him for Xavi, can you?

06 Jun 2012 12:06:58
With Gylfi Sigurdsson set to be one of our 1st signings of the summer, it left me thinking we'd be in a similar situation to what we had last summer, a stock pile of central midfielders who aren't quite at the level to take us to where we want to be.

In Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Adam, Shelvey, Spearing, Aquilani, and Cole, we have a whole host of midfielders even before you add Gylfi.

Of those midfielders, only Lucas (pre-injury) and Gerrard would get into any of our traditional competitors midfield.

In an ideal world, I would hope the club are looking to move Adam, Spearing, Aquilani and Cole. Aquilani and Cole whilst talented are not talented enough to warrant their wages. Adam and Spearing aren't of the necessary quality. Thus leaving us with Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson and Shelvey.

Add Sigurdsson, who it seems the club will go for instead of Rasmus Elm (previously linked) and another more defensively minded option (we've been linked with Jordy Clasie) and I think we would have a more rounded midfield options. Add Suso and Coady to the mix and I think we will be in good shape.

In reality, I can't see us making such major changes, but I think its necessary.

RedSG

Spot on about our midfield, and our squad only needs tweaking.

If we're to keep Suarez I think he will play a wider role under BR, so we just need to sign an out & out winger to play on the right, with Carroll up top. Downing & Bellamy will stay as competition. Also another striker for competition, but one that will not hinder Carroll's progress..

Stone YNWA.

Lucas would not get into any of our competitors sides

Who would he replace at

UTD (Scholes, what a joke?)
Chelsea (FFS not even Essien who a beast can get a central midfield slot?)
Man city (Gets worse?)
Spurs Lucas better than Scott Parker - Really, wake up?)

Thinker Joe

So Thinker Joe who from the players you named will get in the brazilian side ??
NONE i think!!
REDWAZ

Scholes
De Jong
Essien
Parker

All way better than Lucas

Realism Please! {Ed016's Note - They're not. Essien is not. Parker is not. De Jong probably is. Scholes is v. talented. But Lucas is a fantastic talent. Open your eyes to that one.}

06 Jun 2012 12:06:53
Hi Ed, what is the latest with Belhanda? Also, when do you think we will announce our first signing? Finally, who are you? Are you a retired player? Or just a sports journalist? {Ed022's Note - I am a superhero who has currently finished a project regarding a certain upcoming film which has been remade god knows how many times, it puts strain on my young body helping out researchers for their movies. Damn them. Anyway, Belhanda will probably not be joining Liverpool due to the very high fee Montpellier are demanding for him. I expect our first signing to possibly be Sigurdsson but I cannot give you any dates.}

06 Jun 2012 11:58:30
Hi Ed, just wondering if this is possible:

Sell: Spearing 1m, Henderson 7m, Downing 7m, Cole 1m, Aquilani 5m, Adam 3m, Maxi 1m, Pacheco 2m, Carroll 12m.

Total: 39m + Wages

Buy: Diame + Hoilett (free's) Sigurddson 7m, Dembele 10m, Adam Johnson 14m, Nick Powell 5m, Munian 25m, Soldado 18m.

Total: 79m - 40m from owners.

Is that a realistic summer for a new LFC ?

Big Mac {Ed022's Note - Nope.}

Henderson £7m? Carroll £12m?! Put on them running shoes, and jog on..

Stone YNWA.

06 Jun 2012 11:56:45
The last i heard aqua didnt want to play his footy in england, do you know if this has changed since BR has been here? {Ed022's Note - Nope, he doesn't want to play for Liverpool. End of.}

Are we going to have this all summer? Just like last Summer, the sooner he goes permanently the better ...so I don't have to read (and Eds dont have to answer) infuriating questions like will Aqua stay? Why won't Aqua play? Aqua's the best, why doesn't he start? Why do we loan him out? He should play , he's better than x,y or z...

He does not want to play in England or for Liverpool.....

Richards

Ed why not just don't post any about him staying anymore.
We all know he doesn't want to play for us, and never ever will, so let's just ignore them from now on

They're infuriating to read and you must be going mental repeating yourself about this in particular.

Jonesred {Ed016's Note - yep}

06 Jun 2012 11:56:11
Hi Eds,

Great site...2 questions....with Sigurdsson looking like being our first summer signing....
How likely is Adam Johnson to join this summer? Also....is there a chance of Ola Toivenen?

Please post and keep up the good work!

Phil {Ed022's Note - Very slim chance to Johnson, and I don't know about Toivenen.}

06 Jun 2012 11:55:48
The facts of the situation of this club are that we will only get 20m to spend. We will not be able to but any class players because we fineshed 8TH!. So don't get your hopes up on putting bids in for the likes of soldado or munain because they simply won't come we'll just stick with stuart downing who remember has no league goals or assits. But hey ho at least we might buy a hoffenheim reject.
JH

Was it john henry who told you 20m ? BS

Just realised your post is signed JH. you are john henry !

There is no budget - if it is agreed that a player is required - the money will be made available

Downing has lots of assists and goals just not for liverpool lol

06 Jun 2012 11:54:55
can people tell me what they think of Kristian Adorjan? i personnally like him and hope he gets a chance. however i feel like the only one. i also feel he would fit in in Rodgers game. but that is my opinion and he is near reachng 20 now so it it a one or the other basically. maybe a loan first? sold? play the odd cameo like sterling did this year but more frequent? we have already lost a few players and have not given them much thought untill they started to play for the teams and very well for them. Ince and mikel san jose (maybe?) that guy from bilbao anyways. either way point is some players do better in the big leagues then they do in reserves which is odd and not very frequent. but you never know untill you try really......BostonRedBlox

I like him aswell a very good and level headed prospect. i would give him the odd chance along with dunn they both seem to have big futures ahead of them

I'd like to see adorjan. Wisdom. Suso. Silva. Morgan and coady and possibly texiera depending on his development. Try them in the cups and see how they do also like to see more of stirling next season in the league.

Eric the red

Hold on i am still confident that the coaches know best. none of the prospects who have left liverpool have come back to bite us on the ar*e. except for maybe nolan, guthrie and warnock. i really did like mellor but he was very injury prone
derryred

Kristian Adorjan is a good question does some good stuff then some very dumb stuff . Jordan ivy is similar hope they flourish then the future looks good
thanks mal

let's face the fact of where we finished in the league last players iying season when t all comes down to that. We will not buy any class players.we will only have 20m to spend. we mayswell just get mohammed diame and god damn average players like that.

Depressed much?

People seem to have this fascination with buying 30+ million players why not be happy with the fact that we want to be producing the 30+ million players.
Anyways they have just as much a chance as flopping or being unhappy.

Kopping a feel

Yeah so you have spoken personally with John Henry and you know exactly what players we are looking at and how much we have to spend? WOW must be nice to have so much inside knowledge about the club. To bad your a Tool who shouldnt be supporting the club if thats how you feel! KNOB

Lets face the fact we dont need plastic supporters like u go support someone else...steve lfc til i die

It's nice of the club accountant to come on here to confirm the transfer budget. Thanks for that.

So what are you saying mate.MATTYLFC

06 Jun 2012 11:46:50
Last season we had wingers that could only deliver a cross and that didn't work out do you think br would have noticed that? Andy Carroll was just as good when the ball found his left foot then he was with his head so I think skillful wingers is the option boubedouz and Adam Johnson would be perfect also better service for suarez! What's your opinion ed? And what are our chances of singing them two players? Don't need to spend big to be a big team just need the right players just look at the scum carrick in there midfeild and Evans at the back they still finish second don't need these marque signings just average players that fit into the team thanks Boxter Red

Ed, With Macca (allegedly) occupied with captaining England we are unlikely to receive much inside info from him over the next couple of weeks. Do you know whether the comments yesterday that BR had spoken to Suarez to reassure him about his future are true? If so does Ed 002 still feel that Suarez is a decent bid away from being shown the door by the owners. If BR sees him as an integral part of his team surely the owners will not force the issue. Reality Red {Ed022's Note - If an acceptable bid is put in, Suarez will be sold. Simple as that.}

I really hope he's not sold, for so many reasons. I bought the new home kit today, and was so tempted to have Suarez's name put on, but I thought it would defo jinx him, and he'd be sold! BTW, the new top feels great on - less sweaty than the Adidas tops. Well done Warrior.

Nick.

We needed someone to rescue us from Higgs and Gillete. Unfortunately it was FSG.

So Ed why would Rodgers come out and publicly state Suarez isnt going anywhere if there were plans to sell him on?

Its funny how all the non-liverpool supporters think Suarez is leaving...I think its more a case of wishful thinkin.

Ed002 is a chelsea fan and I bet Ed022 doesnt support liverpool either?

Suarez has said he's staying and Rodgers has said he's staying yet there continues to this nonsense about if we get an acceptable offer, its RIDICULUS.

Suarez aint going nowhere, get over it! {Ed002's Note - Ed022 is a Liverpool supporter. Try and find something else to bleat about instead of the Editors - it just makes you look like a jerk.}

You jerk. how could u say that. ed 022 is lfc through n through!

What would be an acceptable bid in your eyes Ed022? No less than £30m?

Hi EDs, not a rumour, but more of an observation. I believe Brendan Rodgers' link to Swansea could prove to be a major asset to our long-term development. Rafa often spoke of his frustration at there not being a B team methodology in the UK (as they have in Spain), as that would allow our young players to get exposure to big matches in competitive leagues. Swansea could be the solution for Liverpool & provide us an advantage over our rivals in the Premier League.

We'd be able to send our young talents (i.e. Sterling & Suso) on loan to a Premier League club, but wouldn't have to face them when we play Swansea, due to the loan agreement.

It would also put us in a unique position when negotiating with Nick Powell. He wants first team football, which Man U can't offer. The best he might hope to achieve is to be loaned back to Crewe in League 1 - not exactly challenging his ability. We step in and offer him first team football with a Premier League team would have to be a major bargaining chip + we've always had a strong relationship with Crewe in the past.

Time will tell, but I'm excited by Rodgers appointment & its been less than a week! YNWA

Rich P

Are you not allowed to send only one player to another club ed? {Ed022's Note - I'm not sure mate.}

If im not mistaken only 1 player can be loaned to 1 team at a time in the premier league or something like that.

Kaizer

Nick Powell has more ambition than Liverpool.

Only one player to a team that plays in the same league

Hi eds do you know if were interested in douglas of Fc Twente.. Hes young and from what iv seen hes very good? Also hes out of contract? {Ed022's Note - Not that I know of.}

06 Jun 2012 11:23:19
Eds, what clubs are interested in Glen Johnson? {Ed022's Note - If I remember correctly they are mostly Spanish sides such as Malaga, Valencia (who will be looking for a replacement for Alba) and a few Italian sides. I cannot remember all of them though, but there is a fair few.}

Alba plays at left back for Valencia, Barragan plays at right back for Valencia. If/when Alba goes, according to you, if i'm understanding you properly. Valencia will be looking for a right back (Glen Johnson) to play left back?

Ed022, this doesn't make total sense. {Ed022's Note - You're right that's my fault. For some reason I thought Alba was a RB, and if it helps my case I've seen him play there a fair few times and he's been pretty damn impressive there, as well as at LB. I do apologise.}

06 Jun 2012 11:22:30
Hi Ed, What is your opinion on the imminent arrival of Gylfi Sigurdsson at LFC? And also are the rumours of Joe Allen handing in a transfer request true? {Ed022's Note - No they are not true, and my opinion is that he will be a good signing.}

06 Jun 2012 11:21:51
Sigurdsson £7m
Elm £7m
Adam Johnson £8m
Luuk De Jong £10m
TOTAL=£32m

(4-2-3-1)
Reina; Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique; Lucas, Sigurdsson, Johnson, Gerrard, Suarez; Carroll

SUBS
Doni, Carragher, Coates, Henderson, Elm, Downing, De Jong

That side would get 6th at best

I think Gerrard will play in the centre next to Lucas, with Sigurdsson playing ahead slightly in between the lines of Rodgers system diamond. Which he favours and talks about in some length in a motd3 interview.

___________Carroll

_____Bellamy______Suarez

_________Sigurdsson

______Lucas____Gerrard

Enrique__Agger__Skertl__Johnson

___________Reina

A bit like diagram above where Sigurdsson is the bottom of the diamond, but the whole point to Rodgers' tactics is the ability to be fluid in formation. From a 4-5-1, to a 4-2-3-1, to a 4-3-3, depending on the opposition and their tactics.

BR' note pad

Think glen johnson would make a great right winger and equally centre half he looks very comfortable there done it with ray kennedy bale switched for spurs and now world class carrol would get 10 goals aseason from corners and free kicks no one score from headers against liverpool

Glen Johnson refuses to play in any other position on the pitch other than right back.

Except when he has played left back

06 Jun 2012 11:21:48
Why do the eds think there is a chance of getting Soldado and Muniain? I've seen no press speculation. Do you know something I don't? Do you really think we could with are budget? {Ed022's Note - We have said about these players for months, it isn't a random thing we suddenly came up with.}

Why has there been no press speculation? We have no strong links with these players. So who's so sure about are interest? Do you think we could still be "interested" with Rodgers as manager?

06 Jun 2012 11:20:10
Hi eds was just wondering if we have or had shown any interest in tadic from gronigen? i think he's a quality player in the mould of mata/silva (im not saying he's as good) and i think we could get him for around 10 mill he fits fsgs transfer policy aswell. {Ed022's Note - I've profiled him and he is a truly great player, one of the best up and coming in Europe. But he is Twente bound.}

Is that deal confirmed? If not surely you'd think we could persuade him to join Liverpool over Twente.

RedSG {Ed022's Note - That deal has already been agreed yes.}

06 Jun 2012 11:15:50
Gylfi Siggurdsson
Gaston Ramirez
Luuk DeJong
Clint Dempsey
Aly Cissokho

Only players we need - we should keep Aquilani aswell, not sure about Cole.

Aquilani doesn't want to come back, it's pretty obvious after his being absent from the U.K, let alone england, for two seasons in concession.

He bottled it and doesn't want to leave Italy, where the game is slow and the table is tilted.

06 Jun 2012 11:09:58
hi eds what do you think of krancjar? think he could be a decent buy at a cheap price {Ed022's Note - Good player but it is very very very unlikely Liverpool will sign him.}

Shame he would be a great signing and cheap seeing as spurs have made it known they are willing to sell

Am i right in thinking he was up for sale some time back and we(LFC) were running to get him signed
KRISHNAYNWA

06 Jun 2012 11:04:09
Hey Ed's dont think iv been on since the last transfer window. so a few questions for you guys. ok 1, if G.Johnson is to be sold in this window will maurico isla still be our first choice replacement? or has another player come up? 2, I thought Rasmus Elm had already had contract discussions with us, what exactly is the situation with that? 3, i think if Rodgers is thinking tiki taka then we need to really sort our team. i think lucas, henderson, gerrard and downing will slot in fine but our passing was sloppy. cause of this I think sigurddson (spelling) should be our number 1 target. have you any ideas on our other main targets? 4 what are the chances of clarke gettin the swansea job now he has left lfc? and lastly 5, Carragher... i think its time he started to take a step back. He is a legend without a doubt but he is gone below par in my opinion. Do you think he will feature much this season? and apart from a dream transfer of hummels (impossible) is there any strong honest links to a centre back? Im looking at mateo mussachio, young, strong and as far as i can remember Villarreal were in a financial situation? could be mixed up with Valencia. but think he is a good shout?

anyways looking forward to the usual banter lads
Cheers in advanced for the answers.
LFC Paddy {Ed022's Note - A hell of a lot of questions all mixed up there but I'll try and answer some. Isla was our first choice replacement until he got a fairly bad injury, at which point he seems destined to join Juventus. Liverpool have been asked to keep updated on Elm and it looked probable that Liverpool would sign him, but now Rodgers has taken over things are a little unclear. Carra will probably not feature much this season unless there is injury, but I expect Coates to come in a little more often now. There are a few people being monitored for the Swansea job now, and we have no idea about the 'main' targets at the moment.}

Ah cheers. had a feeling rodgers would be a manager who would be involved everywhere. still would like to see us chase mussachio. Id like to see carra get a shout with the rat to coach england. I really wanna see sterling moving up now aswell!

now for the big question..............who will win big brother?

06 Jun 2012 11:02:32
hi, interrest around leandro damiao seems to have faded.... do u thiink this could be a good buy eds? he is fairly young and seems to have what it takes, and im pretty sure we could get him for the same as we had to påay for soldado... soldado might be better atm, but i think damiao got what it takes to be world class with some guiding... any comments? {Ed022's Note - I haven't seen enough of him to comment.}

06 Jun 2012 10:57:38
{Ed022's Note - He didn't say it is off, he just said things had changed. As I said yesterday, I believe Sigurdsson will now end up at Liverpool and will be one of our first summer-signings.}

Okey now i guess he is coming coz last time u guyz said in a same way about enrique, adam, downing and they were nailed on. Great job eds
NepaleseRED {Ed022's note - No worries.}

06 Jun 2012 10:56:24
Are most likely and realistic signing's this summer will be.

Boudebouz
Sigurdsson
Luuk de jong or Soldado
Krasic

We will be signing a RB & LB as there is interest around Johnson & Jose Enrique didnt play that well the second half of the season.

Reina Skrtel & Suarez will be playing for Liverpool this year 100% so dont be worried about losing them.

If were very lucky we could get someone on loan from Real Madrid as Jose & Brendan are good friends.

JM.

WOW you have just made some major Sh*t up.
Who is your contact that knows that,

A) Suarez wont be sold if a team comes in with a 200 million bid (who knows might happen).
B)that Skrtel and Reina are nailed on too stay I dont think they are going either but I also dont tell people its a definite.
C)and just because Jose and Rodgers had a working relationship doesnt mean a thing or it hasnt for anyone else who has worked with Jose.

Stop pretending ya aint getting ya own Macca page and people will just browse over your posts ya plastic Macca.

Kopping a feel

Wow someone needs to seriously calm down.
im only 16 and im far from making up S**t as all the targets up there are realistic

and funny enough i was scouted by liverpool when i was 13 and i know one of the northern irish scouts well and if you dont believe me i can submit the picture of my invitation to trials.

all the above is true.

Your the one talking s**t saying about the 200M offer so please wise up you silly man.

06 Jun 2012 10:54:10
hi great site just want to know there was interest in matt phillips of blackpool will that interest still be there or is it likely that ones out the window? cheers {Ed022's Note - It will depend on Rodgers but I imagine we are keeping tabs on him.}

Please not Matt Phillips he'll just be another Downing....finishing is very poor!!

06 Jun 2012 10:46:30
Stop talking about Gylfi, lets end it here, we can assume that he is our player now.

06 Jun 2012 10:45:25
Hey Ed 's!
Do you think some of these players are on Rogers list of possible purchases for the summer:
Edin Dzeko - striker
Stevan Jovetic - striker
Ibrahim Affelay - wing
Mehmet Özil - Midfield
Javi Garcia - Midfield
I hope that we can get at least two of these :)

Cheers

AC {Ed022's Note - No realistic chance of any of them I'm afraid. Affelay is the only one that even has a slim chance to sign!}

Mehmet ozil?

Kaizer {Ed022's Note - I know mate, I know.}

06 Jun 2012 10:35:59
eds Who would be the perfect partner for Lucas in your opinion?? {Ed022's Note - Alonso. I probably shouldn't say that because I'll be bombarded with questions about him but it's the truth.}

I could see lucas and sigurdson working quite well to be honest
disagree that alonso would be lucas s ideal partner, lucas is now the fulcrum player that sets attacks in mpotion with his distribution which is what alonso did

lucas imo functions best as the deepest lying of a three man midfield

-------lucas
--gerrard--adam
for example with lucas holding here it gives greater reign for adam and gerrard to attack and with one of the midfielder ie gerrard or adam holding back greater reign to both fullbacks to bomb forward

06 Jun 2012 10:33:58
Hey Ed's. Can I request a player profile for Gylfi Sigurdsson please? Cheers! {Ed022's Note - www.player-profiles.co.uk - request it on this page and it will be logged for you all.}

06 Jun 2012 10:18:25
Hi ed's Please post,i want to know the club J.Chramosta of Czech Republic under 21 play for because this guy score five goals yesterday during Under-21 Euro qualifier.Any interest in him from Clubs. {Ed022's Note - Not a clue.}

FK Mladá Boleslav in the Gambrinus liga (Top division of Czech football).
Quick google search wouldnt do any harm would it?

06 Jun 2012 10:16:13
I think Rodgers should hang on to Downing. I still think he's class. Just think back to last season and how many of his crosses weren't attacked by our forwards. I think with a more confident Carroll in there and if Rodgers allows him to play up more (instead of having to cover for Enrique) then he could be a real asset. I always rated him at Middlesborough. I think Rodgers can make him work.

AmRed

After watching downing a lot last season I wouldn't say he's class atall, if your class u should still come up with a decent amount of goals and assists no matter how poor the forwards your playing with are, however I think he defenitly deserves a chance to show us what he can do next season and prove his worth. Dennis 89. prohink he does deserve a chance

He's not class, just slightly above average. He also needs more luck granted but better players are good at creating their own luck.

Downing seems to be a shy kinda guy to me, maye it takes him a while to settle , plus didnt he have off field troubles last season also, maybe after a year now he ll feel better and be flying mid way through this season

Also if you look at lfctv today it states that downing was after suarez our main chance creator

Downing is definitely not class. decent player but way too overrated coz he is english.
Indian Buzzer

liverpool need a proven premier league goal scorer they should go for defoe. we also need a proper right winger any suggestions. and whats this rumour i hear about kaka.

06 Jun 2012 10:12:23
ED'S, Do you know what the highest wage at Liverpool is? And do you think that FSG might exceed it? Thanks, Keep up the good work! {Ed022's Note - Steven Gerrard has the highest wage by a fair ol' bit. Joe Cole is also up there, but still a fair distance from Gerrard's wage.}

Ed what is Gerrards wage do you know by any chance?
Is it 130k because that is what i heard?
Josh {Ed022's Note - More I believe mate.}

Surely taxes eat up half his wages though... {Ed022's Note - Nope, afraid not. They eat up a chunk yes, but he's still on a hell of a lot of money put it that way!}

Errm It's my understanding that he would be in the 50% tax bracket. Also aren't contracts usually negotiated in terms of the take-home pay. i.e. taking the tax into account {Ed002's Note - Conracts are not negotiated in terms of take home pay.}

Be it 200k or more. he's earned it!

Unless you have been privvy to every negotiation then I doubt you can say that with any certainty Ed. Just the usual answer with as much authority as poss when you actually don't know. I say this because I know for definite of at least one negotiation that was conducted in this fashion {Ed002's Note - I could tell you all sorts of stories about exceptions - about players being paid in tax exempt oil paintings and cars. Players being paid through Monaco registered companies. A player being paid via a interior design company. You have to be some sort of halfwit - you know of "one" and the comment made was discussing "usually". Your presumably are just trolling these pages looking for the slightest reason to bleat about me or the other editors.}

06 Jun 2012 09:58:29
Arsenal fan here,
You guys need doumbia. A proven goal-scorer who would bag in the chances you'd give him.
Thoughts?
Nick.

Iv watched a few matches with him in hes too good for the russian league in my opinion and is only 23 i think, so still pretty young and i would love him at liverpool but for some reason profound reason i dnt think he will even be looked at by us :( unless the eds or macca have any info im not aware of
lfc4lifeynwa {Ed022's Note - I've profiled him and he's a very good finisher, but seems a tad lazy and inconsistent if I remember rightly.}

So why are you guys going in for Giroud if Doumbia is that good?

Because we are stingy you idiot.
Nick.

06 Jun 2012 09:57:33
Sell Spearing – 2-3m
Loan out Shelvey or sell – his decision making is not there (yet!) 3-4m
Kuyt has gone – thx & Good decision – 1m
Sell Maxi – thx - 1m
Retire carra – big thx but nowhere near good enough anymore, this has to happen.
Sell Adam - too slow for us – should get 6m

Total in min – 13m max - 15m

Use Agger as defensive cover for Lucas. If Lucas gets injured again. No need to spend millions on a DFM just yet.
Kelly as back up central or right defence
Keep Johnson
Coates as first cover for Agger or Skrtel in Central
Enrique – needs competition. He takes too many risks.

Possibly give Aquilani and Cole a go in preseason, if not good enough sell on or loan out. But be ruthless about it. Plan & expect to make no more than 5m for the pair of them if they get sold. (total in 20m)
Give Downing a chance til Jan – put the squeeze on him, he needs to deliver, if he cant handle it, tough luck, goodbye in Summer 2013. but he deserves a go under BR as our strikers and midfield were poor finishers last year.
Bellamy to be used as sub only. We need to look forward and develop Sterling.

Buy 1 right winger – Afellay would be brilliant if we could get him. 7m
1 striker – someone like Luuk de jong/Lewandowski – 15m max
1 midfielder – Sigurdson looks like he fits the bill. – 8m
1 left back – give Enrique a scare possibly 10m to spend.
If cole and Aqua get sold, buy a creative midfielder.

Total spend – 40m.
Total net spend 20m.
Wages – probably reduced the bill overall by getting rid of the above.

Use Sterling as sub more – get BR to teach him.
Loan Suso out, get him to do some hard yards, learn the trade. He could be awesome if he learns and develops. Tell him he has a massive future at the club if he does.

Keep Suarez – has to stay, he just has to stay.
Keep carrol – could be a legend. Get off his back and love him. He will deliver. He is growing into his physique and learning to channel his power. It's a very difficult thing to do when you are young and you have the 35m tag on you as well. He is fitter and leaner and sharper because of the way he was managed last season, we will reap the benefits next season.

We were not too far wrong last year. Just needs a tweak and kick up the backside to the likes of Enrique . Reina, downing, Carrol & Suarez to be effective. A couple of key signings, some moderate success for BR and we could be top 6. I'll settle for that next year. We should have been that this year. With a bit of luck and more focus and actually hitting the net, I don't think top 4 is out of the question.
We can only hope, no point in doom and gloom prophecies.

What do you all think??

Red First & Last

Agger's never played defensive midfield for us. Relying on him as first choice cover for Lucas is insane.

Are you having a laugh spending 10 million of our budget just to give a first teamer a scare.

Kopping a feel

06 Jun 2012 09:54:09
susaeta would cost 8m can play pass and move and could supply Carroll, perfect buy.

I think he would be the ideal winger for us as far as the value for what we would pay. it looks as if hes only getting better also

06 Jun 2012 09:53:49
eds, were is macca he is very quiet recently! {Ed022's Note - You have to understand that at this time at the club things are very manic, so there is limited information etc, as we know.}

06 Jun 2012 09:52:01
i belive if we could get these Gaston Ramirez, Iker Muniain, Adam Johnson, Cristian Tellos players it would help us out so much

So do i , thats that then , oh are you paying for them then ......... doh ! andy.

I think it means we come to win not play.

06 Jun 2012 09:45:36
We come not to play? i feel i may be missing something here. Does it mean we come to fight? or as i said, is there something i'm missing? {Ed022's Note - I thought the same to be honest, but I can only imagine that it is saying that we are here to fight for 3-points or something novel like that.}

No ... it means that football is not a game to us, it is our life...

Its taking from an old movie i think "we have come not to play, we have come to win " {Ed022's Note - But surely you have to play in order to win?}

We come not to play, but to win? thats what my guess was

We play to win but come not

It means what it says. we dont come to play

@Ed022 I think its spossed to be along the lines of.. we aint mucking about.. were here to win!

You can not be serious!!
Carroll 10m, Downing 10m why?
They are in England team and Carroll played well last few games of the season.
Spearo 7m who want to pay that much?
Sigurdsson 11m? hoffenheim want 6.8m for him but we give them 11m why?

06 Jun 2012 09:40:02
Think we are in great shape at the moment - With Lucas returning (I hope!) we have one of the most consistant and under-rated players in European football back in the team who, if we went on the open market today, would cost well in excess of £20m - I know a few still do not rate him, but I think it is obvious how much we missed him last season and he will be a massive plus.

In addition, the new manager seems willing to give both Cole and Aquilani a chance, and I think both (but especially the Aqua man) will be absolutely ideal for the type of football we will hopefully be playing.

So, effectively, we have 3 'new' (and quality) players for free before we even enter the transfer market.

Just need a true goalscorer and tricky / fast winger (and I hav no inside info telling me who) and I think we can challenge.

06 Jun 2012 09:37:33
Just read this about our Old Crouchy!

"Stoke boss Tony Pulis thinks striker Peter Crouch will return leaner and meaner next season .... "

Leaner....really!

He already looks like he's been vacuum sealed!

Love Crouchy...

Messi 'bored with the champions league'. Reports from spanish news papers have suggested that Messi would rather play in the europa league calling the champions league 'overated and full of mancs'. His agent has let slip that Leo would one day like to play in red and preferably for a man called Brendon.

Not realy sure what to make of this, he doesn't mention the premier league which is a shame. {Ed022's Note - Hahahaha.}

06 Jun 2012 09:11:43
Gylfi Siggurdsson has said there is very little chance of him being at Swansea next season and has told reporters he wants to follow Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool.
Any truth Eds.
Scousered {Ed022's Note - Yes, as I said yesterday. Does nobody listen to me!?}

06 Jun 2012 09:00:08
I am really developing a big dislike to Tony Evans!! He never has anything good to say about LFC...and he calls himself a fan? Only today he was having a go at Liverpool (again) and sticking up for David Whelans conduct!! This guy is an absolute tool!!

Noting quite a few posters are wanting to get shot of Downing and Adam this summer, I thought the following statistics on the LFC website were most interesting. These are the 'chances created' and minutes played... Downing may have no assists, but he set up the second highest amount of chances created last season. Adam came third.

1. Luis Suarez - 61 (2,556)
2. Stewart Downing - 55 (2,477)
3. Charlie Adam - 47 (2,175)
4. Dirk Kuyt - 40 (2,002)
5. Andy Carroll - 40 (2,065)
6. Jose Enrique - 34 (2,992)
7. Craig Bellamy - 32 (1,241)
8. Jordan Henderson - 31 (2,663)
9. Steven Gerrard - 27 (1,212)
10. Glen Johnson - 22 (1,952)

Been using the old noggin (and a calculator) and worked out each of these player's chance creation per minute:

Bellamy - 40.0
Suarez - 41.9
Gerrard - 44.9
Downing - 45.0
Adam - 46.3
Kuyt - 50.1
Carroll - 51.6
Henderson - 85.9
Enrique - 88.0
Johnson - 88.7

Jolly Red

Not been using the noggin that successfully though have you! Would be AMAZED if you really believe that bellamy creates 40 chances PER MINUTE! Think you mean minutes per chance created! Now off back to school to your remedial maths class!

Ed I don't get to see much of the reserves because of my job so I was wondering if you could help me out here? I couldn't help but notice that Coady, Texeria, Adorjarn who all seem highly thought of on this sight will all turn 20 during the forthcoming season, how far off game time are they currently? If these three are going to be as good as people say then alongside Lucas and Henderson we really should not be that far away in the middle of the park.
Given that the young Swiss lad at Fulham Karim Frei has played 25 times for Fulham and is only 18 ( I have mentioned him before on here, whilst everyone else jumps on the Dembele and Dempsey bandwagon this lads still getting minutes on the pitch as an attacking mid) and players like Lucas, Henderson and Matty Phillips already had minutes at this age.
At this age there bodies should be more than up to some more game time, it's never done Giggs any harm starting early. I suspect the answer will be a year on loan but thought I would ask anyway.
RNred
{Ed022's Note - I will leave this for you posters to discuss. I personally think the likes of Coady, Morgan and Suso are ready to step up to the plate.}

I think Coady will be used as Centre back

Morgan isnt good enough IMO

Suso should possibly go on loan

The ones ready for me are Andre Wisom and Kristian Adjoran

Sam Adzii jft96

Adorjan seems just a bit slow to me.

Just read on the France Football site that Mauricio Isla and Kwadwo Asamoah both from Udinese will join Juventus for 7,5 m euros each in a shared ownership deal.

The deal includes an part exchange and shared ownership of another few players.

So we can forget about Isla.

I'm hearing we have £25/30m to spend this summer. Not enough if we have top 4 aspirations. We will need to sell Suarez whilst the price is good & be smart with the money. I like him, but he doesn't get enough goals for me & has tarnished our club last season.

Sigurdsson has said he is interested in Liverpool after his supposed move to Swansea broke down. Do you think he could be our first signing eds? Also Marin Martin gone to Lille. {Ed022's Note - Yes I do think so, and I said that yesterday prior to Sly Spurts announcing it this morning.}

06 Jun 2012 06:07:14
Since BR's arrival there has been no news on DOF? So does BR hold all d control over the player transfers ? Or wil a DOF be installed sooner than later
{Ed022's Note - I have covered this before, and cannot be bothered to explain it again. Try the search function please.}

Hey Eds, quick question. If we were to bid for Saldado, how much do you think we will need to cough up to get his services?
MelbRed {Ed022's Note - Over 20 million pounds.}

Was he not injured most of the season?
Does he seem to get injured alot Ed? {Ed002's Note - You are thinking of someone else - he played over 50 games this year.}

06 Jun 2012 06:01:19
What about Dani Pacheco? Will he be starting the season for Liverpool next season? {Ed022's Note - Nope, probably not.}

06 Jun 2012 05:49:06
Morning Ed's

We were linked with interest in Wellington.Do you think the interest is still there? Are we likely to firm up interest or have we moved on to other possible targets?

REDFORLIFE {Ed022's Note - To be perfectly honest, I have no idea who Wellington is. I know who Welliton is though.}

He was a Duke from a couple of hundred years ago. Won a few battles in France and Spain but not much kop at football!

Okay okay point taken.it was early in the morning though.

I keep reading posts of people over analysing 'tika taka' and some really cringeworthy ones about us playing a 2-1-2-2-2-1 formation (or something). Can we just stop its kinda embarrassing now. It's been around for years, to name but a few teams; brazil since god knows when. Cruyffs holland, Ajax, Liverpool (of course), and more recently Barcelona and Spain and that's we're I first heard the phrase a few years back. Its basically 1/2 touch football with great movement that basically (if played correctly) ensures you keep the ball. So can the small minority please stop over thinking it and stop writing about it as if it is some unique way of playing coming to Liverpool next season.

Hell you could see kennys team this year at times played great football that wasn't too far away from it, what we lacked was movement and workrate. And the ability to separate post from goal, but that's another issue.

For those suggesting BRs way of playing wont work in the PL,
Arsenal have been playing it for years and would have dominated the league for the last 10 years had it not been for arsenes stubbornness to buy a decent keeper, center back, defensive mid and striker at various times over the years. His vision of creating the perfect team through his youth system, although admirable has certainly stopped him winning a lot more. As long as BR doesn't have this major flaw I really can see us challenging for the title within the next couple of years. I do realise we have an excellent group of youngsters and am not suggesting we don't give them a chance if good enough.

And one more thing those suggesting Henderson isn't up to it. The guy will be class next year I have every faith in him to excel under Rodgers leadership.
CQ

At long last someone else who can see the ability Henderson has - play him where his best position is ( not RW ) and watch him become an Anfield favourite.

Spot on mate. As Rodgers says himself the best coaches are thieves and this is NOT a new way of playing by any stretch. sly aren't about to create a new formation graphic. And you still need good footballers no matter what the system.

PieInTheSkyMan

Agree 100% with this mate. there is something that I have been a bit concerned about though, and thats ultimately as you become good at this system team tend to play deep and negative against you and try to catch you on the break, making it hard to ultimately score against them. Not sure Swansea were given that respect this season and took advantage of the fact, I believe their second season would have been different but I'm going away from my point here, which is the teams renowned for this style had a great forward with vision, ie..
Brazil-Pele (Ronhaldihio, Ronaldo etc)
Holland-Cruyf
Barcalona-Messi (iniesta)
Spain-iniesta (they vary there game with torres up front)
Liverpool-Kenny
Arsanal-Henry (Bergkamp and RVP to some extent)
So is Suarez to be that player for us? I love him but not sure he will sit deep and dictate play. I think it will be interesting to see where we go, I personaly see us more like swansea and Bilbao, than the teams above in the near future, lets learn to walk before we run.
RNred

Basically, poor old Arsene could just never organise defensive systems, way back when he had great defenders there they seemed to act instinctively. But as far as i can tell, it's the real weak point of his tactical knowledge. A weakness i don't see in Brendan Rodgers.

Red7.

You have to have more than just Barca style tiki taka- sometimes it will not work against a stubborn defence just as Barca found out in CL semi finals against Inter and more recently, Chelsea. I am worried that Rodgers may not have a plan B when plan A does not work.

1 player likely to arrive through the doors at Anfield is Fabio Borini. For a fee of around £4.5m. Deal to be completed mid-July end of July.

I'd be quite happy if you weren't making this up.

I doubt very much toni silva will be at the club next season!

hi eds with people talking about rodgers using his friendship with mourinho to take players from madrid my question is who would you take as holding midfield player gago or diarra? id personally have gago everytime {Ed022's Note - Gago.}

Lassana is proven in the EPL though...

Been living in Portsmouth a few years now and saw Diarra a lot for Pompey, way better than any other player in that side of Harry's and if you see him a lot you notice he's very good (hence real madrid), he's also played in this league.
Watched our lot loose down here in the league last time they played, not heared the last of that since! Still we think we have had a rough few seasons, look at Pompey.

Hi All,

This is my view of the last few days, reading articles on Rogers and also some of your comments and concerns..

This is my view and also hopefully some of the things I will ask your respond too (not sure I've done the right thing there ;o) )..

Ok, so firstly Macca has stated he has a number of sources... please lets not debate that, but the players wanted Rodgers - for the purpose of this lets assume its true (I personally do believe it is).

So, the first hurdle is sorted, players want to play for the manager and the manager wants to play attacking, pressing football; sounds great to me.

Rodgers since his appointment has said the right things, respectful, knowledgable, tried to set expectations.... In all honestly the Reading Manager period on his CV worried me, however he's embraced this, explained it and if I'm honest you can't knock what he's said.

OK - Players... I don't know who he's going to buy, however you would expect at least one or two pacey people in the wide areas. Now people are saying this or that player won't fit.. however if we are pressing teams higher and looking for ball retention and regaining the ball quicker then I don't think we will have lots of the first team leaving this year (my opinion only).

Andy's touch is improving, he's not got the mobility IMO of other players, however if we're winning the ball back quicker and in higher areas of the pitch will that be a big problem?

Hopefully he can install into players like Henderson the ability to receive the ball and move it on at pace when it needs to be, retain it and slow down the pace when it is also needed.

He talks a lot about movement and this sums our season up a lot IMO; I like Spearing, no he's not in my best 11 but he's ok - however he makes some bad mistakes, maybe a loan for a year to see if he can cut it playing every game? However when Spearing fholds he's hands up when he's got the ball as there is no one to pass to that to me, means a number of things...

We're too slow in possession, opposition has got players back and all are marked. No1 is moving or making runs (or does not know how to)...

Hopefully Rodgers can make us into a possession team who create chances, maybe this will take longer than a year (I hope not but of the 2 balls I have neither are crystal ;o) ).

However if we make good progress this year I'll be happy.. strangely the more this last week has gone on the more optimistic I have become.

Feel free to comment or add your thoughts..

Hoola

Good post Hoola, and I am the same, the more time has gone by since the appointment, the more optimistic I feel. He exudes a good vibe does Mr Rodgers.

LIVERPRES

Thorough post mate. But i have to say, in regards to Henderson, that just because players haven't played in this type of system before, it doesn't mean they can't do it. In fact, given the very few amount of teams that play this way, i'd say that not a lot of players have been seen playing it. This, however, doesn't mean they can't, they're footballers and to be where they are, they're talented footballers, that's all professional footballers too. So when i look at somebody with Hendersons talent, and when i look at his vision and technical ability when it comes to passing, i'd say he'd slip right into this style of play.

Red7.

Good psot Hoola, i really hope we can improve on our goal scoring. BR i feel will be great for us.

Finesse - Seychelles

You have a go at Henderson and say you rate Spearing? No idea IMO.

Thanks for the replies.

Red7; the post wasn't meant to say that Henderson can't suit this system, it was more that the times I've seen him play this year he has received the ball and sometimes took too long on it (maybe that was what he was told to do, I'm not sure) however I suppose I've been spoilt having watched Alonso and him knowing where and who he was going to pass to before he'd received the ball...

Hoola

Oh dear... I wasn't having a go at Henderson, just saying he needs to speed the play up more.. as for Spearing I said he's ok (also makes bad mistakes) but not in my first 11.. however your read it how you want to read it Dave Whelan ;o)

Thanks for signing the post

Hoola

hi eds i dont know how true this is but a friend of mine has told me that steve clarke is going to remain at liverpool and instead of having an assistant manager we are just goin to have two first team coaches in clarke and kevin keen do you know if this is true {Ed022's Note - I am not sure at this time mate, but a decision is fairly imminent.}

Wouldn't surprise really, by the sounds of it Rodgers, although not liking people around with as much power as he does, he likes to have other people around to kind of bounce ideas off, more the merrier by the sounds of it.

hi eds just wondering what you think of adorjan and dunn from the academy? seen a few games and rate both players defintaly think dunn should be given a chance he better then spearing {Ed022's Note - I like Adorjan to be honest, seems a very level-headed player. I haven't seen an awful lot of Dunn though.}

Dunn is like a rooney type players in build and general play but the difference is rooney was quite grown for his age.

No, the difference is rooney has a head shaped like a potato.

Hi eds,I can only see liverpool getting one class player this year, and truthfully id love it to be soldado,ramirez or tello,what do you think the chances are? And also I think we will get sigurdsson,boudebouz and seedorf. {Ed022's Note - Slim.}

Seedorf? Do people actually think about what they're saying, I'm actually pretty sure Clarence Seedorf is booked out for a few months with party after convention after TV interviews, all regarding his legendary hat-trick for the Netherlands against Puskas' Hungary at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.

Red7.

Seedorf is old granted. But he is still quality and is great at retaining the ball. If scholes and giggs can do it so can Seedorf. Point is though he is better at 35 than Henderson, Adam, Spearing and Shelvey now.

Pompey Red

As he should be Pompey Red, he's 35, nothing beats experience, but longevity is the problem, and he's slowed down way too much to make a prolonged impact.

I cant see a future for Carrol at Liverpool Under Rogers he just doesnt fit into a passing system He requires the early ball and crosses into the box and if he isnt going to be playing then he will want to off i read somewhere that he costs £10m per season to stay at the club so selling early is the most important thing for Rogers i would think it is similar with Maxi and Johnson both on massive wages who will need to be moved on Dempsey is a replacement for Kuyt cheaper and younger with a resale value at 31 or 32 so makes sense Joe Cole will stay and the Icelandic lad will sign that will give you your attacking 4 Suarez Cole Dempsey Icelandic lad Joe Allen Gerrard Henderson Lucus
Aquillani & Adam can both be sold Johnson also that should allow more than enough money for Rogers to spend on his players Maybe a swop with Man City Adabyour for Carroll ? would make sense maybe include another player in the deal who knows

Which planet are you living on? There is no way in hell that Carroll is on more than 60K per week rather than your aforementioned 190k a week. {Ed016's Note - never going to get paid 190k at Liverpool unless you are an idol even then....}

If he scores 190 goals in the coming season, then by all means pay the man, but no way, not at Liverpool.

Red7.

I think the ten million per season is the accountancy way of amortising the cost of purchase and wages of a player over the term of the contract. Roughly speaking they paid 35m so that is 7m a year for 5 years. You then add on his wages too.60k a week would add about 3m a year to the accountancy cost for the 'asset' purchased.
